as someone who 1. had the books read to her as a child 2. loved them 3.went to the book release parties 4. went to the movies release day 5. cosplayed ficced and fanarted 6. made friends through the fandom I get it.
I get that it's a fun world to play in and you have an attachment to the characters and the flaws of the writing were about on par for a lot of kids fiction at the time even with much better stuff out there it was a unique major pop cultural moment and the fandom did change lives and create friendships. I would never argue that it always being bad means anyone should feel guilty for enjoying it cause that's not how art works. things with bad qualities by bad people can still be influential and their popularity can sill come from a sincere place.
and even with all that, I accepted that I have spent a lot of time and money on the franchise in the past but she soured the idea of continuing to engage with it. I can hold my nostalgia and experiences close to my heart and still chose to disengage from fandom and new content.
I'm just SAYING that this author has done and continues to do real harm in the mainstreaming of her transphobia, and even if you don't conceded that fandom that doesn't line her pockets still keeps HP in a place of pop cultural relevance that supports her financially, I am begging you not to even hate watch this now you know she is involved. do not discuss it unless you are telling uninformed general fans about why she is harmful. let it flop.
"read another book" glosses over the actual phenomenon of how this fandom was experienced. It was so pervasive in a way that has not been replicated. but I am asking you to think about if you want to continue to tie your positive experiences to the words and actions of a bigot who campaigns and donates towards harm and amplifies the voices of extremists. I am asking you to accept that it was something you enjoyed but that you can't recapture that feeling by sitting on this rotting corpse of a fandom. I encourage you to take your friends with you and make whatever you get into contain that same spark of creativity and collaboration the HP fandom gave you be creating it yourselves.
Even Daniel Radcliffe has made clear his support for trans people and said of Rowling "-nothing in my life would have probably happened the way it is without that person. But that doesn’t mean that you owe the things you truly believe to someone else for your entire life.”
you don't have to throw out your merch and denounce HP in the public square, you just have to stop spending money and attention. it's the lack of action that is the bare minimum. it's so easy.
since much of her political news rantings are based in the UK i will just link a relevant charity and encourage anyone inclined to donate
https://mermaidsuk.org.uk/
Welp, if JK Rowling being executive producer and therefore being fully involved in the show wasn't enough for people to boycott, then here's HBO basically saying they don't care JK Rowling is a bigot from hell who literally helped lead a harassment campaign of lies against Imane Khalif in her transphobia and obsession with women being terf's standards of women alongside posting harassment against trans people on twitter at times, they gonna stand by her, while using the excuse, "personal views". Hmm, yes, personal views- that's one way to uh, call what the fuck JK Rowling comes out with a-lot- last I checked personal views do come with consquiences if said out loud....a thousand times in JK's case and still counting....especially if they hurt people, but hey, if it means making another Harry Potter project to milk, just let it fucking be I guess.

Hey Shan!! IDK if you're planning to do a BL wrap up or superlatives or anything like that this year so this question might be a bit too early but um...what has been a few of your favorite first watches for 2024 bls?
Hi Eboni! This is actually pretty good timing for a list because most of the shows that will end within 2024 are already over! The only two I could see maybe making my list that have not ended yet are Love is Like a Poison (Japan) and Blue Canvas of Youthful Days (China), so I'll mention them here (fingers crossed they end well and stay favs).
That said, here are my favorite completed BLs of 2024 (alpha order)!
At 25:00 in Akasaka (Japan, Gaga)
Two actors who first met in college are cast in a bl together, old feelings resurface, and the lines between their professional and private lives start to blur. This show is super beautiful and moody.
Cooking Crush (Thailand, YouTube or WeTV for uncut)
Ten and Prem are my favorite of OffGun's many couples. Ten is a med student with food issues who wants to learn how to cook, and Prem is a chef in training. Their romance is super sweet and I also really like the side couple and friend groups in this one.
Cherry Magic Thailand (Thailand, YouTube or Viu, requires VPN)
I still can't believe this show happened. How on earth did GMMTV manage to make a superior version of Cherry Magic?? Tay Tawan had a lot to do with it, along with a very smart adaptation. It's so sweet and funny and perfect (if you just pretend ep 8 doesn't exist).
City of Stars (Thailand, iQIYI)
I was surprised by how much I liked this charming little Thai pulp. It had an interesting story with strong writing and the pair was very good together. More people should watch it!
I Became the Main Role of a BL Drama (Japan, Gaga)
This is a short and sweet and note perfect BL comedy about two actors falling for each other while making a BL. Loaded with meta jokes about the industry and stan culture and very loving about it.
Knock Knock Boys (Thailand, Gaga)
I am obsessed with this excellent Thai BL that not nearly enough people watched. Two couples, both compelling and sexy and fun, and amazing friendship dynamics. I want everyone to watch it!
Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo (S Korea, iQIYI)
My top BL of the year. It's a second chance romance, you see the characters both in high school and later as adults and I don't really want to spoil anything else about it. It's beautiful, the characters are so compelling, and the story is masterfully told.
Love for Love's Sake (S Korea, iQIYI)
This one is special and quite unique, and I also don't want to spoil much about it! It begins with a basic isekai set up that then goes to some unexpected places. Really, really beautiful show.
Love Sea (Thailand, iQIYI)
Definitely my favorite spicy romance of the year. I really loved a lot about the story for this one, in particular the class dynamics that defined the characters and their relationship, and Mahasamut (played by Fort) is on my list of favorite drama characters this year.
Marahuyo Project (Philippines, YouTube)
We didn't get much from the Philippines this year, but they did drop one absolute banger in this show about a fierce and proud gay kid who gets booted out of school in Manila and sent to live with his grandma and mother on a small island. He makes friends and enemies and starts an LGBTQ+ club, and falls in love along the way.
Mr Mitsuya's Planned Feeding (Japan, fansub)
An excellent age gap romance about a young editor and the chef who writes for his magazine making food together and falling in love. Lots of fun side characters, too. I loved every minute of this show.
Perfect Propose (Japan, Gaga)
Two old friends meet when one of them is in need of housing and one is on the verge of a nervous breakdown from a soul-sucking corporate job, and help each other heal. This one is short and sweet.
Ossan's Love Returns (Japan, Gaga)
This one is technically a sequel, but you can enjoy it without having seen the original (and might like it better that way, tbh). One of the funniest shows of the year and featuring a main couple that is a personal fav and are now on my ride or die list.
Takara's Treasure (Japan, Gaga)
This one is a simple story but so, so sweet. A cute little bean follows his mysterious idol to university and joins the hiking club to get to know him better. They get to know each other slowly and fall in love.
Unknown (Taiwan, Viki)
ALMOST my favorite bl of the year, but we had a few issues on the back end. Despite that, I still loved it a whole lot. A family drama and a love story about two chosen brothers whose relationship changes over time. Easily the best BL Taiwan made this year.
Looking at this list, I am realizing how absolutely invaluable my Gaga and iQIYI subscriptions have become; it's where nearly all my favorite BL is airing.

Switching Sides
Summary: In a day filled with business and adventure, Lando and Y/N teach their children the balance of strength and kindness, reminding them that family is their true source of power and purpose.
Genre: Mafia!Dad!Lando, fluff
TW: Mafia
A/N: alright last one for today! English is not my first language. I hope you enjoy it though! Requests are open and welcome!
Masterlist
The Norris household was a quiet chaos that morning, with everyone preparing for their separate plans.
For a family tied to the mafia, days like these felt almost normal—if you didn’t count the subtle presence of Lando’s ever-alert guards around the estate.
Lando stood by the entryway, fixing the cuffs of his tailored suit. His son, Jacob, stood beside him, adjusting his small tie with an air of importance.
Jacob, at just 8 years old, already had an innate knack for understanding people and strategy, much like his mother. He idolized her calm demeanor, seeing her as the embodiment of wisdom and kindness.
Y/N walked into the room with a cheerful smile, her bright energy a perfect contrast to Lando’s composed sternness.
“You both look very dashing today,” she said, bending down to straighten Jacob’s tie.
“Important meeting today,” Jacob said seriously, looking up at his father. “Right, Dad?”
Lando smirked. “Exactly, champ. Time to learn how we handle business.”
“Don’t overwhelm him,” Y/N teased, patting Lando’s chest. “He’s still a kid.”
Jacob puffed out his chest. “I can handle it, Mum.”
“I know you can,” she said, ruffling his hair. “But don’t forget to have fun too, okay?”
Meanwhile, Amelia bounded down the stairs, her messy curls bouncing with each step. She was the spitting image of Lando in both appearance and spirit—sharp, determined, and a little mischievous.
“Are we ready, Mum?” she asked excitedly.
“Almost,” Y/N replied, grabbing her bag. “We have some errands to run in town and a little surprise after that.”
Amelia’s eyes lit up. “What kind of surprise?”
“You’ll see,” Y/N said, winking.
Lando and Jacob arrived at the grand hall of one of his businesses, the air thick with authority and tension.
Lando’s trusted men greeted them, but their smiles softened at the sight of Jacob, who was a rare glimpse of innocence in their otherwise hardened world.
“Is this your apprentice, boss?” one of the men asked, chuckling.
“He’s my shadow today,” Lando replied, his tone light but firm.
As the meeting began, Jacob sat beside his father at the long, polished table, his feet barely touching the ground.
Lando’s men presented reports and discussed strategies, occasionally glancing at Jacob with curiosity.
To their surprise, Jacob asked thoughtful questions, his young mind already picking up on the nuances of the discussions.
“Why don’t we just talk to them instead of being tough?” he asked during a debate about a rival group.
The room fell silent, and all eyes turned to Lando.
Lando leaned down to his son’s level, his voice low but kind. “Sometimes, being tough is how you protect the people you care about. But knowing when to talk? That’s just as important.”
Jacob nodded, processing his father’s words. The men exchanged looks of quiet admiration, realizing the boy was already learning lessons that most of them had struggled to grasp.
Meanwhile, Y/N and Amelia were strolling through the heart of town. Their first stop was a local orphanage where Y/N often volunteered.
Amelia held a bag of toys, eagerly handing them out to the children. She played with them, her laughter ringing through the room as she organized a game of tag.
“You’re so much like your mother,” one of the staff members said to Amelia. “Always bringing joy wherever you go.”
Amelia beamed. “Mum says it’s important to be kind.”
Y/N watched her daughter with pride, her heart swelling at the sight of Amelia spreading happiness.
Later, they visited a bakery, where Amelia chose treats for the staff back at the estate.
“Dad’s going to steal these,” Amelia said, eyeing a box of pastries.
“He’ll have to go through us first,” Y/N joked, handing over the box.
Their final stop was a park, where Y/N surprised Amelia with tickets to a carnival set up nearby. Amelia’s excitement was contagious as they rode Ferris wheels, played games, and enjoyed the bright, festive atmosphere.
By the evening, the family was back at the estate, gathered in the cozy living room.
Amelia excitedly recounted their day, her hands waving animatedly as she described the carnival rides and the smiles on the children’s faces at the orphanage.
Jacob listened intently, his expression thoughtful. “We talked about protecting people today,” he said, glancing at his father. “I think being kind is like protecting too.”
Y/N’s heart melted as she looked between her children and Lando. “You’re absolutely right, Jacob.”
Lando wrapped an arm around her shoulders, his normally stoic face soft with affection.
“Looks like they’re both learning from the best,” he said, glancing at Y/N.
She laughed. “I think we make a pretty good team.”
“Unstoppable,” Lando agreed, pulling her closer.
In their chaotic world of power and danger, moments like these reminded Lando why he fought so fiercely.
His family was his anchor, and he would do anything to keep them safe and happy.
Thank you for reading!

