Not to be chronically online but my WHOLE TikTok fyp is this cake drama and really what’s wild to me is how home bakers are essentially insisting that anyone who has a sense of rational budgeting and doesn’t see the value in dropping $100+ on a small cake is like . impoverished basically LOL?
#riv rambles#‘if you can’t AFFORD my 150 dollar cake then yeah I’m glad you can get it for cheaper elsewhere ig’#I can afford u don’t piss me off#I’m just not spending 150 bucks on a CAKE of all things girl I could get AirPods with that money#even AirPods aren’t that expensive like have some PERSPECTIVE#anyway I think businesses can charge what they want but#it is so absurd to me to automatically equate the unwillingness to have a high budget to being broke/poor#that’s crazy#and a little elitist if I might add#sometimes ppl are just logical spenders and would rather splurge on something that’s more important/useful than a CAKE of all things#CAN WE BE REALLLLL

Figured out someone might need it so here's a basic design guide for future fanarts and other stuff:
MY version only:
I want to clarify I'm not some kind of elitist who wants everything done to the stupid Polandball rules I just think they look cuter like silly creatures LOL and a little intimidating at the same time
Most of these are examples, just follow the formula: No hair, No pupils, No ears, No nose, No mouth, round head (Exceptions apply like Nepal, Ohio, Kajistan) (Basically lifeless husk weird fucked up alien)
I want to add: I like to make Countryhumans slice -of-life like and they canonically don't have many fantasy attributes, that's why most of the time when they have wings, ears etc it's from an AU where everyone must have them
Like I say this because some make it like UN or high powers have fantasy stuff which is fine personally I love it, but mine either everyone has them or none
I love AU's!! I should list off every Countryhumans AU I made
Human designs have no rules basically they're just humans LOL

long post beware
the fact that albert is an older brother establishes heavy themes in yuumori, such as responsibility (the burden that albert puts on himself morally/religiously can be compared to the inherent burden of being a first born son) and brotherly duty (the irony of the older brother, classically the protector, being the one to slay his younger brother). it also establishes parallels between albert and william, as older brothers, and og william and louis, as younger brothers (these parallels are FASCINATING, i might make a post about just those).
but i can’t stop thinking about the themes that would be established by og william being older and albert being younger.
(i know it’s narratively improbable because of the complications it would add to the identity switch, so some aspects of that would need to change but this is discussing purely the themes of the matter, so.)
firstly, the relationship between of william and albert. og william would, no doubt, still be classist and elitist and cruel. but, in his mind, that would create no conflict with being a loving older brother (or as loving as og william is capable of). this would create an inner conflict with albert killing him, whereas in the original, there was very little conflict/hesitation when it came to killing og william. however, this would probably be canceled out because of albert feeling like og william betrayed him.
albert, being one to believe in traditional values and set systems (the good should prosper, the evil should suffer, etc.), would most definitely subscribe to the idea of the older brother as the protector (which i reference nonstop in this post). and yet, og william failed. he was supposed to make the world better for albert, to be a beacon of truth, and yet he wasn’t. he was supposed to be good and he wasn’t. i imagine this sense of betrayal would be the main reason albert is able to go through with the murder.
but the parallels! the parallels between the williams! wouldn’t william be just disgusted with og william? the idea that a brother could be so callous as to drive his little brother to this, to murder? the idea that, perhaps, he could be like this? and the fact that he takes on the identity of og william- the fear of og william’s name itself corrupting him? would he look at louis and vow never to make louis turn to what albert had to?
and just. during the final problem, when it becomes more and more clear that william dying is less about the final problem itself and more about needing salvation. would it be framed as og william’s salvation as well? william bears og william’s name identity. does og william die for his sins (again) with william?
and the parallels between albert and louis! their respective betrayals of their older brothers- albert killing og william and louis trying to keep william alive. and then, the themes of the younger replacing the older- albert replacing og william as the eldest son and head of the family, and louis replacing william (and albert too) as M.
and then, with the theme of responsibility- in my mind, albert would still be slightly older than william - a couple months, at most - so he would still inherit most of the estate, etc. he would bear the burden of an eldest son to the rest of the world. but those closer to him, as well as the audience, would know the truth. thematically, this would combine responsibility with deception, and duty with lies. an interesting concept, one that is already explored so well in yuumori, what with almost every authority figure being corrupt and cruel behind the scenes.
and brotherly duty, holy shit. og william, the older brother, the protector and role model, being wicked and broken. albert, the younger son, the protected, disowning him and stabbing him with a stake. william, the older brother, the protector and role model, being ready to kill himself for the sake of his little brother. louis, the younger brother, the protected, proving that he doesn’t need to be protected, going to the person he hates most to beg for his help.
og william and william, both the protectors, except william succeeded where og william failed. albert and louis, both the usurpers, except albert did it out of hate where louis did it out of love.
and don’t even get me started on albert and mycroft. albert looking at mycroft and seeing what a big brother and eldest son should be, should have done, and instead of seeing his own failures (a killer theme, don’t get me wrong) he sees his own brother’s flaws. and yet, he also sees his older brother’s virtue. mycroft raising the idea that maybe, og william was cruel, but he was still loving. that the two ideas can coexist, and while albert doesn’t have to love og william, he does have to acknowledge that og william loved him.
and… just. the brutalism of being killed by your younger brother. the boy you held when he was young, whom you taught how to read and walk. that boy, staring at you with such utter hatred that you just can’t comprehend, that boy killing you.
and the tragedy of killing your older brother. of looking at the boy who raised you, who held you when you were scared, and deciding you don’t want to be his anymore. of realizing your older brother is cruel and evil and killing him, his blood literally on your hands.
and the fear of becoming like that other older brother. you share his name and you watched his little brother be driven to murder because of him. you can’t be that for your little brother, but you still take on his name.
and the refusal to become like that little brother. you watched him kill his older brother and you won’t let that be you. you’ll do whatever it takes to save your big brother, because even if he took that monster’s name, he was your older brother before that.
two sets of brothers. both of them are tales of tragedy. and yet, the second is a story of love, as well. can the first say the same?

