Honestly, there wont be anyone she would marry.

She's not considered "beautiful" in ancient chinese standard. No long black/white hair thats styled in the recent trending hairdo. Her skin isnt flawless, fair and soft. Its riddled with freckles, a little harsh and callous. Nothing about her is considered "graceful and elegant" she's daunting and heavy, And she wears glasses, something that back then was considered as a signature of old age, pair that with her grey ish hair. She's obviously "not ripe" or so they say it.

I mean there was once a celestial guard who took a liking to her. In a sea of humans and gods showing her prejudice, this man was kind enough to give Suklha a chance. But even as he tried to be open and understanding to her, her differing opinion and view is too much for him.

He was a kind and heroic soldier, while she's a corupted godlike being. He tried to get closer to her, asked her out on a date, preparing such thoughtful gifts and activity. Yet as time pass by, every word that she uttered is starting to sound more cynical and judgemental, her passionate eyes starting to look predatory, heck even the usual playfulness is starting to hurt. That guy who made Suklha feel comfortable in her own skin and around him just, betrayed her. Thinking she's turning into more of a menace than he thought, practically turning her in.

That was the last sort of love Suklha experienced before Wukong, everything after that is just flings and non committed relationship. Wukong is the only one who persisted and annoyed most of her "flings" by stalking her and doing his courtships.

It's weird, if both of them were human. Its definitely horrible and invading any sort of privacy. Luckily they're not, its normal actually. His determination was a fresh air for her, it was full of stubbornness and self confidence.

If Suklha and Wukong never married, i believe she would just have her friends to keep her company. Losing interest in romantic love all together, focusing more on her career. She'll put more importance in her friends than lover.

I became a chemist because I wanted (still want) to spend my life making medicine production more accessible but honestly the main thing I've learned is that the average chemist like at a baseline level doesn't care about the environment. Their concern is doing whatever is needed to keep the regulatory agencies off their backs. dichloromethane gets banned in most industrial uses because of its crazy bad environmental profile, time to switch to using the even worse chloroform. talking excitedly about how the deep ocean nodule mining will reduce the market price for elements even as the few people who do care publish papers saying "these are vital in performing hydrolysis and produce oxygen deep in the sea; mining them up may cause unforseen damage to ocean ecosystems beyond what having tons of industrial machinery down there will do". joking about how you have to be careful not to put halogenated solvents down the drain because the waste channels are monitored and you might get in trouble (and not idk because they're horrible for the environment).

green chemistry. what a joke. imperial core countries ban production/use of the dangerous chemicals which does somewhat dampen the problem but mostly that just means industrialized countries outside the core get stuck with the environmental bill. "only one firm in india produces it nowadays" is a common refrain spoken as if it's normal and not horrifying that a single region is dealing with the sacrifice zone politics that the global chemical market demands. same shit as recycling where really the regions with less global shoving power get stuck with the bill.

also aughgh right??? there is so much to ponder wrt janet our collective beloved janet... i think often about this. like. his issues with jack would both shrink and grow because on the one hand jack is no longer actively around to do shit to feed into tim's many complexes. on the other hand, he now has jack up on the Perfect Dad pedestal in his mind because he's dead. can't criticize your dead dad that's fucked up and horrible. right?

and on the other hand. man. so lets posit he has a better relationship with janet than he would with jack (because janet is a better parent than jack, and let's be real, that isn't really a high bar. but given jack's... everything, i just kinda really get the vibe that he left most of the actual parenting to janet). now at first you'd think this is solely a good thing! ...but can you imagine how much more agonized tim is about having to lie to his beloved mommy???? all the time??? he's even more torn between The Mission and his filial piety this time around!!! augh!!!

