You’re right, @purplehairsecretlair; it would make so much more sense if the priest featured in the video was not Jerome! I was ready to accept this headcanon, but then I found the official description of the trailer:
This is about Joseph Seed's journey before he became the Father, before Pastor Jerome was forced to forfeit his status as shepherd of the County's souls.
So The Baptism is about Joseph “stealing” Jerome’s congregation… That said, I totally agree that this isn’t consistent with the game for several reasons (which you probably already know, but I want to use this opportunity to talk more about the trailer).
First, Joseph found John and Jacob before he started the Project, and they all arrived in Hope County together. In the trailer, however, as you pointed out, he’s alone. We see him creating Eden’s Gate, writing his own holy book, and recruiting his first followers. Also, this shot...
...looks like what the 2nd step of the Pilgrimage tells us in the game:
II. The Cleansing: Joseph Seed affirms his obedience to the Voice by cleansing himself with his own two hands, becoming born again.
Steps III and IV are about him getting his first followers and the Voice telling him about the Collapse, and he only “collects his blood family” at step V, which... I realize is not consistent with The Book of Joseph, unless that means he had already found his brothers and only “[anointed] them as his Heralds” at this point.
Regardless, the story told along the Pilgrimage path isn’t consistent with The Baptism either because he only brings his disciples to Hope County at step VII, but he’s clearly already there in the video. Plus, his Heralds don’t seem to be with him…
I tried looking for more information about the trailer, especially about the cast and characters but, aside from Greg Bryk, I couldn’t find the names of the other actors.
However, I found this. The website says the video has won 25 (in my opinion, well-deserved) awards and provides a synopsis, probably written by DDB Paris, the agency that created the two live-action trailers, The Baptism and The Sermon, for Ubisoft. It says that the little girl is “the daughter of the legitimate priest whose place [Joseph] took, ten years ago”. Far Cry 5 never implies Jerome ever had a child, so I don’t think that’s still canon, but I’m glad we finally know who she is!
I stumbled upon this other article (with a behind-the-scenes picture). It’s in French, so here’s a summary:
It was Ubisoft who “imposed” Greg Byrk on the agency, but the artistic director thought he was “perfect” even though they barely knew him. The copywriter comments he was “very immersed in his role” and “exuded something powerful”.
The video was shot in Canada, in Merritt BC. To help the team, Ubisoft sent them the “huge mood board” they made during their one-year trip to Montana.
Some shots were unscripted, such as the scene with the little girl on the swing.
About 150 people were involved in the project which also required dozens of supply trucks.
Finally, it says the trailer was released 14 months after the first briefing. Jerome and Joseph’s backstories had plenty of time to be rewritten...
I also remember reading this interview with the director on the now-offline UbiBlog years ago. So, in case anyone was wondering (I was), that string of saliva was, in fact, totally unplanned :’)
#(anyway yeah you’re right it would have worked better with the rest of the story if the priest was someone else)#far cry 5#joseph seed#jerome jeffries#and his unnamed scrapped daughter#I see the sermon has won 10 awards#but the credits suggest there used to be VFX and a nuke in it??#I want to see that!#gifs I made#‘'blood sweat and tears'? how about 'snot spit and tears' instead?’ - greg bryk I guess

what was the original wip or ideas for Maiden and the Drowning Boy
HELLO THERE! I LOVE TALKING ABOUT THIS!
I should probably have a canned answer for this I can copy/paste because I've been asked a couple times, but it always tickles me when asked anyway.
So Abby was an idea I came up with around episode one. I had read Fire and Blood but hadn't thought about ever making an OC for it until the show aired. So when it comes to OC creation, George leaves us with a lot of unnamed (and occasionally named) characters that are literally just blank slates. so Lyonel Strong bringing his two maiden daughters who became ladies in waiting to Rhaenyra was where I started. Because they have no names, they have a familial connection I love. So Abby was born, an interesting link between the teams. I didn't really have a story for her outside of exploring a proto-sansa stark who would later be murdered by Aemond Targaryen when he throws an epic tantrum at Harrenhal.
Then I decided to take her and give her a run in the tumblr RP space, see if this character had legs because it had been a decade since I'd written fic. That's where I ran into a friend of mine who was writing Aegon (this was when we were still in baby!Aegon land) and they suggested giving Aegon and Abby a whirl. Age her down, have her be friends with the Targtowers. And then it all just really sparked from there.
I was driving to my parents house, and mind you at this time I was very in my Helaemond phase, and I was like 'how could I write a story where Helaemond get married?' and that was marrying Aegon to Abby. And then it spiraled from there of how things would be different. Because Abby was very good for Aegon. She gave him encouragement and affection without diving into incest land (which, despite my Helaemond love, the Targ incest is really harmful and I wanted to try create a better world here). And anyone who knows me knows how big of a canon divergence junkie I am. And my brain just went haywire. I wanted to give Aegon a brighter path, the war might not even happen, what were the themes I wanted to explore by getting the pair of them out of the Red Keep, etc etc.
Originally, I was going to start the story from the beginning: It was Alicent's POV and we got introduced to them by baby Helaena and Abby biting Aegon. But I really struggled with little!Abby so I moved that to the side and jumped to how we see the story now: Alicent announcing the betrothal. I was really nervous about this because I'm introducing a world changing OC into the situation in media res, but so far, it seems readers were able to pick up immedietly. Honestly? The only big change I made to the story from the start to now was scrapping the Helaemond plot after struggling writing Chapter 3 and exploring Helaena's POV in 4 and realizing that Helaena didn't want it and it wasn't a path I wanted to take the characters on.
Hope that explained what you were interested in! and I'm always happy to answer more questions!!

*cracks knuckles* so you have wished it, so shall it be!
Maddie is a daughter of Ra's Al Ghul, Jack is from a long line of Hunters, together they kill whatever they hunt
Dan is the firstborn, raised to be the perfect ghost hunting weapon obsessed with killing everything he hunts, like Hela from the MCU
Flynn is the second born, he's never gonna measure up to Dan so he never tried
Jazz is the third, she's the perfect child
Danny is the fourth and he's born to replace Dan
The next six children aren't named, they're disposable and unneeded, but the fifth unnamed chooses to call herself Dani
Dan is put down like a rabid dog when he grew too inconvenient to control, he returns as a ghost but is trapped in an already apocalyptic timeline until he's eventually freed from it
Flynn is too soft so into the portal he goes, he can either die or grow stronger, either way he's not Maddie and Jack's problem anymore
Jazz is perfect, she has to be, she knows the consequences of failing and she wants to keep living
Danny takes Dan's name and feels like a replacement, he hates what he's been raised to become, he hates himself and the ghostly child soldier his parents turned him into
The other children were born without fanfare and died without fanfare either, Dani earned her name when she tried to prove she wasn't weak by trying to kill Danny, she didn't succeed but Maddie was proud enough that she tried
- Chaos Gremlin 💖
I won't lie, I like this au A LOT.
But I don't know if I have any ideas for it..
So I'll just throw a bit of scraps together for now.
So, what if they move to Gotham, not by any of the children's wishes no. But because Maddie and Jack want to try their hands and hunting down the Batclan.
Their goal is obviously the notorious Batman.
Their arrival was pretty discreet, but a few days later they get picked up on by Batman and the rest, because of them popping out and trying to kill any member they come across.
Danny and Dani were sent after Robin and Red Robin.
Jazz is sent after Red Hood and Nightwing.
Danny and Dani don't really like each other, you know from Dani's attempt to murder Danny and all, but they work well enough together that they can fight other people.
So they split up, with Danny after Robin and Dani after Red Robin. They just had to wait for night and go find them.
Jazz was both hard and easy, she knew how to possibly draw Red Hood out, and Nightwing she just has to scour the rooftops for, so during the day she went around, beating up various gangs to draw the Crimelord's attention.
At night she went across the city looking for Nightwing.
All hell broke loose when they found their targets.
Danny and Dani wasted no time in trying to kill their targets, they had powers while the others didn't, it should be easy to kill them.
It wasn't.
They had some trouble fighting, more than they would have liked to admit, the gadgets and them knowing the layout of the city was annoying. They escaped just when the two of them thought they finally got them.
Jazz had a harder time with her targets.
It was a far more even playing field, it wasn't uncommon for her to have bullets wounds whenever she had to head back or multiple bruises, depending on who she encountered. But at least she had the knowledge that she at the very least gave them multiple broken bones and the occasional concussion.
Jack and Maddie weren't at all pleased with the repeated failed attempts. So, they both entered the field themselves, looking for the big bat himself.
The Batclan made themselves an easy target, all of them in one location. Batman out in the open and the others in hiding.
Jack and Maddie both took the opportunity for what it was and pounced, with Jazz staying on standby while the Danny and Dani both went to look for their targets.
Shit went, pretty wrong.
For Jack and Maddie anyway.
With five members of the Batclan against just their three, they put up a good fight, but Jazz was still injured from her previous fight against Red Hood.
So they were pretty overwhelmed, especially when they didn't expect more than what they thought would be there.
They thought at the most it would be maybe 3, not five.
So Jack and Maddie got beat up, so did Jazz.
So yadda yadda Danny and Dani find out, lose their shit because that's their sister who got taken and wanted to get her back.
They did get her back, but not in the way they expected.
If being able to now live a normal (Or at least normal in Gotham) life with their big sister in Gotham was any example.

