Hi! Hope I’m no bother but I fell upon your blog and I couldn’t help but love it. I wondered if I could have a hcs, drables, one shot, any format who arrange you, with Shanks and Mihawk (Sorry if you aren’t comfortable with those characters, pick up other if you prefer) who meet their first love after years and years of no see? I heard a lot that you will forever love your first love, so I wondered how they would reacted to meet them/her once adults and mature. They stay with their first genuine love quite a long time, 5-7 years, and broke up for no real valid reasons, just because they were young and else, they met their first love maybe at 16-17 yo. Sorry my English is awful :,)
DESCRIPTION: You’re their first love and reunite after so many years
WARNINGS: none
CHARACTERS: Mihawk, Shanks
WORDS: 2,388
A/N: Sorry I've gotten so behind on these, it's been a rough few weeks but I'll hopefully be back on track soon. Thank you for this request. I really hope you like it!

MIHAWK
Love wasn’t a word Mihawk considered to be heavily used in his vocabulary. Some would call him heartless and cruel but he was a realist. If anything he thought the world overused it to the point of it losing it’s depth and importance which was why he tended to rarely let it fall from his lips. Yes he had ‘lovers’ from time to time but were they ever considered someone he loved? No. None of them even came close to that. How could they when the one that had claimed his heart, the one that taught him the true meaning of the word love, was you.
Although it had been so many years, the memories he had with you were still so clear and sharp that they could have rivalled any blade. Your paths had crossed at the very beginning of his travels across the world in the hopes of training and claiming the title of the world’s greatest swordsman as his own. He had been pointed to your home by the locals after asking who the best sword fighter was, eager to add another victory to his steadily growing list. However when he appeared at your home he was a little thrown to find you tending to a small plot of farmland. Mihawk knew you were the only one living here as the locals had told him that much, so there was no confusing you were the one he was looking for. He wasn’t expecting someone who looked as young as him to be his supposed opponent. Still he was proof that age had no bearing on talent. So he challenged you.
Quickly he was thrown once more when you lifted your head from your work to fix him with a look he’d never forgotten. Your eyes were bright and silently assessing and whatever it was you saw in him made your lips quirk into an amused smirk that in his youth had made Mihawk skin prickle with an unfamiliar warmth. He could only watch as you rose with the basket of freshly pulled vegetables in your arms and firmly refused his challenge and walked towards your house. He’d never been refused before and demanded to know why, following you inside. “I don’t need to give you a reason.” Had been your cool reply before you looked over your shoulder at him. “I just don’t want to.”
“I’m not leaving until you fight me.” Mihawk had boldly declared, the intense sincerity of his words causing you to laugh. At the sound, he had originally bristled but it wouldn’t be long before he found that it was his among his favourite things in the world. True to his word, Mihawk had stayed on the island far longer than he had intended. Every day he came to your home and challenged you. Every day you refused and watched him storm away. Eventually though after your refusal you would invite him to stay; sometimes to share something to eat, or even to go on a walk, or to help you with your chores. At first he hadn’t understood why he so readily spent the time with you but then he did. He wanted to be with you more than he wanted to fight you. When he realised that, his time with you each day grew more and more until he didn’t go and stopped challenging you completely.
You loved him completely and never wanted to be apart from him, because even though you were both young you knew what you felt was real and unshakable. However you knew that it wasn’t right. He couldn’t remain on a tiny island when his ambition lay out in the large and unseen world. As much as it pained you to do so, you insisted it was time to stop things. Mihawk had to go and become the greatest swordsman and you had to stay on the island because as it stood, you were the only one that could protect the others living there. Your reputation kept many away but as Mihawk had proved, some would come looking for a fight or to cause harm to the innocent. Begrudgingly Mihawk saw the sense in your words and he left but you were never forgotten.
Now here he stood in some nowhere town on some random island, watching you talk to an elderly woman tending to a flower stand in the middle of the market square. It was you, he knew it was you. Time had aged you like the finest of wines, your beauty matured for all to see. Then you laughed and it proved what he’d already known. After all this time without you and even though any free moment he had he thought of you, to see you now and know that you were just a few feet away from his touch he couldn’t help but let his mind wonder about you beyond his fondest memories. What if you’d married? What if you didn’t remember him? What if you didn’t want to see him?
When you said goodbye to the woman and started to walk away, Mihawk found that his previous worries disappeared instantly, not wanting to risk losing this chance. Immediately he set off through the crowd in the direction you went in. Thankfully you hadn’t gotten too far and when he was close, his hand lightly touched your shoulder and took a step back when you turned suddenly to face him.
Your expression flickered from confusion to shock and then joy at the unexpected sight of your first love standing in front of you. It gave Mihawk a feeling of relief to see the smile light your face before your expression became playful. “Well? Aren’t you going to ask me?” Mihawk blinked in confusion but quickly he realised you meant a challenge and let out a small breath of amusement. Slowly he shook his head.
“No, I just don’t want to.” He answered simply, smirking when you finally stepped closer and slid your hand around his arm.
“In that case, I’m not leaving you until you do.” Mihawk chuckled and started walking down the street with you. Finally reunited with the only person he ever loved? There was no way he was going to let you go again.
SHANKS
When Shanks was young he never fully understood why Roger, Rayleigh and the other older members of the crew got so distracted and frankly stupid in his opinion when they were around ‘attractive’ people when they were visiting an island. It always went beyond just enjoying being off of the ship for a while and making friends. Curious one day as they sailed on a calm stretch of water, he turned the question to the vice-captain who laughed at the question. So Shanks pressed more. “It just doesn’t make sense. What’s so special about them that makes you all so goofy and red faced? The Marines would lower your bounty if they saw you like that, the Captain too.”
“Oh, you’ll understand when you’re older Shanks.” Rayleigh told him with another laugh and light clap on his shoulder. Still that answer wasn’t good enough for him and he stared at the older man. If he was old enough to ask the question, surely he’d be considered old enough now for an actual answer. Seeing that the issue wasn’t going to drop, Rayleigh relented just a little more and sighed. “Look Shanks, it’s a little hard to explain but it’s another way of enjoying life and our adventures. We don’t know how much time we have at sea before finding a new island so it’s best to enjoy all it has to offer. Company with attractive people who feel the same about you is another aspect of that.”
“Doesn’t it make you sad though? You never see them again. Don’t you miss them?”
“Not really. It’s not love and they know that.”
“Huh…” Shanks felt even more confused then. The older crew always had a sickly loved up expression during the encounters he’d witnessed before they disappeared with their new ‘friends’ for the evening. So if it wasn’t love what was it? More to the point a new question came out of his mouth. “So what does love feel like?”
“Love? What’s with the hard questions today, lad?” The vice-captain muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. “I mean it’s different for everyone. Sometimes it’s slow, other times it’s fast and comes out of nowhere. Still I suppose at the same time, love feels similar. It’s like lightning hitting you mind, body, and soul. It’s powerful. When you’re in love and know it, it’s like nothing else matters but them. It’s like their very presence can calm and excite you all at once.” Shanks slowly nodded. He could understand that in theory but one person being the only thing he could think about seemed dangerous to him. Satisfied with the answer given, he finally let Rayleigh continue with his day.
Looking back on that conversation now that he was older, Shanks would laugh at his own naivety as lust was certainly something he knew when he hit puberty just as Rayleigh had predicted and know it a lot. Love however, he only ever experienced once. Only a year after the conversation about love, the crew had docked on an island and headed straight for a restaurant in desperate need of plenty of good food and drink. Taking a seat, Shanks sat back and waited for the usual fun to start. Given the sudden increased size of customers, the owner called for you to help out the family business and take the orders.
You made your way to Shanks’ table and took the orders. Shanks was distractedly looking at the menu and had zoned out, only snapping out of it when your hand lightly pushed the rim of his straw hat up and leant in to smile at him. “Anything catching your eye or do you need more time?”
Shanks’ lips parted as he stared blankly at you, feeling like something shot right through his body. He was frozen in place and yet he felt warm, lost completely in your eyes. It felt like an age before his mind began to work again but really it had been only a few seconds. Quickly he managed to clear his throat and picked the first thing he saw when he forced his eyes back onto the menu. At the sound of you moving onto the next table, Shanks let out a breath only to wince when Buggy’s elbow caught him in the ribs. “Jeez, what came over you?” He’d asked, finding his friend and rival’s reaction to you funny but at the same time it was concerning to see Shanks so out of sorts. However the others at the table smirked, knowing the signs immediately.
It seemed like luck was truly on Shanks’ side when he was told they would be staying on the island for a few months to ensure they had enough supplies and preparation done before continuing on the next stretch of the journey. That meant he got to spend more time with you which was all he wanted. Luckier still, you seemed to be as equally taken with him. It had been just as Rayleigh had described love, you were all that mattered in his waking and sleeping moments and you brought him a sense of calm he’d never felt before but at the same time just being near you made his entire being feel restless and excited.
While he fell in love first you fell in love with him just as fast. Sadly it never got to last because in what felt like a blink, he and the rest of Roger’s crew were saying goodbye to those they’d gotten to know in their time on land. You’d done your best to keep a brave face and seem cheerful for Shanks’ sake. “You can always come back and visit some day, right?” You told him with a tight smile. “You’ll have plenty of stories of your adventures to tell me when we see each other again.”
“I promise each one will be more impressive than the last. The next time you see me, I’ll be Captain of my own ship.” Shanks promised with a proud puff of his chest that made you smile through the hurt of having to say goodbye.
True to his word, Shanks did become captain of his own ship and his great adventures took him over the world, some distracting him from the promise he had every intention of keeping. However as the years passed, he’d idly considered had time only made his feelings for you seem stronger than they had been through mere nostalgia. When he did finally manage to return to your island, he had been shocked to hear that you’d left many years ago. The disappointment he’d felt at the news told him that no, it wasn’t nostalgia; his feelings for you had been real.
Another handful of years passed and one evening in a tavern, Shanks and his crew talked and laughed as drink and food flowed freely. As Shanks drained the drink in his hand he faintly heard the sound of the chair beside him being taken. At first he thought it was Benn or Yasopp but when he glanced out of the corner of his eye and saw you there, his entire body locked. Choking on his drink, Shanks felt the painful burn in his throat as he forced his drink down instead of coughing it up. Wheezing he slammed his hand against his chest and could feel his heart beating rapidly and he knew it wasn’t because he nearly drowned on his drink. “Y-you!” He managed out, finally able to look at you, the same feeling he’d had in his youth crashing into him hard. “Wow.”
“Wow yourself.” You grinned, taking in the sight of how much the boy you’d fallen in love with had changed yet still felt the same. “So, got any stories for me, Captain?” Shanks laughed and turned properly in his seat to fix you with his full attention, his eyes set firmly on your face.
“I’ve got a lifetime of stories for you, just as promised.”
“Good, because I’m not going anywhere.”