I just finished RoN last night and I think the core if this raid makes things "easier" is that imo its smoother.
Like no contradictory mechanics, no memorizing symbols. Its more about pattern recognition and timing then twitch reflexes and pure dps.
So ppl like me who have trouble memorizing symbols but are really good at remembering sequences & patterns had a blast while something like say Vow is an absolute slog for me.
It's interesting to me that Root & Garden both have bad reputations with streames when they both seem to be the most puzzle focused
(me thinks streamers dont like showing their lack of patient to their veiwers)
Root of Nightmares is honestly my favorite Raid I've ever done. Its the first one i want to attempt to get the seal for!
And bc its a different skillset then past raids that i can have an easier time replaying it and enjoying over and over
Yeah, absolutely! The mechanics in Root are simple to understand, but still require a lot of practice and team coordination to execute. You can have one runner do everything smoothly, but if the second runner doesn't, it's a wipe. If add clear doesn't do their job and the adds disrupt the runner, it's a wipe. Pretty much every encounter requires a more or less perfect attempt to succeed. Very little space for mistakes.
To compensate, the mechanics are straightforward and smooth. Not too much juggling of different roles, not too much comm chatter. A lot of people mistake "no need for comms" as "no need for coordination" because they can only concieve of coordination when there's 6 gamer dudebros yelling in their mics and, most importantly for them, when someone has to be a "leader." For Root, you just need every person to understand their role, to sync up with teammates and coordinate through gameplay itself, not comms. Comms are always useful, but for Root you can have multiple people with no mics and minimal need to type something down.
I've seen this mentality with other games as well, most often in competitive pvp. People think that if your comms don't sound like there's 16 monkeys trapped in a cage with a taser, that means there's no team coordination or that something is easy. In most cases, best comms are few and simple so you can focus on your gameplay.
And even with all their yelling about the raid being "easy," dozens of these streamers have not figured out mechanics on the final boss. I sat through Salty's clear actively pulling my hair over the whole team's refusal to LOOK and PAY ATTENTION. Instead, they spent the whole boss fight bitching about things "not making sense," "probably being bugged" and being "a joke encounter with easy dps." All this while actively talking about how they're obviously missing something.
And you know what? Bungie is so committed to inclusivity and accessibility that they made the encounter possible to complete by skipping a mechanic so the streamers can finish the raid. Clearly these streamers are so averse to paying attention and doing a mechanic, and Bungie knows that, so they made an option for speedrunners to do it without having to break their brains on a mechanic that involves one person having to break a boss' crit and telling the team which colour he glows. And btw, skipping a mechanic isn't anything new; for example, being able to completely ignore the scanner augment on Taniks is a feature to speed up the encounter. In both cases, you can skip a part of the encounter and make things go faster, BUT it involves a significant risk and can result in no supers and not enough ammo.
Anyway, Bungie released the numbers!
Total players that entered the raid: 582,428
Unique players that cleared the full raid – i.e., players that got all 4 reward events: 190,459
That's 32%! Barely a third of everyone who tried. This might seem like a lot, especially to elitist goblins, but only one third of everyone who tried, in 48 hours, is not a lot. Also I kept seeing people saying that the number would be higher. Like, people out there genuinely believe that the day 1 was cleared by something like 80% of those who tried. That doesn't even account for hundreds of thousands of players who still aren't trying or raiding at all.
This is a MUCH healthier number for something that is meant to be a community contest and a one of a kind experience that should motivate people to participate. Streamers have invented an arbitrary number of people who are "allowed" to clear day 1 and for them it's 5%. It's a completely imaginary "limit" that only makes sense to them and that Bungie never implied in any way, shape or form. I'm sure Bungie is much happier with more people making attempts (about 130k more players tried Root than KF) and more people successfully finishing it. Streamers can stick 5% up their ass.

Please tell me your favorite thing about Myranda & what her dynamic with Gwayne is like & what you're looking forward to with her story. I am curious about my girl
Smooching your cheek.
I think what I love about Myranda is that she's my Mary Lennox in Westeros. She taps into the sad, moody emo girl that I love and adore from my youth and let's me approach her from the adult mindset, so there's definitely that separation where I can understand her feelings and why she is the way she is in the way I couldn't understand as a young writer (much the same way with Abby). Her backstory is very... IDK trad-GRRM OC girl, but I hope to provide a different take and spin on things without making things feel rehashed or trite.
As for her dynamic with Gwayne? Ooooh I'm not super sure yet But I do know it's a little weird. Gwayne is a cunty elitist who grew up on stories of knights and maidens and songs, plus you add in the fraught history the western coast has with the iron islands and their raiding - although less so in Oldtown since they don't make it that far much anymore without getting caught. Still, the stories persist of when the Iron Islands ruled the whole of the west and into the south, so there's definitely like... sneering 'this is beneath me' bullshit on Gwayne's end. At the same time, Myranda is the daughter of House Marbrand through her kidnapped mother, Briony, and everyone knows that story. So it's like, this weird 'Oh good your back in civilization and isn't it better than the only place you've ever known' kind of tactlessness.
But by the time the two of them meet, Gwayne's been through months of war with the ironborn, and he's lost the boyish idealism of what war is like. Through Myranda, he has to learn tact, he gets to dive into the softer parts of himself, the boyish desire to rescue a maiden and care for her - this guy grew up seeing a loving marriage between his parents (much like Alicent), so there is that hope for himself that he's hesitant to indulge in. Gwayne, to me, is very much what Aegon might have been like if he'd fostered in Oldtown. maybe I should do something like that.
So yes! My favorite thing about Myranda is diving into the sad emo girl of my youth with fresh eyes and a bigger life perspective and her dynamic with Gwayne is a little contentious, and grows to be loving. I think.
She sleeps with a knife under her pillow she'll pull if he pisses her off.
#oc: myranda greyjoy#myranda x gwayne#hotd tag#I've had them as a concept for a hot minute#but now I'm actually poking and exploring how this'll look#and it pleases and excites me

well. now i have a new mmo to play once my laptop gets fixed
not sure whether to thank you for introducing me to a cool thing or place a curse upon your bloodline for giving me brainrot
Honestly it's a little of both don't worry, I understand as I am also cursed myself. Speaking of which, feel free to add me in game if you feel so inclined. I'm always happy to play with new players, help show people the ropes (since there's a TON of potential for what you can do and how you can do it), and I play with a lot of other chill people of all skill levels and time spent with the game;
meaning you've got people who are also just starting out, and people who have been at it for a few months and honestly are REALLY good already lol; alongside people who have played for the last 14 years and aren't like; elitist about it :P
Genuinely, don't be afraid to come off anon whenever you feel comfortable talking to me about it; my inbox/DMs are always open to new friendos and I'm sure the rest of the gang would be happy to hang as well.
We're always excited about new players and such :D
Trust me, I'm not as scary as you probably think, my spiky baseball bat might swing both ways but it doesn't get swung at friends :P
...Unless you try to PvP me in which case I will run away like a bug who is more afraid of you than you are of it.

