hii! I'm new to this platform and I haven't fully understood how it works yet... also, english is not my first language. but here are some headcanons <3
đđ đđđđđđđđđđ
â Rindou Haitani in a relationship HCS ᥣđŠ
I don't know why, but I think he's a person who isn't jealous of you, or at least not excessively. Not that it forbids you from doing anything without him, no, I don't see him doing it like that. Jealous maybe when there's a need, like when someone gets a little too clingy and thinks you're not taken (or already married, in rindou's mind)
You two rarely argue because I believe he is someone who goes out of his way to turn arguments into a simple squabble
He likes to show you off, especially with Ran. Always hidden in the idea of being weaker because he is younger than Ran, he took personal revenge when he had a girlfriend before his brother
He prefers not to tell you about the way he fights. Famous for breaking limbs, he is afraid that if you ever knew you would leave him for fear
He doesn't trust leaving you with Ran, he's afraid he might show you photos of him as a child or when he was just a little delinquent and wore a rather questionable haircut. It would embarrass him
He loves those online games for couples. After we were together for a year, he bought you a console to play with him. Being with him, you learned how a controller worked when playing video games. He loves the evenings you two spend on call playing some game made for two
He's afraid of your father. Not for anything in particular, they met and your father even said he trusts him, but the concept that HE is YOUR FATHER, puts him in awe. He adores your mother but couldn't spend more than a few minutes in a room with him without screaming (and let's remember, he rules Roppongi. What a pitiful scene...
If you two are together for more than a year, you are automatically his future wife. He thinks it takes a lot of patience to be with him, so if you've been together this long without ever breaking up, he thinks you're the one. So, why not get married in 10 years and keep it you all to himself?
Not a big fan of going out unless organized AT LEAST a week before. He prefers to stay on the sofa, perhaps hugging each other, watching some film he adores
I think he's someone who doesn't exactly know how to comfort when you cry. He knows he has to do certain things, maybe hug you or say something sweet, but he thinks that doing so would annoy you. But he, at least, tries to help when happen

PlayStation VS Date
Charles x fem!reader
From this request
Summary: Because you didn't have a plan, you decided to spend Valentine's Day playing PlayStation with your neighbor Charles. When someone wanted to take you out to dinner at the last minute, Charles did everything he could to stop you from going because he loved you.
Prompts:âIâve been hit with Cupidâs arrow. / âWhy? Because Iâm in love with you, thatâs why!â
WARNINGS: Quick finish,not edited writing

You and Charles had a good friendship because you were neighbors. On Valentine's Day, you both had no job or plan, so you were thinking of playing PlayStation together. You bought something and went to his house, he knew you are coming, so he had arranged the game.
"Are you ready to lose today lord Perceval" he laughed and sat next to you shaking his head "You're talking too soon madame we'll see" you started the game, you were going ahead, even if you cheated, Charles was ignoring and sometimes even losing on purpose.
You got a notification on your phone for a moment, so you got distracted. You looked at the text you got on your phone. There was a boy you've been talking to for a while and he wanted to take you out to dinner. It actually sounded good, you think Charles wouldn't mind
You stopped the game Charles rebelled "Come on, YN I was going to win, what are you doing" you stood up and shook your phone "I have a date plan sorry it happened suddenly, we can continue tomorrow"
Charles left the console on the couch and stood up, "You didn't have a plan in the morning, who are you going to go with? Don't tell me that idiot you've been talking to for the past few months, please, the man is an idiot he doesn't know how to treat women"
You rolled your eyes and put your phone in your pocket You grabbed Charles's face with both hands and kissed his cheek "Sorry Charles, we'll continue tomorrow" you left Charles in the living room and went to the door, just as you opened it Charles closed the door, you turned to him to understand what had happened. He had you stuck between the door and himself.
the distance between you was too short You pushed Charles a little bit but he still didn't move "Don't go on a date" You crossed your arms over your chest "Why" he looked at the ceiling for a while as if hesitant to tell the reason he looked into your eyes again without realizing you held your breath âWhy? Because Iâm in love with you, thatâs why!â You uncrossed your arms and studied his face, he wasn't kidding.
"I don't know YN it's like since the first time I saw you Iâve been hit with Cupidâs arrow.â You were really surprised because that's how you felt when you first saw Charles, even though you didn't want to admit it, you loved him too.
You opened your mouth to speak but the words weren't coming out, you couldn't find what to say."Your kind behavior, you don't stop competing with me even though you are terrible at games, your excellent cooking skills, your bad jokes and even that hair habit tick impresses me a lot YN"Â
"Hey I'm not bad at games" he laughed and bit his lip and said "You suck" you whispered "I know" he put one hand on your cheek "I tried really hard to stay away from you and leave you alone but every morning when you go out on that balcony and look at me something happened to my heart, YN please say something" you took his hand on your cheek and kissed the inside "I love you more than you love me Charles"
You let go of his hand and hugged him and after a while you left him behind and walked into the hall "I have a bone to pick with you. Perceval come here, I'll show you who is suck" he entered the room laughing and continued the game from where you left off.

you are 25 when you hug 'tsumu for the first time.

...& THEN?
it was almost time. your apartment was a complete mess: two big suitcases laid open on the floor of your living room, while a backpack had been sitting on the cushions of your couch for the last couple of days. in the bedroom and in the kitchen there were boxes ready to be filled with the belongings youâd decided to bring along with you.
in a few days you would finally leave your country for good, a one-way ticket for japan bought months in advance. it felt incredibly liberating: the country of your dreams, where you unwittingly found a family and where youâd hopefully spend the rest of your life was waiting for you.
on the small console table near the front door sat all your documents: passport, approved visa, papers needed to start the process of obtaining citizenship, the last two paychecks and the note from the bank â last but not least the plane ticket. surreal. that was one word that could describe the hectic chaos of emotions swarming both your heart and head.
the owner of the small bookshop where youâd worked in the last five years (a lovely korean lady in her sixties) agreed to take your plants and to see you off at the airport on the day of your departure. looking around, all the green friends youâd seen grow in the last few years were bundled together, ready to meet their new home. a small smile graced your lips, happy to know they wouldâve been well cared for and youâd receive regular updates on their growth.
then you still had to say goodbye to the owner of the apartment, who lived just next door; after that, all the tasks that still bound you to the city would be completed, setting you free to begin your new life.

YOUR LOCATION, 04:15
it was early, way too early for your likings. groaning, you stretched under the sheets, the tank top riding a bit over your ribcage. your hand tentatively moved over the duvet searching for your phone so to turn off the alarm. a few notifications arrived during your short slumber: a few messages from atsumu (who had absolutely no idea of the fact that today was the day), one from osamu, while the last one was from the wallet app, letting you know that your digital ticket was now available.
you chose a comfortable fit for the long journey â black leggings, âtsumuâs shirt and sweatshirt, the most comfortable pair on nike you owned. everything was ready; the bookstore owner would send your boxes over once youâd found a more permanent solution compared to an airbnb, while the two black suitcases were finally closed and next to the door. touring the various rooms one last time, you made sure to have taken everything with you.
several hours later, you were flying over vast mountainous regions, the plane directed towards incheon airport, where you would have to spend about an hour before the last leg of your journey.
a small yet sincere smile graced your lips when the hostess announced it was almost time for landing. you knew exactly what you wouldâve done just a few minutes prior to boarding on the japan airlines airbus a350 â there was a certain someone you just had to call.
bubbling with adrenaline, you made your way towards the gate and opted to stay standing in front of the tall floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the runway. was this the same adrenaline atsumu and the others felt before a match? the feeling of being invincible and ready to do anything?
taking a deep breath, you went over to the setterâs contact info. you felt giddy inside thinking that now you were in the same timezone, for the first time in five years. it was almost 11 pm, you called.
âhey bubs, whatâs up?â
âhi âtsumu, are you still at practice?â
âyeah, but now weâre having a short break. although you know iâd drop anything for you.â
shameless flirt, you thought to yourself, smiling widely at this point.
âwell, i have a little something to tell you: currently, iâm at incheon airport. in a few minutes iâll board a flight that will bring me to kansai international airport-â
âwhat?!â
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/69515cda4e717b34f34cfd1773b58831/4e1a939a6bf47066-19/s540x810/625d39485b60f6d5915d0376e19002efb72a0b63.jpg)
ĹSAKA, 01:40
exactly one hour and forty minutes later, you were at the baggage claim. as expected of japanese punctuality, your two very black and very big suitcases were delivered on time, so in just ten minutes you were making your way over to exit the claim area of the airport.
you had no plans, apart from reaching the bnb you booked. you didnât know if the small bomb you dropped to atsumu earlier on would have made him magically appear in front of you, for one of those incredibly clichĂŠ airport reunions that were so popular in dramas. right now you were just too tired to think further, the almost seventeen hours of flight weighing on you. slowly, you tried to navigate through the sea of people that, just like you, wanted to leave the area to reach a place of rest. but, you underestimated how big kix would be; despite being incredibly well designed, it was not exactly easy on the brain of someone who was that tired. for a split second you thought about asking osamu to come pick you up, but the idea quickly left your mind as fast as it came â he was surely tired after a long day at onigiri miya.
you stopped in a little less crowded area, trying to collect your thoughts and figure out the best route to reach your bnb.
atsumu had never run so fast in his entire life. the moment you ended the call, he dropped everything at the gym, shouting half an explanation to his team before grabbing his sweatshirt and sprinting out of the stadium, catching the first available taxi and finally making his way to the airport.
despite being this late, there were still so many people crowding the area. how the hell was he supposed to find you? running a hand through his messy blond locks, he tried to follow a logical line of thought: first, you mustâve gone through the customs to get your visa approved, then surely you went to the baggage claim; his eyes frantically scanned the huge display, looking for the latest plane inbound from seoul. gate 41. of course it had to be the farthest one from the main entrance!
his instinct told him to go towards the columns where the vending machines were located. sure enough, you were there. with his clothes on. your backpack was sitting nicely on top of your suitcase, open as you rummaged through its contents.
atsumu smiled as he made his way behind you, his cheeks hurting from the emphasis of the movement. as he got closer, he could breathe in your perfume and the fragrance of your shampoo. seeing his surname plastered across your back did inimaginable things to his heart, adrenaline shooting through his veins at a thousands miles per second. then, quickly yet gently, he brought his hands to cover your pretty eyes, your back now flush against his sturdy chest â the 32 centimetres of height difference even more evident.
âhey bubs, welcome home.â
it all happened in a fraction of a second: you tensed, then quickly spun around to bury your face in his chest, while hugging him tightly.
ââtsumu! what are you doing here? youâre supposed to be at practice now!â
âdo you really think i couldâve stayed there knowing you were here? very funny, bubs.â
after staying in silence wrapped around one another for a few more minutes, you moved your arms to sneak around his neck; in the meantime, his hands went to grab you in the space between your buttocks and the posterior part of your thighs, hoisting you up. immediately, your legs went around his waist.
now that you were eye level, you both had a dashing, lovestruck smile adorning your features. you cupped his cheeks and booped his nose with your own. your thumbs were slowly caressing the apples of his cheeks, never breaking eye contact.
then, a small whisper, as if his hold on you could disappear just like in a dream.
âhi, iâm home.â
a small kiss on the tip of your nose.
âhi, welcome home.â
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/69515cda4e717b34f34cfd1773b58831/4e1a939a6bf47066-19/s540x810/625d39485b60f6d5915d0376e19002efb72a0b63.jpg)
ĹSAKA, 03:00
atsumu insisted on having you at home with him. his hand never left you: while going to the taxi, with one he was carrying half of your luggage, the other was intertwined with yours; during the ride, you were nestled in his side while his fingers gently moved up and down your arm.
despite the very late hour, neither of you was tired â there were simply so many things you wanted to do now that you were finally sharing the same space. without thinking twice, atsumu carried your things to his bedroom, setting them nicely near his wardrobe for you to unpack the next day.
âhungry, bubs? wanna something to eat?â
when you happily nodded, he smiled brightly and ruffled your hair. then, he opened one drawer and pulled out a neatly folded shirt and handed it to you.
âgo have a shower or a bath, whatever you fancy; iâll fix you something in the meanwhile, yeah?â
âyouâre the best, âtsumu, thank you!â
the sweet kiss you planted on his cheek (terribly close to his right snakebite) was all he needed before going to the main area of the house, where both the kitchen and the living+dining area sat in an open space. as he was about to leave the room, he turned back to you.
âfeel free to leave all your things around, both in the bathroom and around the house!âÂ
now alone in his room, you sat on the floor. was it all real? or were you stuck in a wonderful dream? in case of the latter, then you had no intention of waking up. coexisting with atsumu in his space with him felt so natural and spontaneous, as if youâd always lived together. deep inside, you were squealing like a little child.
âokay, i need to stop. time for a shower!â
you rummaged a bit in your suitcase to fetch a pair of shorts to wear under the shirt and your toiletries. the warm water rolling over your body relaxed your muscles, tense from all the hours you spent crammed in a plane. also, the branches of eucalyptus that the setter kept in the wetroom gave off such a pleasant fragrance that did wonders to soothe the beginning of your headache.
clad in the way too big shirt and a towel around your neck to prevent your wet hair from dripping water everywhere, you made your way over to the kitchen. you stood for a bit in the doorframe, admiring the view: atsumu was in front of the stove, where a pot of water was boiling, and several ingredients sat on the countertop. he had ditched the sweatshirt as soon as you got home, so you could see the muscles in his arms flex for any single movement. with a small smile gracing your lips, you made your way over; once close enough, your right hand went over his back to rest right between his shoulder blades.
âthat doesnât look like a quick snack, mind if i help you?â
âoh no no no. you sit on the counter and look pretty.â
with that, atsumu wiped his hands on a towel, before picking you up by the waist and gently sitting you on the surface right next to him. effortlessly. the setter resumed his ministrations: chopping the scallion and the mushrooms, while the lotus root was simmering before being stir fried with the tofu. after having drained the noodles, he put them in another pot where coconut milk was simmering with some soy sauce; once the other ingredients finished their trip in the pan, they joined the noodles in the pot. a few more minutes and a big, steaming cup of vegetarian ramen was on the counter.
with the bowl in hand, atsumu came towards you, stopping between your legs. his right hand was holding a pair of chopsticks, with dangling udon and a bit of scallion on top.
âsay ahhh.â
you leaned in close, graciously accepting the food in a single mouthful, a dashing smile lighting up your features.
âoh my gosh, itâs delicious! when did you learn to make this? and how did you know that itâs my favorite dish?â
âwell, you mentioned it once three or four years ago, and after that time i asked âsamu to teach me⌠yâknow, in the eventuality weâd meet one day.â
your expression became even softer when noticing the slight blush adorning the tip of his ears. your hands went over his holding the bowl, retrieving also the chopsticks in the meanwhile. when you spoke again, while mimicking his actions and offering him a bite, your voice was barely above a whisper â but, considering how close you were, it was more than enough.
âand look at us now, together in your kitchen as if weâd been together for years.â
âhonestly, bubs, i think itâs high time we fix that, yeah?â
after the incident with the pictures of almost two months ago, atsumu started shamelessly flirting with you, leaving no doubts or room to misinterpret his feelings. and you, for once, decided that it was worth it to also let him know that yeah, you felt the same way and everything was perfect like this. in a sort of silent mutual understanding and agreement, after realizing for just how long you had been loving each other (at this point it was way more than a simple crush), it was okay to skip a few steps along the way.
when atsumu started to lean in close, his hands coming up to cup your cheeks, you wasted no time in sneaking your arms around his neck, lovingly caressing his nape.
and then it happened. at half past four in the morning, while in his kitchen, with an empty bowl of delicious ramen long forgotten next to you. âtsumuâs lips were on yours, ever so gentle and delicate; the cold metal of his piercings was a stark contrast with your own skin.
neither of you could stop the smile growing on your features. everything was just perfect. small laughs were exchanged in between kisses and pecks, with the soft light of the overhead kitchen lamp as the only source of illumination.
âgosh, i love you so so muchâŚâ
an almost inaudible whisper against your mouth, as gentle thumbs caressed your cheeks, a smile so bright it couldâve rivalled the whole galaxy.
âme too, âtsumu. i love you so much.â
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/69515cda4e717b34f34cfd1773b58831/4e1a939a6bf47066-19/s540x810/625d39485b60f6d5915d0376e19002efb72a0b63.jpg)
ĹSAKA, 15:49
when you opened your eyes you were greeted by the warm light of the afternoon coming in from the huge window of the bedroom. the skyline of the city was perfectly visible, as the apartment was located on the last floor of a building. when you tried to stretch, you felt someone stirring and complaining about your sudden movement. lowering your gaze, you found atsumu resting his head comfortably on your chest, while his arms were tightly wrapped around your waist. he was wearing only a pair of grey trunks, too tired after his shower to put on anything else. lovingly, your hands found their way on his back and in his hair, gently massaging his incredibly soft locks â despite the frequent rounds of bleaching in order to achieve his desired color.
âhey sleepyhead, good morning.â
âfive more minutes, pleaseâŚâ
you simply laughed a bit, leaning down and pressing a kiss to his forehead. at that the setter perked up, a lazy grin plastered across his face as he pressed his lips to yours.
âthat was the best night of sleep iâve ever had, bubs. âm so glad youâre finally here with me.â
âmhmh, iâm not going anywhere.â
you spent the next half an hour cuddling in bed (as if youâd done something different ever since you got into bed), whispering sweet nothings and deciding how to spend the rest of the day.
âi think tomorrow iâd like to meet your team, if itâs okay with you. and maybe this weekend we could go to onigiri miya with your mom, suna and aran? oh, but i have to get them something first. ah, and maybe i should first go to the government office, to start my citizenship application, just so i can be su-â
atsumu interrupted you with a sweet and innocent kiss, before looking at you with the most serious expression youâd ever seen on him.
âhey, marry me.â
âw-what?!âÂ
you were shocked, but not necessarily in a negative way: you had been dreaming of such an occurrence ever since he gave you the necklace with his surname on it. and you knew for certain that both of your feelings were stronger than ever, and would not falter anytime soon. it was just a sudden thought to voice, but after the developments of the last 24 hours, it was not a complete surprise.
âi mean it when i say that i love you. and iâm not afraid of marrying you on the spot. iâve loved you silently for so many years now that iâd be ready to change my whole life to accommodate you in it. and sure, maybe weâre skipping a few steps along the way, weâre rushing things a bit, and i donât even have a ring with me right now. but⌠marry me, please?â
and what were you supposed to answer? your heart belonged to him.
you cupped his cheeks, lifting his face until you were eye to eye. while his expression remained serious, you could see in those chocolate eyes a bit of doubt; he was probably wondering if heâd crossed a line, if such a thing was too much. after all, marrying a professional athlete was no easy feat â youâd have to be shielded from prying eyes, and his training hours kept him away from home most of the days, not to mention when he would have to attend away games. but you knew; in all those years it became obvious, and not once it became a problem in your eyes.
so you simply kissed him again and again, feeling his strong body relaxing in your hold.
âyes.âÂ
a couple of hours and a call later, you were in the office of the legal person who would sign your marriage certificate within the government building. they agreed to process your request of citizenship as well, considering that youâd automatically gain it as you were marrying a japanese citizen.
â... and what about the surnames? have you decided how you want to deal with them?â
your answer was quick and full of pride.
âiâll be taking his; my previous one can be disregarded completely.â
atsumu squeezed your hand, from where your intertwined fingers were resting on his thigh. you turned to him with a dashing smile.
the two of you signed the documents, then the employee did the same and handed you your papers and the certificate.
âyou will receive your new passport and documents in five days, directly at home. just make sure to give the courier this paper once he arrives.â
you both thanked the man and left the office, still hand in hand. atsumu was holding the tote bag containing all the papers as you made your way back to his motorcycle; then he looked down at you, pulling you in for a side hug.
âhi, ms miya.â
âhi, mr miya.âÂ
before going to dinner in a nice ramenya, the setter insisted on stopping by the jewellery shop where he had your necklace made. the old owner recognized immediately the delicate piece you were wearing around your neck, and was very pleased to know youâd never removed it for three years straight and it still didnât show signs of wear.Â
âso, what brings you youngsters here today?â
âweâd like to purchase a set of wedding rings. the simplest you have, in platinum, sizes xs and m.â
with a happy look on his face, the man went to the back of the store and came out a few moments later holding a small box in his hand. upon showing it to you, it was clear that was exactly what you were looking for.
you ended up exchanging your vows and rings in a secluded booth at the restaurant, a fuming bowl of ramen in front of you, ready to be shared, like the rest of your lives.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/69515cda4e717b34f34cfd1773b58831/4e1a939a6bf47066-19/s540x810/625d39485b60f6d5915d0376e19002efb72a0b63.jpg)
thanks to the friendship hinata had with kenma, you started working as a game designer for bouncing ball, albeit remotely from home. mama miya almost fainted when you both shared the news of your wedding that weekend at onigiri miya â the shop had been close for the day, allowing a gran reunion between the msby team and some of their friends. everyone was delighted to finally meet you in person, knowing that this was probably the beginning of weekly meetings all together.
that year atsumu and other msby members got drafted to be part of the olympic team. and when they won gold, your relationship became public: you launched yourself off the bleachers of the olympic stadium of tokyo, ready to jump into the waiting arms of your husband. and at that point all the world could see the red ink embedded on both your left wrists, as well as the shining bands adorning your ring fingers.
JUST TAKE IT SLOW, ONE DAY AT A TIME

