4. A character you rarely talk about?
Hmmm.. I guess it would have to be some of my more brand new ocs (aka ones that arenât even developed enough to have a tag on here yet!). A lot the ocs I had on my previous oc aesthetic blog are either in oc purgatory or in the process of getting revamped entirely. Some are so new that i have yet to draw them, much less talk about them. But for now, Iâll focus on one who I havenât drawn yet from VITW verse: Adira, a butch dandelion rogue who has a love-hate/lovers AND enemies relationship with the strawberry monster huntress, St. Wickam.
Adira was disgraced knight who now wanders the wilderness as a thief and mercenary. She often finds herself crossing paths with the high-strung strawberry and sheâs made it her personal mission to play with her and to steal her heart (literally or metaphorically? Whatever happens first). Wickam was initially charmed by her but she soon realized that Adira stole her money and theyâve been getting into homoerotic fights about it (and many other instances of them messing with each other) ever since. Their relationship is.. complicated. And neither are ready to admit to themselves or each other that they have romantic feelings for each other. And thatâs all I have for now. đŤĄ
18. Any OC crackships?
Two words: Archdemon Polycule⌠Or more accurately, separate polycules that have overlap with some members but not all of them are involved with each other. Hereâs a visual aid I drew for this weird ass poly ship:
All Roads Lead to Asmodeus. Would this polycule be an absolute disaster of a relationship? Yes. Do I think it would actually work out? No, I doubt it would last for very long, especially when infernal politics come into the mix⌠Not to mention that they tend to bicker with each other a lot. Would it at least be entertaining to watch this particular polycule crash and burn? Yes. This will never happen in canon but it would be funny if it did.
26. Have you ever had to change your OCâs design or something else about them against your will?
Not exactly? The only thing that kinda made me change things about my ocs against my Will was probably the existence of H*zbin H*tel/H*lluva B*ss. For a while, I stepped away from my Hell/Heaven story partly because of its popularity/fandom and me wanting to distance myself from it, which included my own story about Hell. I would elaborate further, but thereâs a time and place for being a hater and it isnât here lol. The other, more major reason was that I had a crisis of faith in my artistic and writing ability was also having at the same time I was vocally beefing with these series on tumblr.
31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really)
I can think of a few ocs who would actually have a tumblr blog.. I think the most interesting of which would be Archdemon Belphegorâs tumblr blog(s). Iâd imagine sheâd have several blogs: her main (memes, occasionally posts about her inventive work, plushies, science posts), a blog dedicated to programming and maybe game dev, an aesthetic blog based on 90s computers and video games, and a separate NSFW blog not connected to her main. Iâd imagine sheâd take the time to make her own custom layout and across the board, theyâd all have old computer desktop/old video game vibes. She posts pretty frequently and she sometimes slacks off on her work to check her socials, including tumblr.
43. Do you have any certain type when you create your OCs? Do you tend to favour some certain traits or looks? Itâs time to confess
Oh definitely. For one, I typically give my ocs curly/wavy hair, usually dark hair (brown or black). I rarely give them blonde or ginger hair. And even my ocs who have gray hair now were brunettes in their youth. I tend to give my ocs non-straight hair because I find drawing hair with a lot of volume/defined shapes to be more fun than just straight hair.
Aside from that, I tend to make my ocs fat, mostly because Iâm fat myself! And a vast majority of my ocs end up with long lashes since I tend to just. Give them obvious lashes, regardless of gender. What can I say? Lashes look great.

if youâve addressed this before I apologize but what do you think of claims that Kevin is a poc coded character and his supposed âmistreatmentâ is fandom racism?
I mean Nora definitely intended for Kevin to be white while writing him, as she did with all other characters who races are not stated as otherwise. And like, I think Iâve seen the post you're talking about and what they describe is not what coding actually means.* There also isn't any textual basis for Kevin to be a POC besides Wymack, who people often see as non-white due to the discomfort over his 90âs tribal tattoos. IDC if people HC Kevin as a POC, but usually heâs just vaguely tan in the way people make Neil. Youâll see a âThe Rockâ FC for Wymack, but I haven't seen anything that actually goes beyond that. Iâve seen ficâs actively treat Dan, Matt, and Renee racistly, but Neil and Kevin get the same âvaguely tanâ treatment and therefore avoid it. Nicky and Riko are different since they're canonly POC and not fanonly, so they fall into a different area.Â
I would also say Kevin is a pretty common fandom favorite too? So I would disagree with that claim as well. Most people I talk to their favorite is either Andrew or Kevin it seems, then like a few Aaron lovers, and my personal favorite is Neil. These are all canonly white main charactersâand are largely still depicted and treated as such. Dan, Matt, Nicky, and Renee are all larger characters than Jean or Jeremy, and besides Nicky, are intended to be white but the fandom decided weren't. So Dan, Matt and Renee all get pushed to the sidelines over favorable âwhiteâ characters. Fandomâs racism actually has such wild layers tbh, same with its misogyny, but thatâs another thing.Â
I do think with a lot of the characters in AFTG adding headcanons making them POC can add an entire new layer to the canon and recontextualize scenes and struggles which would make some themes a lot strongerâI do this with most of the foxes in fact.Â
But Kevin to me, if I do HC him as a POC, he is going to be white-passing and raised essentially believing he is white until he learns otherwise.Â
Kevin to me is very peak white guy. I love him as a character, but book 1 he shows very typical white guy arrogance. He comes to a team and bosses them around while also dismissing them in the same breath. He believes he is owed something from the people around him, and they will blindly follow him and do what he says. They should always listen to him, and he automatically knows what is bestâbetter than Dan. This feeling of âwhat I ask will be given, and I am above themâ is definitely due to the raven mentality of everyone is inferior, but Iâm sure there were racist raven recruits along the way, and Kevin is usually HC to be brown and not East Asian/Japanese, which experiences a very different type of racism. I believe if Kevin was a brown MOC⌠he would act differently.Â
Personally, I see white-passing Kevin discovering heâs not actually white as much more narratively interesting and fitting. His mom is Irish, and it's very rare for a mixed kid to be perceived by society to look more related to their white parent than their brown parentâunless of course they're white-passing. And since the fandom usually has Wymack be a MOC, then it would make sense for this green-eyed light skin baby that never is outside but when he is he just kinda tans but is still light skinned, and think âyeah I believe her when she said heâs not my kid.â I also think it could fit Kevinâs arc of realizing Exy isn't all there is to him, in fact there is a whole culture and a father waiting for him to connect with, that he didnât even know was there âas an option.â it gives him something else to tack onto his identity as well that he had no idea about and was sheltered from.Â
Iâm still not solid on my own HC for Wymack and Kevin and if he will be white-passing or just white yet, but I play around with the idea sometimes for sure. But I donât ever see him as visibly a POC. He feels no need to prove himself like Thea does and the media is shown to go easier on him as well as the foxes. The foxes are annoyed with him, but they ignore it, and the media forgives him easily and fawns over him, telling him heâs handsome and talented. Kevin from an outside perspective is very privileged in a way that parallels with Allison a lot actually. Who was based off of Paris Hiltonâ disowned wild child of a rich family that owns Hilton hotels, struggled with the public eye and is credited as the original influencer.Â
*But yeah POC coding isnât really a term like queer-coding is. Queerness is something that must be unstated for various reasons, which led to coding for either vilification or because there was no other way for it to be shown. But media dives pretty hard into âotheringâ with POC, doing itâs best to show all the ways whiteness is different from âthe restâ by playing up stereotypes or extra emphasis on non-white features. I mean the first ever âtalkieâ or modern day movie, had blackface in it, (the jazz singer). There is no perceived societal need for âPOC codingâ. There is such thing as âJew codingâ however, which again is used for vilification and dates back pretty far in depictions of devils in churches in Europe. Kevin isn't shown as a âgay pervertâ like queer-coding does, or âdark curly hair and a strong nose, with his hands rubbing togetherâ like Jew-coding does. POC arenât treated with coding but rather a full dive into minstrel depictions instead.Â
Kevin is shown as sympathetic but also struggling, he is a victim, but he is also harsh. He is struggling with addiction that gets enabled by the other people around him who donât know a better way to help. He has an arc, he learns to grow, he gets the tattoo, he talks to Wymack, he fights with Dan, he speaks to Jean, he scores the last point on the winning game, he learns to stand up to Riko. He develops in the books, and is one of the 3 main characters, Neil, Andrew, and Kevin.Â
I think the fandom definitely focuses mostly on Andrew and Neil, which is unsurprising since they're the main pairing and get the most development and attention by the author as well. But the nature of fandom and fanfiction typically is to have all the background characters act as overly invested props to get the main paring ending up together. That's just kinda the way fanfiction typically goes. Kevin still largely is a character with his own thing going on, often recovery or dating other people or grumbling in the background with his own thoughts, in fics a lot more than any of the other characters in AFTG who aren't Andrew and Neil. I donât think Kevin gets excessively âmistreatedâ either, I think he gets a lot of the similar flattening out of his character we see a lot in general in fandom, whether its for a joke post or a fic.