writing! scene from enna's prequel
As promised (sort of), writing!
This is from Enna's unnamed prequel (it used to be named angel's daughters but that has been scrapped because it really really does not fit), its almost the entire scene except for the end of it because that part doesn't really make sense yet. It's about 1.7 thousand words, which is long but I like this scene so fucking much so you get all of it! (it is under the cut because. Long).
tw/cw for death mention, murder mention, swearing
--------------------
It took her an embarrassingly long time to find the shop the person, Bezeo, had mentioned. She poked her head down what felt like half the streets in the city until she found it. Tucked between an empty storefront and a florist, with a bright, though cracked and peeling, green paint job and a single large display window filled with potions that sparkled in the sunlight, was a shop. Its sign, creaking in the wind, had a similarly green background with a large cauldron in the middle of it, a crack splitting it down the middle. In slightly peeling gold letters, it proclaimed to all who cared look that this was the Broken Cauldron, founded 682.
If that outside suggested that whoever owned the place took no great care for the building or its wares, then the inside suggested the complete opposite. On racks there were displayed dozens of potions in varying shapes, colors, and sizes. A bell hung above the door rang as Enna opened it, and golden sun poured through the well cleaned window.
As she entered, a voice called from the back, “I’ll be right with you!”
“Take your time!” shouted back Enna, and she began to look at the walls. An intricate, Gnomish made cuckoo clock hung on the wall above the counter. It was beautiful, and shone like it had been recently polished. The top of it, though, the roof of the little house, was more dusty, like it couldn’t be reached. As Enna looked around, she noticed all the shelves were like that. The very tops of them were significantly more dusty than the bottoms or middles.
“What can I—” the voice died off in the middle of the sentence as a short gnomish woman emerged from the backroom, dusting her hands on her apron and skirt.
She scanned Enna over once, twice, three times, lingering on her face, and on the scar there. “Annie thought you were dead,” she said, quietly.
“She said as much. Who’re you?”
“Effie, owner, operator, and sole employee. Do you know where she is?”
“I thought she was still in the city until ten seconds ago. There’s plenty of places to hide in this town.”
Effie muttered something under her breath that Enna couldn’t make out, then abruptly changed the subject. “Does Bezeo know you aren’t Anne? I assume he’s the one who sent you here.”
“He did. I don’t think so, I’m not even sure he knows that ‘Enna’ exists.”
As Effie walked over and flipped the sign on the door to closed—though she left it unlocked—she said, “He does. Bezeo and Anne were—are—good friends.”
“They’re not married, are they? I would’ve hated to miss the wedding.”
Effie laughed. “No, they’re not married. You,” Effie took a deep breathe, and for a moment Enna thought she was going to cry. “You didn’t miss any weddings. Well, you didn’t miss any you might care about. Bezeo’s married to some lady in the guard, which is endlessly funny to me, given that his two closest friends are a thief and her— are thieves.”
Enna nodded. “That’s good, I guess.”
“Yeah. Do you know anything at all of what’s been going on?”
“Going on where?”
“Here.” Effie led Enna through a door behind the counter and into a backroom, where a narrow set of stairs against the wall led up to the second floor—presumably residential—and crammed in the corner was a small table, with the rest of the space taken up by books, counters for brewing potions, and extra stock. She gestured Enna to the chair, and pulled over a stool for herself after dumping the papers on it onto the counter. “Sorry for the mess, I haven’t had time to clean up recently.”
“It’s alright, I don’t mind. As for your question. I know a little bit.”
“What?”
“Something scared Anne enough to make her leave and contact me sometime in the last year, after remaining in the city 13 years before that, through at least one murder charge & making no noticeable attempt to find me.”
“So you don’t know anything, not really. You don’t know why your sister ran.”
Effie’s words stung. They were right, but that didn’t mean they didn’t hurt. “So that’s what she did,” murmured Enna. “Had to be bad, then, she’s always been braver than me.”
“Bad is an understatement.” Effie ran a hair through her curly hair and tapped her fingers nervously on her leg. “If she didn’t tell you…”
“Everyone thinks I’m her. If it was bad enough to make her leave, there is a very good chance that I will get murdered within the week.” Effie looked directly at Enna’s arm, where there was a tattoo that marked her membership in the thieves guild that had defined her late teens and early twenties. Effie couldn’t see it through Enna’s sleeve, but she knew it was there.
Finally, after twenty seconds silence heavy with unspoken warnings and memories, Effie spoke. Her eyes were looking anywhere but on Enna’s face. “Beginning about sixteen, seventeen years ago, though it had been building for ages, there was a split, a schism. The old leader was of one mind, and his people controlled most of the power. Then, around the time you left, that guy died. His deputy, Lucas, took over, but he was ousted within the year. Lucas’ deputy was killed too, or bribed, or something, but they vanished.
“Maybe he never appointed one, I don’t know. I joined around that time, mostly as a safe house and a secret partner/ally for one side of the schism.”
“The side Anne was on.” It wasn’t a question.
“Yes. The next leader, the current one, has been running the show for twelve, thirteen years. When he killed Lucas, or at least I’m pretty sure he killed Lucas, maybe the dude before him too, Anne thinks he got Temerity to kill Lucas and that someone else killed the one before him. I don’t remember his name, but Anne joined the camp he was in.”
Enna interrupted. “Zephyr. The man before Lucas was named Zephyr.”
“Right, yeah, thanks. So I think that it’s the current guy—Barnabus—who killed Lucas and Zephyr, but Annie thinks that Barnabus got Temerity to kill Lucas, and that some unknown third or fourth party killed Zephyr. Anne joined the side Zephyr had been on, maybe she’d been part of it already or maybe she didn’t know about the split before Zephyr was killed—because, apparently, that threw things into the open and people thought that someone had killed Zephyr to get power to someone on the other side of things.
“Anyways, over the course of six to seven years Anne got decently high up in the side that was against Barnabus. Her position got revealed two years ago. The fifth time someone tried to kill her I made her leave town.” There was something in Effie’s voice, some secret she was trying very hard not to reveal.
Enna sighed. “Hot fucking shit. Barnabus—gods, I remember him. Bloody idiot. How the hell did he ever become the leader?”
“I don’t know. Some people think that he’s a figurehead for Geer—he’s the leader of the assassins, unofficially Anne’s opposite, second in command of the side that’s wants to make Oleski an assassins guild, as well as a thieves guild.”
“So thats what the fuckers want to do. I can see why Anne and Zephyr’d be against that, I would be too.”
“Yeah, its rotten. Y’all steal things, not kill people. When Anne left I told her to find you and to send me a letter or some other message when she got there. It’s been a year. I never got a letter. You say you haven’t seen her. Something has gone very, very wrong.”
“She’s not dead. I would know if she was dead. She can’t be dead.” Enna’s words were more a hope or prayer than anything.
“Are you absolutely, completely, certain?” Asked Effie, and there was iron in her voice.
“I…” Enna dug down inside herself. She looked for that thread of contact, the string that connected the two sisters by more than appearance and age. And she tugged on it, and after a moment something tugged back.
Enna opened her eyes. She let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. She said, voice filled with relief unimaginable, “Yes. Anne lives.”
Effie smiled, bright and true and clear, for the first time in months. “Then we can find her.” And I can keep my promise. But Enna didn’t know about the promise, and Effie refused to reveal secrets that were not hers, not completely, to keep.
The bells of the clock tower chimed noon, the deep Booms ringing out across the city and over the water beyond. “Effie? Are you in here?” shouted a voice from the front. Bezeo. He had perfect timing. “Back room, come on in!” hollered Effie, and shortly Bezeo entered, apron dusted with flour that streaked his beard and made him look decades older. He looked first at Effie, and then at Enna, before taking one of two remaining seats—a chair, the one that wasn’t next to Enna, who had wedged herself into a corner where she could see the door.
“Enna, meet Bezeo, a good friend of mine and of Anne. Bezeo, meet Enna Helder-Kromlin—do you use that last name?—” Enna nodded—, Anne’s sister.”
Bezeo blinked. “Pardon?”
“Anne’s sister. Enna.”
“Is this some sort of weird joke or… They’re identical!”
“Twin sister. Hi,” said Enna, at the same time as Effie said,
“They’re not identical, Enna’s got a scar next to her eye and Anne has freckles.”
“’Course you’d be the one to notice that,” grumbled Bezeo good natured-ly. “You probably clocked her the minute she came in, didn’t you?”
Effie smiled, not as bright as she had a minute earlier when she had found out Anne was definitely alive. “Yes. Though already knowing Enna existed did help.”
“Fuck off, I knew she exists too! Not my fault I assumed she was dead.”
“I’m pretty sure that is your fault, actually?” said Enna.
“Rude!” exclaimed Bezeo, with no real malice behind it.

Next Gen Knight's redesigns #4
These guys don't really change much but yeah,,, :] the final of the redesigns yay!
Personalities under cut;
CLEMENTINE “ARACHNID KNIGHT” GARCIÀ (She/They/It)
Daughter of Hive Knight & Unknown Mother
“Clementine is super fucking creepy even in her normal everyday life, she has this creepy joy to her and it seems that they’re eyes are never fully open and studying everything they look at with this whispery voice like a spider they’re very unnerving. Arachnid Knight loves to toy with people which may explain their odd behavior towards others, she’s oddly touchy and giggly towards those who they feel comfortable with, it’s a surprise she even has people who find her creepiness nice.”
SCOUT “VULTURE KNIGHT” BIRDIE (They/Them)
Child of Spore Knight & Mole Knight
“Scout is a very weird one being silent rarely speaking to others and just running from conversation whenever somebody tries to speak with them, only interacting with family or their few friends they’ve somehow managed to make. Vulture Knight keeps to themself and is probably the creepiest thing you’ll ever meet, finding gross things to eat (specifically raw meat, thankfully they can’t get worms or disease from it) and silently staring at people who find them, even at home they’re non talkative unless talked to first they’re a creepy individual who knows how they came out like this.”
MATHILDA “OBSIDIAN KNIGHT” KÖHLER (She/Her)
Daughter of Drill Knight & Unnamed Parent
“Mathilda is a mysterious person which seemingly makes people swoon over her often, she doesn’t speak about herself a lot and has this cold yet warm feeling she has that cause her to be popular amongst the people of the valley which is odd due to her association with the Order of Rebels a group full of weirdos. Obsidian Knight mainly keeps to herself not paying much mind to others unless it’s beneficial to her, she doesn’t show much emotion in whatever situation she’s in so it’s better to not do something that may tick her off.”
CASPIAN “CORDYCEPS KNIGHT” XIONG (He/It)
Son of Scrap Knight & Unnamed Mother
“Caspian just like most of the order of rebels is a oddity, he’s loud and energetic wanting to know everything about everyone being a bit creepily obsessive over people. Cordyceps Knight, as his name may imply, deals with parasites and parasite controlled insects due to this he has to be a bit patient with them and being able to control them (and having to change them out every few months). He happens to be very similar to his mother not knowing what personal boundary's are though he doesn’t show how much he cares about his friends, he’s a very interesting person.”

