Hii I just wanted to say always love hearing you talk about books!
As much as I love reading the biggest downside for me compared to fanfic is that there aren't any people immediately available to talk about a story with. I love that most often I am actually able to tell the author how much I loved their writing and seeing everyone in the comments express what they thought and felt is something I am so so grateful for!
But after I finish book that I have opinions on, whether I am freaking out over how great it was or if it made me once again question the publishing house that allowed it to go into print I am just like?? What am I supposed to do with myself now? most like i stare at a blank wall for about an hour to process and then try to move on with my day, it just not the same as being able to hear other peoples opinions on it. So, if you have any more book recs or just book thoughts please share them, it's really entertaining to read!
I hope you have/ had a good day :)
Ahhhh Archer you are such a good lil egg!! I I love talking books with other people too!! It drives me nuts because some of my faves are so niche and no one else I know has read them, because very few other people share my tastes.😭
I'm curious what your fave books are?? It's so hard to make recommendations without knowing your faves because I think book recs should be personalized to the recommendee's preferences. I would never rec my faves to the vast majority of readers, because they don't really appeal to the majority of people!!
But I guess that being said my all-time fave book as everyone already has heard me say ten million times is The Goblin Emperor, and I almost died of happiness when my beloved @acerathia read it too and I got to chat about it hehehe.
People are shocked when they learn this, because I am a silly idiot romance author and this book is very much not that. It's a meticulously-planned hurt/comfort fantasy of manners that is heavily character-driven. But to me, it is perfection. It is the pinnacle of literary achievement. It is so contemplative and explores the unique grief of losing people who were cruel or indifferent to you, about being kind in a world that makes it extremely hard to be, and about finding/making your own family in the face of social norms that would isolate you!! I just like how it gives you space to learn and process things with the MC, and how by the end of it you feel like you've grown as much as he has!! It's so earnest and hopeful and good and makes me want to rip apart a phone book with my bare hands!!!!
Another fave I semi-recently read is Winter's Orbit, which I think I have talked about on here too. It's another hurt/comfort-y found family narrative, only this time with real romance and space gays!!! The author actually first published this novel as an orig fic on ao3, and I think you can tell that by how much they seem to love and respect the tropes they employ. We get a little bit of the classic sunshine/raincloud dynamic with the two MCs, but the author does some absolutely fantastic character work and turns that right on its head, fully fleshing out both characters' buried personality traits, insecurities, and personal histories so that you end up with these two absolutely lovely good people who your heart totally aches for. It very much reads like an ao3 fic in the absolute best way, but polished and shined to perfection.
Another fave that I always blab about is the Pink Carnation series. This one is exactly what you would expect from me. It's silly idiot regency romance shenanigans, with several scoops of academia and historical espionage!! I think the author does such a good job at balancing the silliness of a fun romance with the intrigue of an actual historical thriller, and the characters are hilarious. This is the sort of thing I'm talking about with MCs who have major side character energy, as our first novel's protag Amy is good-hearted and smart enough in specific ways, but she is also unfailingly a horrible detective with a very limited perspective determined to be something she's not, and it also gets her into tons of sexy fun trouble.
So yeah!! If I had to blab about anything and rec things without knowing your specific tastes, it would be my holy trinity lmfao. But tell me more about ur faves, I wanna know!!!!

Tom's nostrils flared and his glare remained fixed on the wall ahead. He was not an aggressive man but at that moment, he shook in anger. He had never felt so angry at a supposedly throwaway comment and the manner in which he reacted shocked everyone around him.
'Tom?’ He turned slightly to see Alexianna in his peripheral vision. ‘Are you okay?’
He knew it was a rhetorical question, he knew he looked almost like a man possessed. 'Where….where's Lily?’
'Daniel has her at the moment.’
'He came early.’
'Anna got extra time off work, they decided to come down a few days more so we could all spend some time together apparently. They're thinking of staying in the Premier Inn in Archway.’
'Why not yours?’ He toyed with his hands.
‘Because they don't want to intrude too much. My place isn't big enough for four adults and a child.’ She said nothing more for a moment. 'Do you want to talk about it?’
'Did Luke call you?’ Tom ignored her question.
'He did.’ She admitted. 'Talk to me, Tom.’
'How dare she say that.’
'Tom, don't let her annoy you any further.’ Alexianna put her hand on his comfortingly. 'I know it hurts and I know it is completely and utterly wrong, so don't let it fester anymore.’ She beseeched.
Tom sighed and rubbed his hands over his face.
*
It was an interview, nothing mad, he had done them a thousand times before. This one was on a BBC programme, it was in reference to several topics, one of which being how UNICEF use celebrities to get people to listen to the plight of others. Tom had done work with the organisation in Sudan and was available to interview along with two others involved with the group, Martin Sheen and Ewan McGregor. The interviewer made a comment regarding seeing these tragic events in different countries and how they affect the most vulnerable, especially children and how they played on the thoughts of Sheen and McGregor as fathers. That in itself, though slightly hurtful to Tom, he did not comment on, but when the interviewer specifically dismissed Tom when Ewan had answered on his personal take on it and looked to both other men for their reactions, Tom nodding in agreement and the interviewer stated “Well, this is not really something Tom can understand fully, he is not a father” that things went downhill.