this is 100% not necessary to read but im putting it here just in case!
• blog info below •
what gets posted?
this blog is for posting metal bands of any kind. mostly photos and links to lesser known and new metal bands! i typically post bands that i personally enjoy, or i might post bands that others enjoy/suggest.
but X band is controversial!
me posting about a band or one of its members is NOT me endorsing their political opinions!
metal is a genre of music that (sadly) attracts a lot of terrible people. i can't change this, and while i try to completely avoid posting bands with terrible people, im not omnipotent and therefore cant know every little fact about every band i come across.
some bands may have had some unsavory opinions in the past. but as long as they are changed people and haven't done something terrible enough to be put on my blacklist (nazi opinions, racism, sexual abuse, etc etc) , i may still post about them. if i post a band that has done something that you feel qualifies them being on the blacklist, please message me!
but that band isn't even real metal!
no elitism on this blog! i dont care what you think real metal is, if you want to go argue about metalcore then go hang out on some metal forums or some shit.
i post any bands that consider themselves metal, or bands where a very large portion of their fans consider them to be metal. there's a lot of different metal subgenres and i don't have time to argue with every elitist about which of them are actually metal or not.
why do you vanish sometimes?
this blog goes on short hiatuses quite frequently. the reason being that i am a human being currently pursuing a degree. so i have very limited time for not only finding bands to post, but also posting them. dont worry, if im on hiatus i havent forgotten about this blog! im just taking a break and i encourage you to seek out other metal blogs to follow as well.
• other stuff •
• no politics or religion on this blog! i dont monitor this blog often enough to really block people unless you start saying weird shit in my replies/reblogs.
• this blog is NOT 18+ so minors can follow. please do not add any nsfw comments to any of my posts, thank you!

Hiii for the fire emblem ask game I was wondering what you would respond to 35 :>
omg hiiii !!! this ended up longer than i thought im so sorry you only asked one thing and yet
35. What’s something you wish Intsys would just stop doing?
i said avatars in the last ask but theres a lot of things i cant stand about fire emblem, as much as i like these games. trying to pick just one is hard but i think im gonna go with revamping the reclass system. i have no idea if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but i think fates class system is perfect. it’s got a good selection of options for each character, ways to customize it to your liking, while still limiting you to a general set. you have options you can change, like marriage and friendship, but ultimately youre still restricted heavily (aside from corrin, but giving you ONE freebie has very little draw backs. plus, you do have to work a LOT for that, so…) this keeps the gameplay of the game interesting because you cannot just class every single character into one broken class (and if you tried, the game is designed well enough to still give you a challenge). there is no turn everything into wyverns meta. not a thing. you have to consciously make your class choices and it adds into fire emblems emphasis on every choice matters!
ok so when what happened after that?
echoes gets a pass because its a remake of an old game, and for what its worth, the pitchfork isnt bad. the games not designed around class customization and skill collecting, so it makes sense they dont give you much. the genderlock sucks, but thats my only fault with it. the REAL evil is in three houses and engage. in games like this, there is such thing as a little too much freedom! i dont really think of myself as a gameplay elitist kind of person but when it starts cutting into the map design and how the game is perceived its just!! three houses is the bigger offender i think, with the game being designed Like That and thus the maps have to all revolve around not knowing what units youll have and thus are much more bland. engage is a lot better about this, pretty much saying if you reclass your units thats just a risk you’ll have to take. only problem is is that class balance in that game is so dumb. ah yes, nerf cavalry so bad theyre a mere shell of what they once were. fliers though? oh theyre fine. they wont break the game again— oh too late already happened. damn that was fast.
if the way three houses or engage handled skills was more similar to fates, i could see how this might encourage more reclassing and thus going in and out of classes which i can see the appeal of. but three houses has way less of an emphasis on skills (with a couple of exceptions) and engage doesnt even let you keep your class skills so. just pick an endgame class and go.
#not saying the classing system in these games are all bad. but there are elements to it i (clearly) dont like#did i have fun with them? yes absolutely. do i still think theyre heavily flawed? yes. absolutely.#asks

I don't really like that they want to focus on the causes they are passionate about, it's way too activist for me. It's like the vegan people who go to grocery stores and dump milk on the floor. Or the stop oil lunatics who block the road and people can't get to hospitals. The energy is exactly the same "the cause I am passionate is important everything else doesn't matter".
TBH the causes they are passionate about are very elitist causes. Yes yearly years is important but there's very little some parents can do. People are living in a col crisis, both parents have to work sometimes more than they wish, and have their children in childcare for more time of the day than they wish. They can't spend as many time with their kids as they would like, they have work, sometimes commute, they have housework. Sometimes it's just not feasible even if they wanted to. Then in comes someone who is the privileged of the privileged. Who has 3 homes, none of which she paid for. Who has house staff, a full time nanny and barely works, to lecture people about how much the early years of your kid is important and how you should focus so much energy and time that you just don't have on that. Without actually offering any practical solution might I add.
Then we have the mental health one. Yes mental health is important, but how talking about how important it is help anyone? Like so many people that I know would like to go to therapy but can't afford it. Or if they live in a country that does have a public healthcare it's incredibly hard to get a therapist because the line of people already wanting is too big, there's never enough professionals to meet the demands. People could not heat their homes this winter, the food is more expensive by the day, the cost of property is going up so much that people can't afford to have housing. For anyone this is horrible for mental health, working yourself to the bone and you still can't have your basic needs met, and if you can there's not much left for anything else. You feel like you get stuck and nothing you ever do is going to help. What are they doing to help people have a better life so their mental health improves? Yep, nothing.
Then we have the climate change thing. Yes Earthshot is an amazing idea, I loved how it focused on getting solutions to the problems. But like the first step to help the issue is REDUCE. And I'm not one to say people shouldn't fly, but there are things that are just unnecessary. The Queen went to Sandringham by train, but William is always going by helicopter. If it was safe and good enough for the Queen, why isn't for him as well? It's very hard to take anything he says about how important is for us to care about climate change, when he can't even give up one of his luxuries that serves no purpose. This is not a trip to a vacation once in a while, or a work trip that is necessary.
What it bugs me the most is that even if Earthshot does provide solution for the problem it focuses on, their initiatives in general do absolutely nothing concrete to help anyone in the UK. It's not like the Edinburgh Awards or The Prince's Trust that actually offer things to the community. They help young people, small businesses, what do W&K foundation do besides help themselves learn and talk about things?
On top of that, they feel like they are too good for the boring engagements, it's not enough impact to their taste. Like bitch what impact your lectures have? If it helped anyone you would have stopped talking about mental health, it's been years and you are in the exact same place.
Cutting a ribbon is not below them. And they should do it. This should be their main job. The UK is not paying their security bill so they can follow their passion, it's for them to serve them, they are glorified public servants they should serve the community not just worry about their own interests. How many activists receive public funded security just to follow their passion? Yeah no one, because that's not what the job is about.
I don't agree with this completely. I do think they need to stop thinking of themselves as activists but the public complaining is part of the problem. Their pre-2017 engagements were considered blank and not big projects. So they went this direction which I am not a fan of.
I do see the importance of their causes though. Early Years is important in a time when children will be raised by daycares and technology. Part of her earlier work has been to spend time with them, take them to nature, and socializing with other parents. The unfortunate truth is that many parents don't value this anymore. It's not about how many homes, nannies or money you have. My parents were pretty much always poor and that didn't stop my mother from giving her all to us sisters. It's because she understood the importance of raising children, giving them time and attention among other things. On the other hand, I have family that have children whose children go from school to daycare to a day home. Society is disregarding the family and the upbringing of children and we can't look away. Early years emphasizes this once more to slow down for children and I stand behind the message.
I am less interested in climate change and all but I think the solutions and award system is good. Although you do have a point with the lack of focus on Britain. But William is supposedly launching a homelessness initiative so I hope that is promising and a cause I care more about.
There needs to be a balance. There is nothing wrong with Catherine visiting schools and nurseries but then she should work more to do other things. They need to expand but their current projects are not bad imo.

