today i am thinking about ronan lynch always referring to adam as Adam in his thoughts and his monologue but using Parrish when talking to him or about him out loud. something about the illusion of distance, the pretence of detachment he clings onto in public.

#ronan tries so hard to be mysterious #and he suceeds to a certain degree because he does keep up calling adam parrish in front of others pretty well hes standoffish enough #that you dont immediately think of him as someone very emotionally open #but ronan actually wears his heart on his sleeve and hes trying so hard to put up all the walls #but in the end he often lashes out too violently and it becomes obvious that he does actually care #the very defence mechanism he uses is what betrays his true feelings in the end #meanwhile adam actually is the mysterious one in that relationship #adam elusive government job adam i led my harvard friends to believe i had a perfectly stable home life adam gansey thinks i dont need him #and we know that adam hates being this mysterious and unknowable at least in part but he does also often choose to do it #anyway getting off track adam loves much more quietly than ronan #pynch #trc
