Some unsorted (initial, I guess) retrospective thoughts on The Magician Who Loved a Fake.

First of all, Magician revisits a lot of themes and plot elements from Ashiyama’s two older doujins, Imaginative Power of Meiji ✕✕ (Reimu’s youth and struggle with her role) and especially Koushin Night (Marisa’s relationship with her dad, and even the part where she makes medicine for him). The final battle in Magician happening on the night of Koushin is a very blatant callback there. They don’t fit into the same continuity or anything, but I highly recommend reading them after Magician if you hadn’t read them before. They’re good.

I loved (heh) how the meaning of the title kept getting expanded on. Is the “fake” that Marisa loves magic itself? Her dream? Her lifestyle? Herself? Reimu? Her image of Reimu? And whatever it is, will she still love it by the end? In the end, the answer was “yes” to all of those. If you’re gonna told me you took it for granted that Reimu was a candidate for the position of “fake” too, well, good for you I guess. But for me, that dawning realization was one of my favorite moments in reading this series.

Similarly, I enjoyed how at least my own impression of what the plot was “about” shifted over time. Of course, on a surface level, there’s the Magician Incident, but it’s never really sold as a huge deal in and of itself: it’s probably pretty clear from the start that it’s a lead-in to something more important. By Chapter 2, you’re led to think that the main conflict might be about Marisa becoming or threatening to become a youkai magician. “Reimu deals with Marisa becoming a youkai” is one of the most iconic and well-established plots in the Touhou fandom, with a lot of different takes, but possibly a risk of oversaturation as a result - at least as someone who’s translated a lot of them. I can’t help but wonder if that was a conscious reason that it ended up being teased and then subverted here.

Even as the story mainly focuses on them dealing with the Magician Incident, which starts developing new twists, the threat of a more important personal conflict looms in the background where Marisa has pushed it. In Chapter 9, the crisis of Marisa becoming a magician is suddenly and completely replaced by her personal crisis over not being one anymore. Reimu acts seemingly aloof about it at first, but by Chapter 11, Marisa has kind of settled into the new status quo while the story suddenly becomes about Reimu’s crisis over it – more or less the polar opposite of the conflict foreshadowed since Chapter 2, and of the usual trope. I think part of the reason Marisa settles into the village life is that Reimu is still there. When she disappears, Marisa misses Reimu first and foremost, and magic as the proxy that allows her to be with Reimu (as she admits out loud in Chapter 12).

Gensokyo of Humans did something slightly similar, with how the acute problem of Akyuu’s memory loss and impending death - while still serious - gave way to her much deeper misgivings about her lot in life. Although, in GoH’s case these problems were closely intertwined and mostly ran side-by-side rather than replacing one another as a twist, so it’s not the exact same or anything.

Even though Ashiyama’s on Twitter joking “Fooled you! This was a ReiMari manga from the start!” I think you can’t in all honesty call that a last-minute twist or rug pull or anything, as some people have taken it almost in bad faith. While it was arguably up in the air until Ch. 11 or so whether Reimu and Marisa’s relationship would be at the center of the story or not, I think by then it became well-established as the actual point of conflict (though as I explained above, it was there from the start).

In a related manner, from the very first cover page and announcement, the story is presented as an action-packed adventure manga. I don’t know how much of this was just marketing, but by SCoOW standards, it wasn’t wrong: at first, every chapter features at least one major combat scene. Thus the end of Chapter 8 is felt even on a meta level as the action comes to an end with a crunch and disappears from the story entirely. Marisa and Reimu’s grief over the loss of her magic is made a lot more real by the fact that much like Marisa’s life, the manga’s whole genre takes a shift (arguably towards something more normal for Ashiyama). Of course, Magician was never trying to present itself as an exaggeratedly happy-go-lucky shounen that would make this come across as an attempt at shock-value genre deconstruction or anything; but the complete disappearance of action from the manga reflects its disappearance from Marisa’s life in a way that wouldn’t come across if we’d never been shown that action to begin with. Of course, it’s still understandable to be annoyed by that if you preferred the action.

Personally, I absolutely liked the action scenes too, but they were maybe a little detached, and this shift made it easier to become invested in the emotional core of the story. (Of course, it also happened at the same time that the story became more emotional in general, so it’s hard to separate correlation and causation there.) And naturally, the final battle was great, both in its presentation and what it represented for Marisa as a character at that point. The way she’s forced to fight now - yet fights, and wins nonetheless - provides a big contrast for how she fought early in the series, when she was the second most powerful human in Gensokyo.

Speaking of the “final” battle, let’s address what to me feels like something of an elephant in the room: similar to GoH, Magician has kind of a two-climax structure, where the story hits its first peak a bit earlier but then still needs to carry that energy forward to a second peak. Objectively that space between peaks is only like one chapter here, but it ends up feeling a lot longer. I was surprised but glad to see the inquisitor and witch’s story brought back and tied into the current one, but in retrospect, the pacing does suffer because of the page space dedicated to it then and there, when the story should be riding every bit of momentum from the final battle to the emotionally more significant ReiMari reunion.

While giving every bit of benefit of the doubt regarding the realities of working on a monthly manga, the squeezed pacing of the final chapter is the clearest criticism I have for this series. While it maybe says everything it needs to say - much of it being Marisa and Reimu telling each other what they have already told the audience, which is important - emotionally, it doesn’t work as well as it could, and kinda leaves the reader to expand on it in their own head. Having to digest an ending isn’t a bad thing, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true it lacked some oomph.

In GoH’s case, the emotional resolution came first and then had a relatively smooth falling-action slide into the practical resolution. Here it kinda felt like the other way around, and didn’t work out as well. This model/theory I keep talking about might well be flawed and overly based on comparisons to GoH, though.

Marisa’s stay at her father’s includes multiple other characters speaking with authority about how it’s a good thing, basically trying to decide her life for her the way her father used to. However, Byakuren and Kourin are both only projecting their own attitudes onto her and acting sanctimonious about it without really understanding either her background or her present situation. Byakuren of course is an outsider in general, and her armchair psychology and talk of filial piety come across as rather out of touch, but even Kourin, who ought to know Marisa pretty well and in many ways does, has his head too far up his behind to see Marisa’s lifestyle as anything but an imitation of himself, caused by his influence. He takes it upon himself to “fix” it by forcing her back home, and even decides that he must disappear from Marisa’s life entirely or she’ll follow him back to the wrong path again like the child she is. Even above that infantilizing attitude, him deciding to abandon Marisa for good would probably have hurt her more than anything else he’d done, possibly a far worse abandonment than that by her father.

