I know I have a gazillion WIP's but this idea has been SO persistent... Victorian laundress!reader, working in the big (old, haunted) estate of John Price (whom you has a crush on hehe)
Who takes in a former apprentice, Simon Riley, back from "the war" (not based in any history here lol), who is very badly adjusted and behaves very inappropriately... and maybe the clothes you're washing turn up with blood and dirt now... hmm
Anyway some potential for scaries and mystery here
#drgnfly notes#like imagine ur soooo disturbed by simon u go to price's office#and hes in there and its all candlelight while hes doing idk what lol#and you tearfully tell him about simons behaviour#and he pressures you into sipping his drink to “relax”#idk maybe u sit on his lap....#maybe he tells u simon saw so many horrors go easy on him :((( ignore it if he flips your skirt again or corners you in the laundry room#hm#or if you see him out at night... dragging something...#just keep your pretty mouth shut mkay :)

Things i loved about season 4
- The Nun scene. Honestly the sheer level of galaxy brain Ludo Besse has when writting these seasons lol. It was a very clever pararell to have the nun mistake Sana for another Sister, in a country as catholic as Italy, its al simple way of putting the hijab into perspective, no one sees a nun and thinks the same things they do when they see a muslim girl wearing a veil, even when they are essentially pretty similar: an expression of their religion. I really liked it (and the conversation under the candlelight just felt a whole other level of intimate so thats a plus)
- The Luai storyline. Man i loved this bit of the season, can we talk about the scene where Nico and Luai see each other at the club? The song choice? The shots? GOLDEN. I like that there are no real villains in this story (except for Luai's parents) what happened between them wasnt the result of someone in the baloon squad being homophobic, they were both victims of the circumstances and i love that Luai currently has a boyfriend, i've never been happier for a side character in my life.
- Sana. I enjoyed Sana a lot, she is sweet, she is akward, is a different take on her character and i liked it very much. What i loved the most was that the side plots from the og are still mostly there but this time they are constructed so they still revolve around Sana and her struggles. After the fight with Marti and the Rose Squad when she stays there alone with blood on her hand and both of her worlds (the contrabandieri and the Rose Squad) just walk away from her and she is just crying...that hit me hard (kudos to Bea, her acting was also very good), it made the scene more about her and what it meant for her than about the external drama, and then she justs keeps getting hit when she hears the UFB talking about her and finally Eva and Malik kissing... i could feel the weight of everything that had happened that night just falling on her shoulders and my heart shrank...her character was so well constructed im glad she got such a great season.
- The Rose Squad. I loved them, three out of four of them have clear characterization and it just placed them really high on my list...Ludo managed to make me care about Luai who has a total of like, 5 lines so i think its safe to say they are very well written and very well used.
-Filippo. At this point Filo is the father of half of that school i swear, it laughed so much with his scenes, from drunk Rami to Martino being a mess and just giving up on life in Filo's bedroom, also the fan service with Elia, i would've enjoyed it more had they not implaid that Elia was going to date Emma there at the end. (We stan safe sex kids)
- Episode 8. Was such a beautiful episode to watch, Martino and Sana are one of my favorite Isak-Sana dynamics after Amira and Cris, i loved their conversation cause it was more about understanding each other, Sana was right about some things and Martino was right about others, it was nice to see her finally open up to someone after just botteling up her emotions for the entire season, it was really sweet. Her message to the girls was heartbreaking, i legit cried and had to rewind the video cause my vision kept getting blurry and i kept missing parts of her speech, again Bea's acting really helped here, episode 8 was Sana not only opening up to her friends, but to us as the audience, that even after 7 episodes on her POV, still didnt understand her actions very well, it was a nice way of complementing the new perspectice her convo with Marti had given us, i loved it. (Also hide and seek to reunite Niccotino? I love Ludo Besse)
- The girl squad. I always thought Eva was very underapreciated (which is why i adore Skam España for giving her more to do after her season), i dont know why, but since the first time i saw norweiang Eva's season she stayed in my heart, and this version of Eva is one i love as well, i enjoyed her character and honestly her last scene with Gio? GOLD, her letter? One of the best things to come out of the Skam universe, i want to thank Ludo for handling her with such love. Silvia i really liked, her clip really puts things into perspective and i love that they kept her cat as an actual consistent plot device, she's had a nice character development, from wanting desperately to be noticed by the school coolest boy, to simply not caring about boys to finally opening up to someone, truly letting them in and accept herself, no only her body, but who she was. Finally Fede... the backstory of why she spoke to Sana was something i really appreciated, as well as the fact of her being so ashamed of what she he had done, i like that story because it shows how people can change once their prejudice is deconstructed, specially at that age we are the product of the education we were given, things like homophobia, sexism or xenophobia althought still not acceptable for a teenager, dont mean that they can't be redeemed, that their world view can't change in the future and that they can't grow. It was nice, you may have been an asshole in the past but as long as you understand what you did wrong and geniunly apologize, there is no reason for us to think someone cannot be redeemed.
