Twin Peaks Extended Media
Whether it is for the lack of knowledge in mainstream Twin Peaks spaces regarding them or how some of these things are hard to get, the extended media of Twin Peaks but especially the books are constantly overlooked and ignored for various reasons.
I had done an (incomplete) index of it that blew up in my original account, and I had redone it (but as a more extensive guide that also included the order to watch the show). However, I changed my mind and decided to redo it, since the third time's a charm, right?
Most of these things include spoilers of the three seasons and the movie, so watch and read at your own risk.
AUDIOBOOKS AND COOPER'S TWIN PEAKS TAPES
The audiobooks consist of Laura's diary, the last two books narrated by cast members of the show, while Cooper's tapes were done by Kyle MacLachlan around the time the show was created, and (believe it or not) earned him a Grammy nomination for it.
Laura Palmer’s Diary (narrated by Sheryl Lee).
Diane: The Twin Peaks Tapes by Agent Cooper (narrated by Kyle MacLachlan).
The Secret History of Twin Peaks (narrated by Mark Frost, Len Cariou, Michael Horse, Mat Hostetler, Amy Shiels, Chris Mulkey, David Patrick Kelly, Robert Knepper, Kyle MacLachlan and James Morrison).
The Final Dossier (narrated by Annie Wersching).
BOOKS AND TEXT
Possibly the most overlooked section in Twin Peaks media. Mostly because some fanboys wrongfully think that because David Lynch didn't write them, it doesn't add to the story and canon, which is a wrong thing to say since these books were written by people involved in the show. Especifically, the writers wrote them and were given notes by Frost and Lynch.
The Secret History and The Final Dossier contain spoilers for the three seasons, so read them at your own discretion.
(*) Laura's diary and Cooper's autobiography are the only texts available in Glastonberry Grove. My recommendation is to copy the text and paste it on a google document, since the PDF has the pages ordered in a way you can later print it and build the book on your own.
The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer (written by Jennifer Lynch)*: Laura's diary is written on the day of her 12th birthday, and ends on February the 23rd, 1989. The book (like Cooper's) is very graphic since Laura has to constantly face BOB in her dreams and in real life, and struggles with how others perceive her as well as harm herself in order to avoid BOB hurting the ones she loves. It does not include the missing pages of her diary.

Glastonberry Grove PDF + Text
Twin Peaks: Access Guide to The Town (by Gregg Almquist, Tricia Brock, Robert Engels, Lise Friedman and Harley Peyton with David Lynch, Mark Frost and Richard Saul Wurman): It's the hardest book to get from the books that were released in the nineties. The Access Guide is somewhat of a predecessor of The Secret History, since it includes some of the origins of Twin Peaks. However, the Access Guide also includes newspaper articles, a donuts recipe, and more fun stuff!
Link of the PDF (It won't show a preview because of how heavy the document is, so simply download it)
The Autobiography of Special Agent Dale Cooper: My Life, My Tapes (written by Scott Frost)*: Cooper's autobiography starts in 1967 and ends on February the 24th, 1989. It featured short interviews from Cooper's friends and other people connected to him and transcripts from his tapes. Like Laura's, Cooper experiences tons of horrifying and sad things, from sexual abuse to murder so reader discretion is advised.

Glastonberry Grove PDF + Text
The Secret History of Twin Peaks (written by Mark Frost): A dossier of Garland Briggs that narrates the history of the town as well as the families that ahve stayed there, alongside relationships in the FBI, it includes letters, menus, classified FBI documents, drawings, fragments of books with notes done by Agent Tamara "Tammy" Preston.
Internet Archive link
The Final Dossier (written by Mark Frost): After the events of The Return, Gordon Cole assigns to Tammy the mission to interview people that were missing in The Return (Annie, Audrey, Donna, Harry, etc).
Internet Archive link
Star Pics Cards: A limited edition series of cards done by the writers of the show including the information of most of the characters, items and spaces featured on the first two seasons (With the exception of Denise Bryson).
Glastonberry Grove index
The Music of Twin Peaks introduction: A small text that came with the album "The Music of Twin Peaks", released in 1990.

Twin Peaks scripts: The scripts and transcripts for the first two seasons as well as other texts.

