If there will be a Let's Go Johto, in the same art style of Let's Go P/E but with the regular battle system like in all the other main games, it'd be the best pokemon game for me. Even topping black/white 2.
Let's Go P/E is sooo fucking beautiful and just captures the child like universe of the pocket monsters perfectly.
I'm not a genwunner but man, those games are gorgeous and I appreciate them.
#dragon's stupid thoughts#pokemon slander time!#a pokemon present will very likely air in a bit more than month and I'm scared but also excited#jfc#but I'm so serious#and if they fix the awful level curve too#woah then THAT'S what I'd call the perfect poke game#that's my dream#i feel nostalgia to gold and silver#and hg and ss were the best remakes#so please don't mess this up#this has so much potential#I'd even take some god awful gen 5 remakes if we get such a let's go next

yeah i'm not gonna disagree with that.
i did always find it strange that, to get the full experiance of a game, you as a consumer were expected to buy two variations of the same game (with minor differences) then a THIRD version one year later that fixes things that should never have been an issue in the first place, but STILL excludes content from the first two versions!
for example, the d/p/pt example because g4 was my generation. d/p were woefully incomplete games, pt was necessary to make them playable. but then pt excludes some pokemon and events that can only be accessed in d/p?
hg/ss are widely considered the best games in the franchise, but why remake gold and silver over crystal?
or the absolute fucking mess that is trying to complete the g3 national dex.
i appreciate in g1 how the creative team might have truely had the best intentions. two versions to encourage trading and co-operation between players, and then releasing an improved third version because r/g is an unstable, broken mess held together with cocktail skewers and chewing gum.
but the studio as a whole totally took away the lesson of "we can sell the same game three times!" over any moral lesson about giving teams the time to finish their products
dlc is preferable because at least it is a continuation of the story, rather than expecting your players to play the same shite with slight changes for a second time.
the fact that the whole "three versions!" thing even bled into the spin-offs.... why the hell was explorers of sky not released as a single, finalized game.....
Hot Take about Pokemon below. Just letting you know so you can scroll by.
There is barely any difference between 3rd games and DLC in Pokemon. Both add in new content, bring back old Pokemon as a selling point and are made to make up for the fact that the original games are betas they sold. The 3rd games may fix more but they still effectively sell the SAME game twice...thrice actually.
The only 3rd games that geniunely have a reason to exist are BW2 by virtue of being sequels. They actually did something new and didn't just repeat the same game but with polish and fixes that would have been implemented if they spent another year on the games.
Pokemon has been cutting corners and selling incomplete games for decades now. SV is the tipping point where they couldn't cover it up anymore. Acting like modern Pokemon is uniquely bad about this instead of it just being where it was the most obvious is kind of depressing.
Proof: Emerald fixing the Gym Leader teams to not be awful and Platinum's...everything.

With 2019 coming to an end, I wanted to make a list of my personal top 10 video games that came out this decade. I was 12 in 2010, and now being 21 video games have always been important to me! Many of the games that are the most dearest to me sadly came out before 2010 (HG/SS barely made the cut with the NA release). I tried to not make recent releases be part of my bias (FE3H lol), plus there were many games such as Bioshock 2, Fallout New Vegas, DA2, ACNL, and many more that I love but this list would have been too long!
1. Dark Souls (2011)
2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017)
3. Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver (NA 2010)
4. NieR Automata (2017)
5. Final Fantasy XV (2016)
6. Bloodborne (2015)
7. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (2017)
8. Astral Chain (2019)
9. Granblue Fantasy (2014)
10. Deemo (2013)
Dark Souls: Although I haven’t really completed the game personally, I’ve seen many playthroughs and videos about the story and characters. Hidetaka Miyazaki is absolutely awesome in creating those fantasy worlds and characters, everything that Dark Souls ended up influencing was pretty groundbreaking. And the OST is always enjoyable to hear again.
Breath of the Wild: This game took quite a long time for Nintendo to release, and when it finally came out on the final year of the WiiU and the birth of the Switch... it was pretty emotional. Also to realize that Iwata-san never made it to see the rise of Nintendo’s success after the failure of the WiiU gets me everytime, but I hope he sees all the smiles and joy BOTW has brought since its release. The game changed not only what is a LOTZ game but what is an open world, I’ve played it twice and each time I picked it up was a new experience.
Pokemon HG/SS: This game was released around Fall 2009 in Japan, but for NA it was out in March 2010. I still remember the anticipation for Spring Break to arrive in order to spend all my week playing it! I never had the chance to play the original Gold/Silver, so everything was new to me. My 12 year old mind almost exploded when I ended up finishing the Johto League only to find out we were ALSO traveling to Kanto!!! I was shook! This game is amazing, and Ill forever wait for them to somehow add our Pokemons following us around, that mechanic was so cute! And of course the OST is golden, and I can always listen to it and be brought back to those days.
NieR Automata: I never played any of the past NieR games (although I was aware of their existence). The first trailer I ever watched had the “Become as Gods” song so I was hooked from the start! And learning that PlatinumGames and Square Enix both developed the game made me hyped for its release. I love everything about it, the characters, story, music, themes. By the time I finished the game, it had brought me into a journey of questioning so many heavy topics about life...I really wasn’t expecting that about a game. Not going to lie it may or may not have brought me a mini existential crisis but with a game made my Yoko Taro can’t be too surprised.
Final Fantasy XV: The game I so often heard fabled tales since as back as 2009 and the hype was just building up for this game! I remember going to the movie theater when they were having special screenings for the Kingsglaive movie (I dragged my friend, little brother, and mom lol). The game went through so much, many cuts and changes were made but I personally ended up liking what we got. Still super sad that many unreleased DLC’s were cut off, but the love I have for the characters and music will always stay.
Bloodborne: Hey another Miyazaki game, what can you say...the man just makes brilliant games. He took everything I love about gothic, victorian era, and Lovecraftian esque and made this extraordinary game. I’m here hoping that maybe this 2020 we can hear a slither of news of Bloodborne 2, the theme for this game is too good for them to leave it as only one game.
Fire Emblem Echoes SoV: After the train wreck that was Fates, I literally was not expecting for us to get another FE title so soon! Japan waited 2 years for Echoes but thanks to localization giving us Fates in 2016, we got SoV a year later. I never heard of Fire Emblem Gaiden, before this game I never played any of the Japan only FE games, so when news was coming out about this title I tried 100% to AVOID it. Why? Because this was the first time I could start a FE game without personally knowing anything about it, and when I first played it, right from the start it felt so different, it didn’t felt like a Fire Emblem game (which isn’t bad at all). With the new art direction it also felt like a whole new world, I love Hidari and I hope we get to see them more in future FE games. The game had a simple plot which I didn’t held it against them, I knew this was a remake, and personally I’m glad they didn’t added things like an Avatar or S-Supports. They stayed true to its original source, and SoV will stay as my personal favorite FE game. Also Heritors of Arcadia will be the best vocal theme we got in FE series.
Astral Chain: Oh snap another PlatinumGames IP? This developers are just too good! Astral Chain came out of nowhere although I’ve heard it was worked on for a long time, supposedly even before NieR Automata was developed. I really enjoyed the game very much, from all the 2019 games that came out it caught my eye and I went in with not too many expectations but I had a good time. The story took a crazy turn and I could see some similar themes as NieR Automata but it held its own ground to become unique. The fighting mechanics were so much fun to play and the music was also awesome! I wish more people talked about this game since it is Nintendo’s new IP. I hope we can get the twins for Smash Ultimate!
Granblue Fantasy: I first new anything about Cygames back in 2016 when I saw the OP for Rage of Bahamut. After Seeing the OP for season 2, seeing Azazel in all his glory I knew I had to watch the anime! Luckilly Rage of Bahamut season 2 was continuing in 2017 so I was able to catch up just in time for its final 10 episodes. I LOVE Azazel and Kaisar and of course ROB Lucifer! Then to my surprise I found out about GBF, and I was dumb and thought the app was unavailable in the west which is technically true since you need a Japanese account to download the app which has an ENG text option. So it wasn’t until 2018 that I downloaded the game and started my journey through the sky. This gacha game literally changed what is a gacha game to me, the developers listen to fans, the community is fun, and just everything about this franchise is so great. I’m not a hardcore player so I’m not too worry about grids, I’m here for the cute husbands. (Lancelot, Sandalphon, Albert, Grimnir I lov u).
Deemo: I love this game, one of the best app games I’ve ever had. Back in the day I used to play TapTap Revenge and that was my first taste of rhythm games, Deemo brought me back to those types of apps. Whenever I was anxious I could always play this game and pass the time while keeping my mind busy. Plus without Deemo I would have never known artist’s such as Mili. The game is on the Switch which I’m so happy because I was able to just get all the songs without flooding my tablets storage space.
#i won't explain why these are my favs since it will literally turn into an essay#fire emblem echoes shadows of valentia#fire emblem echoes#dark souls#darksouls#botw#loz#the legend of zelda#pokemon heartgold#pokemon soulsilver#ffxv#nier automata#top 10#bloodborne#astral chain#gbf#deemo#video games#list