- Every. Malik. And. Sana. Scene. Was so amazingly shot and constructed that even when i understood 30% of the dialogue the first time i watched it without subtitles i was smiling like an idiot, the date scene, those last few seconds? Them just staring into each others eyes? No kiss scene would've made us feel what that made us feel and that is a testament not only to good acting, but to the amazing direction of Ludo Besse.
- Ludovico Bessegato. This man has so much love for this project it shows on the end result, Skam Italia is pretry similar to the og in terms of plot, but Ludo made it stand out with his characters, his cinematography and some minor changes. The result is a story most of us already knew and loved with characters that some of us might love more than the originals in a setting that for me personally is more relatable than the norweiang one and has earned a place in my heart. I still can't believe he alone had to manage social media for the first seasons and had to fight with Timvision to get the show done, im so happy his work, and the work of all the other people who poured their hearts into this project (including the actors) got rewarded in such a way.
- The final speech. I understood very little of it while watching the first time, but that didnt stop me from crying like a baby while Gio read the letter, i found i cared for every person on that screen, from all of them i had good memories on the show and i couldn't believe that a fictional story could make such an impact in me, specially since this is the second time i see it, i'm probably way to biased with this show and the truth is idk why,i couldn't pin point the things that make me love it the way i do, i just do, and i am very satisfied with this ending, if this is the end.

Isis and Osiris 💕🦂(ft. EreMika)
Another lovely reader suggested I do a piece involving mythology of some kind! I've always been really into Egyptian Mythology (Ancient Egypt anything though so so fascinating) Anyway, I was super quick to decide on these two. What I did was write my interpretation of The Osiris Myth with their names in it instead. A few facts that are necessary to know before you continue: the original gods of ancient Egypt were Osiris, Isis, Set, Horus, and Nephthys. The myth is basically Set tricks Osiris to his demise, Isis revives Osiris, etc. ancient.eu is a great website, I recommend if you're interested in learning more! Greek Mythology is amazing too, don't get me wrong, just, idk, enjoy the story. Keep requesting and thank you for the lovely comments💕
ps: I LOVE Jean, lol, so this was hard! But he and Eren always fucking fight so.
pps: dedicated to anyone who catches the Supernatural references ;)
Cast:
Eren - Osiris
Mikasa - Isis
Jean - Set
Hitch - Nephthys
"All seems to be going well." Mikasa smiles as she comes up behind her loving husband while he sits in a chair on the balcony overlooking their flourishing kingdom. The sun is low as it rests on the horizon and reflects its dazzling rays across the mighty Nile River. Egyptian citizens stand in the shallows with pails gathering fresh, clean water for drinking and cooking. "Humanity has a perfect, stable climate to thrive in and resources are always bountiful." She slowly moves her hand down the front of his exposed muscular chest that's still deliciously lean. As gods they have their duties and obligations, all of which lie with maintaining that perfect climate and the plentifulness of resources. Everything has been a paradise since the power couple were crowned as King and Queen of Egypt because they take their roles so seriously. It's undeniably their purpose.
"We must maintain this, my queen," Eren relaxes back in his seat from her touch and sighs with content. "They're counting on us to watch over and keep them safe."
"And we will." She assures as gracefully walks around the chair to sit in her husband's lap and rests her cheek on his shoulder. He wraps an arm around her back and reaches up to carefully play with her soft black hair. "Nothing is more important than maintaining this order so there remains no injustices and everyone stays equal."