Another fic from the void.
Obey Me palace drama AU that was named the Seven Kingdoms AU
OC x Canon
1.5k words.
A/N: * is a bit of a joke towards Chinese history where servants of the Emperor would refer to themselves as this slave. I had the feeling I needed to say this before someone tries to call me racist.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today was a very important day for Gaia and the Devildom. The newest tribute had arrived to the Devildom. Demons of all kinds had wished to get a glance at her face. The tribute herself, however, had wished to return home. Not be another concubine to some demon, living her life behind a cage, a tool to use and throw away when no longer useful.
She was a sacrifice.Â
Talks about unification and peace between the three realms were a thing long before she was born. It wasnât until Prince Diavolo of the Devildom had begun his plans that there was any genuine progress. Since then, they have sent many human women to the Devildom as servants or concubines. Sacrifices in exchange of accessing the Devildomâs wealth. Nikki was the latest victim of this, a young woman, just turned twenty years old. She wasnât a princess, a noble or even grossly rich. She didnât possess powerful magic, nor did she have much talent anywhere else except music. She considered herself to be pretty; having dark skin, curly black hair and green eyes that looked like it glowed. She was chosen because of her father. Nikkiâs relationship with her father was nothing short of dysfunctional. They had rarely seen eye to eye on most things, clashing with ideals and moralities.Â
Perhaps, she thought, this was a punishment. That if they sent her to marry some random foreigner, she would see her fatherâs side of things and as a bonus, he would have access to the enormous amount of money sent as compensation.Â
The eternal night of the Devildom was weirdly calming to her, the evening breeze cool on her skin. As they escorted her to the throne room, Nikki could feel herself shiver, the dread creeping up her bones. The throne room was unusual, at least by her human standards. Seven thrones sat at the bottom, a singular throne above them. Engraved on each throne was an animal and a sigil, the throne above fancier and more decorated than the rest. The rest of the room had the animals and sigils decorated in banners or engraved in the walls. The throne room, despite the black paint on the walls, was golden. It created an imposing aura, even with no one sitting, no one watching.Â
âYou are here early, the Emperor would be with you in a moment.â A man with green hair, dressed in butlerâs clothes approached Nikki, having her subconsciously step back. He seemed to note her anxiety, standing a distance from her, greeting her with a bow.
âWhatâs your name?â
âBarbatos, I am Emperor Diavoloâs most trusted servant.â He bowed to her again, stepping into the room behind the thrones.Â
Nikkiâs first reaction to Diavolo was surprise mixed with dread. Instead of sitting on the throne, he walked to her, apologizing for being late, offering his hand for a handshake. The cheery and friendly aura around him only made him more regal in appearance, his red, black and gold clothing matching the colour scheme of the throne room.Â
âWelcome to the Devildom, I hope that you have had a pleasant trip here?â
âI have, thank you.â Nikki chose her word carefully. One wrong move and she would be dead.Â
âYouâve met my loyal butler, Barbatos, but Iâve yet to introduce myself,â he laughed, as if he was desperately trying to lighten the atmosphere. âIâm Emperor Diavolo, I rule over the Devildom in its entirety, youâll understand what I mean by that later.âÂ
âI am Nicole Duke, your royal majesty.â Nikki didnât know what to do. Should she bow, should she say anything else, should she address herself as this slave*?Â
One would wonder if Diavolo noticed her hesitance or not, motioning for Barbatos to give her some pastries while asking her some questions. It was mostly straightforward, a rundown of things she should know during her stay and confirmation on other things. Why was the Emperor doing these things himself? Wasnât there a servant or someone who could do something like this? She wouldnât voice these things, rolling with the tide. Eventually, six other men entered the room one by one, each sitting on one of the lower thrones until the one on the furthest right was empty. The golden bull, engraved in the throne, kept her attention until she remembered where she was and what she was doing.Â
âThey sent me here to be a bride for one of the Kings, when, um, who do I marry?â Nikki asked as the man in black and sliver who sat in the middle frowned.Â
âSince everyone is here, I can now delve more into what you are going to be doing here and have them introduce themselves.â Emperor Diavolo said, turning his attention to the man in the center. âYou can handle the rest right, Lucifer?â
âWhereâs the last one?â Nikki interrupted , pointing to the empty throne. âAre they busy?â
A silence. The man in the center stood up and spoke. âWelcome to the Devildom Nicole, I am King Lucifer, I rule over the northeastern region and Iâm the eldest of the seven of us, unfortunately we have sent my youngest brother as an envoy to the human realm and he couldnât attend.âÂ
Nikki didnât buy it but nodded. If that was the case, what was with the silence beforehand? One by one, the others introduced themselves. Mammon was the second eldest and the ruler of the Western regions. He was loud with his disinterest of this whole thing, Nikki wished she could join him. Leviathan and Satan were the third and fourth, respectively. Levi, distracted and disinterested himself, was the ruler of the archipelago off the western coast. Satan was polite, kinder than the two before, but behind his words and smile, he watched her coldly with his blue-green eyes. He was the ruler of the northern region, even going as far to invite Nikki to the Shangri strip.Â
âThe Shangri strip?â
Satan nodded. âItâs a piece of land that borders on the northwestern kingdom, it has a lot of resources along with natural beauty, itâs one of my favorite places in my Kingdom.â
âYou mean my kingdom Satan.â Lucifer spoke, Nikki wondered if his frown was permanent at this point.Â
âThere are some disputes over it, but it shouldnât affect your stay here.â Satan didnât seem bothered, his smile brighter than ever but his eyes were colder than before. Nikki could feel the goosebumps appear on her skin when he looked at her.Â
âUnless a full-blown war happens over it, then it affects everyone.â Mammon said, Diavolo interrupting before anything else could happen. Â
Asmodeus, the fifth and the ruler of the southernmost regions was also friendly but unlike Satan, there was little behind it. He even praised Nikkiâs looks, being the most interested of the bunch. The other brothers didnât waste any time in ruining that image. Telling her he probably just wants to have sex with her. Asmodeus didnât deny them, being more upset that they pointed it out.Â
Beelzebub, the sixth who ruled over the southwest region, didnât have much to say outside of his name and region. He reminded Nikki that it had been hours since she last ate with his mention of lunch. Once he ended, Emperor Diavolo turned his attention back to Nikki.Â
âThose are the six kings that rule of the Devildom along with me,â the Emperor spoke, âOver the course of the next year, you will attend bridal lessons and at the end of the year you will choose one of them to be your husband.â
It surprised Nikki to hear that she had a choice in the matter. She was expecting to get married right away to one of them without the chance to get to know them first.Â
âYou had a question for me, your royal majesty?âÂ
âThereâs no need to be so formal, call me Diavolo and yes.â Diavoloâs dark golden eyes looked directly into Nikkiâs. âBe honest, you donât want to be here, do you?â
âNo, I donât, I want to go home.â
Diavolo nodded. âWe figured, which is why at the end of the year, if you chose, you can return home as an ambassador to the Devildom.â
She could go home. Nikki could feel the tears of relief well in her eyes. She could go back home to her twin sister, return to a semi-ordinary life.Â
âWhatâs the catch?â
Even with being forced to become an ambassador, Nikki felt it was too good to be true.Â
âNothing, we donât want to force you into doing something you donât want to do,â Asmodeus spoke, âThat thing is bad for the skin.â
âYou cannot leave the Devildom nor the capital without an escort during the year, but thatâs just to make sure you donât run away and break the contract.â Satan agreed with Asmodeus' first statement. Â
Nikki noted what they said. She didnât have much questions. Most of them surrounding the absence of the missing seventh, asking only those about what she would do during the year and one important question.Â
âWhy was I chosen? Iâm no one special.â
Diavoloâs words stuck with her. Even after the year had past.
âThatâs exactly why it makes you unique, in a place like this and I think we need someone like you around here.â
Caleo one-shot: Only Us
Summary: Calypso tries to convince a jealous Leo that he doesn't have to worry about her and Percy.
a/n: Decided to post this here too! Like I said on AO3 (and have said here a few times), Iâm still in the middle of reading ToA so this fic isnât entirely canon compliant, but I still feel like jealous Leo is smth that would probably happen at some point of their relationship so thatâs why I wanted to write this fic. Anyways, please enjoy and review! The comments motivate me /a lot/.Â
words: 1865
genre: some floof, some hurt/comfortÂ
warnings: none
AO3 link: [x]
...
