I've just finished making these ancient Roman inspired "laurel wreath" crowns out of jewel beetle shells and preserved 17 year cicada wings. I've done three of the jewel beetle ones, so one is in my Etsy (link in bio), the cicada wing one is one of a kind so far so I haven't listed it yet. I'm really happy with how these came out!

Copper axe heads. Discovered in the Great Lakes region of the United States. From the Old Copper Culture. Old Copper Culture was active throughout the Great Lakes region from 7500 to 1000 BCE. They mined copper (hence the name) and made arrowheads, axes, fishhooks, bowls, religious iconography and much more with the metal. As time went on the metal became less practical for tool production and took on a more ornamental purpose.
The ancient axes pictured above are located in the Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM).

Ore Creepers
this idea of creepers made out of ore kind of kicked in my brain- the way they would work is sort of similar to the classic elemental creepers mod, where they explode psychically but they turn stone/deepslate/netherrack/endstone into the ore they were made out of and killing them gives you some of the ore that they're made of. i'd love to ultimately expand this idea into modded ores

Jamacoaque Copper Nose Ornaments
These items are unique and seldom exhibited. They are made of solid copper and are very heavy. They have an excellent green patina on all three. The largest shows evidence of original gold plating. Manabi region, Ecuador. 500 BC – 500AD. Condition is Choice. The sizes are 25mm wide, 22mm tall, 20mm thick, 68.8g; 22mm wide, 21mm tall, 15mm thick, 33.5g; and 18mm wide, 15mm tall, 8mm thick, 10g.
The Jamacoaque civilization mastered the art of metallurgy and had a thorough knowledge of alloy production, notably a well-developed alloy of copper and arsenic. They were also well-versed in the process of gold plating. The method employed for casting metal was placing it in a ceramic crucible and heating it using wood charcoal as fuel. Air was blown into the kiln with a bamboo tube until the temperature reached 1100ºC, sufficient to melt gold or copper.

Mesolithic Harpoon Head, 4500 BCE, Stewartry Museum, Kirkcudbright, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland
This is a 6500 year old harpoon made from a Red Deer antler and found in the River Dee. It is of a similar type of harpoon to those found in Mesolithic caves or rock shelters near Oban. This piece has been carbon dated to around 4500 BCE.
