Ninjago/ATLA AU bc there's not enough of those.
Lloyd is the avatar and the Fire Prince and this boi is going thru it. He begins Fire Bending Training very young so by 10 years old he's pretty good but has not mastered it. When he was 11 he accidentally waterbent while feeding the turtleducks with Wu. Wu of course was like 'well shit' and helped Lloyd understand what it meant and also kept it a secret bc Garmadon would either get his son to help him take over the world or if he couldn't he'd probably just imprison him (to make sure he's not reincarnated.) He does actually care for his son but he cares about power just a bit more. When Lloyd turned 14, he and Wu left to travel the world and find teachers for Lloyd so that he could defeat Garmadon. They left at night undetected and now are being hunted down by the Fire Nation. Wu for 'kidnapping' and Lloyd to be brought back to the palace.
Fire Lord Garmadon. After taking the throne he decided he wanted to take over the world and started the war. :|
Wu. This mans never helped out in the war because he didn't agree with it at all. He hung out in the palace doing whatever it is the fire lord's brother does and helping raise Lloyd. When Lloyd was like 2 he left on a 'spiritual journey' for about a year- he just kinda wandered around the world.
Firebender Jay but he only uses lightening bc he went a little backwards in his self taught learning adventures. He accidentally figured out he can control lightening before fire. Upon trying to firebend he either can't even produce a spark or he basically just combustion bends but really badly and it explodes in his face. He doesn't keep trying bc he doesn't really care. Lightening is cool af dude who needs fire. Grew up in the middle of nowhere in the Fire Nation at Ed and Edna's Swap Shop. (Basically a junk yard.) Ed and Edna are nonbenders. (lmao just imagine you own a swap shop and someone just leaves a whole ass baby and takes a lamp or something while ur sleeping) Wu and Lloyd met Jay not long after they left the palace. They were taking back roads and less populated areas to remain unfound when they stumbled upon the Swap Shop. They figured, 'hey we should get less nice things because rich people are very noticeable actually.' Jay who is 16 was like 'mom and dad can I please join these travelers who are actually the fire prince/avatar and his uncle (jay saw a wanted poster) because a- the avatar needs to learn to control lightning bc it would be useful, and b- I want to travel please please please' and thus Lloyd and Wu gained their first moron.
Non-bender Misako. She left to find the avatar when Lloyd was still a baby- not knowing the avatar is her fucking son - bc she wants to stop FL Garmadon and figured committing treason wouldn't be the way to go about it. She wanted to take Lloyd but Garmadon wouldn't let her.
Cole (17) is an earthbender. He wanders the earth kingdom climbing mountains and shit after running away from home. His dad is a performer in Ba Sing Se. After Lilly died, Lou just threw himself into it, ignoring everything else and forcing Cole into dance lessons more often. He didn't want Cole using his bending/fighting because he relates it to Lilly's death. (Instead of resting and receiving treatment for her illness she continued fighting in the army until she got too sick to continue.) Wu meets Lilly while he's off doing his soul searching. Later when he's trying to find teachers for Lloyd, he searches for her, and they come across Cole instead. Cole had been taught by badgermoles after he ran away, and also earned cash by occasionally joining fighting rings in random towns and is a skilled earthbender so he joins to teach Lloyd and beat tf out of the fire lord.
Firebender Kai (16) and Waterbender Nya (14). Kai is a blacksmith and they live in an Earth Kingdom colony. He figured out he's a firebender when he was 12. Nya still hasn't figured out she's a waterbender. They don't know their parents were benders bc they died when Kai and Nya were both pretty young. (FALSE they were arrested bc mixed relationships were illegal in the fire nation. Kai and Nya don't know this bc from their pov their parents just kinda didn't come home one day.) Maya went with the warriors as a healer when they left the Southern Water Tribe. She and one of the men had stayed behind in a nearby earth Kingdom town bc he was wounded badly. She met Ray while he was making blacksmith deliveries. Wu finds Kai and Nya in the village when he's looking to repair Lloyd's sword. He learns of Kai's hatred of the war, and Nya's desire to Do Something and they end up joining the crew. Lloyd and Kai train together since Kai hasn't really had any proper training, and Lloyd is still learning firebending.
Zane (18) is a waterbender from the Northern Water Tribe. His fighting style is like 97% ice, 3% water. Wu and the gang travel to the NWT to find a waterbending teacher. (On the way Nya gets pissed at some fire nation soldier and accidentally freezes him - learns she's a waterbender) When they arrive, Lloyd starts his training under the prev. Master of Ice (do we ever learn his name??) but he won't teach Nya - very Pakku of him - She gets pissed off and Zane is like 'Master why not teach her? She clearly possesses the ability and desire to learn? To which Ice is like fuk that shes a girl. Anyway Zane agrees to teach Nya since he's pretty much a bending master already and Lloyd is like well I'd rather learn from a guy who's not a prick, too. Ice gets mad that Zane is teaching Nya and Zane is like well if she can't learn in the NWT perhaps we should leave so that she isn't in the NWT and then she can learn. Thus Zane has joined the group.

As someone who did one long fic and promised to never do it again, here's my ofmd role reversal au with a moderate dose of oc's
So it all starts with their childhoods, as the literal reverse happens:
Ed doesn't kill his dad
And Stede accidentally paperweights Nigel
For Stede, he runs away obviously, and finds his way as a sailor with some captain
Works his way up to having his own ship and crew, with most of our beloved crewmates onboard
He gains a reputation as The Gentleman Pirate, his eccentric ways of piracy making him legend-like
He also has quite the body count, which no one really knows how he kills off his victims
(Just incredibly ridiculous coincidences so he kinda-but-not-really kills them)
Yes he loves the freedom, but he can't help but be reminded of what he left behind... of what he did...
Ed meanwhile, since he didn't kill his dad, instead convinces his mom to leave him while he's gone
But since society ain't kind to a poor single mom of color, they live like shit
Ed thus takes on as the breadwinner of the family, working harder than his mom has to
Mostly odds and ends until he gets a gig as a blacksmith apprentice, eventually opening a shop of his own. Finally, him and his mom are in a good place financially and stability wise
But it's all so fucking boring: he has all these clients needing swords and gun pieces for the navy and shit
- some bit of assholes really, like this one dude Chauncey -
while he wants more than anything to use them himself, and go on his own adventure
So using his saved up money, he buys a ship and tries to pass it off as a gift using a mini model of it
His mom however, doesn't like the ocean, and knows how sad his son is with their lives - we only have this one life, let's make the most of it
So he sets off in the middle of the night, leaving all his money he earned to her and tries to be a pirate... his mom's words ringing in his ears
Alright, we got our set-up, let's talk about our side characters:
On Stede's crew, we got Jim, Buttons, Swede, Roach, Lucius, Wee John... and Mary Read
(When a Sir Godfrey Thornrose attended a party, he ended up getting found out by Mary - but impressed by her idea to swindle the guests, he convinces her to join his crew as they depart a flaming ship full of rich people at each other's throats, after a game The Gentleman Pirate was fond of played)
Mary becomes First Mate, so she and Stede have a Izzy/Ed dynamic going on, but a little less toxic and sexually charged (it makes sense, trust me)
Ed's ship has Izzy, Oluwande, Frenchie, Gentle Pete, Calico Jack and Anne Bonny
(But he doesn't start with them as his crew - instead they're crewmates serving under a Captain Hornigold)
Since Stede becomes captain earlier on, Jim kills Spanish Jackie's husband earlier on, so Olu doesn't think to run away with them cause he's a loveable dumbass, only leaving when Jackie gets suspicious of him
Gentle Pete is always going on about serving on The Gentlebeard Pirate's ship, how he looks like a white ghost with fabric for skin
in my OC world (made a Anne and Mary post bout this), Anne and Mary dump Jack before he enters ofmd ep 8, so this takes place in an alternate world where Anne and Jack met and married but they never met Mary
And so... the plot!!
Ed and crew are under Hornigold, and Ed finds himself as First Mate, despite everyone thinking he's incompetent
He does however end up convincing them there's another way to piracy (probably cause of Black Pete's Gentleman Pirate stories) and so they plan to mutiny
They end up running into a navy ship, and the crew's pissed off at Hornigold disguising themselves and refusing to fight, so nows the best time
Ed only planned on going into the cabin and tying him up, but in some crazy level of shenanigans, Hornigold ends up choking on rope, so Ed technically "kills" him
Although Hornigold was an abusive bitch who reminded Ed of his dad so whatevs (totally whatevs haha no guilt at all!)
Izzy, surprised but impressed by how smart Ed can be in his lutacrisy, convinces him to tell the crew he meant to kill him
And so Ed becomes Captain of The Queen Anne, and takes on Blackbeard as his moniker from Hornigold
Totally not haunted by the illusion of Hornigold with rope around his neck hahahah
Ep 2 and 3 happens the same way but with Blackbeard and crew: ship aground, hostages (two navy soldiers and their captain, called Chauncey Badminton ok yes i was that blacksmith you bullied but now im blackbeard so who got the last laugh now), and meeting someone named Lucius, who despite his lack of - well anything that makes him look intimidating - ends up taking a hostage from them and intimidating Ed, Olu and Pete with the help of Wee John... and Jim
Olu and Jim are surprised to see each other again but Jim leaves with their crew, Olu still whipped after all these years
Up to ep 3 now, Mary comes along after Lucius' recalling of the events to scare Ed in Spanish Jackie's bar, but is amused by Ed telling her the captain can fuck off
Izzy however was not here in this moment, so Ed learns from him oh - that was the first mate of The Gentleman Pirate! Ok!!
Anne is just like "don't worry captain, I can seduce her" "No, Bonbon, there's no need to do that" "You sure?"
All leads up to the Spanish ship, almost about to be killed by the Spanish, when a certain former aristocrat swings in to save the day
Stede: Blackbeard, I presume?
Ed, bleeding out and almost hung: the angel heard of me?
Stede: hardly an angel, but thank you :)
And so the show continues as normal, with some changes according to whatever you want to see happen
Lucius being the relationship counselor
"~ Stab me ~"
The bathtub, which could really be either one of them
Speaking of which, would Stede have an equivalent to a red silk 👁
So yes, everything follows the same storylines in ep 4, 5, and 6
up until the end of ep 6 ...
But with some notable differences:
Anne: Well, if it needs to be done -
Ed: You don't need to seduce the First Mate
Anne: It's OK Cap, I can take it
Jack is also here, hi. He's a bit of an ass, so like our shows Izzy
Izzy meanwhile is not like, soooo bad, cause in this au he hasn't had the years under Blackbeard to see him as a great pirate so he's fully aware he's in the Muppet genre
He's still not happy about it
Olu and Jim have a little bit more of a slow burn (but like og show blackbonnet's slowburn)
Lucius, I'm sorry I really am, is a bitch in this au (probably cause of his status as Gentleman Pirate's Scribe) and so him and Pete don't get along
Initially ;)
Anne is off seducing Mary, which in this au, since Mary didn't have that positive influence in Anne to tell her she's beautiful despite her past, is very cold, so it takes a bit
But not that long, Anne's a very smooth talker
Stede and Ed meanwhile are interesting:
Stede has his years as a confident pirate on a sex positive ship - Ed has his history as a man with a sex drive
So Stede's pulling out all the gentleman techniques like Ed stabbing him with a sword, and Ed is over here freaking out like "this must be just how he is... but what if it isn't... but what if it is... but what if it"
Fucking cranking up the sexual tension to a hundred!!!!
Now HERE'S the rub
Cause of the changes in the timeline, characters react differently to situations
Which means Izzy never challenges Stede at the end of ep 6 - what, he's the fucking Gentleman Pirate, he's not gonna get himself killed cause of Bonnet corrupting his Captain's (which he totally doesn't have a crush it must be envy) brain
But after a fatal accident with a whip, Stede has enough and tells Jack to get off his ship. Now.
