thinking about my beloved OC Ben Grier who’s an actor who plays a fictional science fiction villain on TV. And he eventually spirals because as it turns out the character he’s playing and the TV show he’s acting in is a very real parallel universe to his real life. so the longer Ben plays fictional murderous space Pirate Jack Allston, the more he starts to feel all Jack’s grief, hatred, pain, trauma, and regret himself. And Ben feels as if he has to live with everything terrible Jack has done, because it feels like he did it too. But because Ben is so kind and sensitive (just a very talented actor) he can’t take it he can’t take it he can’t take it!

Disney+ Halloween Movies for Kids: The Best Family Films to Watch This Spooky Season
https://ift.tt/34Fe5tZ
It’s the season for thrills and chills, but if you’re planning to watch movies with your kids as Halloween approaches, you might not be looking for the scariest horror films. Luckily, there’s plenty of family friendly fare on Disney+ to add some spooky to your Halloween season.
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
When you’re looking for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow on Disney+, it doesn’t come up on its own. The short from 1949 was released in tandem with another short based on the Wind in the Willows. The combined films were released under the full title of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and that’s exactly what you have to type in to get it to come up.
The story, which is based on Washington Irving’s original text, tells of the ill-fated romance between schoolmaster Ichabod Crane and Katrina van Tassel in 1790 Sleepy Hollow, New York. When Katrina’s unofficial fiance discovers that Ichabod is superstitious, he tells the story of the Headless Horseman—and Ichabod, on his ride home, encounters a pumpkin headed spirit. The next morning, Ichabod is nowhere to be found; a shattered jack-o-lantern and his hat are all that remain. While some younger viewers may find the tale distressing (Disney didn’t pull punches back in the 1940s), those with a taste for ghost stories will happily enjoy their shivers.
Trick or Treat
What happens when Huey, Dewey, and Louie come to Uncle Donald’s for trick or treating? Donald’s full of tricks! Luckily, Witch Hazel takes pity on the nephews and helps them get their just desserts. This 1952 classic is only nine minutes long, so it’s a great short to open your Halloween family movie night! You can also pair it with the 1937 “Lonesome Ghosts” (Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in a haunted house), or the creepy 1936 short, “Thru the Mirror,” an Alice in Wonderland inspired Mickey short.
Mr. Boogedy
This 1986 Made for TV Disney Sunday Movie may bring back childhood memories for parents! In it, a family moves to a spooky New England town only to discover that their house is haunted. The two Halloween-loving parents are inclined to believe that the hauntings are just a practical joke from the creepy old man who runs the town’s historical society.
The kids, on the other hand, are determined to get the evil ghost—a 300-year-old pilgrim whose spurned love caused him to sell his soul to the devil for a magic cloak—out of their house once and for all. With kid heroes (and the creative use of a ghost-fighting vacuum cleaner), this one might be so bad that it’s good.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Yes, technically this is a Christmas film, but there’s not a lot that’s Halloweenier than Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, and the monsters of Halloween Town taking over Christmas.

Christmas Movies on Disney+ Streaming Guide

Released in 1993, this stop-motion animated film from producer Tim Burton was originally deemed “too scary” to be released under the Disney label, but in the years since, it’s become a favorite, especially of older kids and their parents. The characters Jack Skellington and Sally have plenty of reach beyond the original film too, appearing on t-shirts and other accessories worn to celebrate this time of year.
Coco
Coco isn’t officially a Halloween movie, either, but it’s a great way to celebrate both Hispanic Heritage Month (which runs until Oct. 15, 2020) and Dia de los Muertos. Miguel just wants to play music, but in his family, it’s forbidden. When he steals a guitar from a crypt on Dia de los Muertos, he finds himself transported to the land of the dead, surrounded by the beautifully painted skeletons of his dead relatives.