a/n: hello! i hope you enjoy!! this req was sweet & sad to write and i think they'd all be really good at comforting mc. my reqs are open, so feel free to drop in my inbox for that, to leave feedback, or just to talk with me :3
please please please reblog
âł lucifer looks up from his work when he hears the door to his study open. âoh, mc,â he says, âhowâd it g-â the words die on his lips when he sees the crestfallen look on your face, the way youâre biting your lip. something bad has happened, and it doesnât take a genius to put two and two together, especially since you had told him you were going to be with the person you liked. âiâm sorry,â he says after a moment, sincere. he knows you had liked them a lot. âdo you wish to talk about it? if not, thatâs totally fine too.â
âł mammon swoops you into a big hug when he sees your glassy eyes. ââm sorry,â he says, doing his best to infuse you with warmth. âheartbreak is never easy, and believe me, i know.â he canât count the times heâs come home and wished someone was there to console him, which is why he hadnât hesitated when seeing you. âyer amazinâ and anyone who canât see that is a royal idiot.â you wrap your arms around him and hold mammon there, and heâs more than happy to stay for as long as you need.
âł levi had had high hopes for you, thinking about how similar the love story could be to one of his mangas or games, but when you come home sad, instead of elated, he knows it hadnât gone well. âhey,â he says, a little unsurely. heâs not really used to comforting people. âwant to go to my room and watch a horror movie or something? i have lots of snacks to share. iâll even let you pick the game we play afterward,â he tacks on hopefully. you take his outstretched hand, gratitude clear on your face, and levi resolves to do the best he can to make you feel better.
âł satan brings out his special tea blend, sitting you down on one of the plush couches in his room. he has to clear away a few books to do so, but he had you comfortable within a few minutes. âdo you want to tell me what happened?â he asks gently. it was times like this he really wished he had a cat! they were great comfort animals! âiâm always willing to lend a listening ear, you know that. but if youâd rather not, i can read you some of this book iâm reading. itâs about a scorned lover who gets revenge.â he pauses. âmaybe iâll choose a different book, actually.â
âł asmo canât believe someone would ever dare to break your heart! youâre the most awesome person he knows, besides himself, that is. âyou were too good for them anyway,â he says, settling you into his styling chair. this calls for some facemasks and ice cream, and he has both of those, thanks to the minifridge heâd recently bought. âseriously,â he insists with a scowl. âthe nerve of people these days! youâre a total catch.â you donât seem all that consoled by his words, but he knows things like this just take time to recover from.
âł beel usually isnât angry, but right now he is. how could someone put this expression on your face? what could they have done to make you feel like this? âoh, mc,â he says, catching you by the elbow. you press your lips together to stop the tears and beelâs heart wrenches. âcâmon,â he says, carefully leading you to the kitchen. âiâm pretty sure we have some cookie dough left, and that always helps when iâm feeling low.â his mind is already set to thinking about other comfort foods he can make to help cheer you up.
âł belphie widens his eyes upon seeing you, quickly jumping up. âmc, are you okay?â he asks. you had been in such good spirits earlier, setting off on a date with- oh, that asshole. âcome here,â he says, pulling you back to his bed. âwhatâs wrong? did they do something to you?â you shake your head quickly, and some of his panic eases, but heâs still really concerned. you usually bounce back quickly, so you must be really upset. heâs never been the best at making people feel better but heâs going to try his hardest for you.

{this show was off the walls. He looked so good. And the energy was just??}
You stood uncomfortably at your flights gate with Harry. After being with Harry for five shows, your anxiety had reached a peak leaving you to be faced with one of your worst panic attacks before the St. Louis show. Harry didnât want you to feel so much mental pressure so he suggested that you go home, he even bought you a ticket without consulting with you.
Your shoulders were tense as you stood rigid next to Harry. You were beyond upset and sad. You felt like a burden who being sent away to make everyone else feel better.
âLove, it will be ok. Iâll see you in two weeks for the Nashville show.â Harry comments watching your face scrunch up withholding the tears. âI just want you to see your therapist for a few days.â
âI donât wanna go. It was one panic attack. Ive done fine every other night and on the bus.â You huff not making eye contact with Harry. âYouâre just sending me away.â
Harry feels his heart break in two. âThatâs not-â
âWe are now welcoming our first class passengers.â He was cut off by the attendant. You grab your duffle on the ground, opening your phone to the electronic ticket. You moved to get in the line but Harry was quick to grab your arm to stop you. You couldnât stop the tears from welling in your eyes at the look of hurt on his face.
âYouâre not even gonna say goodbye?â He whispers.
âWhy should I? You said it for me when you purchased the ticket without even talking to me about it. Iâll call you when I land, I love you and goodbye.â You snatched your arm away, rushing to the slowly growing line of passengers.
Harry watched in defeat as you trudged onto the bridge that boarded onto the plane. You felt those traitorous tears push past the surface, your feet feeling like they were dragging behind you- wanting you to go back to your heart.
The entire flight home was painful. All hours spent on the flight looking lifelessly out of the window. Harry put you in first class but none of the comfortable perks could make you happy.
It was weird to walk back into your home with no one there walking in with you or even waiting for you. The house was dark and quiet and you felt scared to even be in the stupid beach side mansion all alone. Times like this made you regret moving in with Harry. This house only felt like home when he was there, any other time felt like your own personal solitary confinement.
Hey lovie, hope youâre flight went well. Having groceries delivered to the house for you. I love you and miss you. Xxx H.
You scoffed. That anger from before bubbling within you. He misses you? You left him on read, the pettiness easing the anger.
Harryâs eyebrows shot up at the small read notification under his sent message. He waited a few moments thinking maybe you just forgot to press send. Minutes turned to hours and hours turned into the next day.
You sat at the dining room table watching the waves eat up the sand and pull granules away at a time. Your laptop sat in front of you after you finished a telehealth therapy appointment. A ring sounded from the laptop signaling that someone was FaceTiming you.
Harryâs icon popped up in the corner of the screen. You hesitated before answering. You couldnât bare to look at yourself in the camera knowing you looked a mess. Your eyes swollen from the sobbing during therapy. Harry thought you looked beautiful nonetheless.
âGood morning baby.â He broke the silence.
âHi.â Was all you could muster. This wasnât the two of you. You both would normally fill a space with sound and giggles and now it was just silence.
âHow did you sleep?â He asks. He looked as disheveled as you. Hair messy, face red and puffy.
âFine.â You didnât look at him, playing with the frayed edges of your Live on Tour hoodie. Harry huffed in frustration.
âIs this how it will be from now on?â He snapped. Your head ďżźsnapped up out of shock.
âYouâre getting at me like somethings my fault!â You snapped back.
âWell, we didnât leave on the right foot.â
âYou sent me away!â You retaliate.
âNo, I did not. You had a panic attack before I went on stage. I had to come on stage late because I was consoling you.â
You flinched at his comment and tone of voice.
âSo itâs my fault? I canât control the panic attacks. It wasnât like I conjured one up for attention.â His lack of response broke you. âReally?â
âNo, I donât think you did it for attention but itâs a lot Y/N. I want to take you on tour with me but itâs a lot for me and you know itâs a lot for you.â He tries. His words hurt though. Youâve felt like a burden your entire life and to feel that way because of the love of your life hurts even more.
âOk. Um, I have to go.â You choke out. Harry shakes his head, the weight of his words catching up with you.
âI didnât mean it in that way. I love you and I only want to protect you.â
âYeah, protect me by sending me away when things get tough. Iâm sorry for being a burden Harry.â You hang up before he could get the last word in.
Harry sat on his hotel bed shocked. He doesnât know how things escalated the way they did. He made her feel like a burden. His body racks with sobs as he thinks of how his love must be feeling.
The day of Harryâs Philly show you felt uneasy. You didnât like not being with Harry. You got so used to your preshow rituals with him. It hurt to be left out after being so involved.
Harry felt the same way. His regret evident in the way that he couldnât stop blowing up your phone with short apologies and messages. He woke up alone in the hotel room on the day of a show feeling like utter crap.
His stomach was in knots and his heart couldnât stop pounding. Normally before a show you both would share a light meal and have small discussions about nothing. You both would take silly selfies together or watch tiktoks. But now it was just Harry.
He pulled his phone out of his pocket, impulsively clicking your contact to face time.
âPick up, pick up, pick upâŚâ He mutters. He lets out a sigh of relief when your face reveals.
âHi, Harry.â You murmur, your face squished into a pillow, his pillow because it smells good.
âHi-hi baby.â He stutters fidgeting in his seat.
âWhat do you need?â
âI need you. Youâre not a burden. I want you here, not there but here. I have a show in a few hours and all I can think about is how youâre not here with me.â He cries. You sit up in the bed, tearing up watching your boyfriend cry. His shoulders shook with the sobs that wracked through his chest.
âHarry, please breathe. Your gonna hurt yourself.â You try to calm him down but can tell itâs not working.
âCome back.â He whimpers.
âI-I think Iâm going to stay home until Nashville. We both need a breather from each other and I know I need to see my psychiatrist and probably get some new anxiety medication. Which will take the two weeks to kick in you know?â You reason. Harry wiped his face of tears nodding understandingly.
âOk. I miss you though. I fucked up horribly by making you feel less than. I know youâre not a burden and Iâd do anything for you. The stress of tour is starting to weigh on me and I took it out in you when I shouldnt have. I also thought I was keeping you safe by sending you home, but I shouldnât have done that. Because we are a team, I shouldnât be making choices for you.â
âThank you for apologizing. I understand why you did what you did. You were trying to protect me, I know. I love you Bubby.â Harry felt his world come back together at the nickname, a signal that you two would be alright. âYou have a show in like three hours, you need to get ready. Eat some food, drink water please, and Iâll go and scroll through TikTok and send you all of my faves ok?â
âOk. Thank you for being everything to me. I couldnât do what I do today if I didnât have you in my life.â Harryâs sincerity made your heart swell.
âYouâre the best thing thatâs ever happened to me. We will be alright. Now go!â You urged him to hang up the phone. He gave you one last smile before hanging up.
Watching Harry through some Instagram live wasnât what you had planned for but it felt good to see him. He even wore the outfit you picked out with Harry lambert, the blue and pink paying homage to fine line. Youâre heart gushes when he tells the crowd that heâs feeling really happy.
The next day you have another therapy appointment with your regular therapist, you even phone in Harry to join the call. You felt warm on the inside as your therapist reassured that you and Harryâs relationship was on the right path. She even said that you and Harry were meant to be together.
She didnât have to tell Harry that for him to already know that information. I mean he had the ring sitting in his pocket to prove it.

this all takes place in my poly frontier universe
pairing: triple frontier guys - Will âIronheadâ Miller, Santiago âPopeâ Garcia, Francisco (Frankie) âCatfishâ Morales, and Ben âBennyâ Miller x (f) reader
wordcount: 3k
warnings:Â obviously a poly relationship, which includes kissing, domestic intimacy with all of them (not just with the reader, but not in-between Will and Ben because nope), mild sexual themes
summary: scenes at the beginning of making a house with five people feel like home
<<
The manicured grass is soft where it peaked around the edges of your sandals. Hands running over the grooves of they key in your pocket, you gaze around the little front yard, mind conjuring daydreams that fit on the weathered porch of the house.
Two bathrooms will be enough right? Your thoughts are running - creating and erasing images of the future, trying to squish them like magic into the home in front of you. The yard is big enough to extend the garage and for plenty of home projectsâŚ
Across the fence and a long stretch of field, a woman is hiking her skirts up, making a beeline for you. The neighborâs house is a considerable distance away, being out in the countryside, but she must have been watching your tour from her garden with interest.
The others had left moments before, Santi promising to come back whenever you were done. After weeks of looking at houses, it became a little ritual of yours, to spend a few minutes looking around without the clutter of wonderful distractions.
âSo which one of those strapping young men is your beau?â She asks conspiringly, eyes gleaming. It catches you off guard â the lack of introduction, but she seems harmless enough.
Your smile is equally mischievous, and your head tilts a hair.
âWell, which one do you think?â
The woman considers, boot tip tapping away at her grass. You replay the moments she couldâve seen, which were few, wondering if youâd leaned in any particular direction, and wait.
âNow that I think about it, I havenât got a clue,â her smile is wide, softer and more genuine than before - polite. âAs long as youâre good neighbors,â she explains, âI guess I wouldnât care if it was one or all of you next door.â
You smile, thanking her as salutations ring in your ears, watching with grateful eyes as she hikes back towards her home. Then you move, wandering through the empty rooms for long, quite minutes before you peak over the fence again. The woman had gone inside, and if you squint you can see who you think is her husband, sleeping with a dog on the porch.
In the other directions, there isnât a house within a reasonable distance. A knot loosens in your chest, as an unexpected feeling of freedom from judging eyes blooms in its place.
When Santi comes back to pick you up, you take his hand across the console. His skin is warm, and his thumb automatically begins to gently move across your knuckles.
âI think itâs perfect, Pope.â
He looks at you curiously, minding his thoughts for a moment.
âYeah, love?â
The sun was beginning to set, and you look at the peaceful little home in the rear view mirror, and smile.
âYeah.â
-
âWhat?â
âWe need to ⌠break in every room.â
âIâm just saying -"
âOh heâs talking about â wait are you really horny, right now?â
âThere are boxes everywhere, idiot.â
You walk in carrying a single plant and a stack of pizzas and the conversation hushes.
âAh â payment,â Frankie kisses your cheek, moving the plant by the window as Santi clears the table.
Someone makes a quip about it being Santiâs house and you wince, the utopia popping.
âWe donât get paid to move our own stuff, Catfish.â His dark hair is damp with sweat but he seems otherwise unaffected by the hours spent hauling. It was still surreal â that this is actually happening, that this unanimously became a long term desire.
He has the most money and Will has the best credit score, so they bought the house to save you all from questions. The movement isnât lost on your Ironhead, and he rubs a soothing circle on your shoulder as he reaches for a plate. Of everyone, he was the one who most understood your anxiety â close proximity always led to arguments at first.
âYou got lucky,â Benny takes the first slice, accepting a napkin for an additional piece. âYou fell in love with a pretty good moving crew.â
âI think so,â you grin, trying to ignore your anxiety. He inhales the food, pulling you into his lap as he bickers with Will about whether or not more needed to get done today.
Eventually Frankie dictates that at the very least some cleaning should be started and the bedding should be unpacked for the evening. The agree with varying degrees of enthusiasm and after a handful of innuendos your loves begin to disperse, too dutiful to let work go unfinished. The bedframe practically builds itself, and a portable speaker makes Santiâs hips twitch as he floats through the half-barren rooms.
When Will rolls his eyes at Frankieâs choice of screw, you duck away, nerves thrumming.
And you wander around, fake cleaning, until you find your Benny clearing pizza plates. Even amongst boxes and bins and old blankets, he could be at a photo shoot. The evening light make his hair look like silk, and his eyes shine like heâs making you promises this very moment.
âI wouldnât worry too much,â he says, drawing you into his arms as your head tilts. âWe spent years in bunks and tents, and we were younger then.â
His chest was warm and you press your cheek to it, nodding. You hadnât thought he had noticed, how anxious youâd been about the change, but you had been foolish. Even through his shirt, you can feel the thumping of his giant heart, steady as a drumbeat.
Replaying the evening in your mind, you let go of some of your worries, one by one, and he kisses the top of your head. Itâs a thoughtful thing, and it never ceases to amaze you how easily he can wrap you around his finger.
âBen?â
He makes a noise, somewhere between a hum and a grunt.
You pull his face down to yours, kissing him hard. It was a kiss that says you're grateful, and a kiss that says you love him for being⌠him.
He accepts it eagerly, and tiredness from the day long gone ad he presses hot, open-mouthed kisses to your lips. The world spins and you feel him shove something heavy off the couch before replacing it with you.
The cushions are dusty from everything but he makes space, and you stop caring as he moves on top of you.
The others would find you soon, their instincts kicking in, but you savor it. Benny, pressing into you, kissing you in the evening light.
The beginning of their conversation from earlier blooms in your mind and you grin as his lips trailed down your neck. It suddenly didnât seem implausible that he planned this.
âBreaking inâ aside, this was the first room you where you truly felt like this could be home.
-
You feel his hands gently replace yours on the zipper and you jump a little - he stands just outside the mirror reflection as you watch the skirts around your ankles. Behind you the big bed is made neatly, thereâs a ridiculously large closet, and a tangle of phone chargers.
The bedroom: the place that set apart your home from others. The room that housed five individuals, a web of relationships, a miracle of mixed bodies and minds and hearts.
It looks big, behind you.
Warm, daft fingers tie the extra strings, a neat little bow hanging just between your shoulder blades. The silence is thick, weighted with adoration, but when he breaks it, itâs as if he canât resist.
âYouâre beautiful,â he moves closer, kissing your temple and drinking you in. Turning, your heart aches.
Will is in his dress uniform, crisscrossed with crisp lines and newly shined awards. His hair is lighter after the summer, and he tried to comb it neatly to one side. Compliments catch in your throat as you stare and he smiles, turning you gently so he can kiss you properly. His mouth tastes like mint and you can smell hints of his cologne lingering on his skin.
âLook at you,â you murmur, lips still brushing over his. Letting your hands wander over his face, smoothing his eyebrows, you feel almost in awe of him. Still, he flushes, pleased at your reaction.
âThank you.â
His chuckle is warm, almost raspy as he tries to enjoy the quietness of your conversation, and he shakes his head. Really, you were sure he was thankful that he was been the only one free for your special evening.
âThank you,â you correct him. âYou didnât have to do any of this.â The dinner, for your job.
In the mirror, he looked like diamonds and sapphires and gold. Will was like an action figure sometimes, solid and sculpted and stoic, but⌠he was looking at you like youâd hung the stars in the sky.
It made you blink, his eyes sliding over you, pupils just a little more blown than the lighting required - a gentle reset demanding your attention.
Looking back in the mirror for a moment, the room didnât seem quite as big, or quite as revealing. It was comforting, how out of place the two of you looked, dressed to the nines because⌠this was your place. The softness surrounded by details perfectly woven into your life.
Turning, you slip your arms around his neck, gently musing his hair, and his eyebrows draw together, accepting, but confused.
And as you tuck your hand into his elbow and step into your heels, you resist the urge to thank him again.
âI like it better like this,â you admit, and he flushes again, beaming. Looking around, you realize youâre actually looking forward to coming home more than youâre excited to leave. Itâs a new feeling, in this space with the four of them and it hits you, hard in your chest. Still, the man beside you is unwavering and you let the feeling consume you, knowing that youâre safe.
-
âFrankie, what is that?â
He flinches, nervousness cutting the excitement on his face.
âRhetorical question,â Santi says, grinning at you. âHe got it from a friend who was going to toss it out.â
Itâs a hot tub, taking up a decent chunk of your back porch.
âIf anyone can make it work like a dream, itâs Catfish.â Willâs tone is matter-of-fact, all honesty and pride.
Your sweet Francisco drops his tool and grabs your hand, his dark eyes big. âÂżCariĂąo, por favor? From me, to you?â You can see his laptop up, replacement parts on saved tabs, and you tiptoe to kiss his cheek. He likes to have projects, needs to have somewhere to do things, fix things, create things. Maybe at one point it was because he liked the distraction, it was a ⌠replacement coping mechanism, if you will, but it became his pride, to use his hands to improve your lives.
It doesnât take long, two weeks at most, between his job and his loves, and his long list of honey-dos, but he does it.
âPlease and thank you,â you say, and when he kisses you, slow and deep and happy, you hear cheers and high-five and you almost canât kiss him because heâs smiling.
And it takes awhile to fill, (Will thanking the stars that the water bill is reasonable,) and even longer to heat, and then itâs ready. The boys yank on swim trunks, thanking Frankie with enthusiasm, and you watch them sink into the steaming tub with as they sigh.
You have a bathing suit, of course you do, but you pull on one of his work shirts, knowing he wonât mind the chemicals from the water making the stains blur. And you pair of shorts you caught him watching your butt in, thinking of acknowledging his hard work in your own way.
The volume of your bodies makes it overflow, hot water sloshing onto the ground, but itâs bliss. Itâs big, and they shout over the bubbles, talking excitedly about the future, and your heart feels warm in your favorite way.
The others leave early, taking loud laughter with them, and it leaves you and your Catfish. You let yourself float, moving right on top of him, and his hands grab at your hips, slipping and sliding over your skin as he kisses you once, twice. Slow.
Itâs late â the stars stretch, thereâs a bit of a breeze, and thereâs not a light on for miles.
âYou like it?â his voice is raspy, quiet, intense, but almost shy. Like if you said no it would break him in two.
âOf course I do, Frankie.â He looks pleased, hand absentmindedly running under his shirt and over your side. Even with the heat of the water, his hand feels like socks warmed in the dryer some cold winter morning. Comforting, maybe a little electric.
You let out a long, happy sigh, and settle against him, content to stay with him until youâre pruny.
âI thinkâŚ. This is exactly what this house needed.â He starts a little, surprised, but itâs not an exaggeration.
There was always work to do and things to change, but it was the first time you looked out, and didnât feel a twinge of fear, that anyone was looking in. It wouldâve felt vulnerable, intimate to be so exposed, but⌠it was perfect, because he created it for you. Confidence and pride bubble around you, and Frankieâs eyebrows dip as he smiles â understanding.
-
âYeah.â Its simple, not too hot, not too cold. Just⌠right.
It feels like⌠tar and lava, hot and dark and thick, bubbling and sticky and you want to punch something. Or scream, or cry.
Your Pope finds you standing rigid, smudges of flour on your skin and clothes, pans and spatulas strewn.
âAre we out of sugar?â To your credit, you try to keep your voice even, but he knows you better than that.
Santi shakes his head, plucking it from the pantry and looking guilty. Your mind pauses itâs rampage, and you wince, because you should be the one making that apologetic face, not him. Hot tears bubble in your eyes and you hate it, hate that theyâre coming for what feels like no reason.
âBaby,â he says, tone pleading, setting the sugar down and reaching for you. The afternoon sun makes his eyes like rich, deep pots of gold, his hair somehow both soft and statuesque.
When he pauses, the tears fall against your will, just two thick drops down your cheeks. His hand encompasses your whole jaw, thumb gentle as it rubs away the saltwater, and he looks a tad helpless.
And thereâs understanding in his eyes and through the blur you think maybe itâs pity. He stands, and your heart clenches, knowing heâll go get Will, or someone because youâre being ridiculous but⌠he doesnât.
Youâre saying something about how the kitchen is wrong, how itâs been building for days, youâve been here almost a week and you canât fucking find anything. Panic and frustration locked horns in your chest and you couldnât breathe and all you wanted to do was make something nice â
Instead, heâs pulling out things and piling them onto the floor in categories around you. Itâs almost comical the stacks he makes but he seems determined and in your confusion the tears slow to a stop.
âSanti ââ he hushes you. The cupboard doors hang open, and he guides you, lifting you up and up and into his arms. Itâs solid and grounding, and heâs not as tall as the others and you needed him desperately.
And slowly, you begin to put things away where it makes sense, to you, and he helps. Not once does he argue with you, not even a moment when his dark eyebrows knit together in judgement. Dutifully he cleans and places everything just where you tell him, and you can almost feel the steam rising off of you as you begin to cool.
The final pile is a mountain of cloth, aprons and oven mitts and⌠something youâve never seen before. Or actually, something you had, just not in your house. A set of hand towels youâd wistfully looked at awhile ago, before talking yourself out of the purchase. You had dozens at this point and didnât need more butâŚ
The man seating on the floor, folding them into perfect squares, is the answer to the question your mind produces.
You feel like youâve been hosed down from head to toe, almost cold from the absence of frustration in your blood.
Pushing the pile to the side you climb into his lap, as determined as he was, and he looks surprised. Itâs silly: sitting in your loverâs lap on the kitchen floor, but it feels more real than a movie. Itâs your kitchen, yours and his, in this moment.
You kiss him, slow and purposeful and â
He knows you like the back of his hand.
-
Youâre sitting on the bathroom counter distracting Santi as he shaves when Benny bursts in to tell you a story.
Will trails behind him, patiently waiting for his brother to take a breathe so he can set the record straight. Absentmindedly he weaves between them to pick up a fallen hand towel, passing it to Pope to wipe the shaving cream from his jaw. They share a moment and Bennyâs story stutters out. Looking up from your nails you see Frankie leaning against the doorframe, a toothbrush hanging from his mouth.
Thereâs hardly room to move â and you couldnât have it any other way.
His eyebrows are bent as he takes in the four of you, crammed into the spare bathroom, and Ben laughs.