So if we rewind the story for a little bit, just to fill in the gaps:
There's this lady named Spanish Jackie who's pissed off at this Pubic hairbeard breaking her nose jar
And this navy captain who has survived his kidnapping, heard rumors the blacksmith is prancing around with the pirate he swore killed his brother
And THEN this schmuck who's drunk 25/8 stumbles in saying he knows where both of them are
So now let's take a break, and talk about Ed:
Ed, who while "defeating" the ghost of Hornigold, is still haunted by the choice he made to leave his mother. He's sure she's alright, but he promised to protect her, to be the man in the house he dad never was!
So now we got ep 7, Stede this time trying to impress Ed
Ed, confused, finally learns from Lucius "Oh my god this is happening", and so they have their little moment
It's literally "what makes Ed happy" but with Stede and two episodes earlier
But yay they kiss!!!
However, ep 8 happens exactly as it does
I hate Izzy, so I think he finds out about CJ and the plan and let's it happen
So Jack leaves and gets Ed to leave, who is guilty as fuck about leaving his mom
In this universe, Stede would not be mopey and staring at them through a telescope -
- so he leaves with all the crew and ship
Our Ep 10
It's the reverse:
Stede is in the blanket fort, sad and wrapped up in his little robe and writing sad songs
Ed leaves Jack to go back to Bristol and be with his mom
So it follows the same beats, which of course includes...
Izzy probably says some bullshit about Ed leaving, after what this ponce managed to do to the great Gentleman Pirate, who's somehow more soft than what the pirates made him out to be, with how he pines for his boyfrie -
Which is when fucking Chauncey comes in
Stede, pissed as fuck and no longer feeling safe as he let down his Gentleman Pirate facade only for his heart to get broken and being reminded of his place as a outcast among piracy, a plague, not a human...
"ok then, I'm the bad guy. Also you should never turn your back while holding a sword."
and paperweights Chauncey
Bye bye navy ship and crew, probably burnt alive!
Bye bye Lucius and Izzy's toe!
And bye bye happy couples, gotta separate you by marooning half of you!
So now Mary, Izzy, Frenchie and Jim are part of the new Revenge crew
With their new Gentleman Pirate captain, with an all-black ensemble, white gloves and a hat with white lace hanging around his head like a veil
Back on Ed's side of things:
His mom is actually doing really well! She took over the blacksmith business and even got herself a boyfriend Jason Mamoa
Though because Ed comes back in unannounced after thinking he was dead ("Eddie, you said you were leaving to be a pirate"), there's tension between them
Ed is all talk of the town as Blackbeard, but he's clearly not happy with being back in his old life, even if Jack's here to get his mind off things
But him and his mom talk, and she tells him she just wants what's best for her son, and seeing him finally find somewhere he belongs is all she ever wanted for him
"Hey mum... I think I found my fine thing"
And so mother and son plan to fake son's death together, only for Ed to find out about CJ betrayal
Luckily the fake death goes off without a hitch and he manages to leave with just a dinghy and a red piece of silk, going to find his love <3

If we’re doing this tax alignment chart thing
Pretty sure doctor Julian pays the least amount of taxes and writes echo, zane , and all his robot children off as dependents. So he never pays a large amount of taxes.
Cyrus Borg pays his taxes but donates a good amount of his money towards philanthropy. Ethical cyborg businessman with his android spawn who are written off as dependents.
Ray and Maya puts anything that can be written off as a business expense slapped with the blacksmith shop’s logo on it. Their car looks like one of those real estate agent’s ads put on their car.
Skylor doesn’t pay taxes and if the irs wants to fight her they fucking can. She also has a good chunk of her money stored away in offshore accounts. Consequently she also gets a version of Garmadon’s law written in her name.
Ed and Edna aren’t insane enough to take on the IRS and do their taxes with all the E’s and I’s dotted on time. Turns out Edna was an auditor and is very familiar with the bureaucratic processes.
Lou’s exempt from taxes due to being considered a national treasure. He’s just so wholesome and nobody wants to make him pay the taxes.
Cyrus gets a call from the IRS about how many dependents he has. They think he's committing tax fraud.
Cyrus is really confused because the form asked for all his children???? He answered honestly???? Are you suggesting that I have too many children??? Yes, they are all my children??? What is the problem here??? Yes all 276 of them???
After a long conversation the figure out Cyrus just sees every nindroid or self aware machine he's build as a child.
He does stop including Pixal in that count once she moves out though. She is still his child, but she's not a dependent anymore.

Capture the Flag
Summary: Clara, Justin, and Lucille play Capture the Flag, and a secret is revealed.
Word Count: 7898
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Peters siblings had only been in Camp for a week. Well, five days, but their friend Clara Ostá, an unclaimed girl the same age as Justin, kept saying a week so they eventually just went with it. They had learnt a lot in that time, about themselves, about their new friend, and about the world they lived in.
Justin had picked up Archery extremely quickly, shooting a full twelve arrow round and earning a full mark of 120, all bullseye hits. He had tried to learn how to use a sword, and though he was light on his feet, and was strong and accurate, it just felt unnatural. Especially when he watched Clara. She was basically a master already, easily taking on the best of the best in camp, even when they were much older than her. He had also started training one on one with Chiron, learning how to control his Plague Bearer powers. At first, he thought his powers were awesome, and he felt they made him feel incredibly powerful. However, he had quickly learnt that the exact opposite was true. His cabinmates were openly fearful of him, acting obviously careful around him and hesitating before asking him to participate in anything with them. That was certainly not the best feeling for the boy, but at least he had Clara and Lucille, they did not fear him. Although, his powers were getting stronger, and he was quick in learning how to control and direct them. Justin just kept to himself and practiced his favourite activities in camp.
Lucille was having an amazing time in camp now she had settled in with her new siblings. Her first night in the Hephaestus cabin was rough, being without a familiar face, and the noises of all the machines in the room scared her, but she was comforted by her eldest sibling, Beckendorf, who explained the intricacies of their cabin, and stayed awake by her side until she fell asleep. Lucille liked Beckendorf, he was kind and smart, he helped her in the forge, teaching her how to create machines and weapons, as well as assisting her with organising materials specifically for her. Since most of the tools and drawers were colour coded, and Lucille is unfortunately red-green colour-blind, the special organisation was greatly needed. She loved making things, and she was incredible at it.
Clara was enjoying having some closer friends at camp. She had to admit, she struggled making friends. Over the year she had stayed in camp, she had greatly struggled to get close to people, struggling with adapting to the English language when talking to other demigods, and just generally being awkward around people. She had never been good with people, being home schooled by her uncle back in Greece until she was seven, when her and her mother moved to the USA, where once again she struggled to make friends. She was not used to other kids, and she could not speak English at the time. Once she got to camp, it was much easier to talk to people, Chiron and Mr D being a great platform to have a proper conversation. They had some good alone time together, as she had private lessons with Chiron, Just like Justin.
English was a confusing concept for Clara. She struggled with understanding certain idioms, like the difference between a work week and full week. Her mother had never used those idioms, and her dyslexia made learning English quite the struggle for her, so certain things are much harder for her to wrap her head around than others.
One thing Clara could get her head around though was the concept of her favourite activity in Camp Half Blood: Capture the Flag!
Friday finally came, and Clara bounded out of the Hermes cabin and right over to Justin, who was tiredly emerging from the Apollo cabin, rubbing his eyes to get used to the bright summer morning.
“Kaliméra, Justin!” She half shouted as she jumped to a stop in front of her friend, smiling wide. Evidently, Justin was not used to this level of excitement, somehow, as he fell back in surprise, a very unmanly squeak escaping from his throat as he tripped over the bottom step.
“I’m gonna assume that means good morning.” Justin chuckled as he quickly got back up to his feet, with the help of an apologetic Clara. “What’s got you so happy?”
“You are really going to need to learn Greek at some point.” Clara elbowed Justin in his side, making him squirm. “But not right now! It’s capture the flag night!”
“It’s what now?”
“Michael hasn’t told you?!” Clara was utterly disgusted. How dare he not tell Justin about something so extremely important! Justin shook his head, and she went into a tirade of explaining the game to Justin as they walked to the mess hall for breakfast. Justin seemed quite confused at the whole thing, silently deciding he would ask his cabin mates (he’s still uncomfortable calling them his siblings) at breakfast. He was struggling to follow along with Clara’s explanation, as she kept going on unrelated tangents, and he was pretty sure she was speaking an odd mix of Greek and English, so definitely hard to follow. Eventually they got to the mess hall and parted ways, sitting at their own tables, Justin first heading over to the Hephaestus table to greet Lucille good morning.
-----------------
After Breakfast, Lucille came bounding over to Justin and Clara, who were standing at the base of the stairs leading up to the mess hall. Justin was asking more clear questions about the game tonight, now he fully understood what was happening. Lucille half tackled his brother into a strong hug. Despite the fact that the pair had only been at camp for a week, and that she was only 8 years old, she had grown much stronger from her lessons in the forge. The girl excitedly expressed her interest in the game tonight. The concept was fascinating to her, a mix of the classic game she plays in Phys Ed at school and the battles she heard of in history class. The excitement was overwhelming.
However, Justin’s excitement was depleting at the thought of his baby sister participating in a game as brutal as this, as it was described to him. He promised his mother he would protect her, but apparently he was way in over his head about that. Clara was not help, she just shrugged, explaining everyone took part, it was no big deal. Justin respectfully disagreed on that point.
The boy wanted clarity, so he marched along to the forge with the girls at his heals, with the clear aim of talking to the head of the Hephaestus cabin. He barged into the dark room, cluttered room, bumping into a girl around his age and quickly apologising. Lucille ran off to the end of the room to an oddly neat workbench, the tools organised by type, size, and fit, labelled with symbols that match a chart on the wall. The symbols and chart were clearly not written by Lucille, her handwriting was incredibly messy, and this person’s was quite neat and easy to read. As her companions marched over to her bench, she started fiddling with a device she had been working on, a matt bronze mess of metal and wires, vaguely shaped like the body of a bull, the size of a game controller.
“Lucille, where’s Beckendorf?” Justin asked his sister, but she was already deep in concentration.
“I’m right here.” Sounded the cheerful yet deep voice of the large, eldest child of Hephaestus. Justin turned to face him, relaxing at the comforting smile the cabin leader wore. “You got one hell of a sister here, Peters. She’s an amazing inventor, wonderful with tools! And her ability with magic, wow! Impressive for someone so young!”
The young man’s smile was so sincere, he was certainly incredibly proud of his little sister. He ruffled the girl’s hair, snapping her out of her trance, and she beamed up at him. Justin straightened up and puffed his chest out, making Clara chuckle. She muttered something about him being defensive over his sister. Justin just stood on her foot in retaliation. To be fair to her, his confidence tactic was useless in this case, as he was barely eyeline with the blacksmith’s shoulders.
“I know, Lucy has always been great with tools. You should see her in the shop back home! She’s better at the repairs than mom!” Justin bragged about his sister, making her beam and wiggle happily in her seat.
“I don’t doubt that.” Beckendorf said, glancing between the three with a warm, calculating smile. “What can I do for you?”
Justin suddenly remembered why he was in the forge in the first place.
“Yes! Right...” Justin gathered his thoughts and straightened back up. “I wanted to talk about Capture the Flag...”
“Worried she’ll be caught up in too much action?” Beckendorf crossed his arms and leant back on a cluttered workbench, shifting some miscellaneous tools. Justin nodded, pulling on the hem of his camp shirt. Beckendorf continued, “Understandable. The game can get pretty... intense... however! The Hephaestus cabin tends not to do too much face to face fighting. We make the tools for our team, make traps, that sort of thing.”
“She’ll be out of danger?”
“I’ll make sure of that. She’ll stay by my side. Not just because you’re asking, but because it’s her first game and she’s pretty young, I would also prefer she stays out of the action. For now, at least.”
