kit i would love to know what the council members in lslm thought about obi-wan’s threat
clearly they believe he was serious (as they should) but do you think any of them were particularly shocked/disturbed?
hmmm this is such a good question!! i'm going to say that they're very much shocked and disturbed that obi-wan would threaten to mate anakin (so that he would be a bonded omega and he wouldn't be able to go on the mission they want to send him on--without obi-wan) because he's been so good and so much better and this is the threat of a feral alpha....not the obi-wan that's slowly been coming back to them
i don't think they're necessarily disturbed that obi-wan is threatening to mate ANAKIN or that anakin doesn't want this because anakin is absolutely throwing out fuck me vibes and scent and omg it's happening force signatures
but i think they really didn't realize or think obi-wan would go so far and regress so much and that shocked them
#asks#lslm#squick tag: a/b/o dynamics#i really like the jedis&obi-wan's relationship in that fic#like they want to give him everything he needs to recover and heal#and they're very very much purposefully ignoring the elephant sized attachment in the room#that he has going on with anakin#but i think they're surprised he would threaten it#im not sure exactly how much theyreally thought he's been thinking of anakin as a mate#vs a pup#especially if most of their 'how's obi-wan doing' updates come from anakin#who is so stuck up his own ass about his relationship with obiwan

well behaved padawan
mdni 18+
summary: you had been acting in like a brat all day, pushing Anakin to his limits until he had enough.
warnings: smutty smut smut, fem/ afab reader, dom/sub dynamics, spanking, swearing, p in v, power imbalance, edging/ orgasm denial, praise, degradation, teeny bit of aftercare, creampie, probably more but i’m tired.
A/N: iz actually posting for once??? drinking wine brings out the whore in me so i was possessed to write this.
wc: 1.5k
You know Anakin prefers a compliant padawan, pounding you into submission when the council smites him, or when missions don’t go exactly how he wants. Every now and again however, you can’t help but to act out, and get under that pretty tanned skin of his, and that’s exactly what you had been doing all day, rolling your eyes and sighing when he spoke, dragging your feet as you walked behind him through the temple, making lousy blocks when he lifted his saber at you in training.
Truthfully you didn’t know why you were in such a bratty mood, but you reasoned that you had just been too well behaved as of late and he should have to put in some work for once.
You knew when he pulled you into his quarters he’d be making you sorry for your actions.
"What's wrong Ani?" you purred, running your hands through his hair and tugging gently. “I know we’ve had a long day.”
Anakin's eyes darkened with desire. Almost always, he would take charge, but today, after your behavior he had something a little extra in mind. He sensed a challenge in your eyes, a playful sparkle that hinted at trouble.
"Get off me, brat," he growled, his hands going to grip at your thighs. "You know very well that your behavior today warrants a punishment.”
"Aw, come on, Ani," you cooed, leaning forward so that your nipples brushed against his chest. "I just want to make you feel good. Isn't that what good girls do?"
With a swift move, Anakin pushed you onto the bed, caging you between his arms. "Not this time, little slut. This time, I want you to beg. Beg me to fuck that pretty pussy of yours."
A mischievous glint met your eyes, your inner brat bubbling back to the surface. "Oh, really? And what if I don't want to?" You pushed him away, "Maybe I'll just go find someone else to scratch this itch. Obi-wan looked really really good toda-" *smack* you were interrupted by a harsh backhand across your face, head careering to the right.
Anakin's eyes narrowed, his possessiveness bubbling to the surface. "Oh, you think you can play that game, do you?" He closed the gap between you, his tall, muscular frame intimidating, yet incredibly attractive. "You forget who's in charge here, princess."
"Who's in charge?" you taunted, cheek stinging, yet not quite ready to submit. "I don't see anyone in charge here except me. And right now, I'm feeling very much in control."
Anakin's gaze darkened, and you could see the desire burning in his eyes. He placed his hands on your waist, tugging closer. "You want to play it that way, huh? Fine. But don't say I didn't warn you when it becomes too much for you.”
"You like being a naughty girl, don't you? Teasing me, playing with fire. Well, let's see how well you handle it."
You gasped as he pinned you against the wall, his mouth crashing down on yours in a hungry kiss. You melted into him, your brattish façade slipping as your need for him took over. His kiss was demanding, possessive, and it sent shivers down your spine.
His hands roamed your body, removing your robes as well as his as he went, cupping your breasts, tugging at your nipples, making you whimper into his mouth. Then, sliding his hand down your stomach, to the apex of your thighs, his fingers seeking the heat of your sopping core.
"Somebody's wet baby? It’s pathetic, like she’s crying for me, huh?" he crooned, his breath hot against your ear. "Did thinking about being a bad girl turn you on? Did you touch yourself, imagining it was my hand between your legs?"
you whimpered, head falling back as his fingers teased your clit. "No... I... I wanted you," you gasped, your body thrumming with need.
"Wanted me, huh?" Anakin said, his voice hoarse with desire. "Well, you’re gonna have to wait a little longer first ok? I can’t go around rewarding bad behavior.”
With that, he swept you off your feet and carried you to the bed, his eyes smoldering with a mixture of lust and dominance.
Sitting down on the edge of the bed he placed you, stomach down across his legs, hands roaming the curves of your ass. “Count.” he spat.
Feeling brave you rushed to start counting, before he could hand you the intended punishment. “one, two, three, fo- fuck!” you shrieked the painful stinging being more than you anticipated. “Feel like behaving yet?” he questions, and you can practically feel the smug smirk he's sure to have. You shake your head and let out a tiny “nuh-uh” that comes out more as a whimper as tears start to prickle at your lash line.
He raises his hand again and you tense in anticipation, needy hole clenching as he delivers another equally as mean smack. “T-two” you choke out, tears now freely falling down your face and onto the plush mattress beneath you. “There's my good girl again” Anakin coos, letting his dominant exterior fade for just a second as he strokes the reddened flesh.
His dominance quickly returns to the surface, as he delivers an ever so slightly softer hit to your hind. “Three” you sob, knuckles turning white as you clench your little fists together.
“Two more, pretty girl. You can do that for me right?” he croons, amused by how a few good spanks can completely dissolve your bratty display. You whimper a little “yes” between deep breaths to prepare yourself for the next one.
“Four!” you cry, cursing under your breath. Not wanting to delay any further, Anakin delivers the last firm hit to you. “Fuck-five!” you shout relieved that the onslaught of spankings was over.
Anakin soothes his hands over the new marks he had left, thoroughly enjoying his own handywork.
"Now, be a good girl, get on the bed and spread those pretty legs for me," he said, his voice low and husky.
Your bratty exterior had completely melted away, replaced by a needy, wanton whore. you did as you were told, spreading your legs wide, exposing your sopping pussy to him.
Anakin's eyes devoured the sight before him. "Such a pretty sight," he growled, positioning himself at your entrance, tip grazing your soaked folds. "You ready for me, baby?"
You nodded, your breath coming in short gasps. "Please, Anakin. I need you. Now."
