I get being weary about leaks but honestly the take that it’s better to experience TOTK “as Nintendo intended” is so frustrating to me because I don’t think Nintendo has some great plan about the flow of information about the game, I think they’re giving so little information because they know they don’t need to give much information for the game to sell
I really think the concept of a spoiler has gotten so overblown, and I think that feeds a culture where companies can market media solely based on franchise or nostalgia or whatever angle they can find along those lines instead of putting together anything that tries to sell it based on the actual premise or plot
#I say this and know I'm part of the problem because I'll still be a buying the game on launch#but I am frustrated#I also know that the framing of age of calamity pre-release made me feel so much more negatively than I would have if more information had*#*had been given upfront#and I'm really worried TOTK is going to be like that#I looked at these leaks and I'll probably look at future ones up to a point#because I think having appropriate expectations makes for a better experience

without dropping anything super specific what do you think of EoW's story? in particular i'm kinda worried over if they made Zelda basically replaceable with any other silent protag and i'm holding back on getting the game if that's the case...
I think they handled a playable zelda incredibly well actually! In particular I was impressed that although she is a silent protagonist, she is NOT link, and the game takes care to remind you of that in everything from dialog to physical gameplay. Though she does technically have the ability to wield link's sword, in practice it's almost always more practical to use echoes, her own unique form of gameplay, to get through combat instead, which is a good reminder to the player that this isn't link's story, and we're not going to be able to beat it link's way. You're required to be ZELDA and think like zelda, utilizing mechanics unique to her, in order to progress through the story, and those mechanics emphasize creative problem-solving in a way that clearly envokes her core trait of wisdom. so in that regard i'd say she's definitely a unique protagonist and I never felt like she could have been replaced with someone else! (mild spoilery note: in the final battle you do actually have link fighting alongside you, and because of that, your sword ability is removed entirely, meaning you HAVE to end the game on zelda's terms, with zelda's abilities, which I thought was a nice touch.)
In terms of actual story, it's honestly a fairly classic zelda formula, but the twists and turns were well-written and kept me VERY engaged throughout. The act of searching for link felt different not because chasing after a captured friend is uncommon in a loz game, but because HE was different. The things you learn about link and how he ended up in this story compel you to keep searching for him in a way that you almost... don't need when you're link chasing zelda, because OF COURSE the hero is going to go after the princess. but this game had to engineer a situation in which the PRINCESS wanted to go after the HERO, and a hero she'd never met before at that. and that to me is what made the story interesting.
I will say, don't go into this game expecting it to have the same amount of story as a 3d installment like botw or totk. this is a topdown classic-style game, and it treats itself like one. the story is good, but it's not pushing the boundaries of the genre or anything. eow is a game that knows what it is and what it wants to do, and it does it exceptionally well. I think where the game really shines is in the implied narrative of the worldbuilding--pieces of personal memorabilia in characters' houses, little hints of the past and references to previous games in map design and details that allow you as the player to theorize and put together the less overt pieces of the story on your own. this has always been one of the things that I personally really enjoy about zelda games, so I absolutely LOVE how much detail is left for the player to find in eow if they're paying attention.
#asks#eow spoilers#basically. it's VERY good but it's not a 3d game. keep that in mind#there's definitely more of an emphasis on the actual mechanical gameplay. but the gameplay works so well that that's fine!

Other than the menus what are your thoughts on echoes, ive been enjoying it quite a bit!
I'll write this to be really non-spoilery cause it feels fair and I'm not that far in the game myself! (If we compared it to ALBW in progression, I'd be almost done with the second dungeon)
However I've been having a great time! 🙌 After BOTW/TOTK I've felt sort of fearful of this franchise's future. I've been worried that the series would go to a direction I wouldn't like to follow. Of course I was willing to accept that, I'm not going to rain on other people's fun just because it's not the same as when I was a kid-- BUT It is comforting to see Nintendo isn't forgetting us puzzle fans.
BUT ALSO the game IS really refreshing on top of that. I don't feel like it's just a lazy attempt to cash into the market botw/totk haven't been able to, but an innovative fun experience. It feels like a real return to form for the franchise, as it has always been like that-- Trying new things and keeping us on our toes, while having that something at its core that truly makes it the Zelda series.
If you're a fan like me who's on the fence about whether to get this game or not, I'd say it's worth it. I recommend going in with an open mind for being pleasantly surprised but not expecting it to blow your mind like [Insert game here] may have. I'm singing it's praises in this ask sure, but it's still only been a pleasant experience-- Not mindblowing.
Buuut that's what I think so far! Might change as I continue, and I'll be sure to share here what I thought of it when I'm done. :]

do you think the self-aware boys could be aware of other games you play on the console? this is kind of a silly thought but i got age of calamity when it came out and didn't play much because i was really bad at it. i've been playing totk recently but some self-aware au posts reminded me that i have age of calamity so i popped it back in to try out again (i'm still not great at it). and i just imagined tears getting jealous haha sorry hon i swear i didn't mean anything by it
(not me who plays a ton of indie games on my switch - guys I'm so sorry I just like the silly sushi game)
So as for them being aware of other games, they start off as not knowing much, just knowing that they're there. but after a while they can see the hours played! think the switch timer that shows how much you've played or maybe steam library style, I'm not entirely sure yet
as for your other point - I think their jealousy really depends on what game you're playing, how long you're playing for kinda a mix on the two!
other zelda games could have little/no jealousy or they could actually end up causing a literal fight if those two links met. I actually really need to draw out a relationship chart! cause I've been planning a self aware links meet and I've been stewing over this for a good while <3
say for legend? yeah, he's not going to be jealous of himself - that would be a waste of energy Sky would be a little petty if your totk playtime is higher than his but he gets along well with tears - to the point he'd be willing to share you with him (the same goes for wild/ possibly wars) Twilight wants to work with others - not all of them mind you but time, wild and wind? given the chance he will go out of his way to work with them rather than not and he is the ONLY one who does this - this is not 100% reciprocated with all of those links. (and his allies depend on what console you're on) the others are opportunistic with allies but they don't go out of their way like he does.
other series games? yeah no get them OUT of here they aren't sharing you with them.
in your case though anon?
I think tears would be more than fine with you playing aoc!! he's a little bitter over the fact (in his head) you might prefer the version of him that didn't die but no don't worry he's not that offended Calamity on the other hand? he's going to be a smug little shit. He had more than a bit of an inferiority complex when it comes to the others - aoc kinda flopped compared to other games (4mil copies to totks 20mil (totk sold half of aocs total sales in japan in THREE DAYS)) if you have more hours with him than with wild/tears then he will become more of an ass and get whiny about having your attention on him when he gets out. I also like to hc him as having really bad anxiety which leads to a really clingy yan

