“you are more than you know” CH. 5
Tumblr media
A/N: I couldn’t wait to start writing this chapter so, I didn’t. This is my favorite chapter so far and I hope you all like how the story is progressing!
Side note: I probably should’ve categorized this as a dark/possessive! Ani fic. My bad :/. But yeah, if dark! characters are not your thing, i wouldn’t read this.
Summary: Reader grows increasingly wary of her force bond with her master. Mando tries to help her escape her past, and it definitely doesn’t go to plan.
Pairing: Darth Vader x f! Reader, Mando x f! Reader
Warnings: angst, fluff, dark!ani, choking, drowning, threats, mentions of murder and dying, dom/sub undertones, crying, swimming, hand holding, manipulation, almost passing out.
The hazy sun started to set on Corvus and the Mandalorian had retired to his quarters for some well deserved rest. You both planned on figuring out your course of action the next day. As you laid on the hard metal, with a thermal blanket wedged in between your back and the floor, you found it nearly impossible to sleep. Your mind was racing as you replayed every moment with Anakin over and over in your head, with a new perspective. After a few restless hours the sun creeped on to the horizon ahead. You decided to sit by the little pond outside the ship to get some fresh air. The crunch of branches and debris echoed around you as you made your way to a tree stump by the pond. You rested your head on your hand as you watched the little ripples float by. You thought about the last time you had gone swimming, and honestly you couldn’t remember. You forgot what the cold rush of natural water felt like. You took off your boots and treaded carefully to the water’s edge. You sat in the slightly damp dirt and dipped your feet into the water. In an instant your splitting headache was back. Oh no, this can’t be good. You felt yourself being dragged by your feet into the water. You flipped over in an attempt to claw your way out but the force that pulled you was too strong. Your head was submerged and your surroundings went dark as you screwed your eyes shut. You panicked, thrashing about trying to get whatever it was off of you. You could hear the water moving wildly around you. Suddenly you felt pressure on your throat, you couldn’t distinguish what it was. You opened your eyes, expecting to find some hideous sea creature. A face appeared in the rippling flashes of light from the rising sun. Anakin.
Your muffled screams did little to detour him. The pressure around your neck increased, and your thrashing became sporadic. His laugh bounced around your head. “Don’t make me do this, bunny.” His smile was blinding in the water’s reflection. “Tell me I’m what you want. We both know it’s true…let’s make this easy on both of us, hmm?” Your screams became louder and more desperate, despite knowing their lack of effect on the surface. Anakin squeezed your throat with even more force and you knew you were done for. “If you don’t come with me right now, I will kill your fucking Mandalorian and kidnap you if I have to.” You placed your hand on your throat, expecting to feel his hand there, but all you felt was your skin. You tried one last attempt at saving yourself, mustering up what little strength you had left. Through the force you spoke to him. “Anakin, please, don’t do this to me.” The pressure around your neck was ripped away and he looked at you with a stunned expression. “Where did you hear that? How dare you call me by that name! You have no idea who you’re dealing wi...”
Anakin didn’t have time to finish his sentence before you were being pulled out of the water by Mando. You were barely coherent, coughing and throwing up water. Mando laid you on your side and propped you up on his thighs to prevent you from choking again. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. You thought to yourself. Mando shook you and called out your name, waiting for your reply to a question he asked about a minute ago. “Y/N, Y/N! Are you ok?” he asked in a rather frazzled, out of character tone. You held out a thumbs up and tried to roll off his legs and sit up straight. You plopped on to your butt and stared at the now placid pond. What the fuck?, you thought to yourself, you hadn’t realized that you said it out loud. “Um, yeah! What the fuck was that? “ Mando practically yelled. You shook your head and shrugged your shoulders in defeat. You nearly died, he almost killed you. Mando interrupted your inner monologue, “Do you not know how to swim or something?” you nodded, “Yes, I do know how to swim.”, your voice was so hoarse you barely even recognized it. You coughed again. Mando froze. You practically fell backwards when Mando grabbed your face and examined your neck. “Kriff! What the fuck happened to your neck?” You freaked out. “Is it bad? Maker…how bad is it Mando?”. He kept moving your head around to get a better look at it. “You look like you got choked, or something. Did an animal attack you?”. You laughed, “Yeah, he’s an animal alright.” Mando paused, “He?…no, don’t tell me this was Vader?” your gaze dropped to the ground. The Mandalorian let go of your face, “how?”, he asked quietly. You shook your head and shrugged again, “I really don’t know,. One minute I was putting my feet in the water, the next he was trying to kill me.” Mando leaned back against the stump you were sitting on earlier and let out a sigh. Tears filled your eyes as the severity of the situation set in. “Mando, what do I do? I can’t hide from him…he’s going to kill me!” You scooted closer to him and placed your hand on his shoulder. “Thank you for saving me, but I’m sorry you had to in the first place. I -I don’t know how to tell you this…”. Mando removed his gaze from his shoulder to your face, “what?” he asked roughly. “He, um, he told me he’s going to kill you too. He’s going to kill you and take me with him.” Mando laughed incredulously, “You’re joking? What do I have to do with this?”. You sighed and said , “I know, I’m so sorry for getting you into this. But I just know he’s going to kill everyone in his way, and right now, you’re the only one stopping him.” Mando deflated into the dead tree stump and thought to himself. Silence fell between you as you awaited Mando’s next words. He huffed and looked at you, “I guess I’m in this now, there’s no point in turning back.” You looked up at him in surprise. He continued, “If we’re going up against Darth Vader, I think we’re gonna need some extra help. Don’t you?”. He tilted his head and you gave him an appreciative smile. “Yes, I think so too.”.
The shipped jumped into hyperspace as you sat next to Mano in the cockpit. You looked to your left and found him already staring at you, “So Mando, where exactly are we going?”. He tapped his covered fingers nervously on the seat’s armrests. “We’re going to Tatooine, to…see some friends of mine.” You jolted out of your seat and stood, panicked. “T-tatooine?” you squeaked out. Mando nodded, “…yeah? Is there something wrong with Tatooine?”. You sat back down and tried to shake off your fears, “no, nothing wrong.”, you gave Mando a weak smile. You hadn’t been back to Tatooine since you joined the Empire, would people recognize you? Probably not, you thought. You were just a slave there, a nobody, surely you wouldn’t have a problem. Mando could see the cogs in your head turning. “What’s wrong, mesh’la?” he asked. You hummed, “Nothing, I just. I was born on Tatooine and I haven’t been back since….since I joined the you know what.” He nodded, “I understand.” Mando reached over to your seat and held your hand. You were shocked, but you didn’t move away out of fear the you might scare him away like a spooked horse. You gave his gloved hand a soft squeeze. You felt safer than you had in a while.
The sand kicked up in your face, sweat dripped down your arms. You had asked Mando to stop at a market so you could change out of your tight uniform and get some weather appropriate attire. You stopped at a stall boasting womenswear. A beautiful, flowing, deep blue set caught your eye. The sight of loose pants practically made you drool in this weather. You picked up the airy outfit and made your way to the store keeper. You dug through your satchel looking for your credit pouch when you heard, “Y/N?”. Kriff. You raised your gaze to the voice to find an old friend of yours. “Maker! V! What are you doing here?” You practically jumped on him. You greeted each other with a warm embrace. “It’s so wonderful to see you, Y/N. Where have you been?” You laughed, “I’ve been out and about….hey! Do you own this place?”. He nodded and you replied, “Oh V! You did it! You always wanted to sell your beautiful clothing. I’m so proud of you!”, you both hugged again. You felt V stiffen around you, “What? What is it?” you asked. He whispered, “There’s a Mandalorian staring at you…are you in trouble? Cause I can help you if you are.” You laughed at both his worry and protectiveness. “It’s ok V, he’s with me.”. V pulled back from the embrace and cocked his eyebrow. “No, no not like that!” you rolled your eyes. “Ok…”, he moved on, not believing a word you said. You lifted up the blue fabric, “This outfit is gorgeous, V. How much?” He laughed and took it from your hands, “For you? Nothing. But you have to let me help you style it. You never knew how to dress.” This time he rolled his eyes. You giggled, “C’mon V, let me support you, let me pay.” He shook his head, “Absolutely not. Plus, once everyone sees how beautiful you look in this, they’ll want to know where you got it from!” You both laughed this time, and you followed him into the tent at the back of the stall. Before you stepped in, you turned around to let Mando know it was ok. You could tell he was on edge and you gave him a small wave of reassurance. The tent felt cool compared to the harsh suns blaring outside. V helped you unzip, “What hell are you even wearing?“ he asked incredulously. You turned to face him , “What? You don’t like it?”. He contemplated before he spoke, “No it’s cute and all, but it’s…it’s just not you.” His comment hit you like a ship in hyperdrive. With everything that had been going on recently, you felt attacked by what he said. You knew it wasn’t you, yet you continued to pretend it was. Why? Before you could finish your thought V spoke. “Mm mm mm, I’m good.” You spun around in the mirror, “You do know what you’re doing.” you admitted. V told you to wait as he left the tent to retrieve some accessories. “Here.”, he said placing a matching veil across your face to help block the sand. “It’s beautiful.”, you said turning to give him a hug. “Thank you for this.”, he squeezed you a little harder and whispered, “I know something’s up with you, I see the red marks around your neck. Tell me. What’s going on with you.”. You tensed up and V continued to speak, “If you don’t want to tell me, it’s fine, I get it. But if something is wrong, you can always come to me.”. You both pulled back and you smiled at him, “I’m ok V, I swear. Thank you for this and for looking out for me.”, “Of course, Y/N. Please, be safe out there.”. You gave each other one last hug before you left the tent.
Your Mandalorian was exactly where you left him, leaning against a clay building. His head was torn from whatever scuffle was happening down the street to meet your gaze. He immediately straightened off the wall at the sight of you. His reaction made your heart race. Kriff. Was he always that tall? I wonder if he’s actually that tall or if his armor adds extra height? Mando’s hands fidgeted as you approached him. “All good?” you asked in reference to the street fight he had been watching. Mando gripped is vembramce strap and felt his throat grow scratchy. “Mando?”, he was building up the courage to speak to you. “Sorry, Y/N. Yeah, it’s all good.” he lazily pointed in the fight’s general direction. His actions made you furrow your brow in confusion, “Yeah…ok, big guy. Let’s get you out of the sun.” you grabbed his elbow and started pulling him back in the direction of the ship. He followed behind you, secretly berating himself for fumbling his words in front of you, again. The walk to the ship was quiet and you could feel Mando’s eyes burning into your bare midsection. You walked with a little more sway in your hips, just to see if anything interesting might happen. It didn’t. As soon as you both arrived on the ship Mando threw out a quick apology and excused himself to his quarters. Your face warmed with embarrassment, you worried you made him uncomfortable and quickly regretted the show you had put on. You hid in your make shift room, which was really just a corner in the cargo hold. You laid down on the thermal blanket and quickly drifted off to sleep.
