Pokemon Horizons Theory: Kieran's current team (Spoilers for Horizons and the DLC's to Scarlet and Violet!)

Hello everyone, here is Star-Arcana and I am here with a bit of a small theory and some quasi predictions on Kieran's team!

Since Horizons is going to show us his sister Carmine, who is probably going to get her ass handed by the RVT!

With Kieran I had a lot of thoughts and a lot of speculation before it, my most notable one is that he is going to be a dark-counterpart to her in the far future, since we know how his final team looks like in the Indigo Disk. Here is a small team that he owns in my own theory/headcanon for Horizons:

As I mentioned above, I think the writers will set him up as the Anti-Liko due to their similarities as characters: Shy, introverted, have a fierce battle side, are highly sensitive and compassionate, as well as having been rather lonely for much of their lives . So to make someone a dark shadow of what they could have become,had they allowed their darkness to corrupt them, Kieran would be perfect for Liko as her most dangerous rival ever. In the future I will expand on this idea, but as of now, I am sick, so I keep it brief, witty and simple!

The idea of them being counterparts is also based on the fact that they share something in common with 3 of their Pokémon:

Incineroar is of the Litten evolutionary line, which is a Fire/Dark Type Starter Cat, kinda like with the Sprigatito line being Grass Types, with the final evolution Meowscarada being Grass/Dark Type. And since currently Floragato (Grass Type middle evolution of Sprigatito) is Liko's ace, we make here his Torracat as his ace, and that Pokémon is good. To diffrenciate it from Roy's Crocalor, it's ability is Intiminate. These cat Pokémon are a popular pairing and the Incineroar line being Kieran's ace makes sense with his heel-turn and then again his big heel turn once a certian experience with a legendary Pokémon shapes him into becoming good again! So a turn-heel warrior that changes from good, to bad and then true good again, is perfect for him and contrasts with the witchy vibes of Floragato and Meowscarada to his brawler vibes with, in this case, Torracat and Morgrem.

Speaking of whiches, Liko has currently a Hattrem (Psychic Type), which could evolve into Hatterene (Psychic/Fairy Type) in the future . This Pokémon is a female counterpart to the demonic Grimmsnarl(Dark/Fairy Type) line, with Morgrem(Dark/Fiary Type) being the middle evolution of said demonic Pokémon. They are both native to the Galar Region, their dex entries are next to each other and both have as secondary type, fairy, since they are based on fairy tale figures such as forest witches and ogres respectively. They also respond to emotions, but whereas the Hattrem line is irritated by emotions, even happy ones, the Morgrem lines feeds on negative ones as without it, it will bore itself. Because of this, the Hattrem line is for those who are empathic and have a calm personality like Liko, while the Morgrem line is for those who are thinking about gloomy things and have a lot of negative emotions, like Kieran. So a theme of light and darkness is seen with the two, Liko represents light, while Kieran respresents darkness.

Finally there is one Pokémon that is important to the two of them, and has shaped both lives tremendously:

Terapagos!!!

Liko and Kieran had this Pokémon in both of their lives involved heavily, as with Liko it saved it from a missfired Psycho Cut and is rather comportable with her partner, not just because she resembles his friend Lucius from ages past in terms of looks (strongly implied to him being Liko's ancestor), but is also because Liko is really kind-hearted and empathic. Kieran had by the time it forcibly made Terapagos his Pokémon due to his urge to become the hero of his own story and wanting to defeat the main character, who not only bested him many times, but caught the Pokémon he always wanted: Ogerpon!

In Liko's case, it started her adventure with the Rising Volt Tacklers, who are rivals and enemies to the explorers , an evil organisation that sought to hunt Liko down for the pendant containing Terapagos! Kieran sought Terapagos, Area Zero's Hidden Treasure, for himself. Liko due to this event made many irreplacable friends and became a happier person as a result, while Kieran became more lonely with him pushing away everyone after he was left out of something he cared about and wanted to get revenge on the player for taking away "his treasure" away. However Kieran lost Terapagos, as he terastalized it and made it agrressive, but that isn't the end of him. A fight with the Stellarform Terapagos ensues and when everything was nearly hopeless, Kieran got the encouragement needed to fight and help the player to pacify this Pokémon. Afterwards he became nicer and the only one able to help us against Pechurant after it turned his entire village into zombies...again.

In conclusion, they share 2 counterparts to the other's Pokémon evolutionary line, and had the same species of Pokémon.