Putting the Christmas Back in The Nightmare Before Christmas
By Tony Sokol
Unwilling to promise he’ll never play music again, Miguel goes on the run, helped by a scoundrel, Hector, to reach the one person Miguel believes will get him home. This Pixar film hits all the right notes when it comes to family, to music, and to learning how to accept and love people for who they are. It also has alebrijes: beautifully colorful magical animals that assist both the dead and the living through their trials.
Hocus Pocus
Possibly one of the most hotly debated family friendly Halloween films, this cult favorite of the 1990s features three sibling witches who were executed in 17th century Salem (so the witch trials were justified in this world?). But before their deaths, they declare they’ll be resurrected if a virgin lights a magic candle.

Hocus Pocus 2 Finds Director

Flash forward 300 years and a teenage boy finds a way to set them free. There are a lot of ribald jokes throughout, likely to go over the heads of young viewers, and the sisters really are wicked. (Early on, they suck the life out of a little girl and doom her brother to being an immortal black cat.) While for some families, this is a hard pass, for many others, it wouldn’t be Halloween without watching Bette Middler put a spell on you!
Escape to Witch Mountain
There are no actual witches in Escape to Witch Mountain (1975) and its sequels. Instead the first film revolves around two foster children, Tony and Tia, with special powers. When an “uncle” appears to bring them home, they realize he’s a villain who wants to use them, and they escape. Over the course of their adventures, they discover their true heritage: they’re aliens.
Tony and Tia’s adventures continue in Return from Witch Mountain, and the 2009 remake of the first film, Race to Witch Mountain, stars Dwayne Johnson as a cab driver who helps the two alien children (renamed Sara and Seth) to their destination.
Frankenweenie
Another Tim Burton stop-motion film, Frankenweenie tells the story of boy Victor Frankenstein, who resurrects his pet dog, Sparky, but is then blackmailed into telling other neighborhood children the secret behind reanimating their pets. The black and white animation and the somewhat creepy content makes this one better suited to tweens than the younger set, and parents will enjoy the homages to classic horror films in Burton’s storytelling.
Halloweentown Series
If you’re looking for a movie marathon, you might check out the Debbie Reynolds-led series of Disney Channel originals about a town full of witches, demons, skeletons, and goblins. The first, Halloweentown, came out in 1998. In it, 13-year-old Marnie is incredibly frustrated because her mother won’t let her celebrate Halloween. As it turns out, it’s because Marnie’s mother and grandmother (played by Reynolds) are witches; Marnie’s mother wants Marnie to be a regular mortal, but her grandmother wants to train her before she loses her powers forever.

The Unmade Beetlejuice Sequels
By Simon Brew
After overhearing their argument, Marnie is determined to get to the bottom of her history, so she follows her grandmother back to Halloweentown where she gets embroiled in the quest to find a talisman that will undo a demon curse on the townspeople.
In Halloweentown 2: Kalabar’s Revenge, Marnie, now with two years of witch training under her belt, has to undo a warlock’s plot to trap everyone in the mortal world as the creatures of their Halloween costumes. Halloweentown High features Marnie bringing several Halloweentown teens, disguised as humans, to her mortal high school, posing as exchange students from Canada. In the fourth film, Return to Halloweentown, Marnie (played by a different actress) decides to attend Witch U in Halloweentown for college.
There’s not a lot of serious food for thought in these, but the scare factor isn’t terribly high, and it’s notable as a Disney Channel Original movie series that ran for four films.
Monsters Inc.
For the younger set, there’s nothing better than Monsters, Inc. to bring shivers and giggles together in one film. This is the story of two roommate monsters, Sully and Mike, who work together at the scare factory. One day they find their lives derailed when a human child (supposedly poisonous to monsters!) comes through one of the closet doors that monsters travel through to scare children. They’re determined to get her back safely, with no one the wiser, and end up uncovering not only a huge conspiracy, but a new source of energy for monsters.