Me And My Friends, We're Gonna Do It Right...
One area that has was historically missing from Johto was the Safari Zone. I’ve written at length about my frustrations in the Kanto (twice!) and Hoenn Safari Zones and, although I never wrote it up, Sinnoh has an equivalent area known as the Great Marsh, located in Pastoria City. The Great Marsh was essentially the same Safar Zone experience - pay-to-play, limited number of steps, 30 Safari Balls with which to capture pokémon - with the added gimmick that a number of the pokémon available changed each day, making it even harder to find what you want. Oh, and it is a marsh, so navigating it is an absolute nightmare as you get bogged down every few steps. Luckily, there were only two Sinnoh pokémon that are exclusive to the Great Marsh; Skorupi and Carnavine. Although encountering them could take a while, they were nowhere near as difficult to catch as Chansey or Kangaskhan in generations gone by, so the whole experience was way less irritating.
In beta versions of the original Gold/Silver/Crystal games, during the post-game trip to Kanto, there was still a rudimentary Safari Zone, but this was removed in the final product. So it makes sense that in the remakes, this missing piece of the region was restored. The Kanto Safari Zone area is transformed into the Pal Park location, owned and operated by the son of the original owner, Baoba, who has struck out on is own to open a brand new Safari Zone area in Johto. This is located to the west of Cianwood City at the end of a couple of brand new routes added to the region.
Regular readers will know that the Safari Zone is probably one of my least favourite areas of any region due to how frustrating they can be, so I was pleased to find that this new Johto version is the best one to date. However, this might just be down to the fact that there is nothing I have to catch here, with anything exclusively here in HG/SS, also available to me through my Pokémon Emerald game and Pal Park. Baoba’s Johto Safari Zone does away with the limited number of steps and instead allows you to wander as long as you want until you either leave or use up your Safari Balls. It is also fully customisable as at any one time, the Zone is made up of 6 squares in a 2x3 grid pattern and these can be made up of a choice of 12 different biomes; Peak, Desert,Meadow, Plains, Forest, Swamp, Marshland, Mountains, Rocky Beach, Wasteland, Savannah, and Wetland. You get to control which 6 biomes will appear, and in which order, making this an experience with a lot less wandering just to get to the area you want.
On top of this, the Johto Safari Zone contains so many more pokémon than any of it’s predecessors. The player can make additional pokémon appear by placing different types of ‘Blocks’ into the various biomes. Certain pokémon need certain combinations of Block type/value to be present in order to appear and you need to play the Safari Zone for a number of days to level up the value of the placed Blocks, but overall this level of control is appreciated. It also marks the first time several pokémon have ever been available in the ‘wild’, including Shelgon, Vigaroth, Metang, Breloom, and Riolu. Well done Baoba, you finally seem to have gotten it right!
Another side effect of the new routes that have been carved out to reach the Safari Zone is that some interesting ancient secrets have been uncovered. As you traverse the route, a combination of Surf and Rock Climb will let you reach a dead-end containing a entrance to the mysterious Embedded Tower. Initially the tower seems to be empty, but the patterns on the floor may be familiar... You talk to an NPC who tells you this tower was built by ancient people arriving in Johto from Hoenn and that the foundations are deep under the sea, with the very top touching the sky itself, essentially meaning the tower connects the sea, the land, and the sky. Combined with those patterns, this sure sounds like a certain Weather Trio!
Indeed if you return to the cave with either a Blue (HeartGold) or Red (SoulSilver) Orb gifted to you by Mr. Pokémon - the stupidly-named NPC who gives you the Togepi egg right back at the start of your journey - then either Kyogre or Groudon will appear for you battle and capture! This is a very cool way to work the Ruby and Saphhire Legendaries into the Johto games and also gives you a reason to play both HeartGold and SoulSiilver (as if I needed any encouragement!) since they are version exclusives. The cherry on top is that if you capture both and transfer them to the same game, taking them to Professor Oak will get you the Jade Orb, which brings Rayquaza to the tower to complete the set. The nice detail here is that Oak only gives you the Jade Orb for Kyogre and Groudon that have been caught in the Embedded Tower - trading up your Hoenn versions from Emerald won’t help you!
That uniqueness makes these pokémon worth having in my opinion, so with Kyogre captured, I make a note to pop back and complete the set when I play through SoulSilver!