Kourin does throw in valid and I’m sure honest concerns about things like Marisa hurting herself (she was indeed acting irrational and self-destructive - though her literal suicide attempt only came after his and Reimu’s abandonment), but it’s hard to see his other behavior as grounded in anything but personal bias. Whether or not this is intentional and without drawing too strict connections between different doujins, his behavior here and in Imaginative Power of Meiji ✕✕ makes it look like he has a streak of putting Reimu and Marisa in bad situations just to satisfy his own self-righteous moral of the story, even though he’s always been the closest, most trusted adult for both of them.

I’m generally not the type to demand that characters get their “comeuppance”, but man, Byakuren at least admitted (in her mind) that she was manipulating Marisa. Even though I find this Kourin really interesting as a character, I couldn’t help but want some kinda acknowledgment - be it by himself or by someone else - that he was kind of a prick. I wish his and Marisa’s reunion had been shown rather than happen between scenes, at least.

All in all, Ashiyama delivers. I really liked the manga from beginning to end, and can only really say I’m disappointed in the ending’s pacing. The story was emotional, emotionally satisfying, and interesting in ways I didn’t even get into here, like the different magicians who got to show up or the huge damn themes of passionate work for its own sake, feelings of academic inadequacy, and legacy beyond death - something the series had in common with GoH, really. Dunno if I really ever bring it up, but I’m actually a historian, so these themes in Ashiyama’s works really appeal to me. The actual “witch hunt” stuff felt iffy historically speaking, but I liked the way it was used in the story, and also how the magicians of Gensokyo were kind of tied into the outside world - or the Outside World as it is in Touhou, anyway. I kept thinking to myself, yeah, in the Touhouverse, why wouldn’t medieval inquisitors be going more after witches and using witchcraft themselves in order to do so? Especially once it was established that yeah, even though magicians exist in this world, they’re more than capable of avoiding the hunts, and the actual victims were still mostly just regular people.

Ashiyama (and his assistant or maybe assistants, who especially did a lot of the backgrounds) did great work with the visuals, and speaking as a translator, Ashiyama also has some of my very favorite dialogue to work with for some reason.

time skips, that’s the last time you have seen niki. You still have not gotten the boy’s name yet but all you’ve been thinking of during your shift before term break was him. How he didn’t show up at all after that last interaction. Which made you kinda disappointed. But nothing less, term break comes and you get to hang out with the one and only - heeseung. Which made you take your mind off from the boy for awhile, which you’re very grateful for.

Heeseung POV:

Heeseung was laughing and having the best time of his life with both of your family when suddenly his phone notification caught his attention. It was Niki’s Twitter, meaning he just posted something. Being the good older brother (or friend) he is. He decided to check it out before receiving another notification from the 7 tall dwarfs & Niki himself

My little shot of alcohol in my hand as a chuck it down my throat. Having a break from all the chaotic mess with my family was refreshing. I peaked over heeseung, who was still on his phone. Since I got curious I started looking what is he browsing. Seeing him swiping through his friends story made me chuckle “cool friends you got there. They look like a couple.” I laughed as I read the story caption. “Oh yeah haha..” he sounded kinda hesitant but whatever. After reading the caption my eyes shifted to the boy. He looked oddly familiar, I have definitely- nvm. Yes I totally seen him. The guy who caught me about a week ago. With another girl who I have no clue who but I guess her name is Isabella. Fuck why do I feel hurt.. I don’t even like you this way. I think heeseung saw how my mood change so he switched his phone off before I can even see his username. “Anyways let’s continue our game shell me?” He said before raising his glass towards me. Our glass clinked against each other before we downed our beverage down our throat, tryna get rid of those negative thoughts.

I had a dream about Gency and it reminded me of you bc I used to love love LOVE Gency (still do!) and your fics are so well written and I am so sad that Blizzard fucked up overwatch (and it’s lore kinda?) over the last couple years :(

Also the way they removed a bunch of Gency interactions and are kinda like..changing their relationship dynamic? And the line in the biography story mode thing about how mercy was genjis cyberneticist?? even though she previously was never mentioned to like… do that stuff and that kinda reframes how they interacted pre-fall and its a minor thing but it really just grinds my gears :(

Or maybe they do talk, but are obscured and don’t know who the other is until too late? Or maybe they fully know who the other is—what do they say? What do they do? I am super interested to read your take on this prompt if you ever want to write something akin to this!

First of all... WOW! Thank you for taking the time to write all this! And also thank you for reading my gency stuff. I still love them too, for all my disillusionment with Overwatch and its overall storytelling. I definitely share your sentiments with regards to the fact that the revolving door of writers has basically lead to Overwatch no longer giving a shit about continuity and actual storytelling and just defaulting to what they think will suck the dicks of fanon in the most satisfactory manner. And it's not just writing Gency out of existence either--it's about erasing the tragedy of Widowmaker and the complexity of Reinhardt. It's about reducing Gabriel to a shitty radicalized cop. It's about bringing in characters who make no sense chronologically and have fuck all to do with anything and honestly just heighten the truth of the "stereotype+fetish" joke of Overwatch character design (Yes, I'm talking about Kiriko and Illari). It's about bringing in Mauga 4 years late and acting like they're the cleverest damn people in the world for doing it. It's about expending an absurd amount of narrative and advertisement funding and energy on fucking ASHE of all members of the cast.

Okay--okay--I'm calming myself down.

With regards to your prompt, I'm just going to say, I played the general timeline out between Genji and Mercy the way it played out with very specific reasons. The truth was, as far as character development goes, for all of his love of Mercy (as far as my fic continuity goes) Genji simply wasn't in the mental or emotional space to have a healthy relationship with *anyone,* let alone Mercy. And that's also why I have him mentioning hooking up with Cassidy during his time in Blackwatch in the broad general fic continuity, because it's this very fucked up emotional period for both of them and they have this *very strong link* for a time but as they progress to healthier mindsets they both sort of outgrow each other. Genji moves on to Angela and Cassidy moves on to Hanzo and that's *good* because that indicates they've both grown into their own respective people past being in a really painful codependent state.

The *whole point* was Genji getting away from Overwatch, hallucinating Mercy at his lowest point, and realizing *he* needs to be the person to get himself out of his most fucked up mental corners, and then meeting Zenyatta so that he can develop the right mental tools for that. I'm realizing this is a very western interpretation of this, but then again Overwatch slotted in Robot Jesus with Aurora so fuck it, but if I had to break it down into a solid narrative, it's a Divine Comedy where Genji is Dante, Zenyatta is Virgil, and Mercy is Beatrice. You can have your idealized love and your most beloved mentor, but ultimately YOU have to claw YOUR OWN way out of hell.

