Look not to be that person (lol who am I kidding, I'm always that person) but I find it vastly unfair that there are Americans reading chapter twenty-seven of Fourth Wing from Xaden's POV right now.
It's not my fault I was born on another continent (happy about it tho, very nice here) and the fact that some people think it's morally right for everyone else to wait four months to see it makes me very annoyed. You can bet your ass as soon as I see it somewhere I'm plastering that shit all over the internet. Regionalised bonuses are đ©

100% ITâS FORESIGHT
Like??? Imma let you finish but I gotta say this-
WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK THE DREAMS ARE XADENâS!!!! THIS IS A MUCH CLEARER EXPLANATION
Rebecca even implied that they werenât the same dream đđđ ok bye
Violetâs second signet and why I think some of these theories are wrong:
Seeing the deadâshe was drugged with that bullshit that blocked her bond with Tairn when she saw Liam. He was just a hallucination. Otherwise she wouldâve been wielding lightning and talking to dad
Magic mendingâ????? Someone explain this one to me like Iâm 5 all the theories Iâve read are too convoluted
Amplifierâsimilar to the above, maybe??? I personally donât think thereâs enough evidence to support this
Distance wieldingâI think this one is going to be Aaricâs actually thanks đ«¶đ»
Some form of intinnsicâtechnically possible I suppose but do we really think weâd get two of them?
Also. Guys. Letâs be honest. I love FW but nothing RY has written has been like genius levels of plot twists. Xadenâs second signet is obvious on like pg 10 of FW if you look. She put a massive emphasis on Violetâs dreams of the venin long before they ever faced them. And signets are supposed to be representative of the rider and who they are and what they need. All we fucking talked about in IF was how much Violet needed information to ground herself. Being able to see the future/foreshadow what is going to happen fits with that which is why this is what I believe and what I wrote in storm in the quiet. Thank you for coming to my ted talk đ©·

Coucou ! Merci d'avance ! :D
Chose violence ask game
Allez c'est parti đ„Violenceđ„ !
13) Pire blorboification !

Un maĂźtre mot : Ayons FOI, RĂSISTONS, PERSĂVĂRONS, ENDURONS ,AIMONS NOTRE PROCHAIN , ADORONS NOTRE DIEU VIVANT CAR IL A VAINCU LES TĂNĂBRES Ă LA CROIX, IL EST AU DESSUS DE TOUTE CRĂATION ! đđ„âïžâ€ïž
IL EST SUFFISANT ET CAPABLE !
Amen et Gloire Ă DIEU đ„

And since Iâm already complaining tonightâŠ
I gotta be honest, I'm kind of tired of the discourse surrounding what verbiage authors should and shouldn't use in smut scenes. I'm going to say folds. I'm sorry, but I'm yet to see anyone come up with a decent substitute that isn't "vulva" and this is not an anatomy textbook, ok? I'm also not going to say pussy if it's a soft, timid, first-time scene, because to me, it's about context and I don't feel like that fits the mood.
I'm also yet to see one person who complains about verbiage, give viable substitutes. There's only so many times you can say cock in a scene. I'm going to use length too, and if people don't like it, maybe we can all just "so Lorcan did" and they can fill in the blanks themselves.
Like, none of the people complaining are actually writers. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but disrespectfully, if your opinion is that you want to read "he inserted his penis into her damp vagina" you're in the wrong place, friend.
#there#that's my rant for the day#amy chose violence đ„#it wasn't any of my readers fyi just to be clear#you're all lovely; big fans of the folds#fuck booktok though; they can go

