What if.........Rokudo was the son of Koby and Luffy?
Rokudo was the only person to escape Nanba Prison. Not much is known about him other than him being the father to Jyugo and lover to Touko.
While I did want to make Jyugo the son of Koby and Luffy, Rokudo hair design did remind me of Luffy's. When I looked more into him it makes sense for this jail breaking criminal to be the son of the Pirate King and The Hero of the Marines.
Did I mention him being the grandson to the Leader of The Revolutionary Army? The nephew to the Chief of Staff and The Second Commander to the Whitebeard Pirates? And the Great-Grandson to Garp the Fist?
In this au, after the break in at Impel Down the World Government decided to take a new step and took an alliance with the Higher ups for Nanba Prison.
This happened soon after Monkey D. Luffy was declared Pirate King.
Strangely enough, after this declaration the new hero of the Marines, Captain Koby, was announced pregnant. In a private meeting between Garp the First and the Budda Sengoku.
Sengoku had no clues on who was the father to this child. At first his thought was Helmeppo, but he quickly disclosed that after it was revealed Helmeppo was away on a mission for almost 2 months.
Garp knew who it was.
But after what happened at MarineFord Garp did not want to risk it.
He did not want to risk his great grandchilds life.
Even if they were the child of the forbidden love between a pirate and a marine.
(Note: I am sorry if any of you don't understand this. I might update this, if I have time)

Things characters from Inazuma Eleven would never say :
Endou *pats your head*: ... you should drop sakka, you're bad at this
Haruna : honestly, i think my bro is cringe 😬
Kabeyama : i am tought, i am brave, i am fearless, i am a war machine who will destroys whoever dares to mock my name. Bring on the fight, if you're a real man. And prepare to DIE
Touko : hey girls, what do you think about Endou?
Natsumi : he's alright😐
Aki : i'm cool with him😐
Fuyuka : whatever😑
Kazemaru and Hiroto : i am so normal about him🫥
Touko : same🤷♀️

Furukabu : hey boy. Let's me tell you a secret. *whispers* i don't have my driving license 😉🤭
*under the brigde during the storm*
Fubuki : wow... tis made me realized : i was acting real fockin autismo lately. Guess i'll have to see meself at therapy then!
Gouenji : ... i am also realizing that the way i treat teammates venting their problems isn't healthy... i think i'll go to therapy myself since there might be some unresolved issues underlying within
Kidou : oh... i didn't think this through🫤
Fudou : money doesn't buy happiness and being vulnerable isn't equal being weak
Someoka : hey, there are strikers that are better than me in the team ! Good for them ☺️
Endou : *sighs* i don't feel like playing sakka today. Let's have a lazy week-end

Aphrodi *descends from the skies in a halo of light* : ✨️I hate myself✨️
Endou : wait... you're saying that we should be the ones saving the earth from sakka aliens that commit act of terrorism across the country because we won some junior sakka tournament ? Wtf no, we are just middleschoolers! Just call the army or something
Gouenji : *explaining why he is late*
Atsuya : why am i a jerk with Shirou ?🥺
Kanon, the Ogres, Fey, Kinako and the children of the second phase : we can timetravel, but shall not resort to this to achieve our goal. The continuity is something fragile, we should not mess with it
Tachimukai : i am just as good as Endou.💪💪💪
Kageyama : my goal is to make soccer better, since I love this sport so much.
Kidou *taking a test* : psst, hey! I didn't study for this. What are your answers?

Midorikawa : you right, let's not do this
Shindou : all these bullshits doesn't even faze me😑
And finally,...
Temna : sakka was a mistake

What Touko does in mahoyo just makes me want to know more about her to be honest. Sure, the story functions fine with the information given and one can definitely interpret and piece things together, but one can't help but want to know more about the type of person who makes an army of self deprecating robots in her or her sister's (I can't remember which) image, is like five or so different things from a doctor to a scientist or whatever, and still actively chooses to hunt down her 17 year old sister and destroy everything she has ever had and worked for. Like, even with the context you can build up in your head, you can't help but want more details on that sort of thing.

Missing records, love, and mystery in "Bloom Into You" [Part 1]
Yuu in the student council record room
For today's post, I thought I'd look at the sixth episode of one of my favorite yuri anime, Bloom Into You (called Yagate Kimi ni Naru in romanized Japanese), titled "Words Kept Repressed / Words Used to Repress," where a record room in the Student Council building is shown and is a key part of the episode itself. For this post, I'm using the subtitled version rather than the dubbed version, since I prefer subs to dubs, but that's a discussion for another day.
Reprinted from my Wading Through the Cultural Stacks WordPress blog. Originally published on Nov. 14, 2020.
In the episode, Yuu talks to Sayaka, who tells her that Touko is so wrapped up in the stage show because of what happened to the Student Council president seven years prior and entreats Yuu to investigate it. She goes back to the Student Council building's records room [1] and finds that the whole book with records for that year is missing... I wonder why? Dun dun dun! She later locks up the student council building, after getting a key from her teacher (who will be mentioned later in this post) and determines that someone removed the documents specifically from seven years ago for a "specific reason," although she doesn't know what that reason is yet.
Oh no, the records are missing!
Later in the day, after her class ends, she goes to a records room, which you could call a records center or a repository more broadly, at her high school to do some more investigation. A teacher (basically like a records custodian) comes in to ask if she found what she was looking for and she says no. He also seems perplexed that the records are missing as well (he should have done better records management?). She thinks about it more while sitting behind the desk at her family's bookstore, asking herself, "even the records in the main building are missing?"
This is a case even worse than the deletion of records about the clone army by then-Jedi Dooku, later named Count Dooku! There is no Jocasta Nu to declare that if records aren't there they don't exist, an obvious falsehood, so that's good.

Continued in part 2
Notes
[1] The same room was also shown in the fourth episode, "The Distance Between Fondness and Kisses / Not One of the Characters." In that episode, there is a scene where Yuu is putting away files, along with Sayaka and later in the episode, Maki talks to Sayaka in that room about her insecurities, when it comes to Touko.