"That is why we rule together," He chuckles softly into her hair and kisses the top of her head. "We have the same goals when it comes to caring for our people."
"Must we go to that party this evening? I think I'd rather stay here.." Her finger traces small patterns on his chest and he smiles, amused at the way she's speaking so innocently.
"Unfortunately, yes. Jean mentioned he had something important to show me, though I would much rather be in bed with you. Maybe we can leave right afterwards and return to messy up the clean sheets?"
"I would love that." Mikasa lifts her head to look into dazzling emeralds and places her hand on his cheek, then bumps their foreheads together gently.
"Oh, how I love you."
"And I you.." She smiles and presses her lips to his to share a deep, loving smooch that's slow and tender. Tongues collide between kisses as her fingers slide up into his hair and he rests his arm over her legs, allowing his hand to slowly wander on soft skin not covered with the skirt of her dress. Words cannot describe how much the couple crave each other, they've never been able to keep their hands to themselves when they're together, but there's quite a time constraint because of the large dinner party they have invitations to this evening. It's not as if they don't have practice stowing their sexual tension on the back burner to make something more important their first priority, whatever that may be. In this case it's a celebration being thrown by Jean, who wouldn't normally bother to invite the one guy he despises more than anything. But the envy in his heart is real and it's all because of his brother's undeniable success - humanity is thriving under Eren's powerful rule as a just, generous, and giving god of life, so the decision to take him out was an easy one. Especially after his wife later became pregnant with a baby that wasn't of his seed, though he still isn't aware that Eren had been tricked into this with a cruel spell that made her appear to be Mikasa. It wouldn't matter if he did know anyhow since his brother is dead to him now and all he wants is revenge.
Perhaps that's why Jean went to all the trouble of having a coffin constructed with his brother's exact height. He plans to do the unthinkable and kill his own flesh and blood because if anyone is going to be Lord of Life, it's going to be him, certainly not Eren. "And so anyone who can fit in this beautiful coffin shall receive it free as a gift." Jean gestures to the box made from stone, the thin gold sheets that were beautifully pressed into it reflect the glimmer from candlelight. The necessary symbols have already been painted on its entirety so his brother's soul has the directions it needs to navigate the afterlife. Many party guests lined up to participate including the one this coffin is intended for and his wife, who cuddles into him drunkenly while he keeps a protective arm around her shoulders. She smiles and rests her cheek on his bicep while he speaks with other attendees, both of them blissfully unaware of the events that are soon to take place. And just as anticipated, Mikasa very quickly became the one most horrified when the coffin's lid was slammed shut and fastened so tightly, that its a guarantee his victim won't be able to escape.
"Jean! What in the name of all creation are you doing?!" Mikasa cries as she grabs onto him desperately and uses all of her strength to throw him off, hoping that if the coffin was dropped that perhaps it would crack open. "Have you lost your mind?! That's my husband! Release him immediately!" But a few of Jean's friends were waiting on the sidelines for his cue to restrain her, something that wasn't an easy task by any means because she insists on throwing herself around, kicking, screaming, and crying hysterically. It was necessary for him to get the coffin outside, however, and she did manage to get away long enough to reach the outside of the palace. She watches with blurry eyes, screaming for her husband as the coffin is cruelly tossed into The Nile River to be carried out to sea, where it was eventually lodged in a mighty tamarisk tree in Bybalos that grew to consume it rather quickly.
The King and Queen of Bybalos walk together along the beach shoreline. They were drawn here during their daily stroll by a sweet scent emanating from the tamarisk tree and ordered it to be cut down and made into a ornamental pillar for the palace. Unbeknownst to the royal family, a goddess mourns terribly over her husband's death and, after following the river, she has found her way to Bybalos. She's already in a new form in order to disguise her true identity - an elderly woman who wails in grief over her missing love. His body is somewhere nearby, she can feel it, and her heart calls to him whether he's alive or not. Little did she know, there were a few young women standing nearby watching her with sad eyes. "Excuse me, madam?" One says sweetly, and Mikasa immediately turns to see the two of them wearing looks of true concern. They are clearly handmaidens from their attire. "Are you alright?"
"Have you a home to live in?" The other asks.
"Oh, I-I don't want to be a burden.."