@heartfeltletters-written asked me đ„ How do you feel about criticism? and it felt like something that needed its own post, so here goes: the hypocrisy of critics in modern fandoms, an essay.
Criticism. I don't like getting it or giving it when it comes to writing. I struggle to even gently give it to friends, even when they ask me what I think of their work. Writing is such a personal thing that we pour our heart and soul into and like you say, many criticisms aren't necessarily valid. By that I mean, there's a difference between "Amy you use em dashes a lot babe" (I do) and "This story would have been so much better if Remi were a virgin" (actual criticism I have received, lmao).Â
Unlike traditional authors, we will never make money from this, we do it for the love of it and it's time we will never get back. For some of us, it's time we could be working on our own original manuscripts too. I don't think people who give the second type of criticism are writers, generally. They don't understand the craft and what goes into it. Whenever I post and someone says a chapter was short or they immediately ask when the next one is, and that's all they say, I die inside a little. I try not to take it personally, but it's hard.
Personally, I think fandom behaviour is getting worse and that flows over into our comment sections and tumblr asks. I have a whole other dissertation on this that weâll call âthe slow death of fandom as we know it: an essayâ, but thatâs perhaps for another post. I donât know how welcomed that commentary would be.Â
You said the word âentitledâ in your original ask and I think thatâs spot on. People have become more entitled in general and downright rude (which is not restricted to online spaces, by the way). I write for ACOTAR, but youâve never seen me discuss it here because no matter what you say in that regard, you canât win. Someone will always attack you and I do mean attack. Even in regards to Fourth Wing, I don't talk about my opinions a lot outside of my own little bubble of friends and readers.
And that's the kicker to this whole conversation, really. If I were to criticise Iron Flame/RY everyone would jump down my throat (as has happened on other platforms), even though I'd never say it to her face. Do I stand by my opinions? Absolutely. But it would be rude to tell her them, unless asked. Iâm not allowed to (validly) criticise certain elements of her story, a published novel, without being attacked for it, but those same people are fine criticising my work directly to me. Hypocrisy at its finest.
Thereâs a new influx of people to fandom spaces who are completely unwilling to integrate and completely unwilling to be kind. You mentioned those who criticised your work could have saved themselves the trouble and read the tags, but the thing is: they donât want to. They canât be bothered to take five seconds and figure out how they work, to curate their own experience, because thatâs what half these people are like. They want an algorithm to do it for them, gods help us.
For me, personally, I'm my biggest critic. I also have raging generalised anxiety, so just posting on the internet is enough to send me spiralling (seriously, I feel sick just typing this out). It's very, very out of my comfort zone and I've been very, very lucky so far to have cultivated the readership I have, full of very like-minded people. Perhaps due to some of the darker content matter. But the second I get harshly worded comments, I get upset.
I don't say that to elicit sympathy, it's just a fact. I get upset about it the same way I would if you were standing in front of me saying it to my face, and for someone with depression and anxiety, that lingers. I'm getting better at laughing at them, but it's like when someone tells you they don't like you and your mum says "just ignore them"ânot that easy, right?Â
So yeah, I don't mind if you want to tell me I use a lot of em dashes, or that I've used a word incorrectly in context, but I don't need to hear how much you hate original character fic when you could just use your last remaining braincell the back button and continue on with your day. Just be kind, is all I'm saying.

Out here again with another hot take on bonus content being regionalised and the way people seem to think morally we should all be above âpiracyâ.
Objectively, I think if youâre happy to have something and talk and gush about it in the fandom space while excluding everyone else, youâre a bad person. Sorry, but itâs giving you canât sit with us.
Unless yâall were going to keep the discussion to your group chats (and you sure as fuck arenât) get comfortable with the idea that billionaires arenât going to miss the couple of KU dollars theyâre not getting from the rest of us. If they donât like that, well circulation is, in fact, their problem đ
I promise the Hearsts and their 12 billion dollar yearly revenue (that is a B!!!) arenât crying over a few pics of a dragon romance novel article floating around the internet.
And to be quite frank, I donât think Rebecca would be losing any sleep over it either đ«Ą

I think what frustrates me more than anything in modern fandom, is the lack of reading comprehension skills people seem to have. Is it brain rot? Is it modern media? Is it the education system? I don't know but it feels like whenever I say something (mostly anywhere but tumblr) people literally ignore half of it and then tell me I'm wrong because *checks notes* well, it definitely does seem I'm wrong if you ignore half of what I fucking said đ€ŠđŒââïž
Like, me: 2+1+1=4
Them: No, itâs definitely three because thereâs a 2 and a 1!
Me: IâŠ? Did you see I saidâŠ.? Never mind đ
#like and people wonder why i seem negative when i talk about things??#it's so fucking frustrating#i am literally past the point of participating if delusion is the aim of the game#the slow death of fandom as we know it#amy chose violence đ„

bit of a personal question so no need to reply but im curious: when u first read fourth wing and read that the main characters has chronic illness like u, how did you feel?
Someone wants to open a can of worms today, I see.
I think it was hard for me because I bought into the hype and everyone was raving about how great the chronic illness rep was, and I didn't realise my idea of great rep and someone else's idea would be so different. For reference, though it shouldn't particularly matter, I don't have hEDS, but a bunch of other chronic illnesses including POTS, one of the co-morbidities Rebecca has, that Violet seems to have too.
At first I was excited, especially when Violet crossed the parapet and had a bit of a POTS episode on the other side. But as we got into the book it became a 'she didn't let it stop her' story and I was disappointed.
I love the book, but I had to put aside my own personal experience to do that and just get sucked in like any other book, which I was hoping to not have to do.
Basically, I went in expecting a book where the main character couldn't do all the things everyone else could, because she was chronically ill, and there was value in her anyway. Not a book where the main character has a chronic illness but it's conveniently not bad enough to stop her from doing all the things everyone else does.
The parts where accomodations were made for her did make me teary, but they were few and far between and the fact that she never once crashes throughout the whole thing is so unrealistic. Her biggest problem is probably the fact that her legs can't hold onto her big ass dragon and realistically that might have been a problem for most people so...ask Gleann's rider
People will say any rep is good rep and I'll hold back from expanding on my opinion of this rep except to say that I'm not ashamed I wanted more and I think people would have embraced more. And I'm tired of this fandom telling me I can't want that because they're chronically ill and this is what it's like for them. Lucky you.
I love this book. I love Violet. It's not a crime to admit that not all things in this series are perfect. If people have an open mind to other disabled readers' perspectives, this is a good read.