My King
Ganondorf x gn!Hylian!reader/no-name OC
I just wanted to write bein kissed by Ganon can I really be blamed tho? So the Hylian character is referred to by they/them pronouns and not described (except as being much shorter/smaller than beefcake man) and isn't referred to by a name so feel free to read is as a reader insert or as an oc insert
Also I wrote this with BOTW/TOTK Ganon in mind, but it could probably be read as any version of him
Edit: fixed some spelling errors
Warnings: makin out, brief allusion to sex, possessiveness, size-difference
Word Count: 457
Masterlist

Their lips touched for a brief moment, merely ghosting over each other. Ganon pulled away, golden eyes shadowed in the night as he studied their expression. His hand cupped their cheek, dwarfing their head. They were so small compared to him. So fragile.
A quiet, shuddering breath slipped past their lips like something inside was letting them go. He couldn't fight the grin that pulled his lips as they leaned forward ever so slightly, chasing his lips, and the brief flicker of disappointment when they came up empty. Their eyelids fluttered open, staring up at him with stars reflecting back at him. They were confused and worried - wondering if they did something wrong. They were Hylian; unaccustomed to all of the Gerudo's beliefs and social intricacies. Had they broken some law about kissing the King, even if he was the one who asked in as soft a voice he'd ever used if he could please, please kiss them. It would be the only time he begged, he'd make sure of it. And yet, for that brief brush, that whisper of a kiss, he found suddenly that he would not mind dropping to his knees and pleading for just one more.
He stroked the pad of his thumb across their cheek. They relaxed into the touch, eyes closing as they leaned into his large palm. Worry was replaced with ease, quickly. They didn't do something wrong. He simply could not stop himself from admiring how the desert moonlight danced across their skin. If he didn't know better, he would have confused them for a deity.
Golden eyes glanced at their mouth, still parted, waiting for his to find their place. Soft puffs of white air dissipated between them, carried into the night. It was freezing out here. His oversized robe draped loosely around their shoulders, half of the heavy fabric pooling on the sandstone floor around their feet.
A flicker of possessiveness lit up within him. He was the only one allowed to care for them so; the only one allowed to dress them in his belongings and show all of Hyrule who he wished to be his.
"Say you will be mine," he whispered. Dark eyes, almost red with desire, greeted them as they opened their eyes to look up at the Gerudo King.
A small, soft hand, un-calloused from the desert sands, pressed against his, holding his hand more firmly to their cheek. "I'm yours, my King."
His lips find theirs once more, but this time it is not the careful, hesitant touch from before. Now it was burning, demanding, rough. He pulled their face in as close as he could, lips and teeth sucking and biting and pulling until their lips are red and swollen against his. Every soft, desperate mewl from their throat eggs him on. He wants nothing more than all of Hyrule to know who they belong to, and he will not stop until he is certain everyone knows his name screamed in their voice.

The reason why I don't mind that Zelda doesn't wield a sword in Echoes of Wisdom is because I never cared for having a "female Link".
Some people in the past have told me "why play Princess Zelda when Nintendo could just make the main character customizable or have a female option", and honestly, I hate that idea. I think it devalues Link as a character to just make him like the Pokemon Trainer or Squid Kid, and I personally enjoy Link being a more androgynous character which Nintendo really leaned towards in BotW and TotK. If Link is divided into "boy Link" and "girl Link" then that androgyny gets discarded. Not to mention that BotW/TotK made him so bland in so many cutscenes where he barely emotes at all despite having a lot of personality in the rest of the game: making him a generic self insert will just make him more bland out of necessity so people can project onto him. I much prefer Link having his own personality like in Skyward Sword or Wind Waker etc.
I want to play Princess Zelda because she has her own cool powers throughout the series. I don't need to play a female character because it's a female character, I want to play Princess Zelda or other versions of her like Sheik or Tetra because they're unique.
Furthermore, I do enjoy having unique gameplay styles. I'm really interested in Echoes of Wisdom because it is different. The 2D Zelda games don't really have much going on in the sword fighting department compared to the 3D games: they're very straightforward. It would be interesting for them to expand 2D sword fighting in the future somehow but I don't really know what they would do besides "swing sword, block with shield, attack weak point". The ability to summon minions to fight for you and to spawn all sorts of things sounds very exciting to me personally because it's going to be a very different game than past 2D Zeldas.
I hope that in the future we see more and different Princess Zeldas to play, and personally I would love some co-op titles where I can play with someone else. (It was my hopes and dreams for both Link and Zelda to be playable in TotK when it was first teased. Running around Hyrule with someone else like my twin would have been an absolute joy especially if Zelda had her own unique moveset.)
I just prefer variety. I don't play each Zelda game because I can swing a sword, I play it for the Ocarina of Time or the Wind Waker or the Minish Cap or the masks in Majora's Mask or all the other unique aspects of each game. The sword—besides Skyward Sword—is a method to hit stuff with but it's not often the star of the show, and I am usually disappointed when other items are not useful outside of their respective dungeons. I like how Nintendo is trying to incorporate abilities into the broader gameplay rather than specific uses like in the past because it gives me more options that just "identify the specific item needed in this situation" or "hit the weak spots like this with that".
That isn't to say that there can't be criticisms. For instance I noticed that spawning something with the staff is done by pressing the Y button and there's the whole scroll through items thing. I worry that only having one button assigned to this ability means that there will be a lot of menuing. I am hopeful that Zelda will have more options for different items besides the staff because the other face buttons are free for other things. The D pad icon also leaves space for 3 different things on the left too, so I am interested to see what other abilities Zelda will have available to her. Nintendo is not a stranger to hiding things about upcoming games, so I think there is a good chance that there is some else besides the staff in this game.
Anyway, I just wanted to get this off my chest. I am a female tradesperson, so I don't appreciate anyone insinuating that liking the different playstyle is tied to sexism and the idea that Zelda can't wield a sword (she did in Twilight Princess). I just don't think that a sword and shield is something that every game needs especially in a 2D Zelda where the other abilities are generally more interesting to me.