MISCELLANEOUS
Blue Velvet (dir. David Lynch, 1986): Some could say this is the predecessor of Twin Peaks, considering Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan), Sandy Williams (Laura Dern) and Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper) are considered prototypes for Cooper, Diane and BOB by Dern, Lynch and MacLachlan. Set in a 50s ambiented town in North Carolina in 1984, Blue Velvet is about a 21 year old college dropout named Jeffrey Beaumont who finds an ear on his way home after visiting his hospitalized father. The movie includes three, very graphic scenes, so watch it at your own risk.
Blue Velvet trailer
Internet Archive link
Mulholland Drive (dir. David Lynch, 2001): Originally going to be an Audrey Horne spin-off for TV, Mulholland Drive is considered to be one of the best films done in history and the best of David Lynch's filmography by many alongside Blue Velvet, Fire Walk With Me and Lost Highway. After Rita (Laura Harring) survives a car accident on Mulholland Drive but suffers mass amnesia, she meets a up-and-coming star Diane (Naomi Watts) who's deeply intrigued about Rita's past, and together, try to solve the mystery of her past.
Mulholland Drive Trailer
Wrapped in Plastic Magazine: Released for the first time in October of 1992, Wrapped in Plastic Magazine is the most recognizable out of the Twin Peaks related magazines that exist since the start of the show. The issues include essays, theories and even interviews to the stars as well as issues dedicated to other shows and movies like The X-Files!
MUSIC
Music is also one of the most important things in the show (and also one of the best things), as it sets the mood and the personality of each character without having to say anything.
In Glastonberry Grove, you can find the music notations of Angelo Badalamenti for Laura’s theme, the music from the intro (also known as the Falling instrumental), Into The Night, Falling, Dance of the Dream Man, Audrey’s Dance and more.
Floating Into The Night (All of the songs but Mysteries of Love, I Float Alone, The Swan, Floating and I Remember are featured in the show) by Julee Cruise.
The first season Soundtrack by Angelo Badalamenti
The second season Soundtrack by Angelo Badalamenti (including unreleased tracks!).
The Double R Jukebox playlist I made taken from the Access Guide! It features most of the songs but since some of them aren’t on Spotify, you can also find it here.
The Fire Walk With Me Soundtrack by Angelo Badalamenti, Julee Cruise and David Lynch.
The Return Soundtrack that features bands like Chromatics to singers like Rebekah del Rio and Eddie Vedder, as well as Julee Cruise and Angelo Badalamenti, of course.
PHOTOS, BEHIND THE SCENES AND DELETED SCENES
A Slice of Lynch: David Lynch interviews Kyle Maclachlan, Mädchen Amick and post-production supervisor John Wentworth to discuss about Twin Peaks.
A Talk with Kyle MacLachlan and Sheryl Lee: A preview of an interview Kyle and Sheryl did for the Twin Peaks: From Z to A boxset where they talk about Laura and Cooper.
COOP Visits the set of Twin Peaks: David Lynch, Frank Silva (BOB) and more thank the members of C.O.O.P. for helping save "Twin Peaks" after its close cancellation in 1991.
David Lynch interviews the Palmer family: What it says on the title! Lynch interviews Laura, Leland and Sarah 25 years after Laura's murder. This was done as a way to promote The Missing Pieces DVD, which are the scenes that were cut from Fire Walk With Me.
Fire Walk With Me (+deleted scenes, aka "The Missing Pieces"): The extended version of Fire Walk With Me that features the deleted scenes, considered by many the definitive cut of FWWM.
Fire Walk With Me discussed by David Lynch, Kyle MacLachlan and Sheryl Lee: An interview they did in 2003 where they talk about FWWM.
Georgia Coffee commercials: The Georgia Coffee commercials were a series of ads directed by David Lynch for a Japan only Coca-Cola line of canned coffee featuring Cooper and the police station trying to help a mysterious man named Ken, whose girlfriend is stuck in the Black Lodge.
Invitation to Love: In the show, Lucy, Nadine and other characters are obsessed with an exaggerated soap opera named “Invitation to Love”. You can see the whole show (16 minutes) here! The band Her’s named their album “Invitation To Her’s” after this parody.
Kyle MacLachlan Twin Peaks SNL parody: The Twin Peaks parody Kyle MacLachlan did in the episode he hosted of Saturday Night Live in late 1990.
Making Bets: A deleted scene featuring Cooper and Harry set around season two where they make bets on the Seahawks game.
Meet the Makers: A series of interviews with the writers and crew of Twin Peaks.
Mauve Zone: A photo archive featuring promo photos, Richard Beymer's polaroids, polaroids of the actors on the costume tests, behind the scenes footage of the three seasons and the movie, as well as outtakes, spoofs and deleted scenes.
Scenes Deleted: A YouTube channel who uploaded most of the deleted scenes of the first two seasons.
Twin Peaks: The Return behind the scenes: These were short films filmed by Richard Beymer during the production of the return. Most of them are featured in the DVDs of the complete series, but you can find the following on YouTube:
David Lynch as Gordon Cole
I Had Bad Milk in Dehradun
The Man With the Gray Elevated Hair
The Woodsman