With one swift thrust, he entered you, bottoming out. You cried out, in short broken gasps, your legs twitching as you took his whole length, the stretch was uncomfortable, but not entirely unpleasant, and almost completely eclipsed by the satisfaction of being so full. He began to move, his hips snapping as he plunged in and out of your tight heat.
"Fuck, you feel so good," he groaned, his hands gripping the fat of your thighs as he pounds into you. “Your tight little pussy was made for my cock."
You moaned, your nails digging into his shoulders as pleasure coursed through you. "Please... right there... Oh God!"
His thrusts became more urgent, his body slick with sweat as he drove into you again and again. Your hips bucking up to meet his in perfect synchronicity. The room was filled with the sounds of your combined passion—the slapping of skin, ragged breaths combined, and your moans of pleasure.
"I'm close... so close," you panted, your body tensing as an orgasm built within the pit of your stomach.
With the admission of your impending orgasm, Anakin’s hips stilled, that cocky, knowing smirk plastered on his face. “Hm I don’t know baby.” he croons “I still haven’t forgotten your insolence.”
Your chin started to wobble. Tormented by his throbbing cock still buried deep within, angry red tip weeping inside.
“‘m sorry! Please, just let me!” you cried out, thick, hot tears sliding down your face.
He resumes his movements, this time deliciously slow, allowing you to feel every vein along his length. “Are you going to misbehave again like you did today?” he smirks, knowing he’s got you exactly where he wants; a whiny mess, broken and needy.
You shake your head, tears freely flowing down your face, “ ‘m not, no. never again.” you grip onto him tighter, surely leaving little crescent marks, on the taught skin of his shoulders.
“Promise me baby, y’know I hate not giving you what you want” liar, he’s found this process entirely satisfying, but he doesn't want you to know that yet, not when you've taken his condescension so sweetly.
“Please Ani, i- I promise.” with your verbal pledge he kisses away the sweetly salty tears coating your face before returning to pound into you.
"Cum for me, baby," Anakin growled, his voice thick with his own desire. "Let me feel that tight pussy milking my cock."
Your body shook as an intense orgasm ripped through you, walls clenching tightly around his shaft. "Anakin! Oh fuck!"
Feeling your orgasm, Anakin let go, his own release crashing over him. "Fuuuck!" he grunted, his hips stuttering as he filled you with his hot sticky cum.
Collapsing onto you, he kissed you deeply, their sweaty bodies still joined together. "Gods, baby," he whispered, his breath warm against your skin. You hazily smiled, still vibrating from the intensity of your orgasm. “You’re all sweaty Ani, and heavy. We need to shower.” Anakin hummed, still not ready to move “just five minutes like this princess.”

Having finished the first "Jedi Apprentice" book... some thoughts based purely on that one book and the movies...
On one hand, I do think that no one should have ever let Qui-Gon Jinn be responsible for a child. Like, yeah, the Jedi Council keeps sending children into horribly dangerous situations all the time (because it's kids media, this is how kids media works), so I will not put Obi-Wan repeatedly being in lethal physical danger entirely on Qui-Gon (it's a little bit on him); there's an institutional issue here. But, for the love of goodness, that aside, Qui-Gon is obviously just not currently equipped to take responsibility for and help a child's emotional and mental wellbeing.
On the other hand, I do think that this was... decently written? The characterization is clear. I do understand why Qui-Gon Jinn thinks the way that he does even if I find a lot of his thoughts infuriating and strongly disagree with his conclusions. His past experiences with a padawan fucked him up and it's coloring all of his current choices, and he knows it but doesn't want to examine exactly how. PLUS there is the cultural / institutional element of even Jedi initiates being deadly little killing machines and padawans regularly being sent into danger. Qui-Gon grew up this way, he evidently views some element of this as normal and acceptable. This is along the lines of what happened to HIM as a child.
And that's interesting. Obi-Wan Kenobi will later turn around and make some of the exact same mistakes with Anakin Skywalker.
PLUS there's the knowledge that Qui-Gon was trained by Dooku and... I have to believe that Dooku was probably worse, honestly. Like, I have not read the additional materials that might show off that master-apprentice relationship, but Dooku became a damn Sith Lord who waged war against the galaxy because he thought that accelerationalism would fix shit, which suggests to me that he was probably a strict and demanding master, probably not especially emotionally available, especially emotionally intelligent, and/or especially respectful of, like, other people's opinions or feelings. I won't assume at the moment that it was intentionally abusive or that there wasn't some affection there; I AM going to assume that the Dooku & Qui-Gon dynamic was in some way dysfunctional as all get out, though.
Qui-Gon is actively refusing to take a padawan because he knows that he's not in a good place for one and doubts his own teaching abilities! He really does not want to be responsible for a child! (And Yoda is going, "Fix him, I can," and by "I", Yoda means "12-year-old Obi-Wan Kenobi".) Unfortunately, Qui-Gon is so desperate to avoid Xanatos happening again that he shies away from taking even temporary guardianship of Obi-Wan Kenobi for the duration of a transport flight.
So, while knowing that Qui-Gon Jinn is going to fuck up even harder in later books, my current vibes for him are... He's like one of those unintentionally toxic parents who is doing their best most of the time but honestly can't see what exactly is fucked up about their behavior, because THEIR parents were WAY worse and even more abusive, and also general society generally agrees that "not starving your child" / "not beating your child with a belt" / "not causing any physical harm" is the peak of "good" parenting. I would bet that Dooku's expectations for Qui-Gon's skills and behavior as a 12/13-year-old were extremely high.
So, Qui-Gon means well, and is probably internally holding himself up against Dooku and correctly seeing that he is WAY better with kids than Dooku, but unfortunately, Dooku REALLY sucked as a teacher and guardian. (Like, Dooku may have successfully passed on skills, but the whole experience was generally volatile and unpleasant for Qui-Gon.) So "way better than Count Fucking Dooku" still lands us all firmly on: "Oh, shit, Qui-Gon fucking sucks at this, actually."
And Qui-Gon KNOWS he sucks at this! He knows he's not good with Obi-Wan, even if he doesn't fully grip his own position and impact. He's busy risking his own life and nearly dying multiple times fighting pirates and mining overseers right now in this first book, so he doesn't exactly have the time or the tools to fix his shit right now, even if he knew where to get started and actually wanted to rip open those old wounds. (And he does not.)