Your throat was scratchy when you awoke, you guessed it was from the new, sandy environment. It was still light outside so you figured you hadn’t slept long. “Mando?”, you called out. No response. You walked to the cockpit to find a note on your seat. “Headed out to meet my friends. I’ll be back later.”. Your shoulders dropped in disappointment, you had hoped you could clear the air with him and mend whatever you had broken before. You look up from the note to stare at the sandy abyss outside the window. A figure appeared in the mist. You squinted and moved closer to the glass to get a better look at the advancing form. The dust around the ominous mirage settled and you were able to make out a distinct shape. At first you thought it was Mando but as the person approached the ship, you realized their robes were black and flowing, a stark contrast to your Mandalorian’s silver beskar armor. The figure stopped its movement about 50 yards away from the ship, hooded head facing you. You rubbed your eyes in disbelief, astounded by what was in front of you. You ran to put your shoes on. You lowered the ramp to exit the ship and bounded towards the figure. You halted your running 30 feet away. The man turned to face you and you gasped as he produced a saber from his robes. A hazy red light appeared and quickly closed in on you. It took you a second to process what was happening, but you swiftly responded by turning in the opposite direction and running. The saber and the maniac wielding it gained ground behind you. You couldn’t breathe as your gut instincts and adrenaline forced you to run even faster. Almost as if you ran into an invisible wall you involuntarily fell backwards on to the sand. You heard rapid footsteps approaching you. You scrambled to get off the dunes and on to your feet when you came face to face with the end of the red saber. “Gotcha.”

Ignite the Stars (Chapter 1)
Series: The Illusion of Day
Rating: T
Fandom: Star Wars Prequels
Genre: Canon AU
Characters: Anakin Skywalker/Padme Amidala
Title: Chapter 1: Brave
***
Coruscant city center, five months before the Massacre
Padmé is 21; Anakin is 19
The last time she sees him, she is 21, he is 19, and she feels invincible.  She has been officially sworn in as senator of Naboo, and she can’t stop grinning.  It’s silly, really to be this happy--she’s been a junior senator for years and this had all but been official years before, but the realness of it all makes her feel giddy.  Bail takes her to dinner that night in celebration, but she still feels the buzzing in her veins.  Anakin laughs at her when she tells him-”I’ve never seen anyone so excited about a lifetime of politics”-and her half-hearted smack only makes him laugh harder, eyes bright, a crinkle at the corner of his lips she’d like to kiss.  She won’t of course, because not even becoming a senator has made her that brave, though she’s considered it more than she should admit.  It does, however, make her brave enough to ask him to go out with her that night.  (It’s a group,” she tells him, “a bunch of politicians--you’d love it”).  He agrees easily, and she thinks maybe they’re both a little brave when she coaxes him into wearing something she calls civilian and Anakin calls ridiculous.  (It’s pants and a shirt, hardly different than what he wears normally sans cloak, tabard, and the thing he claims is an obi--really the layers are ridiculous.)  She figures the teasing goes hand in hand with him saying yes, so she just grins at him.
The club is loud and dark, and she has to shout to be heard, but the pulsing hum of the music matches the thrum in her veins.  Her friends scatter when they arrive, and she is left to slide her hand into Anakin’s and tug him after her.
The night passes in a blur.  She dances with her friends, which Anakin declines with a smile, as he does to her offer of a drink.  He does watch her through, eyes dark and face still.  Her friend, a secretary in Bail’s office she’s known for ages, follows her gaze as they dance.  “Where’d you dig him up?  He’s gorgeous!”
“He’s a friend,” she shouts, loud enough to be heard over the music.  The words taste strange in her mouth, but she finishes, “from home.  When we were kids.”
She doesn’t feel much like dancing after that, and he follows without comment when she leads him to a row of chairs  beside the stage.  She spends the rest of the evening consciously not touching him, but his warmth bleeds across the space between them and she can feel his eyes on her.
He walks her home that night, hands in his pockets, and even though she’s tempted, she doesn’t thread her arm through his.  She thinks she’s used enough bravery for one night.
Except not, apparently, because she has enough left that when he stops outside her door, the humming in her head reaches a peak and then everything stills.  She goes up on her toes to kiss him (she forgets, sometimes, how impossibly large he is), right where his smile hides in the corner of his lips.  It lingers a moment, and he is stiff and still and she closes her eyes so she can’t see his face until she drops down.
“Goodnight Anakin,” she tells him, and closes her door before he can respond.  She has used up what’s left of her bravery for tonight.
She doesn’t see him for 7 years.  He leaves the morning after she kisses him for the first time with Obi-Wan on some sort of mission.  She gets this information from Palpatine--the Jedi are close lipped, but the Chancellor cares for Anakin and he’s always had a soft spot for her, so he is free with information when she asks.  She is angry that he hadn’t bothered to leave her a message, that he would have had the audacity to be afraid of her (of them, of this), but when Bail passes her his datapad with a raised eyebrow and a “have a good evening?” she suddenly understands.  The picture isn’t a terribly good one--the lighting is bad and Anakin is almost out of the frame, and the caption is about the music and not them, but her mouth goes dry and the humming starts again (and this is even more ridiculous) and she swears she can taste him.  Bail is gracious enough not to say anything else, just takes the datapad back when she doesn’t say anything, and turns the conversation to the senate committee hearing later that afternoon.  (She saves the picture later, in the darkness of her apartment.  It is the only one she ever has of him.)

“you are more than you know.”
Tumblr media
Notes: Hiiii! So this is literally my first time writing on here, and I have no clue what I’m doing so please go easy on me. I took an insane amount of liberty with the timeline in this story, so if you’re a stickler for correct chronology I suggest that you don’t read this. I tried to proof read this as much as I could but I’m sorry for the mistakes that I missed. Please tell me how I can improve my writing to make it easier to understand. This is the first of what I hope to be a few more chapters….idkkkk we’ll see how this is received. Please bare with me when it comes to the timeline, hopefully it’ll make more sense later on.
Update: Chapter 3 is live!
Summary: Reader becomes Darth Vader’s padawan as she journeys to find stability and acceptance. This is first chapter is essentially a preface with background info on the story and the character. Pairing: Darth Vader x f! Reader, Mando x f! Reader (i know, i know, bare with me)
Warnings: angst, fluff, use of Y/N, abuse, enslavement, nicknames like “good girl, bunny, little one”, slight dom/sub dynamics, alcohol, death, public embarrassment, crying. This is a mess.
When you turned 18, you came to the Empire in search of stability and community. Your enslaver had agreed to let you go on your 18th birthday and begrudgingly stayed true to his word. Upon arrival at the nearest Imperial base on Tatooine you were asked to prove yourself worthy of the Empire. You were given weapons and an opponent. Your opponent was a girl, roughly the same age as you. She wore a training set similar to yours. She was quick and ruthless with her attacks, and you struggled to keep up. You collected yourself and focused your mind to try and out smart her, but the punches kept coming. She drew a knife from her waist band and threw it across the room, aiming at your face. You sensed it was coming, and willed it to stop mid-air. The tip of the dagger was mere inches from your nose and the room stood in deafening silence. A platoon leader who was watching the fight quickly left the room and returned just a minute later with someone whom you could tell was a much higher rank. He smiled as he approached you, and you stiffened under his gaze. He circled you as he spoke, “Did you know you possessed this ability, dear?” he said. “Yes.” you said in a slightly embarrassed tone, realizing you probably should’ve mentioned it prior to your altercation. He turned around and wagged a finger towards you, prompting you to quickly follow him down a shiny black hallway. The two of you reached a pair of ominous metal doors, the man turned to you and said “There are some people who would like to meet you.” . You braced yourself for what, or who lay behind the door. An elongated table similar to the the color of the hallway stretched out in front of you. You looked around the long table at the various people and creatures who sat stiffly in their black uniforms. You felt a chill run down your spine as everyone’s eyes turned to you, and you suddenly felt extremely underdressed in your Empire issued training set. You stepped to the middle of the room expecting to be interrogated as to your behavior in the fighting ring. Your hairs stood on the back of your neck as you heard heavy breaths behind you. “Face me, my child.” Your heart stopped. You knew exactly who was speaking, and it frightened you to no end. You turned to face the source of the voice. As he came into view your blood ran cold, and you felt as if you were about to faint. He laughed and spoke “There is no need to be frightened, child. You are Y/N, aren’t you?” You averted your gaze somewhat of out respect, but mostly fear. “Yes, my lord.” you squeaked out. He spoke again, “Good. I have heard you possess unnatural abilities?” he inquired. “Yes, Lord Vader, I do.”. You started to shake. He spoke, “Have you ever been taught how to use these skills?”. You furrowed your brow in confusion, you hadn’t realized your powers were something that could be taught. You replied, “No, my lord.”. He quickly answered, “Very good. We will begin tomorrow, I require a new protege, a padawan perhaps, to help me expand our Empire.”. Your gaze lifted to his mask in apprehension. Did he know you had just arrived today? Did he realize you had no training, of any kind? You were no soldier. You were no leader. He felt your anxiety and lifted his hand in the air as if to stop your thoughts . “Do not work yourself up, child. You are much more than you know.”
You quickly grew to care for your new Master. He was constructive, passionate and wise. He told you about all the planets in the galaxy and the Empire’s plans to make the galaxy a safer, better place. You felt your heart soar when you thought about being a part of such a wonderful thing. Your strength grew, and your skills would soon surpass your Master’s. You would follow him wherever he went, in part because you were his padawan, but deep down you knew you followed him because you wanted his attention, his praise and his love, all the time. Your thoughts began to scare you, would stay up at night thinking about what he looked like under his mask, and what his life was like before the Empire. Sometimes in your dreams, you would see flashes of his face, smiling and laughing. His hair was long and his smile was beautiful. When you would wake, you would chock your dreams up to your wild imagination, but these visions of him became more and more frequent as your bond grew. Soon you were inseparable and you would often spend time alone together. He became affectionate towards you, touching your arm or face soon became a daily occurrence.
