HC meme- Sonic X for the ancient demons/mamodos.

Alm feels weird about being in this place, but he gets used to it pretty quickly.

Victoream... very quickly ends up getting into the Thorndyke household's melons.

Belgim can't be inside due to his size. He thankfully is found after everyone finds out about Sonic and friends.

Alm really, really hates the Metarex.

Chris ends up finding Alm first. And finds out very quickly that the guy can float.

God he was an annoying brat sometimes. The wind mamodo gritted his teeth as he would casually skate. He didn't need to prove anyone how skilled he was. He beats to his own tempo, though something about Robnos always made him feel like he needed to upstage him somehow... Someway. Hyde was doing ollies and nose dives with his board. Trying to do the skills that his book owner has taught him to do. If only he could see him now.... Eventually they arrived at the ruins. Hyde stopped his board as he landed on his feet now problem. Only to roll his eyes as his band swished to one side, letting out a small annoyed groan. Now this was.... Interesting. Hyde gritted his teeth as there was a loud noise came out of no where.

"Thought you said this place was heavily guarded. What the hell was that anyways? Maybe you stopped your feet so hard it made one of the pillars crash or something-"

Hyde placed a hand in his pocket while he grabbed his board with the other. No, this seemed odd. Of course Hyde would pursuit the plan as followed but... Hyde was getting a good look around the place while he hummed.

"Say.... You don't think those savage mamodos are trying to break in? You know those mamodos that were trying to kill King Zatch the first month when he was crowned? Though they got their asses whooped... But, mm maybe they are trying to get some ancient artifacts or something. Could be a guess, seem out of place that no one is here Robnos. We can wait and camp here all we want, probably wont change the outcome-"

It took some time to get there, jumping off buildings - hell even doing some flips every so often - Robnos was flexible enough to do so, but even with his skills - simple one-handed back flips off the building and landing on his feet. He's clearly been practicing - "Wow! You're still slow even with your skateboard~?!" Robnos taunted as he continued his tricks off of the buildings - watching Hyde try and catch up to him. He couldn't help but laugh at watching Hyde try SO HARD to catch up. But Robnos was just faster. But at last! They arrived at the ruins - he did one more backflip off a pillar and landed at the entrance to the ruins - Bowing to the entrance - yet no one was there to even bow to. "AWH, WHAT!?" He screamed and pounded his boot into the sand. "Are you f-" He paused before hearing something crash in the instead which caused him to jump and widen his dark hues. "Ah!" He jumped back a tad. "This is... strange - There's supposed to be a guard at the entrance! Is no one here? There's always people here!"

Maybe they were on a break? But they didn't need to take breaks! People weren't just allowed to walk in the ruins! Not without supervision. Zatch made it CLEAR. "Guess I have to wait...? But... We need to get in there. We have to get in."

"Oh please! You know I am better!" Robnos to Paythemoon

Pamoon eyes narrowed as he let this over grown chihuahua kept barking at him. God what an ego. Though people with egos means that they do fall faster. Plus why does he think he is high and mighty anyways? He wasn't an ancient. Not like him, there was nothing special about this mamodo. Hell, by the looks of it he had the same kind of powers. A beam. Though Pamoon gains his powers through the stars, this guy didn't. Looked like some kind of missionary though. Pamoon placed his hand on his forehead as he began to shake his head slowly. What a fool.

"Oh? You really think so? Are you sure you are just saying that so I can blindly attack you? Then what? Having a clear shot to me? Please. You are all talk and no bite whatsoever. Why don't you scurry off and pick someone who is your own size ya? Or maybe as big as your ego. It reeks."

