Illumi Zoldyck, The One True Heir

I'm feeling better enough that the illumi brain rot is settling back in (as it should) so therefore i'm going to talk about my personal head canon about the one true heir of the Zoldyck Family.

Let's begin!

Illumi may not be the current heir to the Zoldyck Family, but in his eyes he is the one true heir. We all know how he vies for that role, to control killua, control the heir, and therefore be the one singlehandedly in charge. Which is the exact same thing Silva wants, but pretends to be the cool dad and yet has zero qualms with his children abusing, using, and hating on each other! In his life, Illumi was definitely molded like Killua to be the future head of the family and probably each Zoldyck child was molded, in some way, to become the head of the family if the situation ever called for them to take up the mantle. But I think Illumi isn't the heir is because Silva doesn't trust him and can't control him. And he's a little more evil than what's expected of an assassin (love him for that honestly. Silva must accept the monster he created. Silva must deal with the consequences of his own actions.)

That and the relationship between Silva and Illumi is probably very botched. Like I said above, Silva doesn't trust Illumi but trust goes both ways because neither does Illumi trust Silva. Silva was a terrible dad and whatever mistakes he made with Illumi he tried to fix with the later kids, Killua specifically. No doubt Illumi knows it but tolerates Silva anyway for his own and everyone else's sake. My headcanon is that when one enters the room the other leaves just to keep peace in their own home, if the situation allows. If they're working together on a mission, they're profesisonal enough to cooperate, but if not, then nope.

Another factor, I think, is the honor or code of being an assassin has eroded through the generations. For example, in the chimera ant arc, Zeno stated that he never kills bystanders on the job and briefly lamented about that when he thought he killed Komugi. Where as the current generation as no problem killing bystanders. Illumi doesn't care and will use bystanders. Milluki doesn't care, collateral damage know? Kalluto doesn't care (his weakness may be to enjoy torturing his victims). Even though Killua doesn't want to be an assassin, he is decensitized to death and doesn't care when he does slice and dice a person up, like on the blimp in the hunter exam arc) Who can we blame for this? The person who taught them and stood silently by to let these 'bad' habits sink in and become permanent. SILVA.

I can see Silva accepting the unnecessary death toll his children rack up. Possibly even rationalizing it. Even Silva himself will kill a bystander if it is necessary, though not to the extreme as his children. Headcanon: To fulfill the end goal of their missions, he'll let needle men and explosions slide. Silva might even be lenient with Kalluto's affinity towards torture, since he himself collects knives from serial killers. Another headcanon I have is that Silva took a morbid interest in serial killers (totally different from professional assassins), their methods and truthfully sees more of himself (at least the younger him from years past) in Kalluto rather than Killua.

The bridge between Silva and Illumi has been burned, but they're still standing at the edge and shouting at eachother from both sides. Toxic be as toxic does.

The instant you learned that your husband was coming home, you went to the bedroom to wait for him, just as he liked.  It was late, anyway.  Too late to greet him at the door.  The baby had long since gone to sleep, too, so there was nothing to be done but wait.  Illumi preferred it this way.

When the sound of footsteps heralded Illumi’s arrival, you stood, ready to greet him.  You heard his footsteps pause as he peeked into the baby’s room before continuing down the hallway.

Illumi never truly smiled when he saw you, but by now you knew enough of his mannerisms to recognize the tiny hint of warmth that came to his eyes.  Or at least, you liked to believe it was there.  Regardless of his feelings, you smiled and opened your arms for him as you’d been taught so many times.

“You’re back!” You wrapped your arms around Illumi in a soft embrace.  He reciprocated; his arms encircled your body and held you close.  It was a facsimile of intimacy, but you’d grown to accept it.

“Yes.”  He stated, drawing back and regarding you with those black, infinitely deep eyes of his and running a cool, calloused finger down your cheek.  “Did you miss me?”

You nodded.  “Yes.”  There had once been a time when you’d treasured the short periods of solitude that came when Illumi left on assignments, but now you found yourself aching for him whenever he left.  Not just for his touch, his presence.  

“Good.”  Illumi gave you what you hoped was a look of approval.  “You saw the doctor yesterday.” 

You nodded.

“And?”

“He said everything is well.  My body has recovered nicely, and we can...” You felt your face heat up.  You’d given birth to your first child several months ago, much to Illumi’s delight, but complications had kept you from being intimate with your husband for much longer than intended.  You’d often wondered if he’d missed the intimacy, but Illumi had given no indication of being frustrated with having to wait.  His current enthusiasm (as much as he could muster), fueled your suspicions that he might have been silently suffering.

“Take off your clothes and get on the bed.”  As always, Illumi got straight to the point.  Perhaps he had missed the intimacy, after all.

Your eyes widened at his bluntness.  “But, Illumi-” 

He cocked his head to the side as his eyes bored into yours.  “Is there a problem?”

“N-no.”  You shook your head, already beginning to slip out of your clothes.  “No problem.”

Naked, you stretched out on the bed and stared at the ceiling as you listened to the rustle of Illumi’s clothes falling to the ground.  The mattress shifted as he joined you on the bed, and soon Illumi was on top of you, his hands planted on either side of your head as his eyes locked onto yours.  