Tom first very diplomatically stated that though he did not father a child personally, he had a niece he adored and was the father figure to another little girl. Which both men and the second female interviewer nodded to. But the first interviewer did not stop there, she, without a moment's hesitation added: “Well, that's not really the same, is it?”. Her fellow interviewer looked at her appalled, as did the other two men but Tom saw red. He honestly was shocked into silence for a few moments.
'Now, hang on a second here.’ McGregor was the first to find his voice. 'Not all families are cookie cutter design. Tom said that he is that wee girl's father figure, so he does know the feeling. He does not have to be her biological father to be her father.’
'But she had a real father surely.’ The interviewer retorted.
'That's no one's business but theirs. Some kids don't have the biological parents around and that is no one's business. If she sees Tom and him alone as her Dad, then that is it, end of discussion. Stepfathers are just as much fathers when they are the ones doing the heavy lifting.’ Ewan declared.
Tom finally found his voice again. He knew Luke would be livid but he could not remain silent. 'I am the man she calls her Dad. I am there to clean up when she has a stomach bug, when she has a nighttime accident and when she has tantrums, like every other four-year-old. I collect her from school, read her stories and I can name every Paw Patrol character. I may not have given her half her genes but I am her father in everything but that. Having come from a home with separated parents myself, I understand the value of a good and present father figure and never would I have thought, in 2018, that there would be such prejudice against a family situation that does not fit within the restricting confines of one particular person's definition of a family unit. Families are not always mother, father and two kids, it is often dictated by outside circumstances that prevent such a unit existing for whatever reason; death, abuse, whatever reason and to dismiss a non-biological parent as being incapable of understanding the parental bond with a child is utter rubbish and entirely offensive, both to the child and the adult involved.’ as he spoke, Tom's anger grew in intensity.
'Here here.’ Sheen commented beside him, McGregor nodding in his seat.
'Many of the children I met in Sudan are without one or both biological parents. Many of them are in the care of relatives or in some cases, they are orphaned entirely. War and famine tend to cause such situations. They are crying for their parents, they are scared and often weak and you do not need to be a biological parent to feel empathy and heartache for them, such is not a requirement but to put a personal perspective on such situations is entirely natural. I have gone there again since having my life as it is at present and yes, on a personal level, I project my situation into it, as everyone does and it made it even more harrowing. It is a natural human process. We do it all the time in any situation. These children are what we should be focusing on, not backhanded snipes at someone for no reason other than to attack non-conformist families.’
The interviewer became the one to be silenced. She scowled at Tom who held her gaze with a glare of his own. His anger growing as she tried to get him to back down.
'Now that Tom has put that matter to rest with an eloquence and decorum I would not have been able to maintain, can we get back to the matter at hand?’ Sheen asked.
The interview continued after that but there was a tense atmosphere throughout. The second and inoffensive interviewer did most of the talking and all three men were wary of anything that the first asked.
When it was done walked off the set to see Luke looking at him with equal parts concern and anger. 'I stayed polite.’ He stated.
'I could see that it was a struggle for you.’ Luke acknowledged. 'It doesn't make it any less damaging.’
'Standing up for my personal life should not have to be seen as a potential risk. I am not racist or bigoted so why should I have to worry about what other people think of my home life?’
'Because you are a public figure and as such, in the minds of the many, you are public property.’ Luke explained. 'Look, Tom, I get it, I do. In your life, Lily is your little girl and any attack on that relationship is an attack on you and her but this was not the time for this.’
Tom was about to respond when one of the BBC representatives came over. 'Mr Hiddleston, I am so incredibly sorry for the personal attack on your personal life in that segment by one of our employees. The company does not share the views of Ms Davies.’
'It's fine. Honestly, I would never have made such a correlation. Mrs Thompson clearly did not share such views either, I understand that on occasion emotions come to the fore, as they did for myself and I must apologise also for taking the focus off the cause that I came here to support.’
'Not at all, you have every right to defend yourself and your family.’ The man stated. 'Ms Davies will be subject to reprimand for her actions. The BBC is an inclusive company and though there are some areas that require some updating, we are insistent that we will not tolerate such actions.’
'Please, I don't want a big deal made out of this.’ Tom requested. 'But thank you for taking the time to speak with me, I appreciate it.’
'Of course. Thank you, Mr Hiddleston.’ the man shook his hand again before leaving.
'So, what are people saying?’ Tom asked Luke.
'Honestly, I am half scared to look.’ the publicist responded.
*
Luke called Alexianna immediately after the situation and informed her. She had been due to go to a lecture but for once, she felt she was needed elsewhere and got a taxi to the BBC to help placate the irate Tom.
After a few minutes, she realised what he really needed and messaged her brother, who rang back, Lily on his lap.