ItaKazu (Itachi Uchiha and Kazumi Ogi) (way too much needed context for this post) (betrothed as babies because of their respective clans' histories but they develop real feelings but things get in the way and the Massacre happens) (it sounds very Mary Sue-ish but I swear it's done tastefully) (absolutely and completely sunk by the time KabuKazu happens)
Suto/OC (concept currently forming)
Kiku/??? (previously Suigetsu for laughs)
Mujihi/Eiji
Hana/Her husband
Ishi/Meriko
Dragon Ball:
Future Tairi (Trunks and Kairi) (too sentimental to be renamed TruKai) (Purple Eyes was their old story)
Present Tairi (shocks everyone around them by how badly they get off on the wrong foot)
S17 (Siri and Android 17) (somehow bring out the best and worst in each other)
Ai/Eito
Misc:
Miller/Sockeye (don't get together until some time after TPP story ends)
03' Kimbley/Ingrim (shades of "dead dove do not eat") (Kimblee dies and Ingrim spits on his corpse)
Brotherhood Kimblee/Ingrim (they both die before anything can really happen)

This is when the “I'm always chasing rainbows” song from the Pilot occurs and only mention some of the changes I made
Most notably, the picture book does not occur here because it was shown separately in the Prologue to the thing, so I have more time to show Hell itself (Time travel!). The scene starts with the view of a huge pit of mud, from which we can see newcomer sinners crawl out of, their bodies covered in the mud, the Pentagram in the distance (A cameo/teaser for my OC Chole). Now we are shown the city itself, some of the scenes stay the same except Rosie painting over the Emporium sign (I scrapped that completely, Rosie is a sweetheart she couldn't do such a thing!) I added some scenes showing the party club of Missi Zilla, Rosie is shown standing behind the counter in her Emporium busy with her customers, a battlefield post Extermination and some of the new comer sinners fighting over rags of clothes from the dead sinners killed by the Exorcists. I did not forget to show Carmilla watching the fireworks from her window with her daughters, Zestial in his dark basement dungeon home (Yes I gave him a place to stay) enjoying the screams from some other room as he calves with bliss when it gets cut off with a SWISH sound of something very very sharp and very very mean, the unnamed (yes I haven't named him myself) blue-flame skull-bug overlord walking in a dark alley and talking with someone hidden in the shadows, only a sinister smile visible (Serenity cameo/tease) as well as then switching to some random wealthy-looking guy walking into a backstreet with some very good looking lady holding his hand, disappear from our sight, only the shadows visible from our view, showing that the man got his neck by something, and dragged beyond the point where we can see his shadow, a sound of metal hitting on metal and then the man walks out of the backstreet, makes his hair quickly, turns his back to us and continues walking, and we can see a glimpse of a tail retracting into the man's shirt (it wasn't there before. This is yet another {excuse me I just can't help myself} cameo/teaser for an OC Dylan). The song ends with the screen making its way up from the street rising above the rooftops (A silhouette of a man eating an apple is passed right by, another cameo/teaser to a character, this time OC Stallonfire) to reveal the Clocktower which just started the countdown (365 switched to 364)
Charlie just comes from the balcony after finishing her song, only to just collapse on the couch in tears. Vaggie comes to comfort her.
Vaggie: Charlie, is this because of the Extermination? Who am I kidding, I know you well. She sits next to her and caresses her hair. It's alright, I'm here, nobody from your family was hurt anyway-
Charlie cuts her off mid sentence
Charlie: Of course that they weren't! But what about the rest?
Vaggie: sigh You know we have a plan and that it's working. It's happening today, or did you forget?
Charlie: stunned a bit Wait, already!!?
Vaggie: Chuckles Yes, today
Charlie: B-but Im not ready to go yet! Charlie snaps. I have to check the pictures, prepare my speech, pack it all and-
Vaggie grabs her girlfriend by the forearm and stops her from panicking
Vaggie: What you need right now, is a good nap. It's midnight, and we have all the time in Hell to pack when we get up, don't we?
Charlie, embarrassed by her meaningless panic blushes slightly
Charlie: I-I guess you're right…
They both go outside of the room and the camera backs out of the window, looking upon the sky, where the episode title appears in a firework explosion. As the lights fade to black, the camera looks down at the city again. Look switches to the 666 NEWS studio and the Pilot scene play out exactly the same as in the Pilot (Sorry Charlie, that's just the way it has to go for the plot) Just like that goes the rest of the Pilot (just renamed into Ep.1) Chaggie argue with Angel in a limo. Alastor comes and flips the awfully looking building upside down using his powers and brings the staff in. Pentious attacks for the first time and gets his butt (do snakes even have butt?) kicked by Al. Everyone gets jambalaya from Alastor. Episode ends.