Gen 4 Review
Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver. All fantastic games, but I’m giving my review away.
The Sinnoh region is huge and so diverse. Maybe too big? A lot of routes are super long and rough to get through, and the story has you running all over the region — which is only an issue if you don’t have a flying-type for awhile like I did my most recent play through. But along with size it’s also relatively forgetable. Each replay I’ve completely forgotten the story and order of towns/gyms. That does make each play through like new, but it’s not good that I can’t remember the name of hardly any characters or locations. The region itself is pretty ho-hum but they’re still fun games.
And then there’s HG and SS. These games really raised the bar on remakes. They added so many great features along with the crisp graphics from the sinnoh games. Of course the best of these was following Pokémon. Not just Pikachu this time, but ANY POKÉMON YOU HAVE. It’s amazing and definitely one of fans’ most desired features to return. The puzzles were updated, the Pokégear was updated, even the opposite sex avatar was put in the game! These are my favorite Pokémon games of all time and I think the world of them.
But level balance is still wonky. The split road confusion after the ghost gym still didn’t get resolved. And the apricorn-to-ball process is only slightly quicker. It was hard to improve the original without completely changing the region, so it just made a good effort. The game is still fantastic, just not totally smoothed out.
Gen 4 is pretty great. It has my favorite graphics of the 2D games and some great new Pokémon and mechanics. It’s five better WORKING games rather than particularly fantastic story, characters, or new Pokémon. It sits comfortably as great progress for the series.

Hi it’s 11:41 AM and I have responsibilities ™ but instead I’m writing this post that will matter to 0-2 people who will read this
GENERATION 4 IS THE BEST POKÉMON GEN
What do I mean by this? Well let’s take a look at the contents of this generation
Pokémon Diamond
Pokémon Pearl
Pokémon Platinum
Pokémon Heartgold
And Pokémon Soulsilver
This gen is home to the Sinnoh region and the Johto remakes, which are some of the best Pokémon games of all time. All of these titles lie in the range of 83-87/100, which are pretty good. They were the first Pokémon mainseiries games to be released for the DS, making them revolutionary to say the least.
What a large number of fans agree on is that the addition of your Pokémon walking behind you in HG/SS was one of the greatest things to come out of a Pokémon game and I agree. It’s awesome to be able to turn around and talk to your favourite little pocket monsters.
Although it’s very pixilated, when have Pokémon games ever had current graphics. The style is what really matters, and the style of these games is absolutely top n*tch. They added 29 new evolutions to older Pokémon, spicing up your Eeveelution wheel with the arrival of Leafeon and Glacion (babies, the both of them!) and added ones like Roserade, Galade, and even some that don’t end in ‘Ade’. There are 107 new Pokémon with Generation 4, almost all of them actually worth something. (I’m looking at you Mime Jr.)
It also introduced the Psysical/Special split, a great improvement that would remain in all future main series titles. You can now RUN while you’re INDOORS. It’s wonderful. They have some of the best storylines, some of the best new designs, and some of the best new features of any Pokémon game in history.
What it all boils down to is that DPP have the best story and mid game, and HGSS have the best post game and side features.
Anyways this is my opinion. Thanks for reading this far in. Have a good day.

Opinion on each Pokemon gen?
Gen 1: Really good! Classic for a reason, the glitches in that game have fascinated me ENDLESSLY, pokemon fr/lg is really good fuck you doc, i wish nintendo would stop being like ‘LOOK AT THE FIRST GEN POKEMON ARENT THEY NOSTALGIC’
Gen 2: REALLY REALLY GOOD, first one to have an actual postgame besides ‘look a tower’, I love Lugia a lot, HG/SS are maybe the best remake games to date. fuck you doc.
Gen 3: POKEMON EMERALD IS THE BEST GAME IN THE SERIES, MEET ME IRL AND FIGHT ME ABOUT THIS, NINTENDO BRING BACK THE BATTLE FRONTIER YOU COWARDS
Gen 4: Perfectly good. Not like. the best, but I still have a soft spot for it. The battle frontier in this game was also perfectly good, GIVE IT BACK TO US GAME FREAK
Gen 5: Black and white were good, perfectly fine imo, but Black and White 2 blew them COMPLETELY out of the water, in my opinion its about on par with Emerald in terms of fun and ‘should i drop another forty bucks on the Update Game y/n’ (the answer is yes its so good). It did introduce the whole ‘update game has two versions’ thing tho which is dumb in my opinion. just make it one game you weirdos
Gen 6: its……..fine……..the pokemon introduced were REAL good, but the Kalos region was kinda ‘eh’. The first game that didn’t really have a memorable music track. I’m a huge fan of the intro of character customization and Lumiose city, those rocked. RIP Pokemon Z.
Gen 7: YOKAI WATCH IS THE BEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO THE POKEMON SERIES AND THIS IS THE PROOF. I’m still disappointed with a lot of the music, but god the characters and the region and the pokemon make up for it. US/UM is okay.