would love to hear your thoughts on this more 🙏
OH TOTALLY!!! there are quite a few angles i toy around with this from, but they’re all rooted in the basic premise of anakin not really knowing how to function in a non-hierarchical relationship because he’s never really had that. he went from one position of subjugation where he had a master to a nicer position of subjugation where he had a master and then he gave that position for a third position of subjugation where he had a master! out of all his important core relationships (sans anidala, i’m not getting into them just yet because this is about how his other relationships might inform that one) his only remotely normal one was his relationship with his mother, which is a relationship he had while they were enslaved. he looks to obi-wan to fill the shmi-shaped void, and obi-wan is his master, and when obi-wan cannot fulfill his emotional needs he turns to palpatine, someone who has utmost authority and is also grooming him and who eventually becomes his master. and these are not dynamics exactly comparable to slavery (early on that is, the sidious + vader dynamic certainly is!), but they are still dynamics with clear power differentials and there’s also the language overlap and that is not good for a young traumatized brain that needs to process things. and all this is gonna inform how he approaches relationships forever.
one idea i like to play with is the idea that anakin sometimes slips into viewing pretty much every relationship as some form of ownership or at least subjugation, there’s just a good kind and a bad kind. and if he’s in a particularly bad place he’ll start viewing his marriage with padmé in those terms. and more typically i think it’d just be a cause of conflict because he starts reading things as demands or misreading her as authoritative or even just thinks too hard about their positions relative to each other and that makes him snappy and defensive in a way that in his brain can slip into power play. but in a more fun and fucked up way i think he sometimes desires a total subjugation under her because it’s familiar and easy and he basically lives for her anyway. cuz like, the thing about being robbed of freedom and autonomy is that if it happens for long enough you just get used to it and accept it even if you do yearn for freedom, and sometimes “freedom” and “being controlled but in a way that’s nice and by the right person” are concepts that easily blur together if your brain is sufficiently scrambled. and whose brain is more scrambled than anakin’s?
where it really gets fun is when you consider vaderdala though, because his time as vader, more specifically palpatine’s treatment of vader, is possibly the most horrifically brain-scrambling experience anyone has ever been through. “total subjugation” doesn’t even sufficiently cover it. it’s a horrific loss of and violation of autonomy to an absurdly evil degree, and it’s one he basically just passively accepts because he has nothing left but that. and all this is being done to him by someone he still loves and cares for (literally the last person he even has to love and care for). so if you give him enough years of that + thinking padmé is dead and then you bring padmé back into the mix you cannot convince he’d know how to go back to having a normal marriage. the way i see it a vaderdala that happens at any point past, say, the 5 year mark of anakin being vader is one where vader essentially views the rekindling of the marriage as a transferred ownership and padmé as his best case scenario master. because after constantly falling into the hands of a new master and then subsequently losing his entire self to such a degree he’s basically just a sadist’s lab rat/attack dog who doesn’t even get to keep his own name i really think he’d just accept that maybe this is just what he’s meant to be and give up. and i don’t think padmé coming back would fix that, i think he’d just put her in an extremely uncomfortable position of basically viewing her as replacement palpatine and putting himself entirely at her mercy because he has genuinely forgotten how to be a person. like at a certain point the holes in vader’s brain are just too fucking big and his approach to love/marriage is basically “being owned but by my wife ❤️ yay ❤️”

hi!. first of all, i'm absolutely obsessed with your blog, thank you for posting, i've never felt so validated reading someone's posts before. i'm currently falling deeply into the star wars abyss and i was wondering if you could recommend any books you personally liked (the angstier the better)? i'm a complete fandom newbie, so far I've only seen movies and clone wars season one, but id love to hear your opinion on what I should read next. if it's not a weird request. sorry if it is! have a nice day.
WAAAAH thank you so much!!! So glad you’re here and I’m SO HAPPY to recommend books to you because I was exactly in your position only a few months ago!
Okay. So the consensus within the fandom, especially if you’re an Obikin enjoyer (not sure if you are, but if you’re following me I suspect you at least find their platonic dynamic compelling), is that if you’re going to read one book it’s the Revenge of the Sith novelization by Matt Stover, and I agree with this. I’m not someone who was ever interested in reading movie novelizations but this book single handedly changed my mind. It’s exceptionally well written and just has this pervasive sense of growing doom that’s super unsettling while also giving a lot of emotional dimension to all of the characters in ways that film really isn’t able to. There’s a lot of interesting choices that are made—Anakin’s fall feels explicitly like Palpatine is taking advantage of an oncoming mental health episode and pushing him to snap, Anakin’s perception of the Obi-Wan/Padmé affair is tied more to anxieties about the two people he loves most not wanting him around than infidelity…there’s a lot of scenes that are in the book that aren’t in the movie that really just hit like a gut punch.
It’s absolutely great for angst, it’s written in such a unique way and literally the last scene gave me full body chills when I first read it. Horrible, beautiful, highly recommend it. Also uses second person narration in ways that are very clever.
(Also, it like…portrays Obi-Wan as like. A repressed gay monk in love with his oblivious straight friend and it’s incredible)
Now for my more personal recommendations for after you read that, if you want more!
I am a massive Rogue Planet and Jedi Quest enjoyer. They are honestly the cornerstones of my characterizations for these characters. Despite being a singular book and a middle grade series respectively, I group them in the same category for their absolutely incredibly compelling way it portrays the foundation of Anakin and Obi-Wan’s relationship—specifically how absolutely fucked it is in ways that aren’t super clear in the movies. They take place after the Phantom Menace and before AOTC, so cover Anakin’s time as Obi-Wan’s padawan.
Rogue Planet by Greg Bear follows Obi-Wan and Anakin on a mission when Anakin is 12 and there’s no way I can describe it other than it reading kind of like…what if the Virgin Mary was a permissive boymom who sucked at her job and the kid she’s raising has a 50/50 chance at being Jesus or Satan. Obi-Wan in this reads like the most 15 year old 28 year old ever, is still reeling from the death of Qui-Gon and has entered the motherhood phase of “my child is perfect and special and can do no wrong ever ever ever”. He’s extremely permissive and has hinged an unsettling amount of his hopes on Anakin’s role as the Chosen One because of his own personal issues. So when Anakin does shit like…oh I don’t know…accidentally explodes a man’s head with his mind…does things he isn’t supposed to Obi-Wan is like. Don’t Worry You Did Nothing Wrong I Will Ignore It.
And then hot on the tails of this is the Jedi Quest series by Jude Watson which follows their relationship after that on various missions as Anakin grow up. The series kind of focuses on the systemic ways in which Anakin leading up to AOTC was let down and what eventually drives his decisions later. Do not be fooled by it being a series for 12 year olds, it’s absolutely apeshit and additionally my favorite place for informing my perspective of their dynamic. Obi-Wan has gone from being boymom to being more emotionally distant as he tries to make Anakin be an “ideal jedi”. Jude Watson’s entire thesis is that like, Obi-Wan is not father brother or friend to Anakin, he is a Jedi, and does not have the tools to be anything else so his and Anakin needs and wants more. There’s this insane line at the end of book one where Anakin says like “Obi-Wan would come to love him. He would make him do so” which just acts as the through line for the entire series. the push and pull between someone who wants more and someone who consistently holds back creates this very unhealthy master-disciple dynamic that drives me insane. (I have kind of an uncharitable perspective of Obi-Wan because of this but it’s actually what made me love him even more, I prefer Jude Watson’s portrayal of him to almost any other author)
Anyways that’s my long drawn out first 3 recommendations to you lol! If you like them (or if you don’t!) feel free to come back and I’d be happy to chat with you more <33

Chapter Seven: ‘Something New’ Bridgerton Au!Anakin
Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
a/n: i’m back 🤭 this is a lot of fluff y’all so i hope you eat it up 💪💪 it’s bit long because i sort of combined chapter 7 and chapter 8 since it made more sense for it to be in this one compared to what i have planned out. anyways that’s all i’ve got say love you all 💋💋
seven days, that’s how long you had with Anakin before the responsibilities of the world would catch up with you two. seven days then your honeymoon would be over. thankfully even though the first day was a little bit of a rough start it was what you needed to begin truly getting to know each other. and that’s exactly what you’d been doing, over the last four days you’d learned a lot about him- like his favorite color was light blue. and he wasn’t the youngest but in fact had a little sister making him the middle child, which honestly explained a lot.
you were currently taking a stroll with him in the royal garden, conversing and listening to him explain his family dynamic a bit more thoroughly. Anakin had told you how he’d purposely mess with his older brother to keep him on his toes since in his words ‘he’d be to stuck up and a complete stick in the mud’ if he wasn’t there. which prompted you to then ask what would he be now since he was here.