If he met with Mercy or made contact with Mercy at any point before Zurich exploded in my fic continuity, that wouldn't give catharsis for ANYONE. The only position they would be in, would be for angst wank. And like, YEAH, I *can* write Gency angst wank that doesn't actually go anywhere and doesn't contribute anything to the characters beyond making them feel sad, but honestly I'd rather write my Anarky-Assassinated-President-Lex-Luthor fic. That's a nice fatty mutton bone I can chew on.

i’m having a bad time lol

i’ve been ranting and raving about this in detail for the better part of two months so i’ll try to keep this to bulletpoints. i think the way they got together was rushed (yes, rushed), poorly written, and i think they cut the burn off before the part a LOT of people waited so long for (angst, pining, arc, plot whatsoever) i think it was a bonkers decision to get such a well set up ship together in the midseason bc they were just like “eh fuck it here is good” and i have no beef with people who are satisfied with how it went down but i think when people who are disappointed express their gripes on their own damn account, people tend to purposely misunderstand. examples include “how can chenford be rushed if they took 4.5 seasons to get together?” to which i’d answer a. we are not saying chenford is rushed we’re saying the way they got together was rushed. b. it’s funny to me how people think that investing years of time and effort and heart to a ship should make us LESS invested in how they get together. c. bruh i’m asking myself the same question it’s actually kinda impressive that they managed to rush a ship after that long.

as for the story going forward, i’ve kinda lost hope in 5b at least. it’s beautiful to see them so enamored with each other and i will watch the scenes and smile at them bc they are adorable in a vacuum but as for the big picture, i find the writing overall to be quite dumb lately. i find it dumb that their biggest boundary to being together was work and they solved that in one episode in the most boring way they could muster. i find it dumb that it seems like we did not get to see the team find out they’re together. i find it dumb that we were given no reason for them “taking it slow” and then giving in after a couple weeks even though that pre sex makeout was hot as hell ngl (see what i mean?? in a vacuum!!) i find many many things dumb and weird and even though the scenes give me buzz, chenford used to have chem and story for me and tho the chem remains higher than it’s ever been, the story has, in my opinion, been shot in the face.

I don't remember if you've posted about this before, but can you please briefly talk about the editing and publishing possesses as a beginner author?

Hello darling! I haven't really talked about this here, but if people are interested, I certainly can.

So, the first thing I'm going to say is that there's no One True Way for editing. I can't tell you what will work best for you. I can only tell you what works best for me.

The way I do editing is pretty straightforward. Once a project is done (finished, but not edited or even spellchecked in any way) I put it down. Generally, I try to give a finished project at least six months to cool off, and a year is better. I don’t even spell-check it until the entire project is finished.

After six months, I’ve sort of forgotten the project. That makes it much easier to come back to it with fresh eyes, and read over it. Errors, bad wording, all of that, will be much easier to spot. Bad plot moments are easier to fix because I’m less connected to the project. It’s less emotional. It makes for a much more comfortable process.

Once you’re done with the project (it’s all written, start to finish. DO NOT EDIT BEFORE THIS POINT!!) and it’s cooled for a few months, it’s time for what I call the Three Draft method.

Draft 1 – Big changes. Rewording, plot holes, introducing or removing characters. Adding or removing content.

Draft 2 – Little changes. Spellcheck, typos, misused words (form/from, etc.) small rewordings. Add all your spelling errors to your autocorrect at this point. The more you can teach your autocorrect to fix things, the easier future projects will be. Also build out a spreadsheet of ‘frequently-used words’ that you use too much, words that get swapped with each other (though/through, there/here) so you can use the ‘find word’ search to check them quickly on later projects. This spreadsheet will be a living document, and you can add to it with every project as you catch more words (and punctuation errors like “” or ..) quickly.

Draft 3 – Typos. Final polish. Little things you missed. This one will take the longest, because you very much have to go over the whole manuscript with a magnifying glass. It helps to change it into a different font at this point, because it will change how you look the characters.

And that’s it. After three drafts, it’s done. Stop tinkering with it. Don’t change anything else. It’s not going to get any better than it currently is, and you’ll make yourself crazy chasing perfection. It will never be perfect. Finish it and move on.

Now, publishing is a longer conversation, so I’m not going into details in this post. If you want more, let me know and I can expand on it. Ultimately though, there are two options. Both require you to have a finished manuscript, so do that first.

Option 1 – Traditional publishing.

This is where you send query letters to literary agents until one offers to represent your work. (QueryTracker.net is a great tool for this, but you can also look for #MSWL on Twitter and post your pitch on those.) and you sign a contract with them. At that point, they will send your manuscript around to publishers until one of them offers to publish it.

Traditional publishing is much easier on the author than self-publishing, which I’ll talk about in a moment. Your job as the author is basically to write a good book, edit it as well as you can, and then send out about a hundred queries (and get 99 rejections, so be ready for that) until you get representation. After that, you basically do what your agent and editor (supplied by the publisher) tell you, and cheer a lot when your book comes out.

Option 2 – Self-Publishing

Self-pub gets a bad rap and I understand why. There’s a lot of very predatory companies that will offer to put your book into print for a ‘small’ fee (usually hundreds or thousands of dollars) and let you keep all the royalties. This is a scam. If someone asks for money to make your book happen, and you did not explicitly hire them for a specific job, they’re a scam. If you’re looking for professionals (like typesetters or editors) try Fiverr or Upwork. Both have a lot of great people who will do what you need. Do not go to Reedsy. Their professionals are wildly overpriced for the same (or lower) quality of work.

That said, there’s a lot of benefits to self-pub. You have full control, you don’t have to query, and you get more of the money from the sales than you would if you went traditional. Unfortunately, the trade-off is that the upfront work and money are a lot harder, because you’re the one doing all of it. That means editing, cover art, typesetting (VITAL for print, less important for ebooks) the ISBN number (Amazon and Ingram Spark will provide a free one, but there are strings attached) and everything else your book needs. Plus, you’ll be doing all your own marketing, which is a whole lot of work.

I’ve done both over the years. My first two books were traditional through a small press, and everything since has been self-pub. I very much prefer self-pub personally, but I’m capable of doing every part of book production myself. I have a degree in graphic design, I know how to typeset, I’ve been doing my own marketing for years, and I know the ins and outs of KDP (Amazon’s publishing service) well enough to be comfortable with it.

That said, it’s a lot of work. Publishing has been an unpaid full-time job for me for the last ten years, and for most of that time, I also had a paying non-writing full-time day job. In the last three years, I was able to transition from my day job to writing exclusively, but it took seven years of hard work to get to the point where my writing pays more than nothing.