Redwall Reread #2: Martin the Warrior
2nd in chronological order, 6th in publication order (1993)
(major spoilers under the cut)
Summary: A young mouse warrior named Martin escapes from slavery at the evil fortress Marshank and journeys to the hidden valley of Noonvale to raise an army, destroy Marshank, free the slaves, and seek vengeance against the stoat tyrant, Badrang.
Framing Device: Two travelers stop by Redwall Abbey one winter night and tell this story to the creatures there.
The Goodies: Martin’s our main boy, obviously. Felldoh the squirrel, a fellow slave-turned-warrior, is also a key player. Then we have the critters from Noonvale: Rose (full name Laterose) and her little brother Brome, both mice, plus her friend Grumm the mole. While Martin, Rose, and Grumm travel to Noonvale, they recruit the hedgehog Pallum. They also encounter a variety of beasties: a tribe of savage pygmy shrews, the lovely mole wife Polleekeen, a family of stuffy rabbits, and a rowdy horde of squirrels, plus of course the denizens of Noonvale, including Rose’s mom and dad. Back at Marshank, we’ve got a whole host of slaves, who later team up with a group of traveling performers, the Rambling Rosehip Players, whose most notable members are Ballaw the hare and Rowanoak the badger.
The Baddies: Two stoats ((two of them))! Badrang the Tyrant, former corsair, now the cruel and calculating ruler of Marshank, and Captain Tramun Clogg, his old sea-going partner. Each of them have their own little vermin swarm, among which the only individual really worth mentioning is Hisk the weasel, Badrang's head slavedriver and personal enemy of Felldoh.
The Freakies: LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, it is time for...REDWALL HERPETOFAUNA. This demands an entire essay but for now I will just say we’ve got a whole mess of reptiles and amphibians crawling around these here Marshwood Hills.
The Birdies: The Warden of Marshwood Hill, a grey heron. AND. Boldred, the map-making short-eared owl, and her husband Hortwingle (a stay-at-home dad) and daughter Emalet. AND. A cute little dipper who Rose befriends in Marshwood Hill. Special shoutout to the various unnamed seabirds, particularly the one who steals that piece-of-shit baby shrew and tries feeding him to its hatchling.
Noteworthy Locations: All of this takes place in the northwestern region of the Known Redwall Universe, away from Mossflower Wood and the Western Sea. Most of the time, we’re at or around Badrang’s Fortress, which backs up to a stretch of coastal marshes that includes Marshwood Hill up to the north. Inland is a rich stretch of forest, including the idyllic Noonvale (which I high-key wish we’d revisit in later books), and a small mountain range/highland area.
Noteworthy Weapons: Martin the Warrior’s sword for sure. Or, I guess, his dad’s sword. For most of the book Martin’s using a pygmy shrew sword, which probably looks even more pathetic than I’ve been imagining.
Riddles: Just a little one...when Martin and friends ask Polleekeen for directions to Noonvale, she provides them with a short riddle.
Continuity Notes: This is a key story in the arc of Martin the Warrior (go figure, huh), and we also get some significant insight into Luke very early on. Apart from that, the only other scraps come from the pro- and epilogue: the storytelling takes place after Mariel of Redwall, with characters from that story. The travelers are descendants of Brome and Pallum. One of them brings Rose’s namesake from Noonvale: the seedling of a variety of late-blooming rose, which, once planted in spring, will become a characteristic component of Redwall’s appearance.
Other Notes: I believe this is the only book where rabbits make an appearance? I mean I straight-up forgot they ever made an appearance at all, that’s how rare they are. Additionally, the previous book I read (Brocktree), which takes place in a coastal terrain like this one, also features a grey heron and short-eared owl on its bird roster. The birds’ personalities are very different, though.
Tapir Takes:
(1) The B in Badger stands for Butch.
(2) I wrote down “Martin acting like the protag of an 80’s film” and I stand by it. If these were humans, he’d be the tanned youth with blue eyes and sandy-blond hair tousled by the sea wind. This vision came to me when he was rescuing that pygmy shrew nuisance from the seabirds. It also re-contextualized that earlier period of time when he first meets Rose, and he’s freaking head-over-heels, stuttering over his words, goo-goo-eyed and ga-ga-faced. Insufferable. Disney Channel Original Movie-type shit. Thank god it goes away after a couple chapters.
(3) Similarly, Rose acts like a damsel-in-distress more often than I'd expect? Ultimately yes I'd characterize her as a warrior first and a princess second, but there are still moments where she reacts to things in a distinctly feminine way (screams, passes out, paralyzed with terror), while her male companions do not.
(4) And then Martin will jump to her defense so fast!!! He is her freaking white knight. They'll all be laughing at a joke, but the moment it turns sour against Rose, Martin will intervene. And as a whole they are sooo codependent. Like when Martin was just hurling himself at the gates of Marshank and Rose was the only one able to pull him away (which I think she knew...the calmness she approached him with suggests a confidence in her own ability to get him to see reason.) She's always talking reason to him, but she herself will also do reckless things because of him, and ultimately gets herself killed running into battle alongside him. In many ways this is a really well-crafted tragedy. To me. It's also, in other ways, really freaking obnoxious (see point 2). To me.
(5) Returning to Gender for a moment. Overall, the girls in this book are a lot more finicky and shallow than they were in Brocktree. (These volumes were written nearly a decade apart, so perhaps that explains it.) I'm thinking primarily of Celandine the squirrel, secondarily of that whiny old mouse lady. For sure, there are just as many, if not more, grizzly girl warriors than there are damsels in distress, but Celandine's character still surprised me. And, like a lot of other things about this book, something about it feels a little corny, a little melodramatic, and pointedly one-dimensional in a jarring way.
(6) I can't wait to write about warriors in Redwall. This book is chock-full of characters, scenes, and quotes that illuminate the various facets of Redwall Warrior Culture. Stuff about the nature of a warrior's spirit, the inherent grief and tragedy of the warrior's destiny, the importance of nonviolence roles (while also emphasizing that such roles must coexist and cannot be substituted for one another.) Essay forthcoming, indeed.
(7) Martin definitely has some of the blandest Redwall villains. I remember Cloggs, and the double-assassination scene is always fresh in my mind, but I think that’s mostly from watching the TV show between my initial and present read of this book. It’s particularly upsetting to me because everyone in the book insists Badrang is pure evil, but there’s very little to demonstrate that evilness. He’s just a slave-owner, something most Redwall villains already are. I think the evilest thing we see him do is leave Martin out for the seabirds, but after that all he does is yell at his underlings and dish out insults. And besides that, he has no personality, especially compared to Cloggs.
(8) The frenemy angle between Badrang and Cloggs could’ve been so much more interesting than it was!!!! The crossed-wires assassination was cool and I wish we’d had more stuff like that!!!
(9) Druwp is a really interesting character. Really, really interesting. Tucking him away for later.
(10) I don’t like what Jacques does with his herpetofauna, and I don’t like how he does it two more times in this book, first with the pygmy shrews and then with the Gawtrybe. You know what I’m talking about. Essay forthcoming.
(11) The Marshwood Hill arc (?) did prove something important to me, though! Something I mentioned in my Brocktree post! Is it cannibalism to eat another talking animal, even if they're a different species? YES!!!!!! The denizens of Marshwood are called cannibals several times because they eat any travelers that come near their marsh. However, when the Warden eats them, it's treated differently. It's gross and perhaps excessively strict, but he is not called a cannibal, or considered to be stooping down to the frogs/lizards/snakes' level. Perhaps the definition of cannibalism excludes birds? When life closes an answer God opens a question. Wait that's not how that goes
(12) The end of this book always felt very sudden to me. I think that's equal parts an intentional choice on Jacques' part and an inevitable consequence of the tragedy genre. Still, I feel there should've somehow been more padding around Rose's death and the last few chapters.
(13) I mentioned the show earlier. So I’ll drop my Redwall TV Show Story here: I watched the show before I found the books. Loved the show. They adapted three Redwall books: the original, the direct sequel (Mattimeo), and this prequel. I actually own the original on DVD, somehow. At any rate, I watched religiously as they aired in chronological order on PBS, but then during a playdate with my neighbor, whose mom did not let her watch this show because it was “too violent” (pffffft baby) ((we were four)), I missed an episode early on in the third season and totally fell off the wagon! It haunts me to this day. I tried rewatching it when it was on Netflix, but I just couldn’t get into it. I might do so now, though. Just found out via the Redwall Wiki that they transed Pallum’s gender. A huge win for feminism.
OVERALL: I think I remember being not a huge fan of this book when I first read it. Well I hate to say it but I’m definitely not a huge fan now! It seems it had the makings of a good story, but the delivery fell somewhat short. Still, it had its moments <3

Hello people and other life forms, it is I, toaster.
I am greeting you with new art. Blantfred art. Because last week on an AA server we officiated a Blantfred Week consisting of the prompts:
Day 1: Lidl
Day 2: Photograph
Day 3: Elevator
Day 4: Hill
Day 5: Smoke
Day 6: Restaurant
Day 7: Children
Now onto the art I drew:
Day 1: Lidl
The boys go to lidl and buy stuff. What did they buy, I leave it to your imagination.
Day 2: Photograph
This is an art of a younger versions of the Blantfred gang. Ah the 70s 😊.
Day 3: Elevator
I took day 3 more seriously and did a whole comic depicting Manfred's guilt and pain after the DL-6 incident.
Day 4: Hill
Young Blantfred having a picnic on a hill. Inspired by the Warioware song - Tomorrow Hill.
Day 5: Smoke
For day 5 I drew them having BBQ time. Blaise is in charge of cooking the dish and he is doing a terrible job.
Day 6: Restaurant
At first I wanted to draw Manfred at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, but I scrapped that idea and I drew this horrible art.
Day 7: Children
For Day 7 I drew 3 separate drawings. Blantfred and their children. Canonical Manny has 2 children, Franziska and his other unnamed daughter.
It isn't said anywhere in the games that Damon Gant has children, but I took it a step further and look at this he has a daughter named Eliza now :> (Cringe I know). Eliza becomes a detective like her dad, but leaves the country after Rise From the Ashes.
And Last but not least Blaise and his kids... I think in older posts I had talked about the "Sebastian having an older sister who protects him" concept. Yeah. So here we have young Genevieve and Baby Sebby and their dumb dad.
Well that was quite a long post. Hope you like the art, now I must dissappear into the abyss for several days? Weeks? Months? Jk.

hi guys in this post i'm going to share the lion king/guard lore to the best of my knowledge
from the beginning, there was mohatu and some random lioness and they had a daughter named uru. there was also hata, and again, an unnamed lioness, who had a kid named ahadi. when hata no longer felt comfortable in the pride, he left and gave ahadi to mohatu. uru then grew up and had kids with ahadi, these kids were taka and mufasa. ahadi accidentally killed uru, and scarred taka in the process. taka then befriended three hyenas, banzai, shenzi, and ed. later on, ahadi heard that taka was playing with hyenas, but hyena and lions "are enemies and can never be friends". he takes taka home and scolded and grounds him for this. he then heard that taka was attacked by a pridelander teen lion named riku, but was saved by hyenas. sina, the mother of riku, scolds taka, thinking that he was a murderer, and told ahadi that he has to leave the pridelands. however, ahadi silenced sina and tells her that if she lays a paw on his son, he will have to banish her out of the pridelands. sina didn’t listen and heard that teenage taka was hiding a cub named zira. she attacked the cub along with taka, but ahadi and his pride came just in time and he banished sina, along with her daughter sarafina (who asked to go with mother) taka then decided to go by scar. mufasa meets sarabi and they become mates. sarabi now being queen, lets sarafina back into the pridelands. then mufasa has simba with sarabi, and sarafina has nala. her father is unknown. i assume he got driven out of the pride since there are only two male lions in a pride, but yknow. simba and nala had a bunch of friends. tamo, tojo, chumvi, kula, and malka. nala also had a half younger brother named mheetu, but all 6 of them were scrapped in the final project. scar and zira had two (or possibly one) kid(s). nuka (and maybe vitani, although i believe vitani is nala and scar's child). after scar's death, zira stole kovu from his real parents. kovu's real parents are named ujasiri and furaha, and they originally named kovu bahati. she only wanted him because he looked similar to scar. simba and nala had kids, too. kopa, the oldest son, who was killed by zira (book series), kiara, the daughter, who taught simba that all lions are the same, and that outlanders shouldn't be frowned apon, thus bringing peace amongst the two groups. and kion. kion is the worst. kion is the leader of the lion guard, who consists of ono, bunga, fuli, and beshte. the hyenas also have kids n stuff. banzai and shenzi have a kid named janja, and then many believe ed and shenzi had kids, who would be cheezi and chungu, but it isnt canon. janja lead his clan, which had cheezi, chungu, nne, tano, sita and saba. janja also has a mate from another hyena clan named jasiri. jasiri's clan has 12 members, but only four are named. madoa, wema, and tunu. simba and kion make an effort to invade the outlands and defeat scar's army, whilst janja grows uncomfortable with fighting the lion guard and is hesitant to join jasiri's army, which leads to scar attempting to kill him and the lion guard by trapping them in a fire. janja escapes and finds jasiri, and both of them rush to the pride landers. simba and the royal family have already escaped, and after makuu's persuasion, janja tells the pride landers the only way to defeat scar. the next day, the final battle begins, resulting in scar's defeat, and ushari's death. janja's clan joins jasiri's clan and jasiri becomes the next in-charge of the outlands. kion and ono get injured during the battle, with kion notably sporting a scar on his left eye, in a similar form of his great uncle's, and the lion guard must embark on an epic quest to the tree of life to get them healed. makucha returns as the new main antagonist after scar and assembles a group to get revenge on the lion guard and feast on the animals at tree of life.
by season three kion reaches the tree of life but is encountered by the night pride, who mistakes them for a threat and drives them out. however, the queen of the night pride, janna persuades her granddaughter, rani, the leader of the night pride and the future queen of the tree of life, to allow them in. rani and kion start to bond over each other, with rani warming up to kion. in long live the queen, queen janna has finally passed away of old age, leaving her legacy behind to her granddaughter, who becomes the new queen of the tree of life, and is comforted by kion after her grandmother's death. meanwhile, makucha's army has followed kion into the tree of life, making several attacks on the tree of life, all thwarted by the forces of the night pride and the guard. the army is eventually expanded when mama binturong, a scheming binturong whom bunga has battled follows the army and becomes their new leader, bringing reinforcements against the tree of life. during his healing, kion is visited by the ghost of askari, the first leader of the lion guard, who trains him on how to master the roar, so he can truly let go of it. kion is eventually healed, and the villains are defeated in the final battle for the tree of life. once the battle is over, kion and rani form a deep romantic bond, which leads to kion wondering if he should stay at the tree of life. makini becomes the royal mzjuzi for queen rani. however, kion is alerted by janja and jasiri, aided by azaad (whom fuli previously befriended during the journey) that zira, the evil lioness who supported kion's evil great-uncle scar, and was exiled from the pride lands to the outlands by simba, and later battled the lion guard previously, along with her children vitani, and kovu (the latter of whom was scar's successor during his rule) have threatened the pride lands, prompting kion and co. to return to the pride lands. in the series finale, return to the pride lands, after a long journey, the lion guard, jasiri, janja, and azaad have reached the outlands, where the hyenas reunite with their clanmates, who inform them that zira and the outsiders have invaded the pride lands and that zira's son kovu, has supposedly taken over pride rock. with help from the hyenas, and mzingo's parliament (who reformed after scar's defeat) the guard plans venture to stop kovu but are halted by kovu's sister vitani and a group of lionesses, shabaha, kasi, imara, and tazama, who launch an attack with the phrase "till the pride lands' end, lion guard defend!" after the two guard battle, kiara and kovu stop the fight and bring them all back to pride rock to explain the story of how kovu was raised to believe that simba was the enemy, but befriended him and kiara and as a result, betrayed zira, and with the help of kiara, united simba's pride and the outsiders, whilst zira, refusing to let go of her hate, was killed. after the guard reunites with their family and friends, vitani and kion clash over who should be the new guard, which leads to a contest between the two teams. while kion wins ultimately, vitani states she can lead without the roar, which leads to kion anointing vitani as his successor and the new leader of the lion guard. kion is later visited again by askari, who tells him that the roar of the elders could help another place. knowing askari's words, kion is given the mark of the night pride, which was bestowed upon him by the late queen janna, and the great lions of the past bestow kion with the roar once again. sometime later, we see the pride landers gather around at the tree of life and the marriage of kion and rani, as well as resulting in kion's coronation as the king of the tree of life. kion and rani roar over their kingdom as the pride landers and tree of life inhabitants cheer back in approval, with the spirits of mufasa, askari, janna, and the great lions of the past watching proudly down on them. thanks for reading!