Leo was bored. He had already done everything he had planned for that day â finishing his newest mechanic project, oiling and flying with Festus, helping his siblings, coming up with a new bad joke â but he hadnât had a chance to spend a lot of time with his girlfriend. He was on his way to the strawberry fields where he knew Calypso liked to spend her time because it reminded her of her home, when he noticed her on the beach. That alone didnât surprise Leo. The sea was another place she considered home-y, after all. What did surprise him, though, was that she wasnât alone. She was with Percy. And they seemed to be deep in a conversation.
âIâm sorry about what happened in Tartarus,â Leo heard Calypso saying. âI didnât mean to curse you⌠it was a moment of whim and I didnât think⌠I mean, it doesnât excuse it butâŚâ
âHey, itâs OK,â Percy tried to reassure her, putting his hand on her shoulder for a moment. âYou were mad because I forgot to make sure the gods had fulfilled their promise⌠So Iâm sorry too.â
Leo didnât hear more because as the words sunk in, his first instinct in that situation was to leave. Go and never let them know he had heard any of that. However, his mind was racing with possibilities of what that conversation could have meant, so Leo decided to try to distract himself with the best way he could.
His bunker had been a place that had brought him comfort ever since he had found it almost two years prior. However, soon he noticed that this time even that didnât help; his hands were working on something he didnât even recognize while his mind wandered elsewhere. When he stopped for a break, one of his hands started tapping that familiar rhythm he always tapped when anxious. He immediately stopped when realized what he was doing, very conscious of the meaning of the Morse code he had used. Love only hurt, it seemed. Leo had been occasionally thinking how lucky he was to have a girlfriend like Calypso, but he should have known it wouldnât last. Not when he could offer nothing all the other boys couldnât. Percy was handsome, strong, tall and funny, and he hadnât broken Calypsoâs table when they met (that was always a bonus). It was only natural sheâd like him more.
With frustration, Leo started forming fireballs with his hands and shot the first one into an open water container where it wouldnât cause dangerous situations. Festus, who had been resting outside the bunker, woke up at the sound of the fireball hitting its destination and when the second ball started flying, he threw himself between the ball and the container and swallowed it, then making a rare hissing sound at the person who had rebuilt him.
âWhat are you hissing me for?â Leo snapped at the metal dragon, another very rare occurrence. Often Festus was the only one who Leo felt understood him, and in general Hephaestusâ son was very calm and patient with him. Thatâs how the dragon knew something definitely was wrong with his master. He gave his answer by blowing smoke like a morse code from his nose, probably telling him to stop being stupid.
âFine,â Leo sighed, sitting down on the stairs next to Festus. âItâs Calypso. I saw her with Percy and⌠Iâm probably being paranoid but seeing them interact like that made me think⌠what if she falls in love with him again? Iâm no match for that guy; you know water and fire are not a good comboâŚâ
Festus made some ticking sounds this time, trying to convince Leo that she wouldnât do such a thing.
âYou seem very sure for something that I built⌠So, what do you say I should do about this?â
Festus pushed him with his huge snout, almost making him fall.
âOkay, okay! Iâll tell her what I saw. Happy?â
Festus made a sound that sounded a whole lot like a snort, reminding Leo that that was literally what his name meant. Happy.
âThat was a bad joke, bud. I can still change your name to something that doesnât mean happy, you know,â he sassed at the dragon but this time the metal creature made so clear a laughter sound that Leo couldnât mistake it, challenging him to try. Knowing the dragon had won that battle, Leo decided to return back to the camp and face his girlfriend.
âŚ
When the couple was finally alone later that evening, Leo didnât have time to mention Percy before Calypso noted his weird behavior.
âLeo, youâve been so quiet this evening. You didnât even try to outjoke Apollo at the dinner and that has probably happened⌠well, never, so far. Is something troubling you?â
Leo supposed that this moment was as good as any to confess what he had seen.
âI saw⌠you and Percy talking at the beach.â
âOhâŚâ Calypso thought she knew what was coming but she decided to bite her lip and let Leo speak. If she had learned something about him during all those months theyâd spent traveling, it was that if you didnât give him the opportunity to speak out, he may bottle those emotions inside until near explosion point.
âYou were looking pretty chummy out there,â Leo continued, staring at his hands awkwardly.
âI donât know what that word means but we had a good talk,â Calypso replied, crossing her arms over her chest. âWe realized that we both had made some mistakes and⌠while some scars heal slowly, we decided weâre past that point where we can just avoid each other and act like nothing happened.â
âWas that all?â Leo asked doubtfully.
Calypso didnât know how she should have reacted to that question. She was torn between annoyed and amused because of Leoâs clear jealousy. She chose the latter.
âLeo Valdez. You really donât have to worry about me and Percy. We've moved on a long time ago. The way he looks at Annabeth⌠itâs so obvious he loves her a lot.â Before he could argue something about âold saltâ, she added: âAnd⌠even though he has his flaws⌠I have met a pretty special person as well.â
âHuh?â Leo finally raised his gaze from hands his with surprise. Calypso wasnât usually that straightforward about her feelings with him, she preferred showing it with actions rather than drown Leo with sappy words.
Calypso smirked slightly. âYou know the one. He broke my dining table the first time we met. Sometimes his jokes are very bad and heâs too sarcastic for his own good. He can be stubborn to the point of it getting frustrating.â
Her expression turned back to serious.
âWorst of all, he has a huge inferiority complex, which means he doesn't see himself the way he should and blames himself for things that are out of his control. He can also get pretty jealous because he doesnât believe that someone could actually love him.â
Leo rolled his eyes. âThanks. Just what I needed. Salt to my wounds and a reminder of my flaws.â
Calypso raised her voice to stop him, but there was softness in her eyes as he continued.
âListen to how this story ends, OK? This guy⌠He's more smart and skilled he realizes. He's taught me so much about the modern world, even some embarrassing things.â She stopped for a moment, remembering a time when they had gone to a clothes store and she had seen modern underwear for the first time, asking about their use.
"Right,â Leo nodded, probably thinking about the same incident.
Calypso continued: âHe even knows several languages and has taught me some too, although Iâm not sure how useful the Spanish swear words will be to me. He also built an entire battle ship and a mechanical dragon thatâs basically alive.â (Festus, who was also nearby, snorted, meaning: âbasically?â) âRumor has it he died for his friends so no one else would have to and outwitted the death. Those alone are some pretty cool things. But thereâs more.â
For once Leo didnât know what to say. Never had he heard anyone talk about him like that.
âThere are moments when I can see the past coming to haunt him. But even though he hurts, he tries his best to make others smile with his â maybe not always bad - jokes, and it usually works. AndâŚâ Calypso brushed a lock of black, curly hair behind Leoâs ear gently, âhe came back to get me from Ogygia even though it was supposed to be impossible, even though I admit that I probably didn't give you a lot of reasons to like me⌠But somehow you saw through my cover and knew that I still cared about you, even though I really strongly tried to fight against it because I had been hurt too many times. When you showed up again⌠Iâm pretty good at concealing my feelings but I actually wanted to cry when I saw you that day. Because someone really cared enough to break through the curse.â
She swiped a couple of tears that had fallen on her cheeks, with her other hand lifting Leoâs chin so she knew he was looking at her. His eyes were burning with emotions he didnât know how to express.
âOf course I care!â he exclaimed. âWas I supposed to just leave you there after everything you did for me?!â
âLeo⌠Do you know how many times I had to listen to men promising to come back to me and they never did? I had already lost my hope after Percy and that was why I got so mad when you showed up for the first time. But⌠when I got to know you better, I think I started sensing that there was something different about you. That youâd really go through enormous lengths for someone you loved. Of course, I didnât think youâd fall for me because I was acting the way I was, but for once, I got lucky.â
âNo, you didnât get lucky. You deserved it,â Leo said quietly.
âWhatever you say.â Calypso smiled a bit sadly. âAnyway. There are some things we still need to work on. For example, you still have to learn to appreciate yourself more. I can't do that for you⌠but I can be by your side and support you, as long as you let me.â
âCal⌠thanks. I feel pretty stupid for doubting your feelings. Lo siento, for reals. If I do something like that again, feel free to punch me, or whatever. And if someoneâs lucky here, thatâs me because youâre pretty damn amazing.â Suddenly his face got his usual mischievous expression. âNow, as for those bad jokes...â
Calypso couldnât help but smirk as well. âHa, I knew you'd get stuck on that. You idiot. But maybe they are a part of your charm,â she shrugged.
