Thinking about scenario where Ri and Kon were human, and they just died really young and were picked up by a medicine seller during a big case.
The case being “daimyo brutalizes and rapes young orphans and uses his position to cover everything up, and to no one’s surprise, it made one hell of a Mononoke.”
Like Ri being mixed in this scenario and Kon ending up with relatively fucked up coloration (read: white hair and gold eyes) means that no one would really look if they went missing.