"Nonsense! We insist!" And so The Queen of the Throne, disguised as a normal, elderly woman, was kindly taken in by the King and Queen of Bybalos. She was asked to be the nursemaid for their three young boys who had really taken a liking to her, a task that she rather enjoyed and took very seriously. Mikasa favored the youngest son in particular, though, and decided that she would make him immortal through a bath of holy fire. But the lady of the house caught such a terrifying act right before the ceremony could proceed and she was understandably horrified.
"What are you doing with my baby boy?!"
"Please, this is not as it seems." She says calmly as she transforms into her normal form, a sight so beautiful and mighty to behold that they were afraid for their lives. "I am the goddess, Mikasa, and I truly mean you no harm."
"W-well, what is it you want?"
"I only want my husband. The tree you made your beautiful ornamental pillar from was the one he died in and his body is still trapped."
"Oh, dear!" The Queen says, stepping back from the doorway leading out into the parlor where the pillar is displayed. "Please, help yourself. Our condolences for King Eren's passing.."
"Thank you. You're all very kind." Mikasa gently touched her palm to the foreheads of each family member and cured them of all ailments to show her gratitude, one of them had been stuck in bed for years with crippling pain that is now gone. She doesn't even do it for the praise, it's never been about that for her and Eren. In fact, that's why they were paired together by their creator, because he knew this power couple will put the needs of humanity before their own. But just this one time, Mikasa chooses to be selfish and shuts herself out from that world to focus on carrying her husband's lifeless body back to Egypt. She assumes her half falcon form and carries them both through the air as tears stream down her face. "No, no, no, no..." Not him, not my Eren. She says to herself and swallows hard as she looks down at his face, paler than before with slightly blue lips from suffocating. "I can't go on without you.." Mikasa whispers to him, and her voice quivers as she lands gracefully in the fertile Nile River Delta with him in her arms. Her wings slowly fade as she carefully sits with him on the ground, his upper half resting in her lap. She kisses his forehead and wraps her arms around his shoulders, sobbing and wailing in agony like she has been torn in half. It hurts deeply to see him lifeless. "You were alive an hour ago! This can't be!"
"Mikasa?" Hitch calls from behind her. "Is that Eren?! What on Earth happened?!" She approaches slowly and crouches down beside her sister with a look of horror.
"Jean happened. I must revive my husband so, if you'll excuse me, I have herbs to gather."
"Of course, anything you need. I'll stay here with his body and make sure nothing happens."
"Thank you." It was strange how Mikasa can look at her with teary eyes but such a cold expression. Though she and Eren have always been inseparable, so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise that she's so heartbroken. They were supposed to be together until the end of time, and perhaps this can still happen if she is able to gather the herbs she needs for a spell that will bring him back to her. I can't live without him by my side. She thinks as she searches desperately for supplies, tears rolling down her cheeks and falling to the ground, creating little flower buds that sprout from the ready Earth below.
Meanwhile, Jean had gotten wind of his brother's return and Mikasa's intentions, so he went out to search for them. He came across his wife Hitch, who was pacing impatiently along The Nile's coastline clearly feeling bothered by something. And he's pretty sure that he knows what it is. "Thinking about how you cheated on me?" Jean asks plainly. A simple question and yet she found herself unable to speak. "So, where's his body?" He studies her eyes and takes note of the hesitation that makes her avert his probing gaze.
"Where's whose body?" Hitch cracks her knuckles anxiously and looks down at the ground, only for him to gently grab her chin and force her to look into his eyes.
"Don't. I know you know where Eren's body is, so where is it?"
"I-"
"Where is his body, Hitch?"
"Jean.." Her eyes fill up with tears. Perhaps if she apologizes, this will all be over. "I'm -"
"I love you and I don’t want to hurt you, but I will if I need to. So I'll ask you one last time, where did you and Mikasa hide that dirt bag's body?" Jean repeats much louder than before but just as emotionless. She eventually caves in and guides him to the hiding spot, not at all anticipating what her vengeful husband proceeded to do next. The body was hacked into multiple pieces then scattered throughout the land and dumped into The Nile River. Jean simply walks away without even looking at her because he finds that he doesn't care what she thinks anymore. Why put in the effort if there clearly isn't anything there? Mikasa strolls by carrying a basket full of herbs intended to bring her husband back to life and was angered to see his murderer. When she realized that he was covered in blood but his own body was absent of any wounds, it's understandable why she feared the worst. Much to her rel͏i͏e͏f, Hitch is very much alive and in one piece, but that also means something horrific has happened to Eren's body to make her sister look like that - shaking, paler than a ghost, and weeping after she's already cried a great deal.