He said that last part with a wink at Lucille and a smirk. He ruffled her hair once again, and wordlessly passed her a tool, a long and thin thing that looked like a screwdriver that buzzed like it flowed with electricity, which Lucille apparently needed because she immediately continued with her work.
“Well... that seems good then.” Justin immediately felt awkward. It was clear the Hephaestus cabin was very different to the Apollo cabin. These people clearly cared for each other, and protected each other. The Apollo kids, however? Ever since Justin had been told about his status as the Plague Bearer, his cabin mates seemed uncomfortable around him. Like they didn’t want to get close to him. “I can live with that.”
“Great! I’m glad you and Lucy are ok with that. I wouldn’t want to make either of you uncomfortable. You’re her brother too, I respect your opinion.” Gods, how is he this great?
The two talked for another couple minutes, as Clara moved to Lucille’s workbench and talked to her about what she was making. Lucille explained that Beckendorf was teaching her the basics of metalwork and electrics, so she can develop her pre-existing skills with tools and apply it to things like making weapons and armour, devices, anything her gigantic mind could think of. The young inventor clearly had no qualms about bragging, as she presented her draw of already finished products, some magical, some not.
“Beckendorf said I’m special! I can do magic stuff good, and really quick! Even he can’t do what I can!”
This kid has a lot going for her, as long as this level of support and ego was retained.
After a while, Justin and Clara left the two creators to their devices, Beckendorf saying he wanted Lucille to help him with some cool traps for the game tonight. That, and Clara was insisting on taking Justin around and helping him prepare for the game, insisting he was not ready enough. Justin was a little offended by that at first, but as soon as she pointed out he had only been there a few days, and even though he has a good power set, and a near perfect aim with a bow, his practice was minimal and head definitely not prepared for a battle, even a fake one.
Therefore, Clara took him to the arena, which was mostly empty. According to Clara, classes here would not be starting for another two hours, so they had time to tune Justin’s instincts. Now, since Justin did not have ADHD, he did not have the upper hand on a fast-paced battlefield like she did. It was clear Clara had spent years in camp, away from a proper school, because she did not see her Dyslexia and ADHD as something that was annoying or difficult, but as her greatest strength. Well, that, and her intellect. When on the battle field, Clara had the ego of Narcissus, and honestly? She deserved it. She had brought Justin to the arena to train with other weapons, explaining variety was always a strength. It will always improve something, be it your strength, agility, accuracy, or just improve your ability to take in your surroundings. Clara said that was the most important one. If you can take in your surroundings quickly, a plan can be formed just as quick, which is always important when your life is in danger of monsters.
First, Clara sowed Justin how to use a sword. She pulled her camp necklace from under her shirt. It was the same as everyone else’s necklaces, a simple leather chord with a single white clay bead with a golden fleece hanging from a pine tree daintily painted on, a smaller clay bead, more crudely made and only possessed by a couple people at camp, painted a dark blue with a silver bow. There were two other things on her necklace, personal belongings Clara was yet to explain to anyone. One object Justin recognised as a rune, a dark stone oval with chipped, rounded edges, and carved and painted silver in the centre was a symbol; a deep curved line at the top, with a circle in the curve, and a straight line in the middle under the circle, with two lines horizontal under the circle and curve in the middle of the rune, and finally a diagonal line at the end of the vertical line on the left side of the rune. The final object on the necklace was a celestial bronze bar, about an inch long. This is what Clara reached for, pulling it from it’s connector to the chord and spinning in through her fingers. A celestial bronze sword grew with a slash of orange light. It was a simple weapon, about 50cm long, one solid peace of metal, with a leaf shaped blade and a simple trapezoid shaped guard, and a rounded pommel. On the guard was a familiar shaped carving, the same owl design that was painted atop the door of the Athena cabin. It was truly a beautiful weapon.
Clara twirled the sword around as she wandered over to a wrack of weapons, carefully picking out another sword; a simple celestial bronze sword with a black leather grip, about a metre in length. She gestured for Justin to follow her to the centre of the arena and she handed him the second sword.
“So, I know you’ve been focusing on archery and controlling your powers, but having a variety of skills really helps. It means you can at least defend yourself when in a pinch.” She got into a ready position and gestured for him to copy. “Now, I just want you to defend yourself, don’t think about attacking me.”
“Wait, wha-”
Justin could not finish his sentence because Clara had already slashed out with her sword, which he parried clumsily. She may have the shorter weapon, but she sure knew how to use it. She moved with ease, flowing like a dance, but as quick as tornado’s wind. Justin tried to defend himself and get away from her. He jumped over abandoned chariots, stood behind weapon stores, climbed up and down the steps and seats of the arena, and rolled on the floor to avoid her expert attacks. His breath was quick, and heart racing. Justin felt hyper aware about his surroundings, taking in all obstacles and the slightest movements made by Clara, be it her eyes moving or a shift in footing. He felt aware, and felt alive.
Clara tripped Justin and he rolled over, landing on one knee. She slashed her sword down in a diagonal line, and Justin let his instincts take over. He slashed his sword in the opposite direction with all the force he could muster. The swords collided, bronze on bronze, sparks flying and forcing Clara’s hand backwards, making her stumble back a step. Justin leapt to his feet and held the point of his sword under her chin.
Both of them were breathing long, tired breaths. Clara smiled at Justin, proud of her student. Justin chuckled and dropped his sword away from her chin, pointing it at the floor.
“So,” Clara spun the sword and it shrank back to the one inch bar that she reattached to her necklace charm. “How do you feel?”
Justin thought for a second, still smiling. “Alive... Energised. That’s the most aware I’ve ever been in my life.”
“Good. Now, in a real battle, you should try and fight back, but this exercise develops consciousness. Being aware of your surroundings. What a true warrior needs to survive.”
“I can tell! That was,” Justin made a vague, excited gesture. “wow! How di you know all this stuff?”
Justin regretted asking that question as soon as the last word left his lips. Her proud, excited expression shifted quickly. She looked down at her feet, letting her long, dark hair fall in front of her face, and she fiddled with the rune on her necklace.
“My mama taught me...” Clara took Justin’s sword and wandered off to put it back on the wrack. Then, she walked over to the stands and sat down, slumped over and leaning her elbows on her thighs. Justin sat beside her and checked to see if she was ok. She instead explained what was wrong.
“I haven’t seen my mamá for a year know. We had some problems… Mamá is very similar to a demigod. Attracts monsters, has fought a lot. She has a duty to Olympus she will not rest on. She has a pretty rough past, too, so living with her is… hard. She has her issues. that, along with moving across the world to a place I didn’t speak the language, and my powers and increasingly growing monster attacks, it just got tense at home. One day, I got a letter from my father, telling me to come here. I felt bad at home, so I left.”
Clara sighed, her shoulders sagged, and she took in a long, shaky breath. She sat up straight, brushed her hair out of her face, and attempted to be subtle as she wiped tears away from her eyes and released her breath.
“She used to train with me. She’s the one who taught me how to fight, how to use a sword. Everything I know about the ancient world, the gods, monsters, I learnt from her. I just miss her is all…”
Justin could only sit there and listen. This was something he had never anticipated. Sure, he knew a good deal of the demigods here in camp either had no mortal parent or family, or just simply did not have a good relationship with their family. He expected Clara to be the same. Just, he did not expect this exact situation.
“She knows I’m safe. I’ve called her a couple times since coming here. Not often though.”
She sniffed and shifted in her seat, hugging her legs and resting her head on her knees. Justin had no idea of what to do. Emotions were not something he was good with. He could write them into a song, but comforting someone who wasn’t Lucille? It’s a stretch. He needed to learn how to do that. So he asked a question instead.
“You said she’s similar to a demigod. What’s that mean?”
Clara inhaled sharply, as if she had forgotten she said that and revealed something she shouldn’t have. She laughed awkwardly and looked at Justin, panicking to think of an excuse.
“Well, you know- you know how your mom can see through the mist? it’s basically like that!” Clara laughed awkwardly, voice higher pitched, and her accent flaring up strong.
“My mom is far from a demigod.” Justin said monotonously. “Impressive, sure. She also fought Mormo, but I would not compare her to a demigod. What’s really going on?”
Clara gulped deep, and sighed, once again fiddling with her necklace. She mumbled to herself in Greek. Justin caught the odd word, it sounded like she was cursing herself out because of her slip up. Finally, she looks at him again and explained.
“It’s complicated. you know I come from Athens, moved here when I was seven. My family is an ancient one, dating back in the record for a little under three thousand years. When the Romans started invading Greece, the gods feared for the safety of their secrets, and Lady Athena proposed a plan. Grant a family of mortals clear sight, give them her blessing, and a job to protect the secrets of Olympus, items of importance to the gods, titans, heroes, and monsters. Kinda like a librarian with access to weapons. That is what my mamá is. A Guardian of Athens, Kidemonás, champion of Athena. The job brought a lot of… issues for mamá. I am one too.”
All Justin could do was hum a sound that vaguely sounded like ‘woah’. That was certainly not something he expected. Clara panicked and continued.
“It’s supposed to be a secret. No one, not even demigods, know about the Guardians, or the Chambers we guard. it is too dangerous. you can not tell anyone about this! I should not even told you!”
“Ok!” Justin blurted out. “Ok, I won’t tell anyone. I promise. I swear on the Styx I won’t share this secret.”
Clara’s blue eyes went wide. she was shocked he would go to that length, as to swear on the Styx for her. It’s extreme, he could get hurt if her told. Suddenly, she launched at him and engulfed her in a tight hug, hiding her face in the crook of his neck.
“Thank you…”
“No problem. anything to make you feel safe.”
----------------
Soon enough, after Clara and Justin had continued their training for another two hours, fine tuning Justin’s instincts and physical abilities, practicing his war archery and quick shooting, lunch was going to be served and classes start up in the arena soon. So, the two friends excited the arena and went to their cabins to change their shirts and have a clean to rid themselves of sweat before eating. They finished up a little early and went to the forge to watch Lucille work.
They reached the forge and got a few non-serious glares from the children of Hephaestus. Justin was incredibly confused by this, but Clara explained it was because this week the Hephaestus Cabin was on the Red team for Capture the Flag, whilst the Hermes and Apollo Cabins were on the Blue team. They’re just playing around with a friendly rivalry.
Lucille was very eager to show off her work of the day. She and Beckendorf had made a crude wind-up bronze bull. The metal was awkward and scuffed, and the movements were very robotic, but it was incredible work for an eight-year-old. The four demigods got to talking, telling Justin and Lucille about the team system, each cabin’s general rolls in the game, and Beckendorf giving a purposefully vague description of what they were planning for the night. All Justin and Clara knew was they had some interesting toys to play with this evening.
It was not long before the horn announcing lunch sounded throughout the camp. They made their way to the mess hall, and Justin spent his lunch watching his friend and sister. Clara seemed pretty comfortable at the Hermes table. She knew a lot of people, she talked and laughed with them, though the sadness in her eyes left behind from the conversation about her mother never truly left. Lucille was incredibly happy with her table. She laughed and bounced in her seat, eagerly talking about whatever was on her mind with her siblings, and they all engaged well with her. He loved that she was happy.
Although Justin was happy for the girls in his life, he was also incredibly jealous. His cabin mates were not the most fun to be with. At least, they were with him. His power, his curse, scared them. As it should, Justin had been learning to control his power with Chiron, and the centaur had said he was incredibly powerful, more powerful than any Plague Bearer he had seen through the centuries. Justin did not mind his power, he thought it was pretty cool, as long as he can control it. The only thing he didn’t like was the fear and stigma from most people it brought.
