2. Favourite canon thing about this character?

He's always a supportive teammate, hell or high water. You really see it with Angie. He's always gonna have her back, even when she's a little shady. You see it with Lucas, especially when he backs him as Sergeant. (And recommends Lucas for the internal position. LOVED that little touch. Still leaving his mark even when he's no longer with the force) Literally the best partner and friend anyone could ever ask for

3. Least favourite canon thing about this character?

Can I say shaving that beard

Not that it's anything he did, but the way the whole season 3 arc was done doesn't sit well me. Just the way it was such a quiet jump from he's got bad eyesight to he's sick but we're not gonna tell you what it is (until after he's fine and recovered guess what guys it's all good he's never been better). I can understand him wanting to keep it quiet, he doesn't want or need any pity or extra eyes on him. It's more of a writing issue it just all felt very strange developmentally. Felt like a big deal but a minor plot at the same time. Twas just.... weird in my opinion

12. Headcanons about this character?

Had a dream one time that involved him being allergic to cats. But I'm not adopting that into my personal headcanons (even though it was a little funny) because uh. Oscar and kittens! (A friend and I had a whole conversation about this). Could totally see retired Oscar with some kind of pet. Maybe some nice grown dog in need of a home (does he adopt a retired police dog? Oh maybe) And he definitely kept that fish Angie gave him and expanded the fish family on his post op leave

Also get the feeling he's divorced or at the very least had a very serious relationship go south. Citing when he talks to Lucas when he splits from his wife. And back to where we started the entire end to that episode is just such a perfect friend & partner moment, taking Lucas out for drinks after secretly setting Angie up for dinner with Manny. Ugh I love him so much I need an Oscar in my life

quincy is.. protective of yakumo. in an incredibly obvious way that for some reason everyone but yakumo notices. he’s always looking out for him, making sure he’s safe and happy.

he watched over the serpent when he was training in the forest for idol fest. not just because eiden asked, but because he wanted to. when he found out about the cultist situation, quincy had to leave the room before he snapped the dining room table in half.

arguably the most subtle (which isn’t saying much) way quincy is protective of yakumo is by giving anyone who dares to make him upset the death glare to end all death glares. dante’s not intimidated by much, but the look quincy gave him when he raised his voice at yakumo still gives him nightmares.

kuya picks up on his old friend’s behaviour, but despite how he would usually act, he doesn’t say anything. he understands how quincy feels after all. (he’d never admit this to anyone, but the way he teases and pokes fun at yakumo is actually his own complicated way of boosting his confidence). the last thing he wants is for his remarks about how quincy has gone soft to be aimed back at himself. so he keeps quiet.

rei notices too, and having known quincy for a long time but not getting to know yakumo yet, he finds this stark change in attitude towards people quincy would normally consider troublesome to be very interesting. amusing, almost. he understands quincy’s affection towards eiden, even if he doesn’t quite feel the same way: eiden just has that effect on people. but yakumo? what’s so special about him??

quincy just shrugs and hums in that unbothered way that he does. rei almost thinks he’s not going to answer, which would be typical for him, but it seems the forest guardian is full of surprises lately.

“i don’t know,” quincy sighs, looking at yakumo who is having an animated conversation with topper over food. “he’s kind. quiet. helpful. well-mannered. he’s a good person because he wants to be.”

quincy pauses, like thinking of words to describe his feelings is tiring. “..good cook. nice singing voice. fixes up my clothes without me even asking.”

“plus,” he continues, looking down at rei who quickly schools his expression back into one of mild interest.

“topper likes him.”

“so it’s mostly a convenience thing? you keep him around because he’s useful?”

quincy shrugs again, like he doesn’t care, but the way he smiles when he sees yakumo gently wash topper’s little paws so he can ‘help’ with preparing the food, and the audible fondness in his voice as he says the next words say otherwise.

“…i just like him.”

I had a friend who called me ‘Stargazer’ cus I was always talking about the stars !!

I would send him pictures of the night sky, and told him all about the constellations!

(Which ones were my favorite, the history behind them or how to spot different ones at night, well you know! My dad actually really loved space and bought me my first telescope! I learned a lot from him ♡)

I also had friends who used to call me ‘Belle’ cus “You love books and you look so much like her” !?!

(Their words not mine! Not sure if I do look like her, but I *do* love books !! That is very true!)