How do you dump saves in Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver?
I finished 'making' a turtwig for my pokemon Diamond but after I did set and then save file it didn't save at all. It simply turns off. After i failed to save in pokemon diamond i tried to make one 4 black and it saved but at the same time the day before I did manage to save on both pokemon diamond and black. There is no Pokemon quartz yes ther is a game Pokemon quarts its a hacked version of ruby and the programer didn't finish all the settings so this is wher you cant save the game. I found out the other week when i brought the game the best way to do it is to download it on the computer some reason it you can save it ther and not on the gameboy Read More.
I can remember playing soul silver with an older version of Desmume where it worked just fine for me. Even WITH cheats enabled. Perhaps still some freezes/crashes throughout the game, but not as many as of now -using the newer version(s) just bringing up an idea. Perhaps there's already a fix for this problem. Pokemon rom hacking has truly gone extra miles these days. Although most rom hacks are on the Game Boy Advance, more and more rom hackers are taking a new step by creating amazing Pokemon DS Rom Hacks. Download Pokemon Roms For Desmume; Pokemon Nds Roms For Desmume. DeSmuME can be a little tricky to set up, but once running you'll be able to enjoy a huge selection of games in ROM format. DeSmuME is a solid Nintendo DS emulator for the Mac. This release focuses on emulation bugfixes and features of interest to homebrew developers. Most users will find that the compatibility is increased substantially.
Currently there aren't any programs that allow you to dump your save from a retail HG/SS cartridge (programs that you would put on a Slot-2, GBA flash cartridge). The only known way is through a USB adapter called the NDS Backup Adapter Plus which backups your save file from your cartridge onto your computer; you can then swap save files back and forth. If you are looking into buying the adapter mentioned make sure it is the Plus edition as it's previous version doesn't support HG/SS for save dumps.
Can Pokemon Heartgold/SoulSilver, Pearl/Diamond/Platinum be unable to save like the originals?
I just recently got back into the Pokemon video game series. I had two friends who were playing the remakes of Gold/Silver and told me I would like them. I've been playing since HG/SS came out and just recently bought Black. They're pretty fun, but I do worry about my save files. I know the original games ran on an internal battery which allowed them to be saved, but that battery was also running 24/7. I have gold and red from the original gameboy and neither of them can save anymore. I heard this can also happen with ruby/sapphire/emerald. But what about the DS games? I've caught quite a few in the games and am worried that if I leave the cartridge alone for a few years, I could come back and they can't save anymore. Does the DS use a different save feature as opposed to an internal battery or is there still a risk that the battery will run out and I will have lost my save file?
How to delete a saved file on pokemon soulsilver?
Enter up, select, b when you see lugia swimming. You'll see this warning sign so just select yes. Then it will take a while to delete the saved game. Then you'll see new game on the top C:
Pokémon Soul silver - Deleting old save data?
So. I have pokémon Soul Silver, and I'd like to delete my save file. I tried Up, Select, B, but that didn't work, I did it in the screen where the Pokémon is swimming. After that I tried other combinations, such as ABXY + Start select, and RL Start select. Nothing worked. What is goingwrong? Thanks. I can not start a new game. It tells me it's impossible to save because there is already a savefile. Not kidding.
Does Pokémon SoulSilver save to the DS or the cartridge?
It saves to the card. The only reason why you'd want to use the same DS is for your Friend Code to stay the same. If you aren't going to be using the Wi-Fi during your vacation, then don't worry about it and pick up the cheap DS.
I can't get my R4 card to load my pokemon heartgold save?
I have been playing heartgold on DeSmuME, which uses .dsv files for its saves. DeSmuME also has the ability to export as a .sav file, both for no$gba and raw formats. Using no$zoomer, I am able to export the .dsv file to a .sav (no$gba) and play it. However, I cannot for the life of me get any sort of .sav to play on my ds using my R4DS card. I even tried using the shunyweb save converter from both the raw .sav and the no$gba .sav to every single .sav type they have as the target format, and none of them seem to work! The ds recognizes the save (correct number of badges, pokedex, etc.), but when I click on it, the screen just goes black. It is able to load its own save files (like from starting a new game and saving it on the R4) just fine. Any ideas?
Pokemon Heart Gold won't save?
I have Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver on my R4 and SoulSilver works perfectly - it saves, deletes if it has to and won't freeze. But my HeartGold games won't save! Everytime I click the save button, it says that it's saving and I shoudln't turn off the power, and then that it has saved the game. But if I start the game, it keeps saying that I have no saved file (so I have to start all over again as if it's a New Game). Please tell me how to fix it
What is the best DS emulator to play Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver?
The legal wayBuy a nintento 2ds or ds or 3ds. Buy the games and enjoy. If you are on the budget its better to buy 2ds than a ds as in 2ds you could play all the 3ds games and it only costs $70. You could also play some 3d pokemon games on that. The illegal way ( do it on your own risk )If you want to play in pc or laptop then Desume is the best as it has the best feature , no bios needed and you can upscale games upto 4k.If you want to play in you android phone don't know about iphone , Drastic is the best emulator though it is paid but it will give you the playable framerate as compared to other free ds emulators on the play store. For roms and emulator , emuparadise is the best site , just google it.
How to delete heart gold save on emulator?
Are you using DeSmuME? If so, navigate to whatever folder you put it in. There should be 4 other folders: Battery Cheats Roms States Now. a) If you used Shift+F1 or some other number to save, you are using SAVESTATES. To delete your save, go to the 'States' folder and delete your save there. The save's name will be the EXACT same name as your Rom's name. b) If you used the in-game menu to save (Press X, Click 'Save'), you are using SAVEFILES. To delete them go to the 'Battery' folder and delete your save there. As with savestates, your save name will be the exact same as your rom's name. E.G. If your Rom name is 'Pokemon Heartgold', then a SAVESTATE file would be Pokemon Heartgold.ds1, while a SAVEFILE file would be Pokemon Heartgold.dsv If you are using a different type of emulator, sadly I can't help you there.
Pokemon White is an RPG that was developed by Game Freak for Nintendo DS in 2010. This is also a part of the 5th generation Pokemon Game series and takes place in a new region named Unova. In this game version, the trainer makes their journey in the new region where there are lots of new Pokemon. The main goal of the game is to become the Pokemon Master.
The game starts in the Nuvema Town where the trainer received three Pokemon from Professor Juniper. You start the trainer journey with friends Bianca and Cheren. You have to capture and train Pokemon to become the Pokemon Master. And at the same time, you will have to defeat Team Plasma to save other Pokemon and trainers.