Jealous, jealous, jealous.
Summary: Little!reader spending the whole Midsummers playing with JJ and Rafe is feeling neglected.
Warnings: Age regression, slight angst, fluff in the end:)
Rafe took you with him to Midsummers, hoping that both of you would have a great time together, but unfortunately things didn’t go as planned. He was staying aside with his friends, watching you play with JJ for the whole night. Of course Rafe could’ve prevented that by paying you a little bit more attention, but he couldn’t because of how much that event meant for his family and especially for his father. So now he was just standing there and hoping that you would notice him or at least come up to ask for something, but it seemed that you didn’t need him while JJ was there. Rafe didn’t want to be that much of an asshole and pull you away from him since you seemed like you were having a lot of fun. He decided that he would speak about it with you later, in private.
When the party finally ended, Rafe had grabbed your hand, not even letting you say goodbye to JJ.
„Bye, little one!”
JJ shouted, waving his hand, causing Rafe to send him a warning glare. He’s going to have a little chat with your „friend” later. But for now he headed straight to his room, not even bothering to look at you. You could feel that he was disappointed with you or even angry, but you didn’t know what exactly you did wrong since you had been on your best behavior the whole evening. When he had closed the door, you were ready for him to tell the reason for his behavior, but instead he just silently turned around, probably not knowing what to say.
„Daddy, what happen’?”
It was something new—the side that you had never seemed before. What could you possibly have done for him to be this upset with you? You approached him, not touching him yet, just staring, waiting for him to turn around and say at least something. And he did.
„Did you have fun playing with JJ?”
His words weren’t harsh; he didn’t seem angry or furious, just... sad? It sounded like an actual question, so your little brain told you to come up with a sincere answer.
„Yeah! He gave me sweets and played with me!“
Rafe nodded before you saw something that you thought you would never see him doing. His eyes became watery before he finally teared up. In that moment you knew that you would do whatever it takes to never see that again; it was hurting you worse than any of his punishments or harsh words that he had said to you before.
„Baby, I know that I am not the best at taking care of you, so if you want to leave me, I would understand that and...”
He didn’t have a chance to finish. You immediately pulled him into your arms, giving him the biggest hug that you possibly could. You were trying to stay strong and not to start crying yourself, but you failed, letting out a few sniffles.
„I love you, Daddy, I don't want another Daddy, I pwomise.”
You said, and he finally hugged you back, pulling you closer in his embrace. Those words meant so much to him, especially after all the overthinking that he had going on in his head that night.
While he was holding you in his arms, he felt you poking his side and let out a small laugh, quickly catching your hand. He titled your head up, gently grabbing your chin with his fingers. Your face still had a string of tears, just like his.
Oh, you were both such a crybabies.
„No, bunny. That’s my method, and you don’t get to use it on me.”
He said, before quickly poking your tummy just to make you smile. Rafe then leaned down and kissed your cheeks, not able to hold himself back. He was so happy that you were still his. His sweet little girl.
„Let’s get that fancy dress off of you, and then we’ll go to bed. It’s almost your bedtime.”
You nodded, feeling a little tired and overwhelmed from all those new people you had to meet at the Midsummers. Usually it was hard for Rafe to put you in bed, but today you were too sleepy to argue.
„Oh, and also...”
His gaze met yours, and the small, sly smile appeared on his face for a second before he would say something that he knew you wouldn’t like.
„No sweets for a week.”
It wasn’t an actual punishment; he just wanted to have a little revenge on you. Your little pout was adorable to him, especially after everything you put him through tonight. But you didn’t argue with his decision.
After all, you deserved that, right?

The love that with stands time
There are loves the within the many years that go by in the galaxy, as there is a special spark that connects many lives together. Even when times change and along with everyone else, there was still a bond that keep on going. The love that still keep on going over the years, even after all that happened was still there.
y/n " This is earth" you had arrived at the planet of earth, you had come to see those who you held ver close.
optimus " incoming aircraft state you name"
y/n " hello orion it has been so time hasn't it my dear"
Optimus " y/n"
y/n " yes it good to hear your voice after not being able to speak for a while"

Ratchet " all will be good no need to jump to conclusions bulkhead, but I and optimus and have planned just in case this happens" the kids have many questions, but they were going to ask them very much later on. Right now it was good to have you pack with them and back with optimus as well, as the two of you are enjoying a ride and falling in love with the new place that you will call home. It was great to be back with optimus your spark mate and you were hoping this peace will last forever.

okay time to collect some thoughts
spoilers for season 2
as soon as they said there were other regions going to be explored, I knew Noxus was going to be the big thing, and that the battle between the cities and the class conflict angles of the story were going to be set aside. if you know me, you know I would hate this, but because I anticipated it, it wasn't too bad. I had already killed the version of the show I wanted in my head and was ready to take things as they came. and it wasn't all bad. Ambessa makes for a great villain, and all the twists and turns with her and Mel were pretty enjoyable
that being said, the second season in general did away with most of the things I liked about the first: subtlety, nuance, environmental storytelling (and all that sweet sweet class conflict)---I mean the cities just faded into the background as we watched everything play out. even a lot of the great character work we got in the first season was just left as it was. most the characters didn't really get to move much from where they were in the first season. even the ones I enjoyed (like Ambessa) were essentially the same as they were before. there were a lot of things that were cool. a lot of things that were interesting. most of them don't work when put together
Jayce? liked him this season, actually. had fun when he was suffering lol and fighting Viktor. Jayce disappearing out of the blue when the basement of the hexgates wasn't set up at all? boooooo
Jinx? gets to realize she isn't just a jinx. gets to help people. is this realized in a satisfying way? nope. we get one scene of people touching her and then Isha dies and she's back where she was at the start of the season, almost. plus her relationship with Sevika just drops off, and I was having fun with that
Cait? love her evil era. I also like that the plot didn't let her entirely off the hook. love less how she engaged in fucking chemical warfare like what even and that was never addressed
Ekko? has my whole heart. did before, but whatever. saved everyone's asses by being the best boy. love how he's motivated by helping the people who need him. love MUCH less that we never get to see him doing that work. like what did he think of Jinx becoming inspiring to people? how would that combine with his experience in the alternate timeline?
I could go on. I might be better prepared to deal with this than some because I didn't think it would be good in the first place lol I had like no hope. it was such a grand show in the first place and they made it so much grander. there's a lot to like, but the first season REALLY carries it. it feels like two separate shows. I don't begrudge anyone really liking the second season, but I will maintain that the fanbase deserved (and still deserves) better

hi! i'd like to talk about losing. you don't have to read this if you don't want to, but i wanted to write it, and guess what, it's my blog. i just like this team a lot and i'm feeling a little maudlin about my guys and a little sick to fucking death of the shit i'm seeing all over kingdom come from 'fans'. so here we are.
So You Became A Fan Of A Living Legend But The Hockey Team Is Bad: a commentary.
look. this is not the most fun i've ever had watching hockey, and i'm quite sure a lot of people feel the same way. the penguins are bad this season! they were bad last season too, but there's something very special about the extent to which they are shit right now. and those are not fun games to watch.
but here's the thing: who cares.
like, idk. there's so much god damn negativity surrounding this team and its performance right now, and i'm guilty of contributing to it as well, because yeah of course i'd rather watch a team win in decisive fashion most nights. of course i'd rather dream about may and june and the stanley cup. of course i want to watch that happen again for my favorite players. like, duh.
but. it's probably not going to. not if these players get what they want, which is to play together on this team until they're ready to retire.
and you know what? that's fine. if they're fine with it, who on earth am i to not be?
i think we all have the same reaction when we see idiots online saying things like 'sid doesn't deserve this trade him to a contender'. and that's because we are smarter and more refined fans who understand that what sidney crosby DESERVES is to select how and where and when his career ends. is it on a team that sucks? then that means being here is more important to him than getting that fourth cup. staying with geno and kris and the penguins as a whole, never putting on another NHL logo, is more significant to him personally than another victory. and isn't that special? isn't that worth celebrating?
of course we know all of that because we're better at being fans than the uncles online who are writing weird fanfic in their heads. but. guess what that comes with:
losing.
and losing badly, in the case of this season.
i am here to tell you that sitting and bitching about it helps no one. right now, what we have to watch and celebrate is our favorite players still playing at a high level. they're still doing cool stuff on the ice. and they're doing it TOGETHER. this is what they wanted. so your options are either to hate it and sit in negativity about it each and every game, OR readjust your mindset and learn to enjoy what we have while we have it.
we are watching myth-making happen live. we are watching living legends play hockey. this is a privilege and an honor and it's not something most fanbases get EVER. and we have two! can you believe it?
there are things i would have rather seen done differently over the last couple of years. as far back as 2019 there were moves i disagreed with and changes that could have been made that perhaps could have extended their window. and of course the 2022 series against the rangers, that was a very good team that got hit by injuries at the absolute worst possible time, and probably that was their last chance as a core to compete. it's frustrating to watch that stuff happen when you have no control over it.
the pittsburgh penguins were high-end competitors and contenders for seventeen years straight. that's insane and unheard of in this league. they're not anymore. and the price you pay for almost two decades of dominance is...being bad. when you're competing you trade prospects and draft picks for win-now players. sometimes those work out, most of the time they don't. with the amount of winning this team has done, even the trades that didn't work were worth it, because it meant they were trying.
there are no fanbases who are going to feel bad for penguins fans right now. that's also why we're getting so much attention from the national media. people aren't used to this team being as bad as it is, and people like watching downfalls. that's fine. most of those fans have never watched their team win, and most of them never will. so if their joy is coming from sidney crosby's team being bad....well, love and light, you know?
and we shouldn't feel bad for ourselves either. this is what happens. this is how it goes. this is the price for the band staying together.
i dunno, guys. this is a disjointed rant. it's just so effing hard to be kicked in the nuts everywhere you go with unrelenting negativity. it's on twitter it's in the articles and yes, it's here too. but if you can't be a fan of a team when they're bad, then i'm sorry but you're not a fan of the team (or certain players), you're a fan of winning. and NO team wins all the time every year. that's not how sports work.
we are lucky. at least, i feel lucky! don't you? gosh, sidney crosby scored his 600th career goal tonight. evgeni malkin is over 500 goals on his career. can you believe that? it's amazing to watch.
and it's going to be over in less than two years. do we really want to waste it by wishcasting something that's not going to happen instead of enjoying what we DO have?
if the media bums you out, don't listen. don't read the articles. don't go on twitter. dry your tears on the stanley cup banners that sid and geno hung up—there are three to choose from!

