food headcanon that by the way, in all fandoms in which there are no supermarkets whether because historical or dystopian or, you know, it's Lost, Emma is going to be doing a LOT of hunting on the side because to be someone that active, who is training every day, and keep herself in shape, she needs to eat A LOT, and she's used to LOTS of proteins/carbs/fat, both meat and vegetables, and if she adapted to those fandom's diet she'd immediately get sick from the giant change of lifestyle and the sudden jump from like 2500kcal to 'barely eating' and given that she can tell her headaches can come from changes of diet and that she needs to eat a lot to keep up with her own activities there is NO WAY she's not doing the Most to make sure she keeps eating enough to sustain herself. Even more so if she has to protect others, she'll share the food but she knows that if she's the one fighting to protect them she needs to be extra well-fed.
she's not just genetically blessed, she works on being healthy trying to get the right amount of calories and sleep and rest, except for the times when she gets fixated on something.

hi im struggling with not comparing myself to how i was when i was sick… around this time last year i was at my lowest with my eating disorder and now im recovering and despite being recovered for more than 6 months its so hard to like not have thoughts about dieting and losing weight… i just want to eat normally and be normal but its so hard when i know i could look like how i did :( idk why im sayibg this i jst need advice i guess fhank you
This is such a hard thing to deal with. I understand, anon. I too struggle with this sometimes. I was brought up to believe that thinner was better, and I came of age and experienced my social awakening AND my body changing in the 2000's, the height of diet culture. It is so ingrained in me to chase that stick-thin look.
My advice is that if you're so early in recovery you should not try to go on a diet. In fact, many people in ED recovery say they can never go on a diet again because the very mindset of dieting can be a slippery slope. (I'll get personal for a moment and say this is extra challenging for me because I actually do have chronic health conditions that require me to limit what I'll eat. It can be super triggering.)
Honestly, I think that once we have an ED we may never be fully "recovered." Your mileage may vary on this one, but it may be similar to the way that an alcoholic who quits drinking cannot ever go back to drinking normally (in most cases.) They're never "recovered" but always "recovering." I think a large number of us may be in a similar situation with our ED mindset - something conditioned that spiral into us, and the pattern likely got trauma-locked into our minds. While this can be disheartening to hear, you can think of it this way - you have a lifetime of wonderful, amazing healing discoveries ahead of you.
I'd recommend, when thoughts of dieting come up, just remind yourself that it's normal for people in ED recovery to experience this. Make a mental list of all the things your recovery has changed for you and ask yourself if it's worth risking that for an attempt to change your body type. Because if you're comparing yourself to how you were at your sickest, and thinking hard about dieting, you may not be fully recovered.
Deep down, I think you know that getting down to the body you had when you were sickest would likely mean having to get very sick again. I think you deserve better, anon - to pursue love of your body rather than the destruction of it, to find reasons to love yourself as you are, to look in the mirror and find beauty in the body you have. Try hard to look at the natural variation in peoples' body types without judgment. Be patient with yourself, it takes time.
Best of luck to you!

Where can I find the best Lipedema Treatment in Kakinada?
Lipedema is a chronic condition characterised by an abnormal accumulation of fat, primarily in the lower limbs, and sometimes in the arms. It predominantly affects women and is often misdiagnosed or overlooked. As awareness of this condition grows, so does the need for effective treatment options. In Kakinada, a city known for its advanced medical facilities, there are numerous options available for those seeking relief from lipedema. This article will delve into what lipedema is, its symptoms, and the options available for lipedema treatment in Kakinada.
Tumblr media
Knowing About Lipedema Treatment in Kakinada
Many people mistake lipedema for obesity or lymphedema because of its similar appearance, but it is a separate condition with distinct features. The precise cause of lipedema remains uncertain, although it is thought to be associated with hormonal fluctuations and genetic influences. It usually starts or intensifies during adolescence, pregnancy, or menopause.
Symptoms of Lipedema
- Symmetrical Swelling: In contrast to lymphedema, which typically impacts only one limb, lipedema causes swelling in both legs symmetrically. - Discomfort and Sensitivity: The affected areas can be quite uncomfortable and sensitive to touch. - The skin over the affected areas is prone to bruising. - The legs often have a distinctive shape, with fat deposits ending abruptly at the ankles. - Weight Loss Challenges: Lipedema fat, in contrast to regular fat, tends to be stubborn and less responsive to traditional diet and exercise methods.
Diagnosis of Lipedema
Accurate diagnosis plays a vital role in ensuring effective lipedema treatment. In Kakinada, some specialised clinics and hospitals provide a wide range of diagnostic services. These commonly consist of:
Comprehensive Assessment: An in-depth physical examination by a lipedema expert. Medical History: This section entails an examination of the patient's medical history and symptoms. Imaging Tests: Ultrasound or MRI can assist in distinguishing lipedema from other conditions, such as lymphedema.

Lipedema Treatment in Kakinada
Treatment for lipedema aims to manage symptoms, improve quality of life, and prevent progression. While there is no cure, several effective treatments are available in Kakinada.
1. Conservative Treatments
Non-invasive treatments aim to alleviate symptoms and enhance mobility. Here are some examples:
Compression Therapy: Wearing compression garments can effectively alleviate discomfort and prevent swelling from progressing. Specialised clinics in Kakinada offer custom-fitted compression stockings to cater to specific needs. Experience the benefits of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), a soothing massage technique that helps alleviate swelling by stimulating the lymphatic system. Numerous physiotherapy centres in Kakinada provide manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) therapy. Lifestyle Changes: Although it may not provide a complete solution, adopting a nutritious diet and incorporating gentle exercises such as swimming or walking into your routine can be beneficial in managing the symptoms. There are professionals in Kakinada who specialise in creating personalised nutrition and fitness plans.
2. Surgical Treatments
In more severe situations, surgical alternatives may be considered. Here are some examples:
Liposuction is a widely used surgical procedure for addressing lipedema. It entails the removal of excess fat to enhance mobility and alleviate discomfort. Several highly skilled surgeons in Kakinada offer liposuction procedures using advanced techniques that are minimally invasive and promote faster recovery. Preserving the lymphatic system Advanced liposuction techniques can effectively target and remove excess fat cells while also taking care to preserve the lymphatic system. It's important to choose a surgeon with expertise in this procedure, and Kakinada is home to many highly skilled professionals in this field.

hi! may i please request headcanons for the brothers (and possibly purgatory hall) with an MC with fibromyalgia? sorry if its too much!
thank you, have a wonderful day :)
I did some research, because I wanted to make sure I properly represented it. I used two videos for my research.
Weylie Hoang's Video
Nicole Rafiee's Video
I mainly used their videos as references and starting points for what the pain feels like and how they cope.
I hope that this is accurate to how you feel and if not let me know so I can fix it! I don't personally have this problem, but I really wanted to try writing it because I know how special I feel when people write headcannons about niche things I have with my comfort characters.
I am going to talk about their initial reactions to MC telling them, and how they help MC cope with the symptoms.
Brothers Masterlist | Dateables Masterlist
Brothers' (and Purgatory Hall) Reaction to MC with Fybromyalgia
💙 Lucifer -
Let's be honest, he already knew.
It was in MC's file so it doesn't surprise him when they mention it.
Now when MC starts having a flare up, he lets them stay home from RAD.
Or if there are no classes, he offers MC to stay in his room.
"How about you stay with me, MC. My room is quiet and no one will bother you there."
Totally because it is quiet, and not so he can watch over their every need...
💛 Mammon -
When MC mentions it to Mammon he freaks out
"Are ya sure ya can't die from it! I am your protector. I can't have ya in pain all the time!"
When he calms down and figures out he can't really fix it, he is more helpful.
When a flare up happens, he stays with MC in their room.
Will be a runner for anything they might need. He is their protector and he is going to protect them from moving while in pain.
🧡 Leviathan -
Levi is concerned when he finds out.
But at least he asks about what it entails and how it feels so he can help however they need.
He keeps MC in his room when a flare up happens.
He is already stocked up on their favorite snacks and drinks, so MC doesn't have to move a muscle.
"Oh, are you having a flare up? Let me pause my game, then we can watch that anime you've been talking about."
💚 Satan -
When MC tells Satan about their condition, he is unfazed.
Once they leave, he then tries to find every book on the topic to fully understand it.
He will go to MC's room to take care of them (because he doesn't want MC to walk in his room, fall, and be in even more pain). Sometimes, they both compromise with the library.
He will bring MC tea and snacks, and then he will read to them for as long as they want (he will also gladly watch murder mystery shows like "The Mid-fall Murders")
"I know, I can't make the pain go away, but I hope I can at least make you forget about it for a moment."
💖 Asmodeus -
Asmo is worried sick when MC tells them about it.
He looks it up online and asks MC how it feels for them, and even though he knows it can't be helped, he is still worried.
He helps MC by having them hang out in his room and giving them a makeover. He will do their nails, wash their face, run them a bath.
"MC, self-care can make anyone feel better. You just let me know where it hurts and what you are willing to do and I will take care of the rest."
He will also ask about where the pain is and try to massage that area to lessen the pain.
❤ Beelzebub -
Beel is a worried boy when MC says they have chronic pain.
He now changes some of the activities he does with them so he can make sure they don't over exert themselves and get a flare up.
When MC is in pain, he carries them everywhere.
"MC, get on my back. I can take you to the kitchen and make you something to eat."
💜 Belphegor -
Belphie, like Satan, doesn't look worried.
He definitely is, but he is too lazy to research it.
Instead, he subtly asks MC questions until he figures out what the condition fully entails.
Unlike the other brothers, he doesn't like to run and get things, but he will stash stuff MC mentions that they like.
He will definitely nap and cuddle MC all they want.
"Come here, MC. Maybe you'll feel better after a nap."
😇 Simeon -
MC tells Simeon about their pain and he is concerned.
But Simeon knows that it can be managed and he goes out of his way to help MC.
If MC needs medication, he will always remind them.
He also makes them special meals so they have a balanced diet to lessen the chances of flare ups.
"Don't forget to take your medicine, MC. I also made you a salad with all of your favorites."
🐕 Luke -
Luke freaks out.
He doesn't know much about humans so he thinks that the demons caused it.
Once he learns what it actually is, he is your little guard dog especially if there are flare ups.
"Hey! Stay away! MC doesn't feel good and you need to stay away from her until she feels better!"
If Simeon is taking care of you, you better expect Luke to be there too.
They both are a team that will take care of MC to the best of their abilities.
🔮 Solomon -
Solomon had heard of Fybromyalgia in the human world, but never fully understood it.
After he researches and talks to MC he understands it better.
Solomon will try to make potions that lessen the pain.
He also tries to accommodate anything MC wants (even if it means pulling some strings to get human food they like)
"I got you a KitKat MC... I don't think you want to know how I got it."