The prequel Monsters University hits some of the same scare and humor notes (with a great lesson on embracing who you are, and the skills you have, rather than trying to become something you’re not). If you’ve only got time for one, though, pick the original, and be prepared to hear your kids say “Mike Wazowski” over and over…

Glenn’s a Goner...
Rounding up a week in Hollyoaks (15th-19th October 2018)
It’s time to hang out the bunting and get the party poppers out as Glenn Donovan is no more! After several months of being thoroughly unpleasant to all who have had the misfortune of encountering him, Glenn was finally bumped off this week. As the week began, Grace and her fellow wags were planning on tricking Jay Johnson into doing their dirty work for them, and with Roxy finally onside, it looked like the plan might just work. However, Jay spotted Grace and Roxy in cahoots and quickly worked out what was going on. Needless to say, Jay was furious and planned to do away with Grace, but he had a change of heart when he learned of the months of torment Glenn had put Grace through and agreed to help her. Heading back to The Loft, Grace, the wags and Roxy celebrated Glenn’s demise over a glass of champaign, but it soon transpired that their celebrations may have been a tad premature...
Tumblr media
After completing their job successfully, Jay pulled out a gun and prepared to shoot. Unfortunately, he himself was gunned down by Liam, who chose just that moment to return to the village to greet his Father. However, there was no time for loving Father-Son reunions. Realising that Grace had set him up, Glenn was out for blood, and stormed over to The Loft to confront her. On this occasion, the presence of the other WAGS meant that Glenn was prevented from killing Grace but he promised them all that he would be coming for them. With Glenn on the warpath, the wags knew they had to get rid of him, and fast. Luckily, Kim and Simone had a plan...
Tumblr media
Inspired by Agatha Christie (who does not work in Price Slice, despite Maxine’s insistence), Simone suggested that they poison Glenn, with each of them adding a little something to his drink, that way, no one person would be responsible. Kim was able to get hold of some drugs from the hospital and divided it up into 5 vials. As everyone gathered at The Dog for Glenn’s birthday party, the wags saw their chance to strike when Glenn took to the mic to make a speech. One by one, the wags approached Glenn’s unattended beer, however, we saw that only some of the group actually emptied their vials. The fact that some wimped out didn’t matter, though, and Glenn soon collapsed outside the pub...
Tumblr media
No one bothered to attempt CPR and Glenn was quickly carried away in a body bag. However, as Kim went to dispose of the vials, she realised that one was missing. The worst was yet to come as it was discovered by Liam, who took it straight to the police. Having seen Kim acting strangely at the party, Liam came to the conclusion that she had killed his Dad, and gave her name to the cops. Kim was soon taken in for questioning, where Roxy informed her that finger prints had been found on the vial Liam had brought in, however, they were unable to establish who they belonged to. After Roxy pointed out that Liam would not let the accusation drop, Kim decided to take the blame, asking Roxy to doctor the results and tell Liam that the finger prints belonged to her. Keen to help, Roxy agreed, and offered not to put a warrant out for Kim’s arrest until she had had enough time to flee the country. After an emotional goodbye to Farrah, Kim headed to the bus stop, where who should be sitting there, but Rick Astley! Farewell, Kim!
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, there was more drama for the Hutchinson’s as Dee Dee’s condition continued to deteriorate. With the little girl having frequent seizures, Tony and Diane were told that Dee Dee needed to be put into a coma in an attempt to stop them. 24 hours later, the doctors were preparing to bring Dee Dee round, but Diane and Tegan couldn’t stop arguing over what was best for her, leading to Tony locking them in an office until they could resolve their differences. The two women soon made up, but there was more bad news when the doctor informed them that Dee Dee had developed an infection and her weakened immune system meant she was struggling to fight it off. Tegan, Tony and Diane dissolved into tears as they were told that Dee Dee may not make it through the night...
