Could u do #33 for suki, thx your amazing!
the story - suki x fem!reader
pairing: suki x fem!reader
warning: none i think ???
notes: holy shit there is so much conan gray on my top 100 and by this point, i’ve done almost all of th kid krow songs this is hilarious.
and when i was younger, i knew a girl and a girl, best friends with each other,
you heard her laugh and suddenly your heart was doing summersaults like it always did when you heard it, no matter how long you had known her, no matter how much you had a heard it, you never got sick of it. there was just something about it, maybe it was just the sound of it or maybe it was knowing that the girl who had your heart was happy.
“you should’ve seen the other guy’s face, i-” sokka retelling of something that had happened to him while he was visiting the south pole got cut off by suki spotting you enter the jasmin dragon, eyes wide with excitement.
“y/n!” she waved to you, helping you locate your friends in the beautiful tea shop even if it wouldn’t have been difficult to do yourself considering your friends weren’t the quietest group of teenagers but it didn’t matter, it was a part of why you loved them dearly.
“hey guys.” you shyly greeted everyone as you finally reached them in the back of the building, not bothering to individually reply to everyone saying their hellos to you as suki shooed zuko that was sitting next to her, making a spot right next to the kyoshi warrior available. you mumbled a sorry to the new firelord but he dismissed it with a knowing smile.
“did you get lost?” suki whispered to you as sokka took the silence that had settled once you found your spot as an inventation to continue his tale, the girl now disinterested in the boy’s story now that you were here, eager to talk with you as you hadn’t been together all day, opting to try and find some of your relatives that you knew lived in ba sing se.
“no, just didn’t see time go by.” you whispered back, turning your head ever so slightly to answer the girl before pretending to listen to sokka’s story, staying silent as everyone interjected, asking questions in order to know more.
“was it fun?” after a couple of minutes of trying to pay attention in his story, suki gave up, wanting to talk to you again as she had missed you dearly throughout the day, not being used to spending that much time without you. being attached at the hip ever since you joined the kyoshi warriors meant you two stuck together through thick and thin, not being complete without the other being near them.
“it was! turns out i have like five cousins here but a couple of them moved to omashu.” you both turned your heads at the same time, fully investing yourselves into your side conversation rather than the one sokka was telling.
“do you think you’ll want to go visit them?” she tucked her loose hair behind her ear. you admired how beautiful her bare face looked, not always getting the possibility to see it for more than a couple of minutes before she’d go to bed or right before she got ready for the day. although you thought her kyoshi warrior makeup looked absolutely badass on her, you couldn’t help but appreciate the natural beauty that laid behind it.
“not sure, kind of have a job. it’s called being a kyoshi warrior, not sure if you’ve heard of it.” you teased, earning a playful eye roll and a shove from the girl, the smile never leaving her face.
“come on y/n, it could be fun!” she insisted, her voice going a bit higher than the rather discreet whispers you had been exchanging.
“what could be fun? what are you two talking about?” both of your heads snapped to whoever had intercepted their conversation, eyes landing on sokka with a huge smirk on his lips as everyone was staring at the two of you causing a blush to dust your cheeks while suki remained unphased.
“y/n has some more family in omashu.” suki explained, making you want to sink further into your chair once you realised this meant that instead of sokka carrying the conversation between the majority of the gaang, you were now the one who everyone’s eyes were on.
“you visited some family here right?” katara was the first to ask you questions, making you dread what you knew was coming. luckily for you, suki noticed your uneasiness and interlocked your pinkies under the table, a habit you had both picked up back when you were training and someone was nervous, it sticking between the two of you. simply having her pinkie against yours brought on a surge of confidence that seemed to appear out of thin air and all of sudden, you didn’t mind being the center of attention for a little while.
but always wished they were more, cause they loved one another,
“boo.” you heard a voice whisper in your ear, pulling you out of whatever dream currently was taking place in your slumber. your eyes shot open, being immediately met with blue eyes glinting with mischief.
“got y’a.” she smirked as she stood up fully, no longer leaning over your face in order to wake you up rather suddenly. you rubbed the sleep out of your eyes as leaned up on both your elbows, narrowing your eyes at your friend that took you out of your peaceful state.
“what the hell was that for?” you whined, voice still groggy for only being awake for mere seconds. before she could answer, you got yours as you simply registered what her face was decorated with. the white makeup that caked her face along with the red and black that surrounded her eyes was all you needed to realise you most likely overslept on what you thought was your day off.
“shit.” you mumbled, throwing the cover off as you stood up, suki moving out of the way to watch you scrambled around the room for your uniform as you were still in your pajama’s. arms crossed, same smirk on her face but it slowly morphed into one of adoration as she watched you mumbled curses under your breath as you wiggled into the kyoshi warrior uniform.
“why did you not wake me up earlier?” you asked in disbelief, not bothering to turn around so she could the annoyance on your face as you rushed to the bathroom to apply your makeup.
“don’t know, it was funny that you didn’t wake up to the bell. and i mean you did look too peaceful to bother.” the last part was mumbled as for you to not catch onto her feelings, she followed you to where you going, making sure to grab your headpiece and your fans as you left them behind.
“very funny suki.” you rolled your eyes as you went through your makeup routine as fast as possible. knowing you were too focused on getting it done as fast as possible with as much as accuracy, she let herself admire the way your tongue stuck out in concentration, the way your eyes narrowed in concentration.
“i must admit, it was a bit hilarious.” you sighed in relief as you put the last touch of the black eyeliner, putting the lid back on the pot before patting yourself down in order to make sure you hadn’t forgotten anything important to your uniform. once you realised you didn’t feel your fans or your headpiece you felt your heartrate pick up.