"Good morning." You said with a enviable morning good humor as soon as you arrived at the complex's kitchen, receiving distracted nods and murmurs from Bucky, Sam, and Natasha. Peter, on the other hand, received your greeting with equal enthusiasm.
"Good morning, Y/N." He replied anxiously, straightening the posture and removing his feet from the chair beside. "Do you want to sit here?" He asked quick and shyly, pretending not to notice Bucky and Sam narrowing their eyes across the table. "I-I mean, it's empty, but you don't have to if you don't want to."
You nodded, accepting the offer before sitting down next to the boy you used to call best friend, frowning as you noticed that your yogurt with granola was already prepared next to a spoon and a glass of milk.
"Did you do that?"
Peter agreed, feeling a warmth rise from his neck to his cheeks.
"Yes, I figured you would be tired after last night."
That answer was enough to capture the attention of the entire kitchen. Steve, who was walking through the door with an empty mug in hand, stopped as soon as he heard the phrase leave Peter's lips, widening his eyes as he struggled not to let the ceramic object hit the floor.
"What?" Bucky asked in astonishment, blinking rapidly as he looked away between you and Peter. "What did you guys do last night?"
You and Peter looked at each other in confusion, but before you could respond, Natasha pointed to your clothes.
"Is that Peter's sweatshirt?"
Steve's pressure seemed to have dropped at this very moment. With trembling hands and flushed cheeks, the soldier sat down on one of the chairs, hiding his face amidst inaudible murmurs.
"Tony already knows this?" Sam asked with his mouth full of cereal, looking at you both with disapproval.
"What should I know?"
Peter swallowed hard when he heard your father's voice, dreading the mischievous smile that grew on Bucky's face.
"That me and Pete spent the whole night watching Star Wars." You were quick to respond, causing Peter to let out a relieved sigh.
"So that's what the kids call it these days?" Steve whispered, looking more shocked by the minute. Natasha patted her friend on the back, offering consolation.
"The Spider-Baby said he made Y/N very tired last night." Bucky, playing the part of the devil on Peter's shoulder, repeated the sentence with slight alteration.
"I didn't say that." The boy with bright curls said in horror, shaking his head frantically as his face turned as red as fresh strawberries. "It wasn't like that, Mr. Stark."
"So explain it to me." Tony demanded with a serious face, crossing his arms over his chest.
The boy became an clumsy mess in a matter of seconds. Bucky, Sam and Natasha holding their own giggling as the comic moment unfolded.
"You don't have to say anything, Pete." You reassured him, understanding your father's intentions. "Let's get away from those perverts. We still have a lot to enjoy this weekend."
You stood up with Peter at your heels, leaving the kitchen under the watchful eyes of the Avengers. Everyone, except Steve, burst out laughing as soon as Tony made sure that you were no longer around, Sam having to wipe away a few tears that had escaped from the corner of his eyes.
"What?" Steve asked confused, staring at the others strangely. "What did I miss?"
"They are so oblivious." Natasha said with a smile, shaking her head negatively.
"It's kind of cute." Tony admitted, shaking his shoulders. "The boy is unable to make a move, however."
"What?" Steve voiced it for the third time in less than three minutes. "They-they- you know; Aren't you angry? Isn't that a move for you?"
"They did nothing, cap." Tony stated between a sigh. "They spent the night watching Star Wars just as Y/N said, believe me."
"But is painfully obvious the Spider-Boy is upside down for her." Sam stated, earning a nod from Tony, Bucky and Natasha. "He was already here when me and Bucky showed up in the morning. He was sitting at the table and Y/N's breakfast was also already prepared. I was about to sit next to himâ and it was the first time I ever considered sitting next to that child, I swear, when he simply put his feet up on the empty chair, saying that he had severe cramps and needed space. When Y/N appeared at the door all smiling and wearing his college sweatshirt, puft, it seems that the boy went out of his mind, and the first thing he did was to offer the seat next to him."
"There was one day that Y/N needed to help Bruce in the lab and was without access to her cell phone for most of the day. Peter and I were working together on his suit, but the boy was picking up the cell phone every two minutes. He sent a message at 04:30 and Y/N didn't answer until at 08:47, so guess what? Peter answered at 08:48." Said Tony.
"The boy was whipped." Bucky uttered between a sip of coffee.
"He and Y/N were sharing a pot of strawberry ice cream during the last movie session." It was Natasha's turn to share a moment between you and Peter, attracting the attention of the men accompanying her, "but there was only one spoon for both."
There was a suggestive exchange of glances between her, Stark, Barnes and Wilson, broken by Rogers' timid and cautious voice.
"So the kids didn't do anything indecent?"
"Oh, for God's sake!" Tony rolled his eyes, leaving the room.
â
It was almost seven in the evening when Peter came into the kitchen again, now with a green mask on his face and a Hello Kitty's patch over his nose.
"What the fuck?" Bucky asked skeptically, almost spitting out the sandwich that was in his mouth.
"Y/N and I are going skin care tonight." Peter replied simply, going over to the refrigerator as everyone watched him intently.
"And what is that on your face?" Natasha asked the question everyone wanted while Peter grabbed a pot of ice cream from the freezer.
"Avocado mask. She saw in TikTok that it is good for the pores."
"So that was the fate of the avocado I bought to eat in the morning." Steve said regretfully. "It's okay, I can buy another one tomorrow."
"I have many questions, but I don't think any answer will answer them." Sam do a grimace before turning to the food laid out on the table.
"Peter, you should ask Y/N out on a date." Thor gave his opinion. "That's what you Midgardians call, right?"
Peter choked with the air as he heard the Thunder God's phrase, almost letting the pot of ice cream slide down the sink.
"W-we go to dates almost every day." He refuted with red face. "Tomorrow we will go to the supermarket. We can buy another avocado for you, Steve."
"But this is not the kind of date we are talking aboâ" Natasha tried to explain, but Peter was already leaving the kitchen practically running.
"Bye, Y/N is waiting me to put cucumbers over the eyes."
"You got only one spoon!" The redhead screamed.
"It's enough!"
The Avengers present exchanged a look of recognition before Thor broke the silence, repeating the question Sam had asked that same morning:
"Tony already knows this?"
Everyone shook their shoulders simultaneously, Bruce being the only one to speak up verbally when silence filled the room.
"I'm sure he's already pulling some strings."
â
"Please, Tony, don't tell me that you are hiding to spying Peter and Y/N."
Tony peeked a bit between the leaves as he heard Pepper's harsh voice, putting the binoculars in the back pocket of his pants as covertly as possible.
"Spying?" He laughed exaggeratedly loudly. "Of course not, dear. This is absurd."
The woman eyed him suspiciously, reaching into her husband's pocket as soon as he hugged her.
"So can you start explaining to me the binoculars, the camouflage clothing, and the presence of a giant plant that was not in the hallway before?"
Tony walked away defeated, lowering his eyes at the judgmental look he was receiving.
"The word "spying" is too strong, okay? Let's say I was watching them without them knowing."
Pepper rolled her eyes.
"They are already adults, Tony. You should let them make their own decisions, and it is pretty obvious that they like each other. I know that the idea of Peter and Y/N dating may be strange to you, butâ"
"Strange?" He almost shouted, lowering his voice when he noticed that the music that used to come from your room had stopped, now putting his camouflage skills at risk. "Baby, I love you, but you are crazy." He whispered. "Peter is the only boy who deserves to be with someone like Y/N, and all I have been doing for the past seven months is trying to get them to confess the feelings that everyone knows exist, but they seem too blind to see. So far I remain with the verdict that the boy is right for her and I hope don't change my mind anytime soon. They are my OTP."
"OTP?" Pepper asked confused by the slang.
"One True Pairing. Honey, you are so out of date."
"All right, I'm leaving."
Tony arched an eyebrow as he watched his wife walk away and take the binoculars, shrugging his shoulders before hiding behind the leaves again. He spent almost two hours there, but nothing interesting had happened, just you and Peter going back and forth from the kitchen with greasy foods and ice cream, a spoon for two as you shared whatever it was in the aisles, sometimes even taking it into each other's mouths, making Tony look away from those nauseatingly sweet scenes.
He had a story appointment with Morgan and his presence in the little girl's room at nine was a must. The plan affectionately called "Project Starker" had failed that day, and Tony had to accept defeat as he went to your room, expecting to find you and Peter sprawled out on the bed while some nerdy movie was playing on TV.
"Y/N? Peter?"
The room was dark, lit only by adjacent lights coming through the window. Tony stumbled over a few objects along the way, walking blindly through the furniture until he was near your bed.
"Can you even see each other here? God, howâ"
Tony had to interrupt the sentence, surprised to see you and Peter snuggled up to each other, sleeping peacefully while a current series he didn't know the name of played on the TV at an almost inaudible volume. He shook his head in denial, holding back a smile before nudging Peter's waist, forging an angry timbre:
"Kid, you have a room here for a reason. What are you doing in my daughter's bed?"
Peter blinked a few times, completely lost and surprised by Tony's presence.
"Mr. Stark?" He asked stunned, trying to see Tony through the shadows. "Why are you here?"
Your father raised one of his eyebrows, aghast at the sudden boldness of the teenager before remembering the younger man's sleepwalking habits. Peter probably thought he was dreaming or some shit.
"Why are you here?" Tony returned the question, crossing his arms.
"Because I'm in love with Y/N and I want to sleep next to her."
Tony opened his mouth like a goldfish, cursing himself mentally for not recording that statement, shaking Peter's body when he started to close his eyes again.
"Aren't you going to your room?"
Peter mumbled something indecipherable, tightening his arms around your body as you continued to sleep heavily on his chest.
"No, thanks for the offer."
Tony nodded to nothing, deciding to just close your curtain and ask to Friday to turn off the TV.
"Thank you for doing Y/N too, Mr. Stark. I appreciate that."
Tony laughed softly, promising himself that he would tease the boy about it the next morning, âGo to sleep, kid. I'm sure no one will leave you alone tomorrow after I tell what you said."
Stark was about to leave when he noticed Peter's feet sticking out of the covers. The night was cold, and there was nothing but a thin comforter protecting the two of you.
"Just one blanket?" He asked.
"Yes." Peter kind of whispered, pulling you closer. "It's enough."
This time Tony didn't hold back his smile, shaking his head before closing the door, leaving you and Peter in that little bubble of teenage passion.
"Point for you, Spider-Boy."