Things don’t become comfortable, but familiar. You get into a routine, one which smears the days and nights into the other. The landscape helps with that. The sun is fleeting, even in July. The days are longer but it’s not anywhere as stifling or humid as New York. Like everything else, it’s different.
The man at the fish place, Frederik, knows your name. His wife, Inga too. When you walk in the door, they put your order to fry before you even get to the counter. They’re friendly and warm. It’s nice to have some smiling faces when you can hardly muster the same.
They like to ask you about New York; they’re finally planning a big trip to America after twenty-five years together. They remind you of Marigold and her bakery. You long for one of her eclairs and her chatty demeanour. Just another thing to miss.
As you sit down at a table near the window to eat in, your phone goes off. You answer as you read Sam’s name across the screen. He’s the only one you’ve talked to in the last month. Nearly two now. August is close.
“Yo, yo, girly pop,” he sings from the other end.
“Girly pop? Sam,” you chide as you hover a thick cut fry before your mouth.
“Chicky poo, nope. Girly pop, nope. I’ll get there,” he teases, “finally got a hold of you.”
“Uh, yeah, the site is far. No signal,” you shrug and take a bite.
“I know, I'm just needy,” he kids. “So, you hitting the spa? Summer’s going fast.”
“Not yet,” you swallow. “Sam, there’s a lot of work here and it’s just me. The only help I get is from a local student volunteer and they do three hours a week.”
“Oof, why does your work sound so boring?” He groans
“Hey!”
“Well, I mean, digging up dirt all day, tell me you’re not going mad. You making friends? No one to cool, I hope. I’m still your number one guy.”
“Not really. It’s tough. Long hours. I don’t know,” you stare out the window as you toy with the bamboo fork.
“If you were going to hide all day in a hovel, you could’ve stayed in New York,” he sighs.
“Sam, I’m trying. Really. It’s... It’s going to take some time.”
“Right,” he agrees grimly. “Time. A year is not that long.”
You hum and lean back in the chair. You’re not as hungry as you were. You close up the container and stand.
“I know, alright?” You sniff as you tidy the table and grab your food, “but this isn’t a vacation.”
“It’s also not a missionary trip,” he retorts. “I’m not tryna be a dick here, I’m helping. You need this.”
You push out into the street and cluck. Silence. You don’t know what to say. He’s right and just like ever day, the conversation is the same. Over and over. It’s going to drive you crazy.
“More sunlight this time of year, good for work--”
“No more work talk,” he interjects, “if you don’t got anything fun going on, I'll just have to make you jealous. Some good old fashioned FOMO. Hm, me and Bucky went to Jersey.”
“Jersey? Why?” You take the bait, happy for the distraction.
“Oh, yeah, I told him there was a vintage bike for sale there.”
“You told him that but...”
“There wasn’t. I just wanted to see him interact with the locals. The old ladies love him but the men... well, I think he might have a warrant out now.”
“No, Sam, what the hell?” You exclaim as you stroll along. “Are you trying to get him killed?”
“Hey, I got his back. Just like I got yours. It was just a prank.”
“Wait, Sam, where exactly did you take him in Jersey?”
“Some cribbage club, I don’t know. I saw a page for it online. Thought he’d fit in--”
“They were old?”
“They match his energy,” he snorts.
You can’t help but laugh. It feels good. Just that little bit of home. Your amusement is dampened as your heart sinks. You really were so stupid. You didn’t see what you had all around you; Bucky, Sam, more than just Steve. Now it’s all behind you and going back won’t be the same as before.
💟
There’s tension in the air. It’s going to rain. You suspect your day will be cut short by the gathering clouds but your persist. No use in running. Again.
The last time you left in fear of a storm, it waited until the next day. So you sit, boots set in the dirty, hunched over as you carefully trace out the strange lump. It’s more than sediment. Bone but not a skeleton. Likely animal and bent into some tool. You have to be delicate. It’s not like the movies, you can’t just dig your hand in and rip it out.
Your earbud drones as a retro R&B playlist keeps your mind at focus. You wipe your forehead with the back of your glove, feeling the flecks of dirt cling to your skin. You ignore it and press on. Just a little more, a little more.
It’s bigger than you expect. Just as you think it might come free, you find it goes further down. You can make out the jagged break and the hide wrapping at it’s base. A spear of some sort.
You roll your shoulders out and put your tools down on the open role. You peel of the gloves and reach for the tall insulated bottle of water. You gulp, your throat cooling nicely at the flow. You cap the bottle and clear your throat, listening to the silence of the mountain.
Yet it isn’t quiet. You glance around at the subtle scratching, a strange tapping across the ground. It could be vermin. It’s not unusual to disturb a nest of one thing or another on a dig but they usually leave early on.
You put the bottle down and shove your hand back into a glove. A puffy breath comes over the scratching. Several breaths in quick succession, as if there’s something sniff. You keep your other glove in your grip and stand. Your legs are so cramped that your steps are stiff and stunted.
As you search for the source, there’s a yipe and a fuzzy shape catches your eye. You tilt your head, thoroughly confused at the barking beast. You’re not certain that chihuahuas are native to Norway. At least, you wouldn’t assume so.
The ashy blond dog has longer fur along its ears and chest and a white bolt down its chest. You can tell it isn’t wild despite its behaviour as it is finely groomed and wears a bright red collar. You approach the fence as it hops, stopping only to try to dig beneath with its dirtied paws.
“Hi, buddy,” you near the eager dog, “how’d you get up here?”
You stop just across from the dog and poke your fingers through the fence. It stops, you think a ‘he’, and sniffs your fingers. His cold nose tickles you and you wiggle until you can pet his head. The little thunderbolt emblem on hiss collar peeks through his mane. There might be some information there.
“Thunder!” The booming voice sounds like the very thing it decries, “Thunder, you pest, where’re you off too?”
There’s a crunching of soil and rock along the mountain pass as the dog growls and barks again, turning to face the skewing of a towering shadow. You watch in shock at the approach. You didn’t think there was life so far up. That or someone has chosen a rather treacherous hiking trail.
The dog, you assume ‘Thunder’, bounces back and forth in anticipation of his own, calling to him with his pitchy yaps. The man appears around the jagged rock and you feel the air knocked from your chest. You slowly reach to take out your earbud and tuck it in a pocket.
Wow. You blink to make sure it’s real. To be certain this isn’t some trick of the mind or this ancient land. Maybe the gods are real here.
He’s tall and broad and handsome. His canvas jacket does little to conceal his muscular build as his jeans are snug to his thick thighs. You think he’s even bigger than Steve. You wince at the reminder of the man but it quickly flits away. You can’t ignore the man before you with his golden tresses twisted back into a low bun, stray strands wisping forward to frame his stony jaw and stormy blue eyes.
You stand gaping through the fence as the man flinches in fright. His gaze meet yours and his cheeks tinge pink as he gives a crooked grin, “ah, Thunder, my darling, you’ve found a friend.”
He whistles and the dog lunges forward. He picks up the chihuahua, their size difference almost comical as he cradles him in one arm. You can’t think of a thing to say. You can barely think.
You snap your mouth shut and clear your throat. Work. That’s what you should be doing.
“Hello,” the man nears the other side of the fence before you can move away, “I’ve been wondering what this is all about. The signs...” he points with his thumb over his shoulder.
“Oh, uh,” you peer around as if lost. You sort of are. “A dig. Er. Grant,” you stammer out. You take a breath and still your mind, “I work with an archeological society in New York. We’ve been sponsored by your national board to exhume this site.”
“Ah, yes, makes sense,” he lowers his brows thoughtfully as the dog squirms in his hold, yiping and biting at his sleeve. “Forgive me, she is rather uncouth.” He raises the dog higher and she wiggles in his arm. You see it now, definitely a pampered girl. “This is Thunder. She lives up to her namesake, eh?”
“Uh, yeah,” you give a brittle smile, unsure.
“Thor,” he dips his chin down, “I live just up the pass.”
“You do?” You wonder curiously. “All the way up here?”
“Oh yes, if you saw the old haunt, you might just want to dig that up too,” he jokes. “We usually go up the pass, towards the river.”
“The river?”
“Yes, you mustn’t stray far from here,” he remarks as he raises a hand to lean on the fence, only to nearly tip the unanchored grating. “Oooh, apologies,” he rights himself with a laugh, “anyhow, it is nice to see a new face around here. Better to have a name for it.”
“Right, uh,” you offer your name and giggle nervously, “it’s just me on-site, guess I forget my manners.”
“Not to worry. As the resident mountain man, my etiquette does lack,” he winces as Thunder chomps on his thumb knuckle, “eh, you monster, alright.” He holds her up and she pokes her nose through the fence, “she loves new people. Not so keen on the old.”
“She's cute,” you scratch her nose and she licks your fingers. “Not exactly a native species.”
“Who knows where she came from? Found the little dragon in the woods. Suppose someone left her there. She was covered in mud, so small I though she was a bloody toad,” he muses as he brings her back against his chest and rocks her, “it was only her thunderous barks which told me otherwise, isn’t that right, darling?”
He makes a kissy noise at her and her fluffy tail wags wildly against him. You smile more genuinely. It is nice to have another living thing around after digging up the broken and dead for so long.
“So you’re from New York?” He asks abruptly, his blue eyes rolling over you like a tide.
“Yeah,” you utter breathily, “yes, New York.”
“You’ve been here a while?”
“Couple months,” you shift and twist your glove.
“Wonderful, and you’ve done much exploring? You must live in town.”
“About three hours,” you point towards the gravelly road, “haven’t had much time for sightseeing but I found a good fish shop.”
“A shop? That’s no good. We catch our own fish, fry ‘em up over the pit,” he says, “that’s the way we do it up here.”
You nod, “sounds fun. Well, er,” you turn halfway and look around, your eyes skimming up to the cloudy sky, “I should probably hustle. Looks like rain.”
“That it does but it won’t be ‘til midnight,” he assures.
“You think it’ll hold out?”
“I know so,” he affirms and lingers by the fence, trying to see past you, “what exactly are you uncovering over there?”
“Not much so far,” you pull on your loose glove.
“You must know what this place was. A raider’s camp.”
“Is that so?”
“Mm, yes, the raiders would camp upon the pass away from those who might come ashore, then go off themselves to find a coast to reap,” he explains.
“And how do you know all that?” You ask as you tramp back to your place in the dirt.
“Suppose some of my ancestors camped here with them,” he offers casually, “for so long as we’ve been up here. Once the viking scamps settled, they had to find a home somewhere. Some fellow named Agmundr or another built a stone house further up.”
“Admundr? Family?” You prompt.
“Distant,” he assures, “been some time and that stone house is now a foundation.”
You get down to your knees as you grab your brush and peek over at him, “thanks for the information. I’ll have to add it to the land report. Have them crosscheck in the archives.”
“Not at all. You won’t find it all on your paper, you know? We carry or history on our tongues here.”
“Sure,” you say as you bend over the spearhead and start again.
“You don’t mind if I watch? I always did love history and I’ve never seen a proper dig before.”
“Not much going on, I’m afraid,” you shrug, “but if you want.”
“Thunder will have a tantrum if I go,” he chuckles, “she likes you.”
“Hm,” you scoff, “she is very outspoken.”
You set your eyes on your task but can’t shake the awareness of your audience. It’s not too unusual. There were a few digs you did early on in the heart of the city and people loved to ogle you. This is different. Just the two of you. A stranger even. Friendly as he is, you’re happy for the fence, even if it is rather flimsy.
“Those bones aren’t for you,” he says to the dog as she wriggles in his grasp. “Let’s find a stick then, you little pest.”

