no, hun, it's not just you. you see, i've got quite a soft spot for lowkey insecure kaeya. it only makes sense??

i touched on this in my previous post, but i think kaeya secretly worries that you'll come to your senses one day and decide that being with him is more trouble than he's worth? he's scared shitless that he's inherently disposable (after what his bio father - and later, diluc - did to him) and probably suffers from a massive case of imposter syndrome when you tell him you're in love with him.

i think a big reason why he "peacocks" so much is bc he knows he's beautiful on the outside but thinks he's ugly on the inside and not worth sticking around for. beneath that cocky façade, there's a little boy who's terrified of being left all alone again. so he overcompensates by using his good looks and charming smile to win ppl over bc deep down he thinks that's all he's got going for him. of course you want to fuck him, he thinks. who doesn't?

but YOOOO when you touch his soul and kiss his scars, and you hold his heart in your hands like it's the most precious thing you've ever held? <i'm trying not to fucking cry here 😅> you hold it so close to your own heart and take care of it like it's yours (it is now, as far as he's concerned btw), kaeya fucking freaks the fuck out. he knows how to lose people. he's all too familiar with being discarded and abandoned.

but what he's NOT used to is being seen, accepted, and loved for exactly who he is, right to his very core. the first time you spend the night with him without having sex, he doesn't even sleep. he just lies there and watches you as tears blur his vision. he holds you and breathes in the scent of your hair as he kisses the top of your sleepy head, quietly thanking his stars for you and hoping his sniffling doesn't wake you up.

he'll know how it feels to be loved unconditionally and it's all bc of you. trust, this man will never step out of your relationship or do anything else to jeopardize what he has with you.

Honestly my answers will sort of be an inversion of yours: Jean as someone I really appreciate but I'm not actively into and Venti as unhealthy obsession and fandom bicycle. (Thanks for introducing me to that term, lol.)

Jean

How I feel about her: I don't brainrot over her for her own sake, but as my de facto main in co-op, the permanent healer in my overworld team, and one of Mondstadt's most important characters I'm very fond of her. She deserves more breaks. So so much.

Her design fascinates me too; if you use the alt version of her default outfit it looks very modest and like everything's covered when she's standing still, only for more skin to be exposed on her upper torso when you run or otherwise move around. It feels like a visual reflection of how she hides/suppresses the more human, emotional parts of herself to perform her role.

Romantic ships: I'm not actively into any but Jean/Lisa just makes sense to me. Lisa is such a fun character to bounce off her. You've got me intrigued about Jean/Eula and Jean/Kaeya as well, and I should look into Jean/Diluc too.

I s2g her voice lines make her sound like she's starting to have a crush on Traveller too. That could be really wholesome; they could periodically show up in Mond, speedrun solving a ton of citizens' problems, and whisk her off to beautiful corners of Teyvat she'd never dream of having time to visit otherwise. And they both have sibling issues... I'm selling myself on this as I type it, dear lord.

Platonic OTPs: All of the above are also wonderful platonically. Also Jean and Venti!! God!!! I neeeed more interactions between them; it's a massive shame the game never showed us Jean or Diluc processing the Venti-Barbatos reveal and the religious crisis that would definitely cause. Especially for Jean! I wish this oneshot was a longer multichapter so badly.

I'm fascinated by the idea of them having a lot in common under the surface, especially if we compare Jean to how Venti may have been in Mond's cultivation period. Even their outfits have a lot of design elements in common!

Additionally, considering her parallels with/idolisation of Vennessa, I love the idea of Venti having unresolved guilt/unprocessed trauma about whatever happened to Vennessa in the end + maybe her overworking herself for Mondstadt until her death, and him screaming internally watching Jean go down the same path. I can't get enough of fics where he helps her relax for once. The two of them should go on some long field trip where they coax each other into acknowledging they're people that feel things.

Unpopular opinion: Not sure I have any! I'm not familiar with general fandom opinions about her but I'd be surprised if I saw someone severely mischaracterising her, tbh. She doesn't feel like a difficult character to grasp. Maybe my perception's skewed since I tend to obsess over human dumpster fires, though.

Something I wish would happen: mainly (gestures at the platonic section), but seconding you that we need her to make progress with Barbara too. I'd love to see her be dragged into more shenanigans with Diluc as well, though I'm biased as a combined-Diluc-and-Jean main.

Venti

How I feel about him: I probably need help with the amount I think about this goddamn character. I didn't truly understand the term 'comfort character' until I started obsessing over him. I project onto him a bit too much and I want to emotionally smash him to bits and scrape him together again.