“____...”  He stared down at you, unblinking, and you felt yourself withering under his gaze as his eyes swept over your body.  It had been months since he’d seen you like this, naked and exposed beneath him; you wondered if the changes to your body disappointed him.  You shifted slightly, opening your legs a little wider to better accommodate your husband’s body, but instead of lowering himself onto you, Illumi drew back and sat back on his heels.

“What is it?”  You gave him a confused look.

“You look different.”  Illumi’s impassive gaze continued to sweep over you, his eyes momentarily pausing on your breasts and stomach.  Instinctively, you moved to cover yourself, cheeks burning in shame, but Illumi stopped you with a word.  “Don’t.”  He reached forward to run a hand down your body, seemingly enjoying the way his fingertips pressed into your now-soft stomach.

Besides, you thought to yourself, rolling onto your back and hugging your knees to your chest, Illumi would probably approve if you kept him inside you for longer.  You smiled to yourself.  He’d called you a good wife.  It had been the first time you’d received such a compliment.  With any luck, you’d hear it again soon.

My Illumi Zoldyck Headcanons

Once again, because I accidentally deleted my post, and now I have to rewrite it from memory alone.

If you don't sympathize with dear Illumi, then you probably shouldn't read this because this is about to be me being soft, sad, and protective as fuck over my babie Illu.

So... these are headcanons that have been building up since I started Hunter x Hunter 14 years ago, back when I was 9 and I had the biggest crush on Illumi and Hisoka (yes, they creeped me out, but I still had a big phat crush).

I've been watching HxH reactions the past two months and I don't understand how people feel so bad for Killua and Alluka for what they went through but don't realize the other children went through the same, and how Illumi probably went through worse to turn out like he is. I refuse to believe Illumi was born as a perfect, obedient, murder doll.

So what I believe in:

• Illumi was heir for, at least, 10 years until Killua was born and Zeno and Silva saw more Zoldyck in a newborn baby than in sweet Illumi, who had too much Meteor City slums in his blood. I refuse to believe that Killua was chosen as heir solely on "potential" alone, what kind of potential does a baby have? Illumi was too dark for Zeno's taste.

• Dear Illumi was an only child for five years until Milluki was born. He had no one to comfort him, no brothers to rely on. He was basically a test child for Zeno and Silva, Kikyo probably didn't have much say on Illumi's upbringing. He was tortured, beaten, and punished until all was left was a perfect submissive and obedient murder doll.

• How many childish things were denied to him? Were his soft toys taken from him when he was dropped in Heaven's Arena and Milluki was born? Did he come back to a bedroom that was as alien as the new toddler in the house? Did he miss his plushies and his baby blanket? Did he come to a room that suddenly was bigger than him? Was all the softness taken from Illumi, and instead given heaviness in return? Was he smacked for crying? Did Silva break every bone in his little fingers when he tried to hold hands after he turned six?

• Did the butlers ever try to help Illumi like they did Killua? Did they turn a blind eye to the quiet child with the big black eyes? Was Tsubone's dislike for Kikyo-sama so great that it extended to lonely, sweet Ilumi who resembled his mother with his dark hair and dark eyes? Did she see so much Meteor Slums in him that she decided he wasn't worth more than trash? Did she ignore him when sweet Illumi's lip trembled and his eyes shone like onyx with unshed tears because it was better for him to "cry it out", or did she go to Silva to inform him, until all the tears were beaten out of Illumi again and again until he learnt to jam needles into the back of his head so he couldn't feel anything anymore?

• Ten years old Illumi who would play with five years old Milluki, who would look at him warmly and would make Illumi's lips twitch into what he no longer remembered was a smile. Illumi who snuck candies and snacks that weren't even poisoned to Millu after his training, who would get him soft toys, and games to play with, until Silva decided Illumi was too soft and spoiling Milluki too much and made him take over Milluki's torture training. Milluki who loved his "kind aniki" even after he stopped bringing him treats, even when he would whip him because Illumi came back bruised like a plum the first time he ever refused to do something. Illumi who later on gave Killua chocobos, and brought dolls and makeup for Kalluto who had a penchant for girls things, because no one had ever thought of bending the rules for Illumi even if they all did for his brothers.

• Did he go through training none of the other children went through? Was he forced through "seduction training" at the tender age of thirteen? Small, delicate Illumi with bite marks on his small neck and rope burn on his wrists, did Silva think it was too much after Illumi was so averse to touch and his eyes were so blank they seemed to swallow all the light? Did Kikyo say no more, not the other children, Illumi is the only one I will give to you to break? Did they ever notice the way Illumi's mind would wander, leaving behind a corpse? Illumi, so eager-to-please and wanting so bad to be loved by a father that didn't like him, that he would ask for seconds when he slapped him, that would press his forehead to the ground in forgiveness when he killed one of his special tutors before they even touched him?