Number of Murders: 2
Method of Harm: neglect

Known Victims: her kits, Sundapple, Redears
Victim Profile: family
Cause of Death: killed by firework
Cautionary Tale: ??
Story:
Waxpaw knew that she was special. Gladepelt told her so! He always brought her prey, and when she had kits, he went out of his way to help her take care of the kittens, telling her not to mind all the disgusted comments that clung to their kits like a second pelt.
The problem was that Waxpaw didn’t really want kits. She wanted to ditch them with Redears, but the mollie was still mourning her ‘son,’ even though she hadn’t even given birth to the little furball. She kept pestering Redears, almost jumping for joy when she finally agreed.
But Redears had recoiled when she had seen the pair. “What’s.. wrong with them?” She had whispered.
“Obviously nothing.” Waxpaw had said, then walked away with her nose turned up.
As she grew older, and got her warrior name, Waxfeather’s disdain for her kits only grew. Why had Starclan given her such ugly kits? Mudkit cried constantly, curled into a ball in the nursery, while Blackkit made other kits cry constantly with his ugly little face.
She started ignoring them, leaving them with Sundapple every chance she got. He wasn’t busy, after all, and he could easily look after a pair of ugly hairballs like her ‘kits.’
Her resentment grew more when her little nightmares started interfering with her love life. Many toms were scared off once they saw Blackkit, and none of them lasted past Mudkit’s erratic behavior.
This had to be fixed.
She grabbed Mudkit first, dragging the crying kit out into the woods while everyone was asleep. She left the scrap of fur by the river that ran through the territory, making sure to hiss at her for good measure.
Sure enough, after the initial outcry over Mudkit’s disappearance, her luck with the toms improved!
However, there was still a major problem.
Blackkit. He looked too much like her.
So she took out the middleman and dropped him into the river directly. The foolish kit had actually believed her when she said she would take him to his sister!
As she walked back to camp, her mind was racing. Maybe if she’d been more alert, she would’ve noticed the Twoleg colourstick rushing towards her.