“that’s what my little sister is for, she looks up to me. practically a mini me but smarter” you snort a laugh at that and he smiles brighter. he truly had a pretty smile. “you sound like you adore her” you say with a soft smile and he chuckles “i do but never tell her i said that.” you quirk a brow “why not?” you ask curiously. “because she’d never let me live it down” he states a bit dramatically but completely serious and you can’t help the smile that never leaves your face only growing with each interaction.
“so Obi-Wan can never escape you then” you voice the thought out loud and Anakin laughs, everything about him you’ve been finding incredibly charming. “oh yea he’s never going to have it easy- Ahsoka is like my apprentice of mischief. star pupil” he said with a mischievous smile leaning in towards you as he speaks making you blush slightly. “only pupil” you point out and he rolls his eyes “for now.” your brows knit together in confusion “what’s that supposed to mean?”
“time will tell” he says with a shrug, you scoff and think about pressing more but decide to drop it. you’re both quiet for a moment, silently enjoying one another’s company as you continue the walk in the garden. the warm sun and floral smell from all the flowers creating the perfect bubble. it was your idea, coming on this walk- in fact you insisted he’d join you so you could show him your favorite spot. he seemed reluctant at first but you quickly realized that was just him messing with you and not how he truly felt. you felt your mind wonder back to his sister “it sounds like she cares about you as much as you do her, so how come she wasn’t at the wedding?”
“my mother was afraid she’d cause a scene- which to be fair i wouldn’t put it past her, she can be a bit….snippy and she’s not afraid to speak her mind it was just not the right time or place for that.” you let his answer hang in the air for a bit, in all honesty she sounded like a good person. a free spirit for sure but still a good person “she sounds like she’d make a good leader” you offer as a response. “i suppose” he says with a wrinkled nose, clearly not agreeing with the thought. “i personally can’t see her as much more than a bratty teen.”
“i’m sure that’s how Obi-Wan feels about you” you counter and he can’t help but laugh “well then i guess i got a taste of my own medicine” you giggle at the thought and begin to lead Anakin across the bridge. you where close to the spot you wanted to show him now, just a bit more of a walk but Anakin had stopped. when you turned to see why his footsteps ceased you where met with him looking over the bridge out across the water admiring the view of the fish swimming up the stream and the way the sun reflected across it. you take a moment to admire him first before walking back over and standing beside him to look over the stream yourself.
“i wish i could meet her, i feel like id love her” it came out soft, almost like you hadn’t fully meant to say it out loud. you could feel his eyes on you now, and then a sudden warmth on your back. his hand was pressed against the small of it, you had to fight back the way your cheeks burned at the action. “if she warmed up to you i think she’d like you as well” he says and you finally force yourself to meet his gaze. “as of right now i’m guessing she’s not to keen on me” you ask with a tilt to your head and he bites back a smile. “very much so” not surprising you did technically take away her brother.
“she’s the main reason i agreed” you blink a few times trying to process what he meant. “huh?” he pulled his hand from you and you had to fight a frown at the loss of contact as you watched him lean an elbow on the bridge railing “well i wasn’t really given a choice- but the reason i was so compliant in the matter, and i know this is selfish. was for her not my kingdom.” you mimic his actions leaning onto the bridge railing yourself as you listened to him speak carefully.
“the kingdom of Tatooine is falling, already on its last leg. i knew if i went along and everything went well then we would get the support we need from Alderaan, which would mean my sister would not have to bare witness to what would happen if we hadn’t gotten the proposal and that was the only reason i was remotely okay with everything.” you felt your heart tug at the confession, that familiar feeling of guilt resurfacing. “you’re a good brother Anakin” he smiled at the sentiment. a small silence filled the air before he spoke again.
“could you tell Obi-Wan that, he seems insistent on the fact i’m nothing but a bad influence” clearly the conversation had gotten a bit to emotional for his liking judging by how quick he was to play it off. you smile at that and pull off from the railing “well i never said you weren’t a bad influence.” you retort as you begin to walk off the bridge and continue the original intention of this walk. “ouch, you wound me” he places his hand over his heart in mock offense “honestly me a bad influence? doesn’t even begin to sound true.” he was smiling as he said it unable to take himself seriously with that statement and you can’t help but laugh “you are full of yourself.” he shrugs “i think i have every right to be” he says smugly and you can’t help but roll your eyes.
“so what does Tatooine need most?” you ask, promptly changing the question as you both round a corner, now in a much smaller section of the garden. the flowers where much more overgrown here the only clear pathway was leading to the center of some pillars. you turn to him with a smile, this was what you wanted to show him. it was your favorite place to hide when you where younger and upset. you’d stumbled across it on accident but it quickly became your favorite place.
he raised a brow but smiled regardless, taking the time to look around before following you up the path. the center of the pillars was clear just a bunch of grass. you plopped down on the ground opting to lay rather then sit after all your dress wasn’t exactly the sitting kind. he stood over you for a moment looking down and contemplating something, you weren’t sure what but you decided to just brush it off once he followed suit and laid down beside you. “what do you mean” he finally asks in response to your question. “i know our coronation isn’t for another few days but we could begin preparations now, and then once we are officially crowned we can take immediate action. so what in your opinion does Tatooine need most?” you explain, turning your head to the side to face him. tracing over his jaw with your eyes and trying to memorize each detail of his face from this angle as he thinks. it was strange how quickly you found yourself falling for him, but he made it easy and you honestly weren’t mad about it.
“the route of our problems is lack of funds. we have a high crime rate, not for lack of laws but lack of ways to in-force them.” he begins and you move your gaze back upwards, staring out at the passing clouds. “go on” this time he turned to look at you “the only jail we have is the palace dungeons, outside of that there’s nothing. and there chalk full already. we’ve thought of building more but all of the money rightfully goes towards feeding the people” he continues and you nod, turning back so you both where facing each other now. “so funds and military support would be most welcome?” you ask carefully wanting to make sure you got what he was implying.
