omg you all really do love me.... (theres another ask but i hit the 30 image limit so pretend theres another one here sorry). this is gonna be all over the place cause im like that. if this gets over 100 notes ill make a cross shrine in my room
OK!!!!!!! CROSS SANS TIME....
GRGRGRHRHRHHRN OKAY FIRST OF ALL. FROM AN OBJECTIVE STANDPOINT HE WAS MONUMENTAL TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS FANDOM. HE IS PART OF LITERALLY THE FANDOMS BIGGEST PROJECT(S) (UNDERVERSE AND XTALE THE SERIES). HIS EXISTENCE IS LITERALLY THE REASON THIS FANDOM HAS THRIVED FOR SO LONG AFTER SO MANY YEARS. UNDERVERSE IS KEY TO THE FANDOMS SURVIVAL AND CROSS IS A CORE PART OF IT.
HIS STORY IS A FUCKING MASTERPIECE. YEAH I MIGHT BE BIASED BUT SHUT UP. HIS STORY BROUGHT TOGETHER A LOT OF THE FANDOMS IDEAS IN A VISUAL SENSE LIKE NEVER BEFORE. HE EXISTS IN A WORLD THAT IS SO FAR FROM UNDERTALE YET NOT FAR ENOUGH TO BE LIKE DREAMTALE. HE HELPED ESTABLISH THE UNDERTALE MULTIVERSE AS A WHOLE. HE IS A PRODUCT OF A WORLD MADE BY A MEGALOMANIAC (get it) THAT HAS GONE THROUGH TEN WHOLE REBIRTHS. THOUGH HE WASNT A CORE PART OF IT UNTIL THE END OF TIMELINE X, HE ALSO PLAYED A SIGNIFICANT PART IN TIMELINE 2 WHERE HE AND FRISK DEVELOPED THEIR FIRST FRIENDSHIP WITH EACH OTHER AND THEN HE DIED AND AND. CROSS IS SO FAR FROM WHO HE WAS IN EVERY PAST REBIRTH. TIMELINE 1 IS JUST A COPY PASTE OF SANS. TIMELINE 2 IS SOME WEIRD AMALGAMATION OF SANS AND SWAP. TIMELINE 9 (I FORGOT THE ROMAN NUMERAL) STRAYS MORE TOWARDS CLASSIC SANS THAN NOT. AND TIMELINE X HE IS FULL SWAP. AND THAT MUST BE FUCKING WILD TO EXPERIENCE BECAUSE WHILE HE DIDNT GET THE MEMORIES OF PREVIOUS TIMELINES LIKE THE OTHER AU INHABITANTS DID HE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE PREVIOUS TIMELINE REBIRTHS AND AND AND
HES A SWAP. HE IS A SWAP SANS. AND ILL DRILL THIS INTO YOUR MIND AS OFTEN AS I NEED TO. HE IS A SWAP SANS. HE EATS TACOS. HE HAS STARS FOR EYES. THINGS FLY OVER HIS HEAD. HE IS PHYSICALLY STRONG BUT NOT THAT SMART. HE MWEHEHEHS (KIND OF IMPLIED). COME ON DUDE. STOP FORGETTING THIS. MAKE HIM MWEHEHEH MORE. MAKE HIM STAR-EYES MORE WHEN CLASSICS JUST,,, DONT. I NEED THERE TO BE DIFFERENCES CUZ THERES SO MUCH POTENTIAL THERE COME ONNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
AAND THATS NOT EVEN TOUCHING ON HIS CHILDHOOD. HE WAS DEADASS VERBALLY AND PHYSICALLY ABUSED BY XGASTER AND HEAVILY NEGLECTED AND WE IGNORE THIS FOR WHY??? HE WAS BEAT AS A KID HELLO??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??! STOP MAKING HIM AN ALPHA GRR MALE AND BREAK DOWN THE WALLS HE WAS FORCED TO BUILD SINCE CHILDHOOD AND GIVE HIM A GOODDAMN SMORE ON A STICK AND WEIGHTED BLANKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what a perfectly healthy and normal way to look at your father
HE IS MY FAVORITE TO PROJECT ONTO HIM. HE GREW UP IN THE HOUSE OF A CONTROL FREAK WHO WAS NOT AGAINST USING PHYSICAL VIOLENCE AGAINST A CHILD SO YOUNG THEY HAVE TO USE A FUCKING STEP-STOOL TO REACH THE BATHROOM SINK. HOW FUCKED UP IS THAT. HE IS LITERALLY THE PERFECT PROJECTION DOLL. SUFFERED CHILDHOOD TRAUMA? CROSS IS YA BOY. MAKE HIM SUFFER. CAUSE HE ALREADY HAS. I CAN MAKE HIM HAVE MY PTSD SYMPTOMS ALL I WANT CUZ HES ME FR!!!!!!
ALSO ALPHYS IS HIS SISTER HOLY SHIT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT MORE??? "OHH BUT TECHNICALLY ALPHYS ISNT AND XPAPYRUS SAID-" THEY GREW UP TOGETHER. WITH THE SAME MAN RAISING THEM. IN THE SAME HOUSE. THEY WENT AS GROUPS TO THINGS. THEY LIKELY WENT TO THE SAME SCHOOLS. THEY SAT AT THE DINNER TABLE TOGETHER. THEY PLAYED TOGETHER. THEY HUNG OUT WITH THE SAME FRIENDS AT THE SAME TIME. ALPHYS HAS A SPECIAL CARE FOR CROSS THAT SHE DOESNT SHOW FOR MOST OTHERS. AND SHES A LESBIAN SO DONT TWIST IT TO BE LIKE A CRUSH OR SOMETHING. THEY R SIBLINGS. THEYRE JUST FLAT OUT SIBLINGS. YEAH PAPYRUS SAID THEYRE NOT BUT PAPYRUS ALSO HAS DISTANCED HIMSELF A LOT FROM HIS FAMILY OVER THE YEARS MEANWHILE CROSS STAYED PUT MORE OFTEN THAN NOT. PAPYRUS HATES XGASTER AND HAS SHOWN THAT DISDAIN MANY MANY MANY MANY TIMES--EVEN EXTENDING THAT DISDAIN TOWARDS ALPHYS HERSELF. HE ONLY STAYS CONNECTED WITH CROSS AND I KNOW DAMN WELL A GOOD CHUNK OF HIS REASONING FOR THAT IS BECAUSE THEY LITERALLY WORK TOGETHER. CROSS HAS ALSO SHOWN THE DISDAIN FOR XGASTER BUT ALSO HOLDS A TYPE OF LONGING AND FEAR IN REFERENCE TO HIS FATHER. PLEASE. PLEASE. COME ON. GIVE ME THIS.
ALPHYS IS LITERALLY HIS SISTER. THEYRE SIBLINGS. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. THERES SO MUCH POTENTIAL THERE. HES THE ONLY SANS TO HAVE A SISTER. THE ONLY SANS THAT SEES ALPHYS AS A SISTER. HOW ISOLATED MUST THAT MAKE HIM FEEL. NOT ONLY IS HIS AU SUCH AN AMALGAMATION THAT HE CANT CORRECTLY RELATE WITH CLASSICS OR SWAPS, BUT HE CANT EVEN RELATE TO ANYONE ABOUT ALPHYS. WILD SHIT.
OKAY ANYWAY. AFTER EVERYTHING CROSS WENT THROUGH AS A KID EVENTUALLY HE DISCOVERED HIS DAD WASNT JUST AN ABUSIVE POS BUT ALSO THAT HE CONTROLS THE VERY WORLD HE LIVES IN AND THAT HE IS JUST A SMALL PART OF SOMETHING MUCH GREATER, ONLY INTRODUCED BECAUSE HE TRUSTED FRISK ENOUGH FOR HIM TO CHOOSE CROSS OUT OF EVERYONE. THAT EVERYTHING ABOUT THE WORLD HE LIVES IN IS BECAUSE OF HIS SHITASS DAD. AND HES CONFUSED AND HES ANGRY. AND HIS WORLDVIEW IS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. EVERYTHING HE KNEW WAS A LIE AND HE WAS ALWAYS UNDER XGASTER'S CONTROL. HOW FUCKED UP MUST THAT BE TO REALIZE. ALSO HE WAS STABBED A LOT BY HIS BEST FRIEND. DUDE LOST HIS SENSE OF EVERYTHING. SENSE OF SELF, OF WHO HE CAN TRUST, FAMILY, ETC. AND IT WAS EVEN MORE DRIVEN IN WHEN UNDYNE AND PAPYRUS LITERALLY ATTEMPTED TO KILL HIM. HELLO???
AND. CROSS' OWN NAME. HIS NAME WAS SANS FOR MOST OF HIS LIFE, BUT NOW HE CALLS HIMSELF CROSS AND WILL INSIST THAT NAME IS USED FOR HIM AT ALL TIMES (i know what you are...it fucken transgemder...). BUT THATS NOT. BUT THATS NOT EVEN CONSIDERING THE ONLY REASON HE GOT THAT NAME WAS BECAUSE OF FRISK SEMI-TAUNTING HIM WHILE CROSS WAS IN THE MIDST OF DYING IN HIS DREAM WORLD. THE ONLY THING CROSS HAS LEFT OF HIS BEST FRIEND IS THE NAME HE WAS GIVEN WHILST BLEEDING OUT FROM LIKE 20 STAB WOUNDS. AND YET CROSS IDENTIFIES WITH THAT NAME SO PAINFULLY MUCH HE WILL PHYSICALLY FIGHT AND KICK AND SCREAM TO HAVE IT USED. THE NAME SANS USED FOR HIM MAKES HIM RECOIL.
AND HIS DYNAMIC WITH CHARA??? PAINFULLY UNDERUSED SO SO PAINFULLY UNDERUSED. OH MY GOD. THEY COULD BE THE BROTHERS EVER BUT NOOO YOU HATE CHARA!!!!!! THEY BOTH WENT THROUGH SO MUCH FROM XGASTER AND LOST EVERYTHING THEY LOVE AND CARE ABOUT. BOTH WERE CLOSE TO FRISK. BOTH WERE ABUSED. IF YOU KEEP THE SCAR AND THE RED EYE YOU GOTTA KEEP CHARA THATS THE RULES MAN. SAYING HES LOCKED AWAY IS COWARD SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!
CHARA AND HE HAVE FUN BANTER. THEYRE EXCITING. EVERY FIC WITH CHARA WAS A BETTER READ AUTOMATICALLY BECAUSE I LOVE SEEING THEIR DYNAMIC AND ALSO I LOVE CHARA. THE WAY THEY BOTH HAVE DEVELOPED AS PEOPLE FOLLOWING THEIR TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCES AND ACROSS THE DURATION OF THE X-EVENT IS WILD AND AND AND I LOVE IT. THE PARALELLS BETWEEN CROSS AND CHARA, AND CHARA AND XGASTER. THERE IS SO MUCH HURT COMFORT POTENTIAL HELLO?? AND ANGST LIKE. IMAGINE HAVING TO STAY STILL AND NOT REACT AS A GHOST TEENAGER HURLS INSULTS AT YOU THAT HURT DEEPLY, TRYING TO GET A REACTION. IMAGINE THAT SAME GHOST TEENAGER SILENTLY CRYING TO HIMSELF WHEN HE THINKS YOURE ASLEEP. IMAGINE GOING TO A SECLUDED PLACE AND YELLING AT THAT GHOST TEENAGER THAT FOLLOWS YOU AROUND AFTER A DAY OF HAVING TO IGNORE HIM. IMAGINE THAT GHOST TEENAGER WITHHOLDING INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR PAST LIVES. IMAGINE THAT GHOST TEENAGER AND YOU TALKING THINGS OUT. IMAGINE THAT GHOST TEENAGER NAGGING YOU TO EAT CHICKEN NUGGETS BECAUSE HE REALLY WANTS CHICKEN NUGGETS BUT HE CANT CONTROL THE BODY SO CROSS HAS TO EAT THEM FOR HIM SO HE GETS THE SENSATION OF EATING AND THE TASTE OF SAID NUGGIES. IMAGINE BEING INJURED AND THE GHOST TEENAGER WHO HAS YELLED AT YOU MORE TIMES THAN YOU CAN COUNT IS TRYING TO KEEP YOU FOCUSED AND AWAKE AND WHILE HE CANT TOUCH YOU HES TRYING HIS BEST TO COMFORT YOU THE BEST WAY HE CAN BECAUSE YOU JUST STARTED TO UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER DAMMIT, YOU CANT DIE NOW. IMAGINE THAT GHOST TEENAGER REALIZING HE'S ACTING LIKE HIS ABUSIVE DAD WHEN HE YELLS AT CROSS WHAT XGASTER ONCE YELLED AT HIM. IMAGINE THAT GHOST TEENAGER POKING FUN AT CROSS' MISTAKES AND BEING LIKE AN ANNOYING LITTLE BROTHER. IMAGINE THEM DEFENDING EACH OTHERS' NAMES DESPITE THEIR DIFFERENCES BC THEYRE BROTHERS AND THATS WHAT BROTHERS DO. PLEEAAASEEEE.
ALSO THE POTENTIAL HE HAS WITH TORIEL IS REALLY CUTE AND IGNORED. SHES KIND OF LIKE A MOTHER FIGURE TO HIM IDK.... HE DESERVES A MOM I FEEL. EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS MORE LIKE AN AUNT (asriel calls xgaster "uncle") I REALLY LOVE THE IDEA OF THE DREEMURRS BEING PARENTAL TO CROSS. I MEAN. LOOK AT THEM.
HE AND METTATON ARE SO FUNNY TOO BECAUSE THEY HATE EACH OTHERS GUTS SO MUCH. WHICH IS WILD BECAUSE CROSS IS FRISK'S BEST FRIEND, YET METTATON WAS MADE TO PROTECT FRISK. BUT THEY HATE EACH OTHER. AND ITS SO FUNNY. do you think cross is curt with literally every mettaton he sees out of habit. i mean come on LOOK AT THEM. THEYRE SO STUPID.
ALSO CROSS IS SO FUCKING SHORT OH MY GOD. HES 4 FOOT 7 (i thought he was 5 feet until a few days ago cuz that was his old height). i need you to process this. like actually. i am 5'5. i would be 9 inches taller than him. i would be nine inches taller than him. 4'11? 4 inches taller than his tiny ass. he is literally so small. PLEASE make him tiny more often ill be so appreciative. he needs help reaching the cabinets
HES ALSO A FUCKING CUTIE PATOOTIE. HES GOT LITTLE FANGS. HES GOT FANGS!! BITEY BOYS!!!!!!!!! HES GOT FANGS AND THEYRE SHARP!! HE PROBABLY BITES HIS TONGUE SO VERY MUCH!!!!!!!! BITEY BOY. HE WAS A BITER AS A KID TOO. COME ON. EVEN IN UNDERVERSE HES GOT BIG ASS FANGS. ITS NOT JUST A STYLE CHOICE HES LITERALLY A BITEY BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HES GOT SHARP TEETHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he probably needed chew toys as a kid (so did i)`
AND HIS MOUTH. THE WAY ITS ALEWAYS LIKE THIS. HES ALWAYS GOT THAT STUPID LITTLE CHEEK. HE JUST. HES SO.. RGGRGRGRGGRGRROWLS I LOVE HIM!! HE IS SO SILLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND HES SO SMUG TOO ALL THE TIME. HE HAS SOME SUPERIORITY COMPLEX AT ALL TIMES. LOOK AT HIS SMUG FUCKING FACE. LOOK AT HIM. DUMBASS. HE DOES THIS SIGNATURE BASTARD THING WHERE HE TURNS HIS HEAD TO THE SIDE WITH A SCOFF. HE IS SO PRISSY. SO UPTIGHT ALL THE TIME. GOD
hes such a FUCKING MENACE TOO. LOOK AT THIS ASSHOLE.
HES TERRIBLE. HES SUCH A DICK. HES A MENACE AND SHOULD BE KEPT ON A LEASH. HES A SMUG IDIOT WHO THINKS HES BETTER THAN SO MANY PEOPLE AND HE IS MEAN AND SORT OF FULL OF HIMSELF AND DEFINITELY ACTS LIKE MOST PEOPLE FROM THE MILITARY IVE MET. which is fitting because hes FROM THE XTALE MILITARY. "ROYAL GUARD" IN XTALE IS JUST DEADASS THE MILITARY. HIS STUPID SELF WENT TO BOOT CAMP. AND YET HES LIKE THIS. AWFUL. HES MEAN TO KIDS. HE LITERALLY STOLE A CHILD'S CHOCOLATE MILK. WHO DOES THAT. APPARENTLY CROSS DOES.