'Daddy?’
'Yes, Princess?’ He turned to see Lily on the phone, Baloo in her hands. 'Lily?’
'Why are you sad, Daddy?’
'I am not sad, Love.’
'Are you angry?’
Tom looked at her with incredible guilt. Lily had sensed his upset even through the device and seeing how the other adults were with Tom, especially her mother, she was trying to make sense of the situation. 'No, Princess. I am not angry, not really.’
'What happened? Did you not get a prize? I get sad when someone else gets a prize in school and I don't.’
Tom wanted nothing more than to pull her to him and onto his lap. 'No Lily, it's not that.’
'Do you want Baloo? You can have him if you want, for a while. I need him for bed. But if you are really sad you can have him tonight.’
Tom felt his gut clench at her kindness. Every time he thought it was impossible to love her more, Lily proved him wrong. 'To be honest, Lily. I need you more than I need Baloo.’ He confessed.
Confused but seeing his upset, Lily simply kissed the phone. 'I want to cuddle you too, Daddy.’
'Lil's?’ She looked at her mother. 'A lady said something to Tom today and it hurt his feelings.’
Tom looked at Alexianna, shocked she was admitting this to her daughter.
'She said that he cannot understand what it is like to be a dad because he is not one.’
'Yes, he is.’ Lily declared angrily. 'He's my Daddy.’ She looked at Tom, her indignation clear. 'She is just a silly poo poo bum head.’ She stated factually. 'Tom is my daddy. He loves me and I love him and that lady is stupid.’
'The boss has spoken.’ Daniel chuckled.
Tom felt himself fill with pride at Lily's words. Any doubt he had as a result of the interviewer and her statements were quelled by Lily's declaration.
'You told her that, didn't you, Daddy?’
'I told her that I was your dad and that being your dad means more than just making you.’ He admitted.
'You want to be my daddy, that makes you extra special.’ She beamed. Tom looked to Alexianna, who gave him a look of “I told you so” with her smile. 'Are you coming over for dinner?’
Tom looked at Alexianna, who gave a look of “up to you” before looking at the phone and the hopeful look on Lily's face. 'Yes, I'll just finish here and Mummy and I will come home soon and we can have dinner with Uncle Daniel and Anna then.’
There was an elated cheer from the phone before “I love you” and “goodbye”.
Tom looked at Alexianna. 'Thank you.’
'You needed to hear it from her, not me.’
'You missed your lectures for me.’
'You have been there for me when I needed it, what sort of partner would I be if I was not there for you?’

A Midgardian’s Love - One
Summary: During his search for his father, Loki stumbled upon you in New York. Ever since your meeting, he wasn’t able to get you out of your mind. Who knew how hard he could fall for a mortal?
Words: 1315
Pairing: Loki x Reader
Tumblr media
Warnings: None
Y/N: This will be a lil ficlet based on this gifset and a conversation between @the-lokis-queen and me... There will be 3 parts to this (With some Smut later on). Please leave me some feedback!
Taglist?
Your two best friends decided to surprise you with a trip to New York for your birthday. What they wouldn't tell you but you knew anyway was that they wanted to try and find a chance to eventually see Thor. It was obnoxious of them to even think he would be anywhere around here. But what could it hurt to take this trip either way?
“What if we so happen to meet Thor out here?” Sierra asked as the three of you walked through the streets. There was it. Apparently, they didn't plan on keeping their intentions a secret.
“He's long gone. Don't be silly,” you scoffed, scanning the windows of several shops as you walked.
“Don't ruin my dreams!” she acted offended, punching you in the arm before Kayla had grabbed both of your arms, pulling you to a stop.
“Oh god, hold on. Look to your right!” she whispered while all your heads turned, spotting a blonde, tall and muscular man as well as a raven-haired, slightly shorter man. Did this really have to happen?
“No way,” Sierra breathed, not believing her eyes, “I told you we would meet him!”
“Please, I bet it's some imposter. Let's just keep moving,” you tried to stop them from walking over but to no effort.
“No way. I'm not passing this opportunity!” within seconds Sierra walked over to the two men.
“Sorry, aren't you Thor?” she asked, gaining both men’s attention while the raven-haired one already rolled his eyes.
“Not again,” he muttered, already becoming sympathetic to you while both Kayla and Sierra threw themselves at Thor.
“You're embarrassing me,” you muttered, trying to stay as far away from them as possible. In all honesty, you didn't understand the hype around Thor at all.
“Well, it's pleasant to know not everyone is thirsting after my brother,” a low voice said, making you look up.
The dark haired man who had been with Thor made his way over to you, a small grin on his face.
“Uh, yeah. Not really my type. It's embarrassing enough they do that,” you shrugged it off with a small smile. Thor's brother… His rather handsome, and much more your type, brother.
“Pardon my manners, I am Loki, God of Mischief. Who do I have the pleasure with?” he held his hand out to you.