Story idea
Which is a mix between “Mermaid AU” and “Hades and Persephone AU”
Warning: dark!Sahnks
Shanks is a merman or a siren or whatever seas creature that is cool and I don’t know about. And Buggy is a simple human that comes across the sea creature when they were kids and kept is a secret ever since then. Shanks is so deeply in love with Buggy, dark level type of love, and he always gets upset when Buggy has to leave sometimes it ends with them fighting and Buggy not coming around for days which makes Shanks apologize profusely, promising he won’t do it again and begging Buggy not to leave again.
The love and obsession becomes worst as they got older. Buggy is a good swimmer so most times he would swim and dive which Shanks, and it was fun until Shanks’s possessiveness got the better of him making him almost drown Buggy because he didn’t want him to leave, enjoying this moment together.
Such thing would make Shanks panic he saves Buggy by drawing the attention of a passing human who manages to save Buggy, of course during all that Shanks was watching from afar all he could do is pray that Buggy will be ok. The passer did take Buggy to a hospital where he is saved.
After surviving his almost death because of his once best friend Buggy swears to never go back to the sea, if people asked he would say he is afraid of the sea when in fact he was terrified of what’s in it.
Shanks in the other hand had gone over the edge. Buggy didn’t return, did he die? Did that human kill him? Did Buggy leave? He didn’t mean that! He just wanted Buggy to stay with him forever, he is sorry her hurt blue, but his blue likes treasure, so he collects as much treasure as he can through out the years ready for the day when Buggy returns so he can give it all to him not only as an apology but also and a courting gift.
Years passed, and Buggy is invited to a friends party but he is not told that this party is near the shore. But because it has been decades since the “incident” Buggy gives it a try to indulge it, that maybe this was his step towards returning to the sea without being afraid that Shanks will kill him again. That he probably already had another victim and forgot about Buggy.
But he was so wrong…Shanks never forgot, how could he forget about his mate?
So when they cross paths again, Shanks plays it safe. He apologizes and tries to suppress the urges and instincts to just reach out and drag Buggy to him so he may never leave him again. It would take a while but with some patience and acting like Buggy’s disappearance didn’t affect him, Shanks gains Buggy’s trust.
It was small amount but it was good than nothing.
Is was way better because he convinced Buggy to eat a fruit he brought from the bottom of the sea, that it was very rare and difficult to come by. At first Buggy was very suspicious but then Shanks spoke about how he could sell it and gain a lot of his human money that he likes so much, but he should taste it first so that he knows it’s good enough.
And Buggy does just that…
All it took was one bite and Buggy’s body was burning and he couldn’t breathe. He could see Shanks but he couldn’t hear what he was saying or react much. Which made him terrified even further when with a wide happy grin Shanks started dragging Buggy into the sea, and if the blue haired man wasn’t so scared he would have realized how the sea water was cooling his body and his breathing, despite it being rapid, it was easier. Next thing Buggy know is everything going black as he lost consciousness.
When he woke up again Buggy felt different…. That something was very wrong. And then he sees it and he screams
Not only because he was in an unknown place, or that he was underwater, or that he didn’t have his clothes, but mainly because his body was no longer that of a human, it was like Shanks.
Hearing the scream Shanks will be there is seconds. He would take in Buggy’s angry punches and insults, it hurt to see the tears escape his eyes, but it was all necessary. To have Buggy here with him forever, to live together as they should have ages ago and no one will be able to take his blue away from him.

𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 [𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐄] — 𝐒𝐊𝐘𝐄 𝐑𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐘
one / two / masterlist / wattpad
summary: when someone asks you out, things get tense between you and Skye and you aren’t sure how to deal with it.
warning/s: the usual warnings that have come with this fic lol.
author's note: and here's the last part! this was a fun one to write, and it's always fun to write for naomi since there aren't many characters of hers i can write for!! (still salty terra nova was cancelled 😭). So yeah, hope you guys like it 🥰
Skye was recording some bits at a studio in the city and we were supposed to hang out after, but I didn't have much else to do and ended up arriving early. As she finished up, I hung around to let her finish, snooping around the building and chatting with some of the staff there.
As I was, I ended up getting caught in some conversation with one of the production assistants, Anna. It was always nice to get to know new people, but I didn't realise it was more than that until she started to flirt with me. Maybe she always was and I was too dumb to notice, but I was awkwardly flattered.
Still, she was interesting and we seemed to get on, getting lost in conversation for about ten minutes. Only when Skye finally finished in the studio and left to find me did the conversation end.
"There you are," she said with a smile when she saw me, before noticing Anna. "Oh, hello."
"You're Skye Riley," Anna noticed with an amazed smile, before glancing at me. "You know, I thought you were playing me when you said she was your friend."
I exhaled with amusement, shaking my head. "Not playing."
She gave me a surprised look before looking to Skye politely. "Sorry, how rude of me. I'm Anna. I work here. Big fan of your music."
"Nice to meet you, Anna," Skye greeted with an easygoing smile.
"You done?" I asked Skye, referring to her work.
"Done," she confirmed.
I nodded, before offering a friendly nod to Anna. "It was great meeting you, Anna. I should go. Skye and I have plans."
Anna nodded. "Of course, yeah, you mentioned..." She paused, hesitating as she glanced shyly at Skye before meeting my gaze. "Did you wanna, maybe, hang out some time?"
I raised an eyebrow, hoping my surprise wasn't too obvious. Skye swallowed awkwardly when she realised what was happening.
"Sorry, I'll give you guys a moment," she mumbled before leaving to wait down the hall.
I didn't know what to think as I looked back to Anna, seeing her waiting hopefully. "I– sure."
Anna breathed out, relieved, as she pulled out her phone. "Great. You wanna put your number in here and I'll text you so you have mine?"
I nodded, body working on autopilot as we exchanged numbers. It wasn't that she wasn't lovely – she really was – but I wasn't used to someone actually outright flirting with me like she had been. Plus, I was always awkward when it came to pretty girls.
"Got it," I said when my phone dinged with a text from her.
"Awesome," she said with a bright smile. "I'm expecting a message," she added jokingly.
"Sure," I said with a nervous smile.
She chuckled before straightening up. "Right, I'll let you go. See you soon, Y/N. Hopefully."
"See you," I said as I watched her leave, still surprised at how someone as pretty as her actually wanted a date with me. And so confidently too.
Shaking my head, I rejoined Skye who was lurking at the end of the hallway, watching the whole encounter as much as she tried to pretend she wasn't.
"Hey," she said when I stopped by her side. "Ready?"
I hummed as I fell onto step with her, the two of us going to the lift.
"So, who was that?" she asked whilst we waited inside. "You got a date?"
I shrugged, still replaying the encounter in my mind. "We just got to talking and I wasn't expecting her to be interested in me, but... yeah. She gave me her number."
Skye nodded, eyebrows raised slightly. "Cool... so are you interested?"
I glanced at her, unsure. "I don't know. I just wasn't expecting it. You know I get talking to people when I'm bored."
She smiled slightly. "Yeah, I do. It's so annoying how social you are sometimes."
I rolled my eyes playfully and continued, "I'm not sure if I'll text her."
She hummed, looking to the lift doors as they opened, and stepped out. Her lack of advice was disorienting me.
"Do you think I should?" I asked, falling back into step with her.
"What?" she asked, glancing over at me with an unreadable expression.
I quirked a brow, wondering if she was even listening. "Text her back?"
She nodded slowly. "Well, do you want to?"
I felt my cheeks grow warm as I looked away, smiling nervously. "I don't know."
"It can't hurt, can it? It might be nice."
I chewed on my lip, pondering her words. I wasn't even sure why I was overthinking it. It was just a date.
"Just take it easy though," she said nonchalantly as we walked out the building and down the street. "You don't wanna lead her on or anything."
"True," I agreed. "Might be worth a shot though. We did get on. The spark was there."
"Just don't get attached," she warned, glancing sideways at me. "You tend to do that."
It took a moment for her words to digest, and when they did, I grew offended. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"What? You do," she said lightheartedly, but it did nothing to put me at ease. Probably noticing my expression, she tried to amend her words. "Sorry, what I meant was– you go all in, y'know? I just don't want to see you get hurt."
I blinked, looking ahead. "Wow. Thanks."
"No, I didn't mean it as an insult," she said quickly, hand wrapping around my arm as if to get my attention. "I'm just looking out for you, Y/N."
I didn't know why her words stung, but they did. Was that seriously how she viewed me? As someone who got overly attached?
It made sense, in some way, especially after everything that happened with us. But it still hurt coming from her, probably because deep down I knew she was right. Except, the only person I'd ever gotten attached to was her. My mistake, I was well aware.
Suddenly, she stopped in front of me, facing me with a guilty frown on her lips. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. It wasn't nice of me to say."
I looked down. "Doesn't matter."
"It does," she said firmly, squeezing my arm. "Really. I'm so sorry."
A little embarrassed, the familiarity of the situation creeping in, I shook my head. "It's fine. Let's just go find somewhere to eat."
To my relief, she gave in and we both continued walking to find somewhere. Admittedly, the tension was still present on my side, my feelings stewing with each step. It was disheartening, knowing she thought of me like that, joke or not.
We ate in an awkward silence, and Skye made attempts at conversation but I couldn't force myself to entertain them.
"How's your burger?" she asked, nodding to my plate. "Food here's nice, isn't it?"
I hummed halfheartedly, picking at my fries.
She sighed softly, losing her smile. "Y/N, I didn't mean what I said before."
"It's fine," I told her once more.
Her eyes flickered between mine knowingly. "You're upset."
I merely shrugged, looking down to my plate, only making her sigh again.
"You should go out with her," she said, as if that was what I wanted to hear and would make up for what she'd said. It only made me feel worse.
I ignored her, instead responding, "Let's just talk about something else. How's your tour prep going?"
She frowned slightly, clearing her throat. "Erm, fine, I suppose... Not long left now. I'm just finalising outfits and..."
As she talked a little about it, my previous anger and hurt had long faded into disheartenment. It was frustrating to admit to myself, but Skye's reaction wasn't one I'd hoped for. I wanted her to tell me not to go out with Anna, that she didn't like the idea. And that's when I knew I was delusional.
And definitely not over my best friend.
After paying for our food, Skye and I left the restaurant, awkwardly lingering outside.
"I should go," I spoke before she could. "I've got some work to do."
She nodded, sensing my mood and not saying anything else. I hesitated, noticing the discomfort in her expression, before pulling her in for a hug. It wasnt her fault I was so conflicted – she couldn't have known anything about where my head was at and taking it out on her wasn't fair.
She returned my hug, relieved. "Talk later?"
I nodded as I pulled back, offering her a small smile, hopefully letting her know that I wasn't upset. At least, not at her.
She returned it, grateful, before squeezing my arm gently and letting me go. Meanwhile, I knew I needed to fix whatever was wrong with me before it got worse.
—
I did end up texting Anna back and we'd arranged a date a week later. Part of me thought it could be good to put myself back out there with someone lovely like Anna, but the other part of me also used it as a fast track to get over whatever feelings I had for Skye.
Despite our brief argument, Skye was supportive when I told her, being a typical best friend who wanted to know all the details when she could. I believed that if I played the part hard enough, it would feel real and I'd get over her. But no matter how much I tried, I just couldn't.
The date was great. Not a thing I could fault and yet I still returned home feeling deflated and hollow. Anna was the perfect date and we had a lovely time bowling, but all I could think about was Skye and how much I wanted it to be her. It was awful, from that perspective, and definitely made my scrambled head worse.
As I took a moment to collect myself on the couch as soon as I entered my apartment, my phone rang. Speaking of the devil...
"Hey, Skye," I answered tiredly.
"Is your date done? I wanna know everything!" she said excitedly.
I sighed, massaging my head. "Yes, but–"
"Awesome! I just finished some boring photo shoot and am on my way back, but I thought I may as well stop by yours, that cool?"
I scrunched my face up in disagreement, her face being the last I needed to see right now. "I'm actually kind of tired, Skye."
She laughed, sending shivers down my spine. "Oh, grow up, baby. See you soon!"
Before I could protest, she'd hung up, leaving me to drag out a long groan as I leaned back in irritation. So much for self-deprecating for the rest of the evening.
By the time I'd gotten into my pyjamas and freshened up, there was a knock at my door. Reluctantly, I went to answer it, seeing Skye on the other side.
Her smile faded when she noticed my expression. "Oh, no, how did it go?"
I turned around, flopping down on the couch, face-first. "Average."
The door closed and she approached the couch. "No wow factor?"
I shook my head as she took a seat beside my head, resting her hand in my hair and stroking it gently which did nothing to help with my racing heart.
"It's okay," she said softly. "At least you tried."
I exhaled into the couch cushion before sitting up, facing her as I leaned against the back.
"What wasn't great?" she asked sympathetically, leaning her elbow on the back cushion and watching me carefully.
I shook my head, unable to hold her gaze and instead focusing on the loose thread from the cushion. "It was fine. Anna was lovely. But I just... yeah."
She hummed in understanding. "Sorry."
All I could do was shrug.
After a moment, she lifted her arm out, extending it. "Come here."
I hesitated, unsure if this was the best next move. But I felt like crap and Skye was my best friend first and foremost. So, I crawled over to her and let her pull me in for a hug against her chest. She stroked my hair again, kissing the top of my head and making me sigh with comfort.
"You wanna talk about it?" she asked, voice mumbled as her lips were still pressed to the top of my head.
I shook my head gently.
"Alright." She continued to stroke my hair soothingly. "Wanna get your mind off it? We could watch a movie."
I swallowed thickly, not in the mood for anything right now.
"Or I can leave and give you some space," she continued, seeming to notice my mood.
As much as I hadn't wanted her here, I now didn't want her to leave. Shaking my head, I sat upright. "No, you can stay. We'll watch something."
She searched my eyes with a hint of concern. "You sure?"
I nodded, rubbing my face with my hands. "Yeah. I just need to pee. Pick a film, I'll be back."
She nodded and I got up to go to the bathroom, using it as a chance to splash some cold water on my face too. I sighed deeply, pushing away my conflicted thoughts for the time being and returning to the couch.
As I took a seat, I noticed some snacks on the table, but the weirdest assortment of them. There were cookies, some carrot sticks, hummus and a bowl of nuts.
"Er... what is this?" I asked Skye with confusion, glancing over at her as she returned from the kitchen with two glasses of juice.
"It's all I could find," she answered, before shooting me a disapproving look. "You really need to go shopping."
I cracked a small smile as she set the glasses on the table and took a seat beside me.
"Hey, there's that smile!" she exclaimed with a satisfactory gun.
I rolled my eyes lightheartedly, stifling my smile, and instead distracted myself with eating some carrot sticks. She grabbed a handful of nuts and got comfortable, pulling her legs up on the couch.
"Thanks," I said softly, gratefully.
"You don't need to thank me," she retorted, glancing at me, but I couldn't look at her without feeling strange.
I leaned back and got comfortable, and Skye started up a film on the TV. It was easy enough to settle in and the film was a well-needed distraction from everything. But naturally, I was falling asleep halfway through it. It didn't help that it was late, I was already pretty tired and Skye was extremely comfortable.
By the time the film ended, I was half out of it, in that weird in between state of awake but asleep. My eyes were closed and I was barely paying attention until Skye sighed from beside me.
"That wasn't that bad, y'know," she decided. "I thought it would be worse given the ratings."
I hummed quietly, acknowledging her words but not really listening.
"You didn't even watch it, did you?"
"I did," I mumbled as convincingly as I could.
She chuckled, her shoulders moving and waking me up in the process. "Liar."
A yawn escaped my lips as I forced myself to sit upright, off her shoulder. She was watching me with amusement.
"Comfy?" she teased.
Too sleepy to care, I answered, "I'd apologise, but it's kind of expected if you let me lay on you."
She laughed wholeheartedly, brightening up the whole night for a moment. "You're lucky I find you comfy too."
I sighed tiredly, sitting on my side and leaning on my elbow, propped up against the back of the couch.
"You feel any better?" she asked, and I looked up at her through my eyelashes.
"A bit," I mumbled. "Thanks."
"Stop thanking me," she said with a soft smile, making me scrunch my face slightly.
"Sorry."
She rolled her eyes playfully, stifling a laugh, and I yawned again as I watched her. It could have been my fatigue-induced state, or the fact that I was hopelessly in love with my best friend, but I couldn't stop admiring how beautiful she looked before me. No makeup, messy hair, sparkling brown eyes, cute smile.
It was wrong of me to stare, wrong of my eyes to trace the arch of her brows, the slope of her nose, the curve of her lips... I'd imagined kissing her many times before, but I'd never wanted to actually do it as much as I did now.
She smiled, oblivious to my daydreams, and mimicked my pose, leaning on her elbow on the back of the couch, way too close to my expression. "Whatcha thinking, huh?" she asked playfully.
My breath hitched as my eyes lowered to her lips, only inches from mine. Time stood still. All it would take is a second, but could I?
No, I couldn't. I couldn't ruin everything because of a silly desire.
Swallowing thickly, I moved back and looked away, acting as nonchalant as I could. "Just tired."
She fell quiet as she sat up straight, and I wondered if she knew what I'd wanted to do. Maybe I'd messed it up anyway. It certainly hadn't helped with my conflicted thoughts.
"I should go," she realised. "You should sleep."
I nodded, unsure what to say, and then I saw her making a move to clear up the snacks on the coffee table.
"it's fine, I'll sort it," I said awkwardly, standing up.
She glanced at me. "You sure?"
I couldn't meet her eyes, too hot with shame. "Yeah."
"Okay," she said softly, before going to the door to pull on her shoes.
I lingered awkwardly until she opened the door, glancing at me briefly.
"Goodnight," she said.
"Night," I muttered.
She left and I closed the door behind her, releasing a deep breath. How had I messed things up so easily? All I could hope was I hadn't made her uncomfortable, but it was impossible. Even staring had overstepped, and it was just like she'd said to me a year ago – it was written all over my face. How utterly embarrassing.
—
That evening haunted me long after, it replaying in my mind over and over like a bad dream. So much that I couldn't bring it in myself to face Skye, not whilst my thoughts were a jumbled mess.
Two weeks passed and I kept our contact to the bare minimum whilst I tried to figure my feelings out. I wasn't sure if I could be her friend anymore, as much as I wanted to be. But it wasn't fair on her if I still had feelings for her.
She messaged me, but I kept my responses vague. My only relief was that she was leaving for her tour in a week, so maybe it would be easier not seeing her as much. Maybe it would've been easier to stop being her friend if I distanced myself long enough.
But it was stupid to think that, not when we'd just reconciled and I thought she wouldn't notice my absence.
I was at my apartment one afternoon when I got an unexpected visit from her. As soon as I opened the door, I raised my brows with surprise.
"Skye? What are you doing here?"
Her eyes met mine sternly. "You're avoiding me."
"What?"
She pushed past me gently to let herself in, leaving me no choice but to close the door after her and spin around.
"At first, I thought you were still upset because of your date with Anna," she started, making me wince, "but then you kept being distance and I just– I don't know what I've done!"
I sighed, feeling stupid for thinking I could get away with it. "You haven't–"
"Don't bullshit me," she snapped, fixing me with a glare. "I'm not stupid."
Her hurt expression forced me to look away, the guilt sinking in.
She took a deep breath before asking in a gentler tone, "What is it? Talk to me."
I tensed my jaw uncomfortably. "Nothing."
"Stop lying," she ordered, before taking my chin and turning my face towards her. Worried eyes found mine. "What is it?"
I pulled back in a knee-jerk reaction, feeling a lump form in my throat. "Don't."
She frowned, confused. "What? Did I do something wrong?"
I sighed deeply, avoiding her gaze. "I can't do this... I'm sorry."
"Do what?"
I swallowed thickly, struggling to find the courage but knowing it needed to be done. "I can't be friends with you anymore."
She paused, taken aback, and her voice broke my heart when she finally spoke. "What? What are you talking about?"
I shook my head, looking down at the floor.
"What?" she repeated, growing impatient, and it only made the whole situation worse.
"I can't..."
"Look at me."
I forced myself to look up, the guilt pressing on my chest when I saw her wounded expression.
"What the hell are you saying?" she asked carefully, searching my gaze. "Is this because of what happened the night of your date? The last time I was here?"
I grimaced at her bluntness, making her tense her jaw. So she'd noticed then.
"It is," she realised.
"You were fucking right, okay?" I spoke abruptly. "A year ago, when we argued and you– you said what you did."
"I was fucking high all the time," she interrupted angrily. "I didn't mean any of it."
"But you did," I retorted, frowning, forcing myself to hold her stare otherwise this was all for nothing. "Deep down, a part of you did and, fuck, it hurt so much because you were right, okay? I– I was fucking in love with you. And I know it was foolish of me, but it was true."
Her eyes widened slightly, stunned, but I couldn't seem to stop now that I'd started.
"It was horrible and it ruined everything and that's why I can't be friends with you. Because I thought I was over it but I'm fucking not, okay? And– and the other night, I didn't mean to make things weird. But my head is a mess and I don't know what to do because all I wanted to do was fucking kiss you, and I know that's wrong, it is. And I'm sorry, but I can't keep being friends with you and put you in this position again. Especially not now."
I was shaking by the time I'd finished, heart racing too fast for me to keep track of. After almost a decade, I'd finally told her the truth. And it didn't feel any more liberating than it should have.
She swallowed hard, looking down with furrowed brows as if trying to digest my admission. I'd been so focused on getting it out of me that I hadn't even had time to anticipate how she could react.
"You were in love with me?" she finally spoke, looking to me with questioning eyes. "You're in love with me?"
I almost scoffed, eyes watering. "Like you didn't know? You said it yourself, Skye..."
She frowned regretfully. "What I said to you that day was awful. It wasn't fair of me. And yes, maybe I did know, but it– I wasn't uncomfortable... I..." She hesitated, before admitting, "I was in love with you too. I just– you deserved better than me. You still do."
I blinked back my tears as I studied her closely, with confusion. There was no way that was true. How could she have thought such a thing?
She stepped forward, slowly lifting her hand to touch my face, gauging my reaction. When I didn't push her away or step back, she cupped my cheek, thumb stroking my cheekbone, and my whole body felt like it was on fire.
"I wanted you to kiss me," she said softly, eyes flickering between mine. "Last time, I– I thought you were going to."
I blinked, taken aback. "What?"
She frowned, looking down momentarily as she said, "I didn't want you to go on that fucking date. But I wasn't going to be selfish and stop you. I just– I care about you a lot, Y/N. You mean the world to me. You always have."
Rendered speechless, I didn't know what to think or say. She'd reacted in a way that I'd never anticipated – never dreamed of – nor thought was possible.
Her dark eyes found mine once more, too close to be anything but a blur of golden flecks.
"I don't want to be friends either," she murmured, before pressing her lips to mine.
My eyes widened with surprise and then she tugged me closer and I instinctively relaxed into her, eyes fluttering close. Her lips were warm and tasted like berries, moving against mine in a perfect rhythm. My hands fell to her hips, goosebumps dancing all over my skin, and I couldn't seem to remember a single thing prior to this.
When we pulled apart for air, every part of my body felt aflame. My lips were tingling and she was still so close, too close for me to find words.
"Maybe things would've been different if I'd been honest in the first place," she spoke softly, breath tickling my lips, only reminding me of the feeling of hers against them.
I didn't know what to say, too stunned by the truth of her feelings.
"I missed you," she admitted, hand lowering from my cheek and to my chest. "It was only two weeks, but I thought I'd ruined everything."
"I'm sorry," I managed to get out, not intending to hurt her.
She shook her head. "Don't be," she assured me, before hugging me tightly.
I let out a quiet breath and wrapped my arms around her, sinking into her embrace. It was still a lot to accept – that she'd loved me too. That she did, even now.
"You haven't said much," she noticed, pulling back with a stifled concern.
"It's just a surprise," I shared, not wanting her to second guess anything. "I really thought... I thought you only ever saw me as a friend. Still trying to process it."
She smiled a little, understanding. "Yeah... I wanted to tell you sooner. Years ago. I almost did. Many times. But everything got bad and it just..." She sighed regretfully. "I didn't want to pull you down with me. That version of me wasn't good enough for you."
I frowned, looking between her eyes. "That's not true."
"It is," she said knowingly. "But it's okay. I want to be better than that girl."
"You are," I said sincerely, taking her hand in mine and squeezing it gently.
Her eyes twinkled as she smiled hopefully. "I hope so. For your sake."
I couldn't help but smile too, touched by how much she cared.
"My tour kicks off at the end of the week, but I'd really like to take you out on a proper date before then," she said, taking my other hand in hers.
"It can wait," I reassured her, "I know it's full on for the next few days–"
"No, no, just one," she cut me off eagerly, squeezing my hands. "Before I have to go and won't see you for ages."
I stifled the urge to laugh. "Okay, but if it's too much, Skye, I can wait until–"
Before I could finish, she leaned forward and kissed me, surprising me for the second time. I was too taken aback to react, and then she pulled away and I felt my cheeks heating up with embarrassment.
"That's got to be my new favourite way of shutting you up," she said with a satisfied grin.
I groaned quietly, flustered, and she laughed at my dismay. I suppose there could have been worse ways.