Does He Know ~ Matthew TkachukÂ
Summary: Your new relationship will never compare to the relationship you had with Matt and you and Matt both know it.Â
Word Count: ~6k
Warnings: Language, alcohol consumption, references to anxietyÂ
A/N: Thereâs usage of bold and italics to reference timeframe changes, hopefully they make sense! Everything in italics are flashbacks.Â
âThis one is cute,â you say to Adam, showing him a picture a stranger had offered to take of you two while you were out walking through a local park. Adam with his arms wrapped around you, you looking up into his eyes. It was candid, the ones that followed were with one of his arms around your waist, both of you with plastered smiles.Â
âIt is,â he hums in agreement, barely peeling his eyes off his video game to look. âYou going to post that on your Instagram?â
Adam had made comments here and there about how you never posted with him. When you got together you still had plenty of pictures with Matthew. You still had a few up, not bringing yourself to delete all the memories of Matthew from your social media. Matthew. You knew you were still in love with him.
You had been with him for almost four years. You were so completely and wholly in love with him. Nothing bad had happened to end things, nothing to make it easier to end that relationship. When you got together with Adam eight months after the breakup with Matt your friends and family accepted it, believing easily that you were over Matt. But you truly wondered how they could assume that when you had spent so long entirely wrapped up in your love with Matt.Â
But the comments had started getting to you. From your friends. From your family. Matthewâs career was unpredictable. You never knew what was going to happen with him. They would ask about him getting traded. And you were confident that wouldnât happen for the time being, but what if it did? How could you settle down with someone who could be moved across the country, or to a new country, just like that? For a career that was entirely unpredictable as well. He could get hurt and his career could be over just like that. It was a short career at that, and then what?Â
You were still young, you always brought that up. But you had let it wear you down to the point of becoming more and more distant with Matt. Your mind was constantly full of worries. You started to wonder if they were right. Would it be safer and easier to settle down with someone who had a stable, traditional career?Â
So you ended it with Matt, through shaky sobs on your couch. And then you ended up in his arms, crying for an absurd about of time over a breakup you were initiating. He tried to change your mind, tried to convince you that he would always be there for you, that whatever happened you two could figure it outâŚtogether. But you had already told your parents that you were ending things with him and you felt like you couldnât back out of it now.Â
You were trying so hard to move on from him with Adam. But it never felt the same. It had been three months and you couldnât even begin to compare it to your relationship with Matt. From the very beginning with Matt you knew it was different, you had a spark that you didnât have with Adam.Â
âYeah, I guess,â you mutter, opening Instagram. You post it quickly, before giving yourself too much time to think about it, to reconsider.Â
The next morning you wake up to your phone vibrating on your bed beside you and youâre barely awake but you answer it immediately after seeing Mattâs name on your screen. âMatt?â You whisper groggily as you sit up in your bed, rubbing your eyes.Â
âYou have a boyfriend?â
âNo,â you reply quickly, not awake or alert enough to realize what you were saying. âI mean, yes, yeah, I guess I do.â
âYou guess? What does that mean?â
âI donât knowâŚnothing. I just, yeah, I have a boyfriend.â
âDoes he make you happy?â
Youâre caught off guard by the question, silent for a few seconds too long. âYeah, I think so.â
âHe doesnât know you like I do, Y/N.â
âMatt,â you whisper, pulling your knees to your chest, tears welling in your eyes.Â
âDoes he know what kind of chapstick you use and that you canât go anywhere without it?â
âIâm hereâ
You were spending the entire day with Matt. It was one of the few days he was both back in Calgary and had a full day off during the hockey season. Hurrying down the stairs of your apartment building you hop into his car, eagerly leaning over and pressing a kiss to his lips.Â
âHi,â he chuckles, kissing you again before leaning back into his seat and pulling away from the curb. âBreakfast?â
âYes, please,â you say, pulling on your seatbelt. Leaning forward you grab your purse, rifling through it for a minute before sighing loudly. âMatt,â you say in a sing-song tone, an obvious indication that you were about to ask for something.Â
âWhat?â He asks, glancing over at you with a knowing smile.Â
âCan we go back?â
âWhy? What did you forget?â He laughs.Â
âMy chapstick.â
Reaching beside him Matt opens the console, taking his eyes off the road for only a second before picking up a small tube of chapstick, extending it towards you. Your eyes focus on the small object before reaching over and taking it, turning it over and over again in your had. It was the exact kind you used. Tinted cherry chapstick. You couldnât imagine Matt would be willingly using a tinted chapstick.Â
âThatâs the right one, right?â Matt asks, glancing over at you.Â
âYes,â you comment, pulling the lid off and swiping on a layer. âWhere did it come from? Did I leave it in here?â
Matt chuckles, shaking his head. âI bought itâŚin case you forgot yours.â
You can feel your heart swell with happiness and appreciation for Matt, never thinking chapstick could mean so much.Â
âDoes he know that you bite your nails when you get nervous?"
âYou okay?âÂ
Glancing up you look at Matt, standing in the doorway of your living room. âFine,â you reply, looking back down at your computer and twelfth âcommon job interviewâ website you had scrolled through that morning.Â
âYou just painted them,â Matt comments gesturing to your nails as he walks over and sits down on the couch beside you. You had spent the morning getting ready for a job interview. Painting your nails, doing your hair and makeup, picking an outfit.Â
Glancing down at your hands you realize you had been biting your nails again, sighing softly. âItâs a bad habit,â you mutter, eyes trained on the computer screen again.Â
âI think youâre more than prepared. Maybe you should give it a break,â Matt suggests, watching you contemplate it before you slowly reach over to shut your computer.Â
âYouâre right,â you agree, setting your laptop down and leaning back on the couch. Itâs only a couple seconds before youâre back to rehearsing answers in your head, brining your thumb towards your mouth. But Matthew catches it on the way, holding your hand gently as he brings it to rest on his thigh, fingers folded between yours. Â
âSay them out loud,â Matt suggests.Â
So the two of you sit there on the couch, rehearsing job interview questions while Matt holds both your hands. He made reassuring comments, letting you know how smart and put together you sounded. He didnât have the most constructive criticism to give, having limited job interview experience. But having him listen was helpful enough. And when you left for your interview an hour later you made a promise to leave your nails alone and to take a deep breath before meeting with your interviewer. When you first met Matt you never would have assumed he would be be such a major part of helping you deal with your anxiety, but you were so incredibly grateful for that. Especially when you got the job, knowing it was Matt who helped you stay calm enough to get through the interview.Â
âDoes he know that you have to fall asleep every night to Parks and Recreation playing?â
Curling into your bed you reach for the remote, turning on your TV and quickly navigating through Netflix to your recently watched category, Parks and Rec front and centre. Starting it you lay down next to Matthew, the remote landing somewhere amongst the layers of blankets on your bed. But before you even have the chance to watch any of the show youâve rolled onto your side, away from the TV.Â
Matthew lays there, propped up with a few pillows with the full intention of watching the show. He stares at you with furrowed eyebrows for a second before saying anything. âI thought you wanted to watch this?â
âHm?â You hum, glancing over your shoulder at him. âNo, I told you I wanted to go to bed.â
Matthew gestures towards the TV. âWhy did you put this on then?â He presses his hand into your shoulder, rolling you over onto your back so you were looking up at him.Â
âI need it to fall asleep to,â you tell him, giggling at how perplexed he was by the whole situation. It was the first time Matt was spending the night that wasnât the result of you two having sex first, just spending the night because you didnât want to be apart, even when you were just sleeping.Â
Matthew looks to the TV for a second before turning his head to look back down at you. âLike, just the TV or Parks and Recreation in particular.â
Laughing you roll over completely onto your stomach, arm draped over Matthewâs body as you rest your head on his chest. âParks and Rec in particular.â
âThatâsâŚweird,â Matthew chuckles, running his hand along your back.Â
âGoodnight, Matt,â you whisper, eyes fluttering shut. âAlso, youâre the weird one.â
âDoes he know how you take your coffee? And how it changes depending on the place you go?â
âThank you,â you say happily as Matthew hands you a mug of freshly brewed coffee. You were curled up on the couch, working on a school assignment that was due in a few hours. You were intending to finish it the night before but Matt had texted, asking if he could come over. He promised not to distract you from it but an hour after he arrived you were sprawled on your bed, a naked mess as Matt took away all of the stress for your school work.
âI still canât believe you drink your coffee black,â he comments, nose crinkled as he drops down onto the other side of the couch, pulling his phone out.Â
Laughing you bring it to your lips, taking a sip. âNot always,â you point out, eyes fixed on your laptop screen as you read through the work you had always finished.Â
âExtra hot vanilla latte with non-fat milk,â Matt says, not even needing a moment to think about it.Â
âUnless,â you begin, smiling as you glance up over the top of your laptop to where Matt was sitting.Â
âItâs hot out, then you get a double shot on ice from Starbucks with caramel syrup instead of classic.â
You giggle quietly, staring at Matt with a soft smile, your eyes filled with admiration. Because you couldnât get over how much you loved him. How he remembered the little things, would go out of his way to bring you things you liked to surprise you.Â
âDoes he know about the scar on your knee and the story of how you got it?â
You were stretched out on a patio sofa in Mattâs parentâs backyard. It was sunny and almost excruciatingly hot. You had gone back with him for a week in the summer. Of course you didnât have an off season. You would have to go home to Calgary to continue on with your life. But for one week you were enjoying being there with him, with his family, hearing all about his childhood and thanks to his siblings, that included the embarrassing stuff. In a couple months you would be celebrating your one year anniversary and you were so content and happy with Matt.Â
Matt was sitting beside you, your legs stretched over his as he runs his fingers up and down your bare legs, his phone in his spare hand while you were halfway through a novel. âWhatâs this one from?â
Lowering your book you look at Matt over the top of it. âHmm?â Your eyes fall to where his thumb was running over a scar along your knee. âOh,â you comment, realizing what he was asking as you set your book to the side. âWhen I was ten I was playing in the forest with my best friend and her brother. We found a creek and her brother thought it would be funny to pretend to push me over the embankment into it but I actually fell and bashed my leg on one of the rocks on the way down.â
âWhat an asshole,â Matt comments, thumb still absentmindedly brushing over it.Â
âHe was twelve and didnât actually think I would fall,â you say, defending him.Â
âStill an asshole.â
âI still talk to himâŚwould you like to tell him that yourself?â You joke.Â
âYeah, Iâll push him down an embankment for you.â
Laughing you roll your eyes. âHeâs literally the nicest guy, doesnât deserve that.â
âHeâs the nicest guy?â Matt asks, eyebrows raised.Â
Giggling you reach over, grabbing Mattâs hand. âYouâre a close second,â you tease.Â
Matt shakes his head, bringing your hand to his lips and pressing them to the back of your hand. âGuess I have to step it up.â
âDoes he know your favourite dessert and how to make it just right?â
âItâs so great to finally meet you, Matthew,â your grandmother says, reaching her arms up to pull Matt into a hug. Her short, small stature made the hug almost comical, like a child compared to Matt. âWeâve heard so much about you.â
âItâs really nice to meet you too. Thank you so much for having me over for dinner,â Matt replies.Â
It was Thanksgiving Day and you had invited Matt to your grandparentâs house for dinner. The majority of your family was going to be there and you could tell there was a bit of hesitation from Matt, nerves. But you assured him that they would all love him and he seemed to calm down at little. And how could they not love him? He made you happier than you had ever been with another person, they could all simply see it. Not to mention how you never stopped talking about Matt and how great he was.Â
âOf course, youâre always welcome here for dinner, holiday or not,â your grandma tells him, staring up at his face for a second, shamelessly inspecting him. âHe really is as cute as you said,â she states, directing the comment at you.Â
âNana,â you groan, shaking your head as you walk over and pull her into a hug. âYouâre going to inflate his ego too much.â
Your grandma simply laughs, pulling back to look up at you this time. She pats your cheek gently, wide smile on her face. âWell you needed to find someone just a fraction of how beautiful you are to be able to keep up with you.â
Laughing you glance over at Matt, smiling softly. He was a lot more than a fraction of how attractive you were. But you did appreciate your grandmaâs attempt at levelling out his ego again. âDo you need some help in the kitchen?â You offer, knowing that even if she were to get you to help it would be with the simplest tasks, very protective over her meals.Â
âNo, no. You two go join everyone else in the living room. Iâm quite alright in here.â
âAre you sure?â You ask again, knowing sometimes it was just her nature to take on too much. âDid you make that apple crumble you always make?â
âYes, Iâm fine,â she assures you. âAnd of course I did, I know itâs your favourite.â
âSheâs been talking about this apple crumble for a week now,â Matt chimes in, making your grandma laugh.Â
âItâs really good,â you comment, double checking with your grandma once again that she didnât need help before heading into the living room with Matt to see everyone else.Â
After a couple more hours of hanging out with your family, everyone getting to know Matt more than they had before, you head into the dining room for dinner. Of course everything was incredible, a ridiculous amount of food spread out on the table. But it was your grandmotherâs nature, to provide so much more than was necessary and then send everyone home with enough leftovers to feed everyone for a week.Â
Once dinner was over you were in the kitchen, everyone helping clean up. Your grandma had finally moved to the living room, trusting everyone to at least clean up correctly. Matt had helped for awhile before disappearing sometime between packing up the the leftovers and doing the dishes. You hadnât noticed, too preoccupied with cleaning and talking to your family, till your mom pointed out his absence.Â
âTrying to get out of working,â you joke, drying your hands on the towel that was hanging over the oven door handle. Walking into the living room you find Matt sitting beside your grandma, discussing something that clearly made your grandma happy, a big smile on her face, eyes twinkling. âWhat are you two up to?â
Matt looks over, reaching for your hand as you get closer and gently pulling you onto the couch beside him. âIâm just hearing all your embarrassing childhood stories.â
âOh, good,â you laugh, leaning into his side, head resting on his shoulder.Â
âYou picked a good one,â your grandma tells you and you turn your head to look up at Matt.Â
âI know,â you say softly, squeezing Mattâs hand.Â
Later that night you head home with an overwhelming sense of comfort. Matt was slowly becoming more and more a part of your life. You knew each otherâs families. You were practically living together, inseparable when you neither of you were busy.Â
What you didnât realize until much later was that Matt had snuck away from the rest of the family after dinner to ask your grandma if he could have the recipe for the apple crumble. Because it was your favourite and he wanted to be able to surprise you with it. So your grandma happily agreed, rattling it off out of memory while Matt made frantic notes on his phone about the ingredients and the exact way to prepare and all the tips and tricks your grandma gave him.Â
And when you showed up at Mattâs apartment one afternoon two months later you could smell the familiar smell immediately. You were so caught off guard by the simple act of Matt trying to do that for you that you didnât even care that he had burnt it, just a little.
âDoes he know that you have a playlist that you listen to when youâre sad?â
âHey babe,â Matt says through the phone, voice gentle and quiet. Matt was on the road for a stretch of games. You knew it was his job, you couldnât complain about it. But after a hard day you just wished you could be with your boyfriend. However, you hadnât told him about your terrible day, the stress of school on top of a bad day at work. You didnât want him to worry. And it wasnât like you didnât call each other all the time, but the way he was greeting you was like he somehow knew something was wrong.Â
âHi,â you whisper, your eyes suddenly welling with tears.Â
âHow was your day? Everything okay?âÂ
âNot great,â you whisper, wiping at your eyes. âHow did you know?â
âYour SpotifyâŚI can see what my friends are listening to.â
You canât help but laugh quietly, tuning into the song that was currently playing over the speaker in your apartment. Shelter from the Storm by Joshua Hyslop. Your playlist with the crying emoji. There was no denying it.Â
âGuess I need to use the private session function next time.â
âWhat? No. Babe, I want to know whatâs going on. Whatâs wrong?â Matt asks, his tone very clearly worried. Exactly what you didnât want to happen. You didnât want to burden him with your bad days.Â
âIt was just a bad day, itâs not a big deal. Tomorrow will be better,â you assure him, curling up further into yourself on the couch.Â
Matt is silent for a second, just the sound of a muffled TV playing in the background. âWhy wonât you tell me?â
âBecause itâs nothing major, I donât want you to have to worry about my issues.â
âYouâre my girlfriend, Y/N. I love you. I want to know when youâre having a bad day, I want to hear about it. Donât push me away.â
Your eyes flood with tears again, slipping down your cheeks quicker now. Not even because you were that sad about your day. But because you were so overwhelmed with emotions. So grateful to have Matt in your life, so happy to have someone that you you could not just simply rely on but who wants you to rely on them, who wants to be there for you.Â
âDoes he know that the taste of tequila reminds you of you freshman year of university and that it seems to get you drunker than any other alcohol?â
The Flames had just had a massive win, Matt scoring two goals in the game and was on another level. You had gone down to see him after the game and before you even got a word out he had his arms around your waist, lifting you off your feet and spinning around with you in his arms.Â
âCongratulations, bub,â you whisper into his ear, giggling as you clutch onto him.Â
âYouâre coming for drinks with us tonight, right?â Matt asks, finally letting you plant your feet back on the ground.Â
âI guess,â you laugh, leaning up and pressing your lips to his for a quick, gentle kiss. But before you know it he has his hands on your hips, keeping you close as he deepens the kiss. âMatt,â you whisper, pulling back a little. âWeâre in public.â
âRight,â he chuckles, pulling away a tiny bit. âI love you so much, Iâm so happy you were able to come to the game tonight.â
His excitement makes you laugh, your hands sliding down his arms to clutch both his hands in yours. âI love you too and you know Iâm going to be at every game I canâŚalways.âÂ
A few hours later youâre standing a the bar in a crowded nightclub, Matt standing behind you with his arms wrapped around your waist. Noah and Johnny were standing next to you and Matt, laughing about something that happened during the game.Â
The bartender stops in front of your group, asking for orders. âFour tequila shots,â Noah says, taking the reins for everyone.Â
Matthew chuckles from behind you as he hears the word tequila, knowing your stories about tequila in university. âOh no.â you whine, tipping your head back onto Mattâs shoulder.Â
Four tequila shots are set onto the counter in front of you guys and Matt reaches over to grab one for himself, Johnny and Noah taking theirs as well. Pulling away from Matt you turn to face the little circle the four of you had made. Reaching over you go to take the shot off the bar, pulling back and then reaching for it again, repeating the process a couple more times.Â
âWhatâs she doing?â Noah asks, glancing at Matt as the three of them watch you extend your hand toward the shot before hesitating again and again.Â
Matt laughs, his hand still resting on your hip. âHyping herself up.â
âI donât want to,â you laugh, finally picking up the shot.Â
âDonât turn down my gift to you,â Noah laughs and the four of you cheers before downing your shots. The liquid burns and sends a shiver through your body as you wince.Â
âTastes like getting blackout drunk,â you comment, setting the tiny, empty glass back onto the counter.Â
And Noah doesnât let you off the hook, buying you a few more tequila shots throughout the night. When you leave the bar that night both you and Matt are stumbling, giggling messes, climbing clumsily into the back of an Uber and ending up back at your apartment. Despite the pounding headache and vague nausea the next morning you had to admit that the night was beyond worth it.Â
âDoes he know about your fear of parking in parkades?â
You had circled the block four times already, looking for a place to park in the busy downtown block. It was a beautiful summer day, you really should have anticipated that it would be this busy.Â
âOh, letâs just park in there,â Matt suggests, pointing to the public parking parkade just down the road.Â
You can feel your heart speed up a little, your palms sweating at the thought of pulling into the parkade. âIâm sure weâll find something out here.â
Matthew chuckles, glancing over at you. âWhy? It clearly says thereâs still like one hundred parking spots in there.â
âI just donât want to, okay?â You snap, grip tightening on the steering wheel. You were suddenly regretting offering to drive. Typically you enjoyed driving, but now you wanted to press rewind and just get in the passengerâs seat instead.Â
âWoah, okay,â Matt mumbles, wide eyes focused on you, trying to figure out where your sudden outburst came from. âWhatâs going on?â
âI justâŚthey just give me anxiety. Theyâre so cramped and dark and people come speeding around the corner and I-.â
âPull over here,â Matt tells you, pointing towards an empty spot along the curb a few feet ahead of you.Â
âWhat? We canât park there, it clearly says no parking.â
âWeâre not parking, just pull over for a second, okay?â
Doing as he says you pull up along the curb, shifting the car into park and glancing over at Matt. But he was already getting out, jogging around the front of your car to your door. You realize whatâs going on when he pulls your door open and you climb out of the car, standing in front of him. âI love you,â you blurt out.Â
It was the first time you said it. And the timing was terrible, standing on the side of the street parked in a no-parking space. But you meant it. He hadnât questioned your irrational fear, hadnât laughed or made you feel bad about it. He accepted it and found a solution without making a big deal about it.Â
âDoes he know that you want to have three kids and a golden retriever when you get older?â
You lay on the blanket beside Matt, the empty bottle of wine laying beside you along with the remnants of your picnic dinner. His arm was behind you, your head on his bicep. The sky above you is clear and dark, speckled with bright stars. You and Matt had walked to the lookout at the park down the road from your apartment, the one you had talked about wanting to go to so many times since you moved there but never got around to. You had lived in that apartment for almost three years, it was time. He brought wine and a charcuterie board which you were incredibly impressed with, even if he bought it already made from the grocery store.Â
âThe world is crazy,â you whisper, fiddling with Mattâs fingers, his arm draped over his stomach, hand resting on your torso.Â
âWhat do you mean?â
âI donât know, likeâŚthe universe is so huge and thereâs so many people on earth and likeâŚweâre so insignificant. But we still all have all these big dreams and life plans that seem so massive and important.â
âHeavy thoughts.â Matt chuckles quietly, turning his head to the side to look at you. âWhat are yours?â
âWhat?â You whisper, turning your head to look at him, nose to nose with him now.Â
âYour big life plans.âÂ
Looking back up at the stars you take a deep breath. âI want to get my degree and start a career. Get married, buy a house in a nice neighbourhood. I want to get a dogâŚa golden retriever. Start a familyâŚthreeâŚI want three kids.â
âThree?â Matt chimes in, sounding surprised.Â
Rolling onto your side you look down at Matt, his hand falling to your waist. âYou have two siblings,â you point out.
âAnd I didnât have to raise usâŚthank god,â Matt chuckles.Â
âI think you could handle it,â you tell him, running your fingers along his chest. âI think youâre going to be a great dad one day.â
âMaybe,â Matt whispers, tugging you a little closer. âIf itâs you Iâm having kids with.â
âShould we go back to my apartment and practice?â
âPractice?â Matt asks, eyebrows furrowed.Â
âMaking babies, we need to have it perfected for when we have to bring three of them into the world.â
Matt chuckles, sitting up with comedic speed. âI kinda thought we were already pretty good at that but not going to say no to more practice.â
âMore than pretty good,â you tell him, letting him grab your hands and help you to your feet. And the two of you hurry back to your apartment like excited school kids, not once taking your hands off each other, giggling the entire way.
âDoes he know that you have a secret Pinterest board full of wedding ideas?â
Laying on the couch in your living room you wait for Matt to get out of the shower. Matt still had his own apartment, living with a roommate. But he spent more nights at your house than he did at his own, a section of your closet and a few drawers of your dresser now his.Â
You click on a picture from the screen full of them, a beautiful wedding gown filling your screen a moment later. Tapping quickly you pin it to your wedding Pinterest board. A board that nobody knew about because a part of you was deeply embarrassed about it, about how much thought youâve put into a future wedding.Â
âWhatâs that?âÂ
Quickly slamming your laptop shut you whirl around to look up at Matt, his hair still damp from the shower, smelling like the cologne you loved. âYou scared me, I thought you would take longer.â
âI feel like I should be suspicious of that reaction but it didnât really look like something I should be suspicious aboutâŚUnless you have a secret fiancĂŠ youâre planning a wedding with.â
Rolling your eyes playfully you pull your knees to your chest, your laptop coming with it. âItâs nothing.â
âWas it a wedding dress?â Matt asks, plopping down onto the couch beside you.Â
Groaning dramatically you pivot to face the same direction as him, tossing one of your legs over his thigh as you scoot closer, opening your laptop again and facing it towards him.Â
âOh, wow,â Matt mumbles under his breath as he scrolls through the Pinterest board. âThis is a lot more than just a wedding dress.â
âItâs embarrassing,â you whine. âStop scrolling,â you giggle, swatting his hand away from the keyboard.Â
âIs it a hint?â Matt asks, chuckling as he turns to look at you.Â
âWhat? No,â you exclaim, laughing. But it wasnât the craziest thing he could have said. You two had been together for over two years. You were so in love with Matt, it felt impossible for you to love him more than you already did and yet everyday you seemed to fall more in love with him. âMatt, Iâve had that dumb Pinterest board since before I even met you.â
âWell at least we wonât have to spend too much time planning in the future, youâve already figured it all out.â
âWho said Iâm going to marry you?âÂ
Matt scoffs, shaking his head as he sets your laptop aside. âWeâre made for each other.â
Smiling you lean over, kissing him gently. âYeah, we are,â you whisper.Â
By the time Matt finishes talking tears are streaming down your cheeks, dripping off your face and onto the blankets of your bed. âI still love you,â you blurt out before you even realize what youâre saying.Â
âI still love you too, Y/N. I donât think thatâll ever change.â
âAre you in town?â You croak, wiping at your cheeks. You knew you shouldnât be doing this. You ended things with Matt. You had a new boyfriend. Everything about this was wrong. But you were confused and sad and didnât know what else to do.Â
âYes,â Matt replies without hesitation.Â
âCan you come over?âÂ
âIâll be there in fifteen.â
Pulling yourself out of bed you pull on some pyjama shorts, going to the bathroom to brush your teeth and hair, trying to look a little presentable. Before you knew it there was knock on your door. Hurrying to it you pull the door open, glassy eyes locking with Mattâs a moment later. You can only keep your composure for a second before you have your arms around him, tears rolling down your cheeks again. Matt wraps his arms around your waist, stepping inside and letting the door fall shut behind you two. His embrace feels comfortable, it feels like home. âI missed you,â you whisper, muffled by your face being buried in the soft fabric of his hoodie.Â
âI missed you too, babe.â Matt replies, running his hand along your back soothingly. âWhatâs his name?â
And just like that reality comes crashing back to you and you slowly pull away from Matt, reluctantly taking your hands off of him. Because you knew this was all incredibly wrong. âUmâŚA-Adam.â
Matt nods slowly, reaching over and brushing a tear off your cheek with his thumb. âHow long have you two beenâŚtogether?â
âA few monthsâŚnot long, itâs not serious.â You fidget with the sleeve of the sweater you had pulled on, the fabric damp from wiping at the tears that hadnât stopped falling since your first call with Matt that morning. âWhat about you, have you been, uh, like, seeing anyone?â Even saying the words out loud felt like someone punched you in the stomach.Â
âNo,â Matt admits quickly. âIâm still in love with you. I canât.â
You feel a wash of guilt when Matt says that. Because you were still in love with Matt. You were just dragging Adam along, hoping that he would be the one to change your feelings towards Matt. You knew it wasnât fair to him. None of this was fair to Adam. âI donât know what to do, Matt.â
âI canât tell you what to do,â Matt says gently.Â
âI need you to,â you croak, reaching up and wiping away some more tears. Your under-eyes were irritated from the fabric of your sweater, stinging and red.Â
âI canât,â Matt mutters, moving towards you, hands extended to pull you into him before he stops, pausing and pulling back. âI canât,â he repeats, this time not about telling you what to do. But about touching you, being there for you like that, crossing the boundaries when he knew you were seeing someone else.Â
âI wish I could take it back.â
âWhat?â
âEnding things with you.â
âMe too,â Matt agrees, eyes focused on you even though you could barely hold eye contact with him.Â
âIf I end things with AdamâŚ,â you begin, trailing off as you stare down at the ground. âCould weâŚâ
âFigure things out from there?â Matt asks, filling in your sentence with his own thoughts.Â
Of course you hadnât expected him to immediately suggest getting back together. There was a level of trust you had broken when you ended things that would need repairing. But you were willing to put in the work for that, take that risk.Â
âIâd like that.â
Matt smiles softly, reaching forward and pulling you into a hug. Itâs careful and tentative, like heâs still worried about crossing a line despite you telling him you were going to end things with Adam. âMe too,â Matt whispers, holding you close with no indication that he was going to let go anytime soon.Â

