“they are supposed to be, yes.” rafayel murmurs, hands gently carding through the strands of your hair. the desert is quiet tonight, not a single howl of wind, or a curious fennec fox or gerbil, race across the expanse of sand. the only sounds in your ears are the mingled breaths and synchronised heartbeats of you and your dear abysswalker, tangled beneath the sheets in your shared tent.

his blue-pink eyes stare, searching your gaze. the dark circles beneath them are prominent in the shadows cast by the silvery moonlight. you watch as he takes in a deep breath, and then exhales: "... what books did amund give you today, my love?"

"you know very well that all amund gives me are books and scrolls about lemuria," you huff, thinking of the stack of dusty old books the old man had shoved into your hands at noon, "which would not bother me, if he did not sneer so condescendingly while he gave them to me."

"alright, alright." he sighs, there will be things to discuss with amund in the morning, if the slight exasperation in his tone is anything to go off of. and then, he asks, voice gentle: "what did you learn about the gods, my heart?"

" OUR GOD OF THE TIDES HATH BEEN TAINTED. HIS SKIN HATH BECOMETH SPECKLED. HIS HEART HATH BEEN SURRENDERED. NAY LONGER PERFECT IS HE, WHO IS'T HATH, IN LOVESICK FOLLY, GIVEN BOTH LIFE & DOMAIN. "

"they say you are no longer perfect." you murmur, brushing your lips against his jawline, "using their definition, perhaps they are right. you have scars, and little beauty marks."

"the scars are inevitable. you should know it yourself, my heart." he sighs, solemn, "but they dissolve with us during each seamoon ceremony — i am not reborn with the scars of my past."

"and the beauty marks?"

he hesitates, a bit. there's a far-away look in his eyes that you've grown used to seeing. "they persist and accumulate." rafayel states eventually, as if it's fact, "new ones appear, but i never lose them."

"you never lose them?" you echo, and he nods.

leaning into him, you inspect his face as best as you can in the moonlight. your lips graze his cheek, right above where one lies below his eye. another lies at the tip of his nose, and you repeat the action, rafayel's breath hitching beneath your touch. another sits at the bridge of his nose, and you feel his eyelashes flutter against your skin as you continue.

"there is something about them, in the books." you start, a hand coming up to cup his cheek. rafayel leans into the warmth of your touch (after all, you think, grimly, a stray dog will take all the food it is offered, afraid to go hungry again), and you continue with a smile against his skin, "they say that they represent where your lover loved to kiss you, in your past lives."

rafayel hums, holds you ever closer in his arms, considers the thought. when he falls silent, you know he is aeons away; somewhere below the waves, somewhere thirty thousand years away—you patiently wait for his return, like the shore that welcomes a weary sailor home. a gentle kiss is pressed to right above where his heart should be, and another in the middle of his collarbone. it's instinct, second nature, as natural as the way waves lap at the shoreline and leave seafoam in their wake.

"perhaps there is some truth in that." he finally says, returned to your side from his reverie. he presses a kiss to your temple, a gentle smile against your skin, "after all, it seems you still do as you used to, even now. determined to uphold tradition, are you?"

( & aeons ago, beneath the waves, lies the first mark; the first bearer of sin in eden. a young god of the sea laughs, a rumble in his chest, as his beloved kisses right above where his heart should be. every touch is reverent, like tending to an altar. it is no wonder, then, that he entrusted his heart to such a devout worshipper — after all, it will be in loving hands. )

I drew Seamoon in Splatoon for one of my instagram accounts and figured I’d post it here too. Explanation and details below the cut :)

I went with Sea Fairy as an Octoling and Moonlight as an Inkling because I thought their personalities matched well with the general personality of each species.

Definitely the funnest part of this was figuring out their hair would work, and it was very fun to draw. I didn’t feel like sorting through the hundreds of clothing options to find something in-game that they could wear, so I just Splatoon-ified their regular outfits. I think it turned out pretty well!

As for their weapons (which I definitely did not trace, no sir) I went with a charger for Sea Fairy because I like the image of her as a sniper. The Splatterscope was kind of a random choice tho. And for Moonlight, I mostly just chose the inkbrush because it looks a bit like her staff, but I think it fits her pretty well.

I haven’t thought much about them beyond designs, but I think they’d live in Splatsville.

Rising Charcoal AU idea comp Number 1

(just because I'm stressed tbh)

No guarantee there will actually be more

None of these are 100% canon yet, although some are definitely likely

Not tagging for characters because ehhh (might later, probably won't matter much by then tho)

Putting it all under more cause there's a decent bit

• Burning Spice's main weakness here is actually Smoked Cheese- they share a life force so if one runs out, the other's will come crashing down. He's pretty hard to kill, except for the fact that Smoked Cheese is basically his achilles heel. Fortunately, one that can actually fight back. Still not great for him. This would also be the main reason that he doesn't just wipe out the Sand Slices immediately and leave, considering the sandstorm will stop if Powder Cheese dies. Smoked Cheese can just be killed if worse comes to worse.