Feed the Wolf Chapter 6: Colours (Excerpt)
“Oh, I almost forgot to tell you,” he says almost excitedly, prompting me to turn back to face him. “A little birdie told me the Nightshades are meeting tonight.”
He stands from his chair and walks a few steps towards me. As he does he grows taller and just a little squarer at the shoulders, his arms and legs becoming longer and his clothes adjusting seemingly by themselves to conform to his new body type. His hair grows longer and his face becomes almost blurry, his features indistinct. He appears human, yes, but my eyes can’t seem to focus on his face. It only lasts a moment, though, before suddenly everything becomes clear once again. His face has changed. His cheekbones are a little higher, his brow more pronounced, his nose ever-so-slightly crooked and his jawline bearing the slightest hint of a stubble. I hate it when he does this.
“Want me to listen in for you?” he asks, sweeping his now longer fringe from his face and to the side. The red skin on his knuckles catches my eye, letting me know that he did indeed notice the state of my hands this past week, despite him not mentioning it.
I stare at the reflection of myself, feeling just as uncomfortable as ever seeing him in this state. Back when I first started at Nevermore, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I heard I’d be boarding with a shapeshifter, but I definitely didn’t anticipate a roommate that would learn to mimic my every feature within a day of meeting me. I try my best not to let my discomfort show. I’m not giving him that satisfaction.
“I didn’t get an invite,” I say, sounding almost offended. Of course, I haven’t been invited to any of their gatherings since halfway through second year, if I remember correctly. Still, they never officially kicked me out…
My father was a Nightshade during his time at Nevermore; there’s a picture of him and my aunt up on the wall of their library somewhere. He told me about the secret society when I was young, but I never really realised the importance of the information until he was gone. I retained certain important details – how to get into the library, the existence of a safe behind the portrait of Ignatius Itt – but things like ‘how to join’ evaded me. Still, getting in by myself and proving myself a legacy was enough to convince the Nightshades to allow me to pledge. Looking back, I can’t believe how careless I was in revealing who my father was; it’s a good thing no one there recognised him or my aunt as Hydes. It didn’t take long for me to become disappointed by the group, though. It was clear after just a few gatherings that the once prestigious society had fallen so very far, becoming little more than an elitist social club full of spoiled rich kids. I stopped attending their meetings upon that realisation.
“Do you ever?” Alex asks, bringing me back to the present. “If you did, I wouldn’t have to keep my ear to the ground about this stuff.”
“It’s not as great as it’s made out to be,” I say in return. The group may be secretive, but they honestly don’t offer all that much beyond overly-serious meetings about trivial matters and the occasional private party.
“Speak for yourself!” Alex exclaims. “I for one have greatly enjoyed the gatherings I’ve attended.”
I hesitate before speaking, my mind taking a moment to understand the implication. “Alex… Please don’t tell me you’ve been going to more of them without asking me first.”
He stiffens slightly, his eyes widening just a little as he stifles a reaction. That’s a yes, then.
“At least tell me you weren’t too… out of character.” My mind runs through so many possibilities. “I don’t need more people angry at me for reasons I don’t understand.”
“Oh no! Nothing like that!” His reassurance does little to lessen my concern. “Some of them might just think you’re… Well, let’s just say that Nightshade you is a bit less depressed, y’know?”
“Oh, well that’s fine then,” I say sarcastically. “I’m a Hyde anyway, so why not add mood swings to my repertoire?”
“Come on, it’s not that bad. You never go anyway, and you’re not exactly friends with any of them.” He crosses his arms defensively, betraying his knowing that what he did was wrong. “I needed stories, alright? How else is my blog meant to compete with Enid’s?”
It’s always about the blog… I guess that could probably be one of the reasons I stopped getting invites. I mean, me not showing up is reason enough to stop asking me to come, but it’s public knowledge that Alex and I are roommates. If someone was leaking information from Nightshade meetings, I’d obviously be the most likely suspect.
I sigh wearily. “Well, to answer your question: no, I don’t want you to listen in on the meeting.”
In the blink of an eye, his disguise fades and he becomes himself again. He doesn’t hide his disappointment. “Fine.”
“I might go myself, though. Tell me, when is the meeting?”
He looks shocked at that, his disappointment quickly giving way to something close to fear. “Nine o’clock,” he blurts out. “But if you’re really going to go, perhaps we should discuss your persona.”
“My persona?” I don’t like where this is going.
“Yeah, there’s a few things you should be aware of. Gotta keep consistent, right?”
I find myself pinching the bridge of my nose, the beginnings of a headache creeping up on me. It’s bad enough that Alex has been impersonating me without my consent, but for him to be doing so badly? I shouldn’t have to alter my behaviour to make up for his mistakes. Why do I even want to go to the meeting? Honestly, I’m not sure. Maybe my newfound positive outlook has me more willing to engage with others, or maybe seeing so many others preparing for evening activities has me searching for a distraction of my own. Or, maybe the relatively impromptu nature of this meeting has me intrigued. Most Nightshade meetings follow a regular schedule – once every fortnight on the weekend – but this doesn’t fit that schedule. It’s probably nothing of note, but I’d regret missing out if I’m wrong.
I breathe out slowly and steadily, recentering myself in preparation for what I’m sure is about to be a painful briefing. I look at Alex for a moment then drop my gaze, shaking my head along with a slight chuckle. No use in being annoyed, if I have a choice in the matter. I raise my head to offer him my full attention along with a tired, conceding smile.
“Fine. What do I need to know?”