Even without the brainrot, he's just fascinating; he's clearly a significant character that will almost certainly be tied to massive lore drops later on, and the vague hints about him having time powers mean that even the way he fundamentally experiences reality can be theorised about with wildly different ideas being equally valid.

He has me freezing up at every damn mention of wind and/or time and/or music in this god-forsaken game. And there are a lot of them.

Romantic ships: as I said, he's the fandom bicycle for me. Everyone gets a ride. I especially love zhongven in multiple permutations, and their longevity means fanworks for other Venti ships can easily slot in past zhongven as well. Otherwise I really like kaeven, I used to be more into diluven but kaeven has completely eclipsed it for me, and I'm really intrigued about the potential of furiven as well (though I usually approach that platonically).

Non-romantic OTPs: any of the above if not being done romantically, plus Venti+Jean and Venti+Vennessa (see Jean's section lmao) and Venti+everyone in old mond- especially NB and RHW. And I really really want to see him interact with Furina. There are so many people he either has a fascinating relationship with already or has potential to.

While it's not a ship, I find the idea that he's slept with the Tsaritsa at least once pre-fallout very funny.

Edit: Venti having a non-reciprocated crush on Vennessa is interesting as well.

Unpopular opinions: I'm not sure I have any in a tumblr fandom context? Maybe that any ships between him and a mortal who's grown up worshipping him (like diluc/venti, jean/venti, etc) would be a lot more of an emotional minefield for both parties than people tend to explore, with the mortal having to go through a religious crisis while Venti clearly just wants to be treated like a person + could be paranoid as hell about whether their consent to anything is genuine.

That's not a criticism of those ships, though! The opposite, actually. I'd love to see a long fic that really digs into that.

Something I wish would happen: ...there are so many things I could put here. The main ones are a) a Venti-is-Barbatos reveal (and maybe a reveal of his darker secrets, like any abyss ties) to all of Mondstadt, forcing him to stop avoiding his problems for once, and b) for Venti to be pushed into a corner and/or go apeshit and reveal just how much he was lying about his power level.

I need a Vennessa-Venti reunion as well. Please please please.

kaeya kisses you like you are fragile, and need to be protected. he is gentle with his movements, but each one is purposeful. he loves having make out sessions, especially after a stressful day. will hover over you as he kisses your lips, but will also make it a regular habit to kiss your neck because he knows it relaxes you. 

diluc kisses you like he might never get the chance to again, like he’s going to lose you if he isn’t careful. he longs to hold you all day, so when he finally gets the chance at the end of the day, he will kiss you deeply as soon as he sees you, no matter where the pair of you are. when you’re alone, he’ll hold you close and tell you he loves you after pecking your lips.

thoma kisses you like you’re his best friend in the whole world (romantically). he wants you to know how much he appreciates you, and is a giver. will get into bed next to you at the end of the day, kiss your forehead and probably tell a dumb joke neither of you really find very funny. has extremely soft lips (don’t ask why i know this information).

childe kisses you like there is nobody else in the world but the two of you. he is nothing if not passionate, and this never-ending burning passion presents itself when he kisses you too, not just in the heat of battle. puts his hands all over you when he kisses you, not necessarily in a sexual way, he’s just really glad that you're there and wants to be in the moment. will take your breath away because of how rough his kisses are.

zhongli kisses you like you are his most prized treasure. has a massive habit of taking your hand in his gloved one and kissing the back of it as you both take walks around liyue. when you’re at home, he’ll be slow and gentle with you, because he wants you to know how much he appreciates you. however, if he’s feeling a little more needy or has missed you all day he will kiss your neck multiple times before moving back to your lips, whilst holding you close. and no, this isn’t whilst things are happening between the two of you, this is just him saying hello. (i don't think he understands mortal greetings very well).

like twt is a hellhole in itself, but it is MASSIVELY toxic and weird how some of y’all act about certain ships that aren’t even implied.

y’all will go on about how “amazing” rarepairs are if they’re wlw/mlm, and you’ll ship characters who barely or don’t even interact. and that in itself is NOT problematic!! i’m a rarepairs fan too.

but i literally saw someone mention how “gross” Focalors x Neuvillette is. even tho… they’re both grown adults, and Furina isn’t depicted like a child like Nahida (who is also hundreds of years old, but is shown as a child). like if you don’t see them romantically/see them more like family, that’s fine!! that’s valid!! but nowhere is it implied, hinted or outright said that they’re like/are family (like Diluc and Kaeya, Jean and Barbara, Albedo and Klee, etc.). so like,, What. please remember to differentiate your hcs from canon 😭 like i personally see Ganyu and Xiao as a family with Zhongli, but if you wanna ship them idrc. cuz they’re all pretty much the same age (fought together during the Archon War). like that’s a non problematic ship right there.

y’all shipped so many characters before they were even released (ex wriolette, chlorivia, which are valid in their own right btw), but how dare people ship Wriothesley and Chlorinde (for example) instead /sarc. like,, the two characters who DID have more screen time with each other than with their “fandom popular s/o” (Wriothesley is probably an exception tbh).