During a particularly heavy sparring session you had bested him with your new saber. Having trained for almost a year, this felt like a full circle moment for both you and Vader. He quickly retracted his saber and rushed towards you. You feared he was charging forward to hurt you for winning and you turned to run away from him. He caught your face and held it for a moment before he spoke softly, “I’m so proud of you, little one.” he said, you could hear him smiling. “You’re growing stronger each day.” He felt his chest swell with pride. “Soon you will stand by my side and we will rule the galaxy, together”. You felt your throat start to close and tears threatened to spill down your cheeks. You held his hands and squeezed them, confirming your feelings to him. You knelt down and looked up at him with blurry vision “Thank you.” you said “Thank you for giving me this gift , my lord.” , you imagined what his smile looked like, just like in your visions and you wished you could kiss him.
A few cycles ago, you and Vader had finally been left alone in his throne room. The day had been quite successful, the Empire had gained ground on a particularly stubborn planet and it looked as though the Empire would soon have the planet in its grasp. You were proud of the way your master had handled the situation, as he had made great strides for the Empire that day. The two of you milled about the throne room watching the fires of Mustafar splash below. Your feelings had been mutual for some time now, and you increasingly wanted to find a way to express them to him. You slowly made your way towards him, and flashed a sly smile in his direction. He let out an airy laugh and said “What’s going on in your little head, bunny?”, he knew that nickname got to you. “Oh, nothing, my lord.” you said, you knew that name got to him. He chuckled again and said “Is that so? “ , you nodded and he said, “Then why are you looking at me as if you’re a loth cat in heat?”. Your skin started to heat and your nerves grew. You giggled nervously and reached your hands to lift his helmet. You froze as you felt a shift in the force and the mood between you. He grabbed your wrists and pulled you close to his face. “DO NOT TOUCH MY MASK, CHILD!” he yelled, but his tone quickly morphed into something more deranged and possessive. “It doesn’t belong to you does it, bunny?” He searched your face for an answer, but you were to stunned to speak. He shook you and prompted you to answer him “Huh?”, he said. Your eyes widened upon realizing he expected an answer, and you shook your head no. “Good girl.”, you could hear him smiling again. Bile burned in your throat, and your hands shook. It frighted you how quickly his demeanor changed, you hadn’t yet experienced his wrath first hand. He dropped your wrists and you ran to your quarters. You cried yourself to sleep that night. You didn’t know at the time, but Vader had come to your room later that night to check on you, but found you asleep. He decided it was best for him to stay and keep watch, just in case something happened.
This experience had taught you better than to try and pull a stunt like that again. Still on your knees, Vader pulled you up and began to walk with his arm around your waist. He pulled you close and whispered “I love you, little one.” You smiled brightly because you knew it was true, and replied, “I love you, my lord.”
You had left the day he died. You didn’t feel the need to stay, as once he was gone, there was nothing left for you there. Vader had told you about his hidden escape routes in case of emergencies and you knew the Empire would kill you if you openly left. You decided to pick Navarro as it was a moderately inhabited planet and you had a good chance of finding an isolated dwelling and fading into oblivion. You stole an escape pod and plugged in the coordinates. Once the gravity of what happened hit you, you started to wail. You lost the only home you ever knew and the love you ever had, in one fell swoop. It took a whole for the pod to land on Navarro, but the time it did, you had become desensitized by the pain, determined to creat a new, simple life on this planet.
Those dreams were dashed soon after when you realized you would need food and money. You quickly resorted to pickpocketing and stealing from local merchants. The guilt of stealing settled in fast and you began to search for other ways to make ends meet. You spent your days walking about the local fruits stands, asking to help with laborious jobs. At the market an older woman you had helping warned you against bounty hunting, and you pressed her for more information. The more you learned the more you felt the skills you had been taught by your master could prove very useful in this profession. Your master. Vader. The pain knocked the wind out of you. You thanked her for your pay and briskly walked towards an alley. Your knees started to buckle and you latched on to the nearest wall. You steadied yourself and took a second to breathe. You tried to hold the tears back but they flowed freely of their own accord. You sunk to the dirt road, you felt embarrassed for exposing such vulnerability in public but quickly abandoned the feeling once the pain hit you again. You calmed yourself down, steadied your breath and stood. You started to walk down the dirty alley and found a hole-in-the-wall bar. You walked in and placed yourself at a small table set for one. About an hour later and 3 drinks in, your daydreams of Vader were interrupted by boisterous laughter coming from an older man across the bar. He seemed to be giving out holopads to numerous, relatively intimidating creatures. Your curiosity rose, the alcohol racing through you had you feeling courageous enough to ask him what the holopads were all about. You plopped down across from the man and gave him a tired smile. “And who the hell are you?” he asked. Your courageous demeanor faltered at his tone. “ Y/N, I’m just wondering….What’s your name?” you asked. He shot you an annoyed look and rolled his eyes. “Karga, my name is Greef Karga, now can you get out of my booth please?” he spoke quite patronizingly at you, but that only spurred you on more. “And what do you do Greef Karga?” you asked rather hazily. “I’m a business man.” he said. You quickly snipped back, “Well what kind of business? I’m dying to know.”. He huffed and said “I give out these pucks here to bounty hunters, each puck contains an outstanding warrant for a criminal and a price to be paid for the capture of said criminal.” You happily hummed and said, “That’s what I want to do, Greef Karga. I think I’d be a very good bounty hunter.” It seemed as if the entire bar had been listening to the conversation because suddenly everyone bursted out in laughter. You felt your skin warm and the embarrassment you felt spurred a determination you hadn’t felt since Vader first bested you. “I’m serious” you said. This statement seemed to make him laugh even harder. “No, I’m really serious.” you insisted. His laughter subsided as he spoke. “Listen, here’s what I’ll do. How about I give you a seasoned bounty hunter to follow for a little, until you learn the ropes. If he says you can handle yourself, then you got the job. Deal?” He stuck out his hand and you shook it in an instant. “Alright” he said. “In two days I’ve got a bounty hunter coming in, very experienced, very patient and very much in debt to me.” He laughed at his own joke as you sipped your drink. He spoke again,” I want you to meet him outside this bar in two days at dusk, got it?” You nodded, fingers twiddling with excitement and anticipation. “Good.” he said as he shooed you out of his booth. As you walked out of the bar you heard him laugh and banter with a few fellows sitting behind him. “Greef, you’re gonna kill the poor girl, what made you think the Mandalorian was gonna go easy on her?”. You hid under the window by his table. He turned his head toward the blue Twi’lek as he bursted out in laughter, “I DIDN’T!” the group began to wheeze and Karga finished his thought.
“Mando is a great hunter but he’s a pain in my ass, always so uptight and angry with me. He caused so much trouble for me with that little green monster, I’m thinking this will teach him better than to screw me over next time he isn’t happy with his share.” You walked towards your dwelling, shivering from the cold. Thoughts of what would happened raced through your mind. “A Mandalorian?” you said to yourself. Fear started to settle in. Vader had told you about how awful those Mandalorian zealots were. You worried about the trip and the fate of your new profession. You made a promise to yourself to make a good impression on your first day. You comforted yourself the rest of the night with thoughts of your master and cried yourself to sleep, again.

you are more than you know CH.6

A/N: Hi everyone! So sorry for the delay. I just got back from vacation and school just started so I’m very busy. I’m excited for you all to read this chapter ☺️ I hope you all like it.
Summary: Darth Vader and Reader finally confront each other and absolute chaos ensues.
Pairing: Darth Vader x f! Reader, Mando x f! Reader
Warnings: dark!ani, angst, fluff, risqué situations, use of Y/N, abuse, nicknames like “good girl, bunny, little one”, dom/sub dynamics, death, public embarrassment, crying, guns
His golden eyes shone through the dusty air almost as brightly as the saber pointed at you. His robes were flowing gracefully behind him, he looked like a god. You tried to steady your ragged breaths but you couldn’t control the heaving of your chest. His laugh broke through the rushing wind and hit your ears with a brush of sincerity. He retracted his saber and held out his hand to help you up. It reminded you of the end of each sparring session the pair of you shared. You scrambled backwards, using his moment of pause to recollect yourself, come up with a plan and stand up. Your actions wiped the almost kind expression off of Anakin’s face, and it was replaced with a harsh, cold facade. “I’ve missed you, bunny.”,you ignored the desire to roll your eyes and spoke, “Why do you feel the need to do this? To kill me? Why can’t you just treasure what we had and move on?”. You were genuinely curious, you had no idea why he so desperately wanted to take you with him. You realized the two of you had been circling each other as you had in training, falling back into your old habits. He put his hand to his heart and stopped walking, “I love you Y/N, I need you, I need you every day. I need you forever.” You nearly choked.
The pair of you slowly made your way around the ring, never breaking eye contact. He spun his saber in anticipation for the fight ahead. You laughed at his habitual ticks. You thought you knew him so well. You spun your saber in jest, mocking his predictable action. His laugh echoed across the empty, dark sparring room. You were on a high from your first victory on some back water planet. You had assumed you would have the night off, in celebration, but Vader had other plans. He insisted you needed to improve your hand to hand combat skills, he felt your performance was unsatisfactory during the day’s battle. “You fought valiantly today, my love.”, his voice was so overbearing in the quiet room. You dropped your head in embarrassment from his compliment. “But your over confidence keeps you from making strides in battle.”, your step faltered at his correction. You felt ashamed, as though you had disappointed him. “I’m sorry, my lord. My only goal is to appease you.”, you leaned forward, bowing to express your sincerity. He laughed once more, “Stop groveling child, and fight.”. From your bent over position you looked up to his mask and gave him a mischievous smile. You rushed towards each other, both of you refusing to secede ground. You felt him reach through the force to get a strong grip on your arm, he pulled you towards him. “Never forget the force. Use it to your advantage.”. You nodded and he let you go. You continued to fight and you felt him falter. The pause in his attack caused you to react abruptly, you reached through the force and grabbed his ankle, causing him to trip as he advanced towards you. You seized the opportunity and pinned him to the ground, your saber pointed to his throat. You smiled wildly, thinking you had bested him. Almost as quickly as he fell, he overpowered you and flipped you over. Your chest was pressed against the floor and you felt a blaster brush against your back. Half of you feared for your life, while the other half felt a rush of excitement, not knowing what to expect from him next. “Y/N?”. You turned your head in an attempt to look at your master, “Yes, my lord?”. He let out an amused sigh at the name, “You know I love you, right?” You nodded hastily. “Do you trust me?”, he continued. His questions confused you, never one for such vulnerability. “Of course!”, you replied, almost insulted. He hummed in approval. You heard him engage the blaster and you went ridged. “Silly girl. Thinking you could beat me.” he laughed patronizingly. He dug the blaster further into your back, “Still trust me baby?” he asked sweetly. You softly nodded. Instantly, Vader ripped the blaster from your back and shot the practice dummy in front of you. The echoes rattled the room. You felt your legs jump as you struggled to control your fear. “How bout now, padawan?”, you sucked in a breath and nodded again. He flipped you over and straddled your hips, “Open your mouth.”, your brow furrowed, suddenly panicking about what his words insinuated and your inexperience. He heard your thoughts and said “Just fucking open it!“. You stuck your tongue out and he replied with a brief “good.” You hadn’t realized but you were gripping his leg out of fear, you felt his muscles flex under your hand and you quickly ripped your hand away, fearful you’d been inappropriate. “Shut up. Your thoughts are practically bouncing off these walls.”. You wanted to cry from embarrassment, but surprisingly, not from fear. You really did trust him, and you knew he did everything for a reason…no matter how unhinged. He shoved the barrel down your open throat and you choked around it, eyes growing wide. The room was silent. He waited patiently for you to respond to his aggressive action. You didn’t react. A smile crept on to his face. “You’re so perfect.” He removed the blaster from your mouth and you gasped for air. He brushed the hair from your face, in awe of your trust in him. “I love you Y/N, Maker, I need you, I need you every day. I need you forever.”