I am not wealthy. I do not make a lot of money on my writing. I make more than none, but it’s about what I would make on a minimum-wage retail job. I could absolutely make more if I went back to my career as a jewelry professional, and I could make a lot more if I took a few classes and got an additional certification or three. I don’t do that because I love writing. I also take contract writing jobs for video game studios, and commissions.

Ultimately, which path you take is entirely up to you and they’re both really great options. No matter what you do, you’ll be very involved in your own marketing, so be ready for that, but it’s not terrible. If you don’t have a wide social media base (all under the same username, which is associated with your desired publishing name) you’re going to need them. It’s much easier to get published if you have lots of people who are eager for your next book.

For the record, I don’t give two sh*ts about Go Rush!! because I knew from the start that it was stupid and childish. It felt like the writers just gave up on it. No one wants to watch Go Rush!! because it was so bad that it made VRAINS and Zexal seem like actually good shows again. The problem is obvious. The whole point of Go Rush!! was to target kids with these twisted, poorly written stories aimed at a younger audience. I knew months before its premiere that it would be bad, since Konami was too lazy to hire a decent writer with real experience.

I just want to show people what's going on in the Go Rush!! fandom right now. There's this person having a meltdown, like it's the end of the world, similar to how some reacted when Donald Trump got elected as President. They won’t even allow themselves to accept reality because they already know the outcome. I stopped watching Go Rush!! in 2023 because it became too hard to keep up with, and I knew it was predictable from the start. The show is literally a Yu-Gi-Oh! starter kit for children, and only they can enjoy it.

The reason is simple: Bridge-era Yu-Gi-Oh! shows are not good. They come across as watered-down, poorly written kids' versions of the classic Gallop Yu-Gi-Oh! shows, which people had higher expectations for. Sevens was decent but still mid, and Go Rush!! has one of the most complicated plots and twists, making it hard to follow—I can barely understand what's happening. Gallop Yu-Gi-Oh! (the subbed versions, not to be confused with the badly dubbed ones) had more peak moments, even when shows like Zexal and VRAINS struggled. At least they still gave us a feel that the fandom can never forget. The whole Rush era feels like an insult to Yu-Gi-Oh!, and the only people hyping this up are Dylan from YGO Everything and Octomantley from Twitter, both of whom are dumb and clueless.

I’m better off working at my job and playing old-school games rather than watching Rush-era Yu-Gi-Oh! Season 2 or wasting time on Duel Links. I can’t wait for people to see the dub versions of Go Rush!! and go absolutely bananas because I knew from the moment the staff was revealed that the show was going to suck. I’d rather rewatch old Pokémon episodes from Gen 3 than sit through Go Rush!!. Heck, even Zexal, the worst Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, is better than Go Rush!!. I hated Zexal because its fandom keeps milking it with their "Niconico ratings" and "animation over story" nonsense instead of taking it seriously. You can’t even criticize Zexal or its writing without the fandom getting upset and telling you to "watch the damn show" from behind their keyboards, thinking they’re some kind of cancel culture warriors or something. The biggest problem with the Rush era of Yu-Gi-Oh! is the female characters—they’re basically Mary Sue types, written more for people like Kathleen Kennedy and SJW crowds. If you want to see good Yu-Gi-Oh! girls, go read OCG Stories on any manga website. And don’t ask me for links because I’m sick of people asking stupid questions. I’d rather read OCG Stories until we finally get a new Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, even if Yu-Gi-Oh! 9 ends up sucking or not. I’m done with the Rush era until we get a proper anime.

Girls’ Frontline: The Summer Garden of Forking Paths (iOS)

They said Longitudinal Strain was the start of the final set of events and then divided one, "Chapter 15" into multiple parts. It’d be funny if it weren’t so fucking terrible.

You know what this fucking multi-train pileup crash of a plot needed? Our fifth or sixth asshole scientist attempting to achieve immortality/resurrection/transhumanism/the divine cybermancy through the medium of allegedly special T-Dolls and making vague allusions to the "Relics", those things that haven’t fucking mattered for years and we never got any real insight into and more exist as fan-wiki blurbs and side content fluff than plot points. This scientist is the one brought up for the main character Erma in a past event, so I guess we needed to know that he was also another asshole making super-special Dolls and magic cyberworlds that matter to no-one and nothing outside of those Dolls.

The last major event ended with a dark twist and also with the Commander’s legion shitstomping Paradeus at their base and finally, finally capturing the mysterious William (asshole scientist attempting to achieve etc #2, maybe #3, hey remember the scientists who made the AR Team? Damn they really fucking mattered, huh?). This event opens with that dark twist having apparently already been dispensed with in a fashion that makes me think I somehow missed an entire fucking event (I haven’t checked, as I don’t even know where to) and discarded casually.

The Commander then goes to talk to William face-to-face for the first time and instantly, fucking instantaneously frame fucking 1, the Commander’s fancy mobile base is superhacked in under a nanosecond, all the Dolls are auto-KO’d and in the downtime the Commander, Dandelion and William are abducted/removed from the base so completely flawlessly that the literal special bindings keeping William arrested are still done, so he was literally magicked out of them or the kidnapper/rescuer thought to redo them for showmanship. Because the POV character actually doing anything, or achieving anything, or us getting to actually see this man they’ve been hyping up for 3-4 years, that would be dumb and bad and fucking stupid, what you need is another pointless event loaded with endless fucking waffling and stupid faux-symbolic guff that ends with a character, who once already sacrificed herself in a past event, sacrificing herself again to allegedly do something important.

Said something was never established or indicated as being a thing before now but it’s done so there.

There’s so many fucking misses predicated on you being invested in or giving a remote shit about the recent events, but they’re all mostly such writing disasters that I can’t understand how anyone is. I don’t really know why the Commander is so cut up over [ROT13] Natr orvat qrnq because I don’t remember them ever actually being all that close, or even friends. That character mostly just did her own thing, usually incompetently, and showed up to talk in riddles or scream at them.

GFL2 now has an active official English twitter account which recently began posting character bios and setting details, and promoting a concert over the summer; the global release is impending, likely in the last months of this year or the first quarter of 2025. I do await it, in the hopes that GFL2 is where all the real writing focus went, and also that the clean break and functional restart makes the writers cut most of the rat’s nest of pointless threads and details and guff out, letting them start fresh with renewed character focus and a different, clearer and more coherent goal. At least, I fucking hope so, and if not at least the character models are hot and the game looks fun.

7 months had passed, he watched you waddle around the apartment putting away baby stuff from the shower earlier that day. He couldn’t help but smile and admire the work he did. You took a deep breath as the baby kicked inside making you stop what you were doing. Walking over to you he set his hand on your belly softly rubbing it. “Hey sweetie it’s your daddy, stop kicking mommy she's trying to set up your future play area” He said. You couldn’t help but laugh, as if the baby would listen to him. She had a mind of her own.