Your metas are keeping us all well fed, thank you very much. I have some chocolate tea for you? And homemade vegan cookies if you like.
What do you think about Crowley's "Can I watch?" he could have just said "can I accompany you?" or "do you mind if I tag along" or "I wanna see this"...
Allo, @procrastiel! Ya know, I've never had a chocolate-based tea! I would definitely be down for trying it. Thank you. 💕
In the scene you mentioned, Aziraphale is about to go around the neighborhood to tempt the Whickber Street shopkeepers into coming to The Meeting Ball. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30pm later that day, which is a Thursday. No one is going to want to go to the irritating work thing at this point in the week. Our introverted bookseller knows as well as anyone that half the street is planning on bailing on this thing. He can't have that happen. He has everything riding on this party. Both Crowley and Aziraphale know that Aziraphale is going to have to be persuasive to get these shopkeepers and traders to play ball and that some temptations are in store here.
Crowley is dryly asking if he can watch Aziraphale perform some temptations on the Whickber Street people because of how they use magic-related language euphemistically. He's joking that he would enjoy watching Aziraphale persuading the neighbors to come (heh) to the meeting because of how much he enjoys watching Aziraphale, err... perform temptations.
It's a joke on The Serpent always being down to, as he was eager to do in Lockdown, slither over and watch Aziraphale eat cake, ifyaknowwhatImean. He also, as we know, enjoys watching Aziraphale eat literal food.
The other layer to "can I watch?" is that the word watch means to stand guard and that is also what Crowley is doing while going around the neighborhood with Aziraphale in this scene. With angels and Shax sniffing around the shop, Crowley wants to be sure that no one bothers Aziraphale. R.P. Tyler should consider upgrading his idea of Neighborhood Watch, as he might be a lot happier approaching it the Crowley and Aziraphale way.
The original meaning of watch across several languages was actually in relation to the word wake and being awake. It referred to someone keeping watch, in the military and also on any manned ship, naval or otherwise. So, this is also a subtle sea/fish reference. Watch also originated from the unfortunately (as it is fun to say) obsolete Middle English phrase "wacches of wodnesse", which meant to stay awake throughout the night for "purposes of debauchery."
Crowley is seen in both seasons referring to this and spending time alone together at night a lot to keep their relationship a secret as their nightlife, as in this scene below when he's phrasing what he's saying in a coded way that is for Aziraphale's benefit. It's also part of of the wordplay in nightingales being descriptive of both their word-origin-happy hidden language and their romance as a whole. (Adding to the joke is that they were both, once, knights.)
But there is another word that connects to watch that Crowley and Aziraphale are playing around with in different scenes and that word is wait.
The word wait (and, so, waiting and waiter) comes from the Anglo-French waitier, which actually meant to watch. Phrases like to lie in wait come from this connotation of wait as being to watch with intensity and/or intent.
Crowley and Aziraphale play with watch/wait in a couple of different scenes. In Lockdown, they are also using watch in the sense of a timepiece/the alarm clock alongside the idea of Crowley waiting by bringing drinks and slithering over to watch Aziraphale eat cake. We'll look at Aziraphale using wait in the Marguerite's scene in a second. The joke for them is that the etymology of these linked words is also their own history together. It's this, basically:
In the Job minisode, Crowley waits on Aziraphale by "tempting" him with food on a tray and is pretty clearly getting off on watching Aziraphale eat. The first foray towards sex for them were the parasexual ox ribs in Job's cellar. Half the reason why we rarely see Crowley eat in the series even though various scenes and the book tell us that he does is because the food-is-food-but-food-is-also-sex metaphor means that they are using scenes between Crowley and Aziraphale involving food and drink to tell us about their relationship. The scene at The Ritz in 1.01 is the best example of this:
We learn so much more about them, individually and together, just by coming in on them on Aziraphale's last bite of dessert than we would have if it was structured differently and if Crowley happened to have been eating during this scene.
Aziraphale also plays with watch/wait in the scene at Marguerite's, winning at innuendo forever when he uses the above definitions but then also uses the meaning of wait that is related to allowing time to pass in anticipation of an eventual outcome when suggesting that Crowley wait in the bookshop.
You know, the place that is also euphemistically Aziraphale...
It's also present in the humor of Aziraphale throwing this whole Meeting Ball with Crowley in mind and so having the guy they've been terrified of for ages, whom they worried would be watching too closely and discover them (and who has really known forever) circling around with a tray of temptation tiny dinners, waiting on the entire neighborhood.
If you're theorizing and want to take it one step further into the story as a whole and not only on the level of Crowley and Aziraphale using this language between them?
2.05 is the start of the end of S2 because it is putting the bookshop attack into motion and that plot then carries over from 2.05 into 2.06 and leads to The Final 15. 2.05/2.06 is really like one, long episode. That culminating episode of the story begins with Aziraphale going around and successfully tempting the Whickber Street humans, with different levels of it needed, depending on the level of resistance with which he is met. Crowley goes with him, watching, right?
Now, jump to the much darker, nightmarish end to the season that all of that helps set up...
...where Crowley is quite literally forced to watch as Satan shows up to the business that is the bookshop to wait on and tempt Aziraphale... and then watches through the window as Aziraphale and Crowley temporarily implode.