• Illumi who is half out of his mind with fear all the time because which punishment will it be this time? What did his brothers do now, that Illumi has to take the blame for? What transgression did Illumi make this time? What will Kikyo take offense at now that the only thing that will calm her is raking her talons through her eldest's skin? Illumi takes job after job after job, because he loves his family so much but Kukuroo mountain is the setting to almost all his nightmares. Illumi who is so terrified because he takes punishment for mistakes he didn't even commit that he does not allow space for imperfection in his brothers because he doesn't want them to be punished too.

• Illumi, age fourteen, not even blinking as he was told he was no longer heir, Killua age four grabbing at his mother's skirt as his aniki bowed at his father's feet apologizing for not being good enough. Illumi understood the decision, he was not special, he could tell, no one had ever bothered with him as a child, the butlers never bent the rules for him like they did for Killua, his parents were not lenient with him like they were with Killua, and grandfather Zeno did not spoil. Illumi wasn't even jealous, he understood he was not special, he had been a weird, stupid, and ugly child, he wouldn't have looked at himself either. So he takes care and loves Killua over anything else because that's what he was told to do. That was his new purpose.

• He's fifteen and at a job when he meets Hisoka Morow. Illumi doesn't know it yet, but the man with golden eyes is the only one that will go back for him always, even when he doesn't ask, even when he doesn't want him to, Illumi can't have friends but he wishes for Hisoka, wishes he could have him.

• Sweet Illumi at age eighteen breaks under Hisoka in a way he has never done before, breaks in a way so vulnerable, so soft, he cries through it, and god, Illumi has never felt this loved before.

• Illumi is twenty two and coming back to the mansion on Kukuroo mountain after a job when he's informed Killua ran away. It's not fair, Illumi thinks. It's not fair because now it's Illumi who's being punished for his selfish little brother. Milluki is angry, Killua stabbed him, and didn't even think of the consequences of his actions, Killua never does. Killua never saw how bruised and bleeding Illumi came back every time any of them broke a rule.

• Illumi brings Killua back but Gon comes back for Killua, and Killua comes back for Alluka.

• Illumi is twenty three finishing a job with Kalluto when their youngest informs him he's not going back with him. Illumi feels rage and betrayal, another selfish little brother. Another one he doesn't fight because Illumi isn't skilled enough not to kill him. Kalluto leaves and Illumi is terrified, because he failed to bring back another of his mother's sons, and the punishment won't be pretty, slaps will not suffice this time.

• Illumi never thought leaving was an option, and it's not fair, because no one ever came back for him, or Milluki, or Kalluto, but at least their youngest was smart enough to leave and join the Ryodan, who would never let anyone come for their youngest spider. Illumi who came back time and time again to this awful house because he loved his family and wanted to keep everyone together. None of his brothers had loved Illumi enough to notice he was as afraid and lonely as all of them.

• Illumi is twenty four when he leaves the horrible mansion on Kukuroo Mountain to live with Hisoka Morow, who loves him. His mother cries, his father doesn't care, Zeno is happy as long as Kikyo is upset, and Milluki... Milluki is internally grateful the clown dared to take the eldest Zoldyck away.

And one of my favorite headcanons:

• Hisoka Morow, Glam Gas city born, a nobody magician with a taste for violence and blood, met Illumi Zoldyck at nineteen years old and knew he had to keep the fifteen year old murder doll. He knew at first glance there was no one more beautiful, and no one worth more than dear, sweet Illumi. Hisoka would keep his sweetheart even if he had to fight all the Zoldycks and their butlers, he would even kill them all, if Illumi didn't love them. It took Hisoka almost a decade to take him away from the dreadful house with eyes on the walls and torture chambers, but they both found a love so great it made all the suffering worth it.

So these were my headcanons that were only reinforced by okayantigone on AO3. Her fanfics are masterpieces, and I wish they got way more attention that they have. I recommend my absolute favorites HisoIllu stories: children running through, asbestos in the walls, the home that awaits you, and yesterday's cherry pits. Three of those are Illumi centric and one is Hisoka centrict.

I’m just a sucker for beach episodes ok??? I was at the beach and I thought about what Hisoka would do and I end up imagining all of them. Half of them would never put a foot in a public beach but that’s what makes it fun.

Hisoka:

Going to the beach in the late afternoon to early evening when most people go home is the ideal time for him.  He doesn’t like when it’s crowed and he knows that the less people around, the more he can get away with if he wants to get inappropriate with you.

This time slot is also ideal to avoid tanning. I like to think nen users are more protected against the elements somehow and he wouldn’t need sun protection normally, but at noon at the beach his skin would still get some color and it’s not aesthetically pleasing for him. If you had sun screen with you he’d ask you to put some on him, even if it would be pointless, any occasion is good for being touched.

Touching you is also greatly appreciated and if you were to ask him to put some sun screen on your back it would derailed quickly. Either letting his hands wandered more than you asked him to or just lightly teasing you, he wouldn’t just give you a hand if there’s nothing fun for him in it.

Relaxing is not an option with him, he wouldn’t stay put on his towel and consequently, neither would you. Like with a kid, you’d have to keep him entertained and playing in the water is way more tempting than staying quietly on the sand. Better not take beach games with you though, he can get quite riled up.

Because he likes to show off anywhere he goes, if kids are making sand castles around he would make one too. It will be bigger, more complex and done in a flash to amaze them and if they were to ask how he did he would say it’s magic. It’s really just bungee gum.

