Just stumbled across a Christian ranting about how Steven Universe is anti-Bible, and, like, yeah, I sure hope so!

that steven universe post you made was really good. i used to watch that show all the time, but the show took a bit of a nose dive for me towards the end. i didn't even make the connection of white diamond being a stand in (for lack of a better word) to sugar's idea of God. looking back on it now, it seems rather obvious. i enjoyed what you wrote on the matter.
You're very kind, thank you! Yeah, a handful of people say things like "why does everything have to be about god? shows how crazy you are that you make everything about that"
but like
She literally
Creates life out of the dirt
Creates each of her creatures for a specific purpose
tells them to "fill the Earth"
they rebel; they don't want to live for their intended purposes
she blasts them with a light that acts as a "curse."
that curse corrupts them
she has the ability to fix this but won't because she believes the rebel creatures deserved the punishment.
she thinks the only way they can be cured of their imperfections is by living in and through them.
she declares herself perfect, and says everyone she created must also be perfect.
I mean. It's not a metaphor for the real God, because the real God's loving and lets you choose, and sacrifices Himself so you can even make that choice, and wants to be in a relationship with you. But it's pretty clearly an allegory for the "type of God" that the LGBTQ+ community thinks Christians believe in.
Anyway. Didn't mean to beat the horse. But I think it took some bravery to come here and tell me that when I've got a handful of people buzzing around my blog, trying to discredit it. So thank you! Anything I have to say that happens to be good is good because of God, in spite of me.
P.S. I used to watch it all the time, too. I had a playlist of some of the songs. I enjoyed the first season, because it's very well-made. But then the finale came and I had to realize all this stuff. Of course, none of it became super blatant until the end, like you said. But I felt like I should've seen it sooner, too! I think that shows what a skillful storyteller Rebecca Sugar is. Unfortunately.