❤️Bungou Stray Dogs x Pokemon au🤍

I lately have seen at least one or two fanfics with this premise and it got me thinking, what types would bsd characters specialize in? Each character included will get one or two types chosen for them and maybe some more info about them in this au, but I will not be doing detailed teams right now. Sometimes these characters will also be given Pokemon that fall outside of these types. For clarification, in this au no one has special abilities and are instead super powerful Pokemon trainers.

Let’s start with the Port Mafia! In this everyone in the PM is a Dark type specialist. There is also a tradition within both the PM and ADA that once you take someone on as their mentor, you give them a Pokemon.

~Mori~ [Dark/Fairy]

I chose Fairy as a secondary type for him because of his fixation on cute things and girls

Elise already kinda reminds me of a Fairy Pokemon to be honest

You know he has a “soft spot” for Pokemon that are not fully evolved

~Chuuya~ [Fighting/Dark]

Him going around kicking peoples asses with his hands in his pockets at 15 absolutely SCREAMS Fighting type

He gets the Dark type not only because he is a PM member, but because he is half of Twin Dark

You could potentially make him a Psychic specialist because the move “Gravity” is a Psychic move, but he does not read Psychic to me and plenty of different types of Pokemon can learn that move by level up

His team would be really annoying to fight with ground types because you can bet your ass multiple of his Pokemon have the ability Levitate

He has some sort of Mythical Pokemon that he caught that he only brings out occasionally. I haven’t put really any thought into which one however

~Kouyou~ [Dark/Steel]

She’s actually the main reason I decided to give everyone in the PM a Dark type speciality. Her speech to Kyoka about the whole “a flower born in darkness” in reference to leaving the PM made me think of it

I gave her Steel because both she and her special ability wield swords, pretty self-explanatory

Her ace would be Ceruledge, the Fire Blades Pokemon

She has a Hisuian Samurott, because it’s a Dark type sword wielding Pokemon

She also has a Skarmory, a Steel type Pokemon whose wings and tail can be used as swords

~Aktugawa~ [Dark/Fighting]

I was originally against giving him the Fighting type because I did not believe he met the types association with honorable combat. However, I then remembered his kept promise to Atsushi and that made me realize he does fit the type

Dazai gave him a Dark type Pokemon when he became Aktugawa’s mentor. I like to think it was something connected to the mafia like a Honchcrow as a joke

He definitely has a Houndoom

~Yumeno~ [Ghost/Dark]

This kid’s ace is definitely Banette, the Marionette Pokemon. This Pokemon is a vengeful doll! Everything about it fits perfectly with Yumeno

He also has Malamar, which is where the mind control comes in. It would makes sense to me if Mori gave it to them as an Inkay

~Kajii~ [Dark/Normal]

I gave him the Normal type because the moves “Self-Destruct” and “Explosion” are Normal type moves, meaning that bombs would fall into the Normal type

His ace would be Meowscarada, a Pokemon who throws explosive flower bombs

He definitely has to have a Lemon Cream form Alcremie, since he is obsessed with lemons

He would use Voltorb/Electrode, Pineco, and Quilfish/Overqwill depending on his goal and opponents, as they are all Pokemon inspired by bombs

~Tachihara~ [Steel/Dark]

I mean obviously the guy whose special ability can control metal is going to be a Steel type specialist

At first he disliked the Dark type as a whole, but then he came to see a lot of the types good qualities and realize certain misunderstandings

Like Aktugawa he also has a Houndoom

Since he is a HD I am giving him a Lucario like a give the rest of them

Now onto the Armed Detective Agency!

~Dazai~ [Ghost]

When he left the PM he left all of his old Pokemon as well, except for one. Dazai was actually given two Pokemon, one by Mori and one by Oda. You can imagine which one he kept

The Pokemon that comes to mind for what Mori gave to him was Absol, the Disaster Pokemon. This just added to Dazai’s “Demon Prodigy” persona

The Pokemon he took with was Umbreon. This is inspired by @zinder-fox who gave me this idea and that of Atsushi having a shiny Eevee. Oda gave him the Eevee to represent the different possible futures he could have, and although it turned out to be a Dark type it was a friendship level up showing their relationship

Dazai is a Ghost type trainer to represent the affect Oda’s ghost has on him

He and his Dusclops are bandages brothers

He doesn’t have a set secondary type speciality after joining the agency, but it is not uncommon for him to switch in some Psychic or Fairy type Pokemon to his teams. I did think about making his second type being Bug to reference him being an unkillable cockroach

~Atsushi~ [Ghost/Fighting]

With the Headmaster’s ghost constantly haunting him the Ghost type seemed fitting