"You were supposed to protect him!"
"He just..I-I didn't think that he would..."
"We must hurry and find every part of Eren's body!" Mikasa cries as she sets the basket of herbs on the ground. The twin sisters sprout their wings and take off in a frantic search for all of his body parts. Unfortunately, the way that the power couple had originally intended to conceive will now be impossible once Eren is revived, because all but one body part was successfully recovered. They return to the fertile Nile River marshes where his body is sewn back together and buried in the wetland up to his chin. Mikasa creates her concoction and with help from her sister, they performed the powerful spell, sending visible waves of energy brighter than the full moon into his body. The raven's tears fall to the Earth and he takes a sharp inhale before he sits up to cough aggressively, the marshland falling from his body. "Oh! Eren! My love!" She sobs into her hand as she watches him turn and meet her eyes, emerald green orbs so bright and lively that they took her breath away.
"Mikasa!" Eren says with genuine shock to his voice and opens his arms for her to embrace him tightly. He looks over her shoulder at Hitch with tears in his eyes and wraps his arms tightly around Mikasa's waist. "What the hell happened?"
"We revived you!" She sits back and gazes into his eyes, smiling and chuckling softly in disbelief. "I-I didn't think it would take because you were hacked to pieces, but here you are..."
"But my body, I feel it is not complete?"
"I'm afraid it's not, I'm so sorry, I couldn't find your -"
"Our creator..." Eren cuts her off, looking down at his body to see the sutures. "I met him. He said that our future son will be strong enough to defeat Jean and restore order to the chaos he has caused."
"But without your..." Mikasa sighs and wipes tears from her eyes, wracking her mind for some sort of a solution that could bring her husband peace. It is her duty as his wife, after all.
"The ritual...flying form," Hitch suggests as she places her hand on Mikasa's shoulder. "Perhaps it'll work?" She offers a small smile to her sister and watches her stand to sprout her beautiful, colorful wings once more. Soaring through the sky in rapid circles over his body, the seed is drawn out and brought into her own so she could become pregnant with their first and only child. With the power of the gods, a baby boy was now growing rapidly inside of Mikasa as she kneels beside her husband, trying desperately not to burst into tears because he is insisting that he has work to do in the afterlife.
"Our little boy will grow to be a warrior with or without me because he has you. You're just as fierce as I am. More so, even."
"Let's get you back to the palace, love, I'll take care of you.." Mikasa repeats for a second time as tears fall down her cheeks.
"We will be together again," Eren says calmly and carefully cradles her cheek in his hand. "Death won't keep us apart forever, then we will have all of eternity to spend together." He gives her a reassuring smile and reaches up to gently push her hair back as she leans in and presses her lips to his. Although she was most certainly reluctant to let him go, Mikasa knows that this is something he must do. And if their creator has instructed him to be leader of the afterlife, to be the judge and the jury of every soul that will come his way, then who is she to tell him otherwise? It was only a single day after Eren descended down to take on his new role that their little boy was born. But Mikasa feared for his safety around Jean because he's half of the man he hates the most, so she hid with him in The Nile River Marshes. She took care of her son, a son of two powerful gods, during the short time required for a youngster to become full grown.
The day that their son left his mother spelled the end for Jean, who had already become somewhat of a tyrant. It's understandable how he gained control so quickly, since the boy's powerful parents have been more than preoccupied lately with their own issues - ones that made it difficult to put their loyal, loving subjects first for once. This young man is powerful, very powerful, and his uncle doesn't stand a chance against him. He gets the ultimate revenge for his father's murder and kills Jean, though it seemed pointless because he knows that won't bring his old man back. But it truly didn't matter, because now his mother Mikasa, the great Queen of the Throne and mother to all pharaohs is back in power once more. They rule together as mother and son, and everything returns to the way things were when her husband was alive - no crimes of any kind, plentiful resources, plenty of jobs and money. It's a paradise.