doodles for a tears of the kingdom roleswap au, because those will forever be my jam and i really like the idea of playable zelda. notes/rambling under the cut.
Scavenged Zonai tech instead of Ultrahand (she made it herself??)
idk if the stone stays a necklace or goes on a hand or what
Maybe Zonai glasses? idk
She has an undershirt b/c boobs. Patterned off main padding.
Zonai Survey Team + Hylian Armor (people just give Zelda shit)
Bow of Light - summons freely, acts like Master Sword, powers up with shrines?
Text is readable (Purah: stealing my look! rude!)
And then the general core conceits of Playable TotK Zelda:
Archer - ranged combat focus/optimized
Princess/General - focus on group combat (sages / monster squad / Gerudo Town)
Priestess - Light + Time magic, upgrades
Zonai Researcher - extra knowledge in ruins, can read tet, can do more with scavenging
I need to finish the final boss fight before I decide what entirely Link's role ends up as, but he's sent back in time injured with the broken sword while Zelda is teleported by the Purah Pad away to the Sky Island. IDK if she still has Rauru (or Mineru) as a guide, but even if she does, she's a lot more self sufficient, and scavenges/builds the tech to interface with Zonai devices herself instead of just being given the Ultrahand. I think she still gets the same abilities, but like. She's doing it herself. very stressed out this is fine energy.
Zelda on the sky island is probably more than a little feral researcher. It's her getting used to combat. When we started with the broken master sword, I though the game was going to let you keep it and power it up over time; I'm glad that's not how it went but I do think it would be interesting, so Zelda gets to summon a bow and it levels up over time (probably connected to the shrines system, because Holy Light, but idk how exactly). She can use swords and other weapons, but she definitely defaults more ranged.
Zelda also gets magic, which is obviously the Time Rune stuff, but I think also it would be cool if she had a light power unarmed attack (similar to but weaker than the Yiga Earthwave you can unlock). I like the idea of a playthrough where you never pick up a sword and you just keep light blasting people and dodging even though it is almost certainly the weaker attack. feral untrained self taught mages are and forever will be my jam.
When Zelda returns to Hyrule proper, I think the reactions are very different, because everyone pretty much agrees she's in charge (even if, perhaps, she doesn't). I also think that, well, people are less worried about Link being missing than they are about Zelda - the Lucky Clover isn't running stories about him, y'know? As such it's driven by what Zelda wants - which is to find Link, even if it''s not what others want.
Zelda as princess I think also plays interestingly into the group combat TotK introduces; I think in her game she acts more as general and they're more common. Not that she can't be on front lines, but it'd be pretty easy to play letting the Sages eat up melee while she's sniping. I also think she gets magic that can heal allies, making them more useful in fights to some extent. This would maybe be very messy in a real game but this is a theory baybee!
Although I think that's probably similarly limited / you don't have to drag people around while climbing mountains. Which, to be clear, she still does. It's been like five years and she's clearly been traveling the world with Link still at her side, there's no way that she's not just as feral an adventurer as he is. She's just better as passing as normal.
The big change in exploration is the various ruins, because she actually knows shit. I like to imagine there's some feature Zelda can use to sort of take notes on basically any Zonai or other ancient shit you find anywhere. She doesn't need to run back to Kakariko Village to translate, she's putting stuff together herself. This is maybe manifested by Zonai glasses/mask, which replaces/augments the Camera feature? And then upgrades to help you better see stuff? idk. [let the purah scope zoom in and out. ideal fix. kthxbai]
as for how Zelda interacts with the world...that's kind of complicated but really interesting. she's the beloved princess, but she is the Princess, and for the other four nations, specifically, Not Their Princess. like the dynamic with the Sages definitely changes. There's probably some themes there to parallel Zelda with Rauru but like that means there are Implications and I need to think more on that than 2am.

