sas rh: let eoin survive the fall au » what the gazelles dragged in
"Look what the gazelles dragged in!" calls someone, quite possibly Dave, looking to the side and interrupting the French cheers of victory. The rest of them turn just in time to see one Eoin McGonigal climb out the jeep. "Can't leave you fellas alone for a couple of days without you lot letting the siege of Orléans fall?" Eoin jokes as he leans against the vehicle, because of course he'd mention such thing, unpromted. It gets Augustin grinning, somehow wider than he already was, and he takes a step forward. "Well, monsieur McGonigal, there's always room for the Irish exiles within French--" "Like hell is Eoin gonna join you bunch of pretentious fuckers," interrupts Paddy right away, as it should've been expected, while getting up and promptly making his way towards Eoin, who really hasn't stopped beaming. "Get someone else not to get fucked in the rematch."
or - Eoin finally comes back to camp after getting injured during a raid.

Giant siren au, where Antonio isn't part of the family he's a human orphan Pepa found on the beach after the family sunk a ruthless pirate ship that kidnapped him. Pepa was the first and only one to find him before comforting him and assuring him she would never hurt him and that when will keep him safe.
Mirabel was the second siren Antonio met. When mirabel went to check on her tia, she noticed a small little human boy in pepas hands. Mirabel spoke gently to the adorable little boy and introduced herself, Antonio did the same. Then he was introduced to the others who quickly accepted him. Julieta just wanted to cuddle the little thing, Augustine and Felix smiled at the little boy and the young adults/teens just washed him with affection, especially Dolores. Camilo did like the little guy but sometimes trys to make it like he's gonna eat Antonio. ( He would never) Antonio feared him for a while but eventually got used to him.
When Alma heard about it, she was abit concerned. But when she met Antonio, all worries left her mind as all she felt now for Antonio is care and love. Never in her life did she think she would love a human like it was her own baby. ( He is now)
The family grew to love little Antonio, Mirabel always hung out with him and played and gave him older sisterly affection when ever he wanted or when ever she wanted. At first Antonio was still afraid of her but now he sees her as his sister. He would cling on to her face and hug her, swing on her hair and hug her giant fingers. She would pin the boy down and tickle him. She loved Antonio, she didn't want anything bad to happen to him. The family new that humans are very vulnerable. So they will keep Antonio safe. He was their new baby.
Pepa always looked after Antonio like he was her own child. As her love for him grew so did Antonio's love for the family. At one point Antonio was being smothered (gently) in kisses by Pepa as he was laughing hard. As he was trying to escape her fury he accidentally says " Mama stop" as he giggled she stopped and he realized what he said, he felt embarrassed he tried to apologized only to be pressed against her soft cheek as she hugged him and said " My baby" Antonio's eyes were filled with joyfull tears as he hugged her back. Pepa herself was crying softly. Happy that Antonio was now hers. The family grew fond of Antonio that they were sad for him to go. But he didn't have a family or a place to go... until now.
Antonio was now apart of the family and he was happy. So we're the family. Other sirens got to meet the little boy and all loved him. He was proof that not all humans are bad.
One day Antonio was tired from playing Pepa was wide awake. She place him on her chest as he leaned on her and fell asleep the giant siren placed a hand over him for warmth. Antonio says " love you mama" Pepas smiles as her heart melts with love and responds " I love you, Antonio madrigal"
THIS IS SUCH A COOL. AU??? OF AN AU WHATTT <333
This could actually work. I think I mentiomed it before, but giant sirens really like human children, and will care for them, especially if they're found in wreakages or alone. (this also leads to a giant rift in the already rocky relationship between sirens and humans because...sirens have a habit of taking kids off the docks and beaches.)
The family would totally love him <333 Especially Pepa and Felíx. Antonio actually gets really attached to the family too, really fast. They’re the first time he’s felt like he’s belonged somewhere. And the Madrigals love him dearly. It wasn’t a surprise to the others when they found Pepa doting on him and. Well, crying. Meanwhile Antonio was asleep.
Tumblr media
Antonio probably can swim underwater for a long time, not only can he hold his breath but he can see pockets of air and uses those to breath lmao

"I wouldn't be jealous of Sully," Chacon said after she found Norm in the library. It was two days after the first excursion (and their first meeting), and the next one wasn't taking place until tomorrow. Except for Jake, who had found the clan, and got to be out every day, who had to learn everything on the damn wing and-
"I'm not."
"Uh-huh," and she grabbed a chair from another table, spun it around and straddled it. She was wearing an actual uniform, one with short sleeves and jungle-green camoflauge patterns all over it. It was oddly, oddlydistracting; she was, he realized for the first time, a professional soldier as well as a pilot. She knew what she was doing with the hand-gun in her holster, which somehow looked more obvious now. There was also a clean, straight contrast between her sleeve and the skin on her upper arms that his eye kept being drawn to. He blinked, focused on her words. "Look, I get it – you worked for this mission, yeah? I been around Avatar-drivers for three years now, I know what goes into your trainin'. And suddenly this uneducated hick turns up, and he's the one who wins big."
"Yes. No," he added, seeing a flash in her eyes. Uneducated hick, and in his mind's ear he could hear Grace's scornful voice asking, how much lab training have you had. He wondered, briefly, how much Chacon had to have fought to get even the grudging respect of Augustine and the others. "It's...I worked, for years, and-"and he could hear both pain and a childish kind of sulleness, so his voice trailed off.
Her smile is wry and sympathetic. "Yeah. But on the bright-side, you don't have to go through Na'vi bootcamp."
"Bootcamp?"
"Well, ain't it? Crash-course in how to survive, how to become one of them. I mean, seems kinda like Marine bootcamp to me. You don't join, you are accepted. You gotta work at it, let your sense of self be changed."
"...you're worried about him." It was one of the thoughts in his head. The other ones were about cultures, cults, and rites of passage, and the 'former USMC' on her records, and the Bible locket at the base of her throat, and those thoughts he kept to himself.
"Someone's gotta be." Norm could feel his mouth thin out, curl, and Chacon's smile was sudden and impish. "But I can multitask," she added. "I said I was gonna show you Pandora, didn't I?"
"You did."
She leaned forward, and she smelled clean. Clean clothes, clean skin, clean hair that he wanted to run his fingers through. But he wanted to listen to her more, and kept his hands on his datapad. "See, if Sully's goin' through bootcamp, you've been to the academy. I can trust you not to be a damn idiot and waste my time."
"Waste your time?"
Chacon's smile faded, and she looked competant and highly unimpressed. "Like wandering' off to poke at shit so I gotta ditch my plans and spend the rest of my day in search maneovers."
"You didn't saying anything."
"Not in front of you guys, no," she said, and Norm decided that he liked the image of Chacon tearing strips into Jake. It warmed the edges of his jealousy, made those edges soften, just a little. "But you know this place is bigger than Corporal Sully."
"It...yes."
"And you can get lost in it."
Again, he blinked, refocused on her face. She'd lost the smile, and was looking at him with that competant kind of tiredness that for some reason was one of the sexiest damn expressions he'd seen in a while.
"I don't...understand."
Her hands moved on the back of the chair, blunt fingernails digging into the metal for a moment. "Avatar-driving...the drivers are like junkies."
"We...are?"
"Yeah. Only, you aren't shootin' up, you're goin' places. Closest thing..." She laughed suddenly, and then shook her head. Whatever it was she just thought, she wasn't going to share. "Like war-junkies, I guess. Brass call it going native, but it's not quite it. It's..." She rubbed the back of her head, causing locks of her black hair to free themselves from her bun and pins. "You get hooked, until...until out there is all that is real, and back here, with us, is the bad, kinda boring dream."
Norm was silent for a moment, watching the thoughts move across her face. "You've seen it happen."
"Ye-e-ep. Like I said, been flyin' Avatar-drivers for three years. I've seen what happens when you can't go back, too. And the burn out."
"They didn't mention it." Not the RDA, nor the techs, nor the scientists, nor anyone else.
"No. Why would they? You're an investment, Doctor Norman Spellman, and they don't want you runnin' away."
"But you're telling me."
Her eyes flicked back to his face, locked with his own eyes. I See you, the Na'vi said in greeting, and he Saw her. Or he thought he did. "Maybe...I don't want you to get lost in the woods."
"But you still want to show me."
"Hell, yeah," and her grin came back. "Just be careful."
"I will," he promised, both to see her smile at him again, and because it gave his mind something else to concentrate on than Jake's smirk.

My Best Friend's Uncle | Part 2
Tumblr media
You both stared at Dolores. "So when you say, you heard everything? What exactly did y-"
“Tio Bruno had a vision and it showed that you were supposed to marry him.” She cut you off. So she really had heard everything. “Dolores you can’t say anything to anyone. This is supposed to be your wedding day and no one would understand what it means.” I pleaded.
She still had her eyes as wide as the arepa you just split with Bruno. “I don’t even understand what it means. Is my tio Bruno your boyfriend?” She asked. “Shh! No he’s not my...we aren’t dating.”
“Yet.” He said quietly. You turned your head quickly to look at him. “Sorry.” You huffed. “This is the first time I have met your tio and I had no idea we were supposed to marry each other. I only just found out when I went upstairs to his vision cave to get him.” You explained.
Dolores still had this pained look on her face as if she was told the biggest secret ever and she had no idea what to do. Which, to be fair. She kind of did just get told a pretty big secret. Well the two of you didn’t tell her. She did what she does best which is to use her gift to hear everything.
“Why did you even come over here?” You asked her. She didn’t seem that close to her tio Bruno for her to randomly just stop by. “I was looking for you and Abuela said you went to get tio Bruno. I started to hear your voices by the time I got to the door which made me stop from coming in.” She squeaked at her confession.
You looked at Bruno hoping he would have some sort of answer to get the two of you out of this awkward situation. As if reading your mind he gave a shrug as if saying he had no idea what to do. “Look I don’t cause these things to happen. They just appear to me in a vision. Don’t shoot the messenger.” He stated.
You heard some footsteps. “Brunito, is that you?” It was Abuela. Dolores squeaked again. “You can’t say anything Dolores.” You whispered low enough so Abuela wouldn’t hear. Hearing those words made Dolores feel even more nervous. You then saw Abuela appear. “Dolores what are you doing out here? You should be in your room until the ceremony begins. Mariano will be coming soon. It’s bad luck for him to see you.” Abuela stated.
Your best friend looked like she was visibly in distress. Both Bruno and you stared at her almost waiting for her to inevitably snap. As much as you adored her Dolores was never good at keeping secrets which made you even more worried. “Oh Y/N good you got Bruno.” She turned to the both of you and smiled. “Brunito can you help you Felix and Augustin set up the tent outside? Augustin got stung by bees again.” She asked her only son. Bruno turned his head to you as if he had to ask you permission. You cleared your throat. “Maybe you should share some of those arepas with him.” You had suggested.
Bruno nodded and walked out of the door leaving you alone with Abuela and Dolores who was on the verge of a nervous break down. “Mi vida are you okay?” Abuela asked Dolores noticing she looked off. She hadn’t stopped looking at you this whole time and she had barely blinked. “I um...think she’s just nervous Abuela.” She gave a soft smile and put and arm around her granddaughter. “That’s normal, I never told you this but I was also nervous on my wedding day before I married your Abuelo Pedro. I was so nervous I almost ran away but then I remembered how much I loved him and how happy he made me.” She explained. Dolores began to blink a bit and turned to look at Abuela.
You gulped and were bracing yourself for her to crack like a dam that would release a flood. “Mama!” You heard Pepa’s voice. “Abuela turned away to face the direction of her voice. “Antonito wants his...friends to join and I don’t know where to put them.” Abuela walked away. You quickly left Bruno’s room and closed the door. You grabbed Dolores’ hand and pulled her to her bedroom.
Once you reached her room you sat in silence. Both of you had no idea what to say to each other and it made you freak out. This was supposed to be her day and now you had this huge secret just weighing you down. She was the last person you wanted to be involved in this and now here she stood now unable to look at you. “Can you please say something?” You asked her.
She looked up at you. “What do you want me to say? Congratulations on your new relationship with my tio Bruno?” she asked with some weight of sarcasm in her voice. “I’m not in a relationship with him Dolores.” You shot back. “You might as well be. If you two got married in his vision then it is going to happen.” She stated and crossed her arms. “We don’t know that. ”You said lowly. You wanted to calm your best friend down but to be honest you were starting to warm up to the idea of marrying him. You thought his personality and his overall shyness was endearing. “His visions are never wrong.” She said coldly.
“So what if I marry him, would it be so bad?” You asked her. She looked at you as if you grew a second head. “Y/N he’s my tio. My mother’s little brother.” You furrowed your eyebrows. “They’re triplets.” You said. “She still came first.” Dolores walked over and sat down on her bed. “It’s just weird. Thinking about it. Wouldn’t that make you my tía?” She asked you. The realization hit you like a ton of bricks. “Yeah you seriously do not have to call me tía. In fact please don’t.” You stated. She cracked a small smile and almost laughed. “Quit making me laugh this is serious.” She stated. You sat beside Dolores. “Look if the vision comes true like the other ones that doesn’t change who I am. I’m still your best friend. I’m still the same person.” You said to her.
She nodded. “Yes, but he is still going to be my uncle.” She said turning to look at you. “That’s true, and nothing is going to change that. But we will be happy, don’t you want that for us?” You asked. “Y/N of course, I want that. You both deserve happiness but you have to admit this isn’t normal.” Dolores stated. You shook your head in contemplation and then shrugged. “Do we seem like normal people to you?” She giggled a bit. “No I guess not but this is still something the whole family is going to have to get used to. Especially my mother and Abuela. They’re gonna freak out.” You gulped just thinking about how Pepa would react. Pepa was a sweetie pie to you and she treated you like another daughter, but she was also very protective of her family. You did not want to be on the wrong side of a lightening strike that she would cause. You laughed nervously.
“Your mama and Abuela are going to end me. I know it.” You stated. She waved you off. “They’ll give you a hard time but if this is supposed to be as serious as the vision showed it will be they will not get in the way of that. They love tio Bruno too much.” Dolores reassured you. You nodded and took a deep breath. “You’re right.” You gave her a hug and she thankfully returned it. “So you won’t say anything?” You asked her. She pulled away and looked at you. “I know I have a hard time keeping secrets but I will try my best to keep this to myself.”
You heard a slight knock and then the door open. “Mi princesa, it’s time for you to head down for the ceremony.” It was Felix at the doorway. “Tio Bruno had a vision that he is going to marry Y/N and no one else knows but me and now I have to keep quiet about it because no one else can know or they’ll freak out like I have.” She covered her mouth.
Felix stared at the two of you. You snapped you head to look at her with wide eyes. She then looked at you and gave you an apologetic smile. “Sorry, it slipped out.” You both turned back to see Felix with his mouth wide open. He then became shorter and his appearance shifted to reveal Camilo. “I was not expecting that.” He stated. “Camilo!” You shouted at him.

Okay, it's time for my Harrow The Ninth read through post. Spoilers, obviously. Thanks to @shakespearerants, @irascibubble, and @mayasaura for encouraging me to keep going. Enjoy!
I am on page 33 of Harrow the Ninth and I am making a prediction. I initially thought the Body referred to the dead girl in the locked tomb, but now I think it's Gideon. We'll see if I'm right.
Page 44 says it is the dead girl in the tomb, but I'm not convinced it isn't also Gideon
Gideon must be important to have to be erased from Harrow's mind like that, right?
Did Ortus the First kill/try to kill Gideon's mom? The timeline adds up, they said he messed something up nineteen years ago, Gideon was 18 in the last book and time has passed
In the weird retconned memories, after every death, or during, someone says "is this how it happens" which makes me think it's, like, Harrow's brain asking that
Who are those notes from and to? What's up with that?
I love seeing Harrow spend time with Magnus and Abigail. I liked them
If Harrow is haunted, but this is not the real version of the past, is her mind creating the ghost? Is it Gideon? I don't think Gideon would write notes like that though...
Page 291 is Ortus talking to her like she's Gideon's mother? IS HE ASKING WHY SHE BROUGHT ALONG THE BABY?
Is Ortus' cavalier more active or something? Like he doesn't remember because she takes control?
Page 315 "he had seen me" who is he and who is me? Who is narrating this to Harrowhark? Is. It. Gideon? (Later I decide it's Palamedes seeing the Sleeper, who is also narrating and is possibly Gideon. We'll see if that's right.)
Is the poster on page 318 Gideon? Is It? IS IT? But Gideon's hair didn't go down to her shoulders. Is it her mom?
Are Camilla and Coronabeth on the side of the rebellion? BOE? Is old Harrow? I KNEW IT! But I'm sad they're on different sides.
Is Ianthe the spy? Is that how she knew Coronabeth was alive?
Does the Sleeper represent the part of Harrow and/or her brain that erased her memories and it's cleaning up the debris in her psyche? OR IS IT GIDEON? AKA the DORMANT part of Harrow-as-Lyctor? When the Sleeper is unmasked, will we see Harrow or Gideon?
Did Gideon's mother start the rebellion or something? Is that why they had a poster of her? Was she Eden?
So, Canaan house was on earth then?
Did Harrow (old Harrow) tamper with her own temporal lobe? Did Mercymorn? Ianthe?
Whose idea was it for Ortus to kill her then? John? Augustine? Mercymorn? Someone else?
Did Harrow break into the locked tomb? I want to believe she did, because I support her. But if not, who is the Body?
Shit, I can't remember what color Gideon's eyes were. Page 363 when Harrow's eyes are two different colors, black and gold
Ianthe wants to marry Harrow? Weird. I don't ship it. But I'm kind of stuck on Gideon and if I wasn't, maybe.
See a man about a queen? What does it mean? What is Ianthe doing? Also love that she cursed Harrow's hair to grow extra, just to be petty.
I'm so confused by chapter 40. What the hell is going on? Why is Harrow trying to be a cavalier? The fuck? Role swapped false memory? What is even happening?
Is Harrowhark's brain just, like, randomly spit-balling while she's dying or something? Love that Abigail and Magnus seem to be aware that it's not real.
OH OH OH THAT WAS GIDEON! SERVING THE COFFEE AND MAKING HARROW BLUSH IN THE THIRD(?) FALSE MEMORY OR DREAM OR WHATEVER! I love that Abigail is NOT having this, like, no I'm not gonna watch your romance novel version unfold.
I think I've noticed that the ones who have speaking roles the weird memories are the ones who died in the last book.
Are they all taking active part in these false scenarios? All the dead from Canaan house?
Oh my god oh my god here it is she remembers and she's so sad!
So she erased Gideon to save her soul. Nope nope nope nope nope I can't. I can't deal with these feelings. Y.Y
Who the fuck is the angry spirit?!?!
Who fucking stabbed her?
IS GIDEON DRIVING HARROW'S FUCKING BODY AROUND DURING A FIGHT? HELL YES! AND THAT MEANS I WAS RIGHT THAT SHE'S NARRATING!
OH AND I PREDICT THE GHOST IS CYTHERIA!
I'm still thinking about what Harrow did. It's so sweet and so sad and she's so lonely and she didn't even know how lonely she was.
Also I'm already excited to reread this series.
Oh yeah, this is GIDEON in here, swearing up a storm and trying to use a sword.
Okay, first I'm getting emotional just from heading Gideon's voice, then I'm emotional about what it was like for her to be in Harrow's body/mind, then I'm emotional about all the things she wanted to say but didn't have time, AND THEN I'M EMOTIONAL when Gideon says why she thinks Harrow did it and I'm like baby nooooooo it was because she loved you, not because she didn't want to rely on you! Honey, baby, no!
"Harrowhark, I gave you my whole life and you didn't even want it." HARROWHARK, I GAVE YOU MY WHOLE LIFE AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN WANT IT. 💔💔💔😟😟😟😭😭😭 Excuse me while my heart breaks.
Oh, also a bigger issue in this book is the whole concept of the afterlife? And it's messed up because of the emperor? I don't know why I wasn't prepared for that but I wasn't.
Ortus holding Harrow and pointing out that she and Gideon were neglected children is making my therapist soul ascend.
I'm such an idiot. His name wasn't Ortus, it was Gideon. He did kill Gideon's mother, that's why she shouted his name. Or they were in love? One or the other... Or both?
Harrow did a find and replace in her brain and it had unexpected consequences.
I've been leaning more and more towards the Sleeper and ghost being Cytheria.
Oh my sweet sword lesbian himbo, how I've missed you. "The sword I had to hold overhead in one hand as I used the other to keep everything inside you; stuff was coming out, Harrow, I don't know precisely what stuff because I'm not a goddamn necromancer."
Gideon is OCCUPYING HARROW'S BODY during a deadly invasion and is like, 'I'm gonna shut my eyes to reach under the shirt and get rid of encumbrances. I tried not to touch you, so don't get mad.' I feel like Harrow would be the first one to say 'do whatever you have to do to stay alive, you imbecile!'
So Mercymorn stabbed Harrow... So the heralds would eat her as a way to buy time? Was that the plan? Gideon calling her "my necromancer" made my heart do a thing.
I want to understand what she's saying about Gideon's mother. Was Gideon a science experiment? Like Kipo?
Where. THE FUCK did Cytheria get the gun?
Dulcie is *horny for revenge* Abigail is a BAMF and my new (and final?) prediction is that the Sleeper is Gideon's mom.
Gideon and Ianthe is a fun dynamic. I love how protective Gideon is, that she's mad at Ianthe for hurting Harrow's heart.
Gideon must have her mother's eyes to be freaking all the lyctors the fuck out.
"I wanted you to use me... I wanted you to live and not die... Harrow. I already gave my flesh to you, and I already gave you my end. I gave you my sword. I gave you myself. I did it while knowing I'd do it all again, without hesitation, because all I ever wanted you to do was eat me." Why am I crying? 😭😭😭😭😭 Why is this the most romantic thing when it's also full of insults and curses and is followed by a your mom joke? What a Gideon thing to do, be so romantic and gross and sassy all at once. I love her, I want to be her. Gideon forever.
Love that Ianthe also thinks Harrow got rid of Gideon because she didn't want her. /s I'm starting to worry that it's silly for me to hold onto the 'because she can't live without Gideon' explanation.'
"But Nonagesimus, you hating me always meant more than anyone else in this hot and stupid universe loving me. At least I'd had your full attention." That's why indifference is the opposite of love, hate is still passionate attention. But this also makes me feel so bad for Gideon because she deserves to be loved, dammit!
Okay, "gall on gall" is pretty hilarious. Good job Ianthe.
Love that the ghost of Matthias Nonius speaks in meter because he's been so deified by the Ninth house, and he's confused by it. It's like people in a musical being aware they're in a musical, like, why am I singing?
Ortus' poem was important after all!
Is it the sword? Does Harrow have to destroy Gideon's sword? Because that would break my heart a little.
"It bewildered her, back at Canaan House, how the whole of her always seemed to come back to Gideon. For one brief and beautiful space of time, she has welcomed it: that microcosm of eternity between forgiveness and the slow uncomprehending agony of the fall. Gideon rolling up her shirt sleeves. Gideon dappled in shadow, breaking promises. One idiot with a sword and an asymmetrical smile had proved to be Harrow's end." I just... This is so beautifully written. And describing Gideon as one idiot with a sword is so perfect and right and I just... 🖤🖤🖤😭😭😭
No no no I hate this either/or bullshit! I know I'm a sappy optimist, but I want both of them to survive, damnit! I want Harrow to be able to go back to her body without losing Gideon's soul. I want Gideon to keep existing.
What does Dulcinea know?!?!
Commander? That's Gideon's mom, right? Awake Remembrance of These Valiant Dead Kia Hua Ko Te Pai Snap Back to Reality Oops There Goes Gravity
What does that all mean? Are those Eminem lyrics? What other language is in there?
WHAT'S ALL COME OUT?
I knew she was in the sword.
Oh my god, if you need John to get in the tomb, and she was trying to get in the tomb and had something, a tool... Samples... She was armed with the baby... Is Gideon's father John? Is Gideon the fucking child of God?
She named the baby Bomb... This whole series could have been Bomb the Ninth... Bomb Nav...
Yep yep called it, child of God. The first time they put that plan in action was to get sperm to make Gideon. The second time was so Harrow could kill the first Gideon.
A dad joke?! A DAD JOKE?!
Gideon and Harrow were so cruel to each other as kids. It just makes me so sad.
Was Harrow able to get into the tomb because she made Gideon bleed?
So is Alecto John's cavalier? Annabel and Alecto... Are the same person? I'm so confused. She's the body in the locked tomb? But how is that related to her eyes being in his genes?
Wait, the eyes switched? I continue to be confused. Did he do the lyctor thing but also put a part of both him and his cavalier into the cavalier's body? But she was never human? What's going on? Why do they think she never had genes?
Oh cool, Mercy killed God and now everyone's gonna die... ... ... Ooooor not.
I love that beating up Harrow is Gideon's job AND saving Harrow is Gideon's job. Very cute.
Sooooo Gideon the OG and Pyrrha both fucked Gideon's mom... With the same body...
Gideon, such a romantic, wishing she had Harrow's name on her lips as she died. "I mean, yeah, I was thinking about you too; if I could've turned that off I would've turned it off years ago" HAHAHAHAHA You can't stop thinking about Harrow even if you want to! God, what a sweet himbo.
"Yes, well, jail for mother" says Gideon... Is she referencing Miette? Jail for mother for one thousand years!
Okay, so we have definitely confirmed that the Body is Alecto/Annabel/God's cavalier.
What did Dulcinea tell her? That Gideon is moving her body around? Doesn't she know that? Shouldn't that not be a surprise?
Okay, so, wait, what happened to Harrowhark?
ARRRRRGH I'm not smart enough for this book! Or I'm not visual enough! I know I should recognize the description of bobbed hair and "lambent" eyes but I have no idea who it is and also WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO GIDEON AND HARROWHARK?! UGH NOW I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK AND I'M GONNA BE SO IMPATIENT AND CONFUSED!
Well that was fun to reread. Impressed I got some things right, but mostly I was very wrong.