-you're taken in by the Kamisatos and Thoma -they act more like your older siblings but you all love each other -you often go with them to Inazuma to socialize -your role model is Yae Miko and Ayato, which makes them proud of you, but Ayaka and Thoma are just scared of the result of someone with both Yae's and Ayato's characteristics -your bffs are Yoimiya, Itto and Heizou. Though the Kamisatos don't really approve of Itto, it doesn't stop you haha -ofc with Ayato being who he is, you get spoiled to death (i mean its necessary to be spoiled everywhere right?) -you are the only one who can actually win against Thoma in hotpot -ofc you get a really bad stomachache later so Ayaka takes care of you -you learn a few not so great traits from Ayato, and fully support Ayaka's relationships haha

firstly i want to say. i know kaeya is like The Slut. but i think when he falls in love…he’s a pathetic loverboy. you must all know my agenda to show you that he is quite pathetic when he’s in love. i think it takes a lot to get there for him—i feel like it takes a good amount of convincing him you’re they’re to stick around. but once he realizes it. majorly pathetic. such a loverboy. he’s a ROMANTIC. you’re gonna be WOOED. charmed. romanced!

also he’s sorta obsessive. idk kaeya’s not normal anyways. and i don’t think he could be massively normal if he found someone he really loved.

if we wanna go deranged i think he expects no boundaries lol. like what are those, anyways? why would you set boundaries with someone you love?

i think he’s rather convincing, too, in getting you to concede on said boundaries. he is known for being a sweet talker! it’s easy to concede to him!

i also think. kaeya is a hungry sort. and what i mean by this is…he’s had a lot taken from him. ya know? or a lot has sort of been pulled out from underneath him. (spoilers but…from being dropped into a foreign land to losing the man he saw as a father to then losing diluc in some way) he’s been left out in the cold, in many ways. he is a little greedy for warmth and very hungry for something he can call only his.

if you willingly allow yourself to be his, he will spoil you a great deal. and if you don’t, i think he’d still try to spoil you, which is almost worse. my other agenda is that he’s a terrible brat tamer—don’t get me wrong, he adores brats! he loves the attitude! but he also loves to spoil. and he likes when you’re greedy with him, too. i think he likes taking good little angels and turning them into brats. wants you to be possessive of him, too. throw a tantrum in public! cause a scene! i think it kinda gets him going ://

"Damn it. Help me…" You chuckled nervously. "Can't believe those stalkers thought my book was one of ADDICKTZ again…"

Which "tea" will they spill this time, you wonder? Will they leak that Dainsleif likes "The Scarlet King's Court Jester"? Or maybe they'll say that Zhongli is trying to reconnect with the modern age by reading contemporary fantasy novels? You rolled your eyes, shaking the love letter like you would with a polaroid. 

Oh wow, the contents of this letter are so enthralling. 10/10. You're so impressed. Great job, stalkers.

It's lovely poetry, but once you encounter numerous stalker fans, it sours and loses its charm. After being friends with Diluc, Kaeya, and Ajax for most of your life, you've grown incredibly desensitized by unhinged fans. You have so many bizarre expectations of them that you can't remember the last time you were actually astonished by something they did. Perhaps you'd be surprised if this love letter was for Itto– he doesn't like novels or receiving these types of riddle-y love letters. He'd probably prefer getting a used towel instead.

It's possible that Kaedehara Kazuha from the other unit wrote this.

The thought of him made a goofy smile creep up your face unsuspectingly. Damn it. You're starting to feel like one of those fangirls– but can you blame yourself? Kaedehara Kazuha is just so utterly captivating. Maybe he's the one who intentionally put this in your book– can't a person dream? There's nothing wrong with imagining yourself as the protagonist of some romantic escapade with an idol, right? 

Someone cleared their throat.

"Oh, freaki–" You jolted and nearly dropped the card. When you caught a clear view of his face, you immediately felt relieved.

"Ah, good evening Master Diluc." You bowed slightly, sneakily slipping the red paper back inside your book. "You have nothing in your schedule for this week."