Breath of the Wild / Age of Calamity / Tears of the Kingdom Zelda, part 1/2
The final Zelda (so far) of this character review series is the most developed of them all, and probably has more character content to her in just one game than any of the others, and she has three to boot! With full voice acting (I'm JP voice only), a huge and personal role in the story, diary entries, notable relationships to multiple characters and being discussed by many NPCs there is a lot to talk about, but I'm mostly going off of memory and rewatching the cutscenes since it would be too much work to research every mention of her in all three games.
Design
(Ancient dress Zelda model from here)
Not going to copypaste my thoughts on her BotW look since this is long enough already.
It is a pity that Zelda didn't get a full redesign for TotK, but I'll take what I can get. The bob is really cute! And unusual among the Zeldas too, and I guess a nice way to represent that she has moved to the commoner lifestyle.
As for the ancient dress, it looks perfectly fine on its own, but since I value it when the designs have their own unique identity, I wish it wasn't so similar to her white dress from BotW. Maybe there is some connection, like Sonia used to be a priest so maybe the dress design survived through millennia as a prayer dress or whatever, but since that's not actually in the game, I'm not giving credit for that.
The bulkier and sort of unrefined jewelry does a good job making the outfit look ancient, but it's still fancy enough that I can believe it to belong to the royal family. That decorative accessory on the front of the dress is really cool looking and a nice and consistent detail among all the ancient clothes, but man is it a pain to draw. Finally I really like the big earrings and the tear makeup is a great little detail.
When I first saw the Light dragon in the final Zelda memory I thought it looked kind of doofy, with its bright colours, clumpy eyelashes, bulging eyes and borzoi nose, but it has since grown on me. I once read that some Pokemon designer said in an interview or such that if a Pokemon design looks too cool, they add something uncool to it to make it more memorable, and I think it's a pretty good design philosophy. There have been several LoZ designs that have shocked me at first, but eventually I get used to them and they will look just right. They could have given the dragons a more cool or elegant look, but that would have also risked making them more generic. Also the eyes give a good impression about Zelda's state that nobody is home there.
Character
This iteration of Zelda is easily the most fleshed out of them all, since we get to see so much of her relationships, character development, emotional reactions to plot events, and also stuff she does outside the immediate plot.
BotW Zelda's dread over the impending doom and the self esteem issues that rise from it are a large part of the story. There are other Zeldas who also worry about the Plot, but in BotW Zelda's case it's incredibly personal since her failure to do her crucial job in preventing the disaster is at the core of the story. According to Rhoam's diary, she had already internalised her duty at the age of six (and this caused her to not show any weakness even at her mother's funeral), and from there she spent her life trying and failing to awaken her powers. This lifelong crushing sense of responsibility and guilt and the failure to live up to her demanding father's expectations give BotW Zelda a very melancholic vibe that constantly pops up through the game. Though I must say that in the memory where the champions perform their little ceremony and Zelda gives a long speech to Link, her voice acting gets really awkward when it sounds like she's about to start crying with every word.
Once she finds her inner strength, Zelda gets her badass moments as well. I especially like the grand finale of BotW where she, glowing with power, calmly stands before Calamity Ganon's pig form and doesn't even flinch when he charges at her. And in the TotK flashback cutscenes she can apparently be taken to a battle against Ganondorf as a part of Rauru's sage posse.
I called out Skyward Sword Zelda for being a bit too much of an ideal girlfriend, so I'm really glad that the memory where BotW Zelda lashes out at Link exists. It works to prevent her from being just a pure maiden who is victimised by unfair outside circumstances. Or I mean that does happen to her, but letting her display some negative traits (like frustration and jealousy) that she's personally responsible for as well makes her feel more like an actual person and not just a perfect victim.
Even if BotW Zelda's heavy burden is a huge part of her character, luckily that's not all there is to her. And not just because being multifaceted of course makes her more interesting, but also I find it a lot more realistic that not every moment of her life had been constant suffering.
One of her most charming and notable traits is her nerdy scientist side. It certainly sets her apart from the other Zeldas, and also gives her something else to do than just worry about the plot and be a princess. The memory where she geeks over a frog and goes on such a ramble over its scientific properties that she forgets basic social norms is such a great piece of characterisation, and it's cute how her enthusiasm returns in TotK where she's excited over Zonai discoveries, and is also into Mineru's constructs. According to AoC, studying was also apparently something she did with her late mother as a child.
Her research notes also detail how together with Purah and Robbie they discovered various things about the ancient Sheikah tech, but I do think it's a little disappointing how we don't get much anything concrete about Zelda's contributions specifically. There's a lot about her being interested in the Sheikah technology and how she apparently was a part of research group, but all actual discoveries are attributed to different characters or left vague, so as a result she comes across more like an enthusiastic hobbyist who in the end doesn't actually get anywhere. I would have liked it if for example Purah's diary had a line of how Zelda's efforts helped them understand the Guardians better or something like that, but now you have to imagine her contributions yourself. The closest we get is how in AoC she gives one Sheikah artefact to Rhoam, which ends up saving his life, but it's not quite what I'm looking for since Zelda didn't know what the item would do, so it feels more like luck. But even if the execution didn't quite land, I'm glad that AoC took the time to give some kind of resolution to the Rhoam-forbids-Zelda-from-Studying aspect and has to admit that he was wrong. And regardless the Sheikah tech works well to give Zelda her unique identity, and it's also nice how two of her weapons in AoC are based on it.
BotW Zelda also has a playful side, like for example she runs up to play with a dog she just saw, or jokes with Urbosa about how they both had to act all formal in front of an audience despite being long time friends. She is also a very proactive character; thanks to the "find the memories" gameplay, we see her travel all across Hyrule instead of just sitting at her castle, she's the one to handle all business with the Divine Beast pilots (and since they're all high ranking individuals among their people, this makes Zelda pretty politically active as well), and BotW ends with her wanting to work on rebuilding Hyrule.
Zelda being active continues in TotK, where there's a lot of little snippets how she has founded a school, installed memorial monuments, managed survey teams, worked on gardens, and so on. And of course she also immediately volunteered for investigating the Gloom situation at the start of TotK as well, and from the stone tablets we can read how she also got into fiddling with Constructs and fashion in the ancient Hyrule. Obviously it would have been nice to actually see all of this instead of just reading or hearing it second hand, but I understand that not everything can get a fancy cutscene, so it's at least nice that this was included in the game at least in some fashion.
I touched on it in the part about her nerdy side, but let's also bring specific attention to the fact that BotW Zelda also has a delightfully weird and chaotic side to her. She tries to feed a frog to Link, and the TotK stone tablets tell about how she would ride Mineru's construct despite the protests of the chamberlain. And while the recipe she cooks in AoC is a legit BotW recipe, the way the scene is depicted clearly makes her come across as eccentric in her cooking.
AoC also casts her in a leadership role once her powers finally awaken and she becomes more confident. Honestly I prefer the insecure nerd Zelda over the charismatic leader because I don't think she quite has enough credibility to pull off rousing speeches to masses at this point of the story, but I guess it does make sense for the kind of story they're telling
Her powers are pretty inconsistent between games, BotW is obviously all about awakening her sacred sealing power, and the game ends with her saying that she used all that up. And then TotK reveals she had two different powers all along; Sonia's time power comes out of nowhere and Rauru's light power overlaps with her BotW ability a lot. But I can live with a discrepancy like this since I like the story of TotK.
Since I brought up how it's nice that Skyward Sword is implied to have a knitting hobby, I suppose it should be mentioned that BotW Zelda made the Champion's blue clothes and accessories. Though here it feels a lot less important and even a bit tacked on, since BotW Zelda already has so much going on that is more important and meaningful to her character. But I guess crafting clothes is princessy enough of a subject that Rhoam approves of spending time on it instead of prayer practice and even brags about it. A different little detail that I like more than this clothing thing is that we get to learn Zelda's favourite food (fruitcake).
In Japanese Zelda uses polite language, but no honorifics. I'm no Japanese expert, but to me this comes across as keeping a polite distance from everyone, while also implying status ("I'm a princess so I don't need to use a honorific for you"). Also in the beginning of AoC, Link (who at this point is just a random knight to Zelda) kneels in front of her and she doesn't even acknowledge him, so it appears she's pretty used to her standing. The stone tablets in TotK also describe her having an undeniable air of nobility.

so what do you think of the newly minted game and its community who are speedrunning the development of ICBMs to save... Hyrule? I dunno at this point.
Ohh, that's honestly a tough question! I've been a Zelda fan for about a decade now, so I've seen the series go through a lot of changes. In my opinion, ToTK is a happy marriage between Skyward Sword (which was my favorite Zelda game until ToTK) and Breath of the Wild (which I... really did not enjoy because it was such a staunch departure from the Zelda formula).
But Tears of the Kingdom addressed every single qualm I had with BoTW, really! The first major improvement I noticed was the music, which is also very important to me. There are some tracks from ToTK that I CANNOT stop listening to:
youtube
youtube
youtube
And the story was much improved, both in how impactful it was and how it was delivered.
I still wish they made Link a little bit more expressive and gave him more character, though. Wind Waker and Skyward Sword have so much charm due largely in part to how we see Link react to things, and it was really jarring to see him just kind of... neutral about everything, constantly. It does give the player a lot of room to project, which I obviously do via the comics I create, but I think it's something I'd like to see them change moving forward.
I'm mid about the building mechanics. They're cool, but I think the game would've been just as much fun without them (for me personally). Fuse, on the other hand? Love it! Definitely made combat more rewarding and fun.
I'm worried about where the series will go from here, though. I think a lot of fans who didn't enjoy Zelda before (or didn't pay the franchise much mind) got into the series because of Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild. How are those fans going to react when we move away from this reincarnation of Link? Will Nintendo decide to play it safe and stay in the same timeline? Are we going to keep moving the series into the "future" with this technology?
All that aside, the game's a 10/10 and I ugly cried at the end!