"Wait. You think my jokes are charming?" Leo asked, now sounding a lot more like himself.
"Hush. Or I may change my mind about that," Calypso noted and pulled him for a much needed kiss.
On The Run (fanfic) - Chapter 1: The Deal
Summary:Â Lee decides to leave Texas with a childhood enemy after agreeing to help each other out.
A/N: AND SO IT BEGINS. Woof, this is my first time doing this sort of thing. I had a lot of fun writing the interactions between these two and I really hope you guys enjoy it.
Word Count: 2681
Notes: I mention here that Hester is a jackrabbit when sheâs really an arctic hare. In the canon, Lee doesnât know that sheâs a hare until he meets Iorek in Once Upon A Time In The North. Wanted to clear that up in case anyone here hasn't read the book.
Speaking of OUATITN, I never got to finish it yet either, and I took the liberty of writing in some tiny details that might contradict from it. So sorry if I accidentally get any Lee Scoresby backstory info wrong.
Anyways, enjoy!!
"Can't you move any faster?" Lee Scoresby whines softly, waiting by the back door of the Wrightâs family mansion.
After several more minutes, Jane suddenly emerges from the window above him and she climbs down the vines growing down the side of the brick exterior walls. Hanging around her shoulder was a satchel of the last few things she needed before they leave.
She releases the vines and lands on the grass right in front of Lee, taking him and his jackrabbit dĂŚmon, Hester, by surprise.
She's followed by her own dĂŚmon, a Eurasian lynx named Zachyre, the feline landing just as gracefully on all fours.
Lee blinks before he follows Jane, who is now running into the wheat field ahead where his new balloon had already been set up and ready to take off.
Jane was just Lee's age, in fact, a few months older. She was a beautiful young woman of slightly built but slender frame. Her hair was of short curly blonde and she wore an expensive-looking leather bomber jacket that reflected her wealth quite easily. The handkerchief tied around her neck was her signature touch. The handkerchief changes everyday but regardless, you almost never see her without one.
Their hearts race as they run down the golden wheat field and nostalgic memories of carefree childhoods resurface.
The two young adults were running down the fields like children on recess after a boring first period at kindergarten.
The cool spring breeze seemed to make the gold in Jane's hair fly, and the skyline of wooden ranch houses, towers and trees seemed to blaze past Lee like he was already soaring great speeds. They weren't even in the skies yet, but they had never felt so free.
Jane makes it first into the gondola, where she had already began removing the ropes and anchors holding the balloon in place. Lee sprints faster and hops inside right at the nick of time.
The balloon immediately takes off as the draft pulls them high into the stars. After a few moments, the balloon stabilizes in the air. Lee takes off his hat and sinks onto the floor as he and Hester catch their breath.
"Jeez... Were you planning on leaving us?"
"You weren't running fast enough" She laughs and sinks down onto the floor as well, breathing heavily.
Whatever, I still made it, he thinks to himself.
This was it. It was finally happening.
Lee had wanted to leave the country for so long and that day has finally come.
He has no expectations, no specific plans. Just a hunger to be in some place new; to start a new life and completely start over in unknown lands, where nobody knows his name and nobody can hold him back.
He could go to the beaches of Greece. He could mine jewels and diamonds in the Malaysian mountains. He could befriend Eastern witches. He could fly to the North and meet a panserbjørne. The possibilities were endless.
It would be just he and Hester against the world. Well, at least that was what he had originally planned. But things had gotten... Complicated.
Jane opens her satchel to double check its contents. Inside it was some extra gold and pearl jewelry she planned to sell for extra money, and an aeronaut's manual. It was this small thick book with a picture of a balloon on the cover.
He honestly couldn't believe he decided to take her with him. He had always quite loathed her family name for how they bossed the low and middle class around liked they owned everything and everyone there... Which they sort of did, but that wasn't the point.
It took Hester some convincing him for him to realize it, but he needed some guidance if he really wanted to go through with their little "expedition". Not just guidance on where he should go first but also on actually flying the balloon. Thankfully, he knew someone who was knowledgeable with both.
The only problem was... That person was Jane Miller Wright. They were never exactly in the best of terms since childhood, and he had always found her to be quite the annoying presence.
But she offered a deal with him. It was simple: She'll give him flying lessons if he agrees to take her away from home. She wouldn't tell exactly where she was going, just what she was leaving behind, and that she'll show him where she needed to go.
-----
Lee gets on his feet to look at the scenery. The town was lit up by small glowing dots of streetlights and outdoor porch lights.
The moonlight glimmered over miles and miles of crops, fields and open land where he used to spend his weekends re-enacting the Battle of the Alamo with the orphans his uncle and aunt looked after.
He could see them just pass the clocktower he once climbed with a childhood friend long ago. It was the tallest structure in town where every sunset, it promised a beautiful view of the sun meeting the dots of trees on the horizon.
This town carried 21 years worth of memories. It was almost as if his whole life was being laid out before him... And he's about to leave all of it behind. Gosh, he didn't realize how much he was leaving behind.
Lee had been considerably quiet for quite some time now, and it wasn't very like him.
"Hey. Lee, you in there?"
Lee stands there in silence for a bit before he gets out of his own head.
"Sorry, I was just... Thinking."
"Really? That's a rare occurrence."
"Oh, har-dee-har." Lee groans as he puts on a thin coat that was hung on one of the balloon's load supports.
"This whole 'venture was my idea, you know."
"Yes, and you've hardly thought through it. You don't even have the skills to fly this thing"
"That's exactly why I agreed to bring you here, isn't it?"
Lee's quick hands suddenly pulls out the aeronaut's manual from behind his back. Jane scoffs. Now that was one impressive skill Lee had that she didn't.
"So where do we start? Teach me, teacher."
"And if I don't?"
"I really hope you didnât hit your head when you jumped out of that window. Seems like you amnesia-d the deal out of your noggin. Look, if you don't fill your end of the bargain, I'm afraid I'd have to take you right back to that filthy mansion of yours."
âYou will do that?â
âOf course I will.â
Lee steps closer towards her. Just inches apart, the tall man looked down at her with dark, intimidating eyes.
"After all, balloon's nothing without its pilot." he points at the subtitle of the manual which reads exactly that:
A balloon is nothing without its pilot.
They hold each other's glare, both of them insistently standing their ground. Suddenly, a devilish smirk tugs on Jane's face.
"Has it not occurred to you that this balloon's already got a pilot?"
Lee's brows furrow "What do you mean?"
Then suddenly, it dawns on him. Hester groans and mutters to herself as the thought only now comes to her as well.
Shit. He really didnât think this through.
She's the only one here who knows how to fly this balloon.
Shit, the deal was a ploy! And she really was trying to leave him behind back there. That part of her plan didn't work out, but it didn't matter. She's still the only one here with flying experience, so with or without him, this balloon was practically hers now.
Jane laughs at the look on Lee's face and grabs the book back from his hand while he's pre-occupied.
She strides onto the far edge of the gondola and began working with the ropes and levers in a pattern that was alien to Lee.
He groans. She's showing off.
"So this whole thing was just about stealing my balloon, huh?"
"I'm honestly surprised it took you this long to figure it out." Jane comments, side-eyeing him as she worked. Boy, he would do anything for a chance to smack that smirk off of her face.
"She's joking." Zachyre hops onto the cushion seats so he's on Lee's eye level. "We weren't trying to steal from you."
"Are you, now? I'm pretty sure you just stole my balloon from me... And kidnapping me too, I suppose."
Lee faces back to Jane, "and here I thought I could trust you. I should've known thievery runs in the family." He says in a mocking tone.
His last statement almost sets her off.
"You're one to talk about thievery--!" Jane angrily stomps as she walked up to Lee. Lee takes a few steps back, actually getting worried at what sheâs about to do with the rope she was holding, but Zachery steps in her way, purring loudly as he rubbed himself against her leg. It always calms her down.
"He's just trying to aggravate you; trying to make you regret getting involved. But we shouldn't give him that satisfaction." Zachyre explains softly.
Jane takes a moment to collect herself with a deep breath.
"Alright, cowboy. For your information, I haven't broken any promises yet. Your balloon is still yours, I'm merely taking over management."
"Ah." Lee replies, dry sarcasm in his voice.
"I'm a lady of my word; I will teach you how to fly... In time."
She walks back towards Lee, locking a potent glare as she ties a knot with the rope in her hands.
"But in the meantime, balloon's nothing without its pilot, isn't that right, Mr. Scoresby?"
She walks away, her hair flips as she turns to continue what she was doing. Hester giggles in amusement. She had to admit, this was entertaining to watch.
Lee as well couldn't help but smile as a soft chuckle escaped him.