“Y/N, Goddess of Clumsiness and bad decisions,” you held back a laugh at your own joke, accepting his hand before he brought yours up to kiss it. What a way to win over your heart.
“Are you making fun of me?” Loki quirked a brow, looking up at you as he still kept your hand in his a little longer.
“Oh, I would never make fun of a god,” you grinned at him before you could see Sierra, Kayla, and Thor approach you from the corner of your eye.
“We're good to go, Y/N,” Sierra said, dragging your attention from Loki to her. She was eyeing you with a glance that told you she was keeping something from you.
“What is it?” You asked, furrowing your brows together, almost unaware that you were still holding onto Loki's hand.
“Well, this is Thor's brother… Loki. Thor told us that he is no good and you should rather stay away from him,” she tried to say quietly but Loki still heard her. He let go of your hand, only now making you realize you were holding it the whole time.
“Really brother?” Loki asked, wanting to say more but he was interrupted by you.
“Well, I don't care what Thor says. I'm not one to judge a person from what I hear. Besides, Loki seems like a rather nice person from what I can tell,” you shrugged, earning a scoff from Thor. But what you didn't see was that Loki's eyes were now locked on you, looking at you with something like adoration.
“It was nice meeting you, Loki,” you finally turned to him, giving him a soft smile.
“The pleasure was all mine. I dearly hope to see you again,” he replied, bowing before you.
You returned with a small nod before you finally joined your friends to continue your way through New York.
“Honestly though, I don't think Loki is any good news,” Kayla said when you were surely out of earshot from the two men.
“Let that be my problem. Besides, it's not like I'm ever seeing him again, either way,” you shrugged it off, finally seeing a store that seemed interesting to you.
~~~
“Really brother? I'm for once not thinking about stabbing someone and you are trying to ruin it?” Loki asked once the girls had been gone.
“You've had a problem with me falling for a Midgardian but now you're here, falling for one yourself?” Thor scoffed, looking at his brother.
“That is an entirely different situation! Besides, I'm not falling for her, I was just having a conversation!” The raven-haired man snapped at his brother.
“Of course not. Don't forget what we're here for,” the blonde warned him, reminding them of their mission to find their father.
“How could I ever forget?” muttered Loki.
Though truly, his mind was still with the Y/H/C lady, Y/N. She was different than any other Midgardian or any person in general. Usually, anyone would back away from him, avoid him as much as possible. Anyone would listen to his brother rather than listen to Loki.
But her? She didn't give a damn. She was giving him a chance. And for some reason, it sent some strange and warm feeling through Loki's chest. It was something he hasn't recognized.
And while Loki told himself she was just another fragile mortal, he caught himself thinking about her, wishing to return to earth to get to know her some more.
She was more intriguing than any woman had ever been.
He had to return to earth. But first, he had to save Asgard.
~~~
“Are you sure you don't want to come with us?” Sierra asked as she grabbed her bag and put on her heels.
“I'll be fine, just go. Have some fun,” you told her, waving both of your friends off.
You hadn't felt like going out to drink. No, as soon as the girls were out of the door, you dragged out your laptop and opening the search engine.
“Loki, God of Mischief,” you murmured as you typed down the words and pressed the search button.
A few mythology pages popped up, informing over general facts and what was believed about him.
But as you delved a little further, you found articles about Loki. Your Loki. But those articles weren't any nice ones. No, they were about him destroying a city, hurting and even killing several people.
Yet something inside you still felt like there was something unspoken about Loki. Something all those people that warned about him didn't know. And you were more than intrigued to get to know him. To get to know what made him do this.
But you couldn't. You most likely would never see him again. What was he doing on earth either way? Why did you have to cross paths?
It didn't help you when Sierra and Kayla both started swooning about Thor and how nice he was towards them. They wouldn't stop talking while your mind stayed busied with Loki.
“Loki Odinson,” you sighed, shutting your laptop, pushing it to the side before letting yourself drop back into your bed.
For a week you had managed to busy yourself from any thoughts of him. But now? You just couldn't stop anymore. Should you have asked him for a number? Wait, he was a god from another world. He wouldn't have a phone.
How did Jane ever stay in contact with Thor?
With a groan you turned in bed, burying your face in the pillow.

Hello! May I please request a scenario of Aoyama teaching reader how to waltz? Thank you!
Okay this was a really cute request, I just hope I wrote Aoyama correctly. As much as I loved my underrated children, he is a hard one to grasp cause, on one hand, he’s got a bit of an ego and is super outgoing, but on the other hand, he’s just an insecure lil baby who needs reassurance.
You let out a groan of defeat, your head hitting the table you sat at. The other 6 girls around you looked at you in worry.
“(Y/N)-chan, what’s wrong?” Uraraka asked, poking your shoulder lightly.
“This.” You answered back, your voice muffled due to the table. Your phone was slid over to the middle of the table where everyone huddled over it to read the messages.
“You’re going…” Jirou muttered, “to a family ball?” You nodded to her statement, your head still connected to the table.
“What’s so bad about that though?” Uraraka thought out loud.