Tumblr media
Elsewhere, Donna-Marie was back in the village and once again demanding money. It didn’t take long for her to spot James and she briefly considered telling him the truth about Romeo. Meanwhile, Romeo found a way to resolve his Mum’s money worries when he decided to blackmail Harry over his affair with James. Harry confided in James about the demanding letters and James soon worked out that Romeo was responsible. However, with Harry having called their affair off, not wanting to cancel his wedding whilst his family were going through hell with Dee Dee, James offered Romeo a deal - he would give him the money he needed if Romeo helped him expose the affair at Ste and Harry’s wedding...
Tumblr media
In other news this week, Joel, feeling rejected by Cleo, slept with Goldie but instantly regretted it and left the village. Finally, Jack found himself on baby sitting duty again but little Steph proved too much for him and he asked for Breda’s help. Breda was happy to give her assistance, but this annoyed Leela, who found the trio enjoying lunch together at The Bean. Having told Leela that she was too busy to mind Daniel for the day, Breda had to come up with an excuse fast. Luckily, Jack did the work for her, telling Leela that they were on a date! Leela quickly worked out that they were having her on, but she enjoyed watching them squirm, so invited Jack round the following day. After a rather awkward coffee, Leela admitted that she’d been having them on, and told Breda that she didn’t mind her working for the Osborne’s too.
Tumblr media
5 Things We Learned This Week:
1. If you want someone dead, just do it yourself. I’ve loved watching the wags plot Glenn’s demise, but Glenn himself is an absolute tool and we could have been spared weeks of him being despicable if only Grace had have killed him like she wanted to originally.
2. CPR is not important in the Hollyoaks universe. After Glenn collapsed and stopped breathing, Liam was very quick off the mark to declare him dead. Not one person tried to help. Not that I’m complaining. I’ve wanted Glenn gone for ages!
3. It’s amazing who you can meet at a bus stop in rural Cheshire. Loving Rick Astley’s little cameo in Kim’s final scene!
4. Now that Liam’s gone all gangster, he could do with hitting the gym. He couldn’t even bang Misbah’s back door in (*snigger*) as he attempted to look for Kim.
5. It’s easy to forget you have kids sometimes. We’re in October now and the year’s nearly over, but this week saw little Steph Cunningham make her first appearance of the year. Where’s she been hiding all this time? Off spending Tom’s millions somewhere?

Khromatos History
The Khromatos Family of Ventus.
The Khromatos name itself has been around for centuries, but originally was only the name of a Noble family, not one of Royal blood. The small community it helped lead traveling across lands in search of a land to settle. Eventually hearing of Atlas’s founding, and deciding to join the Kingdom in the snowy continent.
Once deciding to settle on an island west of Atlas, a vote was passed for the Khromatos family to take the role of their Royal Family. Thus founding the small Kingdom of Ventus alongside Atlas. The first leader of Ventus being the current heir to the Khromatos family at the time.
Giulia Khromatos.
Giulia Khromatos, First Queen of Ventus and the first Khromatos to have grown the extremely rare Quilin trait of the “Qilin Tendrils”. Giulia was also the first to be born with two traits, as she had the signature tail of female Qilin Faunus, and the “Tendrils”.
After having been wed to a man named Dom Garcia, Giulia became pregnant with the child who would be born as he first Prince of Ventus, Regis Khromatos.
Regis Khromatos, First Prince of Ventus, would grow to be the King who lead Ventus during Remnant’s great War. Following which, Regis’ Queen, Aine Gae, would birth the third royal child of the Khromatos name, and the first to be given a color based name as the rest of the world had begun to do in respect and remembrance for those lost in the war, Santos Gast Khromatos.
Santos would become the first in a family tradition of giving Khromatos Descendants color-based middle names instead of first-names.
The Khromatos Family would be mentioned by others from outside Ventus by their middle-name and last name instead of their first name from this point on.
Generations would come and go after Santos, each one ruling Ventus happily and in peace for most of the post-war times. Eventually, however, this would change.