lgbtq+ anime for pride month
decided to make this for anyone looking for new recommendations, or anyone who’s wanted to get into anime but doesn’t know where to start! all recs will include a summary, genres, applicable representation, and how accessible it is to people brand new to anime, as well as any major content warnings.
(a quick disclaimer for those new to anime - some series on here will NOT have explicit rep, but rather be heavily coded or have implied queer themes. however, these are included generally because the implication is strong enough to treat it as text, or because the series has been generally accepted as queer. i’ll be sure to clarify whether something is canon or coded in each entry.)
ouran high school host club (comedy, romance) summary: haruhi fujioka is an honor student on scholarship at the prestigious ouran academy, who’s only looking for a quiet place to study when he runs into the notorious host club. in his frantic attempt to leave, he accidentally breaks a vase valued at 8 million yen. club leader tamaki suou has an idea for how he can pay them back - working for the host club. rep: crossdressing/drag are staples of this series, nothing explicitly stated but there are definite themes of gender identity exploration, and the show doesn’t shy away from homosexual themes or ideas accessibility: newcomer friendly! the english dub of this series is notably good. content warnings: some 2000s-era language in regards to gay/trans people that may be seen as offensive today, one scene that implies intent of sexual assault (while there is no actual assault and it is quickly played off, it may still be upsetting to some viewers)
yuri!!! on ice (sports) summary: yuri katsuki is a professional figure skater, recovering from a crushing defeat at the grand prix final. he returns to his family home to debate what he plans to do for next season. he goes to the local ice rink to clear his mind, and shows his old friend there something he’s been practicing - his idol victor nikiforov’s latest world-winning routine. unbeknownst to yuri, he’s being filmed. the video goes viral, and before he knows it victor is standing right in front of him, offering to be his coach. rep: canon mlm romance accessibility: newcomer friendly! content warnings: a few scenes that briefly display anxiety/panic attack-like symptoms
given (drama, romance) summary: one day on his way to his favorite napping spot in school, ritsuka uenoyama finds a boy, mafuyu satou, dozing in his spot, clutching onto a guitar with rusted, broken strings. uenoyama wakes him up, berating him for not taking better care of his instrument. mafuyu, noticing his knowledge of the instrument, begs uenoyama to repair it and teach him to play. uenoyama initially refuses, but mafuyu is persistent, even following uenoyama to band practice. it’s not until uenoyama hears mafuyu sing that he changes his tune, offering lessons if he joins the band as their singer. rep: canon mlm romance accessibility: newcomer friendly! content warnings: discussions of grief and loss additional note: given also has a movie sequel, which has a scene involving sexual assault.
sweet blue flowers / aoi hana (romance, slice of life) summary: fumi manjoume and akira okudaira were best friends in elementary school, until fumi moved away. now in high school, fumi is back and attending the same school as akira once again. their relationship isn’t the same now, though. the two must navigate the new trials of high school while trying to revive their waning friendship. rep: canon wlw romance accessibility: newcomer friendly!
bloom into you / yagate kimi ni naru (drama, romance) summary: yuu koito has always dreamed of the sort of soft, heart-fluttering love in shoujo manga. when a boy finally confesses to her though she feels...empty. she begins to wonder if she only understands love conceptually, but cannot feel it. yuu is still mulling over how to respond to her suitor when she witnesses the student council president, touko nanami, turn down a love confession of her own. she decides to approach touko for advice, but then the unexepected happens - touko confesses to yuu. rep: canon wlw romance accessibility: newcomer friendly! content warnings: some mild sexual content, depictions of homophobia
stars align / hoshiai no sora (drama) summary: toma shinjou is desperate to recruit new members to the boys’ soft tennis club, which is on the verge of being disbanded due to poor performance. maki katsuragi, the new transfer student, immediately catches his interest due to his quick reflexes. toma persuades maki to join, and maki’s skill quickly becomes driving momentum for the entire team. through their shared sport, the boys of the soft tennis club explore their own capabilities and hardships as they navigate life. rep: canon nonbinary character, discussions of gender identity and sexuality accessibility: some prior knowledge of anime tropes and themes is desirable, but not necessary content warnings: discussions and depictions of abuse, bullying, and violence
mahou shoujo madoka magica (fantasy, psychological drama) summary: madoka kaname and sayaka miki are good friends, regular middle school girls with regular lives. one day, the mysterious homura akemi transfers into their class, and strange happenings begin occuring. they meet a strange cat-like creature known as kyuubey, injured and on the run from homura. as thanks for saving its life, kyuubey offers them a reward - he’ll grant any wish they desire, and in return they’ll become magical girls with the power to help others. homura, despite being a magical girl herself, discourages them, saying everything is not as it seems. rep: sapphic themes and implied romantic feelings accessibility: some prior knowledge of anime tropes and themes is desirable content warnings: blood, violence, major character death, unreality, grief additional note: madoka magica has 3 movie sequels, with a 4th on the way. while the first two are merely recaps of the series, the 3rd, rebellion, is a continuation of the story.