✨I offer: Crepuscolo Sneak Peak ✨
Seeing as I'm still working on those first few Crepuscolo (tatw pirate au) chapters and smoothing things out, perhaps I can interest you in a little ✨sneak peak✨ (of which will also help me kick off the Crepuscolo masterlist)
Trying to balance answering headcanon requests and this is a little tough, but it's nothing I can't handle don't you worry! ☺️ I'm just super glad everyone is being so patient!
👀 without further ado, here's that sneak peak 👀
Feeling overwhelmed, you spin around and pull open the door you had come through. As you peaked outside, you quickly note that everything is different. Nothing was recognizable. Even the streets and scenery were different.
Not even bothering to take in the outside environment in fear of becoming even more overwhelmed, you shut the door and begin taking everything in.
Wooden tables filled the room, and a rough bar held men taking shots boisterously. Tired bartenders cleaned old-fashioned mugs and made drinks for those yelling for another. It was dimly lit, but only one thing catches your eye. Or rather, someone. And you couldn’t stop yourself from taking in every detail of his figure.
In the crowd stood a tall handsome man, his light brown hair pushed back out of his face, which had a beauty mark under his right eye and on the right side of his chin. His charming smirk and posture exuded suave confidence. He wore a dark overcoat with large cuffed sleeves that ended at his elbow, the rest of his sleeve being the white puffy-sleeved button-up shirt under it--- of which was partially unbuttoned beneath a brown leather vest--- displaying his neck and part of his alluring collarbones.
You realize then, that he was watching you look him up and down. He makes eye contact with a raised brow and you feel your face heat up in embarrassment. Instead of looking confused or upset, he wears a look of amusement as he winks at you and nods towards the bar as if to say “follow me,” disappearing in that direction.
With your curiosity piqued, you follow, already wanting to know more about this man. Plus, if you’re really in some new universe, it would be best to know someone from here. Just the thought made you dizzy, but you shook your head and brought yourself back to the present.
Presently, you needed to find where that guy had run off to. You stood at the bar, searching the faces in the crowd. You would think it would be easy to spot such a tall man in a crowd, but he seemed to be good at being elusive. To your disappointment, you soon realize how useless your search is and take a seat in a stool.
“Hey there, darlin’, welcome to the Stubborn Mule tavern. what can I get for you this chilly evening? Perhaps somethin’ to warm you up?” A kind large woman asks, her accented voice comforting.
You look up at the menu, not recognizing any of the drinks. “Uh…”
“They’ll take a Flip, lass. And a Sangaree for me, if you don’t mind,” A voice speaks from beside you.
You look over to see the very person you were looking for smoothly sitting in the empty stool beside you.
“You got it, Captain Valentino. I’ll be right with back with your drinks, it's good to see you back 'round here, ” She responds pleasantly, her entire energy contradicting the loud chaos around you.
“That ol’ Shauna, hasn’t changed a bit. She’s still got that ever-kind attitude, somehow. Still don’t know how she does it,” The man remarks humorously, turning to you as she leaves. His charming smile makes you feel at ease as you let out a soft laugh.
“Ah, but where are my manners? The name’s Nicky. Nicky Valentino,” He introduces himself while softly taking hold of your hand and bringing it to his lips. His twinkling eyes gaze into yours as he presses a soft kiss to the back of your hand, sending a swarm of butterflies through your stomach. “And who might you be, dear?”
“Uh, (Y/n),” You respond before asking, “Where… am I?”
Nicky quirked an eyebrow. “You don’t know where you are?”
You shake your head, still waiting for an answer.
“St. Augustine, Florida, 1743. In the Stubborn Mule, talkin’ to a guy you find to be very attractive.”

War.
The land was at war with the skies.
It was hell on earth in Desidaria; cracked, brittle grounds from the drought with dust flying at every gust of the wind, the sun’s heat prickling everything underneath it with an aftermath of a dry, deadly inferno. It was near impossible for a single soul to survive.
That is if you were unlucky enough to be born within the Outer Circle— which you unfortunately were.
Misfortune. Poverty. Illness. Imminent death. That’s how life was in the outermost ring. You’d be blessed if you lived in the Middle Circle, and a god if you resided in the Inner. But you were not, seeing the fact that you were desperately holding onto your life on the crackled, burning ground of slums, throat withered and stomach crying after days and days of starvation. It was nobody’s fault besides fate that you were thrown here. Some things were just meant to be. And in a couple of moments you were meant to die.
It hurt every time you inched your body to move, feeling like an onslaught of knives repeatedly stabbing your dry flesh. Despite it all, you pushed underneath the deadly rays of the sun because if you were going to die, you were going to die someplace visible to the nearby Arbiters. At least you would be disposed of immediately once you were declared lifeless.
Lines of men covered in white from head to toe standing around seven feet apart from each other were caught by your blurring vision, the sight almost cutting the air out of your lungs in relief. They roamed all over the parameters of the Outer Circle, but most stood guard at the innermost part of the outer ring— to keep things “in order,” as the government would say. You were limping, almost crawling when you dropped yourself to a somewhat shaded area, leaning against the feeble, wooden walls of an abandoned house and choosing it as your grave on the surface.
Let me die. You thought. It’d feel more like life than life on here.
Your breathing was getting shallow, inflicting a new surge of pain at every inhale and exhale. All of the guards paid no attention to your curled up form, their eyes pointed straight in front of them, each armed with dangerous guns. They were all familiar to you, yet you knew none of their names. You saw their faces all throughout your life here on the outside. A pretty eyed brunette that you remembered sending you looks of apology and remorse when your father was publicly hanged for teaching the women here how to read. A young looking, black haired boy, whom you recalled slipping out of your late friend’s house at the dead of night.
But one you didn’t quite recognize— a blonde that stared at you with unfamiliar eyes.
Eyes that were foreign, as they bore not the abhorrence that you were so used to receiving, but instead something that you couldn’t quite decipher. Eyes that were sharp, lethal, as if they were dissecting every single bit of you down to your core. Eyes that shouldn’t have been staring at you for more than fifteen seconds or else he’d be whipped down in punishment.
You gleaned back at him as he stood in his unmoving stance, unable to find any traces of emotion on his partially covered face. It was difficult to keep your eyes open, but his, ever so sharp and piercing, were still locked onto you as if you were a target. You felt your eyelids getting heavy, air barely squeezing into your lungs, and your eyes involuntarily fluttered to a close. But you could still feel those eyes on you.
Eyes that were still staring at you until your last thread of consciousness.
Tumblr media
Famine.
That was what you had been suffering with until he showed up. Like the embodiment of heavy rainfall, washing over you until you’re soaked and sick but having no intentions of getting out because you’ve never experienced anything like this before.
He saved you.
You thought that you were finally going to die on that day, shriveled under the scorching heat of the sun and battered from your hunger. There was little hope left— symbolized by the presence of your mind that was barely there, slowly slipping away into blackness by the second. You were moments away from succumbing to unconsciousness, but then—
Clang!
Something hard fell at your feet.
Not only hard, but it was cold against your warm skin, nearly sending you into a frenzy. Were you hallucinating? You wouldn’t know unless you opened your eyes to see. But you were fearful that it was just a fever dream, and waking meant that the hopeful glimpse of the cold was to disappear. Despite that, you took a peek— opening your eyes as much as your strength would allow, and you gasped.
The cold, hard, object was a steel container.
Water.
You didn’t feel the thirst sucking your throat dry until you acknowledged the presence of water, and now it was all you could think of. It was as if you were raised from the dead— body moving swiftly as you leaned forward to grab the silver thermos, exhaling a shaky breath when you felt the frigid temperature in between your chapped palms. You twisted it open, the cold liquid soothing your cracked lips and dry mouth upon contact, and it felt like you were alive again. The feeling of water running down your throat was like a taste of heaven, mindlessly drinking until the last drop. You were thankful to have been blessed to live for a few days more, thankful for whoever dropped the thermos at your feet, but you didn’t know who to thank.
Your eyes snapped forward, meeting the same, sharp stare of the unfamiliar blonde as you tightly clutched the metal container. It was only for a brief moment until he diverted his attention, gazing elsewhere into the distance. You weren’t sure why, but you just knew it was him— even without the exchange of words. You wanted to thank him, but you didn’t have enough strength to speak.
Thank you. You thought, hoping it would reach him somehow. Thank you.
But that wasn’t your last encounter with the blonde Arbiter, the next one happened as soon as the sun fell from the sky.
The heat from noontime seeped into the night’s dark veil, crickets resounding as a semblance of life amass the falling of bodies day by day. You hadn’t left your spot since earlier, and it wasn’t like you could. It was difficult to slip into slumber when your stomach was writhing, almost groaning at you to give it something to eat. Besides the moon, the flickering bulbs near the tall, concrete wall border were your only sources of light.
You sat there, motionless in the hopes of sleep to finally wash over you— until you heard the sounds of the crunching ground. Footsteps. It was enough to stir you into complete consciousness. It was impossible for any of the locals of the Outer Circle to even have half the strength to stand. This was definitely an Arbiter, but didn’t they all resign the moment it became dark? You fluttered your eyes open, a leering shadow overtaking you on the ground, and somehow your heart rose.
Those unfamiliar eyes.
He had a cap and mask on, clothes that were a lot more casual than the usual white uniform, and in his right hand was a white, bulky plastic bag. You continued to stare at him, no words exchanged, but you wanted to say something although helplessly unable to, so you resorted to merely waiting for him to make a move.
Ten seconds. He looked around, released a sigh of what you concluded was relief, dropped the bag before you, and left. Within ten seconds, he left.
And along with his departure was the disappearance of famine, for it was the first meal you had in days. Though, famine came in different forms, and perhaps you weren’t fully set free from its harrowing grasp.
You scarfed down the wheat bread, sparing not even a single crumb from your hunger, and you washed it down with one of the bottles of water he had generously given you. Staring at the lonesome moon in the sky, you exhaled, savoring the foreign feeling of contentment running through your veins.
But humans are never content, because once satisfied, they sought for more. Sleep didn’t come to you that night because of one plaguing thought.
You wanted to see him again.
Tumblr media
Conquest.
Once he had conquered your mind, it wasn’t all that difficult for him to subdue your heart soon after. It was only natural after all the kindness he had offered you.
That sweltering day and night weren't the last of the times that he had saved you. Though, his actions were always secretive— occurrences that happened in hushed silence when no one else was booking besides you. He came early to his post the morning after, dropping the same contents at your feet, and he did the same during the evenings. This went on for a week until you finally mustered the courage to ask for his name.
(“Soonyoung,” he muttered from above you. The bottom half of his face was covered by his uniform, but from his diverted eyes, you could tell that he looked indifferent. You weren’t given the chance to speak because he already turned away to get back to his position.
You continued to stare the warm loaf in your hands, and for the first time in so long, the corners of your lips curled upwards.
“Soonyoung,”
You called out, voice low and hoarse from lack of use. He stopped midway, and you looked at him as if he had caught a million stars for you.
“Thank you.”
It was a shame that you couldn’t catch the smile on his face when he walked away from you.)
It took him three weeks to get comfortable with you— hushed conversations in hidden spots when he was on break, knowing glances exchanged when at the presence of others. Your meetings had always occurred in tight spaces, dark surroundings, and places where there was no other soul apart from yours. It would be dangerous if people saw, he told you, and you weren’t in the position to question him. You had found out that he was only recently promoted as an Arbiter. Maybe that was why you weren’t able to recognize him on the first day.
He was excited to be deployed with his new position, only to be thrown into the despairing slums of the Outer Circle. It was a surprise to witness the state of things when he first arrived, it was unlike the comfort he was used to living in.
(“Have you… always lived your life like this?” he whispered from beside you, bodies wedged in between narrow, concrete walls to conceal yourselves from wandering eyes. You hummed in affirmation, lifting your head that was previously resting from his shoulder. “You get used to it,” you assured him, but remorse was painted on his face in a glaring light. “Some people are just lucky, and well… some not as much.”
You smiled at him, head tilting as you hugged your knees. Those who were born in the Outer Circle had not been lucky with the wheel of fate, but—
“I’d consider myself lucky,” Soonyoung perked up when he heard you, his despondency masked by a layer of confusion. You released a laugh, which only furthered the furrowing of his brows, a concerned pout on his lips. The mere thought of him worrying for you was enough of a blessing to have you going for days, to have you unfurling bursts of emotions that you didn't think you were able to feel.
Another laugh fluttered from your lips to his ears, the smile on your face having grown wider.
“I didn’t think I had the privilege of getting a taste of luck until you came along.”)
Soonyoung promised to take you away from there, and today he fulfilled that promise. He brought you to his home in the Middle Circle. It was the first time for clean air to enter your lungs.
“Are you comfortable?” Soonyoung asked as he leaned against the doorframe of his bedroom, and you only gave him a thin presence of your smile. This wasn’t received well by him, seen by the frown and the furrowing of his brows coating his features. He never liked it when you didn’t give a clear answer, so you hastily muttered out a ‘yes’ to appease him. It wasn’t like you were lying. You were being honest, but the feeling of the soft, linen bed sheets beneath your palms were just foreign underneath you.
He released a sigh, stepping away from his spot to walk up to you at the foot of his bed. He hadn’t worn the white outerwear of his uniform yet— donning a plain black ensemble that tightly hugged his skin. Soonyoung found himself before you, and he leaned closer, caging you in between his arms
“Y/N,”  Soonyoung’s voice was commanding, urging you to look up to his face, and it took everything from you to stop yourself from surrendering. Head down, you could hear him clicking his tongue, and your breath hitched. He was close— too close. Any closer and you’d be breathing him in. His fingers trailed underneath your chin, the ghost of his touch sending arrows of fire into your veins, setting them ablaze. You looked up at him, taking in his sharp eyes. “If there’s anything you need, don’t hesitate to tell me, alright?”
You nodded, unable to speak, and he hummed. “I’ll be leaving now. You’re free to do whatever you want in the house, but remember don’t—”
“Don’t go outside.”
You finished, cutting him off, and he answered with a smile.
“Mhm,” he mumbled into your hair, lips pressing a light kiss on the top of your head before he departed. “Good. Don’t go outside, it’s for the safety of the both of us.”
With the sound of the door swinging to a close, he left.
Your gaze travelled around the bare room, from the sheer curtains that served no use in blocking the glares of the morning sun, to the crisp and clean wooden floorboards that felt cold underneath your feet. It wasn’t like you were ungrateful that he brought you here, but for some reason the room just felt empty. The sun leaking through the curtains was your only semblance of familiarity.
With a sigh, you brought your legs up the bed, pushing yourself further into the mattress, and you fell backwards. The sky was white, but you needed to get used to this.
Soonyoung saved you, and the least you could do was to heed his words.
But there were moments in between when you couldn’t help but question.
(The night came a few days after, moonlight seeping into the dark, wooden floors. It was quiet, except for the illicit noises spilling from your lips, muffled by the taste of his tongue, chasing after yours in fervent bouts of pleasure..
“Hush, sweetheart,” he retreated from your mouth, his airy voice whispering into your ear. Shallow breaths melted into the humid brushes of the wind as he trailed kisses down your neck, the fleeting nips escalating in roughness at each touch on your heated skin. You let out a sharp gasp at the last one, and he chuckled. “Wouldn’t want anyone to hear you now, do we?”
All of a sudden there was a knocking that resonated through the entire house, and the both of you paused in alarm. His name was called— the voice you’ve heard many times since the beginning of your stay— and Soonyoung let out an annoyed sigh.
“Stay here,” he commanded, sitting up and picking up his shirt from the crumples sheets of the bed. “Don’t go anywhere.”
When he left, the door was locked. He didn’t come back until the morning.)
The sky was still white, and there were moments in between where you questioned if it was only for safety, but you had no right to do so.
Tumblr media
A week later, you were awoken by barrelling footsteps running inside the house.
You stirred in your bed, the noises becoming louder and louder and your first thoughts washed over to Soonyoung. Did he have anything to do with this? You thought, pulling yourself out of your sheets, yet you debated whether or not to get out of the room because you didn’t know if you should do that. It would only bring trouble if it was something you weren’t supposed to be involved in.
But then the footsteps found their way outside of your room, and the door swung open.
Arbiters. Five of them. Not one you were familiar with.
“What is—” you weren’t even given the chance to speak as you were immediately rushed outside the room, rough hands restraining your movements. Your heart threatened to break out of your chest, pulsating fear throbbing in your veins and your legs went weak. The two Arbiters grabbing onto you were practically dragging you along to move. It was there— the gut wrenching familiarity, inviting you back into its cold hands, but you refused to let it in.
There were more of them outside, your eyes immediately locked onto one of them.
It was Soonyoung.
There was a strange feeling spreading throughout your lungs, constricting your ability to breathe, deafening your ears with a ringing that muted the chaos that ensued around you. When you looked at him he didn’t meet your gaze, his eyes passing through you as if he didn’t see you, and the clenching feeling spread all throughout your body until you felt numb.
You’ve been at death’s doorstep before, yet this feeling was worse than death.
You were thrown inside a vehicle, a nameless Arbiter following after you, and silence swept the air as you were driven to the courthouse at the heart of the Circle. There was a flood of people by the entrance, staring down at you with the abhorrence that had no effect on you anymore. All you cared about was to meet Soonyoung’s eyes once more, to figure out why he refused to look at you.
He did look at you once inside the courtroom, but what you hadn’t expected was to have him looking at you with eyes so unrecognizable, piercing through your fragile heart.
“Y/N LN.”
The prosecutor's voice ran cold shivers down your spine, and you were forced to pay attention.
“Born in the Outer Circle yet was found in the Middle. Can you tell me why this is a violation of the laws imposed in Desidaria?”
Your hands were clammy, heartbeat ringing in your ears, and the dozens of eyes inside the courtroom were all staring down at your weary figure. It was difficult, but you gulped before you spoke. “I-it is by regulation that everyone must strictly reside within their preordained precincts,” you answered each word chipping away the remnants of your strength.
“And?”
”A-and any form of irreverence against the laws shall be taken as a form of treason.”
These words were embedded into your mind, each word printed into your being after hearing them every single day of your life. You didn’t forget, not even for a single moment. You knew of this whenever you sneaked off with Soonyoung when he was off duty. You knew when he broke you into the Middle Circle without the knowledge of the authorities. You knew that you’d be the one punished if ever you get caught.
Yet a glimpse of heaven seemed worth it when all you’ve gone through was hell.
“YN L/N,” you froze when you were called out once again, eyes wide as you heeded the prosecutor’s icy glare. “You knew all of these yet you still chose to go against Desidaria’s laws.”
But why did you feel wronged?
“I wasn’t at fault!” you abruptly resounded, desperation clinging onto your voice. “It was Soonyoung who brought me here. You even found me inside his house. Go—go and ask him, and he’d tell you the same!”
You searched through the crowd for his eyes, your line of vision frantic in your disposition. You hoped that he would save you in this somehow— he was an Arbiter, he had the position and power to convince the judiciary to pardon you. His eyes were your only hope.
“Kwon Soonyoung.”
He met your gaze, expecting the usual bubbling of safety to encase your being, a promise of a life worth living—
“Do the statements of Y/N L/N prove to be true?”
Hopeful, you were hopeful. You gritted your teeth, nails digging into your skin as you clenched your fists. Blood was drawn. It took him longer to respond— longer than you had expected because all he had to say was the truth. Soonyoung loved you. That much you were sure of. He told you in between whispers, in between promises, in between the moments of your despair. He wouldn’t have shown you this much compassion if he didn’t .
He loved you enough to save you once.
“No.”
But apparently not enough to save you once more.
“I was the one who reported the intrusion. That enough can prove the validity of those allegations.”
It was numbing— a pain much worse than a bullet piercing through your skull. You felt dizzy, unable to find it in yourself to even look at him.
“Very well then.”
Blurs of white marched over to you, grabbing both of your arms in restraint. It was seeping into you, the realizations of your mistakes, the realization that you should have just surrendered yourself to demise before you were given the chance to meet him. You should have known that if you tried to fight against fate, it would only give you a future much worse than what you had.
“Y/N L/N is hereby declared an enemy of the state in violation of Act 0515. Violation of said law is declared as treason, the punishment—”
Tears well at your eyes, clogging your throat in a stinging pain. You stood in restraint, hands tied behind you with the presence of Arbiters around. In front of you was a set of eyes, sharp, unfamiliar, and aiming at you as if you were a target. Those unfamiliar eyes carrying a familiar feeling.
“Death.”

A song to heal a tired soul 26 (Raikichi x Piers)