Hisoka is easy to turn on but the beach mood, the sight of your body and the constant skin touching when you’d both be fooling around in the water would be too much of a sensory overload for him to stay nice. The only thing preventing him to fuck you would be that having to deal with people calling the police about your little show would spoil and cut his fun short. If the police officers were nen users it’d be a different story but creating a panic just by killing nenless people wouldn’t be worth it for him.

Making you cum with his finger, appearing completely composed while you’d try your best to not give away what’s happening under the water is, however, a perfectly innocent game to play.

At nighttime he’d want to go skinny dipping with you, you wouldn’t have a say in the matter after all you’ve enticed him all day with almost no clothes on you. So why not take the rest off now that you’re hidden in the dark?

Chrollo:

If you really want to go the beach he’d prefer to go at night, having a picnic under the stars and swimming in the moonlight. He cares about his goth aesthetic.

As long as you packed a beach umbrella he wouldn’t mind too much to come during actual tanning hours. He’d read on his towel, just relaxing to the sounds of wave, he can take a book anywhere and the beach is as good as any other spots.

If you want his attention he’d get his nose out of his book reluctantly to actually try to enjoy the beach. Not like he hates it, it’s just not that interesting for him, it’s just sand and water he doesn’t get what’s so exciting about it.

What interests him more are all the types of people going around and enjoying themselves. He’d be more entertain observing them and trying to analyze them than playing volleyball on scorching hot sand. Chrollo always love to have a window into the life of people and a place where they are relaxed and have fun with their love ones is a good occasion for that.

To actually make him moves his ass and drag him in the water would need a bit of convincing first. He’d argue that’s he’s fine where he is and you can swim all you want on your own, you really don’t need him for this. But if you insist enough and he feels like it he’d humor you but just for a bit. He’s a good swimmer and he has a perfect form, that doesn’t mean he particularly likes to swim and he’d not do it for long. He’d stay a bit longer just to keep you company and once he’d think it was long enough he’d go out of the water. Don’t ask him to come again, he’d obliged you once, don’t act spoiled now.

A walk on the beach would require less bargaining and he’d be happy to stretch his legs for a bit. He’s not fond of PDA but just holding hands would be ok while you walk, he might even do more affectionate gesture like putting his arm around your shoulders. Goth Spider aren’t totally immune to the summer mood.

Walking around is also a good way to make the day a bit more fun. Lots of people are not careful enough with their bags and they’d learn their lesson by finding that their wallet is missing when they’d go back to their spot. Really, Chrollo would just teach them in what kind of world their living by confiscating their possession, a wallet is cheap for such a valuable eyes opening experience.

And because sharing is caring, he’d use his loot to buy you an ice cream, he’d jokingly says it your hush money.

During your night beach trip you could tempt Chrollo to get a bit more frisky in the water, he’d not always be up to it but if you take some bottles of good wines with your for you picnic he might be more receptive to the idea.

Illumi:

It’s hard to get him to go on a date but he’ll do it occasionally, the beach however is far from his favorite place and to go to a public beach...you’d have to really really deserve it for him to accompany you.

He hates everything about it, the sand in his hair is high on his list and he’d wear his hair in a bun or ponytail to lessen the damage. He’d be ready to end anyone, be it woman, children or elderly that carelessly throw sand in direction when they walk or run next to him.

Luckily he’d be in a bad enough mood so that his aura would prevent anyone coming near in a 10m radius. You’d have earned to choose the place as a reward but don’t count on him to be a ray of sunshine about it, he wouldn’t try to hide his distaste and he’d make it clear how much of a stupid idea it was.

What could cheer him up a bit is to make snarky comment about how people educate their kids when he’d watch parents dealing with children throwing a tantrum or not listening to what they say. He could talk for hours about how Killua was such an obedient child and would go down memory lane, forgetting to sulk.

Too focus on his nostalgia he’d be oblivious to all the woman checking him out. None of them would try hitting on him though, not that they would be dissuaded by your presence or his ominous aura, but Illumi, especially among commoners seems way too far from their league. Sand between his ass cheeks and hair all messed up is not enough to take away the regal air about him.

There’s no way he’d swim and torture his hair with salt water if he doesn’t absolutely have to. You could at best convince him to take a walk with your feet in the sea but that’s it. If he stays in the shore so would you, leaving his side would be forbidden, don’t hope to frolic in the water.

If you loves the sea that much and ask him to go again he’d tell you that he has already bought you a private island and you can take some butler with you. Illumi beach adventure would end as soon as it had started

Pouf:

Pouf would hate that you’re basically naked in front of others than him and to have him accompany you to the beach you’d have to present him with a fait accompli. You’ll need to call him to ask him to meet you there if you want to avoid the argument. He’d knew you were there obviously, he never stops his surveillance, but to not give his spying away he wouldn’t come on his own

To preserve his sanity don’t wear a bikini. Anything too sexy would shatter his image of you, you’d be taken home at once to be hypnotized and punished for being a slut, but even an innocent bikini would cause him a great amount of distress. The more skin you show the more he’d cry.

