TASK 04: home sweet home

Show us where your character rests their head at night -- whether they consider it a house or a home. Pictures will likely be the best way to complete this challenge -- whether in the form of a pinterest board or a moodboard -- but you can also describe it with words if you’re more inclined. If your character is currently living with another taken character, make sure to discuss this task with them.

It’s been awhile since our last task so a reminder: all tasks are completely optional and can be done at any time. Feel free to go back and check out old tasks too if you’ve joined since our last one! And make sure to drop a link to your completed task in the appropriate discord channel so it doesn’t get lost in the tags.

Artemis and her pack live in an underground den hidden and tucked away in Epping Forest, Greater London. There’s a mixture of natural living and embracing the wolf and human comfort, with a great deal of magic having been used to create the den. They have also planted, grown and cultivated a decent vegetable patch nearby. Most of their food they eat raw, though there is a fire pit that they use to barbecue meat when it wanders their way. They sleep communally, on thin mattresses and blankets on the floor.

Though Draco stayed at home while Lucius and Narcissa went to the party, they did dress him up beforehand to take some family photos in a miniature version of Lucius’s own suit. Soon after the last flash faded, Draco reached from where he was positioned in his father’s arms and grabbed hold of a small cake that was sitting out on refreshment table that had gone untouched by either Lucius or Narcissa. Draco then proceeded to take a bite as buttercream icing fell and smeared all over his suit jacket and Lucius’s arm. Thankfully the house elves knew just the charm to clean them both up in time for Lucius and Narcissa to make it to the ball.

TASK 04: home sweet home

Mundungus jean ralphio voice technically homeless (x), but most definitely by choice. He has no interest in setting down any roots, find the entire idea of it rather scary if he’s honest. He’s never been good at commitment, after all. His lifestyle is rather nomadic, in all truth: he’ll spend a few months with some squatter’s in London or another city (upper right and lower left) before moving on to the next place, or sleeps on a different couch (lower right) every night. He also is still welcome at his mum’s place in Limerick (upper left), where he has a proper bed and a dog to pet. He feels rather shit about himself when he goes there, though, so tries not to do so too often. Since joining the Order, he can also be found napping at headquarters, something I’m sure a few people don’t approve of. He also takes regular naps at the Leaky Cauldron or another bar in wizarding London. Mundungus may not have a home, but he has plenty of places to lay his head to rest, let that be known. And he likes it that way. It allows him to scarcely exist, to move like a shadow, to be unknowable to any enemies that might want to find him.

...is located on the outskirts of Castle Combe in Wiltshire, England. Melaina has lived there since birth with her father, previously also occupied by her mother and later her step-mother and now Theodore as well. It has been home for so long that it really is the only place she can call home but more recently she has only stayed because it is the only way to be with Theodore rather than truly because she wants to be there (although the fact that she is much too used to the space and expensive furnishing to give it up for something more practical and manageable without three house elves does factor into that)

TOM RIDDLE

- Boss of Jonas Travers. Dark Lord.

Voldemort found Jonas Travers after hearing of the boy’s own ideas of cleansing the wizarding community. Initially, Travers was unimpressed with the Dark Lord. The whispers about the great wizard did little to entice his interest, especially because of his alias. Voldemort. To Travers, a name is everything. He prefers his own last name because he feels it respects the efforts of his ancestors. Voldemort’s alias is a personal affront to this belief. However, after meeting him in person, he offered his undying loyalty to the Dark Lord. His lifelong admiration of Grindelwald transferred to Voldemort, whose goals matched his own.

Caramelo ‘Melo’ Bello

Rosa adopted him a few months before she moved to England and brought him along with her. He’s name for the colour of his fur - kinda caramel coloured - although she generally calls him Melo more than anything else. Very friendly and with how easily he’d fitted into her life she’s been considering adopting another.

Rasul has been with Emmeline since the summer before her second year at Hogwarts while she got Babur as a present to herself for getting into the Department of Mysteries immediately after graduation.

ceres ---

by now, ceres is far from his only horse, but she was his first. a graduation gift from his parents, she always represented the life jean-luc preferred. as if he wouldn’t have anyways, once he had ceres, he spent as much time as he could manage at the ranch in the countryside, both loving the endless green acres. his stables grew quickly, because jean-luc had never been great at saying no, but throughout it all ceres retained her status as his favorite.

really, jean-luc isn’t entirely sure where the dogs all came from. napoleon was adopted from a breeder in marseille, and from there things just spiraled. hugo was a gift from his siblings, who were worried napoleon was going to get lonely (as if the horses weren’t plenty of company), and éclair - well, he saw the puppy at some muggle adoption event in paris, and next thing he knew he was returning to the ranch with yet another dog. unsurprisingly, he dotes on all of them, all three pups spoiled completely rotten. while he feels a bit guilty taking them from the open space in his countryside ranch to the comparatively cramped space of his townhouse in london, they usually come with him anyway. as such, he’s become a regular at the local dog park.