What is the difference between twitter and tumblr
there's a lot of differences between them, from community to functionality. we'd be here all week if i listed every single one, so i'm just gonna name a few: 1. the community on tumblr is a lot more chill than the one on twitter. tumblr users HIGHLY encourage curating your own experience, it's basically impossible to be on tumblr for a while without seeing at least one post encouraging you to unfollow/block people you dont vibe with, not respond to hateful asks and block mean anons, and filter tags you dont like. this isn't to say that other apps don't do the same thing, but in my experience, tumblr users are far more vocal about it. it's very ingrained in the app's culture as a whole. linking this back to the SC fandom real quick: I've only been faced with one drama on tumblr, compared to twitter where it seems like every fucking day some new shit pops up. tumblr-exclusive SC fans are largely unaware of any of the crazy shit that goes on on twitter. i keep saying this to my moots but it is genuinely far more peaceful on here than on twitter. 2. tumblr is also more slow-paced than twitter because the character limit on this app is HUGE (4096 characters per text block, and tumblr allows a total of 1000 content blocks per post, meaning that if you use every content block you have exclusively for text, the total character limit is 4,096,000 characters per post. thats like 630154 - 819200 words !! also, reblogs count as their own post, and you can reblog a post a near infinite number of times (ignoring the 250 post limit a day.)), which i think is part of the reason why this app is more chill. it's less stressful, it feels like you can take your time on here. this isn't mentioning that you can attach up to 10 images to a post, making tumblr a better app for both writers and artists compared to twitter. the more you stay on this app, the more you notice that a lot of posts are very long. 3. i've said this on another post of mine (which i really recommend reading if you have the time because i talk a lot about the importance of reblogging posts on tumblr, among other things), but I'll say it here again: while the community on tumblr is more chill, it's also very quiet. a lot of tumblr users have become very passive in their engagement with posts, only liking and never reblogging. in my personal experience, i've found that you get far more engagement and reach on twitter than on tumblr (emphasis on personal experience, because a few of my friends have told me that they actually get more interaction on tumblr than on twitter.) in short: twitter is where you go to get famous, tumblr is where you go to hang out with friends. 4. this point came from my friend @buggyboo-exe, he said: "I'd add the fact that Tumblr allows for more, how do I say, personal interaction? On Twitter sure, you can follow people and see just your follower's posts and everything but Tumblr not only has the ask box, it also gives you the feature to answer those asks privately. I think it's just easier to make friends on Tumblr and actually keep those friends long term than on Twitter. Likely due to the slow paced thing as well. I'm not sure how to explain it better. Tumblr also started the whole "moots" thing I believe so followers are always seen more as friends then anywhere else." I think this point is very solid because, yes, although I think twitter is better in terms of quantity of engagement, tumblr allows for deeper, more personal interaction. a lot of my closest friends on this fandom are ones I've made on tumblr. I feel way more comfortable goofing around and being silly with them publicly on here than on twitter.
5. this is something I wanted to add to the post i linked in point 3 but forgot to, and that is that tumblr is more or less timeless. it's very, very, VERY common to come across posts from as far back as 15 years ago. you basically never see twitter posts ever again if they weren't made this year, but on tumblr? it's not unusual to see a post from 2015 circulating. it's not weird to reblog art or writing from months or years ago. it's also not weird to go through an artist's blog and just reblog/like all their posts in one sitting. (also, reblogging a post means you get to keep a copy of it on your blog forever. meaning that even if a user deletes their blog, or deletes the post itself, as long as you've reblogged it it's never truly gone. reblog your favorite posts if you wanna keep them with you forever!!) 6. tumblr users REALLY stress anonymity. one of the first things i told my twitter mutuals was to PRIVATE YOUR LIKES AND FOLLOWING TABS !! no one wants or needs to see that stuff. this is your personal blog, you're allowed to and even encouraged to keep things about yourself private. it is usually extremely easy to tell who is and isnt a tumblr user, because twitter users tend to: have their likes and following visible, don't have a blog title, dont have a personal blog theme, and only like posts with little to no reblogs.
I'll cut myself off here because this post is getting very long, but yeah, there's a LOTTTT of differences. i hope this answered your question !! and to anyone reading this, feel free to ask me if you have any other questions about being on tumblr. I know a lot of you are new here and i LOVE to yap, so i'd be happy to answer !!

Would you happen to have any good fic recs (can be wip or completed, or some of your own) :D
hi anon!! it really depends on what you're into, though i've been posting more about hatchetfield i'll give you recs for that!! i'm going to sort this by ships, because it works in my mind so!! hope this helps!! not all the fics i like, but here are really truly just some!! especially since i couldn't find some i really liked unfortunately but, such is life. i generally like monstery themes and supernatural elements, so that's going to be a common theme in these recs, but not all of them.
jagertitty (grace x max) shameless self promotion - siren/werewolf au, incomplete, longfic @owlhari - ghost!grace and max meeting for the first time, she saves him from dying in the waylon prank, oneshot prince_doomed - another version of grace's dream of ghost!max?? the description on ao3 does it better, but either way it's very beautifully written, oneshot
lautity (grace x steph) shameless self promotion - tgwdlm au, i had fun, and it was nice to make grace instantly okay with being queer for fucking once, oneshot @vesperione (sorry for the late tag, i came across this scrolling through queer hf and realised i never fixed the post!!) - the fic is called good luck babe, what it says on the tin, gracie is repressed, oneshot @theiloveyousong - first meeting when steph and grace were little kids and adorable and you should read it, oneshot
lautski (steph x pete) @the-spaced-out-ace - pete is a mermaid, and Fun (emotional torture) is to be had, in progress but seemingly coming to a conclusion :) @max-will-one-day-be-okay - vampire steph vampire steph VAMPIRE STEPH- (in progress)
lautskity (grace x steph x pete) @max-will-one-day-be-okay - grace has a sexual fantasy about steph and pete, oneshot, :) @jklovesfandoms - generally great works for this ship, i say start with comfort her (in progress) and go from there :)
paulkins (paul x emma) slytherlynn - this fic is abandoned in the middle of very plotty stuff (so be warned it is incomplete and i doubt it will ever be complete), but it has infected!paul and i remember reading it on the train into high school YEARS ago, and i really like all the character dynamics @hotchocolateboy - very alice woodward centric, slice of life sort of stuff (my girl is going THROUGH it) but i just!! really like it!! in progress @affo-gatto-gateau - mermaid!paul fic, in progress, it's fun i'm enjoying it!! there is lore being set up and i am HERE for it
the npmd jocks (kyle x max, as well as brenda x stacy) @nibblelinephym - stacy and brenda are oblivious lesbians who are in love with each other, oneshot @tnoy-keraxis - a night (so yeah oneshot) where many people are in love and we get a peek into their lives, framed by max and kyle being useless and oblivious and tragic (they aren't useless, it's internalised homophobia)
duke x ted @amethystunarmed - duke is helping ted get custody for pete. duke is going through it. oneshot (part of a series)
i can safely recommend all of these fics, and other fics by these authors (even if they aren't listed here). happy reading!!! and ofc feel free to add recs in the reblogs!!!
#i already took up too much space but know that i'm gushing over all of these fics internally#npmd#nerdy prudes must die#hatchetfield#fic rec#jagertitty#lautity#lautski#lautskity#paulkins#queerleaders#is this about what i sent to the confessions blog like a month ago??