no. 6 (sci-fi, drama) summary: the world has been ravaged by war - the last safe haven of mankind lies in six walled-off city-states. shion is an elite resident of one such city-state, no. 6, given priority housing and treatment due to his exceptional abilities. one night, a fugitive by the name of nezumi sneaks into shion’s room, and threatens to kill him. despite knowing he’s a fugitive, shion instead tends to his wounds and shelters him for the night. when his transgression is discovered by the authorities, shion and his mother lose their elite status, and are relocated. now just a regular citizen, shion begins to discover a new side to the city he’s called home. years after their first meeting, he reunites with nezumi once more - their meeting putting in motion a series of events that will unveil the secrets of no. 6. rep: canon mlm romance, trans/nonbinary coded character accessibility: some prior knowledge of anime tropes and themes is desirable, but not necessary content warnings: blood, violence, major character death, body horror, insects (bees)
seraph of the end / owari no seraph (supernatural, action) summary: a virus ravages the human race, infecting and killing everyone above the age of 13. their food source now threatened, vampires come out of the shadows to take the remaining humans captive. the children of the hyakuya orphanage are among the survivors. yuuichirou detests the vampires, and is determined to escape. mikaela has hatched a plan to do just that. the hyakuya kids make their way to the exit of the vampire city, only to be ambushed by a vampire noble. yuuichirou is the only one to escape. he’s found by the japanese imperial demon army, who say they’ll use him against the vampires. believing the rest of the children dead, yuuichirou joins immediately, determined to seek revenge against the monsters who killed his only family. rep: implied romantic feelings between two men (in the manga the anime is based on this is canon, and the localization team views the relationship as romantic) accessibility: some prior knowledge of anime tropes and themes is desirable, but not necessary content warnings: blood, violence, death, body horror, unreality
banana fish (action, crime drama) summary: ash lynx is a runaway on the streets of nyc, taken in and raised by the godfather of the mafia, dino golzine. now the leader of his own gang, he begins investigating “banana fish” - the only two words his brother will speak after returning from the iraq war. ash meets his friend skip at a bar, where he’s shunichi ibe and eiji okumura, japanese photographers covering american gangs. however, their conversation is cut short, as dino’s men storm the bar and kidnap skip and eiji. ash sets out to rescue them and continue his investigation. rep: canon mlm romance accessibility: some prior knowledge of anime tropes and themes is desirable, but not necessary content warnings: blood, violence, major character death, drugs, homophobia, pedophilia, sexual assault, rape

you all want another danganronpa game? here’s my pitch: an ultra despair girls like game, but it’s a continuation of danganronpa: IF
you play as mukuro, who has fully defected from junko’s cause and is now working for future foundation, are the mission of the game is to capture the remnants of despair one by one.
the game starts as mukuro is deployed on a mission to towa city with chihiro and hiro. their mission is to capture kazuichi, but along the way, mahiru joins the fray. this would be a tutorial round, with chihiro gifting mukuro a hacking (mircophone) gun. chihiro does most the explaining, but hiro has his helpful moments too. the levels boss battle: fight a mini army of Monokumas controlled by kazuichi, while being distracted my mahiru.
after you catch them, mukuro is sent on multiple difference missions, in whatever order:
teaming up with sayaka and leon to capture ibuki and hiyoko through an almost “battle of the bands” set up. the two groups try to outplay each other, and mukuro is sent to meddle with ibuki and hiyoko’s equipment to help sayaka and leon win.
mukuro joins aoi and sakura for a similar round: sakura spars with akane, while nekomaru and aoi support them from the side. mukuro must sneak around and capture nekomaru while he’s distracted, and after that, must take down akane after sakura lands a blow on her.
then, mukuro meets with mondo and kiyotaka, and they join up against a sonia and Fuyuhiko. I feel like sonia and taka would debate politics over chess, and mukuro has to snipe her with a tranquilizer. meanwhile, i see fuyu and mondo doing some sort of duel? and similarly with akane, mukuro has to get fuyuhiko while he’s out.
directly after fuyuhiko, mukuro has to duel peko, one on one. it would be one of the hardest parts of the game, with the girls being equally matched.
next, hifumi and celeste would join mukuro to take down the imposter and gundam. this is the one im most unsure about. i think hifumi would distract the imposter because he’d remind them of ryota? also just. celeste and gundam? more like battle of the goths.
mukuro could cycle back to towa to meet with touko and komaru, and they would chase down mikan. i could see mikan using some sort of laughing gas to disorient them? but they would eventually catch her. then, nagito would appear, and another chase would occur, but nagito would escape.
finally, mukuro would get a call from makoto. he would update her and tell her that he, kyoko and byakuya have captured teruteru, and they have sights on both nagito and izuru. enter the biggest boss battle in the game, having to defeat nagito’s insane luck and izuru practically being god. in the end, izuru “surrenders” and with that, all the despairs have been captured, and makoto hints about jabberwock island and the neo world program before the game ends.

On the Decline of Mage Characterization in Ancillary Type-Moon Works (or On Magi Getting Flanderized Into One-Dimensional Evil Arrogant Sods) Part 1: The Matter of Magi Themselves
Yes, I am dumb enough and obsessed enough to basically write an entire essay on this. Yes, the title is pretentious as all hell.
A disclaimer before we start though, this is not directed at or meant to condemn or call out or mock or invalidate the many a Tumblr shitpost on evil arrogant magi getting owned by Guda or various other characters. It may not be humor personally up my alley, but I understand the appeal, and it’s not like there isn’t some grain of truth to them. Likewise this isn’t meant to in any way condone anything Nasuverse magi. A fair amount of them are evil regardless of mitigating circumstances, a lot of the ones that aren’t outright evil have capacity to be evil because of ethos and mindset, and the acts they commit are certainly evil. I am not condoning them, or dismissing them as not evil. I simply urge a more nuanced rather than simplistic analysis of that evil. This also unfortunately omits Mahoyo, which probably has quite a bit of insight, because I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet, thus rendering me a fake fan you should not listen to. Thank you for your consideration. Also, spoilers.
This first part is primarily concerned with the inhumanity of magi and misconceptions about magi and their ethos as a whole, while the next part will actually go into the history of magus villains in Type-Moon works and what I feel is their decline, and build upon and further points of this part. There may be a potential third part on the Crypters, Gordolf, and Olga, the modern faces of Nasuverse magi and the greatest illustration that magi are far more nuanced, complex, pitiful and yet admirable, than they aren’t, and Nasu’s thesis statement on the power of love and life.
(Note: Okay my theme is actually pretty eyesearing to the point I recommend you read this on dash, I’ll go get it fixed)
"Do you know what it is that magi are aiming for?"
After a moment of blankness, Gray replied with a difficult expression.
"Umm...I heard about it in class. What was it...the Spiral of Origin?"
"Right. The Spiral of Origin, or more simply the Root. Sometimes it's referred to as「 」, the thing for which there can be no reference. It is the source of everything, the 'zero' from which all matter and phenomena flow. Ah, but now that I'm trying to put it into words, I'm realizing that's not a good idea. After all, even the idea of 'zero' has baggage that makes it unsuitable as a comparison."
"Regardless, the goal of magi is to eventually reach that place. Of course, there are also those who simply derive pleasure from touching the supernatural, or from being superhuman. Because we are weak, we fall to that diversion. But in the end, that's not our ultimate goal."