Darkthrone Ranking
I did this so I might as well post it here too. Maybe it will be the start of some more regular posting (it won’t)
Goatlord
One album I was dreading to get through was Goatlord. I have always hated this album and even time did not make me grow fonder of this abomination. First of all the production is just straight garbage and not in the usually good way for black metal where it adds to the atmosphere. First of all this album was not going for atmosphere in the slightest so it wouldn't even help but everything just sounds grating on top of it, which is a shame because previous albums as well as the succeeding this one don't sound like this so I have no idea why they chose to sound like this. Add to that some real awkward vocal deliveries and you easily get the worst Darkthrone album and also legitimately one of the worst records I listened to all the way through.
The Cult is Alive
Darktrhones first foray into the more crust punk laden style of black metal and black'n'roll was off to a very rocky start. There is nothing much here to write home about and while the album is reasonably energetic for the style it's going for it feels like Darkthrone are still taking themselves very seriously here in a way that does not do this style any favors and so to me this is one of their more forgettable records.
Sardonic Wrath/Plaguewielder
Sardonic Wrath and Plaguewielder are two records I basically feel identical about. Both are some of the least interesting material the band has produced in its black metal era. None of them go for any grand atmosphere, no one song or riff stands out, they feel kind of flat and in the grand scheme of things they are just utterly forgettable.
Dark Thrones & Black Flags
The 3rd album in Darkthrones series of Crust records and it continues where F.O.A.D left off with its tongue and cheek attitude in rocking tracks. While it has come cool echoing vocals on some of the track like Hiking Metal Punks, the album as a whole feels a bit slower and less energetic than its predecessor and the production could also have benefited from a crisper guitar sound like it was on F.O.A.D, it just fits this style much better in my opinion, which is why I enjoy the album a little less over all.
F.O.A.D
The 2nd album in Darkthrone’s series of black'n'roll / crust punk albums fares much better than its predecessor. The riffs are punchier, the music more energetic and they are taking themselves far less seriously which makes for a serious improvement in this case. While many of the usual trve kvlt elitists derided the album for daring to have a sense of humor, I have always appreciated a little silliness, even in black metal, especially when some of the tracks can genuinely make me chuckle. That being said, musically it ain't all that interesting and so it is only by merit of it's humor that it isn't quite as forgettable as other DT records.
Ravishing Grimness
A perfectly serviceable black metal album but coming straight on the heels of Darkthrones greatest material, there was no way it was gonna live up to that standard. While it is by no means as uninteresting as SW or PW (it's got some cool riffs and a good guitar tone) it ain't much to write home about either.
Eternal Hails
Eternal Hails is Darkthrone's most straightforward stab at traditional doom metal, most apparent in the records 7+ minutes songs at the shortest and the comparatively slow tempo the songs have. And while I can appreciate a good meandering doom album and the unique Darkthrone touches like their unique vocals and lo-fi production approach make it a sufficiently novel experience, it also isn't all that much to write home about in the grander scheme of Darkthrones career, so it sits here in a rather middling position.
Hate Them
Hate Them is an album I feel very similarly about to Ravishing Grimness with the addition that it has a much grittier and more punchy guitar sound and better riffs, which makes it the superior of the two of them for me.´
Soulside Journey
Once upon a time, before there was the unholy trinity, Darkthrone was a death metal band and a pretty good one at that. This debut of theirs is not at all dissimilar to the old school death metal of the time like Obituary's Slowly We Rot, with it's rougher production and doomier parts and it can easily go toe to toe with said records of the time. It almost makes you wonder what would have happened if Darkthrone stayed a death metal band and if they would have gone to as great a heights as they would achieve with their black metal output that is to follow.
Old Star
Old Star is a good old doom/heavy metal record tinged with Darkthrones black metal goodness which was re-emerging around this time. Its largely slower tempo and more atmospheric riffing work well with the slightly more lo-fi production compared to previous, even if it trades off for this with less memorable riffs and melodies overall. In the end it's a solid release though.
Under a Funeral Moon
The second album of the unholy trinity opts to go for an even more stripped down production than its predecessors already quite lo-fi approach, creating a more washed out feeling and a much harsher guitar town, which is at once it's distinguishing feature but also it's slight downfall. While it creates a much more bleak atmosphere it is also at times quite the grating soundscape and while it isn't so intense as to ruin the whole experience, it is a significant enough complaint to make it rank lower in the list.
The Underground Resistance
The Underground Resistance is exactly what you would imagine would happen if Darkthrone just ditched most of their black metal roots and made a straight up heavy/speed metal album, and honestly? It goes pretty hard. Killer riffs, nice solos, some epic melodies and even more unexpectedly epic clean vocals for most of the album. It honestly just rips for most of its run.
A Blaze in the Northern Sky
A legendary album which needs no introduction, A Blaze in the Northern Sky is the first of Darktrhones albums which are considered to be the unholy trinity and is also the bands first black metal effort and listening to it you can immediately notice the impact it left. The blistering riffs and tempo together with the lo-fi production and frigid buzzsaw like guitar tone create a harsh atmosphere which is still the blueprint for a lot of raw and lo-fi bm projects which were going to come after this. And while I acknowledge the albums legendary status and influence and do quite enjoy it, some might be wondering how it could not be in the top 5 to which I would simply say that Darkthrone has made a lot more fun albums afterwards in my humble (but correct) opinion.
Circle The Wagons
Circle The Wagons is the best of Darkthrones efforts into the Black'N'Roll style. With a lot more thrash and heavy metal influence sprinkled into the mix than previously we get the crispest production yet, some killer riffs, even some juicy solos and pretty nice clean vocal passages on top. All of this is blended wonderfully with that tongue and cheek punk-y attitude and we got an energetic banger of an album.
Arctic Thunder
Arctic Thunder sees Darkthrone bring back a lot of their black metal stylings, in parts feeling a bit like a semi close relative to the Panzerfaust release, while also throwing in a good helping of their previous heavy metal influence and adding some doom into the mix as well. Overall it results in an album that has always been a low-key favorite of mine, with its vicious riffs and melodies and that good old freezing black metal atmosphere worthy of the album's title.
Astral Fortress
Astral Fortress is Darkthrones most recent release and in my humble opinion also the best that modern Darkthrone had to offer so far. You got the usual buzz saw like guitar, lo-fi production and the typical vocals, so all the usual things I love about Darkthrone. While the album is slightly more laid back in it's tempo it uses this to focus on creating some of the most memorable riff melodies the band has ever had and those just make me want to listen to the songs again and again. Needless to say the album has some great atmosphere too and overall it just makes me look forward to future Darkthrone stuff that is yet to come.
Transilvanian Hunger
The last of Darktrhones legendary unholy trinity records as well as my favorite and one of my quintessential raw/lo-fi bm records on top of it. Managing to strip down the production even further from what Under a Funeral Moon already did paradoxically not only enhanced the atmosphere by several orders of magnitudes but also fixed the grating sounds of guitar and cymbal from UaFM. Add to that some great melodies in this oppressive washed out sound scape and you have a record that really nails that lost in a Blizzard vibe.
Panzerfaust
This record is all the evidence you will ever need to know that Darkthrone could have been the best Celtic Frost cover band to have existed. All jokes aside though, this album has HUGE Morbid Tales era Celtic Frost vibes and as a big fan of that record already I was only ever gonna love this one, especially since I think it is an improvement on that style. The atmosphere is one of the most sinister there is, which is helped massively not only by riffs that sound both evil and epic but especially by Darkthrones most intense and tortured (in the best way possible) vocal performance to date. Overall an album which is a peak black metal experience.

