Reconnecting with an idol 15 years after they changed your life is a hell of a headtrip. What happens when this person you built up into a near deity is just some guy?
#a lin original#i'm back in touch with my sixth grade writing teacher#the person who got me into writing and also made me an amazing copy editor#(yeah most of the stuff i know about punctuation and grammar i also knew at age 11)#(yes i was insufferable; how did you guess?)#and like! he legitimately changed my life so much!#and he's also a grumpy old white man who doesn't know very much about queerness and whatnot#although he's willing to learn#and he can be crabby and pompous and i guess i remember that from being his student?#but it's weird as HELL to know him now that i'm an adult#and part of me is like 'damn i should have left you as a treasured memory'#remind me never to reconnect with the guy who shitty knight reminds me of#because that's another person i have on a pedestal and i don't want this to happen again
