i'm not sure if it was mentioned here already, but there was this movie called anacondas the hunt for the blood orchid that would always be on old sci fi channel back then. I always thought the bad ass boat captain Bill Johnson and his friend Tran Wu were fucking hot and they were in my fantasies for a while lol. That's all I remember of that movie. You could do some x readers of them sometime? movies free on tubi btw or sflix.
Caught it the day Tubi took it off! It’s the kind of horror movie I probably wouldn’t have found that scary but would have watched over and over as a kid. Like Tremors or the Mummy films. Fictional snakes, regardless of realism, never really scared me. Bugs/arachnids sure did, though.
It might take me a while to get around to writing them smut, but it needs to be said Bill and Tran have very nice arms.

Movie Review | Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (Little, 2004)
Stray observations:
There's a cute little monkey, who spends the movie doing cute little monkey things and getting a lot of cute little monkey reaction shots. This is the best character in the movie, by virtue of being a cute little monkey and the other characters being largely terrible.
Most of the characters suffer from being defined in either the blandest or most annoying terms, and being played by actors who are too... smooth, too conventionally attractive for this material. The actors all look like they're from a network TV pilot that was never picked up. Actors in jungle adventures should have a certain texture, look like they're barely keeping together under the humidity, like their diets consist mostly of liquid lunches and they've seen some shit, like they've spent all this time squatting in the bush, not staying in their hotel rooms. Only Andy Anderson has anything resembling these qualities, and let's just say he exits the movie before he really enters the proceedings.
The character played by Salli Richardson-Whitfield spends the entire movie being a Negative Nancy and gleefully predicting the failure of the mission. This character is initially quite shrill and off-putting, but the second the mission goes south and she suggests they get the hell out of the jungle, she becomes the most sensible character despite becoming no less shrill.
I mostly felt bad for Morris Chestnut, who went from playing one of the leads in Boyz n the Hood to being the villain in a Steven Seagal movie and getting fourth billing in this, despite putting in more effort than the bulk of the cast.
Without spoiling too much, this makes the same observation about human nature as some of the Italian cannibal movies, that the jungle is an unforgiving place but also an amoral canvas, and that man is not necessarily evil but can be freed by such an environment to unleash his worse nature, provided he isn't first killed by one of the many things that can and will kill you at the earliest opportunity.
A choice bit from Ebert's review: "The jungle where the blood orchid blooms is inhabited by giant anacondas. In fact, although they are solitary creatures, the snakes congregate in this very place during the rainy season, to form (or attend, perhaps) a "mating ball," so that the river and the jungle seem to be teeming with them. We have heard about salmon swimming upstream to mate and birds flying thousands of miles to their summer nesting homes, and perhaps that explains why the anaconda, which is a native of the South American rain forests and is unknown in Borneo, makes the arduous journey across the Pacific Ocean and up the river to the precise location of this movie."
I watched this because it's directed by Dwight H. Little. I understand he has a background in directing horror, and you can see that horror movie energy manifest in the lurid bonecrunching sadism of Marked For Death, which is the only other film I'd seen of his. Sadly, little of that quality is present here. The anaconda attacks are nowhere near vicious enough, nor frequent enough, and when they do happen, the proceedings are not exaggerated enough to overcome the dodgy CGI. That being said, the movie is attractively shot and coloured by a nice rainy, humid, overcast atmosphere that carries a sense of dread that the movie doesn't make good on.