qrow + Winter Schnee ( @eiiskonigin )
As happened every year, Jacques Schnee felt the need to declare how important he was to the world by holding his annual solstice party, and, as she did every year, Winter made her obligatory appearance. It was beautiful, and perhaps that only serves to add to her feeling uniquely out of place – despite that she fits the mold well, wearing white satin and jewelry that sits a little to heavily upon her throat and wrist.
Brothers, she wants a drink.
Winter’s problem arrived in the form of the one person she didn’t wish to see. She wove in and out of the ballroom to try and make her way to the other side without being spotted, without being stopped.
qrow could think of about five hundred places he’d rather celebrate the solstice, filled with about five hundred more fanciful colors than the sparkling, sterile halls of Schnee manor, but he couldn’t miss out on the chance to do some snooping all in one spot. he meanders through the crowd, absolutely irreverent in opposition to Winter’s perfectly crafted demeanor, and smelling just like that tall, strong drink she equally craves as detests.
A familiar figure to Winter’s left, and without thinking, she reaches out, using their frame to briefly hide behind... wine red eyes blink back stupidly as acknowledgment sinks in between the pair, and qrow sets himself up in the tango frame Winter pulls him into.
“Qrow–” She’s breathless still, and she shakes her head slightly, glancing behind him before clearing her throat, “D-Dance with me. Please.”
qrow speaks low, the bite of banter only digs to create a safe space that she could use to air any worries, “…t’what do i owe th’honor?”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
As happened every year, Jacques Schnee felt the need to declare how important he was to the world by holding his annual solstice party. While the people below Atlas struggled to simply stay warm, he would be up there in the clouds, rubbing elbows with the other elitist snobs.
And, as she did every year, Winter made her obligatory appearance.
It was the one event she never seemed to miss, try as she might to have an excuse to year after year. The one time of year when one could spot a glimpse into what things may have looked like, had they played out differently. Every year, she showed up simply for her mother and her siblings. And as time went on, just for her siblings, then just Weiss, and now… Now she isn’t entirely certain why she is there.
The elegance of the Schnee ballroom is monochromatic, moving in shifting tones of whites, silvers, and blues. Crystals and jewels sparkle, caught and refracting in the soft lighting like freshly fallen snow. It was beautiful, and perhaps that only serves to add to her feeling uniquely out of place – despite that she fits the mold well, wearing white satin and jewelry that sits a little too heavily upon her throat and wrist.
Brothers, she wants a drink.
A simple gaze across the room to her mother quickly quenches that feeling, and a low breath escapes as she descends the stairs into the ballroom, trying to force a smile into place. It doesn’t feel convincing, but considering how many masks she can see worn on those around her, she doubts if anyone thinks anything of her own.
It will be quick, like ripping off a band-aid: make her appearance, be seen by those few influentials who she wishes to stay in the good graces of ( the members of the council, of course, and the general should he choose to make an appearance, ) a dance with Weiss should she be there, and then leave before anyone could start whispering about her while she was still present.
The problem with her plan arrived in the form of the one person she didn’t wish to see – and it was that arrival that had Winter panicked ( a rare sight ), and weaving in and out of the ballroom to try and make her way to the other side without being spotted, without being stopped.
A familiar figure to her left, and without thinking, she reaches out – grabs hold of their hand and tugs them along with her to the side, using their frame to briefly hide behind. It takes a moment of catching her breath before clarity returns to Winter’s mind, and she blinks up at the person she had pulled along with her.
Fuck.
“Qrow–” She’s breathless still, and she shakes her head slightly, glancing behind him before clearing her throat, “D-Dance with me. Please.”
The plea in her voice is evident, and she just hopes that for once he won’t tease her for an elaboration. The story is not one she takes pride in sharing.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
it wasn’t as if Jacques’ message wasn’t loud and clear all over Remnant, all within the prosper and the decay, and with Schnee dust logos plastered over both. qrow could think of about five hundred places he’d rather celebrate the solstice, filled with about five hundred more fanciful colors than in the sparkling, sterile halls of Schnee manor, but when he’d been invited by some marketing so-and-so who thought an elite huntsman equaled business opportunity for some more dust, or sponsorship, or PR, or… something… frankly, he tuned out a third way through the spiel, but anyway, he couldn’t miss out on the chance to do some snooping all in one spot. especially, with Ironwood acting so out of sync as of late, and Winter with one less sibling around.
a turn around the ballroom could reveal almost as much as a round in the sparring ring.
(and if he’s honest with himself, he might not mind, for once, if Misfortune felt like busting up some windows or crashing a chandelier or turning the ankle within a shoe all-too-ready to step on their fellow man or faunus.)
qrow meanders through the crowd, absolutely irreverent in opposition to Winter’s perfectly crafted demeanor, and smelling just like that tall, strong drink she equally craves as detests - dressed in his typical scuffed up monk boots and an untailored tux swiped from the butler’s closet; dress shirt not even buttoned all the way up, and with the black bow draped loosely around his neck rather than tied. he had little tolerance for feeling tied up or choked.
likewise, he has half a mind to pop that pretty diamond choker fastened around Winter’s neck right off; free her and sell it for a pretty penny. yeah, he was staring. can you blame a man of the shadows for being drawn in by the light, especially when it comes wrapped in a skin tight skirt around the hips? darker thoughts assume it’s his gaze that sent her disappearing into the crowd. that icy shock of fear sits about right for most when they notice he’s near. he turns away with a rough, wistful sigh only to feel warmth around his wrist, and a forceful tug of his feet towards the dance floor.
wine red eyes blink back stupidly as acknowledgment sinks in between the pair, and qrow sets himself up in the tango frame Winter pulls him into, one palm resting on the small of her back, the other lifting her hand to shoulder height, and elbows squaring into steady stance; he guided their silhouettes to align, sheltering her, as requested. weak, as always, to a woman in need.
“a dance with the Ice Queen, eh?” whiskey breath huffs between crisp head turns and the start of a one-step. though he looks nothing of the part, he yet moves with the same precise, elegant steps and long-legged turns he’d enact on the battlefield with Harbinger instead of Winter, to the beat of the music instead of the clash of blows. both lady partners he can easily lead and lift in smooth, skilled rhythm.
qrow speaks low, the bite of banter only digs to create a safe space that she could use to air any worries, in whatever depth or code she likes; he pries with intent of protection, “…t’what do i owe th’honor?”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Her heart is racing a little too quickly to think better of this, to consider the thought that he owes her nothing – to think that he would be well within his rights to walk away from her that very instant, and she would hardly blame him if he did. He owed her nothing. He accepts her hand nonetheless, draws her into position as if it took no thought at all.
She can forgive that dreaded nickname this time.
“Protection,” comes her response, falling a little too easily as she follows his lead with a practiced ease. For a breath, she is almost surprised by how well he found the rhythm, and she finds herself wondering just how often he finds himself dancing, to find it so natural. “…I saw someone I would… really rather never speak to again, and he’s less likely to approach if I am with someone.”
It had been chance that she had found him, a sliver of good luck – although she was loathe to admit it. Still, she confesses, and after only a moment of setting her jaw in irritation, “…and of all the people in this ballroom right now, you are the only one I trust.”
Their trust was one borne of proximity and little else, but it was there. She trusted that Qrow would not leave her to the wolves, certainly not this particular wolf. Qrow had fangs of his own, and was just as capable of tearing her to shreds, but she found that she didn’t need to fear him the way she did these Atlesian elite.
She could only hope that wouldn’t turn out to be a mistake.
Quick to change the subject, Winter meets Qrow’s gaze again – head tilting slightly for only a moment before turning her attention outward again, “I wasn’t even aware that you could dance. I’m actually impressed.” No, of course, she needed to get at least one taunt in amidst all of this. It was too strange, otherwise.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Protection.
never have qrow’s hackles raised so quickly as in response to that one word from Winter in a worried tone, verbalizing his suspicions.
it takes more than a little to shake up this woman (else he wouldn’t take such pride in managing it himself). his grip tightens and skeptical eyes squint. he can use the aloof expression and head snap turns which go along with this dance as advantage to continue scanning the room.
he wonders if the universe laughs at it’s own joke - how he always seems to show up right on time, with Misfortune to mess something up. not yet, at least, his steps stay sure and his mind stays sharp. (as do those fangs).
Winter must be hard pressed for it to fall to him as first in line for trust, and yet not misplaced. his bullying tags her on the playground for mutual amusement, challenge, attention. the others in this room would shove her flat on her face only to step on her back. they are not in the schoolyard now. he would not betray the chance to do good by her. no, his hand remains firmly and respectfully placed at the small of it, supporting her.
he winks when their gazes meet, “i’ll take that as a compliment.”
he sets her out for a spin, showy in his own form and in a way that sets her skirt floating out, before drawing her back in, “believe’t or not, atlas’sn’t th’only school t’require ballroom. took some extra lessons with Oz.”
he doesn’t hate to admit the man had been right about how easily the patterns, anticipation, and body positions fit into fighting, how much qrow used them.
his next move dips Winter, his hand on the outside of her thigh, low, holding her knee in position only, he grins down at her, “learnin’ some discipline did me good.”
he can already hear her scoffing. hey, if he’s this way now, just imagine how he was before. besides, a little recklessness might come in handy by the end of the night if this guy does try anything…