The ancient mamodo scoffed as he placed his hand on his cheek. This world was strange as it is, though finding all these opponents were even stranger. Pamoon couldn't help but study the other. His armor. To his weird looking helmet. Which was even stranger for a mamodo to wear such. What really got him curious was this guy's motive. There wasn't going to be much gained when it comes to this sort of thing.

you think family trouble is such a prominent thing in shounen because it helps drive home the concepts of friends as family and "true" homes?

that’s probably the case... if anything it sure as hell explains why burrito is like that. they couldn’t figure out anyway to make his character “work” aside from turning his dad into a shitty neglectful father, hence why nart got turned into being so ridiculously OOC even though he’d never treat his son like that, because otherwise they couldn’t figure out a better way to write a plot at all

in ZB’s case at least, it’d explain why there’s so very little depictions of positive family interactions between people/mamodo that are actually blood related. we do get things like the bell twins wanting to mend their lost bond and be a proper family together, but moments like these are few and far between. the whole “friends as family” trope is far more prevalent, with this notably being the central theme of several teams in the manga. there’s how lori outright says that she thinks of kolulu as her little sister after how her parents have been completely neglecting her, dr. riddles treats kiddo as his own son after how he lost the life of his grandson, li-en defying her father’s wishes and treating wonrei as her lover that she’d spend the rest of her life with if she could, etc etc

that being said, i do wish we knew more about the takamine family though. :/ i really do want to know more about what their relationship with kiyo is like and how responsible they are for why he is so troubled the way he is the way he is at the beginning of chapter 1, but the manga never really goes into that so i’m just left with trying to figure out a bunch of headcanon. seitarou really doesn’t do anything after he sends zatch off on an eagle. there’s the part with baltro’s castle that i do really like, but after that he just kind of get some exposition to help set up the whole ancient tablet plot device for the millennium arc and that’s it. aaand it’s obvious that even by the clear note arc, hana still knows jackshit about what’s going on... oh well

if anything though, raiku’s other manga, doubutsu no kuni, really pushes the theme that he believes that family is who you feel you’re at home with and not who you’re related to by blood necessarily. taroza’s bond with his adoptive mother is basically one of, if not the, biggest focal point of the entire manga lol

Character Select from Zatch Bell: Mamodo Battles

Good day all and welcome to another edition of VGM Mondays! Today’s song is Character Select from Zatch Bell: Mamodo Battles. This song plays in the character select screen.

This is one of my favorite songs from the game, which is interesting to me since it’s not even one of the combat themes. The song just gives that sense of anticipation towards the upcoming fights and it’s not even the kind of song that pumps you up. It’s more like a mental prep to look forward. Plus the overall style is pretty unique as well, almost like it’s coming from what appear to be ancient ruins with a bit of a sci-fi theme. Of course, two of the stages take place in ancient ruins and one does have a magic rock in the middle of it so my imagery of the song doesn’t seem too farfetched.

Hyde chuckled a bit, knowing that he has some kind of dirt on Zatch. Still thinks with his heart even with his King position. If he throw that in the mix of things, there will be waterworks. Now for the ancient Mamodo Ruins.... Hyde has known about those places, how they are heavily guarded. Those places were dangerous too, who knows what is roaming around in those things. Maybe they will run into a mummy. Wait a minute....

"How the hell did you get into the Ruins without getting you know- Chewed out by the bigger Mamodos? Do you have some sort of artist pass or something? That info can give us leverage to proceed in our plan."

Oh - this suddenly got really involved. He wasn't expecting that. Well, now he was stuck with Hyde. Okay - sure. But the way he was talking. There is so much HOPE in his voice. So much ambition. But what he said earlier - Ruku... The thought of seeing Ruku again was nice. Yeah! He should be able to see him instead of just being Pen pals! Hell - most of the time Ruku doesn't even message back in a timely manner. Then Robnos is stuck just... Sculpting. Which is fine! He loved sculpting! But ... That's all his life is. Plus school. Which is boring. How can such a vast world of architecture and wonder be SO BORING? But - hm. The more Robnos was thinking about it. Yeah! This could work! But - how? How would they get back to the human realm? "Assuming... You have a plan on this? Do you even have an idea on how we could get back to them?" Robnos smiled bigger - this was getting exciting now! "Don't let me down.. Come on! I only heard a rumor about the mamodo ruins? I've been there a couple times... But mostly for sculpting material! But there's a rumor that deep in the ruins is a mirror! A mirror that is hidden so no mamodo can find it. The mirror holds the power to seek to and from the Human realm! Imagine! Me and you could find it!"

"We .. Can see our bookowners... I can finally live with Ruku! And you can live with Eido! It'll be a dream come true~"