like all those times jack didnt notice tim hiding bruises with makeup ? if janet's around it is sooo possible that tim steals HER makeup for this specifically at least once and She. Notices. deeply possible that she puts together "tim showing up with mysterious injuries he keeps trying to hide and also lying to me about it" with "tim getting closer with dick grayson and bruce wayne while i was away" and deduces that she doesn't know WHAT they've gotten her little baby boy into, but she IS going to kill those guys. tim keeps insisting that they're very nice to him but that really isn't helping anything. but just the entire concept of janet actually paying attention to tim's injuries - noticing if he steals her makeup!!! - or paying attention to things like. *checks notes* one of his classmates being SHOT DEAD at their SCHOOL ???? hey jack how did you not even check on him once after this. whats wrong with you. i just wanna talk jack

so i think she'd find out tim's robin way faster than jack. he probably would agonize about wanting her to know but The Mission and the need for secrecy, etc. but notably, when she finds out, i don't think she'd force him to quit - she'd really really want him to, because this is so dangerous and he's her baby and she doesn't want him to get hurt!!! but if he pushed back and tried to explain his side of it, she'd actually be willing to at least hear him out (unlike jack).

but also. not to be predictable but. i think it would be really funny if at some point during this drama kon-el shows up on the front doorstep looking for robin, and eavesdrops just enough to understand that janet knows now. because. hear me out. this is how we once again arrive at tim walking into his own house and home and just balking because kon is at the kitchen table hanging out with his mother. mom why the heck are you giving superboy my oreos!!!!

Like seriously all of her characters are every middle schooler first original oc and look I’m not saying you can’t have questionable characters in your stories (as long as you not trying to make it a silly thing) then go wild with it but when it comes to viv she just makes the most horrible and downright disgusting characters and go “tehe they are my silly little guy don’t be mean to him he’s gay🥺” plus she has no issues with making a bitchy female character yet the male needs their hands to be held and get a hug because they just misunderstood people who deserves better 😒🙄😒

Vizie only has two modes.

The evil character is misunderstood and their behavior is fine and not worth caring about, or they're just unsubtly evil and unsympathetic no matter their situation. Angel doesn't need to learn to be less selfish he just needs to love himself and stop doing drugs. Stella on the other hand is just a shallow bitch who doesn't even feel bad about her arranged marriage and has zero desire to get out of it because she's not even human enough to feel hurt by things that happen to her. Vaggie doesn't have to redeem herself she can just magically become the perfect politically correct version of herself that understands that every single past belief she had was wrong. Lute is the right hand man to the worlds first misogynist, and her main thing seems to be is sexual repression, while he's a total horn dog and also casually calls her a dumb bitch even though she has nothing but respect for him, but we're not supposed to think about why she's so complicit in the patriarchal hypocritical values that hold her down, it's not like those who challenge the system get damned to hell or something.

I was very excited for this one I gotta be honest...

I split them into sections to make it easier to see.

First there's my Elder Scrolls ocs because I love them all. We've got:

Rasha, who I'm sure I don't have to explain who she is at this point.

Setha-Ei (or Squints-At-Men). My precious little guy. He likes to punch things. He canonically has anaemia, horrible eyesight and he can't read (these are all results of jokes I made with my bestie and it was just too funny to not make it canon). Fun fact, he's sorta loosely inspired by Anjanath from mhworld.

Konrad is also a little guy. He gets angry a lot. And he's bad at controlling his magic.

Next we have my absolute favorites. These are ocs from a story/universe I'm working on. I'm still thinking if what to call it but I use Lorestone/Kamień Wiedzy in my head. We've got:

Diphy! She has amnesia and terrifying visions of the world splitting. The only thing she remembers is her own name and how to cook absolutely amazing food. She also has a weird artifact with her and it's a tool that will show her the way to stop her visions from becoming true.

Tagetes! He's basically a depressed guy that was asleep for a thousand years because he lost someone dear to him. He's good at making tools and prosthetics (he even made some for Diphy!). A few months after he woke up he was taking a stroll on a floating island near his house and he got caught in a storm and ended up finding a sarcophagus and a very confused Diphy inside it. Then he got dragged into helping her with her mission and recovering her memories.

And lastly, these two! They're also from the Lorestone universe.