As time passed, the Twelfth King, Sebastian Charco Khromatos, and his Queen, Sap Valerie, would bring the future “Tyrant King” into being as their only child.
Manus Aesce Khromatos.
Once he had taken the Throne, Manus would begin to change various ways in which Ventus confronted many things. Their peaceful meetings with other kingdoms and countries going from their usual peaceful, and rather generous, ways to those of threats and violence. The rules set for civilians to follow becoming more strict, and the consequences for breaking the laws of Ventus becoming more severe.
Eventually, Manus would take a bride, Cres Marnie, in hope of bringing about the next Heir to the Khromatos lineage. Their son, the current Prince and heir to the throne, Samuel Shade Khromatos.
After two years pass, however, the corrupt King would proceed to enter into an affair with a civilian of Ventus. A woman by the name of Aligar Kaj. Their first of these meetings resulting in Aligar becoming pregnant with Manus’ second child. Though it wasn’t until two more of their “Meetings” had passed that he would come to know this.
Once aware of such, Manus would have Aligar become one of the maids to the Royal Family. Keeping her to smaller chores and jobs about the mansion to keep the truth of their relationship a secret to the Queen.
As time came for Aligar to give birth, it also came time for Aligar to pass on. The child’s birth putting too much strain on the woman’s body. Though the mother would manage to hang on to life the best she could till after her baby was born. Sadly only able to speak one last word to the maid Harley before death would claim her. Smoke.
With the mother dead, Harley would name the daughter of her friend. Giving the child the name of Emma Smoke Khromatos. Though, knowing the Queen should not learn of the truth of Emma’s conception, she gave Emma a second name. A “Fake” name. The name that she would be known as and called by the King, Queen, and Prince. Smoke Kaj.
Originally, within the first hour of the child’s birth, Emma’s eyes were an extremely pale peach. But as the first hour passed, her eyes began to fog over, eventually becoming the pale glazed white that they have been her entire life since. This change would be the first sign Harley would receive as to the blindness that the child was born with. The confirming fact being how much the child’s eyes would shift from the slightest sounds, and never look at one specific spot or another in later years of their life.
Upon reaching the age of four, to assist her with navigating about, Emma developed a very minimal Semblance. To any who looked it seemed to be a Semblance based around balance, as whenever she would trip, Emma would not fall. Instead, she would correct herself to an up-right standing position. Thus allowing her to continue walking as she was before.
Navigating the world would only become easier for Smoke the next year thankfully, as it was son after her fifth birthday that she developed what she and Harley call “Aura Sight”. Her dark world suddenly being filled with the light of the Auras of living beings, both human and animal.
Later the same year, it would become even easier for the child to get around in the world. She would suddenly begin seeing pulses of her own aura surging outward from her form. The thin white waves of her Aura rushing over her surroundings and leaving a temporary lingering presence of her aura that would stay for a split second before fading. The objects once covered no longer being visible to her until another wave of her Aura would flow over them. Eventually she and Harley would even discover that such addition to her sight seemed to be connected to her heart beat. Each contraction of the life-giving organ causing another wave of her aura to surge from her.
It was at this time that Harley would begin training Emma. Teaching her to become a maid like her friends and Harley herself. Teaching her some more basic recipes, how to make specific drinks, etc. She kept it to basic tasks at first though with the young girl’s lack of true vision. Only moving to more advanced tasks and recipes after she had begun to get used to different scents and sounds as her queues when something is done or needs to be tended to.
During this time was when Emma would first truly meet her Father, her Brother, and the Queen outside of merely hearing their voices in passing, or short quick glances at their Aura’s when walking past them with Harley. Eventually even becoming Samuel’s sparring partner, as he had demanded after being informed her Semblance helped her with balance. The Prince felt it would be a clever way to help him learn to deal with an opponent that was good on their feet, that would challenge his precision.
Though this would also lead to the nightmare of a day that Emma would remember for years that has left her severely scarred over the back of her neck.
