Was it peaceful when she walked into your family restaurant and recognized your for all the good things you’d done and none of the bad? Was it peaceful when she brought structure to your failing family business? Was it peaceful when she tried to run it while you ran off? Was it peaceful when she tried to elevate the offerings leading to a good review? Was it peaceful when she let you confide in her about your brother dying? Was it peaceful even after you turned into the asshole she didn’t want to work for she still came back and agreed to open a restaurant with you? Was it peaceful when you ditched her the first time, the second time, the third time, etc. and she still stayed? Was it peaceful when you worked together on your menu instead of trauma dumping a menu with your girl that’s a friend? Was it peaceful when thoughts of her calmed you down from a panic attack? Was it peaceful when she offered to make your pregnant sister a meal? Was it peaceful when she paid attention to every person in the restaurant and made sure they had what they needed to grow along side both of you? Was it peaceful when you promised her your full focus and attention? Was it peaceful when she brought you something warm to drink and tried to assure you that she was fine when you dropped the ball? Was it peaceful when she adjusted the margins to meet your needs?

Was it peaceful when you continued to push her out and away and she stayed and stayed and stayed? Will it be peaceful when she finally leaves???

I’m not saying Syd is a saint. I don’t want her to be. She has surely made mistakes of her own and has her own obstacles to overcome. But when it comes to who is his peace and who is perceived as peace it becomes clear who that truly is.

sorry to bother you i know you were saying in the tags that you don't care about shipping discourse in the bear fandom but i'm curious what you think of the ships anyways lmao

haha! no worries man, not a bother at all. there aren't really any hot takes to be found here, but im happy to share my lukewarm opinions

carmy/syd: love them. i want to see them continue to grow close, open up, and trust/rely on each other. if that means romance, that's cool! but i would be just as enthused about a platonic/familial relationship. what matters to me is that they love each other.

syd/marcus: love them. cute as hell. everybody should be a little in love with syd anyways. if it develops into syd realizing she has romantic feelings for marcus in return, that's cool! if syd doesn't have romantic feelings and the story becomes marcus learning how to get over his crush while keeping their working relationship in tact/remaining friends (and going on to become better friends than before)...also cool!

syd/richie: hate it! godspeed to those who ship it, it's just not my cup of tea

carmy/claire: this one is a little trickier as it depends on a) what the writers intended to be the takeaway from the relationship falling apart in the finale and b) if claire is going to be in s3. if the point was meant to be 'claire is perfect for carmy but his unresolved emotional trauma got in the way' i can see what the writers were going for, however, the actors just didn't have enough chemistry and the use of typical cinema shorthand for Romance™ made it all fall a little bit flat imho. if, on the other hand, the intended takeaway was the slightly less straightforward 'carmy's unresolved emotional trauma has left him unable to connect with/understand his own wants and desires, leading him to entre a relationship that looks great on paper but isn't right for him, and when it all falls apart he comes to the false conclusion that he simply is not build for romance, nor does he deserve it.' then, you know. great job guys! 10/10. with the show unfinished i simply have no way of knowing which it is