HE IS JUST. CANONICALLY AWFUL TO KIDS. HES NEEDLESSLY JUST. MEAN TO THEM. FOR NO REASON. HE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE KIDS. WASNT GIVEN A GOOD EXAMPLE. TERRIBLE BABYSITTER. BUT ALSO HE'D CANONICALLY LOVE HIS DAUGHTER IF HE EVER HAD ONE.... HE DOESNT WANNA TREAT HIS CHILD LIKE HIS DAD TREATED HIM.... SIGHS... HE CALLS HIS DAUGHTER HIS PRINCESS WTF,,, HES A CUTIE PIE.!!!!!!!!!!! HE NEEDS 2 WORK THINGS OUT :(
AND AND AND. THE LITTLE WAYS HE CHOOSES TO REBEL. LIKE HIS NEW TERRIBLE AS HELL OUTFIT WITH THE BOOB WINDOW. WHICH I DONT LIKE. BUT ITS A WAY FOR HIM TO REBEL AGAINST WHAT HES FORCED TO BE HIS ENTIRE LIFE YADDA YADDA. THE OLD OUTFIT WAS BETTER BUT THE SYMBOLISM HERE IS NEAT. ANYWAY. THE LEFTOVER FEELINGS AND RAGE AND ANGER HE HAS FOR HIS FATHER BUT THE LONGING TO BE ACCEPTED AND LOVED BY HIM?!?!??!?!?!?! COME ON GUYS. WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS. WE CAN MAKE HIM HAVE MORE DADDY ISSUES
HE IS SO CONFLICTING FEELINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! INTOXICATED ASSHOLE WANTS A HUG FROM HIS DAD BUT ALSO HATES HIS DAD SOOOOOOOOO MUCH.
ALSO LOOK AT HIM AS A DUMB CUTE LITTLE BABY. BABY BOY. FAT USELESS INFANT. ADORABLE. I LOVE HIM
HE DOESNT KNOW ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOTHING AT ALL!!! SWEET BABY BOY...... HE KNOWS NOT OF THE HORRORS THAT AWAIT HIM!!!!!!
and hes a CRYBABY TOO AND I LOVE THAT FOR HIM. GRGHRGRRGRHWOLOWLSS
he was BORN A CRYBABY AND THATS HOW HE'LL DIE!!! AND NOBODY UTILIZES THIS BTW. IVE GOT LIKE FOUR OR FIVE OTHER PHOTOS OF HIM JUST CRYING IN SITUATIONS WHERE CRYING ISNT WARRANTED. BUT HE DOES. HE CRIES WHEN HE IS MILDLY FRUSTRATED. HE CRIES WHEN HE IS MILDLY ASHAMED. WHERE IS HIM CRYING OVER STUPID SHIT. WHERE IS HIM TAKING A JOKE TOO PERSONALLY AND HE TEARS UP AGAINST HIS WILL. WHERE IS HIM SOBBING IN HIS ROOM OVER SOMETHING SOMEONE SAID IN PASSING THAT HIT TOO HARD. WHY DOESNT HE CRY MORE. YOURE ALL PUSSIES. MAKE HIM CRY MORE OFTEN. CRYBABY CROSS. HE DESERVES 2 BE ONE AFTER BEING WARPED INTO AN ALPHA MALE FOR THE PAST EIGHT GODDAMN YEARS. FUCK
AND AND AND THATS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO TOUCHING HIS FANON INTERACTIONS WHICH I LOVE JUST AS MUCH. HOW EVERYONE INSTANTLY DECIDED HED HAVE A RIVALRY WITH KILLER GIVEN HOW CROSS IS EASY TO RILE UP AND FRUSTRATE WHILE KILLER IS THE BUTTON PUSHER?? GREAT SHIT. ALL OF YOU. GOOD JOB. ITS FUCKING BRILLIANT. THANK YOU.
CROSS JOINING NIGHTMARE'S GROUP IS MY FAVORITE INTERPETATION. SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE I KNOW HE WOULDNT WANT TO. CROSS IS FUCKED UP BUT HE HAS MORALS, HE STILL FOLLOWS THE ROYAL GUARD CODE MENTALLY. HE DOESNT LIKE KILLING. HE DOESNT AGREE WITH NEEDLESS MURDER. HE CAN HARM, SURE, BUT ALL THE DEATH WAS XCHARA'S DIRECT ACTIONS OR HEAVY INFLUENCE (love u xchara). CROSS WOULD LOATHE TO JOIN NIGHTMARES GROUP AS A LACKEY WHO GOES AROUND KILLING PEOPLE FOR NO GAIN TOWARDS HIMSELF. HE DOES WHAT HE DOES TO GET HIS AU BACK. JOINING NIGHTMARE'S TEAM WITH NO HELP TOWARDS THAT GOAL WOULD BE HELL ON HIM, EVEN IN A FANON SETTING. BECAUSE HE'D HATE IT. HE'S GONE FROM A RIGHTEOUS ROYAL GUARD WHO HELPED THOSE IN NEED TO SOMEONE WHO LIVES WITH A GROUP OF MURDERERS AND AIDS THEM IN THEIR KILLING OF INNOCENTS. i like to think cross doesnt kill, like he just. refuses to. he will hurt and incapacitate, but he doesn't kill. and he also refuses to harm children, papyri, alphys, whatever. there were times where he couldve killed one of the stars but he didn't and idk i like that. i like it when hes like that.
I ALSO LOVE FANON AND CANON DYNAMICS WITH NM'S GROUP EITHER AS A WHOLE OR AS INDIVIDIUALS. I LOVE KROSS SO OBVIOUSLY KILLER AND CROSS' DYNAMIC IS MY FAVORITE. I LOVE RIVALS. I LOVE PEOPLE WHO CANT STAND EACH OTHER. I LOVE IT WHEN KILLER BUGS CROSS UNTIL HE SNAPS AND THATS WHEN THEIR DYNAMIC GETS MORE INTERESTING. I LOVE IT WHEN CROSS GETS RILED UP AND ANGRY. I LOVE IT WHEN HES MAD AND GOT ISSUES. I LOVE IT WHEN KILLER EGGS HIM ON BECAUSE ITS FUNNY. I LOVE WHEN THEY REACH A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING.
HORROR AND DUST... MAN. I LOVE DUST AND CROSS' DYNAMIC THE MOST OUT OF THE TWO JUST CAUSE DUST IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. THEY BOTH HAVE GHOST BROTHERS (EVEN IF ONE ISNT EXACTLY REAL). DUST IS PARANOID AND JITTERY BUT MOST OF ALL QUIET, HE DOESNT PICK FIGHTS LIKE KILLER DOES SO CROSS LIKES HIM FOR THAT. THEY HANG AROUND IN SILENCE I THINK,,,
HORROR MAKES CROSS THINK OF HOME IN A WAY BECAUSE OF HOW HE COOKS AND WHAT HE COOKS. HORROR IS VERY RUMBLY AND SORT OF LIKE A GREAT DANE AND DEFINITELY VERY INTIMIDATING AT FIRST. HE SCARED OFF CROSS SO SO MUCH AT FIRST. I THINK CROSS ASKING HIM TO MAKE LIKE TACOS OR A BUTTERSCOTCH CINNAMON PIE WAS WHEN THEY STARTED 2 GET CLOSER. BUT THATS CAUSE I LOVE THEM AS A SHIP TOO SO YOU MIGHT BE GETTING SOME UNDERTONES. THATS WHY. HOWEVER THERES ALSO ANGST POTENTIAL GIVEN THE DIFFERENCE IN THEIR ALPHYS'. HORROR LOBOTOMIZED HER. CROSS WAS RAISED ALONGSIDE HER. LOVELY
NIGHTMARE IS A SUPER COOL CHARACTER IN UNDERVERSE I FEEL. NOT JUST BECAUSE HE IS VIOLENCE ITSELF BUT BECAUSE OF HOW MANIPULATIVE HE WAS. IN CANON IT WOULDNT BE TOO HARD TO MANIPULATE CROSS INTO FULLY JOINING, EXCEPT IN UNDERVERSE HE DIDNT HAVE A TEAM, JUST KILLER. IF HE DID, I DONT DOUBT HE COULD MANIPULATE CROSS INTO JOINING. CROSS HAD LOST EVERYTHING, AND HE WOULD DO ANYTHING TO GET HIS WORLD, HIS FAMILY, BACK. IN FANON, NIGHTMARE IS A LOT MORE A "take you under my wing" KIND OF FIGURE I THINK!!!!!!!!!! HE CARES FOR CROSS IN THAT REGARD, TAKING IN A STUBBORN SOLDIER WHO LOST AS MUCH AS THE OTHER MEMBERS OF HIS TEAM. EITHER WAY I LIKE HIM. I THINK CROSS WOULD HATE HIS GUTS IN CANON, BECAUSE. HE DOES. YEAH. BUT IN A MORE FANON SETTING CROSS WOULD BE PAINFULLY LOYAL EVEN IF IT HURT HIM, BECAUSE CROSS IS USED TO SURRENDERING HIMSELF TO LOYALTY. HIS MORALS, HIS WANTS, NOTHING MATTERS WHEN HE HAS A JOB TO DO AND SOMEONE TO PLEASE. NIGHTMARE COULD VERY WELL BE THAT, THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CANONMARE AND FANONMARE IS HOW NM REACTS.
AND EPIC. I LOVE YOU EPIC. I LOVE HIS DYNAMIC WITH EPIC. I LOVE HOW CROSS KNEW EPIC AND THEN FORGOT. AND THEN MET HIM AGAIN AND AND. GRGRRHRHH. HOW THEY WERE FRIENDS IN ANOTHER LIFE AND THEYRE FRIENDS IN THIS ONE TOO. HOW DESPITE HOW DIFFERENT CROSS IS NOW, EPIC STAYS. I LOVE HOW THEYRE CASUAL BESTIES. I LOVE HOW THEYRE SILLY TOGETHER AND WATCH EACH OTHER DO STUPID SHIT AND EGG EACH OTHER ON. I LOVE HOW THEYRE DUMB TOGETHER AND MAKE SILLY JOKES AND WATCH ANIME AND MAKE SILLY REFERENCES. I LOVE THEM. EVERYONE IS PROBABLY SO TIRED OF THEM. THEYRE SO DUMB AND SILLY AND GRGRRHRRHHRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEYRE BESTIES. THEYRE THE DUMBEST BESTEST FRIENDS. CROSS ONLY EVER TRULY UNWINDS AND LETS HIS GUARD DOWN WHEN EPIC'S AROUND AND THERES SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT THAT. SOULMATES I TELL U.......
THE STARS!!! COULDNT FINISH THIS POST WITHOUT MENTIONING THEM. CROSS' DYNAMIC WITH THEM ISNT SOMETHING I FOCUS ON TOO-TOO MUCH NORMALLY BUT HERE WE GO!!!!
HIM AND SWAP FIRST. CROSS RELATES MORE TO SWAP THAN HE DOES MOST OTHER SANSES BECAUSE CROSS IS A SWAP. THIS IS KIND OF CANON TOO. WHILE CROSS FINDS A LOT OF CLASSIC BEHAVIORS DETESTABLE (ie drinking condiments or overall being lazy), SWAP IS LIKE HIM IN THAT REGARD. THEYRE BESTIES. THEY INTERACT A LOT OUTSIDE OF THEIR BRIEF CANON MEETING. JAKEI DRAWS THEM LOTS,,,,, SIGHS,,, I THINK THEYD BE GOOD FRIENDS EVEN IF CROSS ISNT IN THE STARS, LIKE A TRUCE AU OR JUST WHERE CROSS DOESNT ALIGN HIMSELF WITH ANY TEAM OR EVEN WHERE CROSS DOES, BUT THIS SWAP ISNT THE SAME ONE ON THE STARS' TEAM. THEYD BE SUPER CLOSE FRIENDS I THINK... au where cross is on nm's team but hangs out with a random swap from an unaffected timeline to destress between jobs, but that swap ends up being the one in the stars and idk. beginning of a truce or something much worse. u decide
DREAM!!!!! I DONT LIKE CREAM BUT I LOVE THEIR DYNAMIC IN CANON IN A PLATONIC WAY. I THINK THEYD BE FRIENDS. DREAM INSPIRES HOPE IN CROSS IN A WAY THAT HE THOUGHT HE LOST, REMINDING HIM OF HIS ROOTS AND HIS SENSE OF BELONGING IN THE ROYAL GUARD. WHICH IS A SCENE THAT MADE ME TEAR UP. THAT KIND OF HOPE IS JUST WHAT CROSS NEEDED IN THE MOMENT AND I FEEL DREAM COULD BE A REALLY GOOD GENUINE MORAL SUPPORT IN THAT REGARD. A GOOD INFLUENCE THAT CROSS 100% NEEDS. IF CROSS IS ON NM'S TEAM, DREAM IS THE ONE THAT MAKES CROSS HESITATE EVERY TIME DREAM OFFERS AND CROSS IS ABOUT TO DENY.
INK. WOULDNT BE A CROSS POST WITHOUT A LITTLE BIT OF INK WOULD IT. INK AND CROSS ARE SO DIVORCEES I THINK. BOTH WERE MANIPULATED BY XGASTER, ALTHOUGH CROSS WAS TREATED AHEM A LOT MORE POORLY. INK IS A REMINDER OF CROSS' PAST AND HIS TIME SPENT IN THE REMAINS OF HIS AU, IN ISOLATION. YET INK WAS ALSO HIS FRIEND. INK MEANT THE WORLD TO HIM BACK THEN. AND INSTINCTUALLY CROSS STILL DEFENDS HIM, EVEN IF HES ANGRY AND HATES INK FOR WHAT HE DID. THEYRE FULL OF CONFLICTING FEELINGS. AND I LOVE BOTH EQUALLY WHERE THEY EITHER TALK THINGS OUT OR WHERE IT STEWS FOREVER.
I ALSO REALLY LOVE JAKEIS DEVELOPMENT OF HIM. AT FIRST HE WAS A VERY ANGRY CHARACTER WHO WAS SORT OF DISSOCIATING AND IN A TERRIBLE MENTAL STATE (TO WHERE IF HE WAS ABLE TO USE THE OVERWRITE BUTTON AT THE TIME OF BEING TRAPPED IN THE REMAINS OF HIS AU HE WOULD HAVE DESTROYED HIS BODY AND ANY CHANCE OF FIXING THE AU BECAUSE HE IS SO OUT OF IT MENTALLY). AND HE REMAINED ANGRY FOR A GOOD BIT. AND THEN GOT EMO AND SAD. AND THEN HE GOT TIRED. AND NOW HES BACK TO BEING ANGRY AGAIN MOST LIKELY GIVEN THE FEW SNEAK PEAKS IVE SEEN OF THE NEXT UNDERVERSE EP. IM EXCITED TO SEE HOW HE REACTS TO SEEING XGASTER AGAIN. IM ALSO MOSTLY EXCITED FOR HIS OLD OUTFIT BEING BACK. I DIDNT LIKE THE BOOB WINDOW OR SLEEVELESS JOCK GETUP. SORRY CROSS
CAPSLOCK IS GONNA BE THE DEATH OF ME
OKAY. ANYWAY. HIS KNIFE THE BIG RED KNIFE. I MISS IT SO MUCH. THAT KNIFE INFLUENCED MY CHARACTER DESIGN FOR AGES. HES EDGY AND EMO AND I MISS THE KNIFE. THERE WAS SOMETHING ICONIC TO ME ABOUT IT. BIG RED KNIFE IS STILL CANON.... XCHARA COME BACK... I NEED U TO KNIFE HIM UP AGAIN...
AND AND AND. AND. CROSS!!!! HES PERFECT TO PROJECT ANYTHING ONTO. HES PERFECT TO WRITE ANGST OF. AND COMFORT I GUESS. HES MY FAVORITE CHARACTER TO WRITE THE DEHUMANIZATION OF BECAUSE HE EVEN CALLS HIMSELF A DOG AT ONE POINT IN UNDERVERSE. HELLO???? THERE WAS A POST THAT WENT LIKE "submissive in the way a dog is submissive to the sheep it kills coyotes for" THATS CROSS. THOSE IMAGES WHERE ITS A NOSTALGIC PICTURE OF A DOG/WOLF WITH TEXT IN A TYPEWRITER FONT ABOUT LOYALTY BEING THE DEATH OF YOU? CROSS. "IM NOT A VIOLENT DOG I DONT KNOW WHY I BITE" "I WONT WAIT FOR YOU, I BITE"? CROSS. CROSS CROSS CROSS. HE IS PERFECT BECAUSE HE IS ANGRY AND HE IS VIOLENT BUT HE IS HURTING. AND HE HURTS SO GODDAMN MUCH.