Hi, pinkie!! This may be weird but happy birthday :D wishing you all the best things and wishes 🫶🏻
(Silly Hobie wishes you happy birthday as well)
(Look at him being silly)
Like The Movies
Hobie Brown x fem! reader (college au)
Hi my love! 🤍 Thank you so much for the well wishes. It isn't weird!! 😠 Who told you that?? As promised, "loser" Hobie to celebrate. (I love my silly little guy. I'm putting him in my pocket).
I just want to say, to everyone who asked what would happen if I didn't win ( @hyperfix-wip )- I guess we'll never know 🤷♀️
word count: 1,7k+
cw: dorks, the lot of them
~
The smell of butter soaked popcorn has been stuck to Hobie’s clothes for hours now. Along with a straining headache. Rubbing his temples he tries to focus on the ugly red carpet instead of the screen at the cash register.
Ten more minutes then he was home free. Excluding the quick stop he was going to make to the video game store across the mall. The missing piece for his game cube was finally in stock.
He was debating grabbing pizza from the food court too but with his roommate gone for the weekend what was the point? Hobie really wishes Ned well but he’s disappointed that he’ll be spending his time off without his best friend.
It’s times like these that he wishes he was closer to his family. Deciding and then being accepted to attend university here in New York is a mixed blessing.
He’s learning incredible things, meeting new people, and living on his own. On the other hand, he’s still new to the US and its customs.
It’s exhausting after a while and he can’t even be comforted by anything other than the things he brought with him from Camden.
A beep from his watch alerts him that his shift is over and Hobie doesn’t waste a second in clocking out and discarding the thing he calls a uniform. He’s still polite of course. Says his goodbyes and wishes everyone a happy holiday despite not celebrating Thanksgiving himself.
He must look tired because most shoppers steer clear of him. At the most he’ll receive two or three compliments on his outfit. Or maybe they’re just preoccupied with the sales and discounts going on in various stores.
He mutters an apology as he brushes past a group to step inside the brightly colored store with posters and ads for the newest game. Hobie has learned Christmas lights in November is normal. He cringes as he hears a popular pop song play through the speakers. It’s maybe the twentieth time today he’s listened to it.
“Hobie, hey! Give me a sec.” Ganke pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose. Gesturing to the box Hobie presumes holds his order. “I’ll ring you up as soon as I can.”
“Course, no rush.”
And Hobie means that sincerely. There’s more than four customers in line with a dozen more circling figures and t-shirts. He may be tired but he knows well enough how demanding customer service can be.
To add a little more reassurance to Ganke’s mind, Hobie points to a random section of games. “I wanted to take a look around anyway.”
Ganke nods with a grin that never seems to fall from his face.
Hobie would consider this store his second home. He is on a first name basis with Ganke and he was even invited out by the younger boy to a flea market. They both shared a love for retro and vintage. Hobie met a friend of his too, Miles. It was the most fun he’s had since his arrival in August.
A sigh leaves his lips as the section he had planned to browse is blocked by a group of teenagers and yes, he himself is a teenager but something about American air made people lose their common courtesy.
He spins, planning to give up and just wait by the counter when something smacks into his chest. Not hard but definitely strong enough that the person who walked into him is sent stumbling back.
An apology spills from his lips and he’s met with one himself. The air from his lungs leaves his chest as he comes face to face with a girl. He knows you.
He knows because he shares a music composition class with you. He remembers because he embarrassed himself in front of the class. Hobie’s only ever written baselines so orchestral music has been a struggle for him.
“Why are you sorry?” You laugh softly. Fixing the bag on your shoulder full of pins and charms. “I bumped into you.”
“Are you ok?” You ask and Hobie isn’t sure what to do next.
He’s mortified that the only interactions he’s had with you (which are far and few) are so embarrassing.
Hobie may or may not think you’re cute. It would be stupid of him not to notice you.
It’s not like he has a chance with such a pretty girl but he can at least not look like a fool in front of you every chance he gets.
“Uh yeah,” he falters, “I’m fine. Are you…ok?”
“Me?” You point to yourself in confusion.
“Yeah,” he repeats. “Did I nick you or something?”
“Oh.” You laugh again as you take in the patches and safety pins on his vest. “I think we’re good.”
When you stand on the tips of your toes Hobie understands what you mean and his ears grow hot with embarrassment.
Hobie is aware he’s tall enough to be a basketball player but compared to you he’s never realized quite how tall he is.
You smile and think about how cute his reaction is. Hobie isn’t shy, not by any means. You’ve seen him with his friends around campus. But you can understand how being out of your element can leave you walking on eggshells.
Classical music is the soul of your being. Movie scores to be more specific, not to mention game sources. You haven’t quite decided what route to take but for now you’re content with going back to the basics and writing Bach inspired pieces.
“Hey, I really liked your presentation. Did you get a good score?”
“I did, yeah.”
Hobie thinks you must be lying to avoid making him feel bad. The professor too because he earned almost full marks.
He doesn’t understand why when his piece was so…awful. Nothing like yours or Flash Thompson’s.
“That’s great! I liked the third movement. It reminded me of um…” You snapped your fingers. “Bowser’s theme. You know, from the first Mario game?”
Hobie doesn’t mean to, he really doesn’t, but he laughs.
“What? I’m serious!” You grin as you reach for your phone. Insistent to make your point and be proven right.
“You can’t be.” Hobie almost guffaws. “It was a dumpster fire!”
“Was not!” You argue. Bringing your phone up to his ear after furiously typing.
Hobie looks at you in surprise. Stuck between your outstretched hand and your determined face. After a supportive nod from you and a smile he slowly leans down to listen.
You pause on certain points of the video. Rambling on about concepts the two of you have learned but obviously you know better.
The video takes exactly three minutes and fifty three seconds but you managed to lengthen the amount of time it would normally take to finish and soon enough he realizes you’re not just cute. You’re cute and you like games.
You weren’t trying to make him feel better you were making honest and valid points.
Now he feels like an ass for laughing so he’s quick to wave his white flag in surrender.
“Alright, alright. You win love. Has anyone ever told you you’re a bold little thing?”
“I have been called that on occasion, yes.”
Hobie hums. His lips tugging into a smile. “Don’t ever change.”
Butterflies erupt in your stomach as you return his smile. “I won’t, promise.”
“What are you in here for if you don’t mind me asking? Aside from analyzing my music.”
“I don’t mind at all,” you answer. Feeling giddy. “There’s a poster I’ve been looking for and- tada.”
Hobie chuckles at the glee on your face as you hold up your prize.
“Is that right? Congratulations.”
“Thank you kind sir,” you giggle. “I was just heading over to pay when I bumped into you.”
“Guess it was a good thing I kept you occupied,” Hobie replies. “Line is gone now.”
You turn your head. Peeking over his shoulder to see the register is indeed free now.
“It appears so.” You tap his shoulder with the end of the rolled up poster. “Thank you again. You’ve done me a great honor sir.”
You relish in how much you’ve made Hobie laugh in the last few minutes you’ve talked. You’re disappointed this all has to end now.
Hobie snickers before bowing mockingly. “After you.”
You curtsey in return before walking over to Ganke. You’ve seen him a few times. Normally you come to the mall on weekends not weekdays but with the holidays coming up you had a few days off. Best to take advantage right?
Declining a bag you wait patiently for Ganke to finish the transaction but then he interrupts you from paying.
“Wait hold on, you have a birthday reward today.”
“Do I? Huh, I didn’t know the store had one.”
“Well, now your total comes down to less than ten dollars.”
“Sweet! Thank you.”
You step aside, thankful for Ganke’s chatty behavior because it give you an excuse to stay though Hobie’s own purchase. Both boys including you in their conversation about Hobie’s soon to be fully functioning game cube. Then you’re both walking out the door.
“So…” Hobie clicks his tongue. Anxious as the plastic bag he carries weighs down his hand. “Where are you off to now? Friends waiting at that nice restaurant?”
You shake your head, pointing to the direction of the movie theater. “Nope, there’s a screening for one of my favorite movies. It starts in about…ten minutes.”
Hobie’s eyebrows raise. “By yourself?”
“Mhm, was just killing some time.”
Hobie is at a loss for words. Spending your birthday alone sounds cruel. You deserve to have cake and gifts—the whole package. However it’s then that Hobie realizes he isn’t the only one who could be away from home.
“Mind if I come with you?” He blurts out.
Your eyes widen and in your stunned silence you feel the excitement build.
“Yes- I would love that!”
Gingerly clasping your hands together you happily tug him along. Explaining what movie you had bought a ticket for. Outwardly wondering if there were still seats available.
Hobie doesn’t feel dread walking back to the theater. He isn’t even upset when he smells popcorn again. With a soft smile he keeps his eyes on you. Only getting annoyed when his co-workers whistle behind his back and make exaggerated faces.

Day 23: Party
Momose x Shirosaki
[Miya & Mia’s Tickletober 2023] - Another niche tktober 2023 fic I'm fishing out of its grave muhahaha. I realize this is actually up there with my fav anime and pairings EVER. I'll go down with this ship!
Word Count: 1.1K
Momose felt moved. Never had he seen such a thing. The office was decorated, a tray of cupcakes was on his desk, music was playing, and everyone in the department welcomed him with applause.
“Happy birthday, Momose,” Shirosaki said, and he and a few colleagues fired confetti at him. They all started singing. Woah!
“Happy birthday!”
Momose blushed and awkwardly wiped the confetti from his head. He then bowed deeply, his hands gripping his pants.
“T-t-thank you very much!” he said, trying hard not to cry. At his previous job, no one had ever done something this considerate for him, let alone his boss.
The only thing was…. Today was actually not his birthday!
He could understand how his goofy boss mixed up the dates and accidentally swapped the day and month numbers.
“Today is your first birthday since you started working here. I wanted to celebrate in style,” Shirosaki explained fondly. Aah, so cute. Momose would rather take this day as his new official birthday than admit to his sweet boss that he got the date wrong.
“Thank you, manager… What about work, though?” Momose tried to say casually as he wiped away a tear from the happy emotion, and he looked around, amazed to see everyone in the office was having fun. People were relaxing, eating cupcakes, chatting, watching MyTube and laughing together. It really was a party, on a plain Monday morning at the Planning and Sales department of Minette.
“We will resume work after lunch. Right now, we will enjoy the surprise party,” Shirosaki said. Momose felt so guilty that everyone was making time for him when it wasn’t even his real birthday, but he couldn’t help but feel happy and honored too, and he thanked Shirosaki again.
“Thank you so much!”
Aoyama suddenly stood by their side and he proudly munched on a cupcake. “You became a fine boss, Shirosaki-kun, even remembering what to do on your employee’s first birthday at the office.”
Shirosaki thanked him with a humble nod. “Section Chief, thank you. You taught me well.”
"But… aren’t you forgetting something?” Aoyama added, looking very suspicious all of a sudden.
Momose cocked his head, but Shirosaki seemed to understand and nodded. “Ah, right.”
To Momose’s surprise, Shirosaki stepped towards him, and Momose’s initial reflex was to flinch - his former boss had been quite the intimidating figure and he wasn’t over it yet.
However, what happened next was anything but scary. More like… weird?!
“Huhuhuh? W-whahahat, mahahanager!” Momose felt embarrassed to suddenly be tickled on his sides, and he lunged forward and wrapped his arms around his middle, dancing awkwardly in response to the random tickles.
“Happy birthday tickles,” Shirosaki announced dryly.
“Whahat? Hehehehe thahat’s s-sohoho suddehehen!” Momose laughed, shaking his head and trying his best not to jump away too fast since Shirosaki seemed so eager to tickle him.
“A-aren’t Manager and Section Chief the only ones upholding this tradition?” a female colleague asked, but Aoyama hissed “Sshh don’t tell him!” while Shirosaki tickled Momose playfully.
Momose couldn’t believe he was getting dragged in a weird little birthday tickle tradition (?) between the two of them, and it surely was a little humiliating to laugh like this in front of everyone.. but Shirosaki looked like he was having so much fun.
And in return, Momose felt a kind of joy he hadn’t felt in a long while. All of his remaining past work trauma was about to disappear with the magic of Shirosaki’s gentle tickles.
“It tihihickles! Hehehe mahaha-manageheher!” Momose giggled, squirming and wiggling as Shirosaki continued to tickle his sides.
Shirosaki nodded. “Yes. It should tickle.” Hehe! So serious!
Other employees slowly distanced themselves from their awkward tickle party, leaving Momose with only Shirosaki, and Section Chief Aoyama who stuck around too.
“A little bit here too,” Aoyama said, suddenly joining in by poking Momose between the ribs. Momose twitched between them and yelped as they both tickled him.
“Hehehe nohoho!” he whined. Both men tickled him a little more, but not too much. Though embarrassed, Momose truly felt happy after genuinely laughing like that, and he caught his breath with a smile on his face.
“This is for you,” Shirosaki finally said, handing him a wrapped gift. “From me,” he added, blushing adorably.
Momose was glad he already had tears from laughter in his eyes, or he would start crying new tears all over again because of how cute his manager was.
“You even got me a gift!” he whined thankfully, and he opened it after Shirosaki’s encouragement.
“Ah - t-this is…” Momose admired the cute keychain with on one side a photo of Hakutou the cute kitty, and on the other side a photo of Momose and Shirosaki together - a photo that was taken of them when they were at the amusement park.
“You can put it on the house key I gave you. Or… on something else, of course,” Shirosaki said with a cute blush.
Momose’s eyed widened, and he could hear the nervous bursts of laughter from some colleagues behind them.
“A family picture?”
“Are they a married couple?”
“That’s right - didn’t he propose to him the other day? They are moving fast!”
“They even named the cat ‘Hakutou’ after themselves!” they gossiped.
Shirosaki blushed when he overheard them just like Momose, but Momose giggled and held the gift with both hands.
“Manager, thank you so much. I love it,” he said with teary eyes. Shirosaki smiled gently.
“I’m glad,” he said, and he walked away. He showed his cute and goofy side when it appeared he didn’t remember where he was walking off to, so he turned around again and returned to Momose’s side.
“Momose? I wanted to ask. If… Well, if you do not have any birthday plans today… You are free to visit Hakutou and me. I have some drinks too, a-and Hakutou will be pleased to meow you happy birthday,” Shirosaki offered shyly.
Momose blushed. So cute! Of course he did not have plans since it was not his birthday, and he nodded.
“I would love that!”
“Great. Also, I apologize,” Shirosaki said. Momose frowned.
“For what?”
“I realized I should have asked you first… if you wanted happy birthday tickles. My boss gave them to me on my first birthday at the office, and it took me by surprise. I ended up doing the same to you.”
Pfft!! Momose threw his head back and laughed. God, he loved it here.
“That’s alright, ahaha!” he laughed.
My abusive boss gave me mental stress and an ulcer, so I switched jobs. My new boss is the goofiest and cutest person I have ever met. He threw me a birthday party on the wrong date, gave me happy birthday tickles, and invited me to his home!