• Also seems like he has monster nerd potential- the Spice Swarm seems to mostly be monsters. So Powder is REALLY surrounded by nerds now.

• Decent chance Burning Spice ends up having a huge crisis over his lack of strength. The others aren't happy about their new weakness, but him especially. Being the Great Destroyer was his entire thing, and now he's trapped in a cage without the ability to escape. He's back in the fucking building, one could say.

• Powder Cheese has the same vibes as Sherbet and Wind Archer, minor deity of a major elemental (referring Wind Archer when it comes to nature here, since to all my knowledge Millennial is the main plant god. Don't really play OB tho so...).

• Debating on Raspberry's and Tiger's inclusion in Eternal Sugar's beginning arc (Snapdragon is in it for sure)

• Trying to find out a good "dragon hunter leader" character, problem is I don't know who to put in that slot because this AU takes place post-Dragon update, while not wanting to include OCs because COF is OC heavy, and not knowing enough about Ovenbreak (I want to keep this mainly CRK central). Aka, suggestions appreciated. I have an OC ideal if I really have to, but I don't want to if I can find a good alternative (tempting tho).

• With that said, outside of COD and seldom other characters (maybe I will stress), the only really big OB characters I see getting into this AU is Ananas, Lotus, and Lychee (Longan is probably a no). Don't count on it in the slightest though (this AU has 50 dragons in it by accident anyway).

• Debating between whether to make evil Seamoon evil yuri or tragic yuri. I kinda like the idea that after both got corrupted, they fight now. Instead of the tides longing to be near the moon, they want eachother dead. I think it's funny, they aren't corrupted to the same side after all.

• I thought it would be interesting to switch the Gem Mermaids' alignments. Black Pearl has become more neutral over time as everything else has become more chaotic, not returning to being White Pearl, but Seafoam Pearl now. On the other hand, after Sea Fairy corrupted, she gathered the other Gem Mermaids to her command. There was much resistance, but it seems they have fallen in time.

• Stormbringer is corrupted from the murder of the other weather deities, all happening due to her severly underestimating Dark Enchantress. Ever since, she has thrown away her pride for great wrath. Everyday she searches for whatever may be left of the Black & White dragon, fearing the few things she has left will fall to it. Unfortunately, it seems that Affogato and Strawberry Jam got to them first, and in a weakened state. Yet, not to kill them.

• Speaking of the Dark Cacao kingdom saga, Mystic Flour needs actual first arc friends in this AU. Affogato and Strawberry Jam will be her friend for a little, but y'all can probably guess what will happen to that relationship. I have a few ideas, but I need to do some reading before even stating anything.

• Strawberry Crepe and Black Raisin are working together, but from a distance. Strawberry Crepe was able to lie their way back into the COD as a secret agent, and now works on the Ultimate Cookie project, trying to do everything they can do to stop it. Unfortunately for them, they haven't gained enough trust to go unwatched long enough to actually do much. The few moments their free, their sneaking a message to Black Raisin (crow mail) or trying to, as stated, stop the Ultimate Cookie project. They're trying to help Silent Salt in Beast-Yeast, but they've only been under more surveillance as the Ultimate Cookie becomes close to completion. They know exactly where Elder Faerie is, but don't ever get the opportunity to tell Silent Salt before finding out for themselves. Black Raisin is in Crispia helping out a new survivor group (right under Pure Vanilla Kingdom stopped being sage enough to live years ago).

• Pastry and the St. Pastry Order fighting against the Cake Monsters? Maybe? Idk gotta read the lore, I'm doing something with them for sure (gotta figure out what exactly I'm doing with Shadow Milk, might wrap Pastry and some other non-main chapter Epic Cookies into that)

Also I am working on a storyboard for a possible Rising Charcoal animatic. Might finish the storyboard, probably not the animation. Will show the storyboard if I finish tho, even if it's bad.