ID ADD SO MANY MORE IMAGES BUT I HIT THE 30 IMAGE LIMIT?!?!?!?!? PLEASE TELL ME U KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT THO.... PLEASE.... COME ON.......
I LOVE CROSS SO MUCH. I REALLY DO. HES MY BESTEST BOY EVER. I WOULD SAY GOOD BOY AND HE WOULD TREMBLE. I JUST REALIZED HOW SUGGESTIVE THAT SOUNDED. TAKE THAT AS YOU WILL I GUESS. ANYWAY YES CROSS SANS
I LOVE HIM. HES MY FAVORITE. I LOVE HIM AND HIS DYNAMICS WITH OTHER CHARACTERS. I LOVE HIM AND HIS STORY. I LOVE HIM AND HIS STUPID HABITS. HIS DAILY STRUGGLE TO GET DRESSED BC HES STUPID AND THE OUTFIT IS COMPLICATED. THE WAY HE CRIES SO MUCH. HIS STUPID FACE. HIS SMUG ASS STANCE. HIS STRAIGHT FUCKING POSTURE. THE WAY HES AN ASSHOLE TO EVERYONE WHO DOESNT HOLD DIRECT POWER OVER HIM. THE WAY HES DEVELOPED AS A CHARACTER OVER THE YEARS. I LOVE HIM.
THIS ISNT EVEN ALL OF IT. BUT ITS GETTING SO LONG IM JUST. GONNA END HERE. LMFAO. OK THATS IT
BYEBYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

yknow, how can we be absolutely sure that the creation of his that gaster fell into was the core?
of course, there isn’t always a need for repeating the name, and toby could mean that the core was what gaster fell into, but i reeeally don’t think that’s what happened. i’ve talked before about how it’s possible gaster fell into a black hole (a likely accident from the creation of the machine in sans and papyrus’ basement, assumed to be a time machine), but here’s some other evidence:
geothermal energy is the thermal energy in the earth’s crust. it originates from the formation of the planet, as well as radioactive decay of materials in (uncertain but possibly) equal conditions. it’s very, very hot in temperature.
this would make sense, given undertale takes place in the underground - gaster would likely have harnessed geothermal energy and, as alphys says, convert it into magical electricity. she cuts herself off out of embarrassment so we don’t know much beyond the structure of the core and how it works, but it can be assumed that if it’s converted into magical electricity, this must aid in the function of living for monsters somehow. however, gaster is said to have been a slow worker, which could be why there aren’t as many monsters in the underground as we’d think (an easy way to save time for designing unique characters on toby’s behalf), as many of them could have died out due to poor living conditions.
but... how would gaster have shattered across time and space by falling into the core, something that as far as we know, only converts geothermal energy into magical electricity?
he “vanished.” he “shattered across time and space.”
(x)
this was gaster’s next experiment. this was after he created the core. negative photon readings, meaning there’s no light, and the darkness keeps growing - sounds pretty damn similar to a black hole. a black hole of this caliber could no doubt destroy a machine. and a common thing with time travel is black holes, given that many perceive them as actual “holes” and “tears in reality” rather than celestial bodies. if one were to avoid the singularity (a region where space-time becomes infinite), they could theoretically end up in a different space and time.
so gaster fell into a black hole, created by his time machine. whether it was on accident or he intended to do so is unclear. i don’t know why he would do so willingly, but in entry number 17 he doesn’t seem very worried about it. and - given that there is such a thing as the black hole information paradox - it makes sense as to why everyone would forget about gaster. because his information is lost to the outside universe, the universe that remains outside of the black hole.
what does this mean for deltarune? well, it’s entirely possible gaster could have entered more than just a different space and time... perhaps a new universe. with different rules. as toby said. there’s the theory of black holes creating new universes, purely hypothetical, but given that this is fiction we’re talking about it could be possible that this is the case.
is gaster the god of deltarune’s world? what role does he really play, given all of this speculation? what’s his goal, why is he doing this, if he even is? i don’t know. let me hear your thoughts though, i’d love to hear them
#inkling.txt#undertale#deltarune#meta#analysis#theory#wd gaster#gaster#alphys#honestly i know some ppl are tired of hearing abt gaster and how he may be associated with deltarune#and like. because its so convoluted. i kinda am tired myself bc i just wanna Know#but theres so much to analyze and this is why i made this post#bc when i made my first theory post i didnt know of toby's response to the question abt the machine#and i also forgot alphys said that thing about the core#anyways ik this is mostly undertale centric so feel free to talk to me abt undertale#but going forward with deltarune in terms of how gaster maaaayyy be associated with it (which he probably is lol)#talk to me abt that too id be interested

A Flower's Guide for Happy Endings - Chapter One
Spanish version: coming soon
Summary:
Flowey witnesses the aftermath of the human's journey across the Underground, and tries to make sense of his life now that he's not in control of the timeline. Will it last? Or will he take desperate measures?
Words: 3892
Read on AO3: Link here!
Flowey was still processing the last moments of his life as he left the human's side and watched them cross the Barrier, leaving the Underground behind. The child had chosen to give him mercy, time and time again. The nonsense of this action was so overwhelming, he fled. He didn't pay attention to his surroundings as he moved through the hallways of the King's Castle in New Home. He just kept going, emerging at times to look at a certain turn or wait for the right time to move his roots to another surface. It was almost a matter of reflexes to him. After so many resets, he felt like he could wander across the Underground with his eyes closed and he would know exactly where he was. Environments were something he wasn't able to change, at least not by himself. He didn't find the idea appealing, either. People were much more interesting to interact with... Until they weren't.
There was a wide range of things that could happen at any time in the Underground, and he had done pretty much everything. Some things never changed, though. The Amalgamates were never freed; it was more likely for Alphys to give up than for the truth inside the Lab to come out. Toriel never left the Ruins, no matter what you told her, or what happened outside the closed doors. Asgore never let him see the human souls, no matter how much he insisted. All his efforts were futile in a way, as none of it amounted to anything significant. All could be undone by his will, but not even those things he did held much meaning after a while. It was like watching the same simulation over and over again.
Flowey usually spent about a month or two at most messing around before resetting. In this timeline he had settled for waiting and not being an intervention as much as possible, until new days came by. It was incredibly boring, sadly. So he decided to do meaningless things to pass the time. Nothing much, not like pestering some Moldsmals ever achieved anything. He didn't kill, since that usually meant trouble, and the whole point of this was seeing a world without him. He also watched people he knew. Toriel carried on with her day; sometimes she fell asleep on her reading chair, with one too many cups of wine. Flowey may have given her some water one time, without a reason, simply to make an insignificant difference. Papyrus, a skeleton in Snowdin he had encountered after spying on the Royal Guard, was also an interesting monster to visit. He always had a remark or an anecdote for every place. He was full of such nonsense and contradictions, Flowey always got a laugh or two from his conversations. It was impossible not to play some tricks on him. Every once in a while he dropped predictions in their conversations, which the skeleton seemed to take very seriously at times.
And just when the timeline was starting to get too monotonous, he heard a loud noise on the Ruins, shortly after he had left checking on the flowers. That place.... it always reminded him of his sibling. Golden Flowers were their favorite. That day, at the Ruins, life took an unexpected turn: a human had fallen down, and with them, his control. Needless to say, he freaked out. Not only was this child a fallen human, they were just so much like them— but they couldn't be, could they? In the end. Flowey did what he knew best: got to know this human, acted nice, and then tested their reaction when he betrayed them. The stupid kid fell for his tricks, but Toriel stopped his movements, and took the child with her. The soulless monster, frustrated, tried to go back to his save point, yet he failed: another force was overwriting his mark in spacetime. From then, he decided to follow the human. and see what they did. Soon enough, he found out that the human was the one in control of the timeline, using it to get their way. Through the Ruins, the Snowdin cold, the dark Waterfall and the steaming Hotland, Flowey followed them, catching glimpses of their journey.
What came after the human spared King Asgore was a blur. His determination flowed in a chaotic way when he tried to reminisce about his attempt to take the human souls. It felt so good to have something within that wasn't just willpower fuel. He felt so good, so intense, so alive. That human kid was about to face his true power, to see what he was capable of doing. He had never met someone that could remember overwritten timelines like him, and he wasn't wasting his chance to make the most of it. But human souls are determined and that includes the six within him. They turned against him, and took him back to zero in moments. And then... well. He simply couldn't understand. His control was lost again. The human just needed one blow to finish him off, but they refused and crossed the Barrier. Why not even try? Why not give him the same pain? Why does it matter if he lives or not, anyways?
He was back in Snowdin town by the time his inner monologue had gone full circle, all caused by the human who’d come and gone in what felt like a mere blink. By the time he got to the town it was early night, the time many monsters had dinner. Snowdin had a system of streetlights that was usually too high for non-flying monsters to reach. They were powered by the CORE, and to tell apart day and night, they had set a gradual energy-saving mode that reduced the amount of lights during the night, synchronized with the time on the Surface. The lights were said to resemble stars. Real stars were prettier, but it did the job well enough for the thousands of monsters that had never seen the Surface.
Flowey was standing on a residential street, still muttering to himself, looking at the houses' windows filled with light and the smell of homemade food. He wasn't quick enough to hide after hearing a muffled voice and a door being bumped open. A yellow striped kid, holding a bag of trash with their mouth and on their way to the trashcan, gasped at Flowey and dropped the bag on the snow.
"The talking flower's real?!" They opened their eyes wide, like they had seen the surface. As Flowey tried to curl underground to leave, the monster child spoke. "Yo, don't leave! Papyrus told me about you!"
At the mention of the name, the soulless flower hesitated, then turned around "Howdy! I'm Flowey the flower.” He forced a grin. "And just what has he told you?" he asked, slightly squinting.
"Well..." The kid stared at a point beyond Flowey, thinking of their answer. "We just met today! I mean, I've seen him before, but we never, like, talked. I was on my way back to Snowdin after I left the human in Water— yo, did you hear a human showed up in town today? It's crazy!" They hopped excitedly, shaking their tail happily.
Flowey raised a brow and waved with one of the roots he pulled from the ground, signaling the kid to keep talking. He supposed hearing some gossip was good enough for now, until he figured out what to do now, or found a way to gain his control of the timeline again.
"I didn't know they were human at first, but man, they were so nice! I showed them some caverns in Waterfall on our way. I was so excited to see Undyne fight bad guys! But it turns out they, uhm, were the bad guy Undyne was going after?" They trailed off, looking for a way to follow their story. "She told me that the human was bad, that i could get hurt. And she tried to attack them! But they saved me so they can’t be bad! I had to show her! Yo I dunno what came over me, it felt like my heart was pounding out of my chest. But I told her, s-she would not. I was really scared, but I think it worked! And then I... left them to go home because my parents would worry if I was out late", they mumbled the last part, feeling their rush of energy decrease.
Flowey shot them an impatient glance. "Ok, got you. But when does Papyrus show up in all this?"
"Oh yeah! Right! We met when I was on my way to Snowdin. He said some things about using friendship for his duties as a future royal guardsman, and then we talked about Undyne. He said she is training him to be part of the guard- it sounds so cool! I wanna be just like him one day!" They hopped on one foot. "Then... I asked him about the friend stuff he said, and he told me he didn't have many friends, but Undyne was really close. And then he spoke of a talking flower, that had like, prediction powers. He said you gave encouragement, advice and stuff. I didn't think you were real, but man, was I wrong."
"Is that it?" Flowey raised a brow, getting tired of the kid's chatter. Maybe someone else would have liked talkative friends, but he had enough for that day, and frankly he just wanted to get healed. All the talking was making him dizzy.
"Yeah! It has to be you, right? Man, if we become friends I would break my friend-making record. Three people in one day! Yo this is so great." Their tail moved from side to side.
Flowey yawned, feigning sleepiness "Hey kid, it's nice talking, but don't you have anything better to do?" He pointed to the trashbag with his body.
"Oh right! I forgot. Thanks dude!" they said, picking up the bag with their teeth and walking to the trashcan on the sidewalk.
"Yeah, you don't want to get in trouble, right? I don't think your parents are very happy you went too far into Waterfall on your own with some stranger."
Flowey shrank a bit to appear smaller as the child walked towards him. "Before you leave, I need something. Do it for your new friend, wontcha? Can you get me a snack? I got in a friendly fight and my HP isn't the best right now. I could use some help." He pulled the most innocent smile he could, which was always convincing.
"Ok! Be right back, yo!" They dashed to their house and came out a minute later, pulling two cinnamon bunnies from their inventory and almost dropping them on the floor.
Flowey picked them up with his roots and saved them on his own inventory with a poof. "Thanks, kid!"
"Yeah, no problem Flowey!" They paused and then added "Yo, I forgot to tell you my name, it's M—" Before they had finished their sentence, the flower was gone, like it was never there.
As Flowey moved under the snow, he didn't notice the recent footsteps or the furry monster that made them as they made their way towards the Riverperson place.
Flowey emerged at the side of the skeleton brothers’ house, careful not to be seen. He took a cinnamon bunny, took a bite, and then tried to rest. Sleeping as a flower wasn't easy. It wasn't like laying down in a bed. He technically didn't need to sleep, as long as he had energy from the lights around him or food. As a plant, the most he could do was fold his petals on his face, and find a place where the wind wouldn't bother him and nobody would step on him by accident. Despite this, if he wanted to recover from his injuries, he needed to rest in order to restore his HP.
Flowey was making himself comfortable —as much as he could in a town like Snowdin—, when he heard a door shut strongly on the second floor of the house. It seemed people were at home. He moved closer to eavesdrop on them, but it wasn't necessary, as the speakers were loud enough on their own.
"So... I'm staying here tonight, right? Until I fix my house."
"YOU'RE ALWAYS WELCOME TO STAY HERE, BUT YES, WE'LL FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE HOUSE TOMORROW!"
"When do you think the human's coming back? Do you think they'll stay at the inn?
"IT'S WHAT I EXPECT, BUT MAYBE THEY WENT TO NEW HOME AND FOUND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO SLEEP? THEY HAVEN'T CALLED SINCE THEY GOT TO THE CORE."
"They better not be hanging outside late or they'll get in trouble with me."
"WHAT IF THE HUMAN'S NOCTURNAL?”
"Who knows? Not ME at least. Anime says all kinds of things that don't make sense when you put them together, like in some of them, some humans have cat ears, but in others that's not possible. At least they should have something cooler, like fins!"
"OR BONES! HMM, BUT WE CAN ONLY GUESS. PERHAPS THEY ARE NOCTURNAL, I HEARD HUMANS HAVE SOMETHING CALLED TIMEZONES. MY BROTHER TOLD ME ABOUT IT WHEN WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE SUN..."
At that point Flowey stopped listening. Those two went over several topics, and whenever they didn't know something, they made it up with their theories. It was amusing in the first dozen resets, but by now Flowey had exhausted all possible topics with each of them...
Suddenly, he heard something that was new to him.
"SO UNDYNE, I SEE YOU ARE CARRYING A LETTER? IS IT FOR SOMEONE SPECIAL?" Papyrus inquired, teasingly.
A letter? Flowey had seen many letters. Several had been addressed to Dr. Alphys. He wondered why the fish monster would have one too.
"WHAT? Well, I don't want it to get damaged in case I burn down the house on accident again— BUT NOT FOR ANY SPECIAL REASON, it's just a silly thing I keep with me."
"WHO IS IT ADDRESSED TO, THEN?"
"Uh...."
"WILL YOU LET ME READ IT?"
"Absolutely NOT! It's personal!"
"SO IS IT FOR ALPHYS..." A pause. "YOU DID NOT DENY IT. SO WHY DON'T YOU JUST CALL HER, DELIVER IT, AND SEE HER REACTION?" There was the sound of a phone being unlocked. "I'LL DO THE PHONE CALL!"
"Papyrus, no! I need to rewrite it, it's not done yet! Give me the phone, darn it!" There was another pause. "Ok, thanks. Besides, she's probably busy fixing Mettaton right now. Did you see his new body? And BEFORE you make any remark on how hot or handsome he is, DON'T." Nyeh-heh-heh’s were heard in response. "Anyways, she must be busy, and I don't think I can just show her this letter. I'm afraid things could go wrong— I wouldn't know what to do!"
