#anakin would absolutely have beef with Din

As much as I love the “Anakin hates Han but loves Din” headcanons it’s honestly probably the other way around.
Like, Din’s sorta got almost everything going against him when you stop and think about it, you know? He’s a bounty hunter (and Anakin, who was born a slave, is probably incredibly distrusting of bounty hunters), and on top of that he’s a Mandalorian bounty hunter. A Child of the Watch Mandalorian bounty hunter. Anakin doesn’t exactly have a good history with Death Watch and Children of the Watch, or just like, Mandalorians in general. And it’s not exactly like Din has the most stellar morals. Din’s got an honor code, yeah, and he does a lot for his Tribe, but he does, can, and will kill people for money, and he’s not exactly picky about his jobs or who he gets them from. Han was just a spice runner. He wasn’t taking bounties from the Hutts or the Empire like Din. Plus, you gotta remember, Din does everything in his power to stay out of conflict and politics. He’s not Han or Anakin. He didn’t drop everything to go rescue a princess and join a rebellion, or save a queen and help free her planet from an illegal occupation. Plus, Din hates droids. You’re gonna tell me Anakin Skywalker, certified droid lover, would look at Din, known droid hater, and go “welcome to the family :)”
Anakin wouldn’t hate Din, he’s got some good things going for him, but Din would for sure be on thin fucking ice for a long time.
#I think Din also being friendly with the tuskens would for sure not help#anakin would absolutely have beef with Din#padme wouldn’t like Din either but I feel like she’d warm up to him quicker#you know bc of the whole darksaber thing#dinluke#din djarin#luke skywalker#anakin skywalker#star wars#the mandalorian

Okay got a couple points on this one,
1. Padme is absolutely bugfuck insane to the same level as Anakin if not more so. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if she found the fact he slaughtered an entire village to avenge his loved ones as a feature. Because people forget that Padme was just as invested in keeping all this a secret for her political career as Anakin was for his Jedi status.
2. That Tusken tribe was violent as fuck and Cliegg had already gathered up a posse of 20+ dudes and was one of like 2 or 3 survivors and was permanently crippled in the attempt. If you think that wouldn't have been a continual problem from that particular tribal culture continuing I'm sorry but you need a reality check. Several later works focusing on Tatooine state that the Lars homestead was untouched as Taboo land up to nearly a century after Anakin went Hotline Miami on them. But what about the tribe Boba found in BoBF and the ones Din reasoned with in Mando? I hear you ask They prove Tuskens are thinking sentients and capable of innocence Yes, those tribes. Tatooine is a fucking planet and much like doing so in real life with native tribes from North America and Africa treating them as a homogenous mas is both reductive and insulting. It's stated numerous times in supplemental books that different Tusken tribes have different outlooks regarding outsiders that vary from being open to trading to unquestioning merciless hostility.
3. Shmi was fucked up, Anakin is a human being. He found her strung up like a side of beef and looking like she'd been run over by a combine harvester. Force powers or not he would have gone apeshit, lightsaber or no and trying to paint his mental and emotional state after finding his mother tortured to death is ignorant at best and active character assassination at worst. If you found your mother dead at the hands of senseless violence and had the power to slaughter her killers are you really saying you'd do any different? And before you say he's a Jedi and needs to be held to a higher standard, it's well established he only stays in the order out of obligation and both he and Obi-Wan discussed it and both came to the conclusion it would be better if he left. He wanted to become a Jedi so that he could prevent the exact type of thing his mother experienced from happening and was shut down with abstract morality.
4. Obi-Wan is an awful authority figure. He's a good well meaning person but it's well established he's really bad at dealing with anyone's issues outside of functioning as a Jedi. When Anakin tries to approach him at all fir help with emotional issues he immediately shuts him down. It's shown in any media where we get a look at his thought process that Obi-Wan does frequently come to the correct conclusions he immediately forces them down and tries to shove them into compliance with the Jedi code as reflex probably stemming with a rejection complex born of being mishandled both by the temple as a whole and especially Qui-Gon. Building on that, Padme had similar issues when Anakin tried to vent to her and had a lot of problems with denial in her life in general but especially relating to making her relationship with Anakin work. If she did tell Obi-Wan (which she didn't want to until it was already to late as we see in RotS) who knows what the consequences would be. Even without Palpatine getting his claws into him it's most likely that Anakin would have just run from a combination of Obi-Wan's orthodox Jedi response and Padme's breach of trust and at that point who knows what kind of trouble he would have gotten into with his entire support network gutted.
I love Padme but every time someone asks "Well, who was she supposed to tell about the Tuskens?" I'm just.
Obi-Wan.
She should have told Obi-Wan.
And also maybe not married the baby murderer after telling him "everyone gets angry sometimes" to make him feel better about having committed baby murder. I ship it and I understand her choices, I just. Baby murder happened. There are dead babies and it's Anakin's fault.
I love Padme and I love Anakin but she made the wrong call there.