Note: Raikichi is around 25-26 years
----------------------PART 26-------------------------------
Fire was around us. Lumiose City was a big chaos. People and Pokemon running away, trying to seek refuge while Team Flare, with the power of the ultimate weapon, was going to destroy everything. I managed to get Xerneas out of Lysandre’s labs and now I was on my way to confront that man. When I was flying on my Mega Charizard X, something attacked us. It was him, with a very big Pokemon; the one that attacked us. Yveltal? I didn’t know. I fell from my Charizard and ended on the floor, getting my right leg very wounded and my ribs broken; I noticed the terrible pain of the broken ribs when I moved and when I breathed. Fuck. At least, Glaceon and Charizard were less wounded than me. My Charizard was still mega evolved so she could still fight together with Glaceon.
“Look at you” Lysandre said, landing in front of me, with his Mega Gyarados at his side, but not sight of the other Pokemon “The mighty and invencible World Champion is now on her knees. Bow and show respect to the new King of Kalos!”
“Never” I said, using my extensible battle staff to stood up since my right leg was very wounded “I would never serve a false king!! You’ve taken AZ’s machine to cause problems and chaos!! You don’t understand what the last ruler of Kalos finally understood!! Destroying this world and creating another one following your stupid ideals of beauty...Is insane!! There is beauty in everything, but you don’t want to see it!!”
“SILENCE!!” Lysandre yelled as his Gyarados roared, but my two Pokemon didn’t flinch “I respected you...And I thought on you to lead at my side my new world, but it looks that I have to destroy you if I want to continue with my plans”
I started to feel a calm wave of energy that I quickly recognized. Xerneas was near, but before I could do something, I heard Sycamore calling me and then, he ran to approach me. In that moment, Lysandre ordered his Gyarados to attack us with Hyper Beam and I didn’t think too long; I pushed Sycamore away, and I ended recieving the attack and then, everything turned black as Augustine called my name before I passed out....
I woke up suddenly, sweating and panting a bit. I checked the hour and I cursed for myself when I saw that it was 3 o’clock in the morning. Piers was still sleeping, and I sighed in relief that he didn’t wake up with all the movement I did when I was having that freaking nightmare. With a sigh, I exited the bed and after putting my sleepers and my sleeping coat on, I exited my room and went to the garden terrace. Corviknight was sleeping on her nest, and Honchkrow on his perch, but when I sat down next to the nest, Corviknight covered me with one of her big wings. “Sorry, girl, I didn’t want to disturb your sleep” I said and then, I heard steps approaching us. It was Glaceon, who had woken up too and now was at my side, licking my hand and rubbing her fur againts my arm. “Pokemon are incredible...You know when someone has problems”
Glaceon meowed and Corviknight chirped, making me chuckle and then, Corviknight pulled me closer to her until I ended half on her nest, half on the grass of the garden. “Hey, I’m not a little Pokemon” I said and when she ruffled her feathers, I couldn’t help but chuckle cause the feathers tickled me. “Corviknight, please, I know you want to confort me but you’re a bit heavy and I have half body out of the nest”
Corviknight moved a bit to allow me to exit the nest and sat down on the soft grass, with Glaceon at my side, but Corviknight covered us with her big wing in order to keep us warm due the cold weather of the night. I cursed my mind to make me had that stupid dream. Why now? It was because I joined the Interpol again? I sighed and rubbed my eyes with a yawn when I heard my uncle approaching me. “Kiddo, do you know what time is it?” he asked sitting next to me
“Yeah...” I said with another yawn “Sorry, a stupid dream made me jump off the bed”
“Do you want to talk about that?”
“Well...I think I had the dream cause my mind remembered all the things I passed when I was in the Interpol...”
“And what was the dream about?” my uncle asked
“It was about the second time I was near dying” I said before sighing again
“Does Sycamore know about this?”
“No, I didn’t tell him about me joining the Interpol again...I need to find the proper moment...Fuck, why it couldn’t be another way to deal with the furtives? Piers was very worried and he’s still worried about me taking again those dangers...And Sycamore...He was broken inside cause he didn’t know if I was going to make it...Piers was broken inside when I was dealing with that pneumonia; I don’t want to think on how broken he would be if instead of a pneumonia, I had to deal with deadly wounds...”
“Is understable...But let me tell you something, Raikichi” uncle Kabu said “Maybe you’re again with the Interpol, but this time, you’re not alone. In the past, you used to be alone, but this time, we will be with you”
“Thanks, uncle” I said with a soft smile and he ruffled my hair
“That’s my niece” he said with a chuckle “You should return to bed before Piers notices that you aren’t there”
“True” I said with a chuckle as I stood up “Good night, uncle”
“Good night, kiddo”
I entered inside and went to my room, followed by Glaceon, who jumped on the bed and curled after yawning. I removed my sleepers and my sleeping coat and slipped under the covers, only to get embraced by Piers when he felt me lying down next to him. “You’re cold...” he said clinging more and cuddling more next to me.
“Sorry, I had a bad dream and I went to the garden to calm myself down...I didn’t want to wake you up”
“Wanna talk about it?” Piers mumbled, still sleepy as I sighed soflty on his neck, my hands on his chest and my legs tangle with his.
“Not now...Let’s say that I’m still assimilating that I’m again in the Interpol...” I replied with a yawn “Good night, my love...”
“Good night, babe...”
----------------------------------------
Another week passed and the day of my official match againts Cynthia arrived. The Sinnoh Champion arrived a day before the match and I offered her to guide her through Galar, but she wanted to explore by the own and after many hours without knowing anything of her, we went to search her and we find her exploring ancient ruins in the Wild Area. She was also an historian, like me, and she liked to go by her own, so when she asked me about the different cultural places that were in Galar, I told her and she went to discover them by herself.
So the day of the match arrived and it was early morning when I decided to wake up since Cynthia wanted to have breakfast with me. So there I was, haf asleep, taking a shower at 5 o’clock of the morning. “Damn, Cynthia, why you have to make me get up this early...” I mumbled to myself as I exited the bathtub in order to get dried and dressed. Once I got dried and dressed, and my hair into a ponytail, I exited the bathtub while I put my glasses on before putting my accesories on as well.
“Kiddo, you know what time is it?” uncle Kabu asked when he saw me entering the living room
“I know, I know” I said with a sigh “Cynthia wanted to have breakfast with me and since she wanted to have it early, I had to wake up early”
“And Piers?”
“He wanted to come with me” I replied and then, I chuckled when I heard my fiancée exiting the room in order to go to the bathroom to take a bath while I checked my notifications and after some minutes, Piers was also ready “Morning, babe”
“Remember to tell your friend Cynthia that some people want to sleep more” he said with a yawn as we exited the house, with Glaceon at my side “Where are we going to have breakfast?”
“Hammerlock” I said as we took a Flying Taxi that would take us to Hammerlock “Since the match is today and is in Hammerlock...”
“Alright...” Piers said with a yawn “And Sycamore?”
“He’s still sleeping” I replied “He will join for us, before the match”
Piers nodded and then, he leant his head on my shoulder, making me giggle a bit. The travel to Hammerlocke didn’t take us a lot, so in less than thirty minutes, we arrived at Hammerlocke. We exited the Flying Taxi and after stretching a bit, we went to the meeting place where we agreed to meet Cynthia. I texted her telling her we’d arrived, and then, we sat down on a bench. The weather was cold, but it wasn’t cold like other days, and lucky for us, it wasn’t snowing.
“So, this Cynthia, when did you meet her?” Piers asked as he embraced me
“During my firts journey through Sinnoh, when I was visiting Celestic Town” I said “We met in the cave that had ancient insctiptions abaout the Legendary Pokemon our legends talk about”
“I see...” my fiancée said and then, he turned his head on the direction that Glaceon pointed. A tall woman with blond long hair and black outfit was walking towards us. It was Cynthia. “I suppouse she’s Cynthia, right?”
I nodded and we stood up in order to greet Cynthia. “Raikichi, I hope you aren’t mad with me for asking you to have breakfast at this hour” she said
“Don’t worry” I said “Oh, I want to present you Piers”
“So this is the famous Piers” she said smiling “Is an honor to meet the first Dark type Gym Leader”
“Thanks, I guess” Piers replied a bit shy
“Aw, don’t be shy” Cynthia said with a chuckle, making both me and Piers blush “Well, let’s have breakfast!”
Piers sighed a bit in relief and I couldn’t help but squeeze his hand gently while we followed Cynthia. She guided us to a coffee shop near the Stadium, and since the weather was cold outside, we entered inside. Once there, we removed our jackets and took a seat on the table Cynthia booked for us. Glaceon yawned and started to lick her fur while we waited for the waiter. Piers and me asked for some hot chocolate with pancakes and for our surprise, Cynthia asked for some ice cream with her breakfast. “Ice cream?” Piers asked confused while the waiter also took note of some food for Glaceon.
“I love ice cream” Cynthia said
“I can confirm that” I replied “She loves ice cream. A LOT”
“Oh, c’mon, don’t be like that”
“Cynthia, I remember the day when you spent near an hour trying to choose an ice cream flavour”
“Okay, point taken” she said laughing “So, about the wedding, tell me. Have you planned some things?”
“Yeah, we decided what wedding suits we’re going to wear and we spoke with our friend Augustine about some wedding details” I said “But we have more things to think about it”
“Wait, Augustine? Augustine Sycamore?” Cynthia asked and when I nodded, she chuckled “I would never thought on meeting professor Sycamore here in Galar. You know he was one of the best students professor Rowan had, don’t you?”
“Yes, and it was professor Rowan’s research about Pokemon evolution the thing that made Augustine to move to Kalos and study the Mega Evolution phenomenom” I replied and then, I noticed that she was looking at me with a lil mischievus gaze “W-What? Why are you looking at me like that? Is because I call him by his first name?”
“Kind of” she said “Sycamore is someone known by the fact he never allows anyone to call him by his first name; only people he really trusts are allowed to call him Augustine”
“Well, it’s normal. When he founded his lab in Kalos, a lot of people understimated him for being a young professor, and some of them used to bully him making jokes using his name together with bad words. Even notable researches didn’t call him professor Sycamore” I said, remembering when Augustine told me the reason of not allowing anyone to call him by his name “For years he felt ashamed due the lack of respect, even if he was doing great progress with his research. Those people rejected to refeer to him as Professor Sycamore, saying that he was a kid craving for attention”
“Really? They really did that?” Piers asked, a bit of anger on his voice
I nodded and Piers sighed “That fault of respect made him not to have enough trust on himself to show people that he was a good professor, but when he was going to give up, professor Rowan called him and made him to gain the enough courage to shut those people’s mouths when he showed them his progress, and when they started to treat him with respect and refeering him as Professor Sycamore, he recovered all the trust he had...But since that day, he only allowed people he really trusted to call him by his name. Now he has left that hard part of his past behind, but he’s still keeping the thing of not allowing people he doesn’t trust to call him by his name”
“I see...And I see that he trusts in you a lot, right?”
“Well, we’re friends afterall” I said and Piers nodded
Then, our breakfast arrived at least. While we ate it, we talked about more topics, including if I was going to have more official matches, but I said that this one was going to be the last one cause I wanted to have more time for me and because the Gym Challenge was near its end.
After having breakfast, Cynthia decided to go by her own to visit different places of Hammerlocke while Piers and me decided yo go to Mototoske to pick Sycamore cause we wanted to train before my match and Sycamore wanted to see us training. Once we arrived at Mototoske, we went to pick Sycamore and together, we went to my uncle’s Gym after he told us we could use it to train.
“Still sleepy, Augustine?” I asked him with a bit of teasing as we went to the battle arena
“A bit” he replied with a soft yawn as Piers and me took positions “Wait, Cynthia’s ace Pokemon is a Garchomp, right?”
“Yeah, and I’m sure she can Mega Evolve her Garchomp” I said
“Then, why you don’t train with Piers and me at the same time?”
“That sounds good” Piers said and after kissing me, he called his Obstagoon while Augustine called his Garchomp. We started the training, Glaceon managing to dodge the attacks from both Obstagoon and Garchomp. In the middle of the training, Augustine made his Garchomp mega evolve, and despite of facing a mega evolved Pokemon and Obstagoon, Glaceon showed that she was able to deal with the two of them.
Near lunch time, we decided to finish the training. Garchomp returned to normal, and both Piers and Sycamore called their Pokemon back to their Pokeballs after giving them some Sitrus Berries. Glaceon ate her Berry before stretching and then, we went out of the Stadium in order to book a table on a restaurant near my uncle’s house. While we walked to the restaurant, I recieved a message. My Rotom Phone flew to my hands and when I checked the message, a groaned the low enough to not be heared by Piers and Sycamore, but my fiancée noticed that I stopped walking while I read the message, so he turned and approached me.
“Babe?” Piers asked gently “Is something wrong?”
“Eh? No, no. Don’t worry. I was checking something” I said and we approached Sycamore, who was also worried “Really, don’t worry”
“Sure?”
“Yes, is nothing serious” I replied and when both my fiancée and Sycamore shared a worried look before looking at me I sighed “Really, nothing serious. Now let’s go. I’m really hungry”
Piers nodded and Sycamore sighed softly as we went to the restaurant. Once there, the waiter guided us to our table. We removed our jackets and after putting them on the backchairs, we sat down on the chairs. We waited a bit until another waiter came to take note of the food we asked for and then, they brought us some fresh water. The food arrived minutes later, and as we had lunch, we talked about the strategy I would use againts Cynthia, having in mind all the training I did together with Piers and Augustine.
After the meal, we decided to go for a walk now that the weather was giving us a break. I needed to get my mind in order since in few hours I woould be battling Cynthia, and a walk was the best option, so there we were, Piers and me holding hands while Sycamore told us about some of the discoveries that he made between Mega Evolution and Dynamax and Gigantamax. Augustine sometimes was like a child with new toys when we talked about new discoveries, but it was part of him, getting excited when he discovered something new, but who I was to judge him? Piers sometimes said that I was like a child with something new when I made a new discovery. With a smile on my face and after stealing a kiss from Piers’ lips, we continued our walk.
----------------------------
Night arrived and in Hammerlocke Gym, everyone was really hyped about the match. I was in the changing rooms, putting my World Champion cape over me, but I could hear the people screaming of excitment. Glaceon tilted her head and then, she rubbed her soft fur onto my bare leg with a purr. “Don’t worry, girl” I said once I put the cape over my shoulders “We’ll win this”. Glaceon meowed and together, we exited the changing rooms, heading to the battle arena, where Cynthia was waiting for us.
“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to this battle for the World Title!” the referee started to say “Today will be watchers of the last battle for the World Title during the Gym Challenge of this year, and I’m sure this battle will be great!! Now, let me present you the two opponents!! Both are from Sinnoh, but one of them is the World Champion and the other one is the Sinnoh League Champion, and I’m sure she will do everything to get the World Title, so give them a big applause, cause here are Raikichi and Cynthia!!”
Once in the battle arena, I removed my cape, ignoring the cold breeze that made my skin have some goosebumps. Then, Cynthia called her Garchomp out of her Pokeball and of course and as I suspected, she had a Garchompite on a necklace around her neck. “This is going to be interesting” I murmured to myself
“Remember. this battle will be one versus one, and when one of the Pokemon of one of the opponents is out of combat, the battle will be over” the referee said “Now, who will win this battle? Will Cynthia take the World Title away from Raikichi or will Raikichi keep the title with her? Let’s see it now and let’s the battle begin!!!”
“Garchomp, use Brick Break!!”
“Glaceon, dodge it!!”
Garchomp was fast, but Glaceon was even faster, so she dodged Brick Break easily, taking Garchomp by surpsrise. Both Pokemon shared a challenging glare, telling each other that they would give everything in this battle. “Glaceon, use Ice Beam!!”
Of course, Cynthia’s Pokemon dodged it, but my goal wasn’t hitting Garchomp with it. “Glaceon’s accuracy is a bit bad, isn’t it?” Cynthia said
“I’m not sure about it” I replied and when she looked to the battlefield, she gasped “I told my Glaceon to use Ice Beam to create the perfect terrain for us. Now, Glaceon, use Hail at max power!!”
Hail covered all the battlefield, with dark clouds upon us. Also, Garchomp was suffering the indirect damage of the move, and I smirked when I saw her trying to protect herself with her arms. Glaceon’s Snow Cloak activated thanks to the Hail, and Cynthia knew that she was in problems now. “Let’s keep the preassure on” I said “Glaceon, use Triple Axel!!”
One, two, and three hits. Glaceon hitted Garchomp with Triple Axel three times, making the Match Pokemon suffering a lot of damage. “C’mon Garchomp, use Flamethrower!” Cynthia said and Glaceon moved quickly, but she ended recieving damage from Flamethrower. Garchomp threw another Flamethrower, but this time, Glaceon dodge it.
“Clever” I said “Using a move like that when Glaceon was near enough that she couldn’t dodge it completly, but we are a box full of surprises. Glaceon, Healing Bell on you!!”
Glaceon used Healing Bell, healing herself and removing the damage she recieved from Flamethrower. “Now, Double Team at the same time you use Quick Attack!!”
Multiple copies of my Pokemon appeared as they started to run to Garchomp, who was confused seeing multiple Glaceon around her. Then, I ordered Glaceon to use Iron Tail, and the moved hitted Garchomp directly, making her suffer a lot of damage that made the Match Pokemon to step back a bit.
“Garchomp, use Draco Meteor!!”
“Glaceon, block it with Blizzard!!”
Blizzard blocked Draco Meteor easily thanks to the power the move recieved thanks to Hail, and in that moment, Cynthia smirked and made her Garchomp Mega Evolve. Now Garchomp was slower than Glaceon, and we needed to use that in our advantage. “Garchomp, Dragon Claw!”
“Ice Shard!!”
Mega Garchomp got blocked again by Glaceon’s move, and when I noticed that Hail was starting to disappear, I told Glaceon to use Hail again in order to keep the preassure over Garchomp. “Triple Axel!!” I ordered, and despite of Garchomp trying to protect herself, Triple Axel made contact, making her suffering more damage. “Now, is our turn to finish this battle. Maybe you have Mega Evolution, but I have something that will defeat your Pokemon.” I said as I activated my Icum Z “From the coldest and hardest blizzards, from the most beautiful winters you rise up and shows your eternal beauty, shining with the first rays of the winter sun” I said “Glaceon, use Subzero Slammer!!!”
The Z move hitted Mega Garchomp directly, and after the dust and ice little crystals dissappeared, Garchomp returned to normal as she fainted, giving the victory to us. “Ladies and gentlemen, one more time Raikichi has showed that she will do everything to keep the World Title with her, cause the victory of this battle is for the unbeatable World Champion Raikichi!!!”
The crowd went wild as Cynthia called her Garchomp back to her Pokeball and I gave Glaceon a Citrus Berry that she ate happily. “That was a good match” Cynthia said once she approached me “It reminded me to the battle we had the day after you won the Sinnoh league and decided to challenge me to get the World Title, title that you won and I recovered the title of Champion of the Sinnoh League”
“Thanks, Cynthia” I replied smiling
After that, we went to the changing rooms, were I got embraced by my fiancée, who kissed me and peppered my face with more kisses when we paeted our lips from that sweet and tender kiss. “I’m so proud of marrying you, babe” Piers said, making me blush a lot
“Thanks, love” I said as I put my Champion cape inside my bag and then, I put my jacket on me
“That battle was magnifique!” Sycamore said “I could see that you really recovered your joyful battle spirit”
“Since there are going to be a lot of people out there, why you don’t go to Mototoske and have dinner there?” uncle Kabu said
“And what about you, uncle?”
“Don’t worry, kiddo” he said with a chuckle “Is your night. Be free of enjoying it with your fiancée and you best friend.”
“Thanks, uncle” I said and then, I looked to Piers and Sycamore “Shall we?” I asked and when they nodded, we took a Flying Taxi, with Glaceon at our side, and went back to Mototoske.
It didn’t take us too long to arrive to Mototoske, and once we exited the cabin, Augustine took us to the Budew Drop Inn restaurant and after locating a table that was on the VIP zone of the restaurant, we took seat. Glaceon meowed and when I nodded, I allowed her to return to her Moon Ball, just in time cause few minutes later, the waiter came to take note of the food we were going to eat, and of course, the drinks. This time, Piers choosed a sweet soft wine with a soft fruit scent, and when Sycamore tasted it, he got surprised.
“Whoa, this is one of the best wines I’ve ever tried” he said and Piers chuckled
“Budew Drop Inn and Hotel Iona shared the same wineries, so I thought that it would be perfect to give a try to one of the wines we will be offering in our wedding at Hotel Iona” my fiancée replied
“Good choice then”
We talked during the dinner, savouring the food and the wine, and of course, the memory of that night near two months ago popped in my mind, and it looked that it also popped as well on Piers mind, and when we looked to Sycamore, his smirk confirmed that he remembered it as well.
“Are you...sure of...” Augustine started to ask. As he promised after the first time we did a three some, he wanted to make sure that both me and Piers wanted to do it again cause he didn’t want to force us, and when we both me and Piers nodded, he blushed.
We finished the dinner and then, we went to the main hall of the hotel in order to take the elevator. Once inside, Piers started to kiss my lips while both his hands and Augustine’s hands were stroking my skin under my shirt, making me shiver and moan. Once the elevator reached the floor where Sycamore’s room was, we quickly entered inside his room and after closing the curtains and locking the door, I got my lips again againts Piers’. Since the wine we drunk this time was a bit stronger than the other that we took the other night, we only drunk a bottle, but was enough to make us more aroused. I smirked when I saw both Piers and Augustine’s bulges getting so hard that they groaned when they felt that their clothes were very tight around their hard cocks. I quickly removed my clothes, and once I got completly naked, I kissed my fiancée as my hands where busy with his shirt, and when his shirt was in the floor, we parted our lips, getting my trapped by Augustine’s as his shirt fell to the floor while Piers removed the rest of his clothes.
“Look how hard both are you are~” I said with as I licked my lips
“Hey, babe” Piers said “I have an idea~”
Piers looked at Sycamore before looking at me and when I understood, I smirked and nodded, enjoying when Augustine blushed so madly when he saw both of us kneeling in front of him. “W-What are...” he tried to said but then, he got interrupted by a moan when I gave a quickl lick to the tip of his cock before sucking it. After sucking him a bit, I popped his cock out of my mouth and allowed Piers to suck Sycamore’s cock, and for some reason that made me get more aroused. Augustine moaned more and more, as both me and Piers switched turns in order to suck him, taking short breaks to take breath and to kiss our lips as my hand bumped Sycamore’s cock up and down. “Ah...Ah...Fuck, don’t stop...” Sycamore moaned, starting to pant and to tremble
“Look at our Kalosian handsome man...You can’t even talk...” Piers said as I sucked Sycamore and with my free hand, I masturbat my fiancée soflty, making him moan and then, Augustine came, spilling his seed inside my mouth. “That was quick” Piers said as I popped Sycamore’s cock out of my my mouth and I swallowed before standing up with my fiancée and kissing Augustine, making him taste himself on my lips
“W-Well, I didn’t expect that” Sycamore said blushing madly as he cleaned himself
“Wanna try it with me?” I asked him as I got Piers againts the wall. Lust was on my fiancée’s eyes, desiring to see both me and Sycamore sucking him as we did with Augustine before. Sycamore blushed madly but when he saw me kneeling down in front of Piers, he nodded and did the same. I smirked and then, I licked first the tip before starting to suck my fiancée’s cock, and after some sucks, I allowed Sycamore to taste my fiancée’s candy. Piers moaned and groaned in pleasure as our friend sucked on him. Of course, I played with Sycamore’s cock as he sucked on Piers, and when my turn arrived, we shared a kiss before I sucked on my fiancée again. “This feels so fucking good...” Piers said between moans and then, he came with a loud moan. I pulled his cock out of my mouth and after swallowing, both me and Sycamore stood up in order to get cleaned before getting myself trapped between Piers and Augustine. PIers kissed my lips with passion as Sycamore bited and kissed my neck, and while Sycamore’s hands were playing with my breasts, Piers’ hand was now stroking my wet entrance.
“You’re so wet, babe~” Piers said as I opened my legs a bit, allowing him to intruduce a finger inside my vagina, making me moan. Then, a second finger and then, a third finger. As Augustine played with my breasts and nipples, and also kissed and bited my neck, my fiancée moved his three fingers inside my sex, as he kissed my lips and my neck, making me moan so loudly that we were lucky that the room was soundproof. “My Queen...My naughty Queen...” Piers said
“Ah, fuck, fuck” I managed to say “P-Please, faster...”
“I can’t hear ya~”
“Move those fucking fingers faster, Piers” I said with a groan. Piers chuckled but moved his fingers fasters, making me moan more “Ah...I’m going to...”
But a loud moan interrupted me as I came. Piers removed his fingers inside me and then, I grabbed his wrist and when I licked his fingers, tasting myself, he blushed madly. “That’s my naughty Queen~” he said
“This Queen wants her throne now” I said with tease in my voice. Piers blushed but nodded. He laid down on the bed and then, I put myself over him, with my wet entrance over his face. He started to lick my entrance, making me moan and then, Sycamore got next to me. I started to suck his cock while Piers sucked my entrance, switching between his tongue and his fingers as my free hand reached his cock and started to estimulate it stroking the tip. The three of us moaned as heat waves hitted our cores. When I started to feel near my orgasm, I stopped sucking on Sycamore and stopped masturbating Piers, telling them that it was time for them to switch. Now, Sycamore was the one sucking on my entrance as Piers gave me that candy of his to taste again while my free hand was busy with Augustine’s cock. Again, it didn’t took me too long to feel my orgasm near, and also, to feel their own orgasm near too, so I made them stop again. “I don’t want you to come...And also I want to have the longest orgasm in my life~”
“Raikichi, babe...” Piers said with a groand as he kissed me “Don’t do that...We want to come so badly...”
“And you will come~” I replied as they got cleaned before taking the packages I gave to them
Once they got their cocks covered by the condoms, Piers laid down on the bed again, his back againts the sheets. Then, I put myself over him, and once I got his cock lined with my entrance, I slowly went down, moaning as his length filled my vagina. Slowly, I leaned down in order to kiss him as Sycamore got some lub and stroked my ass and once he got it lubricated, he slowly pushed his cock inside my ass, making me moan again, and when I nodded, both of them started to move. My body was over sensitive and with each penetration, my moans got louder and louder. Piers and Sycamore moaned as well as he moved a bit fast. Our bodies wer so sensitive cause I didn’t only deny my own orgasm, but also, their own, since I wanted the three of us to have a long orgasm tonight.
“Ah...Ah...Fuck, fuck” I said between moans “That’s it, that’s it...Ah, don’t stop...C’mon, give this naughty Queen all she wants”
“As you wish, my Queen” Piers moaned as both him and Sycamore moved faster “My love, my muse...”
“You’re starting to get very tight...” Augustine moaned before kissing my neck
And then, the three of us reached our desired orgasm, and as I wanted, it was a long one. We panted as we tried to recover our breaths after the long orgasm. I leant my head on Piers’ chest while Augustine leant a bit on me before standing up and taking his cock out of my ass careful. Then, Piers did the same, getting his cock out of my vagina with care, and when both of them removed the condoms and after covering them with tissues and throwing them to trash bin, both Piers and Sycamore went to the bathroom and then, they returned with a small bucket filled with warm water and clean towels to get ourselves cleaned. After that, Sycamore went to the bathroom to put there the bucket with the towels while my fiancée laid down next to me, being him the big spoon. Piers kissed my shoulders and neck with tender as his arms embraced me. Augustine returned minutes laters, laying down at the other side of the bed, facing me. He covered us with the blankets, and like that other night, I was now between my fiancée and my best friend.
“I have to admit that I’ve enjoyed more this three some” Augustine said and both me and Piers chuckle
“True...” I said “I loved seeing both of you begging for your orgasms”
“You know I’ll get my revenge, babe” Piers said kissing my neck as he hugged me a bit tightly
“We’ll see that” I replied, teasing my fiancée before yawning
“Tired?” he asked and I nodded, making him smile “Then, sleep well, my love...”
“Good night...” I said, and the three of us fell asleep together.
---------------------------------------
“You have a work to do, agent Yukigami. If your superiors tell you to kill the objetive, you do it”
“I can’t do that. We have justice for something. If we really want to make him pay for what he is doing, we should bring him to justice”
“And what would you do if you’re in trouble and the only thing you can do to save yourself is killing the enemy?”
“I’ll try to find other way”
“And you cant us to stop understimate you...You maybe be the World Champion, but you’re the youngest agent here and as I can see, you’re still very soft with somethings.”
“Going there and killing the objetives isn’t how the Interpol works!”
“We’ll see how you will act when you find out that killing the enemy is your only way to keep alive. Now go, agent Looker is waiting for you”
-----------
“Look at you, might World Champion” Ghetsis said as I fought to get my hands untied “N has failed, but I’ll destroy you...Or maybe...I could enjoy with you...”
“YOU DON’T DARE TO TOUCH HER” N yelled, only to get hitted by one of Ghetsis men
“Shut up, monster that speaks with Pokemon” the old man said, pulling my hair so hard that hurted me, but I didn’t show any signs of pain “Join me and I will allow you to live...”
“You’re a fool, Ghetsis” I said and when he made the grip on my hair less tight, I got free and then, Glaceon cut the rope of my wrists and once I got my wrists free, I picked the Light Stone that the Team Plasma grunts loyal to N recovered and with a whirl of fire, Reshiram appeared, ready to fight at my side.
“Quick, agent Yukigami!” one of my superiors yelled at me “Tell Reshiram to kill Ghetsis!!”
“I won’t do that”
“DO WHAT I ORDER YOU”
“SHUT UP” I said “If we kill him, we won’t make him pay for his crimes. There is always another way that doesn’t imply killing the enemy”
“He doesn’t deserve to be alive”
“You’re being like him, deciding who has the rights to live and who doesn’t deserve to live” I replied “Reshiram, we need to rescue Zekrom first. Then, we’ll deal with Ghetsis”
The battle started, and it got intensified but then, I had to interjece to protect N. In that moment, I recieved a Poison Jab and a Slash in my belly, and slowly, everything turned dark as I heard someone calling my name and other one saying that I was weak, that I should had killed Ghetsis and then...Silence.
--------------------------------------
I felt a bolt of pain on my belly, just in the place where my scars were, and with a groan, I opened my eyes. It was around 4 a.m, and that fucking dream had woken me up. I waited to the pain to dissapear and after few minutes, I sighed and looked to both my sides. Piers and Sycamore were sleeping pacefully, and my fiancée embraced me a bit tightly; I was sure he noticed I was having a nightmare, cause when I started to relax, he also relaxed his embrace. I smiled when I saw the tattoo on the left side of his chest that also covered part of his left shoulder. It was like mine, two gracideas, but he got it in a normal way, not the way I got mine with hammer and cishel. I remembered the day he told me he wanted to get a tattoo, so we went to Wyndon to the best tattoo artist in all Galar and when he asked the artist to tattoo him two gracideas, I couldn’t help but blush, especially when he told me that he wanted the gracideas cause for him, there were a symbol of our love, of the bond that we shared and kept us together.
With another sigh, I thought on the dream I had. I wasn’t the first dream I had of that style, and all those dreams started after I decided to join the Interpol again. Fuck it. Why those fucking dreams had to hunt me again? Why they had to hunt me now? Was my brain telling me to fuck me off after joining the Interpol again cause it was telling me I did wrong? Maybe. Maybe I did wrong but there wasn’t any more options. And of course, Sycamore didn’t know it. I wanted to tell him, dammit, I wanted to tell him so bad, and despite of being one of my closest friends, I couldn’t tell him yet...And I knew the reason. He was so angry with Looker while I was recovering in the hospital. He accused him and the Interpol of putting me in danger sending me to dangerous missions. Of course, my duty as World Champion was protecting people and Pokemon, and if I had to battle evil people for that, I would do it, but being with the Interpol added an extra of danger to that. And for that, Sycamore blamed Looker and the Interpol. I couldn’t blame Augustine for being that angry; when I was in the hospital, Sycamore confessed his love for me, and I couldn’t blame himn to be angry since he was really afraid of loosing me...And now I was there, thinking on how I could tell my best friend about me joining the Interpol again. I was afraid of seeing him angry or upset. Piers understood why I joined them again, but I was afraid of Augustine’s reaction.
“Babe?” Piers mumbled on his sleep “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, don’t worry...Just a bad dream” I murmured as I let him embrace me again “Sorry for waking you up...”
“Wanna talk about it?”
“Not now, babe...” I replied with a yawn as I closed my eyes “I want to sleep...”
“Okay...Rest well...I’m here for you...”
I smiled as he hummed a lullaby for me, his arms around me as I faced him with my eyes closed, letting the sleep take me to dream again.
--------------------------------------------
Again, another nightmare. This one was about me facing Lysandre. Again that nightmare. I tried to get back to sleep again, but now it was my biological clock the one that wouldn’t allow me to sleep. Fuck it. I checked the hour in the phone. 7 am. I sighed again and with a lot of care, I managed to get out of the bed without waking up Piers and Sycamore. Then, I picked Piers’ shirt from the floor and I put it over me. I smiled softly when I noticed that the scent of his cologne was still there. I went to the bathroom in order to take a long bath. Normally, I would wait for Piers, and in this case, for Sycamore too, but I didn’t want to disturb them, so I decided to prepare the bath for me at that moment. As the water was fillinf the bathtub, I looked to the mirror. Then, the words of some of those agents popped in my mind.
““You are weak”
“You are useless”
“You should have killed him, but you let him stay alive. Death was the only punishment he deserves”
“Weak, you are a weak and filthy bitch that doesn’t deserve to work with us”
Stop, stop, stop...But the words didn’t stop. “Stop it!” I growled as I punched the mirror without thinking and with the enough strenght to break the crystal in pieces. It took me few seconds to start to feel pain on my left hand and when I opened my eyes, I gasped when I saw the broken mirror, with blood on it and then, I looked my hand with blood and crystals piercing my skin. There was also blood on the sink, and of course, more little crystals fragments with more blood.
“Fuck it, fuck it, fuck it” I said trying to find something to remove the crystals as I cursed cause I didn’t close the bathroom’s door, and of course, the crash alerted Piers. I heard him calling me from the bed and when I didn’t reply, we quickly came to the bathroom and approached me when he saw the scene.
“Raikichi, what happened here?” he asked as he helped me to remove with care the crystals I had piercing my nuckles
“N-Nothing...Is was an accident” I said as I tried to control my trembling hands
“Just an accident? By Arceus, you punched the mirror very hard, babe”
“Hey, what’s going...?” Sycamore started to say half asleep as he entered the bathroom before blinking twice “What the heck happened here?”
“Raikichi punched the mirror so hard that she broke it and now she has some crystals on her hand” PIers said as Sycamore knelt down next to him to help him
“It. Was. Just. An. Accident” I said with a groan as I tried to control also the pain, with my other hand making a grip so tight on the stool that the knuckles of my right hand turned white. Then, I heard both Piers and Sycamore gasped and when I looked at them and saw that they were scared of my voice tone, I took a deep breath and relaxed the grip on the stool “S-Sorry...”
“Hey, it’s okay, darling” Piers said as he finished removing all the crystals and once he made sure there weren’t more crystals piercing my skin, he told Sycamore to give him the first aid kit while he took a clean bucket with warm water in order to clean the blood of my hand. “Here, hold on me”
“Piers, I can walk”
“You were trembling a lot minutes ago” my fiancée replied as he helped me to enter the water while Sycamore put the crystal pieces on a bag and then, he put it in the trash bin before entering with us in the bathtub. We made the water overflow a bit, but we didn’t care in that moment. Once we made sure the water tap was closed, Piers started to wash my hair while Sycamore washed carefully my wounded hand “Wanna talk about it, babe?”
“Uh?” I asked after returning back to reality and noticing that Piers was asking about what happened “No...Not now...”
“Raikichi, you can tell us is something is bothering you” Augustine said
But my silence told them to stop asking. Piers knew that sometimes, he should gave me some time to tell things. He was trying not to ve overprotective with me cause he didn’t want to make me feel overwhelmed, and Sycamore looked at me with worry on his eyes, like Piers. Once I was cleaned, I managed to get out of the bathtub first. The wounds were still bleeding, so after cleaning the blood, I looked in the first aid kit for something to use in order to treat my wounds, but my fiancée was faster and once he got out of the water and got a bit dried and the bathcoat on him, he took my hand gently and started to apply the ointment on my wounds. Then, once he was done with the ointment, he covered the wounded zone of my hand with bandages, and made them stay tightly so I wouldn’t lost them.
“Here you are” he said and then, he kissed my forehead “Hey...Don’t cry, please...”
Was I crying? Fuck. PIers smiled softly and wipped my tears away while Sycamore, that got out of the bathtub as well, put a dried towel over my shoulders when I started to shiver. “Sorry...I didn’t want to disturb you and...” I started to said but Piers interrupted me kissing my lips
“Don’t continue that phrase, love” Piers said as I stood up and removed the towel in order to get dried and then, to put the bathcoat over me and the slippers on my feet “Now go to the bed and try to sleep a bit more while we clean this mess.” he added as he and Sycamore got the slippers on their feet
“Let me help at least...”
“Please, Raikichi” Augustine said “Go to the bed and try to sleep”
“But...” I tried to say, but Piers kissed my forehead and told me with his gaze to go to bed “Okay...Just call me if you need help”
Both Piers and Sycamore nodded and then, I went back to bed. Of course, Glaceon was waiting for me on the bed. It looked that she felt that something was wrong and she got out of her Pokeball. She meowed and sniffed my wounded hand before rubbing her face carefully againts it before I laid down in bed. Glaceon curled next to me and then, I closed my eyes, trying to sleep again.
--------------------PIERS’ POV---------------------
Once we made sure Raikichi was in bed, we closed the door with care before starting to clean the blood stains on the floor and on the sink. I sighed as I kept cleaning the blood while Sycamore made sure that there weren’t any more crystals in the sink and in the floor. Both of us decided not to ask Raikichi about the incident cause we didn’t want to make her uncomfortable, but that didn’t avoid us of being worried for her.
“Did she tell you why she punched the mirror?” Sycamore asked as we kept cleaning
“No...And I didn’t want to insist, at least not for now” I replied “But I think it was cause she had another nightmare”
“Another?”
“Yeah...She had a first one, but she calmed down and managed to sleep again” I said “I’m sure she had another one later and well, she didn’t punch the mirror with intention”
“I’m worried” Augustine said and I looked at him “When she was in Kalos, she asked me to get a boxing box that she could punch when she was stressed, and when she felt like that was cause bad things happened with the Interpol...That’s why I’m worried”
Dammit, Sycamore was starting to suspect. It was true that Raikichi told me not to say anything to Sycamore cause she wanted to tell him first once she found the enough courage to do it, but Sycamore was also my friend, and inside me, a little part of me wanted to tell him, but I wouldn’t betray my fiancée and I wouldn’t break the promise I made for her. “I’m worried too” I said as we finished cleaning the bathroom and once we put the bag with crystals in the trash can and the clothes with blood stains on the dirty clothes bag, we exited the bathroom “But let’s give her the time she needs, ‘kay? I don’t want to insist cause I don’t want to make her uncomfy, at least, not for now”
“Me neither” Sycamore said with a sigh “Listen, I’ll get dressed and I’ll go to the restaurant to ask for some food for the breakfast”
“Sounds good” I said “I’ll stay with her, oh, and...Don’t tell the recepcionist about the mirror...Not yet”
Sycamore nodded and after removing his bath coat, he got dressed and groomed and with the shoes on, he exited the room, closing the door behind him, and leaving me and my fiancée alone in the room. I went to the bed and after removing the bathcoat and putting clean underwear, I laid down next to her. Glaceon looked at me and nodded as she curled again, but when I stroked Raikichi’s face gently, she opened her eyes and smiled when she saw me. “Hi...” she murmured kissing me.
“Hey...Sorry, I didn’t want to wake you up” I said smiling
“Don’t worry...” she replied with a yawn as she sat down on the bed. I sat down as well, embracing her and letting her to leant her head on my shoulder “Sorry...”
“Don’t say that, babe...”
“Is...I should have told you but...I’m...” she tried to say as I stroked her wounded hand gently.
“Don’t worry for that now, babe...” I said and then, I stood up when Sycamore entered in the room with the breakfast. I quickly went to help him with the food and while we put the breakfast on a table, I noticed that Raikichi wasn’t in bed. “Babe?” I asked when I saw her going to the bathroom
“I’m going to refresh my face” she said as she entered the bathroom followed by Glaceon, closing the door behind them.
----------------RAIKICHI’S POV-----------------------
With a groan and a sigh, I refreshed my face. Of course, washing my face with only one hand cause the other was bandaged was a bit difficult, but I was acommodated to those things...Then, the memories of when I had to deal with things and troubles alone popped in my mind, but I quicky put them away as I shook my head before refreshing also my nape. Glaceon rubbed her soft fur againts my legs, making me smile softly.  With another sigh, thinking on what happened few hours ago, I exited the bathroom, followed by Glaceon.
“Do you feel better, my love?” Piers asked embracing me before sitting down with Sycamore in order to take breakfast
“Yeah, much better” I replied smiling softly as I took my cup with hot cocoa
“And the hand?” Sycamore asked
“Now it isn’t hurting, so that’s good” I said “Oh, I have to go to Mototoske Airport. I agreed with her to meet her in the Airport before she takes the plane back to Sinnoh”
“Oh, then we could go with you” Piers said but when he was going to say something more, his Rotom Phone vibrated and when he checked it, he cursed to himself “Shit, I forgot completly that today I have to go to Circhester to check some of the wedding things with Gordie and Melony”
“Wait, Raikichi isn’t going with you?” Augustine asked
“In other conditions I should go, but since today Cynthia leaves Galar, is my duty as World Champion to say goodbye to her, so Piers agreed to go to Circhester”
“I see..Then, if you don’t mind, I can go with you, Piers” Sycamore said
“That sounds good” my fiancée said smiling
We finished the breakfast and after getting refreshed and dressed, we left the room. We took the elevator and once we reached the recepction, I explained I had an accident in the bathroom and despite of the receptionist insisting that I didn’t have to pay the mirror, I gave them the money cause it was my fault that the mirror was broken. They accepted the money and after saying sorry again, we left the hotel.
“If you need something, call me, ‘kay?” Piers said hugging me before kissing me
“I will, babe, don’t worry”
“And if something happens...”
“Piers”
“Yes, babe?”
“I’m going to be okay, don’t worry”
“But...”
“I’m only going to say goodbye to Cynthia, just that” I said with a soft chuckle “Both you and Augustine should go. I’m sure Gordie and Melony are waiting for you”
“Okay...I love you, Raikichi” he said
“I love you too, Piers”
Piers smiled and went with Sycamore to take a Flying Taxi that would take them to Circhester, while I made my way to Mototoske Airport followed by Glaceon. Once I was there, I checked the phone. I arrived a bit earlier, but I didn’t mind waiting for Cynthia there. I sat down on one of the branches inside the airport, and Glaceon jumped onto my lap with a purr. I smiled softly and I stroked her fur, giving thanks that nobody noticed us. That was good; the last thing I wanted was to be surrounded by press.
“Hey, Raikichi” someone said and when I turned my head, I smiled. It was Cynthia
“Morning” I said, standing up once Glaceon jumped to the floor
“What happened?”
Fuck, she saw my wounded hand. “Oh, this? Just an accident”
“An accident?” Cynthia asked rising an eyebrow but she quickly changed the topic “Anyways, before I go back to Sinnoh, I want to give this to you” she added giving me a package “C’mon, open it”
I opened the packaged and I had to contain my tears when I saw what was inside. It was my pendant with Arceus symbol with three small crystals that represented Palkia, Dialga and Giratina; the pendant my maternal grandmother gave to me when I started my journey, not only as Pokemon trainer and Coordinator, but also as an historian.
“H-How...How did you...I lost it battling Cyrus before trying to stop him in the Distorsion World...How did you recover it?”
“With some help, but I managed to recover it” she said smiling “And I wanted to give it to you before I return to Sinnoh”
“Cynthia...I...Thank you so much...”
“Well, Saturn helped as well”
“Wait, Saturn?” I said. Sarturn used to be Cyrus’ second in command when Team Galactic was still up, and I had to say it but during the time I was infiltrated in their ranks as Cassiopea, Saturn treated me better than some veteran agents from the Interpol, and that was saying a lot. In fact, from the three commanders that Cyrus had, Saturn was the only one that didn’t have any idea of Cyrus’ true plans, and since he also helped me during the battle againts Team Galatic leader, I spoke in Saturn’s defense. The last thing I knew of him was that he opened a coffee shop with books so people could read books while they had their drinks, and that the name he put to his coffee shop was ‘Cassiopea’s Grace’. I smiled and nodded as I allowed Cynthia to put the necklace around my neck “Thank you so much, Cynthia...Also, tell Saturn that I’m grateful with him for this. I should call him one of these days”
“Be sure that I’ll talk with him” Cynthia said with a smile before hugging me “Take care, Raikichi. Don’t let anyone to break you down.”
“I won’t allow that”
“And be sure that I will be here for your wedding” she added before taking her things “Well, I have to go. See you soon, my dear friend”
“Good bye, Cynthia. Have a nice trip back to Sinnoh” I said with a smile
Cynthia smiled as well and went to take the plane that would take her back to Sinnoh. Then, I exited the airport followed by Glaceon. I checked my Rotom Phone to see if Piers had send me a message, but I didn’t get new messages, so I suppoused he was still with Sycamore, Gordie and Melony in Circhester. After putting my mind in order, I decided tot ake a Flying Taxi to Hammerlocke. I needed some distraction, I needed to relax myself, to find something that could help me with the chaos that was in my mind. Something or someone. Once I entered the cabin with Glaceon and after telling the driver that I wanted to go to Hammerlocke, I started to think what I was going to do there while the Flying Taxi flew to the city of great history. The most sure thing was that Raihan would be training since he was going to recieve the challengers soon, but he was a good friend, and sometimes, he acted like a brother for me, and I needed someone to listen to what was going on my mind. I needed advise, and courage too.
After more than thirty minutes, the Flying Taxi arrived at Hammerlocke. Glaceon and me exited the cabin and went to the Hammerlocke Stadium. There, I greeted the recepcionist, who told me to wait in the waiting room, but when I was going there, Aria, one of Raihan’s Gym Trainers, arrived.
“Oh, Raikichi, we didn’t know you were going to come here” she said
“Yeah, I think I should have told you that I was going to come...Is Raihan busy right now?”
“Well, he’s training cause soon he will be recieving the challengers” Aria said and then, she looked at me “But I can tell him you’re here, so he can also take a break before training again. Wait here”
I nodded as Aria went to find Raihan. I sat down on one of the chairs, and Glaceon sat down next my feet, in alert and on guard. The wounded hand was hurting a bit, but I could deal with that pain. I sighed as I put in order the things I wanted to speak with Raihan while I waited, and after few minutes, Aria returned followed by Raihan. I stood up and smiled softly. “Hi, Raihan. Ahm...Sorry for not telling you I was going to come here, I didn’t want to disturb your training but...” I said, trying to explain myself
“Don’t worry, Raikichi” he said, interrupting me with a soft smile. “Aria, tell the others that I will take a long break. You can train by your own while I’m with Raikichi” he added and when Aria left the place, he looked at me “C’mon, we’ll take something warm to drink and we’ll go to one of my favorite spots in the city”
“Raihan?”
“Yes?”
“Thanks...I mean, I...”
“Don’t worry” Raihan said smiling and guiding me to get some warm drinks and once we got them, we went to the Vault, but not inside. He sat down on a bench next to the entrance, and I followed him. Glaceon, of course, was always at my side, sitting next to me in order to lick her fur. “Here, take this” he said giving me a warm cup of capuccino with hot cocoa and a bit of cream on the top with some chocolate toppings.
“Thank you...” I said as I gave a sip to my warm drink, enjoying the delicious taste of it. Then, I looked up and smiled softly. Raihan was right; the sights from the the Vault’s place were incredible.
“C’mon, tell me. I’m all ears”
I let out a big sigh before loosing my smile. “Turn off your Rotom Phone and make sure we aren’t being spied”
Raihan looked at me but instead of saying something, he nodded. He send a message to his trainers to avoid anyone to go to the Vault and after that, he turned his Rotom Phone off and for more security, he called his Flygon and his Duraludon to watch over the place. “Well, now we are safe. No one is listening” Raihan said
I nodded and sighed again. “I’m...scared. Listen, seeing that the situation with the furtives made me return with the Interpol, so now I’m with them again...And well, when I punched this morning a mirror and Piers came to help me, I rejected his help at first and then...I’m scared...Scared of returning to how I used to be in the past, when I had to be alone...I’m also afraid of loosing Piers...”
“Why do you think that? Piers loves you, Raikichi”
“I know but...Since I returned to the Interpol, I can’t stop thinking on that...On Piers leaving me cause I’m not the brave enough to protect him or our friends...Or to see him in danger...I...”
“Listen to me, Raikichi” Raihan said, putting both cups apart in order to grab me gently by my shoulders “And look at me” At first I kept looking down, but I ended looking at him “Piers won’t leave you. Piers won’t stop loving you, cause he really cares about you. He really loves you, Raikichi, and if you need help, be sure he will be there for you”
“Then why I have all these thoughts in my mind?” I said getting myself free from his grip and leaning on the stone, my arms crossed as the breeze played with my hair.
“Because you have fear of being alone”
When he said that, I turned and looked at him. Both me and Raihan stood in our places without moving until I felt tears pouring from my eyes. I quickly wipped them again, but then, Raihan approached me and hugged me gently before we sat down again. “Piers told me a bit of what happened to you when you used to work with the Interpol in the past, and for how you reacted this morning according what you’ve told me...You’re afraid of being alone again” Raihan said “Nobody should pass through the same things as you, Raikichi, and I’m still trying to understand why those damn agents wanted you to do things alone and to be alone...But believe me when I say that Piers won’t leave you. He won’t do that. I understand that those thoights you have is because you don’t want to experience the same again”
“Raihan...”
“Tell Piers about how do you feel. Tell him about your fears. He’s the man who you are going to marry with, so open yourself more and tell how are you feeling with all those feelings that are hunting you” Raihan said and then, he smiled “And don’t worry, everything will be fine”
I took a deep breath and then, I nodded, drinking my warm-well, now it was a bit colder and once the cup was empty, Raihan took it to throw it to the trash can once we got down of the place where we were. “Thanks...I really needed to explain myself and I’m grateful with you for helping me to have my ideas more clear”
“Well, we’re friends, and I don’t like to see my friends suffering, you know” Raihan said smiling again as we took the elevator to go to the main floor “Well, I have to go back to my training”
“True...Sorry for interrupting your training” I said, a bit embarrased
“Hey, I don’t care about that. You needed help and I wanted to help, so there’s no need of saying sorry” he said
“Yeah...Thanks for everything, Raihan”
“Your welcome, Raikichi” the Dragon type Gym Leader said, smiling and showing slightly his fangs “So, what’re you going to do now?”
“I think I’m going to fly on Corviknight before going to meet Piers and Sycamore” I replied as I called Corviknight out of her Pokeball, and then, I mounted on her, followed by Glaceon “I wish you luck with your trainings, Raihan”
“Thanks, and take care”
I nodded and then, I told Corviknight to raise up and fly. We left Hammerlocke without thinking on a place to return. I still needed some more time for me to put my ideas in order before returning to Mototoske, and when we were flying over the Wild Area, I spotted a Gyarados and an Inteleon battling near the water and then, their trainer. I told Corviknight to land next to the Pokemon and when Glaceon and me got down of the Raven Pokemon, I got tacklehugged by Gyarados.
“O-Okay, I missed you to but...I need...”
“Gyarados, don’t do that” someone said and Gyarados let me free, allowing me to take a deep breath “Raikichi? Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine” I said and then, I smiled “Hi, Iwalani”
Iwalani was my cousin. I grew up without any more relatives of my age, so when during my training with the Interpol in Hoenn I discovered that in fact I had another aunt by maternal line, that was my mother and uncle Juan’s sister, and that I also have a cousin, I got shocked at first but then, I was happy, cause despite of she being three years younger than me, I finally met a relative more less of my age. Of course, the most shcoking thing wa sknowing that her father was Archie, the leader of Team Aqua, but for the time I met them, Team Aqua had changed since Archie found out that to make Pokemon happy, he didn’t need Kyogre, so he stopped searching the legendary Pokemon after being near of making it destroying Sotoopolis with Groudon, and after that, he made Team Aqua collaborate with the Interpol. In my case, Lance took me there to ask Team Aqua for help during my infiltration training, and Archie showed to be a very good teacher, and a very good father and uncle-yeah, I still remembered those big hugs he gave to me when he discovered that he had a niece. After the training, we parted ways, but Iwalani showed herself in Sinnoh, and then, few months after my arrival at Galar, she arrived as well, and despite of being by her own all this time, she managed to make new friends.
“So, what brings you here, cousin?” Iwalani said as we watched our Pokemon playing together
“I needed to put my ideas in order”
“And what happened to your hand?”
“I punched a mirror too hard”
“You what?!”
“I punched a mirror” I repeated
“You used to do that when you got angry or frustrated with the Interpol...What happened this time?” she asked
I sighed and I told her what happened this morning, how I reacted with Piers and also with Sycamore, and my talk with Raihan. Iwalani sighed but smiled softly. After I ended telling her everything, she put a hand on my shoulder. “Is normal that you acted like that...But you should have told your fiancée...”
“I know but...I have these feelings and...I’m scared, Iwalani”
“I know, Raikichi, but since you returned this time with the Interpol, you said you were going to be part of the boss group, right? Then, make those fools to shut their mouths” my cousin said standing up “For Arceus shake, you’re the World Champion, you are over them. You’re also the Queen, right?” she said and I nodded “Then show them what happens when they mess with the Queen!”
“I don’t know that doing the same I did with the enemies we chased is going to be a good idea”
“Of course it will be! If they don’t want to learn to respect you bt the good ways, they will learn to respect you by the bad ways. You’re the strongest trainer I’ve ever met, and you have more courage than some of those fucking agents that claim to be the bravest of the Interpol. I’m sure that if they had to battle againts someone that is using a legendary Pokemon, most of them would be so scared that wold run away as the cowards they are!”
“Maybe you’re right...But you are acting like your father right now” I said rising an eyebrow
“C’mon, even your father would tell you the same” Iwalani said “You’re Raikichi Yukigami. You are the World Champion. You are the Queen! Is time to show those cowards that no one messes with you without paying the consequences!”
I looked at my cousin, and then, I chuckled and stood up. She was right. Since I joined the Interpol, I allowed those thoughts and feelings return, but first, I needed to deal with the ones that were disturbing me since this morning, and for that, I needed to return to Mototoske and talk with Piers. Part of me was still afraid due those fucking thoughts but I had to confront those thoughts. It was in that moment when I remembered that I didn’t turn on my Rotom Phone, and I gasped when I checked it and saw multiple calls from Piers. “Fuck” I said as I called Glaceon and Corviknight “I have to return to Mototoske. Piers has been calling me and I didn’t remember to turn on my phone, so I imagine he’s very worried right now”
“Oh, then go. I have also to go back to Postwick. Leon’s parents are waiting for me and I don’t want to make them wait too much”
Oh, it was true. Leon and Iwalani started a relationship after Piers and me started to date, but Iwalani and Leon didn’t confess their love for each other yet. Despite of that, and knowing that Iwalani didn’t have a place to stay, Leon talked with his parents and they were agreed and happy of allowing Iwalani to stay with them. My uncle, well, our uncle Kabu still distrusted her, and when he knew she was here months later my arrival, he refused to let her stay with us, and I could understand why he distrusted her, but also, he should needed to start trusting Iwalani, but it would take time. For all these years, the only niece he had apart of my mother, my uncle Juan and my aunt Kimiko, was me, and knowing after several years that Kimiko had a daughter with Archie got my uncle Kabu more shocked than me when I met Iwalani for the first time. He felt betrayed by his own niece Kimiko for hiding her daughter, but also, he also felt betrayed by the fact that she had Iwalani with the man who let free Kyogre and near destroyed Hoenn with Groudon, and to add more things, she had her with Archie when he was still with those plans of locating Kyogre in order to control and use it for his evil plans. With a sigh, I mounted on Corviknight, followed by Glaceon.
“Have a nice flight back home” Iwalani said “And don’t worry about Kabu. I know you want him to change his opinion about me, but let’s give him the time he needs for that. I don’t blame him for not trusting me; in fact, he is on his right to not trust me since I’m a former member of Team Aqua and the things with my father and my mother”
“I know, but...”
“Don’t worry about that, ‘kay?” sha said and I nodded “Well, see you soon then”
I nodded and after saying goodbye to my cousin, Corviknight flew back to Mototoske. The flight didn’t take us too much time, and when the sun was started to set, we arrived to Mototoske. Glaceon and me got down of Corviknight and after calling Corviknight back to her Pokeball, I went to meet Piers and Sycamore, followed by my loyal Glaceon, but when I spotted Piers and he spotted me, he ran approaching me and I found myself embraced between his arms on a very tight hug.
“Raikichi, I was so worried” he said when he let me go before hugging me again, this time gently, and then, he peppered my face with kisses “You didn’t reply my calls and messages and I was starting to think that something bad happened to you...I’m so glad you’re safe...”
“Hey, I’m okay...I’m sorry, after saying goodbye to Cynthia I went to Hammerlocke to speak with Raihan and then I went by my own and met Iwalani in the Wild Area before realizing what time was...Sorry for worrying you, darling” I said as he leant his forehead againts mine before letting Sycamore hug me as well. His hug was softer but also, a bit tight. “Sorry for worrying the both of you...I needed some time for me...”
“We understand, Raikichi” Sycamore said “And what about your hand?”
True. I moved the hand and hissed a little bit after noticing that it was hurting a bit, but I didn’t notice it until now. “It hurts a little but, but I didn’t notice it was hurting before...Maybe it was cause I was so distracted in other things that I didn’t realize about the pain”
Piers and Sycamore smiled softly and then, Piers took my wounded hand and kissed it gently, making me blush. “Listen, why you don’t go back home? I’m sure Raikichi needs to rest and both of you need to talk about things” Sycamore said
“Augustine...At least, let us walk with you to the hotel” I said
“Don’t worry, Raikichi” Sycamore replied with a chuckle as he called his Garchomp out of her Pokeball “Garchomp will be with me all the way back to the hotel. I have still some more days to stay here before returning to Kalos. Really, go home and rest.”
“Thanks, Augustine” both me and Piers said and after saying goodbye to him, we went back to my uncle’s house while Sycamore went back to the hotel. “I’m sorry, Piers”
“Sorry for what?” he asked as we kept walking, holding hands
“For worrying you and...”
“We can talk about that once we’re home, babe” my fiancée said with a soft smile
I nodded and together, we walked back to my uncle’s house. During the walk, Piers told about what he and Sycamore did on Circhester, that was choosing some wedding decorations and also, to show Piers some ideas Melony and Gordie had for more wedding things for the big day.
We arived and before I could use the keys to open the door, my uncle opened it. “I was waiting for you both” he said as we entered and then, he closed the door while Glaceon went to the living room as Piers and me removed our coats. “Raikichi, can we talk?”
“Sure, uncle”
“Then I’m going to prepare you a relaxing bath” Piers said and both me and my uncle nodded
Uncle Kabu took me to the sofa and we sat down, and then, he took my wounded hand gently and removed the bandages to see the wounds, ignoring me telling him not to do that. It was in that moment when I froze, and my uncle noticed it. “Kiddo?” he asked and then, I blinked twice
“Sorry...Is...” I tried to say but sighed as I let out soft sobs “Why is this happening? Why I can’t get ride of this?”
“Hey, Raikichi...” my uncle said stroking my back gently “Is not easy to get ride of all the things that happened to you...Is not easy to forget those years, the things you did or the way you were...”
“But I don’t want to feel the same again! I’m scared of being alone!” I said, crying as I wipped my tears away “I...When I punched that mirror and Piers came to help and I told him not to help me...And all of those things came back to my mind after I decided to join the Interpol again...I hate it...I hate it...I don’t want to be alone again....I don’t want Piers to...I’m scared of ending alone...I...”
“C’mon here, kiddo...” uncle Kabu said hugging me “You’re not alone, Raikichi. We won’t allow you to be alone again...”
“I just want to get ride of those thoughts...”
“And you will...But it takes time, kiddo...”
“I know...” I said with a sigh before standing up “Thanks, uncle...I’m...I’m going to take that bath...”
“And I’ll do a proper meal. Go and relax, kiddo”
I nodded and went to the bathroom with Glaceon, only to be hugged by Piers when I entered after closing the door behind me. Was he crying? Yeah, he was, but also, I was crying as well. “Piers...I’m...” I tried to say but when Piers shooked his head gently and started to stroke my back and hair, I couldn’t help but cry and let all those tears away. Moments before I was trying to control it but now, in my fiancée’s arms, I couldn’t. “I’m so sorry, Piers...I should have trusted you more and not trying to reject your help like that...I’m scared, Piers, I’m scared of seeing you leaving me cause I’m not the enough brave or strong to protect everyone...Of being alone again with all the problems and...I’m also scared of not being able to make it if I have to deal with the danger and...”
The sobs avoided me to keep talking properly, and I couldn’t help but cough when I chocked with my sobs as I cried. Piers held me strong, but also, with tender. Words weren’t needed in that moment; he knew it, so he held me againts him as I kept crying until I started to feel exhausted. Slowly, I calmed down, trying to control the small hiccups I got after crying loudly.
“Better?” he asked gently as he stroked my face gently
“Yeah...” I replied softly as I removed my glasses in order to rub my eyes, and then, he hugged me again before kissing me gently “Piers...I’m so sorry...You’re the man I love, the one who has my heart and love...And I feel so stupid for not trusting you more and...I mean...”
“It’s okay, my love” Piers said smiling softly “I’m not going to blame you for that, babe...But I’m going to ask you something”
“Uh?”
“Let me help you. Let me help yo deal with the things that worry you. Let me help you to deal with that mark that those years in the Interpol left on you...Is so hard to see you suffering like that...Is so hard to see you thinking on those years...Let me be at your side and help you with this” he said “You’re not alone anymore, Raikichi. I will make sure that you won’t be alone anymore.”
“Piers...Don’t tell me that you heard the talk I had with my uncle...” I said and when he nodded, I sighed “Since I decided to return to the Interpol, I’ve been fighting to keep my trust in myself up but...When I woke up this morning, the words of those agents that used to understimated me cause I was young, ignoring that I was the World Champion, appeared in my mind again and without thinking, I punched the mirror, begging for those thoughts and memories to go away...I should have told you this before but...”
“Hey, it’s okay” Piers replied “You didn’t want to tell us at first cause you had your reasons, and I didn’t want to insist...But I’m glad you managed to tell me...”
“Yeah...But I thought you would be a bit upset cause I didn’t trust you...”
“Oh, my silly, dearly, lovely Queen, do you see that I’m upset?” he said smiling softly and when I shooked my head, he chuckled a bit “How in this world I could be upset with you, my love? I knew that you were having trouble, but I told you to take your time to tell me cause I understood that you needed time to put your mind in order, so please, don’t think I’m upset cause I’m not upset. And of course, I won’t leave you. I will be at your side”
“Even if I face danger?” I asked and when he nodded, I got a bit tense before relaxing “I don’t want to...”
“If we face danger together, we’ll be able to be successful againts it, more than if you face it alone. And remember that we have also our friends”
I nodded and Piers kissed me before hugging me and then, he helped me to get ride of my clothes, and once he got naked as well, we entered in the bathtub. Glaceon was still there, curled on the soft carpet that was in the floor, and when Piers and me were in the bathtub, covered by the warm water and the soft foam of the bath bomb, Glaceon approached us, sitting next to the bathtub.
“Piers?”
“Yeah?”
“Don’t tell Sycamore about this...I want to tell him”
“Sure, babe”
I smiled as I allowed Piers to give me a massage as Glaceon used Healing Bell. Slowly, I noticed that the wounds of my hand started to heal and then, when I looked at my hand, I looked at it with surprise cause I didn’t get any scars for those wounds. “Thanks, girl” I said and Glaceon meowed happy as she kept using Healing Bell to make sure the wounds of my hand were completly healed.
After the bath and after getting my hand healed, we got dried and dressed with our sleeping clothes. We exited the bathroom and went to the kitchen to help my uncle with the dinner, but by the time we went to help him, he was finishing preparing the desserts. “Did the bath relax you?” uncle Kabu asked as we had dinner
“Yeah, and thanks to Glaceon, the wounds of my hand are healed and gone. And look, no scars on my hand”
“That’s good, kiddo”
Both me and Piers chuckled and we spent the rest of the meal talking with my uncle about the wedding, but also, about the Gym Challenge. After having dinner, I started to feel my eyelids a bit heavier, so I went to my room followed by Glaceon. In the room, Sango, my Obstagoon, was sleeping pacefully with Piers’ Obstagoon. I smiled as I removed my glasses and slipped under the covers of my bed. Glaceon jumped onto the bed and curled at my feet just in time, cause minutes later, Piers entered in my room, and after closing the door behind him and removing his ponytail, he laid down next to me, embracing me. I turned to face him and I smiled as I closed my eyes, my hands on his chest.
“Tomorrow will be a better day” he said
“Yeah...” I said with a yawn
“Sleep well, my Queen, I love you”
“I love you too, my King...” I said and then, I fell asleep.