"FINE, BUT IF YOU EVER NEED ADVICE, LISTEN TO ME. YOU NEED THAT KIND OF BRAVERY IN YOUR LIFE" A clicking noise like a wink was heard.
"NGAAAH- shut up!" She lowered her voice. "Hey, if you don't mind, can you leave while I change my clothes?"
"OF COURSE, I STILL HAVE SOME OF YOUR CLOTHES FROM THE LAST TIME YOUR HOUSE BURNT DOWN. I'LL GIVE YOU PRIVACY."
"Thank you, now GET OUT." The door was closed. Strong pacing could be heard for a few minutes, before the window opened with a harsh movement and small shreds of paper were dropped one by one, “I really can't do it,”she muttered “It's too much. I'll make a better one soon. That will be the one.”
The humidity of the snow would soon leak into the remains of the letter and erase its message, never to be read by anyone. Well, not anyone who was meant to read it anyways. Flowey leaned closer and used a root to pick up a part of the letter. It took him five endearment terms and three uses of the verb love to know it was an excessively corny confession directed at the Royal Scientist.
It seemed almost atypical for the fish monster. However, Flowey knew better. During some of his runs he had experimented with the Royal Guard, testing their strengths and weaknesses. Undyne was a particularly difficult monster to deal with. Once you became her enemy, she would strike you down no matter what. Her green soul magic forced any monster under its effect to stay still and only use its own magic bullets as protection. Flowey, being soulless, was not affected by this kind of magic, but that still didn't make fleeing much easier. He had killed her the first time they faced each other, after dying to her several times. That had been the first timeline he decided to kill, throwing bullets at some of the weakest known monsters. Undyne had been furious, and decided to find the culprit and bring them to justice. When Flowey did manage to kill her, though, she resisted. With her last breaths, she kept on fighting, refusing to die. Her last words were dedicated to every monster in the Underground she swore to protect, and as she melted, she regretted never "telling it to Alphys". He had figured out what it was by other sources. The letter was just further confirmation.
No other monster had shown such determination to keep going, and those words rang in Flowey's head. Somehow, the possibility of making someone be honest about their feelings towards something —or someone else— made him particularly curious. He had tried to help her, more than once, but no attempt had been successful. He kept trying for a few more runs. Undyne's resilience reminded him of his own sibling. He thought that maybe staying determined and reaching, helping, and fixing things would... do something. Perhaps he had to be more like them, more like Chara. But he was hopeless now. Nothing he did ever lasted, nothing he did made him feel right.
"Hurts, doesn't it? Some things never change. She writes letters but she will never do anything with them." He dropped the letter and went back to rest for what was left of the night, hoping to restore his HP.
* * *
The "Riverperson'' was never just one monster. There were three of them. Their family had been passionate about sailing for decades; some said they had the reputation even before the war, and ever since monsters found a stream that connected all areas, the River family had dedicated itself to provide quick travel to everyone in the Underground. When it was nighttime, and most monsters outside were nocturnal creatures, only one of them was around. They gazed at the Snowdin port. All three siblings had great intuition, and that night, they agreed, was bound to be interesting.
"Greetings. Would it be possible to make use of your service tonight?" a soft voice asked.
The river monster turned to face the source of the voice and saw a tall white furry monster. They resembled most inhabitants of the small town, with a thick layer of fur covering their features. But something about their presence radiated a sense of grace. A good River monster made no distinction among their travelers, so they simply pointed to the empty space on their boat.
"Tri li li, where would you like to go?"
"Take me to Hotland, please,” the monster said calmly
The Riverperson took off with their only passenger for that ride.
It was late, but despite the time, a few nocturnal monsters could always be found wandering the streets, among the low-glowing lights. The sight of the new monster immediately sparked rumors, catching the attention of the few awake. From the forest, a Whimsun flew, carrying news from the Ruins. The great door deep in Snowdin forest had been opened, and its caretaker was making their way to the capital. Young monsters were perplexed by the story, but older, wiser ones knew this meant great incoming change for the whole kingdom. Nobody knew for certain what had become of Queen Toriel after the deaths of her children, but it seemed that the words carried by the small flying monster could be the solution to the century old mystery. Soon enough, word was spread in the snowy town among the elders. They were careful and cautious, not to make quick assumptions, but staying alert.
The ride across the cave system had not been long, but it certainly felt like eternity, even for a monster with such a long life as Toriel. She was worried sick, wondering whether the human child had been harmed. As she set foot on Hotland, and waved the Riverperson farewell, the feeling of unease only increased. She did not know where the child had gone. All the monsters she had spoken to had little to no information, seeing as they weren't awake during the day, and therefore hadn't seen anything worth noting. However, as Toriel walked through the dry roads, she noticed flyers, all related to a human kid that had been spotted in Hotland, as a guest on the Underground's greatest celebrity's shows. She walked faster, hoping to reach New Home soon. Time felt so slow, each step lasting a small eternity in her anxious mind.
By the time she had reached the castle, the artificial lights were starting to get brighter. She was determined to reach her destination. She could not allow Asgore to take another soul, and she was going to stop him herself if she had to. She would not let another child be hurt by him. Her steps covered longer distances, as she walked across the familiar hallways. Her breathing was fast, and her paws felt heated with anxiety, small fire bullets dancing around her fingers. She paid no mind to the monsters that walked around her, except to ask about the king once: a tall catlike monster indicated that the king was last seen at the throne room last evening, but was not seen leaving the place ever since. As she approached the throne room, an odd feeling made her magic shiver. There was no sight of the King.
She walked in, careful not to step on the golden flowers that decorated the room. In a way, both of them had remembered their children using those flowers. She shook the thought out of her mind, and she went across the room to a smaller entrance. That room had a single orifice at the ceiling, letting the first rays of the morning sun go through. No sign of the King, either.
She feared the worst.
She prepared her fire attacks.
She breathed deeply.
She stepped into the room that led to the Barrier.
She dropped her attacks, which disappeared in an instant.
Before her was a crown, and an armor covered in a purple cape. Dust on the floor, and an ear-ringing silence. A gardening knife was a few feet away.
This was the day the Underground's King had perished.
This was the day a human made it out of the monsters' world alive.
This was the day things would change forever for their kind.
The Queen took the crown. Her expression was solemn, and she braced herself to make the announcement known to everyone in the Underground.
"King Asgore has died."

Heya. This one has a little bit less lore... But I'll need it to structure the world of UNDERGLITCH (and i also don't quite am a fan of metatron. But i do like his sassynes? I guess. Also, I'm running on 3 hours of sleep in 48 hours, so if you see some writing mistakes, it's because I'm losing my senses lol)
So. Mettaton.
The idol of underground, absolute sassy and egocentric. Being almost totally focused on themselves, but has a little space in their soul to care for some
But how could it change in UNDERGLITCH?
The human, of course, fought mettaton in his NEO form, at the laboratory of Alphys. After being defeated pretty easily, the human went of his marry way.
After the human got control over the core and the guards, they remembered about mettaton, and decided to give a little pass to Alphys to "help out a star in need". For that, frisk [player] told Alphys to fix mettaton, and bring it to them. Alphys complied, and when mettaton was presented to the human, they actually got a surprised.
The human liked mettaton shows, and wanted that to still be the mainstream service of the underground.
"it's the most entertaining thing around here" the human said "would be a shame to lost such a wonderful star, wouldn't it?"
Mettaton was thrilled, and the human gave back their old restaurant and all the tv shows mettaton already had, Toguether with a stronger energy holder, so they could keep the NEO (and any other form) as much as they wanted!
Mettaton slowly felt like they had build up an actual connection with the human, and decided to talk to them about all the killing and if they could maybe redeem themselves. That did not go well.
The human got pissed, and in a anger move deleted burguerpants right in front of mettaton, and threatened to do the same to napstablook if they ever forgot their place in the world
After that, mettaton slowly start to lose his interest for the shows, since the only person watching them was that horrible human. Now, they don't do that for the underground, or for the humanity as a whole. They do that to survive and scape the hungry fingers of that true monster
Now! Curiosity's!!
Trying to protect napstablook from the human, mettaton bought them to like at his restaurant/hotel. And sometimes he also participates on the shows, but mostly for duo things
Alphys isolated herself for almost everyone outside the laboratory. Staying there all day and night. Mettaton and her doesn't really talk anymore
If they could, the would have killed the human. But they believe they can't at this point
Napstablook dint really changed much. Stil crying, still laze and sad. Just trying to do his best to accompany mettaton

*It's a story about HandPlates! Gaster and Wing! Gaster
*I’ll appreciate it very much if you point out the mistakes I made in the translation, all kinds of help are welcomed!
*previous & next
*Handplates by @zarla-s
Wing!Gaster by me
——————————————
Chapter23
“We never say Goodbye.”
416
G: Do you know where you will be teleported to?
W: Maybe returning to the void or some other world
W: I have some feeling...but I’m not sure
417
It had been a week since Wing confessed that he was about to disappear, and the influence of time and space became more apparent on him. It became more and more difficult for the black monster to maintain his shape, and sometimes the body parts would even turned translucent.
“Feels like the countdown.”He laughed at himself, and Gaster knocked on his head.
“Don’t make things like you’re going to die.”
418
G: I should attach something to you
G: Then I can find you no matter where you go
Wing held out his left hand.
W: Here you go
G: (*working)
G: Alright.
Wing saw a silver ring on his ring finger.
G: Fine. You can never escape from me.
G: This one is full of DETERMINATION.
419
G: Remember the wedding of Alphys and Undyne before?
W: Of course, they threw the bouquet at my face...nice shot!
G: And a flower stuck in the crack on your head
W: And I had to leave it there till the end of the party
G: (*smiled)It suited you well.
420
G: I changed my mind
G: I want you to dance with me in front of everyone
W: Of course that’s fine-
G: After you come back.
421
W: ...
W: But I...
G: Stop acting like those messy TV shows.
G: Listen, there’s nothing to be afraid of
G: You saved me, you know?
G: We can say that you also saved the world...
G: Be confident, you are a Gaster, you can do anything.
G: WE can do anything.
422
G: Even if-even if the worst thing happens
G: Promise me not to give up hope
G: Remember the world where there are always people who love you
G: I mean...you have me.
G: At first it was I who opened the cracks of the void. I brought you here.
G: Then I will be able to bring you back
G: Just walk towards the light—like the first time. It’s not difficult.
W: ...
The black monster hugged his love and sighed softly.
W: Yeah...
He rested his head on Gaster’s shoulder.
W: My hero.
423
G: You will wear dress when dance with me
W: OK
G: Wear every dress recommended by Alphys
W: OK
G: And...
W: OK
G: ...
He buried his face in the black fluid.
423.5
W: Flags, so many flags
G: HEY
424
It was a beautiful day as usual. Birds are singing. Flowers are blooming.
W: ...
W: Two news, my love.
G: ?
W: The good one, I can feel my original world calling me.
G: And the bad one...
W: NOW.
425
The chair fell to the ground, and Gaster threw himself into Wing’s arms. He could feel the other one’s body getting thinner and thinner.
G: You said, if you want to keep something...
G: Just hug him tight.
426
G: ...
G: Sorry, I’m not trying to stop you from going home
G: It’s been so long...it must be happy
G: I just...
Wing hugged him tight with his half-disappeared arm.
W: I know
They just weren’t ready to say goodbye.
No matter how long they had prepared.
427
The black fluid seemed to be evaporating, and Wing became more transparent. The sun shined through his body.
G: Oh my-you know how much I’m afraid of this
G: ...
G: No, forget it
G: Remember not to give up hope
G: What’s more, don’t forget us
Wing nodded solemnly, now he couldn’t even make a sound.
428
No matter how much you have prepared before, time always seemed to be too little at the last moment.
“Say hello to the children.”Gaster said finally.
The black monster used a smile to suppress the urge to cry.
—I certainly will.
They kissed each other, and the feeling was like butterflies in the air.
—I will introduce everyone to them.
Wing’s vision was being blurred, and he tried to see Gaster’s face clearly.
—I will tell them what miracle I have met.
His body flowed away from Gaster’s fingers, like water or quicksand.
—That would be
He disappeared into the light.
—a wonderful story.
429
Gaster stood in the empty room, and the sunlight made him dizzy.
He sat down, taking some time to react.
The chair next to him was empty.
There were two mugs on the table.
The coat was hung at the door.
Wing was no longer here.
430
The underlying fear rose from his heart, and he remembered what Wing had said.
“In a world I saw the Gaster was erased...and then everyone forgot him.”
He dared not imagine what would happen if he forgot Wing.
Gaster thought he had to do something to make sure... if he couldn’t believe his memory...
The used things, the photos taken together, the data registered in the computer, everything could prove the existence of Wing, but in Gaster’s eyes they were so pale and weak.
If all these were not enough—
He suddenly thought of something.
431
Gaster rushed into his private laboratory and opened the cabinet with rows of bottles and tubes in it.
A glass tube was drawn out, and the black fluid lay inside quietly—it was the part Gaster extracted from Wing in the name of scientific research when the two first met.
It did not disappear together with Wing.
Gaster removed the lid and poured it out. The fluid hesitated for a moment and then fell in his hand. It crawled around Gaster’s hands for a few times, and finally formed a ring around his ring finger.
A unique ring.
Gaster couldn’t tell if he was smiling or crying, or both.
Wing would come back, he knew it.
Here were signs to guide him back.
432
Wing suddenly woke up.
He was standing in the control room of the core. The status lights indicated that the various devices were in sleep mode. The console was covered with a transparent dust cover, with a thin layer of dust on it.
The black monster opened the door and walked out. There was no busy monsters or mechanical sounds, and the place was so quiet that it made him nervous.
A protective net was installed under the long bridge, but there were no more golden quantum magma below.
The whole core seemed to be sleeping.
As the footsteps moved from near to far, Wing saw the familiar figure.
“Alphys?”
433
Dr.Alphys was startled.
Alphys: Ah! I-I don’t know there was still-
Alphys: No! How did you get in? This place is...
Alphys: Who are you? You...wait-I...
Alphys: Uh...
She covered her head as if in her memory there was something appeared—recovered.
Alphys: ...
Alphys: Dr.Gaster?
434
Alphys: God...it’s you!
Alphys: You are our hero! You sacrificed yourself to save the underground...and now you’re back! !
Alphys: The King and Queen must be very happy!
Alphys: And, and your children, Sans and Papyrus must miss you so much!
Alphys: I, uh, my name is Alphys. I’m a royal scientist now, and I, I read a lot of books about you...
Alphys: Wait, you know me? but I-
Alphys: Uh...let’s go back to the surface first!
435
Alphys: Yes! The barrier has gone!
Alphys: A human child named Frisk made it! Now they are the ambassador of peace between monsters and human
Alphys: Most monsters chose to go back to the surface to live, there is no need for core power in the ground, so we decided to turn on the sleep mode...
Alphys: I just come down for routine check...
Alphys: This way Doctor
Alphys: Doctor?
Alphys: Are you crying...are you okay?
W: ...I’m okay
W: I just...
I just remember the old days.
I just remember my promises.
I just think of lost time.
I just miss you so much.
Wing felt like he had a long, long dream, and only the silver ring on his finger told him it was reality.
436
W: And then
W: You two saw me.
There was an astronomical telescope on the balcony, Wing was leaning against the beanbag sofa, and Papyrus was holding Sans in his arms.
W: Do you know how much I miss you?
P: ,(´・ω・`)HOW MUCH?
W: ( ̄∇ ̄)I can’t even imagine!!
He kissed his children on the forehead, and the skeletons giggled in his arms.
S: so you went to another world like this one
P: AND MET OTHER SANS AND PAPYRUS!
W: Yeah
P: WOWIE!
P: WILL WE MEET THEM?
W: ...
W: Of course we will.
He looked up at the distant starry sky above.
W: They must be glad to meet you.

The Third Worst Day
Loosely inspired by the ninth chapter of @undertalethingems Unexpected Guests comic, and by the end of John Mulaney’s Delta Airlines bit. (“In fact, we’re gonna frame you for MURDER! [...] ~Because we’re Delta Airlines, and life is a fucking nightmare~”)
Sans was not having the shittiest day of his life, because everyone was on the surface and Frisk was being nice this timeline.