After a long, quiet lunch, Justin met back up with Clara and Lucille for a quick chat before Lucille was swept away back to the forge to make devices for the game. Justin explained to Clara he would love to continue training, but he has a private lesson with Chiron now, but he offered to let her watch so she wasn’t alone. She accepted, and tagged along, Chiron in his full centaur glory leading the pair to a large opening in the woods, far from anyone else, the sounds of the camp distant and quiet.
Chiron was particularly sharp today, warning Justin that even though he has learnt quickly the past few days, he needed to make sure to control himself else he could seriously hurt someone. Chiron was pleased Clara had tagged along, asking if she would be ok with sparing with Justin so he could learn to keep his cool under attack. Clara agreed, removing her sword from its hidden form on her necklace, and Chiron handed Justin the bow he had been using and a quiver filled with celestial bronze arrows. They spared for a while, Chiron giving orders, telling Justin how to relax his muscles and mind whilst also keeping his guard up when being attacked. After an hour, Chiron stopped the fight and beckoned Clara to come close, and he bent down to whisper in her ear. Clara looked shocked at first, but smirked when she made eye contact with her friend.
“If you insist.” She said. The tone of her voice mixed with her accent made him shudder.
“Justin, we will be turning up the heat now. Clare will be using a… special power of hers to make the fight more intense.” Chiron nodded at the pair to get into sparing position. “Remember, stay relaxed, think clearly, keep your breath steady. Now, go.”
Justin nocked an arrow, and started to freak out when he looked up at Clara. Her normally icy blue eyes were now a silvery storm grey, a faint silvery blue glow encased her body, a little brighter around her right shoulder. she had a stormy, terrifying look to her. The contrast between her dark skin, the pale aura surrounding her, and the grey eyes was startling. Her playful smirk had disappeared, replaced by a tight straight lip, her eyebrows furrowed tight and her eyes in a fixed steel glare. It looked unnatural, her eyes usually darted about, taking in her surroundings, but the fixed eye contact she held now was unmoving. Her grip on her sword was so tight her knuckles paled, her muscles tensed. She charged.
Her speed was unmatched, and ferocity insane, and it was nothing like how she fought that morning. She was incredible then, but this? This was outstanding, terrifying, pure ability and skill. Justin struggled to keep up with her, his need to take an arrow from his quiver, nock it, pull back, aim, and loose was just too much to do when she was so quick and strong. His emotions and stress were flaring up, and Chiron could see it. He yelled to the boy to remain calm, keep steady, he can fight it, but Justin struggled to believe that. He was so new to this, and Clara was just too good. His stress was getting stronger and strong until finally…
He ran out of arrows.
Justin panicked, and instinct took over. He turned to Clara and caught her charging. He reached out and flexed his fingers. Clara stopped. Choked.
Justin had put her into a major coughing fit. A minor affliction, but enough to stop her surge. The glow of her power flickered and dimmed, eventually disappearing altogether, her eyes turning back to their normal ice blue. She dropped her sword, keeling over coughing, barely able to catch her breath between fits. Justin panicked, relaxing his hand and repeatedly muttering a sentence Chiron told him to repeat in times like this.
“Don’t hurt them, let them go.”
Clara finally stopped coughing, gasping for breath and dropping to her knees, panting heavily. Chiron trotted over to her and knelt down, placing a hand on her back and giving her a water bottle Justin could not figure out where he was keeping. She attempted to catch her breath, and sipped the water bottle for a couple minutes, and Justin just stood there, panicking. He really did not mean to hurt his friend, and he really hoped she would not hate him after this.
He almost jumped to the ground in front of her once he regained his composure. He worriedly checked on her and asked questions, making sure she was ok and knew he did not mean it. After a couple minutes, Clara regained her composure and smiled at Justin.
“Dude, that was awesome.”
“What?” Justin said, shocked.
“I knew Plague Bearers were powerful, but wow! That was rough! you can do better? So cool.”
Justin stared at her blankly for a moment and burst out laughing. “You are so weird.”
Clara shrugged and giggled to herself, “Yeah, but you like it!”
The pair laughed for a moment, ignoring the strange, confused stares Chiron was shooting them. Clara lightly coughed between laughs, but overall was recovering pretty well. Chiron dismissed the pair and told them to relax and regain themselves before Capture the Flag.
-------------------
Justin and Clara sat at a table in the middle of the horseshoe of cabins, a bit of a distance from the basketball court. They talked lightly as they regained their strength, Justin consistently apologising and making sure she was ok, which was met with a lot of eye rolling and insistence that she is ok. She’s a fighter, she’ll be fine. They remained like this until finally Justin gave in to his urge and finally asked what that power was.
Clara chuckled and reminded Justin of the conversation they had that morning about the Guardians of Athens, then went on to remind him Athena offered to bless the mortals set to protect the Chambers. That power was part of the blessing. It enhances her senses and abilities. Clara explained that it felt like time slowed down, so she could take in details of the battle field and react quicker. She explained that the blessing resided in a mark on her skin, a pale birth mark on the back of her right shoulder in the shape of an Athenian coin. A pale circle, with the same owl shape that was carved into her sword, above the owl to the right was an olive branch, and beside it on the edge of the circle the letters AOE on the left side. When she activated her blessing, it would glow a blueish silver, the blessing changed her eye colour to that of Athena herself, and the aura encased her body. She had learnt how to control it vaguely when she was with her mother, but Chiron and Mr D had given her private lessons on her family’s position and the powers she held. Well, her Guardianship was the main focus of her lessons, she was also taught how to control her other powers, the ones she inherited from her unknown father. She refused to tell Justin about them. He let it go.
-------------------
The games were finally beginning. Dinner was shorter than usual, the excited demigods eager to fight each other in the woods at night whilst also attempting to locate, steal, and escape with a long piece of red or blue cloth.
On the blue team, they had the Athena, Apollo, Hermes, and Demeter cabins. Justin was pleased her was on Clara’s team, she could explain things to him better than anyone in his cabin, at least. On the red team was the Ares, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, and Dionysus cabins.
Before the two teams separated and marched off to the woods, shouting war cries and praying for glory, everyone was given armour and weapons. Justin realised he would never get used to metal armour. He struggled with the straps on the shoulders, Clara having to fix it for him, so it did not hang off his body. She also adjusted the straps on his sides, muttering to herself that he had a lot to learn. Her armour was perfect, tight yet moveable, no hanging straps and just enough space between her body and armour to fit two fingers in. Absolutely perfect. Justin could not help but admire Clara’s perfection in this. She had clearly been doing this for a long time, everything came so easy to her. Though Justin could chalk this up to her connection with Athena (as he understood it, her whole thing was cleverness and being good in battle, so Justin guessed it would pass down to her kids, and by extension a Guardian like Clara), Justin chose to believe that she was just that good. She looked amazing too, her armour fit her perfectly, and not just because she knew how to wear it. In her usual clothes, like her camp shirts or the sweaters she wore, he could not really notice anything about her, except perhaps her toned bronze arms, that he definitely didn’t stare at, no way! However, in the armour, he could see her figure, as her armour fit perfectly around her. Her armour was clearly made for her, as she had a fortified shoulder guard on her left, and it was flexible around her body, partially leather, partially metal. Obviously, she still had a lot of developing to do, but she was already beautiful. Anyone could tell that she was going to be an absolute looker, mistakable for a daughter of Aphrodite, when she was older. It fit around her toned body nicely. She quickly tightened her armguards and pulled out her camp necklace before looking at Justin properly.
In short, the boy was a mess. Clara had to hold in a bit of laughter looking at him. his skinny, untrained form struggled to fit into any armour properly. This size fit the best, but still not great, as Justin was rather tall for his age, so the armour made for his height also provided room for some muscle, and the size down didn’t reach low enough to cover his whole torso, so there was no hope in finding anything perfect until he toned up a bit. Luckily, since he is an archer, he was allowed to wear mostly leather armour, so it didn’t look as bad as it would if it were metal. Especially when he put his quiver over his shoulder, that fit much better and tightened his leather vest. As she stepped back to look at her work, She did notice his awkward smile, and his drumming fingers on the riser of his bow, and acknowledged that behind the cluelessness and idiocy was a skilled and intelligent and cute guy. Not cute as in she liked him! cute like he’s a lost puppy. yes, that.
Lucille, on the other hand, was a hilarious sight to behold. They clear did not have armour small enough for her, so she remained helmetless, and her too-big chest plate hung off her body, Justin wondered how she would be quiet and sneaky with the amount it shifted when she moved, and she was moving a lot. Her excitement was showing incredibly, she bounced on her feet and had her gloved hands balled into fists, shaking them in front of her chest, her toothy smile beaming in the evening light. She stood beside Beckendorf, who had a sack slung over his shoulder, his other hand on her shoulder and talking to Clarisse, the Red Team’s leader as the head councillor of the Ares Cabin.
Finally, the two teams set off, dividing and heading off to their chosen base. The blue team headed to the North Woods, finally stopping about 50 yards away from the beech. The cabin leaders split off and gave out tasks. The Athena cabin was to split in half, team A moving along the forest line across the beech, and team B loop around the other end, towards Zeus’ Fist. That was apparently the most likely place for the Ares cabin to put their flag. The Apollo and Hermes Cabins were to combine and work together, splitting into groups of two, one from each cabin, and those groups would be split in half, team 1 being defence, and team 2 being sent straight ahead as a diversion attack. Finally, the Demeter cabin were to stay with the flag, using their plant manipulation to protect the prize.
Justin and Clara teamed up, and were sent away to the middle of the forest, adjacent to Zeus’ Fist and across the river. The two plant themselves hidden in a relatively thick section of the woods, sitting back-to-back, looking into two different clearings. They sat in silence for a while, listening and watching for movement, ready to battle despite the fact the game hadn’t officially been called to start yet. They still had a couple minutes for that. but they could never be careful, especially if someone else decided this was a good spot to hide. Finally, they heard the horn sound in the distance. The game begins.
Clara and Justin listened out for any sound coming close, Justin had an arrow knocked in preparation, a knife strapped to his side in case he needed a close combat weapon. Clara had drawn her heirloom sword, holding it close to her chest in hopes of hiding it in the bushes. Not soon after the horn blasted, the pair heard footsteps nearby their hiding spot. Well, Clara heard them and infirmed Justin. Her battle senses where a lot stronger than his. Whether that was a Guardian thing or something she inherited from her father, she wouldn’t know. Clara glared into the near distance, waiting for any sign of movement, Justin followed her gaze and readied his bow. He had a pretty good shot from where he was.
A positive: Clara was right, someone was indeed coming towards them.
A negative: ‘someone’ actually meant seven people. a small group compared to the entirety of the Red team, and Justin had never been too good at math, but he was pretty sure seven was more than two.
the team consisted of three Ares kids and two Hephaestus kids. Five strong and skilled demigods against one amazing swordsman and a novice archer. Sounds like a fair fight.
Clara quietly pulled out an arrow from Justin’s quiver, and pulled out a ball of strong from the gods only know where. she tied the end to underneath the flights of the arrow and looked at the path the Red Team demigods were walking on. She muttered to Justin,
“Shoot that log there.”
Justin complied, silently shooting at the log with the arrow she had modified. The team of five jumped a little at the sudden sound.
“What was that?”
“Who’s there?!”
“Come on guys, it was probably just a squirrel or something. it’s gone now, and do you see anyone? let’s just get this flag.”