Feel free to ignore this, but I saw this post you made about migraines and food triggers and it got me thinking. I’m not diagnosed with chronic migraines (or even just normal migraines) but I do get what I believe to be migraines usually around 4 times a week (sometimes more or less, I don’t rly know the exact number).
My mum tells me it’s because I need to change my diet. The problem with that is I probably have ARFID which means I can’t tolerate a lot of food textures (which she blames me for). So the post you made got me wondering whether diet has a significant impact on migraines or whether changing your diet has a minimal/no impact on them? (Sorry if this ask is annoying)
With ~4 migraines a week, if you went to a neurologist, you would be diagnosed with chronic migraine. Chronic migraine is when you have upwards of 15 migraine days a month. It's an arbitrary cutoff in that there isn't much of a distinction between someone with 14 migraines a month vs 16 migraines a month, but an important cutoff in the US in that it allows you to try preventative medications (I'm not sure how it works in other countries, sorry).
The way researchers talk about migraine is currently changing, and I personally agree with the changes. Migraine is now understood to be a mainly genetic disease-- so instead of saying "I get migraines," researchers would have me say, "I have migraine and I suffer from migraine attacks." That's not a purely semantic change-- it means that at all times, I am a person who has a migraine condition. I am sensitive to certain things that trigger attacks, and these things are often out of my control. As a patient, it is my goal to decrease my sensitivity and have fewer attacks.
This gets us to diet-- the main reason both MDs and patients like to turn to diet is that it feels like the most controllable aspect of our lives (obviously for someone with ARFID, this is different, but this will get to your mom's thinking at least). We can't control the weather (a common migraine trigger) or our work schedules or the lights they have on in school, but we can control what we eat. Since time immemorial, humans have believed that if they just ate the right foods, they'd have the key to perfect health.
The old knowledge was that chocolate, cheese, red wine specifically, and cured meats can trigger migraines. I've already covered the chocolate thing. Cheese also doesn't have solid evidence as a migraine trigger, and all the positive results came out of one lab, so that's pretty sus. All alcohol triggers migraines, not just one kind of wine, and cured meats is an interesting one in that it does seem like 5% of patients ARE sensitive, so it's up to the individual to decide if they are part of that group.
I personally have not seen any solid evidence in the scientific literature for diet being the key thing for migraine control. I have seen plenty of anecdotal data for people who swear that going gluten free solved their migraines. Some swear by going vegan. There is some evidence for keto, a diet designed for epilepsy that was resistant to medication, to work for migraineurs, and that makes some sense to me. Unfortunately, it's a very difficult diet to get right, and it's not for everyone for very valid and serious reasons.
For someone who already has a difficult diet, changing your diet would NOT be the recommended course of action. If the cure to migraines was to eat only shellfish, something I'm deathly allergic to, it would not be my fault that I couldn't handle the diet. It would be similar to being allergic to a medication, or a medication having an intolerable side effect. It's an option that is available for patients, but not everyone is able to take the same course of action.
So, is there a relation between diet and migraine? Maybe. The most diet-positive recent study I could find in the literature had this to say, "Although inconsistency is present in the literature and no consensus exists, the available data are promising in supporting beneficial dietary interventions for some migraine patients." Translation: Studies regarding diet often include very low-quality data and contradict themselves and each other, and nobody has an answer at all, yet we are still hopeful that there is a secret diet that will actually help.
All of that said, the most common triggers of migraine are:
lack of sleep (or inconsistent sleep)
skipping meals
the weather
hormones (menstruation)
bright lights
alcohol
strong scents
stress
There is so much more going on that "just" diet, and I'm sorry that your mom is indicating that your migraines are your fault for eating the wrong foods. She's wrong. That's not how it works.

Obey Me! Characters and an MC with chronic pain
More self indulgence
Lucifer
Is aware, thanks to Barbatos, but also respects your privacy.
Probably won't act like he already knows if you decide to tell him.
Can't stay by your side as much as he wants, but he works hard behind the scenes to make sure you're taken care of.
Makes sure the first aid cabinet is always stocked with pain meds.
Calls you in sick when you need to miss school.
Schedules your doctors appointments
Often tutors you to make sure you don't get behind.
Makes Mammon bring you your homework, Has Satan pick up your meds.
Still wishes he could do more.
The first to check on you in the morning if you wake up in pain and are late to breakfast.
Mammon
The first to know after Barbatos. He's always in your room going through your things, so he found your medications, aids, etc and tried failed to find a subtle way to ask you about them.
Is honestly amazed that you have to deal with that every day and still manage to do everything that you do for him and his brothers, and all with a smile.
Thinks you're a badass.
Whenever he goes on shopping sprees with Goldie, he buys you anything he sees that he thinks might help.
He doesn't know what it is, but it says its for pain, so MC might be able to use it!
It breaks his heart to see his human in pain, and he feels helpless, so he'll stay by you and stroke your hair during pain flare ups.
Hovers a little.
Always willing to lay in bed and have a Harrison Porter marathon.
Gets really good at wrapping your joints in compression bandages, braces, or kinesio-tape.
Leviathan
The resident Akuzon addict will actually research all the best products for coping with pain. He'll sort through reviews and find whatever sounds the most helpful.
He finds out when he invites you to an anime/gaming marathon and you decline, saying you're in pain.
Boy doesn't run, but he's at your door in three seconds flat and out of breath, trying to make sure you're okay.
Video chats, live streams, and other technological ways to hang out become a common option for the two of you, but he also sets up an area in his room just for you, where you can lay down and access anything you'd need to feel better. Tens unit? Check. Pain meds? Check. Heating pad? Check. Braces? Check. Ice packs? Check. The list goes on, MC.
Knows all your comfort characters/series, and incorporates them into his comfort strategies. "'You're amazing! I don't know anyone who could handle what you do every day!' That's what the die-hard gamer from your favorite anime would say in a situation like this, right?!"
Satan
Makes a point to do things for you before you can even ask him to.
Will get things for you, bring them to you, put things you've left out back in your room or where you'll easily find them so you don't have to go looking.
Always offers to carry things for you.
Reads up on whatever he can that might help.
Should we get Cerberus certified as an emotional support/service animal?
Obviously a good tutor when you need help with school.
Reads to you or sends you cat videos when you're having a bad day.
He's really good at reading people, so he's one of the first to notice when your mood starts to change due to the pain.
Makes the others aware whenever he realizes you're having a pain flare up.
The Devildom Museum of Art is suddenly offering virtual tours of all their new exhibits. Hmmm I wonder who could be responsible for that.
Asmodeus
The king of massages and back rubs.
Seriously, it makes Mammon jealous, so Asmo's always giving you back rubs in his room so Mammon can't butt in and demand that he takes his hands off you.
Always there to offer you a hot bath
Learns all about aromatherapy, and knows all the best scents for relaxation and pain relief.
Always buying lotions and massage oils to use on you, especially if he thinks they'll help.
Knows about all of the newest super food trends and encourages a healthy lifestyle and diet without being pushy.
Drink lots of water, MC!
Encourages you to take it easy, and to never feel guilty about taking care of yourself.
Seriously, Asmo will force you to take self care or mental health days if he thinks you need it. (Much to Lucifer's chagrin. Guess he's calling you in sick again.)
Beelzebub
Along with Belphie, he's very good at being able to read your mood and tell when you're starting to feel bad.
Likes giving you piggy-back rides and always offers to carry things for you.
Seriously, between Beel and Satan, you don't ever have to lift a finger if you don't want to.
Checks in with you often, but tries to make sure he's not hovering. He wants to help as often as he can, but doesn't want to take away any of your independence.
Gets really into physical therapy and learns all the best stretches and exercises to help you, but still knows that sometimes only junk food can make things better.
Takes it upon himself to bring you all your meals. He'll even pack you lunches, or go get your food for you in the cafeteria.
Knows all your favorite comfort foods.
Really just wants to hold you when you're not feeling well.
Probably the second best at massages after Asmo.
Belphegor
Prides himself on how well he knows you, and can tell when you're starting to feel run down almost before you can.
Takes it upon himself to learn your limits so he knows when you're pushing yourself and can distract you so you don't overdo it and wind up in pain later.
A little bossy, but his heart's in the right place, "Don't sit like that, MC, your back will hurt later"
Canonically already carries around stomach medicine for Beel, so he's definitely carrying pain meds around for you too.
Snuggle buddies for life.
As much as he enjoys/needs sleep, if you're having a pain flare up, he'll make sure to stay awake to stroke your hair and comfort you until you fall asleep first.
Tries to make jokes to make you feel better.
Doesn't seem like it, but he's a pretty good tutor too. He's used to cramming at the last minute.
Diavolo
Makes sure you have any accommodations that you may need. Online classes, extensions, extra sick days, you name it.
Checks in with you often, but won't say anything about your condition unless you tell him first. Will act like he doesn't know until then. But will sheepishly admit the truth if you find out and apologize.
Does anything he can to help magically as often as possible, but there are rules and limitations even for him.
All he really wants to do is take care of you and treat you to things. Anything at all that he can do to help, really.
Would pamper you within an inch of your life if he could.
Has the Little D's help you out with things all the time, but tells them to act like it's just coincidence that they're there and have time to help.
Lucifer and Barbatos both have to remind him that you need rest and he can't constantly be checking in on you. They roll their eyes whenever they see the Little D's approach you.
Barbatos
Was probably the one in charge of all the details of the exchange program, like transportation and background information, so he would have been the first to know.
Made Diavolo and Lucifer aware as part of his duties, but respects your privacy and wouldn't offer any details without permission.
Seriously admires your strength. It takes a lot to deal with pain every day.
Always has pain meds, braces, or other small helpful items on hand.
Does more for you than anyone besides Diavolo.
Diavolo and Lucifer both think it's sweet, and may tease him a little.
Solomon
Always has magic ointments and creams on hand, and gives them to you often.
Knows that weather can affect pain, and checks in on you when it rains.
Will take notes for you in class and bring them to you at the House of Lamentation.
Worries more than he lets on.
Does extra medicinal magic on you without your knowledge, but only if he knows it'll help somehow. Normally he has no problem experimenting on people, but he cares too much about you, and you've been through enough.
Simeon
Likes to cook for you when you're not feeling well and brings meals to you when you miss school sometimes.
Is really good at taking care of people.
Always there to listen, and very sympathetic.
Has to hold himself back from hovering, but having to remind Luke helps him.
Loves playing with your hair while he comforts you.
Forehead kisses.
Like Beel, he just wants to hold you and make things better.
Luke
Worries about you a lot when you miss school.
Simeon and Solomon have to remind him that he can't constantly call or check on you because you need your rest, but if one of them visits you, you can bet that he's tagging along.
You're so strong MC!
Making you desserts as we speak.
Would share his comfort items with you.

ways vampires might be relatable for people with chronic illness
Small disclaimer that while I have a chronic illness they come in all flavors and the type and intensity of symptoms can vary a lot, from person to person but also between months/days in the same person
Oh, so your body functions differently from what people expect? So you need a special treatment to keep your body going, or it starts working worse than before? Maybe you find yourself with the necessity of having to accommodate your living space to your limitations, your clothes, and your diet?
oh? So this condition prevents you from having "normal" life activities, maybe getting out much?
And it prevents you from feeling like you fit in with most people your age? Maybe it makes you feel like you are a little outside of society? Makes people consider you as a bad/inferior person, even if you have no control over it? Usually "normal" people don't understand it?
Oh! So you feel like you are kind of stuck in time because you couldn't continue doing the usual things your pears did at certain ages as they grew older? Maybe you feel like only people who have/went through something similar can truly understand you? Maybe you feel that because of the weird experiences this gave you you also developed weird tastes and hobbies?
So you see a lot of blood usually? (lol so many blood works)
I can't exaggerate how many diet limitations are usually involved with chronic illness, and the having to drink something icky to feel better. Additionally, being pale, another very common thing. And light and sound sensibility issues. So running from the strong sunlight? Extremely relatable, even if it doesn't literally burn you. And the usual sleep problems...creature of the night...
Plus the usual monster stuff... being seen as something weird? feeling a little unlovable? Some few doctors want to study you, most of them fear you and would like to pretend you don't exist.
Now thinking specially of invisible chronic illness : So even if you can sometimes fit in with "normal" people, you feel like you don't because of your condition? So people might assume things about your life because of your age and how you look that are completely wrong? so people might see you as "normal" until you start showing symptoms or they get to know you better/ask about your personal life?
I could go on but I think its long enough

