brain will not let me sleep until I say
same age padawans au where they’ve been in a weird wired frenemies thing for ages but now that they’re both mature adults (all of 24/25 years old) they’re more friends than enemies….
And it’s Obi-Wan that Anakin tells when he’s decided he’s going to leave the Order, not anyone else. He has a wife. There was a pregnancy scare a few weeks ago and it made her want their relationship to stop being a secret so they could really have kids. He has to leave the Order. Doesn’t Obi-Wan understand?
Obi-Wan, who has been a little in love with Anakin since they were younglings, does not understand. Not one bit. Instead of wishing him well and helping him pack, he goes to the Council and requests a mission in the Outer Rim….perhaps a month long or more…perhaps undercover? No contact with anyone on Coruscant. And maybe they could assign Anakin Skywalker as his back up? He can help with the undercover aspect.
And at first, Anakin is pissed because he was planning to resign from the Order in the next few days, but Obi-Wan convinces him to go on this mission with him….one last mission as a Jedi. To say goodbye to the Jedi life.
Obviously, Obi-Wan sort of wants to go on one last mission with Anakin because in his dreams, he wants the mission to go so perfectly that Anakin stays with him the Order. But realistically, he mostly wants to go on this mission to say goodbye to Anakin and then let him go, soaking up all his warmth and light, memorizing every casual touch bestowed on him because he knows they’re ticking down to the last handful of seconds together.
But then obviously the mission works TOO well and Anakin falls in love with Obi-Wan but doesn’t admit to it even to himself before they’re on the ship about to head back to Coruscant and Anakin realizes he doesn’t want to leave this planet because he doesn’t want to leave Obi-Wan if it could always be like this so he crashes the ship during take off so they can stay longer because he’s 24 and doesn’t know how to handle the immensity of his love except through destruction

Heaping trays were brought and once the servants had quietly exited, taking their curious faces with them, Padme moved to the center of the large carpet to look at all the people around her.
“I think,” she began, “That I would like to hear exactly what happened from your perspective fifteen years ago.”
She looked to her husband who was free now of Braxten’s ministrations and sporting a tidy white bandage up the length of his arm.
He nodded seriously.
“Very well. Yes.” He took a breath and she saw that he still felt horror just as she did. “I’m sorry,” he said, meeting her eyes. “This…even though I know now it wasn’t real—-it…was. Too real.”
She knew this well.
Could they possibly move ahead with such terrible memories? With such terrible consequences from those memories?
“We need to know,” she said softly.

those pictures give me rabé's vibes, mainly the style &. expressions, always littering her physique with rich garnements, not willing to submit, just genuinely fair, not apologetic when imparting sarcastic responses to potential menaces under her harpy–like gaze. this side only appears if discussions touches a fragile nerve or if somebody humbly demands how to portray rabene's loyalty to padmé, terms like unwavering engagement or voluntarily serving without complaints merely catch its full extent — her loyalty's equal to a true planner of remorseless vengeances, not ashamed to utilize deceit to garner military or political knowledge to level up in strength, not hesitating to pick up chocking methods to eliminate nuisances for the senator, chasing enemies to decipher their intentions &. having fun with getting rid of those abominations ain't frightening options but justified choices. her observant eyes resemble a warning's look to reminder others to not cross boundaries or swords will do the job. the voice of truth might rely on the genius of her spouse known as the fearless quixotic hero as her unconditional protector, but everyone forgets the wardrobe mistress who represents a phantom–like tracker able to obtain the necessary instruments to ensure that people're safe, rabene's the unflinching warrior convinced to honor &. remains dutiful.

