I've been seeing lots of stuff about the radiant emperor series and I've been undecided about whether I should give it a try. So since I've seen you post about it (and make absolutely gorgeous art), what is your favourite thing about it, without spoilers? :)

OUSHDHGSGHD OKAY there are a lot of favorite things but if i had to pick one id say what the literary critics call “nine dimensional fucked up foils blunt circle” like. every character has motivations, plot points or characteristics that mirror other characters in such a poignant way, both blatantly and subtly. i feel like it’s something so woven in the story and the construction of those characters and i don’t think i’ve ever seen a book that does something like this in such a big scale and pulled it off so well?? like queerness/gender/sexuality/sacrifice/relationship with your own body/death/daddy issues/class/ruthlessness/masculine ideals™️/societal norms/the mask vs the real self/war/destiny etc. just pick one of these topics and there will be like at least three characters connected to it and by extension to each other i just. rotating them all in my mind 24/7 squeezing them like squeaky stress toys

i love love love love LOVEEE soano. like as much as i love liar, liar, i love writing soano sm more (‘cause it’s mainly just crack and less plot 😋 excluding the canon parts ofc). it’s also my first piece of writing altogether, so no matter how many other pieces i work on after both fics, soano will always have a place in my heart my other works will never be able to touch (in the nicest way possible lmaoo 😟)

that being said, i must repeat… it was my first ever piece of work, so i HATEEE my writing when i look back and i’ve been putting off editing it for a whileeee now 🙁

so honestly, take ur time before choosing to read that story. it’s got a lot of editing to go under that i haven’t even begun yet.

but if you do choose to read it… er… read with caution for two reasons:

the writing is so ass and you can tell when you compare it to the quality and level of vocabulary used in the recent liar, liar chapters

Getting complimented for my reading of Usopp is insane I've been mulling over that compliment in my head and respecting people is about respecting their bad decisions as well as their good ones. To respect someone and this goes for fictional characters too you must give them agency in their life. And this is a kind of hard to swallow sentiment especially in fandom but also in actuality. But One Piece actively has Zoro point it out.

I grew up and I grew up around these exact conversations both in reference to fictional characters and abusers, a lot of how I talk about Usopp is also the thing to influence the way I say Judge is a bad protrayal of an abuser in the sense he has no naunce (He's good in other senses and there's much worse out there blah blah using this as an example. Usopp and Judge aren't comparable of course) because to understand and truly recognize ourselves and our behaviours and identify bad behaviours in other people we must respect them. (And Judge is an unnaunced view of an abuser that dismisses any behaviour as one of a monster with no agency) If we view Usopp too negatively for his flaws, that's an issue. If you view Usopp too positively for his flaws that's also an issue because it's blaming Usopp as the sole reason for his behaviour vs. robbing Usopp of that agency to make bad decisions.

Usopp is written to be a person, a mentally ill one, who's agency in his own breakdown is naunced as both a product of experiences that are not his fault and his own agency.

i was never someone to ship a character with two people simultaneously until your warrior nun star wars AU came along and my experience with Lilith and Beatrice was “I hope this doesn’t awaken anything in me”

(of course it did)

what happened was i started thinking ‘hmm, maybe i’ll add one small drop of bealil to this’ and then two days later i was neck-deep in harrow x ianthe brainrot. and lilith was carrying bea in her arms. she was sitting on the beach to capture the sound of the waves for a girl whose life she destroyed (and saved)

i love that they’re a tragedy (and they know it) but the love happens anyway. bea is a shipwrecked sailor and lilith is the deep sea creature drawn to the surface by her struggling.

they make me think (in their moments of grace) of Robert Frost’s poem ‘stopping by the woods on a snowy evening’