"Alright, then... Captain." Lee rolls his eyes. "Perhaps the least you could do is tell me where we're going?"
Jane glares at Lee with the same belittling side-eye look. She hesitates, then rummages through her other bags. After a few seconds, she pulls out a large folded piece of paper and sets it down on the floor. It was a world map.
Lee kneels down next to her while Hester approaches one edge of the paper. They were clearly excited. They never had the money to travel outside of Texas, so anywhere seemed to be a great place to start.
Jane studies the map for a few seconds then points on a drawing of European land.
"London." she concludes.
Lee squints and his brows furrow.
"London? Seriously?" Hester grunts.
"What?" Jane raises an eyebrow at her.
London was always known to be a bit of a fancified city. The people there were clean and wealthy and flaunted flamboyant expensive apparel and jewelry. Probably Jane and Zachyre's type of destination but definitely not Lee and Hester's.
"I'm not sure if you've noticed, but Hester and I won't exactly... Fit in." Lee gestures himself and his dirty farmer attire. His moustache was thin and as messy as his hair. He was wearing an old checkered button-up under a thin cotton coat, with dark blue jeans and boots covered in mud and wheat.
"Why do you even need to go to London of all places?"
"Why not? I thought you wanted to see new places. I'm sure you've never been to a city like London before."
Lee raises an eyebrow. Was that another brag?
"No, but I was just hoping for something more... I don't know, fun? Like a beach, or an art museum in France or at least some elephants in Africa or something."
"There's plenty of things to do in London! And if you're so concerned about fitting in, I'll buy you some clothes when we get there."
"You will?"
"Yes. You have a terrible fashion sense anyways."
Lee laughs then shoots back. âSays the girl in bell bottom jeans.â
âWhatâs wrong with my jeans?â
âThose stopped being cool like, 2 years ago.â
They go on like this for what feels like hours. At first, it was a small debate over whether or not bell bottom jeans were still cool. Afterwards, they continued nitpicking the smallest things about each other, just mocking one another with Janeâs petty insults and Leeâs purposefully terribly jokes.
Hours pass. Finally, the gondola had reduced to a comfortable silence as small beams of orange sunlight began to appear in the sky.
Jane looked after the balloon as they continued going northwest, while Lee sat quietly on the cushioned seats reading the aeronaut's manual. Every now and then, he'd look up at Jane to watch her work, trying to figure out on his own which was which and what did what.
Lee looks at the opposite side of the balloon and noticed Zachyre and Hester whispering something to each other. He couldnât hear what they were saying, but they seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Eventually, Lee began to yawn. His eyelids were beginning to feel heavy and he could barely comprehend what he was reading anymore. That meant that Hester was getting tired too. She excuses herself from her conversation with Zachyre and hops on the seat next to Lee.
âWe should sleepâ she says as she gets on his lap and moves the manual out of his line of sight.
âHello to you too. You two seemed to be enjoying yourselves.â
âIâd say the same about you and Jane.â She replies. Lee exhales sharply from his nose.
âWell, you clearly werenât listening to our conversation. We were arguing over bell-bottom pants and haircuts, Hester.â
âAnd you were having fun. Both of you. I could tell, and Zachyre could too.â
Lee gives her a confused look. Thatâs what they were talking about the whole time?
âLook, Iâm as surprised as you are. But you know, weâve never really got to spend time with them alone before. Maybe leaving with their company wasnât such a bad idea after all.â
Lee considered her words in his silence. She had a point. He hardly knows anything about her other than her last name was Wright. They lived in opposite sides of the city, so they only ever saw each other in local events and competitions. Whenever that happens, they either get into discourse with each otherâs group of friends or prefer to avoid each other. But surprisingly, spending alone time with her doesnât feel very different from spending alone time with his own good friends.
The mocking, the petty insults, the deprecating jokes followed by laughter. Only difference is that Jane is a girl, and he'd never met a woman with her kind of attitude. In fact, now that he thought about it, that quality about her is kind of admirable.
The idea of having quality bonding time with Jane seemed crazy to him. He looks over at her. Sheâs sitting down now, just watching the clouds fly past her and feeling the wind in her hair, deep in her own thoughts. He began to wonder if similar thoughts were running around her mind about him. Is she enjoying his company? Is she as surprised about it as he is?
âYou know she tried to steal our balloon and leave us behind, right?â Lee looks back at Hester.
âHonestly? It seemed like something you would do.â
Lee chuckles. Perhaps he and Jane had more in common than heâd like to admit.
Before he could continue the thought, Hester suddenly cuddles up with him inside his coat. âGo to sleep.â She says with sterner tone in her voice. Lee wanted to stay awake, but Hesterâs soft furry body against his stomach felt so warm and relaxing and cozy. It was making sleep all the more tempting.
He rests his hand over her and holds her close as he began to lean a bit onto the empty gas tank on his side. Sheâs right. She always is. About sleeping at least. Heâs going to need a lot of rest for the adventure in London. Hopefully, it will be as memorable as Jane insists.
Persona 5 headcanon
I have this little headcanon story idea that I kinda wish was true, kinda edgy but I think its still cute, wish I had more ideas to fill it in tho
---
I like to imagine ann was born in America and got interested in watching sailor moon before they eventually moved to Japan, and she got all excited because it looked so pretty in the anime and everyone is mostly nice and caring, little ann thinking she'll fit right in with her blonde hair and blue eyes as much as usagi does,
but instead gets left out and isolated because of the speculations on school campus, simply stood out too much even at times when she wanted to hide everything from the world, and just fit in, to get along and be happy, have friends to grow up with, a little ryuji with his natural black/brown hair (idk if it actually is canon) stunned by this starry blue eyed girl and gets a crush on her instantly,
low-key always in the corner of his eyes when walking through the school halls, when the school gathers in the gym, even simply just sitting there in the school cafeteria minding her own business reading what ever interests her, her tone of voice, her smile that rarely shows, her favorite crepe matching her pretty outfits,
eye-catching indeed like the most beautiful flower in a feild full of grass, oh how hard has ryuji's heart been pluk? Maybe some what more than just head over heels, still he never did confess,
Few years pass by, ryuji is still trying to get ann to notice him, he dyes his hair yellow to match hers, keeping a look out for her behind her back, even joined to the track team to get more fit and show his passion, sweat dripping down from his chin, he has no regret and still going head strong,
bad damn.
That good for nothing pervert. Suguru Kamoshida. Ryuji thinks as he can feel the sense of trouble in his guts.
But as the start of the story goes in the game, ann sees akira for the first time and she gets hit by a wave of emotions, the nostalgic feeling of watching usagi as she remembers tuxedo mask in akira's silhouette,
The rain still pouring lightly giving this scenes of enchantment, the cold weather feels nice along with the soothing sounds of water dropping from the sky and the light sounds of the city streets in Aoyama-Itchome,
She sighs, "I wish some made an anime about me" she whispered to herself as the meloncholic feeling deepens.
Ann feels the eyes of this curly haired stranger looking at her, he wears the shujin uniform therefore he must be a new transferred student.
-----
Tbh I dont know who I ship ann with more, ryuji or akira, maybe all three I ship ryuji and akira too lol,
This was my first time making something like this and I'm new to tumblr so I hope it was ok to read!! Please comment if you have any thoughts, I just did this on the spot randomly because I thought it was cute.
ALSO THE ART IS NOT MINE
You can find the artist on twitter! @/mizu_cx
Since When Has Our Relationship Ever Been Easy?
At last. After three and a half years, itâs time to crack my knuckles and write fanfiction again. Iâm honestly very shocked by the lack of fanfiction revolving around Eclipsaâs family. Globgor doesnât even have a character filter on fanfiction.net! Like, WHAT?!
Very well. Then I shall take matters into my hands.
Iâll warn you now, this story isnât going to be very plot-heavy. Oh, thereâs an overall plot, but itâs more about living out the daily lives of Globgor and Eclipsa up until the point of their imprisonment. Iâm going to use all the tiny glimpses of info given to us about their past and do what I can to create an accurate timeline for them. Each chapter will be divided based on their current ages. If I get a new filler idea for some point in their lives, Iâll create bonus chapters to add on. Okay, I think I covered everything, so read on and enjoy!
Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, this story will be canon for my muse Globgor, as Iâm writing what I honestly believed plausible for his character!
Prologue CH1
Prologue
Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away lived a beautiful princess. She was young, only seven, but very intelligent for her age. She was the kind of girl who always asked âwhyâ and would gladly face any danger just to feed her curiosity. She was a bit selfish, but not in a mean way. It wasnât that she didnât care about other people. She just found her own feelings to be important too and often felt like she was the only one who thought so too. It wasnât fair that she was always so lonely and bored staying in the Butterfly Castle all day! Why did everyone have to fight all the time? It would be much more fun if everyone just played together instead. This princessâ name was Eclipsa.
