I love Raph and haven’t said that enough so to be more specific I love that Raph is a soft boy who loves bear plushies, a gross boy who eats an assortment of things that are definitely better left alone, a smart boy who is more than capable of taking down villains through planning and fortitude alike, a strong boy who is dedicated to training his muscles and fighting prowess, a teenage boy who loves his brothers but is more than happy to tease and roughhouse with them, an angry boy who sometimes lets his anger take a hold of him to cover the fear, a gentle boy who is generous with hugs and affirmations to those he loves, a capable boy who takes on more than should ever be expected of a teenager, a good boy who just wants to be a hero and slowly comes to realize the cost of that duty, a good boy who has no reservations about putting himself in the way of harm coming to his family, a good boy who’s a great brother and son and person and deserves only the best the world has to offer.

You mean his extreme perfectionism? It contributes to it, yeah. Kind of a chicken and egg scenario tbh, hard to say which came first. Did Jack's fear of disappointing his father predate his perfectionism, and ultimately lay the foundation of its existence? Or was he born believing he always needs to be more than he is, and that impostor syndrome ended up creeping into his thoughts and feelings regarding his father? Who can say? He's not doing himself any favors regardless. In this situation, Jack is his own worst enemy. His feelings of inadequacy are like a perpetual motion machine. Always devising and "fulfilling" its own prophecies

If they would just sit down and talk to each other man-to-man, it would make a big difference. But Burning Spice hasn't been any good at talking to people in a long time (no matter how much better he's gotten as a person, there are just some things you lose that you'll never get back. Not after living a life like that), and Jack, well-intentioned little martyr that he is, never likes to talk about his problems. He buries them deep and focuses on doing right by others instead, all the time and forever. It's not healthy. It would hit a lot closer to home if his father sat him down, looked him in the face and told him he doesn't always need to put himself last, and he doesn't need to be afraid of not being good enough, because he is. He always has been.

this is just a stream of consciousness please don't take anything serious from this... but it makes me so fucking sad that phil still isn't proud of the things he did during dan's hiatus. he still thinks of himself as a babysitter, he thinks of his work from this time as filler content, meaningless and unimportant in the grand scheme of things. it makes me feel insane!! no, i won't argue that this content was groundbreaking or the highlight of his career, but it was comforting and safe - not because he ignored the real world or the struggles he was facing, but because he was honest about his feelings. he made the best of a tough situation and pushed through the limitations being placed on him. he was going through it with health problems and anxiety on top of the normal amount of covid stress and the steady decline of youtube's popularity and his videos only got the most views when they contained a tiny tiny glimpse of dan. how demoralizing that must have felt, to already be feeling scared about how he'll proceed without being Dan and Phil™ and then seeing the justification for that fear manifesting in real time. and then to not even be able to turn that time period into something tangible and real like we're all doomed represented for dan, something that helped dan get closure over a transitional time period and gave him something to look back on to remember it.... it kind of breaks my heart that phil never got to have that catharsis. knowing he had ideas that never came to fruition, that all the work he did create in this time period will forever be seen as "the hiatus" even though phil was working hard the whole time trying to make us happy and give us what we want. to get up on that stage at tit and tell everyone how scared and lost he felt, only for the whole chat to still just be talking about dan. idk. man. idk. there's a time and place.

He wouldn't recognize them, he was three or four the last time he saw them and barely remembers anything from his early childhood, most of the memories from when he was little are from his apprenticeship era.

I don't think he'd have much to say to them. They're just strangers to him, and he's notoriously not very keen on letting strangers into his personal space. Consciously he might be aware that his parents gave him away and over the years he must have wondered what was wrong in him for that to happen, but whatever resentment he had for them probably simmered out long ago, he had more pressing things to worry about. He'd be confused and a little perturbed but would likely treat them with the same cold and aloof politeness he treats everyone else, and only start to get visibly agitated if they tried to insert themselves back into his life.

I bet Raised Together Alastor's introduction to deal making actually was with Charlie. It was an accident though, he offered her his dessert if she'd do some of his homework. One big blast of magic rattling the palace later and they are both getting a stern lecture by Lucifer.

And here we see early signs of Alastor's deal-making acumen. For you see, Alastor doesn't like sweets in the first place! He was sacrificing nothing by letting Charlie eat his dessert!

Lilith was proud. Lucifer less so. The lecture was long and ended with a punctuated, 'Don't take shit from other demons!' And Alastor was forced to do extra homework anyway. And Charlie soon learned she got double dessert without the need for a deal if she just flashed the puppy dog eyes.