The second shittiest day, though- well, no, not that either, technically speaking. Nothing was on fire except maybe Undyne’s house underground, and that just because no one could be bothered to put it out when everyone was moving to the surface anyway. (Please don’t ask about the second shittiest day of Sans’ life, he will not tell you and will instead have flashbacks)
Ugh, it was really indicative that this BS only ranked third.
So, the curtain opens on the third shittiest day of Sans’ life, and maybe, like, the eighth worst thing to ever happen to him.
What could be bad enough to rank on Sans’ top ten worst days list, though? (which is a list he actually made once, as a joke, and then he looked at it and kind of wanted to cry, before laughing instead because that’s just how Sans copes with things)
Well, you see, he was being framed for murder.
Flowey, specifically, was currently attempting to frame him for the death of the old royal scientist, W.D Gaster, who Sans had met maybe once in his entire life.
Admittedly, the fact that he actually remembered said meeting, and that there had been a previous royal scientist at all, was highly unusual.
He didn’t remember for anywhere close to the reasons Flowey was insinuating, though. No, the reason Sans remembered the old royal scientist had very little to do with the scientist himself and a lot more to do with how remembering across timelines was triggered in the first place.
Cross-timeline memory retention (which are the Official Science Words for it) was triggered by high levels of Determination. No more, no less. And Sans had very high DT levels for a monster. It was pretty much the only reason he’d managed to make it to adulthood with just a single point of HP to his name. (Undyne remembered a bit too, he suspected, though he’d never called her on it)
So the reason Sans remembered the existence of Gaster was the same reason he had what little knowledge he did of the RESETs, though he remembered far less of those, due to having fewer triggers for the memories to resurface. (The fact that no one knew who had built the CORE had been enough for Sans’ mind to fill in the blanks)
Flowey was saying that Sans remembered because he’d known the guy, which was just flat out wrong. The weed was insinuating that Sans couldn’t possibly due the things he did without being a scientist, which was partially true, and finally accusing him of killing Gaster, either to steal his research or because Sans was the Judge, (Nice of Flowey to out him, the little shit) which was blatant slander.
Sans could see that the others (excluding Alphys, who knew the story was bullshit) didn’t want to believe what Flowey was saying, but he could also see that, despite that fact, he was still convincing them.
Flowey, after all, was a very skilled liar. Especially when it came to convincing people of crazy backstories he’d concocted on the spot. It made sense, since he’d had rather a lot of practice.
As Flowey finished his story, Sans looked at Alphys. He texted her a question about an old promise he’d made to her that was suddenly not one he was sure he should keep. (He’d do it anyway, if she asked, but breaking it would make disproving Flowey’s allegations that much easier.)
“And that’s why- are you on your PHONE?” Flowey interrupted himself, looking hilariously offended for someone who was actively framing a guy for murder.
“Is that how little you care? You killed him and you can’t even be bothered to hear out the allegation?” Oh, so that’s how he was playing it. Sans narrowed his eyes, just a bit, before responding.
“eh, you looked like you were having fun. wouldn’t want to interrupt, ya know?” Earlier in the conversation, when Sans was still actively participating, Flowey had interrupted him several times. Alphys snickered at his jab, and hit the send button on her phone.
Sans checked the text, and inwardly sighed in relief. Seemed like he could take the easy way out here.
“Sans, please put away your phone. This is a serious conversation,” Toriel said. Sans supposed he had to agree to disagree on that one. This wasn’t much of a conversation at all as much as it was Flowey using his knowledge to manipulate the room in a way that allowed him to frame Sans for murder.
“yeah, don’t worry, tori. it was relevant,” She looked as if she doubted that, but she didn’t say anything. Sans sent Alphys a quick thank-you and stuck the offending device back in his pocket. He turned to look at Flowey, who probably would have shrunk from the ice in his gaze if Flowey had ever bothered to figure out how to read his expressions.
“so, you done, pal?” There were several winces around the room at the vitriol present in his tone, but none of them belonged to Flowey.
“Yeah, I think I’ve made my point pretty clear!” Flowey looked positively cheerful at the thought.
“good, ‘cause i’m getting pretty tired of hearing you speak. don’t want a repeat of the last time you tried something like this, right?” Last time Flowey had attempted something like this with Sans present, the weed had still been in control of the timeline. Sans had killed him before he could even finish his speech.
“Ha! You wouldn’t dare! Not when Frisk is-” Flowey cut himself off before he could dig all three of them (four of them?) into a hole they really wouldn’t be able to talk their way out of. Frisk shot him a glare, with an expression that said they’d probably kill Flowey themselves, if he didn’t shut his trap. The weed gulped audibly.
“A-anyway! Are you gonna explain yourself, trashbag?” Papyrus made the same pinched expression he always did when Flowey used that particular moniker.
“heh. sure, why not,” Sans’ grin turned predatory.
“i’m not gonna bother asking you to back your claims with evidence, since we both know you don’t actually have any,” Flowey narrowed his eyes, probably thinking of a thousand ways to justify that, but Sans continued without giving a chance.
“you’re right that i used to be a scientist, so kudos for that, i guess. my leaving the field had nothing to do with gaster, though. it actually happened quite a while after that,” Sans preferred not to talk about this, but with Flowey forcing his hand, it seemed like the simplest solution.
“my leaving had nothing to do with gaster, and everything to do with the experiments that got alph fired,”
--
When Sans had been younger and more optimistic, he’d wanted to be a scientist more than anything in the world. He’d spend hours combing through the dump for old textbooks, and the few he found, he’d pore over until he had them practically memorized.
So when an ad went out saying that the new royal scientist was looking for an assistant, he’d jumped at the opportunity. Sans had spent hours studying for the required tests, barely even eating in his complete dedication to the task before him.
Sans didn’t know whether he’d had the highest score, or if he’d been selected for his blue magic, (a rare ability that was extremely useful for engineering) or if had simply been because he lived so close to the lab at the time, but he got the job. He’d celebrated for a day straight, and would probably have irritated the hell out of Papyrus if they’d been living together at the time. (Sans was in that young adult phase where he lived alone in a shitty apartment because he was trying to be independent)
When he’d first met Alphys, he was not ashamed to admit to having geeked out a bit. She was considered one of the greatest minds of their generation, after all.
He’d tried to keep it to a minimum, though, (correctly) figuring that she wouldn’t have much use for him as an assistant if he was too busy with hero worship to contribute anything.
Though they’d been awkward together at first, they’d quickly warmed up to each other, and soon at least half of the new innovations exiting the lab had their roots in Sans’ ideas as much as Alph’s.
Quickly enough, they’d become best friends.
And then…
Then had come the Determination experiments.
Both Alphys and Sans had agreed it would be best not to allow the amalgamates out of the True Lab. Alphys had confined herself to her workplace, moving in a bed and her anime collection so she’d only have to leave for the occasional grocery run.
Sans had kept his status as her assistant under wraps, though, so he didn’t have to worry about being cornered by the victims’ families like she did. Papyrus had mentioned recently that he was looking for someone to go in halfsies with him on a housing lease in Snowdin, so Sans did what he did best, and ran away from his problems, packing his stuff and moving just about as far from Hotland as it was possible to get without entering the Ruins.
He and Alph stayed friends, though. When you’re the only two people who know about a catastrophic disaster like that, it kinda brings you together.
--
Sans finished his explanation with a nod to Alphys, before saying,
“and as for gaster, the only connection i’ve got to the guy is that i named an attack after him in honor of his scientific prowess,”
The room was silent for a few moments as everyone thought through his words. Suddenly, Flowey said,
“Yeah, that’s all well and good, but how did you even know about him? Everyone else forgot he ever existed!” Sans smiled secretively.
“probably the same way you do, asriel,” Let no one say he couldn’t give as good as he got. If Sans had to share his backstory, well.
Might as well take the flower down with him.

My Multiverse Part 48
Dream was now awake and Classic was trying to walk. But then Dream remembered something.
“What about Frisk?!” Dream cried out and Alphys checked the cameras.
“Good intuition. They just left the ruins.” Alphys said.
“Papyrus, lets go. I’ll take Classic’s place, I got the script memorized.” Sci said as he dragged Geno to the large machine he had been working on. “You take care of this Geno.” Sci said as he grabbed Papyrus and teleported out of the lab.
“I can’t believe I forgot.” Classic said, sighing as he held the edge of the bed for dear life.
“No one is blaming you Classic. With how mutilated you were, it’d be rude to assume you’d be on top of everything.” Nightmare said.
“How’d you know how bad I was?” Classic asked.
“Who do you think rescued you?” Nightmare said.
“How’d you know where I was?” Classic asked, sitting down on the edge of his bed.
“Maxie.” Nightmare said.
“Who is Maxie?” Geno asked.
“Howdy-doo my dear ‘ole friends.” A young and bouncy voice said, it came from the anti-void. “I am a voice and creator. We were the creators of AUs until Ink suckered us out of that position and now we don’t have any powers now that we oppose him. Though I do for some reason, despite me being a spy and not actually being loyal to him.” Maxie said, her voice becoming confused as he carried on with her explanation.
“OK!” Classic said, “Can you leave now?” Classic said and Maxie huffed.
“Fine. ANd for the record, I wasn’t a part of the group that tortured Error.” Maxie said before her voice faded from.
“That was mean.” Dream said.
“I just want to sleep.” Classic said.
“I’m sorry.” Dream apologized, inching towards the portal as close as he could.
“You were brainwashed, it wasn’t you.” Classic said and Dream shook his head.
“I didn’t feel regret. I didn’t regret it. Those emotions, that blank feeling, that satisfaction of hurting you, it’s still there.” Dream said, “And I want to apologize, I did you a horrible wrong, and I want to correct it.” Dream finished as he rubbed his sockets, yellow tears staining his gloves.
“Whatever. I forgive you, it's not like you could have stopped yourself.” Classic said.
“While we’re apologizing, I’m gonna say sorry too. I did torture you, but I didn’t have an apple core for a soul at the time so I feel nothing but regret about it.” Nightmare said and Classic perked up.
“Apple core…?”
“Yep. Ink ate most of my soul. For us it was a few days ago, maybe longer.” Dream said, “But these guys helped me get a new one!”
“You were pretty eager to get a new one though.” Cross commented.
“Well, I remembered months of torture Ink put me through and I was scared.” Dream said.
“How do you forget that?” Cross asked.
“Ink manipulated my memories. He gave me them back to hurt me.” Dream defended himself.
“Wow. Ink really is evil.” Geno said and everyone nodded.
“How do we know the torture was real?” Undyne asked, shifting her weight onto one leg.
“Error was made to witness the whole thing.” Dream said, and Nightmare gasped.
“He was what?!” Nightmare cried out, his tentacles sharpening and his goop getting more liquid as it dripped over his mouth and his eye light became slimmer. His voice was deeper and had a reverb, and his fingers became claws.
“Calm down. We can beat the living shit out of Ink later, but we need to know what Error went through before we do so, how will we know how bad we have to beat Ink up?” Cross said, Fresh was inching away but seemed very calm, not what Cross expected.
Nightmare began to breathe slower and he relaxed his shoulders, but his eye was still very thin and snake like and his hands were also still claws. But he seemed to be calmer.
“Wow.” Geno said as he was Asgore and Undyne back away closer to the door.
“Is he always like this?” Dream asked.
“Not always. Though we did have to restrain him during the first few battles after we found Error, Nightmare was pissed when we thought Ink left Error in the anti-void to rot.” Fresh explained.
“I do not remember that.” Nightmare said and Dream agreed.
“It was probably Ink, I don’t remember that either, so I think he didn’t see you or forgot about you.” Cross explained.
“Probably.” Fresh agreed.
“You know, I actually remember that I had never been more scared in my life.” Geno said, “And I’m an alternate future for him,” He pointed at Classic, “I’ve gone through what he’s gone through and seen everything else.”
“Yeah, that fact that you guys were scared, oh boy. I thought I was gonna die.” Classic said.
“Sorry to interrupt, but Frisk is about to face Papyrus. They haven’t killed anyone yet, but Sci isn’t anywhere to be seen.” Alphys said, just then Geno got a call.
“WE'RE ON PACIFIST! NO MURDER SO FAR!” Sci screamed, it was clear that he was crying when Geno put him on speaker phone.
“Hallelujah.” Classic said as a voice echoed.
“ALPHYS! WE NEED TO START THE SHOW! MY FANS ARE WAITING!” It said and everyone froze.

Back on my Deltarune theory bullshit
spoilers or whatever
I had this idea....a while back I think? I shared it with friends on discord but the converstation moved away from it, and I kind of forgot about it. Until recently when I was talking to my sister about DR, and brought this up. She was like “YO YOU NEED TO POST THIS!!”
so I am
(Also my spellcheck aint working so live with me)
It starts with this
base
theory, that i’m sure other people share. That Sans and Papyrus are the same Sans and Pap we know, and that this is them from the past. This comes from many places:
1. Sans in UT talks constantly about trying to go back....somewhere. And its not the surface (”look, i gave up trying to go back a long time ago..and getting to the surface doesn’t really appeal anymore either.”[during geno])(”you’ll never see them again.”[during hopes and dreams]) The picture of three people with “don’t forget” written on it. Even the pictures of ‘Sans next to a bunch of smiling poeple you don’t regongnise’. It’s very possible (from that we know now) that Sans is, or was, trying to get back to the DR universe, and that in later chapters he and Papyrus will play a bigger role and maybe even become our friends.
2.Toby said that the game will always have the same ending, (aka, your choices really don’t matter) meaning it’s posible that whatever we do the game will end with Sans and Pap getting yeeted, through the means of dark fountain, into Undertale, and we can’t stop it. Because we know we can’t. Very timey whimey huh?
Now that you understand this, let me continue on to the REAL theory.
So, Sans and Papyrus heir from the DR universe, but that raises a question. Everyone in UT has a DR equivallent. Undyne has one. Alphys has one. Toriel and Asgore do. Asriel. You get it. (Even technically Susie. “Suzy”) So if Sans and Papyrus are from DR, do they have an UT equivillent?
It’s possible that, like Rudy and others, they don’t. (Or there is a UT Rudy equivlent and we never met him or he’s long dead.) Which is fully possible.
But
But
What if, stay with me here, what if...Gaster IS the UT equivalent to Papyrus.
For one, it would it explain their connections (Bonetrosle themes hidden in the CORE, “Forgettable”, Talking in all caps, being named after a font. The fact that G, who built the CORE, made it full of puzzles and mazes for seemingly no reason.) But wouldn’t that make so much sense?
It wouldn’t be hard for Papyrus to not be ‘regonised’. We know the Gaster incident happened a looong time before Alphys was royal scientist. And we know everyone kinda forgot about G, (either because of void shennanigans or just in general), So no one would really have known G, other than like Asgore, but ALSO the fact that Gaster could have looked diffrent. Not too diffrent maybe, but diffrent enough that anyone who did know G wouldn’t connect them. the fact that people wouldn’t think Pap is G is up in the air.
(This also brings up the point that, where tf is Gaster’s Sans equivilent? Maybe died in the war if G is that old. Or i could get into the whole ‘memory head’ thing, but that’s a whole thing and we do not have enough information on that)
(Also we thought he was Sans Undertale but he was really Sans Deltarune the whole time :0 )
So basic theory, Papyrus (and Sans) are originally from DR, and Papyrus’ actual UT equivillent is Gaster.

W.D. Gaster Masterpost
(undertale spoilers)
Doctor W.D. Gaster is an enigma shrouded in mystery, with very little known about him. Despite the scarce amount of information, this character is a popular topic for many fans who are desperate to know who he is. After the January 2016 patch, more “fun” events became available in regular gameplay, driving more people to look for answers as to who Gaster is.
The following is a breakdown of facts, circumstantial evidence, and unconfirmed theories on Gaster. All technical information mentioned below is based on v1.001 of the game.
Facts
Before Gaster is discussed, three important characters should be considered -- the followers.
Facts about the followers:
There are three followers.
Their sprite names are spr_g_follower_1, spr_g_follower_2, and spr_g_follower_3.
Their object names in the code are obj_gaster_follower_b, obj_gaster_follower_a, and obj_gaster_follower_c.
Each follower has a very low chance of appearing.
Follower_1: fun value 62 and 50% chance = 0.5% chance
Follower_2: fun value 61 and 20% chance = 0.2% chance
Follower_3: fun value 63 and 50% chance = 0.5% chance
These are the only monsters that ever mention Gaster by name.
They share a monochrome gray color theme.
Two of them use the words “they say” in reference to what they know.