Panic settled in the room as Seonghwa's words echoed in your heads. Yunho was dead, Mingi disappeared, San wasn't waking up and the body was gone.
And meanwhile, you were getting railed in Seonghwa's office. You felt sick to your stomach, not knowing what to do, or where to even start.
"Someone say something!" Jongho yelled, at the top of his lungs, finally breaking his calm character.
The silence in the room was heavy and you suddenly felt as if you couldn't breathe, as if someone was gripping your throat from the inside. As if on cue, San groaned and his eyes fluttered open.
"What the fuck?..." He groaned, as he sat up straight with the help of one hand.
San rubbed the back of his head with his other hand, hissing as he moved it up and down slowly.
You and Seonghwa ran towards him and knelt beside the man.
"San what happened!?"
San sat against the sofa, feeling too sick and too dizzy to sit up straight on his own. He took a couple of breathsm trying to recollect what happened before he blacked out.
"There really isn't much to say, right after Y/N left Mingi asked me to get him something from the kitchen and when I came back someone, I'm assuming Mingi, hit me with something in the back of the head. Next thing I know I'm waking up next to Jongho."
Seonghwa stood up, visibly stressed and irritated.
"Y/N I- I can't take this anymore. I'm tired, I'm stressed out, I wake up, go to sleep and go through the day stressed but I try to keep calm and be reasobale but I just can't anymore! I need to rest, I need time!" Jongho said.
His voice was shaky, his face was red and his eyes were desperate and tired. He had huge bags under his eyes, and he looked as if he wanted to cry, but was too tired to do so.
"I... I know. I know what you're feeling because I'm feeling it too, but the body is gone, and you know that if the body is found we'll all be questioned by the police and if he turns himself in he will also be questioned by the police and we both know that in either case they will be asking questions. The body is decomposing! They'll start asking why he didn't come right away, what happened between the murder and the confession, and it doesn't take much for Mingi to break! If he goes down he'll bring us with him!"
Your voice was unstable from crying, and you, just like every other person in the group, regretted helping Mingi. You should have stayed mad at him. You shouldn't have babied him and helped him cover up a murder. But it was too late, friendship and compassion won over you as if you were in a kid's cartoon where the power of friendship could overcome anything. But it didn't.
"Each of you get in one of my cars. We're splitting up and looking for him. Keys are in the ignition, let's go. The sooner we find him, the sooner it will all be over."
Seonghwa turned his back and started walking towards the garage, giving them no time to oppose themselves to the plan, or to complain at all.
Four motors roared in the garage as each of them left in their respective car to look around. He couldn't have gone very far, it had only been a couple hours and Mingi had no car and no money for a cab.
It was becoming increasingly hard for San to throw off Wooyoung. They had been spending a lot of time together and these past few days he had barely talked to the younger boy, making the latter suspicious that either San had gotten tired of him, or that he had found someone else. Either way Wooyoung was panicking and constantly blowing up San's phone, which was just the cherry on top. After the 10th ding sounded from his phone, San pulled over for a second and called Wooyoung.
"Heeey Woo." He said, trying to sound as sweet as possible.
"San what's happening? Please tell me if you're getting tired of me... Don't give me any hopes, because I really like you."
"What? No Wooyoung, I like you, like... a lot. Really. But I've just been busy with consoling Y/N, and there was a bunch of issues in some paperwork from my part-time job so I had to work on that as well, it's just been a very tiring couple of days, I'm sorry... Can I get back to you once I'm done? I need a little rest."
As far as Wooyoung knew you were still upset at Mingi.
"Alright fine, but I expect a nice homemade dinner once you're free."
"Of course baby."
San hung up with a sigh, relieved that he bought his excuses, and started the engine once more, resuming his search.
San was driving around the town, searching places with fewer people and hidden spots where rarely anybody went to. He ended up in a couple bad neighborhoods, which in retrospect it wasn't very smart since he was riding a Rolls Royce, but they hadn't been making good choices the past few days. Seonghwa headed back to the cabin where they had found the body, you searched every bridge and police station and Jongho went to his apartment.
It was minute 12 of driving around when you received a call. It was a group call with everyone involved.
"The body is back in the cabin. It's covered with all the leaves and shit we put here."
"Don't touch it, get out of there for now. I'm still trying to get to his house, anyone got anything?"
Jongho's question was met with a bunch of no's.
"Well I'm almost at his house and I can see- oh my God. I found him. I found him he's standing on a balcony and I think he's gonna jump everyone get here!"
Jongho hung up and you told Seonghwa the address. Thankfully you were close by and got there in no time. Jongho sprinted up the stairs and by the time you and San got to the house he was trying to talk Mingi out of it. Mingi was standing on the edge of his balcony, on the other side of the railing, but still holding onto it. Jongho was crying and begging Mingi to come to his senses and to come back inside, as he gripped his arm.
"It's no use Jongho, just let me go! This is not up to you!"
You and San got up to the balcony as well, trying to talk Mingi out of it.
"Mingi please! We'll get through this I'm begging you, we can't lose you too!" You yelled.
You wanted to stay composed but you couldn't help the tears streaming down your face. Even Jongho, who was usually very uncomfortable displaying his emotions, was crying and begging.
When Seonghwa got to the scene, he was terrified. He didn't know what to do, which was a common thing throughout the past few days, and it was killing him.
Everyone was pulling on Mingi's left side, trying to pull him up along with Jongho, so, without anyone noticing, he jumped outside the railing, and slowly walked towards Mingi without him noticing either.
Once he was close enough, he grabbed the man and pulled him up and over the railing, while holding himself stable with one hand on said railing.
However, Mingi's selfishness was bigger, and in the end, he showed that no matter what other people did for him, he was going to put himself first.
Mingi was mad, he thought his friends were being selfish and had no say in the matter, so while being saved, while going over the railing back into his house, he kicked it away with all the strength in his body, making him fall back.
Seonghwa, who was holding onto Mingi, failed to grip the railing harder and fell with Mingi, looking into your sad, panic-filled eyes as he fell to his death.
You bent over and watched the man you loved fall, in what felt like slow motion. His body hit the ground, and with an ugly cracking noise, Seonghwa's head split open.
You sprinted down the stairs, and once you got down to the ground people were circling the two men, taking pictures and gasping at the scene. You shoved away everybody in front of you so you could reach Seonghwa. His face was nearly intact, but the pool of blood surrounding his cracked skull told you there was no way he'd survive. His chest moved up and down quickly, for a couple of seconds, indicating the intense pain he was in.
"Seonghwa I'm sorry- I-I'm so sorry! Please... I love you..."
Just as the last three words left your mouth, you could see his lips twitch, before his chest stopped moving, before his eyes lost all of their color, before his body went limp in your hands. You stayed there, holding the face of the deceased man you once loved, your clothes soaking his blood and you cried out for forgiveness.
You didn't dare look at Mingi, but you sure hoped he was dead.
But he wasn't. And in the end. When the ambulance and the police came, they took Seonghwa to the morgue and Mingi to the hospital. Mingi ended up surviving after intense surgery, but not for long, because you would end up killing him.
"You don't get to live!" You told Mingi, as you stabbed gagged him and stabbed him over, and over, and over.
He died in a slow, agonizing way, just like you wanted him to. After all he put you, San, and Jongho through, after the sleepless nights, the constant stress, after staying the love of your life he still thought he'd get a second chance!?
You made sure he suffered, and you made sure he knew how much you hated him as you pierced your old, blunt, and rusty knife into his body.
San and Wooyoung ended up fleeing the country, and Jongho joined the military, both too afraid to face the reality and their past actions, seeking any refuge outside of their past lives. They did end up hearing about Mingi's death, and neither of them seemed to care. After everything, they just gave up on him completely.
You were arrested for Mingi's murder, but after confessing everything, and giving a couple touch-ups where you removed Seonghwa, Jongho, and San from the story, and after leading them to Yunho's body, the lawyer from your case pleaded not guilty, and blamed your acts on the heavy toll the incidents of helping your best friend, and the death of your lover, had taken on you, and the judge agreed that you should be under house arrest, with a government assigned professional that would assist you, take care of you, and report back to court.
Was that the end? Was that all there was to your life? That seemed to be the case... Sooner or later you'd end up joining Seonghwa however, you knew that much, you just hoped he was somewhere waiting for you.

christmas cold
A/N: Hey guys! Two stories in two days? (And thereâll be another one tomorrow!) This one was spur of the moment because your girl has gone home for the holidays and caught a case of the sneezies. (Just allergies, not the rona, I swear. My parents are incurable pack rats so thereâs enough dust here to choke an elephant.) This is just Katsuki x American!Reader going to reader-chanâs house for the holidays and reader-chan having a cold. Enjoy!
 wc: 1k
genre: fluff
âDumbass, you know you always get sick when you travel.â
âI know, butââ you paused, holding a finger out in front of you as you readied your elbow to sneeze in. Katsuki was wholly unimpressed, one eyebrow raised as you fought to summon the sneeze to the surface before letting it out in your parentsâ car, ââfamily is more important than a few sneezing fits.â
âMaybe, but we could have taken a couple more days off so you wouldnât have to be fighting through a cold on Christmas Eve.â
âBut your jobââ
âComes in second to family.â
Eyes still on the roadâfrom your emergency run to the 24-hour drugstore for cold medicineâhe grabbed your hand and placed it in his on the carâs center console, stroking your wedding band once with his thumb. You smiled with warmth at the gesture, giving his hand one squeeze. Then you immediately pulled it away, another sneeze wracking your body.
âIdiot,â Katsuki said, shaking his head with a good-natured smile on his face.
âSome people say bless you.â
âSome people should have packed medicine. And taken vitamin C for their immunity like I told you.â
ââŚFine.â
You finally made it back to your parentsâ house, Katsuki smoothly backing the car into the driveway. When the two of you got out and you sneezed again, he said, âGood thing we made the choice to risk me driving on the wrong side of the road over you sneezing and jerking us into a ditch.â
âIâve survived sneezing while driving before,â you arguedâas if it hadnât been terrifying every time.
âSure, angel,â he said, walking you up to your childhood home. âLetâs get some food and medicine in you and then I can have my wife back instead of Sneezy the dwarf.â
âNot a dwarf,â you said, pulling the front door open. âAnd youâre not gonna have anyone once this stuff kicks in and knocks me on my ass.â
âI bought non-drowsy, dumbass.â
Heâd see who the dumbass was when you were passed out in a half hour, regardless of whatever he bought you. You didnât get sick often, but when you did, it always stopped you in your tracks, whether it was the illness itself or the medicine. Katsuki was going to be stuck alone with your family for the next few hours once you got a Christmas cookie and an antihistamine in you whether he liked it or not.
âJust try not to call my parents shitty to their face while Iâm drooling in bed, okay?â
âHey, I made it through our wedding without calling anyone anythingâI think I can handle this.â
âThatâs because you had all your friends to get out all your epithetic impulses out on.â
âHah,â Katsuki barked, tipsy memories from your wedding earlier in the year coming back to him. âEh, Iâll give Shitty Hair a call if I need to.â
âGood plan, Katsu.â
True to your word, thirty minutes later you were curled up in your childhood twin-size bed after having spent the last ten leaning on Katsukiâs shoulder, eyes drooping, nose still sniffling. He carried you up, dropped you unceremoniously, and then you didnât open your eyes again for an hour and a half.
âRise and shine, angel.â
âMm,â you hummed, rolling over and cracking your crusty eyes open. Your face still felt hot with sinus pressure, but at least you werenât leaking from every orifice anymore.
âHow are you feeling?â Katuski asked, on his knees by your bedside, looking at you with concern that somehow relaxed his face, smoothing it away from anger or ambition.
âBetter, thanks,â you said. âDid you all get along okay?â
âYeah, dumbass, itâs not like weâre strangers,â he said. âYou know I like your family.â
And you knew they liked him. Name-calling aside, he was a pretty damn near perfect husband on paper. Strong, handsome, important job, intelligent, caring, domestic. They might not have let you get away with marrying someone who guaranteed your life would be an ocean away from theirs otherwise.
âOkay, I can be down in a minute,â you said. âI should probably just wash my face andâwhat are you doing?â
Katsuki had stood up and walked the couple feet over to the other side of the bed and was now slipping in beside you, pulling you close so that neither of you were in danger of falling off the sides of the narrow bed.
âThe story is that you were still sleeping when I found you,â Katsuki murmured into your neck.
âOh, so you are avoiding my family?â you asked, snuggling back into him, not commenting on the fact that you had still been asleep when heâd come in.
âNo, not avoiding them,â he said. âJustâŚâ
âWhat was that?â you asked, the last words getting lost in the flesh of your shoulder. You turned your head to catch his red gaze. Red, usually a color associated with anger or warning, but for just this time of year meant merriment and peace. For you, however, it always meant love and nothing else.
âJust missed you, angel. Even if you are dripping snot.â
âHey, Iâm not anymore!â you defended.
âTake what you can get,â he mumbled. âI just said I missed you.â
And as you had every time that choice had been laid before you before, you did take what he gave you. You took his arms around you, especially warm through the holiday sweater heâd said he hated but wore for you anyway. You took the even breaths you felt on your neck, happy that youâd managed to take him away from the pressure of his job for even just a few days, even if itâd been replaced with the stress of travel and your untimely illness. You took the lie you were going to tell your family, just to have a couple of moments stolen away by yourselves, just the two of you crammed in a bed where Katsukiâs long legs hung off the end.
Maybe it was greedy, but it was the holidays and you wanted to take everything Katsuki would ever give you. Whatever it was, you wanted it all.