Listening to two season 5 era Nygmobblepot playlists I put together that, while very catchy and grounded in a love story I hold dear, are far from joyful. Particularly Ed's which is post-5x11, where he knows he has BIG feelings, but feels clotheslined by his actions in season 3. "That" is not something he can ask for from Oswald, so he's settling for staying in his orbit and keeping the knives out of his back.
Tumblr media
i'm getting sentimental over you (tommy dorsey and his orchestra)
you don't know what love is (chet baker)
rehab (amy winehouse)
april fools (rufus wainwright)
don't say nothing bad about my baby (the cookies)
(what can i say) after i say i'm sorry (dinah shore)
telephone (electric light orchestra)
to love somebody (janis joplin)
am i blue (billie holiday)
last dance (donna summer)
they didn't believe me (dinah shore)
i'll call you mine (the zombies)
everything happens to me (chet baker)
i'm not okay (i promise) (robyn adele anderson)
just a gigolo (louis prima)
show me the way to go home (irving king)
keep yourself alive (queen)
the way you say goodnight (magnetic fields)
[x]
And Oswald’s bridges the end of season 4, when he finds Ed’s dead body and goes through the standard Penguin ‘stages of grief’ in early season 5: try to stop feeling and make the world eat shit. All of which lands him squarely in the middle of the Haven crisis and, shortly after, Pena Dura: staggered by senseless death and how much Ed still doesn’t understand.
Tumblr media
suffragette city (david bowie)
gatsu (guts' theme) (scooby)
glory and gore (lorde)
last nite (the strokes)
new town (the vitamins)
habanera from carmen (georges bizet)
real men (joe jackson)
house without windows (roy orbison)
stay with me (lorraine ellison)
faust (paul williams)
nightclubbing (david bowie)
have mercy on the criminal (elton john)
the way i do (bishop briggs)
stop the world and let me off (patsy cline)
don't look back in anger (scott bradlee's postmodern jukebox feat. maiya sykes)
sally go round the roses (the jaynettes)
i would die 4 u (prince)
prince charming (adam ant)
[x]
Because. As much as I love a renewed accord awakening new passion... I need them both to do a melancholy conga line of raw suffering until someone forces them to talk it out at knifepoint.

Excerpts from Lee's recent interview in South China Morning Post
For Frozen 2, Buck and she had asked themselves one question: how does Elsa have her special powers? “And we were like, ‘Oh no! There’s more story!’
“We knew we were hooked immediately.” In other words, they couldn’t let it go.
“That’s exactly it. I remember spending time literally doing personality tests on Elsa and Anna again.”
Character analysis is one of her obsessions; she has subjected both sisters to Myers-Briggs assessments and amuses herself imagining them tackling unlikely tasks.
Tumblr media
It was during preparation work on Frozen 2 that Lee realised Anna was struggling, for the first time in her life, with fear. “She’s nervous because she has everything to lose,” she explains.
“In the first movie, she has everything to gain. But now, she has everything she’s always wanted and she feels the fragility of it.”
There’s certainly a darker flavour to Frozen 2, and “Into the Unknown”, in this viewer’s opinion, is even more of a blood-stirring Elsa clarion call than “Let It Go”.
And Olaf, the daffy snowman, is having an existential crisis. “Do you ever worry about the notion that nothing is permanent,” he asks. Loss is in the air, and there are some finely judged moments of grieving for parents and friends.
Tumblr media
Lee, however, is now making Frozen 3, about which – she gives a knowing nod to communications Amy – she’s not allowed to say anything.
About four hours after this interview, Bob Iger, speaking live from Hong Kong, will tell Good Morning America that there “might be a Frozen 4 in the works” and that Lee’s working on two stories simultaneously.
Social media, of course, is already on the case; an avalanche of opinion that Elsa should be gay is gaining force. “That’s dangerous storytelling,” Lee says. “I hear it occasionally in the studio: ‘I don’t want a character who …’ But it’s not what you want, it’s ‘Who is this character? What does she need?’ It’s hard because you never know what the landscape is like on social media. You can only know what it’s like in that story room.”
Tumblr media
The landscape she’s most enjoying at the moment, however, is Arendelle. “It’s an escape, it’s joyous – I’ll live here!”
“I look at all the stories in the films, and they can’t do the work for you – none of them can – but they’re all little lights in the dark.”