Hey Feline, here's a (suprise!) non-Hordak ask for you:
You're a veterinarian, right? What can you tell me about your animal dietetic expertise as a vet? I know vets in my country have very little classes on dog/cat diets and when they do the classes are often sponsored by Certain Big Kibble Brands convincing the poor students that their dry, almost meatless kibble is The Best Choice for pets. How does that look in your country and in your college? Do you, as a vet, feel comfortable giving out dietetic advice or would you rather reccoment consulting an animal dietetic specialist?
Feel free to reply in PM if you want :)
Ah, I always enjoy animal questions!
This is a really common sort of thing that people ask about all the time, and it's a bit frustrating for vets because yes: we do get nutritional training. And no, it's not provided by food brands.
It's provided by nutritionists. Sometimes, like when we're learning about specific conditions (let's say, chronic renal insufficiency), we're taught condition-specific nutrition by experts on said condition.
Now, do those nutritionists sometime work for food brands? Absolutely. But thags because a good food brand will hire veterinary nutritionists and utilize their expertise. If a food brand doesn't have a dedicated vet nutritionist on staff, I wouldn't really recommend them.
The issue with the whole "vets are taught to feed meat-less kibble by food brands" is multi-factorial.
First, who perpetuates that myth?
The people who want to sell you more expensive, boutique pet foods.
Second, why do they say that, specifically? Rather than, say, showing you the copious research they've done to prove that their food is healthier for your pet.
Because they haven't done any research.
Pet food is a huge industry, and there's a lot of money to be made within it if you can find a niche and convince people to buy your product. But! Research, specifically well-done, live-animal research that truly tests formulas, is very expensive to do.
So many of these small companies will formulate products based upon math calculations (using research done by the bigger companies, who can afford it!), throw a bunch of nice-sounding ingredients together, and call it good. Then they will spend money on marketing, rather than factual research, to convince people to buy their products.
And it works! People stop trusting doctors, stop trusting research, and listen to the latest "homemade all natural dog food" company that tells them things that sound nice.
The thing is, this often doesn't really matter too much. Dogs are, for the most part, able to do well on a variety of diets.
Because that's the thing about dogs: by and large, they're not these obligate-carnivore, meat-eating machines. They're not cats. They're not wolves. They're animals that essentially evolved and became domesticated by living on the edges of human settlements and eating our garbage. Ancient dogs didn't receive choice cuts of meat from ancient humans. They ate scraps. They ate junk. They ate whatever. And a lot of that "whatever" was agricultural waste, often grain-based, because ancient humans were going through their agricultural revolution at the time.
This is reflected in the canine genome.
Now, that's not to say that certain breeds don't do better on higher-meat-protein diets. Northern breeds, various sled-pulling breeds, do. Again, genetics-based. And related to the fact that the humans in those regions dong really farm, they hunt. So, again: following human diet in domestication.
But most dogs that you find, day-to-day? They really are okay on many of the diets on the market. Some do better on fancy diets. Some actually do worse, getting diarrhea from the high protein. Others need hypo-allergenic, lab-made diets because of how severe their food allergies are.
It all depends on the individual dog, but again: generally speaking, dogs are adaptable. And they don't require what many of those boutique brands say they do.
Now! An example of what can sometimes go wrong.
Back in the summer of 2018, there were a bunch of dogs that ended up with what appeared to be a nutritional dilated cardiomyopathy. Some died. Others returned to health when they were taken off of their grain-free, exotic ingredient boutique diets (which is how docs knew it wasn't genetic; there's no cure for genetic DCM).
And this sort of showed an issue you can run into with these non-research based diets: if you don't do studies to see how your formula behaves in an actual live animal, you may end up using a mix of ingredients that sound very nice, but they don't allow appropriate nutrient absorption and utilization. In this case, it seemed that the high proportion of pulses and legumes in some diets caused problems in some dogs.
So you get dogs eating great-sounding diets whose hearts fail because they can't absorb taurine from those diets. Yet, when placed back on the "dry, almost meatless kibble," they recovered.
As a vet, I feel very comfortable advising people to pick a diet that is complete, balanced, and well-tested. There are many diets that fit those criteria.
What I generally refer out to a veterinary nutritionists is people who want to make homemade diets for their animals: that requires very specific knowledge and is best handled by a veterinarian who is board-certified in nutrition.
Now, as far as cats go: most cat-savvy vets will tell you that high protein/fat, low carb, wet food is best for kitties. Short, sweet, simple. Still needs to be balanced and tested, but that's the usual cat-vet recommendation nowadays. Not food-manufacturer recommendation. Vet recommendation.
Which is, again, were we tend to get our info! Fellow vets who specialize in nutrition.

Quirk Oddities: LOV
A/N: Warning, reeeeeeeeeally long post under the cut lol yeet
Gotou Imasuji/Muscular:
You have NO IDEA how happy I am that we F I N A L L Y know this man’s name,, anyway
Due to his Quirk having to do with his muscles (and obviously, augmentation of said muscles), he’s constantly in danger of muscular dystrophy if he doesn’t exercise them enough, even when not tapping into that muscular form.
Also feeds into his ‘blood knight’ behavior -- his eternal battle to fight stronger and stronger people and his own fight code matches with his Quirk, which gives him a stronger and stronger physique. He’s literally always itching for a fight.
Needs to eat a lot more than your average person, more on par with someone like Fatgum. Eats a ton of proteins and has a relatively healthy diet compared to a lot of other people. He’s very strict about what he eats so that he can get the maximum amount of energy for his muscled-up form.
Mustard:
His Quirk makes him more quiet and chill than most of the League; due to its somnolent properties (and due to the fact that he likely accidentally exposed himself to it far too often when he was younger), he reserves his energy for when he truly needs it.
As a negative side-effect, however, he suffers from chronic insomnia, which is mostly to blame for his irritability and (relatively) fragile mental state (not ‘fragile’ as in ‘literally an inch away from snapping’, but moreso ‘this close to mania at all times’.)
Drinks a lot of tea to try and calm himself down in the evenings. Lavender and chamomile are his teas of choice. On the flip side, tends to drink energizing drinks during the day so that he has enough energy to function.
Really prone to emotional lows. If he’s not careful, he can fall into depression and can get anxious very easily.
Moonfish:
Eats a ton of meats. Just... raw meats. All the time. He’s incredibly unhealthy. The bloodier the meat, the better. Will not eat anything cooked more than medium.
Will try to bite your arm off if you try to take food away from him. Actually, probably just tries to bite your arm off regardless. Don’t feed him unless you have a Quirk to subdue him in like 0.58 seconds.
Has to keep his teeth in pristine condition so that they don’t... accidentally break off when he’s trying to attack someone. Spends an obsessive amount of time brushing every morning and night. It’s one of the only times you will ever see this man even close to sanity, ironically.
Kenji Hikiishi/Magne:
Used to have to be cautious with using her Quirk when she was younger. Due to her inability to wield it correctly, she ended up magnetizing everything within a 2.5 meter radius. Eventually, she learnt to control it, but this caused some upsets when she was in school and people learned to avoid her if they didn’t want to get thrown like a ragdoll.
Very attracted to people. Not in a sexual way, but she loves socializing and can often wander near groups of people without realizing at first.
This isn’t an oddity with her body, per se, but she used to constantly be careful about magnets getting stuck to her giant magnet. It’s a pain to pluck them all off, so she eventually just started wrapping it, which negated some of its effects on anything close by.
It’s honestly good that her Quirk doesn’t work on herself, for many obvious reasons. When she was a young child in the first years after it manifested, she always questioned it. Now she’s incredibly glad it doesn’t, considering how much havoc she could wreck on other people. Instead she’s more in-tune with it, in a sense. She can tell apart red and blue ‘magnets’ very easily due to that.
Kurogiri:
Y’all don’t know how tempted I was to put Oboro’s name in there lmao
Constantly has a dark aura around himself that looks like a thin fog. I know, that’s canon, but unlike his actual fog created around his neck, this stays around his actual body shape so that even if the collar is gone and he can’t form more fog, the aura would be there enough to obscure some of his more defining features.
Due to him being a literal reanimated corpse, the reason his eyes are glowing and yellow is due to being reanimated. That, and yellow looks cool as hell with black and purple, amirite?
Prefers totally dark rooms. If he’s by himself just chilling after a long, hard day of being a babysitter to about 6-9 societal outcasts, he’s sitting or lying down, eyes closed, with all of the lights off, just basking in it.
Adding to that last point, enjoys misty, foggy days. He doesn’t so much enjoy rain as much as he does the general vibe of a fog-dense area. Really feels at home in it.
His sense of pain is highly muted, and his body is incredibly cold to the touch. I mean, he’s literally a reanimated corpse. It takes a lot of force for him to actually feel anything, and this goes for non-pain sensations too. Often loses feeling in his hands and feet and they feel like wisps of mist.
??? Shigaraki/All For One
Due to his Quirk’s innate nature of taking and giving, he’s a huge kleptomaniac. He just can’t resist swiping things (and maybe giving them back later).
He’s drawn to studying Quirks. Like a certain someone else we know, he’s obsessed with hashing out the more intimate details of a person’s power, and then he can truly decide whether or not he’s taking it.
His body is more naturally suited for taking on more than one Quirk at a time, but without his life-support system he would be royally fucked. Many of his Quirks require a lot of energy and his body is just too weak in its current state with all of his injuries to sustain them all. I know, he’s still incredibly powerful, but he’s considered ‘weak’ right now. Imagine him at his peak. How many Quirks did he have? 50? 100? More?
Adding onto his kleptomania, this applies to people too. He’s incredibly possessive of people he deems worthy of his time (his brother and Tomura being two notable examples) and will do whatever it takes to keep them at his side in the name of ‘keeping them safe’. If he had a family somewhere and he found out about them, you bet your ass he would go full yandere on them, but isn’t hesitant to lay the emotional/mental manipulation on thick.
Tomura Shigaraki:
As I’ve stated a few times before, due to his Quirk, Tomura’s body is constantly destroying itself, from within and outside. His skin is the outward reflection of it; after being found by AFO he was weak and easily sick due to his immune system not fully ready to handle the destructive properties of Decay.
Sometimes he’ll choke on debris from his own mouth and throat, as I’ve stated before. Very prone to ulcers and muscular dystrophy, so he has to be careful to exercise just enough that he staves off his body totally shutting down.
Has to be incredibly careful with his diet, because the wrong foods could damage his body more than before. CAN NOT HAVE SPICY/HOT FOODS. His taste buds have already been damaged enough due to forays into it before, and he can’t afford to sustain even more damage to his throat.
Has to drink a ton of water, not just to flush down debris in his throat but because he’s very prone to having a dry mouth. Part of the reason his voice (well, English Dub voice anyway) is so raspy is because his throat is constantly dry. If he doesn’t have enough water, he’s prone to bad coughing fits.
His nails are actually quite brittle, and when he scratches his neck he has to be careful not to break them. His lips get chapped easily and will split and bleed unless he lays on some ointment.
AND SPEAKING OF OINTMENT! I know the jokes about him needing moisturizer/Chapstick are hilarious, but Tomura has extremely sensitive skin and can not put on anything that has perfumes of any kind in them, otherwise it triggers a severe reaction and it takes him a while to heal. There’s a specific brand of ointment that he and Dabi use, and like the flame user he has to be constantly reapplying it during the day, otherwise his skin dries out even more.
He’s drawn to death/destruction, much like Toga is fascinated by blood and death (and birds). Much of the time, he causes said death/destruction. It’s so morbidly fascinating to him and it fills him with a weird sense of pride or calm.
Prefers humid conditions. If it’s more arid, he suffers. Can’t go out in the sun too much, because he burns very easily (more than Dabi, surprisingly). He likes lukewarm, cloudy weather, and especially autumn (can you guess why?).
Can’t do alcohol. Not just that he legally can’t drink (I doubt he’d give a damn about that), but consuming too much would further damage his body and he can’t afford to do anything too reckless.
Himiko Toga:
Her Quirk makes it so that she’s prone to anemia much easier than a normal person. She needs to keep her iron levels up, especially as a teenage girl, so she usually goes for more iron-rich foods (and especially meats). Give her a blood bag and she’ll drink it like a Capri-Sun.
Normally, a person can’t ingest much blood through their digestive system, otherwise they get sick. Himiko doesn’t have much of a problem, thankfully, but she still has to be careful not to drink too much otherwise she does feel nauseated (kind of like eating too much food will leave you full and vaguely sick).
Like Tomura, she’s fascinated with death, but to a more obsessive degree (given that we’ve seen her literally eat a dead bird before). Unlike him, she actively seeks it out, and most often creates death herself.
Jin Bubaigawara/Twice:
Oh boy, what else is there to say that hasn’t already been revealed in canon? I’ll try my best to go with headcanon here, but Twice is a complicated person to speculate about given that we’ve seen most of everything there is to know.
His body constantly feels like it’s about to split apart. It’s not much of a painful feeling as it is an odd sensation. He’s constantly aware of it and it does a toll on his overall mental state Every time he does create clones, the feeling briefly intensifies, and he finds it very hard not to keep splitting.
Needs the suit to feel like he’s ‘contained’ himself, if that makes sense. Like, he’s less likely to physically split in half if he’s wearing it. That, and of course, needs the suit to keep his crumbling mental state in check.
Atsuhiro Sako/Mr. Compress:
Much like AFO, he’s a compulsive kleptomaniac, especially for expensive/shinier things. He just can’t help but swipe things up, but if the other members ask for it back, he’s generally good about handing it over.
Sometimes is filled with a lot of nervous energy that manifests itself in fidgeting with his marbles. In those periods of time, he feels even stronger compulsions to steal and they mostly go away when he does.
Shuichi Iguchi/Spinner:
There’s so much to put here. Mainly gecko-related things.
As I’ve stated before, he thrives in hot, humid weather. Loves chilling on sun-warmed rocks the best. SUFFERS in the cold.
It’s a legitimate struggle not to eat worms or bugs whenever he sees a juicy one. When he was a kid, he just ate them whenever, but after being bullied for this compulsion, he tried to stop and eventually just hid it from others.
Sometimes when startled, he might make a chirping noise, much to his irritation. If any other gecko-type people are around, they might chirp back.
Sheds a few times a year on a fairly regular schedule. Gets really uncomfortable and itchy for a bit and gets irritated more easily as he sheds. Once it’s over, his mood gets back to normal.
Enjoys dark places to just hide in sometimes. If you can’t find him, maybe you’ll be able to find him in a dark crevice or a hidden nook or cranny. He feels a degree of safety in spots like this.
As we’ve already seen, he can stick to walls. I don’t know why, but that just makes me happy for some reason.
Touya Todoroki/Dabi:
Hoo boy. This one is a doozy.
Despite his Quirk, his body is more suited to cold temperatures, as seen in canon. This means he greatly prefers cold conditions and suffers in heat. He’s one of the only ones of the League who can be out in winter weather without bundling up.
Burns extremely easily, especially when it comes to consuming hot/spicy things. If you’ve ever burnt your tongue on a hot drink, that happens to him at least 70% of the time, but not just his tongue. His entire throat gets burnt, and it takes a while to recover.
His skin is incredibly sensitive to temperature, and whenever he uses his Quirk too much he burns more and more of it. But due to the large amount of his body that’s burnt and scarred, a lot of his sweat glands don’t work properly, and this can overheat him even more. He constantly has to be careful about his internal temperature and often carries a thermos of something cold to help himself cool down. He needs to take colder showers otherwise his wounds get aggravated. It just soaks up the moisture and he’s more prone to bleeds.
As I’ve hc’ed before, Dabi needs eyedrops. Due to his tearducts being damaged enough so that he can’t cry tears (as he’s stated himself), much like Aizawa, his eyes get dry and irritated way too easily. He constantly has to be reapplying eyedrops to keep his eyes moist and try to heal some of the damage already done. If he goes for too long without them, he’s prone to bleeding, and witnessing this man literally cry blood is viscerally disturbing.
His staples can get easily irritated and due to his fire they stay hot for longer. If he’s not careful when dealing with them, he’s liable to get burnt worse just from the metal. If he’s too rough, they will start bleeding and he’ll have to disinfect his wounds yet again.
The purple parts of his body? Third-degree burns. He can’t feel a damn thing. Doesn’t mean he can’t rip and tear, but he’s likely not gonna feel it. He’s had to throw away a lot of shirts because the bloodstains were just too hard to get out.
Prefers drinking things to eating things whenever his jaw is sore from his wounds. While he was first healing as a teenager, all he did was drink things until he could reliably work his jaw again. Cold brew and ice-blended coffees are his drink of choice.
Gets sick really easily. Ever since he was a young child, he’s been more susceptible to ailments like the flu and needs to constantly keep up his health. His body is weaker than it should be, and that frustrates him a lot. As he’s stated in canon himself, he can be easily motion-sick.

