Flipping back to part 2 in HI3. I went over to it when I thought catching up would be required to get the free Elysia, but then it wasn't, so I went back to pt 1. But now it really is required to get free gems, so okay fine let's try to get it done. Chapter 4.

Dreamy's single-track focus on "Where's my girlfriend" and completely ignoring whatever Vita's trying to get her to do is what I wanted to see from Stelle in HSR 2.1.

That said, I have just as little clue now what the actual plot here is as I did what was going on in Penacony in 2.1. Why does she need to relive this simulation over and over?

Y'know if Theresa et al are willing to see Dreamy as a real girl despite being an artificial being they made (right?) why don't they grant that same consideration to everyone else inside the simulation? And, like, not make them relive their entire existence of suffering over and over for (whatever purpose) because that's kinda inhumane?

It's really annoying how you can't open any of the menus during story missions in part 2. I can't even tell if I'm still in the first section of the chapter or if it's been autoplaying into later ones. (Really hoping it's the latter because god these are so long)

Hey cool, I have learned a tiny bit of Chinese. Just heard Theresa say 好累 (Hǎo lèi) and matched it with the caption of "so exhausting" because it's one of ZZZ Ellen's voice lines (which I never knew the meaning of, being unsubtitled)

OH THANK GOD that was the whole chapter. I was so scared this would all end up being just that first little segment of the chapter and that I'd be in ch 4 for days and days. I did it I beat the chapter!

Aside from that... annoyingly got baby-Durandal in the discounted 10x (annoying because I didn't really want her and I was 20 off pity, but who can resist 50% off?), but then I reluctantly figured I might as well try for her weapon and got it in another single 10x! So I guess I use her now. Probably for the best because I had NO physical damage or IMG types from the last few years, so that was my weakest spot.

Still, kinda would have rather gotten Sena in upcoming rerun. I don't really need her at all, but... Sena...

What's the playstyle for part 2 like? I stopped playing a little before part 1's end not because of the new characters but because Kolosten open world really anchored down a part of my brain in a way that's hard to describe, but it felt really bad :(

I kept up with the story of part 1 to the conclusion, and I'd really love to keep going with part 2, but I'm afraid I just wouldn't enjoy playing the game myself, which is my preferred method of learning the lore

Part 2 is pretty fun, but you’ll need to get some S rank characters to be comfortable with the meta, they’re much cheaper to build than they used to be but there’s only two Part 2 A ranks. Don’t worry story still gives you trial characters.

The main gameplay change is the Astral Ring system! Basically every Part 2 valk gets a burst mode in a certain category, so far there’s four. Their leader skill also buffs them depending on how many valks with a tag corresponding to their AR type is in the team, so you always place the DPS first.

A valk has ONE AR type, but can have multiple tags that correspond to a different type, allowing her to count in the leader skill and support other types by triggering their mechanics.

Rite of Oblivion = Universal support, counts as any of the other ones even if they don’t have the tag, can DPS under certain conditions but mostly meant for support. Example: Coralie, HoFin with Divine Key, Vita

World Star = Characters leave marks on the field and detonate them for damage. Characters who aren’t this type but have the corresponding tag will usually be able to only trigger the mark. Example: Senadina, Helia, Sleepy Theresa, Sparkle

Shadow Star = Characters get locked during AR burst, and will summon a shadow that attacks with them instead of switching characters if you tap the others’ icons, also giving them a buff. Example: Thelema, Lantern, Songque, HoHe with Divine Key

Law of Ascension: Basically a Super QTE, when AR gets activated you get a charge for each character with the corresponding tag. Upon switching to them they will do a special attack in a short buff state. Example: Smol Dudu, Badum Kiana, and the upcoming Sushang valk

Valks with a mystery tag will be compatible with the next type of AR, so there’s a bit of future proofing in releases.

Additionally, very few valks have been straight up powercrept because the teams are no longer damage type locked, you’re not min-maxing an all phys team, just grabbing compatible characters, and since they’re different types you can swap who’s the DPS by just changing the order, so you can use the same geared team for multiple weathers.

Also every part 2 stigma is craftable.

I like the Astral Ring system, allows for more flexible teams and burst modes are rather satisfying.

I'm thinking about Part 2 for Snippets, and I know these are early thoughts, we're only on chapter 7...

But currently... I might not even cover the simulation parts.

What I would change is very little right now. Like, Songque not having a fakeout death in chapter 3. And speeding up chapter 4 a little.

And like, at this point, Sirin won't be able to enter the simulation anyway due to being a Herrscher.

So if it continues as currently, I might just cover the non-sim parts. Going to Mars. Collecting the Quantum Computer doing the simulation. Them trying to log in for the first time. Sirin and Vita bickering because I really doubt they would even get along as well as everyone gets along with Vita currently. And then all of Sirin's reactions every time they exit the simulation.

HI APOLOGIES THAT THIS TOOK SO LONG. im gonna be honest im not very good at convincing people to check stuff out But. whatever. also i know you said youre ok with spoilers but im probably not gonna say too much because, as with any honkai storyline in my experience, the Mystery is a large part of the charm.

what you gotta know going into part 2 is that it isnt original honkai, but its also not Not original honkai. sure, the cast is new [for the most part, at least, several part 1 characters make their way through the narrative from time to time], but at the end of the day it follows the same... vibe? format? i dont know how to name it. as in, for me personally i played it and was like Yeah, this is still honkai. so if youre worried its gonna be completely different from part 1 and 1.5, then dont, because its Not. the weird intrigue and overly complicated yet still fun lore and sudden comedic [and Genuinely Funny, i should say] moments thrown in the middle of serious action are all still here.

second of all. THE CAST IS VERY FUN!!! genuinely i love love love allllll of them [although, songque has definitely taken my heart I FUCKING LOVE SONGQUE!!!!!]. actually all of the seven shus are very good characters!! its very clear that this is mainly Their story, that this is their doing and their world, and none of them are dispensable, so to say. BUT THE ENTIRE CAST IS JUST AMAZING I PROMMY. theyre genuinely fun to experience!!! i love them so much!!! arrghgh. i also deeply love how the main group meets some random girl and decides Not only are we gonna undoom your entire world but were gonna undoom YOU too. none of that self sacrifice shit if they can help it [spoiler: they couldnt help it but sa knows they tried.]

WHICH LEADS ME INTO THE NEXT POINT. if you Really Really need something to convince you, and you liked part 1.5 [which i hope you did, salt snow arc ON TOP!], then. sa is literally there. im DESPERATELY trying to avoid spoilers Myself but i can tell you that She definitely has something to do with this i mean. omniscient power trying to destroy a bubble universe with a group of semi-random people of multiple world fighting against it? doesnt that sound familiar. also perception can change the defeat screen text just like sa could. also the perception fight uses a background from vita's. also after lantern's fight, theres a section of the ost from vita's. also VITA IS LITERALLY THERE. as i said idk what Exactly is going on but IM SO EXCITEDDD ARHRRRHGHGH

I COULD GO ON FOREVER BUT ILL JUST SAY THIS. PLEAAAASE PLEASE PLAY IT. if you play the current chapter [a crime foretold] and decide its not your thing then i completely understand but for me personally it was the exact thing that Really got me into p2 so pleaase please give it a chance. we need more p2 warriors. we need more songque warriors