Now, far away from Butterfly Castle lived a young monster, only eight. He was a boy of no origin. That is, no one knew where he came from Not even him. He just showed up one day, a hungry toddler digging in the trash. When it became apparent that the monster child was a Size-Shifter, a rare and deadly breed of monster, the locals took turns taking care of the child. Eventually the boy performed odd jobs in order to earn himself some food and a place to sleep. Times were rough for monsters. No one was too young to offer a helping hand. Not that this bothered him. He liked making himself useful. This monster childâs name was Globgor.
Eclipsa and Globgor. Two children who came from races that despised each other. Although they currently didnât know each other, the day would come when they would fall madly in love with each other. Theyâd give up everything to be with one another and become the most infamous villains in all of Mewni. Their actions would cause them to be loathed and feared for many centuries to come.
This is their story, and itâs time to tell it.
~~~
âYo, this brochure is the bomb!â
âThereâs only one act thoughâŚâ
âYeah, but itâs only the best act of the kingdom!â
âYeah, show some respect, man! Oh wait, ssh! Here we go!â
The boy quieted down as their leader stepped out from behind the makeshift curtains that had been put on display for them. It was their homeboy, Prince Jushtin. He carried his usual air of confidence as he held a microphone up to his mouth.
âYo, yo, how yaâll doing tonight? You doing good?â
âYeah!â
âYou bet!â
âEh, couldâve used some snacksâŚ.â
The other Boy-Prince Cru looked at old man Whizzbag with disdain. Pea-Pea had to nudge him in order to help him get realize how stupid and thoughtless he was being. The man was hip, but he was always spouting utter nonsense.
Jushtin didnât seem to notice. Instead, he did a little turn and gestured with grandeur towards the curtains. âYeah, yeah, I thought so! So allow me to be the one to introduce you to the one, the only, the princess Eclipsa!â
The Cru burst into applause as a small child with curly head of dark green hair stepped out onto the makeshift stage. She giggled as she showed off the large hat, long boa, and sequins blouse and skirt. She walked just like her uncle instructed her, holding her arms out so she didnât trip.
âEclipsa is wearing a fabulous outfit put together by her favorite uncle!â Jushtin walked alongside his niece as he continued his narration. âNow, this isnât a look that can work with just any young lady! No, for most it would be trying too hard. However, due to the princessâ pale skin and uniquely colored hair, the extravagance helps bring out her facial features, most notably those precious spades on her cheeks!â
âOoooooooh!â The cru leaned forward, watching  in awe of the seven-year-oldâs modeling skills.
Jushtin snapped his fingers and waved his hips side to side. âThatâs right, Clippy! Strut your stuff! Bring your style to life! Unce, unce, unce, unce!â
âYouâre so beautiful, princess!â Sazmo sounded breathless as he held out a hand to the little model. When she gave him a high-five, he grabbed he fell back and let his bros catch him. âShe touched me! I got the angelâs touch! Iâm never washing this hand again!â
Eclipsa continued to giggle and blush at all the attention she was getting. She was about to turn around to get dressed in her next outfit when she looked down and noticed something was amiss. âOh no! Uncle Jushtin! I got it wrong! My shirt is on backwards!â
Jushtin took a quick glance at her before smirking at his friends. âYou heard the little lady, boys! Backwards shirts are the new in! Follow the lead if you want to stay up with the times!â
Eclipsa watched in amazement before bursting into a fit of laughter as all the boys proceeded to turn their shirts backwards.
The group went silent as the doors to the castle suddenly burst open. In walked several members of the Mewman army being lead by an irate Solaria. A growl could be heard before she even had a chance to throw down her helmet. She swore and shook her head, even as several members of the castle staff appeared before her.
âMommyâs home!â Eclipsa quickly ran in the direction of her mother, followed closely by her uncle.
âYour majesty, did you manage to disband the monster soldiers from our outpost?â someone pleaded while trying to stay out of the queenâs way.
âOf course we did! But at what cost? We lost too many of our men!â Solaria ran a hand over her face as she continued to move forward, seemingly unaware of the small girl running at her heels.
âMommy! Mommy, Uncle Jushtin and I are having a fashion show! Come and see!â
âWe need to be find a way to lower their numbers before they reach the battlefield!â Solaria reached for some documents passed on to her by one of the court members. She gave it a read over while she continued. âWhere do these beasts keep coming from? I swear, theyâre breeding just to spite us!â
Eclipsa wasnât discouraged. âMommy! Mommy, come see!â
âHow do they keep finding our outposts? Is someone giving them intel? Oh wait, itâs those Avarians, isnât it? Theyâve been flying around and spying on us! I knew we should have stationed the Ponyheads on air patrol! But no! Theyâre just too good for that!â
âMommy, look at what Iâm wearing! Come see! Come-â Eclipsa stopped her insistent pleading once Jushtin placed a jeweled hand on her shoulder. He smiled at her in an apologetic way.
âClippy, I think your mom is busy right now.â he whispered. He started to guide her back over to his Cru. âLetâs continue the show and maybe she can meet up with us later, mâkay?â
Eclipsaâs smiled faded. She looked at the floor dejectedly. She wouldnât cry. She knew her mother had the most important job in all of Mewni, but she was getting busier every day. She never got to see her anymore. Of course she was grateful to have her Uncle Jushtin to play with, but she missed the days she had the majority of her motherâs time.
She wished the monsters would just leave them alone. They always kept her mom so busy. And so angry.
âYour majesty, should we call up a meeting with the High Commission so you can share what you saw?â
âI will in a couple of hours.â Solaria finally stopped her tirade in order to turn around and look at her retreating family with a smile. âIn case you didnât hear, Iâve received a personal invitation to a fashion show.â
Eclipsa instantly spun around with a happy gasp. She charged forward and leapt into her motherâs outstretched arms. The queen chuckled at her daughterâs delight before looking up at her brother.
âWhyâs your shirt on backwards?â
Jushtin simply clicked his tongue and gave her a piteous look. âYou havenât heard that the backwards shirt is whatâs in right now? You make me sad, little sister. You make me sad.â
~~~
Far from the Butterfly Castle stood a tavern filled with a variety of different monsters. Its popularity helped make it into a large, but still rather beat-up looking place. The latter was due to the fact that this is where monster army came to either boast of their victories or rage at their losses. Whatever the case was, the patrons always hung on their every word. Those who fought for monster kind were considered heroes, even if they didnât always come home with good news.
Today had turned out to be one of those days.
âI swear, the next time I see that pompous queen, Iâm going to scratch out those annoying cheek marks of hers!â
âOh, then why didnât you do that today, Rex?â
âWhat? Are you saying it was my fault?â
âYou always do this! Everytime you come home empty, you brag about-â
âYou act as if you did much better!â
âGuys, guys, we did manage to take out a lot of her soldiers-â
âOh, putting a happy face on things? Yeah! Tell that to the families going to sleep hungry tonight!â
âOh enough already!â an Slime Man soldier sighed while pouring himself a drink. He turned to the other residents with an apologetic smile. âIâm truly sorry to all of you. This whining isnât what you want to hear. You all deserve to hear our words of grandeur and promise. Take hope. What I take from this battle is that we posed as a threat to the wicked queen. We struck fear into her heart! I can feel it!â
âSlime, stop talking. Please. They donât want to be coddled. They want the facts!â A Frog Man grumbled. He looked down at his empty tankard and snarled. âWhere the heck is the brat? OIE! GLOBGOR!!â
An eight-year-old boy with scraggly light pink hair and a green tunic jumped nearby. He had been so enraptured by the story of the soldiers that he had forgotten he was supposed to be working. He quickly grabbed the pitcher and refilled the Frog Manâs drink. âSorry about that! Wonât happen again!â
âHey, can we get some goat-pig over here? Weâre starving!â a Septarian called.
Globgor took a pencil from behind his pointy ear and jotted down in a little notepad. âOf course! Right away!â
âAnd while youâre at it, my armor needs to be washed,â another monster said, tossing said object over to the boy.
âYeah, mine too!â
âSame here!â
âActually a wash sounds pretty great!â
Pretty soon, a pile of chest plates were poured on top of the young monster. Somehow a small hand managed to pop out of the top and give a thumbs-up. âIâm on it! Iâll get these right back to all of you!â his muffled voice called.
Globgor was met with a piteous chuckle as he finally managed to pull himself out of the heavy armor. He was met with the amused eyes of Gooblah, the only other Size-Shifter in Mewni. He was a much darker red than Globgor was, donned many battle scars, and had a long wisp of white hair as well as a beard. At the moment, he was sitting at a table, trying not to laugh at plight of his only brethren.