Once your delivery day came closer the more Suguru stayed by your side, attending to everything you needed or wanted. Even the late night cravings you’d blame on the baby but really you were the one who wanted the weird combination of food and it was easier to blame on the child you were carrying.

The day she came Suguru wouldn’t take his eyes off of her. He never wanted to miss a thing. Whenever he could hold her he would, he’d even lay next to you in the hospital bed as you held her against your chest wanting to be apart of each moment. She was a perfect mix of the two of you, he would mumble to her how he had two beautiful girls in his life as he caressed her chubby cheeks.

A few months had passed and parenting came to the two of you with ease. You never had to worry about arguing with him about who had to get the baby when she would wake up in the middle of the night to feed or comfort. Even when you’d say you’d get her he would still wake up and sit with you till you got her back to sleep. He was a perfect father and you couldn’t be happier to have started a family with him.

You hadn’t talked to Harry all day. Not that you were mad at him or anything but your therapy this morning left you feeling a little spacey. There was something about talking about your emotions that left you feeling emotionally drained.

You missed Harry terribly and though it’s only been a short week, you felt very lonely. But on another note, your anxiety wasn’t as bad as it was. You were starting to feel like your normal self again but missing something.

You loved the tight knit life you have with Harry. You like being around him most hours of the day. You two were inseparable. If you were in the shower, he was in the bathroom reading a book from the lounger chair in the corner. If he was writing music on the beach, you were somewhere on the shore collecting shells. If you were going to the grocery store the least he could do was go for the drive with you. You two were close and it was something the both of you were ok with.

Some couples don’t like being so close but it worked for you and Harry. Being away from Harry was a weird experience. It’s only been a week but you feel like it’s been a lifetime. You haven’t minded being on your own but you wanted to be with the person you felt most connected to.

So being you, you purchased a ticket to Chicago. You didn’t know how Harry was going to react but you could only assume it would be a positive reaction. You told Jeff that you were coming so he could get you a hotel key and backstage pass.

As you sat in the airport you felt your back pocket buzz- your music pausing for the call. Your hand slipped into the pocket roughly pulling out the small phone. Harry’s icon, him in a fluffy robe looking as grumpy as ever, met your eyes. You cursed because you were quite obviously in the airport and if he saw you, the surprise would be ruined.

You answered anyways but only for audio. You made sure that your airpods were snug in you ear and there was no chance of them falling out.

“My lover!” Harry greets you a in sing song voice. You could hear his humph as he recognizes that you didn’t answer with the FaceTime video on. “Turn your camera on.”

“Can’t, I’m not feeling good.” You fib nervously. Harry frowned, nervous that he may have done something to upset you.

“Oh, alright. What’s wrong then?” He asks. You chew your lip trying to think of an answer.

“Uh, period.” You stammer.

“Your period doesn’t start for another few day…saw it on the tracker.” Harry may have your period tracker on his phone but it was because he wanted to make sure he was able to comfort you the best way he could when he needed to.

“Must be the meds-“ The sound of your boarding attendant sounded over your head cutting you off. “Hey bubs, I’ve actually got to go but we can’t chat later.”

“Sure, that’s fine I guess. Love you.” He mumbles, confused by the phone call. You hang up leaving Harry a little lost in his thoughts.

Later, Harry sang through his rehearsal carelessly, his head clouded with thoughts. He even sang through TBSL and though he was in the worst of moods, fans waiting at the venue thought he never sounded better.

You on the other hand had just sat through the worst flight of your life. There was a woman in the flight who didn’t want to wear her mask causing commotion before the flight could even take off. You had the worst headache halfway through the flight and because of the lack on supplies, the flight couldn’t give you any ginger ale or accommodations.

You didn’t let any of it get to you though as you directed for the chauffeur Jeff sent for you to go to the venue for show.

Harry sat in the common room backstage with the band and Jeff eating dinner grumpily. His fork was stabbing every little piece of lettuce of his salad, everyone watched worried that he may break his bowl.

“HS3 is trending on Twitter today, pretty exciting.” Jeff says to Harry breaking the silence. Jeff just received a text from you saying that you arrived to the venue and were walking towards Harry’s dressing room.

“Mmm great.” Harry grumbles. Jeff rolled his eyes at the diva.

“Someone’s a little pissy this evening. How about you go fix that mood before you greet your fans with a bad attitude.” Jeff scolds him like a child who just got caught doing something they shouldn’t have. Jeff really didn’t care about Harry’s attitude, used to the moods at this point, but he needed a way for Harry to leave the room and see you in the dressing room.

“Fine, didn’t want to be around anyways.” Harry shrugs.

Back in Harry’s dressing room, you rolled your suitcase into a corner where Harry’s outfit for the night resided on a hanger. You smiled at the sparkly black top that you helped pick out. You walked around his dressing room from the hair and makeup table, past the bathroom/ dressing area, and back around to the couch’s and coffee table where you took a seat. You snagged one of his green juices needing the boost of energy from being on the flight.

You heard the door knob jiggle but stayed planted in you seat sipping on the juice. You never made a peep as Harry barged through the room, scowl covering his face. He stormed past the couch not batting an eye at you. He went to the mini fridge where his juices were before letting an exasperated sigh.

“Who fucking took my juice?” He whines. You quietly giggle in your hand at his tone.

“Im sorry, thought I could have it.” You chuckle. Harry leaps from where he stands letting out a yell. He turns to look at you with wide eyes, hand over his chest as if his heart was going to explode from his chest. You stood from the couch waiting for him to react more but he just stood there in shock. When the realization of you actually being there kicked in he let out another yell before bounding over to you.

Before you knew it, you had two strong arms wrapped tightly around you. Your wrapped around his neck, hands and fingers spread through his hair. His face tucked into your lower neck peppering desperate kisses all over just to feel something.

“What are you doing here?” You hear him cry. You pulled away from him to wipe his eyes of the tears that streamed down his face.

“I needed to see you.” Was all you could muster. He pulled you down on the couch, your body cushioning his larger frame. He laid in between your legs, your back flat in the body of the couch.

“Im so happy your here.” Harry couldn’t even put his excitement into words. He knew you were coming in a week but to have you here earlier than that made him feel things. He sat up from suffocating you into the couch, allowing for you to sit up beside him. “What about your therapy? I hope you’re not jeopardizing your mental health to be here with me cause I would much prefer if you put me on the back burner and took care of yourself.”

You rolled your eyes playfully. “I’m ok. I still will see my therapist virtually, I’ve got all new meds that are working fine, and if all goes to shit I will go back home. It’s ok bubs.” You reassure him.