Wounded Love (Lady Dimitrescu/F!Reader) Pt. 3
Fandom: Resident Evil: Village Rating: T for blood/violence and language Genre: Action with a lil bit of fluff Warnings: Lil bit of blood Notes: There's an unnamed character in here who may or may not end up as recurring in my stories. I don't really have anything in particular planned for her, she's kinda just here to fill a role/allow for some easter egg type shit in the next chapter. Previous Chapters: Pt. 1, Pt. 2
{Wounded Love 3: Bloody Valentine (No, not that Valentine)}
“Mother Miranda, I must insist, if these lycans stray any further they might start feasting on the village as well! Pray tell, who will you use for research then? We can’t just-... Forgive me… Mhmm. Yes, I understand. Of course… Have a good night, Mother Miranda,” Lady Dimitrescu said, before setting her phone down with a loud thunk. Her hands shake a little, and for a moment you worry that her vanity won’t survive the coming moments. Then you make eye contact with her reflection, giving her an encouraging smile, watching as her gaze softens. “I’m afraid there’s nothing she can do, my dear. I cannot allow Heisenberg’s negligence to go unpunished, but we will have to take care of it on our own, without Mother Miranda’s support.”
“Is that wise, love? To go behind her back like this? I can’t imagine she’ll be terribly pleased if we cause chaos for one of her favored few,” you replied, clicking your tongue as you thought things over. Again you see anger cloud Alcina’s face, though she makes sure not to direct it at you.
“We are not the ones who started this mess,” she reminded you, through clenched teeth. “But we will be the ones to end it, one way or another. I don’t care if I have to gut that wretched man-thing and bring Miranda his corpse as proof of his incompetence! He has shown his lack of loyalty hundreds of times… and now he will pay.” Gulping, you rise to your feet, wanting to comfort your girlfriend. While you had understood that your injury angered her, you hadn’t (until this moment) realized the sheer intensity of that rage. How much blood would be shed before this was over?...
-----------------------------
Crimson drips down the beast’s side, across matted fur, before hitting the wooden floor. A stench as awful as you had ever found filled the air, only made tolerable by the nearby presence of scented candles. What a mess, you think, glad that you wouldn’t be the one to clean it up. Why had the girls insisted on bringing the damn thing inside? Couldn’t they have simply snatched a few teeth from its jaw as a prize? Somehow you doubted that the thought had even crossed their minds. Violence was a passion of theirs, and they preferred their trophies to be as large as the effort they put into getting it.
“How close to the path did you find it?” You asked after finishing your examination of the lycan. Next to you, the eldest daughter is rapidly taking notes in a leather-bound journal. Both of her siblings stand near the fireplace, hands held out next to the flames, needing to warm up after being outside for so long. It wasn’t even that cold of a day, with temperatures averaging around eighteen degrees celsius. All the snowfall from the prior week had now melted. While you knew of the family’s weakness, you also knew that they had bundled up before leaving, and had even taken a torch with them in the hopes of using it on a lycan. Their powers had taken somewhat of a hit, temporarily, but not nearly enough to prevent them from killing a single lycan.
“Heard it howling almost as soon as we left the castle. We couldn’t smell it until halfway to the village, though. Once we could we tried to track it, only for the stupid thing to come charging at us. Must have been eight, maybe ten, meters away by the time we collided,” Cassandra answered. There’s a bit of a shiver to her voice, and you can’t help the rush of sympathy you feel in response. Being out on the path, wearing little more than a dress and scarf, had been absolute hell for you. Even if it was warmer outside now, you imagined that being weak to the cold just about made up for the difference. “There was a little more howling once we started walking back here. Louder, if not closer. Heisenbitch isn’t even trying to keep these fucking things in check.”
“Cassandra, language!” Came a voice in the distance, making everyone present look up at once. Strutting down the stairs was a clearly miffed Alcina, eyes narrowed, body tense. “Did you three really have to bring the mutt inside? Surely you advocated against this, Bela? Or did you think I wanted new bloodstains right by the entrance, where everyone can see them?” Next to you Bela winces, but doesn’t respond, too worried about angering her mother further. “And you, my dear, what on Earth are you doing on the floor? You should be resting, in an actual chair, if not lying in bed awaiting my return. There’s enough for me to worry about without you limping around on a useless leg!”
Now it was your turn to wince.
“Please, love, I know you’re stressed, but I can still help. Given enough time I could help ascertain these things’ weaknesses. At the very least I could pass on what I learned during my fight with one,” you pleaded. Then you tried to stand up, wanting to prove yourself, only to stumble, barely avoiding a faceplant- and only doing so because of Bela’s quick reaction time. She helped you to your feet, letting you lean on her, then lead you towards a bench. Begrudgingly you sit back down. “You’re only doing this because I got hurt. Helping you in your endeavor to avenge me is the least I can do.”
“Don’t be foolish,” Alcina snapped, now just a couple meters away from you. Even with that space between you, her presence was intimidating, and you almost felt like a child being scolded. “Were you to get hurt again, how would we avenge you? If you fall by your own hand, there will be naught I can do other than lock you away somewhere without any dangerous elements. What sort of existence would that be for you? I simply can’t allow it, no exceptions.” At this you pout, feeling rather disappointed. It’s not as if you were asking to carry a gun and shoot Heisenberg yourself! Not that you would be opposed to doing so, of course. “Try to put yourself in my place, my dear. Could you live with yourself if you failed to protect me?”
“I suppose I could not, love. Very well, I shall simply root you on from here, and kiss away any injuries you return with,” you replied, at last giving in. Then you found yourself smiling… and on the receiving end of a very soft forehead kiss. “Nothing will separate us, my love. None can tear apart that which the universe has stitched together.”
-----------------------------
“Like I said, my Lady, I already want him dead. Did you really think that your family was the only one to suffer because of his machinations? I know half a dozen people who would love to put a bullet in that fucker’s skull, bare mims,” the huntress said, white teeth showing in her half-smirk. There was an odd coolness to her voice, like this whole ordeal was just another job, and you couldn’t help but feel uncertain about her. Could she really be the solution to Alcina’s problem? You couldn’t even judge her arsenal, considering she had been instructed to come unarmed. After all, she was a hunter of monsters, with a sizable history to her name. If not for her hatred of Heisenberg, you would never have felt comfortable letting her come within two hundred meters of your girlfriend.
“How can I be sure that you’ll succeed? The last thing I want is to have that wretched man-thing come crawling out of the filth he lives in, angry and coming for vengeance,” Alcina responded, scrutinizing gaze locked on the huntress.
“Didn’t Duke give you my file? Or at least read the good bits out loud? I’ve been in my fair share of scraps, with all sorts of bioweapon mutant freaks. Besides, I don’t plan on leaving any receipts behind. If he manages to survive, which is already one hell of an if, there’s no way he can prove that you asked me to do it. Considering he’s already seen my face, and knows I want him dead… yeah, he won’t bother accusing you, not when I’m in the picture, and certainly not when you’ve got such a big reputation for following Mother Miranda’s word down to the very last letter. So, you gonna make this official, or what?” The huntress asked, gesturing her arms wide. Although you’re still not convinced, Alcina nods quietly, seeming ready to make her decision. Regardless of how you feel about the stranger in front of you, you’re more than willing to support your girlfriend in whatever she planned.
“Very well, huntress. Show us just what you’re capable of.”
-----------------------------
Flames licked at her heels, even as she charged forward, tickling like hot breaths against her skin. Behind her half a dozen lycans roared and screeched in unison. Smoke and ashes flew upwards, into the air, but could not poison her lungs, not when she had come prepared. Still, the mask was not as easy to breathe in as she had hoped, making her chest heave with effort at each intake of air. Good thing I’ll be gone soon, she thought, sparing a glance behind her as she ran. Dozens of trees were aflame, and countless glowing eyes watched from between the branches. They wouldn’t be there for much longer, not with what she had done.
Soon enough an explosion would shake the Earth. Then, finally, both the lycans who had killed her father and the man who desecrated the remains would be dead. And if a certain countess happened to pay her for her services? All the better, really. Funerals could be expensive, especially in such a remote village. More than that… there was no guarantee that she’d be able to outrun Mother Miranda on her own. A little money would make the flight out a hell of a lot nicer.
Assuming she made it that far. There was another scream behind her, this one more human, though somewhat warped by mechanics. It wasn’t a pained cry. No, it was filled with rage. Clearly Heisenberg had come out of his lair, hearing the fireworks, finding his scrap metal and werewolf army in chaos. From the sound of things- metal against metal, electricity crackling- he was coming her way.
“Fuck fuck fuck!” She muttered, desperately trying to get to higher ground. Even if the lycans succumbed to the overwhelming fire, it wouldn’t be hard for their leader to overcome. But the huntress was still too close to her explosives to risk activating the detonator. Just a bit farther, she thought, ignoring the way her lungs ached. Rocks kicked up with every step, loud enough to be heard from a distance, and made traction harder to keep. In the end she had to scramble to get up the side of a short cliff. A few scrapes appeared on her hands, making her curse under her breath.
But with one last movement, pulling herself up with both arms, she was finally far enough to be relatively safe. In one clean second she turned around, pulled the detonator out of its pouch and clicked the trigger. Just like that, a forest blazing turns into a mushroom cloud of pure hellfire. The setting sun makes for a beautiful backdrop, and the sight almost brings a tear to the huntress’ eyes. For a few moments she just enjoys the view. Then, without hesitation or remorse, she starts to walk away, mentally congratulating herself for a job well done.
Until something shoots past her head with terrifying speed. Before she can react another sharp piece of metal flies past her, grazing her arm, and there’s a blood-curdling roar from behind her. Then she’s running, fast as she can, pulse pounding harder than it ever has. One hand goes to the rifle on her back, pulling it out as quickly as she can. The area is rocky, with plenty of outcrops, perfect to hide behind (assuming there weren’t any hidden metal deposits). Quickly she ducks behind one, crouching to keep her head out of sight. Mere milliseconds later another metal spike slams into the ground just beyond her cover.
In the distance, more screams pierce the air, and something heavy drags itself across the ground. It almost sounds like a tank rolling through the woods. The thought alone worries the huntress, but she had never been one to let her fear control her. So she double checks her rifle, adjusts the scope, and pops out of cover. Less than a second later she has her target in her sights. It’s Heisenberg, for sure, more metal than man, but dripping with red. One press of the trigger sends a bullet straight for his ugly head. Unsurprisingly, it’s not enough to pierce his cranium, instead making him mad as hell.
Which is why automatic guns were invented, probably. The huntress holds the trigger down this time, though briefly, before dashing to the next piece of cover. She repeats the process a few times, hoping to kill the man before he could climb the cliff she stood on. If he managed to get up there with her… no, she couldn’t think about that, not now. She had to focus.
-----------------------------
Hidden among the trees, the Dimitrescu sisters watched as plumes of smoke rose in the distance. Even though they had been aware of the huntress’ plan, they hadn’t expected this much carnage. It was certainly exciting! But they really couldn’t see much from where they were. Getting closer was probably a horrible idea, and yet Cassandra shared a meaningful look with Daniela. A split second later they were forming a swarm, rushing into the trees, leaving their elder sister to yell after them.
“Mother’s going to kill me,” Bela said, before rolling her eyes and following. Maybe she could at least keep them out of trouble?... Probably not.
-----------------------------
Metal hands wrap around the huntress’ throat, squeezing hard, but do not twist or otherwise break their prey. No, Heisenberg does not intend to end this that quickly. This rodent had taken so much from him, set his plans back by decades. He was going to kill her slowly. When she still fights back, pulling a knife from her boot and trying to stab whatever she can reach, he does little else but laugh. It’s a crazed cackling that echoes through the surrounding rocky hills.
Just barely loud enough to drown out the sound of insects buzzing.
“Fuck that guy!” Someone shouted, right as a sickle descended upon the monstrous Heisenberg’s neck. The first slice isn’t enough to sever the connection, which is why it’s immediately followed by a second, from another sister, then a third, from the eldest, that finally does the job. Just like that the hands release from the huntress’ throat, and she gasps for air. Coughs leave her distracted as the sisters move to surround her. “Good thing we wanted to see the show up close and personal, eh?” Daniela asked, twirling her sickle with a little giggle.
“You idiots are just lucky I followed you,” Bela added, glaring at her sister. Internally, she was relieved that the end result was a success. Still, she worried about what her mother would think, and certainly didn’t intend to voice her satisfaction at delivering the killing blow. “Now let’s get back, before mother assumes the worst and comes to get us herself.” Sighing, she extends a hand to help the huntress up. Though their mutual enemy had been defeated, there was still much to be done. Who knew how Mother Miranda would react? Who, if anyone, would take Heisenberg’s place? There was plenty to be unsure about, and Bela let her mind wander the whole way back, hoping that things would only get better from here...

Promise
The air is thick and stuffy, like breathing in soup. It’s an uncharacteristically warm day, the rain temporarily gone and the sun shining down on wet ground. There’s plenty of people out and about, laughing and enjoying the rare sunshine.
But Kida sits in her apartment, sweating through her thinnest shirt and pair of shorts while she arranges the tiny shrine under the window. She only has the small wallet photo of Tokuma left, crinkled from wear and starting to yellow. His messy dark hair and smile are achingly familiar. Her unnamed daughter is only represented by a single, solitary scrap of yellow fabric.
It’s only been a couple years now, the pain still raw in her heart. The same pain Obito has promised to ease.
Obito slips in quietly through the door, only given a slight head turn in recognition. He came in and out of her apartment so frequently now, Kida was no longer surprised.
When she finishes, she turns to him with her eyes only slightly red and her face schooled into a mask of cool detachment.
“What do you have for me now?” she asks, gazing up at his masked face. Where she expects a curt answer, instead she is given a tilt of his head.
“Your husband and daughter… they were the reason you slaughtered those temple priests, right?” he asks suddenly and Kida can’t help but stare, shock crossing her face. He’d never asked anything personal before. Why now?
“You never told me why,” he continues, leaning against the wall and crossing his arms over his broad chest. The demand is unsubtle.
“The Land of Cats is a small island, west to the Land of Lightning. They’re protected by water and dense forest, not shinobi. Those who use jutsu are mostly contained to certain bloodlines. I wanted to visit the land of my parents… but the priests… they handed me over to a cell of rogue Cloud shinobi for protection from bandits,” Kida says slowly, her hands tightening into fists in the top of her thighs.
“They killed my husband and daughter… because they tried to escape. Because I told him to run,” Kida whispers, her eyes beginning to wet with angry tears.
“I killed the priests because they were complicit. The blood of my daughter and husband was on them,” she finishes, drawing in a shaky breath. She looks down and away, wiping at her eyes.
“You promised a world free of suffering. Promised me a child. Tell me that you will fulfill them,” she whispers, lifting her head to meet Obito’s red gaze with eyes full of anger.
Obito says nothing, only steps forward and crouches next to Kida. The Sharingan is unnerving this close but Kida doesn’t waver, only blinking furiously as she stares at him.
“Of course I will. But that requires everything of you… your loyalty, your skills, and maybe… even your death. Are you truly prepared for that?”
Silence hangs between them for several pregnant moments, Kida’s heart hammering in her ears.
“For you… anything.”