He is also a Fighting type due to being one of the agency’s main brawlers

While I like the idea of the shiny Eevee turning into a Sylveon, there is no way I can just not see the truth of it being Umbreon, the Moonlight Pokemon. Shiny Umbreon’s golden eyes also work so well! I had wanted Sylveon for three reasons, first because one of its pokidex entries mentions it defeating a dragon (Shibusawa), it learning Moonblast, and the idea of the Pokemon Dazai gave to him being a Fairy type symbolizing Dazai’s growth. Fuck it maybe he will have both, but the Umbreon being the shiny

His ace would have to be Incineroar. This Pokemon is perfect for him with the tiger based design and sharing his bipedal fighting style

Due to him having some currently not explained connection to The Book I think he would probably end up getting a Legendary Pokemon. Chien-Pao would be my top pick as it is a big white cat

~Kyoka~ [Ice/Ghost]

With her special ability being named “Demon Snow” it’s obvious she has to be good with Ice types

At first I was torn for her second speciality being Dark, Steel, or Ghost. I decided to give the first two to Kouyou and choose Ghost for her. This is because Demon Snow serves to haunt Kyoka with her parents deaths, and then later turning out to be more of a guardian spirit

Since she was trained to be an assassin I think maybe the Pokemon Kouyou gave her was a Greninja. While Inteleon is closer to being a true assassin, he isn’t a dark type. Yes I know Verlaine was actually the one to train Kyoka, but Kouyou absolutely would have gifted Kyoka a Pokemon. Kyoka decides to keep the Pokemon, using them to protect her friends and family at the agency

Since Atsushi brought Kyoka into the agency I think he would have gotten her a Pokemon. Thinking of the bunny stuffie he got her I think it would be a Buneary

She also has a Seviper because the knife on its tail works with the knife she carries

~Ranpo~ [Pyschic/Normal]

When we would first meet Ranpo he would completely deny his talent with Normal type Pokemon, instead relying purely on his entirely Psychic type teams, eventually he learns to except it

I can imagine him with a Gothitelle

~Yosano~ [Fairy/Steel]

Healing is very much a part of the Fairy type, so it fits there. There is also the thing of the soldiers calling her “Angel” which fits with the type as well

I couldn’t pass up Steel thinking of the outrageous amount and size of the blades she carries around

Blissey is a staple of her team, being her doctor’s assistant

Her massive ass knives reminded me of a Tinkton, so that is her main damage dealer

She also has an Absol, this is because of her being the “Angel of Death” and his Mega form absolutely looking like a dark angel

~Kunikida~ [Fighting]

Kunikida is an incredible fighter, having learned from Fukuzawa, and he has earned this type

I don’t see him having a strong association with any other type, but I definitely could have missed something

~Tanizaki~ [Ice/Psychic]

His special ability is named “Light Snow” and causes illusions, so right there you have Ice and Psychic

~Kenji~ [Fighting/Ground]

His special ability grants him super human strength and durability, along with being the agency’s main brawler. That’s a Fighting type right there

My initial reaction was Grass type, but during Kenji’s confrontation with Tetcho, we learn that Kenji changed the shape of the mountains with his bare hands, so I feel like Ground fits better

His ace is Miltank, the Milk Cow Pokemon

He also has a Conkeldurr, the Muscular Pokemon

~Fukuzawa~ [Steel/Fighting]

While his swordsmanship already earns him the Steel and Fighting type, he is incredible also with hand to hand combat, as is shown when he rescues child Ranpo

He has a Samurott, a samurai-based Pokemon with a sword

He also has a Kartana, which is clearly based on the katana

While I am resistant to giving him a Legendary Pokemon, I do really want to give him a Crown Sword form Zacian. Fukuzawa is the “Silver Wolf” that wields a sword, what fits better than a sword-wielding wolf Pokemon?

Up next is the Guild members I wanted to do (Sorry if you are a fan of the others, most just aren’t important)

~Fitzgerald~ [Steel/Normal]

The two money associated Pokemon I wanted to give him, Gholdengo and a Persian with Payday, are Steel Normal so that’s what he gets

~Lovecraft~ [Water/Normal]

Unlike the others, he is not a trainer, but a Legendary Pokemon in disguise

He gets Water because his home is in the water, and he gets Normal because he desperately wants to go back to sleep. Sleep-based Pokemon such as Snorlax, Slowpoke, and Slackoth are all Normal types, so he should join them

~Poe~ [Ghost]

Not only does it fit his aesthetic, but his special ability has the word “Morgue” in it do the Ghost type is obvious