"Most people I talk to on Earth are mutants," he says with a half-shrug. Let the other man add 2 and 2 together. "I don't talk much with humans." No matter how one sacrifices for survival, those lucky enough to seek any form of education may show themselves to be a little elitist when an outsider like Gav lacks cultural references of this world. It doesn't happen that often, but enough to leave a mark on his mind.
"My thoughts. I believe it is quite wrong. There is hope, no matter how dire a situation might seem." He sits comfortably. "I was a slave, stripped of my individuality, stripped of my family, my friends. There occasionally seemed like all hope was lost, yet I endured and kept on hoping."
A pause. "Now I'm a free man."
ㅤㅤGood thing he'd asked, the impression Ryouta had gotten from the other's reaction was more than occasionally. A scowl flickering over his brow as he gets a feel of Shatterstar's emotions. " Were they other mutants? " It would be foolish if that were the case, wouldn't it? So many of them made sacrifices to survive & felt they couldn't go to Xavier's school. No matter where they come from.
ㅤㅤA slow grin curves across Ryouta's lips, followed by a low chuckle moments later. Shifting easily into a playfulness with a blink of an eye, the emotion reaching his blue eyes. He's in no rush in figuring that out.
ㅤㅤ" That would have been a travesty. " Not that it wouldn't happen, he has many qualities that'll get him pushed out of people's lives. Whenever it doesn't happen, it's always a shock. " Without that being an issue, what are your thoughts on the quote? "

Are we not gonna talk about how the new monster high team favorites other minorities over other minorities for profit?
Clawdeen was a dark skinned black girl ( darker black people where put down on American plantation compared to lighter/mixed blacks) but they changed her to a mixed black girl because mixed girls have more white features and they know that's popular. I mean look at Disney poc they are usually mixed.
Draculaura was a Eastern European who wasn't ashamed of her culture and never really assimilated into Americana culture, she kept her accent and never hid the fact that she was from Transylvania and had to be a refugee (historically eastern Europeans have always had to hide the fact they where from the "old land" because elitist did not favor them and they would be given poorer jobs) but they change her to Asian because currently America is kinda having an obsession with Asian culture I mean look at all the girls Asian fishing and k-pop
I know Draculaura is not a poc but as someone who spoke with an accent and got bullied by American kids i always appreciated the fact she was not trying to hide who she was
Lagoona is a forigner in America but not necessarily a minority that has faced historical discrimination, she fits in pretty easy in our modern Anglo world where all forced to live in, but none the less it just seems shitty to replace her for Latina representation when her new character is white passing, it's colorism all over again. It just seems like MH is doing tokenism Latina representation because they couldn't even make the Latina character her own individual character they used lagoona. It seems pretty sus out of all the races to change her with they choose one of the largest minorty demographic in America. (Not that they dont deserve representation but do you see how capitalism is like a driving force here and how they might not actually care about actual poc) Kinda like they are doing this for profit and forced diversity.
Also notice how MH has only race swapped foreigners (not Americans) ...... literally Frankie who was born less then 5 days ago can honestly be race swapped no problem. Like it wouldn't be hard to color code their character. 😐
The MH team is replacing minorities with currently more "popular" (for lack of a better word) minorities and I'm not saying that means they shouldn't add other minorities to the main cast or that these minorites dont face discrimination but I'm saying it seems wrong to replace and change a character after kids from all around the world have resonated with them already
These characters related to the real world like actual geographic locations and to just change it all the sudden is fucked up. One of the things that I liked about monster high is that these characters didn't fully assimilate into popular American culture, but now monster high is picking and choosing what diversity they want to show just for profit
The new mh diversity is so fake and clearly favors modern beauty standards
But im definitely not saying the old mh is perfect I mean I made a whole post about it
Anyways you people defending the gen 3 better listen to older Black,Latina, and Indigenous people cuase I can speak for the majority when I say that we think the new mh is slacking. We've literally been pushed to the side since we where kids called ugly for our features and experienced colorism and know that what the new monster high is trying to pull off as diversity is less then before. It's literally not a nostalgic lense we are seeing through but we are people with actual experience of being poc for like a long time. We aren't 12 year olds that are grasping for any little thing that corporations will try to tell us is adequate representation anymore.
Also just because a character is not apart of the initial main cast doesn't mean they have to make less dolls of that character or less content.
I mean look at Abby she was able to sneak her way into the main cast even tho she wasn't wave one. I mean somehow this girl is on merchandise with the main cast ?