“shit, my fans.” you mumbled as you turned around. taking a few steps to take your missing pieces before finding your friend in your path, headpiece and fans in her hands, the second sigh of relief escaping your lips in the last couple of minutes.
“you’re a life saver.” you grabbed the headpiece and turned your head slightly to make sure it was placed perfectly on your head before taking the fans and placing them right where they belonged.
“i know, now come on we’re late.” she grabbed your wrist, erasing her love stricken face for a more friendly one before leading the two of you to your posts for the day, not too far from the firelord’s chamber.
but never discovered, cause they were too afraid of what they'd say
“hey y/n.” zuko greeted you as he stepped into his office, delighted to see you were the one currently on watch while he was working, happy to have a friend keep him company even if it was silently.
you simply nodded to the firelord, making sure to keep it professional as you were on duty as his bodyguard. you two may have escaped the boiling rock together, somehow talking so much during your arrest by azula that she ended up throwing you in there with suki, and you two may have ended the hundred year war but now he was the man you were supposed to be protecting and not your friend.
a couple of hours passed in silence as you kept your hands behind your back, the only noise being the turning of pages and the scribbling of notes by the firelord along with the casual chirp of the birds that flew around the garden bringing a small smile on your lips at the nice surprise.
“listen y/n, i know you’re supposed to be professional and all but, i’ve got to ask, what’s going on between suki and you?” this time the surprise wasn’t the lovely song of a native bird but of your friend asking a question that you hoped you never had to answer.
“suki is my fellow warrior, firelord.” your face didn’t waver from the stoic expression you had, the firelord’s inquisitive one being met with a wall of years of training.
“y/n, as firelord, is anything happening between suki and you? you’re in my castle so everything i say goes.” he insisted, watching your face drop, your eyes stating on your feet as you thought of the answer, not knowing if this was the place to finally open up to someone.
“and as your friend too.” he added, his gaze softening as to make sure you didn’t feel too intimated by it.
“i don’t know, i’ve just. all my life suki and i have been best friends but i just, i wished she was more than one.” your voiced dimmed throughout your answer, surprised at how easy it was to coax that out of you.
“you know she likes you too right? i mean it’s so obvious by the way she just becomes all soft inside at the sight of you.” zuko teased, his arm placed above the head of the chair so he could place his chin on it to watch your face more closely, not talking to you in a friendly way for awhile.
“she doesn’t, i know she doesn’t.” your eyes didn’t move but you noticed that your grip on your fans tightened.
“won’t hurt to try?” hope laced in his words as he still waited for your expression to change, knowing that a simple sentence of three words would resolve years of buried feelings between suki and yourself
“actually it would sir, it would ruin our friendship and she’d say the opposite of what you say.” you finally looked up, hoping that he’d catch onto you wanting to drop the subject.
“y/n-" he tried to reason but was cut off by a rather demanding tone that he’d never heard come from you before, a slight surprise in his eyes at the side of you he hadn’t seen yet.
“now if you wouldn’t mind firelord, i’d like to do my job.” it didn’t waver, no emotions could be perceived through the tone that you used, indicating that you didn’t want to go any further and thankfully for you, zuko dropped the subject with a sigh and turned back to his work, letting the silence take over again.
moved to different states
“y/n, you can’t leave!” suki argued, stopping in her tracks as you dropped the news of your planned departure as you two walked towards the throne room where the firelord had asked you to be stationed during a meeting with international leaders.
“can we talk about this later? zuko’s waiting for us.” you stopped and turned your head around, slight annoyance in your gaze as your friend was a few steps behind you. you continued to make your way down the hallway as you heard her hurried steps, you first felt happiness as this meant she was ready to focus on your task at hand but you felt her hand grip your wrist, now causing the both of you to stop.
“no! y/n, the kyoshi warriors need you! i need you.” she pleaded, feeling herself stress at the idea of being separated from you, not being able to see your face that always made her day better, not being able to make you laugh just to hear what she thought was the most wonderful sound in the world. despite constantly having to push down her romantic feelings for you, she’d rather hurt her heart than see you leave.
“suki, you and i both knew that just behind a bodyguard isn’t what i want to do, i know it’s kyoshi’s honour to guard the firelord now but i just feel unfulfilled.” you sighed before deciding to have the much needed conversation with her now instead of later, figuring that getting it out of the way would be beneficial for the both of you.
“we’re not going to be here forever!” she kept her grip on your wrist, afraid that letting you go physically would mean letting you go forever.
“but then we’re just guards for the rest of our lives! that may be something for you but when zuko started talking to me about the possibility of going down to the new developing cities in the old colonies and helping in their development just sounded like something i’d finally want to do.” you explained, just thinking about starting a new life in a town that was just getting on its feet was enough to make the ghost of a smile appear on your face, needing to be on your own, not being able to deal with what you thought were unrequited feelings for your childhood best friend.
“if thatll make you happy.” she mumbled, finally taking her eyes off of yours, not wanting you to see the hurt in her eyes at the prospect of you feeling that your job was pointless, and having to wake up without seeing your adorable sleepy face. her grip loosened.
“it will.” your eyes softening, trying to find hers again as you put one of your hands in one of hers, squeezing it slightly in hopes that it’ll comfort her.
“then that’s great.” she finally looked up, trying her hardest to blink back tears as you kept your fingers interlocked with hers, deciding to make your way to the firelord’s throne room hand in hand for what was most likely the last time.

You Burn First (zuko x f!reader) pt. 4
hii guys we really enjoyed writing this chapter there will be another ember island chapter so stay tuned for that :))
ao3 link
masterlist // chapter 1 // chapter 2 // chapter 3 //
Rays of sunlight fanned out behind her. If Y/n thought the capital city was boiling, Ember Island was even worse. The midday sun made her itch her to rip off her heavy combat robes.