Bolting up form your hunched position, you slapped the table with enough force to shake it and everything on it, even knocking off a textbook. “Everything!” You exclaimed. “This is a ball from my dad’s side of the family! I’ve barely talked with them, much less seen them! So I have no idea how to interact with them or the rich and very important and powerful people they’re inviting! Once they find out that my dad hasn’t taught me anything about being a “rich” and “sophisticated” family, they’ll disown him!”
You slumped onto the table once again, giving into defeat. “But (Y/N)-chan, isn’t your family already pretty rich?” Mina asked innocently.
Forcing yourself up, you nodded. “Yeah, but after meeting my mom, my dad’s never seen the need for all the manners and stuff.”
“So you have the money, but not the mannerisms?” Tsuyu asked, holding her finger up to her lip.
“Yeah basically.”
“Well, I can teach you!” Momo exclaimed. You blinked at her in confusion.
“The hell does that mean?” You asked.
Momo sighed, but a small smile graced her lips nonetheless. Standing up from her seat across the table, she walked over to you. “For one, high-class families don’t slouch.” One of her hands locked itself on your shoulder and the other one pushed your lower back in, making your previously hunched shoulders now straight. “Keep your back straight and chin up high to show confidence and class.” She instructed.
You blinked up at her, finding her explanations detailed and sensible, two things you thought your father’s side of the family was the complete opposite of.
From that exact moment, Momo took you under her wing to show you the ins and outs of how rich families should act in public and in the presence of other equally and more powerful than them.
You learned how to walk, talk, eat, and sit as if you were a 5-year-old once again. Luckily you picked it up really quickly, whether that was form Momo’s clear explanations or because you were just that smart, you were sure, but your humbleness made you choose the former.
However, there was one thing that you could not learn to save your life. A dance so simple yet important that even a 3-year-old could do it. And that was the waltz. No matter how you did it or how Momo explained it, your feet just kept tumbling and tripping over each other. At one point you made you and Momo fall onto the floor.
You sighed in defeat, sitting down on the gym floor with shame. “Maybe it’s best if we take a break for today,” Momo said out loud.
You nodded in agreement. “Ugh, I don’t know Momo. I don’t think I’ll ever pick it up.”
Momo shook her head. “Don’t say that! You’ll learn it in no time. It’s just taking a bit for you to understand it. You just need to take a break.”
Not wanting to defend your deflating self-esteem, you just nodded at her words and let her leave the gym so you could wallow in your self pity. You sat there with your head in between your legs for god knows how long in silence until the sound of footsteps met your ears.
You let out a sigh. “I’ll come back to the dorms in a bit Momo.”
The person clicked their tongue. “Now, now ma Cherie!” A familiar voice chirped in.
Your head whipped up as fast as humanly possible, your cheeks heating up at the sight of Aoyama Yuuga, a boy you had become very close with the past couple months.
You stumbled up off of the ground and dust your legs off of dust that had stuck to your slightly sweaty legs. Looking back up, you gave the blond a shy smile.
“Hi Aoyama-kun! Wh-what are you doing here?” You asked, your voice cracking in embarrassment.
“Well, I wanted to see what you were doing of course!” Aoyama declared, pointing at you in exaggeration.
You could feel your cheeks heating up even further at his actions. “God, why does he have to be like this?!” You internally screamed, your muscles tightening.
You rubbed the back of your neck nervously. “Well, I’m not doing much as you can see.”
“Well, then why have you and Yao-momo been coming to this gym for the past week or so?” Aoyama further question, pulling out some evidence of your endeavors.
The floor suddenly became much more interesting than anything in the room. “I um… my family’s going to this important ball and I have to learn how to waltz, but I’m utterly failing.” You confessed shyly.
Aoyama hummed. “Well how about I try to teach you?” He proposed.
You glanced up at him. “What? Really? But even Momo can’t teach me-“
“Oh hush Ma Cherie! Sometimes a different teacher is all you need! Now come here.” Aoyama exclaimed, grabbing your hand he lead you to the center of the gym.
It seemed as if all air left your lungs and your heart stopped beating as he pulled you closer to him. Although you were only in a pair of running shorts and a loose t-shirt, the room felt very, very hot all of a sudden.
One of his hands clasped around your waist while the other held onto yours with a tight grip. Knowing where to put your free hand, you let yourself grab onto his shoulder with a shaky hand.
“There you go, Ma Cherie! It seems you already know the basics of dance!”
You couldn’t help the small giggle that escaped your lips at his exaggeration. But then, he suddenly began moving.
“W-wait!” You exclaimed, tumbling after him. However, the blond continued to move.
“Just move with me, Ma Cherie! Don’t think about it, just follow my steps.” He explained, not taking a second to stop.
Taking a deep breath, you followed his advice and followed his steps, your gaze never leaving his feet. After a couple minutes of tumbling and tripping, you were finally able to follow his moves.
“What a great job! Now, look up at me.” Aoyama said, startling you.
“Wh-what?!” You asked, looking up into his silly eyes.
