Took a few days off because it was my partner's birthday and also I went out to see friends for the first time in a long time and also I worked late and also I wanted to actually set up a game plan for the week with these

Ok nikkeposting but I had to talk about my favorite Pilgrim. Nikke spoilers below the cut but yall probably don't care lmaooo. Believe it or not Nikke has a fantastic story

Goddess squad infodump:

The members of the Goddess Squad are named after Grimm's Fairytales (Rapunzel, Red Hood, Rapunzel, Snow White), with the exception of Dorothy (who is named after the Brothers Grimm's mother, and is the first of the Grimms Models in-universe) Scarlet and Liliweiss (who is a bible reference), , and the original nikke, who all other nikkes were based on). In-universe, the Grimms models were famous for their strength and effectiveness. One of their ranks, a second-generation Grimms Model named Cinderella, was corrupted and became Anachiro the Heretic. She was defeated, though not killed by the Goddess Squad shortly after.

In the main story, the Goddess Squad are living legends after they defended the Ark during its construction, before the World Government betrayed them by ordering them to destroy the elevator and seal the Ark before they were able to enter, the events of which were detailed in 0.5 Anni's Overzone event. By then, Scarlet has mellowed out, though.

1st Anni's Red Ash event gave us our first glimpse of Scarlet's original personality, where she was closed off and obsessed with avenging her sister, whose sword she carries. She frequently picks fights with the other members of the Goddess Squad with the intent of improving her abilities.

Here's the thing though, is in Korean, Scarlet's name in Korean is Hongryeon, named after the second sister in the story of Janghwa and Hongryeon.

It's a tragic story, where the sisters' father remarries to a woman that abuses them horribly, before framing Jangwha for having a miscarriage before her marriage. Janghwa runs away, and the stepmother's oldest son drowns her in the lake. Hongryeon followed soon after, taking her own life in her grief. A rash of mayors' deaths followed the girls' before one had a dream where the sisters appeared to him, and told him to inspect the 'evidence' of Janghwa's miscarriage, which revealed that the alleged miscarriage had been a rat that had been killed and placed in Janghwa's bed. The stepmother and the eldest son that had killed Janghwa were executed, and the father remarried. The twins he had by his third wife were named Janghwa and Hongryeon after the daughters he had lost.

This could indicate one of two things: Scarlet represents the original Hongryeon, whose sister died. Or she could be the second Hongryeon, seeking to avenge the Janghwa and Hongryeon before her.

If you read my fat lore infodump earlier, you'll notice that Cinderella was missing from the original Goddess Squad. As a second-gen, she was produced after the first few, and was corrupted before she was able to join their ranks. You'll also notice that Hongryeon's story occupies a similar place, a girl that is horrifically abused by a stepmother before an authority figure finally discovers the truth. Unfortunately for the original Janghwa and Hongryeon, it was too late for them. Anyway I'm obsessed with Scarlet.

honestly a nikke many people wanted to be playable and look, she is!!

cinderella, former member of old tales, biggest fan of the goddess squad ( she will fight tooth and nail to secure this spot of hers ) and all round, precious baby that wants to rewrite an old story and make things right again.

anachiro?? never heard of her.

also unfortunately, the biggest threat against the goddess' squad. poor girl had to fight against her idols. the moment she does see them though, she wouldn't know whether or not to run, hide, freeze, greet them or all of them above. maybe not the latter actually, running seems good.

❝ i am a nikke, a robot in more simpler terms. most of my time were humans who volunteered to become a nikke, myself included. ❞ she could have further explained, talked about the grimms models, of the goddess' squad and the like but she was, unsurprisingly, distracted by the crystal carlotta had created. with careful hands, cinderella would reach over to cup it, taking her time to run ruby orbs over the edges. ❝ how beautiful!! with a little bit of polishing, this would make a wonderful mirror. thank you so much, miss carlotta. ❞

◈ Carlotta's upbringing wasn't normal, even for a child of Ragunna. The Montelli family had seen the potential she possessed and adopted her for that potential. And so, she had been trained as all children of the family were. It wasn't something she often dwelled on, but she had been denied a normal childhood as a result. "My, you're quite the smoother talker, aren't you?" She responded to the woman's compliment with a jest.

"I could say the same of your own name. It sounds like something out of a fairy tale." She didn't hail from a world where she could have known that this was literally the case. "A beautiful name for a beautiful woman. But what is this about a "squad"? Might I assume that you're a soldier of some kind?" Considering her marksmanship, it was a logical line to draw.

While inquiring, Carlotta held out her palm so that a small crystal could take form. She held it towards Cinderella. "Here. It holds no monetary value, but consider it an offering to commemorate our meeting."