Frisk’s phone does not turn on in their presence.
Follower_2 disappears after speaking.
Since the followers are the only characters that mention Gaster by name, what is known as canon about Gaster is derived from their dialogue. However, because the followers speak in such a hearsay manner (e.g. “They say he created the Core.”), it’s hard to be sure how accurate this information is. With little else to go on, this information will be taken at face value.
Facts and hearsays about Gaster:
He was the previous Royal Scientist, before Alphys.
His brilliance was “irreplaceable”, which is why Asgore took so long to replace him.
He created the CORE.
His life was cut short.
He fell into his creation.
His experiments went wrong. (Yes, experiments is plural here).
He vanished without a trace.
He shattered across time and space.
A piece of him exists with Follower_2.
He is still listening.
Outside of what the followers share, there are a few more things known by special events in the game and by examining the code and assets.
From the game’s code, assets, etc:
Entering Gaster’s name in the character name screen causes the game to restart -- and it only happens with Gaster’s name.
The Sound Test Room in Snowdin has a 50% chance of being accessible at fun value 65 (after defeating Papyrus and before defeating Asriel in the pacifist route), and Gaster’s Theme can be played in this room. Once the song starts playing, the music cannot be changed. Eventually, the song ends and then Frisk is automatically returned to the room with the fishing rod.
Despite not having a battle, Gaster’s monster type identifier in the code is 666, and his stats are composed using only 6. (ex. HP of 666666)
Sans’ attacks, which bear resemblance to animal skulls, use six sprites called spr_gasterblaster.
An unused NPC field sprite called spr_gb_npc looks like the spr_gasterblaster sprites, but without a face.
The gasterblasters are used in the code’s obj_gasterblaster, which is used in the code’s obj_gasterbl_gen.
By editing the game’s save files, ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN can be found in an unused room. The code for this room is called obj_gaster_room, confirming that the entry belongs to Gaster. The identifier for the text type is 666, and the game quits after the last line of the entry.
Circumstantial Evidence
The following is a list of reasonable deductions based on clues provided in the game. Unlike the facts listed above, these theories are not confirmed directly. However, they have enough circumstantial evidence to make a strong case.
Gaster is the original creator of the DT Extraction Machine.
Alphys specifically mentioned “using the blueprints” in her lab entry 5.
Since Alphys used these rather than created them, it’s presumed to be from the previous Royal Scientist.
W.D. Gaster refers to Wingdings and Aster (two fonts).
Wingdings shares Gaster’s initials, W.D.
Because the room with ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN is coded as obj_gaster_room, Gaster has a connection to Wingdings.
If the W.D. refers to Wingdings, the name Gaster may refer to Aster. However, there is no Aster in the game.
Gaster is a skeleton.
Because Sans and Papyrus are named after fonts and are skeletons, Gaster is assumed to be a skeleton.
The Core was built before New Home.
Considering New Home is built above the CORE, it’s reasonable to assume Gaster built the CORE before the Royal Family moved to New Home.
Gaster may have a connection to the monster that appears in a room behind a gray door in Waterfall -- Mystery Man.
The sprites are called spr_mysteryman.
The object name in the code is obj_mysteryman.
At fun value 66, there is a 10% chance of this door appearing. That means there is a mere 0.1% chance of finding this door without hacking or cheating.
Frisk cannot collide with Mystery Man; they walk right through.
When interacted with, Mystery Man disappears, and the sound effect snd_mysterygo plays. It is the same one that plays for the disappearing Follower_2, who claims to be holding a piece of Gaster.
Unlike with the followers, the phone can be used, but there is no response.
Gaster may have a connection to the monster in an inaccessible room in Waterfall -- Redacted A.
Its sprite is called spr_redacted_a_0.
Its object name in the code is obj_redacted_a.
The room can be accessed by editing the game’s save files, but only after disabling dogcheck.
The monster is solid and cannot be walked through.
It disappears if Frisk moves away from it, and reappears if Frisk moves towards it.
This is the only monster that speaks in Wingdings, specifically all lowercase. Its only dialogue is “* [redacted]”.
The text sound used for Redacted A’s dialogue is the same one used for ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN.
Sans has a connection to Gaster
Sans uses gasterblasters in his battle.
Sans has blueprints with unreadable symbols in his secret lab. The narration remarks that it may be just the handwriting that makes it illegible, perhaps implying it belongs to Alphys who’s handwriting is described as illegible chicken-scratch. However, unreadable symbols could also mean Wingdings.
During his battle, when Sans sleeps, he snores in an unidentified serif font. This font was originally thought to be Aster, but further examination has proven this is not the case.
Popular but Unconfirmed Theories
With how little information there is and how hard it is to find, it’s easy for “fanon” to become so popular that it is misrepresented as canon. The list below is made of popular theories that are commonly misquoted as fact. This was not written to diminish the theories in any way; in fact, the reason these ideas are so popular is that they make a lot of sense and are not directly contradicted by evidence in the game. However, it’s important to know fact from fun.
“Mystery Man is Gaster.”
Because the followers, the Sound Room, and Gaster’s stats all share a pattern of 6′s, Mystery Man has an association with Gaster.
However, Gaster was said to have shattered. If this is the case, it doesn't seem right for him to still be intact as the Mystery Man.
It is more plausible that Mystery Man is a “piece” of Gaster.
Redacted A is the only monster in the game to speak in Wingdings, which makes it another candidate to being a piece of Gaster.
Dogbomber’s interpretation of Gaster was removed from the official tarot card merchandise, keeping his true identity a secret.
“Goner Kid is a follower of Gaster’s.”
Goner Kid is the gray monster kid that can be found in Waterfall.
Their sprites are called spr_mkid_goner -- it does not include the word “follower.”
Their object name in the code is obj_mkid_goner.
They have a gray color scheme like the followers.
However, Goner Kid appears if the fun value is above 90 -- not in the 60′s. This means there is a 10% chance of running into them.
Unlike the followers, the phone can be used in the room with Goner Kid to call Papyrus.
Goner Kid never mentions Gaster.
“Gaster was forgotten by everyone.”
Based on the idea that Gaster shattered across space and time somehow causes his existence to be forgotten. There is no mention of this, however.
There is also speculation that Gaster is talking through Goner Kid about how the world can be the same “except you don’t exist.” However, Goner Kid has no confirmed association with Gaster.
The word “forgotten” is never used to describe Gaster.
His followers remember him.
Nothing indicates that Asgore forgot him, especially considering he took so long looking for a replacement since Gaster’s genius was “irreplaceable.”
“Gaster is in the void.”
There is no mention of a void in the game, other than what Mettaton says at the end of his battle: “IF I LEFT... THE UNDERGROUND WOULD LOSE ITS SPARK. I'D LEAVE AN ACHING VOID THAT CAN NEVER BE FILLED.“ This is not a literal void.
The followers only ever mention that he “shattered across time and space,” “fell into his creation,” and “his life... was cut short.”
Gaster is not stuck in any void.
“Gaster wrote the true lab entries.”
Other than the ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN that is written in Wingdings, there is no evidence that Gaster wrote any of the entries found in the true lab.
Alphys explains to Frisk the experiment she carried out on the fallen monsters, which the true lab entries document.
Based on supporting evidence in the game, Alphys wrote all the true lab entries.
“The followers are Gaster’s assistants.”
Nothing indicates they ever worked with Gaster.
They mention information about Gaster, but in a hearsay manner.
The “follower” name makes them seem more like fans or cult members.
Sans has a photo album filled with photos of people Frisk does not recognize, which people believe is Gaster and the followers. However, Frisk can meet any one of them, even if the chances are extremely slim.
“Sans was Gaster’s assistant.”
Sans says “you’ll never see them again” in the Lost Souls battle as if speaking from experience.
ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN addresses two people at the end, but nothing confirms who these people are.
Sans speaks about “our reports” and has a scientific background, but evidence supports that Sans may have worked with Alphys instead of Gaster.
“Gaster is Sans’ and Papyrus’ father.”
Gaster is speculated to be a skeleton, so it’s commonly assumed he would be their father. However, Sans and Papyrus make no mention of family outside of each other.
A poorly drawn picture of three people smiling can be found in Sans’ photo album under the right circumstances, but there is nothing to say who these three people are.
Conclusion
Shrouded in mystery and darkness, Gaster’s identity and story continue to elude the community. Filling the gaps with speculation is part of what makes Gaster theories so much fun. Hopefully, this comprehensive master post will aid with the guidance, testing, and formulation of fan theories. While conjecture and assumptions breed compelling speculation, it is always important to distinguish fanon from canon.

Hihi~ I know I said I'd drop this by a while back, but I wanted to wait till your ask box was calmer so you wouldn't feel overwhelming 💖 What are your headcanons for the different Gasters, if you don't mind? (Like before, please feel free to take as long as you'd like to answer; it's always worth it!) ~
I was wondering when I'd see this ask in my box. Bless you for waiting for my ask box to calm down. It really helped.
Gaster Headcanons
Undertale
Goop
-Royal scientist as we all know
-holy fucking memes. The memes never stop it seems. Probably Alphys who introduced him to them.
-plays piano, and composed a piece of music for his boys. He taught Classy Bean how to play piano.
-The dad jokes never stop.
-bad habit of forgetting to eat when he works on his experiments
-SCIENCE. The more complex the science, the more interested he is.
-what’s sleep? He forgets to sleep. A lot.
-his sleep schedule is so out of whack oh my god. His internal clock is fucking jacked up.
-adores kids, and kids tend to adore him.
-Dotes on the people he cares for, and made sure he made time for his kids.
-Classy Bean’s love for science comes from him.
-Tale’s love of puzzles is from him.
-Puzzles are wonderful he loves them
-Coffee is his savior okay
-When he isn’t working on something he loves, he’s pretty lazy.
-made a scrapbook of sans and started on one for papyrus before he fell into the core.
-was a great dad until he fell into the core.
-Wasn’t completely erased from existence after falling into the core. Nobody dared speak of him, (it hurt too much) though many forgot him, a few never could. These people include Classy Bean, Toriel, Asgore, and Alphys.
-the void is the worst place ever, but now he’s able to watch his boys grow up and check in on them. Its the best he can to be there for them. He wishes he could do more.
-Classy Bean’s machine isn’t to other multiverses. It’s him trying to make a door to the void so he can have his dad again.
-Always hums the tune he made for Classy Bean and Tale when they go to bed, almost as if he’s singing them a lullaby. Whenever he seems to do this Classy Bean seems to be able to go to sleep that night. He hopes it’s because of him.
-6 ft. tall by default, but he goop now so he can shift to being a bit taller or being much shorter.
-loves dogs. Annoying Dog is an actual dog that fell into the underground. Some animals fall in all the time, and the dog was one of them. Gaster took the dog in as a pet which is why Annoying Dog is around Tale and Classy Bean so much. Annoying Dog though has become the town’s dog.
-Alphys was the one to get him out of the void. She had found a weak spot in the void so he could step out. It was a really dangerous operation and she was trembling with the phone when she called Classy Bean in a panic.
-Classy Bean Shortcuts him and Tale to the lab immediately. He’s still pretty goopy from the void, but Classy Bean runs to him already sobbing.
-Goop is crying too, scooping his boy into his arms. Tale hardly remembers him but he gets pulled into a hug too. Goop lives with his boys now.
Underfell
Grump
-Super fucking cautious holy shit.
-Red Boy whenever he’d go out to play had this lecture he’d have to go through, a list of everything he’d taught him.
-Ha, he was never alone though. He watched over him, stalking him through town because he was worried.
-He’s the one who installed several thousand locks on the house. The windows have puzzle locks. Ain’t no one crawling through windows.
-He was super strict with Red Boy and Soft Edge, but behind closed doors super affectionate and loving.
-He taught them to stick together. No matter what. They’re family and they are going to be the only ones to trust down in the underground. He was enforcing tight bonds as much as he fucking could.
-Taught Red Boy piano and how to sew.
-Made all of Red Boy’s and Soft Edge’s clothes by hand.
-Taught Red Boy some science along with Soft Edge. Soft Edge vaguely remembers it.
-When he went out with his boys he would pick them up and carry them. No excuses. He couldn’t let them trail behind. Sure killing children was frowned upon but it didn’t really stop monsters from doing it. The harsh punishment didn’t always get carried out when they couldn’t find the culprit unfortunately.
-Was friends with Jerkby, who was a bit older than Red Boy. Probably about three years. Jerkby didn’t have parents, they were dusted after all, and he’d allow Jerkby to stay in the shed (Jerkby refused to step inside a stranger’s house). When they grew closer where Jerkby trusted him more he let him stay in the house.
-When he disappeared into the core they were all still relatively young. Jerkby got rougher, and meaner. Red Boy is the only reason he kept any bit of kindness that he had beforehand.
-He was violent in the void. He hadn’t ever killed anyone really just beated them to near death before leaving them alone. So he’d never been outright violent. The void made him beyond angry though.
-When the barrier breaks, the void wavers enough from the pulse to let him out, and he immediately tracks down his boys.
-Red Boy almost threw a bone attack at him until he realized it was possibly his dad.
-Soft Edge doesn’t buy it, but the uncanny resemblance to his hazy memory is too much for him to deny. He is the one who demands to hear the his story.
-Red Boy quizzes him on things only he would know and he passes with flying colors. As soon as he does Red Boy is LAUNCHING HIMSELF AT HIS FATHER.
-Red Boy cries for the first time in a long time, and honestly he can’t blame him. He’s holding back tears himself.
-He’s so proud of his boys and who they’ve become. He’s proud of Red Boy for not trusting him immediately. It meant he did his job to keep him safe in the underground. He’s proud of Soft Edge for achieving his goals. So what they’re rough around the edges? They’re alive.
-They live together on the surface.
-He’s 8 ft tall. He likes to tease Red Boy for ending up short.
-The surface??? Is so different??? He’s baffled.
-There’s cute shit and edgy shit. How the fuck is he supposed to choose between these things. He’s serious.
-Very indecisive when choosing shit. Like he likes both the cute things and edgy things. Though he leans toward edgy more, it’s hard for him to deny anything cute.
-He’s all about adapting to new living situations, so he’s proactively trying to improve.
-Literally makes notes on a notepad so he doesn’t forget what’s acceptable and what isn’t.
-Watches some TV to figure out some basic interactions. Red Boy and Soft Edge also help him learn.
-he’s still a little rougher around the edges than his boys though. It’s surprisingly difficult for him to wrap his head around a peaceful environment.
-He argued with his boys on how many locks they needed for the door. They went with 3. The windows have 1 basic lock much to his irritation.
-oh my god he hates country and the pop genres. He thinks their bullshit and the grate on his nerves.
-his aura is terrifying and so he’s very difficult to approach.
-He fucking loves cats. He wants 20 of them. Soft Edge constantly tells him no. “WHY THE FUCK NOT?”
-Okay he knows he’s supposed to love the sky and the surface but could the sun shut the fuck up??? Just??? Turn down the brightness.
-He discovers quickly that he isn’t a morning person. Mornings are awful and whenever someone greets him with good morning he stares them dead in the eye looking utterly exhausted as he says, “There are no good mornings.”
-Please get him coffee. He is dying. No he’s not being dramatic get him fucking coffee. (he’s being a dramatic lil shit)
Underswap
Oddball
-He’s not the riverperson. He’s still the royal scientist. But it seems as though he has more of Riverperson’s personality.
-Ya know Goop? And his dad jokes? Increase ten fold.
-Speaks in riddles it sounds like, but he’s just talking I swear.
-Look at his boys!!! His boys are good. He’s kind of,,, a weird dad. A parent figure who doesn’t know shit about raising a child let alone two.
-When Honey Bear showed interest and an advanced understanding in science and other things he instantly jumps on this chance to teach him.
-He’s a semi decent teacher. Some of the material went over Honey Bear’s head which frustrated him. He’d try to explain only making it worse. Honey Bear had random clicks of when it suddenly occurred to him what he was talking about and he’d become very angry at his past self because it was so easy.
-A chaotic neutral kind of person.
-what a fucking brat holy hell. Shit eating grins are his signature smile.
-He loves to go around and calling random things cursed for no apparent reason.
-enjoys the looks of horror and confusion from people when he does something odd again.
-When he disappeared everyone was confused. No one knew what happened to him except the King and Queen along with Honey Bear and Sassberry.
-He’d only been able to teach Sassberry some music theory, and Honey Bear sewing. He was very disappointed.
-spent his time in the void listing what he was gonna teach his sons. It kept him from going insane.
