Every time you enter the ocean you are having a wildlife experience ranging some small to great white shark. May it always be like that. . #worldoceansday #greatwhiteshark #savetheocean #oceanconservation #conservation #savetheplanet #shark #sharkconservation #ilovesharks #sharklover #uwphotography #underwaterphotography #naturephotography #naturelovers #wildlifephotography #mexico #guadalupeisland #wildlifetourism #adventure #ampullaeoflorenzini #jaws (at Guadalupe Island) https://www.instagram.com/p/Byc1Q20hxZo/?igshid=1on88u14jaqqp

White Shark Blueprint Part 2 (watch in full at whitesharkvideo.com/blueprint) The blueprint effect allows us to see some details of the white shark that are often overlooked. 1. Not only is the eye an orb that extends slightly beyond the socket holding it, but is complex, consisting of a cornea, iris, and pupil (not like a doll's eye). We can see the direction the shark is looking by observing the outline of the iris and where it is situated in relation to the cornea. 2. The ampullae of Lorenzini can be found in multiple locations along the face. These are not the sensory organs themselves but rather pores that lead to the "wonder nets" inside the shark, which detect minute electrical fields. 3. The multiple rows of teeth are shown in various states of rotation. One row is very far forward and ready to fall out, only to be replaced by the row waiting closely behind. Other rows are still folded back, not rotated far enough forward to be seen yet. #shark #whiteshark #sharkskin #sharklight #whiteshark #greatwhiteshark #guadalupe #wsv #ampullaeoflorenzini #skylerthomas #whitesharkvideo #sharkeye #sharkorb #gopro #sharkteeth #sharkanatomy #anatomy https://www.instagram.com/p/BpUr7wTlH9r/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=rx5mxhwtdmr7

Etzels live in the crystal clear waters of Metonia. They love to jump and use their tentacles to float back down. They also like to shake their tentacles like a hula skirt for the enjoyment of all the kurkles. Using ampullae of lorenzini located inside their cone-shaped noggins for electroreception, they are able to detect buried prey..... The salt carries the currents, To my sensors for feasts. Unbiased field testing #sharkrepellant for the local swim club. Many of these repellants are designed on the known physiological sensory systems sharks have, the Ampullae of Lorenzini, which in addition the the magnetic sensing capabilities of the Lateral line, allows sharks to detect minute electrical currents which they use to aid them in distinguishing injured, sick, or dying animals from healthy strong ones. Sharks are the white blood cells of the ocean and by picking off the weak or injured they leave the strongest and fittest to survive ensuring healthier and stronger individuals are left to reproduce #darwinstheory #galapagos . It may also aid in their ability to do long migrations, some transoceanic returning to the same point several years later. What many of these devices have failed to consider is that for most species this incredible sensory organ only works within 6 feet *for most, but not all species & also depends on the intensity of the electrical or magnetic output of the device, the water temperature (which effects the efficiency of the gel that conducts the electricity in the pores around their nose (or snout.) Sharks are complex animals who have been evolving for over 400 million years, they factor in more than one factor before taking action. Other things that affect the efficiency of these devices are the particular shark species, water clarity, & situational circumstances like the activity the person is involved in whether it involves fish, splashing, etc. We would love to recommend a device to help minimize adverse interactions because although they are EXTREMELY rare, and generally there is some sort of human influence in those incidents, it doesn't help the sharks reputation regardless of the situation even when humans are 100% to blame. We would love to test any company's device that is interested in sending it over for a week for free field test. I wouldn't endorse anything that doesn't work so if it works I would be happy to share that but thus far as requested by the local swim clubs I have yet to find a device that actually works. #sharksareincredible #sharkresearch #ampullaeoflorenzini ITS THEIR OCEAN @oceanicramsey rp

Just for fun - Applying a blueprint effect on some footage shot by Andy Dellios a few years ago while we were in Guadalupe. This effect allows further appreciation for a few features of the white shark: 1. The ampullae of Lorenzini can be clearly seen as dots around the snout. 2. The outline allows one to see that the white shark's eye is a detailed, three-dimensional orb that extends slightly beyond the skull, rather than being a sunken black hole like many believe it to be. 3. The multiple rows of teeth and the perfect triangular shape of the teeth are highlighted. 4. And of course, the fantastic manner that the sun plays on the sharks' skin. I can never get tired of that. ________________ A longer version can be found on my Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/whitesharkvideo ________________ #shark #whiteshark #sharkskin #sharklight #whiteshark #greatwhiteshark #guadalupe #wsv #ampullaeoflorenzini #skylerthomas #whitesharkvideo #sharkeye #sharkorb #gopro #sharkteeth #sharkanatomy (at Isla Guadalupe) https://www.instagram.com/p/BpShaHVl9go/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1xm17baxnynl

The great white shark is known to lift its head up above the surface to more accurately view its surroundings, and more importantly to find prey. Although that is not what's happening in this image, it is a close representation of the behavior. Photo credit @awrightimg Help make a difference for these endangered animals!