You were stunned, unable to string a coherent sentence you just stood there, with pleading eyes. You could see the emotions bubbling in his stomach, anger and frustration increasing as your circling continued. His face twisted into something unrecognizable. “I created you. I forged your body from the fires of Mustafar and your mind from the stars. You came to me…so malleable, begging to be perfected in my image. I simply couldn’t resist, can you blame me? Look at you.” His smile was so sweet, it almost made you cry. For so many nights, you had laid awake, thinking about your master, falling asleep and dreaming about that smile. You wanted to run and hug him, feel his warmth for the first time. You knew better than to go running though, that’s exactly what he wanted. “So weak and naive, I could smell the desperation rolling off of you the second I first laid my eyes on you. You wanted to be with me. You needed it. I fulfilled your wishes…and now look at you. The world has turned you against me, you don’t even know what you want anymore, do you?” You were stunned and frightened by his words. They sounded deranged but his tone was so calm. He’s just trying to get to you. Ignore him. You told yourself. He laughed, he knew he had you right where he wanted you. “I struck a nerve didn’t I, baby?”, you balled up your fists in an attempt to hold on to your last bit of sanity. “You know deep down, that everything I’m saying is true. We both know. So just admit it. You want me. You want me so badly, you’re aching for me.” You rolled your eyes back, trying to keep in the tears. “You’re so lost, bunny. You’ve strayed too far from me. You belong in my arms, why can’t you just accept that?” . You shook your head. I don’t know. I don’t know who I am anymore. Anakin nodded, hearing your thoughts. He slowly walked towards you, expecting you to react, but you didn’t. You stood stiff as a board, staring at the bright blue sky. He stopped about a foot away from you and stared at you. “It’s funny isn’t it?” He gestured to his surroundings, and you understood what he meant. You looked at the ground as he continued. “…To end it, where it all began.” you gave an exasperated laugh and nodded. He spoke again. “I was born here too, you know.”. Your head shot up to look at him, bewildered. “See, Y/N? It’s fate. You belong to me.” He rested his hands on your arms and you shivered from the touch. He spoke once more. “From the moment they killed me, you’ve been lost and confused. Deep down you know why, but let me tell you to your face… You can’t handle this galaxy on your own, you don’t know how. It’s not your fault…you aren’t made for this life, bunny. You need someone to take care of you, that’s why you follow that Mandalorian. But he’s not me, is he? He’s doesn’t satisfy your needs, does he? I know you realized a while ago that, no matter how much you try to get away from me, you can’t. I’m a part of your soul, and that part has been missing for a while now.” Anakin held your face and smiled, “This feels right, doesn’t it, bunny?” You nodded and leaned into his touch. You started crying and he held you tighter. You both sensed other beings nearby and your eyes shifted over to the ship to find your Mandalorian and two other people staring at the pair of you.
You felt so embarrassed, having Mando see you like this. You looked at your feet in shame and Anakin tilted your head to look at you. Anger was once again gracing his soft features. “I’ll kill them.” your tears kept coming. “please. don’t.” You said softly. You pushed off of your master and backed away. Anakin grabbed your face again, and with force. “I’m coming back for you, Y/N. Don’t you dare forget how complete I made you feel today, I won’t let you.” A slight wave of relief washed over you as you realized Anakin was too scared to kill you in front of Mando and his friends. You and Anakin made eye contact as tears spilled out of yours. His gaze, so close to you, felt like lightning in your tummy. He knew the power he had over you, and he planned to manipulate that power to the best of his ability. Anakin laughed at your visible pain, dripping off your chin. He leaned into your face and dragged his tongue up your cheek, catching the salty tears as they freely rolled down. He hummed contently as you shook in fear. You looked over at the group and watched Mando try to lunge towards you, but the other Mandalorian held him back from running. Anakin pulled away and followed your line of vision to the group and moved around your body so your back was to his chest, facing the trio. He wrapped an arm around your throat and asked, “Think your Mandalorian’s jealous?”. You stiffened, feeling guilty for allowing Anakin put on this show in front of everyone, and embarrassed by your own weaknesses. Realizing you weren’t quite ready to leave this life behind, you elbowed Anakin in the ribs and sprinted towards the group. Your master tried to grasp the ends of your robes but to no avail. You refused to stop running until you were safely behind the group. You watched as Anakin paced angrily on the sand. The green Mandalorian turned to you and said, “So that’s the big guy, eh?”, you nodded, out of breath. The woman spoke next, “Looks pretty scrawny to me.”. You let out a guttural laugh at the unexpected comment. “I wouldn’t underestimate him if I were you.” said the green armored man. His comment confused you, it felt as though he took the words right out of your mouth, but you refrained from mentioning it, considering you had more pressing matters at hand. You hadn’t noticed the lack of Mando’s presence in front of you. You looked up to find him rushing towards your master, almost reaching him. “Mando, no!” you screamed. As he approached Anakin, the sand kicked up, causing the Sith to fade from view. Your master gave the Mandalorian a patronizing smile and a brief nod in your direction before fading into the dusty wind.

“you are more than you know.” Ch. 4

A/N: I’m so excited for this chapter and the next one. Ani is back and in the next chapter we’ll really get into it with him. I hope you all enjoy this chapter!!💖
Chapter 5 is posted!
Pairing: Darth Vader x f! Reader, Mando x f! Reader
Warnings: angst, fluff, use of Y/N, abuse, manipulation, use of “whore”, sparring session, crying, mentions of death.
Your eyes fluttered open to the vibrations and humming of the ship. After the shared emotional vulnerabilities of last night, Mando had let you sleep in his bed while he stayed up and continued to pilot the ship to Corvus. You sat up, stretching your sore limbs and sighing in content. You felt a little guilty that you took over Mando’s quarters for the night, but it was the best sleep you had in a while. You weren’t sure if Mando knew you were up, so you decided to lay down again for a little, trying to salvage the last remnants of your wonderful rest. As your head touched the pillow, a blistering headache ripped through your head, just like before. You grabbed your forehead and braced yourself for what was sure to be a painful verbal lashing from your master. “I can’t believe this.” there was that boyish voice again. “I can’t believe you replaced me with a Mandalorian!”. You winced from both the pain in your head and his tone. “I didn’t replace you, my lord.” you whispered, worried that Mando might hear. “You’re lying to me again…I thought I could trust you.” he sounded weak and desperate. Vader continued “You’re a pathetic whore. Aren’t you? You simply latch on to the nearest weak-minded man and take everything you can. You killed me! My love for you killed me!” it sounded like he was crying. “I-i, no! Vader I loved you! I still do! Please. Oh, please forgive me. I would never lie to you, the Mandalorian is just a- a colleague!” Vader’s anguished tone switched on something inside you. You felt yourself become complacent and ashamed. You knew deep down that you had done nothing wrong, but your ruler said otherwise. You continued to plea with him until he interrupted. “I’m going to bring you to me…I’m going to make you see how worthless your life is without me.” he paused and laughed harshly. “Soon. Soon you will see how strong my love for you is, and how desperately you need to be beside me. You’ll see, my love. They’ll all see.”
“Kriff.” you said to yourself as the pain in your head faded and you were able to focus on what exactly your master said. You slammed your hand on the cheap bed and felt a wave of emotions rush over you. The panic, frustration, anger and fear danced in your belly and you contemplated telling Mando what happened just a few seconds ago. At that exact moment you realized he was perched in the door frame. “Good morning.” he said scratching the back of his neck. “You all right, mesh’la?”, you laughed and hoped the pathetic chuckle was enough to play off any frightened look on your face. “Yeah. I’m alright.” you said. “Hey, thanks for letting me sleep here.” he nodded and you continued. “I feel kinda bad though…did you sleep at all?” He gave you a short laugh, “Well no, not really. I’m not much of a sleeper.” You hummed in understanding, “Thank you, again.” you finished. You both sat there in silence for a little. You knew, he knew that something was off, but you didn’t dare say a word for fear of burdening him with your troubles even more. He finally spoke, “We’re coming up on Corvus soon, if you want to get ready.”. You nodded and hopped out of bed. You began collecting your things and prepared for the day.
The air was muggy and the environment was desolate. Dead trees and swampy smells surrounded you at all ends. You made sure to stay behind Mando as you two made your way to his friend. “We’re almost there.” he said, he must’ve sensed your apprehension. You let out a shaky “ok.”. A small encampment appeared in the distance, a figured was stood in the center. Mando started raising his hands in surrender and your adrenaline started to kick in. You copied his motions and prayed who ever was in front of you, saw your attempts at communicating peace. The figure in the distance, which was now in view, was a woman and she started laughing. Mando quickly dropped his hands and reached out to greet who you assumed was his friend. The two of them turned to face you and you realized your hands were still up. “Oh.” you dropped them as well. “Hi. I’m Y/N, I’m an…associate of Mando’s.” You reached your hand out to shake the woman’s, and she reciprocated. She looked at Mando with curiosity before she spoke. “I’m Ashoka, Y/N. Mando says you need some help. What can I do for you?” You smiled and looked at Mando for help with explaining the situation. He jumped in to prevent your inevitable blubbering. “Ashoka, Y/N needs your help…she knows your ways, she’s actually very good. But…” you cut him off as you had figured out what you wanted to say. “Thank you Mando but, I think I can take it from here. I’m familiar with…the force.” you started. “I don’t know if you’ll be able to help me, let alone want to help me. The thing is, I’ve been hearing things, from…my master. He’s dead now, so I have no clue how I’m able to hear him to begin with. But, he’s been telling me things.” Ashoka looked more than concerned, “What kinds of things?” she asked hesitantly. “He’s been…threatening me. I don’t know. It might be all in my head. Anxiety about living a new life and all.” You tried to smile to break up the tension, but Ashoka’s face twist further into worry. “Y/N, I’m sorry to tell you this but, what you’re telling me isn’t normally what us Jedi go through. Yes, our master’s can speak to us through the force but it’s not the Jedi way to threaten, especially your own padawan.”. Your anxieties kicked up again and you felt dizzy. You worried this Jedi would kill you if she found out you were Sith, even more so, you worried your master would kill all of you for talking about it. “Are you ok, mesh’la?” Mando asked. “Yeah. Yeah. I’m fine. I just. Ashoka, how do I stop this, these voices?”. You two looked at each other and without saying a word you knew there was nothing the either of you could do to stop it. “I’m sorry, Y/N. This voice in your head, I doubt it’s truly your master. A Jedi would never do that. I’m sure it’s your anxiety, getting the best of you. Doing things you enjoy could take your mind off of everything for a while.” She tried her best to ease your nerves but the dissatisfaction the conversation brought on made it almost impossible for you to think about anything else.