Just One Night (part 3)
Here’s part three, aka MC needs therapy lmaoo. Sorry this took a hot minute for me to post, I’ll step it up next time. Also sorry the timeline is kinda fucked, I didn’t really wanna like,, rewrite the exact scenes sjahfjaflks. But anyways, hope y’all enjoy it ^-^
Gaius Augustine x MC, don’t like, don’t read
You watched as Gaius visibly relaxed, breathing out a small sigh of relief. You were admittedly surprised that he was actually afraid you wouldn’t spare him, but you didn’t want to dwell on that now. You simply smiled at him, remaining silent. A million things were left unsaid between the two of you, but neither of you had the words to say them. You could only stare at each other, wondering what came next.
“Thank you for this chance, MC,” he said, unsure of what else to say. Gaius looked to the ground, turning away from you and the others. He walked towards the exit, casting you one last glance before leaving. “I’ll do you proud.”  With that, he was gone, vanished into the night.
You felt a pang of disappointment that he had left, but you ignored it, focusing on your friends. After a while, everyone had departed, and you wandered through the park alone, thinking everything through. Despite everything, your mind kept drifting to Gaius, who you imagined was far away from here by now. You sighed. It was just one night, that was all. No strings attached. Yet, you couldn’t stop thinking about how that night ended. Had you really meant what you said about wanting to make it a regular thing? Had he meant it when he nodded? It didn’t matter now. Maybe it never did. You continued walking in silence, deciding to head back home.
“Where are you going, my dear?” A voice called from behind you, causing you to stop dead in your tracks.
You whipped your head around to see Gaius standing on the cement walkway. Your heart skipped a beat, and you were unable to contain your smile as you rushed up to him, throwing your arms around his neck. “I thought you left,” you murmured in disbelief, feeling him stiffen at the sudden affection.
“Why would I do that?” He asked with an eye roll, his hands awkwardly hovering over your body, unsure of what to do. “You said you wanted to see me again, did you not?”
“Well, yeah, but I- I didn’t think you were actually gonna stick around,” you replied, taking a step back with a slight blush. “After you left like that, I thought- I didn’t think I would see you again.”
“I can leave.”
“No, no, that’s not- that’s not what I meant. I’m happy you’re still here, really. I just wasn’t expecting it.”
“After everything we went through, you didn’t think I would stay?” Gaius felt a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he looked at you, watching as you struggled to form a sentence.
“You thought I was gonna kill you,” you blurted out. Of course you would bring that up, of all things. Shit, you were stupid.
Gaius sucked in a breath, glancing away from you and shrugging. “You had every reason to. Nobody would have blamed you if you did.”
“I would’ve blamed me,” you argued, crossing your arms in front of your chest. “When I said I wanted to keep seeing you, I was serious.”
“As was I when I agreed. But there’s no telling what the others would’ve thought when you said you wanted to spare me,” Gaius answered, earning a snort from you.
“I guarantee you, they saw it coming. These,” you angled your head and gestured to the marks on your neck Gaius had left there just a few days ago, “aren’t exactly subtle. And neither are those.” You pointed to the fading bruises that littered his neck.
“Well, regardless,” Gaius muttered, self-consciously touching one of the marks, pink dusting his cheeks. “Thank you for, you know, not killing me.”
You chuckled, tucking a lock of your hair behind your ear. “Thank you for saving me from becoming Rheya.” A chill ran down your spine at the mere thought of being anything like her, but your smile didn’t falter.
Gaius frowned, noticing the way our smile didn’t quite reach your eyes, and the faint trace of fear and guilt they held. He quickly scanned the area, then took a tentative step towards you, slowly reaching out to take your hand in his. He knew you couldn’t be taking everything well, and he had to try something, anything, to help you deal with it. And this felt right to him.
To say you were surprised was an understatement. Never in your life had you expected Gaius to be the first to initiate anything resembling affection. Still, it was nice. You reciprocated, wrapping your fingers around his hand. You offered him a quick smile, leading him out of the park and down the sidewalk.
“Where are you taking me?” Gaius inquired, walking next to you, not letting go of your hand.
“Somewhere more private,” you responded, looking up at him with a small smile. You didn’t exactly want to talk about anything in public, and you desperately wanted to shower and forget about everything that had happened the past few days. You had rented a decent apartment not far from the park, where you were leading Gaius.
“Lead the way, Your Highness,” he said, a ghost of a smile hinting at his face. After walking a while, Gaius looked down at you, frowning at your expression. You looked exhausted and miserable, a haunted look in your eyes you stared straight ahead. He felt you squeeze his hand gently, as if you were searching for some form of comfort. He immediately complied, squeezing back and brushing his thumb over your knuckles.
You smiled softly, leaning against Gaius. You frowned when he pulled his hand away from yours, and you stepped away, worried that you'd made him uncomfortable, letting out a small squeak when his arm placed itself around your shoulders, pulling you against him. You looked up at Gaius, who stared straight ahead, his cheeks pink.
"Is this alright with you?" He asked, not looking at you.
"Mhm," you answered, reaching up to grab his hand with yours. "I didn't think you were the type to do anything like this." You let out a chuckle when he once again rolled his eyes.
"I'm not," he grumbled. "You just look sad." He now understood why you had talked to him on the boat that night. Damn, he must have looked pathetic if you decided to take pity on him. Although, what he felt wasn't pity. It was empathy, an emotion he never thought he'd feel again after Rheya suppressed it in him for so long.
"I'm not sad," you clarified, lying through your teeth. "I'm just tired."
"You can be both," Gaius pointed out, shrugging.
You didn't answer, you just looked away, your hands still gripping his. You turned into an apartment complex, leading Gaius to your building and unlocking the door, both of you entering before you shut and locked the door behind you. You let out a tired sigh as you slipped your shoes off, running a hand through your hair. You walked over to your couch, flopping down onto it.
Gaius watched you carefully, taking off his shoes at the door as you did. He joined you on the couch, though he sat at the other end, staring at you curiously. "The past week has been interesting, hasn't it?" He asked, breaking the silence.
"That's one way to put it," you sighed, forcing a smile at him.
He despised the plastered on, fake smile you gave him. "How have you been handling everything?"
You gave him a coy smile, shaking your head slightly. "If you're trying to get me to talk, you're gonna have to try a little harder than that," you commented.
"You're acting like a child," he said, watching as you raised a brow at him, clearly unfazed by his remark. He groaned, the sparkle in his eyes betraying him as he crept towards you, pulling you in for a brief hug.
You gave him a shrug at his attempt. "I was thinking something more like this." You leaned forward, gently kissing his lips, feeling him reciprocate immediately. You trailed your lips down to his neck, quickly pulling away when Gaius leaned back.
"Talk first, kiss later," he stated simply, his lips curling upward when you pouted.
"One more?" You asked, giving him a hopeful look.
"One more," Gaius agreed, pressing his lips against yours again, feeling you eagerly kiss back before he pulled away. He looked at you expectantly, sitting in a more comfortable position.
"It's been.. hard," you admitted, rubbing your upper arm. "I keep thinking about all that power. I was so close to being like her. If you hadn't stopped me…" you trailed off, not wanting to finish your sentence. "And with Jax/Lily gone…"
Gaius nodded. He completely understood, but he didn't know what to say to you to make anything better. Was there anything he could say? He doubted it. But the pain in your eyes made him wish he could.
You shook your head, as if to clear your mind of its thoughts. You looked at Gaius desperately, tears pricking at your eyes. "Please, just kiss me," you requested quietly, your voice barely above a whisper.
Gaius took one look at the broken expression you wore, and pulled you in for a kiss. He wrapped his arms around you, allowing you to crawl into his lap and loop your arms around his neck. He broke the kiss for a moment so he could better position himself, pausing when you saw a tear roll down your cheek. Furrowing his brow, he reached out to brush it away, looking mildly concerned.
You shook your head, sniffling as you met his gaze with a tearful smile. “I’m okay,” you said softly, earning a disbelieving look from Gaius. You leaned back in, locking your lips together again. You felt hot tears streaming down your cheeks as you kissed him with all the anger and passion in your body, Gaius kissing you back just as forcefully.
His thoughts wandered as he peppered kisses along your neck. Should he be doing this? Sure, you had told him to, but were you even in the right frame of mind? The way your breath hitched, not from pleasure, but from the way you tried to hold back your sobs, told him all he needed. Gaius pulled away from you, cupping your face in his hands.
“Why’d you stop..?” You questioned, your voice quiet as you tried to keep it from quavering. You tried moving in to kiss him again, but he held you firmly in place, a stern look of his face. You felt more tears sliding down your cheeks before you could stop them. “Wh-why won’t you-”
“Why do you want me to?” His gaze burned into yours. He’d never seen you look so helpless before, not even when he had killed you. When you offered him no attempt at an answer, Gaius let go of your cheeks and leaned away from you, waiting for you to respond.
Your chest felt tight as you stared at him, wide-eyed and shaking. Why did you want him so badly? Your bottom lip quivered as you tried to come up with a reason. “Make me forget,” you whispered, your eyes pleading.
Gaius was slightly taken aback. “Forget what?”
“Everything. Everything from the last few days. I need you to make me forget.”
Gaius rolled his eyes. “You don’t need me for that, you need alcohol. Lots of alcohol.”
“I don’t want alcohol, I want you.” Your breaths were shallow as you fought back the urge to cry. You drew your knees up to your chest, gripping your hair at its roots. “Make it go away…”
“Ignoring it isn’t going to make it go away, my dear.”
“I don’t care,” you whimpered, weakly glaring at him. “I’m asking you to do one thing for me, why won’t you?”
“Because you’re going to regret it as soon as you come to your senses.”
“I don’t regret that night on the boat.”
“This is different. And unfortunately, I do care about you enough to not let you have your way.”
You froze, pulling your head from your hands to better gaze at him. “You- you care about me..?” You felt the corners of your mouth tug into a small smile.
“I believe I made that very clear earlier,” Gaius answered, the same unamused expression on his face. “Now, if you’d like me to stay, I suggest you start talking.”
“And if I don’t..?”
“Do you really wanna find out?”
You shook your head, slowly bringing your knees back down, crossing your legs. “I don’t know what you want me to say,” you told him, offering him a defeated look.
“I told you everything on the boat. About me, about Rheya. Your turn,” Gaius answered simply, the expression on his face unchanging.
“Well, she killed my friend, for starters,” you said bitterly, your eyes darting to the floor, avoiding his gaze. “Then I almost became her. And strangely, that hurts more than anything else…”
Gaius tilted his head at you, fairly certain he knew why. But, he needed that confirmation. “Why?”
“Because at least it wasn’t me that killed them. But I could’ve killed everyone else. My friends, everyone in that opera house. I could’ve wiped out the entire world. Just like Rheya tried to do… I’m no better than her. Jax/Lily could’ve died for nothing, all because I wanted to have that same power.” Your voice cracked, and you clamped a hand tightly over your mouth, your body wracked with silent sobs as tears cascaded down your face.
Gaius had heard all he needed. He scooped you into his arms, cradling you against him as you sobbed into his chest. “You’re nothing like her,” he consoled you, weaving his fingers through your hair. “You never have been, and you never will be.”
“I wasn’t strong enough. I could’ve saved everyone,” you whimpered into his chest. “I didn’t do enough.”
“You, my dear, are the strongest person I have ever met. You did all you could, and trust me, it was more than enough.” Gaius soothingly ran a hand up and down your back, silently waiting for you to calm down.
Eventually, you pulled your face from his chest, wiping away the last of your tears. You gave him an embarrassed smile. “Thank you,” you whispered, shyly tucking a lock of hair behind your ear.
He nodded once at you, then stood from the couch. “Now, if you’d like to try a more relaxing activity…” Gaius watched your eyes light up, regretting his choice of words.
“Sex?” You asked excitedly, your voice overly-enthusiastic.
Gaius couldn’t hold back his laughter if he tried. “Not tonight,” he answered, placing two fingers under your chin and gently guiding your face up so your eyes met. “But if you’d like to shower, I’d be more than happy to accompany you.”
You nodded quickly. “I’ll take it,” you agreed, giving him a chaste kiss as you stood up. You took his hand, guiding him to your bathroom and proceeding to strip yourself of your clothing, tossing them carelessly onto the floor. You tugged Gaius into your shower after he had undressed, and turned on the faucet, the hot water instantly relaxing your muscles.
Gaius stood behind you as you let the water wash over your body. He wrapped his arms around your waist, burying his face into your neck and leaving a trail of soft kisses along your neck and jaw, finally reaching your cheek.
You turned your head, smiling when he planted one last kiss on your lips. You reached for your shampoo bottle, squirting some into the palm of your hand before handing it off to Gaius, who tilted his head at you. You wordlessly reached up, rubbing the shampoo into his hair.
Gaius smiled, copying what you had done and massaging shampoo into your hair. Once he was done, he watched as you rinsed the suds from your hair, doing the same once you had finished. The two of you repeated the process with the conditioner, enjoying the peaceful silence.
You grabbed your soap bottle next, squeezing some of it into the palm of your hand before handing it to Gaius and lathering it onto him. You ran your hands along his shoulders, then slowly moved down, your hands lingering on his chest and stomach. You moved forward, pressing your body against his, feeling every muscle.
"What are you doing?" Gaius asked in an amused tone. He gently ran his soap-covered hands along your back and shoulders, feeling you do the same to him.
"Multitasking," you replied innocently, pulling away from him just enough that you could gaze into his eyes. You placed your arms over his shoulders when he pressed his forehead against yours, your noses touching.
Gaius closed the distance between you, your soft lips eager to kiss his. His hands made their way from your back to your waist, moving further down to grip your thighs so he could lift you up.
You felt your back being pressed up against the shower wall, and you wrapped your legs around his torso, holding yourself in place. You felt Gaius pull away after a while, and you looked deep into his eyes. The slight tint of pink that dusted his cheeks, how his hair looked wet, the way the water rolled down his body. You were undeniably attracted to this man.
Gaius angled his head slightly, planting kisses all along your neck and shoulders. He felt your grip on him tighten slightly as he moved down, his lips brushing over your collarbone. You looked up at you, smiling at your expression. He gave you one more kiss, then set you back down on your feet.
You rinsed the soap from your body, stepping out of the shower and wrapping a towel around yourself. You handed one to Gaius when he emerged, both of you drying off in silence. Once you finished up in the bathroom, you led him to your bedroom, sitting on your bed and motioning for him to join.
He sat next to you, reaching out a hand to brush a lock of your hair from your eyes before cupping your cheek. Gaius ran his hand from your cheek down your neck, his fingertips lightly tracing your bare collarbone as he gazed into your eyes. He slid his hand down your side, placing his hand on your backside and pulling you in close to him, his lips colliding with yours in a brief kiss.
You rested your forehead against his, enjoying the intimacy. It was almost unbelievable to you that you had once seen Gaius as an enemy. You leaned back, covering your mouth as you let out a yawn.
“Tired?” He asked, rolling his eyes when you shook your head. He let out a quiet chuckle. “Liar.” Gaius untucked the sheets from your bed, motioning for you to get underneath.
You sighed, knowing damn well you wouldn’t be able to talk your way out of this. You reluctantly crawled under the covers, giving Gaius a pleading look. “Are you gonna stay..?” You tried to keep your voice from sounding too hopeful, but as soon as the words left your mouth, you knew you had failed.
Without a word, Gaius joined you under the covers, pulling you against him and laying back. “I’m not going anywhere.” He hadn’t been expecting to stay the night, but he couldn’t resist the look on your face, nor could he imagine leaving you alone with your thoughts.
You rested your head on his chest, a wave of exhaustion crashing over you. You let your eyes shut, the feel of his fingers in your hair and the sound of his steady heartbeat lulling you to sleep. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, you finally felt safe.