And at that, the five walked in the direction of Justin’s arrow. Just when the five were two feet away, Clara pulled tight on the string, and the front two kids tripped, faceplanting the dirt. the other three readied their weapons and the tripped two attempted to get up, but Justin acted fast, quickly knocking and arrow and shooting at them, the arrow digging into the sleave of the first guy’s tshirt, pinning him to the ground. The other one got to his feet, but was only in a crouched position by the time Justin had knocked another arrow and loosed, catching his baggy shorts, and knocking him down. The other three locked onto the bush Justin and Clara were hiding in, and Clara took her chance. She charged, brandishing her sword, and attacked the three. Now, for any normal fighter, this would be a terrible decision. A suicide mission, in fact. But Clara is no normal fighter. once the three had realised what happened, Clara had tripped one, who rolled back onto their front and jumped back to their feet, but she had moved on to the next, quickly disarming him, then onto the third, who put up a good fight. The second guy, an Ares kid, picked his sword back up and charged, but Justin leapt out of the bush with an arrow knocked and quickly loosed, the arrow reaching its mark in the blade of the sword, pushing his arm to the side so he didn’t hit Clara. He charged to the guy Clara tripped, a Hephaestus kid, and kicked his back, pulling an arrow out of his quiver and stabbing it into the ground through his loose tshirt. The last Ares kid fighting Clara was putting up one hell of a fight, the two experienced warriors matching each other’s energy perfectly. That was, until the Ares kid tripped Clara. She rolled to the side, avoiding the blad that was stabbed into the ground, and when she landed on her feet, she smirked. Her ice blue eyes glowed a stormy grey, and her shoulder lit up under her fortified armour, the light quickly encasing her whole body.
Her Blessing of Athena.
The Ares kid looked panicked; he had clearly seen this before. Though his unearned confidence quickly returned, and he attacked, slashing his sword down on Clara, who parried with so much force, the kid was knocked backwards. Clara leapt to her feet, swinging her sword around to build momentum and beating down at the guy, who could only stumble backwards and block as many attacks as he could. Clara was far too fast and far stronger than this guy, and it showed. Far sooner than the Ares kid wanted, Clara disarmed him. Shooting his word into the trunk of a tree, she tripped him, slashed at his chest plate, knocking him with more force into the floor, and winding him horribly. Soon, the whole team was pinned to the ground, winded, or just given up. Clara laughed a little, looking down at her work, and acknowledging the arrows pinning people.
“We make a good team!” Clara said cockily, her eyes returning to normal, and her glow fading.
“Yeah. yeah, we do.” Justin said, a light blush filling his cheeks.
“Come on, let’s go find more groups.”
At that, the two ran away in the same direction, back towards their team’s flag, in a quest to find more people to fight. Justin was starting to see why Clara loved this so much. It was incredibly invigorating.
--------------
Clara and Justin truly were an amazing team. The managed to take down two more groups soon after their initial fight, using Clara’s blessing, her strange, mysterious powers inherited from her unknown father, and Justin’s insane accuracy and a limited version of his new powers. Somehow, Justin managed to control himself enough to just give his opponents a bit of vertigo, enough to make it easy to knock them down with a slight push, and they would not be getting up for a little while. The two were energised, ready for anything, and perfectly in sync. The two dashed off after their second battle and stopped in a small clearing to catch their breath.
“You’re doing good, Peters!” Clara panted smiling wide, her eyes now permanently grey her energy rises. “Improved a lot, you’re gonna be an amazing warrior after more training!”
“Thanks.” Justin said through deep breath and a wide smile. “You’re pretty awesome yourself.”
The two smiled softly at each other, but that smile dropped immediately when they both felt a metal clamp around their legs. The initial contact hit Justin’s left leg, and a split second after wrapping around his right. The opposite happened for Clara. The two saw a celestial bronze wire shoot up from the ankle clamps and attach to a branch on a tree, then shooting the two upwards and stopping quickly, leaving them hanging from the branch.
“What the-”
The two heard a familiar little giggle, and a more booming chuckle they recognised.
“You two walked right into our trap!” Beckendorf walked out of the shadows with a bouncing Lucille at his side.
“Lucy??” Justin exclaimed, slightly laughing along with his sister, impressed at her work.
“Caught you!” She exclaimed, pulling her tongue out at her big brother.
“Yeah, you did.” Justin Smiled at Lucille, then looked to Beckendorf, who had his arms crossed and looking between the girl and their captives, clearly proud. “Did you make these?”
“I helped! It was super cool!”
“She did really well.” Beckendorf said. “She’s an amazing worker.”
“Yeah, she is.”
“Hey!” Clara exclaimed, a little annoyed but mostly joking around with them. “Can you let us down?”
“Go on Lucy, what do we do if we let them down?” Beckendorf patted her shoulder and she looked up at him, reminding herself of the script she had been given. She stopped fighting and puffed her little chest out, trying to put on a serious face, but she was still so happy for succeeding, her serious face breaking into a smile.
“Only if you…” she paused for a moment, to think. “Surrender! and be our prisoner!”
“Oh, that’s the deal, huh?” Clara smiled. “Are you up for a compromise?”
“Depends on what it is.” Beckendorf shrugged.
“Let us go, you run off, we wait a minute before also making a move.”
“No deal. Looks like you’re gonna be swinging there for a while!” He said in a sing-song manner.
“Then what do you propose?”
“We let you go, but you betray your team and join us.”
“Yeah, I’m not gonna do that.”
Justin attempted to gulp; Clara was really screwing with their chance to escape. But just before Beckendorf could respond, three Red Team soldiers ran past holding the Blue flag.
“Looks like you’re going to be hanging there for a bit.” Beckendorf smiled cockily and chuckled. He turned to Lucille, “Hey Lucille, guard these two for me?”
Lucille nodded enthusiastically, and Beckendorf ran off shouting back to Lucille to remember how to release them.
“You do know how to release us, right?” Justin said, unsure.
Lucille just sat down, staring at her brother and friend, and needed, taking out a small remote and waving it in the air. “Just have to press one button… umm… I think this one?”
“Lucille!!”

Summary: It’s a day like others, just without the usual mayhem shaking the entire city. A time to think of less stressful possibilities.
“So, what did we learn today?”
“That dares are stupid?” As they got back inside the monastery, finally escaping the chilling winter air, Nya raised a gigantic eyebrow at the green ninja. At which the mighty leader seemed to shrink the littlest bit. “… that dares involving the master of lighting putting lights on the tree using spinjitzu, resorting in him entangling himself into the wires and making every single bulb explode by electrification, are stupid?”
“There you go.” The master of water sighed loudly. “I don’t even know why I’m surprised it happened.” Despite the nonchalance of this blondie, the brand-new lights that they had been forced to buy and how she was probably the only one irritated about it – especially since Kai had been laughing hysterically for ten minutes straight afterwards –, she smiled.
Lloyd mimicked her, probably sensing he was not in mortal danger anymore, taking off scarf and hat. His golden locks puffed up as soon as the headpiece was off.
“Does the fact that I lost against Cole count as enough punishment?”
“Mhm?”
“I bet with him it was going to be Kai the first to cause an incident, he was supposed to be the one to take the bet. Now I’m in debt of one week of chores.” Another eyebrow was raised, less furious, more judging. “What? I’m trying to catch up, apparently the guys used to bet on everything when they first formed the team, from who was going to be the green ninja, to who was going to be the first to find out the identity of Samurai X! Like, I’m that prophesied green savior, and I knew about your little escapades.” Nya couldn’t help the little smirk. Ironically, the green ninja did turn out to be the first to discover the truth. “I could’ve won two times already, I wanna keep up now.”
They stepped into the kitchen, hearing faraway sounds. The others were most likely elsewhere putting up less expendable decorations. Nya was already looking towards the stove, thinking of nothing other than hot chocolate. Knowing Lloyd, they were on the same page.
“Okay, that’s uselessly prideful and kind of adorable, but this better not turn into a gambling addiction little one.”
“Nya, my father was the king of the Underworld. Is there really a worse evil than that?”
She couldn’t argue back.
Lost in thoughts about something warm to melt her frozen bones, she almost jumped when the sudden scribble came to her ears, and one extremely peaceful whistling that they were all too accustomed to at this point. In the living room right next, sitting on the sofa with the television uncharacteristically switched off, was Cole. Eyes on a random notebook he had on his knees, a pencil in the air, wearing that ridiculous sweater Jay found at the mall with muscled arms drawn over the sleeves – such a miracle of an ugly sweater.
He looked extremely taken by his activity, munching the end of the pencil every once in a while. Seeing their official lifter so calm and captured by whatever mindless activity had forced him to sit down was curious. It did happen before, but lately it got rarer. It was always a nice view.
Nya looked at the green ninja, who pointed at the kitchen with his thumb, right where the mugs where. She nodded, and went to take place next to the master of earth.
Who jumped right away, giving her a look.
“What the…? You’re back already? I didn’t hear you get in.”
“Wow, you don’t say!” From the kitchen the blonde’s voice erupted. “It’s almost like we’re ninja or something, unbelievable!” It followed accurate noises made by mouth, and if they knew him – and after years they absolutely did – then the little brat was probably mimicking an explosion coming out of his head – he was hanging around Jay a little too much.
Nya giggled, while the master of earth rolled his eyes with a little grin.
“Nice to hear you’re all in a good mood after our little blackout. You got the lights?”
“All done. Sorry about the scare, but it looked like you were in your own world.” She tilted her head, looking around. The living room was getting more festive, but it missed at least half the holly. “Didn’t you guys finish while we were gone?”
“We were going to, then something came up and we can’t really continue until Zane comes back to the shop… Kai accidentally set the tree on fire while you two were gone.” Her loud facepalm spoke louder than any of them. “I think Wu is still giving him an earful as he did with Jay as we speak … and before you ask Lloyd, Jay made a mess before Kai. So I still won the bet.”
“Aww, for once that I actually need Hot Shot to cause a mess!” The green ninja came out of the kitchen, the kettle starting to heat up into the kitchen, pout clearly in sight. For being their brave leader and the strongest ninja of all, he was still kind of a kid – although in all honesty, weren’t they all? “Anyway, what got you so into it that you forgot how to hear?” He walked until he was behind the couch, leaning over the master of earth’s shoulder and smiling. “Hey, that’s pretty cool! I didn’t know you could draw!” His surprised tone came out sincerely, especially since it felt like forever since they had found each other in this weird family. Finding new details was always a shock.
Nya scooted closer as well, smiling at the familiar shading of the chicken drawn onto the paper, with the real one sleeping over a pillow in front of the tv.
“You still have a nice touch. I haven’t seen you do it ever since it was just the four of you in action, and this little evil brat was in some random snake prison.” Lloyd mouthed an ‘oohhh’ of understand as why he didn’t remember. “To be more specific, I’m pretty sure it was back when instead of listening to my research about the Serpentine, you guys have tried to poison me with perfume.” Good thing no villain knew about her little Achilles hill.
Cole snorted, pressing his eraser on the corner of the paper.
“You were telling complicated stuff to that airhead that is your brother, to the guy that was lookin at your in awe while trying his hardest to ask you out, and to a nindroid. A robot. You can’t really blame us.”
“What’s your excuse then?” The master of earth raised his piece.
“I’m pretty freaking good at this.” Nya snorted. Again, no arguments here. “You know… I’ve been thinking about those times. And it’s not like it was easier, but I guess we didn’t really know how much things could become complicated and return back then.” Cole looked over the drawing, shrugging. “But I’m in vein of taking something back from there, exactly because we don’t know when we could get called into action again. It’s little, but it’s still mine… I felt silly like that this morning.” He grinned of that introverted nature that, despite years, was still a part of him.
And it was okay. It was great even. Nya gave him a shoulder.
“Hey, it’s not silly, it’s good.”
“Yeah! All of us should do something other than fighting.” Lloyd chimed in, dropping next to Cole on the other side, smiling. “Like for example, even though it’s been a pretty shady part of my life, I kinda miss PE back at Darkley’s. Moving just for the sake of moving. We should play sometimes, not because of training, it could be fun… or Nya could annihilate us, whichever comes first.”
“I’m not that competit-” The master of water blinked twice, shaken by the quickest flashback of her life. “… no wait scratch that, I totally am.”
Cole snickered, tapping the notebook with his pencil.