Nyja is a very fun character for me and I love her very much. She doesn't exactly take part in the story and she's more of a lore character. She's basically something like a goddess of dead people that were wronged in life and she works for Judgement (the name is pretty explanatory but they basically decide the fate of souls based on what kind of person they were). She's very chaotic and unhinged and she ate an entire planet once. She has the title of Designer/Projektantka and what it means is basically she makes new vessels for souls that get a second chance at life. A fun fact is that she designed Myo's body.

Myosotis is also a very beloved character of mine. I'm still working on her design since I keep changing it over and over. She's a huge mystery for all the characters in Lorestone (except for Nyja cause she knows what's up). She's not exactly having a good time.

I could talk about my ocs forever, honestly. Very happy about this request. Maybe I should post about them and Lorestone more. Would that be fun?

This has gotten me to think a lot, so I hope you do not think that I'm arguing for the sake of "being right on the internet." I have a lot of opinions about horror in TTRPGs that I haven't fully materialized I guess, so this is kind of eking those out.

This is my bad: when I say that the players "do not have an answer to the problem," I meant that the players do not have 'ready-baked' answers to the problem (because the solutions are extant in other media). Like, the final resolution of games that I run which I consider to be "horror-esque" are about making a bizarre moral decision with no 'right' (as in objectively correct) answers. The players absolutely have all the information they need to make the decision (which they gathered during the adventure), but pulling the trigger on any answer requires the players to question their engagement with the fiction. You can disagree with that as well, but that is closer to what I meant to say.

I think we do disagree on the nature of games. I do not believe that games NEED to be fun to be good or valuable. Like, what makes a game is that you play it---not that it is fun. I think games, TTRPGs in particular, are held down by their supposed need to be "fun." Horror is, as a genre, not fun. I do not have "fun" watching most horror films. I did not have "fun" reading Frankenstein. I enjoy horror because it provides experiences that do not require them to be fun to be meaningful. Like, is the Blair Witch Project fun? Is I Watched the TV Glow fun? Would a TTRPG adaptation of those pieces be fun to play? Should they be? In the case of horror video games, is Silent Hill, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, or Pathologic fun? Not really, no. They're something else which can result in fun as a biproduct, but the initial intent is not fun.

So long as the horror is not obscene, most people who come into a tabletop game are usually prepared for some amount of it to crop up, so it has not been an issue for me. Like, at what point is "you're fighting a werewolf" shift from action-adventure to horror? I argue it is the pacing and presentation of the scene. When do fairies go from fun-fantasy to fae horror? It's all about context. The difference in what I'm trying to do is that I do not tell the players "hey, this fight with the werewolf might be scary." Another example: is it absolutely wrong to premise an adventure on "investigate how this noble was 'murdered'" only for the party to learn that the supposed victim is actually a vampire that lives in a ghost house (and the party is locked inside)? Nobody has had an issue with it yet because it is introduced in pieces. It just sounds worse in theory than the actual practice. Greyplains, my system, is not specifically a horror game, however it works really well for horror elements I tend to use because the mechanics support a feeling of disempowerment (and provides an emotional reward for overcoming this).

My point about comedy is that TTRPGs tend to be rooted in some degree of 1) improv and 2) probabilistic failure. Both of which tend to produce humorous results. Funny and horrible are not antonyms though, so it really does not matter that much. I retract that point as being useful. My bad.

I don't know what "If it's not a game and it still forces you to do things inefficiently, that's just A Job." means exactly. I don't know what you mean by "inefficiently" in this context.

I think that a flaw in a lot of the more ambitious horror RPGs I've read is that they all tend to go for the pitfall of Lovecraftian horror, but mechanize it, so it very often seems to end up as "roll to see if you lose sanity."

Some games, like Absurdia, handle this fairly well by not making it about your mental state along the way. It's more like... You can only handle pushing yourself so much before something bends or breaks.

but others, like Call of Cthulhu, seem to kind of operate on a "because I said so" type logic. From the APs I've listened to, at least, the GM seems like they just have the power to call for you to roll to Stay Sane or whatever. But it ends at the same destination, that dealing with The Horrors has a negative mechanical effect on your character, and if they experience too much Horror, you lose your character. the same as if they just die.