“So you’ve packed the entire palace armoury. But you forgot a swimsuit?” Ty Lee said brushing her hand against Y/n’s long sleeve.
“This isn’t exactly supposed to be a vacation for me,” she responded, looking at the bag she held packed to the brim with stuff. Y/n knew she had a habit of being overly prepared. Suki and the others always joked that maybe she was a little bit too paranoid. But after everything that’s happened in her life, she couldn’t help it. If there was anything she could do to keep those around her safe, she would do it. Even if it meant looking crazy.
Her beach bag, also known as the Fire Lord Zuko emergency kit, swayed on her arm. It was filled with anything you could possibly think of. Y/n grew more concerned for the Fire Lord every day. It was her job after all. And nothing more than that. She was simply a bodyguard who cared about the person she protected. Maybe she stayed up countless nights worrying about him too. Wasn’t that normal? She thought to herself.
“Ok, so the pink swimsuit or the white one?” Ty Lee said holding up the swimsuits to her face. Y/n hadn’t taken the time to notice Ty Lee digging through her countless swimsuits on the bedroom floor of the house they were staying in. Ty Lee always had the most impeccable fashion taste. Y/n pointed at the pink swimsuit with little frills on the ends. This was sort of exciting for her. She never really had the opportunity to wear something so cute on a regular basis.
Y/n quickly changed into it and it met with the others in the living room. She walked over to where Zuko stood.
“Oh. You look…different,” he said, his face started to get flushed. It was strange they had barely been outside and he was burning already.
“Thanks?” Y/n was not sure how to respond to him. She was technically on official duty. Was she allowed to accept a compliment from the Fire Lord? She wasn’t sure if that even counted as a compliment.
“Wow, Y/n you look so cute!” Suki said. The colour of Y/n’s cheeks was beginning to match her swimsuit.
“Says you! You always look really nice Suki,” Y/n said, fumbling her words and desperately hoping that Suki did not notice how awkward she was.
“You’re darn right Y/n,” Sokka wrapped his arm around Suki and grinned.
“Wait, can someone tell me why Sokka is here again?”
“There’s a very simple reason---”
While he was explaining the purpose of his trip here, a loud boat blared it’s horn in the distance blocking out anything Sokka was saying.
“And that’s why I’m on Ember Island,” Sokka said, acting like everyone had heard him talk for the last 30 seconds. Y/n simply nodded and everyone followed.
--
“What’s in the giant bag Y/n? Little apple slices and extra towels for Zuzu?” Azula said while laying down a beach towel for Ty Lee.
“Actually yes. I brought snacks, sunscreen and swords. Just in case,” Y/n stated now slightly embarrassed. Was it too much? she thought to herself.
Next to Azula sat Zuko attempting to put sunscreen on his back. Azula really was right. Maybe she was more his babysitter than a bodyguard.
“I sorta need help applying it on my back,” Zuko said.
“Sure--,” she responded. But before she could fully answer him Sokka interrupted.
“Why didn’t you say so earlier, buddy! Sokka’s got you covered.” Y/n exhaled in relief that Sokka had volunteered. Would everyone get the wrong idea by her volunteering? She was just doing her job in protecting the Fire Lord.
While Sokka sat down behind Zuko, Azula said, “Why, isn’t that a forward way of asking Y/n to rub your back.”
“Azula, stop teasing them. You promised me we would sightsee!” Ty Lee grabbed Azula and took her away. Y/n was incredibly grateful for that.
“Later losers,” she winked and with that, they were gone.
Her attention was drawn back to Zuko, who had just shouted in shock as Sokka slapped the sunscreen onto his back.
“You don’t need to slap it! You’re getting it everywhere!”
“We’re in the sand! And this way it spreads faster! I put lotion on this way, don’t worry about it,” Sokka shouted back at him, aggressively rubbing the sunscreen onto Zuko’s back.
Suki appeared next to Y/n, laughing, “Yeah, and Katara keeps telling you to stop doing it that way. You got it in her eye last time.”
“She doesn’t understand efficiency,” Sokka said, standing up. He nodded proudly at Zuko’s now protected skin, satisfied that his friend wouldn’t burn.
“Wanna check him out Y/n? Bodyguard’s seal of approval!”
Y/n blushed a little at Sokka’s phrasing. She glanced quickly at Zuko, whose face was also slightly red.
“Um, he looks fine to me,” she muttered. “If he does burn though, I’m holding you responsible.”
Sokka gasped in mock offence, “I’d never allow that! I know how sensitive our precious Fire Lord’s skin is. Plus, I know not to mess with a Kyoshi Warrior.”
Y/n smiled at his comment. She could see Suki rolling her eyes at him out of the corner of her eye, but she was smiling as well.
Getting up from his spot on the beach, Zuko said, “Alright, are you done making fun of me? You know I can have you all banished. Who knows when I’ll snap.”
Sokka slapped his shoulder again, “I will never be done making fun of you. You owe me for all that time you spent trying to kill me!”
“That was years ago!”
“And it still hurt!”
Y/n leaned over to whisper to Suki, “Are they always like this?”
“Always,” Suki sighed. She let them bicker for a few moments longer before cutting Sokka off. “Okay! What do you both want to do on the beach? Sitting alone in the shade is off the table, so don’t even think about that.”
Zuko frowned, “That felt directed at me.”
Ignoring Zuko, Sokka flung his arms up in glee, “We should play chicken!”
“Chicken?” Y/n questioned.
“Yeah! That game where you sit on someone’s shoulders and try to push another person off of someone else’s shoulders! Trust me, it’ll be fun!” Sokka replied.