“Besides having as a golden rule to never put the blacksmith brothers against each other-” It could be the time Ninjago actually managed to get completely destroyed for good. “I would be down for that, why not? No sparring or anything, just a friendly match of whatever. I didn’t even get to do that as a kid, dad would always say that I could risk putting muscles where a dancer didn’t need them…” He flexed one arm, the massive hill pulling up the drawing onto the sleeve. He grinned with satisfaction. “How about football? I’ve always wanted to try football!” Oh for whatever reason other than having the strength to tackle a mountain?
“Absolutely!” Lloyd nodded eagerly. “Let’s do it! Oh, and soccer too, Brad and I used to try that a lot when we were kids!” He seemed to absolutely glow and the perspective, and it was kinda sad that such a simple reality represented an actual opportunity for him.
Before Nya could get lost into more self-deprecating depressive thoughts, and the fact that not even one of them had a normal childhood except maybe for Jay – and considering the still not so clear Cliff Gordon erased reality affair that was still up to discussion –, there was a loud whistle coming from the kitchen. The green ninja immediately sprouted into action, sprinting towards the sound. As soon as Cole decided to put down his drawing, seeing as the chicken had woken up to go bother someone – bet on Kai –, the blondie came back with three steaming mugs, giving to them all.
The master of water held up hers – a blue one with a storm cloud on it saying ‘Too tide to talk’ –, smiling at the distinct bitter scent of black cocoa. They knew each other tastes way too well.
“Sounds good to me. I also fancy basketball, so I’m down for that.”
“Nice! Mm, but how about other hobbies? Nya?” Cole took his time to take a generous sip from his mug that was literally dripping because of the amount of marshmallow – covering slightly the orange surface with ‘I’m a grounded person, like my coffee’ written on it –, while the gray ninja frowned a little. “Anything you would like to regain? You never really stopped with engineering so I’m guessing that’s out of the way.”
“Yeah, but,” She hummed, tracing the warm cup with her fingers. “That wasn’t a hobby or something I liked to do, not at first at least. It was just like Samurai X, a way to show you guys I could do what you did, even better. It grew on me, but it’s kinda work too, I’m proud of it but nowhere near as passionate as Jay or Cyrus Borg could be.” It was all about her tendency of holding onto the things she excelled at after all, the one obstacle that had almost cost her the true potential of her element. Despite her steps forward, putting a difference between liking to be good at something and liking it was still a little complicated. Then again… “… maybe painting?”
Cole grinned in surprise, Lloyd raised his head from his cup showing an impressive chocolate mustache – along with that black mug saying ‘It’s morning so you green and bear it’… and yes those mugs were all Jay’s presents.
“Whoa, where did that come from?”
“Yeah no offence, but you never stroke me as the artistic type.”
“None taken, it’s not exactly something that I feel it belongs to me, but maybe that’s why I used to like it. Because it was so far I didn’t have to think too much about it.” Nya smiled, taking another sip. “Remember the second Steep of Wisdom Wu opened in the middle of Ninjago City? To attract more customers I decided to work on a mural, right on the side. I don’t even know why, I just bought paint, brushes and a suit and started.”
“Oohh, I remember the one!” Lloyd snapped his fingers, the marshmallow in his cocoa shaking in the movement. “It was the one with the big majestic Wu serving the customer, I thought he hired an artist for it! That was cool!”
“You’re not saying it just because you’re my little brother, right?”
“Oh no, if it was ugly I would make a manifest all about it exactly because I’m your little brother. Brotherly code, smack talk every time it’s possible.” And then he fist bumped with his earthly brother nearby, wearing that same stupid grin. “But seriously, you were good at it. We finally have some free time to our hands, maybe it could be a good time for a new work. We still need the mural of that Day of the Departed where Cole turned back human after all, since those monks decided they had ‘lost the harmony of the inspiration’.” No one had been happy with leaving that important adventure behind – too bad they were in a monastery, a place of peace.
Cole hummed mindlessly, munching a marshmallow.
“Tell you what, how about we buy drawing and painting materials together for Christmas shopping?” He chugged down his drink, releasing a very satisfied sigh before leaning his back softly over the couch. “It’s usually Zane or Pix, we could take over for once and no, don’t give me that look water lily, it’s not for buying an extra cake and yes, do give me that look greenie, if you come along we’re so escaping and get to the sweet shop.” And there it came, another fist bump.
She had signed up for this.
She had signed up for this the moment she had let herself being overtaken by a bunch of skeletons, a past hit on her pride that to this day made her want to take a bone and break it in halves every time she thought about it – sports were going to be massacres, she was kinda looking forwards to it.
“I’m bringing leashes for you two vampires with sweet teeth, but it’s not a bad idea. And I like the mall in this period, it could even bring some inspiration as to what to paint.”
“How did you decide the first time?”
“I just thought of a simple design to get more clients.” Nya finished her drink, giving her eyes to a very curious looking blonde, thinking that it had been so long. It had always been so long, every single time she reevoked a part of her life, even though she was still so young. It was that eventful. “I worked on that project all day… but after it melted under the sun, it got ruined because of the wind and a lightning decided to strike it right in the middle, I just splashed it with all the colors I had and spinjitzued the heck out of it.”
“… rage, the mark of an artist.” Lloyd snickered, then he froze, suddenly beaming at the two. “Hey, why don’t you two work on something together? Cole makes the drawing and you paint it, it could be like a Christmas gift or something!”
Nya popped her mouth opened. How did they never think of that? How did they never while they had been battling villain after villain after villain after- Oh, there was the answer.
She turned to the master of earth, who looked just as engaged with the idea, if not more.
“Heck yeah, let’s do it! I can sketch a few ideas!”
“I do have colors I never got to try last time…”
“And I know mom got a few old frames that didn’t get accepted by the museum, I’m sure we can find a good one for this.” Lloyd grinned, scratching his cheek. “It’s almost weird putting up a plan for something other than defeating evilness…”
“Maybe, doesn’t make it any less good.” Cole winked at the two of them, looking inspired. And it was so good to see her brothers so high-spirited, and being happy with them. “… aha, I got one!” The master of earth hurried to the notebook, scrabbling quickly while the green ninja leaned his chin over his shoulder to see better, and the master of water did the same with her elbow on the other side. There was no other noise besides the pencil moving, and the suddenly more vivid voice of the rest of their family not too far away.
Peace was an abstract concept, it was in her life at least. But at least this moment, this situation, this instant, for Nya this was hers. And she wanted to make the most of it.
“… is that Jay getting entangled into the Christmas lights while doing spinjitzu?”
“Yeah? Is that the ‘should I punch you now or later for stupidity’ frown?”
“Nah, it’s the ‘what shade of color better depict bad life decisions’ frown.”

Beep beep I’ve got aus too sis :0
First an Au me and @untitled5071 talk about every so often, so Barbara is the goddess of nature and family and Adam is a mortal blacksmith and they eventually fall in love. They hang out like allllll the time and when Barbara can’t see him she’ll just manifest some flowers by him so he knows she’s thinking of him. And he’ll go to her temple and offer her things and when she comes home later that day she’ll just be wearing whatever he left her. And after a wile they come across a goddess of death (Lydia) who they eventually take in as their own. And if y’all want sm angst, after many years Barbara notices that Adam had fallen extremely ill and pleades to the higher ups to either heal him/spare him or let him become immortal. And after a few weeks of fighting they finally allow it. Do they just live happy as a little god family.
Band Au! (One of my personal favs!)
Barbara and Adam are both seniors in their marching band. Barbara is color gaurd Captain and Adam is drum major. And their like THE power couple. They both help each other with things like carrying equipment or planning out drill sheets stuff like that. They always are together and are almost always together in the stands or they share the same bus seat. Barbara usually always has her bag packed with random things, random yet useful. Like she always has a blanket for her and Adam when it gets cold in the stands. Also 10/10 she steals his jackets if she dosent have her own. They always try to teach each other what they do so some times Adam will teach her how to conduct and Barbara has tried to teach him simple flag stuff and he fails absolutely miserably.
Now for the headcannons
-Barbara worked as a preschool teacher for special ed kids. Though when she took maternity leave she never ended up coming back. They later found out that it was because she died.
-Barbara’s got sm scent things in the house but probably had to cut back due to it giving Adam a head ache.
-all of their children stuff is locked away in a room and when the Deetzs came Barbara was extremely defensive over the room but eventually they did get into it.
-Barbara’s very heavy into music where it usually can help keep her mood fluctuations in check.
-ADAM ALSO LIKES WALL-E!!! Space? Cute robots? He cried absolutely. Also they probably contemplated about naming their child something Disney related.(I mean lmao I was 🤷‍♀️)
-Barbara’s really good at baking! She had a little home shop that Friends would come around and get cakes and stuff from her. She still did this when she was pregnant (even though Adam told her she should probably take it easy). She tried to teach Adam to bake but he’s still very bad at it. She’s still proud of him tho.
-Adam tried to surprise her on her birthday with dinner one but when Barbara came home from work he almost burnt down the house trying to make pasta because he got distracted.
-the interior of the house changes constantly to fit what ever aesthetic Barbara’s currently into. Yes it was a hippie disaster at one point, which was Barbara’s favorite.
-One of Barbara’s favorite forms of expression is her nails she’s got a favorite color for every season.
-Adam is deathly afraid of contacts. Barbara has told him to get a pair but he actually poked his eye bad once in 10th grade and has refused to get some ever since
-Adam can not swallow a pill to save his life but Barbara can take like 3 on the spot, and Adam is kinda sacred of her for that
-Adam is the “I’m having a bad day can I talk to you about it?” Type wile Barbara is the “ill keep all my trama down here and one day I’ll DIE”
-Barbara also never gives in to saying she’s sick (like a mom) and will always insist she’s fine. Adam has to like pry her to talk about if she’s bothered by something
-also Barbara can speak a little Spanish and will some times call Adam mi amor
Maitlands Headcanons
So Back on my BS, here are some Maitlands headcanons I’ve thought of because I love these dorky parental figures. Once again most of these are what i know about the musical characters and not so much about the movie cause im not as familiar.

DotD rewrite Episode 3: Paranormal Activities
Here’s the last finished episode. I hope you enjoy it.
Episode 3
Paranormal Activities
In the Corridor of Elders, Lloyd stood his ground and reached behind his back for his sword as Pythor slithered quickly toward him.
“Pythor, what are you doing?” Misako asked, thoroughly alarmed.
“Giving the boy a one way trip to join his daddy!” Pythor answered.
“Sorry,” Lloyd snapped, “but I don’t really feel like going on vacation!” Their two weapons clashed. To push him back, Lloyd launched himself off Pythor with both feet and flipped through the air to land near the stone wall.
Pythor looked up and saw one of the statues just above the green ninja. “But it’s a holiday! Respect your elders!” With that, he threw his staff up toward the statue, and the head came tumbling down.
“Lloyd!” Misako cried.
The head came crashing down, but instead of flattening Lloyd, the green ninja used his powers over earth to catch and hold the weight of the stone head. It wasn’t easy though. He didn’t know how long he’d be able to hold it.
In Ignacia, the Condrai Crushers charged towards the siblings of water and fire. They dodged them just in time. “Nya! The Raider Bikes! Take out the Crushers first!” Kai called to his sister.
“Got it!” Nya responded. They both hurried over to the bikes and started the engines. They roared into action, intent on knocking the Crushers over. Nya took on one, Kai the other. Things were evenly matched until the Crusher Kai was fighting rammed into him with enough force to send the bike rolling.
“Aaaahhh!” Kai yelped as he flew through the air and landed at Chen’s feet.
Chen laughed. He raised the anacondrai sword above his head and brought it swishing down. Kai rolled out of the way, but not before the purple blade grazed his arm. Kai hissed in pain as he looked at the rip in his gi. It wasn’t deep, but it still hurt like crazy.
“Kai!” Nya cried. She drove over to her fallen brother and jumped off the bike to help.