Anaconda 1 (1997), 2: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004), 3: Offspring (2008), and 4: Trail of Blood (2009)
Giant snakes have been created by ingesting a rare orchid, making them larger and much more deadly.
This series makes an attempt at scientific coherence which begins relatively believable but eventually devolves into nonsense with the occasional word “serum” thrown in. The setting for the first two is rather good as the rainforest provides a constant sense of both isolation and threat. There are some other areas of interest and suspense like the odd star, a monkey, and a few decent examples of direction.
The acting for this franchise is consistently bad. Some of the actors are worse than others but even the half decent ones never quite manage to pull up the awful performances. Most of the effects are also passable if you try really hard to suspend your disbelief but most of the time are either laughable or are just too bad to do anything but cringe at.
The second film is easily the best one because it has a good setting, the most coherent narrative which actually feels like it has a direction and purpose, and has the least bad performances overall. The effects are also mostly bearable and the explanations for the amount of snakes, their behaviour, and how they’ve come to exist are the most coherent.
The third and fourth film takes a major step downwards in terms of quality. For one thing they’re no longer set in a rainforest; it’s mostly just a small wood where the trees are far enough apart that a snake couldn’t possibly hide in the branches unless the characters were deliberately pretending not to see it. Also the plot of 4 is basically the same as 3 but without David Hasselhoff but still manages to somehow be worse.
Anaconda: 3/10 -This one’s bad but it’s got some good in it, just there-
Anacondas 2: 4/10 -It’s below average, but only just!-
Anaconda 3: 2/10 -It’s not THE worst, that’s something else. But...-
Anacondas 4: 2/10 -It’s not THE worst, that’s something else. But...-
-In the first film, strong language was dubbed to achieve a lower rating of PG-13, however the audio sounds different on the words and the lips don’t synchronize with the new dialogue.
-The fourth film attempts to combine aspects of the previous three installments: anthropologists, the orchid, and a mutant snake.
-The anacondas are given slanted pupils to make them look more villainous but in reality they have round pupils.

Hulu New Releases: June 2021
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Hulu’s list of new releases for June 2021 is highlighted by a host of useful library titles and one fascinating original film.
The original film in question is the one that lends its delightful photo of Pierce Brosnan delivering a baby to this post. False Positive stars and was written by Ilana Glazer (Broad City). It sounds like a really fun, creepy time with a synopsis that reads: “After months of trying and failing to get pregnant, Lucy (Glazer) and Adrian (Justin Theroux) finally find their dream fertility doctor in the illustrious Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl, Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm, and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him, and her own “birth story.” Cool!
Hulu’s other original offerings aren’t too inspiring this month. Only Love, Victor season 2 on June 11 moves the needle much. If you count “FX on Hulu” as Hulu then June 17 sees the arrival of Dave season 2. Dave was one of TV’s best surprises last year and it’s nice to have it back.
After those two, it’s just a bunch of library titles. Thankfully, those library titles are fairly intriguing. Arachnophobia, The Dark Knight, Kick-Ass, and Slumdog Millionaire all premiere on June 1. Willy’s Wonderland, featuring Nic Cage’s battle against animatronic puppets, arrives on June 13.

Karl Yune as Ozai
Sooo apparently Rick Yune has a younger and equally as handsome actor brother who looks even more like Ozai than he does. Huh. Welp, this makes the second Avatar dad I’ve recast now. It’s honestly harder to cast adult character because there are so many great options out there.
Karl Yune is an actor best known for playing Tran in “Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid” (2004), Locust in “The Forbidden Warrior” (2005), Koichi in “Memoirs of a Geisha” (2005), Alex the 2nd A.D. in “Freezerburn” (2005), Tak Mashido in “Real Steel” (2011), Maseo Yamashiro in the TV series “Arrow” (2014-2015), Choi in “The Invitation” (2015), and Brett Tucker in the upcoming TV series “FraXtur” (2020-2021).

Anacondas: The hunt for the blood orchid (2004)
Quick Stats:
Recommended if you want: a fun adventure film Level of Attention needed: medium If anything, watch it for: John Messner, who seems to be the only person in the film if you are looking through the IMDb photo page of this movie Overall: A- HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS-
I remember watching the original Anaconda with Jennifer Lopez when I was in the single digits, and how the movie was just a backdrop for Jennifer Lopez in a wet t-shirt. But Anacondas the hunt for the blood orchid has surprised me because it was actually a lot of fun. Not too much horror, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie.
there was almost no waiting time for getting into the story, which I found refreshing. the story at first had some one-dimensional characters, including a macho macho man. But as the film progressed, none of these characters was the toxic extremity of their tropes and were able to be seen as proper people.
Every hurdle the ensemble ran into, it was a logical and understandable plot point, and it made the characters seem more human and were easier to get into the story. There was not so much horror in the film, but it was a very fun action movie, the pacing did not let up at any point and was consistent throughout the whole film. I would recommend this movie, as even though the CG does not hold up as much, but its ability to thrill still holds strong.