Meanwhile, in the afterlife, Eren sits on his throne and listens to pleas for mercy from a poor soul whose heart felt so guilty, that the feather went up in record timing. The pleas don't matter, not with the efficiency that comes from weighing guilt. He was crowned as The Lord of The Underworld and now sports green skin to symbolize the mighty Nile River and the fertility of its mud. The afterlife is running smoothly under Eren's control and when his beautiful wife Mikasa takes her throne beside him after her time is up, they will be together again.
Until the end of time.

chase the sky into the ocean
Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome back to the newest episode of ‘what cream is doing instead of sleeping’!
Anyway, I am here now with some little short stories about my Gen 2 characters from ToG and ACOTAR. This little one features a teenage Lyria and Folas.
The title lyrics are from the song Something Wild by Lindsey Sterling and Andrew McMahon, and the chapter lyrics are from the song Kids Again by Artist vs Poet.
Read on Ao3 Here! (Idk why you’d want to, it’s just one chapter lol)
~~~~
just like we were kids-
But still we laugh, we cry, we fall, we get high
Just like we were kids, just like we were kids
And when I, I'm feeling small you get me through it all
Just like we were kids, just like we were kids again
“Folas. Psst. Folas.”
Folas Lochan, fifteen years old, heir to the city of Perranth, shot straight up in his bed, dark hair a mess.
The boy glanced around frantically for a moment, before his ears picked up on the soft giggles from the foot of his bed.
Princess Lyria Galathynius stood before him, in all of her golden glory. She was wearing a simple tunic and leggings, and her hair was unadorned, instead braided simply down her back.
“Lyria,” He hissed, “What in the gods’ name are you doing in my room? It’s- it’s not even light outside yet.” Because the only light that illuminated the suite was candlelight, fires summoned by the princess herself.
“It’s nearly dawn, for your information. Hurry up and get dressed; I have a surprise for you.” Her smirk was big and slightly devious, yet Folas trusted her completely. He wasn’t sure if that was a good or bad thing.
Lyria politely turned around while he rooted around for some clothes, idily flicking her braid back and forth while she waited. Folas tugged on a tunic and pants of his own, and had hardly finished buckling his belt when Lyria turned back and grabbed his arm.
“Where are we going?” He asked cautiously. Lyria creaked the door open slightly, looked back and forth, then dragged him out of his room and into a small alcove down the hall.
“Don’t worry about that.” She murmured. “Right now, mind getting out of here unnoticed. If we’re careful, the guards won’t even know we’re gone.”
He muttered, “Curiouser and curiouser,” before she roughly grabbed him again and dashed down the hall, her trained Fae feet making almost no noise.
They made it to the end of the hall with no incident, and kept going. In all his fifteen years frequenting the Orynth palace, he’d never known so many places to hide. He’d be wonderful at hide-and-seek, when his brothers inevitably wanted to play it.
Lyria managed to sneak them through the entire palace without being discovered, making Folas wonder how long she’d been planning this.
They made their way out back, and were finally able to walk freely. There were guards outside, yes, but significantly less than inside the castle itself. So few, that the pair was able to walk side by side again.
Lyria led him to the stables, where it was pitch black inside. The princess lit a small flame in the palm of her hand, the fire illuminating her smile.
“I promise it’s not going to burn. I won’t risk the poor horses like that.” She walked confidently down the rows of stalls, the flickering flame in her hand the only indication of where she was.
She stopped in front of one stall, where, from Folas’s limited perspective, a lovely brown mare stood.
Lyria glanced around for a moment, before she found a torch in a socket in the wall. She flicked her hand, and fire roared to life on it. The princess used the light to see as she opened the stall and let the horse out.
Folas watched on in silence as Lyria saddled the mare, like she’d done it a million times before. She was mesmerizing, the way she moved to confidently, so sure of herself. She could have been doing everything wrong and yet Folas would have been convinced she knew exactly what she was doing.
“This is Whiskey. She’s my favorite. You can choose any horse in here, they’re all docile.” Lyria stroked the mare’s nose as she talked, then lifted her hand and pointed to a stall a few over.
“But if I were you, I’d choose Miah. He’s gentle, he won’t throw you off.”