A more “chaste” swimsuit wouldn’t cut it either, he’d find you very cute but glare at anyone sparing a glance in your direction. The ones looking at your more insistently would be as good as dead, he would attach a small Beelzebub to them to deal with them later.

Even if he came in a short notice he wouldn’t come to the beach empty handed, he’d have a hat and a white shirt prepared for you that he would insist you put on the instant he arrives and a gallon of sun screen that he would want to apply on you every ten minutes. He does care about your purity but he also care a great deal about your health and he’d remind you how the sun can be bad for you.

And because he can’t help spoiling you he’d also bring homemade snacks in case you’re hungry. Enough to feed 10 people and all with all quality ingredients, Pouf doesn’t feed you cheap food. You’d have the choice in 5 different flavored waters to be sure you stay well hydrated, all made with fruits he picked for their high vitamin count and antioxidant properties so your skin wouldn’t be damaged. Your beauty routine is his responsibility too.

To avoid having too many eyes on you he’d want you both to stay in the water; the sea can be dangerous so he wouldn’t risk anything and give you legs massage before you enter the water and help you do some warm up. Being too cautious never hurts.

You wouldn’t be able to swim too far, not on his watch. He’s confident he could react quickly if anything were to happen but he wouldn’t risk it. You already said no to the water wings, you can at least stay near the shore to appease him.

It’d be a very stressful day for Pouf, he’d try by any means to deter you from going there again, your very first beach trip with him would probably be your last.

Pariston:

Pariston is used to private beach in luxurious resorts with attentive employees on high alert to fulfill any of this need.  But a public beach?? And you can bring read what he wrote on his palm sandwiches?? Sign him up.

It’s not like you’d be able to choose your swimsuit yourself, he’d take you shopping for one and pick one extremely revealing. Still stylish but not the kind you wear in a family packed place. He’d be delight by all the head turning your way and be sure to whisper in your ear what kind of salacious thought you’re inspiring to the vacationer.

Like for everything else he would be very enthusiastic and excited by anything, he’d try food from any beach vendors that come his way and buy you some. You wouldn’t want to spoil the fun by not snacking on a tons of high calorie food wouldn’t you? He’d still tell you’d get fat with each new snack but he would also still insist that you eat again when he spots the next vendor.

For the occasion he’d have bought a big inflated raft with enough room for the two of you. He’d let it drift far enough from the shore to scare you, not making any attempt to go back until your panic stop amusing him. He’d know you’d never try to swim back without his permission.

From the outside you’d look like a cute couple playing in the water but Pariston always likes to play a bit rough. He’d firmly hold your head underwater too long to make you wonder if he’d let you come up, but not long enough to make you too weak and gather attention. When you’d resurface he’d welcome you with a laugh, like he was having the time of his life.

That’s not a game that would entertain him for long, when he really wants to have some fun he’d undo the bottom of your swimsuit and walk back to the shore with it, leaving you mortified and half naked in the water. Either you’d wait a very long time not knowing if he’d get bored and come back to “save” you or you walk back to him, hiding what you can to get your swimsuit back.

If he has to be the one coming back to you he’d be annoyed enough to want to tease you more. He’d force you to say how exciting it was to be so exposed for anyone to see with crude details while he fucks you. His image always comes first so you’d better be discreet and not have him get caught. He’d only do that with someone he has trained enough to be able to stay quiet but new enough to still feel very anxious in this kind of situation.

Pariston would shamelessly hit on attractive girl in front of you, telling you to stay on your towel, you wouldn’t be able to do anything but watch him flirt, it’d make sure to do it at earshot distance. When he wouldn’t flirt with strangers he’d compare your body to theirs, pointing what is better than yours, subtly or not depending on what type of reaction he’d be fishing from you.

okay i gotta get something off my chest re: the zoldycks’ systematic abuse of killua

what are they hoping to accomplish? 

it seems clear that they’re trying to make him obedient at this point in time, but if you’re trying to raise someone who will eventually take over the family business wouldn’t you want them to be mentally capable? 

what they’re doing to killua seems tailored to turning him into a figurehead or puppet, suitable for being directed but completely incapable of making his own decisions. which is great for when they’re still in charge of him, but you’d think that silva is aware that he won’t be around forever, and he does genuinely seem to want killua to be his heir and not a doll to be directed.

we know it can’t be “illumi is sabotaging the efforts because he wants to control killua” even though that would make perfect sense re: his motivations, because silva explicitly knew about the needle and therefore implicitly approved of it. if he didn’t know what illumi was doing with said needle, you’d think that would have at least been implied. at least right now, we have to take it at face value that silva understood what illumi’s needle did. 

so we get this absolutely batshit, idiot scenario.

they’re legit stunting killua’s emotional development and autonomy, things that would presumably be necessary in order for him to take on the zoldyck empire. if he’d cracked under what his family had done to him, he’d have no free will whatsoever and would simply obey whatever he was told to do. these are not good traits for a leader. 

obviously the zoldycks are abusers, i’d never argue otherwise, but their abuse is targeted and emotionless, with a professed result. it doesn’t excuse it, but it drives me fucking crazy.