-During a reset, he was spit out of the void like a spitting bullet when they arrived to the surface. He keeps a close eye on Chara to make sure they don’t reset. Who knows what’ll happen if they did, he’s finally out and he refuses to go back to the void. Chara is semi terrified of him and making him made so they refuse to reset. Even went to the point of breaking the reset button. This makes things a million times better between the two.
-The day he disappeared he had asked Honey Bear a riddle. “How is a raven like a writing desk?”
-Honey Bear tackled him to the ground he was so happy to see him, and the first thing he says to him, “I’ve been thinking about it for what feels like 50 years of how a raven is like a writing desk and I need to know. How?” He shrugs and gives him a shit eating grin. “How would I know I’ve been in the void for 50 years.” Honey Bear is screaming.
-He lives with his sons after that still though.
-He is a mess to live with. He leaves shit everywhere and he has to ask constantly where he put something down.
-Sweet tooth. He visits Sweetby’s cafe often and has become good friends with him.
-doesn’t make puns but he thoroughly enjoys hearing Honey Bear make them.
-He’s 5’4. Taller than one son, shorter than the other. He’s fine with this.
-he’s very poor at reading a room. He says such weird shit that people generally have a hard time understanding him, but when he gets weird awkward stares is when he figures out he needs to probably shut up and pay attention to what the fuck is going on.
-He wants to teach people things.
-loves to learn and he grabs too many fucking books at once to learn something.
-Seems to oddly? Be a genius at languages and he quickly learns French, German, and Russian.
-makes random noises because he feels like it while he does things. Sometimes it’s just random humming other times it’s squawking.
-kind of has hipster tastes but just cause he likes really weird shit.
-loves spicy food that feels like you’re standing on the surface of the sun.
Swapfell
Worrywort
-Paranoia and anxiety bean
-also the royal scientist.
-He double checks his work about a hundred times before doing anything.
-He’s the epitome of internal screaming, but is calm on the outside.
-A fondness for riddles. He doesn’t indulge them often because it pisses off a lot of monsters.
-taught his boys how to hide and keep out of trouble. He also taught them ambush attacks, and other guerilla tactics. It was in case they ever got in a fight. Hit and run tactics would keep them alive.
-Is an amazing at strategy for combat surprisingly. He learned about it because of how the underground became so vicious.
-he has a billion locks on the doors. Windows have iron bars he welded on them. They’re wide enough for hands to reach through and open the window but that’s it.
-Was a very stressed bean with his work as the royal scientist. He brought his boys to the lab constantly just so he could relax enough to work.
-Undyne worked with him closely, and ended up becoming friends with Rus. Undyne ended up being a close family friend.
-Voice of reason. Please don’t do the thing. That thing is bad. How does he know? It’s literally written on the thing.
-When they started working on the core, he started writing notes for the boys. They were full of advice, and reminding them he loved them very much. He made them in case something bad happened because of how dangerous the project was.
-HE TOLD UNDYNE THE CORE NEEDED TO HAVE RAILS.
-He fell in during a check on the process of putting up rails.
-Undyne kept an eye on Rus and Scaryberry for him, but could only do so much since she was the new royal scientist. She kept them afloat for as long as they needed. He appreciated this deeply. He noticed she took care of them financially for as long as she could.
-he blames himself for Scaryberry’s anxiety and Rus’s extreme levels of stress. That was… his bad. He must have looked rather frantic to the kids which couldn’t have been very good for them.
-He spent a lot of time crying in the void. At least they had his letters to look to for guidance even if it didn’t cover all of their problems.
-He experimented with the void and managed to cause a reset that spit him out of the void. He doesn’t understand what happened but he accepts this bullshit.
-He finds the fallen child immediately and explains what he did, and apologizes. He begs for them to do another pacifist route, one last time. Chara wanted to live on the surface with everyone and agreed. With his help after breaking the barrier, he helped them break the reset button. It scared Chara but, he reassured them it was the right thing to do.
-7 ft tall. He’s on the taller side for monsters.
-His reunion with his boys is full of tears for everyone. Scaryberry is crying. He always wanted to know his dad and he has the chance to do that now.
-He lives with his sons because he missed too many years with them.
-He takes turns cooking with Rus, but Rus is much better than him at cooking.
-He’s okay at cleaning. He doesn’t clean up often though and will tag team a room with Scaryberry.
-He’s got insomnia, and so he struggles with sleep. He passes out on the couch often and when he wakes up he gets a bit startled before he remembers he’s on the surface and not the void.
-When the boys leave the house he’s always making sure they have everything they need. It’s important to him that they have a way to contact him.
-He listens to music a lot to relax. It helps to a degree.
-Reads to Scaryberry a lot because he didn’t get to do that a lot and Scaryberry still wants to have that sort of childhood experience.
Horrortale
Eerie
-Scratched and clawed his way out of the Void.
-His body ended up being very torn up because of this, and he lost a limb. Specifically his arm.
-Do not ask about the Void. He’d rather not talk about it and suffers PTSD from everything he witnessed. He barely escaped with his sanity.
-His humor is morbid, and self deprecating.
-low self esteem from the void. Lets just say he wasn’t exactly… alone.
-He has a rather unsettling vibe, but so do most monsters from this AU. It’s not that he’s bad, its just that… you can feel he’s seen some shit.
-Loves his boys. He couldn’t confront them right away when he crawled out of the void because he was barely keeping himself together. Not only that he was not prepared for a brawl.
-not a fighter. I’m serious. You will kick his ass. You can be terrible and still win.
-pacifist
-Loves his boys! He’s so proud of them, and they’re so brave for everything they did.
-Axe was upset about him not coming to them as soon as possible until he heard about the condition he came from the void to the underground. Now he’s just happy he has dad back at all. He could’ve been eaten so easily… It scares him.
-Scared of the dark. Requires a nightlight or some form of dim light.
-He heard one superstition and then proceeded to look up others. He now treads very lightly.
-He starts to study mythology. He loves the stories and learning what Humans believed in the time they were underground. It seems they weren’t the only ones who suffered great ordeals.
-Not a goop dad. The Void was the reason for the Goop like appearance, and he was painfully and barely holding himself together.
-believes in the paranormal. He’s seen shit that he will never elude to that makes him believe. He’s not a fool. Is everything paranormal? No, why the fuck would it be?
-After some time of getting to know his boys more, they let him move in. He’s thrilled with this.
-Rate of success for cooking is debatable. Sometimes he just shrugs and says, “It’s a fire day today I guess.”
-he’s 5’6. The Void made him shrink a bit, and was originally 6’ tall.
-excitable. He’s not loud like Sugarskull, but he’s very eager to do things and talk with people.
-He understands monsters had done what they had to do to survive. He ends up learning about how some humans have been known to cannibalize without lack of food, so he likes to shoot that back at those who judge him. He also lists any other instances of cannibalism humans have shown if people continue their rants.
-He knows how to argue/debate. It’s an important skill to him. If he makes a mistake he’s reasonable and backs down.
-Actually pretty good with people. He’s generally well liked.
-Surprisingly functional, but there are days… Those days that pull him down in the void again and he can’t escape. He’s not grounded and they sneak up on him randomly.
-Nightmare every night, but he doesn’t remember. He wakes up smiling, but with a slight feeling of terror that he tends to brush off. He’s fine nothing happened as far as he’s aware.
-Constantly reminds himself he is safe. He’s with his boys. Everythings okay. They’re on the surface.
-Randomly stomps his feet on the ground to prove to himself that it is indeed real, and that he is indeed solid. He needs the reminder.
-not a fan of Undyne. He knows what she’s done, and her decisions as a queen were foolish in his opinion.

Damn my adhd! I was so excited over a small thing I accidentally almost fell of my chair! Ugh!
I forgot to say that i figured it out!
Papyrus and alphys probably know eachother for quite some time now! (Dont know how long, but lone enough)
As papyrus and alphys both have those ~social media~ they probably talk to eachother on there!
And alphys could of just straight up told him! Or possibly even shown him some sketches. These three probably know eachother s undyne might mention alphys... ALOT.
Oh and HE KNOWS THEY LIKE EACH OTHER~ he KNOWS~ that bastard is playing Cupid, and you can just tell!~
So he probably knows a thing or two.
Now, i have a BUNCH and I mean. A BUNCH OF THEORIES.
Wanna read em?
Alright here we go!!
(Edit: btw, just keep reading, it'll all make sense in the end)
So i thought about it for some time now, and sans mentions papyrus getting stumped solving the horoscope. Now it all seems fine and dandy once you realise that WINGDINGS, also counts as a horoscope!
The only places i know that could possibly have any sign of a horoscope is sans's workshop. Or as i like to say..
Papyrus's workshop~
Whys that? HE BUILDS THINGS- HE HAS TOOLS, HAS A SHED, HE MADE THOSE PUZZLES-
WHY DOES PEOPLE KEEP CALLING IT SANS WORKSHOP??
Okay mabye, papyrus's AND sans's workshop. Who knows, mabye the lazy bones tries to work on something for once.
Im guessing since papyrus is a builder he'd need to know the blueprints.
And if anyone's wondering... I dont think GASTER actually spoke in wingdings.
I think he WROTE IN THEM.
You can translate a frog, but not texts you cant see! Gaster has a voice (you can listen to it. Just like flowey and mettaton.) He probably wrote in wingdings.
Which means, what ever papyrus is reading... Might be wingdings.
I, myself, write in wingdings as well! (Kind of fun!) My reasons for it is for secretcy, a joke, and cause its fun to discypher things.
Now... Trying to learn wingdings? Ugh, its like... A.. Junior jumble.
Literally.
No kidding this shit is like a junior jumble. It's hard, cause if you forget one or are unsure, you have to go back and see if that was the letter or not.
It gets worse when you have no idea what your looking at. You just have to guess.
Now why all this talk about blueprints.. And bla bla bla..
Well i know this is only speclatory, but what if.. Papyrus was gaster? In some way, shape or form.
And he simply.. Forgot he was.
He is "forgettable" after rall. Yet somehow, when he's gone, everyone seems to remember him?
Or mabye, he just simply forgot how to read it!
I have. I can only remember a few things now. (I took a break from wingdings lmao)
Some r... Some s... Mabye a t? Dont recall? Leave a message at the beep!
Since sans never mentioned anything about him being to read wingdings.
And if papyrus was gaster... And he spoke in some STRANGE FOREIGN TOUNGES LIKE- REALLY?
(FOR ALL WE KNOW HE COULD BE PRETENDING PIKE HIS BROTHER SANS OVER HERE WHO HAS A SHERRIF "Z's" AND NOT COMIC SANS WHEN HES SLEEPING- AND ITS A LITERAL, THOUGHT OUT SPRITE TOO SO-)
(ALSO PAPYRUS IS LITERALLY THE ONLY CHARACTER IN THE GAME WHO TYPES IN ALL UPPERCASE WHEN HES TYPING. FUCKING TYPING. AND SINCE GASTER SPEAKS IN ALL UPPERCASE- DEPSITE BOTH WINGDINGS AND PAPYRUS FONTS HAVING LOWERCASES, THEY CLEARLY BOTH LOUD PEOPLE. WHO ALSO SEEM TO LOVE BEING SILLY AT TIMES- AND HOLY MOTHER OF ASGORE ARE THEY PERSISITENT. GASTER BUILT THE FREAKIN CORE GUYS. THE CORE.)
So where am j going at with this?
Oh simple, papyrus built or partaken in mettatons body building lmao.
Yeah that was simple, don't know what all the other stuff was about.
I could of just said " lmao, he a builder, and an artist apparently, and idk lol, mabye he was freinds with alphys ever since undyne introduced him to her, and bla bla bla, oh sure! l'll help you with some stuff!"
But no, i take the scenic route. I am a person with very high standards. Sorry.
Anyways, can someone order a pizza? Im kinda hungry lol.
(No seriously i am actually hungry, its 12:21 am and rn im too excited to sleep but my body says otherwise.)
Me trying to figure out papyrus's and alphys realtionship and how he has knowledge/ access to things like mtt's eyes and stuff like:

Kale, chapter 4
Summary: It’s time for folks to get their remember on.
Wordcount: 4153
This is the second to last chapter, I think. One more after this! We’re almost there!!!
Alphys calls Undyne to ask for her Aunt’s address while Papyrus sprints home. Someone grabs the phone mid-conversation and yells about how Alphys DOESN’T SPEND ENOUGH TIME WITH THEM AS A FAMILY, ending with an invitation to tea at Undyne and Alphys’ apartment. Frisk insists they stop by a bakery on the way to pick up refreshments. It seems like the polite thing to do.
The shouty woman turns out to be former Captain Donahue, covered in battle scars that she loves to talk about. She and Undyne wrestle over who gets to pour the tea.
“So,” Undyne says around a spider don’t after Frisk explains the situation, “You’re the one I almost bit as a kid.”
“I can’t believe I forgot you,” Donahue says. “I must be getting old.”
“We’re all getting old, but that’s not what happened,” Gaster replies. He stopped dripping shortly after the meeting with Alphys, and has become considerably more solid since meeting with Donahue.
“We’ll, I’m getting old. You’re never going to age,” Donahue says with a jagged grin, elbowing Gaster hard enough to jostle the tea in his cup. “Next time, you’ll have to be the one that remembers me.”
They reminisce together. Alphys and Undyne add their childhood memories to the conversation. Frisk is content watching people come back together. They promised to save everyone from the Underground, and they intend to see that through.
“You talk to your kids yet?” Donahue asks.
“I-- hmm.” Gaster stirs his tea as he collects his thoughts. “Papyrus and I had a short discussion, but I’d like to sit down to talk about his childhood in detail.”
“You can’t find Sans, can you?” Donahue says. Her expression says that she isn’t surprised in the least.
“I saw him briefly,” Gaster defends.
Frisk points out that it was in the moment before Sans ran away.
“Yeah, I’m not surprised.” Donahue finished her tea, stretches her arms, and pulls out her phone. “Undyne, put on some more tea. I’ll be back in half an hour.”
Alphys asks, “Where are you going?”
She juts a finger at Undyne. “If this kid, who is for all intents and purposes my kid, started avoiding me? I’d know something was wrong and I’d drag her home to figure it out. And since your kid is also kind of my kid, I figure the same rules apply.”
Frisk says that Papyrus is already on it.
“If Papyrus had managed to wrangle his brother, they’d already be here by now. I’m going to track him down and make him talk to his dad.”
“Hell yeah!” Undyne cheers, “Captain Donahue dragging suspects in off the streets!”
Gaster raises a hand in comment. “Sans is not a suspect, and while I appreciate your help, please don’t hurt the man I presume to be my son.”
Donahue cracks her knuckles with a grin. “Don’t worry, Doc, nonviolent persuasion is my specialty.”
-
Donahue sets out to find Sans. Alphys, Frisk, Undyne and Gaster split into two teams to search for the grey monsters: Alphys and Undyne go to the Royal Guard Archives (used to house records from when the Royal Guard was still active) to find information about the gingerbread guard and shape-shifter, while Frisk and Gaster start looking for the monster kid and Gaster’s former lab assistant. All of them make plans to meet back at the apartment after nightfall.
The original plan was to track down the monster kid and ask them to help find the other grey monsters, but it turns out Gaster has a natural sense of the grey monsters’ locations. He drifts along the streets of New Capital, seemingly taking in the sights at random, until he leads them down a side alley by the candy shop where the monster kid is eating a discarded cinnamon bun.
“Hey,” they call as Frisk gets closer, “You found him!”
Gaster slides forward. “Hello, Monster Kid.”
Frisk is surprised to learn that Monster Kid is their actual name.
“Well, yeah. Why did you think people were calling me that?”
Frisk finds monster naming conventions to be baffling.
Gaster speaks with them for a while. Monster Kid talks about their time trapped in the Underground, and watching people emerge from the caves once the barrier lifted. They cheered as monster-human negotiations got underway and New Capital began to take shape. They felt a combination of pride and emptiness as the world moved on without them.
Frisk, who has been very patient up until now, asks about the Monster Kid who used to idolize Undyne.
“That’s my twin,” Monster Kid exclaims, “We hatched from the same egg!”
Frisk, child of the Monster Monarch and renowned Interspecies Diplomat, nods in fake understanding.
Monster Kid talks more about themselves and their life, helping Frisk generate new memories that will keep them in this timeline. By the end of the conversation, they’re looking much more stable.