If you could 16 and 23 for the choose violence prompt đ
I was really worried when I saw that laughing emoji, now I'm just convinced you knew what you were doing. Please don't come for me đ
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterisation, trope, headcanon, etc)
The throne scene. đ
I'm SORRY, I just don't think it's as great as everyone makes it out to be. The smut is fine, hot even, but mid. (And for me it felt sort of out of place. Violet and Xaden do strike me as the type to be using sex as a crutch instead of talking about their feelings, so it makes sense in that way, but I really feel like the story would have benefited from a soft, tender moment there and Xaden using his words...and then the throne sex đ
23. ship you've unwillingly come around to
Liam/Cam
I didn't like Cam at all, to be honest. Couldn't understand one bit why people liked himâthen I read @justallihere's version of him in SITQ and I was sold. I can't even remember what was said after that, but it lead to me writing Liam/Cam, for which I have other scenes planned out already, and her writing đ„đ„ Liam/Vi/Cam and now I'm just...yeah. Cam.
Special mention also of @void-my-warranty, @starfall-spirit & @shipmistress9 without whom I would never have come around to throuples in the first place. I've always hated them, but there's something about X/V/L that just got me đ„č

ooh 2,3 for the violence ask game??
Iâm sort of just defaulting to FW as I normally do, but Iâm open to other fandoms too if specified đ€
2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom
Xaden Riorson has never and will never bottom for anyone, heâs too much of a control freak. Even when heâs the bottom heâs in charge. Violet makes him âlose controlâ in canon, but sheâs still never really in charge in the bedroom, heâs always a heartbeat away from having the upper hand. I said what I said. (Expect Remi to continue half-heartedly complaining about it)
3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
Tumblr as a community is more respectful than most in their use of tags, so I donât tend to see a lot of the shittier takes I donât agree with on here, or bashing of books and characters. I have however, continued to see Xaden spoken about as a âknockoff Rhysâ.
This is such a crap take in my opinion. The powers are similar, Iâll give you that. I even think some of that feedback might have shaped the retcon-*ahem* elaboration of his powers we got in IF (but thatâs a theory for another time). I do not buy however that he and Rhysand are alike in any way.
Their personalities beyond a base level are completely different, the way they behave is different. I think people just like to compare everything to SJM as though sheâs the godmother of fantasy romance. As someone whoâs closer to her age than most of you might be, I can assure you that a lot of the things people reference as being an âACOTAR knockoffâ existed long before her and as much as I love ACOTAR, it isnât high literature to be held on a pedestal above everything elseâpeople need to get real.

Violence game 8 and 22?
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
Ahaha there are so many hills I will die on, but since we don't have time for me to rant about Xaden's signet, I'll stick with this:
Tauri being the kingâs (and Camâs) surname. Grinds my gears. Give me something Rebecca! Everyone does it and I know a lot of people are doing it because we have no alternative name given yet, but I just canât see why that would be the case. IRL we refer to our monarchs by first name (King Charles, Queen Elizabeth) and presumably thatâs because the crown is passed through a family line. If we called them by surname it would just be King Windsor, Queen Windsor, King Windsor, King Windsor, etc and like? Who are you referring to?
So yeah, TLDR: we don't know Cam's surname.
Also, when RY comes to Australia in June, if I manage to get tickets you can be damn fucking sure I'm asking her about it đ
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
Hmm. I have two: a scene and a 'thing' because part could mean either. My favourite underrated scene is the saddle scene. As someone chronically ill, my heart hurt reading Violet protest any accomodations being made for her because she wanted to be just like everyone else.
But if I'm choosing Violence... đđ„
It's the redemption of Dain Aetos. I know he's fun to hate on, but fuck all of you if you try and tell me you wouldn't have done the same thing. If you were indoctrinated since birth to think certain people were 'bad' and your father, who you trust, said they were doing something underhanded and you needed proof, for sure you're going to do it, especially if it means saving your best friend and the woman you love.
His actions resulted in Liam's death and yeah, that fucking hurts, but his actions are understandable if you look at things from his point of view. As soon as he realised he was wrong and he had proof his father (who he's trusted his whole life!!) was a massive asshole, he switched sides, even though that meant he might not be safe where they were going.
He's a dick and often an idiot, but he's not some irredeemable villain. I also have a lot of feelings about the way people say he 'would never break a rule' because the man was willing to sneak Violet out of the Quadrant. Honestly his worst feature is that he doesn't listen to her enough. I could write a whole essay on how I feel about Dain to be honest.
#I actually can't believe no one's asked about him and remi yet tbh#shame on all of you#amy chose violence đ„

Like hi, hello, that cute little 10cm critter has enough venom to down over 20 adults in minutes and you wonât even feel it bite you, youâll just suddenly realise you canât breathe because your lungs are paralysed and thatâs that.