Ms office word for mac free download. ROM (Read-only memory) is a non-volatile memory, used to store data that cannot be altered after the manufacture of the memory device. This type of memory is perfect for storing software that gets barely changed in the life of a system. Software applications such as video games are shared in the form of plug-in cartridges that contain the read-only memory.
Although one cannot alter the data on a ROM, one can still copy the data from the read-only memory and save it in a storage device such as a hard disk. This is known as ROM emulation which is quite commonly used by gamers. The gamers use a ROM emulator to play the old games on a new computer system. This way, they can keep the old video games alive.
To play Pokemon White ROM on your devices, you need a Nintendo DS (NDS) emulator downloaded and installed on your chosen device. Thankfully, there are many NDS emulators available for Windows, Mac, Linus, Android, etc. For Windows, you can choose DeSmuME 0.9.11 or iDeaS 1.0.4.0. For Linux, you can use iDeaS 1.0.3.8 and for Mac, you can opt OpenEmu 2.0.6.1.
If you liked playing Pokemon White ROM on your PC or mobile phone, then you would like a few other similar game titles as well.

Pokemon Ruby is set in Hoenn and features Generation III Pokemon. You meet 150 new Pokemon in the game series. In this game, the story focuses on Team Magma and the legendary fire-type Pokemon Groudon and you have the option of using a double battle mechanic to fight a 2 on 2 Pokemon matches.
Pokemon Leaf Green is an advanced version of the Pokemon Green version. In this game, there are a lot of new features and mini-games to make it more interesting. In this game, you battle Team Rocket while training the grass-type and nature-type Pokemon to become their best version.

In the Pokemon SoulSilver version, you get a chance to become the best Pokemon trainer in the regions of Kanto and Johto. ((unrelated to FE so feel free to skip but for those interested here is my opinion on pokemon games/regions, very quickly, and by very quickly I mean it got a bit longer than I intended, so:))
Kanto: Classic, good, much love, the classic 150, know most of the pokemon, overall as a region not the most interesting but it doesn’t have to be, a little overdone game-wise but you know idc
Johto: First region I ever played through, Crystal was my jam, I have SS and HG (the latter because somebody lost theirs and my brother-in-law found it so, y’know, score) cyndaquil is the best fire starter, fight me
Hoenn: this region is my jam, okay, it introduced some of my favorite pokemon and some of my favorite things about the series. Emerald is my favorite out of all the pokemon games. the remakes are just okay. treecko was my first starter I leveled to 100. I love Hoenn. Jirachi is adorable as hell
Sinnoh: some of my favorite pokemon, least memorable region to me. people call for Sinnoh remakes, and I just hope that if that happens I’ll be able to actually like Sinnoh beyond the pokemon. I don’t remember any characters beyond Cynthia despite playing through all of Diamond. I don’t remember any locations except where Giratina was and... there were lakes i think? they were important to the plot?
Unova: interesting region, imo. some of the pokemon were great, others eh. I think B/W was the first time I really got into a plot and loved a character so much? (N, if it wasn’t obvious, but also oh my goodness I love some of the gym leaders, and Cheren and Bianca so much, I haven’t played through much of BW2 but when I saw Bianca I cried)
Kalos: pokeparis is aesthetically pleasing but the overall plot and enemy team were just eh. character customization is great but fuck those ladies who say I wasn’t stylish enough to enter their damn store. RIP Sycamore’s title of hottest professor alive. first fire starter I have loved dearly with all my heart. first shiny I ever hatched was in this game. I have good memories of this game and still play it sometimes. also even though the overall plot was eh the post-game is the bomb. Looker and his daughter are cute af 100/10
Alola: so pokemon-wise some of them were good but I feel like there was too much of a focus on gen 1 pokemon just different versions. honestly in general I feel like there was too much Kanto focus, but not enough that it ruined anything for me. I loved all the characters in this game, and the plot was really well done, I got very invested moreso than ever before. Professor Kukui is a gem. my main issue with the game (Moon, for reference) was its ridiculous multiplayer function, which made it difficult to play with friends compared to the ease of the last two games.
Mimikyu best ghost ever tbh
explorers of time is the best pokemon game btw

It’s damn near 4am and but I’m getting so emotional during the middle of my Popplio hunt getting hype about the D/P/Pt remakes in the next year or so.
Gen 4 came out when I was having a really hard time in my life. I was stuck in summer school in a different city and basically wasted a whole summer starving myself and being depressed because I was bad at math and was struggling with the class I was taking. My mom made me so anxious I hid out in my room most of the time, and had begun collecting Pokemon toys as well as playing through Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. I hopped between the two games, exploring the Sinnoh region as an escape from my issues. It helped a lot.
When HG/SS came out, I ended up doing my first pre-order of any Pokemon game along side my best friend. We played the shit out of those games, and I will never feel as spoiled as I was when I could take Pokemon on my own team with me to class on the Pokewalker.
Then right before Platinum came out, my game file on Diamond corrupted and I lost all my Pokemon that were on those games. It broke my heart, and still does a bit. Some of them were Pokemon I had from my original FireRed game...
So when Plat came out, I was DETERMINED to make up for my lost team. I worked incredibly hard building a team that I could be proud of, and ran though that game with such an intense drive and passion. I was so in love with the game, the added lore, the fact that I felt like I got a fresh start after my Diamond version crashed, AND the fact I could trade them over cross platform to my Pokewalker and bond with that team even more. To this day Terra (Torterra), Sphynx (Luxray), Star (Staraptor), Coal (Houndoom), Titan (Glaceon), and Duke (Lucario), are still by far the Pokemon team I’m THE most attached to, and I just can’t wait to bring them back to the Sinnoh region again after a decade of keeping up with them. I can’t wait to start a new fresh team, and explore the region again. I can’t wait to see the new graphics and music. I can’t wait for my best friend and I to stay up all night waiting for the game to release and play through the region that made us best friends.
tl;dr I can’t wait to be welcomed back to the Sinnoh region