their actions are at odds with silva and zeno being portrayed as intelligent people. illumi is treated as “perhaps not mentally sound” and kikyo is treated as blinded by emotion when it comes to killua, but silva and zeno aren’t treated this way. as far as we know they’re operating completely calmly about this, which is terrifying.

the logical results of their efforts towards killua (and these seem to be actively what kikyo and illumi are seeking, and silva is implicitly approving all of this) are completely at odds with their professed end goal. if killua had been successfully shaped by his abuse, wouldn’t the result be woefully incapable of being the heir to the family? like, he left before they were done with him, and he’s already shown huge red flags re: a dependency complex.

have they just never wondered “if we train killua to obey the family/silva’s authority at all costs, what will he do and how will he function when he is the authority?” like............ are the zoldycks that short-sighted? do they have some Second Stage to their abuse? is it legit just that they’re terrible people?

i mean... if they weren’t terrible people, they wouldn’t have beaten, whipped, psychologically tortured, and emotionally destroyed their kid. the fact that it’s all counterproductive nonsense just makes it more evil, honestly.

then again... how smart could they be, given that they think blatantly abusing their child is good.

See, the thing is, when my sister gets whiny she can be really irritating.

Like, insisting that she’s only played a ‘tiny bit’ when she’s been at the playground for at least three hours now and it’s time to go home and have a late dinner, then continuing to complain about it the whole car ride home (“Evans is mean. Mom is mean. Daddy is mean…”) then refuses to get out of the car when there are other cars behind us (then she whines about how everybody was ‘dragging’ her out of the car when she was trying to put her shoes on), drags her feet as we go into the apartment, says she’s not going to eat dinner…like, not anything too big (most of the time, at least) but really annoying stuff.

And then sometimes it’s like the whole 'I’m not touching you *finger hovers centimeters away from other person’s skin*’ thing. When she’s really mad at me she’ll make motions like she’s going to punch/slap/pinch me and then when I ask her to stop (“hitting people isn’t nice!”) she’s like “I didn’t hit you though! Evans is being mean” and sometimes she starts to cry…OTL )

Evans + smol children:

Kid 1: “PLAY WITH US EVANS” *clings to my hand*

Evans: “-um-”

Kid 2: “Please?” *grabs my leg*

oh dear XD people don’t really bother to close their mouths over here, I think, since if you don’t think it’s rude then it IS more comfortable. It is considered more polite to cover your mouth with your hand when there’s too much food in there, though.

My parents really want to know why I love manga so much, but they don’t usually have time to watch/read anything with me (and besides, my dad doen't like violent stories so…).

Well, she doesn’t like the Rising Sun Flag at all (like I said, over here it’s a really bad symbol. Many people who were hurt by Japan during WW2 are still alive today, like the old ladies who were once sex slaves for Japanese soldiers, and for everyone involved that pain is never going to fade) but she’s still going to try it out just for the story :) she’d probably really have a problem with it if the flag was used in more serious situations, but since it usually appears in comedic moments in the manga I think she’s accepting it as ignorance(?) from the creator.

Yeah, I don’t really like Kissanime ^^;; I’ll try to find Re:Zero on the Korean site where I usually watch things. Or maybe a manga/light novel version, if there’s anything like that? Since the Manhwa Cafe might have a light novel or a manga.

LOL Fairytail is too intimidating. And you know me, I’m too angsty for that series XD True though, HxH is super long…

Killua isn’t QUITE a cinnamon roll (he was still raised by the Zoldycks and trained by Illumi) but he comes close. I mean, even after going through a hellish Zoldyck childhood he STILL doesn’t want to be an assassin and is capable of kindness and emotion towards people who aren’t members of his family. The MC Gon is probably the ultimate cinnamon roll though.

Illumi has issues. The fact that he willingly hangs out with Hisoka should prove that.

The Zoldycks are a BRUTAL family, ok, I feel sorry for all their children. Like, come on. The emotional abuse is just as bad, if not worse, than the physical abuse.

Idk if this was ever addressed in canon, though, but I wonder if Illumi also resents Killua in a way? Since Illumi is the oldest child and was trained since birth to become a perfect Zoldyck assassin, but when Killua was born it quickly became obvious that he was a prodigy and then he was chosen as the heir. Kilua doesn’t even WANT to be the heir, he stabbed his mother and one of his other brothers just to run away from home, and yet he’s still being chosen over Illumi, who was trained for a similar role since birth and just had to silently, obediently step side the moment this tiny baby brother was born.

True, I guess it’s like me shipping Queen Luna with so many characters LOL. Evans/Kimblee is still one of the weirder ships though, like what do we even have in common (answer: ruining lives. And we both….appreciate….art?). At least Scar/Evans had the potential to be awkwardly cute XD

FINALLY PLAYING CP! I didn’t get Steam though (after reading about it and thinking it through I just don’t think it’s for me ^^;;) so I ended up downloading it. I’ve played all the routes except for Waltz’s, but I’ve only gotten the Good Endings so far. (There’s actually a reason for this: Firstly, I was actively trying to get a good ending because I get weirdly obsessed when playing dating games…since it’s a romance, it feels like a major fail if I don’t get a good ending XD (I know, I’m really weird). And as for the second reason…you usually have to act like a jerk to other characters to get the bad endings and I didn’t want to do that ;-; (seriously, I know they’re just fictional characters and that it’s silly, but I HATE it every time I choose to do something mean and they look at me like they’re so disappointed ugh OTL)).