He grabs your face with both hands pulling your face to his. Your lips meet with need. His lips slotting with yours, moving slowly but with rigor as if he was scared you would slip from his fingers. Your bottom lips fit between his lips leaving for him to suck on it slightly. You moaned at the feeling making Harry pull you in tighter. You sat slightly upon his lap, chest against each other tightly. Your tongues pushed at one another, lips loving in tangent.

You pulled away when you felt his lower presence awaken. He whined at the loss of contact making you giggle.

“If we go any further you’re gonna be late for your show. I’ll give you more back at the hotel, yeah?” You say lowly trying to catch your breathe. He groaned resting his forehead on yours chasing your lips with chaste kisses making you smile.

“Fine, you owe my though. This is level three apology situation that can only be resolved with these things; sloppy blowies, butt stuff, or face masks if you catch my drift.” He chastised. You let out a deep belly laugh pushing yourself away from him. You two still sit facing each other, your legs slightly on top of his.

“You’re so nasty, but I may be able to arrange one of those.” You wink making Harry let out a triumphant laugh.

“Are you staying for the show? I understand if your not.” He questions fiddling with your fingers.

“Think it would be best if I didn’t. I’m really tired and I obviously need a nap if I’m going to be up for your post show antics.” You joke giving his nose a poke. He jokingly pretends to bite your finger in retaliation.

Harry went on stage that night happier than ever. He started plotting proposals from the second he walked you to the car with your suitcase and waved goodbye to you. You went to the hotel room and “accidentally” fell asleep wearing one of your most recent purchases curled up in your tour bus blanket.

Let’s just say that Harry not so accidentally woke you up after that concert ready to love all of his adrenaline off in you.

someone asked me to do a Rivusa breakdown from the S2 teaser! I’m not on Twitter so I’m not up on the latest spiraling but I do have some thoughts, first of all WE ARE WINNING (still have to pinch myself this happened)

Okay first shot is the production shot. Just admiring the new armor this season because it seems way more appropriate than the cozy cableknit sweaters + leather chest strap of Season 1. I’m not an armor expert but it seems to have a good combination of strength + flexibility to allow movement. Plus, it looks sexy. 

((what I’m saying is... Andreas & Rosalind had 16 years to think about fashion and it shows 😌))

Okay now there’s Fighting Scene #1 (sorry for the shitty quality gifs)

Alright so after studying this, I’ve come to the conclusion:

Riven is not fighting Musa. Musa is not fighting Riven. They are each fighting other people. You can see the girl Riven is fighting has longer hair and is not wearing orange; the boy Musa is fighting has closer-cropped hair than Riven.

Why are they all fighting each other? There’s some suspicion that all the clips in the teaser are from episodes 1 or 2 (so they don’t spoil major plot points) but... a student-on-student battle this early on? Also I doubt Musa’s gotten this good within 1-2 episodes, so maybe this is from a much later episode.

Then we get to the scene. The Scene. The. Scene.

I think this has been dissected enough but just some points:

It took me like 5 watches to realize he steals the staff from her 😅 my bad I was literally having palpitations while this was happening and someone in the room was screaming (dunno who though)

Obviously she’s still using a staff because he had such a big impact on her in their 40 seconds of interaction last year  😌  

I don’t love that second swipe she takes at him, it looks angry and awkward. I’m sure part of that is the BTS angle and it’ll look way better in the actual show

Is this a trainee outfit? WHAT is with that purple bra thing and why can’t she wear the same sexy black as Riven. Is this like martial arts where you get red to start, progress to orange when you’re better, and then get awarded the black belt? Can we see Riven in this skin-tight jumpsuit too?

Only upside: she’s definitely a walking red flag now isn’t she Riven.

HIS SMIRK when he does the little love tap 😌 the boy is in. love. your honor and you know he’s thinking about when he can do it again... elsewhere

At first I thought they were the only ones on the pitch, but in the beginning of the clip you can see 3-4 other Specialists jogging by (and none of them are wearing red with a purple bra...) and a few behind Musa using the training equipment. Still, it’s odd how deserted the pitch is, no Andreas or Rosalind in sight. Perhaps this is extra training time that Musa has requested 👀 just like we predicted in so many amazing fics.

IN CONCLUSION, I’M FUCKING EXCITED 

Personally I would prefer Rivusa get closer in s2 and then get together in s3; I feel like 7-8 episodes won’t be enough, with this ensemble cast, to givet hem the right room to develop. BUT that’s also assuming we get a s3 which I know nothing is a given.

Hi Lost!

I've been in the eruri fandom relatively recently, yet I found myself very much in what you and someone else said on Twitter about not feeling connected to the new turn taken by the fandom. While I still enjoy the amazing fanworks, sometimes it's hard to find people who share my vision of the dynamics and characterisation of these two characters.

My question is: how do you think it has changed from a few years ago?

Unfortunately, I didn't live through the 'golden age' of the time when Erwin was still alive in the manga/anime, but having read a considerable amount of fanfiction (especially the good old ones), I couldn't help but notice a huge change in the interpretation of the characters, especially on Twitter. I'm pretty sure that the popularity of certain headcanons is a result of the "Twitter dynamics", since I noticed it happen in other fandoms as well - sometimes it was necessary to take a step back and enjoy my characters and ships in a small corner to not ruin my love for them.

Sorry to bother you (and sorry for my English!), I'm very curious to know your opinion!

I hope you don’t mind me answering these two asks together, because they’re both referring to a slightly throw away comment I made in response to a friend on twitter yesterday about how the current popular interpretation of the characters is very different from the one I fell in love with. 

Before I go any further, this absolutely isn’t about policing anyone’s interpretation of the characters.  There is no “right” or “wrong” way to write Erwin and Levi’s characters, fandom is all about transformative works.  Everyone is free to read and write whatever they want and I would absolutely encourage them to do so.  The Eruri fandom is a big diverse space, and it’s been amazing to see the new influx of fans over the last couple of years.  I’m sure we’ll be welcoming even more when the final season of the anime starts airing. 

Understandably though, the fandom’s perception(s) of the characters has changed and evolved over time as the canon storylines developed. Once the manga ended though, and plot lines and character arcs were resolved (more or less), characters were freed from the canon storyline and characterisation to some extent.  Fandom has always been about transformation so it’s to be expected that popular fanon characterization will drift from canon over time once the source material has ended.  That’s not necessarily a bad thing, it just means that the popularity of different tropes can differ wildly depending on the point that you join a particular fandom. For example it wasn’t uncommon for Erwin to be portrayed as cold, ruthless and manipulative in the early days of the fandom, which is hardly surprising because there wasn’t a great deal to go on. Once Isayama really started exploring his character from the Uprising Arc onwards, he tended to be portrayed much more sympathetically and with greater depth. More recently, ruthless manipulative Erwin tropes have had a resurgence of popularity in Marley set fics. I’m not a huge fan of this trope because it kinda gives me dejavu, but I can appreciate why other fans enjoy exploring it.  It’s just not for me.  