He smiled down at you. “Look at you, following everything I say!”
You couldn’t help your cheeks from heating up in embarrassment at the very thought of how lewd that phrase could be, making you trip on your own two feet. Falling forward, you expected to meet the hardness of the floor. But you never did.
Instead, you hit a soft and warm mass. Blinking your eyes open, you realized that Aoyama had caught you without a second thought. His cheeks were tinged with pink and his mouth was slightly open as if he was about to tell you something before you fell.
Pushing off of him, you rubbed the back of your neck in embarrassment.
“I um…wow!” You muttered. “I’ve never been that good with Momo.” You explained shyly.
“Why of course! I do see myself as a waltz master.” Aoyama boasted. “It’s a dance perfect for a dazzling fellow like me.”
You chuckled. “Guess that’s why I couldn’t do it at first.” Aoyama tilted his head in confusion at your little joke. “Cause I’m not as dazzling or amazing as you.” You explained, making the blond blush.
He cleared his throat. “Well anyone can be as dazzling and a-amazing as me! All it takes is a good partner is all.”
Your fingers fidgeted with each other as you stood in silence, thoughts running through your mind.
“Um, you know… I don’t have anyone to go to the family ball with… so if you’re free next Saturday… do you want to go with me and be my partner?” You asked nervously.
“WHAT AM I DOING?” You yelled at yourself as you smiled at Aoyama without falter, waiting for his answer. “OF COURSE HE’S GOING TO SAY N-“
“I would be delighted.”
“Huh?” You blinked at him. Now it was your turn to be confused.
Aoyama smiled. “I said, I would be delighted. To go with you I mean.”

42 Reasons: Chadwick x OC: Chapter 3
Synopsis - Introduction- Chapter One - Chapter Two
Tumblr media
Keeping a dark secret was damaging. Holly appeared fine on the outside, while she struggled with guilt and shame on the inside. She never thought she would open up to anyone about what happened and she wasn’t too sure about opening up to Chadwick about it either.
“What’s going on,” Chadwick asked, sitting on a stool while Holly paced. “Hey, you can talk to me?” Stopping her in her tracks, Chadwick pulled his friend down to the stool next to him.
“It’s a lot and I don’t know if I can even tell you,” she replied, hanging her head. “I was in a real fucked up situation and a person that should have been fired was promoted instead. I’ve been blackmailed up until this point and the very person who was involved is skipping around set like he’s not the devil.”
“Wait, who,” Chadwick asked, trying to think of all the people he had encountered on set that day. No one outside of the regular people he saw came to mind.
Holly opened her mouth to speak only to quickly shut it before the tears threatened to fall. Once again, she had froze. When her own mother asked what had happened on her last job, the actress brushed it off as a tiny altercation.
“Who is it, Raye,” Chadwick pressed, now his brows pulling together in brewing anger. Whatever was going on with his friend, he knew it was hurting her. The hot tears trailing down her cheeks were a strong indication of hurt, betrayal and fear.
“I- Chad, I can’t,” she cried, shaking her head and pushing herself up from the stool. “I’m fine. I’ll be okay,” Holly shooed Chadwick out of trailer to avoid breaking down in front of him.
“I’m not leaving until you talk to me. You’re obviously upset and I can’t leave knowing that,” he had crossed the trailer and was now standing directly behind Holly, massaging her shoulders. Relaxing under her castmate’s touch, Holly wiped her tears.
“Honestly, I don’t want to talk about it. It’s silly,” she brushed off, wiping at her cheeks clearing away any remnant of tears. “I need to get over it because I can’t always get my way.”
“Holly,” Chadwick began before being cut off by Holly’s charming smile.
“I’ll be fine, Chad. Promise,” she attempted to make herself and Chadwick believe the lie and it was almost convincing.
Not wanting to push her too much, the Black Panther star nodded and pulled away, “Alright, I’ll leave you alone. Just know I’m worried about you and when I find out who you’re talking about-”
“Slow your roll, T’Challa. We don’t need to see anyone lose their head, I’m okay,” Holly lied, letting her hands fall to Chadwick’s slender fingers. When she noticed their laced hands, the actress pulled away and put distance between them.
Still not convinced, Chadwick backed away towards the door. When she was ready to talk, hopefully she trusted him enough to open up about the situation. Until then, he’d keep an eye on his friend, while also looking for the person who had clearly hurt Holly in the past.
When the trailer door clicked shut, Holly wrapped her arms around herself and sank down to the couch. Now a dark cloud hung over her world and those old feelings were slowly making a return. The one thing she could use to numb the pain wasn’t even within her reach this time. The liquid form of pleasure was calling her name and it was hard to ignore. For the first time in awhile, Holly would have to suffer because she didn’t want to ruin her new opportunity.
A few days went by without Ben Wiseman on set and Holly still seemed shook up by his appearance. The industry wasn’t that large and the actress was bound to run into her worst nightmare again. But, for a few years she was able to avoid him and somewhat heal.