indemnify. (ii)
Gaius find himself trapped in her eyes. She got into his head and all he wants is to hurt her like she did. But he couldn’t. Not when it cause him a greater pain for himself.
(18+ Trigger Warning. Explicit. Smut. Heavy one.)
The story is set long after the last war with Rheya and Gaius is confused with his purpose. The story may sounds disturbing, but that’s how Gaius and Lily-Rose functioning at first. They seeks justification and solace for their loved one.
(Bloodbound: Gaius Augustine x Lily-Rose Raines (OC))
PART I. PART II.
i.
She stares at her mother’s painting for an hour straight. If she opens her cap, everyone will start to look at her instead of the painting. Lily-Rose realized the resemblance between her and her mother is uncanny with a splash of her father here and there. Thank God her parents are gorgeous.
She usually visits this museum until late, waiting for a certain person to come and do what she’s doing right now. She saw him first in the history book. Then every time her mother touched her when she’s feeding. Then in her dreams. And last time was in her connected dream with her mother that turned her eyes permanently red. Blood red. Doing nothing to conceal her true nature as a vampire.
Not that she tried to hide. Humans and vampires live together in peace now, with a little of stupidities here and there of course. She can walk under the sun, somehow, and doing just fine with eating human food. So she never had the urge to hide. She was born past beyond those hardships era that her Godmother, Kamilah, often told her when she was a child.
Her senses tingling when she smells him. She quickly moves from her spot and let him have his usual spot. He is earlier than usual. Tall, dark-haired, piercing blue eyes, sharp jaw, and sharp structure of his face. He is sharp everywhere. Even his smell is too sharp to her liking.
Lily-Rose has been stalking him for a month. After endless dreams and nightmares with his face in it, she couldn’t take it anymore. She needs to find him.
Gaius Augustine stands in front of her mother’s painting as always. 30 minutes minimum. Just staring at her like he is praying to her. Lily-Rose doubt that he is praying to any God. Yet his eyes always looking at her mother as her mother is his religion. Well, her mother is some kind of Goddess to many vampires. Including her father.
But this man killed her. While she was just a lowly human. Helpless one. Why is he praying to her now? Is he praying to her face? To her strength?
Lily-Rose aches to touch him. To get inside his head. To find out how to hurt him like how he hurt his mother. The last connection she had with her mother almost killed Lily-Rose in the process. Her mother’s memory of him was too unbearable. She faced death too many times. And Lily-Rose could feel it too real. Like she is the one who’s being stabbed.
You know, her hair is actually not that wavy in real life? She said, finally ready to face him.
He said something then turn around. She walks closer to him, let him watch the face he worshipped turned into two.
Adora. He whispered enough for Lily-Rose to hear.
ii.
Every time they met, the fucked.
Not like Lily-Rose hates it. He had her body under his control. But his emotions? She got it right under her palm. The more they touched, the more she reads his mind. And the more confused she is.
He wants her. Did he got confused to think that she is her mother?
She feels his pleasure every time he hit his release, spilling into her. But she also feels his guilt and shame. Should she be sorry for him?
Fucking no. He killed her mother. Tortured her. Killing so many people. He deserves none of her sorry.
“I let you taste your own sin, Gaius. I make you do what you love the most.  Making sins.” Lily-Rose said what she always wanted to say.
And he lost control on top of her. Everything just spilled into her. His fear. His pleasure. His guilt. His shame. His anger. His jealousy. His desire.
He cried her name. Lily-Rose grips his back, crying on her own.
She wanted to hurt him, but little did she know that she is just her mother’s daughter. She feels his hurt when she stills in his head.
iii.
“You get what you want. Now leave me alone.” He said as he gets off from her.
Lily-Rose, spent and confused, staring at him unmoved as the male one get off from his bed and sit in the dark.
"You can fuck me. All you want. But never, never get into my head again." He hissed at her. She stops her sobbing and sits down, "I can't hurt you if I'm not inside your head."
"Well, congratulations. You just did. Does it make you feel better?"
Betrayal. Too much betrayal in his stare.
"No. Shockingly no."
"I spent centuries, fucking centuries, having women inside my head. Controlling me. You aren't welcome inside. This?" He points to his head, "You can't have it."
She can feel her hand trembles so hard. She never feels this way before except with her mom. He feels terrible in her touch. His mind is too... too much in her touch.
"What is this thing you feel inside your head, Gaius?" her question came as a whisper.
"Fuck! Just go! Just fucking go!" His words come out as a loud groan. Shockingly, she is not afraid.
Pity. She feels pity.
Lily-Rose just stares at his blood-red eyes, unmoved. A second later, she is alone in his room. Gaius Augustine is nowhere to be found.
iv.
"I was born in sunny July. In the middle of somewhere in Italy. My birth was a shock, and unimaginable. My mother had to give up walking for 6 painful months with me inside her belly. I was feasting her inside her belly."
Fast pregnancy for too-fast growing fetus like her. She almost killed her mother.
After their last encounter, she couldn't find Gaius everywhere for 3 months. She couldn't smell him anywhere besides her own body. Now he is here, in the middle of nowhere in Barcelona.
"How the fuck you find me?" Gaius turned around.
Her heart suddenly drops to his belly at his sight. Too much pain. It's too painful for him to look at her.
"Our minds were linked before. It took time, but I know how to spot you again." She said, walking closer and close their distance. She lifts her hand to his cheek, staring at those blue eyes for a sign of rejection before she places it on his cheek when he nods.
"Adora could find you?"
"Anywhere. She could find me anywhere."
He closes his eyes and she can instantly feel his emotions. Solace and fear. Which one is for her?
"I can feel Adora in your blood."
"Well, she is my mom?" Lily-Rose chuckles.
He opens his eyes, "I couldn't feel Adrian on you."
She sighs and pulls back her hand, "She fed me her blood. It's crucial to keep me alive and not turning into feral."
"Why don't they just kill you? I couldn't imagine Adrian will agree to see someone feeding on his Adora."
Gaius' word hit her hard.
After she was born, it took 2 years for her father to be able to hold her. The fear, the anxiety, and little hint of hatred filled those blue eyes for the first year of her life. Well, she almost killed the love of his life. She couldn’t blame him.
“I bet someone already had those ideas in their head, but mom wouldn’t let them.” She smiles. Gaius nods and pulls something out from his pocket.
A picture of her mother.
“This is the last solid piece of her that I have with me. You wanted to hurt me that badly? Here, take it.” He said as he offers the piece of paper into her hand. Lily-Rose stares at the picture. All it takes to hurt Gaius Augustine is Adora Raines. That’s why it’s so painful for him to look at her face.
Lily-Rose has her mother’s face.
Those brown eyes, sometimes turned red, full of compassion and love. The only pair of eyes that never looked at her like Lily-Rose is such an unimaginable thing. To her mother, Lily-Rose is just Lily-Rose. Her baby. Her little baby vampire.
She knows she is different as long as she remembered. Everyone has been having a very good job of reminding her. She wasn’t turned. She was conceived. Adrian Raines got her mother pregnant and voila, the most unimaginable thing popped up to be her.
“I was feeding on her for a long time. My body growing so slow. It took me 30 years to be fully grown, like an actual adult. Like this.” she said.
Gaius looks at her for a minute, eyes travels down from her head to her feet. “And you grow up to be beautiful.”
v.
They spent their time mostly together. Barcelona, Milan, Moscow, Warsaw, Cannes. Mostly tangled in the sheet together. They fucked and fucked. Cried and cried. She let him. And he let her.
The touch of his skin and his emotion on her palms become too addictive to her. He always had new emotions with him every time they fuck. How can he handle that much emotions in one time?
Lily-Rose never tried to get inside his head again. Hurting him means hurting her. Hurting him means involving her mother. And she doesn’t want it. When his cock is inside her and it’s her name that he screamed through the night, she doesn’t want any other female hurting him in his head. No one but her.
“Do you have to touch someone to get inside their head?” He asked one night after their intimate session. Lily-Rose nods, “I couldn’t get into their head without touching like my mother did.”
“Is it painful? To have your power?”
For a second she sees worried in his eyes. “No when they are not hurting. Yes when they are hurting. But mostly I don’t really care about everyone’s pain. Just several people.”
Gaius holds her hand, kisses it before place it on his forehead. A second later, Lily-Rose bursts into tears. The loudest cry she ever cried. The hardest cry she ever made. Her sobs are chocking her painfully. Blood red eyes blazing through in the middle of New York’s midnight.
“Am I hurting you, Lily-Rose?” Gaius whispers as he kisses her tears.
vi.
She told him about her dreams. The one that took her brown eyes. And all other dreams about him inside. In exchange, he told her about his past from his point of view. None like the one written in history books.
They travel together in daylight. Even with his anti-sunshine technology, it still drained him a lot. Gaius still mesmerized by the fact that Lily-Rose doesn’t get affected by the sun. They walk by day and fuck by night.
After long fuck, drained and satisfied with their marks on each other, they just lay down and talk. About her world and his world.
Lily-Rose could feel a little less shame and guilt in his eyes. In exchange, she feels devotion and fear. But she doesn't complain as she feels that in her too. Maybe they linked their minds too strong. Maybe they fucked too much. She just doesn't care.
Gaius sees less of Adora in her. She just looks like Lily-Rose now. Maybe he realized too much Adrian's features on her face or maybe he had too much of her smell around him to think about anyone else.
They walk around, finding someone in need. She is a doctor. Sometimes she is Dr. Lily, sometimes she is Dr. Adrienne, and sometimes she is Dr. Anna. They changed their names in every place they visit. Only at night, they call themselves their real names. An endearment of intimacy.
Her mother knows. Adora knows that Gaius is fucking her daughter.
Once they accidentally met on a busy road in Berlin. It surprised him that he couldn't even realize her sooner. Gaius was too busy picking oranges for Lily-Rose when he saw her. Across the road, holding Adrian's hand. 4 of them exchanged glances for a minute before Adora and Adrian suddenly gone in the middle of the ocean of people.
"She said I smell like you." Lily-Rose chuckled as she sniffed herself.
He won't complain.
"What are you thinking?"
She whispers, stirring in her sleep before opening her eyes. Blood red eyes.
"Why don't you find out?" Gaius asked.
"You know I promised I won't get into your head unless it's urgent."
She did promise it.
The moonlight making her eyes glow more than usual. If he has to drown in blood, her eyes are the only blood he wants.
"It's okay. I give you permission. You won't hurt me." he guides her hand to his forehead and closes his eyes. A couple of minutes passed, and he opened his eyes to find her sobbing.
"What are you doing to me, Gaius?" She sobs.
"It will take longer than you could imagine, but please don't hurt me again. If you leave, it will be the greatest pain for me."
Her eyes glow in desperation. Yearning.
"I don't want to hurt you no more."
Gaius pulls her face to his, "Then stay with me."
God, whichever that is, finally granted his wish.
After 3 years of yearning, she kisses him.
They find what they looking for.
Solace. Purpose. Justification. Chance. Acceptance. Forgiveness.