“yes, of course food and supplies would also be a good help but with money they’d be able to buy their own” you hum a brief response before giving him an affirming nod “understood, then we have our priorities” he raises a brow, a small half smile appearing on his face “just like that?” you smile back “well we are to be king and queen, our word is law.” not entirely true, you both did have your own set of rules and regulations to follow. but overall you two where at the top, the people look to you not parliament. “i guess being a king isn’t as bad as i thought” he joked.
a comfortable silence fell once more, only this time you where staring at each other when it happened. you hadn’t realized just how close he’d laid next to you until now, his entire body pressed against your side. faces only inches apart, if you moved any closer you’d kiss. the thought made your stomach erupt with butterflies, it wouldn’t be your first kiss since technically that happened on your wedding day. however it was different then than now. now it was you wanting to kiss him and not a requirement, you felt uneasy. not use to this type of thing, you force yourself to break the eye contact looking back up to the sky before starting a conversation for a distraction.
“tell me more about Tatooine- the good parts what’s it like there?” you ask him and he laughs.“Tatooine has very few good things in my opinion- for starters we’re a desert kingdom, which means there’s sand for days.” he says annoyed and you turn your attention back to him with a raised brow “not a fan of sand?” you ask and bite back a laugh. “i hate it. it’s course and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.” you couldn’t hold the laughter in anymore especially with how serious he meant it, brows furrowed like he was cursing the sand in his mind. “well remind me to never take you to a beach” you say in between giggles, it was his turn to roll his eyes at you as you kept laughing. “there is one thing that i love about Tatooine- aside from my family” his sentence pulls you back and you force yourself to calm down. “what’s that?” he relaxes more once you ask and smiles as he speaks “the races.”
“races?” he nods and begins to explain “we have horse races, i was a rider- against my mother and fathers wishes but they never exactly stopped me either. it’s not like i took place in the gambling side of things, i just like the adrenaline of it.” you watched as he spoke with the enthusiasm of a small child. it was cute and his eyes sparkled “have you ever won?” you wonder out loud. “oh yea just about every time i’ve raced, ill miss it” he says rather solemnly and that made your heart ache.
“what if we introduced the races to Alderaan? it seems like a harmless enough tradition” you spoke before really thinking and he snapped straight up like you’d just told him the best news in the world before he quickly shut himself down not sure if you where being serious. “honestly?” he presses needing confirmation before he allowed himself to be to excited. “why not, it could be fun a way to unite our kingdoms- people from Tatooine can come here to compete and vice versa.”
he’d kissed you then. it was gentle but passionate, a smile on his face the whole time. it made your head spin, face burn but you liked that and when he pulled away you did your best to act unaffected not quite ready to express yourself.
The next two days with Anakin where just as sweet, you both where getting along great. opening up about any thought that came to mind. it was wonderful and then something changed.
you weren’t sure what caused it but he was acting different today. more shut off and distant, it hurt. this was the last day of your honeymoon and somehow you’d messed it up without even realizing. all day he’d been brushing you off and keeping as much physical distance as possible, your head was spinning trying to find where you’d gone wrong. each conversation you’ve had with him running on repeat looking for even the smallest inkling that you’d crossed a boundary of sorts but you kept coming up empty. you tried asking him what was wrong as well wanting to just rip off the bandaid but he simply said nothing was wrong.
talk about emotional whiplash, if nothing was wrong why was he acting this way. why would he not even let you get near him. you’d let him be alone for about an hour before you couldn’t take the pit of anxiety anymore and decided to face him once more. This time you weren’t going to stop asking him until you got an answer, so you made quick work to hunt him down. which was surprisingly easy compared to the last time he’d disappeared. you found him struggling to walk up the stairs, you where quick to rush up to him not even giving him a chance to process it was you who now stood beside him. “Anakin what happened?” you ask concerned reaching out to help him but he moves away from your touch. “i’m fine” he says curtly and you’re taken aback briefly but recover “are you confident in that fact because-“
“i said i’m fine!” he shouts and you go silent letting your arms fall to your side as you begin to pull back, feeling yourself mentally shutting down. you see a look of regret on his face when he finally looks at you, as well as a sheen of sweat on his forehead. actually now that you got a better look at him he was pale, sickly so. he took a deep bated breath before proceeding up the stairs.
“i mean it i’m fine.” you scoff at him before following behind, he was heading in the direction of his room and you where going to make sure he got there safely. “could you just leave me be” you roll your eyes and cross your arms “i’m not going anywhere Anakin so would you just let me help yo-” you watch as he began to fall backwards, in a panic you do your best to catch him only to realize just how heavy he was the second his weight hit your arms and you fall down with him.
he was out cold, you on the other hand where now stuck underneath him. at least you’d broken his fall.
you wring out a wet cloth before placing it on his head that rested in your lap. you had gotten the attention of your guards and made them carry him to his room as you got a hold of the royal physician. that was two hours ago, now he was resting much more peacefully after he’d been woken up to take some medicine to help fight a fever. The Flu was what the physician said it was, and he’d insisted you not be in the room with Anakin in fear you might get it as well. as if that would stop you, he was sick and you wanted- needed to make sure he was okay. if you got sick in the process then oh well.
you watch over him carefully, running your fingers through his damp sweaty curls. what irked you about all of this was that he said nothing, suffered in silence instead of asking for your help. you thought you guys where finally getting somewhere. finally trusting one another- liking one another, learning to love one another and then he does this. ignores you, pushes you away when he needs you most. you see his eyes twitch and your mind goes blank, waiting patiently to see if he’d finally fully wake up. at least enough to have a conscious conversation.
soon enough his eyes do flutter open, looking around himself briefly to process his surrondings before looking at you. “you said you where fine” was the first thing out of your mouth a frown gracing your features and he had the audacity to smirk. “i was” he huffed, and you had to fight the urge to flick his head. “i’d believe you if you hadn’t passed out right after you said it” he remained silent after that statement and so did you. upset with his actions and not wanting to make a scene while he was sick you figured it best to just quit speaking entirely.
“why are you doing this” you raise a brow and he sighs knowing what you where going to ask “caring for me i mean” you feel your nose scrunch up, what a stupid question in your opinion. “I am your wife, it is my job” he closed his eyes at that “i didn’t think that applied to us” he said simply. “what?” your brows knit together “the duties of a married couple” he adds. it triggered you a bit, why would he think you wouldn’t want to help him. “you’re sick, was i just supposed to stand to the side and watch you suffer?” he opens his eyes and shrugs. “the vows i said may have been empty when i made them but i still made them nonetheless and i for one keep my promises.”
“so you’re only doing this out of obligation?” he asks and you frown “no-” he shifts slightly so that his head is more propped up on your thigh, closing his eyes and letting out a soft groan like it physically pained him to move. “then why? because you like me?” he smiles as he asks- unbelievable he could not possibly have the energy to be teasing you right now. “i’m doing this as your wife and nothing more” you say but it’s clear you aren’t being entirely truthful with that statement and you can tell by the look he gives you he’s not buying it.
“i think you just don’t want to confess you like me” he chuckles but quickly regrets it, closing his eyes again in pain. “if i did i would tell you” you say and begin to run your fingers through his hair again and watch as he relaxes. “well make sure you shout it” he mumbles. “i’m sorry?” he opens his eyes again, scanning over your face before answering “when you tell me you like me, shout it so i can hear you and know you mean it.”