For modern magi, most understood that reaching the root was something that just wasn't possible for them. After all, even though magecraft itself had been in a state of continuing decline since the Age of Gods, there were no reports of anyone facing that past and trying to return to it. Likely, the appearance in the Far East of the fifth - and often called the last - Magician was the same as the gate to the Root being all but closed to everyone else.
Even so, we didn't give up.
Anyone who would give up in a situation like this would never have become a magus to begin with.
Ironically enough, despite opening up with a quote from Lord El-Melloi II Case Files, which I’ll have some critique for, the crux of my thesis is this. As originally presented in Kara no Kyoukai, and generally only kept up to a meaningful degree in other Nasu written works like Stay Night, Clock Tower 2015, and Grand Order, magi were the piteous, tragic, inhuman not as in inhumane but as in a broken machine product of an impossible ideal and a broken system. They were the villains, yes, unambiguously so, but at the same time they were sympathetic and nuanced to an extent that would decline down the road.
You see, Araya. A mage always lives hurriedly. What for? If it was for themselves alone they wouldn't bother with the outside world. So why do they intrude upon the rest of the world? Why do they rely upon it? What will they achieve with that power? What will they save with the Ars Magna (Ars Magna: Meaning 'great secret technique', it stands not for a technique that is not learnt through study but for a mystery that is secretly passed down)? If that was the case it would have been better for them to become a king instead of a mage.
You think people live foully, but you yourself would not be able to live like that. You would not be able to live while accepting the fact that you know that everything is worthless and base. You would not be able to live without the pride of knowing that you alone are special, and that you alone can save this crumbling world. Of course, I was like that too. But that sort of thing has no meaning. --- Accept it, Araya. We chose the path of transcendence called magecraft because we are weaker than everybody else.
Magi were presented as absurd, as farcical, as maddeningly helpless and hopeless compared to those living normal lives. This will come up in Part 2, especially as pertains to Touko and Gordolf and the like, but normal everyday life, not superior thematic superpowers or an army of Servants, is what is truly far more powerful than any magi.
"... I'll just ask one thing. What do you mean when you say that secrets are kept even within that Association?"
Unexpectedly, I hear something from the sofa.
Over there is Shiki, who has been sitting there since before without a word. She's the type of person who doesn't get involved in a conversation that she's not interested in, so until now she had been staring at the scenery outside the window.
"--- There is that. A mage won't reveal the results of his experiments even within the Association. What the person next to them is researching, what their goals are, and what they have obtained are all a mystery. The only time a mage will reveal the results of their work is when they are passing it on to their descendants just before they die."
"Studying for their benefit alone, yet not using that power for their own sake? What purpose is there in a life like that, Touko? Is it that the goal is to learn, and the process is to learn too? If the only things you have are the beginning and the end, that's the same as having a zero."
Their pursuit for the truth is maddening. It is greedy yet at once devoid of greed. It is selfish yet at once devoid of selfishness. Their ethos and methodology are not fundamentally inhumane, but inhuman. Magi are an odd sort of creature indeed, and it isn’t the case that they’re all evil in their absurd quest. Indeed, virtually all early Nasuverse ancillary material, and this is still said today despite the opposite being true in practice, is that the vast majority of magi are shut ins who stay inside researching as opposed to eating babies.
The everyday life of a magus is mostly spent conducting research. Magi who use magic outside of a research capacity, such as those who use magi to work and profit for themselves, are few in number. People who treat magic as a tool, such as assassins, are called “spellcasters”, and are looked down upon with disdain by the magical establishment.
Furthermore, it is precisely because they are magi that few magi use magic in their daily lives.
Practically speaking, for every mage you see committing mass murder or fighting the mass murdering mage with superpowers, there are ten who we certainly can’t call conventionally moral, who we certainly can’t call normal humans, obsessively striving towards a seemingly impossible goal inhumanly but not inhumanely. Because Type-Moon does action series this has never been tenable to properly depict besides the minority, but it is the truth regardless. This is from a later work I actually have some measure of criticism for, but Strange Fake actually illustrates that point perfectly.
"A mage's mage," he muttered disgustedly to himself, eyes narrowed, "is no different from a hard-working corrupt politician." What about me? He wondered as soon as the words were out of his mouth. As long as corruption stayed hidden, it was difficult for the public to tell the difference between a corrupt politician and an honest one. In which case, mages, who never entered the public eye to begin with, probably ought to be lumped in with them. There were exceptions, but from the standpoint of the general public, mages were generally evil.
Other Nasu written works like Stay Night and Clock Tower 2015 also touch upon it.
Magic is just what it sounds like… magic. I don't care if you get ideas like abracadabra or whatever. You can just think of us as people who do strange things by casting spells. Oh, though it's not like we fly around on brooms or make stars appear with a wave of a wand. …Well, we could do that, but we don't bother as it's kind of meaningless. We're basically heretics who hide ourselves from the world. We're prohibited from standing out and even if we weren't, we would rather be at home studying magic.
Clock Tower 2015 especially hits it up by depicting what might be called the ideal magus, the point of being a magus that is often distorted by human concerns but that all of them are to some extent, not an inhumane monster but an inhuman man who has dedicated his life to magecraft.
"Ahhh, the life of a magus is so brief. It would have been great if I were born with just the brain and nothing else." Like what you just saw, Leiv was a pure academic magus. All his efforts were poured solely into his theory and magecraft. He cared naught of any other responsibilities, the application of his magecraft, his lineage, or building his faction. From Leiv's perspective, those magi were the same as the plebians that were "normal people". If one were to decipher the mystical, then he must sacrifice his humanity. A magus was a creature with nothing but magecraft on his mind. There was no room for burdens such as "life".
So to begin with, what we call magi are far from all arrogant murderous sods, and if anything arrogant murderous sods are the minority. They come in all manner of varieties, united simply by the pursuit of the impossible, by the desire to reach the truth, by the desire to transcend. Even more so than just that, they do have their values and ethics. They are often cruelly distorted, to the extent “magi parents” is a phrase that might as well be an oxymoron, but I would opine that as a product more of recent years than anything.