Bridgens/Peglar Egyptology AU
(for the @theterrorbingo square “modern AU” | word count: 1k fic + 1.5k AU details | rating: T | warnings: mild spooky; talk of mummies; description of a panic attack)
The Terrors are all members of the Classics (Greek & Roman Studies) department. The Erebites are all members of the Egyptology department. These two departments share the beautiful Barrow Hall building on the campus of their university, but they do NOT get along….
….until Henry Peglar, a first-year graduate student in Classics, decides that he wants to learn how to read Egyptian hieroglyphs.
(Drabbles and AU info below the cut!)
It turns out that most students who want to study hieroglyphs have already finished the introductory course, however, because Henry ends up in a tiny winter-term class with only two other students. The three “hieroglyph 101s” all show up a bit early to their first day of class, fumbling into a dimly-lit classroom in the basement of Barrow Hall, across from the archaeological store-rooms.
They exchange quick introductions while waiting for the instructor to arrive. Both of Henry’s classmates are undergraduate Egyptology majors: Tom Hartnell is a bright young freshman with a passion for Egyptian mummies (and, admittedly, a slightly spotty undergraduate record), and Henry Collins is a terribly anxious junior who recently switched majors from Engineering (“Please call me Collins,” he says, after Henry begins to comment that they share a name. “Everyone else already calls me Collins.”)
The moment of revelation for Henry Peglar, though, is when he first sets eyes on their instructor: a senior graduate student named John Bridgens, who walks in just a minute after the hour, with a thermos of what smells like mint tea.
John Bridgens looks almost mournful for a moment, his dark eyes soulful, a thick pea-coat sitting heavy on his shoulders (which he quickly shrugs off; it may be a chilly January outside, but Barrow Hall is toasty and warm). When John looks over to his students, though, he smiles, and his face is transformed: Henry feels like the sun has suddenly come out from behind the blustery clouds.
Henry quickly realizes that learning Egyptian won’t be like learning Greek or Latin, but fortunately John is a very good teacher. Even though John holds office hours at an ungodly hour of the morning, Henry shows up to every office hour with a bright smile and a long list of questions.
What Henry doesn’t yet know is that he’s in for the most exciting semester of his life…
(Featuring such hijinks as: John and his students Henry, Tom, and Collins get locked into the archaeological store-room with the mummies, in the dark! Henry and Tom Hartnell uncover a secret that could overturn the Egyptology department! Henry develops an unfortunate crush on his instructor! What could go wrong!)
“We’re Trapped in Here, Aren’t We?” (Bonus Drabble)
The four of them have now been locked in the basement, in the dark, for over an hour.
Collins is quietly freaking out, sitting on a storage crate in the corner of the main room of the museum storage space. Henry watches Tom Hartnell deftly trying to help Collins regulate his breathing to a pace approaching normal, with some success; Henry decides not to intervene.
“We’re trapped in here, aren’t we?” Collins asks. He doesn’t sound panicked anymore, just stressed; it’s an improvement.
Tom rubs Collins’s shoulder reassuringly, and says, “I don’t know for certain, but I’m not going to let it worry me – we’re going to be okay, alright?” Tom then turns to Henry Peglar and tilts his head, adding: “Eddie Hoar told me that there used to be a secret passage that ran between Barrow Hall and the library, and that the door opened up somewhere here in the storage-rooms. Maybe we can find it?”
Henry nods, flashes a grin that feels fake but must seem genuine in the low light of the storage-rooms’ emergency lighting, because Tom smiles back at him. “I’ll go check on John,” Henry says. “See if he doesn’t know anything about a tunnel.”
Slipping in between the shelves of Greek ceramics, Henry winds his way toward the back workroom where he left John Bridgens, who had been convinced that there must be an extra key somewhere in the workroom desk drawers.
Henry is so caught up in thoughts of tunnels that fails to notice the packing box sitting next to the shelves and he manages to trip right over it. He takes the fall hard, feeling the chilly linoleum under his now-aching arm, his eyes squeezed shut against the pain. When he opens his eyes, though, Henry feels a bolt of fear run though him – for a moment he thinks he’s gone blind, because he sees nothing but darkness. A moment later, the ancient emergency lights flicker back on, and that’s worse because Henry is face-to-face with the mummy.
Henry had forgotten that she was stored here, under the shelves of Egyptian faience. He distantly remembers Dr. Blanky pointing out “the Egyptian girl, our princess,” in her lovely painted coffin, on a tour through the storage rooms last year when he had been a prospective student – but the fact that she was down here (trapped with us, his mind whispers) had escaped his mind.
Shuddering, Henry pushes himself up from the cold floor and backs up against the wall as the lights keep flickering. He knows, he knows, that there’s nothing to fear here, but the sight of the girl’s skin, drawn tight against her skin, her eerie grimace, had shaken him.
“Henry?”
Henry jumps about a foot in the air, but it’s just John, peering out from the workroom door.
“Henry, are you okay?” John continues, his brow furrowed with worry.
Henry swallows. “Yup, yeah, just took a tumble.” He straightens up, tries to collect himself. “Did you find an extra key?” he asks John.
But John isn’t so easily dissuaded. “Are you sure you’re alright?” He steps up next to Henry, a hand hovering over the arm that Henry’s cradling to his chest (Henry’s certain it isn’t broken, but he knows it’ll be bruised a bit).
Henry looks up into John’s eyes and exhales softly to see the loving concern written there. John’s so close now, lifting a hand toward Henry’s cheek, and Henry wants this, wants to reach out and embrace; he finally feels his limbs stop shaking now that John’s here, even as his heart races and his face tilts up…
…. and that’s the moment when the emergency lights finally flicker their last, and the corridor goes dark as a tomb.

Some Background on the Humanities Departments of Barrow Hall
The Department of Classics
The Classics program at Barrow Hall is small but powerful. Most of the faculty get along well with each other, professionally, although they don’t socialize much. There aren’t many graduate students in the program, but most of the grad students they do have are quite active on the university campus.
Classics Faculty
Dr. Crozier is the department chair of the Classics program. He teaches early Roman history, with a focus on land surveying, and he takes a very scientific approach to his material.
Dr. Little is an associate professor who teaches Greek military history and gets very excited about ancient weapons. (“Like the shot that killed Leonidas at Thermopylae!”)
Dr. Hodgson is an associate professor who teaches Greek drama; he’s particularly obsessed with the tragedies of Euripides – the more ritualistic violence the better.
Dr. Irving is an assistant professor who teaches later Roman history, and can turn any conversation into a debate about the early history of Christianity. His most recent book was titled “Coming Out Christian in the Roman World: How the Followers of Jesus Made a Place in Caesar's Empire.” * Despite Irving’s own Christian faith and his social justice outreach work with the campus Queer Interfaith club, Irving’s a bit of a chronological traditionalist when it comes to academic research, and tends to dismiss any literature written after Augustine.
Drs. Peddie and MacDonald are actually part of the History Department, but because they teach Medieval Latin, they’re considered honorary members of the classics faculty. (MacDonald teaches a wildly popular undergraduate seminar – cross-listed with Classics and History – called “Witches, Ghosts, and Potions: Medical Mysteries in Medieval Europe.”)
Dr. Blanky is the exception to the “we hate the Egyptologists” rule – Thomas gets along quite well with a certain Dr. Reid, both of whom have a passion for film studies, and together they’ve organized a weekly historical film series for the undergrads. Dr. Reid’s top picks are old-school classics like Cleopatra (1963) and Julius Caesar (1953); Blanky, on the other hand, is partial to Gladiator (2000). He’s also the exception to the “this department doesn’t socialize rule,” being, himself, a long-time best friend of department chair Dr. Crozier.
Classics Grad Students
Thomas Jopson is an older graduate student – he’s just a breath away from receiving his PhD: Dr. Crozier, who has been supervising his thesis on the systems of enslavement in the Roman Republic and the lived experiences of Roman slaves, is extremely proud of Thomas’s sensitive eye for historical evidence. Thomas also works for the campus mental health office, leading a therapy group for adult children of those suffering from addiction.
Billie Gibson, another grad student, is part-way through writing his dissertation on the reception of Greek ideas about homosexuality in the Victorian period, under the supervision of a confused but supportive Dr. Irving. (“Isn’t this more of a History department topic?”)
“Hickey” started the PhD program at the same time as Billie, and he’s begun writing his thesis on cannibalistic imagery in Greek poetry with Dr. Hodgson. Everyone just calls him Hickey, and Henry Peglar hasn’t been able to figure out his full name (or whether “Hickey” is a first name or a last name, or even whether “Hickey” is part of his real name at all) because no one ever updates the Classics department website. Hickey is part of a student organization called the Dionysians, but they’re not listed on the university’s roster of sanctioned clubs, and no one seems to know what it is that they do, exactly.
Henry Peglar is the newest member of the department, a first-year grad student. He’s planning on studying depictions of ancient history in modern fiction, hopefully with Dr. Blanky, who also happens to be his first-year advisor.
The Department of Egyptology
The Egyptology program at Barrow Hall has been having some hiring problems in recent years. Not only did several older professors retire, but the young Dr. Gore decided to move into museum-work full-time and Dr. Fairholme was ‘poached’ by the rival Egyptology program at another university. As a result, the Department of Egyptology has been under-staffed, with too many grad students and too few professors, resulting in two controversial recent faculty hires.
Egyptology Faculty
Dr. John is the department chair of the Egyptology program. He teaches ancient Egyptian literature and has a rather old-fashioned perspective on middle Egyptian grammar.
Dr. Reid teaches courses on the history of archaeological discoveries in Egypt, and the culture of artifact (mis-)handling by European excavators. He’s friendly with Dr. Blanky in the Classics program, and he lovingly crafts discussion questions for the film-showings that he and Blanky run. (He’ll never admit it, but he secretly loves the 1999 Mummy movie.)
Dr. Stanley teaches classes on ancient Egyptian medicine. He’s known for his severe grading policies and for his impressive ability to ruin the fun of topic that involves things like magic spells and fever-demons and having sex with crocodiles.
Dr. Fitzjames is one of the two new faculty members, a dashing archaeologist with an impressive résumé of excavation in Egypt – although, as Dr. Crozier has wryly observed, some of his funding sources for those digs haven’t always been completely above-board.
Dr. Le Vesconte is the other new faculty member, an associate professor with an equally flashy history of excavation and publication. Rumor is that he and Dr. Fitzjames once found a live cheetah in an Egyptian tomb and tried to keep it as the excavation’s mascot.
Egyptology Grad Students
Edmund “Eddie” Hoar is a senior doctoral candidate, working dedicatedly on a massive dissertation about Egyptian stamps and seals. He’s been working with Dr. John because his old advisor recently retired, and with Eddie’s advisor gone, Eddie’s pretty much the only person on campus who knows his way around the dusty archaeological collection in the basement of Barrow Hall.
John Bridgens has been with the program about as long as Eddie, but he’s closer to finishing his thesis, a sprawling dissertation on Egyptian poetry under Dr. John’s supervision.
Charles “Freddie” Des Voeux is part-way through writing a thesis on Napoleon’s excavations in Egypt; his advisor is Dr. Reid. (He’s also roommates with Eddie Hoar, and the two of them are known as “(Fr)eddie” in the grad student group chat.)
Harry Goodsir is a first-year PhD student, who entered the program at the same time Henry Peglar started in Classics; the two of them met at the university-wide graduate student orientation, and Harry encouraged Henry to take hieroglyphs, which Harry had learned himself while he was an undergraduate, while volunteering with his siblings at an Egyptian museum in their hometown. Harry’s interested in Egyptian archaeology, hoping to study with Dr. Fitzjames and Dr. Le Vesconte, but there was a paperwork mix-up that placed Dr. Stanley as Harry’s first-year advisor (Harry is unhappy about it; Dr. Stanley is even more unhappy about it).
Members of Associated Departments in Nearby Ross Hall (& Their Drama)
Dr. James C. Ross is the co-chair of the anthropology program and a dear friend of Dr. Crozier in classics. Though he does have a complicated legacy with the university – being a descendent of the famous (if problematic) explorer, Sir John Ross, for whom Ross Hall is named – Dr. James is well-liked by his students and forward-thinking about his discipline.
Ross’s co-chair, Dr. Silna Kamookak, thinks Ross could stand to apply his anthropology to real-world problems a bit more intensively. Dr. Kamookak is a rising star in applied archaeology and she publishes on issues of museum collection ethics and heritage management; the graduate seminar she teaches on Inuit oral history documentation is known to be one of the best courses in the department.
Dr. Jane Franklin is the chair of English Literature; her research interests revolve around the writings of Charles Dickens. All the students in Barrow Hall call her “Dr. Jane,” and call her husband “Dr. John,” because neither would agree to let the other be called “Dr. Franklin.” A memo was circulated. It was messy.
Dr. Sophia Cracroft is an assistant professor in the History of Science department, and a frequent collaborator with Dr. Crozier in an ongoing interdisciplinary project about ancient cartography; although Dr. Cracroft has often tried to get Dr. John Franklin to permit a collaboration with the Egyptology department, Dr. John has always refused. Cracroft’s grad students say that it’s because Dr. John heard something “unsavory” about the relationship between Dr. Cracroft and Dr. Crozier. None of the grad students know what this “unsavory” thing is, but gossip ranges from the vanilla (an affair) to the bizarre (a papyrus smuggling ring).
Other Details
Goldner’s is a purveyor of textbooks of dubious quality. For some reason, all of the introductory language classes in both the Classics and Egyptology departments are always assigned Goldner’s textbooks, much to the students’ and instructors’ displeasure.
* “Coming Out Christian in the Roman World: How the Followers of Jesus Made a Place in Caesar's Empire,” is a real book! (It was not, however, written by John Irving.) I had a fantastic time reading it a few years ago – go check it out.

NSFW ALPHABET
ft. Jean-Baptiste Augustin
Tumblr media
A = Aftercare (What they're like after sex)
So very kind and attentive. He makes sure to clean every inch of you and will hold you in his warm embrace until you both drift off into a peaceful slumber.
B = Body part (Their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
He's quite proud of his ass and how perfectly plump and round it is. (Don't judge him) For you, your eyes are special and really everything else is, but he loses himself when he states off into them.
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically… I’m a disgusting person)
Baptiste never cums inside you-even with a condom on, so he'll quickly pull out towards the edge of his release and sputter thick ribbons of warm cum on your stomach or back. Don't worry, he has a towel on standby.
D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
He would love to participate in a threesome. Something about the extra bodies sliding and rubbing against each other just seems so erotic to him.
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
Sure, he's a naturally suave and handsome man but more importantly he's BUSY, so with that being said he's had a couple of late-night adventures with strangers but not a ton. Don't underestimate him though, because he knows exactly what to do.
F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying. Will probably include a visual)
Just you laying on your side with your leg draped loosely over his thigh as he slowly thrusts himself into you all while sucking your neck is good enough for him.
G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)
Both! He can't help but crack a few witty one-liners in such a sensual moment.
H = Hair (How well-groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)
He has dark and curly pubes that are kept trim because a wild bush rubbing against the fabric of his pants is uncomfortable af.
I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…)
Such a snob for cheesy romantic stuff, like, roses trailing to his naked body or having him give you an oiled massage.
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
He doesn't have the time to indulge, but when he's frustrated or bored then he'll participate in some alone time.
K = Kink (One or more of their kinks)
He's pretty open to a lot of kinks, but his personal favs are light bondage and phone sex.
L = Location (Favourite places to do the do)
The bedroom or couch. Comfort comes first, right?
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
Just the thought of you wanting him. Baptiste always wondered what's going on in people's minds and what made them want to say this or that, and with you, he doesn't have to wonder because you tell him how you truly feel. So, show him how attracted you are to him and he'll look at you with puppy eyes throughout the night.
N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
No physical harm in any way. He's a healer after all and with that job you're supposed to help, not purposely cause pain.
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
LOVES to give just to see you become a squirming mess, but he won't say no to a blow job. He knows all the places that'll make you melt and takes advantage of them to gift you endless waves of pleasure.
P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)
Nice and slow towards the start, but his thrusts become more erratic when he edges near.
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)
Big fan of them, especially if the two of you work in the same field, then he'll swing your waist close to his torso and kiss you until you're left breathless. Next, a quick look to make sure that nobody is snooping, and finally pants off!
R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.)
It's already quite risky having a quickie in a work environment, so he's open to experimenting. Just as long as it doesn't hurt you in any way.
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…)
It really depends on how much he's into it because it can range from fifteen minutes to a full hour.
T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)
Toys are a bit of a foreign topic for him, but if it amplifies the experience, then he's game.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
If you're being a brat then expect a lot of edging, but in general he doesn't since your pleasure is important to him.
V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make)
Loud in your face moaning and grunting. Why hide the fact that you make him feel so good?
W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice)
All of the Talon agents had a crush on him due to his irresistible charm and intelligence with making new equipment, and he may even shagged a few.
X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words)
Six inches when fully erect with large veins and a slender shaft. He's uncircumcised as well.
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
In general not very high because of his busy and unpredictable schedule but with a partner it's moderate. Sex isn't everything in a relationship. Communication, balance, and trust is.
Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
He passes out very quickly if you couldn't tell from A lol.
This was really fun to write but took forever to finish!
Who would you like to see next?