Full Circle
Fandom:Â The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Pairing:Â Nicholas Scratch x Reader
Warnings:Â None
Notes:Â This is based on a song thatâs become popular very recently, so you could try to determine what it is as you read, if you want. Iâll link the song at the end in case you didnât figure it out, or to listen to the song if youâve never heard it. âş
Being a hopeless romantic was practically a curse for a witch. Your kind wasnât made for love. Lust, desire, sex â all of those things came easily for witches and warlocks. But love was a different matter entirely. You knew it was foolish to allow that particular emotion to creep into your heart, but all the mortal romance novels youâd read left you willing to be foolish.
A few months after engaging in a strictly sexual relationship with Nicholas Scratch, you confessed to him that you no longer wished to continue the affair unless he was willing to incorporate romance into the mix. He was hesitant at first, but didnât want to lose the way your attention and affection made him feel important, valued, and cared for, so he complied. He took you on dates, bought you flowers every Tuesday, let you wear his jacket, cuddled together as you watched movies and read magical novels. He even wrote a poem for you, which he turned into a song with some assistance from the acoustic guitar he borrowed from the choir instructor. The dashing warlock swept you off your feet, and you had never been happier.
Then Sabrina Spellman came into the picture.
You truly had nothing against the plucky, young, promising witch. It was Nick who posed a problem. Ever since she arrived at the Academy, you felt him slipping away from you. He stopped buying you flowers. The dates became few and far between. He slowly took each of his jackets back. But all the while, he used that enthralling, silken voice of his to supply you with thinly-veiled lies of reassurance.
âThereâs nothing between Sabrina and I, babe. And besides, she has a mortal boyfriend. Donât worry your pretty little head about it, alright?â
It wasnât long before his story changed.
âBeing with you has been amazing, and youâve opened my mind to the possibility of love for our kind. I love you so much, and I always will, butâŚ. I wonât lie to you, thereâs someone else. And I canât, in good conscience, stay with you while having feelings for another person. Thatâs not fair to you. Iâm sorryâŚ. Iâm so sorry.â
The contradiction of Nickâs lie of reassurance and his words as he crushed your heart never left your mind⌠nor did your love for him. No matter how hard you tried, you couldnât shake how much your heart yearned for his touch, his kiss, his scent, his voice. It felt like a knife in the chest when you saw him and Sabrina together, shortly after the break up, and you werenât the least bit surprised that she turned out to be the âsomeone else.â Nick constantly looked at her with more love and adoration than heâd ever shown you, and it never ceased to hurt.
Nevertheless, you did the only thing you could: you carried on. Ignored the pain. Shoved your unyielding love for him to the back of your mind. You continued your studies, and your dedication to the coven. You aided your cohorts, even Sabrina, in all of the covenâs efforts. Unfortunately, that included helping Nick become a flesh Acheron for Satan, then saving him, and watching from the sidelines as he struggled to cope with the lingering effects of being trapped in his own body with the Devil. Eventually, there came a time when the coven experienced a small dose of reprieve. Hecate became your new deity, the covenâs powers were restored, the Pagans had been driven out of Greendale, and all seemed to be right with the world. Drinking away your troubles, alone in your room with a hundred-year-old bottle of Scotch, had sounded like a fine way to spend a Monday evening â until Nick walked up to you, as you sat outside on the stairs of the Academy, enjoying the cool night air.
âHey.â
One word. One, simple word was all he mustered up to say to you, despite the fact that it was your first private exchange since the break up. So, you merely echoed it.
âHey.â
Nick just stood there, before joining you on the stairs, a few feet away from you. The two of you sat there in silence for several minutes before you became the first to speak again.
âDonât you have some pretty blonde to be hanging out with right now? You know, the one who always made me doubt, yet you constantly assured me I had nothing to worry about?â you retorted, the liquor in your system acting as a conduit for your raw truth. You let out a dry, bitter laugh. âIn all honesty, I suppose I canât blame you for choosing her over me. Sheâs so much more powerful and skilled than I am. Now that I think about it, sheâs the personification of everything Iâm insecure about.â
Nick looked at you with sorrowful eyes, before looking away again, as if he couldnât bear to look at you and see how much pain you were in, even after all this time.
âSabrina and I broke up.â
The hot mess mixture of feelings that flooded you was practically dizzying. Admittedly, his statement initially filled you with hope. Perhaps this meant heâd give being with you another shot? This was immediately followed by anger â first toward yourself, for being so stupidly optimistic and naĂŻve, then toward him. Did he come here to tell you that, assuming youâd forgive him and everything would go back to the way things were, as if you would be excited to be the consolation prize?
Too dazed by the dichotomy of your thoughts, you said nothing in response. He took your silence as an invitation to continue.
âTurns out, we were a lot less compatible than I originally thought. I thought she was the one. I was willing to die for herâŚâ Nick mused, then trailed off before exhaling and continuing. âI didnât die, but I did do something much worse â all for her. It didnât matter in the end, though. We just werenât meant for each other.â
âYou have a lot of nerve to come to me thinking I give a single, solitary fuck about your feelings for her,â you snapped, and your eyes met for a moment then, but he averted his gaze. There was a poignant and tense silence before he spoke again.
âCan I ask you something?â Nick inquired, appearing extremely pensive. âDid you ever stop loving me?â
âNo. Not for a second, despite my best efforts,â you replied honestly, and he smiled sadly at your quip as he looked down. âI know we werenât perfect, but Iâve never felt this way about anyone. Thatâs why I canât imagine how you were so okay when I was gone, after weâd broken upâŚ. I guess you didnât mean what you wrote in that song about me. Because you said âforever,â now I spend every day alone and missing you.â
âI meant every word of that song,â Nick replied earnestly.
âPlease donât, Nick. Letâs just end this conversation here. I donât even know why weâre discussing this,â you whispered, shaking your head and closing your eyes, as if that would somehow prevent his words from sinking in. You stood and took a couple steps toward the door of the Academy.
âWill you please just hear me out?â
âWhy should I?â you yelled, turning to him with a blend of hurt and rage written all over your face, although the rage was what overcame your voice.
âBecause I still fucking love you!â Nick shouted, his voice ripe with conviction. He exhaled loudly, then ran his hands over his face and leaned back on the staircase. âIn that song, I wrote that Iâd love you forever. And you may find it hard to believe, but Iâve never stopped loving you. I wonât deny that I loved Sabrina too, but Iâve realized with hindsight that it was a combination of infatuation and love â more so infatuation. But with you, it was only ever love. A deep, genuine, natural, true love.â
You found yourself somewhere between confused and shocked. What he said made no sense to you, because youâd spent this long believing that he hadnât given you a second thought since getting with Sabrina. Yet here he was, pouring his heart out to you, and telling you that he still loves you.
Nick stood and took a couple steps toward you, now armâs length away.
âI know I donât deserve it, so I wonât fault you in the least if you say no, butâŚ. Would you be willing to give me another chance?â
You looked at him then â really looked at him. You studied him thoroughly, and stared deep into those big, brown eyes of his, which held so much vulnerability, contrition, pain⌠and love.
âDonât fuck it up this time, Scratch. Iâll take your life if you do. Thatâs a promise.â
The very next morning, a beautiful bouquet of blood red roses awaited you in the hallway outside your bedroom door.

Real Feelings
For the square *fake dating* on @girl-next-door-writes bingo
You pulled up to the newest construction site and parked next to Bobbyâs truck. Him and Dean would be around here somewhere Ellen had tasked you with delivering the crewâs lunch order from the diner. You stepped out the truck then leaned back in to grab the box that held the food. When you heard someone call your name you nearly dropped the box. It was Micheal, your ex boyfriend who youâd been engaged to for a short time until heâd broken it off because in his words âThis will never work out and itâll cause less heartbreak nowâ you hadnât seen him in a few years.Â
You plastered a smile on your face as he moved to help you grab the box âHi Michea! How have you been, what are you doing here?â he motioned around the lot âIâm here to meet with Dean and Bobby. They found a way to work around a design flaw I didnât think about. What are you doing here?â you motioned to the box in your hand âEllen, Bobbyâs wife asked me to bring lunchâÂ
He smiled and waved a hand towards the trailers that held the temp offices âThen weâre headed in the same way. Howâve you been?â you nodded âCanât complain, you?â he ran a hand across the back of his neck and you knew that as a tell he was nervous about something so when he started the next sentence with âWell actually I was going to call youâ your stomach knotted. Why was he calling you? âBecause?â you questioned so he grinned âIâm getting married. Itâs a whole thing thatâll be up in the mountains. Charity, you remember Charity donât you?â you nodded because yes you did in fact remember Charity. She was the greek goddess Micheal had met a few months after your split. She was gorgeous and sweet enough to meet sugar in her mouth. âWell she wanted to know if youâd like to come. Now itâll not just be the wedding. My father is having a grand opening of the resort weâre using as well so thereâll be plenty of activities to do. You always did love the snowâ
You walked up the steps next to him and knew your emotions were plainly written across your face because the next thing he added rather quickly was âAnd of course, if youâre seeing someone he can come along as wellâ you wracked your brain thinking of anyone you could use to keep from looking like you hadnât gone this long without a lasting relationship considering he was getting married for real this time. âIâll have to talk with himâ you replied and could see his eyebrows go up slightly âAnyone I know?â you stepped into the door and as you did blurted out the only name that popped into your head âIâm actually seeing Deanâ Micheal stopped in his tracks âWinchester?â you breathed a sigh of relief to see Dean wasnât in the office yet then nodded âYeah about a year nowâ âCanât say Iâm surprisedâ he muttered and you were about to ask why when the door opened to Dean walking in.
âHey baby!â you called moving to hug him then whispered in his ear âFor the love of god go along with it. Iâll owe youâ he gave you a look but pressed a quick kiss to your cheek âHey to you too sweetheartâ then nodded to Micheal âHey manâ you knew Dean was probably wondering what was really going on considering he was watching you as you laid his and Bobbyâs food down then walked out to take the other food to the crew. Bobby had joined him and Micheal by then so Dean excused him by saying âBobby Iâm gonna walk Y/N. Make sure sheâs wearing her hardhat this timeâ Bobby nodded then turned his attention back to the plans he was showing Micheal.
------
Once you and Dean were outside he cut his eyes at you and took one of the boxes out of your hand âSo darling, when did we start seeing each other?â you grimaced then explained âIâm so sorry but he caught me by surprise. I didnât know this was one of his dadâs builds then heâs talking about the fact that him and Charity are getting married and heâs inviting me and my boyfriend and honestly? With the exception of Bobby and Sam I donât really hang out with that many guys besides youâ you quickly explained the weekend Micheal and Charity had planned heading up to their big day.
He was silent for a few moments then shrugged âIs it paid?â âWhat?â you asked in confusion so he clarified âIs it paid? Like we show up and enjoy this brand spanking new resort in the mountains, get our food cooked for us. Our rooms cleaned for us and all we have to do in return is sit through your douchey ex getting married?â You nodded slowly and he smirked âI say letâs do it. I think itâd be fun and besides whenâs the last time either of us had a vacation, let alone one we didnât have to foot out an armload for?â
You opened your mouth then shut it just as quickly âWell I gotta go after I get this food to the crew but if youâre sure, tell him yesâ he winked at you then took the other box from your hands âGo on and get back to Ellen because I fully expect my girl to have some new outfits before we show up to this destination weddingâ you rolled your eyes at him then playfully swatted his ass âIâll see what I can managed sugarâ
------
The closer the weekend of the wedding got the more you wanted to back out. You and Micheal still had a lot of mutual friends and those mutual friends also knew Dean, Sam, Bobby and the entire bunch. There was bound to either be awkwardness or the horror of Micheal finding out you lied. Any time you bought the worry up to Dean heâd wave it off with the logic of âWe know damn near everything about each other sweetheart. Hell you crashed at my place after you two split until we got you into your loft. Weâre comfortable with casual touch. Heâll never knowâ
------
Before you knew it the wedding weekend had sprung up on you. You were curled up in the passenger seat of Deanâs truck as he drove following the directions Micheal and Charity had included in with every invitation. Normally heâd drive his impala but considering this was a trip into the mountains you both decided it would be better to take the truck.
âSo do you know about our room situation?â he asked, breaking the silence in the cab of the truck. You shrugged âCharity got a headcount and they blocked off that many rooms. Considering they think weâre a couple youâre fine sharing with me arenât you?â âOf course, sweetheart. Even if you do snoreâ he teased with a wink. You shook your head and reached up to turn the radio up slightly and smiled when he started to sing along with the song âBad moon risingâÂ
------
âWake up Y/N. Weâre hereâ Dean called shaking your leg closest to him. You sat up and nearly told him to turn the truck around. Yes the resort was gorgeous but the reality of going to your ex-fianceâs wedding was starting to set in. Dean reached across the console and grabbed your hand âHey fake boyfriend or not Iâm really here to back you up. I wonât leave your side all weekend unless you tell me to ok?â you managed a smile then questioned âWhat if you see a hot bridesmaid?â he shrugged âIâll get their number for laterâ âDEAN!â you scolded causing him to crack up laughing âSee? Changed your mood that quickâ You rolled your eyes but grabbed your bag and followed him once he was parked.
The interior of the resort had a nice almost rustic feel to it. A large fireplace was roaring in the center of the lobby and you grabbed Deanâs arm to pull him along with you to check it out. âYouâre already smiling. It wonât be that badâ you turned to tell him that five minutes in versus an entire weekend was too different things but stopped when you heard an accented voice call both of your names. You looked up to see Benny and his sister Elizabeth walking towards you. âBennyâ you greeted with a smile as the two of you hugged. Once you pulled away from him you greeted Elizabeth in much the same fashion.Â
âSo Dean, brother I hear you finally managed to wrangle this oneâ Benny asked with a smirk. Your eyes widened at his wording..what did he mean by finally? You chose not to ask considering youâd told Micheal the two of you had been together for nearly a year. Dean, ever the fast talker, simply slid an arm around your waist and winked at Benny âThings worth having take time donât they?â you could feel a blush threatening to warm your cheeks and shot Elizabeth a grateful smile when she said âLeave her be boys. Y/N we need to catch up but for now Iâll drag my brother away so the two of you can get checked in and squared awayâ
After the two of them had walked off you looked at Dean who still had his arm around you holding you close to his side âWhat did Benny mean?â he shrugged âWho knows with Benny?â then moved to grab your bags then nodded towards the front desk âLetâs get checked inâ
------
Your room was on the third floor so you took the nearest elevator up and thankfully it was empty. You leaned your head back against the wall then rolled it over to look at Dean silently cursing yourself for ever putting the two of you in this situation. You werenât exactly ugly but damn the man looked like a walking wet dream when he was doing the most mundane tasks and you knew for a fact the suit he had brought for the ceremony was a Tom Ford black herringbone three piece. Youâd seen him in it twice before and every woman and a good amount of the men in the nearest vicinity looked like theyâd throw themselves under a bus to have a chance to see him without it and now here you were having to play it off like you had. âYouâre thinking loud enough to give me a migraineâ he spoke pushing off the wall when the elevator came to a stop. You shrugged âJust thinking how many more people are we gonna know thatâs here, meaning how many are gonna ask about us being together after this weekendâ âLetâs enjoy this weekend then weâll worry about the restâ he replied with a wink motioning for you to step off first when the doors opened.
You checked the room numbers until you got to yours. You slid the key card in then stepped inside opening the door further for Dean since heâd insisted to carry your bags too because in his words âYes you are more than capable but dammit I am a loving fake boyfriendâ You were in the living room area of the suit and it was nice, had a small couch against one wall with two overstuffed chairs sitting across the room next to a fireplace and a large tv on one wall. Dean let out a low whistle and sat your bags down in front of the couch âSo far, so good. Want to check out the bedroom?â you ignored the warmth in your face to follow him to the bedroom door and cursed under your breath when you saw the kingsize bed. âIâll um take the couchâ you offered but he raised an eyebrow âWeâre adults Y/N. I think we can share a bed. Besides this thing is big enough we wonât even be near each other unless we want toâ he added a smirk at the end and you rolled your eyes feeling some of your nerves start to melt away at the simple fact of Dean being Dean.
âFine but you snore and Iâll put a pillow over your faceâ he nodded âFair enoughâ then grabbed your hand âGet a thicker jacket on. Weâre gonna go check out the groundsâ you didnât have time to argue before he was pulling your jacket out of one of your bags and slipping it onto your arms.Â
------
The two of you spent a few hours simply walking the different paths around the resort. Dean was always big on the outdoors and you loved the snow so it was something that you both found joy in. You ended up taking several photos of wildlife including a squirrel that took a liking to Dean.
When the sun started to shift in the sky you tried and failed to hide a shiver from Dean. He was immediately pulling his gloves off and holding them out to you. âI think thatâs our clue to head backâ you slid the gloves on then nodded âYeahâ
You walked along next to him and was a bit surprised when he reached out to lace his fingers in with yours. You glanced down at your intertwined hands and he shrugged âThat way we keep both of our hands halfway defrostedâ you bit your lip to try to hide the smile you had at the action. What the hell were you doing to yourself? You had simply tried to duck out of an awkward conversation with an ex and were now risking one of the closest friendships you had.
Your attention was drawn by Elizabethâs voice. You looked up about the time the brunette nearly barreled into you âLiz! Calm down honey. What is it?â you questioned. She cut her eyes at Dean then smiled sweetly âStand right there Dean. I wonât keep her longâ Dean had a curious look but nodded nonetheless.
You let her pull you a couple feet from Dean before asking âWhat is going on?â âLisa is hereâ you felt your heart hit your feet at that. Lisa was Deanâs ex and the closest heâd ever gotten to marriage. Sheâd played him dirty though by using her son Ben as a bargaining chip. Once Ben got old enough to go off to school sheâd lost that chip but you knew Deanâs feelings for her had in fact been very real. âOhâ you said softly which caused Elizabeth to shake your arms roughly âOh? Oh as in you arenât worried or oh as in I should start a fight with her sister just to give you an excuse to knock her out?â You let out a surprised laugh at her offer then said âOh as in Iâm not worriedâ you looked over your shoulder at Dean who waved when he saw he had your attention then added softly âNot very worried anywaysâ
-----
Elizabeth went in search of Benny so you and Dean headed back inside. He was asking if you wanted to hit the dining area or just get room service. You wanted to go ahead and tell him Lisa was here but if everything was going to implode you might as well enjoy a little before it did right? âIâm thinking room service and maybe some horror movies?â you suggested as the two of you walked towards the elevators. He pulled you into his side and left a kiss on your temple âThatâs my girl!â
------
You left ordering the food up to Dean while you took a shower and you started to wonder if you should regret that decision when you walked into the living room. He had a fire going and there were plates on nearly every surface. âAre we barricading ourselves in here? Did the apocalypse start while I was in the shower and if so can I claim Daryl?â He looked up from scrolling through the movie options to laugh humorlessly âFirst off Iâm like so much better looking than him and I just decided that weâd try a little bit of everything in case the rest of the weekend gets to be too much and your stomach does that nervous thing where you canât eat without getting queasyâÂ
Damn he remembered that? Guess it shouldnât surprise you but even Micheal had never paid too much mind to that. âWell in that case pick the first movie and letâs get this marathon startedâ
------
Dean knew youâd never make it through the entire list of movies the two of you had picked. Halfway through the Texas chainsaw massacre you were curled up next to him with your head laid over on his shoulder. He missed times like this. After you and Micheal had first split and you stayed with him this was a weekly occurrence. The two of you would stay up most saturday nights, watching the cheesiest horror movies and eating the weirdest take out you could. Youâd always fall asleep on him and he would always just get comfortable and sleep on the couch as well to have you close to him. His feelings for you had already been apparent by the time him and Lisa finally called it quits but youâd been with Micheal. After the breakup he hadnât wanted to be seen as trying to take advantage so he was content with the best friend role. Heâd date and see you date but would always hold his breath when youâd hit the couple weeks mark with whatever idiot youâd be currently seeing in hopes youâd kick the guy to the curb and you always did.Â
When this weekend had come up youâd expected him to laugh at the idea but heâd jumped at. Maybe if he had some alone time with you in a place as gorgeous as this he could finally put words to his feelings and maybe just maybe you felt the same.
------
Waking up on the couch with Deanâs arms around you felt like a dream until you remembered just why the two of you were here and what Elizabeth had told you the night before. You turned to look up at him and smiled seeing his face so relaxed. His mouth was open just slightly and his hair was tousled from moving around in his sleep. You werenât sure how long youâd been staring at him when a smirk slipped onto his face âStaring is a little creepy honeyâ you rolled your eyes and slowly started to sit up âI wasnât staring I was simply making sure you werenât drooling on meâ
He opened one eye and smiled at you âAre you asking me to get bodily fluid on you?â âI swear to christ Dean!â you scolded but he started laughing and pulled you back down next to him âShh go back to sleep. Breakfast runs for another two hours and thereâs no wedding stuff until the snowmobile ride around one then the dinner at sevenâ You cut your eyes up at him and took a deep breath before saying âI need to tell you why Elizabeth found me last nightâ
He sat up slowly opening both eyes and yawned âIâm guessing not just to get help burying Benny in snow?â you shook your head âUm well you know a lot of our friend groups and Michealâs are intertwinedâ he nodded so you finally bit the bullet âLisa is hereâ âOhâ he stood up off the couch rubbing a hand across the back of his neck. There were too many emotions playing through his eyes to pick out just one so you took the opportunity to say âIâm gonna grab a shower. Charity asked for some of the female guests to come pick out corsages so none of us are left without flowers so Iâm going to meet up with Liz to do thatâ
You quickly walked out the room before Dean could see the look in your eyes at his reaction upon hearing Lisa was at the resort. Well at least thursday had been fun. You simply had today and tomorrow to get through then sunday you could head home.
------
By the time you got out the shower Dean was sitting on the foot of the bed with his toiletry bag next to him so he could shower next. He glanced up when you walked out and smiled âSo are you and Liz gonna meet up with me and Benny for breakfast or are we left up to our own devices?â you shrugged and grabbed your thinner jacket since you planned to be indoors until the snowmobiling later. âWhy donât you two go without us and weâll meet up later?â âYou donât think Iâm gonna leave you high and dry just because Lisa is here..do you?â you opened your mouth to reply but someone was on your side because Elizabeth chose that moment to text your phone âIâm outside your room babeâ you showed him the phone and he nodded âFind me after you pick flowers..please?â you smiled âOf courseâ then nearly ran out the room.
------
You forced a smile onto your face as you followed Elizabeth into the room where Charity had the florists set up. You really did think it was a cute idea that she didnât want any woman in attendance to be without flowers even though it was her big day.
You stopped the moment you stepped into the room and spotted Lisa talking to Charityâs sister Alice. âWell look what the cat dragged inâ Elizabeth muttered under her breath and you bit your lip to hide the smile âLetâs just check in with Charity, pick our flowers and get the hell out of hereâ she nodded looping her arm in with yours. The two of you headed for the table lined with daisies, sunflowers and lilies. âWhat were you thinking?â she asked, picking up one of the flowers off the table. You shrugged âSomething simple Liz, my dress is dark blue and Deanâs suit is blackâ âIs it the three piece Tom Ford number? He always did look amazing in that?â Lisaâs voice came from behind you and you felt your spine stiffen at her voice.
Elizabeth cut her eyes at you as you turned to face Lisa with a smile on your face âMatter of fact it is. Nice to see you again Lisa. Howâs Ben?â her smile faltered slightly at your mention of him. âHeâs doing fine, can I ask you one thing?â you nodded slowly âEven if I say no youâre gonna talk anyways so I might as well agree to it to keep things civil for Charity and Michealâs sakeâ
You saw Elizabeth move out the corner of your eye coming to stand directly next to you and you then realized Lisaâs sister Tabitha had come to stand behind her. You werenât doing this. You and Micheal had ended on a good note, Charity was a good person and you were going to have to be pushed really far to act stupid during their weekend. âWere you screwing him when I was with him or did you just wait until Micheal woke up about you?â âYou know what Lisa..â Elizabeth started but was stopped by Alice stepping between you and Lisa âBraeden, Y/N is a guest here same as you are. If the two of you have issues with each other we have a big resort here take it outside or get over itâ
You stared Lisa down as you told Alice âI have no problem. Iâm here for Micheal and Charity. They invited meâ Lisa plastered one of those smiles that could only be described as how Lucifer smiled at Eve in the garden âNo issue from me eitherâ Alice nodded and smiled at you âHow have you been Y/N? Did you and Elizabeth find the flowers you wanted?â you shook your head still looking at Lisa over her shoulder. She gently touched your elbow and led you back to one of the tables. âTell me what colors you and Dean are wearing and Iâm sure weâll find something that looks amazing. You too Elizabethâ
------
After you and Elizabeth were through picking flowers she asked if you wanted to grab breakfast. âJust the two of us?â you offered and she shrugged âUp to you. We can find your honey and my brother if you want or we can just catch up?â you smiled âI like the idea of catching up. Dean and Benny are big boys. They can be left alone for a little whileâ she smiled in return and grabbed your arm âWell then come on maâamâ
-------
You were sipping on your coffee when Lisa walked by your table. She was still staring you down but you refused to do anything to mess up a friendâs wedding weekend. âYou know Iâm starting to think sheâs more jealous of Dean having you then you having Deanâ Elizabeth scoffed and you coughed around your coffee from the laugh that pulled from your lips. âI really need to get down to Louisiana more often. I forgot just how much fun you Lafittesâ areâ She winked at you over her own coffee cup âEspecially around Mardi Grasâ
You were about to leave to go change for the snowmobile ride when a plate was set down on the side of yours and Elizabethâs table. You cut your eyes up at the person whoâd sat it down and it was Tabitha. âLisa said since you enjoy her leftovers so much she figured you may want moreâ you took a deep breath then stood to face her eye to eye âTell Lisa if she has an issue with me she needs to be woman enough to deal with it when itâs not conflicting with other plans. Now she want to hit me up next weekend? Iâll gladly whip her assâ you heard Elizabeth snicker under her breath and Tabitha looked scandalized âAre you even with him? I mean youâre not really his typeâÂ
Elizabeth was to her feet in a flash âYou little..â but you stopped her with a hand then smiled at Tabitha âWhat? Not manipulative enough?â with that she seemed dumbfounded so you turned back to Elizabeth âLetâs go get changedâ
------
Elizabethâs room was on the same floor as yours and Deans so the plan was to change then meet up at the elevator unless one of you ran into one of the guys first. You unlocked the door and stepped into your room breathing a sigh of relief to see Dean was in fact not there but your phone went off with a text from him âDammit we have looked everywhere for you two. Where did you get off to?â you rolled your eyes and sent back âIâm lost come find meâ before laying the phone down to dig out different clothes.
You were pulling your boots on when you heard the door of the room open then shut followed by Dean calling your name. âIn here!â you hollered and he poked his head around the door holding his phone up âThat has never been funny. Elizabeth told Benny where you wereâ âSnitchâ you mumbled standing to grab your jacket. You could feel him watching you and cursed under your breath when he asked âWhatâs wrong?â you shrugged and tried to walk past him but he grabbed your arm âCome on darlin. I know that look something is upâ you nodded âYeah your ex is a fucking bitch and needs to be glad that weâre at a mutual friendâs weddingâ âWhat did she do?â he asked dropping your arm like the mere touch had burnt âEverything from saying how good youâve always looked in that one suit to asking me if I was screwing you when the two of you were together to sending her sister over to mine and Elizabethâs table to give me her leftovers from breakfast followed up by reminding me Iâm not your typeâ when you were met with silence you laughed humorlessly âI think Iâll get Benny to come grab my bags and just stay with Elizabeth the rest of the weekend. We can tell everyone we split and if need be Iâll pay their gas to swing through to take me home on their wayâ âYou donât have to do thatâ he offered but youâd already turned away so he wouldnât see the tears in your eyes âYeah. I do because this was the stupidest idea Iâve ever hadâ you grabbed your jacket and pushed past him out the room.
You nearly mowed over poor Benny who reached out to steady you âWoah there. Where you headed like that?â you figured might as well bite half the bullet at least âWe just broke up will you bring my bags to Lizâs room?â he seemed more than a little confused but nodded âWant me to smack some sense into him?â you shook your head with a watery smile âIt was bound to happen. Iâm not really his typeâ then walked away from him to find Elizabeth.
------
You ended up dipping out of the snowmobile ride. You told Charity you were having a bit of motion sickness and bless her sheâd gotten one of the staff to bring you some medicine.
You and Elizabeth had decided on one of the nature walks instead. âSo what happened?â she asked and you shook your head âI told him what happened with Lisa. He didnât respondâ âIâm sorry honeyâ she replied pulling you into her side with one arm. You shrugged âWas bound to happen anywaysâ
When you finally pulled your phone out after the two of you had been wandering the trails for nearly two hours you had fifteen texts from Dean and even a few from Sam and Eileen wanting to know why their brother/brother in law was texting them to get them to text you to text him. Confusing huh?
âMaybe heâs sorry?â Elizabeth offered but you shook your head âIâm not holding him up. Who knows maybe Lisa is right. Maybe he does still want herâ the words themselves felt like a hot knife twisting in your gut but you werenât going to let it show. You could get through this and avoid Dean as much as possible until the sting went away.Â
------
At dinner you told Elizabeth you werenât feeling well but talked her into going to dinner well after you made her promise to not blow up at Dean, Lisa or Tabitha. You left her with Benny in hopes he would see that she kept that promise then headed up to her room.
When you opened the door Benny had laid your suitcase and smaller bag on the couch. You called room service to get some food and to see if you could get an extra pillow and blanket so you didnât have to steal one off her bed.
By the time Elizabeth got up to the room you had already eaten and showered and was curled up on the couch watching a movie. She smiled at you the moment she walked in the door âHeâs clearly upsetâ you sighed and patted the cushion next to you âYouâre welcome to come watch Liz but I donât wanna talk about Deanâ she nodded âFair enoughâ and kicked off her shoes to come join you.
------
âI fucked up manâ Dean told Benny with a shake of his head. âYou think? Man youâve been telling me for how long how you feel about that girl then you what? Canât even manage to say fuck her about your ex?â Dean shrugged because he honestly had no idea why he hadnât said anything about it when you told him of the confrontations with Lisa. âHow do I fix it?â he asked and Benny laughed âBeg? Then beg some more?â âYou know what Benny? Youâre such a helpâ
Lisa and Tabitha walked into the bar about that time and Benny bumped Deanâs arm forcing him to look up right before Lisa walked over to them. âDean, I hear you got tired of Y/N already. Want a real woman again?â Benny rolled his eyes at her words then cut his eyes at Dean. As much as he liked him he liked you too and if Dean wouldnât speak up on your behalf he damn sure was going to. âReal woman Lisa? You mean a liar, manipulator and cheater? Y/N has been one of my closest friends for as long as I can remember. When I needed her she was there, when Sammy, Bobby, Ellen hell anybody needed her she was there. Sheâs the most amazing woman Iâve ever met. She fights for those she cares about, she takes care of everyone she can. Sheâs strong but still soft and I love herâÂ
Bennyâs eyes widened at Deanâs confession and Lisa looked like she swallowed a frog âYou love that?â Dean stood off the stool at her words and smiled âSweetheart there was never anyone but herâ
------
You and Elizabeth were wandering around before the ceremony. You were dressed complete with flowers. The people loitering around the lobby looked like they belonged in one magazine or another at a newsstands. You spotted Alice and walked towards her with a smile âHowâs Charity?â she laughed nervously âScared?â âSheâll be fine. Your dad walking her?â she nodded so you added âJust tell him to have a good grip on her arm just in case and tell her to keep her head high. Sheâs beautiful and weâre all here for herâ She smiled âThanks Y/Nâ âAnytimeâ
Elizabeth had watched you talk to Alice and when you got back to her side she asked âHow are you that good talking about your ex-fianceâs soon to be wife?â you shrugged âhindsight twenty twenty? Me and Micheal didnât belong together. He just figured it out before I didâ She nodded slightly âSo who do you belong with?âÂ
You could feel your cheeks threaten to warm as you thought about Dean. The way he made you feel when youâd wake up next to him or how he always went out of his way to make you laugh. How he always took care of everyone around him but resisted when it came to allowing someone to take care of him because he still wasnât used to it. You were in love with him and had now possibly lost even his friendship. âWho I want I canât haveâ you finally said and she asked âWhy not?â âHe doesnât want meâ you replied but froze when you heard Deanâs voice behind you âAre you sure about that? Because really if a guy has a shot at you and doesnât take it he needs his ass kickedâ
You looked back at Elizabeth but she was grinning at Benny âOh dear brother of mine! Letâs go check out those nifty little stands they have set up near the doors!â you watched the two of them disappear then looked back at Dean âI never shouldâve asked you to pretend this weekendâ he nodded then smiled âAnd I shouldâve admitted the reason I agreed was to get to spend some time with you so maybe I could figure out if you feel the same way about me that I do about you. Me and Lisa we never wouldâve worked for the same reason you and Micheal never wouldâve worked. I found who I want to be with and itâs youâ âDean please tell me you arenât screwing with me right nowâ you whispered grateful the two of you had moved to the edge of the room where no one could overhear. âIâve never been more serious about anythingâ you patted at the tears threatening to spill from your eyes âChrist Iâm glad Liz had waterproof mascaraâ he bit back a laugh and motioned to your face âThose good tears?â you nodded âIf youâre serious come kiss me Winchesterâ a smirk slipped onto his face âDonât have to tell me twiceâÂ