The days and nights on set were long and exhausting but everyone had bonded so well, no one complained. When they weren’t on set, Holly and Chadwick were in fight training together.
“Ready for me to kick your ass today, Boseman,” Holly joked, pulling her thick curls back into a headband. “I’ll try to take it easy on you old man.”
Being called a old man wasn’t new for Chadwick and he always laughed it off. He looked young in the face but his mannerisms and a few of his ways screamed elder. “Oh, it’s like that, huh? This old man may have to show you a couple of things. Got a little muscle on those arms and you think you’re cute.”
Holly blushed and shook her head in response. Their trainer had just entered the room with his gym bag and mat in tow. “Wassup fam,” Tony Kenny, their personal battle trainer, greeted the pair. Chadwick had been training with him since Civil War and had became even more advanced in his fighting skills. The actor was smooth on his feet and didn’t move like the old man people called him. Thanks to Tony, Mr. Boseman was in the perfect shape when filming began.
“Hey Tony,” Holly replied, fist bumping the 6′2 and 195 pound fighter.
“Hey lil bit. Chadwick, she’s catching up with you in the arm department, bro,” Tony pointed out, while Holly flexed her muscles, teasing her castmate.
“Maaan! She ain’t working with nothing. Don’t blow her head up any bigger,” the actor teased, ruffling Holly’s curls and earning a slap to the arm.
“Such a hater,” she stuck her tongue out and began stretching to prepare for their lesson. “I worked on my round house kick and tried those stretches you gave us,” Holly said to their trainer.
“Cool, cool. I’ll check that out and let you know if you need to work on it some more. Deal?”
“Gotcha,” Holly responded, her spirits higher than they had been in the last couple of days. Being around Chadwick made her temporarily forget about the demons she was fighting.
Movie fight scenes were always harder than people realized. What people saw on screen was a combination of CGI, intense training, and a stunt double if stunts were too dangerous for the actors. But no one truly understood the hard work that went into action scenes except the people working behind the scenes or on set.
Chadwick and Holly trained with Tony on their free time in order to perfect their fighting styles and techniques. While some actors opted for stunt doubles, the acting pair attempted to do as many of their own stunts as possible. Training wasn’t easy all the time, but they enjoyed each other’s company and the challenge. Somehow they fit and working together brought a joy that Holly hadn’t felt in awhile.
“You afraid to slam me,” Holly joked, holding her hands up in defense mode. The actors circled each other slowly, Chadwick’s feet softly patting the mat mimicking a cat.
“Not at all,” he smirked, swiftly reaching out for his opponent as she ducked away. “Alright, that was luck.”
“That’s twice in two sessions, you think that’s luck,” Holly teased right before she was pinned down to the mat.
“You were saying,” the Black Panther star questioned, laughing obnoxiously at Holly’s surprised expression. “I’m the Panther, what did you think would happen?”
“I’ll give you that one,” the actress stated, picking herself up from the soft blue mat.
“You ready to go again,” Chadwick asked getting into stance.
Adjusting herself, Holly got back in position, “Bring it.”
After a long day of training, the actors returned to set to finish out their day before being dismissed at 3am. Holly hated when her days ended because it meant going home alone and being reminded of Ben Wiseman’s presence within the Marvel family. Chadwick decided to cook an early breakfast to avoid the few restaurants open within the early morning hours. They settled on Chadwick’s comfortable condo in downtown Atlanta.
“I’m starving so I hope you can cook or I’ll have to talk about you,” Holly Raye teased, sitting at the kitchen counter, while the actor prepared the early morning breakfast. “You usually cook for everyone?”
He moved around the kitchen, grabbing a mixing bowl, spoon and pancake mix from a cabinet. “Not much. Just for family...or girlfriends ,” he answered, peering up at Holly while he pulled out measuring cups and cinnamon, placing the items on the marble counter top.
The statement sent Holly’s stomach to her feet. When Chadwick liked you, he didn’t hide it. The way his eyes twinkled made butterflies form.
When Holly’s eyes finally fell to the counter, Chadwick continued taking out ingredients for his infamous waffles. An awkward silence formed between the two before Chadwick turned on music and began humming along to Raheem DeVaughn’s You. His costar continued watching from her seat, not taking her eyes off his bulging shoulders as he prepped the food. Or the way his lips pursed when he was in deep thought. His attentiveness when it came to the waffles was adorable. Holly kept watching until he startled her out of her daydream. “Can you get me that rice drink in there, Raye,” Chadwick asked, nodding towards the fridge. “Raye?” The sound of Chadwick repeating her name, made Holly jump to her feet and scurry over to the stainless steel fridge.
“Sorry, here you go,” she said, placing the carton on the side of the mixing bowl. “Need me to help with anything, Chef.”
“There’s turkey bacon in the fridge if you want to get started on that.”
“Wait, I thought you were-”
“I said for you, stop trying to call me out,” Chadwick laughed, shaking off the accusation Holly was trying to pin on him.