Thoughts on the Zelda news
HOLY SHIT
I'm surprised we're getting a new mainline game so soon. I genuinely expected a port of older existing games at best if anything. (We did get Four Swords which I'm really happy about). I was worried TOTK would ruin future Zelda games for me but the prospect of playable zelda saved it (which almost feels purposeful so good on you Nintendo)
Speaking of TOTK, thank the stars they're not trying to squeeze a third game out of the BOTW map. TOTK is amazing and a third one would just be tired out
I like that it's in the Link's Awakening remake toy style. It'd feel wrong for Nintendo to make a new realistic 3D open world type game that we have to wait 6 years for like TOTK (still waiting on the TP port tho!). However, a shift to a more cute cartoony look makes more sense without regurgitating the same toon Link designs from the Wind Waker and Four Swords trilogies. Plus LA is so charming!
I'm hyped for playable Zelda! I know there's been Wand of Gamelon (and Spirit Tracks as a command-able companion) but this is so exciting since it's a more new mainline release. This truly is Zelda's Awakening (for taking a more active protagonist role in her own franchise). And hopefully this'll open the door for more playable Zelda? (but I'm getting ahead of myself). It truly is the legend of Zelda!
This might be controversial but I think it's a good decision for Zelda to not wield a sword and shield. Cause that would defeat the purpose of having a new protagonist in my mind; if you just swap Link for Zelda but don't change anything else than what's the point? What distinguishes the hero's Courage from Wisdom? She can fight but has the wisdom to take a more magic-based combat approach with the tri-rod or wand (of Gamelon haha). Though it'd still be pretty sweet if EOW Zelda pulled out some Sheik moves or a cool shot with a bow to be honest.
I really appreciate the union between the older top-down style (hopefully more linear!) and the newer mechanics that allows for multiple creative solutions for the same puzzles. Of course, Nintendo's trying to lean towards the openness and creativity of individualizing one's gameplay experience from TOTK by incorporating the echo mechanic but it really works to give it to Zelda! I will find a way to complete the game solely with the potted plant echo or something stupid.
The triforce is back, baby! The little fairy Tri reminds me of Rosalina's star pet thing from Mario Galaxy. I can't believe the essence of the triforce incarnate is Zelda's cute travelling companion. Does this make her one of the most powerful heroes? (aside from the earliest ones where Link wields the entire triforce). Also it's probably for the sake of the echo mechanic but I'm curious why Tri seems to have 4 little triangles instead of 3? Lore implications?
Speaking of lore implications, WHERE in the timeline will this go??? I've seen a lot of people suspect it's in the downfall timeline, maybe after Link's Awakening or ALTTP because it's the same Hyrule map so I'm willing to agree for now. Even if I'm getting OOT vibes for whatever reason. Though if Ganon isn't creating the purple cracks in space, there has to be a cool new villain for Zelda to face off against that messed with the triforce in some way for Tri to become the way they are. For lack of knowledge, my silly little theory is the multiverse is collapsing and Cia comes back or something idk (I may be biased tho because the cracks are visibly inspiring the rifts in space-time I'm planning for TC).
All in all, I'm so happy!

*burst through door* I AM HERE TO TALK
Let’s see…
What whumptober prompt are you most excited about?
If you could write a post-game adventure for any of the Zelda games you played, which would it be and what kind of vibe/premise would you go for?
Does Volga ever hug Link in hdw au? I know he’s a bit aloof
Speaking of hdw au I occasionally still laugh at the thought of Power and Warriors interacting lol, but I also keep forgetting that a lot of people, including your AU include Mask and Tune, so how do you think they would react to Power being there? For his part I think Power would be really weirded out and worried that Mask is there since the kid’s like 11, and mildly concerned but also low key impressed that Tune is 12-13 and an accomplished Hero. I’m a little shaky on how those two are characterized tho 😅
Hm, let’s see, what else… favorite IAU boy and favorite IAU segment that you’ve written!
Laslty, have a hug from me and puppy snuggles from Anakin ❤️
dangit Skye I'm gonna cry again hdbshbkdjsf thank you for the hug and puppy snuggles <3
Okay! So I'm very excited for days 10 and 18 which go together and are very dramatic and painful and have a big epic fight I will hopefully be able to write well hehe. I'm also excited for day 11, which has some fun things I'm looking forward to involving Mipha (who I've never really written much so it's been interesting working on!). I have some more ideas that don't really match any days yet, but I'm excited for those too. Basically all of them (except tomorrow's which has absolutely nothing for it yet heh).
Oooh that's an interesting question! I mean I technically have a fic that explores a bit of what happens after botw (largely written before totk and also an AU lol), and true form goes into a bit after tp (but again, an AU), but if I had unlimited writing time... I think a really big and long and in-depth post-skyward sword fic would be cooool. Spanning several years as Link and Zelda work through stuff that happened on their adventure and their relationship/family and building a settlement on the surface... it would be so cool.
I think at some point Volga does actually hug Link :) but not for a while though. He's got to go through all that messy "actually accepting you have a son and are maybe actually attached to him" stuff, probably brought on through some dramatic inciting incident. ANd when it does happen it's probably a quick "AGHH HOW DARE YOU COME SO CLOSE TO DYING" kind of thing where he just grabs him into a hug without thinking.
I think of that sometimes and laugh too XD For Mask and Tune, I think they'd sort of take it in stride? Like, what's one more Link in this disaster anyway? Though I think Mask looks at him and can kind of... tell this guy's adventure messed him up. Mask knows about that, even if it's not exactly the same. Tune can maybe tell too, but it's probably more "my older brother senses are tingling, I'm adopting him".
Favorite IAU boy?? That's like having to choose a favorite child, I like them all... :( okayyyyy well I'm very fond of Hyrule, I had a lot of fun with his backstory. Legend is always a blast to write too because he's so silly as a little kid, and having turning into a rabbit be part of his powers, it lends to some interesting things and dynamics. I seriously don't know about a favorite IAU thing I've written, I've written... too many things. Maybe that roadtrip one, that one is silly lol