Comforting Nights
Oneshot Fic
Words: 2034
Description: The demon of pride finds you in quite an unprideful state after youâve had a nightmare.
Authorâs Note: Iâve had a rough few days, so for me and anyone else whoâs going through a tough time, hereâs some unapologetic fluff.
You were unaware of what time it was at this point. The endless starry sky and eternal soft moonlight was making it difficult for you to determine how many hours were left until the brothers would be waking up. Everyone was going to have another long day at RAD and Lucifer was adamant on making sure everyone got adequate rest. You had tried to get some sleep like he wanted, and yet here you were, restless and riddled with anxiety on the roof of the House of Lamentation.
The bedroom you had grown accustomed to was much too stuffy and, at the moment, being inside left a weird feeling on your skin. Signs pointed to the nightmare you had experienced, bordering on the line of a night terror. The sweat on your skin and the heat of your breath after you gasped back into consciousness persuaded you to get some fresh air. The roof was as good a place as any. The venue provided an unobscured view of the Devildom sky and city outline.
With your knees tucked to your chest, you went back to picking out constellations, names and shapes much different than the ones you knew in the human realm. The stars were little multi-colorful orbs that proved time and time again to take your breath away. Even with all the light coming from the city, they refused to let themselves be blocked out. They didnât twinkle though, not like the stars you knew. You could hear Satanâs voice in your mindâs eye as he explained about the reason why. Something about how the stars twinkle in the human realm because of the atmosphere.
However, not even the stars nor the sights of the city from your perch could stop the burning in your body, the fight or flight response still tremendously strong. A little noise escaped from your mouth as you hugged your own body, curling up against your legs as you tried to erase the dream from your mind. Blood, screams, flashes of teeth and bone against a shape so inhuman you didnât even know how to describe it other than with one word. Demonic. Whatever it was had torn you apart and done it with no mercy, no hesitation. Your flesh and bone was rendered into scraps, and the only thing louder than the creatures growls was the shrieking of your own voice. When you woke up you could still feel lingering pain pulsate throughout your entire body, your throat dry and sore. This wasnât the first time you experienced this turmoil either, for some reason it had been plaguing you every night for the past week. You were exhausted, you didnât remember the last time you had gotten a good nightâs rest, and you were starting to wonder if youâd ever sleep peacefully again. Your nerves were fried, your chest tight. You felt like such a child letting something as simple as a shadow in a dream to have you so frazzled.
Your mind was so abuzz with worries you didnât notice the sound of someone taking soft steps towards you in the darkness. The figure didnât speak your name or give away any announcement, they only placed a gentle hand on your shoulder. You quickly snapped your head back, much too quickly, the reaction of someone who was on edge.
The eldest brother, the demon of pride, the forceful Lucifer was in his full form behind you, wings folded against his back, his horns sticking out from a head of messy hair. His usual resplendent clothes were replaced with silken pajamas. Just a quick glance down let you see red fluffy house slippers, ones you had bought him just a few weeks before, the same ones he always wears at night now.
His outfit mixed with his bed-head and sleepy circles under his lids put you surprisingly at ease. Lucifer squeezed your shoulder, blinking away remnants of drowsiness from his eyes.
âMC, whatâre you doing up here at a time like this? Do you know how long Iâve been looking for you?â He moved his hand, standing up straight and crossing his arms. He frowned and shook his head, black tendrils of his hair falling in front of his red irises. âWhy arenât you in your room? I was worried something had happened.â His unusually soft expression and the comforting sight of having someone there let some tension ebb from your lungs. It flowed out of you through your eyes, silent tears drifting down your cheeks. Your handle on your emotions weakened by your fervent fatigue. Lucifer was taken aback, hesitating by your sudden state for only a second before getting to his knees to check you over, worried you were hurt somehow. âWhatâs wrong, whatâs happened?â
You chuckled a bit, your lip slightly quivering. âJust a bad dream...itâsâŚâ You wanted to tell him how haunting it was, but you stopped yourself. âItâs stupid, nothing to be worried about, nothing to be crying about.â You lifted your arm to brush your own tears away, turning your head away from his gaze in embarrassment. Surely the prideful firstborn would ridicule the idea of being so distraught over subconscious hallucinations. With a soft hand large enough to cover your whole cheek, he brought your face to look back into his.
âI noticed something has been going on with you for a while. Why didnât you come tell me? Coming straight to me wouldâve been a much easier solution than searching the house for you in the dead of night.â With a hand under your arm, he brought you to your feet, holding you by the shoulders to keep you steady. Rubbing the sides of your arms gently to try to cease the convulsions in your chest. His grip was just addicting enough to encourage you to stay in his touch further.
âIâm not a child, Lucifer,â you mumbled under your breath. âI donât need to run to someone over a bad dream. I can handle this alone.â You had to bite the inside of your cheek to keep you focused. You wanted to handle it alone, you wanted to prove to yourself and the other brothers that you were stronger than they gave you credit for. At the same time you also yearned for them to take care of you, that finally you could be vulnerable and they wouldnât judge you for it because, after all, you were only a human.
âAlright, youâre not a child. So I take it you donât want me to put you to bed? I can ensure you have no more nightmares.â One of his eyebrows raised, his hand cupping your chin as he finished drying your eyes.
You had to focus to keep from squirming, your jaw clenched, your heart fluttering. The last thing you wanted to admit is when you awoke, the first thing you wanted to do was tell someone, to have them wrap you in their arms and tell you it was okay. You had paced back and forth in front of Luciferâs bedroom door for a good five minutes before heading up to the roof. âIâŚâ
âHm?â
He really was going to make you say it. Of course he knew what you were thinking, what you really wanted. He possessed an inhuman sense of observation, as well as a desire to see you flustered. He acts like heâs the bigger man compared to his brothers, but there was no hiding his mischief. âI want to go to bed.â
âAlone?â The sleep was fully gone from his vision, you could fully see a glint in there, something behind his eyes that wasnât the rays from the moon. Something taunting, leering, but hopeful, expectant. If you didnât know any better, he wanted you as much as you wanted him. But god, how he just loved to push you.
His glare almost made you want to cry more, but you could no longer find the strength to tear up or fight your own longing any longer. âCan I...sleep with you?â
That was all he needed to hear, the confirming words to the fact he already knew. Hearing it come out of your mouth was music to his ears. Heâll take you by the hand, his skin warm in comparison with the chilly nip of the air outside. With long calm strides in his slippers, heâll lead you to his room. Itâs so warm and cozy in here, vastly different compared to the cold and hard demon that had first invited you to the Devildom. It was almost poetic in its metaphor. With a little time and patience, and admittedly some close scrapes with death, you got to know a whole new side of Lucifer. He had music playing from a record player above his fireplace, the sound of a somber piano already lulling you into peace. Lucifer folded back his sheets, letting you crawl in first before he got in beside you, eyes bright, resembling the expression some kids had whenever their parents told them they would be taking them to an amusement park. He was excited, but he didnât need to tell you, you could feel the rush of blood pulsing through his body.
He wasted no time with his embrace. He brushed the hair away from your face before pulling you close to his body. Each of his grand wings extended to fold around you both, trapping the two of you in between a sea of ebony feathers. They were impossibly soft, brushing against your skin like gentle whispers. Instinctively you let out a surprised squeak. In return you felt a supportive hand protect the back of your neck. His other pressed against the small of your back, the fingertips gently kneading your body in comforting patterns. Heâd make sure you felt like both of you were the only living beings in the world, that anything that dared threaten you would have to go through him first. Youâd feel his face come in close near the top of your head, his breathing slowly syncing up with your heartbeat. A soft, silent melody would emanate deep in his throat only just loud enough for you to hear inside the cocoon he had created. A consoling concert just for your ears, the echoes of the peaceful sounds drowning out whatever worries you had held deep within your heart.
You buried your face in his chest, making a mental apology for wrinkling his pajamas as you gripped them in your hands. You shut your eyes, feeling the back of your mind tug at your consciousness as it threatened to let you slip under. Before you let it take you, you let out a relieved sigh, the air on your breath coming out in shudders, the prickles the nightmare had left on you were far gone. Even now you couldnât even recall the shadow creature that had scared you so. A blur of a figment already forgotten. The only thing occupying your thoughts was the rumble of Luciferâs voice, the texture of his wings against your skin, and the solace in his every touch.
The notes in the tune led you to where you needed to go, Lucifer looking at your tranquil state as you slumbered in his arms. He pressed his lips gently to your forehead, a silly gesture he had once been told would ward away torment in the night. With his eyes shining like the stars outside, he melted into you before going back to sleep, searching for you in his dreams.
It was the best sleep you had ever gotten, and now your only worry was having to get used to sleeping alone in your quiet bedroom. However, you were unaware that Lucifer was already making plans to ensure that for the rest of your stay you would be sleeping in his room, under his blankets, right next to him. You had no idea that just your presence gave him the most comforting and fulfilling rest he had ever had in his long life, and he wasnât about to let it go now. He wasnât about to let you go.