âAw, whatâs so funny?â Globgor didnât enjoy being laughed at. It meant that the person doing it didnât take him seriously. He attempted to save face by striding over to the bar to fetch his cleaning gear by keeping his nose up in the air.
âThose boys could use you as a personal hanky, and you would thank them for it,â old man Gooblah chuckled.
âAnd why shouldnât I? Theyâre out there fighting for our lives against the evil Mewmans! The least I can do is offer my services to them when they get back!â Globgor kneeled down and began scrubbing the blood and grime off the armor.
âItâs admirable that you respect them, but that doesnât mean they need to treat you so rudely.â
âTheyâre just blowing off steam. Plus they want to toughen me up! Everyoneâs expecting me to join when I get older!â
âRight. Because weâre Size-Shifters. A rare and deadly breed of monsters.â A sullen look appeared on the monsterâs face as he stared into his drink. He didnât seem to hold the title with much pride.
Globgor looked at him. âI hear you used to say that with vigor. Why are you such a coward now?â
Gooblah smirked. âItâs cowardly to not want to fight anymore? To find it all pointless?â
âYouâre letting everyone down. We were unstoppable when you were going around eating Mewmans. These men wouldnât be disappointed right now if you would just kill the queen!â
âYou werenât even born yet, how would you know?â the older man sighed as he looked over at the young, loud soldiers. âIâm sorry Iâm the only other Size-Shifter and yet such a disappointment. I know you want a big, scary monster to look up to. I justâŚ..I had an epiphany, you know? This war, what weâre carrying on withâŚ.thereâs no winning it. Not with how weâre doing it. We hit them, they hit back harder, and then we hit harder, and eventually we all just wind up setting ourselves on fire.â
Globgor finally stood up. âIt wonât have to be that way once we dominate the Mewmans and make them our slaves!â
A frown appeared on the otherâs face. âBut now what would that make us? I thought we were fighting for fair treatment. That doesnât sound very fair.â
âThe Mewmans will never treat us fairly! Itâs bad enough that you wonât fight, but now why are you taking their side?â
âIâm not. I just want there to be peace. Iâve seen too many of my friends die from everyoneâs stubbornness and pride. There has to be another way. Somehow.â Gooblah turned back to his drink, seeming to prefer seeing his own reflection rather than the incredulous look on the younger boyâs face. âAnyhowâŚ..have you found a bed for tonight?â
Globgor grumbled and looked away. âNo. Todayâs work was for food. You think if I harvest your crops tomorrow, you could let me sleep in your house tonight?â
Gooblah chuckled and gave a small smile. âSounds like a deal.â He still didnât look up from his drink.
Before Globgor could speak to him further, he got another call from the soldiers, one of them complaining that his chair was uneven. He gave his elder a grateful nod before heading off to tend to the needs of the customers.
Gooblah watched the boy, a somber look on his face. GlobgorâŚ.he really was a good kid. But growing up alone in the middle of a war was filling his heart with anger and hatred. He didnât want to bring peace to Mewni. He wanted to see Mewmans either die or serve monsters. If he was this ruthless as child, what would he become once he reached adulthood? Any semblance of love would be removed, leaving only a bloodthirsty tyrant. Stump help the Mewmans when the boy learned how to increase in size.
It didnât look like things would be getting better in the future. And for that, his old heart truly went out to his fellow Size-Shifter. If times were different, maybe Globgor wouldâve grown up to be a noble, valiant monster. But with the way things were now, he had no doubt though that the boy would grow up to become an unintentional villain.
Discovery: Despite Yourself
Ok, so obvsl Iâve already watched this one so itâs a second viewing, but I tried to get at my initial reactions even if, now, from a perspective of having seen up to ep 12.
Saru says âalmost nothing else is where itâs supposed to be!â having the position of celestial bodies be different in the Mirrorverse is wonderful attention to detail ouo Having even their targeting computers and sensors confused is another great way to convey that the MV is different down to the atomic level.
âQuantum signatureâ is typical technobabble, but functional and better than the obsession with âresonanceâ in the more string-theory-obsessed 90s.
Iâve never noticed it before, but one of their casting directors is named Orly Sitowitz. Imagine living to see your perfectly ordinary name rendered unfortunate by Memes :|
Another clue for Lorcaâs jump double-cross I missed the first time: he claims Stamets was âeagerâ to work with him on multiple universe tech after the war. Taking advantage of Stametsâs non-responsive state puts a time-limit on his plans which Iâm not sure really fits with how nebulous they end up being, but I guess thereâs little choice. Also: maybe he was hoping communication with Discovery would be difficult once he got Burnham off the ship.
The cloak algorithm! The first time I watched that I didnât really think about it, but if Discovery ever had made it back, then Klingon cloak-tech would have been useless. So either 1)Discovery doesnât make it back or 2)this is a way to allow the Klingons to still get their cloak tech from the Romulans as pre-Disc canon states; the Fed has a solution to their ânativeâ cloak tech, but then they bought a different vers from the Romulans that was invulnerable to the algorithm.
Unrelated, but I just realized that the way Disc establishes Klingon cloak -as a secret specific to TâKuvmaâs house before the war- works really well with the idea of Klingon tech being based mostly on salvaging from Hurâq tech after they were driven off. If the only surviving Hurâq ship with a cloaking device able to be studied belonged to TâKuvmaâs ancestors for some reason, then itâd make sense that theyâd keep its secrets to themselves in an aristocratic society like theirs. I doubt thatâs what they were going for, of course.
He waves them off even LOOKING at the NavLogs: yeah that wasnât suspicious at all X| X| I do like, however, the way the writers have him do that -defraying suspicion by blaming himself, bamboozling them with a believable but technical explanation, then using emotional appeal through hyping the danger of the situation to direct their attention elsewhere-, which is the way an actual manipulator would protect themselves in that situation. Stuff like this is the difference between writers who know what theyâre talking about, and writers faking it by writing what they think a certain type of character should be like based on tropes.
Tilly is so great, and I love that they allow her to know things, and to use that knowledge creatively. Rare to see women characters written like that, and rarer still when the character is not just allowed to be emotionally competent, but the Most Emotionally Competent person on the show. Ditto with Culber on that actually: emotional competence does not preclude technical competence and Iâm glad for at least one show that doesnât argue it does.
âPaul is your superior officer; he gave you an order. Youâre not responsible for this.â Can I also just say how wonderful this portrayal of a sensitive, nurturing, truth-abiding military organization which cares about the people who make it up Discovery continues to be?
Discoveryâs virtual U-Is are excellent, and I like how they activate and use them through specific hand-postures. I donât really talk about it much, but the âchunkierâ sci-fi aspects of Discovery like this are very satisfying.
The intersection of brainwashing, dubcon, secret-agent, double-life, hurt-comfort, psychdrama in the Voq storyline -and particularly the Prayer scene- is just so Delicious&Ficcy owo owo owo
It is both supremely painful, and supremely sympathetic, to watch Burnham open up to someone in a way she never has before, to trust them in a fashion her Vulcan culture completely discourages, and see it used to betray her. I do wish weâd see more flashes of Vulcan in this second half of the season, though.
Tillyâs first attempt at Evil!Tilly ans Issacâs Scottish accent are Wonderful and Good u_u Also well acted.
This is kind of detail oriented but: the âcometâ the Fed uses on their command insignia strikes me as almost an inversion of the sword through earth insignia the Empire uses. Donât know if thatâs intentional or just some iconoclastic observation of my own but, if it IS intentional, thatâs another great little world-building detail.
That the Emperor would 1)send Burnham to deal with a rebellion personally, and 2) personally respond to Burnhamâs death, when their initial intel spoke of a âfaceless emperorâ(suggesting a buffering bureaucracy) is a big sign they had a personal connection.
The âDestinyâ exchange was weird at the time, but much creepier knowing Mirror!Lorcaâs history of grooming Burnham.
Obvsl there was nothing on Defiant in the datacube. The Rebels Burnham finds know nothing of the Federation or Defiant(if such intel were on a random datacube, itâd have to be well-known), and the files accessible from Shenzhou are under heavy security(such that Burnham has to access them clandestinely), only to those captain or higher, and heavily redacted even then. And the complete, unredacted files are only available from the Palace-ship. Thereâs no way the rebels would have gotten access to that.
I feel like Tyler not, actually, being Tyler is going to be important to the Lorca plotline somehow. Like: Perhaps Lorca knew Mirror!Tyler, and thatâs why he recruited him, and heâs relying on Tyler to act in certain vague ways like the Tyler he knew(as he is with Burnham and others), but at some significant point Tylerâs going to do something Voqish that upsets Lorcaâs plans significantly.