While this is interesting to think about from a narrative perspective, I think it ironically discourages players from playing like they're characters in a horror story. Which means everyone is operating on, like, Scream logic, where everyone is playing as The Guy Who Knows He's In A Horror Movie, even if they don't say it out loud.

What I'm MUCH more interested in, although I'm not sure how compatible it is with long-form play, is a game whose whole reward structure is built around Getting Your Player Characters To Do Stuff That Gets People Killed In Horror Movies.

Split the party! Go have sex in the guest bedroom while people are dying downstairs! Give in to the monster's threats/demands! Hide the weird not-quite-dog thing that followed you home under your bed for the night! Yeah, the killer will DEFINITELY fall for that trap! Wander off alone without telling anyone where you're going! It's FINE! If you survive, it's how you LEVEL UP!

A Tad Discussion

So, I kind of wanted to do this post for a while now. I was just never sure how to collect my thoughts about it because Tad as a character is very... interesting to me, specifically his motivation for why he hates Eli and his hatred for his dad despite acting almost just like him. So, sit back and relax as I try my best to understand and explain Tad.

Tad himself, as a character was obviously not very well-liked when he was first introduced. Despite the fandom being really small at the time our tiny but mighty fandom had a bone to pick with Tad because he's just Twist but almost worse. It's like those goofy fanfic where they're like and then it turns out that along Dr. Blakk had an evil son or daughter. Like it's just really lazy and we already had a character that the fandom really liked do this plot so much better

But I don't want to talk about Twist's motivation (I'll save that hopefully for another day), but I want to talk about Tad. First of all, his motivation for hating his dad really doesn't make sense... at first, I will explain. For example, he constantly says that he's picking up where his FEEBLE father left off and Tad I don't know if you've SEEN your father but that man is not feeble for the life of him lol.

But he continues to go on to insult him calling his dad a fool and even when Boss Ember calls him junior since I assume his full name is Thaddius Blakk Jr., it really pisses him off and his points his blaster at Boss Ember saying he's no one's junior. Speaking of his name it's interesting that he goes by Tad and not Thad. I guess you could argue that he was trying to hide himself from Eli and the Shane gang but considering how much he hates being called junior I feel like that's not the case.

It's just strange. He's really pissed off at being called Junior and acts like he doesn't want to associate with him but then ACTS just like him. I mean not completely, he doesn't ghoul Peiper which is better than you can say for Twist, but it's almost like Tad knows the ghouling is wrong. Maybe that was a way to differentiate from his father. I know they say it's to control the ghouls better but still

Either way, what does this leave us with. A boy who had a horrible life on the surface that acts like his dad but doesn't want to associate himself with him and who literally says that he wants to be twice the man he was. Sounds like bad writing sure but I think it's something different. I think Tad is overcompensating.

I mean think about it. Imagine you're Tad. You have a horrible life on the surface and your father either left you or doesn't even know about you only to spend all his time in this fantasy world building a business and a life that you're not a part of.

Only to later find a map or create a map I can't remember which one it was that leads to this underground, and you think I'm gonna go see my dad only to find that he was defeated by as he says "A kid my own age" I would be pretty mad too and it's clear just like Twist, Tad is taking out his problems as his frustrations out on Eli. Also, I will say I feel like the "evilness" from Tad came outta no nowhere or it could just be bad writing.

Either way, I still think he's overcompensating for his daddy issues. Everyone does something different. Some run away and become the protector of the world, some steal treasures, some become their enemy's associate, and others resurrect their father's business lol

But to finish off, Tad clearly wants to show the world or eh Slugterra that he is clearly better than his dad and a better villain. He's kinda like, oh, you were a businessman and left me or didn't know about me well, I’m gonna be a better businessman than you ever were, and I’ll prove that leaving me behind was a mistake. He hates his father so much that he wants to prove to everyone and himself that he can be better than him and kind of show off that he never needed him. At least, that’s the kind of vibe I get from Tad.

