Hey, do you like Mistborn/Stormlight Archive/other Cosmere stuff? If so I'll definitely reblog more of that but I've been kinda avoiding reblogging too many Cosmere posts because I just assumed none of my followers would care
Well...it's complicated.
First of all, reblog whatever, this is the Reblog Whatever Website.
But second of all, I know more about the Stormlight Archives but only really the first...two? maybe three? books. I like Brandon Sanderson as a writer, I think he's really good. But I engaged with his work pretty exclusively through listening to the audiobooks with my mom, kind of unintentionally. We just happened to occupy the same space a lot. Everyone was always doing their own thing in the living room, but my Mom has never heard of using a headset. So, we all kinda just consumed media vicariously through her.
She listened to Mistborn, too, but Stormlight Archives became a massive family event: we all took our headphones off to listen to Stormlight Archives books with my mom.
I haven't even touched anything remotely related to Brandon Sanderson in years, though. I have no idea what's going on in any of his series anymore. But it was worth it, I have a room that doesn't suck now.

David and Megan, from the Reckoners

Note
I don't know if I'm allowed to submit pre-emptively, but: David Charleston, specifically from Steelheart (he turns 19 by the next book, but he's 18 in this one).
Restrictions: no firearms
Advantages: super-nerd with obsessive information gathering and analysis skills, fairly athletic, totally down to kill in a survival situation, out-of-the-box thinker, surprisingly charming if he could win over Megan.
Disadvantages: specifically skilled with guns rather than weaponry in general, really kind of an acquired taste socially, destructively fixated on revenge at this point in his life, will do stupid shit for people he loves.
Name: David Charleston
Age: 18 (Steelheart)
Restrictions: Can only use weapons supplied in the Hunger Games arena (no firearms as asker said)

Review: The Reckoners Series
The red star Calamity came, and suddenly a small number of people on Earth had superpowers. But they weren’t superheroes – they were tyrants. Let’s face it: realistically, that is what would happen if people suddenly got superpowers. But the Reckoners trilogy is less about the Epics that now rule the world, and more about the plucky, ingenious little guys who want to take them down. And Brandon…

omg idea for another Reckoners fic
Far in the future Megan and David have or adopt a kid or something but one day the two go missing
And who else would David put as the next legal guardian/godfather but Prof (besides Abraham but maybe he's doing something so kid isnt safest with them idk i'll figure it out)
And Prof didnt know so he just woke up to find some teen at his doorstep and now they have to find David and Megs to
Multiverse hyjinks, overcoming tramuas, fears, grief and failures, plus a bunch of "grumpy man happy child" trope bonding ensue

“I trust you with their lives,' Prof said, still writing, 'and them with yours. Don't betray that trust, son. Keep your impulses in check. Don't just act because you can; act because it's the right thing to do. If you keep that in mind, you'll be all right.”

New arrivals over here, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter. It is beautiful! This is my Cosmere shelf.
Stormlight Archives are missing because I have never purchased physical books.

The start of Steelheart was kinda slow but the ending was great. The hints about Megan being an Epic was sprinkled throughout the book and was a nice touch. Also prof being an epic too?? And when he uses his powers he turns evil? 🥺 One question answered slightly 🥺 that's why there are no good Epics 😭

Went to the library for the first time in like seven years today, I had a lovely time! I checked out Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson, I’ve been meaning to check out his stuff for a while now. Super edgy stories don’t usually appeal to me that much, but I have to say that this one has me hooked!

The Courage to Face the Unstoppable
Tyranny thrives when fear keeps us from challenging the mighty. Challenging those at the top is the only way to truly change the game. #QuoteOfDay #BrandonSanderson #Steelheart #TheReckoners Sanderson's words resonate deeply in this beautiful quote ⬇️
“We are afraid to fight the most powerful. And so, the domination of the tyrants continues. So long as they do not fall, the others will not truly fear us.” – Brandon Sanderson, Steelheart

genuine question
so, hey reckoners fans, what do people think of lux actually. like how many people take it super insanely seriously when it comes to canon? Because if it's supposed to be, why is it audible exclusive? I struggle with audiobooks and prefer the paper copies and not everyone has a subscription so it's just weird if something that's mean to still be a big thing for the reckoners universe would be limited access. PLUS it was written by multiple people and it shows, so..?? thoughts??

Gonna read Firefight now because I’m hoping that old Brando was just going through a rough patch when he wrote Steelheart, will report back if I was wrong to give the series a second chance

there's a character in the Reckoners trilogy by Brandon Sanderson who's a good example of this. her corpse stays behind but she reappears every time she's killed. though she usually loses her memories from right before dying
immortality through not being incapable of death but by coming back to life after you die no matter what is such a cool power like it’s just so fucking metal. you can rip me apart if you want, i’ll rise from my own viscera and all you’ll have done is piss me off