“you’re delusional” you huff but can’t hide your smile and he’s quick to mirror you. “that’s probably the fever” he says with a shrug before allowing himself to doze back off to sleep in your lap.

I still get notes on this post every so often and it just reminds me of all the asks/submissions anon sent me after I expressed my shock about vader burning obi-wan in the kenobi series
anyways anon hope you're living your best life i guess
oh also I guess enough time has passed but I think vader burning obi-wan was such a genius move, story-wise. like it's so on-brand for his character, especially since he's so angry and he wanted obi-wan to feel exactly how he felt on mustafar. i feel like it's very obvious that he was thinking about doing that to obi-wan for a long time.
I think in my eyes going back and watching the prequels and even TCW with this knowledge really shifts things for me, especially with obi-wan and anakin's relationship. not necessarily in a bad way, I love their dynamic and I still do. but more in a way of "wow, give it a few years and these two are going to just. damage each other completely and the way that anakin will come to hate obi-wan in the future makes me so sad about how they are now"
y'know?
and I guess before kenobi dropped we knew that vader hated obi-wan. like obviously he says it to him at the end of ROTS and the way he constantly talked about finding obi-wan afterwards made it very clear.
but in the kenobi series, we finally get to see him act on that hate. and it tells us just how much he hates him. (spoiler: a lot).
anyways, I still haven't gotten around to rewatching the prequels since kenobi dropped last year (though I did rewatch ROTS last summer), but having rewatched some TCW episodes recently, it just hurts in a different way to see obi-wan and anakin being...obi-wan and anakin, you know? like the fact that they both care about each other so much but also just knowing just how much damage they're going to do to each other...
it's heartbreaking.
anyways star wars is pain thanks for coming to my ted talk.
#obi wan kenobi#anakin skywalker#darth vader#also amazed and kinda glad that post is still getting notes#those anons were wild#i tried finding some of the other ones#but tumblr's search algorithm is not great

I’ve always been curious about Obikin, because it never felt right to me, but it isn’t exactly a pro-ship? I can never really tell. On one hand there’s the “you were my brother Anakin” on the other theres the headcanons. I just wanna know what the appeal is from someone who ships them. /gen
i’m not the best person to answer this bc i really don’t care at all if a ship is problematic or proshipper or whatever lol, i mean the first thing i did after watching the kenobi show was to look out for art and fics of vader nonconning obi-wan 🤪 and even if anakin and obiwan were siblings (which they aren’t let’s be real) i’m all for the dead dove ngl!! also it’s fiction… have a little more fun cuz this shouldn’t be that different than playing with our barbies when we were 4 and making them kill each other or have orgies together lol
but to answer your question, first i found their cat-and-mouse dynamic in kenobi really hot. vader obsessing diligently on his old master who he claims he doesn’t care about anymore was crazy. however, i think obikin is a beautifully complicated relationship. it’s canon that both anakin and obi-wan’s entire relationship is built on duality: master and apprentice, dark and light, love and hate, two halves of the same coin. this is some soulmatism shit that i fuck with and i was never into the whole soulmates tbh. i also think obi-wan is a heavily repressed man in terms of love and attachments and following the code to the core, and ofc struggles with his love for anakin: he cannot control him in any way for the force against humanity that anakin is (he’s such a momboy) plus he had the chance to kill him a couple of times and yet he couldn’t bring himself to do it and finally free him from the misery of being darth vader, bc of his love for him. he even spent his life in exile and probably didn’t kill himself just for the sake of anakins children. it’s not a coincidence that he decided to finally die and join the force when luke and leia were reunited and he guaranteed their safety
and then you have anakin who is anything but someone who subdues his feelings: he thrives for love, love is was fuels him and the reason he Fell on the first place, he pushes and pushes like the way he did to get padme to love him. i simply love how their own approach to love complements each other so well and i cannot get enough of it, bc at the end of the day they are both each other’s most important person. like look at this extract of this novel where anakin finally joins the force after ROTJ and how obi-wan has his own whole sentence from the other ones (even from padme!!!! or shmi!!!!)
idk man i just love them so much
#obikin#also ppl need to stop calling incest whatever they don’t like#saying that their age difference is too big is one thing BUT INCEST??? 😭#they are literally not siblings or neither grew up together in that way so that statement is just simply wrong#and feels like a lazy excuse idk… in any case they were “brother in arms”#but honestly? whatever like even if i they were i would still find it hot (or maybe even hotter)#i have literally drawn noncon obikin scenarios of anakin molesting a 12 y/o obi-wan or anakin fucking his biologic mother obiwan#do you think “you were my brother anakin” does face me 🤣

You know something that bothers me in Time Travel Aus and some fics Obikin centered? Obi-Wan's reactions. Like I only really ship Obikin via their dynamic in Rots and CW while fully acknowledging the etnics involved considering everything Anakin did when going Vader (or falling into it), and yet... The fact that people make Obi-Wan have certain attractions to him while he was underage unsettles me. Because when I saw Aotc, Obi-Wan seemed to view him mostly in the lenses of a exasperated father (or coworker), with some moments of reassurance and fondness. Only when he stops being his padawan does that shift to be more equals (dunno how that was portrayed in the OWK show, haven't seen it).
And while I'm aware that wasn't the intention, whenever I see Obi-Wan time travelling to when Anakin was a kid or teen, it feels weirdly similar to grooming, where Anakin simply shifts his obsession with Padmé to Obi. Dunno if it's just a peev of mine, but wanted your opinion.
I must admit I am eyeing this ask a little warily, all things considered. But! assuming this is in good faith…
You may have noticed that when I go on my periodic obikin spirals I tend more to vaderwan; it's the version I was drawn to first and still find most compelling for me. So I'm not the best person to ask for a breakdown of the dynamics you mentioned, but I'm not without insights I guess.
I would say that Obi Wan being attracted to teenage padawan Anakin-or more importantly acting on it- is a darker take on his character… this is an angle someone might find it interesting to mess around with. (and sometimes being unsettled can be the point)
For example Obi Wan -> padakin may be appealing for Obi Wan's character by making him less than respectable, with desires and passions that he has very carefully squirreled away, but that Anakin pushes against and through the boundaries of..
Or your scenario with the time travel- I think I have read something along those lines, but it was fairly self-aware about it. This would be post- rots for Obi Wan, so the stakes are different. And you could play with him getting manipulative.
It sounds like it's not for you though!
Vaderwan is also dark, but in a different way. The OWK show doesn't exactly bring sex into it, it just depicts them as completely undone by each other, their souls consumed by each other, eaten away with grief and guilt and rage for ten entire years……………………………………………………………………
*shrug* This is playing with dolls to me. I have a mental closet with dozens of little Obi Wans and Anakins and Padmes and Ahsokas and Codys in various outfits (the outfits mostly being different takes on them etc). I'll toy with just about any ship involving my blorbos, but I'm not going to necessarily be drawn to every permutation either.
idk idk.