"Keep those for me. They are some awful cigarettes from Taiwan but I only have those now. Of course there isn't any company that made them, it's a famous item that some eccentric master made only one box of. Yeah, out of all my possessions that is the second most valuable thing I have." Leaving behind some strange words, she turned around and walked out. ... Perhaps her most valuable possession is herself, that kind of thought popped into my mind so I asked her, but she only turned back her head and answered. "That's rather rude. I know it's me but even I don't treat people like possessions." Like herself when she has her glasses on, she pouts as if she's sulking. And then, returning to her usual cool expression Touko-san continued talking. "Kokuto. Those people called mages, with an apprentice or other people they are close to they feel like parents. Since they are something like their offspring, they often fight desperately to protect them as well. ... Well, it's like that so relax and wait here. I'll bring Shiki back tonight." Thock thock, the sound of her walking away. Unable to say anything to her back, I let the brown-coated magician go.
That magi value their children, their apprentices, their legacies, even if only as a next step on the path to the Root, is also a truth echoed at the same time that it’s often contradicted. But then, magi are in of themselves contradictory creatures. After all, despite pursuing an inhuman ideal, despite throwing away their humanity, they themselves are still human. That contradiction between reality and ideals, best exemplified by Fate/Stay Night, is one of the themes at the heart of Nasu’s work.
So, to repeat it once more, magi as a whole, magi society as a whole, is not fundamentally inhumane but inhuman. That inhumanity often lends itself to the inhumane, but not necessarily, and indeed I opine that should be considered on a deeper level. That inhuman society is by no means a good thing, but to simply call it evil and magi evil and call it a day is to do a disservice to its nuance. There are arrogant murderous magi as well, sure, but they too are products of a tenacious ideal, they are the long shadow cast by lineages stretching for thousands of years.
In reality, what really forged the magus of the modern day was not a supernatural power or transcendent conscience, but a tenacity built and reinforced over generations. Clinging to a shadowed, intense ideology for hundreds, or in some cases even thousands of years, developed its own sort of extreme power. Even if science were to exceed magecraft in all other respects, as long as that ideal survived, magecraft itself would be ineradicable.
But what then of Souren Araya? What of that bastard Zouken and worst dad of the year Tokiomi and that arrogant asshole Kayneth? Rest well assured that I will cover them in exacting detail in the next part of whatever the hell this is, and everything I say about them will build upon this. That may seem contradictory, since this part is mostly devoted to showing that magi are far more than just evil sods, but believe it or not Kayneth is going to be mightily relevant to how pitifully weak magi in truth are, and Tokiomi is going to be relevant to how magi value their children in ways that don’t have to be inhumane, but can be inhuman. Until next time, all I can ask is to consider that while magi are indeed monsters, monsters really can be quite interesting creatures.
Things in this world were all like that.
It wasn’t limited to magecraft. It wasn’t limited to those beyond humans (monsters). In a world of common sense (the obvious), it was something everyone understood.
If you said that misunderstandings, miscommunications, disagreements, and false understandings are what connected them, then...
“We are misrecognition. Our world itself is misunderstanding. We can experience a multitude of truths, not just one single reality. No matter how wise you are, or how much time you are given, you will never reach something like a single truth. Magi may just be those who continually reject that fact.”
Speaking as if in self-deprecation, my master had pursed his lips at that.
He had finally realized that his words and the objective that all Magi pursued, known as the “Spiral of Origin,” were in contradiction.

by any other name. (lif x summoner)
a/n: the people asked for h*rny lif. the people will get h*rny lif !!! uhh very vanilla spice as always... lif cries -- mod touko
The palace at night is the only time that the place seemed still, most of the heroes having retired to their own private dorms. A few stragglers were left awake, most of them in the library reading as if to calm themselves down before turning in for the night. Lif was one of those few -- though he didn’t remain to read, but because he followed this routine every night, making sure those he held dearest wouldn’t be attacked late at night. Despite the relative safety of the Askran palace, he could never ditch the paranoia that seemed to haunt most of his waking thoughts. If he lost any of you again, he was sure he wouldn’t be able to live through that pain.
Part of the horrors of being undead was realizing he really didn’t need sleep. He could, but it wasn’t necessary for him to live. Sometimes he found himself sleeping just because there was nothing else to do, but mostly because the Summoner was so insistent on him getting rest. He found it mostly a blessing, however, because it allowed him to stay up and patrol the grounds. Besides, when he did sleep, he had horrible nightmares, though he would never burden anyone with that information.
Rounding past your room again, he’s tempted to peak in and see if you were actually awake. You had a tendency to stay up later than most, plotting out maps and reading books on battle strategy to better prepare the army for the days to come. It reminded him so much of his own Summoner, who he often had to carry back to their room after they would pass out asleep in one of the hallways. A sad smile grows on his face, but he doesn’t open the door, instead turning back around to do another once-over of the castle grounds.
A creaking of a door opening stops him in his tracks. “Lif? What are you doing out here?” He could never forget that voice.
“I’m on patrol,” he mutters, turning to face you. If he had a heart, he’s sure it’d flutter wildly in his chest at seeing you in your nightgown, eyes droopy and cheeks flushed from just having woken up. “Go back to bed.”
“Only if you do.” You cross your arms over your chest, “even if you don’t need sleep to live, it’ll still be good for you! C’mon.” You hold your hand out, waiting for him to stalk over and take it.
“No, I will go back to my room, if you insist.” Lif turns his head away from you, “it would be improper if--”. You roll your eyes, striding over to him and grabbing his hand, pulling on him lightly.
“I’m not going to force you but… you’re my S-Support, it’s okay if you rest in my room.” Lif lets you tug him along.
“I-I’m your what?”
“Don’t worry about it!”
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
The door shuts behind the two of you, Lif standing awkwardly to the side, not knowing what to do with himself. It’s not that he had never been in your room before, he had, but at night time there were much different implications.
“Sorry, it’s kind of messy,” he hadn’t even noticed, focused mainly on watching you, but now that he looks around he can see the books scattered around, notes you had taken messily sticking out of the pages. Lif holds back a laugh, this was too like his Summoner.
His Summoner… No, he needed to stop comparing you to them. It wasn’t fair to you or them, the you here was the person he loved, the person he would protect with his life.