New to your blog, I was wondering if you have a Merlin fic rec list that's just your favorites. I unfortunately missed the Merlin fandom back when the show was airing so I always feel like I'm just missing the greatest stuff from other people
Hello friend! Welcome to my humble abode of a blog (which resembles more of a Merlin waste disposal). Like you, I missed the show when it was airing, but honestly when you stay as long in this fandom as I have, you will constantly be exposed to wonderful creative energies that give their all. It's a timeless fandom, one of the very few, and no matter when you enter it you will always feel fulfilled. :)
So, favourite fics! Gosh, how can I fit 2K+ bookmarks in one ask. When it comes to this fandom, I admit: I have no life. I've read a real huge number of fics throughout the years, but sometimes it's inevitable for fics to get lost in a sea of bookmarks. So to make things easier, I'll write you some canon fics that immediately come to my mind for how unforgettable they were.
No order; each one has its own chamber in my heart.
Short fic recs (1K-50K)
1. Our broken pieces by @aramblingjay. 10K, T, Canon Era, Hurt/Comfort.
Am I purposefully putting this one on top this time so that everyone who stumbles across this ask could check it out? Yes. Yes I am. Is it my personal mission for the fandom to give this fic the love and kudos it deserves? You bet it's a big overbearing yes. And yes I want you to cry and feel your heart twist with agony because of how beautiful it is. My eyes never shed tears for a fic before this one, and never will after it. There is something in the way the author broke Arthur that just resonated in my innards. And the way Merlin was there for him, not a placebo "I'm here" but there, in all actuality, doing so with every fiber of his love, made it something else. I like to believe that this fic was crafted so perfectly in a parallel universe, and sent to us as a blessing we never knew we needed.
2. Beauty in the Ashes of Our Lives by Fulgance. 21K, T, Canon AU, Magic Reveal.
This is probably the umpteenth time for me to recommend this fic, but I won't stop. I can't stop. This fic ruined me so slowly, and healed me even slower. All my Merlin friends do not believe why this would be one of my favourite fics of all time with what Arthur did, but honestly, it's the fact that the writer wrote it so convincingly that makes me crumble internally. It isn't easy to write angry Arthur, and it's even harder to write him grief-stricken, but here, the author blended both elements so perfectly. It's impossible to forget this fic. It's worth your every second.
3. Linger On Your Pale Blue Eyes by supercalvin. 18K, T, Canon Era, Touch-Starved.
Will this fic linger in your heart? It sure as hell never leaves mine. Every once in a while, I have to go back to this fic and read it like a morning paper. Some fics sustain you.. this is definitely one of them. Most of @supercalvin's fics are of sustaining material. They are made with such depth and broad understanding to the characters that you should take notes. There's this one line that everytime I cross this fic I instantly remember and I go to the nearest pillow to just AAA a little bit. When you reach it, I'm sure you'll recognise it, and I'll be waiting for you to come AAA with me.
4. Dower the Stars by RurouniHime. 40K, E, Golden Age, Pining Arthur, BAMF Merlin.
I don't think anything levels the levels of intimacy in this fic. It is one of the best Arthur characterizations I've ever read. His boundless love and pining for Merlin— oh my heart. Also, the world building and amount of research that must have been done for this fic is astounding. I was this close from following the author's footsteps and, idk, writing an entire research paper about Arthurian lore or something. The moment I read it I immediately wanted to contact the author and just tell them WHY ARE YOU BLESSING US WITH ALL THIS INSTEAD OF PUBLISHING IT?? It was amazing. I reread it a month ago for the third (fourth?) time and found myself gasping and aweing as if I never read it before. It keeps being an experience every time, one so worthwhile.
5. from hearth and ashes, we’re reborn by @remuscariad. 5K, G, Canon AU, Magic Reveal, Hurt/Comfort.
Earthshatteringly-poetic isn't a made-up word powerful enough to describe the beauty of prose here. There are fics that you open and immediately know that you're sold: this was one of them. Its summary alone dropped my jaw down to my neighbour's floor. The dialogue is so meticulously crafted it feels like reading a piece from a past era. Genuinely beautiful.
6. Half of my soul by marvelxpendragon. 2K, G, Post-Canon AU, King Arthur/Court Sorcerer Merlin.
This fic is half of my soul, as the poets say. So what if I reject the canonic ending and resort to pain myself with fics like this instead? I sometimes feel we, as a fandom, try to up the angst of the finale so that we forget how painful it was by bringing even MORE pain. But it's pain that I delight in, because it's pain that MAKES SENSE. Yes give me MCD but with a freaking beautiful life like the one this author gave us. Make me believe it was all worth something. Make me believe they lived.
7. whisper to the flame by @missfaber. 16K, E, Canon AU, Wounded Arthur, Hurt/Comfort.
*clears throat* *prepares for a mental scream*TELL ME HOW YOU LIGHT YOUR FIRESSSSS *clears throat once more and pretends I'm okay*
So, as the author wrote, this is indeed a love letter to the two characters we love more than anything. More than anything, I loved the fact that the author gave Arthur agency to think and act and be a king, even when he was still a prince. Even in most fics where Arthur already knows, this isn't common. So whenever I find a fic that has Smart!Arthur and a lovesick one at that, I would vouch my life and soul for it. Also Protective!Knights is the best thing in the world, ok? I would die for this discourse for real.
8. As a Sea Shell by bathilda bagshot (wellthengameover). 12K, T, Canon AU, Slow Burn.
Okay, so this fic is only bookmarked "Agony until 7 AM", and with that, a rush of drowning memories always come crushing my soul. I lost sleep and SANITY over this fic. I was thrown from a cliff and kept hanging in the air without a respite until the very END. I read it a couple weeks after the finale and it broke me even FURTHER. I was promised growing old together, and it was a big LIE. And yet I love it so, so dearly.
Honourary biased mention:
9. My heart is readily yours by yours truly. 11K, T, Canon AU, Protective Arthur, Hurt/Comfort.
Sometimes I don't believe I had it in me to write this. Like.. what, dearest self, the hell were you thinking. With tyismso, I somehow balanced fluff and angst— a solid magic reveal fic. But this one? I only knew ✨pain✨
.. and I don't regret a thing.

