okay i'm going to say it

i don't care that they've changed a few things in the percy jackson tv show!

what matters is they stay true to the core of the story and characters which so far they have done amazingly. so what if they didn't have the hellhound after capture the flag or properly explored what ambrosia is? i think the show is amazing regardless and so many people are being more critical of it than necessary.

it's impossible to convert a beloved piece of written literature into an identical piece of media. but so far they have portrayed the characters and their desires wonderfully and proceeded along the plotline of many key events. and that's what's truly important.

Percy stared through the looking glass at the boy on the hill. His golden curls damp from the rain and glittering in the broken headlamps of the toppled car. At first glance he thought of Jason but no. In his heart he knows exactly who that is.

The Minotaur stepped into the space his mother had disappeared in just before. They both can here Grover shouting but he stands before the creature sword in hand. He is a slip of a thing before it.

“A hero in every dimension, in every plane. That is what you are Percy Jackson.”

He forced a breath out of his throat. Iris is looking at him with earnest, caring eyes. As if she had been telling him something gentle and encouraging.

“That is a child.”

He said it slowly, even as the words break over her like waves on an unseeing cliff. His hands are clenched hard enough at his sides to draw blood. It’s been long enough, he knew better than to punch a Goddess without good reason. And he does think, though it goes little more than drive the cold further down into his stomach the her ignorance isn’t malicious. She truly has no idea what she’s saying.

The Minotaur growled in the mirror. He turned back to see his younger self charging towards it. He flinched as the monster threw him into the tree. Was he really so young? He barely remembered being that young - that is to say he rembered his first quest, he remembered seeing camp for the first time, seeing Annabeth and… and Luke.

His doesn’t remember the pitchy pre-teen sobs, as the kid felt into the dusty remains of the monster.  It that grief, though - that fear - after seeing his mother disappear. He remembered that even, long after he was back in her arms. It never really left.

That kid would barely reach his waist. That kid is gonna be given a pen and a pep talk and be thrown at Medusa. He reached up to touch his grimy tear stained face. It did not good of course, just rippled the metal until he could even see him any more.

“Get me in there.”

Iris blinked, “I… I dont think…”

Percy spoke slowly, the only way he knew she would listen, “Get me in there or I am going up the Empire State Building and I am burning that shit to the ground.”

Annabeth would be mad. Or probably not. He didn’t care, he wasn’t leaving that poor child on his own. Not again. Never again.

Okay okay okay but Percy and annabeth in the show Annabeth starts out just following the new kid around you know routine shit and Percy is just so lost he doesn’t have his best friend anymore because he got snitched on his moms fucking gone and he fought a motherfucking Minotaur also apparently his dads a god and then she sees him explode a toilet and okay okay maybe he’s one of the big three let’s see him in action during capture the flag he has no fucking clue what’s going on his only friend is luke he’s in the reject cabin this weird girl is talking him and he has a pen that turns into a sword and also his old teacher is apparently a centaur and the weird girl pulled him away from his friend who told him that the girl is really smart so you know he follows her then she ducking abandons him in the middle of Nowhere and he just chills then he gets attacked by the bully girl and then their team won at capture the flag and then he gets pushed in the water and then he’s claimed by Poseidon and now they’re on a quest and then they get attacked by furies and then there’s Medusa and now they’re friends and now they’re in a train together and then they get attacked by echidna and then Percy is poisoned by the chimera and then Annabeth finds out her mother doesn’t care.

She was embarrassed by annabeths impertinence and so she has to save her two friends, one of which is poisoned. She has to sacrifice herself.

Percy finds out he got Annabeth in trouble. His only friends are gonna die because of him impertinence. He has to sacrifice himself.

A child of the big three sacrifices themself again to save Annabeth and Grover.

I feel like we are all sleeping on an AU where Percy never finds out about how satyrs age differently, and just assumes Grover made himself look younger the same way he made himself look human. He thinks it is kind of weird, but this is the least of Percy's problems so he just never mentioned it. For peak comedy this misunderstanding needs to go on for years.

percy jackson is so good because it’s about a twleve-year-old accidental delinquent who has sort of leaned into his delinquent image, a twelve-year-old who is running shit like the navy and playing 3D chess with fate at all times, and a twenty-five-year-old twelve-year-old who is like cobbling together an MSW from wikipedia and middle school assemblys about ways to cope with stress. stellar combo

looking back i definitely said id watch the pjo d+ show no matter what but like after the first episode it was very much not for me. i like that it exists and most fans seem to be happy about it and im glad that someone out there is getting exposed to pjo for the first time through that sort of hype but its like....... for me at least some things are supposed to get to you at 12 and not 20 (i think i was 20 when it came out?) and that is fine. i think if it came out While i was still 12 it wouldve been earth shattering groundbreaking stuff. im still not over black annabeth like thats the one part of the show i would go back n watch for. black annabeth my beautiful daughter

I saw somebody say that watching the Percy Jackson show made them realize that in the first books Percy doesn't even say half the stuff he thinks and he's just a quiet kid silently judging everyone, like they're so right.

Think about it from Grover's perspective. You know Percy as a quiet boy who certainly has his judgy thoughts but (aside from telling them to you) keeps them to himself. He's just trying to make it through school, for his mom.

Then his mom dies. And he loses the ability to give absolutely any fucks. He starts saying all this shit he never said out loud and to people who could do infinitely worse things to him than anything Nancy Bobifit ever even tried. And it only gets worse as he gets older.

Like bro went from quiet kid in the back of the class to fist fighting a god in the span of like a week. Then he openly told the gods to pay their child support. Grover was having heart attacks every other minute.

it wasn't until i watched the third episode that i realized how essential grover is as a character. he knew both percy and annabeth as individuals, before and during their journey into the godly world. he understands percy's devotion to his humanity and his inexperience with his godly side. notably, he also understands annabeth's devotion to her godly side and her inexperience with her humanity. so when these two inevitably get into arguments because of their opposing worldviews, he is the perfect mediator because he understands both of them. and no other character could have balanced these two out as well as he does. not even the books explicity address this significant detail, but the tv series does this in the third episode. gods, this show just gets better and better every week.