You notice that he’s spacing out, so you pipe up: “You can rest with me if you’d like to, otherwise I can sleep on the floor… I do it most nights anyway.” You mutter the last part under your breath so Lif doesn’t hear. “What’ll it be?”
“I…” For once he isn’t certain. Sleeping in the same bed as you is no doubt what he wanted, your touch is something that he longs for. Your hand had brushed up against his chest once on accident and he hadn’t been able to get the feeling out of his head for days. He had been too much of a coward to ask for more, and you were accepting of his boundaries. “I would like to… rest with you.”
You look shocked, but the look quickly shifts to a happy smile, heart skipping a beat as he accepts your proposal. “R-right! Well first you should take off your coat and all that armor… I think I have some of Alfie’s spare clothes in here you can borrow…”. Lif shakes his head.
“You don’t want to see me like that,” his eyes narrow, “I’m a monster.”
“That’s not true at all, I don’t care what you look like.” You stand up to start rooting through your drawers, intent on finding the clothes Alfonse let you wear that one time, “Ah! Here you go, they might be a little small but… they should do.” Lif takes them into his hands, blinking down at them.
“I’m fine with sleeping in my armor.” He states simply, setting the clothes down on the dresser. He shrugs off his belt and leans his sword on the wall. His cape comes off next, it stopping its radiation once it leaves his body.
“Are you sure it’s comfortable? I mean, you’re still wearing your mask and boots. At least take those off.” Lif hesitates again, the thought of you seeing more of him concerned him. Surely you would think him frightening and run away.
...No that wasn’t right. You cared about him. Truly. But was that love enough to accept him despite how utterly horrifying he looked? Now was a time as ever to find out.
“Damn you,” he mutters under his breath, and you creep closer. “If you want to see the creature I have become, then so be it.” He leans down, allowing you to touch his mask. He finds himself leaning into your touch, despite not being able to feel your hands. He wondered if they would be as warm as he remembered.
Slowly, you pull it up and off his face, the blue steam it radiated increasing as you set it beside his cape. He looks at you, unblinking trying to desperately read your emotions. This time he doesn’t wait for you to say a word, instead pulling your hands up to his face so he could feel your touch against his skin.
“You’re beautiful, Lif,” you laugh, stroking his face tenderly. The bottom half of his face was made of the same clear blue jelly most of the rest of his body was made of. You wondered if he could feel you, but the way he closes his eyes and nuzzles into your hand you assume he could. It didn’t feel like normal human skin, instead it felt cold and squishy, but still very firm. It wasn’t cold in the way a human would be, more like you could feel the warmth leave your own hand and transfer into him. “I-I…”.
His eyes widen disbelief, and he stares you down as if searching for the truth in your eyes. Your eyes convey nothing but sincerity, and he finds himself unable to deal with the truth that he longs to voice to you day after day. He loves you.
Unable to hold himself back anymore, he pulls you in by the waist, lips pressing against your desperately, as if all the affection he’s held back for years is trying to be conveyed at once. It’s messy, you can tell he has no experience, but he still manages to be gentle, like some part of him is still holding something back. You quickly reciprocate, holding your hands on the side of his cheeks.
As quickly as the kiss starts, it ends once again, “I-I’m sorry,” he pushes himself off of you, “I shouldn’t have--”.
“It’s okay, Lif.” You grab his hand.
“But it’s not,” he counters, “you shouldn’t be with me, I’m a failure… I shouldn’t even be here. You… You belong with Alfonse.”
“You are Alfonse,” you frown, “Can I not love you both? We’ve talked about this before and--”.
“I let you die, [name].” His red eyes shine, holding back tears, “I don’t deserve this. I’m going to leave. Goodnight.”
“Do I not get a say in this?” You raise your voice, releasing him from his grasp. “Lif, do you think I would be with anyone that I thought was a failure? You can’t keep pushing yourself away from me, it’s only going to make things worse.” He lets you step closer to him, not backing up this time.
“You’re too kind for your own good,” he huffs, “you should hate me.”
“I’m not the one who died,” you grab his hand, putting it on your side. “I’m alive. So is Sharena. You’ve protected me countless times in battle, that should count for something.” Lif shakes his head. “The only thing that matters is that I love you. I don’t care about what you’ve done, I will love you no matter what.”
Lif can’t believe the words that leave your mouth. No one should treat him like this, and yet here you are, your hand stroking his cheek like he was a fragile object. He feels a sob rise in his throat, and closes his eyes. He didn’t think it was possible for him to cry, but he’s proven wrong when a tear rolls down his cheek.
You pull his face down into your neck, letting him cry into you. Your arms envelop his body, bringing him over to your bed where you could much easier reach him. He sits down beside you, pulling you into his lap where he could hold you, feel that you were real in his arms and not some hallucination his mind had dreamed up.
“You… you are much too good to me,” he sniffles, “I don’t think I’ll ever feel like I deserve you but… Perhaps I will allow myself to be selfish.”
“And I’ll be here to remind you everyday that you do deserve this.” You kiss his cheek sweetly, “that you deserve love.”
“You are foolish,” he chuckles, arms holding onto your hips, steadying you in place. He leans down to plant a sweeter kiss to your lips, you melting into him slowly. His lips are so cold you feel a shiver run down your spine.
He traces his hands down your back, as if unsure what to do next. Instead, he allows you to take the lead, you pushing yourself up against him, your chest is touching his own. You run your hands through his hair, marveling at how soft it was. It makes you giggle.
“What do you find so funny?” His cheeks seem to flush a light shade of blue.
“I didn’t expect your hair to be so soft,” you kiss him on the cheek once again, “you’ll have to let me wash it sometime.”
With a grumble from Lif, his lips are back on yours, passionate and open-mouthed, and you feel his tongue meet your own. The inside of his mouth is much colder than the outside, and it makes you shiver against him once again. His grip tightens on your waist.
“...Don’t do that again,” he says it as if a warning, voice low and breathy against your cheek.
“Why not?” You blink at him innocently.
“I don’t know if I can… control myself,” he whispers. “I don’t want to hurt you.”