I was just going through my unnamed docs and found a snippet of a very early draft for Dead (But Not Gone)! The information in here is... super false lmao, I wrote this before I did any research at all.
I scrapped this because I didn’t like how I wrote John here, so yeah :)
John had been dead for nineteen years.
All things considered, it wasn’t that bad, not really. Most of his family had died young - his few siblings that had survived infancy had made it to their twenties, but not farther. Both their parents were here. John’s wife.
The only person still bound to the mortal coil was his sister Martha, who had been stuck raising the daughter he had never met and never really wanted to meet.
Frances was twenty-four. He was ashamed to say he didn’t check up on her nearly as frequently as one might expect of a father.
But he was no father, was he? It was just his luck that the one time he had been drunk enough to lay with a woman, he had managed to get her pregnant.
He sighed. It was merely a motion where they were, whatever this place was. The afterlife? It sure wasn’t hell, where he had expected to end up.
They didn’t need to breathe here. Or eat, drink, sleep, it was- John couldn’t say what it was, how he felt about it. Sometimes, he wondered if he could still feel at all, trapped in a place that made him miss being hungry.
That was when he summoned a Mirror. Those things of course had none of the properties a normal mirror possessed, but that was what they were called - John thought of them more as windows. Windows to the world of the living.
Windows to what he had loved and lost. The last connection he had to his Alexander.
He didn’t watch him too often, just when he needed to remind himself he had been human once, that he had loved and been loved back, and- well that wasn’t the whole truth. John had watched him a lot, in the beginning. Constantly. Because he had just died, and he’d felt so alone, and Alexander had been his anchor in life.
In death, he had been his obsession.
He still missed him. God, how he missed him, how he longed for him, how glad he was his love wasn’t with him yet, that he got to live, that he had moved on (but he hadn’t, really) and built himself a life and a family with his Eliza.
Alexander deserved to live and be happy after all the hardships he’d had to endure, even if it was without John.
John summoned a Mirror, but the instant he comprehended what he saw, he lost all focus and the window shattered.
Oh no.
He tried again. It showed the same image, the same scene playing out, of Alexander and his wife clutching at the motionless body of a young man, and John knew that face, even if it was crusted with blood, he would know it anywhere, he had watched that boy grow up.
Philip Hamilton.
Philip Hamilton was dead.
#idk i just felt like john was even more morally questionable in this version#the crossed out lines added some inner conflict i think#first draft#dead (but not gone)#fanfic#hamilton#john laurens#lams

Okay, maybe it’s my knowledge of history, maybe it’s the fact I did studies years ago into human trafficking where similar instances happened, maybe it’s knowing people in my family’s countries have had to do similar things throughout history, maybe it’s the fact I remember my lit tutor saying ‘how a person reacts to a fictional character’s plight is revealing of how they would behave in reality’, but I am getting so fed up of people condemning Lilith for what happened to Adam, or worse, mocking and belittling it like ‘omg she straight up murdered her kid lmao wtf’ which was actually a real comment I just fucking deleted off a GIF set I made. See, this is why I’m seeing these idiots, because they feel the need to comment on a GIF they’re NOT EVEN REBLOGGING. But whatever, I digress. My point of this post is:
LILITH DID NOT MURDER ADAM. SHE DID NOT KILL HIM IN PETTY REVENGE. SHE DID A HEARTBREAKING THING THAT MADE HER WANT TO DIE WHEN IT WAS DONE IN ORDER TO SAVE HIM FROM THE HORRENDOUS CRUELTY AND ABUSE SHE HAD SUFFERED FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. And this is without the added consideration that the trauma of such a painful, unnatural birth and post-natal exhaustion and other hormone/chemical issues would have effected decision making and problem processing.
Okay, so listen; mothers killing their children to spare them from horrors is not an invented concept. It is horrendously true and has happened throughout history. Primarily, to stop their children being taken into slavery, being raped by invaders, saved from sex rings or taken for whatever miscellaneous yet horrendous situation they’re in, which has included abusive fathers. I am speaking as someone who is Irish, where Cromwell swept the land throwing children into slavery (my great-great-so-on Uncle was a child who was taken, but he survived, and we have relatives out in the Caribbean due to this, which is also how a great-great.great-grandparent met his wife. But again, I digress) and knows there were instances where those, unable to hide their children, killed them rather than submit them to the absolute horrors Cromwell’s men were inflicting (they raped a lot of women, murdered the men, raped and/or stole the children. Whole villages were decimated) and as someone with Mexican grandparents and knows how ancestors were treated so violently and cruelly by invaders that killing children to spare them was by no means an uncommon reaction (and an entirely understandable one).
The most famous incident of this happening, possibly because she was already a slave and therefore considered ‘property’ rather than an unnamed native person being dragged from their home, and it was recent enough for official news reports, was Margaret Garner. She was a runaway slave, and, when surrounded by slavers to take her back, she cut the throat of her 2 year old daughter, and planned to kill her other three children and then herself, but the slavers got to her first. They then told her she was property and not a mother at all, and they weren’t her children, but the slaver’s property and therefore she’d damaged property. The horror of that story is undeniable and Margaret’s actions undeniably understandable and cry for sympathy and empathy....and YET, there are still people who condemn her today. Really. So it shouldn’t surprise me there are people condemning a woman in a fictional story too.
More recently, there have been cases/stories coming forward of human trafficking victims, getting pregnant through no fault of their own, and, knowing the child would be trafficked too, have smothered them in their sleep before they could be taken.
Lilith is an abuse victim. Severely abused. She is treated as a slave, Lucifer even says ‘you belong to me and only me’ considering her to be his property, ‘Lilith knows her place; to serve’, ‘there is no escape to Tibet or anywhere else’. Lilith, really, in part 1 and half of part 2 has fucking Stockholm Syndrome; she has no reason to be loyal to Lucifer, we see how afraid she is of him, yet she sticks by him and is grateful for the scraps of approval he gives her. She has suffered so much abuse for thousands of years and lived through it that she had been entirely mentally conditioned by it. It took a huge amount of inner strength, and developing relationships with others (namely Sabrina and Adam 2.0, but also the likes of Theo Putnam, Mrs Meeks) for her to break free of that mindset.
But Lucifer is her abuser. There are countless instances of where we see her absolute terror; look how she begs for mercy after Sabrina’s failed Dark Baptism, how she flinches and covers her face when he comes near her, think of the terror in her eyes when he says ‘and you know what I’m like when I’m bored’, think of her sickening fear in part 3 when she realises the Dark Lord is free, how full of panic and fear she is trying to find out where he’s hiding, of how she desperately tries to hide at fucking Mary’s to get away from him, how she’s dragged out by her hair, think of the fear she has on her face when she chooses to face him and watch the horror on her face as she realises what he’ll do to Adam, and look at the fear and broken spirit of her when she realises she can’t stop him.
Lucifer has abused Lilith for millennia and convinced her that it was love that he was ‘lifting her up’ and ‘making her worthy’, classic abuser language. He even used her own freaking familiar against her. She was treated as property, treated however he chose in that particular moment, and by her own claim she’s done ‘unspeakable things’ to help him, believing she loved him. THOUSANDS of years of abuse and she’s only recently broken free of that, before she’s forced back into his arms, metaphorically-speaking. She is now, however, aware it’s abuse, and she knows what she’s suffered, and how cruel he is, and how he made her into something else, how he used that abuse and cruelty to mould her into what he wanted (think how differently she behaves when she’s his ‘loyal servant’ to how she behaves when she’s free from him and independent. We see a very different Lilith). She knows what Adam will suffer, because she’s suffered it herself. When Lucifer says he’ll suckle on a hell hound and ‘toughen him up and all that’, the expression on Lilith’s face is heartbreaking; she knows exactly what he means by toughen him up. It’s the same as ‘make you worthy’. And the thought of her son going through everything she went through, and then constantly having to fight for his life, fighting against Caliban or Caliban’s children, suffering everything Lilith has, but never having known anything else, never having anyone who loves him truly, no one who could help him escape...it fills Lilith with fear.
And, she’s seen the Dark Lord get his way over and over again. She’s seen how even Sabrina accepts him as her Father now. She knows the Aunts offered to protect her, but even Hilda is only suggesting they leave, like they can’t actually physically fight him, only do their best to keep Lilith safe. And Lilith knows he’ll find her eventually; her experiences and her severe abuse mean she sees it as inevitable, because she’s ‘learned’ it’s inevitable. Lilith cannot see a possible way to keep baby Adam safe. She knows the only way she can protect him from the Dark Lord is to kill him, and destroy the body (or devour the body, however you wish to interpret the bloody scene) so he can’t resurrect him after he’s killed her. Because, yes, Lilith intends to die. Like Margaret Garner, her plan was to die WITH her child, but she was stopped. Lucifer knew that was her intent, that that was what she wanted (she does openly beg him to kill her) and that is exactly why he makes her immortal, so she can never be with her son, but by cursing her with humanity-- to age and rot etc-- he’s making sure she will only get weaker and not have the power to get back her son by any means.
Lilith continues to try to join her son throughout the next episode, to the point of getting a hold of the only blade that can kill an immortal, and it’s only when Marie gives her her son’s spirit, placing it in something solid, meaning-- with magic-- Lilith does have a chance to bring her son back, that instead of wanting to die, she decides to destroy Lucifer instead, as she has nothing to lose. Either, she destroys Lucifer and takes all her power back and gets her son back, or she fails and she dies. She essentially becomes a woman with nothing to lose, and they’re the most dangerous people, because there’s nothing to make them hesitate. As Lucifer learned in a very hard way.
#this was essentially a frustrated rant#but it's also#random thoughts#observations#and#headcanons#it's all the things#i don't normally do tw but this is quite in depth so#tw suicide#tw abuse#tw rape