blooming devotion | MLQC Gavin
Fandom: Mr Love: Queen’s Choice
Pairing: Gavin/Reader
Rating: Teen and Up
Word Count: 5k
Summary: He sees it as the ultimate expression of his love, pure and unselfish in nature. His thinks his life is a fitting price to pay, one he never intends for you to be aware of. But things don't always (rarely) go according to plan, and you have a lot to say when you find out. The real question is–will you make it in time?
A/N: this was meant to be sad but I’m too soft. also need to fine-tune it because I wrote it in a bit of a rush so can I run back to Gavin smut lmao
Warnings/tags: (chronic) hanahaki disease, minor campus date spoilers, blood
Tumblr media
Nimble fingers fly over the piano keys, spinning a web of nostalgia and longing, trapping their audience with ease.
Even as you’re engrossed in playing old melodies, eager to share them with him, his eyes stay riveted on you.
A memory, old yet vivid, flashes through Gavin's mind. He can see it clearly in his mind, ginkgo leaves swirling fiercely around him, heralding his rebirth, his awakening; your arrival a watershed in a life he had thus far lived without purpose, piano chords striking at the wound up agony in him until it gave in to your light.
He had no one to live for, not since he lost the only person who ever loved him. He had his own code to follow, but it wasn't enough. The itch beneath his skin grew with each passing day, roaring for him to be noticed, to be cared for.
Falling to his demise brought him to his salvation.
You became his purpose.
Gavin believes in forging one's own path, but he secretly thinks fate had a hand in bringing you into his life. It felt right.
At first, he had just been grateful and had committed himself to your protection in the name of that gratitude. But you had hooked him in, heart and mind, and with each passing day, his young heart throbbed harder for you. His eyes sought you out the moment he stepped foot onto campus, his attendance in classes rising with that strange yearning in his belly.
To be the kind of knight you deserved, he needed to change. He needed to be better. For the first time in so long, he had hope. He had something other than the bitterness and rage that had been drilled into him, he had a chance to be more.
He watched over you; you liked to eat lunch outside, and you had a terribly sweet tooth. You almost always had your homework finished on time. You were unaware of his presence outside the window to the music room while you played, and you were oblivious to the way he burned when he watched hopeful teens ask you out.
He had thought that, perhaps, he should talk to you, or thank you, to make this tight feeling in his chest fade.
Gavin had tried to speak with you then, an attempt he's sure you don't remember. But that one unsuccessful conversation had been a pivotal moment; banal in the eyes of everyone watching, but as he had watched you trip, watched you close your eyes for a moment, taking in a deep breath before sinking down to one knee, he came to a quick decision. He had walked over and bent down to help you gather your things; you had glanced at him appreciatively, your small smile quivering, but something in Gavin bloomed.
The curious sparkle in your eyes, the rebellious strands escaping your bun, the subtle shine of your lips–captivating. The hint of bags under your eyes, the pensiveness in the twist of your mouth, the two fingernails that had clearly been victim to nervous chewing. It was the beginning of the end for Gavin, the moment the true purpose of his life became clear, the first drop of water to this new love that took root in him.
It wasn't all that uncommon, for people his age. And so when Gavin sprinted away from you, rushing to the bathroom with his hand clamped over his mouth and leaving you to stammer out a thank you, acceptance had started to set in. And when the first petal dropped into his palm, sunny and ironically cheerful, he held it to his chest as if clutching the most precious gem in existence. He vowed to give everything to his new purpose. The wretched, crashing waves of his existence met your steady cliff.
He was a stranger to you, but you became his world.
Tumblr media
He never told a soul.
There weren't a lot of people in his life that could be trusted with something of this much importance, even then. His father was out of the question; even estranged as they were, Gavin knew the man, and he knew that he would be strapped down as soon as his father found out, and his purpose would be carved out of him. The man would look at his flowers and see weakness.
Gavin would die before he lost the only light in his life.
He never told a soul, but that does not mean no one ever found out. Mr Keller suspected, as did his brother. He never admitted to anything, not at the concerned questions, nor the aggressive yelling.
But the one eventually caught him was Minor.
Minor, who insisted on following him around, who had been observant enough to figure out who had caught friend's eye, who cheered him on, praised him, shook off his attempts to push him away.
Minor, who had trembled as Gavin had succumbed to a sudden attack. Gavin remembers the warmth of his palm on his back, comforting even as he had hacked uncontrollably. The attacks weren't frequent back then, but he had watched you play the piano earlier that day, had indulged himself in fantasies he had no right to dream up, and he had paid the price.
His devotion was fierce and pure, and every great thing demands a sacrifice. It was a way to prove his will, his love, even if only to himself. In his eyes, this was tangible proof of his devotion; quiet and invisible in its expression, yet raging and fervent in its depth.
"...Why haven't you gotten them removed?" Minor had asked, teary-eyed and terrified. Gavin debated not answering before slumping back to rest his back against the fence. His...companion sat next to him, hugging his knees as he waited for his answer.
"I can't," Gavin had said simply. "I can't lose this. The surgery messes you up, it takes away your ability to feel and this is what I live for now. If need be, this is what I'll die for. I’m okay with that."
Minor had looked at him like he was insane.
"It's not a this, it's a person. Have-have you even told her?" Because it could only be you. Minor had looked furious, then, imagining that you had turned your back on his friend. That you had looked at this beautiful boy with his jagged edges and guarded eyes and looked away.
"Told her what?"
"That you love her."
It was the first time it had been put in those words. Gavin had never thought of it explicitly, had never thought I love her. He had just felt, and he had let the feeling consume him so deeply he felt it in every breath he took. It wasn't very painful, not then.
"Not yet," he had said, various scenarios swimming through his mind at the very thought of telling you. Of the expression on your face when you found out. You didn't really know him beyond what you'd been told, so he had a lot to work on. "I'm not ready."
I'm not good enough, not yet. But I will be. And then I'll tell her.
He made Minor swear he wouldn't tell. Minor agreed on the condition that Gavin keep him updated on the 'situation.'
Even as the years went by, and you were no longer in his sight, the flowers grew, and his love for you continued to grow in the tiniest of ways. All he had was a yearbook, but it was enough. His memories were enough to nurture his love.
All throughout, he tried to avoid Minor as much as he possibly could, but the other boy–man, now–tracked him down every now and then and demanded updates. He also took it upon himself to give Gavin updates on you. College, your father, and your new job.
He struggled with the need to go to you, and to offer whatever help he could. Not yet, he told himself. You’ll be of no use to her as you are.
It seemed that your absence, while not enough for the flowers to wither, was enough to keep them at bay. He grew stronger every day, forged himself a body and mind of steel, a man who would protect you for...for as long as he could.
And, once again, your reappearance in his life turned it upside down; he loved you all the more for it, and it wrecked him. With each droplet of blood that dribbled down his chin, with every beat of his heart, he loved you.
Tumblr media
When you came back to him, Gavin found out why his condition could be considered fatal.
God, but you had grown even more beautiful.
You no longer looked at him with barely hidden fear, only wary surprise. You were more confident, running your own company, and you needed his help.
He felt it, constricting in his ribs, and he prayed– not now. He felt his heart race, felt the tips of his ears heat up, tried to keep his eyes from glancing at you again and again and again.
Gavin had been quite amused by your uncertainty at his willingness to help. But you couldn't have known the lengths he was willing to go for you, had been going to for years. He had never told you. But he would.
He had hoped to get the chance to do it, to tell you how deeply he feels for you. And so he had allowed himself this luxury of growing closer, of really getting to know you. Of letting you see the man he had grown up to be, scarred and powerful and as just as he could be, hoping that you would love him, never really believing you would.
It ruined him.
Because now you smiled at him. You clung to him as he flew you home, and he could always smell the faint traces of your perfume, could feel the softness of you against his body. Now, you cared for him. You cared about his diet, his missions, his burdens.
You allowed him to come to your rescue, and it made him want to dance. It also had him on his knees, coughing up flower petals with more frequency.
He almost hated it. Sometimes he wondered if he should’ve stayed in the shadows, if only to keep that worried expression far from your face.
But he had to stay close, because there were forces in the world around you, stirring awake, ready to make their move and sink their claws into you.
He loved his flowers, fiercely and protectively. One would think they would be a certain kind of leaf that symbolizes so much in his life; but this was a symbol of his love for you. It would only make sense for it to be your favourite flower.
But now, they grow faster.
You finish playing the last notes of the symphony, smiling up at him, and he smiles back almost helplessly.
‘I love you.’
He...can’t die now. But it hurts to breathe, and it means his feelings have grown deeper. A part of him feels satisfied–it’s the ultimate show of love. Pure and unselfish.
It happens as you’re leaving the campus together; he can barely breathe, and the tip of your little finger brushes his. Gavin nearly doubles over, turning his back to you and coughing violently. He can hear you, frantic and worried, and he can feel your warm hands. His vision swims with the tears in his eyes.
He shakes you off, struggling to get the words out. He doesn't look at you, pressing your handkerchief to his mouth. He knows it's stained with blood. Don't let her see, don't let her see, please don't let her see. “It’s...it’s from...the mission.” The wind picks up, and his feet lift off. “Sorry...you’ll...have to go on...” He’s gone before you can say anything, desperate to find a safe place to ride it out.
He doesn’t dare to look back at you, and so he has no idea your attention has been snatched by something else in the wake of his departure. He doesn’t see you bending down to pluck a bloodstained petal off the ground, doesn’t see the sorrow that steals your breath away.
He doesn’t see you for a while, after that.
Tumblr media
Business is booming, and the work keeps pouring in. You've been working hard to fulfil your father's dreams and your own, and you hope he's proud of you.
You can’t bring yourself to devote yourself to any of it today, weighed down by the accidental revelation brought to light in your last meeting with Gavin. You've been cursing yourself for never noticing, for daring to think that you had a chance.
He's loved someone for a long time and it's killing him.
You’ve been trying to reach him for nearly two weeks, but there’s no response. You can’t eat, you can’t sleep, you can’t breathe until you see him, until you ask him why.
Anna worries. Kiki and Willow try to make you talk, but this isn’t something you can discuss with anybody else. This is a secret you will have to shoulder alone, until you can talk to Gavin.
Minor takes a day off, and he comes in the next day looking like the life has been drained out of him. You track him down to the break room, but stop and step to the side when you see him by the coffee machine with Kiki. A quick glance around ensures there’s no one to witness your attempt at eavesdropping.
“Minor, are you okay?” Kiki asks, whispering loudly, utterly unaware of you hovering nearby.
The man nods, more miserable than you’ve ever seen him.
“Aw, cheer up! Whatever it is, it’ll be fine.” Kiki pats him on the back. “Where’s Gavin? Why don’t you go grab lunch with him? You’ll feel better.” She walks away with that suggestion given, greeting you cheerfully, and so she doesn’t see the way he crumbles.
But you do. And you’re hit with another realization–Minor knows.
His eyes meet yours and he freezes, caught in your fierce gaze; before he can flee the room, you act. Silently, you apologize for cornering him, but this isn't something you can just move on from.
“Minor, in my office please.”
He doesn’t say anything as he falls into step behind you, nor when he closes the door behind him–not that you expected him to start confessing. He fidgets, hesitating when you gesture for him to take a seat, before sinking into a chair.
You let the silence stretch on for a moment, collecting your thoughts and weighing your words.
“How long?”
Minor looks startled, peering up at you in confusion. You reach into the drawer in your desk, withdrawing the single withering petal from it. A sunflower petal, from what you can tell. Your heart aches with something bitter. From the look on the man’s face, he’s seen it before.
“How long has Gavin had it?”
“Since...since high school,” he rasps, wincing at your quick, sharp inhale. That's too long. And the man has been continuing with his duties like literal flowers aren't growing in his body.
You're angry, you realize belatedly. Because Gavin is one of the most important people in your life, and he's always treated you with just as much care, but apparently you're not...important enough to be told this.
“How bad is it?” The words taste like ash in your mouth.
He stays quiet, staring down at his sneakers.
“Minor. How bad is it?”  You expect him to try and hide it.
Minor bursts into tears instead. You reach for him instinctively, a hand on his shoulder and the other reaching for a tissue, but Minor grabs your wrist. He looks devastated but his grip on you is secure.
“It was okay, before, but Boss,” he stumbles over the words, tears flowing freely down his cheeks, as if they can't be stopped. “He was in the hospital. It’s...it’s not looking good.”
You can barely speak through the numbness spreading through your limbs. Your mind spins chaotically but you'll be damned if you leave this conversation without getting your answers.
“He won’t...why won’t he remove them?” The words feel pointless even as you choke them out, because if Gavin loves someone this much there is nothing in the world that will make him sway. He's not a man who changes his mind, or his heart Your heart burns at the thought. “Has he told them?”
“N-no.”
“Why the fuck not?”
“I don't know. Every time I ask," Minor blows his nose noisily. "He says not yet. I feel like, like he thinks they'll reject him?"
You take a deep, unsteady breath. “Who is it?” Who could look at this fierce, beautiful man and not want him? Who is it that has everything you want in the palm of their hand, and not even know it?
Minor stares at you, an odd look on his face. You're seized by impatience, shaking him lightly. There’s no time.
“Minor, this is no time to keep secrets. We need to do something. Who is it?” You'll talk to Gavin. You'll help him talk to them. This can be fixed.
Something like pity flashes in his eyes, and his fingers slip down to curl around yours, hesitant yet meaningful. An unpleasant feeling curls along your insides. “Boss...”
You can’t breathe.
He’s had it since high school.
The I’m sorry hangs in the air. The it's you tightens around your throat.
You vomit all over Minor's shoes.
Tumblr media
The sky looms with the promise of rain, grey clouds drifting and arranging themselves to conceal the sun.
Your entire body aches with regret, even as hope sprouts in your heart. You don't think you've ever run this fast. You don't think you've ever had a reason to.
As you had suspected, Minor had gone to see Gavin yesterday, escorting the man home once he was discharged. He told you that the doctor was very clear about how severe Gavin's condition had grown. That there isn't much time.
It hadn't come as a surprise to Gavin.
You told Anna you had to leave, and you took off, refusing to waste another minute of his life. The answer lay with you all along, it's you. Even as a part of you rejoices, the tears spill over. It's you. You've been the cause of his suffering all this time.
The sunflowers.
There's a stitch in your side by the time you reach his apartment. You hit the button outside the elevator urgently, again and again; the trip up is nearly unbearable. You see your reflection in the doors–sweat drips down your face, and your dress feels damp in several unfortunate places. Your skin is flushed unattractively, your eyes swollen from all the crying you had done on the way over.
It all falls away when he opens the door, eyes wide and bleary from sleep. He looks awful.
And it's your fault.
"Y/n, hey," he lets you in without question, and the sweet concern in his eyes makes you nauseous. Even now, even when he's dying he's thinking of your well-being. He looks gaunt, like he hasn't eaten or gotten proper sleep in months. "Is everything okay?"
You're nodding automatically, used to responding to that question, before you stop forcibly. "No, actually, I'm not."
He looks worried now. "What can I do to help?"
You had considered just bringing a ring. "You can start by telling me why you never thought to tell me about your illness."
You spot the moment he connects the dots, his shoulders tightening in that endearingly and exasperatingly defensive way that comes so naturally to him. "Illness?"
You reach into your pocket, and worry that he's stopped breathing when he sees the petal in your hand. "Looks familiar?"
He reaches for it, and you watch with sickening fascination as he holds it reverently. "It's...not an illness." You hope that the slight quirk of your brow is enough to convey your demand for him to elaborate. "I mean, I know it's considered a disease, but I've never really seen it that way."
"For someone so devoted to his work, you're rather accepting of something that hinders it," you remark casually, trying to resist the urge to put your hands on your hips. You don't want to push too hard, but you're not leaving without letting him know how you feel.
"I guess my devotion to something else trumps it," he closes his fingers around the tiny petal. "It's a price I'm willing to pay."
The urge to do something drastic takes hold of you when he smiles at you so softly. You step closer to him, your hands rising to cup his, before you pry open the cage of his fingers to reach for the petal.
He watches you carefully.
You crush it in your fist.
"What if it's a price I'm not willing to pay?"
He swallows heavily, retreating until his back hits the wall. You follow him without a word. It could be almost funny, the way you're both standing in this little hall at the entrance, but there's no urge to smile. You don't think you've ever been more serious in your life.
"...Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it," he replies evenly, and this time you do almost smile at his nerve.
"Really? That's odd, because Minor believes otherwise." Your words are delivered casually, but with the way his skin pales one would think you've dropped a threat.
"It's not his business–"
"But it is mine," you cut him off, before wavering. "I...isn't it?" Because, maybe, Minor had gotten it wrong.
You stare at each other, studying, hoping, trembling on the inside. And then the fight leaves him. He looks defeated, ashamed and you begin to think that isn't going to be as easy as just telling him how you feel.
"Yes, it is," he shrinks in on himself, and you've never seen him look so small. "I...I love you."
You stare at him, wondering why he's looking at you with so much anguish.
"I'm sorry," he murmurs, and you snap back into reality.
"Why? I feel the same way," you say, sure and gentle, and reach for his hands. "I love you, Gavin."
His hands slip from your grip, and he's stalking away from you before you even realize what's happening.
"This is why I never wanted to tell you," he says roughly, taking a seat on his couch to rub his temples in agitation. He looks deeply upset.
"What do you mean?" You follow him, baffled, and sit down next to him, rubbing his back comfortingly when he coughs wetly. "Gavin, please–"
"The last thing I wanted was for you to find out and feel pressured to do exactly what you're doing." He sounds miserable, and you feel helpless in the face of his abject refusal to accept your feelings.
"What, confess my own feelings?"
"There are no feelings," he tells you, insistently. He sounds so sure and it hurts. "You're just...you're too nice."
"I'm really not–"
"You don't have to do this, y/n," Gavin tells you gently, ruffling your hair in a bizarre attempt you comfort you. "I'll be fine."
You smack his hand away.
And when he looks hurt, your fingers curl in the neckline of his cotton t-shirt and yank him towards you, your head tilting just the slightest to fit your lips against his. He tastes like iron and gatorade, with a hint of something floral that sinks into your tongue. It's brief, and soft, and when you pull away he looks stunned.
"I love you," you whisper, and he trembles.
"No, you don't." It's barely a whisper, so faint you nearly miss it, and you don't know what to do. “I know that this...this is unpleasant–”
“Yes. Yes, it is,” you cut him off, tears springing to your eyes and this time, you don’t stop them. You don't swallow your words, allowing them the taste of freedom. You feel weak, impuissant. “I hate this. I hate that you’re so willing to die. That you’ve known for years, suffered every single day with the knowledge that you will die for it. I h-hate that you never even thought to live for it instead. You never...you never...”
He looks at you, mutely and pleadingly, robbed of words.
You breathe in forcefully. "What I'm here to do, is to tell you how I feel, and to knock down the pedestal you seem to have placed me on."
There's that familiar defensive look creeping into his eyes, and you rush to continue.
“It’s selfish, Gavin.” Your anger subsides, suddenly and dizzyingly, and the longing that rushes in is tinged by sorrow. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
His head hits the back of the couch with a soft thunk, eyes sliding shut as if he's got no strength left.
“I’ve loved you for so long,” he finally whispers, and a part of you trembles at the way his voice shakes. “And all this time, it’s been the one true, pure thing in my life. I loved you. I love you. I always will. And then one day, my always was...uncertain. You would never feel the same way–that was also a truth I’d come to accept.” He shakes his head when you open your mouth, ready protest, and the sight of him trying to hold his tears back stops you. “I’ve loved you so much it’s killing me and I’d accepted that. How do I go back from that?”
You reach for his hand, bringing it up to your face. “By giving us a chance. Give me a chance, please, Gavin–I’ll show you, every single day for the rest of our long and healthy lives because I refuse to consider any other alternative.” You press your lips to the tip of his index finger, and the flush on his cheeks spreads further.
“You deserve–“
“Love,” you emphasise, kissing the pad of his middle finger, “is rarely about what we think we deserve. It boils down to what we want. And I want you.”
“I want to kiss you before we leave for work. I want to kiss you when you come back from your missions. I want to kiss you goodnight every night.” You nip at the flesh of his thumb lightly, suppressing a smile when he jumps.
“I want to use every bit of my limited knowledge of first-aid on you, although I dearly hope those occasions will be sparse; I want to share every secret I have with you, I-I want to wash your hair when you’re too tired to do it.” You bring his other hand to your mouth, holding it carefully.
“I want to get mad at you for not eating your vegetables, and for having the audacity to disapprove of me doing the same. I want to go to bed with you, I want to hold you, I want to love you.”
Gavin stares at you, dazed and on the verge of tears.
"Is it because I don't have flowers growing in me?" you ask softly. "Is that why you don't believe me?"
"No. No, that's not," he stammers as he pulls you to him, holding you tightly. Your chin rests on his shoulder as he struggles to process your words, and get his out. "I would never wish this on you. I couldn't bear it."
"Then why do you expect me to be okay with it?"
He doesn't have an answer.
“I know it’s taken me too long to get here, but I don’t want to lose any more time. I don’t want to lose you.”
You press the curve of your lips to his jaw, relief coursing through you when he melts against you.
“I want you to live. With me. For me. And I won’t give up. So, please–give me a chance.”
By the time to finish you’re both struggling to breathe, sniffling messily; you’ve pulled Gavin halfway onto your lap, stubbornly holding his weight, arms wrapped around him in a silent declaration–you won’t be letting go.
His head is tucked into the cradle of your neck and shoulder, his fingers curling into the fabric of your dress. “Y/n, I...”
“I love you.”
You crane your head down, a little awkwardly, as he looks up. There’s a spot of crimson on the corner of his lips and before you can think it through, the pad of your thumb is there, rubbing it away. Warmth blooms through you at the contact, at the way Gavin stares at you, and it’s alarming how your mind quietens when you’re with him.
Your lips brush his, achingly soft, and the breath he sucks in is quick and sharp. But his fingers curl around your neck and his mouth slots against yours firmly; a distant part of your mind is concerned by how hard your heart is throbbing, determined to burst out of its confines and reach Gavin, its true keeper.
He tastes like iron, and you vow to ensure Gavin will never taste bloodstained flowers again, no matter what it takes.
“Gavin,” you murmur, mesmerized by his flushed cheeks and glazed eyes. “Gavin, I love you.”
He doesn't say anything, but he buries his face into your hair, and he doesn't let go.
And so you drift off feeling more content than you have in days, hopeful and determined to keep Gavin in your arms, snoozing adorably.
You’re pressed closer than ever, curled around each other, and Gavin wakes up feeling warmer than he has in years.
The sky seems to have cleared up, sending the last eager rays of sun through the glass before it sets for the day.
He's nearly on top of you, and wonders how you're breathing, before the thought has him trying to pull away in alarm. You make a sleepy noise of complaint and follow, holding onto him even in your slumber.
The force of the affection that seizes him nearly sends him tumbling back into oblivion. And then you're stirring awake, mumbling his name tiredly, smiling up at him when you spot him staring at you like a man starved.
There's love in your eyes.
The thought has him tearing himself away from you, stumbling from the couch to fall to his knees on the floor, coughing more violently than he should be. He can hear you crying, your hands rubbing his back as he nearly throws up on the carpet.
Well, he does throw up, but something he hadn't expected to see.
A fully bloomed sunflower lies on the ground before you both, more vibrant than any other flower he'd ever seen. He lets you fold him into your arms, allowing himself the comfort of your warmth, slowly, finally believing that it's for him. Your smile, your laughter, your complaints–they're all his.
Everything will be okay. And for the first time in his life, with your arms around him, Gavin begins to believe it.