“I’m fine, Nya!” Kai insisted. “Keep fighting!”
“You’ll pay for that Chen!” Nya snarled at the enemy, and met his sword with hers with a fury like the waves of a stormy sea.
In the Birchwood Forest, the nindroids slowly approached Zane.
“Escape is futile, Zane,” Cryptor sneered. “You and I share a programming! I know your every move before you even make it.”
“Not anymore, Cryptor,” Zane shot back. “I’ve had a few upgrades since we last met.”
“Oh? Then let’s see if I can’t adapt as well!”
Zane analyzed the situation and calculated the probable moves they could make. “PIXAL, what do you make of this?” he asked.
“Based on our previous experiences with him, Zane,” PIXAL began, “Cryptor will likely use cloaking devices, laser blasts, and the rockets in his feet to combat your best moves. Airjitzu will not be very helpful with this fight.”
“Then I guess we’re fighting on the ground,” Zane concluded. “If he disappears, activate infrared vision. The heat given off by his functions should give him away.” The nindroid sidekicks flew toward Zane. He fended them off, succeeding in destroying them with explosive shurikens. Now it was just him and Cryptor.
“Impressive,” Cryptor complimented. “Perhaps this fight will be interesting after all!” Zane’s clone charged, and their weapons clashed at speeds only androids could achieve.
Back in the junkyard, Jay was trying to hold back Ed from trying to save Edna on his own. “Don’t you worry, Edna! I’ll take care of those piles of bones!”
“Oh, Ed, careful now! Dr. Birkman said not to strain!” Edna called from Samukai’s grasp.
“I got this, Dad!” Jay said, and fired bolts of lightning at both mechs, knocking them away. Jay turned to Samukai. “I have no idea what you want with my parents, but I’m all charged up!”
“It’s not your parents I want, Jay,” Samukai growled. “It’s you!” He hurled Edna through the air. Thankfully, Ed caught her. Jay and Samukai charged at each other, and the fight began. Jay swung his nunchucks at the Skulkin general, who met the weapon with his own.
Back at the concert the Royal Blacksmiths finished their song. Dareth raced back onto the stage. “Alright, alright, alright! The Royal Blacksmiths, everybody!” The crowd cheered. “Before my boys continue, I’d like to thank everybody for coming out here tonight! What a crowd! Your costumes are great! Funny clowns and aliens. Wow! Those stone warriors in the back are great!”
Kozu led four stone warriors toward the stage. He growled in his native language.
“So realistic!” Dareth observed as they drew nearer. A little too realistic… wait a minute… “Those aren’t costumes! Aaahh!” he yelled as he ran off the stage away from the approaching threat.
“REVENGE!” Kozu shouted as he and the other stone warriors chased Dareth into the museum. “DESTRUCTION!”
In the ruins of the old monastery, Wu turned to find Morro facing him with a knowing smirk. “My former student,” he acknowledged. “How have you returned, Morro?”
“Perhaps that is not the question we should be asking ourselves, Sensei,” Morro said cryptically, passing his sword across his face.
“We have fought before, and although it pains me, I will do so again.”
“You misunderstand my intent,” Morro told his old master. “I’m not here to fight. I’m here to help.”
“Are you?”
“Believe me, it was a tough decision. I’m giving up a lot. I could have gone with the others.”
“Others?”
“Have you heard of the Vase of Wicked Souls Past?”
“Indeed. My father once sealed it away, but it was stolen by treasure hunters.”
“It’s been broken. That’s why I am back. But others have come back too. They are confronting your students now.”
“Tell me more.”
“I will, but aboard the Bounty. We have to warn the others.”
Cole crept down the hallways of Yang’s temple, keeping an eye out for Yang’s students.  He remembered going through a door that should be around here somewhere.  After a little snooping around, he finally found it. “Yes!” he cheered.  He opened it, only to find two students in his path.  “No!” he groaned.  The students approached him with swords.  “Hey, listen. This isn’t fair! You’ve got weapons, and I’m still handcuffed!”
One student approached him, only to cut him loose.  “Wait, you’re helping me?” Cole asked in surprise.
“No,” the student replied.  “But we fight fair here.  Now let’s see what you’ve got.”
Cole stomped one foot down, sending a tremor through the floor. The ghost students lost balance and fell to the ground.  Cole picked up their weapons. That was almost too easy. “Huh! Maybe I can do this by myself!”
As soon as Wu and Morro were aboard the ship, they took flight. Once Wu put the ship on autopilot, he turned to Morro. “What exactly happened, Morro?” he asked.
“All the villains in the museum have come back to life.  They are all going after the ninja. I pretended to be going after you, to keep them from getting suspicious. Cryptor’s going after Zane, Samukai’s going after Jay, Pythor’s after Lloyd, Chen’s taking on Kai and Nya, and Kozu seemed to be chasing someone outside in a brown suit. Not sure what his name was; no one said.”
“Thank you, Morro. How can I repay you?”
Morro paused for a moment before giving his answer. “All I ask for is… a second chance.”
Wu lowered his head. “I’m sorry, Morro, but I cannot take Lloyd’s title away from him.”
“You misunderstand. I meant a second chance at being good.”
Wu was surprised, but kept it hidden. “I see,” he responded. “I will certainly give you a second chance. Though you should not expect the other ninja to give you as warm of a welcome. It will take a lot to earn their trust.”
“I understand, Sensei.”
Kai and Nya kept fighting, Kai using his uninjured arm. The siblings fought with great ferocity, but Chen and the snakes were proving to be quite hard to beat.
“Don’t fight too hard, princess,” the snake Nya was fighting taunted. “You might mess up your hair!”
Nya’s blood boiled at the comment. She was NOT going to take that kind of crap. “Princess, huh?” she growled. “Well, first thing you’ve got to know about this princess is that she is NOT a damsel in distress!” With that, she brought her weapon swishing down - and cut the snake’s hand off.
The rest of the battle seemed to freeze as everyone looked over at the screaming snake. “Retreat!” Chen called in fear, and the snakes followed him sprinting away from the scene.
“No one calls me a princess,” Nya snarled, watching them flee.
Kai chuckled. “That’s my little sister,” he said proudly.
Nya smiled at him. “Now let’s take care of that cut of yours,” she said.
“I’m fine,” Kai assured her, but his wince gave him away.
“Oh, no you’re not. Get in the shop. We’ve got bandages there.”
Zane continued to fight Cryptor. Despite being titanium, he was evenly matched with Cryptor’s abilities. The clone fired lasers at Zane, which he dodged without too much trouble.
“Zane, you can’t get close enough with his lasers firing at you,” PIXAL pointed out.
Suddenly Zane had an idea. “I can fix that,” he told her. He threw a shuriken, and with his robotic precision, it hit Cryptor right in the eye, disabling his lasers and blinding him in that eye.
Cryptor pulled the weapon out of his eye, exposing the wires underneath. He discarded the shuriken and ran at Zane. But without depth perception, his attack was easily dodged. The ninja picked up the shuriken Cryptor had dropped and continued to fight.
Realizing he was at the disadvantage, Cryptor stepped back and disappeared. Zane looked around and saw his foe perched on a branch high in the trees. “You may have won this time,” he called down to the ninja, “but the next time we meet, expect to see some upgrades!” With that, he took off with the rockets on his feet into the night.
Jay and Samukai kept fighting with no sign of who was winning. Then Jay had an idea. Skulkin were used to the dark. He ran over to the fuze box by the trailer and gave it some extra electricity. The lights around the junkyard brightened so that it was blinding Samukai and the other skulkin.
“It’s… too… bright!” Samukai yelped. “I can’t see!”
Jay ran toward the Skulkin general to finish him off, but before he could reach him, Samukai ran off with his sidekicks into the night.
Ed and Edna walked over to where Jay stood panting. “That’s our boy!” Ed said proudly.
Lloyd struggled to keep holding up the stone head. “Can’t... hold on… much longer!” he groaned.
Misako had been fighting Pythor with spinjitzu, but had eventually worn herself out. Pythor now held her against the rock with his staff. “Yes, you can!” she encouraged her son.
“Foolish boy!” Pythor shouted at the green ninja. “You continually underestimate me! You’re so like your father!”
“He’s right, Lloyd!” Misako urged. “You’re brave, and noble, and-”
“And a master of spinjitzu!” Lloyd finished, his confidence returning. “You are still with me, Dad! Ninja-GO!”  He surrounded himself with his green tornado and quickly spun out from under the head. The twister collided with Pythor, and beat him back from Misako. Lloyd came out of his spinjitzu, pulled out his sword, and pointed it at the snake.
“It’s over Pythor! Surrender!”
“An anacondrai never surrenders!” Pythor refused. “But we do know how to make an exit!” With that, he became invisible, leaving Lloyd and his mother behind.
Dareth raced through the museum storage, looking for the only thing he could think of that might save him. “Come on, Helmet of Shadows! Where are you? You control the stone warriors!” Suddenly he spotted it lying on a box, and had almost reached it, when suddenly he smelled smoke. The stone warriors had started a fire! He ran screaming back out the way he came, leaving the helmet behind. He ran past smoking rooms toward the exit. He could hear the stone warriors chasing him, yelling in their native language. He finally burst out the front doors to hear sirens wailing through the night air.
“REVENGE!” Kozu shouted. Being made of stone, he could walk right through the flames.
“HELP!” Dareth cried. He could feel himself getting tired, and the stone warriors were catching up to him. Just when the foes were almost upon him, a large beam of light shone down from the sky. It was the Destiny’s Bounty. The anchor dropped down in front of Dareth, and he jumped onto it and held on for dear life as he was lifted up away from danger.
Cole moved on through the rooms until he found the door to the entrance hall. He sped up, heartened that escape was so near.
Suddenly Yang appeared out of nowhere in his path.  “I’m impressed,” he said.  “You’ve shown great abilities, but I’m afraid they won’t get you out.”
“Oh yeah? I beat three of your students pretty darn easily!”
“Can you take on all six?” Yang asked as all six students approached Cole from all sides.
Cole fought hard, and seemed to be winning, when all six students disappeared. “What? Where- oof!” Unable to see the students, he was overwhelmed. Once again, he found himself in shackles.
“I want him in the basement under heavy guard,” Sensei Yang instructed. And so Cole was led off once again, now unsure if he would ever get out.

BIOGRAPHY
The Valkyrie clan originated in a small village in ancient Scandinavian territory. The village was self sustaining; housing farms, woodcutters, and blacksmiths. While they could easily live on their own, most traveled to the city to sell their goods and earn some extra coin for the town. This opened the threat of robbers, thieves, and surprisingly, supernaturals. Demons and goblins who lurk inside and around the city often terrorized the villagers. After a wide-scale attack on villages by vampires, most hired retired or local soldiers and hunters to protect their homes, thus creating the “supernatural hunter” job. The village hired the Valkyries, old soldiers and supernatural hunters to protect the villagers of the monstrous threats.
The Valkyries were said to be descendants of wolves, gracing them with tactics and natural skills for hunting both food and monsters. While the mother and father were both werewolves, this allowed for them to be disguised in the village. No one questioned when the wolves would come fight off demons in the night, and the villagers actually worshiped these canine guardians. The villagers also did not question how the Valkyrie couple did not age and took it as a gift from the gods (or the couple was a title which the family replaced someone to serve the role regularly) to protect them.
Elisabeth (Elsa) was born in the middle of the Valkyrie line, a few minutes after her twin, Edmund. They were raised with the idea the family solely hunted for food and happened to protect villages outside the village limits on random occasions. They were not told of their werewolf nature until they reached their late teens in order to protect their reputation in the village. Their parents did not allow them to turn until they were much older due to the slow aging process.
When they became of age, Ed and Elsa became supernatural hunters with their parents and older siblings. They were the only children to remain in the village and protect their home. They enjoyed the simple life as opposed to their older brothers, who left immediately for the city. When they had less work, the twins settled down to a normal village life.