Y/n glanced at Zuko, who looked just as hesitant as she felt. He shifted nervously in the sand. Zuko being anxious about the game flipped a switch in Y/n, and she looked back to Sokka.
“Okay I'm in,” she said.
“Really?” Suki questioned. “I’m surprised you’re willingly relaxing. I thought you didn’t know how to.”
Y/n rolled her eyes at Suki, “Please, I know how to relax. Going along with Sokka just seems to be the most painless option.”
Zuko chuckled at her comment. Y/n started to smile at him, before realizing what had exactly happened. He had laughed. That was the first time she’d ever heard him do that and it had been at something she’d said. Up until this moment, he’d only ever lightly smiled at her. Y/n wasn’t sure how to feel about this development.
Oblivious to her crisis, Sokka was trying to decide the teams.
“Obviously it should be you with me, Suki! We’re a great team! Romantically and tactically!”
“I understand that! But isn’t it a little unfair for Y/n and Zuko then?”
Sokka made a face like he was thinking deeply and stroked his chin, “Fair enough, fair enough. Zuko and I do make a killer team too! Or should I pair with Y/n and challenge myself with an unknown teammate?”
Sensing the danger of Sokka trying to decide his teammate, Suki grabbed Y/n’s arm, “I’ll pair with Y/n. Kyoshi Warriors vs…”
“The Boys! No wait, The Swordsmen! Wait, Fire and Water!” Sokka shouted.
“I like the second one,” Zuko said.
“Is a team name that important?” Y/n asked.
“Just let him have this,” Suki whispered to her.
Y/n shrugged and the group walked towards the crashing waves. She’d never played this game before and was a little worried. She was also hesitant to go too deep into the water. Despite living on Kyoshi Island for most of her life, she wasn’t exactly an experienced swimmer. Before her panic could settle in, water was splashing just above her elbows.
“This seems deep enough! Alright Zuko, let’s go!” Sokka said, already starting to climb onto Zuko’s shoulders.
“Sokka, wait! Give me a warning next time!”
Y/n turned to Suki, “Would you do me the honour of climbing on my shoulders and knocking your boyfriend into the ocean?”
Suki dramatically put her hand over her heart, “I would love nothing more.”
Suki climbed onto Y/n shoulders much more gracefully than Sokka. Making sure she was balanced, Y/n got ready for the game to begin. She watched Sokka balancing himself on Zuko’s shoulders, allowing herself a smile as Zuko tried to blink out the water that kept dripping into his eyes. Their eyes suddenly connected and her smile turned into a challenging grin. Zuko smiled back at her, silently accepting her challenge.
“Alright, get ready… Go!” Sokka said.
He and Suki began pushing at each other’s shoulders. Y/n quickly realized how hard it was to keep her balance in the water and her feet slipping in the sand. She could see Zuko coming to a similar realization, his own inexperience showing. Despite that, Zuko held her challenging gaze. Y/n felt her competitiveness flare and she tightened her grip on Suki. No way was she about to lose to the Fire Lord.
Their game only lasted a few moments longer, ending with Suki landing a particularly hard shove against Sokka’s collarbone. He toppled back off of Zuko, causing water to soak the back of Zuko’s head. Suki let herself slip off of Y/n’s shoulders while laughing in victory. They exchanged a high five and Y/n looked back at the stunned Fire Lord in front of her. Caught up in her victory, she offered her hand to him.
“Good game, Fire Lord,” she smirked at him.
Zuko stared at her offered hand for a few seconds, before grasping it with his own and smirking back. His hand was warm despite the cool water and his grip firm. Before Y/n could release his hand, a wave hit her back, pushing her into Zuko. The water went up to her neck and a sharp panic shot through her. She’d forgotten her inability to swim amidst the excitement. Her panic clouded her mind and she reached out blindly in an attempt to ground herself. She only realized what was happening when she felt a warm hand on her back.
Y/n blinked, her eyes focusing. In her panic, she’d grabbed for the closest solid object. That had just so happened to be Zuko. They were standing in a poor imitation of a hug, her hands gripping his shoulders and his hands on her shoulder and back. He looked down at her, concern evident on his face.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
His voice quickly cleared Y/n’s mind. She pulled her hands back from him as if she had been burned. Her reaction caused Zuko to drop his hands from her as well.
Floating back and face burning, Y/n hugged herself, “I’m fine. I’m just not used to waves and swimming.”
Zuko furrowed his brow, “You can’t swim?”
“No. I’ve never needed to learn. It’s not like there’s deep water at the palace. You don’t need to worry about me not being able to save you like this.” she replied curtly.
“I didn’t mean-”
Y/n turned away, cutting him off. She knew that was incredibly rude but she couldn’t handle talking to Zuko anymore. Her face was still flushed with embarrassment and anger now. She’d never been that close to him before. She didn’t know why it bothered her so much, she was his bodyguard. It was expected that she’d get that close to him. Y/n ignored the fact that it was supposed to be to save his life, not to hug him out of fear.
“Suki!” she shouted. Suki’s head popped out from underwater, followed by Sokka’s. “I’m going back to the beach. You keep swimming.”
Suki looked mildly concerned but gave her a thumbs up. Y/n began trudging through the water towards the beach, but Zuko caught her by the elbow. She whipped her head around, anger in her eyes.
“Wait,” he said. “I’ll come with you.”
“You don’t need to-”
“Yes, I do.” he paused, thinking. “I want to keep you company after that. You seem pretty shaken up.”
She frowned at him. He gave her a shaky smile.
“Besides, you’re supposed to be protecting me, right? It’d be irresponsible to leave me alone out here.”
“You’re with the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors and a close friend of the Avatar. Not to mention you’re literally the Fire Lord,” Y/n deadpanned.