Baylan:“ What about Shin? Is she save? Is she alright?“
Sabine standing with him on burned ground, Peridea crumbling into dust around them`
Sabine: „ Really? You think she is okay after all of this? You abadonned her in a wasteland, then unleashed a darkside god on all of us! Ahsoka is gone everyone on this planet is gone? And now your worried that Shin is not alright?“
Baylan hears the son whisper: „ It seems in your anger you might have killed her?“

In the assigned married fic, has Anakin even begun to process Padme saying that both of them will be moving to Naboo together? Like, they spoke earlier in the chapter about Anakin moving in with her on Coruscant, but Obi-Wan apparently spilled the beans about a much more permanent relocation to Naboo, and I am looking forward to Anakin's response to that, once he gets through processing everything else and remembers that part of the "conversation"....
i think padmé views moving to naboo more as a possibility than a future concrete plan -- the offer to be a permanent advisor on naboo is something she'd like to discuss with anakin as her husband before taking it or rejecting it. she says there's a lot of work she still wants to do in the senate, and she's probably thinking that it will be a few years before she would be able to go anyway. definitely after the war, but in her mind, she thinks anakin has every intention to leave the order after the war's over....because he kind of told her that. at least, in her mind he did: (from chapter 1)
“[Obi-Wan] asked me if I planned to leave the Order after the war,” he tells his wife. “And I lied, and then I think he began to support me. That’s what he looked like, anyway.” Padmé blinks at him, eyelashes falling slowly onto the jut of her cheek and then rising. “That’s good then,” she says, sounding hesitant. “That he supports us.” “Yeah,” Anakin replies, raising his hand to tuck a tendril of hair behind her ear. “Though…I’m sorry you had to lie,” she says, pressing forward until their faces are only a hand’s width apart. “Hopefully…” she trails off, biting her lip. Then she shakes her head slightly, and her mouth turns up into a smile as if she cannot help herself. “Hopefully he will not take the truth so hard.”
so anakin never says what lie he told obi-wan, he just says that he lied when asked if he was going to leave the Order, and that lie made obi-wan support him.
from an outsider's perspective, especially a biased outsider who is married to one of the insiders and believes them to have a future together, padmé's immediate understanding of this is that obi-wan asked if he was going to leave the order and anakin lied to him and told him he planned to stay and obi-wan began to support their marriage because he thinks he won't be losing anakin (padmé, who has three braincells, has long since realized obi-wan's obsessed with her husband)
and that's why she's smiling at the end (and also why they have sex at the fade to black) -- she believes anakin has just told her that when the war ends, he'll leave the Order to be with her and build a future together <3 so the offer to go to naboo is an option she can talk to her husband about, but she knows that anakin is going to no longer be a jedi....and if he's not a jedi, and she's not a senator....what's keeping them on coruscant?
BUT it's not just obi-wan that's feeling a bit catty during that dinner party scene, so i intentionally wrote padmé as putting this idea forward as less of a possibility and more of a done deal that she knows anakin will accept -- she talks about it like it's great big BACK OFF signs picketed around anakin because obi-wan is the biggest threat to their marriage in the entire galaxy and she's always known that
(but also no anakin has not begun to process that whole thing - but padmé, who now realizes they're NOT on the same page, is absolutely going to bring it up post-haste in the next chapter)

“Oh, Firmus,” said the Queen, moving toward the windows where the winter afternoon was rapidly becoming twilight. “Anakin was always rubbish with communication. I see he still cannot seem to voice your worth.”
She turned back to him, tilting her glossy head, studying him.
“He depends on you and Veers. You think I do not know this?”
Piett shrugged his shoulders uncomfortably.
“Even if that were true, Your Majesty, my capture does not aid your cause. They will either come for me or they will carry on without me.”
“Oh I am counting on them to come for you, Captain,” she replied, coming closer to him. “I suspect I know exactly who they’ll send. And we will be ready.”
He didn’t like how certain she sounded. How resolute and cold.
“You will not succeed,” he answered tightly, hating what she’d become, and so what he said next he said from a desperate and sad heart. “Padme, please . Have you not done enough awful damage…?”
“ Me? ” she snarled, her lovely face darkening in fury. “How dare you! How can you even…! You abandoned us. You abandoned SOLA, you bastard… !”

