So, the always wonderful @poonmitpakdee tagged me in this brilliant meme, which I have literally spent ages thinking about. (No joke, I was tagged in this days ago.)

So, like Jamie, I have chosen 10 characters (5 from Asian media, and 5 from Western media) and if that’s cheating, I don’t care :p

Also, I’m copying Jamie and putting my reasons for why I relate to these characters so much:

Ai Di (Kiseki: Dear to Me): little lunatic, will turn feral in an instant, don’t fuck with his friends |Apple (Turbo Kid): tries to always see the good things, loyal, never gives up || Ayan (The Eclipse): questions authority, stands up for what he believes in, loves hoodies || Spongebob Squarepants: loves his friends, always tries to be cheery, happy little weirdo || Pete (Dark Blue Kiss): short temper, loyal, honest || Peter Venkman (Ghostbusters): lame jokes, thinks he’s good with women (he is not, & neither am I), most annoying of the group || Pai (Cherry Magic): fangirl, will champion friend’s relationships and ignore own, tries to help friends as best she can || Pippin Took (LotR): clumsy, loyal to a fault, tries to be brave even when scared (also my namesake, for those that don’t know XD) || Dong Guerami (Extraordinary Attorney Woo): will be your pretend girlfriend to fuck with homophobes, ‘interesting’ fashion sense, friends are family || Peter Pan: refuses to grow up, wants to play all day, will flirt with mermaids all day long

I think it does matter a lot that Junho was not happy with what Youngwoo was doing in the scene with his sister – he kept saying “You don’t have to force yourself”. But also he doesn’t seem to be that close with his sister, IMO, he said he hadn’t seen her for a long time (so my guess is over a year). I’m not super close with my siblings, so I understand that feeling of family feeling distant and not really knowing how to deal with an unfamiliar situation with them. Junho doesn’t expect Youngwoo to accept his sister’s food, not in the slightest, and it’s clear the sister prepared a lot at the last minute, making it an unexpected situation for Junho. So to me Junho deciding to introduce Youngwoo when the status of their relationship is still up in the air /to him/ as far as we know, was setting them up for a difficult time, and Junho (as many of us keep saying) should’ve communicated with Youngwoo more about what they each expected of each other.

Yes, when Junho told Youngwoo that his sister had prepared food that wasn’t gimbap, and offered to tell his sister they wouldn’t eat with them, Youngwoo insisted she would eat it. But I think they are each taking each other at their word and not delving too deep into issues that would arise with this meeting. Junho probably wanted to introduce Youngwoo because he wanted to show his sincerity with continuing their relationship (and maybe convince Youngwoo further he wanted to make them official—something they really should’ve talked a lot more about!) Youngwoo was determined to do as Guerami advised, as she had so many times, and took her suggestions literally as she always has! I honestly think Junho was taking things too far by choosing to introduce Youngwoo to his sister, someone he hadn’t seen for so long and had no idea would have a prejudice against someone with autism. He should’ve learned from his experience with his former college friend and talked more with his sister about Youngwoo’s preferences. It’s not much different than discussing with your sibling about your new bf/gf having food preferences, like being vegan. But the show didn’t approach the situation in any rational way and I’m so frustrated and upset. Yes Youngwoo acted ready to eat his sister’s food, and Junho didn’t expect his sister to be prejudiced, but it was like they each went in totally uninformed about what to expect from both the sister and from each other, creating far too many unknowns.

I have seen “masking” mentioned a couple times in the fandom, and I am cautiously venturing to guess this is Youngwoo’s attempt at it, and the show presented it to us in a way that I personally find uncomfortable because the music and …tone? (I don’t like the word either, Youngwoo – not sure I’m using the right word here) make it seem like it’s supposed to be funny. But it’s not funny at all. I don’t even want to rewatch it because it’s just so hard to see Youngwoo force herself to do something in an effort to be accepted, and yet be so completely rejected, but also have the others laugh at her obvious discomfort. I think anyone who has ever felt like an outcast in their life would find that scene hard to watch. I just don’t understand why the show would chose a comedic tone for a situation that’s so obviously uncomfortable, when we want so much for Youngwoo to be accepted for who she is. The fact that the relationship might fail solely due to Junho and Youngwoo not communicating enough about what they’re each comfortable with is not something I find funny. And it is a slap in the face after these two got together because they (eventually) communicated their feelings in such a sweet way that took each other’s comfort into account.

hi 💙💙 okay so i have an unhealthy amount of EAW WIPs i seriously have a problem help. all of these will most likely be one shots (or very short multichap fics). in no particular order here they are:

kwon minwoo and the horrible, terrible, very bad, no good day: i think we all need a fic where minwoo gets 👊 a few times. i can’t believe he didn’t react more to finding out junho is dating youngwoo he’s literally so obsessed so i’m writing a little fix-it fic where he gets the karma that’s coming for him.

loving you is like the ocean (it goes for miles in all directions): youngwoo is sad that she can’t go on her yearly whale watching trip because she’s pregnant so junho + the rest of her protection squad decide to bring the ocean to her instead (aka they quite literally turn the nursery into an underwater oasis). quite literally just pure married whale couple fluff with a heavy dash of the found family trope

i had the time of my life (fighting dragons with you): geurami + youngwoo centric fic because their friendships gives me so much joy. the simplest summary would be ‘the three times guerami smacked a bitch for youngwoo & the one time youngwoo smacked a bitch for geurami’

untitled: junho meets youngwoo’s dad. yes it’s awkward and hilarious and oddly wholesome bc i’m saying no to toxicity

we’re dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light: youngwoo + junho decide to skip out on the traditional first dance during their reception (too loud and busy !!!) so instead they waltz together in the middle of the night…yes in the refrigerator light <3