For me I've loved most after the original gen 3, as I started with Diamond!
I have no opinion on Galar, so I'm skipping if that's alright?- no Switch...
(The Spin off's are amazing though! The Explorers games and Rumble Blast are my favorites- EOS being top!)
This is just for the main games from me, Spin offs, Anime, and movies have their own rankings!
My answers under the cut because its kinda long! 😅
1. HG/SS Jhoto- Beautiful remake- sound and design wise, mon's follow you, Umbreon's home region who is hands down one of my, if not my favorite mon!
2. Both Unovas- Snivy and Oshawott are so cute! Back then I had long hair, no glasses, I have blue eyes and always had a baseball cap on, so I highly identified with White/Hilda/Touko! (can you tell she's my favorite?!😝)
I was also happy to have a region based off the at the time good old USA!
You can't tell me Castelia city isn't New York City!
Moving sprites!!!
I adore that scene where a certain group was about to go ham on your character, but another group comes to the rescue!
Just the little thing of White backing up while these people approach, and then bam!
A playable character actually showing emotion, you rarely see any emotion, but I could tell she was spooked!
Operation rescue White go! 😁
I dressed up as Rosa/Mei back in High school for a school spirit day literally the day before Black 2 and White 2 came out!
In B2 and W2 you can catch friggin Latias- another big favorite!
My Arceus/Windsinger, the music, especially in B2/W2's gyms and Driftveil city in both games!
Reshiram and Zekrom are awesome!
Victini is so friggin cute- and their music/the Swords of Justice's theme rocks!
The shiny Beast trio event that let's you obtain a Zorua is a nice touch!
(Especially when there's a girl reading to a camouflaged Zorua and remarking about how cute Zorua are and him blushing!)
(Though I have Scopophobia- fear of eyes, and the X-tranceiver unnerved me more than a hoard of Joltik!)
3. Sinnoh- My first ever region! It will always hold a special place in my heart! One of my best friends from Middle school introduced me to Diamond and Pearl and got me hooked! (2008/9ish! Sadly we lost contact when she moved...)
Is Dialga cool or what?! 😁
Big....Dino...Dragon!
My kid self loved just spamming Dragon Pulse in the Elite 4/Cynthia battle!
I didn't much enjoy the battle park save for the music!
A wild Looker has appeared! 😁
One of the first mons you can catch is a Shinx, they're so friggin cute!!!
I recently replayed Diamond and had a female named Mila almost the entire time!
Haven't beaten the Elite 4 yet- prolly cause' I don't have Dialga on my team! 😆
The underground was cool!
The Wi-fi plaza was interesting! Didn't get Wi-fi until later but it was enough time before Nintendo shut off services to do some stuff!
4. Kalos- CUSTOM TRAINERS!!! This was great! I could make Serena look however I wanted!
The music and story, just chef's kiss!
Especially the endgame stuff with Looker!
Arceus seeing him in 3d years after Platinum came on the scene, it was surreal!
"Hey! I know that guy! It's Looker!"
The gyms layouts were pretty snazzy!
(Pfft, IRL I would just take the elevator up to Grant lol! 😅 I'm no rock climber!)
Battling an IRL friend after school in High school at a club and standing a decent chance! (I get absolutely bodied if and when I go online for battles, so I just stick to trading lol! 😅)
Xerneas is one majestic deer!
(Had a loooot of trouble trying to say their names at first, but I think I have a grasp on that now!)
5. ORAS Hoenn- 3d May, and she had full emotional range!
Again, music, very good music!
A lot of music on my phone is actually from ORAS!
The going to fight Kyogre/Groudon dialogue was very moving and has a trope I like I believe!
Let's just let that kid who beat us stroll in there and catch that Primal, she's the only one who can do it!
The suits to protect May from the elements looked sooo good!
The Delta Episode was a nice touch!
Exploring the Abandoned ship while being able to fully see the mon you're riding on was ridiculously cool!
(Especially since cheating with Powersaves was running rampant at this time and people was just handing out shiny Kyogres/Groudons and Rayquaza's left and right- with their orbs might I add, permitting you were on ORAS and not X and Y.
I admit I was one of them, I really only hacked for shinies though!)
6. Alola (Though you could say Kalos, ORAS and Alola are on par with each other, and higher on my list as well!)
Trainer customisation again! Litten and Popplio- finally a kitty starter- and one with attitude may I add! 😁
The Trials were an interesting change!
Riding on Stoutland was my favorite thing!
Just imagine the kid who's about to save the day, or the kid you're waiting for, or the Alolan champion just running by on a Stoutland- not sniffing for items.
(Yea, I did search for items at some point, but I liked running by/to important characters while on a Stoutland!
"Wait!
Was that?
Yup?
What is she doing?
Hey Moon!
We're over here!*😆
I liked imagining their faces with stuff like that! Bet dismounting your big fluffy dog was awe inspiring as well!
(I liked the specific music for Stoutland the best!)
You fly by things on a Stoutland, that must be fun- even with motion sickness!
Giant space lion/giant space bat whose music was top notch!
Actually the music just before you get to the alter is fantastic, I'm glad it's a long route!
The stuff with the UB's in Ultra Sun was fun too! I just sadly never got the hang of the Ultra Wormholes....My reaction time is not the best...I barely made it through the part where you NEEDED to go in there for story stuff!
Heard Ultra Wormholes are where you get exclusive UB's and can catch shinies easier!
7. Kanto- I don't hate it in the slightest despit it being on the bottom of the list! A lot of my favorites are actually Kantonian!
Bulbasaur, Eevee, Vulpix, Growlithe etc...!
I don't really have a bond with Kanto as much as the others as I haven't gotten to fully play Fire red, Leaf green, and was Blue real?
I remember someone saying that Blue was in place of Green for North America because Christmas colors 🤷♀️
I DID grab a Leaf Green emulator for my phone recently though!
Boy are the newer games spoiling you!
Running shoes immediately, easy access to a Pichu or Pikachu, among other things!
I just haven't touched it in a bit...NOTN ya know! 😁
(And my phone vibrates when I tap something and I can't figure out how to turn it off....)
I had a Fire red from 2008/9, but my DS wasn't working...I think I was never able to get past Snorlax because I didn't know how!
But after seeing Kalos dealing with it, as well as a fan comic for Leaf Green I think I know how to finally proceed!
I know you didn't ask, but there's my current fave regions/gens for the mainline Pokémon games!
Hmm what are ur fave pokemon games like, in order?
I’m gonna think on that