𝐢. ALEXANDERMCKINNON

The patriarch of the McKinnon family. Marley was always a daddy’s girl, so when he just up and left one day without a word, she was heartbroken. Little did she know, he wasn’t just leaving to leave. He left to become a death eater... a fact that her mother and older brothers all kept from her. Imagine her surprise when her dad came into the Three Broomsticks when she was working the bar, and tried to lure her to the dark side. She punched him in the face before quitting the job and apologizing to Rosmerta... then grabbed two bottles of firewhisky from behind the bar and finished them alone on the roof of her apartment.

𝐢𝐢. MARTHAMCKINNON (nee. CARSTAIRS)

Raising five kids alone is no easy task, but Martha managed. As a healer at St. Mungos she worked a lot, but always made sure dinner was on the table. She knew Alexander’s intentions, and they had a big fight on the night he left. She refuses to take sides in the war, but would lean toward the Order with her children if she was more involved. She worries about her children, and would do anything to protect them if it came down to it. Marlene was never as close to her mom as she was to her dad, and that didn’t change when Alexander left. Their mother-daughter relationship is strained, but she’s still Marley’s mum.

𝐢𝐢𝐢. MILESMCKINNON

As the oldest McKinnon, Miles was the first to go to Hogwarts, and like his father he was sorted into Slytherin. Martha jokingly blames Miles for all of her kids’ love of Quidditch, as he was the first to play, as a Chaser. Miles was also the first to unofficially join the Order, straight out of Hogwarts. Miles works at the Ministry in the Department of Games and Sports. Miles is the one who taught Marley how to play Quidditch, and he always teased his sister about Slytherin being the superior team but he was just proud that, like him, she decided to play... and she was a damn good Chaser too. He’s been married for a decade, and has two kids. Marlene is no good with kids, but she makes it a point to always be the Cool Aunt.

𝐢𝐯. MORGANMCKINNON

Like his mother, Morgan was sorted into Ravenclaw. He played Quidditch, because it was practically a right of passage for the McKinnon kids, but was a medicore Keeper at best because his heart wasn’t in it. He was a prefect, and head boy during his time at Hogwarts, and used Quidditch as way to woo the ladies. He was quite the heartbreaker during his time at Hogwarts. Morgan’s first job was at the Three Broomsticks, and he helped Marley get the job when she got out of Hogwarts. Now he works at the Daily Prophet as a writer, and moonlights as a member of the Order with his brothers and sister.

𝐯. MATTHEWMCKINNON

Matthew didn’t follow in either of his parents’ footsteps. He was sorted into Hufflepuff, and was Seeker and captain of the Quidditch team. Herbology was his favorite class, and after his time at Hogwarts he returned to teach at the school. He’s not an official member of the Order but he does know that his siblings are, and he works with them when his services are needed... but little do they know, (SPOILER ALERT!) Matty has always maintained a relationship with his father. When he was at Hogwarts, they communicated via owls and after Hogwarts they started meeting up once a month in dark alleys. He looks up to his father a lot, and Alexander was able to convince him to get the dark mark. It only recently happened, but he’s committed to the fight as long as he can keep his siblings safe.

𝐯𝐢 . MAXIMILIANMCKINNON

Maximilian wasn’t sorted into any house, and he didn’t play Quidditch... because his Hogwarts letter never came. It was definitely a disappointment for the eleven year old, but he got over it. As a Squib, he still got to live with his family in Wizarding England, and he was the world’s biggest Quidditch fan. His favorite team as the Magpies, but he refused to give into his siblings’ rivalry and pick a Hogwarts team (though he secretly told Marley he always rooted for Gryffindor.) Out of her brothers, Marley was always closest to Maxi, in part due to their close ages. Maxi was in love with the Wizarding World and loved attending Wizarding events. Unfortunately, Maxi was killed on April 11th at the Easter festival. His death is going to cause a shift in the McKinnon family, and Marley will be out for blood.

CAT: the name of rabastan’s trusty feline companion is up for debate, originally named nox for the wand extinsinguishing spell as well as his dark fur. some time after this rabastan was introudced to the star wars franchise by sirius black and he took to calling his cat darth vader. eventually he started to refer to his pet as cat, and it stuck. cat is around ten years old and he only likes rabastan. 

