American Black Duck (Anas rubripes) in Algonquin Provincial Park. They may look like Female Mallards, but American Black Ducks are actually a different species. The easiest way to tell is by the colour of their bills, Mallard females have orange and black mottled bills where the Black Ducks have greenish bills. They also have darker feathers overall, as suggested by their name. This species is a more common Duck in Algonquin than Mallards. . I've just posted Part 2 of Algonquin Observations from this Summer. . . . . . . . #nature #ontario #americanblackduck #anasrubripes #algonquinparkcanada #algonquinprovincialpark #duckphoto #duckphotos #blogwriting #blognorfolk #ducksofig #ducksofcanada (at Algonquin Park, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CS2iTpRpJRQ/?utm_medium=tumblr