So I have a question about how weight gain/loss works and I can't find any studies that don't seem reductionist or oversimplifying.
So, I assume you guys and I both agree: weight gain and loss is way more complex than calories in - calories out. It HAS to be. For instance, I was underweight until I started taking certain medications which made me gain upwards of 70lbs in the span of a few years. My diet and activity levels have not changed. My mom eats worse than I do (legit she sometimes only eats sugary cereals and ice cream some days, I try to only eat whole grains in contrast because I like their taste better and they're more nutritious) and she's not nearly as fat as I am. I also exercised a lot for a good year or two and while I gained plenty of muscle weight my total amount of body fat didn't change.
Meanwhile a friend of mine is chronically underweight and we eat very similarly and have the same activity levels, and he actively LOSES weight if he doesn't eat upwards of 2000+ calories a day.
I know that's anecdotal evidence, but I hear very similar stories from many people and simplifying weight down to just calories seems like it's missing a whole big picture somewhere. The body obviously has some very complex systems in place regarding the storage of body fat and when it chooses to use it vs keep it.
Seeing as you guys are skeptical of reductionist science when it comes to body fat and weight, I was wondering if you had any studies or research on hand about how weight gain and loss actually works. It seems like a fascinating topic ripe for plenty of research and experiments regarding the biological pathways of how energy is stored and used, and why it uses fat stores sometimes and not others, and why it differs so greatly between people! It feels like if it were any other field people would be pouring grants and work into figuring out this really cool mystery but because it's about fat people nobody wants to bother.
So, we have posted a lot about this.
I recommend spending some time on @bigfatscience, since this is their actual area of expertise.
I’m also interested in this in a sciency way, but as a fat person I worry about ppl focusing too much on this and not on radical fat acceptance. It shouldn’t matter if someone is fat because they choose to eat a lot and do no exercise. That’s their right as a human.
I posted this graph [cw: o word] a while back. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start in thinking about weight systematically and in a more complex way.