MR. OWL: rabastan received mr. owl as a present before starting at hogwarts. the origins of his name are unclear, as many speculate that he originally had a different name but after seeing a commercial for tootsie pops, rabstan took to changing his name. in reality, he never bothered naming the owl and just referred to him as owl. and when he tried to change its name, it wouldn’t respond. the mr. was added after he saw a tootsie pop commercial.

                                     THE FORTESCUE FAMILY 

RAYMÓN FORTESCUE

- Father of Alice Longbottom (neé Fortscue). Fifty years old. Pureblood. Department of International Magical Cooperation (Representative of Cuba). Born in Cuba, immigrated to England at Twenty-Two.

Alice and her father have a good relationship. He doesn't view the British pureblood community as very respectable, especially after his own experiences with pureblood society in Cuba. When he and his wife, Xiomara, immigrated to England, they were not able to take much of their family wealth with them. Much of it was taken during the revolution, and the rest was withheld by their respective families because they decided to leave. Regardless they were able to create a happy life in England with their daughter. He feels immence guilt for her role in the current war, since he wanted to raise her somewhere safe and away from conflict.

XIOMARA FORTESCUE

- Mother of Alice Longbottom (neé Fortscue). Fourty-Nine years old. Pureblood. Healer at St. Mungo's Hospital in the mental injuries/illness ward. Born in Cuba, immigrated to England at Twenty-One.

Alice’s middle name is for her mother and the two are very close. Like her husband, Xiomara doesn't view the British pureblood community with much fondness. She was disowned by her own family in Cuba for her stance on the revolution and for her decision to immigrant to Europe. As a result she and her husband adjusted to a more modest lifestyle in England, but they were still very happy. Xiomara is aware of her daughter's position in the Order and acts as a personal healer for the organization whenever she is able to without putting herself or her family in danger. (If canon is followed, she will be the one to care for her daugher following Alice's toture to insanity.)

FLORIA FORTESCUE

- Cousin of Alice Longbottom (neé Fortscue). Daughter of Florean, sister of Francisco. Sixteen years old. Halfblood. Ravenclaw at Hogwarts. Aims to become a member of the Wizengamot.

Alice and Floria have a somewhat strained relationship. Despite Alice's attempts at friendship, Floria resents her cousin's pureblood status. Unlike the rest of her family, she and her brothers are both halfbloods through their mother. Her experiences at Hogwarts during the height of the war has given her a heightened concern with blood status in comparison with the rest of her family. Alice is worried about this obsession, but Floria is unaware of her cousin's role in the war. Her mother died early in the war.

FRANCISCO FORTESCUE

-Cousin of Alice Longbottom (neé Fortscue). Son of Florean, sister of Floria. Twelve years old. Halfblood. Gryffindor at Hogwarts. Aims to become an Auror.

Francisco and Alice are fairly close. Her begs her to take him to work with her so he can see what it's really like to be an Auror, but she insists that it's far too dangerous to tag along. Despite his disappointment, he still admires her career. He is less concerned with blood status than his sister is, but often gets into trouble at school. As a Gryffindor, he's often sticking up for people and get involved in things he doesn't need to. His mother died early in the war.

FLORIAN FORTESCUE

- Uncle of Alice Longbottom (neé Fortscue). Father of Flora and Francisco, brother of Raymón. Forty-Five years old. Pureblood. Owner of Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. Born in Cuba, immigrated to England at Eighteen.

Alice and her uncle are very close. She always makes sure to visit him during her trips to Diagon Alley, and he sneaks Neville ice cream when she pretends she isn't looking. He immigrated to England the moment he graduated from Castelobruxo and lived with his brother's family while he got on his feet. He soon opened the ice cream parlour and has passionately run it ever since. Like her own parents, he is unconcerned with blood status and married his wife without caring about him becoming a "blood traitor". He is disappointed in his daughter's resent and has had a strained relationship since the death of his wife (her mother). During the attack of the Eater Festival, the ice parlour was badly damaged.

BONUS:

NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM

- Son of Alice Longbottom (neé Fortscue) and Frank Longbottom. Nearly Two years old. Pureblood. Lover of plants and stuffed animals.

Neville is the light of Alice's life, her own heart beating outside her chest. She spends every moment possible and is disappointed that she isn't able to be with him more due to her job. Since his birth, she's been more careful and has become quite paranoid. Her worries aside, she doesn't regret her decision to go through with the pregnancy after much debate. His smile always puts her in a better mood and she can't imagine life without both him and Frank.