“I’m tougher than I look, you know. I’m more worried if you can handle me!” Lif smiles a truly amused smile, locking his lips with yours once again. You were sure you looked thoroughly kissed by now, with swollen lips and lust-clouded eyes. You wanted him. “Can I…?” It’s a silent question, as you point at the armor on his neck.
“Leave it.” He gently moves you off his lap, letting you lie down on the bed. “You do not want to see the rest of me…”.
“Líf,” you coo, stroking his cheek, “I do, I won’t force you to show yourself to me but… no matter what you look like, I want you.” His eyes widen, an indiscernible emotion flickering through them. He nuzzles his nose against your cheek.
“Thank you,” he kisses your neck gently, “I...I don’t know what I’m doing, so… tell me what you want me to do.” His cheeks flush blue.
“I want you to touch me,” you link your hand with his. As if magic (and surely, it was), his clawed gauntlets retract, revealing his hands. For a moment, they seem to glow blue like his mask does, before the fog settles down and reveal that they look much like the rest of him — clear and blue. He’s gentle as he places them on your exposed legs, unsure of what to do.
“Your skin is so soft,” his raspy voice is gentle as he rubs his hands on your thighs. Every where he touches, goosebumps form, and you shiver once again. They were so cold, but not unpleasantly so. “And warm… I…” he is unable to finish his sentence. You lean up to kiss his cheek:
“You can touch me in other places, you know,” you pull your sheer nightgown over your head and off your body, leaving you in nothing but underwear and socks. Líf’s eyes widen, blue blush darkening as he looks over your body, committing it to memory. Many times had he imagined this moment, back in his Askr, and occasionally in his own room here. It always led him to feel insanely guilty, like he was defiling you somehow, but seeing you here? His dreams and fantasies pale in comparison. He could look at you like this for the rest of his life and be satisfied.
“More beautiful than I could have ever…” he kisses your lips hard, moving down to your throat. His hands move up to your sides, gently pulling you closer to his body.
“I love you, Líf,” his kisses grow more fervent, cold and sloppy as they trail down your sternum and to your chest. He squeezes your breasts lightly, wondering what he should do next. It was a bit overwhelming, he hadn’t touched human skin since… well, since he had been transformed by Hel. And never had he touched someone so intimately like this, it makes his unbeating heart flutter. It didn’t help that you had just admitted you loved him, he wanted to hear you say it again and again.
His lips meet your nipple, and he closes his eyes, sucking on it gently. You gasp, back arching a bit and Lif takes this as a sign to continue, his hand working at your other breast, always taking extra caution to be gentle. His eyes flicker up to you, momentarily stopping. He wanted to savor every look, every bit of praise that you would give him, but you seem to have other plans, tugging at his hair gently and moving his mouth over to your other breast. He moans against you as you tug his hair sharply, a soft gasp of his name leaving your lips.
You feel his hands wander lower, mouth still occupied by your chest. “Can I...?” His voice rumbles against your skin. You tug at his hair, making him look up at you so he can see you nodding. With the silent affirmation, he slips his fingers underneath. He hesitates for a moment, not really knowing what to do now that he was here. It would be far too embarrassing for him to ask, and so he figures he can find out by listening to you. With his free hand, he pulls your panties up and off of you, throwing them on the ground. You spread you legs, eyes hiding a coyness behind them and goddess above does he feel himself grow weak. By now, his erection was painful against his plated armor, but he suppresses his want. His only priority was pleasing you.
The moment his cold fingers meet your wetness, you bite your lip. It was like a sensation you had never felt before, but it felt good. His fingers explore you, trying to find where to touch to make you the most happy. When he brushes up against your clit, you whine out his name, and Lif’s eyes look at you hungrily. He needed to hear it again, so he rubs at it experimentally, your legs clamping around his arm.
“Lif, Lif...” You whine pathetically as he increases the speed of his thumb. It wasn’t enough for him, he wanted you to be louder. He feels how wet you were, all this just for him, and he slowly pushes a finger inside of you. Curiously, he moves it in and out, gauging your reactions the whole time. “D-don’t tease me, you can add another.” You tug at his hair again as if goading him on. He obeys, adding another finger and scissoring it inside you.
You’re loud as you call out his name, no doubt alerting your neighbors Anna and Sharena as to what is happening in your room. At this point, you’re far too gone to care, moans and praise leaving your lips in a long string of hazy babble. You feel heat start to build in your stomach, muscles tightening as his thumb rubs at your clit at the same time he works his fingers in and out of you. He picks up the pace, grinding himself against your thigh as you gasp out a loud mention of his name, head thrown back as your orgasm washes over you.
Your body feels numb, everything slowly coming back down as he continues to thrust his fingers lazily into you, you push his hand back, insistent on helping him reach his peak now. You wanted him inside you, wanted him to fill you up and call him yours.
“Lif, can you...?” Rolling him off of you, you tug at the armor just above his hips. “I want you inside me.” You straddle his lap, and Lif shakes his head.
“It’s alright,” he kisses you sweetly, “I can take care of myself.”
“But I want you,” you brush his long hair out of his face, “won’t you let me see you? Please?” Lif doesn’t know why he acted as if he could ever resist you. Once your words sink in, the armor from the waist down starts to disappear. You let out a gasp, from the looks of it, it seems that his whole body from his nose down was completely made out of the thick jello. Getting nervous under your gaze, he tilts you chin back up to look at him.
“Even now... do I not frighten you?” He whispers, “I am not even close to being human.”
“No, I still find you beautiful,” you smile, giving his dick a few strokes. Lif bites down on your shoulder to keep from gasping. He had never felt so alive.
Slowly, you sink down on him. Lif can already feel himself so close, your walls impossibly tight around him. He rasps out your name quietly, his hands finding their way to your hips.
You set a slow pace, his dick a bit thicker than you were used to. Alfonse was longer, but Lif was definitely thicker. Your nails dig into the armor on his back, it was too much too soon, the high of your previous orgasm still washing over you.
“Alfonse,” you cry out, and Lif’s eyes open to meet yours. For a moment, you think he’s mad at you, but when his hips start snapping up to meet yours, you know you’ve set something off in him.
“S-say it again,” he says through gritted teeth, trying to hold out for just a bit longer.