Gaster also looks more stable. He rattles off an explanation about his corporeal form being linked to the stability of the timeline when Monster Kid asks, but Frisk tunes him out in favor of studying the face that’s just emerged from the ground. They wave at it. An arm materializes and waves back.
“…so it will be key to find the other monsters that were in the Core that day,” Gaster concludes, “We have some friends looking for the more volatile ones, but we still need to find the man who was with me that day.”
Frisk tugs on his coat and points at the face in the ground.
“I heard you were in town,” Gerald says faintly, giving another wave.
They go through the same remembering process. Gerald doesn’t seem to have adapted to half-life as well as Monster Kid, but luckily, Gaster has first-hand memories to cement his place in the timeline. Frisk wanders into town for tea, and comes back to all three monster seated in the side alley, trading stories about their time in the void.
“Thank you,” Gaster says as Frisk hands him a cup, “This has been an extremely beneficial conversation. I’m disappointed we didn’t try to spend time together before now.”
Frisk points out that they didn’t have the means to find each other, let alone any reason to believe their situations weren’t unique.
“They make a good point,” Gerald agrees. His voice still has an echoing quality to it, but he can no longer fully immerse himself in the ground. Frisk smiles into their tea, and privately considers this to be excellent progress.
-
They pick up dinner sandwiches on the way back. They scroll through their contacts while their order comes together, and dial the one labeled ‘Mom’.
Toriel picks up on the third ring. “Hello, my child. How is your journey faring?”
Frisk says it’s going well. They have someone they’d like to introduce to Toriel later, but for now they’re going to have dinner with Undyne and Alphys.
“I understand. Tell them I said ‘hello’,” Toriel says.
Frisk can hear the smile in her voice. They tell her they’ll be home before too much longer. The monster behind the counter calls their order number, and they say a quick goodbye.
“I love you too,” Toriel replies as she hangs up.
“You can’t know how long this will take,” Gaster says, taking the larger sandwich bag so Frisk doesn’t have to carry it.
Frisk disagrees. They’re fairly certain their services won’t be needed much longer tonight.
-
Someone is shouting in Undyne and Alphys’ apartment. Frisk puts an ear to the door before knocking. They can hear an argument brewing on the other side, and what sounds like someone pacing rapidly in the main room.
“…still the same man,” says a voice that sounds like Papyrus’.
“He’s not.” This one sounds like Sans.
“How would you know? You haven’t spoken with him for years.”
“Well, since you seem to know more about it than me, maybe you can tell: if I haven’t spoken with him in years, who was floating around in the void with me all that time? Because, in case you hadn’t noticed—”
There’s a noise like lighting zinging across a confined space.
“—I spent a considerable amount of time out there too.”
“Oh, oh, I know this one,” Papyrus says with fake excitement, “Let’s see. Our father, who you didn’t tell me about since he disappeared, and also our real father, who you never told me about!”
“Papyrus,” someone else says sharply. It could be Donahue or Undyne.
“You told him?!” Sans roars.
“Don’t blame her just because you didn’t tell me!” Papyrus yells back. “Why didn’t you tell me we had two dads?”
“We don’t!” It sounds like Sans has also begun pacing. Frisk imagines the skeleton brothers angrily stomping around each other in the sitting room. It would be funny if the subject matter weren’t so dire.
“I should be in there,” Gaster whispers from over Frisks’ shoulder, where he’s also listening in on the argument.
“We have one dad,” Sans insists, “You don’t—You have no idea what it was like.”
“And who’s fault is that, hmm?!”
Luckily, the door is unlocked. Frisk and Gaster sneak into the apartment, carefully easing the door shut behind them. Sans and Papyrus are indeed both pacing the length of the room, angrily gesturing and pointing at each other in turns. Undyne and Alphys are watching the proceedings from the couch, while Donahue rolls her eyes and polishes a sword in an armchair.
“Mine, okay, it was mine. I didn’t tell you, and I told them not to tell you, and I did it because I love you!”
Papyrus is seething with indignation. “You had no right--”
“You’re right! You’re right, I should have--” Sans’ pacing comes to a stop. His rare fit of anger seems to abate as suddenly as it came on, leaving him pale and drained. “You’re right. I should have told you when you became an adult.”
Having Sans side with him takes the explosive edge off of Papyrus rage. He takes a few deep breaths to get his shouting under control. “Why didn’t you?”
“Because it’s not safe for us to be around him.” Sans crosses the carpet and reaches up to put his hands on Papyrus’ shoulders. “You don’t remember because you were just a baby, but I do. He was dangerous before he spent twenty years locked up for theft and murder, he’ll just be more dangerous now.”
Papyrus holds Sans’ wrists. “He’s our father.”
“No he isn’t.”
It comes out so harshly, Papyrus is taken aback. Everyone in the room, who were already silent, now seems to be holding their breath.
Sans clears his throat and tries again in a gentler tone. “No, he isn’t. I went out into the world because I believed that you deserved more than that man could give you.” He holds Papyrus’ face with both hands. “When this is over, I promise I’ll tell you everything about where we came from, but for now, please. I’ve done everything to keep you safe since you were created. Let me be your protective big brother one more time.”
Papyrus looks like he’s brimming with questions. He kneels down and wraps both arms around Sans. They cling to each other for a long moment.
“Okay,” Papyrus says quietly when the pull back. “But after you find him, you owe me an explanation.”
“I do,” Sans replies, straightening his jacket. Frisk notices it’s older than the one he usually wears, with patches lovingly sewn into the elbows and neat lines of stitching where the hem has been repaired. He readjusts the fabric across his shoulders, then flashes Papyrus a shaky grin. “I promise, I’ll spare no detai--”
He catches sight of Gaster over Papyrus’ shoulder.
Gaster smiles and waves.
Sans stares at him.
Papyrus realizes something is going on. He glances back and returns Gaster’s wave.
“Sans,” Donahue says quietly, “Go talk to your dad.”
Sans maneuvers so he’s standing between Papyrus and his dad. When nothing happens, he slowly shuffles across the room towards Gaster.
“Do you know who you are?” he asks cautiously.
“I do,” Gaster says. He puts both hands on Sans’ shoulder, the way Sans was holding Papyrus’ shoulders a moment ago. Gaster smiles.
Sans continues to stare. He touches one of the hands resting on his shoulder. It’s completely solid, and the string attaching it to Gaster’s body now runs through a clearly defined sleeve. “Do you know who I am?”
“I do, my son,” Gaster says.
Sans tentatively touches Gaster’s coat. When his fingers to slide through, he grabs it with both hands and hangs on. “H-hey, Dings. Long time no see.”
“Too long,” Gaster agrees, gently pulling Sans in for an embrace.
Sans blinks in frozen uncertainty. Papyrus sweeps them both up in his arms, and only then does Frisk catch a small, tentative smile on his face.

Donahue kicks of the debriefing of their three-pronged plan by picking Sans up by the back of his jacket. It seems to be for demonstration purposes.
“Found a weenie, brought a weenie in. Gaster is solid.” She says. “Mission successful.”
She hands Sans off to Papyrus and grabs her sandwich from the bag. Papyrus sets Sans back on the couch next to Gaster, then takes his own seat on Gaster’s other side.
Frisk gives a brief explanation of how they found Monster Kid and Gerald. They’re laying low until Gaster makes contact with the other two grey monsters, which will hopefully be enough to bring all five of them back into alignment with the timeline.
Alphys finishes the meeting by pulling out two manilla folders. “Turns out the records are exactly where they’re supposed to be, but no one has noticed them since the Core explosion. I guess they got caught in the same perception filter that kept us from noticing anyone was missing.”
She opens a folder on the coffee table. Inside is a picture of the gingerbread monster Frisk saw. She’s wearing an official Royal Guard uniform, and has a small metal rectangle attached to her breastplate. “This is Officer Lyrata. Her last assignment was to guard the Gaster apartment after--”
Alphys opens the second folder. This one has a mug shot of a reptilian-looking man in a prisoner’s tunic. “This man,” she continues, “Escaped from prison. No name on record. It looks like he was serving a 20 year sentence for theft of royal property, felony child abuse, and kidnapping. There’s also a note in here that says he’s also charged with human murder, but the legal systems had no way to process that at the time.”
Papyrus examines the picture closely.
“Frisk,” Alphys says, “Is this the man you saw?”
Frisk says that it is.
“Sans?” She asks tentatively.
“That’s dad alright,” Sans says, crossing his arms. “Hey Undyne, think you can get his sentence extended for tampering with the Underground’s primary energy source?”
“Don’t see why not,” she says. Her arms are also crossed and she’s scowling at the file. “He got one of my best officers wiped out of the timeline. Let’s add assault on a Royal Guard to the list, too.”
“Alright, we know who this is. Now we just need to find him, bring him back, and put him back in jail.”
Frisk says that last time, this man found them. They don’t know how to find him again.
“I’ll find him.” Sans says.
Papyrus, who has been studying the picture, looks at him. “Are you sure?”
“It’s the only way to bring everyone else back, right? So, I’ll go find him and make sure he’s on board.”
“I like that plan, except for the part where Sans implies he’s doing it alone,” Donahue says. “I’m going, too.”
“Donnie, you don’t--”
Donahue aims a clawed finger in Sans’ direction. “Don’t you ‘Donnie’ me, young man. I personally oversaw your case the first time around, I’m not going to let you go into this by yourself.”
“Me too,” Papyrus says.
“No,” Sans and Donahue reply firmly.
“I also disagree,” Gaster adds.
“Why not?”
“He’s a dangerous man,” Donahue says. “You can meet him once he’s back behind bars.”
“But I can help!”
“Paps,” Sans says.
“After all this time, maybe he’s changed. And why does Sans get to go?”
“Paps,” Sans says more firmly. “Even if he has changed, what could he possibly say to us? To you?”
Papyrus looks like he wants to argue the point, but holds himself back at the last moment. “Let me know as soon as you catch him.”
“Will do,” Donahue agrees.
“We’ll catch him, you and I can sit down together and talk about what happened, and then we can go see him,” Sans promises.
Frisk asks how he plans to find this man.
Sans rolls his shoulders. “Pretty sure if I just hang out in empty places, he’ll find me.”
-
Frisk tries to volunteer for the finding mission, but with the child abuse and human murder charges on the man’s rap sheet, they are firmly told to go home for this part. This was the expected outcome. They make Alphys promise to call if there are any developments, then head out into the city.
This sun is just starting to set as Frisk leaves the apartment building, and shops are lighting up as darkness sets in. Frisk adjusts their bag on their shoulders and takes the best-lit paths.
Sans steps out of a side street as Frisk passes. He has both hands tucked into the pockets of his worn old hoodie. “Hey, kiddo.”
Frisk says they thought Sans didn’t want them involved in this.
“I don’t, but I’ve got some time before I need to go dad-hunting. Figured I’d walk you home.
Frisk asks if Sans thinks they’re in danger.
He shrugs. “I don’t think so. Dad never hated humans, he just wanted to get out of the Underground. Someone more emotionally stable than me might say he was doing what he thought was best for monsterkind. Not me, you understand, just. Someone else.”
Frisk nods. Sans falls into step with them. The darkness hasn’t quite settled, and the various shops don’t have many night-market patrons yet. They walk together through the sparse crowds.
Frisk asks why Sans didn’t just teleport them home.
“I wanted to stretch my legs before getting the show on the road.”
Papyrus kept bugging him for details, didn’t he?
Sans chuckles. “Kid has a good sense of curiosity, I’ll give him that. Too bad it comes with a bad sense of self preservation.”
Frisk says that Papyrus is lucky to have Sans looking out for him.
“Heh, yeah.”
They walk together. The early stars begin to pepper across the sky.
“So I was also hoping to say some stuff before everything goes down tomorrow.” Sans says in a way that's far to nonchalant to be casual.
Frisk gestures him on.
“Well, uh.” He coughs into his fist. “You saw my telescope, right? The one with the—”
Ink on the lens, yes. Frisk knows.
“Yeah, that one. It's a good prank. I found the telescope in the dump as a kid, and brought it home and repaired and polished until it was good as new. It was great for studying the sparkling rock underground, but I never told anybody that I kept it because I really, honestly wanted to look up at the real night sky one day. I wanted to sit above ground and see planets and stars out there in space.” He looks at Frisk. “We'd never have made it to the surface without you, and I know everybody's already showered you with gratitude a thousand times over, but I never got around to saying anything myself. So, thanks for that.”
Frisk tells Sans that he's welcome.
“And now, after you've gone and saved all of monsterkind—”
Except for a few.
“Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. No one would have blamed you for sacrificing five monsters to save the rest of the species, but you decided that wasn't good enough. You really, honestly wanted to save everyone, and one of those was the guy who raised Papyrus and me. Without you, the world would have kept going without them, and without him. I never would have seen Gaster again. So, thanks, for bringing him back.”
Frisk gives a stoic thumbs-up.
“And you're so weirdly modest about it!” Sans reaches over and ruffles Frisk's hair. “God, you're cool.”
The hair-mussing leave Frisk with something like a bird's nest on their head. Peering out of their messy bangs, they can see Sans smiling. They’ve never seen the tension around his eyes let up like this before. They decide this is alright.
“What a touching scene,” says a voice from the crowd.
Frisk looks up sharply. They were so busy gauging Sans’ emotional reaction, they weren’t paying attention. Color has drained out of the immediate area, leaving this section of the world in doused in grayscale. It’s enough to cover Sans, Frisk, and a man of medium height wearing a prisoner’s tunic.
“Hello,” the last grey monster says with a wave.
Sans seizes Frisk by the backpack and jumps them away. Frisk gets the feeling he picked a distance and direction at random, because they rematerialize on the roof of a nearby building. The world around them is normal for a moment before the muted grey swirls back in.
“You can’t outrun me,” says the man in the prison tunic.
Sans teleports again, this time to the middle of a hiking trail on Mount Ebbot. The grey silence is already there, waiting for them.
“You forget,” the man says, “You draw your abilities from the same place I do.”
Frisk grabs Sans’ hand as he prepares to run again. They pull back, reminding him that finding his father was the plan, right?
“You did say I’d be the one to find you,” the man points out.
Sans steps in front of Frisk, placing himself between them and the grey monster. “Yeah, okay, I did, and I’m not even going to ask how you knew that. But this has nothing to do with them. Let me take them home, and we can talk.”
“I’m going to have to disagree with you. According to my sources, your friend there has made a habit of bringing monsters out of the void. I’d like the same courtesy and, if you don’t mind me saying so, I don’t trust you to follow through on your end of things, son.”
“Don’t call me that,” Sans hisses, then immediately bites his tongue.
The damage is done; the man grins widely. “Oh, Sans. And here I thought you were done trying to run away from me.”
Sans squares his shoulders. “There will always be a part of me that’s trying to run away from you, but you know what? That doesn’t matter. What does matter is that I have to bring you back before I can bring someone much more deserving back. So I am going to remember everything about you and drag you kicking and screaming back out of the void.”
“No need to get violent,” the man says. “I’m as ready to get back into the timeline as you are to have you imposter father back. Jail is infinitely preferable to this.”
Sans stares at him. “That’s it? Just like that, you’re willing to come back?”
“Of course. I can’t do anything like this, but I can always escape from jail.”
“I can’t believe I forgot how arrogant you are,” Sans grumbles. “Okay, fine. I’ll meet you… somewhere. But not now.”
“I’m sure you can understand why that isn’t going to work for me,” the man says impatiently.
Sans’ eyes narrow. A moment later, he and Frisk are standing in Undyne and Alphys’ living room. Papyrus and Gaster seem to have gone home, but Donahue is sitting on the couch scrolling through something on her phone.
“Hey Sans,” she says, raising an eyebrow when she notices Frisk. “Thought you went home?”
“We’re about to have company, and I wanted your help with them,” Sans says as grey starts to creep in around the corners of the room.
“Oh,” Donahue says, putting down her phone. “You found your dad?”
“Yeah. Wasn’t hard.” Sans’ right eye goes dark as he charges up his magic.
Donahue summons a spear. “Okay. He mad?”
Sans takes a deep breath and sits down on the floor. “I can never tell.”
“I’m not angry,” says a voice from nowhere. The man materializes in the middle of the room. “Just disappointed.”
“I said we could talk, I didn’t say you could control the conversation,” Sans says.
“Hmm.” The man studies Sans’ face. “You never did get that eye fixed.”
“Yeah, thanks for that.” Sans points at the spot in front of him. “Now sit down and shut up so we can get this over with. I’ve got some unpleasant remembering to do.”