Pairing: Bucky x Pianist!Reader

Read Part 2
---
After everything that happened with the Flag Smashers and the GRC, Bucky thought that laying low with Sam in Louisiana was a good idea. He had been looking for a fresh start anyway. Between losing Steve and making his last amends, New York as of late had only been full of sad memories and regrets. Louisiana was so different- slower paced and fresh, no negative feelings. No feelings at all, actually. Sam was more than understanding, letting him stay with them until he found a semi-permanent place here.
Currently, Bucky was staring out the window, watching the breeze make little waves in the grass as he ate his sandwich. Sarah and the kids had gone out to the boat, making the house feel virtually abandoned. There was too much space and not enough people. For just himself, it was only a reminder that he would continue to stay as he always had- alone.
Sam walked into the kitchen where Bucky was, effectively breaking his train of thought. He raised an eyebrow at Samâs mischievous smile- or maybe it was a regular one. He always looked like he was up to something, at least to Bucky.
âGreat news,â Sam started. âI just got off the phone with a friend of mine. Sheâs moving down here for some work and is looking for someone to live on the property with her.â
âShe?â Bucky questioned.
âListen, I know what youâre thinking but before you say anything else, let me explain. So she already bought the house, itâs less than 10 minutes from here so you can still see us whenever you want. The propertyâs a couple acres so itâs got tons of space. It comes with an apartment over the shed, so you donât have to share walls. She keeps to herself so she wonât bother you,â Sam said, counting the pros on his fingers as he talked.
âAnd the best part is: you donât need to pay rent. I explained the situation, with you being a hero to the world and all, and she said as long as you can help her out with the heavy-duty stuff like taking care of the property and the occasional repair, you donât have to worry about it.â
Bucky eyed the couch that had been his home for the past several weeks. Donât get him wrong- being here with the boys was fun. Unfortunately though, he was still in a place in his life where he needed time to think, heal and meditate. The nightmares, although less frequent, were still occurring. Sam was always supportive, but Bucky didnât want to keep putting him out. Sam noticed the hesitation and spoke.
âYou donât have to decide right now, but sheâs moving here in a few days and could at least use some help. She said we could go look at the property now- no pressure though. Youâre welcome to stay here as long as you want.â
Bucky paused a moment before nodding.
âOkay, letâs go.â
---
Sam turned into a dirt driveway lined with low hanging trees on one side and a field on the other. Bucky wouldnât have even noticed it if not for the mailbox on the street.
âSee, well this is perfect for you, itâs back in the cut.â Sam said.
Bucky could understand from context clues that that meant secluded. Probably.
It took a few seconds down the driveway before the trees on the left cleared and the water was visible. On the other side, there was a light green house with white trim. With the typical Southern architecture and porch, it was the picture perfect place to live. No neighbors- just trees and water.
Sam whistled as they pulled up at the end of the driveway by the house. Now that they were closer, Bucky could see the large garage on the opposite side of the driveway. It almost looked like another house but much smaller, and with a small dock in the water. The bottom floor of the garage had two large doors that opened upwards, and one regular doorway. The top floor had several windows with curtains in them, shrouding the inside. Getting out of the car, Bucky walked around the car to where Sam was opening the door to the garage.
Going in to inspect the garage, Bucky blinked to adjust to the dim light. He looked around to find several yard tools, some cans of paint on shelves, and a riding mower. On the back wall was a door. Hearing a rustle, he turned to find Sam feeling up on the highest shelf.
âFound it!â He said triumphantly, holding the key to the apartment up.
Walking over to the door on the back wall, Sam unlocked it and pulled it open. Bucky poked his head through the doorway and looked up to the staircase at his left. He turned to meet Samâs eye, who shrugged before gesturing to Bucky to take the lead. It led up to the top floor of the garage, which was fitted with an apartment that turned out to be nicer than he thought.
It was simple but in good condition. Dark hardwood floor, white trim, pale steel blue walls. Where they had walked up was the living room. Directly across from it was a kitchen area with a veranda to walk out on. The open space then shrunk to a hallway to the left. The bathroom being the first door and a bedroom at the end of the hall. Overall, plenty of space for one person.
âI donât know about you Buck, but this place seems perfect.â Sam said as he opened the glass sliding door to the veranda. It overlooked the undisturbed landscape, hidden from the nearby town.
âIt does.â Bucky responded simply.
He took a moment to walk out onto the veranda with Sam and view the birds wading through the water.
âWell good,â Sam said with a chuckle. âThis way, you can stop hitting on my sister.â
Bucky laughed and punched him in the arm. Sam feigned physical and emotional injury.
âHaha, Very funny.â
Sarah was a nice gal, but focused on her life at the moment. Sure, there had been a few sparks, but ultimately she had made it clear that her priority at the moment was her boys and her business. Bucky had been a good sport about it. It just felt good to be back in the game without it feeling forced.
Sam watched as Bucky stared out at the water before switching to a serious note.
âSo⌠You feel like youâre ready?â
Bucky slowly nodded.
âYeah. This is it.â
Sam smiled wide as he handed the key over and placed a hand on his shoulder.
âWelcome home.â
---
Bucky had very few belongings from New York that came with him. A small wooden table with chairs. A few books. A bed, a couch, a TV. There wasnât really a whole lot that couldnât be replaced if needed. He had been able to take the trip to and from in a few days, already moving his belongings into the apartment. The only big thing he had done was bring Steveâs old Harley out of storage. He probably should get a car at some point since it wasnât the city anymore but heâd figure it out.
After saying goodbye to Sarah and the kids, Bucky opened the door to Sam's truck.
âPromise youâll visit?â shouted one of the boys before clinging to him.
Bucky smiled and patted the kid on the back.
âOf course, I will.â He said, looking at the other boy before gesturing for him to join the hug.
âUncle Buckâs not going anywhere boys,â Sam promised across the center console from the driverâs side.
Both boys eventually peeled off of Buckyâs side. He got in the truck and rolled down the window.
âBe good for your mom okay?â He said to the boys as he waved and nodded at Sarah, who smiled back as the truck started.
âOkay, bye!â They shouted until Bucky could no longer see them in side view mirror.
He really would miss those kids.
They drove in comfortable silence until they pulled up to the house where a light blue sedan was parked next to a storage pod that had been delivered. After parking by it, they exited the truck as you were stepping out of your car.
âSam!â You exclaimed cheerfully, as you went in for a hug. He lifted you slightly off the ground and you laughed, smiling wide. Bucky stood to the side and observed the interaction, giving you a once-over. You were dressed appropriately for the work you were about to do- light-wash high-water jeans, a white t-shirt with a chest pocket, canvas shoes, and hair up in a slightly messy bun with a few gold bobby pins thrown in to hold back any loose wisps of hair.
After Sam set you down, he turned to Bucky and introduced you.
â⌠and we met during a charity event that Tony hosted. She offered her services free of charge to help us raise money for the VA.â
You held a hand out to Bucky.
âItâs very nice to meet you! Thanks so much for helping me move in, I really appreciate it.â
Bucky smiled lightly and nodded as he shook your hand.
âNice to meet you too.â
You smiled and took back your hand before looking at the house.
âShall we?â You inquired, gesturing towards the storage pod.
âOf course,â Sam replied, opening the door to the pod. As Bucky looked inside, he noted that it was mostly just boxes. The noticeable items were the same as his: the bare minimum- besides a fancy electric piano.
âHowâre you gonna fill up this house with a few pieces of furniture?â Sam joked.
âHey, itâs better than having too much stuff! Besides, donât guys always say that women have too much stuff?â You quip back as you reach for one of the larger boxes in the pod.
âAh-ah-ah, no you donât,â Sam said as he intercepted you and picked up the box.
âOh, câmon Sam. Iâll feel bad if I make you guys do all the heavy stuff.â
âYouâre not making us do anything. Besides, Iâll be fine, and the old man could use some exercise,â he said, nodding towards Bucky.
You smiled timidly at Bucky.
âI have a bad shoulder.â You explained while gripping the top of your right arm.
âI get what that feels like,â he sympathized, nodding to his metal arm.
âAh, yes, Iâm sorry, itâs not nearly as bad-â
Bucky cut you off.
âDonât be sorry. If itâs hurting you, donât worry about it. We can handle it.â He said gently, pausing for a moment before continuing.
âOr at least I can.â
Sam tilted his head back and feigned hurt feelings while you picked up a lamp base and shook it lightly at him.
âDoes this meet your approval, Mr. Wilson?â You asked teasingly.
âWhy yes, yes it does. Now come on.â
He walked into the house, you right on his heels. Bucky eyed the two of you together for a moment before picking up a few boxes himself.
---
A few hours later, he was sitting on the worn leather couch next to Sam while you went to get them some drinks in the kitchen. You appeared under the white trimmed archway into the living area holding three glasses.
âOne sweet tea for the guest, one lemonade for my new neighbor, and a half and half for the gracious host.â You said, holding up your glass after handing the others out.
You three clinked glasses and you sunk into a sage green armchair with dark wood.
âSo⌠how does this work?â Bucky asked, taking a sip of his drink.
âMmm, yes.â You said, swallowing the sip you had taken.
âUhm, basically whenever youâre not off saving the world with Captain America,â You started, smiling with pride at Sam. âIf you could just make sure the grass doesnât get too long and help me with some of the more physically demanding repairs and jobs around the house, thatâd be great. Of course, that only applies if youâre here, and even then, as long as itâs not urgent, you can take your time getting around to it. Other than that, youâre free to do as you please.â
âThatâs very generous of you.â He remarked.
âWell, donât say that yet,â you said while laughing. âThe property is huge so it might be more of a challenge than you think. But like I said, thereâs no need to rush to anything. Besides, I should be thanking you. Youâve done a lot for the world.â
Sam interjected before Bucky could respond, which was okay because he still wasnât used to accepting thanks instead of apologizing.
âWhereâs my thank you for saving the world?â
You rolled your eyes and sarcastically rattled off a thank you. Bucky cleared his throat after a moment.
âAnything you want me to start working on?â
âOh, please get settled in first. I have some furniture getting delivered that I might need help assembling in a few days but otherwise, thereâs nothing else. If you have any expenses like paint or tools, you can just use this card and let me know.â You said, handing over a credit card.
âWe should also exchange phone numbers too. Whatâs yours?â
Bucky stalled a moment before rattling off the numbers. It was a foreign feeling- giving out his phone number. He was most definitely having PTSD from his therapist chucking his phone at him. He watched as you typed away on your phone. Feeling his phone ping, Bucky looked at it and saw a message from an unregistered number.
âHi, Itâs me :)â
âThatâs my number. Obviously.â
Bucky nodded his head in thanks while registering your number. It had been a while since he had added anyoneâs number. You and Sam started talking about something else while Bucky exited back to the main list of contacts. There, your name was italicized and highlighted at the top. What a strange feeling.
âŚ
Later that night, Bucky was relaxing, enjoying the peace. It was warm for autumn, and the water was reflecting the moonlight. He couldnât sleep. Not that that was surprising. He walked out of the apartment down to the small dock to sip on a beer and celebrate his newfound independence. Sitting on the edge where his feet barely touched the water, he leaned back onto his hands and took a deep breath in.
Thatâs when he heard it.
Just barely, with his enhanced hearing, he could hear your crying. It was like you were wailing in pain. Not a sharp new pain, but an intense never ending one. The kind that you hear from an animal thatâs been maimed- the kind you put out of their misery. Whatever you were holding in, it had been building up for an impossibly long time and finally, exhausted, you found a chance to let it out. Being able to hear it felt like a dirty invasion of privacy.
Bucky swallowed and took another deep breath before trying to focus on the sound of the wildlife around him. But it was no use. Here you were. Here he was.
No longer the only runaway seeking refuge.

âAre you sure you want to do this?â You asked, leaning against the door frame.
âYes.â
âOk, let me rephrase thatâŚâyou shifted your weight a little âAre you sure you can do this?â
Ransom let out an annoyed snort through his nose and turned his eyes to look up at you. âDoll, how hard can it be?â
You really didnât want to answer that question, as to anyone else with half a logical brain, following simple instructions on how to piece together a crib wouldnât be so hard at all. But to Ransom, the mere fact that there were instructions to follow was kinda making you a little uneasy, as he had a problem with doing anything he was told to do at the best of times. Ransomâs brow furrowed as he clocked the look on your face and he rolled his eyes.
âYou have so little faith in me.â
âCan you blame me?â you spluttered âYou turned all the washing pink a few weeks back, then you almost poisoned everyone, not to mention the incident with the tire jack!â
âThis is different.â He said confidently as he began to remove the outer packaging of the crib.
âIs it?â
âYes, Y/N!â he groaned with an air of exasperation âLook, I know you have zero faith in me whatsoever, but what else is new?â
âRanâŚâ you started to protest, and he shrugged you away very matter-of-factly.
âDonât you have somewhere to be?â he deftly changed the subject and you sighed recognising your dismissal. In all fairness he was right, you were due to meet your friend for lunch in half an hour soâŚ
âOkay, Iâm going.â You padded into the room, over to where he was now knelt on the floor surrounded by various tools and pieces of the crib, and dropped a kiss to his forehead âIâll see you later. Love you.â
Ransom turned his head towards you, his lips brushing yours softly, the annoyance he had displayed seconds ago completely forgotten. âLove you too. Both of you.â
With a smile you headed out of the room and bustled about grabbing your coat, scarf and purse. You stepped outside your home and as you made your way down the gravel drive to your new car, Ransom having finally put his foot down and purchased the Mercedes heâd been eying up for you, you glanced back up at the window of the room that was to be your baby boyâs nursery and pulled out your phone.
âHey Daddy, itâs me. I was wondering if you would do me a favourâŚâ
*****
Ransom would never have thought in a million years that heâd be doing this. Putting together a crib for his unborn son in the nursery that the pair of you had almost completed. Kids had most certainly not been on the agenda. Mind you, neither had marriage. But Y/NâŚwell, sheâd not only done the unthinkable and tamed him away from his play-boy days, sheâd completely and utterly hooked him. And he wasnât ever going to let her get away. So heâd bought a ring, theyâd bought a house togetherâŚand then one drunken night and forgotten pill later wham, heâd knocked her up.
As such here he was, in one of the spare rooms that was no longer spare as it now belonged to his unborn child. The colour was picked, paint was purchasedâŚbut he drew the line at decorating. That was something that happily you had both agreed was to be done by a professional. In an hour heâd managed to get three sides of the crib together. And they were even and matched the photograph perfectly. But this fourth sideâŚthe side that was supposed to go up and down along a set of runners was not playing ball.
âSon of a bitchâŚâ he cursed after what felt like the one hundredth attempt at getting the little wheels to line up âYouâre gonna fucking work you fucking piece ofâŚâ
âRansom?â
He paused as the familiar voice drifted up the large stairs and he gave an exasperated sigh. Of course sheâd called her dad to check in on him.
âIn the nursery.â He called back, a little gruffly. Ransom would never admit this, but the fact that his father-in-law actually cared enough to make the 30 minute drive over to check on him was kind of nice. His own father would have simply sniggered and put the phone down.
But then, Richard Drysdale was an asshole. Y/Nâs father was not. And he most certainly was not going to allow his boy to become one either. Well, not a complete one anywayâŚhe had to have some attitude after all, he was a Drysdale.
âHey Son.â Ransom looked up as Y/Nâs dad walked into the room. âY/N called me before, said you were fixing up the furniture. I thought you might need a hand.â
âShe really doesnât trust me does she?â Ransom snorted and her dad laughed.
âIf itâs any consolation, her mother is exactly the same.â He soothed as Ransom straightened up âAnd I donât think itâs a case of not trusting you. When me and her brother put the crib together for his kid, it was a pain in the ass to get right.â
Ransom inhaled sharply, his hands falling to his hips âDone ok so far.â He replied a little sullenly.
âYeah, I can see.â His father-in-law nodded âI just thought Iâd check. If you donât need me, then I can go.â He held his hands up, palms facing Ransom in a conciliatory manner âI got stuff to do so.â
Ransom watched him turn to leave and followed him out of the room with his eyes. He looked at the final piece of the crib before he gave a soft groan and quickly strode after his wifeâs father.
âActuallyâŚâ he spoke, watching as he paused at the top of the stairs âI canât get the last piece to line up right.â
He stopped short of actually asking for help, but he didnât need to. Y/Fatherâs/Name turned and smiled, patting him gently on the shoulder as he strode back towards the nursery. He stooped to examine the sides and then stood up, pointing.
âThis screw,â he said, and Ransom looked at it,âjust needs tightening. The head is jutting out a little too far. Once itâs flush to the side then the runners should line up.â
Ransom blinked and then sighed, his head hanging dejectedly âSeriously? Thatâs it.â
âHey!â His father-in-law chuckled, âeasy thing to miss. Come on, get it screwed in and Iâll help you lift it. Then I think we can safely say a beer is in order.â He then checked his watch âHuh, might even catch the Red-Sox if weâre lucky.â
At that Ransom perked up a little. Another thing he would never admit was that he enjoyed the way her father would simply do stuff like that with him, things his own dad had never wanted to do. Sit, drink beer, watch a gameâŚtalk.
Fuck, he was going soft.
He picked up the screw driver and knelt down, angling it slightly so he could reach and lined the head up. He gave three sharp screws to the right but on the fourth the screwdriver slipped and he felt a sharp pain in his left hand.
âFuck!â he yelled, drawing back instantly as he glanced down and saw the blood oozing from his palm tracing a path down his wrist.
âHere, let me seeâŚâ Y/Fatherâs/Name stepped forward quickly, reaching for Ransomâs arm. He frowned and then looked at Ransom who had gone pale. âLooks pretty deep.â
Ransom swallowed, taking a deep breath as his head began to spin. Fuck, he hated blood.
âRansom? Son? You okay?â
âI err, I donât feelâŚâ he took another deep breath and then with a thud he hit the floor.
*****
Donât Panic.
If there was ever a phrase do make you do just that, it was those simple two words. Which your dad had uttered when he had called you to tell you there had been an accident and he was on his way to the ER with Ransom. You and your friend abandoned the basket full of baby items youâd indulgently been about to purchase after a cheeky trip to the baby boutique one down from the restaurant youâd eaten in, and youâd rushed out of the store, making your way straight to the hospital. By the time you had located Ransomâs room, your dad was stood outside chatting to a nurse.
âWhat happened?â you demanded and your dad turned to look at you.
âHis hand slipped when he was screwing a part of the crib together.â Your dad offered an explanation. âGave me a scare though, completely out of it he was for a good 2 minutes or so.â
With a soft sigh, you rolled your eyes and pushed the door open. Ransom looked up at you from where he was sat on the bed, his hand heavily bandaged, face pale.
âHey!â you said, making your way to his side. âYou okay?â
âYeah.â He nodded, âJust stabbed myself.â
âMy dad said. What did you do that for?â you frowned.
âIt wasnât like I did it on purpose, sweetheart.â He drawled, narrowing his eyes. âItâs not a big deal. Just waiting for someone to take me down to X-Ray to make sure Iâve not damaged anything majorâ
You arched an eyebrow, a grin playing across your face. âBig enough of a deal to make you pass out from the pain.â
âIt was nothing to do with the pain.â He mumbled sullenly. âYou know I donât like blood.â
You chuckled as you sat on the bed next to him, your hand gently pressing against his forehead. He felt a little clammy. âYeah, youâre gonna be no use what-so-ever when I have the baby.â
âI donât intend on being at that end.â He looked up at you, shrugging.
âNo? You wanna be up there holding my hand, telling me how amazing I am?â you asked, your hand gently running up his neck.
âMaybe.â he replied, his head laying on your shoulder, seeking out comfort like the huge baby he was, his nose nuzzling into your neck.
âGee thanks.â You replied with a scoff
âI just donât wanna see you squeeze a baby out of yourâŚ.you know.â he waved his non bandaged hand, as he moved his head to look at you, a cheeky smirk flickering across his face âI imagine it would be like watching my favourite bar burn down. Knowing that itâs completely wrecked and going to take a while before I can head back in for a drink.â
You blinked as his words registered and then slapped him harshly round the back of the head, causing him to yelp.
âMaybe instead of a fucking x-ray they can scan you for a brain.â You glared at him. âNot that theyâd find one.â