Welcome to my OC Blog
Hello Poppies! I'm IronRye. I make Original Characters, Fan Characters, a sona here and there. This is my art blog! Exclusive place for some of my most proud art pieces, links to my fanfictions, and even a roleplay blog. Basically it's an oc centered blog because I make a lot of ocs!
Tumblr media
My current hyper fixations are constantly bouncing back and forth depending on what draws my attention.
Main Blog: @popironrye
Open to any and all questions. Can be general questions for me in general as well, not just about these characters. No ask is off the table. 😉

✨Come with me, and you'll be
In a world of pure self-indulgence.✨
I have a large extensive list of original characters and fancharacters.
Over 70 characters. Over 30 OCxCanon ships. 9 OCxOC ships. 7 self-insert Sonas at the time of posting.
I thought it'd be cool to lay out a list of sorts for my tumblr page as I'd like to continue posting other media related fandom stuff on here as my other socials are pretty quiet and the idea of running a different blog for every fandom I've ever been in and ever will be in sounds dreadful.
Starting with a visual! My collection of personas, this list is gonna be long and my sonas are the only ones that come with art, but I hope you find some enjoyment out of this.
To start with, I have a handful of self inserts!
Emma, Eva, Erin, Rye, Eden, Elaine, and Eileen.

LÉGENDES DU JAZZ
GIL EVANS, L’ARRANGEUR DE GÉNIE
"Gil was not a composer in the usual sense of the word. He was not a piano player in the usual sense, either. In fact, Gil was not your usual kind of man. He was a poet all the way from morning till night."
- Lee Konitz
Il expliquait: "I will never get over it! I wasn't even into music then. I was just buying records and going to high school."
Il précisait: "By about 1941 I began to realize that I wasn't really technically equipped to handle that kind of work. It took too much to do it. Besides the producer of the show was always calling me the poor man's Stravinksy... because he could never figure out what key we were playing in."
Décrivant sa collaboration avec Thornhill, Evans avait commenté: "It was a conservatory band in a way. The pitch was perfect, the blend was just built in. At the time I needed a workshop to hone my craft. I had never written for French horns, for example, Thornhill had two, and later three, flutes in addition to the saxophones we already had." Dans une autre entrevue, Evans avait ajouté:
"There was a French horn lead, one and sometimes two French horns playing in unison or a duet depending on the character of the melody. The clarinets doubled the melody, also playing lead. Below were two altos, a tenor, and a baritone, or two altos and two tenors. The bottom was normally a double on the melody by the baritone or tenor. The reed section sometimes went very low with the saxes being forced to play in subtone and very soft."
Evans expliquait: "He leaned on me, and he didn't want to. I let him because I wanted the experience. He liked modern jazz, but it wasn't what he wanted to play." Interrogé dans le cadre de l’ouvrage Jazz Masters of the Forties d’Ira Gitler, Konitz avait commenté: "It was a beautiful band. Gil Evans wrote the better arrangements in the book, and it was a good group of musicians. Gil tried to teach them ... how to play bebop. He was bringing in Bird's lines and teaching these cats--and a lot of them were older--how to inflect the lines."
Comme Davis l’avait déclaré dans son autobiographie publiée en 1989: "During this time I was going over to Gil Evans's a lot, listening to what he was saying about the music. Gil and I hit it off right away. I could relate to his musical ideas and he could relate to mine. With Gil, the question of race never entered; it was always about music."
Comme Pete Welding l’écrivait dans les notes de pochette de l’album: "Let's reaffirm something here: catchy as the album title notwithstanding, the music of the Miles Davis Nonet was, is anything but cool... Among these twelve performances is to be found some of the most arresting, resourceful, richly textured and abidingly creative small-ensemble writing in all of jazz history."
I, "The new project was far removed from the youthful experiments conceived in the grimy 55th Street basement. It involved a nineteen-piece orchestra, and it was backed by the corporate weight of Columbia Records."
Davis avait enregistré trois albums avec Evans: Miles Ahead (1957), Porgy and Bess (1958) et Sketches of Spain (1960). As usual, I loved working with Gil because he was so meticulous and creative, and I trusted his musical arrangements completely."
I had a great time with Gil Evans on Guitar Forms. I selected the tunes... the only input I had with the arrangements was our discussion of some of the harmonies--not necessarily how we would voice them but just what changes we would use at certain points. I made suggestions; he was always open to suggestions. He was incredible as an orchestrator and a harmonizer."
[and] a bright spirit."
La même année, Evans avait également rendu hommage à Hendrix dans le cadre de l’album There Comes a Time: The Music of Jimi Hendrix.
Commentant sa collaboration avec Evans, Konitz avait écrit dans les notes de pochette de l’album: "Gil was not a composer in the usual sense of the word. He was not a piano player in the usual sense, either. In fact, Gil was not your usual kind of man. He was a poet all the way from morning till night."
How About You" in Centennial - Newly Discovered Works of Gil Evans. Evans a également été mis en nomination pour plusieurs autres prix Grammy, y compris pour les albums Out of the Cool (1961), Miles Davis at Carnegie Hall (1962), The Individualism of Gil Evans (1964), Quiet Nights (avec Miles Davis en 1964), Guitar Forms (avec Kenny Burrell en 1965), Svengali (1973), Priestess (1983) et "Look to the Rainbow" in Centennial - Newly Discovered Works of Gil Evans (2012).