In this au Karl is a Zigzagoon, the Tiny Raccoon Pokemon

Since his special ability has “Black Cat” in the name, I decided to give him an Umbreon

I could not resist giving Poe a Corviknight, the Raven Pokemon

For the Hunting Dogs I think all of them should have a Fighting type specialty, except Tachihara. I also think all of them should have a dog-inspired Pokemon so I am giving all of them a Lucario

~Fukuchi~ [Fighting]

Not only is he a HD, but his special ability makes weapons stronger, peak Fighting type

I feel like he would have a Chien-Pao, since the Pokemon is made by the hatred of those that feel by a sword

~Teruko~ [Fighting/Dark]

She uses her special ability to turn people into children and the elder and tortures them. Seems pretty dark to me

~Tetcho~ [Fighting/Steel]

Even though everyone fights with a sword, his special ability lets him lengthen it, which gives him the Steel type

~Jono~ [Fighting/Psychic]

His superhuman hearing let him figure out someone’s mood by their heartbeat and the movement of their muscles. It would be easier to just give him a mind reading Pokemon

He should have an Espeon

Finally we got the Decay of the Angel

~Fydor~ [Dark/Psychic]

Since he is “The Demon Fyodor” he obviously has to be a Dark type specialist

He can pretty much already see the future already, so Psychic it is

He absolutely has to have a Raticate

His ace would be an Alakazam

He should have a Legendary Pokemon

~Nikolai~ [Flying/Psychic]

He has Flying type Pokemon because his whole dream is to be free like a bird

His secondary type is Psychic because Teleport is a Psychic type move, so it fits with his special ability

I NEED him to have Blacephalon

He can also have a Galarian Mr. Mime, as a treat. I chose him of regular Mr. Mime because the color scheme fit better

~Sigma~ [Flying/Normal]

Him having a flying casino I think qualifies him for the Flying type

Dazai and Fyodor roasting by calling him a desperate ordinary man a bunch of times gives him the Normal type

~ Bram Stoker~ [Ghost]

His titles being “Lord of the Undead” and “Prince of the Dead” makes him even more of a Ghost type trainer than he already was being a vampire

I found a list of vampiric Pokemon which are: Gorebyss, Golbat, Gliscor, and Misdreavus. He would have all of them on his teams

He would also have Drampa, a Pokemon that makes friends will children and is protective of them

Hang on I just discovered that the upcoming raid event with Stonjourner, Eiscue, Armarouge and Ceruledge is (according to Serebii) not version-exclusive (you’d think that the fact that Eiscue is on the left and Armarouge is on the right in the announcement banner would’ve tipped me off about that but apparently not) and while I originally took this as an opportunity to catch as many Armarouge (and Stonjourner) in Scarlet and as many Ceruledge (and Eiscue) in Violet as possible, I’m excited to expand out a bit and fill some extra slots in my Pokédex. I think my shinies and Empoleon may end up leaving my team in favour of an Eiscue/Stonjourner and Ceruledge/Armarouge

Ooh, when the Chars meet their opposite-version counterparts (except I’m not also calling these two Char and they’ll hopefully have their secondary types as their Tera types given those are the ones promoted on the banner)! I bet Char the Armarouge would be really excited to meet her new teammate (who’s just like “stop. Leave me alone”) while Char the Ceruledge is just like “oh great, another Charcadet evo (or as you call us, Fire Knight). Is this an excuse to replace me or mock me for my height because I swear to Giratina at least Spriggie has my back. Why is that trickster cat the only one around here who has my back? This is why I hate life” (disclaimer: last night I realised it’s not impossible to get Pokémon of not-average height in raids, I believe when I checked with the height rater in Mesagoza Cyanide the Ceruledge is the same height as Char the Ceruledge and I know I caught Cyanide in a raid. It’s actually a funny story, one time I battled this Poison Tera type Ditto in a raid with both Spriggie and Char (I lost/quit a few times) and then later on I battled a Poison Tera type Ceruledge in a raid so in a way, I’ve battled Poison Tera type Ceruledge twice in raids in Violet already (and damn, Ceruledge rocks the Poison Tera hat and coating). Sadly no funny experience like that in Scarlet yet). I guess the Armarouge in that situation is just like “how is it I’m not even the only Psychic-type on the team and I’m still the only one who hasn’t broken any laws recently?” To be fair, I don’t think Stonjourner’s breaking any laws either but my Violet aces (Spriggie the Meowscarada, Char the Ceruledge, Knight the Iron Valiant and Cherry the Iron Leaves) are another story