Do you think it’s a common thing in the fandom (especially when writing fan-works featuring the Skywalker Father-Son Duo(TM)) to give Anakin a lot of Luke’s more noble and good attributes and act like he’s been like that the whole time, and give Luke some of Anakin’s worse attributes to make Anakin seem more centrist compared canon Luke and the “old Jedi” (quotes used ironically)?
Cause as a kid I loved Anakin for many of the reasons I now realize don’t apply to him at all, and moreso apply to Luke, and it’s really getting irritating to look up cool Luke fic and realize that this has been done to ma boi. What do you think?
I gotta be honest, I don't think I read enough fics with that dynamic in it to be able to say with any degree of certainty whether that's true or not.
What I will say is that I think fic writers who like Anakin tend to smooth him out a LOT and, yes, give him traits that are more applicable to other characters in order to make him likable. And in fairness, that's exactly what TCW did as well by effectively just giving him Obi-Wan's personality and erasing some of his less likable characteristics from the films.
Because Anakin is... a difficult character in many ways. The core of him is fear, so there's a tendency to want to sympathize with him, but what gets ignored is that Anakin is 1000% a fascist by AOTC, someone who can and will let himself be filled with enough anger to commit a massacre of an entire village down to the last child, and someone who is perfectly fine with pressuring a woman into a relationship with him. None of that is necessarily fun to write and it's hard to write Anakin as a sympathetic character if those things are kept in mind. So they just get... smoothed away. He's not REALLY a fascist, he's just confused or brainwashed and one good conversation with someone can completely fix that little problem. Anakin isn't pressuring Padme, he just could tell that she was into him and he TOTALLY would back off if Padme said no. The Tuskens deserved it anyway! So on and so forth.
Luke, by contrast, is a very easy character. There's a reason he gets labeled "sunshine boy" by the fandom and his struggles with anger get sort-of... forgotten and overlooked in favor of just seeing him as this easy, likable, charming farmboy. He's sweet and honorable and passionate. He IS a lot like Anakin in many ways, and that's deliberate. Fandom has taken a turn recently towards wanting Leia to be like Anakin and Luke to be like Padme, and there's reasons to make that comparison, but Luke's similarities to Anakin are very deliberately there in the narrative for a reason. Luke has to struggle with anger and fear and be filled with righteous passion because that's exactly what Anakin struggled with and Luke's ability to overcome that in a way Anakin never could is what makes the entire story interesting and meaningful.
Luke also is one of those characters who tends to get handed the "grey Jedi" label which tends to lead to Luke choosing to look down on the Prequels Jedi and decreeing that attachments are totally fine actually and HIS Jedi aren't going to be repressed anymore blah blah blah. And this does come from fans who have fallen into the fandom osmosis hole of "the Prequels are about the Jedi's failure" and have twisted the entire Skywalker Saga around that theory, including Luke's journey. And part of that theory tends to be a lot more sympathetic towards Anakin, as well. If only the Jedi had been more understanding and less oppressive, Anakin wouldn't have fallen. So it's not shocking that fans who are writing from that perspective are going to make Anakin seem softer and more sympathetic.
So yeah, sure, it's entirely possible that some fic writers are choosing to give Anakin more of Luke's nobler characteristics in order to help smooth him out and make him easier to like, while giving Luke some of Anakin's more arrogant or dismissive traits in order to make those traits seem more "centrist." I don't think it's something that ONLY happens with Luke and Anakin, though. Like I said, TCW gave Anakin most of Obi-Wan's traits and then tossed a few of Anakin's onto Obi-Wan, as well. I think you could make an argument that we're seeing some of that happen with Ahsoka, too.
I wish I could offer you some Luke fic recs, so instead I will simply say I hope you find some good ones that feel like they're more in character!

I was at one of those indoor trampoline parks for a kid bday party today and there was a dad in the dodgeball pit just mercilessly pelting kids with foam balls. Then a woman came running over, I’m assuming his wife, going “STOP it! Get OUT of there! I need you to help me set up the cupcakes!” And obviously this was Obikin in the wild. I thought of you because I imagine something like this happened in the PIP universe.
Thank you for thinking of PiP and sharing with me!!! It makes my heart happy 💕
So yesterday I was at a trampoline park too! And of course I was 100% having obikin thoughts!
My first thought was PiP family being exactly like the one you saw in the wild: Anakin would 100% be owning all of Luke’s friends at dodgeball when it turns out Luke is actually terrible at it to help him save face and/or challenging Obi-Wan to a dunking competition at basketball courts - while Leia is pretending she is with another family entirely
But then - I have some kind of really vague thoughts for a nanny au that I’ve never really settled on a plot/dynamics for. The kids are younger in this, maybe 4. This is at the beginning when Anakin hasn’t officially hired Obi-Wan yet: they bring the kids out together because he’s still seeing if they’re a good fit. I’m imagining Obi-Wan basically having a panic attack trying to keep track of the kids in all the mayhem. Luke gets lost in the climbing structure and can’t find his way out, despite Leia going in to help him and Obi-Wan’s calm, clear directions, so Anakin goes in after him. It’s the first time Obi-Wan softens to him - Anakin is an asshole in this to everyone who is Not His People - when he sees him be patient and kind with the kids. Anakin decides Obi-Wan is alright and hires him as their nanny.

5 things I like to write about
I was tagged by both @prahacat and @cocotter, thank you both for that 💜.
This is an excellent exercise.
Hmm 🤔 five things I like to write about, 😅 honestly it feels a bit like I'm all over the place with what I like.
I like to write fix it stories. There's just something about fixing what goes so horribly wrong in canon, and there are just so many moments where a small adjustment can change the course of the whole story. It's always a joy to tweak these small and big details and shift the course of the story, it's like a game… plus it gives me the chance to save them all (damn my soft heart)
But the second thing I enjoy to write is major character death (just to totally contradict myself). I just love killing my characters, especially Obi-Wan and Anakin, and maybe it's best not to think about why that might be 🤷. However, there does seem to be a pattern to it when my murderous muse strikes. Something about how sometimes death is preferable to living in suffering or without the ones you love… Oh well, I always make sure to give a warning when I kill.
Thirdly, I always enjoy writing atmusphere, especially nature descriptions. It's just pure pleasure to succeed with a good description, preferably infused with metaphors of various kinds. It's an art form and one that I enjoy both creating and reading (looking at you @prahacat who is a master of long, marvelous, beautiful and amazing descriptions packed with metaphors and symbolism).
Hmm a fourth thing I enjoy working with is short stories. The ones where I leave my readers (and often myself) wondering how it got to that point, what happens after and what's going on? These small, often ambiguous stories are one of my greatest writing joys 😄
And last but not least, I love writing threesomes. It's just and will always be a very, not particularly guilty pleasure. I know exactly why I enjoy this, as the reason is both personal, complicated, but also simple. I enjoy letting more than two characters find joy together, there's just something appealing about this dynamic between three individual characters that never ceases to fascinate me.
I think that was five things.