🚑✨Weekly Tag Wednesday🪄💫
Look at me pals. Getting this out on wednesday? You'd think I had my life together or something. Get in bitch, we're going on a mystical adventure through space, time, and reality. (in ian and mickey's ambulance of course) ✨
Name: c h a n i
Zodiac Sign: capricorn.
Personality type in enneagram, myers-briggs, or both: 4w2, and INFP
Before we hit the road, what snack are you gonna bring for our trip? Bubble tea and juicy crispy apples
Navigator gets to pick the music so what song are you turning on? Rather Be by Clean Bandit.
💥 What is a universe from a fantasy tv show you would like to visit? Does Outlander count? Can I just visit 1700s Scotland?
And what about a fantasy movie? Lord of the Rings. Specifically I'd love to visit Gondor (ride some horses with the rohirim), Rivendell and pick up some elf clothes, and relax and smoke longbottom leaf for a few months.
Okay, how about a scifi tv show? Doctor Who. But specifically somewhere fun and alienly beautiful with Eleven and Amy.
And a scifi movie universe? Serenity. I'd love to journey through space with a rag tag crew.
Any other tv show or movie universes you'd like to swing by before we move on? Can I pop in and wander around Narnia for a bit?
Okay hold on to your butts we're switching gears to fanfic universes. Tell me which fanfic universe we're visiting first? Oh gosh. My fave fics are all angsty ian and mickey dramas. Okay how about the All the Young Dudes common room. (iykyk)
Cool, do you have one more you'd like to stop at before we head home? Faffy to check out Mickey's art show. CG to watch MICKMILK youtube videos (great idea deanna)
Alright, on our way out of fanfic land you get to snag some tropes to bring home and apply to your own life, think fast! soulmates or enemies to lovers // coffee shop or flower shop // fake relationship or slow burn // amnesia or time loop // body swap or miscommunication // love triangle or arranged marriage // sharing a bed or drunken confession
Wow okay, hope those tropes work out for you!! Our adventure has finally come to an end, where in the world am I dropping you off? Can I visit Scotland now?
Thank you @deedala for putting together this whole shebang! She also tagged just about everyone under the sun. But if you were hiding in the shadows please take this as a sign to do this and then tag me so i can see!!