"Is that so?" He hummed with a small smile on his face. "Well, do you have anything on yours?"

"It's positively empty, sir." You grinned.

"P-Please, (Y/n)." He covered his face with one hand, avoiding your feigned business-as-usual eyes. "I know that you're my producer now but can we drop the act?"

"We can, but this is so much fun though!" You beamed. "It's like our friendship got ten extra steps– don't take that fun away from me!"

Diluc grunted laconically. You do have a point. The only real change from being a childhood friend to a producer was a fancier title and a damn good paycheck. Fans would kill to be Diluc Ragnvindr's childhood friend AND producer. There's no one else he trusts as much as you. He was a reckless child and you were always there to stop him from getting into trouble. You never failed to clean up after him whenever he decided he'd build a massive medieval lego set. 

That's why it's such a miracle that he grew up to be such a quiet and reserved person. To think this was your friend who got banned from Disneyland of all places– Nowadays, he's more focused on inheriting his father's company and this "unexpected side hustle" of his.

"Dove, since we're both free– do you want to try a bottle of this year's wine?"

"Diluc, we're good friends, so you know that we both loathe wine, right?"

"Ngh, you're right. I can't say I know what possessed me to ask that question." He flinched. "Wait, no, I do– listen (Y/n), Adeline wanted me to come to a Snezhnayan Dawn Winery event this Friday and I don't have a plus one."

"Oh?"

Not that it happens often but Diluc's hilariously affectionate when he's completely inebriated. He does not do well with foreign alcohol. When you were both rebellious teens, he went out and drank a bottle of fire-water with Ajax behind Uncle Crepus' back. This was around the time these two "frenemies" started getting along. A few hours later, Diluc sent you a couple of slurred-voiced messages of how much he loves and cares about you– which was abruptly wrapped up by two quick texts:

"***friend i mean friend."

Given how awkward it was, you promised Diluc that you won't tell a single soul about this when morning came and he seemed both mortified and relieved about your proposal… You'd rather not have a "part two" of that.

In addition, Ajax acted weird around you ever since. He always gives you a look of pity. Last week, you asked him how he knew the password to your phone when he lost his phone and needed to call his producer. He answered that he "got it from Diluc when he was drunk" with a traumatized look on his face. That was four years ago; you're all in your twenties now. You've changed all your passwords since then. 

You want to help him, but you're still a bit hesitant. He's bound to drink fire-water this Friday. Given how you and Ajax would be unwilling to accompany him, you decided to throw Kaeya under the bus.

He's the brute force type of Yandere. Throwing both his name and weapon around to get what he wants, though it is often earned through honor and good gaming skills. At least, with kids.

Itto has that masculine charm of "I don't know what the fuck is going on just point me at the bad guys". So he's not gonna be the type of person as Albedo, Kaeya, Kazuha, or Lisa to take his time capturing his Darling. When he knows what he wants, he goes after it much like the onikabuto that he uses to play with kids.

So, at first, he'll likely ask you to be his darling. With that comes several things, of course: poverty, likely being on the run, dealing with several very rambunctious boys who likely have no table manners. If you're not persuaded by his massive pecks and fun personality, you likely will say no to him.

Of course, Itto is much like a bull. When he goes after something, he's far to stubborn to stop. So he'll keep. On. Asking. And asking and asking.

Both of you will get tired of it, naturally. Because of his Oni nature, he's very quick to act on impulse. For instance, when he thinks about dying his horns, he literally says "I'm getting the boys on this asap!" (About Itto: Horns line I believe.) So when the idea of kidnapping you comes into his head, he doesn't plan it out or really fight on it. As an Oni, especially one who's had more than a couple of run-ins with the law (yanfei would find him a menace), he's probably not against doing things that he doesn't think hurts people.

You see, in Itto's mind, you are a delicate little thing that he's so in love with and must protect. He can't just let you go get yourself killed, even if you have a vision, or if you are a simple farmer. Besides, his boys love you just as much as he does- though they'll not be as romantically involved with you- and he wants to make everyone happy. You'll be happy with him, right?

I think that he's also the type to manhandle his Darling, much like Tartaglia, Hu Tao, or Albedo. When it comes to your affection, he's not afraid to force you into doing it, whether that be done by using fear, pain, or just him wrapping your arms around his waist as he holds your head close.

Another thing worth noting is that while he's a very strong yandere in both hot headed temper and body, he's... very weak to beans. So naturally, he keeps anything and everything beans away from you and himself. Especially soy beans. Why? Don't ask me! (I think he's got a grudge against vegan foods).