Introducing my Lavellan brothers;
Fenrir Maliel - Assassin Blades Rogue (the oldest & a shameless self insert) - 27-31
Lin Maliel - Two Handed Reaver Warrior (the middle child, and the Official Inquisitor) - 25-29
Sandu Thevael - Necromancer Mage (the youngest, the “black sheep” that isn’t actually the black sheep: the red herring if you will) - 18-24
Fenrir and Lin were originally of Clan Maliel, which was massacred in an event the elder brothers refer to exclusively as “The Trample”. Clan Maliel was caught in the crossfire between two human settlements, both of which decided to take a shortcut through Clan Maliel’s campsite. The brothers, as young as 4-7 years of age, hid during the duration of the battle. They emerged after the ground was razed, and the fires were long cold.
They were fortunate to have survived the month long journey they took to find safety, picking up scraps as they went. After that period of time, they encountered a trail Clan Lavellan left: freshly put out bonfires, Halla tracks, indents from footsteps and wagon wheels. Tired and hungry, they stumbled into the open, and were caught by one of the healers.
Fenrir is blind in his right eye, Lin has an unnamed heart condition and the tip of one ear is cut off, they both manage. They gain inspiration from the other elves in Clan Lavellan, who have lost much more than an eye or an ear.
They were adopted into the clan as full blooded members, and nobody questioned why neither of them looked or acted quite like the other elves. They trained with the masters, and became an integral part of their community.
Five years later, they go out as a junior party to scout the Emerald Graves, where they encounter another site of a wrecked elven clan. They determine a demon outbreak to be the cause. Sifting through the rubble they find records of this clan: formerly known as Clan Thevael, sister clan of Clan Maliel. They pack as many intact journals and scrolls as possible, and as they were about to leave, encountered a young Sandu. It was clear to them they were taking this child in. The Clan Lavellan healers determined that Sandu was left alone for some time, and that there was no easy way to tell his age due to malnourishment.
Sandu turned out to be a proficient mage, but he was one too many in the clan. Fenrir and Lin begged Keeper Istimaethoriel to keep Sandu around, and somehow convinced her. Sandu is timid, and does not take up more space than he feels he absolutely needs. Keeper Istimaethoriel, though careful around him, tries to make him feel welcome. It’s a work in progress.
Around the time Lin was pulled into the Inquisition, Fenrir investigated the files they found in Clan Thevael’s ruins. He read letters exchanged between his mother and a friend of hers, talking about their origins, how their clan was shunned by others. A few years after Lin’s emergence as Inquisitor, Fenrir arranged a meeting between his two brothers to discuss exactly who they were.
This meeting between the brothers enlightens Lin on many things, and when the time comes to confront Fen’Harel, he is able to put the pieces together as to his original clan’s history. Fenrir discovers why his peers hesitate when saying his name. Sandu has the closest relation to Fen’Harel, but his clan buried these records deep within their stories to protect themselves from scorn, and his exact ancestry is unrecoverable.
They do know that Sandu is more precisely Fenrir and Lin’s nephew, but they treat him as a brother anyway. Fenrir is three years older than Lin. They don’t know exactly how much younger Sandu is, but they estimate the difference to be as little as two years to as much as eleven years to Lin. Sandu’s stunted growth made it a difficult task.
If Fenrir were the Inquisitor, he would have married Cassandra (Vivienne as Divine), and travelled between his estate in Kirkwall and where the new generation of Seekers train. He abandoned the elven gods and adopted Andrastian faith, and became somewhat of a religious zealot. While running errands in Kirkwall, a masked assassin targeted him, and Fenrir was afflicted with a deadly poison. He died within days, and though Varric sent for Cassandra as soon as he could, she was barely too late to make it before Fenrir passed. They had a single child, who Cassandra named “Maliel”, after his lost clan, even though their child was not elven.
Otherwise, Fenrir remained within Clan Lavellan. He became an elder, who was tasked with training their non-mages. He was well-loved and respected, but clan members were always wary of him, as he had an edge to him that unnerved them at times. He recognized that his past experiences would always have made him cynical. Fenrir connected with one of the mages, a woman named Ghili, and they had twin daughters: Juna and Fenwe.
Lin became partners with Iron Bull, and vied to rebuild everything he could. He did not want for anyone to be unreasonably vulnerable, and so he remained meticulous in how he influenced Thedas. He gained favor from Fen’Harel because of the care he put into his actions, though he was always spiteful of the betrayal. After the conclusion of the events in Trespasser, Lin joined the Chargers, and became quite a hit. His arm, amputated from the elbow down, was a roadblock for him. He switched from two handed weapons to a sword and a shield. The shield, specifically tailored to him, acted as a prosthetic arm. Iron Bull jokes that it’s more of a boon than anything else, as its massive size is akin to an impenetrable wall. Lin encounters a small child during a job, and nearly dies protecting it. They are a human toddler, simply nicknamed “Finn”.
As the years go by, Lin’s health declines, and eventually he retires from fighting for good. Iron Bull and Lin retreat to the Storm Coast, bringing Finn along with them. The mantle of leader of the Chargers passes to Krem. Finn learns to fight the Reaver style, and alters Lin’s shield to be useful to them. Finn joins the Chargers, and makes a name for themself as the Lightning Bolt of the Chargers, “Finn the Bolt”, for short. They all find it to be a funny title.
If Lin is not the Inquisitor, he joins Fenrir in the search for their heritage, and becomes an elder as well. Lin teaches healing and non-violence, diplomacy, and culture. He becomes a father through surrogacy, and has a child who they call “Denmirr”.
Or he stays with Clan Lavellan and searches for elven orphans, adopting a bit of a clan of his own. Because of how many children he adopts, Clan Lavellan sends him away with extra members to revive Clan Maliel. Most of the children are not related by blood, but it becomes somewhat of a family of its own.
He himself develops a flirtatious relationship with one of the male warriors, Naris. Fenrir teases him often, but means well.
Sandu, as the Inquisitor, had to learn how to insert himself as the dominant party. He observed Vivienne and found her to be his greatest confidant. Not only did she teach him much about magic, she taught him confidence and that his image didn’t need to reflect who he is completely. She didn’t approve of his choice to establish Leliana as the Divine, but she respected his decision and his reasoning. Sandu felt foolish when he faced Solas for the last time: wondered how he could have missed the signs. After he disbanded the Inquisition, he returned to Clan Lavellan. He remained accessible for Cassandra to summon him when needed, but became Keeper after some time passed, and his connection to the clan became strong again. He never assumed the name Lavellan, but was referred to as that, similarly to a title.
He otherwise would become a tradesman for the clan. He sent to towns and cities to be a spokesman, and learned to deal with ruffians after being abused into a bad situation on a few occasions. In one far trip to the Anderfels, he met a surface Dwarf named Jekard (ym/yr [yim•yer]), and formed a brother-like bond with ym. They exchanged insight and advantages with each other, and both Clan Lavellan and Jekard’s guild benefitted. He met Krem once, and looks up to him like an idol. Sandu never fell in love, and really had no interest to, but took a group of apprentices who aspired to learn from their Keeper. Imposter’s Syndrome hit him hard for a very long time, before he realized he was right where he belonged.
If none of the brothers became Inquisitor, all three stayed together, and functioned as a single mind. They dedicated their lives to Clan Lavellan out of gratitude, and the clan evolved into one of the strongest outposts in all of southern Ferelden and Orlais. They all had different roles, but the future generations of the clan benefitted greatly from their presence.
If all three brothers became influential members of the Inquisition, their power would likely have gone uncontested. Their strengths would allow them to spread farther than if only one of them were Inquisitor. The Inquisition would be an empire, and almost definitely considered a threat to even Par Vollen. Fenrir and Lin would take it different directions, and the possibility of a schism turned great. Sandu would side with Lin for the sole reason that he found Fenrir’s ideologies to be extreme. The Inquisition would be built up by the brothers, and torn down by the brothers.
In that scenario, a civil war would erupt between Fenrir’s loyalists (the Fenedhis), and Lin’s loyalists (the Athim). Fenrir would slay Lin, but Sandu would defeat Fenrir. Sandu would dismiss all soldiers and scatter the army, and soon after would disappear without a trace. He wasn’t dead though- his presence was tangible even though he could not be seen.
While this doesn’t encompass all that these characters are, I thought it was a nice overview of these brothers I’ve had in my mind for a while. The inspiration came from my realization that most of my DA:I characters are elves and Qunari. I might do more in-depth timelines for each brother later. This is completely separate from Dragon Age canon, clearly, and is just a fun little thing I put together. I may revise it if there are details I want to alter.