I think I'll keep you
Miguel has no interest in a relationship. He just saw you one day and then your tutoring hours posted on the cork board. He knew he had to have you for one night. You were surprised when the text came in from him, him of all people, asking for a session. But he quickly got you on your knees and then in his bed. This one night would turn into much more.
“Oh, god…” You pant and whine, your head leaning to the side to rest on his head.
“Fuck, you feel so fucking good…” He curses through a heavy breath against your neck. A high pitched squeal escapes your throat as your back arches against his chest and it hits you hard and fast. Your squeals turn into cries of his name, how good he feels.
He doesn't know what's come over him. He doesn't form attachments like this. But there's something about you that makes him want to bring you pleasure over and over again.
You’re babbling and thrashing in his arms and Miguel smiles, finally getting what he wants. Hearing your sweet innocent voice whining out the dirtiest things. You're a soft warm mess as he chases his own release.
He holds you tightly against him as you both stop moving and start panting to catch your breath. You’re glad he’s still holding you because if he let go, you’d surely face plant into the mattress. Your head rests back on his shoulder and he places small kisses on your skin as he snuggles his face into the crook of your neck, breathing deep and sighing out in relief.
“Will you be mine?” He asks softly and kisses your cheek. “Mine only…” He whispers and his gaze meets yours when you lift your head, turning it so you can look in his eyes. His finger strokes your cheek softly and it’s like he’s looking at the sun. He can try to close his eyes but the memory of you will always be seared into his mind.
“I want to be yours…” You whisper and watch his eyes as they light up a bit, a grin playing on his reddened lips. “Good. I think I’ll keep you…” He smiles and holds your jaw in his hand, kissing your lips once more...
I think I'll keep you 2
You've been gone only three days and he's losing his mind. Everything was so good before you decided to go home for the weekend. Miguel had you every night he wanted, every morning too. Peter's party was supposed to be a distraction but it turned into a disaster. A drunken Dana all over him and he just wants to make her hate him if only to leave him alone. He doesn't want her. He wants you back to campus.
Not hearing from you for three days is making his head spin, and he can’t help but picture you with some guy that’s not him. He throws Dana on the bed, pulling her by the ankles and grabbing her face. Could she handle him if she tried? The answer is no.
“You really like to get on my nerves, don’t you?” He seethes. But even Dana loves the attention.
Ding!
His red hot rage is interrupted by his phone going off. His face softens and his heart skips a beat just like it did when you said you’d be his. He can’t control that feeling. Miguel picks up his phone, seeing your name pop up and his eyes dart around the screen reading it.
{{user}}: “Came back early :)”
“Coming now” He texts right back.
He sighs audibly, a mix of relief and frustration at the same time. “What is it?” Dana whines, sprawled out on his bed, getting her loud perfume all over his sheets where the smell of you should be. “Get out.” He demands, stepping back and going to put on his jacket again to go. “What?! Are you serious?” She scoffs, sitting up on his bed.
"Yes! GET OUT!!" He shouts, making her flinch. She scurries off, out of his dorm fighting back tears. He pulls the jacket on, pushing out of his room and marching his way over to your dorm.
I think I'll keep you 3
Miguel pushes off the wall, going to the library door and seeing you’re finally alone. His heart thumps in his chest. Clenching his swollen bruised hand in his pocket. He sighs and forces himself to walk inside.
You suddenly look up. Stopping him in his tracks. And it’s like he feels like he’s doing something wrong. He told you, you were never supposed to happen for him. That what happened between you for an entire month was a mistake. To not let your messy feelings ruin everything. It’s been four days. Not a call, not a text. Nothing. And now he’s here. You look away first. Back down to your laptop to continue typing. And he continues walking, stopping at the edge of the table across from you.
“I need to talk to you.” He speaks, towering over the table. Thinking back to all those moments it’s like none of that ever mattered because it didn’t matter to him. How can you trust him again when he treated you like he wanted you and then told you, you were never supposed to happen. And you gave him your body, your heart everyday for a month already.
“I’m busy right now.” You say softly, keeping your eyes locked on your laptop screen. While this time away from him has been hell and you’ve been heartbroken over this, he’s also been a total dick.
He’s been trying all week to find you. To talk to you. Trying to find sneaky ways so that he doesn't have to beg for your attention. He wants things back the way they were. He wants you back in his bed. He doesn’t know what he feels.
He walks around the table. You don’t look up, not even sparing him a glance. Glaring at your laptop screen and seeing his movement in your peripherals. He silently walks to the seat right next to you. Slipping down into it to sit beside you. His hands shoved back into his pockets.
"{{user}}… hey...” He says gently, trying to get your attention. Turning in his chair slightly to face you more. He can see your anger, he can feel it too.
“I’m not talking to you.” You say without looking at him.
“Well I’m talking to you…”
I think I'll keep you 4
“...his hand, he’s been having swelling and bruising for a few days now…” You explain kindly to the receptionist once you’re both in the waiting room, standing at the front desk. Miguel standing a bit like a lost puppy behind you, listening to you talk to the receptionist there.
“Alright, the doctor can take a look once she’s done with another patient. If you can just fill out these forms and have a seat, it should be about 30 minutes.” She smiles and hands you a clipboard and a pen.
“Thank you. And could he please get some ice or something?” You smile and ask. The woman nods politely and going to grab an ice pack from the other room. You both start walking over to the waiting room area, looking over the form in your hands. Taking a seat by the fish tank and settling in to wait a little while. Miguel sits right beside you, running the good hand through his dampened hair from the rain. He glances down at the form in your lap. Then up at the side of your face. Wanting to reach out and touch your skin. Kiss your cheek. Remembering what it feels like to melt into your arms. Thinking of all the ways he can beg for, earn your forgiveness. Just as he’s about to speak-
“Here you go…” The receptionist is there, an ice pack outstretched for him to take, breaking him out of his thoughts. He forces a smile, taking the ice pack and setting it over his hand. “Thank you.” He smiles gently. Watching the woman walk away.
He feels like shit. Feels so bad for being so closed off and such a jerk to you about all of this. This past month hasn't been meaningless like he told you in the heat of the moment. It's meant something he just doesn't know how to say it. It's hard for him to put his feelings into words. For you it seems so easy, why can't he just be like you?
He looks back, watching you write down his name on the form. Thinking he can probably do this himself. Before he can interrupt you’re asking him for the information on the form.
I think I'll keep you 5
When the athletic door swings from someone else leaving, he catches a glimpse of you through the opening. The bright lights from outside assault his eyes as the door swings again. Seeing you for just a moment. Just a split second. Talking with Peter against the fence. He stops. What is he walking into? What’s about to change? You’re gonna be there right when he goes through that door. He stands in the dim concrete tunnel, feeling his heart race. He doesn’t like this feeling. This is the loss of control.
“Miguel!” Peter smiles, making you turn to look back. And there he is, walking out the door. You want to just run into his arms and tell him how great he was. Even though he didn't get to play he still coached very well and played his part in the victory. But Peter is talkative and gets in there before you can. And you don't really want to interrupt when he's talking with his friends. Since this is the first time you've been around his friends with him.
“We’re gonna get drinks, you have to come” Peter says, ushering Miguel over to where you’re standing. “This is {{user}}… {{user}} this is Miguel”
“Yeah we know each other.” Miguel says immediately. Not a hint of a smile on his face. He’s annoyed with Peter. Annoyed that it’s not a known thing. He wants it to be known that you two are an item. Or… that there’s something going on… he’s not even sure of at the moment. At least that Peter should know to back off. “Oh cool, so drinks?” Peter asks you.
Miguel’s a little astonished with how easily Peter just brushed that off. Eyes flicking between you two and hoping to god you don’t accept the drink invite. But he bites his tongue. Friends. Really good… friends.