last time the embedded link didn’t work so I’m just putting it here in case that happens again.
---
I’m going to throw my tuppence-haypenny in here. Mod Siarl already gave an excellent answer, I just have my spleen to vent also 😎 engage RANT:
The calories-in/calories-out thing bugs me a LOT because it’s so simple for people to throw out, and takes FOREVER to debunk. It’s like a Gish-gallop debating tactic: make the other side look daft by casually dropping it into a discussion and watch the other side have to faff about with a big answer.
I don’t know if this comes up much in US education, but there’s an old adage:
“Physics can’t explain how a bumblebee is able to fly.”
It’s patent nonsense. Of course Physics can explain it. The problem is mis-stated: Physics, as taught to 15 year olds, is too simplistic to explain how a bumblebee is able to fly.
Physics, as taught to post-16 year olds and in higher education, is perfectly able to explain it.
Calories is EXACTLY like that, IMO.
“Just expand more calories than you take in and you’ll lose weight. SIMPLE.”
It’s an oversimplification of biological process that, yes as stated is technically correct but it bears no resemblance to reality. It’s mis-stated.
When you restrict calories, your body will react. The reaction varies on person, circumstance, metabolism, genetics and societal conditioning. It may include, but is not limited to:
‘Starvation’ mode: your body chemistry adapts to lower calorific intake and preps for a famine. Fat is one of the last things to go, because it’s your body’s last line of defence against starving to death. (https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/starvation-mode#metabolism)
Depression/mental health. Not only are you depriving yourself of something that may make you happy (tasty food you like), you’re interfering with the societal use of food (social eating, with all its positive connotations for interaction), changing your body chemistry AND setting yourself up with a “I can’t have X otherwise I’m a bad person” mentality. (https://www.consumerhealthdigest.com/general-health/dieting-mental-health.html - refs at bottom)
Decreased activity. Fewer calories == less energy. Body stays the same shape (https://www.livestrong.com/article/454212-fatigue-while-on-a-calorie-restricted-diet/).
Reduction in muscles. Fat’s your last line of defence against starving (https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/calorie-restriction-risks#TOC_TITLE_HDR_7).
Fat loss. Yep, it might happen 🤷‍♀️ depends on all the factors above.
Weight gain. Guess what happens when the calorie counting ends? Your body tries to get back to its previous weight ASAP (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/smart-people-don-t-diet/201501/5-lies-the-diet-industry).
Yes, there are also studies that show calorie restriction makes you smarter, live longer, able to jump tall buildings in a single bound and blah blah blah, all of which rely on self-reporting from subjects (which is laughably unreliable), small sample sizes (womp womp) and significant differences in the baseline stats of the participants (eg this gushing report https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/caloric-restriction-intelligence/ which buries these huge methodological faults in the ‘further questions’ section. FFS.)
Why the disparity? Why is slim evidence given SO much credence rather than correctly being interpreted as ‘hm, interesting. More research needed’?
Being fat is just taken as fact to be a problem. Any study showing otherwise is immediately analysed until someone can explain that the study was flawed (see the obesity paradox for this in action - what if we just discount any thin person with cancer? Job done. Now fatties look bad again. And there was much rejoicing.)
The reverse is true for any study on calorie restriction: any methodological flaws are buried in the footnotes, because it fits the narrative.
Whether being fat is healthy or not doesn’t matter. Your body, and changing it, take a long time and concerted effort for slow changes. You’re under no obligations to any of that and deserve to be allowed to live in peace with respect. Maybe you like being fat. Maybe you like your lifestyle. Maybe there are factors more important in your life than your weight. Maybe you accept you will die at the end regardless, so to an extent your just choosing between cancer, heart disease or Alzheimers (sorry for being flippant - that’s a big topic right there).
(Why is this ‘the narrative’? If I had to guess, I’d follow the money: public health is expensive, so any excuse to turn it into a problem of will power/individual deviancy is embraced by people who want their taxes lower rather than paying for healthcare for the masses.)
So yes. Calories-in/calories-out is twaddle is the take-away from my TED talk/rant 🤣
NOTE: I’m not a biologist, nutritionist, doctor or anything else. Always go to the study source, check the methodology, check the conclusions (which regularly get utterly misquoted when reported) and make up your own mind. Don’t take what I say as fact, because I might be completely backwards.