“You think that you’re not capable of protecting me then?”
Y/n narrowed her eyes at him. She recognized his challenge as an attempt to apologize without embarrassing her further. She sighed.
“Fine, come sit with me. I’ve heard how much you like to sit in the shade and brood.”
“That was one trip!”
Together, they walked back towards the beach.

Magical Avatars Au
Okay So I thought this would be crACk but actually, it would be a very good AU so yeah let's get started.
-So there’s Six elements that Raava gives, Light, Energy, Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. I think Raava has to pick every thousand years.
- let’s Talk about our Avatars, Wan element is Light. His kind of the outcast and keeps to himself a lot (His shy). His actually pretty clever and his only involved in philosophy club that’s it and is a Senior in high school.
-Korra element is water, she’s the school athlete though only a sophomore, she’s made a name for herself in the school and is very popular. You’ll see her in workout clothes and comes late after practice.
-Aang element is Air and is a freshman, he just got out of middle school and is a nervous mess, Korra and Him met when she was taking a class meant for freshman because her schedule was messed up. Aang warms up to Korra quickly, and so does Korra.
-Roku element is fire, is a Junior and the class president basically one of the smart kids, his often in the announcements and his electives being the student helper. His the goodie-two-shoes and tries to be the calm one.
-Kyoshi element earth and is a senior, student activist hands down. She’s also in her poetry club, She and Wan actually talk, and she wants Wan to show himself more and be more active in the school.
-Amy element is energy, she’s a sophomore she moves to the area from a different state, (She doesn't come in until later) she’s a sweetheart. she’s into fashion and is in the 2nd Orchestra and plays the violin.
-Raava can change her from any time she wants, so she goes with a white cat with blue eyes, Wan while walking home sees the cat and takes it home with him Tbh It’s kinda like sailor moon.
Wan; HOLY SHIT THE CAT CAN TALK!
Raava: Yes, what of it?
Wan: Ugh Cats don’t do that...
Raava; Well, I’m Raava and I’ve been looking for you Wan for a very long time
Wan: How do you know my name!?
Raava: I’ve been watching you...
Wan; That’s creepy, A talking cat watching me...
Raava: But- never mind
Wan: I am fucked up right now, holy shit, Okay Wan snap out of it, you're in a daydream.
Raava; No, you're not in a daydream, Actually you're in real life.
Wan: Nope! I must be hearing things, All I wanted was to help a cat and this is the crazy shit I get..
Raava: Well, no, Listen. Repeat the words I’m saying, I call on the power of the Avatar state.
Wan: That doesn’t even make sense!
Raava: Just do it, and all your answers will be solved.
Wan: Fine! Ugh, I can’t believe I'm saying this but I call on the power of the Avatar state! (transforms)
Wan: (Looks in the minor) AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Raava: Are you done?
Wan: What the hell! My hair, I have a goatee! What am Iwearing
Raava: It’s your Avatar state, you are the protector of light and peace-
Wan: What the Fuck. Holy shit. What the hell, What the actual fuck. This doesn’t answer anything.
Raava: Wan listen to me you are chosen for a very important task, Vaatu the spirit of chaos and darkness, has to awaken once more and he will use the forces of evil to kill humanity. It is your and five other elements to stop him.
Wan: Ugh, I’m in my last year In high school and applying to college, I don’t think fighting the forces of evil is what a normal 17year old guy would do... I don’t even think I could be good at this thing-
Raava: You have the most powerful element of them all, and you are their leader.
Wan: Leader!? Now you got the wrong guy. I’m just a guy who’s trying to get through the hell hole called high school.
Raava: you must accept your destiny, Wan.
Wan: (transforms out) Sorry, you got the wrong guy.
Raava: Very well, I will accept that for now. But I will be here.
Wan:fuck.
-Raava hangs around, being invisible to everyone else around him, Wan tries to go through daily life with school work but he couldn’t help to see vaatu’s kiss on people's neck. When they get this marking awful things can happen, it can bring out the worst in people.
-Aang is being bullied by this girl named Azula who just so happens to be where Wan can see it and she has vaatu’s marking. Wan couldn’t stand by so he intervenes drawing attention to himself and pushing Azula back. Azula gets away, Wan is late to class but he doesn't care and helps Aang get to his class.
-At lunch, Wan and Kyoshi are talking and she heard the rumor that he helped a freshman fast and questions him about it. Raava meanwhile licking her paws like a cat, then Kyoshi asks
Kyoshi: WHy is there a cat next to you?
Wan:What the-
Raava: Hello,
Kyoshi: Wan, what is going on? I knew something was up when you helped that freshman.
Wan: Kyo, how can you see her?
Kyoshi: So you admit it.
Wan: Fine, this cat is raava, she’s trying to make me into a magical girl.
Kyoshi:(buts out laughing): Like solar moon? or pretty cure? Wait please don’t tell me it’s like Madoka Magica....because if it is that incubator is going to get it!
Wan: Shut up.
Raava; It’s Avatar, and your one too.
Wan:I’m not an Avatar, damn it!
Kyoshi; Avatar? ooh, now I’m interested.
-Kyoshi transforms in the bathroom and instantly loves it, Wan doesn’t. Kyoshi takes a liking to her new powers.
-Roku is next, then Korra and Aang. Wan stays in the sidelines while everyone else goes in until one fight where he couldn’t stay in the sidelines anymore since all the avatars; took a hard hit by Vaatu’s demons. Wan couldn't let his new friends get killed so...
Wan: I call on the power of the Avatar state! (Transforms Makes a sword and kills the demon)
Kyoshi: Thank god. Took him forever.
-Wan eventually accepts his new powers, book 1 would be mostly embracing it and him learning how to be a leader.