Got a request/suggestion for you if you like. As headcannons or whatever strikes your fancy.
The team has a new recruit! They are one of the most genuine, patient, friendly, sweetest people one could ever meet. They make everyone breakfast in the mornings, they listen to people's problems, they volunteer at a puppy orphanage, talk down muggers in the street, essentially a bottle of sunshine as a person.
On the battlefield however, they are most certainly one of the scariest people alive. They are incredibly strong and durable, no need for weapons when they can tear people apart with their bears hands and teeth. They are brutal, carnage incarnate, and have absolutely no fear whatsoever.
Now, their sweetness is genuine, they are not faking anything. Outside of battle they are one of the most pleasant, stable people on the team. If ever asked, the best reply they can ever give is "This is a war with no true death. (Thanks to the respawn machine) When you can play a game with no consequences, why not have a little fun? ~"
What do the mercs think about their new teammate? How did they react to seeing their first time on the battlefield? How scary is the game with a player who doesn't care?
Sorry about the length, I got all excited. Romantic or platonic is good, and pick whichever mercs you like to focus on.
→Sweetheart Reader who has a Bloodlust!
Genre: Silliness, general
Characters: Scout, Medic, Pyro, Sniper
Content warning: canon typical violence
Thanks so much for this request! This is such a fun idea! I decided to just pick a few of my favs, also relationship is left fairly ambiguous hope that’s all good! Enjoyyyy ٩( ᐛ )و
Scout
Scout enjoys your sweet side, Scout tends to lean towards supportive types since he doesn’t see much of that from the other mercs.
The two of you get along quickly.
We know he secretly loves being babied so he likes that you make breakfast and do all the cleaning.
He’ll probably make fun of you, calling you the teams maid. You let it slide though, maybe playfully teasing him back.
But ultimately he enjoys having someone around who isn’t totally nihilistic and hasn’t already half given up on being happy, it’s a nice change of pace for him.
All that being said, he doesn’t think you’re going to last a second on the battlefield.
Sure, being all starry eyed and happy go lucky is all good and fine around the base, but that’s the type of stuff that breaks you on the battlefield, respawns or not.
Genuinely tries to talk you out of it the first time you’re set to go out.
“Are you sure you really thought this through? Nobody’d be mad if ya skipped out on us, maybe Pauling has another type-a job for you.”
“Scout, it’s sweet you care so much, but I assure you I have it under control.”
He’s unconvinced so he goes into it feeling the need to protect you.
After he is literally doused in BLU teams blood, it’s pretty glaringly obvious you don’t need him.
Is in genuine awe, hardly fights the whole match, just watches you in… terror? Amazement? Surprise? He’s not exactly sure what he’s feeling, but there is a lot of it.
He’s definitely more wary from that point forward of making any sort of jokes about you.
Medic
Medic is wholly distrusting of your whole “good guy” act.
It might seem nice, and maybe you are but nobody gets into your position by being all smiles all the time he knows that.
Once he does a bit of inspecting on your character and a whole lot of judging, finding out that you are seriously just that golden hearted is a serious surprise to him.
You may point out to him that’s it’s pretty unfair of him of all people to be suspicious, the guy who smiles while doing open heart surgery, which he concedes.
He’s much more receptive to your niceness from then on.
Doesn’t fear so much for your safety on the battlefield, your kindness was not a good enough scale for how you would perform in battle, at least in Medics eyes.
Feels much more drawn to you after seeing your insane side.
Once seeing you on the battlefield he feels he finally has the full picture of who you are, and enjoys your company much more.
Your attitudes of being fairly frivolous on the battlefield have earned the two of you a rather unnerving reputation, but neither of you care, content to be menaces on the ground.
Sniper
Likewise, Sniper is a little suspicious about your behavior.
A puppy shelter? The sweet conversations? Helping at soup kitchens? It’s all a little on the nose for his tastes.
The kicker for him was when you somehow turned a violent drunk man on the street into a weeping mess, talking him through his childhood trauma. You really were just that tooth rottingly sweet.
Gets used to it, keeps his distance, but gets used to it.
After seeing you in battle he is even more put off. Of course, he respects your play, just the same way that he has some base level of respect for his teammates but it never goes beyond that.
He has strict codes he sticks to on the battlefield, and seeing you so lax about respect just sort of rubs him the wrong way.
You two probably don’t end up seeing eye to eye all too often, and may butt heads fairly often because of this.
But at the end of the day, you’re both teammates, and everyone else on the team loves you so much that it makes Mick feel like an asshole for having any negative feelings towards you.
Pyro
Wow! You guys get along so great!
Pyro is the exact same way, relatively beloved due to kindness off the battlefield but feared during the fight.
Pyro adores how kind and compassionate you are, wants to do all your helping stuff with you. Even if they don’t really know how to properly help anyone without starting a fire.
They will “help” with cooking and cleaning, just enjoying trying to be helpful.
You show up in a lot of their pyro land drawings, and they do enjoy spending a lot of time with you, and you them!
Pyro also loves helping out with you on the battlefield! Spreading peace and love is that much easier when you’re by their side.
Or at least… that’s Pyros version of events.
Sorry for the wait, having the worst burnout, but I am pressing on for u guys ( ̄^ ̄)ゞ hope you enjoyed!

Let's talk about Sanders Sides and why it should end.
Disclaimer: this is my opinion, I don't have any malicious intentions by voicing it, please don't harass me or people working on the show as the result of reading this rant. You can just stop reading if you don't like what I am saying.
Thank you for understanding.
I myself only joined the fandom 3 years ago. Along the years there has been a lot of content and I was captivated immediately. The characters are the main thing of this fandom and I would like to talk about them first.
They started to not be themselves. Maybe it's now that obvious when you watch one new episode every year, but for someone who just showed up and binged it it's quite noticeable.
There is a thing that happens to every character in every long term content (I'm sorry I can't remember how it's called). With time they become parodies of themselves. And as the time goes on they become more and more simple. That can change the character drastically. Someone who was street smart becomes a character that you can't believe is still alive with how stupid they are.
The same thing is starting to happen is Sanders Sides. It's basically a running gag that Logan lost all his whimsy and is gonna snap at any time. This is the example of simplification, what is left of him is only his core elements. Logic, no feeling, smarty pants, facts, jam. However it ties into the story quite well. No one listens to logic. It makes us invested in how this unnoticed before conflict would be resolved.
With Patton it's not the same. He used to be innocent. An adult who doesn't want to grow up. He was relatable. Maybe it's because Thomas is older now, but the innocence in Patton's character started to come of as ignorance. He used to come of as deeper than at first glance, smarter than you give him credit for. Now he just acts stupid. A guy who can set water on fire. A guy who doesn't even try to confront reality. He was supposed to get character development. Where is it?
Virgil started to be more cringe and boring. He's emo and his character trait is to act like an angsty teen. However now it's more of an adult pretending to be a teen. You can most see it in the Jam video where he tries to do skateboard tricks and we can see his boxers sticking out. Why would you do this? He used to be sassy, he used to be arrogant villain who can't get rid of. He got excepted, and despite the Halloween episode about the phases, and him saying " It's still my job to scare you" we don't ever see him do it. He hangs around I guess, but he lost all his bark and bite. All that's left of him is just moody.
Roman likely didn't change that much. His original chaotic nature masks any changes so far. Although I would say Roman lost quite a bit of his drama and sass. Being sick because the ego was bruised, starting a rap battle just to prove a point and show off, singing and " Making the song 10 times better" in his opinion, freaking out because a person he ships Thomas with has called him back. In flirting with social anxiety he does freak out because of the cute guy, which is very Roman, but it's a bit strange that the embodiment of pure creativity would not find words to finish a poem. ( I have my questions with him in the nostalgia episode like playing the instrument poorly even if he showed he can draw a Mona Lisa with crayons, or not allowing Thomas to demonstrate the dance, but I'm just gonna put that under " Possibly Janus pretending to be Roman")
And Remus and Janus wasn't here long enough to start to fall apart. Although I don't think Remus would actually be able to fall apart as a character because of his chaotic nature.
The second thing I want to discuss are sponsorships.
I am happy that Thomas gets the money and has the opportunity to get more. But did he had to put characters into the sponsorship?
The jam one was fun. It was a joke what turned true. A running gag. But it also gave the community something to interact with. Four new jam flavours, characters on the package, limited sets. You could try something your favorite character likes!
There were good sponsorships on Thomas's chanel before. Like Hello Fresh. He did the advertising as himself, not as characters. It wasn't so in your face. And that's how it should be. He wasn't begging for you to buy it. He was simply sharing a good thing he uses. It wasn't loud and obnoxious. Even if it wasn't as entertaining as the jam musical or character jam merch, you still felt like you could buy it. The food looked good!
It's not the same with VPN, now is it? I would not get any character interactions if I buy this thing. So why are the characters involved? Because I like them and it would be easier to sell me something if They tell me to buy it? Why are you so pushy for me to buy it?
We all are waiting for the season finale. Something grand. Something epic. Something to finish the story. But I don't think Thomas should start another season. He would probably be tempted to, because of the new character involved, but that might not be a good decision. I'm not saying he should stop with the Sides altogether. But I feel like short video format would suit the characters better from now on. No big plots, no storylines, just characters interacting with each other in different situations.
Finish it. Put a stop to the story. All good things need to end. Don't drag it out or you will ruin what we love so much about those characters. It would turn into 8 seasons of Winx instead of the planned 3.
Give them their happily ever after.
I hope I'm not coming of as rude, because I don't meat it in a rude way. I just have things that are bothering me that I want to talk about with someone and see if other people think the same

Jamie knew he'd chosen a time when the majority of people wouldn't be here, but it also gave him plenty of space to practice, just be, and avoid being in anyone else's way. "What better time to practice then when it's peaceful and I won't be in anyone's way, Sir?" Jamie asked, mentally going through his brain to recall if Sebastian had mentioned being a dancer. It sounded vaguely familiar, but may have only come across in question or perhaps he'd heard it from Oliver or someone. "I'd love to see you dance if you're ever inclined to show me, Sir." He enjoyed seeing other people perform something they enjoyed. It was almost as much fun as doing it himself.
He gave a small nod of his head when Sebastian spoke about warning him of the cold. "You did, Sir and rest assured I believed you then and I've learned from last year." He told him. He smiled as Sebastian spoke, complimenting his abilities. Jamie was easily flustered with a lot of things, but his gymnastics was the one thing he was truly confident in his abilities, but it always made him feel better to know others saw it too. "Thank you, Sir, and rest assured I've never once lied about my flexibility." He told him, not pulling away as Sebastian reached him and pressed a kiss to both of his cheeks.
The submissive met the other's gaze easily, listening as he spoke about how he'd spent the day. "Sounds like you've had a busy day, Sir." Jamie observed. "I got lunch with Noah one day and we had the chance to catch up a bit since he's been playing a hermit again." Jamie said. "I've also spent some time with your brother, but other than that. I've just been focusing on classes and watching as everyone prepares for the holiday season. I'm enjoying the fact I'm not feeling homesick like I did last year." He knew last year had been the first year he'd spent the big holidays without his parents, so feeling homesick was understandable. He had friends to spend time with now, so it made it a little easier this time around.
Neither of the times they had spent together had been at a gym, and while the Dom was already aware of Jamie's gymnastics skills, it was nice to finally see said skills in person. "Right back at you. No one is suppose to be here at this hour on a Saturday, but I suppose some take the chance of solitude to practice more freely. I sometimes do that at the dance room." He chuckled and shook his head. "I warned you, didn't I? About cold being a serious matter here. But this is a good way to shake it off. I have never seen you practice- You are really good. Very flexible. That's always a plus."
The moment he was within reach of Jamie, Sebastian leaned in and kissed him once on each cheek. "As well as to be expected" he said with a fond tone, looking right into his big blue baby eyes. "I had some errands to run in town. At my house, more precisely, and I just got back. What about you? Have you done something interesting lately?"