Bratz which is honestly a reboot done right compared to MH makes NEW( not reproductions)dolls of their LGBTQA and POC characters even tho they aren't the main 4

If the mh team don't fit their og poc characters in merch that's on them
#monster high#mh#clawdeen#Draculaura#lagoona#colorism#minorities#race swap#rant#sorry for no pictures but half are leaks or teasers and i just feel werid using them#look im literally one of the minorities that got favored but i can tell you this shit aint right#americanism

Anyway, in other news, its been awhile since I indulged in exploring how much MORE you can pack into the Robin name and mantle when you just go ‘hmm why must it be only one thing’ instead of being like ‘is Robin a reference to Robin Hood or his mother’s name for him because he was born on the first day of spring.’
I always love characters who embody the ‘three-in-one’ archetype shared by various goddesses, witches, fates, tricksters and more, and so I’m always like, I see you your two possible reasons for the name Robin and raise you a third: Robin Goodfellow aka Puck, the mercurial trickster fairy of a Midsummer Night’s Dream.
After all, Robin is easily as much a spritely trickster figure for Gotham as he’s a bird in flight or a crusader for the disenfranchised.....
So I say, add that to the list of things Robin represents for Dick Grayson, and what it means in his eyes:
Its a name to honor his mother, who called him her little Robin, a bird born to fly on the first day of spring.
Its a name to honor Dick’s childhood hero, Sir Robin of Loxley, the infamous Robin Hood who took from the haves to give to the have-nots, someone who availed himself of any possible opportunity to act as a great equalizer.
And it could just as easily be a name that speaks to how wit can triumph over even the most mighty - that the hero of the story can win with a trick and a clever turn of phrase, even when outmatched in numbers, strength and size by a Goliath expecting to crush a David underfoot.
Might makes right, is the narrative everyone tried to push on Dick Grayson from the moment his parents died.
Robin was his answer to that.
Dick Grayson’s way of saying mmmm, hard disagree.
It doesn’t have to be like that....if you’re clever enough not to be boxed in by others’ so-called might.
It doesn’t have to be like that.....if you’re willing to fight to protect others who don’t have the means to defend themselves when the so-called mighty come looking to steamroll right over that.
It doesn’t have to be like that.....if you’re a boy whose parents raised him to believe otherwise, and who won’t let any ‘might makes right’ assholes turn their loss and absence into some kind of teachable moment that claims they were liars or just plain wrong.
Might makes right, said every elitist, entitled, power-hungry, megalomaniacal, exploitative, misery-seeks-company asshole to ever roll through Dick Grayson’s life, Gotham, Bludhaven and more.
And Dick Grayson’s response has always been to roll his eyes, put on a fucking cape, and jump in between those douchebags and any other hapless victim whose situational powerlessness drew them like moths to a potentially exploitable or victimizable flame.
Even if all he had in his bag of tricks was a laugh, a leap and a slingshot.....
When has he ever needed more than that to leave his mark?
So who is Robin:
A mother’s son, a hero to the people, an urban folktale?
A symbol of hope, a champion for the downtrodden, a legend too fanciful to believe?
A survivor of his own tragedy, an avenger of the tragedy of others, a cautionary tale for those who aspire to leave tragedies in their wake?
Everyone seems to have their own answer to that question. Everyone seems to have their own opinion as to who he is, what he is, why he does what he does......
But rarely does anyone ever think to ask him.
The funny thing is, Dick himself probably doesn’t even know what he’d answer, if someone ever did.
Maybe he’d just laugh. Maybe he’d just shrug. Maybe he’d lie.
None of the above, he might say. All of the above, he might decide a minute later.
“I don’t know,” he might decide at last, with a shrug.
“I never did like when people try and put me in a box.”

If you wanna be serious about this lord, I’d actually go along the lines to say that would be a big no no.
like. Elle must consistently live in somewhat fear that someone could just. Literally kill her if they wanted too. Like it’s not just putting her to sleep. She doesn’t breathe or anything. She just. Shuts off. Completely.
like remember when Robecca got fucking murdered and no one gave a shit (like literally her body peices were scattered for 100 years in very obvious places and no one even looked??)
it’s probably a think Robots live in someone fear off. The fact they don’t live organically like other monsters.
For Robecca it’s probably a more physical fear. Like if the two dudes crushed her again. Or if someone were to hold her down and unscrew her bolts. Or even the temporary fear of running off water for her steam boiler or lighting the coals for her fire box. It’s trained into older robots like her to always check on her own mechanical supplies.
but updated monsters like Elle? They’re supposedly so high and might and upgraded, but really they’re the easiest to destroy. David and Goliath nearly. All someone has to do is press one little button and she’s gone to the world.
Add on her random but frequent enough Seizure tic attacks, and that red buttons probably like. A mega no no. Like it’s a thing of trust. She probably keeps a little distance between her and others just cause of this. Any monster who is allowed closer should know the honor it is. And should understand how big of a no no that button is. Cause that fear is valid.
like one is some random robot hater just walked up and popped the button when no one was looking. She could be out for years if no one knew where she was!
so it’s probably like. Super easy for Elle and Robecca to be near each other. Even though they probably have some veiws on each other. Cause like. Robecca is probably seen by more recent robots as trashy and junk. Primitive in robot eyes. The fact she (I swear she does) has ADHD and the random tendency to loose function over her balance module probably doesn’t help tbe gap.
and Elle is probably seen originally to Robecca as some elitist robot snob. Who doesn’t work for anything and thinks they’re better then her.
but Elle also has her Seizure/tics (still trying to figure out what to call her little ‘on the fritz’ glitches)
but they both bond over their freaky flaws. And fears of being dismantled/disarmed. And so yeah. Robot besties. (And possible lovers in a a world where Venus and Luna didn’t exist. Cause let’s be honest Robecca x Venus and Luna x Elle is obviously canon)
damn. I kinda ranted here. Welp! Not uncommon for me! Hope you enjoyed
do u think elle eedee has ever gotten into an argument where the other monster got so frustrated they jst *tap* pressed her forehead power button n switched her off in the middle of a kfc