The sixth element isn't introduced until later.
@old-and-new-friends Thanks for writing the prompt I just wanted to expand on it and maybe make it into a fic...Idek.

Can I ask you foe the ro's reaction to this?? Mc: anyway, this zodiac sign thing is ridiculous, how could you believe that the stars are going to change your future?? They obviously put vague predictions in there so it applies to anyone. Soo... What are you? Ro: *insert zodiac sign here* Mc: OMG WE'RE SOULMATES!!!
Isnsiajsb Sorry For Late Response as Always!:
HyperLink: HyperLink shuffles awkwardly at the initial comment, tugging at her choker as she smiles with a glint of reluctance, “Yeah! What did you think dummy? Stars and celestial bodies don’t do anything to your fate, besides regular science stuff!”
She cautiously chuckles, blushing before answering their question, “Huh? Well... uh... if you really want to know, i think I’m a... Cancer?”
Her ears shoot up as the MC shouts, slightly shooketh, her face burning red, “What!? Uh... I mean... well... oh man...” She mumbles more, confused at her influx of thoughts, speaking under breath, “S-soulmate? Oh... maybe those daily astrology thingies are true...”
Romancia: The mechanic chuckles as the MC starts off the rant, but keeping his eyes focus on the bottom of the car that faced him. He slides out from beneath, wiping off the sweat as he replies, “Astrology is a fun stupid thing to do once in a while, gets Drago riling up if you mention it near him heh.”
He takes a moment to swig down a bottle of water, but does raise his eyebrow as the Mac asks for his own sign. He shrugs, smiling, “Okay kid, I’ll indulge in some stupid fun, Capricorn.”
But as the MC shouts their reply, Romancia unfortunately takes another swig, almost spitting out a waterfall as he manages to keep it in and swallow. He leans on the side of the car, grinning, “At least I’m on the top of your soulmate list then right? Maybe zodiacs are true... only this one time though~”
Jumaz: The cheetah Lupinethrope leans back on his chair as he listens to the Mc’s rant, grinning the whole time as he patiently waits to see where this is going. He leans on his hands, staring back at the MC directly, “I guess you’ve been hanging out with the Scientist crew I presume? Heh, I personally find zodiacs stupid, but we live in a world where you exist, so anything out of this world can be proven real~”
Jumaz chuckles at his own flirt, but soon returns his attention back to the MC, his ears perking at the comment but the corners of his mouth still curling up for his smile. “Oh, I see where this is going, fine, I’ll play your game kid~: Scorpio.”
Despite the MC’s sudden shout, the cheetah seems unwavered, with the exception of his grin widening. However, with one quick motion, he has his paws under the MC’s chin, “Good~ But you shouldn’t care for any of that star sign stuff... because you’re the only sign of a star that I’ll care about.”
Nii: A blade in one hand, the chef wipes off the meat juices of her knife, setting it aside for the moment as she takes a moment to hear the MC’s comments. Adjusting her glasses, Nii turns back to them, though slightly concerned. “Hmm, you do make a point honey, but like I’ve said, people have their own individual opinions on astrology.”
She tilts her head at the following comment, eyebrows raised, yet her mouth still forms a warm smile, “Oh? Well, it’s been a while since I’ve checked, but... I think I’m a Pisces?”
Though slightly spooked by the MC’s shout, Nii still upholds her smile, walking over and lightly pinching the MC’s cheek. Giving a little smooch on their forehead, “Well that’s curious! But, you don’t need zodiacs to already know facts, dear~.”
Wulff: The raven carefully ensures that the roast safely enters the oven before turning back to face the MC. Taking off his apron, sits by the MC before he answers, keeping a careful glance back at the oven, “Never really understood the meanings of zodiacs anyways, probably won’t, probably never.”
He takes a sip of coffee from the MC’s cup, looking back at the MC for further conversation. And luckily for the avian, the question would further their discussion: “My own? Hmm, like I said, not sure, but Yanziel always pesters me for being a ‘Hardass Leo’.”
The chef fully turns his attention to the MC after their shoutings, a slight amusement tinging at his face. He places a hand on their shoulder, still sipping their coffee, “Well, that’s nice don’t you think? So is that what zodiacs consist of? Because if that is, I’m interested, please tell me more~”
Yanziel: The detective rests her legs upon her desk, a mini frown on her face as she opens her mouth several times before closing it directly right after. Soon after a solid minute, she finally speaks, “Come on MC! You’re not suppose to take zodiacs that seriously, it’s just a fun thing to think about?”
Despite her slight disappointment with the MC’s opinion, her head shoots up as the mention of what her zodiac might be. Grabbing from underneath her table, the snake Lupinethrope showcases her own illustration of her star sign, “My sign? I was waiting for you to ask for it! I’m of course the awesome Sagitttarius of course!”
But her eyes expand even more, her whole body crawling upon the desk, her body laying down by now. Her face beaming with joy, as obvious by her face being a few millimeters close to the MC’s own. “What!? Really!? Soulmates!? AWESOME!!! Wait wait! Let me try to guess your one!”
Graves: The shark takes a moment to process what the MC said, not out of confusion or that sort, because she was busy going ham on a punching bag. She soon finally gives the MC a glance of recognition before answering, “Yanny would be pissed if she heard what you were saying,” though, she soon faces away from them, a slight glint of blush arising, “... but, uh... nah yeah, astrology pfft who cares about that crap?”
However, hearing the following question, she doesn’t seem to move an inch, answering instantly, “Aries.” But soon, her hands are covering her mouth, though her intense change from grey to red skin at her face wasn’t noticeable to the MC.