After scrolling through the milkyam tag for a bit on this site, I saw the argument of milkyam shippers being racist and it reminded me of the argument of seafire shippers being homophobic and both arguments feel like a joke taken seriously by seamoon shippers and people who don’t like milkyam

I finally decided to get around to doing his sketch, so I can finally show him, this is Evening Tide Cookie

He’s pretty much been done since July, same day as Black Choco, I just forgot to do the last bit

So anyways, his name is pretty much just Evening -> night, aka Moonlight, and Tide -> sea, aka Sea Fairy. I’m just now realizing the thing I was probably actually thinking of was eventide, but whatever, Evening Tide still works

I don’t really have an image to show of that

So on to his design, I was on a plane when I was drawing him, so I didn’t have ready access to references, but his design was mostly based on Moonlight and Sea Fairy’s Legendary costumes in Kingdom. Later when I got back home I pulled up references and tweaked his design to better match

I remember the hair giving me trouble, and to be honest I’m not sure I got it looking the best, it does still look a bit too much like Sea Fairy, at least in shape. But ah well I suppose, his hair is supposed to be like the sea at night, so I suppose it works

Oh wait I think I forgot to add back in the extra stars in his hair. Ah well, might fix that later

I also remember the eyes were giving me trouble, since I wanted to make them look like Sea Fairy or Moonlight, but also not look like a woman. I tried smoothing them out and getting rid of extra eyelashes, and I think it worked well enough

I think his design works well enough, I like it

So on to Evening Tide himself. Basically he acts as a guardian of the sea, like what Sea Fairy is supposed to be. Generally he’s a reserved and hardworking individual who takes his job very seriously. He’s quiet and probably doesn’t smile much. He also generally dislikes land Cookies more than sea Cookies, and if they disturb the sea he will act against them

I’d say he gives similar vibes to his uncle Stardust. Not entirely the same, but similar

He’ll be seen gliding across the surface of the sea during the moonlit nights. Some think he’s an apparition or just a myth, but many sea Cookies know he’s very real

The most curious thing about Evening Tide is that he only ever appears during the night, he is never seen during the day, not even by sea Cookies. No one knows where he is by day, but by the time the sun sets he will appear (truth be told I don’t know what happens to him during the day, he’s either asleep, turns into sea foam, he physically doesn’t exist during the day, or something else)

Also if any of you remember my original seamoon kid Moon Pearl Cookie, that would be his little sister. They don’t see each other much, but they do get along very well

Anyways, I think that’s about it for Evening Tide, hope you like him

So, Since Moonlight and Sea Fairy were together again in Cookie Run: Kingdom, Got any headcanons about their relationship and themselves?

Their bond story in Kingdom did help me a little with thinking about how they met lol

I will say though that I personally don't ship Seamoon but I like to keep their relationship on this blog open to interpretation so people who want to ship can and people who don't don't have to

That applies to these headcanons as well

- Sea and Moon first formally met when Sea's curse was broken

- They first started out meeting some nights and look at the moon together but separate; Sea on the surface of the ocean singing lightly and Moon in the clouds listening and thinking

- Sea Fairy and Moonlight bond over their shared feelings of a longing for something they can't have; Sea wishes to reach the moon and Moon wishes to see the wizards again

- After Sea met Moon, Moon tells Sea what the moon is like and in turn Sea asks Moon what the wizards were like so Moon can reminisce

A side headcanon going off of that:

- Moon is the Cookie embodiment of the moon but she herself is not the moon; they do, however, share a relationship in that the state of the moon effects Moon herself and vice versa

- Even after meeting, the two will still meet up and spend nights sitting in silence or talking lightly just the two of them

- Moon likes Sea's singing voice and thinks she should sing more; Sea is too embarrassed and shy to sing to anyone except Moon or the other two

- Sea and Moon also bond over being the two eldest of the Elemental Four

- They both make an excellent team in babying Fire Spirit and Wind Archer, though they both dote on Wind the slightest bit more as he's the youngest

- While other Cookies aided in breaking Sea's curse, Moon was most responsible

- While Sea is closer to Wind than Moon, she did meet Moon first (same with Moon and Fire; Moon is closer to Fire but she met Sea first)

- While Moon and Fire make a very chaotic duo, Sea and Moon make a chaotic duo of their own that Fire and Wind try to stay away from

seamoon shippers are not rude, but rather the fandom is more at fault for stereotyping these fans to be the most toxic people to ever exist when it's not true. i've seen more ignorant sf x men shippers who disregard her heavy lesbian-coding without THEMSELVES being toxic to seamoon first.

seamoon fans are annoying at worst, but they have never gone out of their way to send death threats over anyone who ships seamoon. if anything, they're literally just minding their own businesses.

while they make their own posts regarding the issue with lesbophobia over sea fairy's m/f ships, i've only seen them go into sea fairy x men shippers' inbox specifically to let them know that what you guys are doing is harmful since there are plenty of other female cookies you can ship with men, but instead choosing one lesbian character for you to seriously ship with.

other than that, i have not seen a single toxic seamoon fan act like a manbaby over ships in your inboxes that make them uncomfortable.

long story short, anyone who ships sea fairy with men are the toxic ones here. they shit on seamoon the most.