Celebrating TOA and the people who contribute to make our group what it is.
Repost, don't reblog. Only fill in what you feel comfortable sharing!
Happy anniversary, TOA! Here's to many more years spent together.
Name: Ashera
Pronouns: they/them
Birthday (no year): 6th June
Where are you from? What is your time zone? England, GMT
How long is your roleplay experience? I think it must be like 10 years technically
How were you introduced to roleplaying as a whole? Naruto OC roleplay on Google+
How were you introduced to TOA? I played FE4 and the brainworms took over, so I started following the genealogy tag on tumblr. I kept seeing posts about X character being accepted to the officer's academy, so eventually I looked into what that was all about.
Do you have any pets? No.
What is your favourite time of year and why? (Season, holiday, general period) My wardrobe is minmaxed for warm weather, I hate layers and I like having my window open, and having hours and hours of daylight. So summer.
What is your IRL occupation? IT.
Some interests and things you like/enjoy? Pixel art and cross-stitch, card games, social deduction games, doctor who, long walks.
What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? Zero escape, Aitsf, puyo puyo tetris, balatro, slay the spire, ace attorney, umineko, other vns.
Favourite Pokemon type & Pokemon: Delphox. I like dragon, fire and dark types.
Tell us some fun facts and trivia about yourself! (Optional bonus challenge: if you filled this out last year, try not to repeat what you said back then!)
I like dressing fancy. I regularly go to hang out with my friends wearing floor-length gowns, my grandad's boat cloak, and heels. I have a drag queen friend who sometimes gives me clothes he doesn't want any more, and it's great.
(Apart from the wrinkle where RD is technically my brother's and not mine) I own every FE game that got an English release.
I will always spell things the British way.
How did you get into Fire Emblem? At the time feh was released I was just playing every nintendo mobile game that came out. I thought the characters were cute and I found a second-hand copy of birthright sometime later. I then had to wait until Christmas to play it cause my brother's 3DS was broken.
What Fire Emblem games have you played? Beaten: Genealogy, Blazing Blade, Sacred Stones, Radiant Dawn, Shadow Dragon, Awakening, Birthright, Conquest, Echoes, 3 Houses, 3 Hopes, Engage Played a decent amount of: FE1, Binding Blade, Path of Radiance, Warriors
First & Favourite Fire Emblem games: First: Heroes/Birthright. Favourite(s): Genealogy, Sacred Stones, Radiant Dawn
List your 5 favourite Fire Emblem characters across the series! Laylea, Dew, Forde, Larcei and Jeritza. Maybe. I have too many faves.
Who was the first character ever to make you go “ooh I like this one in particular” and why? Can be any context and reason! I liked M!Robin's art in heroes and he was the first 5* I summoned. Also I fell in love with Kaden the instant I met him cause he's cute (unfortunately my Corrin was already married)
Any Fire Emblem crushes? Like so many. For brevity I'll give the biggest one from each game: Wolf, Sonya, Arvis, Karel (FE7), Joshua/Cormag, Nasir, Reina, Jeritza, Zelkov. Shout out to Arvis for being the reason I played FE4 to begin with, and Jeritza cause the morning he became playable and bisexual I went insane.
If you’ve played (or are familiar with) the following games, who was your first S support? Who would you S support nowadays? I prefer to S support a new character each run cause I like filling the support log. The only time I've S supported a character more than once is the bisexual ones in 3H. So instead I'm giving my first and my favourite. Also at this point I've played 3H so much there's only like, 6 characters I haven't S supported. - Awakening: First: Miriel, Favourite: ??? - Fates: First: Jakob, Favourite: Kaden, Reina, Mozu - Three Houses: First: Jeritza, Favourite: Jeritza - Engage: First: Zelkov, Favourite: Zelkov
Favourite Fire Emblem class? Swordmaster
If you were a Fire Emblem character, what would be your class and stats? Would you be playable? Mage cause they have cape. I'd have great stats (delusional)
If you were a Three Houses character, what would be your affiliation? (Black Eagles, Blue Lions, Golden Deer, Church of Seiros, Those Who Slither in the Dark, unaffiliated civilian, other - for example Almyran) Black Eagles.
If you were an Officers Academy student, what would be your boons, banes and potential budding talent? Boons: Reason, Axes, Authority. Banes: Heavy Armour, Riding, Faith. Budding talent: Faith.
If you were an Engage character, which nation would you originate from? (Firene, the Kingdom of Abundance; Brodia, the Kingdom of Might; Elusia, the Kingdom of Knowledge; Solm, the Queendom of Freedom; Lythos, the holy land of the Divine Dragon; Gradlon, the desolate land of the Fell Dragon) Firene.
How do you pronounce TOA? 🤔(separate letters, to-ah, other?) Tee-Oh-Ay
Current TOA muses: Forde
Past TOA muses? Larcei, Tine, Dew, Yune, Laylea
Who was your first TOA muse? If you no longer have them, can you see yourself picking them up again? I had Larcei for over a year and honestly I'm really happy with what I did with her (even if rereading her stuff makes me cringe). So as much as I love her I have no strong reason to pick her up... apart from that swordmaster drabble I never got around to.
Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) There's overlap between the 'old' and 'new' gens of my muses. There's a hotheaded sword girl, a mage with issues :tm: and a cute blond guy. I think I have an easier time writing characters that have a positive outlook, and say what they mean.
Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? Idk really. I don't think I'm that good at writing sad shit, so muses that have heavier stuff going on I'd struggle with.
What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) I like being a little silly. Some of my favourite posts have been where I've just thought up some nonsense, and allowed myself to write it.
Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? I want Forde to be obliterated emotionally. I do not care if these emotions are positive or negative.
Favourite TOA-related memories? SO many this group is awesome. I loved coming back after some time off and seeing what muses were still around. There's one in particular that Larcei and Forde are both close friends with and it cheeses me so much. Anyway happyland was my favourite event ever thank you mods.
Present or past tense? Present usually, but sometimes I use past don't worry about it.
Normal size text, small text, no preference? The most formatting I do is the occasional italics.
Got any potential muse delusions to share? There is *someone* who's been on my mind... (but really I have no strong muse thoughts at the moment, and I don't think I have the energy to double muse rn)

What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? Final Fantasy, Genshin Impact, Persona, Danganronpa, Pokemon, Tales of, Uchikoshi games, just to name a few. Also big into Otomes and BL games.
Favorite Pokemon type & Pokemon: Fairy! Favorite is probably Sylveon and Vivillon.
Tell us some funfacts and trivia about yourself! - I am an auntie to 3 adorable little nephews. Love babysitting them :) - Truly I am a girly girly girl. I love pink and cute things and all that goodness. Always have firmly believed that femininity is strength and anyone who disagreed with me has been ground to dust under my heels :) - I used to have a YT channel where I uploaded my own vocaloid covers. I stopped though because I lost interest and the videos gained little traction.
How did you get into Fire Emblem? *Deep sigh* Ike x Marth Yaoi during the Smash Bros Brawl days.... This was before I knew anything about either character and just thought they looked cute together.
What Fire Emblem games have you played? All of them except for Gen 2 of Genealogy (glitches killed that run) as well as Thracia. I'll get to them someday...
First & Favorite Fire Emblem games: My First game was Shadow Dragon. My favorite is a tie between Sacred Stones and Three Houses
List your 5 favorite Fire Emblem characters across the series! Ashe, Ewan, Nils, Nina, Dimitri
Who was the first character ever to make you go “ooh I like this one in particular” and why? Can be any context and reason! Wolf. This was because I was still young and just entered my "started liking boys that weren't squeaky clean" phase.
Any Fire Emblem crushes? 😳 Dimitri.. If you know me you know I'm down horrendous. Sorry kwdjwkdj. Chrom and Xander are also hot.
If you’ve played (or are familiar with) the following games, who was your first S support? Who would you S support nowadays? - Awakening: Chrom forever and always. - Fates: Tsubaki was my first. Nowadays its Xander, Jakob or Shigure. - Three Houses: Dimitri. Its always Dimitri. If I play BL and I don't choose Dimitri I have been killed and replaced. - Engage: Diamant was my first! I also really liked Kagetsu and Amber.
Favorite Fire Emblem class? Dancer!
If you were a Fire Emblem character, what would be your class and stats? Would you be playable? I'd be the cleric that needs to be babied at first but gives cracked heals later on. High magic/speed/resistance, low Strength/Defense.
If you were a Three Houses character, what would be your affiliation? (Black Eagles, Blue Lions, Golden Deer, Church of Seiros, Those Who Slither in the Dark, unaffiliated civilian, other - for example Almyran) Blue Lions baybeeeeeeee
If you were an Officers Academy student, what would be your boons, banes and potential budding talent? Boons: Faith Reason Authority - Banes: Axes, Brawling, Heavy Armor
If you were an Engage character, which nation would you originate from? (Firene, the Kingdom of Abundance; Brodia, the Kingdom of Might; Elusia, the Kingdom of Knowledge; Solm, the Queendom of Freedom; Lythos, the holy land of the Divine Dragon; Gradlon, the desolate land of the Fell Dragon) Wherever Kagetsu's from.
How do you pronounce TOA? 🤔(separate letters, to-ah, other?) To-ah.
Current TOA muses: Ewan, Nils, Byleth M
Past TOA muses? Uhhh from the top of my head: Saleh, Rolf, Nina, Takumi, Male Corrin.
Who was your first TOA muse? If you no longer have them, can you see yourself picking them up again? Ewan was my first! I don't think I'll be dropping him for a long time as he's just become so special to me :)
Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? Characters that put up a front of being easygoing or simple, but have a lot of inner troubles they hide from others. Those that like to make others happy.
Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? Very masculine types. Manly Men or Muscle Himbos are characters I greatly enjoy but just don't like to write.
What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? I like writing scenes where characters bond with each other, either over an earnest heart to heart or silly shenanigans.
Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? I would love to write a scene where the mask just fully crumbles and the entire truth is revealed about my muses deepest feelings. Also for Byleth specifically I'd love to write post timeskip scenes where he's in touch with his emotions and takes on the role of Archbishop.
Favorite TOA-related memories? A specific one was Andrei's turnaround on Ewan during the halloween candy game. It was one of the first major bonds Ewan would end up developing.
Present or past tense? I Try to say I'm past tense mostly but sometimes I jumble things up a little.
Normal size text, small text, no preference? I've started trying small text recently, but I'd say I have no real preference.
Got any potential muse delusions to share? 😉 Nope! I think I'm set for now. There is one character that, If the opportunity ever arises I'd want to get but not right now.