Her back still facing towards the MC, the shark prepared the bag for more further abuse by her fists. “Oh? Cool, I guess. I’ll just return to my bag then, rookie.” And slams goes her fist, but what isn’t shown?: her face blushing mad with pink and red, her mouth whispering under the impacts. “T-those readings are true!”
Kyoshi: The quarter-fox, polishing his rifle, tilts his head in intrigue as he listens in onto the MC’s rant. He stops for a moment, finding himself lost in thought before adding in his own perspective, “Well... uhh... I think... no no, definitely know that HL reads on astrology. She’s a scientist right? So wouldn’t that mean... means it’s somewhat correct?”
But as the fox loses himself on a quest to find the answer of ‘is astrology an actual science’, he breaks out for a moment to process the MC’s question. “...hmm? Wah...? Oh my own? I mean I don’t... wait maybe... I think it’s Virginia - Wait no! I mean Virgo!”
Though concerned and blushing red from his mess up, he gets even worse, his skin finally blending in with the orange of his fox ears. Almost to the point where he nearly drops his rifle, yikes, “S-S-Soulmates!?!!?!? But! I don’t! Wait what!?!?!?” For the next 5 minutes, he becomes a bumbling mess.

Character Arcs of ‘Clever Strategist’ Archetypes: Nara Shikamaru and Sokka
One of my favorite character archetypes is the ‘clever strategist’: the tactician who is poised during battle, and yet has a developed sense of humor that prevents them from taking life too seriously. It is no surprise then that Shikamaru Nara (Naruto) and Sokka (ATLA) are two of my favorite cartoon characters.
Though Shikamaru is naturally smarter given his 200 IQ and has a more aloof and relaxed personality, Sokka is more innately humorous and has a personality seeking out social avenues that draws attention. Shikamaru is strong side character, while Sokka is a main character.
However, there are several things these two have in common, even down to their similar appearance:
Sons of leaders who hold high expectations for them
Are talented with blade, think outside the box during conflict
A more realistic outlook on life, sarcastic and dry humor
The ‘warrior’s wolf tail’ like ponytail
Strongly influenced by women in their lives
Below, I will discuss how their character arcs both mirror foil each other in regards to development. In the end, they both become capable leaders because they are able to come full circle.
The Need For Growth- Mindsets Preventing Shikamaru and Sokka From Reaching Their Potential
Shikamaru, the boy who did not care enough.
“Lazy because I don’t care.”
Shikamaru right off the bat is an intelligent child that does not want to be burdened by responsibility and working hard- he would much rather look at the clouds and daydream than spend hours training. It is said in the Naruto manga during the Chunnin Exams that Shikamaru could become the next Hokage, only if he applied himself. Thus, Shikamaru needed to grow in regards of his work ethic and lazy streak, as shown by his ‘giving up’ against Temari (she is no slouch though!).
Where Shikamaru does well, and is something Sokka actually lacked at first, is a strong sense of self. When Choji as a youth was made fun of for his weight, Shikamaru defended him and cited that he was a friend. The advice he provided Choji, and inevitably many others, is that “..being yourself is important.” Shikamaru never cared what other people thought and always sought to instill this mantra in others. So while in this case ‘not caring’ is a good thing since many often worry about conforming, Shikamaru had to learn a lesson in caring enough to grow as a ninja.
Sokka, the boy who cared too much.
“Maybe its better to sometime call it quits before you fail.”
Sokka has the opposite start to his character arc- he cares too much about what others think of him, which may not always be evident, However, this is explicitly made known when he brings up wanting to be a warrior like his father, and being denied that opportunity early on. This stems into his joking about his waterbending sister Katara, compensating for his lack of bending skills. Sokka throughout the series would rather call it quits than fail miserably simply because he lacks complete confidence in himself.
“Meat and sarcasm that’s all I got,” is a mantra that Sokka humorously uses throughout the ATLA series. While on one hand, his humor provides the group great relief and leadership keeps them organized and ready, it also displays Sokka at first has more initiative and drive compared to Shikamaru. He may joke now and then about certain things, but Sokka was always very protective of Katara and this reflected in his need to be protective of others. Though Sokka needed to develop confidence, his care for others was beneficial.
Women, You Say? Having Their Worldview Changed Due to Headstrong, Female Characters
According to Shikamaru, women are troublesome. He is correct.
Shikamaru’s outlook regarding women begins when he watches his parents’ relationship, noting that his mother is nagging his father. In his usual detached manner, he states that ‘relationships are too burdensome,’ and that ‘women are troublesome.’ He grew up with a headstrong mother, and decided early on that relationships weren’t him. His stubbornness, however, was challenged when he met Temari.
Temari is a definitely a confident girl who has no problems speaking her mind. She is first introduced to Shikamaru during the Chunnin exams, to which she takes down a lazy Shikamaru who wasn’t giving his best efforts. He later comments on her scary, but beautiful smile, a similar message that his father once described as why he loved his mother despite being nagged at. She ends up saving him during a mission, and later goes to the hospital when he’s hurt to see if he’s okay.
In a way, Shikamaru is correct that women can be troublesome, but they will “show their softer sides to a man they love.” What Shikamaru really means is that he wanted to avoid being challenged to grow, which is what Temari pushed him to do, sometimes forcing. She showed kindness and care for him alongside her wit, allowing for Shikamaru to be emotionally vulnerable and let his guard down. He needs a motivator and sort of push sometimes to get going, which over time, Shikamaru secretly found enjoyable.
According to Sokka, women cannot be warriors. He is incorrect.
Sokka, similar to Shikamaru, held a false view of women, only for him it was a bit more sexist. He believed that women could not be warriors, which of course didn’t go over too well with Katara. Having Katara for a sister, he eventually came to realize, did so much for him in absence of his mother. Despite her waterbending prowess, it was not until meeting Suki and the Kyoshi warriors did his stance regarding female societal roles change.