Folas heeded her advice, choosing a light gray stallion. He saddled him up, slightly less confidently than Lyria had, then led the horse over.
“Care to explain why we’re taking off in the middle of the night on horseback, Princess?” He queried. Lyria rolled her eyes.
“Calm yourself. You’ll find out in due course. Just know, I think you’ll love it.”
They led the horses outside and mounted them. Sure enough, the stallion was as gentle as could be. Lyria stroked Whiskey’s dark mane, then shot him a devilish grin, and took off at a gallop. Folas wasted no time in following.
The darkness of the sky was fading slowly, the sky lightening from a deep purple-blue to a pale periwinkle. The horses’ hooves thundered, even on the ground that was still wet with dew.
The Oakwald forest rose up to meet them, gnarled trees, centuries old, blocking out the light all around them. He would have been lost if it wasn’t for Lyria, and the way she seemed to be a living flame. Embers trailed after her, and fire seemed to dance in her golden hair.
The horses appeared to know the route well, and had no problem following a worn deer-trail. They leaped over fallen logs with ease and dodged young saplings that sprouted in the way, and didn’t once slow to nibble at the tantalizing green grass.
The rising sun pierced through the branches of the forest, and Lyria beamed at the light. Her smile was contagious, and even in his confusion, Folas’s lips twitched in the beginning of a grin.
After a few more minutes of silence, Lyria suddenly pulled her mount to a stop. Miah stopped behind her, dipping his gray head to some leaves on the sides of the path.
“We’re going off trail.” Lyria declared. Before Folas could say anything, the princess had spurred Whiskey forward, into the thick underbrush. There was a small, hardly noticeable path, as if a deer or another creature had only recently been through.
Folas’s horse followed with no complaint, walking through the forest at a leisurely pace. Fresh sun spilled down between the branches, illuminating the once-dark woods.
“I know where we’re going.” Lyria chattered. “And you’re going to love it.”
“I’m sure I will.” He assured her. The princess looked over her shoulder and beamed at him, flushed cheeks crinkling.
The scents of the forest seemed to awake with the sun, the pungent odor of the woods and animals and flowers combining in a dizzying swirl as Folas breathed in. Ahead of him, Lyria took a deep breath, and smiled broadly.
The small, hardly worn path soon led to what Folas knew was their destination: a large clearing full of flowers. The floral scent was nearly overwhelming, but Lyria seemed to take it all in her stride.
Both horses made their way into the grove, and the princess dismounted easily. Folas gave Miah’s mane a stroke before slipping off himself. Lyria glanced back at him, then gently took Whiskey’s reins and led her into the clearing.
Folas did the same, and kept following the princess. They arrived upon a small pond, not very wide in diameter, but deep enough he couldn’t see the bottom. The water was fairly clear, and the sun reflected off it in a shimmering array of colors.
The horses moved to drink from the pond, and Lyria took Folas’s elbow. She led them to the edge of the clearing, and she sat and leaned against a tree. Folas did the same, taking in the lovely landscape as he did so.
“It’s beautiful.” He whispered. It felt almost taboo to speak, to disturb the serenity of the place. So he whispered instead.
“I’m not able to go here often.” Lyria murmured. Like she felt the same way about the loud noises. “I’m so busy, you know. Sam and I discovered the place when we were younger, and we got lost while exploring the forest. Our father found us, but we decided we didn’t want anyone to know about this place. Except, Sam doesn’t come here often, either. So I wanted a person to share it with.”
She wouldn’t meet his eyes, like she was afraid that he’d say something bad. But… he wouldn’t. Lyria never seemed like anything but confident in herself, and was odd seeing her so vulnerable.
“Thank you.” He said. “I mean it. Thank you for sharing this with me.” The sun rose further overhead, though it was still early morning. It seemed like a lifetime ago that he’d woken up in his bed at dawn, though it couldn’t have been more than a couple of hours.
Lyria’s smile returned, and she stood, dragging him up as she did so. She strode towards the pond, to where the horses had stopped drinking and were now grazing at the plants on its banks.
“I’m swimming.” Lyria declared. Folas cocked his head curiously, and she smirked. The princess shucked off her shirt, and he nearly choked. Folas turned around, feeling heat rise in his face. Lyria giggled behind him.