“Hey.” Ashoka tried to get your attention. “You know what always cheers me up?”. You looked up at her with hopeful eyes. “What?” you said. She smiled and said “A quick sparring session.”. Kriff. Now you really started to panic. You couldn’t ignite your lightsaber, she’d know and then she’d kill you. You tried to think up and excuse. “I -Im not really feeling my best today.” you squeaked out. Ashoka ignited her saber “Oh cmon, that’s a lame excuse. Indulge me this one thing, I haven’t had a sparring partner in forever. Please?” she begged. You looked at Mando with fear and even though you couldn’t see his face, you could feel the panic radiating off of him. You both realized how stupid of an idea this trip was, you let yourselves get caught up in the whimsy of it all, and failed to weigh the consequences. And now you were face to face with the ultimate consequence of your childish decisions. You figured weaseling your way out of this situation was futile, and you didn’t want to put Mando’s friendship in jeopardy. You huffed with anticipation and reached for your saber. “Ashoka, please don’t react out of anger, please let me explain first.” she looked at you confused and you lit the saber. The pink color reflected off the surrounding trees and Mando’s armor. You could see the grimace twist on Ashoka’s face. She started walking towards you and you braced yourself for impact. You felt a hand on your shoulder and you opened your eyes. Ashoka was looking at you with a blank face, “The Jedi way is to forgive. I don’t know what you’ve been through but…” she looked at your ignited pink saber, “evidently you’ve gone through some horrible things, and come out a better person.” You released the breath you hadn’t realized you’d been holding. “I’m sorry I lied to you Ashoka, I was just worried something bad would’ve happened if I told you.”. She sighed, “It seems you’ve never actually met a Jedi?” You looked at the grown sheepishly and gave a simple “no.” She laughed, “Let’s spar, hmm?” You smiled and she walked across the clearing and assumed her battle stance. You both looked to Mando who was leaning against a dead tree, he got the message and walked to the center of the ring with a huff. “Ready?” He looked between you two and both of you nodded. He nodded and lifted his hand. He threw his hand down and practically ran out of the ring.
You sprinted towards your opponent just like you had with your master so many times before. You immediately went on the offense trying to overpower Ashoka. She laughed at your actions, resembling an excited puppy. You two broke apart, breathing heavy with smiles on your faces. “You remind me of my master, your aggression. I can tell you like to fight.” You laughed this time. “You could say that….who’s your master?” You asked innocently. The two of you were circling the ring and you saw Ashoka falter when you asked the question. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to pry. I was just curious.” She smiled softly, “No, it’s ok. You didn’t know. His name was Anakin Skywalker.” you smiled as you sensed she was reliving fond memories. “Is he gone?” you asked quietly. Her face dropped again, “You could say that.”. You paused, “I’m sorry Ashoka.” you said louder. “It was a long time ago. I’ve moved on…you said you had a master, who?” She asked a little roughly. You lowered you saber and retracted it, you knew this answer would upset her and maybe even Mando. You knew your master had a bad reputation and you really couldn’t blame them for thinking awful things about him, they were true. But you loved him anyways. Ashoka looked panicked by your actions. “Who. Who is it?”. Even Mando moved towards you. You thought to yourself, you had to live up to your mistakes and accept your actions. You figured there was no way to move on from your past if you kept hiding it from others, and yourself. You wiped your damp hands on your pants and clipped your saber back to your belt. You took a deep breath and said, “My master was Darth Vader.” The horror on Ashoka’s face made you want to vomit. Mando froze in anticipation of Ashoka’s reaction. She ignited her saber and lunged at you. You practically fell backwards and Mando jumped in Ashoka’s way. She pointed at Mando “How dare you bring her to me. She is a traitor, she killed the galaxy!” You started crying. She wasn’t wrong. You helped the Empire take over numerous plants and kill endless amounts of people. Ashoka continued “She killed my master! She ruined Anakin.” Mando looked at you as if to ask for confirmation to what Ashoka just said. Your eyes grew wide and you started shaking your hands in front of you, “No, No I didn’t! I’m sorry Ashoka but I have no idea who your master is!” She laughed darkly, “You’re sick! How dare you lie about something like that! You pulled him to the dark side.” You stared at her in absolute confusion as she strained against Mando’s hold. You stepped forward and said “What? Who are you talking about? I have no idea who Anakin is.” She stopped thrashing for a moment to study your face. She saw the confusion and fear in your tear filled eyes, and realized you truly had no idea who she was talking about. Mando let her go and you could see her deflate in pain. “You really have no clue, do you?” she asked weakly. You replied incredulously, “No.”. She almost started laughing in bewilderment but the seriousness of the situation forced her to withhold her knee jerk reaction. “This is ridiculous.” she stated flatly, “He really never told you?”. You huffed once more. You couldn’t wrap your head around what she was saying. “What do you mean?”, you began to grow impatient with her. Wasting your time on false accusations and guilt trips. You looked up at her when she didn’t answer you. You could feel the heaviness in her heart, and see the glossiness in her eyes. “Your master never told you about his life before the Empire, did he? You don’t even know who he is.” Ashoka looked at you with disgust and pity. Her statement struck a chord in you, one you held close to your heart.
You were insecure when it came to Vader’s openness regarding his previous life, you always wanted to know but you were told to refrain from asking, so you didn’t. You looked at your shoes and whispered “no, he didn’t.”. Ashoka nearly broke at your confession. She rushed forward and grabbed your hands and pleaded, “He never mentioned me?”. Your brow furrowed and you spat out a harsh no. She dropped your hands and paced in front of you. The silence that had fallen finally gave the Mandalorian a chance to ask “Y/N, you really don’t know?”. Your head spun around in anger. You knew your master was well known but something must seriously be wrong if Mando knew what Ashoka was talking about. Dread welled up in your stomach as you asked Mando “Can someone please tell me what’s going on!”. He sighed and looked at the restless Jedi. Ashoka finally stopped pacing and turned to you. She took a deep breath and placed her hands on your shoulder. “Forgiveness is what makes a Jedi, a Jedi. I don’t want to tell you this, I don’t think you even deserve to know what I’m about to tell you. But, I will tell you because I have to forgive you and move on from this.” She took another deep breathe and you felt your hands shaking out of fear. She continued, “My master, Anakin Skywalker, was a famous Jedi. He was a general in the Clone Wars, and he saved so many civilizations from Separatist rule. He was one of the best Jedi the galaxy had ever seen.” She huffed, dreading what she would say next. “One day, he snapped. Chancellor Palpatine, or I guess you know him as Darth Sidious, had convinced Anakin to join the dark side and abandon the Republic’s cause.” Your eyes went wide, all the pieces started falling together. You pushed her off of you. “You’re lying.” you accused. She let out a sad laugh, “No, no Y/N I’m not. My master was Anakin Skywalker and he became your master, Darth Vader.” she waved her finger at you. “He is ashamed of his past, he knows what he’s doing is wrong. You know it too. You know what? You two deserve each other. You’re pathetic.” she froze at the realization and averted her gaze. She looked back at you and spoke with a weak voice “He’s dead…you said your master died.” She dropped to her knees. You thought she would cry, but she kept a stoic face. “How?” she looked up at you. You looked down at her and felt guilty for having to bear the news to her. “He died in battle” you said plainly. She let out a weak laugh, “Figures.” You bent down to her level, “Ashoka, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for this to happen. If I knew…” you looked up at Mando with a flash of anger in your eyes. “It’s not your fault, Y/N.” This time, Ashoka looked at Mando. The Mandalorian stood awkwardly beside you two, “Y/N, we should probably head out now?” you nodded as you rose back to your feet.
“Wait.” you said suddenly. You held out your hand to Ashoka and said “Ashoka…could you answer a question for me, please?”. She grabbed your hand and stood. “I suppose…” she said begrudgingly. You let out a deep breath, “W-what did he look like?”. Ashoka gave you a soft smile. “He was beautiful. Blonde hair, brown eyes. He was always firm with me, but kind. Very protective. Tall, maker, he was tall. Listen Y/N, I don’t know you very well, but I can say with absolute certainty that he would’ve loved you.” You let out a sob. The way Ashoka described him was exactly how you imagined. You were endlessly grateful to her for sharing this with you, especially because you probably didn’t deserve it. You squeezed her hands, “Thank you.”. She nodded and said, “I’m afraid I can’t help you with your experiences. If I had known who your master was to begin with, I probably would’ve taken your situation a little more seriously. Now that I know it’s Anakin…well I still don’t know what to do, but I don’t think he would physically do anything to you. If he cared for you as much as I think he did, I believe his threats are quite empty, and won’t come to fruition. If there’s one thing I know about Anakin, it’s that he likes to talk a lot, and rarely follows through.” You felt slightly comforted by her words, she knew Anakin better than anyone. On the other hand, you knew Vader better than anyone, and you knew how cruel and bloodthirsty he could be. You knew there’s was no point in telling her this, and potentially further taint her already negative perspective of what Anakin had become. You and Mando gave your thanks and made your way back to the ship. The walk back was silent as you both contemplated what you had learned. You both made it back to the ship and Mando finally spoke. “I’m sorry for all this. I didn’t realize this would happen.” You held your hand up in defeat. “No Mando, it’s ok. I should’ve told you who I was. It wasn’t fair to you. I’m really sorry.” You both sighed and sat in comfortable silence. You spoke up, “Well what do we do know?”. Mando let out an exasperated laugh. “I have no clue”.