Suki was the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors when Sokka met her, and boy did she kick his ass. After being humiliated by her in combat, Sokka swallowed his pride, admitting that she was the better warrior and asked for her assistance. Because of her presence, Sokka’s viewpoints were challenged and made him gain much respect for a female’s fighting capacity.
Sokka also came to be good friends with Toph, a rough around the edges girl of the upper Earth Kingdom society that didn’t fit into the traditional feminine norms. Having Toph on his team also reinforced the notion that not only are women just as capable as men at bending/fighting, but also that femininity and gender roles cannot be pigeonholed into one definition. Like Shikamaru, Sokka was incorrect about his viewpoint on women, but the difference here is that he had to allow himself to be mentally open and challenge his internalized belief system.
The Catalyst For Change- The Events That Invoked Shikamaru’s and Sokka’s Leadership Potential
External circumstances out of Shikamaru’s control drive him to change.
External circumstances drove Shikamaru’s character to develop further, and the main one being was the loss of his team leader, Asuma. Asuma died in battle against Hidan in order to save his team, and no one took the loss more than Shikamaru. In fact, he ended up smoking for a bit in honor of his fallen mentor and refused to stop smoking until he got revenge on Hidan. With Asuma’s death, he learned that what we care about can be taken away in an instant.
In a way, his battle against Hidan, a seemingly immortal being, proved Shikamaru’s prowess on the battle field, but really showed his potential as a leader. Being driven by Asuma’s death allowed for him to find a groove and realize that we cannot run away from our responsibilities. Responsibilities will always follow us, but they do not have to be burdensome. And working hard, he came to realize, would help him protect better those he cared about.
The pivotal moment after he defeated Hidan is when he visited Asuma’s pregnant wife Kurenai, a talented ninja in her own right. While meeting with Kurenai, Shikamaru points out in a touching scene that he would be there for her and Asuma’s child and offer support. The once distant and reluctant to lead Shikamaru stepped into his leadership role by understanding that lives will be at stake during conflict, and we cannot keep our head in the clouds forever when challenges arise.
Internal circumstances within Sokka’s control drive him to change.
A lot of Sokka’s strife is internal, relating to his concerns over not being a bender and what his role is in the group. Things come to a head while they are traveling in the Fire Nation, finding himself yet again the butt of jokes and feeling as though he’s the odd man out. After expressing his concerns to the group, Sokka decides to tackle his worries of becoming a warrior (namely caring too much about what others think), by trying to train with Master Piandao, a renowned swordman.
Though Sokka lucks his way into getting Piandao to agree, he still doubts his skills and even after training with Piandao a bit doubts that he could be a swordsman. But, through his clever thinking and patience, Sokka learns during his painting sessions and forging his meteor sword that he doesn’t have to be ‘what others want him to be’ but rather, who he would like to be. This gives Sokka the revelation that although he is not a bender, that does not make him less valuable than the rest of the team.
His new confidence allows for him to beat Master Piandao in a sword fight, finally admitting that he’s from the Water Tribe and just wanted help. Here is where Sokka learns what it means to be a true warrior- one that fully understands and accepts themselves. He did not have to gain any skills other than realizing that his unique skills make him valuable. By the time he rejoins the group, Sokka is much more confident and begins to lay the plans down to end the Fire Nation’s scheming.
Clever Strategists Who Come Full Circle and Make a Difference
The lazy but brilliant boy who became the seventh Hokage’s main advisor: Shikamaru.
During the start the Shinobi World War, Shikamaru is asked by a council to discuss potential war strategies, showing that his reputation as an intelligent leader had grown. He becomes the Fourth Division’s co-leader, which is something his former self would have complained and been reluctant to take on. Having to take on his former teacher proved daunting, but Shikamaru was the one ending a resurrected and possessed Asuma- he kept his word.
And of course, Asuma again imparts advice to him, proud of his leadership. Tragedy strikes when he finds out his father has passed during the war, but in a touching moment, he thanks his father for being a good example and takes on the duty of becoming the chief war strategist. Having to deal with a father’s death is tough enough, but when the Ten Tails emerges, Shikamaru is able to lay down a plan and make sure the Ten Tails is delayed to prevent it from killing countless shinobi.
In the end, Shikamaru becomes the seventh Hokage’s main advisor. With his analytics and organization, Shikamaru is able to keep Naruto more organized and often handles duties to lessen the Hokage’s load. Not bad for a guy who simply wanted to stare at the clouds and be lazy.
The goofy meat and sarcasm guy who became a warrior leading the SWT and a Republic City councilman: Sokka.
After forging his meteorite sword, Sokka is able to find some peace within and accepts himself as a competent leader that has his own quirks and ways about doing things. His true leadership potential is shown during the Day of Black Sun. Sokka’s investigative work and determination helped to prevent many from being captured by Azula’s trap. Though Sokka wasn’t able to free the prisoners, he resolved to do it in the future, which he helped do. Unlike previous times, he does not dwell as much on his failures, but convinces himself he can do it.
Being in charge of destroying the Fire Nation airfleet was Sokka’s big moment. When things got tense, he steered the airship they were on in a particular manner, then having the crew through the floor hatch. This clever move allowed for the abandoned airship to collide with others, while him Toph, and Suki escaped at the ship’s top. He is able to save Toph from a falling death with his sword, while having a broken leg. And despite that, he kept fighting outnumbered until Suki arrived with help.
Sokka, after the war, became the Southern Water Tribe’s leader and a Republic City councilman. And based on the Legend of Korra references, Sokka was able to remain influential in both his homeland and the outside world. Not bad for a guy who only had sarcasm, meat, and a boomerang.