During these years, the Prince would be enjoying his royal life. The perks of being a Prince pleasing the young boy plenty. Listening intently to the various stories his parents would tell him of the history of the Khromatos family. Of Manus’ own various experiences and victories.
Samuel’s flame would be lit and burn bright early in his life. His desire for power, strength, and to follow in his father’s footsteps burning itself into his very being.
The boy would throw aside social life as he grew older. Focusing himself to studying Ventus History and learning the way of Combat. Looking to his father and his teacher, Councilman Umb Terra, for his lessons in fighting. Eventually even developing his own Semblance which he has come to call “Shadow Wall”.
Given he has a light source providing a shadow at his feet, Samuel grew to be able to manipulate his shadow. Change it’s position, transform it’s length or width, it seemed rather useless at first. Eventually, however, he, Umb, and Emma discovered that his Semblance allows his shadow to block others. Samuel could use his shadow as a sort of shield against physical contact in specific directions depending on where he had directed his shadow. Stopping incoming attacks by using the contact between his shadow and that of the person or object about to hit him to stop the person or object from making contact with him in their attack.
Discovering this, Samuel was determined to work to advance his Semblance. To improve his control of it. To eventually make it so that he could use it at longer ranges, in wider cones of effect, and with dimmer sources of light. His goal, advance the control of his semblance to the point where he wouldn’t need light for it. Though Umb would continue to try to bring Samuel to his senses that such a goal would technically be impossible, as he needs a shadow provided at his feet from a light source to use his semblance at all.
Despite all of this, Samuel was hellbent on improving. On honing his skills and lethality in combat, and eventually getting to the point he would be on par with his father at least.
Years would pass. Emma becoming better and better at living and working without the aid of her Guardian. Becoming better at combat even, her skills slowly beginning to match those of her half-brother. Though as the girl grew more, the Queen’s curiosity grew as well. Noting the tail which the young maid sported, the wrappings she wore about her arms and legs, it brought the Queen to search for answers.
Answers she found.
Furious, with her King’s cheating, Cres demanded that Manus exile the bastard child. That she be thrown out of Ventus and never return to the Kingdom. The King listened to his Queen, a thing he rarely ever did when anyone told him to do one thing or another, and obeyed. Immediately ordering that Emma be removed from the Kingdom the next day.
The young woman decided to act on her own this night. Sneaking from the Maid’s housing to make her way through the slumbering kingdom, gathering things she would likely need when setting to the wilds. One such item, Samuel’s Scythe. A weapon the Prince had ordered be made, a long staved, four bladed scythe which could double as bo-staff or walking stick by having the blades fold into the staff of the weapon itself.
The day following, the King’s order was followed through. Emma was removed from Ventus, set to mainland of the continent with the clothes on her back, her single bag of supplies, and her “Walking Stick”. All the while during her “Trip” outside the Kingdom, the people of Ventus mocked her, spitting all manner of curses and spiteful words. Throwing sticks and stones. Labeling her with vile names. The memory of the Kingdom’s hate towards her at the time leaving lingering marks across her body. Seemingly countless scars decorating otherwise smooth skin. In many different locations alongside the remnants she has from her sparring with Samuel and his horrid grasp at her neck.
Another few years follow after Emma’s banishment with Ventus back to how it had originally been under Manus’ rule, before the girl’s exile. Though the dark day would come when thunderous boom sounded through Ventus. Glass shattering across marble floor within the mansion’s dining room. The King’s body recoiling, and chair tipping. Crashing to the floor as the crimson liquid would begin pooling on the white stone beneath.
The Tyrant King Manus Aesce Khromatos’ reign came to an end.
Queen Cres Khromatos’ reign began.
Prince Samuel Shade Khromatos’ quest to end his half-sister’s life begins.
As for Emma? The Princess, after hiding for years behind her cover name “Smoke”, the young woman was making her way to Vale. The goal on her mind: Enroll in Beacon Academy.