hiya everyone! the month of june is a big one for not only myself personally but also for this blog so we'll be celebrating a few things:
my own birthday on june 24th!
reaching 2k followers! (which is still mind blowing where did y'all come from)
pride month!
now i may not be a gif maker or edit maker, but i do want to celebrate by interacting with you all in the ways i know how! i'm going to be hosting what i like to call "roll for...?", a mysterious way to get stranger things content from me for the rest of the month. starting today, june 13, you can send me in asks for things to roll for (just make sure you go over the rules before sending in an ask pls <3)
if you're interested in participating, click the read more for the rules!
how it works:
i'll have the following categories to pick from: drabble, playlist, or aesthetic/moodboard. pick one of those categories and then select up to 3 of the following subcategories for me to roll specifics for: ship, trope, vibe/colors, length, era, crossover. whatever subcategories go unchosen, i can use if i want to! each of the subcategories will have a few options in them that i will then roll for to leave the final product up to the luck of the roll. if needed, any additional details will be left up to me! if you would like it to be entirely my pick, please select 3 ships listed below for me to choose from and i will take it from there. warning, some categories will be easier for me to combine than others (ie vibe with crossover might be challenging) so please take every post with a grain of salt. this is all just for fun. these will be posted as i can get them done, so feel free to send in asks whenever you want to! i will stop accepting asks for this project on june 30th but will probably still have things to post after that. all posts will be tagged with #rollfor2023 to help keep things organized.
important to know!:
if you have any triggers or things you wouldn't want to me to include, please let me know what to avoid. i'll honor it no questions asked. all drabbles will be rated anywhere from general to mature with absolutely zero explicit smut unless you tell me you are comfortable with it being included. overcommunicate with me and we'll both be happy campers!
subcategory specifics:
ship: 1. steve/eddie, 2. robin/nancy, 3. robin/chrissy, 4. jonathan/argyle, 5. joyce/hopper, 6. bee's pick of steve ship (platonic or romantic) trope: 1. enemies to lovers, 2. friends to lovers, 3. one bed, 4. the italicized 'oh', 5. soulmates, 6. bee's pick of shop au vibe/colors: 1. whimsical/pastels, 2. angst/dark muted, 3. hopeless romantic/soft pinks, 4. cheerful/bright & bold, 5. bittersweet/blues & greys, 6. angry/dark reds length (around a certain word/song count): 1. 100-300 words/3 songs, 2. 300-500 words/5 songs, 3. 500-750 words/8 songs, 4. 750-1000 words/10 songs, 5. 1000-1500 words/15 songs, 6. bee's pick era: 1. ancient greek, 2. 1980s, 3. modern/2020s, 4. 1800s wild west, 5. 1940s, 6. unspecified fantasy world timeline ala lotr or got crossover (all chosen from my favorites!): 1. moulin rogue, 2. across the universe, 3. bee's pick of disney movie, 4. grishaverse, 5. glee, 6. supernatural
an example ask (can copy / paste if you'd like!):
i would like a drabble with a roll for ship, length, and crossover. avoid character death and mentions of drugs.
i hope this makes sense, so please let me know if you have questions! i'm truly just wanting to do something fun for the hell of it because isn't that we're all here for anyway?! rejoining the fandom side of tumblr this time last year has been such a great decision. i've been able to meet so many of you wonderful people and remember what it's like to enjoy fandom spaces again without shame. best of all, it's gotten me writing again, which had been such a big part of my hobbies that i had pushed aside. getting back into writing as a way to express myself and make content with some fucking guys from some fucking tv show has made a massive difference in my happiness over the last year.

Hi!! Happy STS! How would one of your characters describe another one of your characters? For any ocs you want!
Happy STS (Storyteller Sunday)!!
I think the most interesting combination would be Parker and Gabriel on each other:
Gabriel: “Parker Cassidy is a lunatic. One of the most chaotic, reckless, careless people I know. No, he's definitely the most in all three of those categories. Never in my life have I ever met someone so impulsive. He's as much a danger to himself as he is to others. The only way I can sleep at night knowing he's here is taking comfort in the fact that he's not the pyrokinetic. Sure, Jazlyn can be reckless, but she has something Cassidy lacks: self-reflection. She knows when she goes too far and changes her actions. But that does not mean Cassidy's aerokinesis is not dangerous. He could suffocate someone, change the air pressure, or blow someone across the room. Not to mention his lack of self-preservation. He never thinks things through and makes 'humorous' statements at the most inopportune times. He's gotten in trouble more times than he can count. He's disrespectful, impatient, and has no regard for anyone or anything other than his own enjoyment and stimulation.”
Parker: “Gabriel is a hypocrite. Complaining about my lack of self-reflection? Pfft. As if he has any? He never learns anything it seems. He's the most stubborn person I know. Wade would call him 'static.' He claims I don't have any regard for others? Tsk. I have friends: Wade and Teo, namely. Does Gabriel have any? Like, before the Aequales, I mean? Not sure how anyone here can tolerate him to begin with. He's so boring! He doesn't like our Halloween parties and comes as the most boring thing ever. Like, 'a high schooler in a sheet' dude what is your problem?! Corrects our grammar, too. I don't even think he speaks proper grammar most of the time. He just likes to Be Right All The Time. Wait, did he call me impatient?! Holy shit, what is wrong with him?? He really cannot do self-reflection, holy shit. Gabriel is the most impatient person I've ever met. I cannot believe he said that about me. Every time someone is doing something slightly worse than him, he takes over! Because we 'aren't doing it properly'--go take a hike, Medina! Yeah, I get restless if nothing interesting is happening. He gets angry if things aren't going his way! How Robbie and Akash could give him a cutsy nickname like Gills is something I'll never understand.”
They set aside their problems for each other for the benefit of the group, but man, they get on each other's nerves. They hold it in usually, but in this particular scenario we'll pretend that they were asked by a third party individually and just had to let out a few years of annoyance.
The funny thing is, they're not that dissimilar from each other. As you can see, most of their problems with each other are flaws they have as well. What it comes down to is Gabriel's order to Parker's chaos clashing.

Knock, knock! I'm here to ask you about your lovely work! Don't mind if I just...
Ruin's Reprisal
A Deal of Daggers
Between The Lies
Fables of Fate
The Light of Darkness
Thank you, have a lovely day!!!
thank you so much for asking!
now, where to start? well with the top of the list I suppose as logic dictates, and it's also the work that's the most completed (and by that I mean im editing the second draft, everything else is only draft 1, if that)
Ruin's Reprisal in simple terms is a homage to all the fantasy books I grew up reading, and the one's I've read whilst drafting - it's in essence one big heist, lots of questionable morals (on the second protagonist's part more than most, aka Fenley), and a journey from losing everything to finding a purpose again, and the truth, or at least that's the case for Edeva, the main protagonist of the story, now what else is there to say? hm, there's fights, there's violence, there's betrayals and broken hearts, and magic - my interpretation of it, at least, and it's also a story of rebellion against the upper classes and the monarchy - it's the first story I ever wanted to write, and now about four years on it's almost complete, it's undergone a couple complete rewrites but I'm so happy with where it is now
A Deal of Daggers - this was the first time I ever tried nanowrimo, about a year ago, and I wondered if writing 50k words of something was possible (turned out it was, I'd hit the 80k mark by the end of it) and I fell in love with the characters and decided to keep on working through Christmas, then I sort of got side-tracked with Ruin's Reprisal, so that draft is about halfway complete, but knowing me by the time I get around to revisiting it (hopefully around autumn time) I'll fall in love all over again - but to tell you about the story itself, rather than a fantasy story I wanted something a little different, something more perilous, something darker - so, I ended up with an ex-assassin hiding her secret life from the man she is forced to partner with on a royal quest of sorts - an assassination ordered by the King, to remove the Queen, and that story's the amalgamation of secrets, forbidden desires, and the dangers of a society overrun by the underworld of crime
Between The Lies - well, I really wanted to step out of my comfort zone in this one, and tell a story in many different ways - through the eyes of a camera, transcripts, and most importantly, a journal - the journal of a doctor whose job it is to understand why a man killed the Chancellor of the country, and with a strict regime bearing down upon her it becomes a struggle to hide a secret of her own - she is not who she says she is, and the patient, the man under her care, has her figured out all too well - so to sum it all up, their lives are in each other's hands, and there's only a few days until the explosive trial which decides how their stories end
Fables of Fate - this one's much simpler than the rest, I wanted to test myself and see if I could write a novella, and I ended up writing three, which were prequels to two of the main characters of Ruin's Reprisal, and the background story of another character that readers will get to meet in it's sequel novel
The Light of Darkness - it's a ghost story, after watching Lockwood and Co, and being incredibly inspired by both that and Sherlock Holmes, I wanted to create a story that combined the supernatural with mystery - and that started with Emmeline, the main character, and the ghost hunter, who stumbles across Barnaby, a deserter from the military, in the middle of a hunt for a being that holds a clue to the mystery that her life depends upon - if she does not solve it, she will die. The two band together, after she rescues Barnaby, and he does his best to aid her and protect her from threats far more real than she is used to - society
and that's it, some stories are more developed than most but one day I hope to get them all fully fledged into novels!

Hello! Apologies if you have answered this somewhere, but I am new and I absolutely love your writing. Do you still write Band of Brothers oneshots or imagines? Or is it mostly your series? I am VERY excited to catch up on your series’, so I hope this doesn’t come across as rude. I was just curious. Also, would you ever write imagines of fics for Maters of the Air? Thank you for writing these wonderful stories!
Hi! Thank you so much for the ask and the love, I really appreciate it. Not rude at all! I haven't been writing much for the fandom lately, just some things here and there, but I hope to really get back into it during the summer once my schedule opens up a little. I have a relatively long masterlist of my one shots here and a list of my longer, chapter-based fics here (only one of which has been completed, In Defense of Chicanery, but I took down because I'm attempting to rework it into an original book. If that doesn't work out I'll put the fic back up in its entirety). I also post everything I've written (plus the occasional 18+ content) over on ao3 here.
I think I'll probably write more one shots before getting back into the longer fics to get my writing back into shape, but who knows? I'm also working on a fully original novel (separate from IDOC's new draft) that has seemingly ballooned into a trilogy over the last year or so. It's about WW2 paratroopers and the Airborne and the like, but it's my own original story with my own original characters, and I'm pretty happy with it so far.
I haven't seen Masters of the Air, and for some personal reasons, I'm not sure I will watch it—I won't be watching it any time soon, at least. I'm sure it's a fine show, but it's been made in a very different political climate than Band of Brothers was (though of course there are problematic aspects the making of BoB as well) and I'm not entirely comfortable with engaging with a show made in the present day that idolizes the American military, even in a historical sense. I struggle with that discomfort and my love for Band of Brothers sometimes, too. So I haven't watched MotA for the same reason I haven't watched Generation Kill and probably won't ever watch GK. I haven't really touched on my thoughts on this before - at least, I haven't posted about it.
Essentially, I won't be writing any Masters of the Air fics - but there are many, many amazing writers on here who are and who will continue to for a long time yet! One writer I can recommend right off the bat even though I haven't read her MotA fics (I have read almost all her other fics, though) is Killy, basilone/captainkilly on ao3 and @basilone here on Tumblr. Incredible writer. Go check her out!
I'm not sure who else of my mutuals has been writing MotA works but if anyone wants to add onto this post and promote their fics/another mutuals', go for it!
#boy this ended up being a long post#oops#band of brothers#lovely asks from lovely people#lovely anons

