It's amazing how I kept managing to befriend queer neurodivergent people in middle school, despite knowing nothing of either thing at the time. we're just drawn to each other :)

Hey! I read GtN based on your recommendation and loved it, so if it’s not too much trouble, would you be willing to recommend any other books? Social isolation is killing me and I can’t focus on tv/screens very well (thanks adhd), so I need some good books to read and thought you might have some good ideas!
Hi, if you’re looking for another book like Gideon the Ninth you may be a little disappointed. Nothing else out there quite captures the same feeling.Nevertheless there are other books that I’ve quite enjoyed:This is How You Lose the Time War (WLW, romance, Sci Fi) “Two time-traveling agents from warring futures, working their way through the past, begin to exchange letters—and fall in love in this thrilling and romantic book from award-winning authors Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone.”
The Hunger Games(Post Apocalyptic, YA, political)(This one is quite well known, but just in case you only watched the movie and didn’t bother to read the book...)“ Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Still, if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.”
Mr. Mercedes(Modern crime, diverse cast)(Personal note: I like this book okay, the second book the least, and the third book the most. The 3 main characters are very sympathetic. It’s nice to see a rag tag group come together instead of 1 middle aged straight white man vs the world.)“ The stolen Mercedes emerges from the pre-dawn fog and plows through a crowd of men and women on line for a job fair in a distressed American city. Then the lone driver backs up, charges again, and speeds off, leaving eight dead and more wounded. The case goes unsolved and ex-cop Bill Hodges is out of hope when he gets a letter from a man who loved the feel of death under the Mercedes’s wheels… “You don’t HAVE to read Mr. Mercedes to read the Outsider. I actually read Outsider first. However one of the characters from Mr. Mercedes trilogy makes an appearance in Outsider, and it might be more fun if you get to know her first.-->The Outsider(Horror, Sci-Fi, Mystery, Small-Town TRIGGER WARNING FOR CHILD ABUSE AND GRAPHIC DESCRIPTIONS OF VIOLENCE)(also apparently this is now a TV show???) An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is discovered in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens—Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon have DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad. The Unspoken Name(Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Queer)I am only partway through this story, but I am enjoying it. A friend recommended it to me, and Tamsyn Muir (Gideon the Ninth’s author) had high praise for it. A. K. Larkwood's The Unspoken Name is a stunning debut fantasy about a young priestess sentenced to die, who at the last minute escapes her fate; only to become an assassin for the wizard who saved her. Nimona(YA, comic, Queer, dystopian/alternate reality, sci-fi, good/evil, tearjerker)Nimona is an impulsive young shapeshifter with a knack for villainy. Lord Ballister Blackheart is a villain with a vendetta. As sidekick and supervillain, Nimona and Lord Blackheart are about to wreak some serious havoc. Their mission: prove to the kingdom that Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin and his buddies at the Institution of Law Enforcement and Heroics aren't the heroes everyone thinks they are.But as small acts of mischief escalate into a vicious battle, Lord Blackheart realizes that Nimona's powers are as murky and mysterious as her past. And her unpredictable wild side might be more dangerous than he is willing to admit.Hope you enjoy these! If you need more, let me know!!