A Second Opinion Pt. 5
(Previously Titled “Villains want a Valkyrie)
Previous Chapters: 1, 2, 3, 4
Read it on AO3 Here
-----
Reaper was lying on his side in a hospital gown on an examination table as several labtechs fussed over him while Moira looked on. Beneath the too-cold fluorescent lights of Talon’s med-bay, it was the sort of image that would make you laugh, not because it was funny, but rather because it was uncomfortable with the unnerving vulnerability of it all, but no one was laughing. One of the labtechs handed Moira the syringe and she quietly took it.
“You know this whole mess started with me having one ass cheek out,” said Reaper.
“Ventrogluteal injections and pelvic bone marrow samples are very normal medical procedures, Gabriel,” said Moira, holding the syringe up to the light and squinting at it.
“Are you sure taking more bits out of me is going to help?” said Reaper.
“Bone marrow extraction takes its toll, but it wasn’t as if you were mission ready anyway,” said Moira. One corner of her mouth twisted up with her focus, “I am seeing some nanite particulates in your marrow, which is to be expected... obviously...” she trailed off slightly and huffed, knowing there wasn’t much she could observe just holding it up to the light, “I’ll examine it more closely and run more tests. See if there’s anything I missed since the last time.”
“See what the Doc says about it,” said Reaper.
“That’s why she’s here, isn’t it?” said Moira, no bitterness leaving her voice.
“How is she?” said Reaper.
“Stubborn and passive aggressive as ever,” said Moira.
“I mean do you think she can help?” said Reaper.
“I believe you had my opinion before we brought her her here,” said Moira.
“Moira,” said Reaper.
“That remains to be seen,” said Moira, “If she can’t, well there’s always a bullet and the canals. And if she can... there’s a bullet and the canals.”
----
“No, it should only take a few minutes--” McCree was talking into his comm, pacing back and forth in front of Athena’s monitor. Some irritated chatter could be heard on the other side. “No, I don’t only call you when I need a teleporter! That’s ridiculous! We’re buddies, right?”
McCree seemed to wince a little as he received what could only be Satya’s eviscerating assessments of his character on the other end of the comm.
“Tell you what--Do me this solid and I’ll get that weird blotch out of the orca’s couch that you’re always complaining about,” said McCree.
A monosyllabic response was heard on the other end.
“You hate that blotch!” said McCree. McCree was chewing his lip as he paced back and forth in the room, Satya continuing to admonish and verbally cut him to ribbons on the other side of the comm. He could feel Hanzo’s steady gaze tracking him back and forth, but even worse was Baptiste’s eyes on him through the vid-com.
Genji himself seemed to have gotten into the habit of repeatedly fidgeting with his prosthetic arm’s shuriken loading mechanism to try and stave off his maelstrom of worries about Angela, sliding his wrist plate back and forth and clicking the shuriken out of place and back in. We should be going now, he thought, What if they’re hurting her? She’s fighting back. She has to. And they’ll hurt her for fighting back. They’re hurting her right now and you’re here and you’re a useless useless useless stupid pile of nuts and bolts with a handful of organs slapped on there who should have gone with her to that conference. This wouldn’t have happened if you were at that conference but nooooo you didn’t want to sit through a few 3 hour lectures and now---
“...is it always like this?” Baptiste spoke a little softly to Hanzo.
“I’m still getting used to it myself,” said Hanzo with a chuckle.
They’ve been talking for five minutes and he’s got a chuckle? It took me weeks to get Hanzo to crack a smile! Okay. Shut up brain. The Doc. This is about the doc. The thought flinched through McCree’s mind and blanked out Satya’s voice on the comm only briefly before he snapped back to attention and blurted out, “Dagnabbit, Satya, lives are on the line!”
There was a pause on Satya’s end and then an, “Understood.”
“...Seriously?” said McCree.
“Lives are on the line, as you say,” said Satya, “I’ll be there with the necessary equipment for a teleporter in a few minutes.”
“Th..thanks...” said McCree, honestly amazed he managed to convince her. Then again she was . He clicked out of the comm.
“A few minutes,” he said, looking back at the Shimada brothers and Baptiste on the Vid-com, “Then we can have you over here like that.” He snapped his fingers before turning to Genji, “I can still call it off--so I want you to be sure about this---”
“I’m sure---” Genji started.
“You’re not sure, you’re scared, and that’s fine,” said McCree, “But we shouldn’t trust this guy just because you’re desperate to get the Doc back. You can’t just go on Hanzo’s word.”
Genji straightened his shoulders, “You’re right,” he said, before turning to Baptiste on the screen, “You said you worked with Doctor Ziegler in Venezuela, right?”
“Right,” said Baptiste, a little hesitantly.
“Do you have anything on you that might... verify that work together?”
“I’ve tried to leave as little a trail as possible, you understand,” said Baptiste, “Doctor Ziegler was pretty intense and secretive as well at the time, so we weren’t exactly best friends.”
“Hm...” Genji looked thoughtful.
“She was... pretty set on having no one recognize her from her posters,” Baptiste let out a hapless chuckle, “And she couldn’t stand being called ‘Mercy.’”
Genji seemed to perk up at this.
“We did take a photo or two together, but... those are back at my clinic...” said Baptiste trailing off, “I’m sorry. I don’t know what to tell you. We were both very focused on helping our patients at the time.”
“You said she leaves an impression,” said Genji.
“She does!” said Baptiste, “Smart, tough, focused---But I’m pretty sure what I saw of her is what anyone would see of her.” He paused, “I will say, she brews the absolute worst pot of coffee I have ever tasted.”
Genji’s visor brightened. “What did you say?”
“Well I wouldn’t expect her to be a barista or culinary genius--” Baptiste went on.
“But did you say it was the worst?” said Genji, the lights on his shoulders practically blazing with excitement.
“Oh, by far, the worst,” said Baptiste, hardly paying attention, “It was honestly impressive how bad this coffee was--like I’m pretty sure we were only a mile north of a coffee farm. You could not have gotten more premium, locally sourced beans, and it still tasted like she filtered the grounds through the devil’s asshole.”
“They did work together...” Genji said, a breathless awe in his voice.
The door slid open and Genji, Hanzo, and McCree, all turned around to see Satya standing in the doorway.
“Satya!” McCree’s face lit up, “I can’t tell you how much it means that you’re--”
Satya stepped aside with her usual curt grace and Jack marched into the doorway. “Care telling me what you wanted a teleporter for?”
“You narc’d?” said McCree, looking at Satya. She gave him a sharp sidelong glance through her visor. His shoulders slumped. “Of course you narc’d. You’re dating the only narc bigger than you on this watchpoint.”
“Of course. You must admit that your whole situation was highly dubious,” said Satya.
Both Genji and Hanzo gave a distressed look to McCree and McCree’s stomach lurched at the thought of having to play the advocate for someone Hanzo seemed a bit too excited to bring to the Watchpoint, but he remembered Mercy still in Talon’s clutches and straightened his shoulders. They needed Baptiste. As much as McCree hated to admit it, they needed whatever help they could get.
“Well look, Jack,” McCree started, “You’re not strike commander anymore, and we handled ourselves fine for a few months without--”
McCree’s shoulders slumped at the sound of Winston clearing his throat. Winston leaned into the doorway behind Jack and Satya with an awkward-but-endearing wave.
“Hanzo,” Winston tented his thick fingers, “I do appreciate you being proactive in recruiting other members but--”
Jack pointed a finger at the screen, “Can he hear us?”
“Yes he can,” said Baptiste, flatly.
Winston cleared his throat again and Jack lowered his finger.
“As I was saying, Hanzo, I appreciate bringing in extra help, but you’ve only recently gone off probation. If anyone’s going to be doing any vetting around here, it’s going to be--”
“Satya?” Baptiste spoke up.
Symmetra suddenly perked up, “Lieutenant Augustin?”
“Oh come on, you know her, too?” said McCree.
“Only briefly--You got away from Vishkar?” Baptiste’s eyes were wide from amazement.
Satya cleared her throat, “Well--um--yes,” she said, curling the fingers of her prosthetic hand tentatively.
Baptiste huffed with some relief. “I can’t tell you how relieved I am to hear that. And you’re fighting alongside Overwatch?”
“Well.. they saved my life, and I should hate to see other people manipulated and taken advantage of like I was. So... here I am,” said Satya.
“Can we maybe not spill entire agent dossiers to unverified free agents?” Jack muttered.
“No-no, let them talk,” said Winton.
“Winston--” Jack’s teeth were gritted as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
“This life suits you, Satya. I like the new look,” said Baptiste.
“Oh--it’s not a new look, the hair-is--is--it’s just down,” said Satya, fidgeting with her hair a bit, “You look well, also. The beard suits you.”
Baptiste chuckled.
McCree was slack-jawed. ‘What the hell is happening’ was lined out in every crease and whisker on his face. Baptiste knew Satya. Satya, who may as well have grown up in a hyperbaric sensory deprivation chamber for all Vishkar did to cut her off from the world. And, even more baffling, Satya seemed to like him. Satya, who didn’t like anybody. Except Pharah. And Ana. And Hanzo. And Zenyatta.  And Genji. And Mei. And Mercy. Okay, all things considered McCree probably just took it personally that Satya didn’t seem terribly keen on him.
“So you do know him?” said Winston.
“It... it was back when I was in Vishkar,” said Satya, turning to Winston, “So I am not sure how... legitimate my attestation may be, but I can assure you that he’s an excellent medic.”
“And with Ana and Lúcio deployed we are short on Medics...” said Winston, thoughtfully.
“I have biotic fields,” said Jack, stiffly.
Both Winston and Symmetra gave Jack an almost pitying sidelong glance, and Jack just huffed and folded his arms.
“Respectfully speaking, from what these three have told me, I don’t believe Doctor Ziegler has a lot of time for deliberation on our end,” said Baptiste, “If it helps, I can take the pulse rounds out of my biotic launcher. No offense, all medicine.”
“Biotic launcher?” said Genji.
“Modified from a standard Caribbean Coalition pulse rifle,” said Baptiste, hauling up a somewhat clunky-looking gun.
“Sure, let’s just let the guy who seems to magically know Hanzo and Satya and the Doc splash us with god-knows-what,” said McCree, rolling his eyes.
“I know what,” said Hanzo, giving a sharp look to McCree, “He’s saved many lives with that launcher. He’s saved mine with it, too.”
“...Ah,” said McCree.
“So both of you are willing to vouch for him?” said Winston, looking between Hanzo and Symmetra.
“I understand my standing in this organization isn’t as established as others--” said Symmetra.
“And mine far less so,” said Hanzo, “But yes.”
“Yes, we can trust him,” said Symmetra.
“And he did know Angela. I’m sure of it,” said Genji.
“Winston, if you’re sure about this...” said Jack.
“I’m not,” said Winston, “But losing Doctor Ziegler would not only devastate this organization, but biotic research all over the world. It’s a risk we have to take. Athena--you have a lock on his coordinates?”
“Yes,” chimed Athena.
“Satya?” said Winston.
Satya stepped forward and made a sweeping gesture with her prosthetic, “Now, this may be jarring if you’ve never teleported before.”
“I can handle it,” said Baptiste, smiling, “And... thank you. I’ll do my best to earn your trust.”
“Winston--” Genji put a hand on Winston’s shoulder, “Thank you.”
“You can thank him when we get the Doc back,” said McCree.
“Let’s just hope Lynx Seventeen has those schematics ready,” said Winston.
----
“As I suspected... no avascular necrosis...” said Mercy, pushing past several x-rays on a computer screen in her swivel chair before swiveling to face the microscope. It annoyed Moira to see Mercy working as if she wasn’t completely at Talon’s, for lack of a better word, mercy, but then again, lab work could be a comfort in and of itself. The one thing she could have control over. “He remained stable when you were taking the bone marrow sample?” said Mercy, looking through the microscope.
“He did,” said Moira, “What were your observations on the samples I gave you?”
“His white blood cell count is unnervingly low, and there doesn’t seem to be any particular spike in toxins in his urine,” said Mercy, “But from what other data you gave me, in theory the nanites should be picking up the slack with his immune system.”
“’In theory,’” said Moira, folding her arms, “His lack of any significant bacterial infections is proof enough that they are picking up the slack.”
“They’re also destroying his body. I’m going to need a clearer timetable on how fast his deterioration is going if I’m going to help him,” said Mercy.
“If I knew, I would tell you,” said Moira, pushing her red hair back, “That’s the thing about nanites--they’re meant to keep the body going even in the event of catastrophic organ failure. In theory his heart could stop and he could keep... keep...” she closed her eyes, “The nervous system and skeletal systems are probably the final threshold.” She remembered Reaper’s finger falling off and her stomach lurched, “There’s already structural failure in his extremities, but no loss of coordination yet.”
“This is what happens when you push the human body far past what it’s supposed to do...” Mercy said mostly to herself in a sigh.
Something stung in the pit of Moira’s stomach at those words. She could have just shrugged it off and called Mercy a coward with regards to science as she always did. The human body was a mess, after all--the spine and knees structural nightmares, the brain a complete mess of chemicals whose imbalances were nigh impossible to decipher save through the crapshoot of behavioral observation, and of course there was the whole matter of cells that sometimes simply forgot how to properly propagate and then ended up killing the whole damn body. The human body could be improved. The human body had to be improved. But, and in later reflections she would suppose this was probably her own distress over Gabriel wanting Mercy to feel that same guilt and fury, instead of saying any of this, she said, “Of course you feel that way, if you had your way, Genji would probably still be in crutches now.”
Mercy bristled and swiveled around in her chair. “Excuse me?”
“It was easier to ignore his true nature when he was rolling around in a wheelchair or looking up at you from those infirmary beds,” said Moira, perfectly calm.
“The cybernetics Blackwatch gave him were abhorrent,” Mercy seethed, “The damage to his mental health was--”
“What he needed. No one liked looking at what Blackwatch was doing. Not Jack, and not you. But he needed it. You have no idea how dearly he needed it. What was done to him put a hunger in him no coddling therapy could sate.  You didn’t see what I saw in the Venice incident,” a chuckle rippled out of her, “And then of course Overwatch puts him in shining armor as soon as they put him on Oxton’s ever-so-marketable strike team. I suppose I can’t blame him for eventually believing he was what they told him he was.”
Mercy stood up so fast she knocked the chair back and it thudded against the table. “You have the gall to assume you know his true nature from seeing him at his lowest point?” Moira only needed to raise her withered hand, the node of her biotic rig glowing faintly purple, and Mercy drew back slightly.
“Is that not our true nature?” said Moira, she flicked her hand slightly, and Mercy flinched a little, knowing what would happen with contact, “Do what we must to survive? Do what we can to avoid pain?” She looked back at the screens displaying Reaper’s cells in their endless battle and dance. “The Americans launch the Soldier Enhancement Program so that we might survive the Omnics. I inject Gabriel with nanites so he might survive the SEP serum. You help us stabilize him in the hopes of your own survival. That’s all we ever do. That’s all we ever are,” she looked back at the nanites on the screen, “Right down to our most basic parts.”
“The world is a lot less lonely when you assume everyone is as monstrous as you, isn’t it?” the words slipped out of Mercy.
Moira didn’t want to think of what she did next as impulsive or a reaction of anger. Instinctive, maybe, a fulfillment of her word. As her hand clamped down on Mercy’s shoulder and Mercy screamed with the biotic rig sucking the energy out of her, Moira reminded herself that she had told Mercy at the start of all this that failure to comply would result in pain. But it’s not as if she’s not complying, is she? Moira’s own inner critic spoke up, You brought her here to help Gabriel. You were the one who brought up Genji--It’s almost funny how fast just bringing him up upsets her. It would be funny if it weren’t so sad. Moira didn’t release until Mercy’s knees buckled. She was gripping the edge of the desk, gasping for breath.
“The world is as monstrous as me,” said Moira, “Get that through your head and maybe you might live a little longer.”

Oof, you would not believe how many drafts of this I have because I spent the better part of a week trying to get it right. It’s a Gaius x Mc fic, just barely, but mostly it was to characterize my mc because this is the first time I’ve written her, and I feel like how she could handle Gaius is kind of a big defining moment.
Mc: Rossi Mayhew, bloodkeeper and dumbass extraordinaire
Her lips ghost across his cheek almost of their own volition. Rossi had always been impulsive—fearless to a fault. In a way, this is just another adrenaline rush. One more thing she’d done just to prove she could. Her whole life she’d always been tempted by the specific allure of things she probably shouldn’t be doing.
Like slapping sleazy vampires across the face and threatening centuries-old mobsters with severe bodily harm. Like stabbing the maker of every vampire she’d ever met through the hand when he’d dared to touch her without permission.
Like kissing Gaius Augustine, that very same man, all these months later as if nothing had happened between them at all.
Even now she feels the familiar rush of pride at his shocked face. The way his eyes widen and flutter in a surprised blink and his jaw slackens just the slightest bit. The way he turns to stare at her like she’s grown a second head. Knowing that someone was trying to read her—and that they couldn’t—had always been a special kind of high. No drugs, no booze could ever come close to that feeling.
Her eyes sparkle with mirth and she wonders to herself how she could ever have been so afraid. All that power and ambition and all those years he’d lived...yet how easy it is to utterly confound him. After all that...
He is still just a man.
“Why...?” He speaks slowly as if his brain is still catching up to his mouth. The genuine confusion in his tone sends a spark of excitement up her spine that she can’t quite explain.
So this is how it feels to be the one holding all the cards, she realizes and smiles slowly.
She savors it the way he must have, that night she’d sat with him at that table.
“Why not?” She replies simply as if it answers everything. She doesn’t laugh when she says it, but there’s a rhythmic little rumble to the way she speaks that is teetering on the edge of one. The excitement is still buzzing through her; all at once she feels as though she is back on those rooftops with Lily and Adrian, racing through the city.
“I can think of a thousand reasons.” He says, brows knitting together. “Or have you forgotten? How I killed you and terrorized your friends?”
She widens her eyes theatrically. “Gosh, was that you?!” This time she does laugh, and it’s lighter than she feels. “I thought you looked familiar.” Her shoulder bumps his jovially as she giggles and he watches her with an intensity that sends her stomach fluttering strangely. She pretends not to notice him, gazing instead out at the sky reflected in the water.
She’s quiet for a long moment. Her mind wanders among all the possibilities. All the things that could happen from this point on. Suddenly she wants nothing more than for time to stop. To be trapped in a world where it is just her and him and these stars—and everything is still alright for a moment.
“We’ve got bigger things to worry about than old grudges.” She can still hear Demetrius’ words in the back of her mind. Cherish the time you have left, he’d told her—and it left a bitterness in the back of her mouth even now. “I’m not spending what time I have left angry. Not even at you.”
She doesn’t outright scoot closer, but she lets her leg press against his. The contact is a warm contrast to the cool air. He doesn’t pull away.
“And you shouldn’t spend it looking so sad.”
A hand raises to stab through his dark hair as a breathy, humorless laugh escapes him. “After everything...you’re still trying to comfort someone like me.” His searching eyes find hers and hold them. She finds herself unable to look away. “You’re a strange one. Stranger than anyone gives you credit for.”
Again with that little swell of pride.
When had she started trying to set herself apart? Anything to get people to notice her—to win the attention she felt deprived of when she was young. Who’s approval was she searching for?
He’d hated her so much, once upon a time. Why does it fill her with warmth to see him looking at her with such wonder?
“Someone like you...” She murmurs, lips twitching up almost imperceptibly. “I don’t know who that is any more than you do, you know? She locked you in a box—one little part of your entire personality—and now the box is open. You said you don’t know which man you are, but that’s the trick. Right now, you aren’t either of them...”
He chuckles, and somehow it’s the saddest, emptiest sound she’s ever heard. “I was afraid of that. It would be easier...”
“Yeah, probably.” She agrees with a gentle grin, “But you’re forgetting something.”
He quirks a brow at her, and she giggles and bumps his shoulder with her own again, as if urging him silently to see the bright side of all of this.
She feels herself tipping back just slightly and it takes her a moment to realize that he had bumped her in return, if almost unnoticeably. Her grin widens and her eyes sparkle in disbelief when she notices the barely-there smile on his lips; who would ever have guessed that the evil, monstrous Gaius Augustine would be sitting here goofing off with her? Who would ever have guessed that he had the capacity for it?
She hums a pleased laugh and this time she doesn’t bump him, just leans against his arm gently. There’s something in the absurdity of it all that entertains her enough to pull her mind away from darker subjects.
“You get to choose.” She whispers, smiling out at the sea. “All this time you’ve been trapped in this pit of negativity and hatred and she’s been dragging you down, further and further. But now? Now no one can tell you who to be except for you.”
He’s watching her, she can feel it. The weight of his gaze is a heavy one, but not quite unpleasant. She’s suddenly very aware that anything any of their little group say or do in the next few days could tip the scales one way or another. It is his choice to make, in the end—but a little kindness now may lead him down a brighter path later.
“You can choose to be cruel or kind. To live for yourself or others. But no matter what you do, now, you don’t ever have to worry about being that man again.”
“And why is that?” He asks suddenly, probingly, brows furrowing. She turns to look at him and there’s anger in his eyes, but also desperation. He’s lost now—so lost and confused and looking for any sign of what to do next. She feels bad that she can’t tell him.
“What makes you so sure? You’re sitting here with the man who caused you so much pain and did the same to countless others. How could you have so much faith in someone you’ve seen only the worst of? How do you know the worst isn’t all that’s left?”
“Because you care enough to be asking me that! Because even before I knew you I was seeing little clips of your life and the lives of those around you. I’ve seen you fight for the lives of other vampires against unbeatable odds, I’ve seen the love you had for Kamilah and Adrian and Marcel and our kind. Rheya robbed you of your compassion for humans—she made you hate them. You’ve done terrible things because of that hate, but I know you’re more than that because I’ve seen it.” She stares deep into his eyes, speaking evenly and never once faltering.
“Compassion is what tempers cruelty. Without it, you don’t have to face the consequences of the things you do, because you don’t care. It’s like laying your hand on a hot stove when you can’t feel pain—you’ll never know you’re burning yourself. But now, no matter what you do, you won’t ever be able to escape that. You can never go back to being that man, Gaius, because I see in your eyes the guilt you feel—the uncertainty. Those aren’t the eyes of the man who killed me.”
He swallows hard, and again his eyes gleam with tears. He is the one who has to look away.
Her tone softens when she speaks again. “I’m the Bloodkeeper, Gaius Augustine, and you can’t hide from me.”
In the stillness of the early morning, her hand finds his. She links their fingers together and squeezes. After a moment, he squeezes back.