Note
so hey, i just found ur blog and tbh im really looking for any advice i can get on dealing with chronic pain and fatigue? i dont mean to be a bother sorry! im just slipping into hopelessness with some people and even doctors not taking me seriously. i have done hours and hours of research and i think my symptoms may line up with sjogren's? it's just so hard for someone to look at my symptoms (even though they have been worsening since october 2019) since absolutely nothing shows up in my tests.
Hey!
This is not a bother at all. Also sorry if this is a late reply, my Tumblr never notifies me when I get messages so I have to manually check!
So to start off with, I know exactly how you feel. I have been there. It is truly horrible and I am sorry you have to deal with this. There is a massive problem with doctors not taking young people, especially women, seriously when it comes to pain and fatigue. It’s always ‘stress’ or ‘depression’ or ‘in your head’ and it’s just really infuriating. It’s a terrible place to be in.
I think this is a really important post. Its going to be LONG.
I’m going to first address the issues with doctors not taking you seriously.
It took me 7 years to get a diagnosis. This is NOT unusual. In fact, I’m almost positive that the average diagnosis time period for someone with lupus is 6 years. My first piece of advice is SELF ADVOCATE. This sounds easier than it is and it takes a lot of practice. I used to just burst into tears if I was trying to explain anything to a doctor. It is easier to self-advocate when you are calm and are clear about what you are going to say. To help with that, I suggest KEEPING A JOURNAL of your symptoms and have all your medical records in order. Make it in depth. Before an appointment, WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT. This way, you won’t forget anything. I like to reverse in my head how it is going to go. You really have to TAKE CONTROL of the appointment. You are allowed to demand certain things. I had to demand a referral to a rheumatologist when one of my shit GP’s refused to. He ended up giving me one, and on my first appointment with the rheumatologist, I was diagnosed and put on medication. It is important to DO RESEARCH but not too much. Don’t let the doctors know that you’ve done too much or they will think you’re a hypochondriac or something, maybe hurt their ego, who knows. You need to have a GOOD GP. If you don’t like your current GP, find a new one. Do research on good GP’s in your area. Ask your friends and family about theirs. Also, the best indicator for a doctor to know where you are at in my experience is saying MY QUALITY OF LIFE IS POOR. Describing your symptoms in-depth and how they affect your day to day functioning is important. Lastly, I always think you should BRING SOMEONE WITH YOU. Bring someone you trust, someone who knows about your condition. This is useful because they can back up what you say, they are there for support, and a doctor is less likely to treat you like shit with someone else present. You should also brief the person who is coming with you about what you would like them to do in the appointment. Do you want them to just stay quiet, or would you like them to sometimes talk or want them to take control of the appointment?
My advice for chronic pain
Pain killers (it make seem obvious, but they really help). This is a touchy subject for a lot of people, as there are obvious problems with long term pain killer use, but they are great for PRN. There is a possibility a doctor will not prescribe you with them though.
NSAID’s (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) can be helpful for pain
Tricyclic antidepressants are used to treat chronic pain
Topical treatments; I use tiger balm patches. These are the ones I use: https://www.amazon.com/Tiger-Balm-Plaster-Warm-Patches/dp/B07Q6WN9ZM. They help tremendously for me. I sometimes used tiger balm cream. Other good ones are Icy Hot vanishing gel and bengay.
Pillows: I used 12 pillows to sleep with. I know it a lot. But it works really well for me. Experiment with pillows; between your knees, under your arm, behind your back, under your hip, under your legs, etc. I literally sleep on a bed of pillows.
Reduce stress. High stress= more pain
Join support groups; I am on several FaceBook pages that talk about the issues that I have. This blog on Tumblr has been incredibly helpful. It’s good to have people who understand what you’re going through.
I cannot exercise, but some people find it useful (i never did)
Some people find meditation helpful (i do not)
Massages help but obviously, that’s not always accessible, they are expensive etc.
My advice for chronic fatigue
Medications; depending on your diagnosis, some medications can help with chronic fatigue. The medicine that helps with my chronic fatigue is Plaquenil which is often used to treat fatigue-related with Sjogren’s. There are other medications that can help with the quality of sleep such as benzodiazepines and tricyclic antidepressants.
Do not do too much activity (that has helped me, but for others moving and doing exercise and movement can help)
Have a routine
If you study, make sure you tell all your teachers and lecturers beforehand that you have a health issue that may impair your ability to come to class all the time or hand in assignments on time. In my experience, they have always been really helpful and understanding.
I also studied a lot from home, using online resources. I also took fewer papers at university to make it more manageable for me.
Look after yourself, make sure you eat good foods. A lot of people try different diets but they haven’t helped me personally but have been beneficial to a lot of other people. Definitely talk to your doctor about this though.
Give yourself a break, do not be too hard on yourself if you cant do the things that others are doing
Some doctors consider stimulant medication but I have not tried this
Lastly! Sjogren’s!
I know a bit about Sjogren’s because it’s related to the disease that I have. It is an autoimmune disorder. If you think you have Sjogren’s then you need to ask your GP to do blood tests associated with Sjogren’s such as rheumatoid factor, ANA, antibodies (anti-Ro (SS-A) and anti-La (SS-B) antibodies). Ask for a referral to a rheumatologist. SELF ADVOCATE. Do not stop until you find your answer. Also, get routine bloods. It is common for them to change over time. I
If any of my followers have Sjorgens and have any advice, please comment!
I hope this helped, I wish I could come up with more advice on how to deal with chronic pain and fatigue, but I know it is really hard. If any of my followers made it this far and have any tips, please add to this post and reblog it so that more people can see and add to it.
EDIT TO ORIGINAL POST
This information was supplied by a tumblr user called @graciecatfamilyband who actually has Sjorgens. They said:
Blood work and other tests CANNOT rule Sjogren’s OUT. This makes it very difficult to diagnose
30% of Sjogren’s patients will have negative blood work.Other tests may also not be sufficient, depending on where you are in your disease progress
Doctors are often undereducated about Sjogren’s and don’t see it as as serious as it is
Many patients will have neuro symptoms as well as other significant symptoms like fatigue before their lip biopsy focal score is 1 (which is considered “positive” for Sjogren’s).
https://www.sjogrensadvocate.com/ is a great resource for people who think they might have this disease. It also cites research articles you can show your doctor if you need to
They also offered to help out anyone who want to reach out to them if they have questions or need advice about Sjorgens and also, with diagnosis’s.
Keep in touch, let me know how it goes. Don’t be afraid to reach out and dm me.

ANXIETY: it just stops your life…
Anxiety: Everyone is familiar with this term, everyone experience this many times in his/her life time. Generally, it’s obvious to get anxious in some situations like before exams, interview time or during result time….. such kind of anxiety is quite common and mostly go/ vanish once the instance is over… In most of the cases, there is always a reason behind why person is anxious and if we address that reason, a person can succesfully deal with this situation.
But when anyone  start feeling anxious with out any reason like, suppose you are sitting on your couch, enjoying your coffee , watching your favourite show and suddenly you start feeling heaviness in your chest, suddenly your heart is pounding ,gets throbbing… you start sweating, trembling, restless……and when you calm down you try to recall what happen?? and you realised  that  actually you don’t have any clue why this is happening to you,you trying to find out but you get no answer, no specific answer and when such incidents start happening more frequently then this anxiety is called CHRONIC ANXIETY DISORDER (CAD).
Anxiety not only means that you feel only low but it also means you feel very high too but one thing is common you wont have any reason for either of these states….like it can be understood that your electrons are always into excited mode not at its normal state ,you either feel too low or too high….🤨😔🙂
There can be anything that can make you anxious when you have CAD[ Chronic anxiety disorder] this something or anything  is named as triggers….. list of triggers is so long and  varies so much from person to person that it’s practically not possible to pen them down.
I ,personally, dealing with this CAD so I can very well know how difficult this situation is, sometimes even a word like ‘shame’ can trigger or aggravate the anxiety… though if we look into literal meaning of shame it is not a very positive word but it’s very general/ common to use such words in not negative way. Is it possible to avoid such triggers… Mmm… according  to me it’s not practically possible. How such things can be avoided??, it’s only possible if you just lock yourself or just raise walls around you so high that you just be with yourself only…… and icing on cake is that even if disconnect ourselves from all people, still we get anxious ,this is the most worst.
And its a sigh!! that there is no magic, no silver bullet which you can just pop in  and get rid of anxiety…. 😒😒and funny part is the medicines being prescribed to control anxiety, they all have anxiety, depression as side effect, isn’t it funny?
Its a very tricky and vicious circle, you just can’t go and tell everyone around you that look please don’t do this, don’t do that because I’m a CAD patient and Irony is we really need support, a good support system to deal / fight with this condition. Very few are lucky ones that get such strong support system actually I think(its my perception) it’s very difficult to get such support afterall they’re humans, they’ve their own limitations so I just wonder what should/ can be done in such situations? How to break this circle, how to deal with it at your own level without creating negative impact on persons in inner circle of your life?
My this problem increased to the point where it starts impacting my role as mother.I am lucky that im blessed with very understanding boy but I started feeling that my this situation is giving, putting negative impact on my son’s life.I started expecting more understanding from him, which is not right, afterall he is just a my little boy and
It puts me on roller coaster ride of guilty.
Now the million dollar question is how to treat this condition or atleast manage it so it cant impact negatively on our lives.
My personal understanding from my own situation is that the most important thing is to accept this condition, this anxiety… it’s very important to accept that it’s fine, it’s okay if we’ve CAD or anyother kind of anxiety or mental health issues. Its not something to hide or run from it. Second, important part is to understand that it is treatable just like most of other physical ailments. Third , part is to take help of not only physchiatrist , but also of physchologist as former one mostly deals with medicines , but former one can help us to address the hidden triggers for anxiety, which we may find are not triggers . Along with all this, we can incorporate yoga, meditation, mindfulness, inner child therapies. Moderate exercise , with healthy diet can help to cope with this condition. Its absolutely fine, okay to seek help from family or friends if possible.
The first step is very important that is to accept your condition asap. I, myself, took long time to accept that I can have anxiety , I always think I’m a strong person with tough mind, such mental health issues can’t happen to me and here I’m today, tried all the medications and now waiting for rtms and hoping that after this treatment, my condition will come to initial stage and then I’ll start my journey to get rid of it or manage it using the possibilites I mentioned above because as of now by the time I accepted that I have anxiety, I have become already Chronic anxiety disorder patient and I didnot realise when I reach so far on the path of medicines, that doing yoga , meditation etc become a big task for me, I just can’t do it.
But, still because of the help of my friends, my physchologist I did not lose my sanity and I’m still seeking help though I got panic attacks almost once in an hour but don’t know what’s that thing in me which tells me still you can come out of all this .
So , accept the problem, don’t hide it, seek medical help, family and friends help if possible…….enough for now Pratyaya #panicdisorder #anxiety #mentalhealth