If change is inevitable in fandom, so is nostalgia.  Whenever you join an active fandom, there’s always a bit of a feeling that you’ve missed out on the glory days.  At the same time, as the fandom moves on, you’re likely to find yourself harking back to your own glory days.  I think this is also why there is a tendency to feel that a fandom is “dying” when in actual fact it’s usually just changing. 

From my perspective, I came to the SnK in late 2015 and followed the manga and related canon content from about chapter 78 onwards, so Midnight Sun and the serum bowl was one of the defining moments of the fandom for me.  It irrevocably coloured my perception of Erwin and Levi’s relationship with each other, and also their relationship to the Shiganshina Trio. Though I would never want to live through that pain again, I can’t help having a fondness for fics that were written around that time.  I also freely confess to being very picky, and a bit stuck in my ways when it comes to the fic I read and write. I tend to read fics I love over and over again, which is one of the reasons I’ve always felt I’m the absolute worst person to be doing fic recs! 

Anyway, thank you both for your kind asks, you're both very sweet.  I have no doubt that the Eruri fandom will continue changing and evolving, and I hope you enjoy your time here with this amazing ship. Whether I’m in step or out of step with the popular tropes of the day doesn’t greatly matter, I’m just going to be here doing my thing for a little while longer at least.

PS @stand-on-the-horizon I forgot to add, I think you're absolutely right about the effect of "Twitter dymanics" on the ubiquity of certain character tropes. And I also agree 1000% that fandom is best experienced by finding a small group of weirdos who enjoy the same characterisation, kinks and tropes as you and hanging out with them.

About Jensen's idea

I just want to say a few words about Jensen's situation.

For several days there has been a discussion of his series and... So much negativity is pouring in his direction. I'm shocked! O_O I don't even want to go on Tumblr or Twitter because I've never seen so much toxicity towards Jensen.

Guys, it really scares me that all of you (Jensen's fans, Misha's fans, Cockle's fans and Destiel's fans - all the best we have thanks to SPN) are starting to turn into j2 fans who constantly blame Jensen for something. So much negativity towards him is usually produced only by them.

Yes, Mary and John don't interest me either. Moreover, I DON'T CONSIDER their love story as a "love story" at all (the plan of angels, etc.). They don't really interest me as characters. BUT.

It's not that it's John and Mary. The fact is that it is JENSEN'S CREATION. It's HIS job. It's HIS creation. It is HE who wants to show us and tell us some part of the story that we may not know yet. And the fact is that it's exactly HIS DESIRE and HIS THOUGHTS about it. And I want to see Mary and John through HIS eyes. Not through the eyes of the creators. Namely through the eyes of Jensen performed by Dean. How he sees and feels. Why? I don't care about Mary and John, but I DO care about JENSEN.

Without his participation, I would never have watched "The Boys". You think I miss the blood and guts in superhero movies? Do you think I miss super-humans doing terrible things and pretending to be good people? No, there is enough of this goodness in the world of cinema. I didn't watch "The Boys" because of Eric Kripke (even though I respect him). I only watched it when I found out that Jensen was filming in 3 season. It literally changed everything. Yes, I liked "The Boys", I won't lie:) But the FACT is that I sat down to watch it ONLY BECAUSE JENSEN was shooting there.

We have been supporting Misha for so long in all his endeavors - book, podcast, RoadFood, GISH, other charities and so on. We support him literally in everything he does. We support his opinion during Creation, even when he doesn't answer some questions. We support him even when he evades Destiel once again, starting to say their favorite phrase "everything is open to interpretation". Why? Because we love Misha!

Why doesn't it work for Jensen? What is the problem? Yes, the series will air on CW. So what? This will continue to be released thanks to Chaos Machin. This will be released thanks to Jensen and Dee. This will be Jensen's opinion about the story told by Dean. It's important.

You can hate John and Mary. Okay, I understand, really! You have a right to it, guys! This is true. But how can you say that "Winchesters" is a bad show or a good one if you haven't even seen it yet? We literally have NOTHING on it. No photo, no teaser, no reveal of the plot of the pilot, nothing. So how can you call it bad in advance just because it's a prequel? It's Jensen's idea and he's working on it because he has SOMETHING to tell us.

So why not support him ATTEMPT to do something new in the SPN's world? Moreover, what makes you think that he should shoot Destiel? He never promised it. Moreover, Misha never promised it either. Where did you all even get it from? Yes, I'd like to see Dean and Cas together again. Yes, damn it, I DREAM about it! But if Jensen is afraid to talk about this, then it's not as easy as we all think. And this is HIS RIGHT. You know, he could doesn't do anything at all. He could not even have created Chaos Machin. But he did it, so there's a good reason for it. And I don’t understand why you can’t just calmly wait for the series to come out and after the pilot episode start talking about whether this series is bad or good, and not smash it while we don’t even have a teaser.

The only thing I really care about is how strong the influence of CW will be. I'm afraid that Jensen won't be 100% free in his decisions, in his desires and in his plans. I'm afraid that CW will reject some of his good ideas. THIS is what I'm REALLY worried about, not that the show is about John and Mary. And if you're really Jensen's fan, and if you really love him, you'll understand what I'm talking about.

↬ when suna was younger, he really, really wanted a pet bunny. like he really, really loved bunnies, and would beg his parents day and night for one. he even made a really badly edited powerpoint on bunnies and why he deserves one (aside the editing, it was a very persuasive powerpoint. they filmed him while he presented it and the video haunts him to this day). his parents were relentless, though, and didn’t get him his bunny. instead, though, they surprised him with a cat. a cat isn’t as high maintenance since they’re very independent creatures, but can also be very fun. they figured any pet would make him happy. they were wrong. suna hated her so much and would never interact with her. like to the point where he nicknamed her “bitch” and now she mainly answers to that instead of her name. but all that only worked against him, and the cat just kept getting more and more attached to him.

↬ suna now loves her so much, and she’s just as attached to him. like he would kill for her, honestly. it’s his cat >>> everyone else. he has an album on his phone dedicated to pictures and videos of only her, and her bed is in his room because she always ends up sleeping there anyways. he realized later on when he grew older that a cat was the perfect animal for him, and he’s not sure if it’s a parents thing and they really knew or they were just winging it and hoping for the best, but she’s his favorite ever and he would risk it all for her.