Relationships: Davenzi (David x Matteo)
Summary: The German boy squad comes over to play Mario Kart, David gets very competitive and Jonas notices Matteo doesn't do much PDA
Support this work on ao3
David and Matteo loved each other. That was for sure. David and Matteo were also two horny teenage boys alone for once in an apartment shared by 4 young adults, and sometimes their romantic interests. An apartment that had a couch that Matteo thought looked perfect for some strenuous activities with David.
The trouble with that though, was sometimes when one is having a little too much fun doing said strenuous activities, one forgets that they had invited their friends over to play Mario Kart. And sometimes when one is too caught up in their boyfriend’s blown out pupils and ragged breaths, one doesn’t hear their friends knocking on the door.
That is how Jonas Augustin ended up walking in on David and Matteo, half naked and very busy on their couch.
“Dude!” yelled Jonas, covering his eyes. Matteo bolted away from David instantly and they were both searching for their t-shirts frantically. They were fully clothed and sitting a meter apart before Abdi and Carlos even made their way through the door.
The only hint that anything had gone on was Matteo’s heavy breathing and the trail of bruises leading from his jawline to under his t-shirt, as well as Matteo’s burning cheeks.
Jonas thought he looked strangely ashamed, nothing like he had the time he walked in on Jonas and Hanna. Matteo wasn’t the kind of person to get embarrassed, but at that moment he looked like he wanted the earth to swallow him whole.
Jonas didn't have time to dwell on the thought before Abdi and Carlos were barging into the sitting room wittering on and asking Matteo why he was so out of breath. If Jonas thought Matteo looked embarrassed before, it was nothing compared to how he looked now.
“Just, um, running.” Matteo seemed to realise how stupid he sounded before the words had even left his mouth. David realised this too and looked over at Jonas. They were both trying to contain their laughter at watching Matteo blunder his way through an excuse.
David gave Jonas a look. The kind of look that said do you see what an idiot my boyfriend is? God, I love him.
“Matteo? Running? Running?” laughed Abdi. “I guess David really is a good influence.”
David grinned up at Abdi. He seemed to have recovered much faster than Matteo, who was still trying to cover his lap and stop staring at David’s lips. Gross.
“Matteo you haven’t run a day in your life.”  Matteo stared directly at Carlos and raised his eyebrows.
“I’m sorry Carlos, did you come here only to judge my exercise habits or did you want to get your ass beaten in Mario Kart?” And just like that, the cocky Matteo Jonas knew and loved was back. Well, maybe cocky wasn’t the right choice of words, given the circumstance.
Sometimes Jonas hated his thoughts.
“And I guess you got all those bruises on your next from running? Right, Matteo?” grinned Abdi. Matteo just blushed and muttered while he tried to find the controllers.
Soon enough they were halfway through a Mario Kart mini-tournament. It quickly became obvious that Matteo was bluffing through his teeth. Where Matteo had lost every single race, David had won them all. The kind, mysterious ray of sunshine that was David, who had said he was ‘a little rusty’, had run laps around all of them.
He had been sceptical at the start, when he thought they were letting him win, but once he realised they were doing their best he lit up. Matteo didn’t look surprised at how competitive David was. He looked proud even.
Every time David destroyed them all he’d call “That’s my boy!”
He didn’t say ‘that’s my boyfriend’ though. Just another thing Jonas noticed he was holding back on.
The more they played, the cockier David got. And the taunts, oh god the taunts.
“Come on Jonas, I thought Matteo said you knew how to play Mario Kart?” with a raised eyebrow and a cheeky grin.
“Oh Abdi, you should’ve told me if you’d lost control of both your hands. Oh? Oh, you haven’t? You’re just that bad?” That one had resulted in him being chased around the apartment by a playfully enraged Abdi. He had outrun Abdi, which led to him asking if Abdi’s feet were out of order as well.
“Carlos? You know, I’m pretty sure you’re meant to be racing, not inspecting Mario Kart flowers to see if they’re nice enough to pick for Kiki.”
David was an unexpected savage when he was competing.
It was a mystery, how he was so good. He claimed it was natural talent but no man on earth could just naturally be that good. It was shocking. The boys were in awe. And Matteo, the bastard, was sitting there with a smug look on his face as though he hadn’t driven directly off a bridge six times in the last round.
Eventually, it just got too much.
“Okay,” Jonas started to announce. “This obviously isn’t working.” Before he could suggest any ideas, Matteo was swooning over his boyfriend,
“My boy is just too talented!” He was staring dreamily at David again. Man, he was whipped. He looked at David like he put the stars in the sky.
“Babe, I had to show you how to reverse.” He sounded annoyed but David was smiling softly. He looked at Matteo the same way. Jonas thought his relationship with Hanna had been good in its prime but this, this was a whole new level. His Matteo and this David kid were made for each other. David lit Matteo up and Matteo did the same for him.
“It's literally just pushing backwards,” muttered Abdi, confused at how Matteo had possibly not understood. Jonas had a suspicion he faked not knowing how just to get David to touch his hands, but with Matteo you never knew. He really could just be that clueless.
The guy was smart in school and in lots of other ways but, wow. He really lacked a lot of common sense. But it was endearing, especially to David
“Okay Luigi, we get it, you’re boyfriend is a god on earth and you have maybe six brain cells. We already knew that.” Matteo smiled up at him stupidly. He knew it was 100% true.
Everyone agreed that David was too good at Mario Kart for them to keep playing the way they were. Eventually, they decided to wait until Hans got home and play teams. Matteo’s absolutely atrocious Mario Kart capabilities cancelled out David’s god given talent to make them a fair team.
While they waited for Hans to come home they decided to do one on one matches to see if anyone could dethrone David.
They all went, one by one, and they were all defeated.
Matteo went first, to get it out of the way. He forgot how the controls worked halfway through the first lap. He never stood a chance.
Jonas went next. He came close, but the win just escaped his grip. Or at least that’s what he said. In reality, David had stopped to let him catch up more than once, just to challenge himself.
Abdi went in passionate and came out a broken man. They had all believed he could win until David lapped him in the second last lap. It really damaged team morale.
Carlos was last, and he was terrified. Jonas had convinced Matteo that someone other than David had to win at least one race. Matteo promised him he would do what he could.
As the cars took off, Carlos stayed level with David. Matteo got up from the floor where the losers were sitting and plopped down next to David.
“You’re doing great baby,” he muttered while he put his hand on David’s knee. On the screen, David’s kart faltered and drifted wrong, banging him into a rock. David didn’t take much time to recover but Carlos had shortened the distance between them.
Matteo started running his hand up and down David’s leg. Jonas and Abdi were still sat on the floor, delighted with what was happening. David’s kart ran directly into a banana peel.
“Matteo, I swear to God, whatever you’re doing, stop it,” David muttered through his gritted teeth. Carlos was catching up quickly.
“What? I’m just appreciating my boyfriend,” whispered Matteo, moving his mouth closer to David’s ear. Jonas and Abdi were losing their minds on the floor and Carlos looked like he could cry with the pressure.
Jonas knew it was over for David when Matteo put his lips on David’s neck. David absolutely melted and his kart flew straight off the cliff. His face was turned to Matteo within seconds. Soon Matteo’s lips had found a nicer place than David’s neck: David’s lips.
“Ew! Get a room!” whooped Abdi as Carlos’ kart passed into first place. That brought Matteo back to earth quickly and in a flash he was on the floor again, leaving David confused and in second place on the couch.
It was odd, Jonas thought. Matteo seemed embarrassed to kiss David in front of them.
Carlos and David drew once Matteo left and took his distractions with him. Matteo was quieter for a few minutes. Jonas worried about him.
He found himself doing more of that, worrying, once Matteo came out. He didn’t know how he had missed something so big, and Matteo being miserable for long. He was a bad friend. He’d make up for it though, even if it meant worrying about Matteo for years to come.
Matteo came back to himself soon though. He was laughing and joking when David got up to use the bathroom. The second David shut the door behind him Jonas started talking.
“Dude, what the fuck?” Not the most subtle start, he’d admit, but it got everyone’s attention.
“Huh? What did I do now?” Somehow, Matteo didn’t understand what Jonas was trying to say from just those four words.
“It’s not what you did man, it’s what you didn’t do. Are you a monk now? Why do you keep leaving David all hot and heavy,” Jonas tried to show what he was saying by raising his eyebrows but Matteo looked at him like he was insane.
“Yeah, what do you think will happen? We’re not going to beat you up for touching your boyfriend Matteo. You’re allowed kiss him.” Carlos was as wise as ever and caught on to what Jonas was saying. “You’re allowed kiss your boyfriend. It looks like you’re scared.”
Matteo just looked down. He knew in the back of his mind they’d notice eventually.
“I know guys. Sometimes I’m fine, but then I remember you’re all here and, I just, and it’s fucking stupid but, I just don’t want you to think I’m gross or anything.” He said it quietly, but he still said it. And it made Jonas’s heart squeeze in his chest.
“Shut up dude. You are gross, but that’s because you’ll eat food from the floor after it’s been there three months, not because you like guys.”
“Fuck off,” smiled Matteo. “God, I know I’m such a dumbass but like it’s hard sometimes.” That hurt Jonas’s entire body.
“I hear you, bro,” mumbled Abdi. Everyone stopped. Had they heard Abdi right? Was he saying what they thought he was? It couldn’t be, but that’s what Jonas had thought about Matteo.
“Abdi, are you gay?” Jonas thought he might have fallen into a parallel dimension.
“What? No! Oh my god, no! I was just trying to be supportive guys! I’m not” Abdi looked horrified.
David ran back in and hopped the couch, just another example of him being ten times more athletic than all the other boys.
“What’s Abdi not?” David settled down on the couch next to Matteo.
“Gay,” grinned Matteo
“Oh damn, there go our plans for this evening.” Matteo smiled at the boy he loved while everyone laughed and leaned in to kiss him on the cheek, which got lots of cheers from the boys on the floor.
Hans was home quickly after that.
Up until this point it had been mostly fun and games between friends, but when Hans came in he stepped up the game. The teams were formed: Abdi and Carlos, Jonas and Hans and Matteo and David. After Matteo had lost the first round for him and David, things got serious.
Matteo watched as David went from a ray of sunshine to a professional Mario Kart player. It wasn’t a game anymore, it was a competition and he had finally found a match in Hans. Matteo’s friends hadn’t seen this side of David before but Matteo had, and Matteo loved it.
He sat back and waited for it to happen, and it did. David turned around to stare at him with his competitive fire back in his eyes.
“Matteo, we’re winning this shit.”
From there no one else stood a chance. David leapt onto the couch behind Matteo and stayed perched there, telling him what to do all through the next four races.
Somehow, even with Matteo getting stuck at a wall for half a minute and accidentally hitting David with his one blue shell, they were tied for first place as the last lap was coming to a close. Jonas was shocked that David could carry Matteo through the entire game. It was remarkable. He had hardly been trying before.
Both Hans and David were across the finish line. The jury was split on who had crossed it first. Carlos and Abdi had given up. They were both a lap and  a half behind so they’d put down the controllers to focus on who would win
Matteo was starting to think they lost it, and everyone screaming wasn’t helping, so he panicked. Jonas saw him starting to mash all the buttons he could get his fingers on. And, somehow, fucking somehow, he threw out a banana that Jonas couldn’t have anticipated because no one knew Matteo had it, not even Matteo himself.
“Bullshit!” Jonas yelled as Matteo crawled across the finish line, he had forgotten how to even accelerate. But Jonas couldn’t move. The banana had him.
David and Matteo had one. Matteo, who didn’t even know how to turn at first, had beat Jonas and Hans’s dream team.
“Yes babe!” cheered David. He grabbed Matteo’s grinning face with both hands and fired his lips onto Matteo’s.
And god were they kissing. All the boys could do was stare, mouths gaping. Jonas hoped someone would say something before it escalated farther but he was speechless. Matteo had gone from someone who would barely peck his boyfriend’s cheek to a full-on exhibitionist in under an hour. Carlos came to his senses first.
“Ew!” he teased, laughing. Matteo gently pushed David off him laughing as well. David was still basking in the glow of their unlikely win.
“I did not need to see that.” Abdi laughed fondly.
“Wow, can’t believe my friends are homophobic. #PrayForMe.” Matteo hooked his arm around David’s waist. Jonas had missed seeing him like this. He had almost forgotten this side of Matteo.
“Oh fuck off,” chuckled Abdi.
“If you think that was bad, you should see him in the bedroom,” smirked David. The reaction was instant. Everyone was shoving at Matteo or shrieking. Matteo himself was grinning good-naturedly up at David with his heart eyes in.
“You weren’t complaining last night babe,” Matteo beamed.
After everything calmed down and they were putting food out on the table Jonas asked David to come smoke with him on the balcony.
David walked out happily with him but refused the joint.
“I don’t really smoke,” he smiled. Jonas just nodded back at him. Smarter than the rest of them, and he valued his lungs more.
“You make him really happy, man,” he said, blowing out the smoke and looking off into the distance and counting the city lights. Just like he and Matteo had when they were kids.
“He makes me happier,” smiled David earnestly. He was looking out at the lights too, rubbing his hands together to keep warm. The fingerless gloves looked cool, but they weren’t the most practical. Jonas wanted to say more.
He wanted to thank David. Thank him for making Matteo smile again, for reminding how to make jokes and give his opinions as if he thought they were important. For showing him that he matters and that people care about him. He wanted to thank him, for bringing back the light in Matteo, but he didn’t know how.
They heard Hans calling them inside for the food. Before David could go Jonas grabbed his arm.
“Thank you, man. For bringing him back.”
“I didn't bring him back. He brought himself back. I was just there to help, like you, like Abdi and Carlos and Hans. We all helped but Matteo did it himself.”
Jonas liked David. He was good for all of them.

Amy
The sunlight reflecting on her face made Amy wake up from her sleep. Drowsy, she realized she had fallen asleep at the Hamptons’ house doorstep. Still no signs of Kamilah, but Lysimachus replied her text.
After giving him the directions, her brother-in-law arrived some time later.
“Well, it seems like we’ll have to do it the wrong way,” he started picking the door lock. “If the house really belongs to Kamilah I’m sure she’ll eventually forgive me,” he shrugged.
"Whoa,” Amy opened her mouth in astonishment as she followed him inside. The modern-styled house was huge and incredibly beautiful. It had a large swimming pool and a spaceful backyard with direct access to the beach.
“Hey, she brought some clothes,” Lysimachus announced, emerging from one of the bedrooms. “This is definitely where she spent the last few days.”
At the kitchen, they found two empty glasses, suggesting Kamilah also had a visitor recently.
“We’ll never find out who it was,” Amy complained.
“Don’t be that pessimistic,” Lysimachus quickly grabbed his phone. “Most of these fancy houses have surveillance cameras.”
They sat on the couch and he hacked through the security system, searching for footage from the last couple of days.
“Found it. It was Kaira, a member of Kamilah’s Clan. I’ve met her once.”
“How long did she stay?”
“Quick visit, less than one hour. Only time enough for a drink. I’ll get her number and try to obtain some information.”
After many attempts, Kaira was unreachable. She had been declared missing, like three other members of Clan Sayeed.
“It has Gaius’ name written all over it,” Lysimachus angered, slamming his fist on the coffee table.
Amy felt a strange pain in her stomach. If Gaius had really gotten Kamilah, at this time she could be dead. Walking away from her brother-in-law, she went to one of the bedrooms, where she grabbed one of Kamilah’s shirts and held it tightly to her chest. It still had her fragrance on it.
“Please, be okay. I need you to be okay.”
Inside the drawer, she found a binder with plans for their wedding.
Not only Kamilah had bought that house for the party, but she also picked the most beautiful flowers for the decoration and a sophisticated buffet menu. The cake was Amy’s favorite flavor and she didn’t forget to include the chocolate fountain Amy begged for, even if she mocked it in the beginning.
“Amy, are you getting married or throwing a birthday party? Chocolate fountain?! Please.”
Amy gave a small smile, followed by a tear that streamed down across her cheek.
“Amy, let’s…” Lysimachus entered the room, noticing she was crying. “What is that?”
He took the wedding plans from her hands and read it.
“She planned us the most perfect wedding party and I threw everything away! Because of a psycho bitch that manipulated every inch of my stupid brain!”
Her brother-in-law involved her in a warm and assuring hug.
“We’ll find her alive and safe. You are having this party, are you listening? I promise you. I’m Kamilah’s best man after all.”
“Oh,” Amy let out a small laugh, “I thought there was a dispute between you and Adrian?”
“Yeah… she has two best men. And it’s their duty to assure she’ll make to this wedding.”
Amy smiled and hugged him back.
“Now let’s go. We need to find your runaway bride.”
———-
Kamilah
Taking a deep sigh, Kamilah looked to both sides before deciding to leave the car. Her mind still wasn’t working properly. Driving without a specific direction, she stopped at her penthouse’s edifice. Her clothes were covered in blood. Human blood. She couldn’t allow herself to be seen or caught. Using her vampire abilities, she streaked up using the emergency staircase, until she got home.
Throwing herself at the couch, she was unsure of what to do. It was only the beginning. That was only the first proof she had to give Gaius of her loyalty. There was more to come, she knew. Things she would no longer accept to be submitted to. And there was Amy… Amy was her biggest weakness at the moment. He surely knew that. It was a matter of time until she had the same fate as many of her past lovers.
“I need to end this,” she clenched her jaw.
After making sure Lysimachus wasn’t home, she used the extra key she had to explore his apartment. He had a secret weapon against Gaius. An old ritual he hadn’t told anyone about. She just needed to find it and perform it. All by herself. She wasn’t going to risk anybody else’s life.
Between short and shallow breaths, she opened every drawer, checked every shelf, before noticing the ancient book was lying open on his desk. Using her cell phone’s camera she took pictures of the pages she needed.
A click coming from the front door made her freeze in place. She needed to leave or hide immediately, but before she could even act, Priya was standing in front of her.
“Kamilah?!” Somehow she looked surprised. “What are you doing here? Jeez, you look terrible! Is that blood…”
“Priya!” She frowned, censoring the younger vampire with her furious glare. That sadistic imbecile had probably been sleeping with her brother again. “Where is Lysimachus?”
“He left a few hours ago. He went to meet…”
“Good,” Kamilah interrupted, giving her no more time to speak. Knowing her brother was alive was enough. She passed by the fashion designer and left the apartment, returning to her penthouse.
Under the shower, she frantically rubbed her arms and hands while tears kept streaming down her face. It didn’t matter how much she had already washed herself, it seemed like the blood of all those mortals was still impregnated in every layer of her skin. As well as the feeling of Gaius’ lips being pressed on hers.
She looked herself at the mirror and all she could see was a monster. His Queen again.
When she left the bedroom to get dressed, she heard a noise. The penthouses’ door opened. It could only be Gaius, she thought. He knew she hadn’t been hypnotized. Like he always managed to find out everything. Holding both of her daggers firmly, she walked in stealthy steps. When the figure passed through the door she was ready to strike.
“Amy?!” Her eyes went wide in shock. Her fiancée was the last person she expected to see in that moment.
———-
Lysimachus
It was around lunch time, but Lysimachus was sitting at a bar, staring at the bottom of an empty glass. The third he had so far. Alcohol never fails to dull the pain, Kamilah would always say.
Aside from his sister’s possible kidnap by Gaius Augustine, something else was puzzling his mind. Priya.
After hours of intense sexual intercourse he was exhausted, but not enough to make him fall asleep. Lying on his chest, he watched her. She looked almost… innocent. There was so much about her he didn’t know. He wondered what was her story. What could be hidden behind vicious and cold personality?
“I’m sorry, Hunter,” she murmured before falling asleep. “I mean it.”
Yet, when she woke up she was back to her usual self. While having breakfast, she was focused on an app, that she paid to be created for herself. ’Bleeder’ it was called. Using it, she browsed for mortals that were willing to satiate her blood thirsty, as if she was picking a date.
“Ha! That’s a match!” She celebrated, staring at the picture of a middle-aged man on her screen. “Gotta go.”
“What’s in your head?” A female voice coming from behind brought him back to reality.
“Hey you,” he turned around to see the young witch who helped him to obtain the daylight rings. “Thanks for meeting me.”
She ordered herself a meal. Chicken nuggets. He only observed, as she teased and mocked him, knowing it was a common distaste among vampires.
“So… you’re not having any of these,” she playfully took a bite.
“Not today, no.”
“You’re not in a good mood, I can see.”
“I had a difficult night. I couldn’t get any sleep.”
“Oh.”
He gulped, wondering what was giving it away. Were there any bruises on his neck that hadn’t healed yet?
“This is not what I meant,” he felt he was blushing a little. “I can’t stop worrying about Kamilah.”
“So… let’s change the subject, why did you want to see me?”
He grabbed copies of the pages from the ancient book. Though she had examined it before, she had been studying Wright’s books, to see if she could offer any help.
“This symbol,” he pointed. “I can’t find its meaning anywhere.”
“Hmmm,” she was pensive. “Neither did I but…” she ran a finger through the page. Lysimachus knew she was trying to obtain a vision, a connection with her witch ancestors.
“This symbol was created to protect something… a great source of power…” suddenly her eyes went wide in shock. “S-Sorry, I can’t say anything else.”
“Come on, you’re the only person that can help me to rescue my sister!”
“I-I… The ancient witch power is blocking me. I’m sorry.”
He sighed in frustration. After she left, he called Lily. Apparently she had news for him, about the remaining parts of the ritual. When he entered the car, a message appeared on his screen.
Hunter. Come home ASAP.
I can’t. I have important matters to take care of.
It’s a f****** EMERGENCY!
Rolling his eyes, he wondered what trouble Priya had caused this time. As he promised himself, it was the last time. Depending of the damage she caused, he’d kick her out of his apartment and take the case to The Council. She had no right to jeopardize the most important mission of their lives. The one that was supposed to decide their fate and the fate of humanity.
“Forget it,” he turned off his cellphone, “I’m meeting Lily first.”
However, when he returned home, Priya was impatiently waiting for him, with a surprised look and a grin on her face.
“Why did you took so long? I did something that will make you forgive me… I found Kamilah.”
———-
Amy
In a fancy restaurant, Amy studied Kamilah’s behavior. That wasn’t the Kamilah she was used to. She looked extremely anxious, uncomfortable and avoiding her gaze the entire time, as if she was trying to hide all her distress. When Amy entered the penthouse, the first she noticed was her fearful expression and the daggers, being held firmly in her hands.
After dodging all her questions with technical answers about the legal procedure that was being moved against her company and the solutions her lawyers were working on, Amy finally concluded that behavior had nothing to do with Ahmanet Financial. It was deeper than that.
“So… uhhh…” Amy tried to break the silence, “have you canceled our wedding party? I mean, if you want… we’re still in time.”
“We’d have to rush a lot of things,” Kamilah coldly replied, her eyes never leaving a glass of wine. “The dresses aren’t finished. I told you Priya should not be trusted.”
“That was my fault, she went to London to make the final adjustments but I missed the sessions. I was too focused on…” remembering Wright made her twitch in anger.
“I forgot to cancel. Actually, we can solve that tomorrow.”
“Now I’m back, there aren’t any reasons why we should cancel. Priya can make the final adjustments, after all she has been living with your brother.”
“She has been… what?!” After almost chocking with her wine, Kamilah shook her head in a mix of disappointment and shock.
Another silence settled between them. She didn’t answer what Amy wanted to hear.
“Are there, Kamilah?” She insisted. “Any reasons why we should cancel our wedding?”
“I-I…” she bit her lower lip. “You should return to London.”
“I’m not returning. The course is over and I’m no longer part of the… fair.”
“You didn’t tell me about it, what happened?”
“Don’t change the subject.”
When Amy noticed she was raising her voice, she concluded it was time to call it a night and go home. The first thing she did once they got home, was to confront Kamilah again.
“You’re hiding things from me again. It’s Gaius, isn’t it? He came after you!”
Kamilah looked down at the floor. Amy noticed she had stopped breathing.
A realization suddenly came. The things Kamilah told her about her past with him. The things he forced her to do. The manipulation, the punishments, the trauma.
“Oh my god! W-What did he do to you?” At this point, Amy was trying to not cry. “H-He didn’t…”
“Amy…” Kamilah finally shouted, firm and demanding. “If you have any love for your life, I suggest you to leave through this door right now and forget you’ve ever met me. My brother can debrief you, if you want.”
Amy stared at her in silence for a brief moment before involving her in the tightest of the hugs. She could sense Kamilah’s insecurity, her fear, her vulnerability and that, broke her heart more than anything. She couldn’t hold back her tears anymore.
“No,” she shook her head and wiped the tears from her cheeks, “I don’t fear Gaius. I’m not going anywhere or leaving you. We will fight together.”
———-
Lysimachus
"Don’t joke about it. Okay, Priya? Not about my sister!”
“Gosh, you won’t ever trust me, will you?!” She frowned. “She was right here, in your office! With a maniac look on her face and clothes covered in blood. Human blood. I sniffed it.”
“What?”
After leaving the restaurant, Lysimachus decided to ignore Priya’s supposed emergency and meet Lily at the Shadow Den. That was his priority. She had news for him about the ritual.
“This symbols,” she pointed, explaining, “are telling you need to trap him inside a magical seal.”
“Easy,” he sighed. “I’ve learned how to create a magical seal.”
“Then, you need another spell. To weaken him. I’m figuring out the ingredients we’ll need.”
“Good. And the two remaining items? Could you figure them out?”
“Not yet, but… we’re getting close.”
He didn’t believe Priya at first, but after going to the penthouse to check on Amy, he found her sitting on the couch. Paralyzed and frightened. Kamilah had indeed returned. She told him everything. The few details she was able to make Kamilah spill.
“So, he lured her into a trap and attempted to hypnotize her?”
“Yes, somehow she managed to break the spell, but Gaius doesn’t know it. He thinks she’s under his influence, after making her prove her loyalty.”
“What kind of proof?” He narrowed his eyes in pure rage, imagining what that son of a bitch could’ve possibly submitted his sister to.
“He uh… made her slaughter and feed from a group of mortals.”
While Kamilah was no longer very sympathetic of mortals, Lysimachus knew that at this time she should be feeling somehow guilty. After Amy, her views about the mortal world had softened a little.
“Where is she now, Amy?”
“Sleeping. I discreetly gave her some tranquilizers, she was in too much distress.”
Lysimachus went to the mastersuite where he stroke his sister smooth hair and kissed her forehead. He was relieved she was safe, and he’d do anything to protect her. Even if that meant he’d have to sacrifice his own life.
Later, he was sitting at his home office with a smirk on his face when Priya arrived.
“Where were you so late?”
“Worried much, Hunter?”
He rolled his eyes in response.
“I was at my house, with some members of my Clan.”
“Hmpft,” he took a sip of his drink. “I can image doing what.”
“Training,” she placed herself in front of him, facing him closely. “After all, I’m supposed to kick Gaius old ass, right?”
“Hmmm, growing responsibilities…” he mocked. “I like it.”
“What about you? What’s with that smirk?”
Lysimachus served her a glass of his whiskey.
“Know why we get along, Priya?”
“We’re both good in bed?”
“Other than that. We know how to play games.”
“What do you mean?”
He told her his latest plans. He was one step ahead of Gaius, like the old times. Lysimachus knew his location, but he wasn’t aware of that.
His next move was to forge a document, where Kamilah supposedly gave him entire control over her Clan. The word spread to the hypnotized members was that they were sent to different parts of the country, searching for Gaius. In truth, they were all safely hiding in a small town in Indiana. Gaius would have to find new manners to recruit servants.
“Smart move, Hunter,” she extended her arm, clicking her glass on his. “Cheers.”
“Cheers.”
———-
Kamilah
“Morning, sleepyhead,” waking up to Amy’s voice sounded almost unreal, considering how long she had been away.
“I missed waking up like this,” Kamilah forced a smile. Although she was glad to have her fiancée back, she knew her life was in danger.
Amy placed a tray of food in front of her, containing the black, strong coffee she liked, a small vase of flowers and the usual pancakes, with a smiley face with fangs.
“Don’t give me this look. You’re already starting to think about that stuff again.”
“That stuff is a threat to your life.”
“We’ll solve it. Lysimachus is already working on it.”
“Is he?” Kamilah took a sip of the coffee.
Amy informed her about some books and articles they retrieved from the University she was attending. Kamilah could tell she was omitting parts of the story, details she knew that could possibly cause her more stress.
Whenever she started spacing out again, remember she was under Gaius sight, Amy would find a way to distract her, whether was singing or complaining about how Kamilah’s hair looked perfect even when she had just woken up. She decided to embrace it. She didn’t know what the future held for them or how much time they’d have left, so every moment from now, was precious.
“So,” she teased, “you’re finally proving you can actually cook. Those pancakes were the best I’ve had in a while. In decades, perhaps.”
“See? I told you the day I almost set the penthouse on fire was an accident.”
Pushing the tray aside, Kamilah was suddenly on top of her, planting soft kisses on her neck, while her hands cherished the softness of Amy’s skin.
“Whoa,” the girl grinned, “you still need your real breakfast, right?”
“Actually,” Kamilah remembered the last time she fed, “thinking of this kind of breakfast makes me feel sick right now.”
“I’m sorry,” Amy noticed her expression changed, “I forgot…”
“But there’s something I really want right now.”
“What is it?”
“To show you a small surprise I bought you.”
She smiled, planning to finally take Amy to the house in the Hamptons.