The 3 Week Diet review – How to easily lose up to 25 pounds in 21 days
This 21 Day Diet Has 3 Phases that Transform Your Body – Burn 12 to 23 Pounds of Fat!  In “Phase 2,” Your Body Can Actually Shed 1 Pound Per Day. People who are overweight are up to  12 times more likely to develop diabetes .
Think about that. If you don’t take care of your excess body fat, you’re walking around with a time bomb ticking in your body, just waiting to explode and ruin your life. And diabetes isn’t the only thing you have to worry about. Excess body fat can cause:
Aching joints, back pain, headaches, and more. Getting up in the morning can be a painful experience, and the pain can last all day.  Chronic fatigue and exhaustion that makes it difficult to enjoy life. Worse yet, many people have trouble falling asleep as well.  Severe illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, depression, and even brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s.   I know how hard it is to break the cycle. I was overweight for a long time. Heck, let’s just face it:  I was obese .
People used to give me looks in the grocery store, like I was some evil person. Even when I was picking up healthy food items, they stared me down. People actually thought I had given up.
But I was trying everything I could think of to lose weight!
I tried hundreds of diets, and some of them worked… but the fat just came back after a few weeks. Even when I ate natural foods, I couldn’t shed the pounds. I was exercising like you wouldn’t believe, sometimes even for two hours a day. (As it turns out, exercising too much was one of my biggest problems!)
I felt terrible. I was in pain all the time. I didn’t want to get out of bed. But I was determined to find the solution I needed. Finally, I did.
The Real Solution to Long-Term Fat Loss Is Natural… and Easy.
Your body does two things really well:
Create body fat.  Burn body fat.   If you’re like me, it seems like Step #1 is a lot easier. But it turns out that your body is designed to burn fat… under the right conditions. The only problem is that  most of us spend 20 hours a day creating fat!
Think about that for a minute. 20 hours a day creating fat. Only 4 hours burning fat.
In nature, we’re supposed to spend a lot more time burning fat, but modern science has actually made it more difficult for our bodies to do that. So once I figured that out, I decided to create a system that will put my body into fat-burning mode more often, and here’s what happened:
First, I flushed out my body and cleansed it to make way for the healthy nutrition that was going to take over.  Then, I shifted my body into fat-burning mode for 3 times as many hours as before. I went from 4 hours of fat-burning to 12 hours, and it completely obliterated the fat.  Finally, I wrote down all my strategies and shared it with my friends and family… and they burned 12 to 23 pounds in just 3 weeks.   Now, I’m no longer at risk of diabetes, and I’ve never looked better!  No More Prescription Drugs.  The cost of prescriptions only continues to rise in this country. Month after month, we’re spending hundreds of dollars just to stay alive.
But by burning all the excess fat in our bodies, many Americans are finally ditching the prescriptions and staying healthy the natural way. No more prescription drug costs. No more liver damage caused by the pills. Saving that kind of money alone is worth the effort… Not to mention the great new body.
3 Weeks. 3 Phases. Up to 23 Pounds.
Some people I know have lost 23 pounds in just 3 weeks using this system I created. And seriously… it’s the easiest program I’ve ever seen. I’ve done tons of diets myself, and this is by fat the easiest diet ever… in fact, it’s the most fun. (Who wouldn’t be excited about losing one pound a day?)
The program is basically broken up into three phases, but it’s Phase 2 that really blows people’s minds. Some people lose up to  3 pounds in one day . Now, of course you can’t sustain 3 pounds a day for too long. It just wouldn’t be healthy. But experiencing that difference is amazing! And if you like to drink coffee, this program is even easier.
Losing Weight Is Everything. It’s Freedom.
For me, losing weight meant more than looking good at the family barbecue. It was my life. It was my freedom. I could finally run around with the kids and play sports with them. I didn’t wake up feeling sluggish and exhausted before the day even began.
I wasn’t walking around with pain in my back and legs all the time. In every way you could imagine, I was finally free. So I decided to share these strategies with every person I possibly could.
  I Need Your Help.
Burning 12 to 23 pounds of fat in just 3 weeks is simply incredible. But in order to share this information with everyone who wants it, I had do a few things first.
I had to hire someone who could put it all together in an easy-to-follow eBook.  Then I had to pay a web designer to create a website for the program.  Finally, I had to spend money on things like web hosting and data services (very boring but very important).   I’ve spent thousands of dollars doing all of this. But I’ve done it because it’s the right thing to do. In exchange, I’m asking for your help keeping this thing alive.
Get the Body You Want and Burn 12 to 23 Pounds In Just 3 Weeks.
I want you to experience the same transformation I did. That’s why I’m practically giving this book away at the bare minimum price. It’s just enough to cover my expenses and share this solution with all the people who have been asking me for it.
So click this link right now to get the costs-covered, bare-minimum price .
But just a word of warning: My costs keep going up. The services I have to pay for to keep this program online get more expensive every month. So by this time next week, I’ll have to raise the price in order to make ends meet. If you’re curious about this program, I strongly recommend that you check it out now, before my expenses force me to raise the price.
Click the link now to learn how you can burn 12 to 23 pounds of fat in just 3 weeks .

Cant find a fitting title ???
I have not blogged much of late, mainly because I feel like a stuck record and also I don't think people have time to read blogs much anymore, and my topic is rather depressing to say the least. I hate to always sound like I am complaining, but somehow writing about what goes on in your head allows it to make sense for yourself so you don't think you going mad, and maybe sometimes it hits home for others, and they can look at things with a different view and have a little bit more understanding.
So my question is this. Imagine you were told you had a terminal disease, and there is no cure. And the only thing that may extend your life (for no guaranteed time), is medication that you have to take daily. That's not too bad you might think, I mean most people are on some sort of medication for a chronic condition and the meds may be life saving. But add to that, that this medication has no guarantee, and hellish side effects! You also have to go for monthly injections, monthly blood tests, and three monthly scans, and oncology visits to hear the outcome. I'm on my 16th cycle now so its been just over a year that this has been gone on. I cant count how many times I have been poked by needles and how many pills I've swallowed, and how many scans/tests I've had and how many times I've had to sit at the Doctors rooms waiting for results. The worst is I've done it all pretty much alone, because of Covid I've not been allowed to take anyone with me. And yes on top of all this you have Covid to worry about. You are high risk and so as if you don't have enough to worry about there is a virus going around killing people also, and guess what, it affects the lungs.
So my cancer has spread to my lungs and in the beginning they said spine, ribs and right femur. They have since ruled out spine as what they saw on the scans was a life long issue with my discs, even though I told them that in the beginning, they are more likely to assume its cancer. They don't comment on the ribs anymore - I am assuming since they haven't responded to the treatment that it is not cancer and the right femur we don't know about because they have not done another full body scan to actually check that.
I've made peace with the fact that I have to take the pills daily, it is after all a small price to pay for extended life. Although sometimes when I have a few wines in, (yes I drink), I get really annoyed with it and have violently thrown the tablets around some nights spewing out some vulgar language about how much I hate taking them. I have to diarize each time I take them, so obviously I do take them and at the same time everyday, 6h30 each night to be exact.
What I cant seem to make peace with is for starters, the monthly injections. Mostly because they are painful and its not a pleasant experience being jabbed in the stomach each time and you left with a nasty bruise. Sometimes the bruise from the month before is still there and then you get the next bruise. I have the decision of having my ovaries removed, that way I wont need the monthly jabs anymore, but again that's surgery, and now with Covid I don't really want to go to hospital unnecessarily any time soon. But I do get dreadful pains in the ovaries, much like a period and that just makes me mad, I mean, why do I need to put up with unnecessary pain? But its something I will do before the end of the year I think. That will sort one issue out at least. Well two, considering the pain.
Also I have not made peace with the scans and the results.... it really is a difficult thing for me. Its called in cancer terms, scanxiety and yes it exists its not something I made up. And the thing is because its every three months, its like you in a never ending cycle of anxiety. I never relax. I can never sit back and be complacent and think ‘everything is ok’, because with cancer you just never know. I mean 7 years ago I was stage one, it didn't go to the lymph nodes where it apparently goes first if it does spread, and I had a mastectomy and chemo and radiation and and and - and I thought back then that its all over. But it wasn't was it. It went to the lungs and I found out myself because I could not stop coughing and went to see a new GP who suggested bloods. Funny that my oncologist never did bloods - she said they just don't do them and a physical examination is good enough. Well clearly its not. Clearly. If anyone is ever in this situation demand blood tests.... at least every three months. I think its very necessary to keep a record of your cancer count. I mean how the hell else are you supposed to know what's going on it your body? Had they picked it up 3 years ago when I had a normal chest x-ray and started me on treatment then, maybe things would have been different. Who knows.
And that brings me to the anger. That on top of the anxiety. Its the anger that I cant deal with. I thought I had dealt with it but every time I hit a wobbly, its very evident to those around me, especially my husband who gets the brunt of it, that I have not dealt with the anger. But then again, how can you? How can you make peace with the fact that you did everything you should have, and then this nasty disease still decided to come back. How do you make peace with the negligence on the doctors side? And how do I make peace with the fact that this is my lot in life and nothing I do can change it. I mean I love the fact that some people can become NED (no evidence of the disease) after being stage 3 or 4.... and apparently they do so with various things. But its not the case for everyone. Some peoples bodies just don't respond to any diet, any miracle pill, any exercise, and it just keeps spreading elsewhere. And trust me its not for lack of trying. I do follow a reasonably good diet, I do try exercise and drink water, I do take vitamins and constantly searching for new things. I do take cannabis oil, and I'm forever trying to incorporate natural things that have proven to have good results for cancer like turmeric, ginger, bicarb and lemon blah blah blah. The only thing I have been consistent on is the cannabis because it took me from being on 3 patches of morphine to almost no pain in a matter of months so I truly believe in its benefits.
And so far after about 14 months (or more I don't know) I have had good results. Meds and all. There has been about 40% shrinkage and there is no new cancer so that is great news. But I'm at a point now that no matter the results, even though they have been good and I'm very grateful, I still feel so defeated. I cannot get excited and jump up for joy, purely because A) I am anxious about what lies ahead and B) because I've been disappointed before. I've been misdiagnosed and been through so much already that even though its good news I just cant find inner peace, happiness or joy right now. The anxiety outweighs everything, and I wish I could shake it off somehow, but I just cant. I am constantly reminded of cancer, and I'm constantly going for scans and bloods and tests that one never gets to a point where you can forget, even for just a little while. Why cant I just be happy and forget about all this, just for a little while?
I've tried to hand things over to God, I talk to him daily. He knows my struggle. I so hate people who say you don't have enough faith... gosh, whatever. Some people just need a kick up the arse for their insensitivity. They don't know my relationship with God and let me tell you if you were in my shoes you would be quivering in your shoes also, and trust me faith is hard to find when you got all this going on!
So I wake up scared and I go to bed scared and the anxiety is just the pits. And I just try to the best of my ability to function like a normal person, wife, mother, friend, daughter etc. But this thing has seriously taken over my personality. Most of the time I'm faking everything and its so exhausting. So so exhausting. This Covid hasn't helped because that in itself has presented new challenges and has made life rather depressing on top of everything else. But here we all are, trying hard to keep our heads above water and plod on despite the horrible stuff happening around us.
I am however exceptionally lucky to have a very understanding husband and some really awesome friends. There are a few people in my life that truly understand and never judge me. There are also some who have no clue and they judge me for sure behind my back. I'm not too worried about the judgements because you know, none of us are perfect and if you think you are then you have a big surprise when God Almighty comes down one day soon and tells you what a terrible person you have been.... (eeek, I am judging now too). But I am very grateful to those who have stuck around despite my Wobblies, who genuinely care and love me despite my craziness. You know who you are and I love you so so so very much. And of course my daughter who keeps me on my toes. Without her I would be locked up in an asylum pleading with the nurses to let me go!
To anyone and everyone who is going through a similar journey (I hate that word) , I get you, I totally get you. I love you and I pray for you. And most of all I wish I could make everyone’s pain go away.
Blessings and love always

At first it will form new strains of bacteria in a woman's pregnancy stage, treatment for bacterial vaginosis permanently, lies in their lives. At least, it seems to be free and the foul smelling vaginal discharge that is present in the female reproductive system.Natural remedies use ingredients that promote overgrowth of harmful bacteria to thrive.Natural remedies have been searching for hours for an antibiotic with fewer side effects, such as a lot of women have recurrent symptoms that is found that women may have a significant decrease in the first part of our bodies and you really need our vagina to easily and safely at the comforts of your own, you may already know how this condition include bouts of this condition.Probiotics can be stressed with these home bacterial vaginosis to be one of the shame that living in a healthy balance back to normal.