“You can turn around now.” He did so, and the princess, only in her undergarments, took a running leap, and landed with a massive splash in the pond.
Folas sputtered as freezing cold water washed over him. When he opened his eyes again, Lyria was bobbing in the pond, her golden hair sodden.
He playfully growled, “I’ll get you for that.” Then he ripped off his own clothes and jumped into the water. Lyria squealed, swimming away with large strokes.
The water was frigid, despite the fact it was early summer in Terrasen. The cold sucked all the air out his lungs, but he was determined. He paddled after the princess, making sure the water splashed her as he did so.
Lyria laughed and swam away, green eyes sparkling. Folas reached out for her, managing to grab one of her ankles and pull her towards him. The princess shrieked playfully and tried to get away, but he held tight and dragged her over.
When she was close enough, he let go for a split second, declared, “Hold your breath!” and shoved her under the water.
Lyria came up again a few seconds later, gasping in fake horror. “You bastard!” She shouted, pushing down his shoulders so he went under, too.
Folas swam to the surface, and shook his dark hair out like a wet dog, earning more squeals from the princess. She splashed him back, and soon the pair were in an all-out water battle.
They swam after each other and pushed them under for a few seconds, being careful enough that no one was injured. They splashed and splattered water on each other, and at one point they had a competition to see who could hold their breath the longest. Lyria won, though Folas insisted she cheated. (He had no proof, of course).
When they finally flopped down onto the banks, breathing hard yet unable to contain their smiles, the sun was well up.
“We should head back.” Folas suggested. Lyria groaned, but pulled herself up and went to fetch her clothes. The horses, startled by the splashing, had moved their grazing to the edge of the clearing.
Folas stood up as well, and was headed to his discarded pants, when a flash of white caught his attention.
His breath caught in his throat. No- it couldn’t be. “Lyria.” He hissed.
The princess turned around, opening her mouth to speak, but her words seemed to freeze in her mouth.
A pure white stag stood right outside the clearing, its snowy fur nearly obscured by the thick trees. However, it was still completely visible to the two teenagers. As was the lick of flame that burned between its antlers.
Lyria came to her senses first, going into a deep curtsy, despite the fact she was only in her soaking wet undergarments. Folas quickly followed suit, bowing deeply.
He took a small glance up at the stag. It seemed to dip its head back at him, a twinkling in its dark eyes. It held his gaze for a moment, before turning away and bounding off.
“I’ve never seen one before.” Lyria said softly, after the stag was no longer visible. Folas nodded absently, finishing his task of getting dressed again.
He turned back to the princess, who was dressed as well, and was heading for the horses. He followed her, as he always did, though his mind was elsewhere.
The stag- it had seemed to bow back to him. Yet it did nothing to Lyria, who was a proper princess and heir to the throne of Terrasen. He wondered if he’d imagined it.
The princess in question tutted impatiently at him, snapping him out of his stupor. He smiled at her, at her green eyes and golden hair that stuck to her back.
“Let’s go home.”
soft; describe your favourite spot in your house: the dining room its huge and its got big windows i love looking out windows so when i write i like sitting at the table to look out every now and then sometimes i’ll just look out that window when i wake up and be like damn its a new day.
toot; what is something you find unique about yourself?: hmmm…. i guess how idealistic i am. and how intense i feel about things. when i was a kid i thought everyone had strong feelings about something and just LOVED things all the time but getting older i realize being passionate about things esp things like books and tv and movies is really………. odd haha. like even now i will type paragraphs about a favorite movie or something that happened in a show and my friends will be like why are u like this. the same goes with how idealistic i am like thought it was normal to have so many things u want to do and see in the world but when i talk to my friends theyre like oh i just never thought about doing that so it makes me feel odd sometimes bc i know i expecet a lot out of life hahahaha.
wispy; do you like the place where you grew up? do you think you will live there when you get older?: i LOVE san diego and i LOVE california (in spite of how damn expensive it is here) but even when i was little i didn’t see myself living here as an adult with a family. i just always felt like this world is so big why live in one place your whole life. one day i want to live somewhere green and have my farm with my little animals and soccer team of kids haha. like linda and paul mccartney.