“you are more than you know.” CH. 2
Tumblr media
A/N: Hi everyone! Chapter 2 is really where the story begins and I hope you all start to see where I’m trying to go with this. If you have any suggestions or concerns my messages are open! I hope you enjoy!
Update: Chapter 3 is posted!
Summary: Reader prepares for her journey with the Mandalorian. This is the second chapter of this series. Things are starting to pick up here.
Pairing: Darth Vader x f! Reader, Mando x f! Reader (i know, i know, bare with me)
Warnings: angst, fluff, use of Y/N, abuse, nicknames like “good girl, bunny, pet, little one”, slight dom/sub dynamics, alcohol, death, public embarrassment, crying, cat calling, anxiety, discussion of prostitution.
The day before you were set to shadow your mentor, you woke up with a groggy, unsettled feeling. You made your way to the mirror and your face dropped at the sight. Your eyes were swollen and your cheeks were puffy. Your constant crying and lack of sleep was taking a toll on your body and evidently your face. Sighing, you walked over to the small wooden chest at the foot of your bed and took your clothes out to pack in preparation for tomorrow. You looked at the loose black linens you had received while working for the Empire. A frown crossed your face and you considered going to the market to buy more protective clothing for what was sure to be dangerous endeavor. Then a thought creeped into your mind, and you slowly raised your gaze to the bantha leather satchel resting on the bedside table. You remembered Vader had brought it to you as a gift after one of his numerous diplomatic trips. You lifted yourself up off the ground and made your way to the rickety table. You took a deep breath, and prepared yourself for what feelings might resurface once you open the bag. The flap of the satchel fell open and you were faced with a dilemma you hadn’t expected. Your light saber rested at the top of the bag, glimmering under the sunlight from the open window. You bit your lip, trying to decide if it was wise to bring it on the trip with you. You feared if the Mandalorian found it he might steal it, or turn you in to the Empire for defecting. But at the same time you feared for your safety, and the saber felt like a sort of insurance, promising your well-being. Against your better judgement you grabbed the saber, and ignited it. The red color looked different, a little faded from how you remembered it. You stared at it expectantly, as if waiting for an explanation as to the change in color. You withdrew the saber’s almost pink-ish light and turned around to face the satchel once more. You walked towards the bag and dumped out the rest of its contents. A uniform, vastly different from your Imperial issued garbs, sat rather unimpressively next to the tipped over leather bag. It was a Sith uniform made especially for you. You softly smiled as you looked at it. The reflective black material shone under the light. You rarely wore it, but it was beautiful, made from the finest fabrics in the galaxy. You remembered how it hugged your frame and how much Vader loved the way you looked in it. You mostly wore it in training sessions as when you were sent to other planets for missions Vader wanted you to wear a Colonel’s uniform to help insure your safety and rank in chaotic battles. You often argued with him, wanting to wear your custom suit as you felt it helped you center your force and fight more passionately. Inevitably you relented and followed his orders to wear the Imperial uniform instead. As you held the latex feeling fabric in your hand you felt guilty for wanting to wear it on your first hunt. It was a good suit for being stealthy and feeling intimidating, you reminded yourself, and it was a good idea to wear it for protection , there was no reason not to. Pulling it over your arms and zipping it up the back, you started to feel like yourself again. You looked in the small mirror on the wall and smiled. It fit like a glove. You reached behind you to pull down the zipper and a splitting headache raged through your skull.
You gasped and grabbed your forehead as you fell and leaned against the wooden chest on the floor. “You look good.” The voice said. You audibly choked out an airy “what?” The voice laughed harshly at your response and your stomach sank. No…, you thought to yourself, it can’t be, how? “How?” he said. “How?”, he asked again, incredulously. His voice sounded boyish and natural, but you could sense it was him. “I think the real question is HOW could you….how could you leave me?” You muttered another confused “what?” “Shut up! Shut up Y/N, you know what I’m talking about!” His tone was threatening and considering you had idea what was going on, you worried your anxieties about leaving the Empire had finally gotten to you and they manifested in to some sort of delusion. “You left me before my body was even cold.” he spoke sadly. You shuddered at the image his statement stirred. His words surprised you, you had never heard him speak so openly and in such a bratty tone. “I left for you, Vader. I left because of you.” you retorted defiantly. He scoffed at your statement, “Why are you lying to me, little one? I can feel that you’re lying to me. I know you better than anyone, just tell me the truth, bunny.” The nickname almost made you cry, but you held on to your defiant facade. “I am not lying to you! I loved you! Please let me explain!” you pleaded with him and rubbed the sides of your head, but his anger was unwavering. “Enough! I refuse to listen to your pathetic excuses. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re doing, starting a new life. You can’t get rid of me, you won’t be able to. I know the memories of me haunt you and for that reason I know you’ll never let me go.” He laughed but his voice didn’t sound at all like it used to, and yet it was strangely familiar. He continued, “I’m living inside of you, pet.”. The way he spat out the endearment made you flinch. “I am your blood - it flows because of me. Your bones are strong because I am supporting you. Your beauty is unparalleled because I willed it so.”. You heard the boyish laugh once more. “We are made for each other, you belong with me. And I will follow you until you realize this to be true.”. And just like that, your headache dissipated along with your Master.
You made your way to the market to get supplies for your journey the next day. Still shaken by what had just transpired, you tucked your saber under your robes for extra protection. As you walked you thought about what Vader had said. It pained you to think he believed you left him in his death. You wondered if he knew you thought about him every day, you hoped he did. Your mind kept drifting to the last thing he said. What did he mean by “follow”? You abruptly stopped mid stride, a gut wrenching thought hit you. Could he be alive? Your mind began to hyper focus on the details of your seemingly paranormal argument. How could you hear him? You didn’t see him. You didn’t feel him. …The force, you concluded. It must be something with the force. The thought frustrated you as you tried to figure out a way to control this new form of communication. Your arrival at the market forced you to table your thoughts and focus on the mission at hand. You made a mental to-do list of things you needed to buy and chores you needed to complete before you left for Maker knows how long. You stopped at a food stall to pick up rations to take with you, freeze dried fruit and preserved meats. You stopped to say goodbye to the older lady at the fruit stall who gave you your first job. She handed you a particularly colorful fruit as a token of her gratitude. You smiled at her and bowed, gratefully accepting the fruit. You walked to a hunting supply shop to pick out new gear. You purchased rope, a blaster and tape. Seeing as you were well versed in kidnapping for the Empire you figured this would be all you needed. The sun started to set as you made your way home and you prepared yourself for what was to come.
You planned on going to bed early to get enough sleep, knowing it would take a while for your restless mind to wear itself out. You laid in bed and stared at the floor where you had fallen earlier. In a desperate attempt at finding answers you centered your force and tried to reach your master. You called out to him in despair, praying he would hear you. And nothing. You felt nothing and you heard nothing. You finally laid under the thin sheet on your bed, curling your body in on itself. You thought about the voice you heard today and combined it with the young face of Vader you had envisioned so many times before. You smiled , “a perfect fit” you said to yourself. You drifted off to sleep with thoughts of him.
The next day you awoke with the sun high in the sky. You panicked, worried you had slept through an entire day. You ran to the market and asked a shopkeeper what day it was. Your nerves settled when you realized you hadn’t missed your meeting with the Mandalorian, but simply slept in late. You figured it was for the best considering you hadn’t slept much since your escape. You prepared your travel bag, the bantha skin satchel, and collected your belongings. You knelt in front of the wooden chest and pulled out your old Imperial uniform. You felt ashamed, and worried about what might happen to you if the Mandalorian saw it in your bag. You studied the garment, analyzing how it made you feel. Sick, it made you feel sick. With a determined face you dragged the uniform outside and started to dig into the sand with a rusted shovel left from the previous owner. Once the depth of the pit satisfied you, you took one last look at your past and threw it in the desert. As you dumped the sand back on top of it, you felt a weight lift off your shoulders. You realized you hadn’t stayed in the Empire because you loved it, in fact you hated it. You stayed because your master was there, he truly gave you everything you ever wanted. And you hated the Empire because it brought out the worst in him. The anger, jealousy and pain, you realized, was the fault of pressures brought on by the Empire. Your epiphany had you rethinking your morals and priorities. You sat back on your haunches dumbfounded by your discovery, you began to wonder what the Sith meant to you too. Why were you so hell-bent on supporting organizations that ultimately lead to your soulmate’s demise? You starting laughing at your somewhat outlandish thoughts. You wouldn’t have dared to think things like this a few days ago. You realized you’ve been feeling yourself grow distant from both the Empire and the Sith, long before Vader’s death. They gave you none of the things they had promised you when you first arrived. Vader had given you the love and support you craved, not the Generals or Stormtroopers. You walked away from the buried uniform with a new appreciation for your courage and strength to do what you’ve done up until and including this moment. Creating a life for yourself is difficult, especially after being so dependent on one person. But you believed in yourself and you had hope for the future.
The time had finally come. Your things were packed and you walked towards the cantina for the meeting. You wore your custom Sith battle suit and discreetly hid your saber in your tool belt. Prior to leaving the house you prepared yourself for what would inevitably be a monsoon of staring and heckling considering your attire, but you stuck to your guns. In part because you loved the suit, it was great for combat, but also because you didn’t have enough credits to buy more discreet gear. The sun on Navarro was nearing the horizon, signaling dusk, meaning you were right on time for your meeting with Karga and “The Mandalorian”. You rounded the corner to the cantina and spotted Karga at his usual table. He had a few acquaintances with him, but you didn’t spot a Mandalorian. You figured you might as well greet Karga and grab a drink while you wait. You crossed the threshold to the room and you felt the hairs on your neck raise, you looked up and saw everyone’s eyes on you. You shot a pathetic smile to the masses and tried to muster up some courage to keep moving. Your feet stopped at Karga’s table and you offered a weak “Hello.”. He looked you up and down, giving a surprised, airy laugh in response to your appearance. “Well that’s one way to do it, I suppose.” he said. You laughed out of embarrassment and in appreciation for him making light of the situation rather than making you feel uncomfortable. But his guests weren’t so forgiving. Their eyes blatantly followed your form, lazy smiles plastered on their faces. One man leaned forward over the table and asked you to join them. You obliged, but only because that was your plan to begin with. You sat next to Karga at the end of the rotund bench. The group bought you a drink, you decided to slowly nurse it as you’d prefer to not start your new career making a drunken mistake. You traced the cracks in the wooden table while the men’s conversations droned on, every so often asking a borderline inappropriate question regarding your intentions with being here tonight. Just when you wondered if the Mandalorian was ever going to show up, you considered leaving when Greef Karga stood and said “Ahhh Mando! Long time, huh?” Your head shot up in search of the iconic armor. He walked towards the table, people’s gazes following close behind. He stood at the end of the table next to you, and you felt like your neck might snap off whilst you tried to stare at his helmet. Karga and the Mandalorian shook hands and a modulated voice replied. “Yeah, it has.”. The modulation of his voice was almost comforting to you, reminding you of Vader. “Still a man of few words I see.” Karga replied, and continued “This is Y/N.” Karga gestured to you. The Mandalorian stared down at you and huffed, “I didn’t take you for a lonely man, Karga?”. The men at the table started laughing at you and a concerned look crossed your face. You stood and said “Oh, no…no I’m not a prostitute.” you laughed at the uncomfortable mood that had settled over the table. You continued, “Not that there’s anything wrong with being a prostitute, I mean as long as the person is happy and safe, ya know?” You realized you were rambling out of nervousness because the Mandalorian had crossed his arms in what you guessed was impatience. You finished your rambling, “Sorry, no, I’m your new trainee, hi.” You reached out to shake his hand but he remained unmoving. “My what?” He said. “Your trainee? Karga said you were the best in the game and you’d help me find my way.” you looked to Karga, “Right?” you said. Karga stood and said “Right. Mando will you follow me outside please?”. You let Karga exit the booth and guide the bounty hunter outside. You watched the conversation unfold. You grew nervous when Karga became noticeably angry and the Mandalorian visibly stiffened. You decided to look away and pray to the maker the argument would end in your favor.