I’d love to know 26, 39, and 46 for the book/reading asks!
26. Give a recommendation!
I'll go by genre!
Young Adult Fantasy: @dianeduane's Young Wizards series. I grew up with Tamora Pierce's Emelan Series (set in a fantastical land, and is about found family between four teenagers) and Diane Duane's Young Wizards, and I love them both so much.
I love recommending Young Wizards to people, because it's modern world but with this secret (or rather more like hidden in plain sight) magical side. And all it takes is a book called 'So You Want to be A Wizard' for our heroes to become wizards themselves. I absolutely adore it, and whenever someone comes to me asking if there's a series like Harry Potter, I grin and say, "Oh, I got one that's a million times better" and proceed to shove this series into their hands. It stars Latinx kids, and it's full of magical adventures across time and space. It felt a bit like the series grew with me too, and when I go back to read it, it's like a comfortable weighted blanket. Plus it tackles a lot of different issues in imaginative ways, that really got me thinking as a kid. Love that series to death.
Science Fiction Adult: Tie between Species Imperative Trilogy by Julie Czerneda and The Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin. The Trilogy is a fantastic adventure of this poor Salmon Researcher, who ends up entangled in an intergalactic dispute between aliens, that quickly turns into a race to stop a deadly plot that would destroy all life in the galaxy. Czerneda is a biologist, so her alien species are FASCINATING and wonderfully diverse. Love it to death. Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin is an exploration of different ways of ordering society -- anarchism, socialism, capitalism. The main character leaves his anarchist society to explore these other societies. It's a pro-anarchist novel, but it also doesn't shy away from examining some of the complexities that can arise in anarchist society as well as the good and bad and neutral of other ways of ordering society. It's a fascinating book really.
Science-Fantasy Adult: The Broken Earth Trilogy by @nkjemisin. Damn, did the Broken Earth Trilogy hit me hard in so many good ways. This story is about the world ending for the last time, where a mother searches for her daughter, where her daughter seeks to purge the corrupted, where humanity itself is in peril, and where the world is hostile and in pain. This is a trilogy I'll never forget; I still think about it today; still dig into the text to uncover new nuggets; still ponder its themes. I just adored it.
Not-Sure-How-To-Classify: Light from Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki is probably one of my most favorite books of all time. It's about a violin teacher who must find one last soul to complete her bargain with the devil and save her own soul. It's also about a trans woman who struggles with homelessness and finding her way with her innate violin playing. And finally it's about an alien mother who hides her family on Earth but happens to fall for a certain violin teacher. How will the three help one another survive and overcome the pain and trauma they all face?
The prose is absolutely GORGEOUS. And how the music is described? *swoons* Ugh, love that book.
OKAY, I'M STOPPING MYSELF HERE. No more books to recommend else I just continue on and on. :D
39. Have you ever been in a book club?
Yes. Was part of a Black Lives Matter book club, which was eye-opening and I read a lot of books that taught me a lot. I have a list somewhere if folks want to peruse. It helped me grow as a person and be a much better ally.
I also was in an LGBT book club years ago. That was fun, reading all sorts of books with or about LGBTQIA people. I think one of my favorite reads from that book club is the novella by Becky Chambers's A Psalm for the Wild-Built, which is about a nonbinary monk tea-maker who meets and befriends a Wild-Built Robot in a solarpunk setting. Adorable book.
46. Who is your favorite author?
I have to pick?? Hmmm. Too bad, I can't choose one, so in no particular order:
Ursula Le Guin, Tamora Pierce, Diane Duane, N.K. Jemisen, Alastair Reynolds, Nnedi Okorafor, Julie Czerneda, Becky Chambers, Octavia Butler, Mariame Kaba (mostly nonfiction)...
okay, stopping myself. :D I just love so many books!
Thanks for asking!

LOOKING FOR A VERY INVOLVED BETA READER
Looking for a beta reader for:
Title: If We Never Make It Back to California: I Want You to Know I Love You (First of a series, unfinished)
Fandoms: Gravity Falls, Invader Zim, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (The second part involves The Owl House but the second part isn't public yet)
Other info: Before you ask, I don't have Discord.
Rated M, because I curse so frequently and there's some pretty involved angst and violence, but sexual material is kept to the absolute minimum because I'm NOT very comfortable with sexual content involving characters that are minors in canon. There's also very in-depth discussions of eating disorders, gender dysphoria, and slef-harm. Warnings include Graphic Depictions of Violence and Major Character Death.
The fic is intended for those who have seen Invader Zim in its entirety, and know important context from lost/deleted episodes. ETF and the comics, however, aren't really brought up in the fic. It will likely be confusing to those unfamiliar with Gravity Falls. You could possibly read and understand it if you haven't read JtHM or it's spinoffs, but it probably would hit a little harder if you're at least somewhat familiar with JtHM, Squee, and I Feel Sick. Lots of references to other cartoons.
Genrewise, I'd consider it a mix of just straight up fluff with angst. It has an underlying murder-without-much-mystery plot but it takes a backseat to some mundane, everyday things at times. It's a future-fic that I try to make somewhat trope-aware. It has a crossover ship (Dipper Pines x Dib Membrane) that very much started for Crack Purposes but at this point I'm extremely invested.
Summary (directly from AO3): "Featuring my horrid music taste, eighteen-year-old Dib Membrane drives across states to visit West Virginia, home of his future college. Professor Membrane doesn't approve, and complications arise after his mysterious and conveniently-timed death. But there's always a pair of paranormally-disadvantaged twins across the country for Dib to rely on. They always have their own problems, though, and the involvement of some of Dib's interesting extended family isn't helping his relationship with Dipper Pines- or maybe her relationship? Not even Dib knows. Either way, there are many possibly murderous road trips to be had, body insecurities to be unsuccessfully avoided, the occasional romantic drama for shits-and-giggles, and a coffee-shop side plot here and there.TL;DR: Dib and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Summer"
Common problems you may find: This is my first big fic and I'm not an experienced or "good" writer. I try to keep my spelling and grammar intact, though. I get ranty and occasionally stray out of character, though I try hard to keep it in character, because then what's the point of fanfic? I use crutch words like "smiled" and "sighed" a lot and I feel I may have pacing issues. I'm asking for a beta because I have no idea where these issues actually are, if I use them too much in certain parts, etc. I'm a panster and I tend to DUMP text on the page, accounting for the hefty word count I may need help knowing how to combine scenes or plot points. I also generally like knowing when I've accidentally done something rude, had a plot hole, or made a stupid/juvenile mistake. I also need new chapter names because I started the fic a long time ago, and chose exclusively lyrics from really cringey songs and haven't bothered changing just about anything. Plus I need to get some good foreshadowing in for part two.
Word Count/Update Info: Word count is 104,965 on AO3 but I will send you the link to my Google Doc, where it has the ongoing word count. You will see part two on the doc, but I am only concerned with part one for the time being. I update at least once a month, but sometimes two or three times. The fic is VERY close to finished and my projected word count for part one is 110,000.
What I'll do in exchange: My pretty exhaustive list of fandoms (both past and present) is: BoJack Horseman , Creepypasta , Daria , Doki Doki Literature Club , Five Nights at Freddy's , Gorillaz , Gravity Falls , Happy Tree Friends , Helluva Boss , Homestuck , Invader Zim , Johnny the Homicidal Maniac , Moral Orel , My Little Pony , Percy Jackson/Related R Riordan Books (it's been a while though) , Phineas and Ferb , Saw (Movies) , South Park , Team Fortress Two , The Amazing World of Gumball , The Owl House , Undertale and Deltarune. The only things I'm not comfy with are pornography specifically of real life people, pedophilia, incest, or underage. But otherwise that's alright. My max word count is 150k but other than that I will beta read anything in those fandoms.
Thank you!