“Mmmmhhmm, I know you snack on this when no one is looking. It’s okay to admit it. More bacon for me,” Holly stuck out her tongue and danced as she opened the package. Humming to herself, the actress pushed passed her friend and to the stove. “That smells good. What are you mixing in that?”
“A bit of cinnamon and PB powder,” he replied, reaching over Holly’s head to grab another ingredient from the cabinet. As Chadwick reached up, his body accidentally bumped Holly’s, the roundness of her ass connecting with his hip. “Excuse me,” he breathed, praying she didn’t feel the excitement building behind the thick sweats. Everything seemed to be a domino effect because a startled Holly turned around, meeting him face to face. Great. Here fate was causing trouble once again.
With their faces inches from each other and in a compromising position, they were frozen in place. Chadwick’s brown eyes landed on Holly’s plump lips, the urge to feel them against his own growing stronger. Slowly, that wall that Holly had built around herself was crumbling away and she felt safe. Safe with an old friend she once had a deeper connection with until they lost touch.
The package of turkey bacon mysteriously ended up on the counter. Chadwick had removed it from Holly’s loose grip before the package ended up on the floor. His lips moved in closer and Holly sealed the deal by closing the space between them. Unlike their onscreen kisses, they didn’t have to hold back. While Raheem DaVaughn continued crooning in the background, the sexual tension between the two actors grew. Their lips connected...
We’ll stop there, but the next chapter will pick up from this point! The next one will be an emotional one.

**note: based on personal headcanons
Ignis + Iris [set in Dark Eos aswell ft. blind!Ignis bc im angst trash aslfdj;sl]
who is more likely to hurt the other? -neither, i think. not intentionally anyway. Ignis may justaccidentally bump into Iris once in a while.
who is emotionally stronger? -IGNIS, oh man… he’s been through A LOT and yet he’sstill able to handle his emotions very well.
who is physically stronger? -oh man, Iggy, no doubt.
who is more likely to break a bone? -Iris, only because of her fighting style.
who knows best what to say to upset the other? -fUCK UM. Ignis. probably. he’s good with words so if he everneeds to get a specific reaction from Iris (or ANYONE tbfh), he’d know exactlywhat to say.
who is most likely to apologise first after an argument? -Ignis is. he can’t stand the lingering anger between theparties. he’ll apologize first even if HE was right, and he’d insist theysettle it and talk it out more calmly, over tea or something.
who treats who’s wounds more often? -Iris, but faM UGH imagine Iggy doting HARD over an injured Iris andgetting so fuckig N UPSET because he CAN’T tend to her wounds properly. butGOD, Iris stops lying to Ignis about her wounds because of that. she’ll let himknow exactly what she’d sustained, where at, how big/severe; holds his hand andguides it over the spots she’d bandaged/treated to let him know it’s taken careof now. GUHSDFJf :’)
who is in constant need of comfort? -Iris forever and always, it looks like.
who gets more jealous? -YO LOOK IGNIS IS A WELL-MANNERED, HANDSOME, ANDGRACEFUL MOFO, DONT TELL ME PEOPLE DONT FAWN OVER HIM OFTEN??? iris sees theway a hunter looks at ignis and she’s SEETHING
who will propose? -Ignis, perhaps! he suggests the idea one evening, ever so casually, but also he’s so unsure of how she’d react. they’re both incredibly busy with the responsibilities they have but Iris always expresses her want to be beside him all the time, so, hey, why not go for it?
who has the most difficult parents? -MR. AND MRS. SCIENTIA WHO NOW???? WHERE ARE THE PARENTS AT TBFH
who initiates hand-holding when they’re out in public? -IRIS, and never because Iggy needs a guide (he doesn’t). sheloves his touch.
who comes up for the other all the time? who covers up for the other all the time? -Ignis has to lmfao. they both get into mild shenanigans (like sneaking off in the middle of nights to just explore and talk or something. and Gladio never believes Iris when she lies lol)
who hogs the blankets? -neither are rowdy sleepers.
who gets more sad? -SIGHS i’m?? :(((( Ignis, probably. he’s just INCREDIBLE at keeping it to himself.
who is better at cheering the other up? -LIKE I SAID Ig is GREAT with words, he’ll have Iris smiling in no time.
who’s the one that playfully slaps the other all the time afterthey make silly jokes? -Iris!!
who is more streetwise? -Iris, compared to Ig who practically grew up in the Citadel serving the royal family.
who is more wise? -Ignis
who’s the shyest? -HMMM… neither seem like the shy type. Ig may just be a lil bit more reserved about showing affection to the other because Iris is just STARVING for affection, which is why she’s so touchy and is prone to invading personal spaces a lot.
who boasts about the other more? -OH MAnn, Ignis telling everyone how badass Iris sounded on the battlefield and how proud he is of her and her strength and determination. Iris would be too, tbh, but in a “He’s SO fantastic amirite?? I’M so lucky to BE WITH HIM’ kind of way omg
who sits on who’s lap? - Iris but aaaa she loves being a little spoon for him tho