"We just got married."
"We did."
Anakin sat on the edge of the bed and she moved at stand in between his legs, absentmindedly caressing the soft skin of his cheek, lost in thought whilst staring so softly at him he felt he could melt.
She seemingly snapped back to reality and a wide grin spread across her face.
"Maker, we just got married Ani!"
She quickly launched at him, tackling him to the bed knocking the breath out of him but he felt a smile forming on his own face at her delighted laugh in his neck as she clung to him.
Carefully she moved off him and laid down on her side, Anakin doing the same facing her.
"Anakin Skywalker," she smiled adoringly "My husband."
He reached out with his hand to brush her hair out of her face, leaning forward to rest his forehead against hers.
He whispered her name with reverence, and it felt almost unreal how much love he felt for her, "My wife."

Apart from the fact that Padmé had said she knew she’d no longer be allowed to serve in the senate, Anakin saying he wanted to leave the Jedi and be with Padmé, and Padmé outwardly saying that she wanted to raise her and Anakin’s kids on Naboo, and run away with him to the Lake Country (it’s even stated so by Trisha Bigger in Dressing a Galaxy, when asked about what Padmé’s funeral dress was supposed to symbolize):
Tumblr media
We do see a bit more implications within the ROTS novel that tell us how Padmé and Anakin were keen on leaving behind duty, to live together peacefully, and raise their kids.
Tumblr media
In this scene of the novel, we see that OW is encouraging Padmé to watch over Anakin (as he’s growing more concerned of his mental state) and somewhat asks her to “leave him” because her relationship to him strains his position as a Jedi, and it would be a mistake if he left. Padmé insists that it doesn’t matter, because Anakin is said to be the chosen one, therefore he would remain a Jedi as so the prophecy states. But on the contrary, OW tells her that he’s scanned the prophecy and it’s no where said that the chosen one had to be a Jedi. At this point, the parts I’ve highlighted shows to us how Padmé begins to hope, that she describes as desperate and leaving her breathless. She now knows that Anakin, her husband, doesn’t need to remain in the Order to complete his legacy as the chosen one. Leaving more room for her to hope for the future that she and Anakin so desperately crave together.
Up until now, Padmé didn’t want to take Anakin away from his duty and responsibilities as a Jedi, partly because of the Republic and it’s reliance on him, but mostly because she didn’t want to take away his dream of being a Jedi. Part of this feeling also stems from the prophecy stating that Anakin IS the chosen one. Knowing how Padmé is very prone to justice, and helping the galaxy especially for those in need of saving. It’s not hard to put two and two together that she’d feel guilt for making Anakin choose her over fulfilling his mission as the chosen one. (Even though to Anakin, there was never a choice. He would inevitably always choose Padmé.) This passage alone gives her the hope and confirmation she’s always desperately wanted that Anakin didn’t have to remain a Jedi to be the chosen one. So she feels a sense of relief knowing she can still have him, run away with him, and at the same time, not take him away from the grand destiny he was always meant for.
Tumblr media
In this passage^^ Anakin also mentions that he and Padmé have talked about what would happen now that she was pregnant, and he says that they’ve decided that they would remain in their respective positions for as long as they could until the secret was no longer concealable. Another implication of how they HAVE talked about leaving their duties behind in favour of running away together. The result was made from the circumstances Anakin was in of course. He wanted to stay in the Order longer to find a way to save Padmé. Padmé only wanted to keep it a secret to protect Anakin, so that he could stay in the Order. (No mention of herself or her duty.)
Tumblr media
Padmé had already gone through the consequences her pregnancy would lead too, and she didn’t care for them. She says she’d be “relieved” of her senatorial duties, and she made her peace with it. She was ready to move on and begin her life with Anakin. She was only worried for what everything would mean for Anakin. She was worried what it would do for him, and he, of course, decided that he didn’t care either. He also just wanted to run away with his wife and be together as one big family.
Tumblr media
In Padmé’s words:
“Come away with me, leave everything else behind while we still can.”