Elsa married another hunter in the city, a man named Peter Solberg. Together they helped the village hunt local wildlife, typically rabbit, elk, and deer. Elsa did her best to keep her supernatural hunting a secret, wishing for Peter to remain ignorant about the monstrous threat. She regularly joined Ed when needed, and the two served as a team of bounty hunters for neighboring villages as well. Elsa trained just as hard as her brother, becoming skilled with a bow and a dagger while Ed favored swords and guns. Elsa was also a great negotiator, convincing other supernaturals to work with them before their demise.
When Elsa was 20 she had her first child; a boy named Roland. She was immediately attached the boy and spent every moment she was not working with him. She gave up game hunting and focused solely on supernatural in order to alternate work shifts with Peter. At this point the twins offered to have Peter help fight supernaturals with them.
Peter died about four year into hunting with the twins, while Elsa was pregnant with their second child. This led to their parents suggesting becoming werewolves sooner rather than later as their tradition followed. Ed turned right away, Elsa waiting until her second child was old enough and not disrupt their life by turning. She stopped hunting during her pregnancy to assist in the healing process from becoming a widow. Ed assisted his sister and moved into her home, and he aided raising her children. While she loved her husband, she enjoyed living closer to her twin once more. She had a daughter who she named Ramona.
While out hunting, Elsa and Ed ran into a new race: vampires.  Having little experience with them, they tried their best to eliminate them. Yet their tactics only work on demons and goblins, and they could not kill the vampires as easily. Before the vampire made his escape, Elsa was attacked and bitten. As the poison slowly seeped into her veins, they ran to their parents for help. The Valkyries encountered vampires long before the twins were born, and they knew exactly what their daughter was becoming. They told Ed to kill his twin for the safety of the village and their own lives. Instead, Ed did not believe his sister would become a monster and took her home.
Moments after leaving their parents’ cottage in the woods, the poison was in full force and Elsa turned into a vampire. Expecting her brother to have kindness in the event, she was shocked when Ed turned against her. He knew the legends of vampires, as all in the village did. He was ready to take the vampire down despite the vampire was his beloved twin sister moments ago. She had no chance to show him she was dangerous before he was attacking her. Elsa fled, hiding out in the forest surrounding the city.
After a few days of wandering, Elsa found the local vampire coven that turned her. She followed after a woman named Sofia Báthory, a woman from the east who was said to be the queen of all vampires.  Elsa trained under the queen with intention to gain control and return home over joining them. After a year she returned to her old home but was not met with welcomed arms. Ed did everything he could to keep Elsa out, claiming he was only protecting his niece and nephew. Since Elsa wanted her children back, Ed developed the idea that she manipulated or harmed them already. He killed baby Ramona before her eyes, insisting she must have been born a vampire. While he tried to kill Roland as well, Elsa, who was now heartbroken, fled. She would eventually learn that Ed accidentally turned Roland into a werewolf instead of killing him.
Over the next century, Elsa visited her son regularly in the middle of the night. While she watched him age slowly, she wanted to remain present in his life. While she had every chance to kidnap him, she knew he needed her twin to train him. By the turn of the century, Ed was planning to move away from the village, perhaps to a new land altogether. He caught Elsa visiting one night and immediately left with Roland. Elsa did her best to track them, but Ed ran far. Elsa remained full time with the vampire coven, more heartbroken than before. The aided the coven by hunting any supernaturals that crossed them, especially werewolves. While she was a werewolf by birth, she resented the kind for isolating her the moment she needed them.
When talk of the new English colonies reached their ears, the Queen Báthory knew they needed to move west. The coven grew over the last century to fit into a city, so it was time to move on. Sofia offered Elsa a portion of the coven and told her the plan. Her birth name was not Sofia Báthory, but it served as a title for their pack. She wanted Elsa to take on the name as well and serve as queen for her coven, representing the Vampire Queen’s coven in the new land. Without something to hold her back, Elsa accepted and moved to the colonies in time for the Revolutionary War.
Now calling herself Sophia Batori, she met a local to help the coven move and adjust, Zachariah Carswell. The coven joined an order which trained fledgling to secretly fight in the war. It was a fascinating task which Sophia put a great deal of effort into. Sophia’s influence spilled over, allowing her to gain control of yet another army of vampires. She enjoyed the fame and leadership more than she probably should have. She seemed to be finding the life she truly desired.
Around 1830 Sophia moved her coven west, spreading out her influences the best she could. They settled in the up-and-coming city of Chicago, serving as one of the first supernatural clans to settle in the area. One night when she felt low from the memories of her past, she met an angel named Samuel Lugh. He took her in and helped her cope, and in time they fell in love. Together the two of them influenced the development of the Court of Miracles, and naturally stretched her powers as far as they could go. She instantly took a position in the Court’s High Council, wanting to rise to the top and rule over more than the vampires. She saw the city and the council as her new child and did all she could to help it grow. As time went on, Sophia put her influences where ever she could. They helped build up the city, gathered armies to fight in the Civil War, and saw further developments in the Court of Miracles.
By the turn of the century, the vampires were a powerful race. They were wealthy due to the ability to rob their food source. Their powers of protection exceeded everyone’s expectations. Sophia continued to have her own army of fledgling; those willing to sacrifice themselves to protect the Court. The local werewolf pack, who refused to join the Court, was under her rule as well. Her men hunted humans who stalked the supernatural community while she led an elite team to hunt supernaturals on the side. It was through this service Sophia’s life took another drastic turn when a new pack moved to Chicago. Edmund’s pack.
Under the new alias and modernized look, Edmund had no idea the vampire queen was his twin sister. And she wanted to keep it that way. She planned a revenge plot against her brother, refusing to see him succeed while he lived in Chicago. However, Edmund had his own plan up his sleeve. Never trusting vampires from the start, Edmund and his pack exposed Sophia for enslaving the werewolves, hunting other supernaturals, and continuously killing humans for blood. The High Council responded by stripping Sophia of her authority and control over the Court’s defenses and appointed Edmund in her place.
Livid from the setback, Sophia stopped at nothing to take Edmund down. Her plan morphed into something more sinister and personal with the birth of his daughter, who he also named Ramona. Sophia’s primary goal became killing Edmund’s children, especially the daughter. An eye for an eye in her mind. Without her previous resources, Sophia took time building up a plan and attack. She waited until the girl was old enough before she made her move, which resulted in killing one of the boys instead. While it was not the original plan, it caused Edmund and his wife to leave the city. The battle was now between Sophia and his eldest son, Ryder.
Sophia spent years fighting against Ryder, neither one aware they were directly related to each other.  In time Sophia learned the truth about Ryder, but was threatened by Edmund to never expose the truth. Sophia slowly built her plan around the youngest daughter once more; if anything, she would be satisfied with that kill. The case against her was once again brought forth to the council, this time clearly obvious she intended to take out the Valkyrie family. The council turned against her once more, and Samuel banned Sophia from the city. In her anger she had one final attack; kill Ryder’s baby mama and her ex servant as well as kidnap her two grandsons. When the plan backfired, she allowed Ryder to win by faking her own death. Without the queen caring over the coven, vampires ran wild through the city. The  Court of Miracles and a larger portion of Chicago was destroyed, causing any survivors to flee west.
Sophia stayed low for many years. She had no interest in bothering her brother or his family, at least not after losing her city, coven, and the love of her life. About a century passed before she was found and began socializing once more with a small coven of older vampires. It was through them she learned about a talented vampire; a witch by birth who continued to have full control of her powers even in death. Sophia wanted this power for her own, aiming to use the girl as a new front for the vampire queen role. After learning of the downfall of the Valkyries, she was more inclined to move to Crescent City. Now that her son is gone, she wants to protect her grandchildren despite knowing it would be an unwanted relationship.
RELATIONSHIPS
Parents: She was raised by both mother and father, who were a team of hunters and werewolves. She grew up very close to her father and trained under him in the family business. She lost contact with her father long ago.  Siblings: She has three older brothers, two younger brothers, and a sister. She was not particularly close to any of them and lost contact with most of them when she became of age. Occasionally an older brother would return for a hunting mission if needed, but they would be on their way and not contact them. She does not know what has become of any of them now. The sibling who she was closest to was her twin brother, Edmund. The two remained in their home village and took on hunting jobs. She blames him for not protecting her and leading her to become a vampire due to the hatred he felt for her afterwards.  Despite being his twin sister, Edmund could only see her as a dangerous vampire who had to be taken down. She sought revenge on all wolves, especially her family, for her brother making attempts on her life and kidnapping and killing her children for becoming a vampire. She received her revenge by attempting to kill his wife and daughter many years later but ultimately killed one of his sons. He hunted after her for years and destroyed her coven and position in the Court of Miracles in Chicago during the 1990′s. She prefers to hide from him now and has one neutral contact with him after Ryder’s death.  Children: She had two children before her death; Roland and Ramona. She was close to both children, Ryder a bit more due to his older age. She did all she could to love and protect them despite her job and losing their father. She died when Roland was about 5, Ramona 1. When she returned home a year or so later for her children, Edmund fought back and killed Ramona while turning Roland into a werewolf. For decades she remained close by, keeping tabs on her son and visiting him in the middle of the night. At one point during the early 1600′s, Edmund caught on and hid the boy, which caused her to lose him for good. She met her son later, but was unaware it was the same boy. She kept up the front of Sophia Batori and became Ryder’s enemy for a majority of their time in Chicago. When she learned the truth, Edmund made her swear never to tell the news, for not even his wife knew the truth. Being a woman of her word, and believing Edmund would try to kill the boy, she never told him. Now she regrets it after he passed and is mortified for her behavior towards him. She has three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren from Ryder’s line.  Friends: The only friend she is still in contact with is Vivian Bellamy-Boyle. Neutral affiliates are Sadie Taylor, Owen Cole, Nora Cade, Lucas Weston, and Roxanne Cade-Ryker.  Clan/Coven: Previous vampire coven leader. Although she still holds the title of queen, most of this coven does not know she is in town or alive. She is slowly telling who she chooses she is around.  Love Interests: While she was a human, she was in love and married to a man named Peter Solberg. He died on a hunting mission while the children were young. Still heartbroken from the loss, it took her many centuries to replace him. In the town of what would soon become Chicago, she met Samuel Lugh, an angel walking on Earth. While it took time to open up to him, she became reliant on his company and care. She helped him build Chicago and the Court of Miracles while their friendship grew. He quickly fell in love with her, and in time she loved him as well. He was the only one she fully opened up to before the Valkyries returned into her life. She tried dealing with her past on her own, which got her in trouble and drove the two apart. She lost him for good during the downfall of the Court of Miracles, when she would stop at nothing to see her brother fall. She regrets how she treated Samuel and longs for him back. She is still single to this day.  Enemies: Her greatest enemy is her twin brother, Edmund. She also dubs the Valkyrie line and all werewolves her enemy.  Time Mostly Spent With: Herself, Vivian. View of Others:  Sophia often asks as though she is higher than many of the people around her. At times, she may be. She is not as polite and welcoming as one would expect of a Council leader. View on Self: Although Sophia may act as if she is very focused on herself, she has many internal struggles and pains from her past. She is not always proud of herself. Viewed by Others: Most people do not favor or trust Sophia for good reason. Many refuse to give her the chance to show she is capable of kindness, be it due to her actions or her vampire nature. Hero: None.
EXTRA
Physical Abilities: She has above average strength, tracking, and speed, which comes with the vampirism. Mental Abilities: She is capable of learning new skills faster than the average human. Magical Abilities: Aside from an immortal life, she has the ability to heal quickly. Special Talents: None, other than being a raging bitch. Headcanons: Train Raylin to take over the coven, since that bitch is freaking gifted.             -Try to get closer to Logan, Landon, and Rylie.