“Alfonse,” you say it louder this time, grinding your hips down against his. Lif cums with a shudder, holding your hips down so he could fill you up all the way. He wasn’t sure if he was even fertile, but even the thought of you being with his child was enough to make his head spin. He spends himself, and then gives another few weak thrusts, before pulling himself out of you, you both falling into the bed. Lif watches the way his clear blue cum spills out of you with a flush on his cheeks.
His summons his armor back everywhere except for his hands, as he still wanted to feel your soft skin.
“Thank you,” Lif is the first one to break the silence after a long moment of basking in the afterglow, your head resting against his chest. Maybe it was a good thing he didn’t feel like a normal human, his chest was firm but squishy, perfect for sleeping on. “I-I love you...”.
It’s then he realizes that you’ve fallen asleep already and lets out a chuckle. You were so impossibly cute that he couldn’t wake you. He places a kiss to your forehead before closing his eyes himself.
For the first night in a long, long time, he dreams a peaceful dream.

i feel like a tl;dr on some of my lore is needed because i essentially built it from the ground up, and the show only gives us like 10% and i had to fill everything else in and i also rewrote a lot . this will be temporary until i get my ass together to put it all up on a google doc. hopefully i got everything, but if i missed something i will go back and add to it as i remember
first some of the vocab from the show that i use that’s probably confusing:
zweilt’s / zweilt guardians : “god’s warriors.” a group of individuals who are continuously reincarnated and gifted with different supernatural powers that aid them in fighting demons and keeping the balance of the world in order
duras : the word for “demon”
niedertracht : lowest ranking demons, normally appear in the form of animal like beings , with red glowing eyes & black crystalline skin
mid-villain : mid ranking demon, as the name suggests. appear humanoid, but closely resemble sprites or fae. they do have the ability to gain more power and rank up to opast over time
opast : the most high ranking type of demon, just below the demon king himself. known to be deceptively and strikingly beautiful, usually spotted by their tell tale fangs, claw like nails, and slitted pupils
the demon king : their ruler of hell, the highest ranking and most powerful demon
infernus : their version of hell / the underworld. the home of the demon king & all demons
the black lake : a lake that takes up a vast majority of infernus. its waters are pitch black and deep, reflecting only the starlight above. it is said that any who try to journey through it have never returned
lore changes from the show that i personally made ( if you’ve never heard of the show or read anything about it, you probably don’t need to read this part )
luze does not exist. the idea of him is stupid im so sorry
the demon king is not “lucifer,” but an entirely separate entity named alcmena
the “bloody cross” is both a branding and a contract / blood pact made between luka and alcmena. this does not make luka his servent as the show suggests, but instead makes luka unwaveringly loyal : i.e. he cannot directly harm or usurp alcmena’s throne. he can still hold distasteful feelings, and downright hate him, but he cannot commit any acts to betray him. this contract also placed luka as the leader of alcmena’s demon army, and binds him to stay in that position eternally
the zweilt’s know luka’s real name. for the love of god i don’t know why he used the codename zess, that just doesn’t happen. what a weird idea
since the zweilt’s usually retain their memories with each reincarnation, that means they KNOW luka, and he’s close with at least some of them, specifically touko and tsukumo. they consider one another family
luka is the most powerful demon to exist to date
luka has jet black angel wings, we see them in the intro and then never again. he has them. they are hidden most of the time, only visible and tangible to others when he wills it
now luka’s backstory / lore in as short as i can get it
luka is the son of alcmena, the demon king, and an angel named mora crosszeria
from his very birth alcmena was wary of the power luka could possess. the combination of the most powerful demon in existence, and an actual angel was potent, having both divine and demonic blood in his veins
mora noted this, and became afraid of what alcmena would do if left with their son, and she ran away with luka to the mortal world, where she hoped to raise him on her own.
despite this alcmena still sent demons to watch luka as he began to grow, and after noticing severe power spikes that lead him to believe luka would grow to be more powerful than him, he had mora killed and brought luka back to infernus as a young child
alcmena treated him decently, not well, but not horrible. he never acted as a father, and often passed him off onto a demon named elya to care for him. elya, secretly an old friend of mora’s, tried her best to shelter luka from alcmena while raising him. alcmena mostly just wanted to keep tabs on his growing power, and other than that left him alone
once luka became an adult, alcmena banned elya from seeing him any longer, after gathering that she had spoken ill against him and told luka to follow in his mother’s footsteps. at this point alcmena was well aware that luka had become more powerful than him, and that if he so choose it he could very well usurp the throne. he was lucky, however, because luka himself was not aware of the full extext of his power
now an adult, luka began to speak out against alcmena and defy him, often starting fights wherein his untrained powers would explode and injure alcmena. to stop this, he forced luka into a contract of loyalty. luka did not yet known the full extent of how cruel alcmena was, and did not bother reading the contract. luka was then branded with two blood red x’s on his upper forearm, and the deal was sealed with blood.
luka was now unwaveringly loyal to alcmena, and would therefore be unable to cause him any physical harm, or to start any sort of uprising against him. along with this, to keep luka busy and exhausted, he put him in sole charge of the demon army. he was to watch after, train, and lead them into battle day in and day out without rest. it was only then luka began to see the full extent of his father’s cruelty. tricked into an eternal contract, and constantly battle torn and exhausted. and because he could not strike alcmena due to the contract, any form of speaking out against him or disobeying commands would result in punishment
eventually exhausted by this ordeal, luka takes his familiar and decides to try to look for the path out of infernus. he single handedly crosses the black lake, and finds a cave that leads to the mortal world
there, he meets yuki giou. a zweilt guardian, and someone he had seen briefly on battlefields fighting against his armies.
luka and yuki begin to sneak off together to meet, with luka traversing the deadly lake in infernus to see her. eventually luka tells her of the contract binding him to alcmena, and she offers him a deal. instead, he could make a contract with her. a contract bound by heaven, and the divine, would overrule anything alcmena had done. and because of the angelic blood in luka, this contract would be especially binding. in return he would swear to protect her, and to stay by her side. luka agrees. the contract with alcmena is broken, and he never returns to infernus again
luka remains bound to yuki and the other zweilt’s, fighting against other demons to protect them. he is known as a traitor, or betrayer to his kind