I mean in the end, I'm probably just reading waaay too much into this character. More likely than not the writers probably were just like ooooo how cool would it be for Blakk to have a son that also lived on the surface and then betrays the gang... as if we haven't seen that before. Rip Twist

You don't have to be sorry... Seymour felt a pang of guilt for making Audrey feel the need to apologize, but knew that it was probably for the best that they didn't touch too much on the topic of his past. Perhaps someday, if he was lucky, he would feel secure enough to reveal to her all about his life under the sea, about the time he had rescued her from the shipwreck, and about how he had gained the means to come up onto the shore with her. But for now, it seemed a much too complicated subject to try and discuss.

He shook his head once more at her rambling attempts to resolve the potential misunderstanding of her question, although this time, the gesture was accompanied by a soft, reassuring squeeze of her hand. They're not silly! He hated when she would talk about herself like that-- like even the most mundane things she did or said were boring or foolish or meaningless. She did it quite often, and it never failed to puzzle him. How could she possibly think that way?

They're perfectly good questions. He wanted to say, instead opting to give her a small, sad smile in a further attempt at comfort. You deserve to know the answers, and I really, really wish I could tell you everything... but I can't. His free hand rose to brush absentmindedly over his own throat, and he felt himself longing more than ever to have his voice returned to him... even if only for a minute, even if only just to have been able to tell her how wonderful she was and how much he loved her.

His mind drifted to the subject of how much time he had left to spend with her, and his heart sunk at the realization that, provided that he didn't get the kiss needed to keep his human form forever, he only had a few more days left with his legs. After that, it was likely that the two of them would never see each other again, as they would once more be divided by the boundaries of land and sea, and potentially even those of life and death, depending on what sort of horrible fate awaited Seymour if he failed to fulfill the terms of the deal.

The thought alone was nearly enough to make him burst into tears right then and there, but he knew that it would do neither of them any good for him to start crying now. Their interaction had already become awkward enough-- it was clear that they both needed some sort of distraction from the heaviness of their feelings.

A pop of color in his peripheral vision suddenly caught his eye, and he turned his head to see a single, beautiful white lily growing near the banks of the lagoon. Finding that their boat was near enough to the shore and floating slowly enough that he could reach out and pluck it straight from the ground, he leaned over and did just that, proceeding to offer the delicate bloom out to Audrey with a grin of newfound enthusiasm on his face. This is for you.

Audrey focused on the even back and forth of the paddles through the water as she steered her and her new friend toward the little spot in the lagoon she liked to escape to. She stole glances at the curly haired man across from her, trying not to blush. She knew she had no place taking a liking to this fellow who had seemingly washed up ashore a few nights ago…but his smile was so sweet and his eyes so deep and brown, she couldn’t help herself. But still, she kept it reserved, knowing in a few days time she’d be married off to some prince she had never met. She frowned, scolding herself for being so negative about it. Any prince would be better than the last one she was arranged to marry — but he had drowned in a mysterious shipwreck, one she had nearly met the same fate in, sending the kingdom into a scramble to find her a husband.

The pair turned around a corner into a little pool, surrounded by trees and vines. Moss grew over large boulders and fireflies twinkled in the air. The whole place put Audrey’s troubled mind at ease. “It’s so peaceful, isn’t it?” She smiled warmly, already knowing not to expect a verbal answer. He hadn’t said a word since he’d appeared on the beach, but Audrey didn’t mind. She found that there were other ways you could communicate with someone, and it was a nice change from the men who found every excuse to shut her up and talk over her. Sometimes Peri would get caught scheming and plotting Irep's demise (Revenge for Ruining his Science Project). Or Irep will get caught doing something very nice and wholesome for another Fairy (Helping a new student find their way around school).

Just as Anti Cosmo and Cosmo has a bit of each other's personalities mixed up, Peri and Irep has a bit of an overlap in behaviors, haha. They both love to monologue, for example. The more swaps a pair does, the more mixed they get!

Kurvitz stresses that Kim doesn't actually have a character sheet hidden in Disco Elysium's code.