My thoughts so far:

-Art is amazing! It does look a little off at some points during the game but it’s not very noticeable and other than that, it’s great. The intro looks the best, I think, and the sketchy, simple style used during flashbacks really adds to the ‘fairy tale’ feel. It actually reminds me a bit of Kuro’s art.

-Idk about music, my family’s always around and having my earbuds in for so long hurts my ears so I just turned off the sound while playing ^^;; I did hear a bit of the intro though and it sounded nice.

-I like the history with the Great War and the crystals :)

-The whole concept of Fairytale Curses is really interesting! It was fun to try and guess how the curses worked for certain characters and how they could be broken.

-Rod’s route was probably the most boring because it was too predictable. I guessed that Alcaster(? is that his name? I’m talking about Fritz’s father) wasn’t the real villain, that Mythros was the witch, that MC’s mom was probably a witch, that Rod was in love with Viorica and that Viorica had something to do with his curse, that falling in love with MC would break his curse…yeah. The only thing I didn’t see coming was that MC’s mom was not just a normal witch but the Tenebrarum bearer. However, it was still interesting enough to make me want to play the rest of the game, the romance was cute, and I liked how they handled the whole ‘step-siblings’ thing.

-Rod himself was a bit boring. I don’t think he was badly written, but his personality was a mix of the typical 'stoic’ and 'tsundere’ types so yeah. I do have to give the writers kudos for not turning him into an annoying tsundere, though. I mean, Rod can be a jerk but he didn’t irritate me and I didn’t dislike him.

-Karma/Klaude’s route threw me off because of the whole rose motif. I thought that by 'Beauty’ he meant 'Sleeping Beauty Curse’ XD it didn’t help that he kept talking about being tired and not having had enough sleep.

-I liked his habit of calling people 'darling’; idk why but it’s cute. I also like that he’s the only character so far to actually address MC’s relationship with her mother and what it must have done to her (even if it was just a brief moment). Karma’s personality in general was charming ^^

-I also really, really liked his character design! Even though my favorite color is blue I think characters with a 'Red’ theme (like Grell from Kuro) always look good. It makes them pop and stand out from the rest of the cast.

-But I’m sad we didn’t get to meet his father. The glorious man who calls his children 'Karma’ and 'Llama’.

-I was also a little bit disappointed with Karma at first. From the art I saw before the game I thought he was this cool, powerful swordsman who liked to wear dresses and didn’t care what people had to say about that…turns out he just had to do it because of the curse ;-;

-(Karma’s curse was also a bit confusing to me. Idk, I just think they could have explained a little better why dressing as a woman helps…)

-Rumpel (or rather, Chevalier…but I’m never going to get used to that name. It reminds me of 'Chivalry’ or 'Chandelier’). People don’t seem to like him a lot but I was looking forward to playing his route…he just seemed like a fun guy.

-He turned out to be a very interesting character that I wanted to see fleshed out more. I mean, he started as a 'Shallow, Childish Flirt’ type character, then we found out he’s actually a nice guy, then we found out he’s a DOCTOR (I got spoiled for that before I played his route but still), then there’s the thing with him being too selfless for his own good…I like that they didn’t just turn him into a 'Playboy’ character.

-Tbh I thought he was sweet? *prepares for the hate*

-Also think the whole thing with Bria was handled well. I’m glad that neither she nor Rumpel was made out to be the only victim.

-I wish we got to see more of how Mythros’ death affected Rumpel, though.

-Fritz is a cinnamon roll :) a total sweetheart.

-His route might have been a bit boring, though, because MC spent so much time locked up in the castle..but it got a lot better towards the end, after MC got back to the Marchen.

-I also found Varg really interesting and felt a bit sorry for him. Wish we got to see more of him- especially since it was mentioned that he was created from some part of Fritz’s personality. We never really got to see the 'Varg’ side of Fritz :(

-(wonder if there’s more Varg in the Bad Ending?)

-Also I’m sorry but Fritz’s curse reminds me more of Jekyll and Hyde than Little Red Riding Hood XD

-DELORA YOU ABSOLUTE QUEEN. HOW DARE YOU GO AND DIE ON ME DURING FRITZ’S ROUTE. I THOUGHT I WAS AIMING FOR THE HAPPY ENDING asdlfk;lkc

-(didn’t really care for the mother-daughter relationship with Delora and MC, though, because their interactions didn’t feel that way?)

-MC. I haaaated her at first and I hated her even more because I sensed she was going to get an angsty backstory that would justify her behavior. But she was actually really well written and I ended up liking her a lot!

-Emelaigne and Parfait are sweethearts. (also I like that detail with the shadows around Parfait’s eyes)

-wish there was some more diversity in the cast

-Also female love interests! With a little tweaking we could have Delora! Parfait! Jurien! And if we can date Rod, THEN THERE’S NO HECKING REASON WHY WE CAN’T DATE EMELAIGNE TOO

-It would have been nice if the love interests called MC out on her behavior at some point. I mean, we know why she acts that way but they don’t.