I will tag @underacalicosky @palfriendpatine66 @piecesofeden11 @barmadumet @grapenehifics @willameena @amadwinter and @heretolurkandnothingmore , no pressure of course.

for the ask game :3
THANK YOU! 🫡 for doing your part to facilitate my January procrastination!
🍬: post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
Qui-Gon was an incredibly annoying person to be close to as an adult, and some of it because of exactly how Dooku raised him and the qualities he actively encouraged in him.
Disclaimer: I love Qui-Gon. He was my first favorite character and remains close to this day. And I realize the absurdity that I'm blaming the origin of this quality on the exact dynamic that I've written an absolute love letter to in my Burning Stars (Sitting, Milk Run+) series. A dynamic I cherish.
But: Dooku encourages Qui-Gon to trust his interpretation of the Force's will over everything - over the Council, over collaborating with the opinions of other Jedi, even Dooku's own opinion. (far from being strict Master, Dooku REPEATEDLY lets Qui-Gon steamroll him in both M&A and DJL, even on issues that he has understandable personal reasons to feel very strongly about) He praises and encourages his unconventionality, tells him his questioning the rules and the Council make him wise, and fosters a lineage sense of underdog troublemaker "us against them" energy, which doesn't hold up to even the gentlest scrutiny. (Yoda IS the Council, Dooku and Sifo are both on the Council, and Qui-Gon is asked to join the Council and declines, so who exactly is this big bad Council that their lineage is getting ganged up on by??)
Anyway, all of these things combine in a way that are fun to write about when he's a spunky teen going on adventures with Dooku, but turn out a very complicated adult in terms of interpersonal life. Have you ever met a person who truly prioritizes their moral and spiritual needs over even the smallest daily issue or communication? Admirable, but OFTEN ANNOYING. Independence and conviction as a Jedi are important qualities, but they tend to play out badly in Qui-Gon's personal life and his relationships. I think the very qualities that make him such an important Jedi and why some people think he could have been the savoir of the prequels also make him a HARD person to hang out.
We see this most often from Obi-Wan's perspective who feels deprioritized by Qui-Gon's focus on his convictions, everything from "sold my best robe for the good of the mission" to the painful moment with Anakin and the Council in TPM. But it seems to be the whole family. Qui-Gon has an apparently decade-long falling out with Rael because he makes a different call than he would have in a terrible situation, and Qui-Gon faults him for that. And as much as I believe there is fervent love there, his adult relationship with Dooku is not super smooth. He himself admits to putting off reaching out to Dooku after he leaves the Order even though he wants/needs to on an emotional level (Yoda just ASKED him to reach out because he's worried) because he knows he'll just get into a fight with him about their different opinions on the Jedi.
And again, I don't think ANY of this is lack of care or compassion on Qui-Gon's part - Qui-Gon obviously cares about all these people very deeply and repeatedly says so and proves it with his actions. He seems as frustrated by the failure of these interactions as anyone. And maybe the blame here rests on Qui-Gon's own personal difficulties in relationships and not problem with the strength of his convictions, but those two things sure tend to combine unpleasantly for his Jedi family.
#oh boy I wrote an essay#and I LOVE this about Qui-Gon LET GOOD GUYS WITH GOOD INTENTIONS BE BAD AT RELATIONSHIPS SOMETIMES JUST AS FLAVOR#none of it makes him a bad person he just has family issues okay#and I don't think “Qui-Gon is bad” is even really an unpopular take#but I'm not saying he's bad#just kind of a really hard person to be close to when you also happen to love him and he loves you too

✿ ★
Ask Game
Alright and you said bloodshed, crimson clover for the fic in another ask so here we go!
★ - What was the scene you most wanted to write? what was the hardest scene to write?
The scene---or rather chapter---that I've most wanted to write hasn't come up yet, as I've been busy working on the prequel to this fic. It will be coming up soon, though, once I get back to working on BCC.
Let's just say...Cody and his brothers have some shocking revelations ;)
The hardest scene to write so far was honestly the middle part of chapter four, the in-between point of Anakin running off and then Cody witnessing Obi-Wan's Weird Force Bullshit™️
Mostly because I couldn't exactly figure out what I wanted to have happen during that brief period of time, but I knew I had to have something because just jumping right into the action would've been jarring.
So I just cut it shorter than I wanted it and had it split between Anakin panicking on comm and then the dynamic duo Booking It to Anakin's position.
✿ - Did anything major change when you started writing this fic to when you finished?
Well, I'm not done with it yet, so who knows! But so far everything is mostly going exactly how I planned it out, since I typically outline all my fics before writing them.
I think the only thing that's really changed is how much I plan on featuring the other Jedi and what's going on in their lives---since at first I was just gonna have them appear here and there, but now I plan on featuring their POVs a lot more.
Mostly to give better insight into Jedi culture as a whole, as well as to highlight Anakin being...Anakin, and his Fall to the Dark Side.

WIP Wednesday: gffa au, established relationship
Context: Obi-Wan has been driving himself into the ground, working nonstop, so his men decide to call in the cavalry-- Surely, General Skywalker will be able to make him see sense.
There's a frantic, almost feverish glint to Obi-Wan's eyes as he taps away at his datapad, body coiled with tension.
Anakin yanks the datapad from his hands, holding it well above his head. A little childish, sure, but effective. Between his height and his strength in the Force, there's not much Obi-Wan can do to get the datapad back. Not without hurting Anakin-- something he's patently unwilling to do.
Obi-Wan's eyes narrow dangerously, but Anakin ignores the expression, plowing on to scold his partner. "You need to eat, Master. And sleep. You won't get anywhere like this."
"Return the datapad, Anakin."
"No." He holds firm. "Not until you sleep atleast five hours."
"Anakin Skywalker," Obi-Wan hisses, still glaring. "Do not try to dom me outside the bedroom."
Fury flares in Anakin's belly. For a moment, he wants to reach forward and grip Obi-Wan's hair. He wants to manhandle Obi-Wan into submission, till he eats and drinks and rests.
But that's exactly what Obi-Wan wants him to do.
They had agreed when starting this that their bedroom dynamics would stay in the bedroom, and since Obi-Wan has not yet reached the point of medical intervention, such an action would be a clear violation of their boundaries.
An easy way for Obi-Wan to declare Anakin in the wrong and ignore what he has to say.
Instead, Anakin gives a tired sigh. "Quit it, Obi-Wan. We both know you're talking shit."
"I'm a Jedi Master," Obi-Wan says serenely. "I believe I quite know what I'm talking about."
"Alright." Anakin decides to call his bluff. "Look me in the eyes and tell me that you're perfectly fine, then. Tell me to my face that there's nothing wrong, Obi-Wan."
The other man wavers. He looks up, and Anakin watches as he opens and closes his mouth.
After a bit, his expression crumples. One hand raises to grip the fabric of Anakin's robes.
Obi-Wan's voice wavers when he speaks again. "I just don't know what to do, Padawan."
#I'm still deciding if I want to set this in the lace me up verse or not#I'd need to alter some things here and there#My work is kind of all over the place rn tbh#obikin#wip wednesday#it's just barely still wednesday lmao