Soon after, you heard Karga call out your name and wave you over. You walked out of the crowded, noisy bar to join the pair of men. Karga turned to you and said “Mando here doesn’t believe you have the skills it takes to be a bounty hunter, and I insisted that you’re a highly trained fighter. A master of Jedi powers!”. Jedi? You thought to yourself. Had he seen your saber? Was this some sort of trap? Karga hit your side with his elbow and gave you a knowing look when you didn’t respond. You remembered the conversation you had overheard two days before, Karga was simply using you to get back at Mando and you figured he was “playing up” your abilities to convince him you were worth the trouble. “Oh. Oh! Yes! Jedi! I’ve been trained in the ways of the force for years, until my master died and I was forced to assimilate into society.” even though you were supposed to be lying, telling the truth, out loud, brought you a sort of relief, and you hoped it worked to convince the hunter. The Mandalorian sighed and turned to Greef Karga and said “So I’m guessing you won’t give me that puck until I say yes?” Karga smilied and said “Not a chance.”.

“you are more than you know” CH. 3
Tumblr media
Chapter 4 is live!
A/N: I hope you all are enjoying this series, I’m liking where it’s going. This chapter shows what I think season 3 Mando should be: soft, old, dilf!mando. There’s no Ani in this chapter but don’t worry, chapter 4 is gonna be a doozy. Thanks for reading! 💖
Summary: Reader goes on her first bounty hunt with Mando and things take a turn, an interesting one.
Pairing: Mandalorian x Reader
Warnings: angst, flirting, assault, use of endearments in an aggressive way, crying, anxiety, awkward Mando, betting, yelling, almost sexual assault but stopped before it actually happens, death, canonical violence, blood, 1 punch, mention of throwing up, when I say soft!Mando, I mean it.
You boarded the metal ship with your travel bag in hand. You tried to contain your excitement and nerves as you followed the shiny man into the equally as shiny cargo hold. He lead you to the cockpit in silence and you made a point of being as quiet as you could possibly be. The Mandalorian sat in the pilot’s seat and motioned for you to sit in the passenger’s seat. You placed your bag by your feet and sat in the surprisingly comfy chair. “Since it seems you’ll be here for a little while, I think it’s important to lay down some ground rules.” Mando looked at you, waiting for you to agree. You nodded and he continued, “Ok. You can call me Mando, and my living quarters down there.” He pointed to a corner in the hold below. You realized you hadn’t even thought about the sleeping situation. Your nerves elevated as it finally registered that you were practically taking advantage of him as you had sprung this on him just a few minutes ago. He spoke before you were able to apologize “We’ll figure something out for you, I guess. Anyways, med kit items are in those bins and the food is right next to them. Now, listen because this part is important.” You peeled your eyes away from the storage bins to meet his helmet. “This is my ship and I’m in charge here. Under no circumstances are you to fly this ship, leave this ship or tell people about this ship unless I explicitly tell you to do so. I wasn’t aware I’d be training someone on this mission so I’d rather take extra precautions to avoid being at fault for your death if you decide to do or say something stupid during this hunt.”
“I’m really sorry, Mando. I know this isn’t fair to you but Karga said it was ok so….” your sentence faded in your mouth.
“Yeah. Well that should teach you better than to listen to him.” he replied.
“I guess so.” you answered glumly.
A silence fell over the two of you as you both stared out the window.
“If you’re stuck with me, maybe you could tell me what the plan is?” you tried to lighten to mood.
“Right.” Mando grabbed the puck from his belt. “We’re after a high level gangster from Canto Bight. His nickname is “Gunslinger”.”. You snorted “Original.”.
Mando ignored your comment and continued. “He’s wanted by the Empire for swindling them out of a weapons deal in an elaborate gambling scheme. The warrant says it’s preferable if he’s brought in alive.” You nod your head. And wait for him to continue. “So what would your first move be?” he turns to you, waiting for an answer. “Me?“ you ask. “Yes. You.” he answers. “Uhh well…Once we land in Canto Bight I’d try to infiltrate the inner circle, the high rollers, ya know? I’d have to change first but I think I could weasel my way in, no problem. I could coax the guy back to “my place” and you could nab him there.” you finish your game plan. Mando tilts his head “hm…could work.”.
You lean forward “Really?”.
“Sure. We can try your tactics. But when they fail…and they will. I can save your ass and show you how a professional does it.” you swore you could hear him smiling.
“Wanna bet?” you hold out your hand. He paused, “Why not, Y/N. If I win, you clean the ship?” he suggested.
“Hmmm. And if I win….I get to fly the ship?” you smirked.
The Mandalorian hesitated before his gloved hand met yours in a brief but firm shake.
“Good deal.” you smiled.
Mando plugged in the coordinates for Canto Bight and you decided to get started on building a bed. You began with looking through storage bins and closets. After finding a hypothermia blanket in one of the med kits you decided to search for padding or a clean rag to use as a pillow. You opened a cabinet on the wall and your jaw nearly hit the floor. Blasters, knives and hunting gear hung neatly before you. Your surprised expression grew into a large smile. You couldn’t believe Mando could fit this many weapons into one closet. Your hand moved forward before your brain could catch up. You took a knife off the wall and admired the animal skin hilt. It was inlayed with metallic details and precious stones. It balanced perfectly on your finger tip. You walked towards the ladder to the cockpit. Approaching the back of Mando’s chair you said “I changed my mind. If I win, I want this.”. You held the weapon out in front of you.
Mando turned around and stood, “Where did you get that?” he insisted.
“The closet in the hold.”. You continued to admire the knife. “It’s beautiful Mando. I can’t believe your collection, it’s amazing.”
The Mandalorian snatched the knife from your hand and leaned towards you “You shouldn’t touch things that don’t belong to you.” he said. A shiver went down your spine as you recalled how a certain someone once told you the same thing. Mando brushed past you to put the weapon back in its rightful place, and rejoined you just a minute later. “Those weapon are extremely important to me and I suggest you refrain from bothering them again.” You looked at your feet. “Gee Mando, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize.” you continued “Why are they so important to you? I mean I take my weapons seriously too but why?” you sat in the passenger’s chair. “I’m a Mandalorian, weapons are sacred parts of our religion.”
His helmet turned to you. “Have you met a Mandalorian before?”
You shook your head. “No.” You looked down. “But I’ve heard things… I don’t mean to offend you, especially since we’ve just met…Let’s just say, I haven’t heard the nicest things about your people.”
He gave a sympathetic laugh. “I figured. People tend to get the wrong impression, what with our armor and reputations.” You nodded. “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to generalize. I just. I’ve been pretty sheltered from things, told to think a certain way about certain people.”
This time Mando nodded.
You continued “I apologize if I bother you with questions throughout this trip, I haven’t really had the freedom to experience the galaxy like this.”
Mando spoke “I understand. I’ll try to answer your questions but I can’t promise to answer them all.”
“Thanks.” you answered.
Following Mando, you exited the ship at the “Short Term Visits” hangar. Your first goal was to change into something more luxurious to match your surroundings. You and Mando left the hangar and you were instantly blinded by the overpowering stadium lights from the betting tracks nearby. You had been here once before on a special trip with Vader but you both barely left the hotel as he feared for your safety. You had always wanted to come back and explore the city, so you planned on making the best of this adventure. As you walked down the cobblestone street you found a suitable dress shop and told Mando you’d be right back.
You asked the shopkeeper to point you to the sale rack and you started walking to the back. You grabbed the first black dress you saw as you were in a rush and you knew you couldn’t go wrong with black. You all but ran to the dressing room to change into the silky slip dress. It was perfect, but you realized a nice dress wasn’t enough to get you into the high end clubs and casinos. You pulled out your bag and started to count your credits, in addition to the dress, it seems as though you could afford some fake jewelry and a cheap but nice pair of high heels. You made your way out of the dressing room and the shop keeper squealed, “Wow. That looks so good on you!”. You blushed and said “Thank you! Do you happen to have some inexpensive heels and jewelry here?”. “Oh, of course. I know just what to get you!” The keeper replied. You looked out the window as the girl ran to get your accessories. Mando was pacing back and forth across the entrance, on the look out for the target. You smiled and laughed because his actions reminded you of your master.
The girl came galloping to you with boxes spilling out of her arms. “Ok. I have a few things here.” She said, giggling. She pulled out a pair of strappy, deep red heels.
“These are amazing!” she handed them to you and you put them on. Next she opened a big black box to reveal a set of fake diamond and ruby jewelry.
You gasped “Are you sure these are fake?” you asked in astonishment.
“Mhmm. Completely. And they go perfectly with the shoes.” She took out the dramatic necklace and clasped it around your neck. It looked too good to be true sparkling on your chest. She then pulled out a pair of ruby tear drop earrings and a small diamond bracelet. She helped you put them on.
She spoke once more, “Now…I have one more thing. And I dont know if it’s too much but…” she opened one more box to reveal a pair of black, satin elbow length gloves.
“Oh maker. They’re perfect!” you practically squealed with excitement. You put them on and slipped her a few extra credits when you paid. You decided to put your hair up as you hadn’t washed it in a while, and walked out of the store to an impatient Mando continuing to pace.