↬ his favorite sleeping position with her would be when he’s casually laying on his back scrolling through his phone and she comes and crawls along him to lay on his chest. the warmth he feels within his chest like he just gets so giddy.

↬ suna is crazy obsessed with serial killer documentaries, horror movies, unsolved mysteries, everything like that. his favorite pastime is watching and reading these things, but honestly, it’s not even a like, “wow that’s so cool,” and more of a, “suna what is wrong with you???” type of thing, because he’s the type to have like insidious 2 in the background as he does his homework or gets ready or something. it’s kind of scary how unfazed he is with things like that.

↬ but! yeah he’s extremely brave when it comes to horror movies, borderline unhinged, but his biggest fear? his phobia, if you will? spiders. insects in general, really. he will scream like a sixth grader that’s yet to hit puberty if he sees a spider crawling near him. once he was peeing in the miya twins’ bathroom and some kind of cockroach crawling on the wall and nearly fainted. thank god he was already peeing because he would’ve pissed his pants either way. it’s so embarrassing for him, so he’s so good at hiding it. he just freezes impossibly when he notices an insect and doesn’t take his eye off of it until someone else notices it and kills it. there was this instance when they were at a training camp and he kept feeling as if something was crawling on him, but assumed it was just really hot and his skin was tingling from that. something was crawling on him, though, and it was not just really hot. Top 10 Most Traumatic Moments of his life, especially because atsumu’s first instinct was to record the whole thing.

↬ suna is extremely, and i mean extremely, touch-starved. physical touch has always made him uncomfortable for a reason unknown to him, so he never really accepted hugs or kisses from his family, and would feel so icky if he was roped into a group hug b by his teammates. so when he met you, he thought you’d be so against the fact that he’s uncomfortable with it, because who would want a partner that doesn’t wanna touch or be touched? turns out he actually craves it, and needs it badly, he just needed to take his own time and pace approaching it, and with how understanding you were, he doubted he could ever figure this out without you. he just took it slow, you know? but the more he touched you — held your hand, pinched your cheek, rested his head on your shoulder, pecked your lips for a few seconds longer than last time — the more he wanted you.

↬ when suna became comfortable with the thought and idea that yeah, he actually craves physical touch so damn bad, he wouldn’t stop touching you every second he could. he became insanely clingy, no matter if you were in public or alone. just always has a hand on you at all times. when he’s alone with you, he’s always trying to cuddle with you. you wanna sit and chill on your phone and not really talk? sure, just come do it with your head on his chest. you wanna watch a movie and munch on some popcorn and possibly share a drink? of course he’d love to! just come sit between his legs with your popcorn on your lap so he can steal some and also offer you some sips from the drink. you don’t wanna hug him after a game cause he’s too sweaty? that’s too bad, he wasn’t asking for permission. so you see, suna is a clingy mf. like latches onto you like a koala clingy <3

↬ suna’s music taste is very diverse. his favorite genre is alternative and rock, like the neighborhood, arctic monkeys, etc, but he also loves, loves loves glitchcore music, but also will un-ironically listen to kpop, and rap, and hannah montana’s old music too because why not. he just doesn’t care. if a song is good, it’s good. so what if it caters to a bunch of 12 year olds and not him? who decides that anyways?

↬ suna is very good at hair. like so good. as his sister started to get older, and her hair grew longer, she would sometimes ask him to do it for her before school. at first he was terrible at it, except maybe ponytails cause his hair was long enough at some point to push back into a ponytail, but everything else like parting her hair for pigtails or doing braids or a bun… he was just awful. so, in response, he’d just practice. he’d watch videos as he’s doing his little sister’s hair and be so focused, with his tongue sticking out a little and his eyes squinting as he tries to get it accurate. eventually, he becomes a master at it! you find this out when one day, as you’re just over at his house, his sister comes into his room with a hair tie and a brush and he just carries her up onto his lap and braids her hair as he chats with you and it was so endearing and so impressive and you genuinely believe that was the moment you realized you were in love with him.

↬ he offers to do your hair for you all the time now!! especially if you’ve just showered and are too lazy to brush it and tie it in some way, so he does it for you. he’s actually so, very gentle when brushing your hair, you don’t even feel a thing. if anything, it makes you really sleepy.

↬ when he joined the national team and started to become more and more of a public figure, he’d send you really explicit fan art of him and other teammates he was shipped with just to piss you off. if he was feeling really bold, he’d send you smut written about him. he says he wants to make you jealous. he just wants to provoke you in every way possible, really. one time someone made an edit plot twisting you and him to him and like atsumu so he downloaded video star and made such a bad edit of you and him and posted it on his twitter and instagram and it went viral. like it was one of those edits of just pictures flipping and hearts flashing and lights spasming all over the screen it was so bad it made you cry with laughter. that was his way of telling the world, no one but this person for me, right here <3

↬ i think he’d be very good at doing chores and cleaning and all that, despite how lazy he is. i just think it’s a habit kind of thing, where he grew up doing laundry and making his bed and cleaning his room and washing the dishes that he genuinely doesn’t mind doing it cause it’s natural for him. and he’s learnt to enjoy it.

↬ suna’s favorite color was deep, deep purple at some point, but now it’s between green and black.

↬ he’s caught up with all seasons of keeping up with the kardashians. please don’t ask him why, he doesn’t even know.

↬ once when you were out with him you just gave him a rock that was on the floor and he’s kept that rock with him ever since. like it’s in the drawer next to his bed and sometimes he just takes it out and holds it in his hand while he’s doing homework or scrolling through his phone.

↬ he spams you a lot. like at any time time of the day he just sends you a million videos of him doing the most mundane things; he sends you a video of him eating some almonds and at the end it’s just him going, “i’s good,” or him lip-syncing a song you sent him to listen to, or him trying to do eyeliner because why not. or maybe it’s pictures of him and it’s always ridiculous: him exaggerating him thinking, and then captioning it “thinking,” or just a picture of him on the roof with a peace sign and a pretty smile, or a close up photo of his face saying, “miss u.”

↬ he also spams you with memes all the time. and there’s no set type, it’s just all kinds. really corny memes and really cursed memes, wholesome memes and also memes that bully you. it’s all about the versatility.

↬ suna loves to sleep, he really does, but before meeting you, the only place where he could properly fall into a deep sleep was his bed. after meeting you, anywhere where you were next to him was the perfect place to sleep. if he had your presence near him he could sleep, it didn’t matter, especially if he was resting on your lap or shoulder or gripping onto your hand or resting his legs on your lap. he just wants you close to him, you know? like he feels so safe and comfortable when you’re around, it kind of scares him if he’s honest.