my 2023 dnf list
these are the books i started last year and decided not to finish. if i'm bored with a book or i feel that it's driving me into a slump, i'm pretty harsh about moving on. sometimes a book just isn't for me!
warning: there may be spoilers ahead, so read at your own risk.
malibu rising by taylor jenkins reid
"Malibu catches fire." from the first few pages of Malibu Rising, the reader knows that the party to which the whole book builds up is going to reach a fiery end. the reader also knows that the fire was started by one person. having read all of TJR's previous books set in this universe, i had a pretty good guess who that person would be. (i have since googled it and confirmed i was right, lol). so basically i went into this book knowing what was going to happen... and then just had to read through the anxious buildup to that final event. and i found i just didn't care about the things that happened in the hours leading up to the party. some of the riva family's backstory was interesting, but most of the present-day story points were predictable. the only character with whom i felt a connection was nina riva (justice for nina riva! that woman has dealt with too much). also i admit i was particularly struggling with anxiety at the time that i read Malibu Rising—so maybe that timing worked to the book's detriment—but i found the length of the buildup far too long and anxious to get through, especially when i already knew the ending. i know that anxiety was intentional, but it dragged on, and the story failed to keep me interested during that time. eventually i said to myself, "why am i putting myself through this?" it didn't feel worth continuing, so i stopped reading and googled to confirm my guess about the person who started the fire.
i want to die but i want to eat tteokbokki by baek sehee
i talked about this book already in my 2023 mid-year book freakout post, but basically i felt this book was oversimplified mental health advice, none of which was new to me. the writing was oversimplified too, in my opinion. it didn't pull me in at all. i was bored by it! I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki had been on so many lists that i really thought i would love it, but i hardly made it through 20 pages before giving up.
all about love: new visions by bell hooks
i've heard such great things about bell hooks' work. i picked up All About Love at the library on a whim back in september, and it... wasn't what i expected. i wasn't prepared for the religious/spiritual references, among other topics. i didn't quite have the energy that month to dive into the details so i ended up returning the book without getting very far into it. i guess i wasn't in the mood for it. as i mentioned briefly in my september wrap-up, i think eventually i'll return to All About Love and give it a fair shot when i actually feel i can dive into this type of writing.
a dream life by claire messud
i actually did finish this book, but i'm including it here because if it wasn't so short i would not have bothered to read the whole thing. i was unfamiliar with this novella and author prior to reading A Dream Life; i happened to come across the book at the library. the story fell flat for me. it's a sort of cautionary tale about acquiring what's supposed to be the dream lifestyle. but of course, the life to which everyone supposedly aspires has its own string of complications that are more of a headache than a blessing, etc. it's your typical story of money creating new problems, so the characters finally decide to go back to a life they're more comfortable with. i thought this story was boring! the writing wasn't bad, but the message is nothing new. the storyline was predictable and slow. it did nothing for me.
that's it for my 2023 DNF (did not finish) list. i like this short review format! i could do a whole separate review list for books that i did finish (especially those fairyloot reads). maybe i'll post these more often.
if you've read any of these books, i would love to hear your opinions!

I wasn't gonna add to this post cause I am FAR from new here, but I've seen some older folks share their info, so I've decided to join in✨
(this got long so I'm putting it under a cut, you're welcome 😝)
hello! 👋🏻 I'm Hannah, a mid 30s woman with a massive love for everything Star Wars! I also enjoy a plethora of other nerdy things, including video games (mostly Nintendo), dungeons and dragons (huuuuuge Critical Role fan!!), other Disney franchises (including Marvel), and various cartoons (AtLA, Gravity Falls, TMNT, Transformers, just to name a few!). I'm the oldest of four, with my younger siblings being @jam-n-ham, @knight-tyme, and my social media averse brother LOL. I was diagnosed last year with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and depression, and it's been a very uplifting journey of recovery since then (am currently on Zoloft for the anxiety/depression, and it's been VERY helpful 💙). I'm very artistic and like writing, drawing, and making graphics. I also occasionally make gifs when the urge strikes; several of you have used them in various posts (you may have even seen some of my meme gifs during the TCW era LOL).
my passion project right now is a long-spanning self-insert series of stories set in the TBB show called "My Life With The Bad Batch". it stars, well, me, getting whisked away from my mundane life by our favorite group of defective clones and creating a new life for myself with them. there's romance, humor, drama, domestic fluff, and loooooots of hurt/comfort hehe. it's mostly canon compliant for now, but I feel like I might start veering away from canon come season 3 😅. I started writing the first story back at the end of 2021 and finished it midway into 2022; it was my first time ever finishing a long fanfic like that, and I'm very proud of it! the series now spans across 11 different stories and oneshots, with the twelfth currently in progress, and consists of nearly 270,000 words!! I've even made artwork for it! I haven't touched it since last spring, but I plan on picking it up again now that the hype for season 3 is at peak!! \o/
I've been a SW fan for most of my life, with the franchise in general being part of my entire life due to my parents being og fans (my mom was hype for ANH before it even came out!!). The Phantom Menace was my official intro to the franchise, so I have a huuuuuge affinity for the prequel era. TCW is one of my favorite shows of all time, and I adored the TBB episodes (even the unfinished version LOL). I admittedly was skeptical about an entire show about them, but I quickly fell in love all over again from the very first episode. the biggest surprise for me was Omega, as I wasn't sure if I'd like her or not from the trailers. she has now become not just one of my favorite SW characters, but one of my favorite characters period. the relationship between her and the boys is the best thing ever, especially between her and Hunter. speaking of which, despite Hunter being my favorite of the group from the very beginning, I didn't like, fall in love until the TBB show. and when I say fall in love, I MEAN IT. I haven't felt this way about a character in a LONG time. I would dare say he's at the top of my fictional Husband list, easily 🥰
I love TBB because they remind me of my own family. I'm Hunter, @jam-n-ham is Echo, my mom is Wrecker, my dad is Tech, my brother is Crosshair, and @knight-tyme is Omega. we've gone through similar struggles as a family to TBB (even going so far as my brother and I having a rough relationship for several years before reconciling), so that's why I'm really rooting for them to have a happy ending. it's been a LONG road to recovery for my own family, so seeing a similar result for my comfort characters would be the best thing ever. also, this show has helped me come to grips with my own personal struggles, particularly my mental problems. it was because of Tech and Omega's moment in The Crossing that made me finally decide to get an official diagnosis, so I'll forever be grateful for that. my life has literally changed because of this show and these characters; I can't say that about any other piece of media, honestly.
so yeah. if you're like me and can relate to the characters, then just know you're not alone 💙💙💙
If I have to take the title of Most Inconsistent Imagery/Crappiest Graphic Designer on Tumblr, so be it. 😂 But there are so many new peeps I'm seeing on here, and I'd love to hear from you! So if you're interested, would you be so kind as to reblog this with some fun stuff?
What you love about The Bad Batch?
If you're an artist, writer, creator, reader, etc?
What you love engaging with on Tumblr?
Any other fun facts about yourself that might create connections with others here?
💙
#started writing this up a few days ago and forgot about it OOPS#anyway here's some info about me for any newbs#or anyone who might be curious about some things#I've talked about most of this stuff before#but it's always good to restate it 😊#star warz#about moi

Moments That Bring Me Joy: Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope
I'm going through some of my favorite childhood movies and listing all the moments in them that bring me joy. I'm fully aware that many of the stories I loved as a kid are deeply flawed, but I just want to take some time to appreciate what they did well. Just because I'm focusing on the positive doesn't mean I'm unaware of the negative.
Note: I chose the word "joy" deliberately. Not all of the moments that bring me joy bring me (or the characters) happiness. Scenes involving death or pain might not be very fun or cheerful, but I find joy in a good story well told.
And here we are, the movie that started everything! I don't think it's an exaggeration at all to say that this movie changed my life forever. I could tell, as I went to bed that night when I was 8, that I would never be the same again. This movie has almost as much nostalgia for me as Episode I, because while I didn't watch it quite as constantly as that one, Episode IV was the first Star Wars movie I owned, so until I got the whole original trilogy and then Episode I, this was the one piece of the fandom I could consume...over and over and over again ^^'
You know, I really like Jawas and their chattery language.
"All right, shut up, I'll take this one." "Shutting up, sir."
"But I was going into the Tosche Station to pick up some power converters!"
"Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."
"No, I don't think he likes you at all." *sad beep* "No, I don't like you either."
Ohhh, that lovely Tatooine sunset... <3
Alec Guinness' Obi-Wan is just so...warm and comfortable to me. He really came into his own as my favorite in the prequels, but I love him as an old man too. I just love listening to the cadences of his voice as he calmly explains things to Luke.
"You know him?" "Well, of course I know him. He's me."
I really like that subtle, cold sound when Darth Vader chokes people. You might not even notice it at first, but it just supplements what you can see on the screen so well.
That moment where Luke stands in front of his burnt-out home, staring in horror at the skeletons of his aunt and uncle, while the Force theme swells....
"You don't need to see his identification." "We don't need to see his identification." "These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business." "Move along." "Move along, move along."
"He doesn't like you." "Sorry." "I don't like you either. We're wanted men. I have the death sentence on twelve systems." "I'll be careful." "You'll be dead!"
"Sorry about the mess." *flips coin at bartender*
Tarkin is probably my favorite Imperial officer (is it weird to have one of those? XD). He's just so...deliciously evil. And just look at those cheekbones!
"That's no moon. It's a space station."
"Who's the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?"
Luke and Han's argument about whether to rescue Leia or not is so good XD Especially "If you were to rescue her, the reward would be..." "What?" Well, more wealth than you can imagine!" "I don't know, I can imagine quite a bit."
"We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?" *cringes*
I love the misunderstanding when Threepio thinks they're being crushed with the garbage, but they're actually whooping in triumph and relief XD
Han pelting down the hallway, screaming bloody murder as he chases several stormtroopers...only to burst into an entire roomful of them!
The stormtrooper falling down the shaft before Luke and Leia swing across was Baby's First Wilhelm Scream :P For years, before I found out that's actually what it's called, I referred to it as the Stormtrooper Scream.
"Close the blast doors!" *five seconds later* "Open the blast doors, open the blast doors!"
The duel between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan has always been so epic and dramatic, but there's so much added weight to it now, after the prequels and especially after the Obi-Wan Kenobi show. It might not be as flashy as a lot of other lightsaber fights, but wow, is it powerful.
Endlessly useful, quotable line: "I care."
"You think a princess and a guy like me--" *too quickly* "No."
Biggs: "I can't see him!" - Why did my brother and I latch onto all the weirdest lines to quote incessantly in everyday conversation?
"Stay on target...stay on target...."
"Almost there...almost there...."
Han Solo swooping in at the last moment, knocking Darth Vader out of the sky with a space-cowboy "Yeehaw!" 8D
The exuberant, practically incoherent joy of the main three when they get back after blowing up the Death Star is just perfect. That's exactly how it is to achieve something amazing and then celebrate with your friends <3