My go to plan as soon as I get totk:
Get through the tutorial area (probably in the sky then need to get back on to the surface)
Go to hateno. See if the zelink living in the hateno house together fanfics were real.
Check out something specific relating to the art book leak. (Not describing or sharing the leak so don't worry about spoilers from me! :)
Find a horse that at least looks like the one I had in breath of the wild, my beloved baby boy Romeo who can do and hasn't done nothing wrong ever in the entire 6 years of his life (he kicked me off a cliff four separate times):
Go to Gerudo desert because out of all regions it's the one I'm the most interested in seeing the state of post Ganondorf resurrection(?) murderous pissy fit.
I'm going to build me a big fuck off Zonai tractor.
Zelda. I need to know if she's alright, I would like to find out this earlier on but that's probably going to be found out through story and I really do want to take my time with it.
I need to see what the hell is happening with this korok with a backpack:
Speaking of the koroks, uhm... korok forest is gone. I definitely want to check that out. (Sorry this picture so so fucking blurry with how it's zoomed in but the forests gone)
I need to find out if I can glue two Royal claymores together (or an equivalent) to make a big fuck off abomination claymore that does double claymore damage that looks like this:
Go back to eventide. I wonder if they added something there. It seems like something thats a no brainer to do.
Check out what the fuck is going on with the labyrinths I can't find the screenshots now but I remember seeing some of them floating with the sky islands at some point.
If if I can find a sky island resembling at least a little bit of skyloft. I feel it in my bones that Nintendo would pull that type of shit. Or not because this is also Nintendo.
Documenting literally every even hint of a zelink moment in the entire game so I can make several posts gushing over it in the future.
Take lots of screenshots! I actually played breath of the wild on wii u and never on switch so of course I never really had that screenshot or recording capability so I finally can really go all out in this game.
The dragon that is 10000% a fucking Gleeok on the bridge of Hylia I've already determined is going to be the first overworld boss I fight. 🙂 I can't wait to fight it with only five or so hearts 🙂
Amd finally since amiibo support is confirmed and costumes are too - the artbook actually confirmed it but I don't really think that's a spoiler because it's a very obvious mechanic to bring back than just having them be used once only for the paraglider skins you get that was officially confirmed here below so I can't wait to get my ocarina of time and twilight princess gear back that I can wear for the whole game!
Over all I just really want to have fun in this game and really it looks like it's going to deliver. I can't wait to sink hundreds if not thousands of hours into and I REALLY REALLY hope it can at least fix a lot of it's predecessors issues, especially with how it executes it's story. I keep saying it, breath of the wild *had* the potential to be one of the best zelda stories ever but it was done so extremely poorly trying to tell it, majority of it is just ruined. I sincerely hope Nintendo has learned their lesson from that and actually let the Link/you the player actually play throughand experience the games narrative instead of just... having it exposition dumped onto you over and over in flashback cutscenes as stuff that's already happened and can't be changed. I went having this game with very low confidence it was first revealed in 2019, but the more and more I keep seeing it now the higher my optimism gets and I actually genuinely hope this game is really good.
I'm actually wishing the best for it and desperately hope it doesn't disappoint. We've all waited so long, and now we have only a little bit more to go.

