Well first of all, huge congratulations of finishing such a massive project!! Shaking your hand welcome to the kotlc fic hall of fame good sir

As for what to do, in my experience you'll spend the next few hours kind of shell shocked. You know, logically, that it's over. But whatever routine you've built hasn't fully broken yet; the other part of your brain doesn't understand you won't be sitting down for your usual writing session tomorrow/the day after/next week/etc. That you won't be posting next weekend. that you can use that time for something else

And all of the sudden so many possibilities open up in front of you! so much time and headspace now free. what are you meant to fill it with? where do you go from here?

you'll find it, with time. and time will progress to a point you'll forget it was ever taking up so much space in the first place. you'll look back and go how on earth did I do all that? or maybe you'll forget you even did it at all (I certainly do)

but in the meantime you kinda just go a little feral alone by yourself staring at the walls feeling the sudden presence of this hole in your chest 👍

H: How would you describe your style?

I think it wholly depends on what I'm writing. I basically adapt to the setting where if it's more grounded I'll go for a more casual, conversational style, but the more fantastical or emotional it gets the more I pull out the "flourishes", which is where I think my writing shines the most

K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?

Definitely the Soulmate AU where the moment you meet your soulmate, you see a vision of how they're going to die. I think about that one a lot.

N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?

Pretty much all of them! lol. It's my main motivation for writing. I think of someone and go "oooh I wish someone would write this" and then if I wait long enough I eventually go "no one ever helps me around this goddamn house" and then that's how I write.

🎀 how do you decide when something is done?

I'm actually super unconventional in that wordcount is one of the first things I decide when I come up with an idea LOL

It's just that I try to set a hard limit on how much I want to invest in one particular work because I have so many ideas, and having a rough frame of how long it will be helps me not get overwhelmed.

So when I write, I will split it up into segments and for example say "this part will be about 600-700 words long" and if I reach that amount I move on to the next one. It doesn't always work of and it's a habit I slowly try to break free from, but there you go!

I love when I get to write real abstract and surreal and mine-fuck-y, so two of my favorite passages are:

Summerland, the Blocksberg at Walpurgisnacht, the island Aeaea where the witch Circe and her lionesses roamed. Now, Samwell. [...] He saw timelines split before him, at some point met every past and future version of himself, saw the Big Bang and the Heat Death of the universe, blossoms full of eyes and the melting sky. There were snakes and swans. Nymphs and angels danced between them, flowers bloomed and wilted, entire forests grew and died in the room, and by the time Chowder came to, he was on the floor trembling and covered in sweat from top to bottom and he needed a shower.

Blue feels his brain bend inwards, feels reality topple over and break; the world falling upside-down as a psychic assault so violent that the sensations coursing through his body instantly erase themselves from memory washes over him. He crumbles on top of Fuji, who heaves under his weight, completely unable to move. Awakeness washes over him in starburned technicolor, the sounds of hollow planets crashing into each other and the texture of outer space and the smell of digital deep-fry, as all his senses give out and he can only lie there and let it happen to him.

Hey, Marina?

You have TIME. Not everything needs to be done by the end of the week, and you're allowed to let ideas marinate (lol) and simmer until you're ready and really have something to say.

It's good to write every day, but not every day needs to be 5000 words.

Even writing just one sentence, one word, is not a failure.