-And if they’d talked about her childhood with her…Hildyr was a terrible mother.

-Speaking of Hildyr, wow. Just, wow. I like that she’s not a flat, 100% evil character and that she does genuinely love her daughter (in her own twisted way), but…yeah.

-Mythros is a slimy rat who was probably aiming for Magnificent Bastard status and failed. (I do feel sorry for him, though. And his design looks good. It sorta reminds me of Vincent Phantomhive)

-Also, random: I renamed MC ever time I played the game. I love naming characters so in any game, if you can rename the MC, I always have to change the original name ^^;; I ended up naming her Theodosia once (sorry Burr, I’m sure your daughter’s nicer than the MC), and then Eliza just for how funny it was (because now I associate the name Eliza with Cinnamon Roll Queens and the MC is anything but).

-Delora, MC and Emelaigne are probably my favs. However…

-The Ultimate Fav is the one and only Mr. Broom. Such development. Much complexity. 10/10. Best character ever.

-And now, the characters I ship Queen Luna with (yes, I absolutely HAVE to do this with every one of our shared fandoms): Fritz and Karma :D it would be so cuuute

Nope, trust me, I was a little shit. Whenever someone tells me stories of baby Luna, I wanna curl up into a ball and die from embarrassment. I’m not even joking when my parents wanted to take me to get tested for ADHD. And then, suddenly, I found the magic of books and you will not get me to move my ass unless my life’s on the line (and even then I’ll reconsider XD)

Ouch… well, most little kids are like that? I mean, I don’t interact with them a lot (we have a mutual dislike for each other :P), but there’s a reason why I don’t like them. They can be adorable and all, but I just don’t have the patience ^^;;;

I think I’d cry of cuteness if I ever saw Evans with little kids, because that sounds absolutely adorable!!! 

Tbh, the thing I have most problems with is the sound of it, because it gets on my nerves so much ;-; 

Still, it’s really nice they make an effort to understand you ^^ I finally told my mom about my idol obsession today,  and I was so happy when she wasn’t weirded out T^T The thing is, I’m so used to people giving me weird look when i so much as mention anime, and idols are a whole new level of that, that I just don’t wanna tell anyone about it. Hell, it took me 2 months to offhandedly mention it to my parents. 

I think Re:Zero has a light novel? I’m not sure, honestly ^^;;;

Dude, you would not like fairy tail AT ALL. It is 98% tasteless fan service, and I was able to tolerate it for the sake of plot, but in the recent chapters, the plot itself has also become really stupid. Like, if a character dies, no one is worried any more, cause we know they’ll be revived 3 pages later. It became really stupid near the end. But, hey, it’s over now.

In summary: HxH is messed up XD I’m still debating watching it… maybe a bit later, or maybe I’ll pick the manga up ^^ 

Art is a very wide term, so I guess you could say both you and Kimblee do have it in common? It’s just up for discussion which form of art XD I must say, I do like you and Scar better though, because I don’t really think Scar would potentially blow you up if you did anything wrong…

Trust me, the music is absolutely amazing! If you ever want to hear it, there’s a small sound room or something in the settings and you can always listen to it there ^^

Karma, my darling ;-; Tbh, I’ve always doubted that he was Beauty and the Beast (because it’s my favorite fairytale If i’m gonna be honest :P), but the whole ‘not now’ and ‘running out of time’ (haaaaamilton) thing gave it away.  The ‘Character calls MC a pet name (darling, love, LITTLE STAR (T^T)) is definitely one of my favorite things ever ^^ But I knew Karma was, well, Karma (aka Beautiful Lady) the second he appeared in the alleyway in the prologue. the hair gave it away tbh I think we should meet Llama in the fan disk coming out soon? I really wanna buy that disk XD

Rump is so much more than he seems. I mean, from what I saw in the prologue, he was my lest favourite, but I think he might be 4th? Still not sure if it’s him or Rod… ((also, don’t get me wrong, just because they’re last doesn’t mean I dislike them! It’s just that I like them the least (sounds equally horrible)))

I love Fritz, but I love Varg more, which is why Fritz’s bad end is the worst for me, personally (vaaaaaaaarg). And I was so sad when he erased himself ;-; Why you do that my dear wolf.

Honestly, I see you with Fritz, bc cinnamon roll and cinnamon roll! He’d always be the one to makee sure you’re not uncomfortable with something and would melt when he saw you with little kids (despite the fact that you were pleading for someone to help you at the moment XD). Also, you can bet this guy will dedicate so much of his free time to watching you pain. HE’d also try to learn how to paint himself, so he could feel closer to you! Also, time to drown Evans in pastries, it doesn’t matter if she likes them or not, Fritz will buy more or less the whole shop so you can try it. He messes up so badly if you come watch his practice. He is dead. He can’t handle the pressure of you watching (even tho I doubt you’d give a flying fuck if he messed up a step or something) and will just turn red, turn around and call for a break.  Also, you can bet this guy is all about head pats. You learn to have a comb with you at all times XD