"Link stop"
Your pained words ringed through his slightly bleeding ears, the grip he had on his sword intensifying.
He felt as if his head was going to explode, veins pumping furiously around his brain. His skin was sweaty too, trying to regulate the temperature of his warm body. A dificult task thanks to his lively and irregular breathing and of course, his anxious thoughts.
Your hand fell on his shoulder as he felt the dew surfacing the grass bellow him, soaking lightly his clothed knee. His whole body was on fire, lungs screaming for air and his scraped hands begged him not use them anymore tonight.
But he didn't want to lose you either.
Your worn out clothes and the cut you had on your arm begged him to do something about it too. He felt so guilty at the sight of you hurt and exhausted, he should've heard your yells before, he should've came sooner.
And now that he was thinking about you, he saw your lips moving again, the same worried frown rested on your brows. What were you saying again...?
"Link, please don't do this"
Right, he had expected you to say something like that, but he didn't listen to you. You always did that, he thought, putting other people's lifes on top of your own one.
But putting aside his own fierce mindset, you were worried sick about him, his torn off tunic and his dirtied up boots only boosting up your concerns. His stubborn demeanor sometimes pissed you off, he had to get what he wanted, more in situations like the one you were in right now.
But he wasn't other people, he was your friend, your best one.
He had almost spent his whole life protecting and saving people, but you were above those random travelers or villagers. Why wouldn't he help you out?
Well, maybe you were the stubborn one, maybe after all the things you had done to help other people, maybe you did deserve some help too.
But you were fine on your own, fine until a big, strong and not so friendly Lynel had crossed your path.
"Please"
"Fuck"
Your muttered out cuss only alerted the wild Lynel more, his head perking up to where you were hiding.
His slow but confident, powerful steps inched closer and closer and you didn't need to look at him to know that he was just mere meters from the tree you were hidden in.
You questioned yourself what were you more scared of, it's face and strong horse features or it's steps. Anxiety bubbled up inside your stomach, proliferating to your legs and arms, keeping them in place. You didn't know were it was right now, but you surely knew that if you took a glance, you wouldn't be able to tell others what had happened.
You also could hear the metal clanking sound of the shield it was carrying around, or maybe it was a bow. A girl from the zora domain always talked to you about the Lynels and how she needed to scare off her brothers before they did anything stupid. She told you that they always had a big bow resting on their backs, they weren't only good when they kept distance from enemies, they were fast and really strong in close encounters too.
After that talk you had figured out that you didn't want to ever see or hear a Lynel near you.
But today must be your worst lucky day.
It was so close you could hear it's breath, it's nose sniffling and searching for anything strange. Your heart almost beat off your chest when you saw it's big hairy hand from the corner of your eye.
That's it, I'm going to die.
You pictured yourself in every way it could've ended your life, grabbing you by your throat and tearing you apart with it's hands, using one his his enormous arrows, stepping on you...
Then. . . Silence
The sound of the quiet rivulet in front of you mixed with your laboured breathing was the only thing that you could hear right now.
Strangely you thought about how calm the night was today, the shiny and shy fireflies flew around the valley in front of you. The breeze hitting the rocks on the mountain next to you, creating a curious sound.
You had always loved nights in Hyrule, you loved when you and your mother walked around and watched the fishes under the moonlight on the pond in front of your house. You loved your mother and all the stuff she had taught you.
Then she would tuck you inside your warm and cozy bed after a long cold day, warming up your feet with her hands. She would always tell you a different story every night before a kiss was planted on your forehead with a sweet smile.
Why were you thinking about your mother?
You read that people's lasts thoughts before dying were related to their family, friends, lovers or pets too.
Maybe you were going to die after all.
But you haven't said goodbye to Link, you haven't invited him to a homemade meal like you promised to after he had cooked you dinner a few days ago.
You haven't told him to be careful like you always did before he stepped outside of your door.
Maybe you shouldn't have followed your insticts, stopping dead on your tracks when you heard it's characteristic stride. But you didn't, and by your stupid past decisions you were here now, trapped without any posible escape that didn't involve your death.
The grip you had on your bow had tightened, the hand you previosly saw being harshly replaced by some furious, red eyes.
You were caught.
Your legs didn't budge and theirs didn't too, at least not when he didn't spot the weapons you had. You saw him back away, a long sigh you were forcing not to let out of your mouth finally sliping off your chest.
Relief washed all over your body, carefully taking away all the stress from the prior situation.
But the warm waterfall lasted just a few seconds.
The canopy fell almost in slow motion in front of you, the violent air blast passed through your head and into the cold rivulet. You froze on spot once again, you saw the tree sliced in half in front of you.
Had whatever weapon he used, sliced a whole trunk of a tree?
You had no doubts he could, and ceirtainly would, slice your head off in an instant. Your heart was weirdly calm, your hands weren't shaking either, almost as if you were ready for your terrible end.
Your mind pictured him, his hands caressing your bow with grace as he taught you, he had strong hands. Your eyes couldn't leave his fingers, the thought of how skilled they were passed through your tired brain.
A scream finally ripped from your throat, little blue sparrows flying off in front of your feet.
Shit.
Your body was moving without the intervention of your anxious brain, rolling to your right side you managed to dodge his furious attack.
The moon rested heavily behind him, so big you thought it might have fallen from the starry sky.
Whiteish fur mixed with angry purple stripes, it's exotic form welcoming you to the dangerous nights of Hyrule. Red eyes staring almost confusedly at you, trying to read your next move.
. . .
"Hey!"
A splash of cold water awoke you from your daydreams, you flinched on spot before turning to the michevious smirk that was staring at you.
The water calmly soothed your legs, too cold to submerge the rest of your body yet. Stripped down to your underwear you had pleaded to Link to let you swim on a beautiful lake topped with a gorgerous waterfall, to console your body from all the movement it had done today.
But of course he was there to mess up your relaxation.
Sun kissed skin and soaked piercings hid the waterfall from your eyes, standing tall in front of you.
"Stop"
His lifted arms revealed his intentions, slowly approaching your dry and comfortable skin. Backing up as much as you could, your pleading face didn't break down his playful one.
You turned your head to see if you were going to bump into a rock, admiring the trees that surrounded the semi-hidden paradise.
That was your terrible mistake.
Two strong arms wrapped themselves around your waist, lifting you up until your face was met with his back, thighs resting on his chest. His colder and wet skin made you shiver, trying to squirm your way out of his grasp.
But of course he was stronger and faster than you.
"Lin-!"
Your yelp died down, drowned by the water as threw himself into it again, this time with your pleasant company. You slid off his grasp, ending up bellow him.
His hands rested on your biceps, your torso floating beside his own one. Your own hands held his nape and his shoulder for dear life, taking a big, choked out breath.
"You're a jerk"
A chuckle escaped his lips and as if someone had punched you with a knucle full of reality, you took in the state you two were in right now.
His sleepy muscular frame held your body close to his, teeth flashing as he chuckled.
He was shirtless.
You had seen him plenty of times in that state, normally his Gerudo vests left little to imagination when he showed them off to you.
And you actually found that really cute about him, he liked showing you whatever he had bought that day, from gorgerous opal earings to fierce armours.
But this time it felt different.
The warmth he naturally emited from his body warming you up from the cold water, both of you soaked and making skin to skin contact.
You needed to get out of there or you were going to explode.
But you were too comfy on his arms, unconciously leaning further into him. You noticed the little red hues on his cheeks, matching yours perfectly.
Maybe you could rest there for a few more minutes, just some silly quick minutes.
. . .
You missed that warmth, a warmth that could lasts for days on your skin, almost as if your mind didn't want to let go of the comfort.
Comfort you seeked on cold nights like this, rushed steps towards his house, curious eyes trying to adjust to the dimness of the night. Your breath fanned on his window, knees a bit scraped as you had just climbed his hard wall.
He was about to go to bed as the good, young man that cared about his health he was. But your knock on the glass inturrumpted his routine.
His senses were highened again and he quickly tried to figure out if someone had broken in. But when he saw your face on his window he nearly had a heart attack.
"Hey"
You whispered out as he opened the window, your smile never failing to melt down his limbs, all the stress he had acumulated inside him fading away just by your sight.
"I can't sleep"
Just as he had thought.
"And I see you're not asleep yet so..."
He was indeed half asleep.
But he fought his urges to fall right on your knees to sleep, you were way more interesting than whatever dreams he had waiting for him that night.
"Do you wanna go for a walk?"
And that's how he ended up with you by his side tonight, his sword resting heavily on his back just in case something happened.
Cold, muted grass bellow your feet, the air striking nicely through your hair all the way down to your feet.
You needed to feel alive again, the silence of the night consumed you.
You loved the loud echo of your shoes compared to the serene demeanour of your surroundings. It was almost as if the world changed when the sun dissapeared, new animals that were too shy to come out, flowers that only bloomed when it was dark.
You loved all of those little Hyrule things.
But on top of all of them, you loved him.
Those words seemed to have lost their potential by all the times you had repeated them inside your head, but they were true.
He was your hero, your shoulder to lean on whenever you wanted, a puppy that loved when you let him place his head on your lap, your personal knight.
You adored the dexterity he had with his multiple weapons, his easiness to use whatever his eyes had landed on to fight and end up victorious. His bow, his abilities were incredible to watch.
"Look"
Your muttered words almost weren't percieved by his ears, but his training didn't betray him.
"They're gorgerous"
His eyes then saw what you were chit chatting about, his pupils immediately shrinking slightly by it's lighting.
A blupee was jumping around some fireflies, the whole scene causing a disrupt of the natural darkness. But it looked so volputeous, you were thankful you weren't sleepy that night.
Well, he thought so too but after a while he felt something getting heavier on his shoulder.
Your face was crushed by his shoulder and your legs had gave up from your squatted position. But before your head could make contact with the floor, he stopped the movement with his palm placed on your forehead.
You had fallen deeply on top of him.
Soon his legs gave up too, afraid to move too much but not enough to sit appropriately. He relaxed to the sound of the quiet hops and your silent snores.
Your lightened face whenever you saw the smallest things were his will to live, to fight for Hyrule.
He liked your nose, the way it would scrunch up whenever you had smelt something you didn't like. He liked your cheeks too, maybe that was the reason he liked to tease you, waiting impatiently for them to turn red.
He loved what your eyes didn't.
He didn't understand much things about the world he was standing on, but on top of all of them, he didn't understand the way you viewed yourself in the mirror.
How could a human being, so gorgerous like you, disregard such beautiful features?
He often found yourself covering your smile when you laughed and was mad he couldn't see your cute teeth. Or whenever you tried to hide your body from other's eyes, he was absolutely clueless why you did so.
"You idiot"
Unfortunately, your sweet voice was wasted away with those nasty words. His head hurt, everything hurt.
He first saw your rosy cheeks and then your glossy eyes and although he felt guilty he had made you cry, he felt more guilty for finding that look on your face absolutely stunning.
His body enveloped itself with pain once again and he asked himself if he had passed out on top of you. Maybe that was the reason your pretty lips were quivering as you looked at him.
Your softness narcotized him back to sleep, but your pained voice kept him from doing so. His head felt warmer than the rest of his body and when he looked around, you were there, holding his head so tenderly he thought he had died right there.
The rest of his body was soaked up by the night grass, your knees touching his left tricep.
He then flashed back to what had happened, your worn out body ready to be squashed by a huge broadsword. But his shield was there to take the hit instead, his heart dropping down to his feet when he saw the blood on your face.
His mind wouldn't stop tormenting him about how he should've been there sooner, he was angry both at you and at himself. How could you risk your life like that?! What if he wasn't there that evening?
He couldn't bring himself into thinking further about that horrible topic, he was happy he had saved you from that stupid lion-looking monster.
"Don't you dare passing away on me again"
He smiled, the most truthful smile you had ever seen on a man's face. His skin was dirtied up, his calloused hands rested almost sinfully on top of the pure grass.
And yet you didn't seem to care about it all.
He could be covered in mud, dirt or whatever he had fallen on that day you were still going to happily hold him in your arms for as long as you both pleased.
Your love for him could break walls, thick tension in the air whenever you hugged him, held his hand.
Your fingers found his cheekbone, pressing his face so it was pressed on your stomach as you let some few bitter drops fall from your eyes.
You were too scared you could've lost him today, die without telling him how much love you had waiting for him with open arms.
Yet it was the most beautiful scenario you could've wished for.
The fear of loss, you weren't going to sit on that grass like you were now ever again.
Even the goddess was jealous of you, the way you lived like it would be your last day breathing, loving.
How you fought, spending your days with the anxiety of nostalgia and the inevitable future.
Your passion, love, living your life at it's fullness.
You then found yourself with your head on his chest, listening to his slowed down heart. It should have calmed you down, but it only made the bubbling sensation inside your guts grow.
Your hands were on fire, veins still pumping furiously thanks to the attack from earlier. But you didn't care, streams of salty water slid down your cheeks, hiccuping on his chest with no reason to.
He was alive, breathing.
However, you didn't seem to stop, the more you thought about him, the more you let yourself fall appart on his chest.
"I'm fine"
His voice was deep, months had passed since the last time you had heard it. His palm soothed your back and that only made your whimpers louder.
You were probably one of the few people he let himself talk freely with, that made your heart shrink hard. But the reason why he couldn't talk with anybody made your heart nearly explode.
He was expected not to feel.
He couldn't let himself slip out a scared gasp, what would Hyrule think about a scared hero?
Let alone crack a smile, Hyrule wouldn't want some dumb, crackhead as a saviour right?
He was so used to it that he barely even talked to you, it would be disrespectful. And, Hylia, how you missed his voice. You would pay a thousand rupees only to get him to talk to you, soothe you with his honeyed tone.
Such a pretty mouth that was wasted away by his strict norms.
"You'll be alright, I swear"
Your puffy eyes looked at his half lidded ones before both of your hands brought his attention to you.
"I'm going to run you a hot bath, you'll be alright"
You continued talking, trying to calm him down but in reality you were trying to soothe your own nerves.
When death took your hand, you would held him with your other one. Promising you would find him in every life time.
"Please stay with me"