“Worth the wait?“ you asked sarcastically, presenting yourself to the man. Mando turned to you and you could sense his demeanor change. He coughed and began walking to the casino where your target was allegedly staying. “We should probably get going.” he said. You nodded and followed behind him with a bruised ego. You thought you looked pretty good, better than good. Maybe he was just uncomfortable because he didn’t really know you? Yeah, that must be it.
The casino/hotel came into view and it was even more grand than you imagined. It was tasteful with romantic lighting and stone architecture. You turned to Mando and said “So…what now?”. “Well” he said, “We’ll try our best to sneak in through a side door, probably a kitchen. Considering I look like this, it’s probably best if you go in alone.” this worried you, and suddenly you began to doubt your abilities. The Mandalorian leaned down, “Hey, Y/N. I may not know you that well but I think you can handle this on your own.” he reached into his belt and handed you a small gadget. “Put this in your ear. I’ll tell you what to do, and if there’s a problem, I’ll come in after you. Ok?” you quickly nodded, “Ok….thank you, Mando.” He straightened and you walked towards the side of the building, “Don’t worry, mesh’la.” you snapped your head back thinking you misheard him. “What?” you asked. “I said, don’t worry.”
“Oh, I thought you called me something.” you said dumbly. He shrugged and you kept walking. You could feel his eyes burning into your body and you laughed to yourself. Mando sat on a nearby bench and cursed his forwardness by calling you mesh’la, it just slipped out. When he saw you exit the store, his heart stopped. He hadn’t felt like that in a long time, and he hoped he hadn’t upset you by ignoring your sarcastic joke earlier.
“Ok Mando, I’m upstairs.” you spoke to yourself and hoped Mando could hear you. “Alright. Our guy is going to be the center of attention. He’ll probably have a lot of guards and girls around him.” you rolled your eyes because every guy up here fit that description. You continued walking into the the club, taking in your surroundings. You made your way to the bar and got a drink in an attempt to blend in. You surveyed the club but found it difficult to see as there were so many people. Your eyes fell upon a rather ugly creature surrounded by women of all species and men with guns. “I think I got him, Mando.” you walked towards the man’s table. Your stride was cut short by an hand on your arm. “Hey baby, come dance with me.” a man about your age stood infront of you with an evil look in his eyes. You scoffed and pulled your arm away, “Thanks but I have to be somewhere.” you said. He grabbed you again “C’mon baby, just one dance?” you laughed dryly this time, “No really, please, I must go.” you insisted. He grabbed your arm with more force this time, “It wasn’t a question, baby.”. You started to panic and tried to escape his grasp. You swung and landed a right hook to his nose, then yelled, “Let go of me you prick!”. He pulled you closer to him and drunkenly sneered “Looks like I need to teach you a lesson in respect.”. He pulled you out of the club, cupping his bloody nose and you desperately tried to contact Mando, “Help, help Mando.” The Mandalorian heard your plea and ran over to where you had entered the building.
“Where are you? What’s going on?” he asked. You answered, “I dont know! He’s taking me somewhere!” You really started to panic as the man picked you up and screamed at you to shut up. You had no idea where he was taking you. The man pulled you through a door and you felt the night air hit your face, “Mando, I’m outside! I think I’m behind the building.” The Mandalorian ran without trying to bring too much attention to himself. Your wrist felt as though it might fall off with the force this man was pulling you with. He slammed you up against a stone wall outside the hotel. “You brat! I was just trying to have some fun…but now. Now you’ve forced my hand, and I’ll have to punish you.” You braced yourself for a punch, but it never came.
You opened your eyes and found yourself surrounded by 10 to 15 men. Your stomach dropped as you realized what he meant by “punish”. Suddenly you heard blaster fire and you turned to find Mando shooting at the assailants. Your relief soon vanished as you watched him quickly become overpowered by the mobsters. “Kriff” you whispered to yourself as you ducked and tried to come up with a plan. Your hand dropped to your thigh and you felt that familiar metallic object. You weighed the pros and cons of acting on your thoughts. During your mental debate Mando sustained several wounds and your decision was made immediately after the first injury. You stood, drawing the attention of several mobsters and Mando. You lifted your dress and some of the men started to laugh, “What are you gonna do, honey? Fuck us to death?” They laughed amongst themselves. You reached for your saber nestled under your dress and faked a laugh, “Something like that.” you said. You ignited the saber and their smiles faltered. You laughed for real this time, and increased your walking speed to a sprint, watching the group of mobsters promptly disperse. You were able to catch up to two of the men and swing your saber to make contact with their necks. You made quick work of 5 men. Mando had already taken out 6 of them. Leaving two to run off cowardly into the night.
You hastily retracted your saber and put it back under your dress. Mando stood silently. You started to fear you made a mistake, “I’m so sorry, I just didn’t know what else to do! Do you think they’ll come back after us? Is our cover blown?” you started to ramble. “If I knew you could fight like that, I would’ve told Karga you could handle your own mission.”, Mando huffed out. You laughed nervously. “Yeah…I guess.” you paused then panicked when you remember “The target, Mando! Kriff!” You started running back to the door. “Woah, woah mesh’la, you can’t go back in there. Let’s regroup and attack again tomorrow.” you nodded. “Plus…” he added, “You need to get started on cleaning the ship.” you laughed and rolled your eyes. “What does that mean, Mando? That word…mesh’la.” Mando froze and struggled to answer. “Oh…it just means friend, or something like that.” you smiled, “Friend.” you giggled, “Ok, friend, I’ll clean your ship, if you can get me a real pillow to sleep on.”. Mando held out his hand, “Deal…mesh’la.”.
You were washing the ship’s windows when the Mandalorian appeared from the cargo hold. “You know I was joking?”, he said. “Yeah well, a deal’s a deal, and this place was gross anyways.”, you laughed. “Hey uh, Y/N?”, you turned to face the silver armor with a nervous look. “Yeah?”, you asked hesitantly. “I know you’re a Jedi and all but uh…I’ve never seen a Jedi with a lightsaber that color before.”, you averted your gaze as your heartbeat quickened. He continued, “I- I don’t care what you did before this, it’s really none of my business but, if you’re in any trouble or if you’re hiding your intentions here, with me…I’m going to find out sooner or later, that’s kind of my job.”. You felt sick to your stomach. He finished his thought, “Look, I’m not trying to threaten you or anything but, you seem like a good, kind person and I think I know someone who could help you, if you need it?”. You shot a surprised look at him, and you worried you startled the man by reacting so swiftly. A soft smile graced your lips. “Thank you. I deeply appreciate your understanding. However, I should be honest with you.” this time, he thought he might throw up. “I don’t know if I need help…truth is, I might.”, the tears started to well up. “I’ve gone through a lot recently and things have been happening to me, abnormal things. I don’t know what’s causing them but I’m worried about what might happen to me if I ignore it.” you noticed how hard you were gripping the chair next to you and you quickly let go, trying to recover your dignity. “Um..”, you continued, wiping your eyes. “Who is this person?”, you asked. “She’s an…old friend. She’s quite familiar with your ways, and maybe she could give you some answers.”, Mando said. “A mesh’la?” you asked, laughing, in an attempt to lighten the mood and distract from your breakdown. Mando let out an airy laugh too, “Yeah…a mesh’la.”. “Where is she?”, you asked. “She’s a little ways away, on Corvus.”, you bit your lip. How would you even get there? Was it smart to drop everything and go? You asked Mando, “How can I get there?”, the man looked at his feet and back at you. He huffed and said “Let me take you.”, you practically gasped, “What? Mando no. You have a job to do, it’s not fair for me to ask this of you. I barely know you!” He laughed and spoke, “Yes, all those things are true. But Y/N I’m tried of all this running around, this loth cat and mouse game. I’m getting older and I’ve realized my passion no longer lies with this profession.” You guessed you looked stunned because Mando waved a hand in front of your face, shaking you out of your trance.
“You realized this just now?” you asked incredulously. “When I saw all those guys, I knew I was going to have to kill them. That was a given. In the past, I would’ve seen that as a challenge, something to accomplish. But tonight, it felt like just another obstacle to get to the peace I feel at the end of a hunt. I don’t want this anymore. I want to live a life before I get too old to do it.” You realized what he was suggesting, and never being one to turn down an adventure you said “Are we really doing this?”. The Mandalorian nodded and you couldn’t believe the turn this night had taken. You began feeding off each other’s excited, skittish energy. Practically reading each other’s minds, you both sat in your respective piloting chairs and Mando plugged in the coordinates to Corvus.

The Prequel AUs--Background Info
I started developing this particular timeline years ago, and I’ve tried to adhere as close to canon as possible.  My main goal with this AU was to further develop relationships and characters while, again, keeping as close to canon characterization as I can.  My main focus is the relationship between Padmé and Anakin, but I also touch on their relationships with Bail and Obi-Wan. Other characters may make an appearance.   The works in this particular AU are a non contiguous series of vignettes that take place in my prequel AU.
As far as canon goes, I use both 1-6 movie canon and Legends canon--comics, books, cartoons, etc.  The main plot points from the movies stay the same, but the people involved may change.  For example, in this AU it is Bail Organa and Obi-Wan whose investigations lead to Kamino and the start of the Clone Wars, and while Anakin is present in the arena, Padme is not.  (I do not use nucanon at all).
The biggest change is in the timeline.  Because I wanted time for relationships to develop and grow, I have added about 10 years to the timeline, all based around Anakin’s life.  While I may write a longer timeline as a part of a later chapter, the basic timeline is as follows:
Age 0-5: on the run with his mother (he was born a slave, but his mother ran with him after his birth)
Age 5-12: slave in Watto’s shop
Age 12: The Ascent (still not totally pleased with this one, working on something else)
Age 12-19: Jedi apprentice with Obi-Wan (majority of time spent on Coruscant receiving training under Council masters, with the occasional off-world trip)
Age 19: The Massacre
Age 19-26: working on Lars moisture farm (after leaving the Order following the death of his mother and the massacre in the Tusken Raider camp)
Age 26: The Return
Age 26-33: Serving as a general in the Clone Wars with Open Circle Fleet (Obi-Wan serves with him, as do Padme and Bail as part of Senate oversight)
Age 33: The Fall (in which he becomes Vader and is consumed by the Dark Side)
This means that he meets Padme and Qui-Gon at 12, not 9.  He and Padme maintain a friendship through the years of his apprenticeship, but do not get together until about 2 years into the war.  Both Bail and Obi-Wan are aware of their relationship, though not their eventual marriage.
I hesitate to go into too much detail, as I’d like for character to come across in my stories, but if you ever want any additional background knowledge, I’d be happy to share.