Writers for video Game fandoms, do you see the views on your fanfiction rise, when a sequel/remake/remaster/spinoff is announced?
With E3 coming and going I think it's safe to say that at least some of us got a little bit excited. I wonder, though, if the announcement of Dying Light 2, or Devil May Cry 5, or the new command and conquer (ouch), made it so that those of us who have fandoms in that area got a boost.
For instance, with the release of the promsied kickstarter game, and prequel to Bloodstained, Curse of the moon, some of my friends who were early writers, announced they got a tremendous boost.
I mostly write for Pokemon nowadays, and I mostly write hoenn along with a great friend, and maybe it was the remakes, but hoenn became very popular shortly after those were released, while Johto enjoys a steady popularity but it hasn't seen any spikes since hg/ss.
All of which makes me think that it's new fans pouring in, or hearing about something, or playing it that makes them check the fandom.
(And I know popularity and views don't equal quality content, but I'm sure we all give the very best we have, putting sweat and tears into perfecting it)

i've been wanting to play the pokemon games but there are so many and i don't know where to start. do i have to start from the first ones? if not, then where should i start/what order should i play them in?
you don’t have to start with the first games. each game is its own self-contained story set in the same universe, so you dont need the context of the previous games and the tutorials in the beginning always go by the assumption you’ve never played a pokemon game before. there are typically some references to previous games made by nameless npcs, but it’s never anything major and if you really wanted to understand them i think it would just take a quick google search to get the full context, you wouldn’t have to go back and play an entire game or anything.
there’s not really a suggested order to play them in, but i definitely don’t mind making recommendations. ive played through all these games several times, and with the exception of firered/leafgreen, diamond/pearl/platinum, and heartgold/soulsilver i’ve played through them within the past 2 years. so my memory is relatively fresh.
first of all, i’m not going to recommend you anything that’s had a remake. i love the classic games and i feel like they were a wonderful starting point for a fantastic series, but theyre not a great starting point. i play them for the nostalgia because i grew up playing pokemon since the first generation, my wife didn’t really play pokemon until the fourth generation and only enjoys the classic games because she already loves pokemon. compared to newer games, theyre just not that fun if you don’t already have a lot of nostalgia/love of pokemon in general.
also a quick note about which versions you should pick--it honestly doesn’t matter. they’re the same game, but there’s a small handful of pokemon that’ll appear in one version and not the other. sometimes i choose by which pokemon on the box art i like best and sometimes i choose by going to serebii and looking at the version exclusives list. its really up to you and your preferences, and it doesn’t matter that much either way
Sun and Moon/Ultra Sun and Ultra Moonthese are definitely the ones i’d suggest starting with, they’re the most beginner-friendly by far. there’s a new feature that tells you if your opponent is weak or resistant to your moves if it’s a pokemon you’ve fought before, which is great because now you don’t have to mentally keep track of the type matchup chart and the individual types of 800+ pokemon! your pokedex also shows you if a pokemon is part of a pair or has evolutions, so you won’t make mistakes i made when i was a kid where i assumed some of my pokemon didn’t have evolutions and didn’t train them and missed out on some cool pokemon as a result. story-wise, they’re my favorite so far and have done the best job of fleshing out and developing their characters.
as for whether you should play sun/moon or ultra sun/ultra moon, i’m not sure. the ultra versions have a few new pokemon, new areas, new moves, and an “enhanced” story, which is basically the same as the old story but deeper this time (and while i haven’t finished it, i’m enjoying it a lot). but the “new” things aren’t that many and i think whats giving me so much appreciation of the ultra story is the fact that ive already played through sun/moon, but that might just be me. it’s probably better to go with the ultra version because it has much more content for about the same price, but original sun/moon are still good choices if you have your heart set on those.
Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphiretheyre remakes of the third generation games ruby/sapphire and imo they lived up to the hype. ruby/sapphire were fan favorites and so are or/as. they aren’t really difficult because the games that came out right before this introduced an item that lets your entire party gain exp from a battle even if they didn’t participate, and while or/as are more balanced for this item than the game that introduced it, they still arent quite all the way there. personally i don’t mind it, i think these games are enjoyable regardless of if they’re challenging or not, but you’re free to turn the item on/off as you want to make it as easy or as difficult as you want.
X/Yhoo boy. i actually don’t like x/y. they had bad pacing, the story barely held itself together, and this is the game where the exp share was introduced and if you never turn it off, your pokemon get way overlevel and you can effortlessly breeze through the game. but they’re pretty, and i think the fact that theyre ridiculously easy might make them more enjoyable for new players because it’s the perfect chance to just build a team of pokemon you like instead of worrying about strength or team composition. plus, this is the first game to have character customization and you get enough money through the course of the game that buying all the clothes is easy.
Black/White and Black 2/White 2black and white are by far my favorite pokemon games, and black 2 and white 2 are the only direct sequels to a previous game so you should probably wait until after playing b/w to worry about b2/w2. i really enjoyed the story and this was the first time i actually got heavily invested in the characters because until this point, most characters in pokemon games felt pretty flat and one-dimensional. the one complaint i have is how exp scales based on your level. the concept itself is fine, but it feels like the scaling is extreme and there’s a lot of exp you start to lose just by going up a single level, which makes grinding a massive pain. but grinding isnt really required, so it’s nothing to worry about unless you’re determined to be overlevel.
HeartGold/SoulSilverremakes of the second generation games gold/silver and another huge favorite of mine, but arguably also a direct sequel to red/blue. they don’t lean heavily on red/blue but when they were initially designed they were called pokemon 2 and were intended to be the last games, so unlike other games it begins with the assumption you’ve already played the previous game. but the tutorials are still available and neither gold/silver nor red/blue are very story-heavy in the first place, because this is when the series was still finding its footing. i think theyre perfectly fine to play through with no context, but i can understand if you’d prefer to skip them for now. i very much enjoyed having my pokemon walk around with me all the time, the environments are beautiful, and hg/ss has the most useful use of the DS’s bottom screen.
Diamond/Pearl/Platinumok i know i listed diamond/pearl but that’s just because they deserve a mention. platinum is the enhanced version, and unless you see a pokemon thats exclusive to diamond/pearl and you REALLY want it, you should play platinum. that being said, i don’t actually like these games that much. they made improvements to the gameplay that have stayed through the current generations and provided deep lore about the pokemon universe and had a killer ost and a fun underground mining mini game, but outside of those the game always felt really lackluster to me and even as a kid i had a hard time getting invested in it. i think it was level design and difficulty curve that put me off so much but since i havent played them in so long i can’t say that for sure. overall, i’d say they’re worth playing at least for the lore because it’s very good and very important, but probably only if you already like pokemon. theyre not great first games.
FireRed/LeafGreeni’m only listing these because they’re currently the most updated way to play the first generation (red/blue) but they’re older than anything else on this list. stat calculations are different. movesets are different. and both of those are a bad different, not good or even neutral. they did a good job of providing extra tutorials, but overall theyre just completely outdated and suffering from red/blue’s bad layout and level design. i’m hoping these are the next games we get remakes of (remake of a remake sounds ridiculous, but these games are seriously getting close to 15 years old) but until then i’d really only suggest playing them if you already love pokemon and just want to see older games in the series.
#pokemon#long post#my list is basically most recently released to oldest#and im ok with that#because pokemon has only improved over time#Anonymous