âWell my mother would definitely approveâ at her straightened, blonded hair, is such a small line, but it adds so much more nuance to Tillyâs relationship with her mom which, until now, has been portrayed as entirely positive(at least, iirc). Also a bit disappointing that negative attitudes towards curly and red hair still persist in the 23rd century |:T |:T
Burnhamâs mastery of metaphor is⌠Masterful(X| X| X|) âPainted Rustâ damn! I wonder if thatâs a Vulcan thing; they do love aphorisms
I donât like that they killed Culber. I understand the narrative inevitability of it -there has to be a payoff to Tyler being, Iâm pretty sure, an engram patterned over a surgically altered Voq and Culberâs the only doctor we know on the ship- but given the persistence of âkill your gaysâ writing, and how good this show typically is on that and many other fronts, Iâd have preferred them writing something else. Even if they find a way to âresurrectâ him.
Voq knowing all the access codes on Discovery is⌠Ominous :| :|
The short, shifting look of pride/affection/approval/attraction on Keylaâs face when Burnham walks into the bridge over Connorâs corpse gives me Life u_u
I feel like there is A Lot of Voq in that speech Tyler gives to Burnham at the end of the ep; as if heâs speaking from Voqâs own experience hiding among enemies without realizing it.
Can you tell me more about your tmnt crystal gems au? Like gem placement, headcanons, just whatever you feel like sharing! I really loved the fusion posts and I've been thinking about the AU a lot I lowkey (highkey) want to draw some fan art whenever you get around to telling us about the designs a bit! You're super talented keep up the awesome work!!
Hello! It took a while to get back to this bc I hadnât quiteworked out the gems for everyone. I have now, though! Because you reminded meto, lmao. also if anyone wants to get technical about the meanings or whateverof the gems I picked please donât, Iâm a lowly fic writer and did minimalresearch and donât care to get super deep about things, thanks.
Alright, so I wrote that one ficlet a while back about Donnieand April, and they were the only two I had for sure down with what gems theywere. (Iâll recap them tho, in case folks missed it.)
Donnie = Purple Pearl.(because of reasons.) Gem placement is his forehead.
April = Yellow(or was it gold?) Tourmaline. Gem placement is her hip.
Raph = Pyrope.Gem placement is the back of his right hand.
Leo = Blue Iolite.Gem placement is between his shoulder blades.
Mikey = Jasper.(like, similar to canon Jasper, but smol like Amethyst ended up.) Gem placementis his chest, also like Amethyst.
Casey =(tentatively, may change if I feel like it) Onyx. Gem placement is his leftpalm.
Splinter = Fireagate. Gem placement is the same as Mikeyâs.
They essentially move from planet to planet once the whole crew is together and have interstellar travel once again, staying outside the range of the crumbling empireâs reach, but mostly hang out on one specific planet thatâs got very little sentient life on it. Very relaxing for a collection of people who really need to calm down sometimes. except Casey who is raring to go any time all the time and needs to be stopped
And hereâs some descriptions and stuff, because hell yes Iâd love fanart pls and thank you:
Donnie: He is thelankiest fuckin Pearl you will ever meet, tall as hell and kind of maybeashamed of that. Like, garnet type tall or something. Red eyes, which stand outweirdly against his color scheme. Heâs this pastel purple nightmare, and has along gauzy see-through skirt type deal with shorts underneath; you know, pearltype chic. Long hair, usually in a braid that goes to his midback. ColoringâŚ.Uh, probably pale purple for the shorts and shirt, lavender purple for theskirt, and dark purple for his shoes. They are ballet shoes. He will break yournose with said shoes if you antagonize him.
April: On theshort side, not overly big but pretty thick regardless. She was designed for war after all, not forcourt regality. Standard pants plus sleeveless shirt dealio. Something close toJasperâs in SU canon, but more yellow/orange color scheme. Her hair is likeTMNT canon, and her eyes are blue. (which has ~significance~ for reasons.)
Raph: short,stocky, power house build. Taller than Mikey by a small margin. Light reds anddark reds are his color scheme, with black boots. Hair is short and dark andspiky on top, p close to being a mohawk. Green eyes, bc itâs my AU I can dowhat I want. (his reason for being âwrongâ or whatever shall be revealedlater.)
Leo: a slimmerbuild than Raph, more appealing to the upper castes to look at and be around. (Itâsall about appearances with court gems)Heâs designed for both combat andaesthetic, wouldâve been a high class guard, maybe even captain of said guard.(except the whole desolation of the empire happened and that didnât work out) Darkblue and darker blue for his hair and skin, and purpley toned light blue forhis clothing; plus black shoes. Â Navy blueeyes obvs speaking, and I imagine his hair to be very short. Close croppeddealio. (similarly to Raph, his reason for âwrongnessâ will be revealed later)
Mikey: evenshorter than Raph, and the same type of power house build. Basically has thesame color scheme and Jasper in SU canon, though his hair is less flowy andmore curly. Kind of coily? If that makes sense. Blue eyes obvs, but other thanthat he resembles canon Jasper/Amethyst strongly. (yâall can probably guess hisbackstory already)
Splinter: tol. Holyfuck so tol. He was a general of sorts in the empire, and a very high rankingone at that. Body type is like his canon ratdad self, and his robe dealtranslates into this AU too. Honestly he just looks a lot like Hamato Yoshi didas a human. Same sort of dark red color scheme too. (bleh, boring, on to thenext one who is not)
Casey: skinnymotherfucker, about the same height as Donnie, and the most âmetalâ gem to haveever come into existence. His clothing is a mess of whites and greys and black,mostly because he ended up coming out of the ground⌠kind of wrong? His gem hasa shard of foreign material in it, so while heâs still perfectly good in afight, heâs not entirely a gem and thus didnât stick to the physical design hewas supposed to. He also popped out of the ground without a lick of knowledgeabout the empire, or gems, or even who the hell he was, so he never took thename Onyx. Heâs always just been Casey, and he was raised up with verydifferent ideals than what other gems got.
Anyways. Bandanna boy looks like this scruffy skinny thing, andtends to change his outfit every time he regenerates. (which is often. because heâsCasey and he is always getting intotrouble.) dark grey skin, and black hair, etc. Canon him, but worse, because he can regenerate himselfand his weapons as many times as hewants. Cue endless chaos.
 â-
Uh, as for headcanons, I guess Iâll give an assortment ofrandom things I have in my head about this AU:
-Donnie doesnât like sleeping. He says it feels weird and isuncomfortable with being unaware of his surroundings.
-Casey and Mikey are the only ones who eat food regularly. Everyoneelse either partakes on few occasions, or outright refuses because itâs gross.
-Leo has a vintage collection of sci-fi comics and books,and adores them, despite having⌠actually lived a sci-fi adventure⌠literallyhis whole lifeâŚ
-how each of the boys, and then April, took their new nameshad to do with the books and bizarre timekeeping policies that came from adistant planet that Splinter found at one point and became taken with.
-Raph keeps pets, but not often, since he outlives them alland it feels like they die too quickly to make the pain worth it.
-when they found him, Mikey hadnât ever met another gem. It wasâŚan experience. For everyone involved.
-the first time Donnie met Leo and Raph, he kicked Raph hardenough he fell down a cliff. Then Leo too. That was also an experience foreveryone involved.
-gardening is a hobby everyone eventually gets involved in.Since the planet they spend the most time on is mostly uninhabited, they cancreate enormous gardens and come back in a few years to see how things haveprogressed. The perks of living extremely long lives, am I right?
-fusion is an iffy subject at first, because everyone isstill shaking off the old social ideals of the empire, but eventually itbecomes a very regular occurrence. The first ones to fuse are Leo and Mikey,because of a dire situation. I havenât decided their fusion gem quite yet, but Iâllget to it.
-no one is sure why Caseyâs weapon is a hockey stick, or⌠all that clear on what that really is⌠but thatdoesnât stop Casey from using it in battle. And during their down time. Andpretty much constantly.
-Donnie gets reunited with an old, dear friend at somepoint. Itâs an important reunion, since this person helped him find theconfidence to own himself, and belong to no one.
-Aprilâs past is something she keeps hidden for a longwhile, until they find a ship that has information in its mainframe about her,and what she was designed to doâŚ
-sleeping piles happen multiple times, okay? Even if somemembers of the pile donât actually sleep during it.
 â-
Thatâs about it for now. I should get back to this AU, sincea lot of it is really wholesome and full of friendship things, and a lot moreof it is about insecurities and hidden pasts and self-image issues. All things Iadore. :3c