Read how the Links would not be ok if you liked a villain. Hm…I don’t like a villain, don’t worry lol. But I have thought about Ganon (totk) and how I feel bad for him. My ex told me (as he’s way more familiar w the games than me) that Ganon is evil bc he’s corrupted by gloom from Demise or something. Therefore it’s not completely his fault, because also I mean, no one is just born evil like that. So I’ve sometimes looked at him in the cut scenes (haven’t finished the game yet so idk the ending) and thought “y do we have to hurt him? If he’s just corrupted by the gloom from demise, then y can’t we find a way to save him? Bc then the three parts of the triangle could work together! So how would Tears feel about that idea floating around my head? Bc I’m not romantically interested in Ganon or anything, just wanna save him.
Also from my last ask, me killing the npcs by accident and laughing like a maniac. Yeah so an example of that would be when you have to save the dude w the horn or whatever (from the band) in the big hole he fell into, and get his wagon out too. So I still only had one battery, so when I attached the hot air balloon and flame emitter, it ate my battery too fast to get out. So the first time I didn’t know that’d happen, so we went up then immediately dropped down and it froze the screen on the dude’s face and his speech bubble said something like “omg I’m gonna die! Put me down!!” And then went black. And that’s where I laughed and my roommate looked at me very concerned 😂
On another side note: yeah no, totally don’t change the camera angle to look at Link’s face, or take pictures, or put him in the Gerudo vai outfit bc I think it’s the cutest thing ever lol. What does Wild think of that outfit? What does he think of me liking that outfit?🙈😂
as for the first bit I think he'd respect the thought behind it - it'd be making his life easier if that would be possible after all, which means more time to fawn over you instead! he also respects how hopeful it is, because honestly ganon is as much a pawn to the games code as he used to be too - he isn't even aware of it either, just a soulless husk for the code to puppet for it's tasks. but don't put too much thought into ganon, else he's going to get jealous. Why are you thinking about him so much when he isn't alive, when he's right here!! if you say too much about ganon without stopping to think about him then it's going to really start getting on his nerves.
sfdgvaesvgadvgga that quest becomes so much easier when you realise you can just recall something back up to the top after pushing it into the hole lmao (definitely not how I solved the quest nuh uh) (also I'm guessing by other ask you mean the one where you used link to calculate hp?) but I can see why your roommate was concerned after the fade to black when you were laughing sdfsdfvdsv
also no never zooming in on his face never ever nuh uh
(only the last one is mine, the others are from pintrest)
I think wild would love the vai outfit - like how tears adores the frostbite one, and it's less the outfit itself and more your reaction to them. even if right now they're just your dressup dolls soon enough they'll be able to show off the outfits for you as more than just pixels on a screen <33

I've just about beat Echoes of Wisdom (meaning I got to the entrance of the final dungeon and then ran off to 100% everything else which I'm now done with) and I really loved it. There are so many reasons why I loved it, but the biggest is that it brought back classic core game elements we haven't seen since Link Between Worlds (which came out in 2013 holy shit that's a lifetime ago) and that I was worried the series would leave behind. Namely dungeons. OH MY GOD I MISSED DUNGEONS. I've been worried that with the success of BotW the series might never do true dungeons again, so now that I can rest easy on that I can enjoy TotK even more
Other things beyond dungeons I was delighted to see again:
A gameplay gimmick that's fun but highly unlikely to be seen again. Every Zelda game has a gimmick that defines it and keeps each game fresh and fun: turning into a wolf, islands, boats, trains, birds, masks, turning 2D, and now echoes. I love getting to explore the new gimmick without worrying that it will take over the entire series
A companion character!!!!!!!!!!
A silly little guy who is excited to drag you into his hobby and reward you for helping him with it (like the bunny guy from Spirit Tracks, or bug girl from Twilight Princess)
Summoning your horse from anywhere. Oh my GOD I hate needing to keep track of my horse
Being able to swim indefinitely
Rupees from cutting grass
Music that gets stuck in my head and that I hum along with
Yetis!!!!! I have so much nostalgia for the Twilight Princess yetis
The fact it's not open world, ie possible to actually beat it and complete literally everything without spending hundred of hours on it. I like feeling accomplished ok, I liked closed games. AND this means it's actually replayable
And probably a bunch more stuff I'm blanking on right now
Now I'm feeling a bunch of love and nostalgia for the series as a whole. I want to go play all the older games again, rexperience what I loved about each one
#legend of zelda#mineminemine#echoes of wisdom#I should get some batteries for my wii motes and start with tp it's always been my favorite and I've been wanting to replay for awhile now