...All I've Got To Do Is Believe! (I Believe!)
The Gen2 remakes are rather expensive to get old of second hand, and one of the reasons for that is the extra bit of kit they came bundled with. In much the same way as the GBA wireless adaptors were packed with the Kanto remakes in Gen3, the Johto remakes included a device called the Pokéwalker. This is essentially a pedometer and seems to link in nicely with the in-game return/expansion/overhaul of the Walking Pokémon/Pokémon following you feature. As well as being a functioning pedometer - one of the best and most accurate available at the time according to this study - the Pokéwalker also has a couple of cool features in the way it interacts with the games themselves.
One such feature is that it lets you take a selected pokémon out for a walk with you! A pokémon - seemingly any pokémon, as I can’t find a list of restrictions anywhere - can be transferred from your HG/SS game into the Pokéwalker and it will gain both Friendship and Experience depending on how many steps you take. As you walk around with you pokémon, if you happen to walk near anyone else with a Pokéwalker, you will get an item. Now admittedly this isn’t very likely in 2020, but it’s still a pretty cool feature nonetheless! As you walk, you also gain the currency of Watts - earning 1 Watt for every 20 steps that you take. These can then be used for the two other main features of the Pokéwalker; the Poké Radar and the Dowsing Machine.
The Poké Radar is used when going on a Stroll through one of the available Routes such as the Refreshing Field, Blue Lake, Volcano Path, Amity Meadow, or many others. These Routes are either available right from the off or can be unlocked with a certain number of steps, by performing certain trades on the GTS, or through various Nintendo WFC events. As you Stroll, you can spend 10 Watts to activate the Poké Radar. This will enable you to encounter a wild pokémon which - if you battle and capture it - can be transferred back into HeartGold or SoulSilver. There is a surprisingly large amount of pokémon that can be caught this way and which ones are available depend on the Route, the number of steps, and which pokémon you have walking with you. OK, the battle screen is a little basic, but what do you expect from a pedometer? All in all, I think this is a very cool way to catch certain pokémon! The Dowsing Machine is basically the equivalent, but for the chance of finding items. Much less exciting, but it does only cost 3 Watts for 2 attempts.
Sadly, I didn’t get a Pokéwalker when I purchased my second-hand copies of HeartGold and SoulSilver as they are kinda expensive and none of the pokémon that you can catch on it are exclusively found there. However I would like to think that one day I will come back to these games once I have gotten hold of one and try it all out for myself. One in-game walking-related quest I can enjoy however, is completed by talking to Cameron the Photographer.
Cameron is an NPC who pops up all over both the Johto and Kanto regions and when you talk to him, he offers to take your picture. You then assemble your team and get a snapshot of you all in front of some landmark or other. These pictures are then stored in a photo album on the storage PC for you to look back over and see how you team may have changed or evolved. There are also special pictures that you can seek out with other important NPCs such as Gym Leaders or Professor Oak himself. There are even two pictures you can take without Cameron; a selfie outside Cameron’s house in Cianwood City, and a picture in your Team Rocket uniform for when you are infiltrating Goldenrod Radio Tower. None of this actually achieves anything meaningful in the game, but it is a fun little fetch quest on what will be my last jaunt through either Johto or Kanto for a quite a while! Let’s kick off my Pokémon SoulSilver adventure!
